- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:11Our little scooter would never do something like that.
- 0:15Welcome to What's Your least Favorite Scary Movie?
- 0:18The podcast where we talk about the good, the bad, the ugly, and
- 0:20the absurd in all of our favorite.
- 0:22And at least favorite. Scary movies.
- 0:23Because we believe every horror movie rightfully has its fan
- 0:26base. Even if we don't.
- 0:28My name is Travis. Hi, Jesse.
- 0:29Happy. Halloween, yeah.
- 0:31Eve, yeah, it's obviously the best time of the year, best
- 0:38weekend of the year. And we are celebrating this week
- 0:40by talking about a 90 Stoner Halloween classic Idol hands.
- 0:48And with that, I'll just move straight into announcements.
- 0:52OK? This past weekend we did our
- 0:53Texas Chainsaw Massacre round up where we did our like overall
- 0:58rankings of the franchise and then went back to see if our
- 1:01pastels agree. Also, our budget to your patrons
- 1:04or anyone who wants to pay for the one off episode on our
- 1:07Patreon. Our bonus episode was out this
- 1:09weekend as well. Name that tune Horror Movie
- 1:13Edition. So that'll be fun.
- 1:16We're excited about that as well.
- 1:18Finally, our horror movie roundup.
- 1:21We don't have a lot to talk about this week because we
- 1:24recorded last week's episode really late on Wednesday.
- 1:26We didn't have time to watch a movie.
- 1:28Then Thursday, Zoe decided she wanted to pull an exorcist, so
- 1:32we spent the evening at the hospital.
- 1:34She's OK now. Yeah, she's fine.
- 1:36She's fine. It was scary for a minute, but
- 1:38she's OK. So last night was the only night
- 1:41we've had a chance to watch a movie.
- 1:42It was Travis's pig. It was a familiar.
- 1:44It was one that we love on this show, that we have covered
- 1:48ourselves. That's right dude bro.
- 1:50Party massacre 3. Yeah, I love that movie, man.
- 1:53It's just fun. We just came off watching Idle
- 1:55Hands so I wanted the good times to roll and that one felt like a
- 1:59vibe fit for me. Indeed it did.
- 2:01Yeah, it was good time. Love it.
- 2:03OK, well, I mean, we don't have polis because again, I don't
- 2:08know, we've been kind of rushing some of this stuff here, and I
- 2:12figured some of the movie stuff would throughout October.
- 2:14Help be like a placeholder for polls in the time being.
- 2:18So I'll try and be a little bit more on it here in November
- 2:21coming up. It's not necessarily rushing it,
- 2:23it's just that we've got very busy schedules.
- 2:25Yeah, that's what I mean, Yeah, we're not trying to like rush or
- 2:27half ass anything. It's just we got a lot going on,
- 2:29you know, it happens, okay? So with that, we're going to
- 2:34talk about idle hands. All.
- 2:37Right Idle Hands released April 30th, 1999.
- 2:40We watched it on Pluto TV, which is the only place you can stream
- 2:43it right now, but you can also rent it from Prime, YouTube,
- 2:46Google TV, Apple TV or Fandango at home.
- 2:49Written by Terry Hughes Burton and Ron Milbauer, Directed by
- 2:53Rodman Blender music by Graham Ravel.
- 2:56Does that name sound familiar to you?
- 2:58It does a little bit, but I can't imagine who it is.
- 3:02Well, he's done a shit ton of shit for music soundtracks.
- 3:06One that you'll be excited to hear about is Pineapple Express.
- 3:08Oh hell yeah. OK.
- 3:10But we have in fact talked about him on the show because he did
- 3:12the soundtrack for The Ruins. Oh really?
- 3:16Wow, good job man. You do a good job.
- 3:19Special makeup by Canon Creations and captive Audience
- 3:25Productions. Cool.
- 3:26Cool, cool. Starring Devin Saw as Anton
- 3:29Tobias, Seth Green as Mick, Eldon Henson as Penub, Jessica
- 3:35Alba as Molly, Vivica A Fox as Debbie La Cure, and Christopher
- 3:39Hart as the Hand Travis. Time for our favorite game
- 3:44Budget or Buckhead? I am going to say bug Ted.
- 3:50Bug Ted, you are in fact correct.
- 3:52Is that 2.5 or 25? Hold on.
- 3:54Oh just kidding, it's not 2.5, it's 25,000,020. 50 it made
- 3:5825,000,000. No, it was on a budget of
- 4:0025,000,000. 25,000,000 yes what the fuck?
- 4:04A lot of it probably went to Seth.
- 4:06Green. No to the ending that got
- 4:09scrapped, which we'll talk about.
- 4:11And unfortunately, the dog is not in the in the calf in the
- 4:17calf. Or the cat.
- 4:18Or the cat. Duke and bones are not listed
- 4:21here. 6.3 out of 10 on IMDb. OK good, I'm glad that it has a
- 4:26good rating. I know that this is kind of
- 4:28considered a cult classic these days.
- 4:29In fact, it very much is, yeah. What was the box office for it
- 4:32again? Worldwide growth are opening.
- 4:35Worldwide. 4.1. On a 25 million budget?
- 4:38Yep. Fuck.
- 4:39Yep, that firmly puts it in cult classic.
- 4:42Yeah, yeah. So I've got a list of three
- 4:46movies from 1999. My theme is I got 99 problems,
- 4:52but these body parts ain't one. OK, so and this is a very loose
- 4:58theme because 1999 was just fucking weird for horror.
- 5:02Yeah, that was a that was a weird time for horror, for sure.
- 5:04Yeah, so I just kind of went with the theme of movies where
- 5:08fucked up shit happens to people's bodies.
- 5:09Oh, I'm down with that. I like that.
- 5:11That's a good genre. So the first one is audition.
- 5:15Oh yeah, we're talking about ankles and feet.
- 5:19Kitty, Kitty, Kitty. Yeah, Kitty kitties.
- 5:24That premiered at the Vancouver International Film Festival on
- 5:27October 10th, 1999. I don't have a budget but it
- 5:30made 363,000 worldwide IMDb of 7.1 out of 10.
- 5:35Yeah, I mean, that's a fantastic movie.
- 5:38Go in blind if at all possible. If you have no idea what that
- 5:41movie is, just like, watch that shit.
- 5:43Although now you know that something happens to the body
- 5:45part. But that's most horror movies.
- 5:47Second movie definitely the same tonally for sure.
- 5:51Not at all a drastic shift. The Mummy, the.
- 5:55Mummy. Wait, what happens?
- 5:56To the emo tap is like sucking up people's life forces.
- 6:02To bring himself back to life, he pulls out that one guy's
- 6:06eyes. Yeah, you're a fucked.
- 6:08Up shit that happens to body is you.
- 6:09The unfortunate thing for you is that you've only seen the mummy
- 6:11once in your life. That's true, but I remember.
- 6:14One of your biggest? Flaws, as cool as he is, is one
- 6:18of the like blandest looking characters ever.
- 6:21That The Mummy that is released on May 7th, 1999.
- 6:25Budget of 80 million worldwide grows of 417,000,007.1 out of 10
- 6:31on IMDb. Hell yeah.
- 6:32That's a great movie, Yeah. 3rd movie famous for headlessness is
- 6:37Sleepy Hollow. I, I, I had a feeling that that
- 6:40was what that was going to be. That released November 19th,
- 6:441999. Budget of 100 million.
- 6:46Worldwide Gross of 206,000,007.3 out of 10 on IMDb.
- 6:51So you got a lot of really highly rated movies from 1999
- 6:55apparently. And that wasn't the plan.
- 6:57I was just like, what is a theme that is being brought together
- 7:00with all of these? Even if it was a weird year,
- 7:02sounds like it was a banger of a year.
- 7:04I've never seen Sleepy Hollow. Like I, you know, I don't know,
- 7:08like I remember the headless guy when I was a kid and that kind
- 7:11of spooked me a little bit. But like, I don't know, I guess
- 7:15it's good. Johnny Depp.
- 7:17Tim Burton. Christina Ricci Yeah, I have
- 7:20several tag lines. OK, cool.
- 7:22I'm going. To start off with the longest
- 7:24one because I ran out of space to write it and I've got my
- 7:26screenshots pulled up right now. OK, so I'm going a little bit
- 7:29backwards. Order the devil will the devil
- 7:32will find work for idle hands to do.
- 7:34But what happens when he chooses the laziest teen slacker in the
- 7:37world to do his dirty work? On the poster, we actually have
- 7:42two OK, the touching story of a boy in his right hand.
- 7:50That's really, really good. Oh my God.
- 7:53The comedy that gives horror films the backhand.
- 7:56That first one was better. Yeah, the film that gives horror
- 7:59movie is the Finger. It's pretty good we're.
- 8:01Getting a little bit away though, because it's the whole
- 8:03fan whole hand, not the. Whole Yeah, you're right, You're
- 8:05right. Get your hands on this hot new
- 8:09horror comedy. OK, they definitely like they
- 8:14peaked so high earlier that everything after was just kind
- 8:17of a little bit more of let down each time.
- 8:20That's why I think it's so big on the poster.
- 8:22So like, we're not going to get any better than this.
- 8:25That's great. So I've got a few fun tidbits.
- 8:30This was actually kind of hard to find stuff just on the
- 8:32Internet about. I do think this would have been
- 8:35one that would have been beneficial for us to cover if we
- 8:37had the DVD. Well, I will let people know.
- 8:40I looked into that. Apparently it must be out of
- 8:43print because if you want to get a DVD or the Blu-ray, it's like
- 8:46$100. Jesus.
- 8:47Yeah, I'm not dropping that for. That right now, yeah, that's a
- 8:50lot. Yeah.
- 8:51OK, so the first thing that we need to talk about is
- 8:54Christopher Hart. He does work as the hand.
- 8:58This man made his career doing hand work.
- 9:01Is he from Adam's family? Yes, he's in Adam's family and
- 9:05Adam's family values as thing. Oh fantastic.
- 9:08And you'll also be seeing him later this year on the first
- 9:12season of Angel cuz he plays hands Really in an episode?
- 9:16Yep. Wow, what a weird typecast I.
- 9:19Know. But if you think about it, the
- 9:21hand has to be very expressive and you also probably have to
- 9:25know how to navigate really well in like a green screen body suit
- 9:29type thing. See.
- 9:30OK I'm wondering though, like did he only play the disembodied
- 9:34hand in this movie or did they like manage to find a way to
- 9:37like make it look like it was on Devin Sawa?
- 9:39I really don't have an answer for that because I was pretty
- 9:41impressed if that was Devin Sawa.
- 9:43Me too. That's what I was saying.
- 9:45Like, yeah, he like the way when he's like he's doing all these
- 9:48like multitasking things basically with that hand, I'm
- 9:50like that's impressive. I would not be able to do that.
- 9:53I mentioned earlier that there was an alternate ending and they
- 9:56had filmed this ending. They hadn't fully scored it or
- 9:59fully inserted the effects that you can look this up online.
- 10:02Basically the movie tended to lean a lot more towards comedy
- 10:07and then the ending was very dramatic and intense and the
- 10:12director, the producers and test audiences were all like, this is
- 10:15a really weird way to end it based on the previous the 90
- 10:19minutes. And it was this whole dramatic
- 10:21scene. Instead of going into the shop,
- 10:23Molly goes into where the school swimming pool is.
- 10:27She's up on the diving board and Anton goes to help her, but the
- 10:33gate has already opened up into hell and he sacrifices himself
- 10:37for her because Debbie says, well, once the gate is open, it
- 10:40won't close until it gets a soul maybe.
- 10:45And then I love that. That was fun, yeah.
- 10:47And so he drops in, the gate closes as he's falling, so he
- 10:51just lends in an empty swimming. Pool didn't.
- 10:53Need it. Yeah.
- 10:54And it still ends with Mick and Penneb going up into heaven.
- 10:59But this time they have a staircase to heaven.
- 11:01Yeah. Or a stairway to heaven.
- 11:03And I don't know why they couldn't have kept that part
- 11:05because that was, like, a fun little.
- 11:06Especially because like, their whole thing is, you know, the
- 11:08Stoner, like watching MTV. Yeah, like music videos and all
- 11:12that. Yeah.
- 11:13So but that not only was that, you know, obviously a budget
- 11:19impact, but it delayed the release of this movie by several
- 11:22months because they had to reshoot the ending.
- 11:24Wow and do everything with it. So I wonder if it would have
- 11:27come out like closer to January or perhaps even closer to
- 11:31Halloween time. See.
- 11:32The interesting thing is the ending we do get isn't exactly
- 11:36like super effects heavy like the ending that they did there
- 11:41so I'm surprised it took them so long to to do that but.
- 11:44We did get a lot of puppetry. We did get a lot of.
- 11:46I'm really happy we got the puppetry, the.
- 11:48Puppetry was a nice touch. So I the rest of my stuff comes
- 11:53from a website called Creepy Catalog, which is just like
- 11:56facts about the movie. And sometimes the facts are like
- 11:58Vivica A Fox plays this characterly.
- 12:01OK, well, technically a fact, but yeah.
- 12:04We we know. So this was filmed in Pasadena,
- 12:09the same neighborhood as Halloween.
- 12:11Nice. And if you go to gigster.com,
- 12:13you can learn a lot more about the neighborhood that it was
- 12:17shot in. Like there's like Google Maps
- 12:19information. Apparently Devin saw was actual
- 12:21houses in the neighborhood. Yeah.
- 12:24So but that that website started getting really weird and started
- 12:27making me feel kind of stalkery because it was like listing
- 12:29where people live, which I know is a thing around Hollywood,
- 12:32like oh, this is such and such as.
- 12:33House. Yeah, I really don't care to
- 12:34know where it. It started, yeah, started to
- 12:36make me feel uncomfortable. So I was like, I'm not gonna,
- 12:39I'm not gonna do a lot more with this.
- 12:41Devin Sawa didn't have his driver's license.
- 12:44How old was he in this movie? He was like between 18 and 21.
- 12:49I forget exactly how old he was. That's another one of the trivia
- 12:52fun facts that's going to be coming up in a moment.
- 12:54OK. He didn't have his driver's
- 12:56license, and so they had to use an actual stunt driver when they
- 12:58were driving Randy's truck. Really.
- 13:00Yeah. Man, and I think it's funny that
- 13:02that also like they tied it in with the not be like, of course
- 13:06this is a stick shift. Oh yeah.
- 13:09Yeah, he Devin thought what that is.
- 13:12He wanted to kind of break out of the shell he was in because
- 13:17he was kind of going towards like the like a teen archetype
- 13:23type of character. And he was like, I wanna do
- 13:25something different, so let's just get as weird as fucking
- 13:28possible. So yeah, that's what he told his
- 13:30agent. Yeah.
- 13:31OK. So he wound up in this movie and
- 13:33it was a departure from the types of characters he had he
- 13:36had previously played. Can you imagine the alternate
- 13:38timeline where Devin saw was like on The CW network on those
- 13:42like teen drama shows, Riverdale, something like that.
- 13:45I. Really can't.
- 13:46Yeah, it could have been. It could have been, but it
- 13:49wasn't so Penub's name. I'm sure you were wondering what
- 13:55this is meant to be. I was.
- 13:58I thought it was a very odd name.
- 14:00So it goes back to an SNL skit where Eddie Murphy is playing
- 14:04the Rascals character Buckwheat, and he's putting out a song of
- 14:09albums, but he's got a lisp, and one of them is What's Love Got
- 14:12to Do With It. But it's Penub.
- 14:14Penub got to do. I can't.
- 14:16I don't have it written down exactly how it was, but it was.
- 14:19It's a reference to that. Yeah.
- 14:20OK, interesting. So that's where that came from.
- 14:25You know, the part where Anton tries the nutmeg and oregano and
- 14:30then it tastes really bad and so he, like, washes his mouth out
- 14:34with dish soap. He improv that moment.
- 14:36So it was actual dish soap that was on the set.
- 14:40That doesn't taste good. No, I.
- 14:42Hate that so. I like that you just went for
- 14:46it. Yeah.
- 14:46That's a good scene. And then the gym that the dance
- 14:50is in is also the same gym from the 1992 Buffy the Vampire
- 14:55Slayer movie and from another movie from 1999, Jawbreaker.
- 15:00Really. Wow.
- 15:03So those are all my fun facts. All right?
- 15:06Cool. And I think we are ready to talk
- 15:07about good, bad, ugly and absurd.
- 15:09Yes, we are. All right.
- 15:11Well, I'll kick it off. OK, so the goods I have for
- 15:13this, I I, I will First off, love the cast in this movie.
- 15:19Everybody they picked like a banger of a cast here.
- 15:22Absolutely. Devin's always amazing.
- 15:24Seth Green, He like elevates just about everything that he's
- 15:28in. I mean, he's not like a
- 15:29phenomenal actor or anything, but he's like, good for this
- 15:31type of movie where it's like a comedy and he, I don't know, the
- 15:34character that he's playing here feels Taylor made for him.
- 15:37Yeah. And also Angelina Jolie, Like
- 15:40that's fucking crazy that they that's who that is, right?
- 15:45What? Who's the cast in this again?
- 15:48There's another, like, really big name.
- 15:50Where on earth did you get Angelina Jolie I?
- 15:52Don't know why I thought that that was the name.
- 15:55Isn't there like a big name in this cast?
- 15:56Jessica Alba. Jessica Alba.
- 15:58Vivica A Fox. Jessica Alba.
- 16:00OK, well, Jessica, Alba's a big name.
- 16:02OK, so I got the two confused either way.
- 16:04Like, I can't believe that they actually, like, scored somebody
- 16:06like her for something like this, too.
- 16:08This must have been, like, really early in her career or
- 16:10something. But anyways, my point is, good
- 16:12cast. OK, That's what I'm getting.
- 16:13Yeah, I like that. It has fun with the premise.
- 16:17The fact that they didn't kill, like, keep the characters dead
- 16:21when they died. I like that a lot.
- 16:23Because if you removed those two characters from this movie, it
- 16:27wouldn't be the same. I also that would just be
- 16:30criminally under utilizing Seth Green.
- 16:32Exactly right if. There is one critique I can
- 16:34offer most movies more Seth Green.
- 16:37More, Yeah, But like, The thing is, like, they have fun with
- 16:40that, too. Like, they're dead.
- 16:41Let's, like, play around with it a little bit.
- 16:43So they're like, let's have him eat Halloween candy while he is,
- 16:47you know, decapitated and it's just going to ooze from his neck
- 16:49and stuff like that. I love the bottle just sticking
- 16:52out of Seth Green's head the rest of the movie, you know what
- 16:54I mean? Like, it's just fun.
- 16:55Stuff like that. And I, I really like the comedy
- 16:59in this. It's really, really funny.
- 17:00And I think it has a banging soundtrack.
- 17:03You took basically everything I was going to say from the goods.
- 17:07Yeah. The cast, the humor, the
- 17:09soundtrack, all of it just works perfectly for me.
- 17:12I do also want to throw out there that opening kill scene,
- 17:15genuinely chilling. Yeah, that's like a genuinely
- 17:18chilling story. Right there.
- 17:19That immediate of like I'm under the bed holy shit.
- 17:24Yeah, yeah. It's really, really creepy.
- 17:25That stuff like that urban legends are made of for sure.
- 17:29What's your bad? God, that's a tough question
- 17:32man. Because I I really try to think
- 17:34on it and I had a hard time thinking of anything if I had
- 17:38anything to say. I am confused about the rules of
- 17:43this world because the two buddies die, but they're the
- 17:47only ones that stay around afterwards.
- 17:50Everybody else that's dead stays dead, so we don't get an
- 17:54explanation for that and it's a little bit confusing, to be
- 17:57honest. I really don't care because I
- 17:59liked having them around so I don't need an explanation, but I
- 18:02am a little bit curious about what was happening there.
- 18:05I think that's kind of what's great about Vivica A Fox's
- 18:07character in this, is that she can kind of ice chest the whole
- 18:10thing because she's like, I don't know, that's just how this
- 18:12stuff works sometimes. I like how she's.
- 18:14Very odd. Like up front, like, I mean,
- 18:15maybe this is how it is. I, you know, I have a dagger
- 18:18that might actually save the day.
- 18:20I really have no clue what's going on.
- 18:22Yeah. And then like at the end where
- 18:24it's like, oh, that's it. Yeah, Yeah, that's it.
- 18:27And it's. Funny that they aren't even
- 18:29really sure what's going on in the universe.
- 18:31Like even the knowledgeable character has really no clue
- 18:33what's going on but which. Again, I think that's a thing
- 18:36that works really well. Yeah, I agree.
- 18:39Like I don't realistically have a problem with it, but I am
- 18:42curious like what was happening here?
- 18:44Is this some kind of fantasy world that we're not really
- 18:46aware of, like this more supernatural shit happened
- 18:49around here that we're just not seeing?
- 18:50Or is this just like a weird case that's going on in a normal
- 18:54world? I think it's the second one.
- 18:56OK. That's what I that's what I
- 18:58believe, OK, Because I believe our normal world has this kind
- 19:02of stuff happening anyway. The.
- 19:03Thing is, like this is like Buffy, you know?
- 19:05Like everything is like totally normal.
- 19:07But then again we have like these secret like demon fights
- 19:10going on all the time but everybody else ignores that shit
- 19:12for the most part. Seven years prior, Buffy Summers
- 19:16did in fact, burn down that gym. It had to be rebuilt.
- 19:19Well, I haven't seen that yet. OK, That's part of the movie,
- 19:22right? Yeah.
- 19:23Yeah. OK.
- 19:24I haven't seen that yet. OK, that for me, I could have
- 19:29taken a couple more scenes like the beginning and just where we
- 19:34get a little bit more of like those horror moments because
- 19:37those are there. We say all the time that like
- 19:39horror and comedy are two sides of the same coin.
- 19:42You just have to know those peaks and valleys and timing and
- 19:46that opening scene shows that we can have those scary moments in
- 19:49the movie. I think the only other one that
- 19:51we really get any kind of like closeness to are the moment in
- 19:55the vent and the moment with a couple making out in the truck.
- 19:58Yeah, Yeah, I think you're right.
- 19:59And really, now that you've mentioned that, I feel like that
- 20:02original ending still could have worked because you're almost
- 20:04like bookending it, like with another serious horror moment
- 20:08like we had in the opening. Like you get to play around in
- 20:11the middle of the like the beginning and end or like
- 20:13strictly horror. I think it could have worked
- 20:15still. But I agree with you, Yeah.
- 20:18Like, we don't really get a lot of, like, true horror moments in
- 20:21this. Like once we get to the premise,
- 20:23it's just like kind of wacky. And there's a lot of music that
- 20:26gets reused and I wish we could have just had more continued
- 20:31good music, especially cuz we've got the Offspring there as the
- 20:35band at the dance and we cut Tom de Launch working at the Burger
- 20:41Jungle. I completely miss him and I'm
- 20:44really sad about that actually. Because you're like, yeah, I
- 20:46know it's blink 182. And I was like, no, yeah, it's
- 20:53the offspring. Yeah, OK, ugly.
- 20:55That's. That's that's my ugly it didn't
- 20:56have colosis in the offspring I. Didn't.
- 20:59Have colosis Ugly. Let's see, I have to think about
- 21:05this one for a second. I didn't like seeing the cat
- 21:10being tossed out the window. We never do see.
- 21:14Bones after that, do we? What happened?
- 21:16Believe the scene. Maybe I don't wait.
- 21:17No, he does get Bones back, but then I guess Bones just does the
- 21:22cat thing and disappears for a while.
- 21:23And I was like, you and the dog. Yeah, deal with this.
- 21:25The cat. Probably hides like a cat does,
- 21:28yeah. But yeah, that that was the
- 21:30thing that really upset me. OK, mine is this movie.
- 21:34It's listen, it's capturing a moment in time because it was
- 21:381999, but in 2025 it is a little rough hearing some of the
- 21:42language that's used. Yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 21:45Yeah, and I like that. Again, movies preserve a moment
- 21:50in time and may not always capture the best of society.
- 21:55And obviously a lot changes in 26 years, Yeah.
- 21:59But that's, you know, it's something that does kind of like
- 22:02hit the ears hard. Yeah, like today it'll kind of
- 22:06alarm you sometimes. Yeah.
- 22:07All right. Absurd.
- 22:10Absurd. First off, Molly's dancing.
- 22:14When they get to the dance is it reminded me of like D, like with
- 22:18like the inflatable arms, just like going all over the place.
- 22:21Don't know what the fuck she was doing with that.
- 22:24We have the Offspring there, but they're playing covers instead
- 22:27of originals. They're playing the Ramones.
- 22:30Why are they not playing the Offspring?
- 22:33I really don't understand either.
- 22:35It's just. I I really don't.
- 22:37You've got the Offspring there. Like, take advantage of it.
- 22:39What are they going to say? You can't use their music?
- 22:42They're right there. I wonder I wonder if it's a
- 22:45record label issue. It could be, I guess, yeah.
- 22:48And then how long that final 6 minutes takes at the end of the
- 22:53movie, They're like, all right, it's 6 minutes till midnight.
- 22:55And then we have like 15 to 20 minutes of the movie remaining.
- 22:59That is such a funny moment though, because she says we only
- 23:02have until midnight. He goes, Oh well, it's not even
- 23:049:00 yet, that's plenty of time and I thought we were about to
- 23:06get a whole diversion of the trope, but then she goes, it's
- 23:09in Druid time so we've got 6 minutes.
- 23:13Yeah, it was just like old school Dragon Ball Z type stuff
- 23:17like this planet will explode in 5 minutes and then that's like
- 23:2125 episodes worth of material right there.
- 23:24Yeah, it just. Yeah, I'm curious how long this
- 23:28fight between Goku and Piccolo is going to last right now.
- 23:32Oh, no, we're not going to worry.
- 23:33We don't have to worry about that because that stuff is going
- 23:35to be like condensed when we get to that part.
- 23:38OK, That's in Kai. We got Kai.
- 23:39We're not going to be going. Well, I'm talking about the one
- 23:41right now. I'm still fighting Piccolo right
- 23:44now in Dragon Ball. It's not super drawn out, OK,
- 23:46Yeah. No, no, no, it's good.
- 23:47OK OK my absurd. I'm probably overthinking this
- 23:52because this is a movie about an evil hand that takes over
- 23:54slacker bodies. How did the hand get high?
- 24:00Because that's how they end up defeating it.
- 24:02Well, your hand doesn't have lungs.
- 24:05You'd be surprised, but. No, I am surprised.
- 24:07Jesse, what the fuck's wrong with your hands?
- 24:09That's why I have asthma, because I I only.
- 24:12Have the chest, lungs. I don't have the hand lungs.
- 24:14Man, you're missing out, I'm telling you.
- 24:16You must be super oxygenated. I am super well oxygenated.
- 24:21You don't even know. Yeah.
- 24:24So I was probably thinking about that a little bit too much, but
- 24:27it's so. Silly, I just love the idea that
- 24:29they blow in like the puppets eyes get ready when they roll to
- 24:32the back of his head and it's just like I we're just having
- 24:35fun you. Know that's the best thing about
- 24:36the new ending is that they brought in the puppets and
- 24:39that's such a good way to portray you know an evil hand is
- 24:43with a puppet yeah exactly it's so much fun and just I mean
- 24:49that's that's most of it OK it's just like we can't think too
- 24:54much it's. Hard because this is like an
- 24:55absurdly absurd movie as it is. So like you have to like really
- 24:59find some true stand out moments.
- 25:01Other than that, OK all. Right.
- 25:03What are you wanting to rank it? God this movie fantastic.
- 25:08I love it so much. It does so many things well, I
- 25:11think I'd give it a nine. 9 I. OK, sorry.
- 25:14Go ahead. I'm gonna say we'll also give it
- 25:16a nine. OK.
- 25:17Yeah. Like I think like that one point
- 25:18missing is like, like you said, like if we like pumped in a
- 25:22little bit more horror moments pumped.
- 25:24In a little more horror moments and gave us a little bit more
- 25:27variety in the soundtrack because the soundtrack is really
- 25:29great as it is, but we do have a few repetitive songs.
- 25:32Yeah, Yeah. Then we have like potentially
- 25:35true classic on our hands here. Yeah.
- 25:37Yeah. All right.
- 25:39So 9 out of 10. All right, cool.
- 25:42Well, let's get into it. We start off with a house with a
- 25:45super fucking ornate front yard. Like it's the kind of front yard
- 25:48I want us to have, which is mostly ornamental grasses.
- 25:51That way we don't have to deal with as much lawn care.
- 25:54Yeah, let's just get fake grass, man.
- 25:55I am totally down. On that grass, ornamental grass.
- 25:59Ornamental grass. It's different.
- 26:00It's a different thing. The the mother, Tobias is
- 26:05upstairs asking Fred Willard. Fathers biased.
- 26:08Yeah, yeah. You were so excited to see his
- 26:10name. And then it's like.
- 26:11And he said. Yeah, I forgot that the parents
- 26:13bite it right away. Yeah, me too.
- 26:15She's like, did she pull out the candles downstairs?
- 26:16She goes, yeah, Which if you had said something like that to me,
- 26:20I would immediately be like, all right, I'm gonna go check
- 26:23because I don't trust that you actually remember if you did or
- 26:26not. Yeah, I don't.
- 26:27I wouldn't blame you. So but she doesn't do that.
- 26:31She's just like, OK, cool, that's fine.
- 26:33They lay down in the bed and turn off the lights and then
- 26:35phosphorescent paint on the ceiling is the phrase I'm under
- 26:39the bed, which is scary. But down to me like goes this is
- 26:43clearly a prank by Anton. And mom says our little scooter
- 26:47wouldn't do something like that, which we immediately we call
- 26:51Scout scooter a lot. So we were like our scooter
- 26:54would do something like that. And Speaking of things scooter
- 26:59would do, we get a cat jump scare because the dad, Gary, I
- 27:04think his name is, he goes downstairs to check out the
- 27:07sounds he's hearing. Oh.
- 27:08Yeah, there was also nothing under the bed.
- 27:10He did look under there. There's just something there,
- 27:12yeah. So yeah, he goes downstairs.
- 27:15And she hears some sounds, but he doesn't come back up.
- 27:18So she goes downstairs to look for him, ends up seeing the
- 27:23candles are still lit. And she blows them out.
- 27:25And she goes Gary. And then she slips on Gary's
- 27:27blood. Yep, Yep.
- 27:29So she runs back upstairs and she starts to dial 911, but she
- 27:33can't remember which number comes first.
- 27:36Yeah, and then as that's happening, a hand grabs her from
- 27:38under the bed, drag her's underneath, and then just like a
- 27:41splatter of blood shoots out from underneath.
- 27:43This, this front, this is how they blend the horror and comedy
- 27:47really well because the bed is just, like, shaking.
- 27:48Yeah, I've seen a mount. Yeah.
- 27:51So in the morning, we see Anton wake up in the floor of an
- 27:54unfinished attic. I'm sure he likes living up
- 27:59there. Yeah.
- 27:59You know, like when you're that age, that's kind of a cool place
- 28:03to be. That's why I didn't question it
- 28:04too much and I like that they didn't over explain it.
- 28:06It's just like, yeah, he smokes weed all day.
- 28:08Of course he wants to be up in the attic.
- 28:10Because he's high. He's high up there, and he's
- 28:11also getting high. Yeah, yeah.
- 28:14He goes downstairs and he's shouting at his mom that they're
- 28:16out of milk, that the dog's out of food, which Duke is like
- 28:20throwing the food bowl. And I told Travis we had dogs
- 28:23that used to do that. My family did, yeah.
- 28:25They were just, if they wanted food, they would just throw a
- 28:27bowl lettuce as we were walking by, which I'm glad our pets have
- 28:31not learned that. Yeah, me too actually.
- 28:33It's really nice to not have things thrown at you.
- 28:36Yeah, he also just like takes 5 incense and just like throws
- 28:39them in there and lice them all at the same time.
- 28:41That's because he's blazing. Yeah, he's, he's smoking a bowl.
- 28:45He briefly has the news on, but gets past it.
- 28:48Yeah. It's talking about like 5 people
- 28:49have been killed in a neighborhood.
- 28:51Serial murders are happening. Then he calls his dealer, who
- 28:54says this is not a delivery you got to come get it.
- 28:57Turns out right across the street, it's his friends Nick
- 29:00and Mick and Penub. They're making fun of everything
- 29:05about him. Yeah, I mean, he walked across
- 29:08the street. He's in this boxer.
- 29:09So he didn't put himself together at all.
- 29:12He's just wanting weed. And he's like, they're teasing
- 29:14them about, you know, they don't have any weed.
- 29:17And then he hears a motorcycle outside.
- 29:20What's at the window? Yeah, it's his crush.
- 29:23It's Molly. Well, before that happens,
- 29:25though, they say something about what?
- 29:27About your parents? And he's like, well, I haven't
- 29:29seen him in a few days. And I'm like, you know, there's
- 29:30a murderer on the loose. They're probably murdered.
- 29:32And they're joking and they don't realize how true it is.
- 29:35Yeah, I it's, I'm glad that they said that cuz like I would not
- 29:39know. It's been days.
- 29:39That makes sense why the pets are throwing the food bowls.
- 29:42Yeah, I get it now. A little bit more then we hear
- 29:47the motorcycle and it's Molly who's had a crush on since
- 29:50forever and his friends continue to make fun of him and we're
- 29:52like bet you won't even go ask her to the dance.
- 29:55We find out that the town has a curfew for everybody due to all
- 29:58of the murders. So that's pretty much the only
- 30:01Halloween event is the school dance going on.
- 30:03So he goes out to prove to them that he can ask her out and they
- 30:08offer some pants for him. Well.
- 30:10She dropped her lyrics book on the way over there, so yeah, he
- 30:13noticed that that's his end. So yeah, yeah, he's got Mike's
- 30:16pants on now. He's going over there to hand it
- 30:18over. Mick.
- 30:19OK, Mick. Which I just don't believe that
- 30:22Mick could fit into Seth Green's pants.
- 30:26Or I don't, I don't think. Devin saw, I don't think.
- 30:29Devin saw it could fit into Seth.
- 30:30Different size, different people.
- 30:32Yeah. It's like we watched the
- 30:34original miniseries a few weeks ago and like just.
- 30:38Like look in the screen, hit that height at 12 and stopped.
- 30:43He looks like a completely different person in that movie
- 30:45too, right? Like it's weird.
- 30:48He sounds like a completely different person.
- 30:50He. Does, yeah.
- 30:51The whole thing is insane. It's a.
- 30:52Changeling situation. So he he summons up the courage,
- 30:57he gets the book from the ground, and he goes and knocks
- 30:59on Molly's door. She opens it up and then he just
- 31:02tosses the book out and runs away.
- 31:04Yeah, we cut to Beaver, UT We've got sister Debbie.
- 31:08She's at the jail. She's saying that she's there
- 31:11to, like, speak to an inmate, I guess to find Jesus or whatever.
- 31:15But she goes, shit, it's gone. He's.
- 31:17Going to get shriveled up hand now, yeah.
- 31:18Which makes me wonder like how did the hand use him and lose
- 31:21him? Yeah, She goes back under her
- 31:24van and she's marking a map and she realizes the next place
- 31:29it'll probably go is Bolin, which is where Anton lives.
- 31:34So that's where she's gonna head to.
- 31:36She. Also takes all of the points
- 31:38that it's struck at and does a big circle and then or realizes
- 31:42that it makes a pentagram. Yep.
- 31:44Indeed it does. Anton is going back to his house
- 31:47with some groceries. I'm impressed that he even did
- 31:50that much. I know, me too.
- 31:51He did steal the shopping cart, but that makes sense if he
- 31:54doesn't drive because. Before they had that little self
- 31:56walking mechanism thing. I just imagined that he takes
- 31:59the quarter thing from ALDI and he considers the quarter an
- 32:03investment he. Doesn't want that.
- 32:05Yeah, it's like I bought it. I purchased.
- 32:06Yeah, he's like, I purchased this cart for $0.25.
- 32:10It was a really good deal. I don't know.
- 32:11Why people don't? Do it.
- 32:14Yeah, so he's there and he's just kind of going down the
- 32:16road. It's a foggy day and then he
- 32:18gets tackled, Yes, And he gets up and it's a couple of cops.
- 32:21Yes, they were seniors a couple years ago.
- 32:24They're still bitter that Anton and his friends would make fun
- 32:27of them. Apparently there's a deleted
- 32:30scene where we find out that they were the mascot for the
- 32:35school. They were.
- 32:36Yeah, they were the head in the ass of a Buffalo, which is why
- 32:40when he kills them later, Mick says go, go Buffalo.
- 32:45Yeah, OK, that makes sense. Yeah, they.
- 32:48So they're cops now, and as cops do, they're wielding their power
- 32:53irresponsibly. Yeah, they they're frisking.
- 32:55Them. Yeah, they frisk them.
- 32:57They find an empty bag and like smells like weed and he's like,
- 33:00you can't charge me with anything if it's empty.
- 33:03I'm like, oh what about littering and they just drop the
- 33:06bag on the ground and then give him a $200 fine.
- 33:09This. Is my favorite thing.
- 33:10They take the fine, they throw it on the ground, and then we
- 33:13see the next scene. He's just back at his house and
- 33:15he's using the finest rolling paper.
- 33:16Yep, sure he is. It's.
- 33:19Such a cool thing and I don't know what it is.
- 33:21He takes a hit of it and I guess like spoken to Ink might have
- 33:24done. So it's nutmeg and oregano
- 33:27because make him pinup earlier we're.
- 33:29Saying, you know, yeah. I read that you can smoke nutmeg
- 33:32and array now clearly just fucking with him, but he.
- 33:35I completely missed that. Yeah, no, he takes it literally
- 33:39and he's so I'm. I don't like nutmeg that much so
- 33:44I can't even imagine. No, I actually am at a point
- 33:47where I am like very cautious about nutmeg because I massacred
- 33:50one of our ciders with nutmeg like earlier this month and it
- 33:54tasted. Awful.
- 33:56I understand why he had the reaction he did.
- 33:58Yeah, I really wish I hadn't seen how much you poured in
- 34:00there because it was a bowl of nutmeg with a hint of apple
- 34:06cider. Yeah, I massacred that.
- 34:11So this is that scene where he's like going over there.
- 34:13He's washing off his mouth and everything.
- 34:16He starts hearing some creaking and he's like, trying to listen
- 34:20for it, stops the TV. His dog is panting.
- 34:22And he even, like, holds the dog to the shop for a second, which
- 34:25is so real, yeah, so real. But nothing happens.
- 34:30So he continues going about his business.
- 34:33And then he is going to make a sandwich and he uses, first of
- 34:39all, he uses a butcher knife to spread mayonnaise on his bread,
- 34:42which that's irresponsible. That's yeah, that's it.
- 34:47I don't understand. The it's a disgusting.
- 34:51At first I, I didn't realize that it was blood that was on
- 34:54the knife. I thought it was Jelly.
- 34:55So I thought he was making a mayonnaise and Jelly sandwich.
- 34:57I'm like, that's fucking nasty. But he is high.
- 35:00He's. Not high.
- 35:02That might have actually had an effect on him.
- 35:03Not Megan or Reagan it. Might have actually worked, we
- 35:06don't know. That's the sandwich of a high
- 35:08man right there. But he takes one bite and then
- 35:11he realizes it's bloody and he spits it out.
- 35:15Freaks out, sees Bones playing with an eyeball, and he gets
- 35:20Duke. And like this, this, the dog
- 35:24actor deserves a credit because this is this is Talia.
- 35:28When she's very insistent she needs to go outside.
- 35:30She's hit her got a poop button three times and we open the door
- 35:33and she just stands there and we literally have to push her by
- 35:37her butt out into the yard. That's what Duke is doing.
- 35:41And as he's going around, he ends up finding his parents
- 35:48hidden in like. The decorations.
- 35:50Yeah, like the decorations. They had there, they had like
- 35:52these pumpkin people in their house, like a.
- 35:54Scarecrow with a pumpkin head type of deal, but they got put
- 35:57into that so he is obviously freaked out and he gets Nick.
- 36:02Mick and Pinup. Wow.
- 36:04I'm gonna struggle with their names.
- 36:06Mick and Pinups. I've already fetched it up
- 36:08multiple times so that's great. And Foggy.
- 36:11Yep. That's it.
- 36:12That's how I wrote them most of the time, actually.
- 36:16They come over and at first they're distracted because the
- 36:20music video they didn't think was allowed to play anymore.
- 36:22Yeah, I love that. Yeah.
- 36:23Hold on, would you like to know what song this is?
- 36:26I would be very curious, yeah. I just like the dance members
- 36:29they're doing. It's 2 live crews pop that
- 36:31coochie pop. That coochie.
- 36:32Pop that coochie. I can see why that wouldn't be
- 36:34played on TV. Yeah.
- 36:36I mean, yeah, it makes sense. It's a very sexually suggestive
- 36:40music video, that's for sure. It's very into it.
- 36:42Yeah. And then he turns off the TV and
- 36:44they're upset. And he goes, look, and they're
- 36:46like, oh, shit, your parents always go all out for Halloween.
- 36:49And he was like, no, it is them. And then they start trying to do
- 36:51CPR and they freak out when they realize that his parents are
- 36:54actually dead. And this is kind of like when
- 36:56you start to realize that these kids really are like, really,
- 37:00really good friends because they're so familiar about the
- 37:02parents. Yeah, except Seth Green is like,
- 37:05OK, I'm going to call the cops. So he goes over there and starts
- 37:08to dial 911. He's like, yeah, my friend, he
- 37:11smoked some nutmeg. And then he just like.
- 37:14Rips the phone out of the wall. Yeah and he comes in and he's
- 37:18got a bottle in his head cuz Anton killed him and so Nub
- 37:23freaks out. They see in the floor Ant.
- 37:29Written in blood, this. Is actually that was before Seth
- 37:31Green dies. Was they saw an Ant written in
- 37:33blood on the floor? Oh.
- 37:34Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh yeah.
- 37:36And they're also was he killed by ants?
- 37:39No. Do you have a killer?
- 37:40Ant Do you have a killer Ant and.
- 37:42Then they realized that the strip of cloth that was in his
- 37:45mom's hand matches the piece torn from his T-shirt and he's
- 37:48got glow in the dark paint on his hand.
- 37:51Has he not washed his hands in days?
- 37:54Yeah, probably not, no. And then that's when Mick goes
- 37:58to call the cops. That's it, That's it.
- 38:00Anton kills him because the Hand doesn't want him to be arrested.
- 38:04He's got evil stuff to do. And then he after he's killed
- 38:09Mick, he goes to kill Panab. Panab runs downstairs, throws.
- 38:13It's like just trying to throw stuff at him.
- 38:15But Anton's like just go past me, go past me.
- 38:18I don't know what's happening, but you need to get past me.
- 38:20And when Panab tries to, he throws a song blade at him.
- 38:24Yep. The cat takes his head.
- 38:25Yep, his Kappa is detained, so he goes back and sits at the TV
- 38:32and his hands are fighting over what they're going to watch.
- 38:35And then they throw the cat out the window.
- 38:38Yeah. He just like takes the cat by
- 38:39the tail and just. Like, I've got a sad face and,
- 38:43you know, we've had a decent streak of movies where I haven't
- 38:45had to put a sad face in my notes.
- 38:47Yeah, and I'm actually kind of shocked that this is one of the
- 38:49ones that did it. Right.
- 38:51I didn't expect that from idle hands.
- 38:53Well, the cat went flying all the way to Molly's house, so
- 38:56he's got to go over there and, you know, check on his cat.
- 38:58He goes over there and knocks on the door and she answers and she
- 39:03basically forces him to talk to her.
- 39:05Yeah, and it seems like maybe she's had a crush on him, too.
- 39:09Yeah, seems like it. And so she invites him in and
- 39:12they're talking and he says, you write really good lyrics.
- 39:15And she goes, what the fuck? You read my book?
- 39:16That's private. He goes, well, no, I just like,
- 39:18I was just curious and like I could hear how they would sound.
- 39:22And he's like, you know, kind of singing.
- 39:24And he keeps trying to leave. He's just like this.
- 39:26And I would normally love to do this.
- 39:28I'm really not myself right now. He grabs her ass at one point.
- 39:30She goes, I didn't think you would make a move like that.
- 39:33And so they start making out and he keeps like almost choking
- 39:36her. So he takes the tie from her
- 39:39robe and ties his hand up and she's like, oh, kinky.
- 39:42And then we had a commercial break.
- 39:46Yeah, there's like there's some time that passes, I think, and
- 39:50we don't know necessarily what happened, but her parents are
- 39:53now home, so he has to get out of the house.
- 39:55Yeah, and she's like, well, there's not much going on
- 39:57tomorrow besides the dance, but maybe we can go do that.
- 40:00So that's their plan. So we it it.
- 40:03Cuts to him now in his backyard. He's dug a grave and buried his
- 40:06friends and family. And he you googleizes them.
- 40:09Yes, he does. Then he hears talking coming
- 40:13from the ground, and that's Mick, and he's like, Mick,
- 40:15you're dead. He goes, Well, I don't think so.
- 40:19So he unburies himself, and then Panab also unburies himself, and
- 40:26Mick knocks Anton out with his shovel.
- 40:28Yep. So he wakes up, he's in his
- 40:31attic in his bed, and he's like, damn, that was a crazy dream.
- 40:34Yeah, and he comes downstairs and make him panover down.
- 40:36There he goes, you guys. I just had the weirdest dream.
- 40:38I thought you guys were dead. Oh shit.
- 40:41That screen's still got a bottle on his head, and Foggy's head is
- 40:45just in the couch. Yep.
- 40:46And he was like, oh, my God, that was all real.
- 40:49You really knocked me out. He goes, well, yeah, I was a
- 40:51little bit upset by having been murdered by my best friend, but
- 40:55I'm over it. Yeah.
- 40:57And he asked like, why are you guys here?
- 40:59Did you, did you go to hell? Are we in hell?
- 41:01And he goes, no, like, we're not great people, but we're not
- 41:04terrible people. There was like a light and like
- 41:07church music and all that, but we just kind of were like.
- 41:11Stick here. Yeah.
- 41:13So now. This is like, because a lot of
- 41:16movies will be like, well, the ghost only stays around if it's
- 41:19got unfinished business. I think that sometimes the
- 41:21unfinished business is like I just wanna eat in smoke and
- 41:24watch TV with my dad. I just wanna chill with my
- 41:26buddies. Yeah, I think that's a fun take
- 41:28too. I think 17 is too young to die.
- 41:30I just wanna chill out a little bit more, yeah.
- 41:33So he's like asking them for help.
- 41:35He's like, do you know anybody that can help me?
- 41:36He's like, well, I do know somebody that can maybe like has
- 41:39some knowledge of Satan that you can maybe talk to.
- 41:42Randy, whose theme song is it's. Freddy, I think.
- 41:45No, it's Randy. Is it Randy?
- 41:46Is. Randy.
- 41:47OK, shout at the Devil plays every single time he's on the
- 41:49screen. And this is one of those moments
- 41:51where I'm like this what we need for ID for the music.
- 41:55And he's like, just because I listen to that music doesn't
- 41:57mean that like, I, I know about devil worship.
- 42:01Like it's just music. Is that really the only
- 42:04connection they had there? Just because he's like a metal
- 42:07music fan? Yeah, that's weird.
- 42:09No, I think that's perfectly in keeping with the the humor of
- 42:13this movie. No, yeah, I agree with that.
- 42:15It's just yeah, OK. Yeah, and Randy's not especially
- 42:18eager to help him out because Anton has cock blocked him at a
- 42:21memorial for the Twins outside of Burger Jungle.
- 42:24He gets in his truck. Drives over the memorial.
- 42:28To drive, Yeah, he drives, go over the memorial and into the
- 42:30Dr. thru. So Anton goes inside, forces
- 42:32himself into the Dr. thru window so he can talk to Randy.
- 42:35Which? Person was Tom Delange.
- 42:38I'm not sure. OK, There was a lot happening in
- 42:40there and I was like trying to check names cuz we we had
- 42:45captions on for the 1st 2 1/2 minutes of this movie.
- 42:47The captions were in the middle of the goddamn yeah.
- 42:49Like straight up centered in the middle.
- 42:51It was the worst captioning setup I've ever seen in my life.
- 42:54So there were a lot of things I missed in the midst of like
- 42:58trying to double check, like Fact Check things online as I
- 43:01was taking notes. So I missed exactly who he was
- 43:04in the driveway. OK, well, I did too, and I was
- 43:06watching, so it's like completely missing, I guess.
- 43:08Yeah. So where Randy basically tells
- 43:11us he's like, he thinks maybe Anton's addicted or something.
- 43:16He's like, really what you do is you just got to keep yourself
- 43:18busy, keep your hands moving. That's why I'm always working on
- 43:21my truck, you know? Yeah, he tells him.
- 43:23Idle hands are the devil's playground.
- 43:25Yeah. And so we cut back to Anton's
- 43:28house, and he's knitting. And they're like, really?
- 43:30And he goes, listen, Randy explained it to me, and idle
- 43:32hands are the devil's playground.
- 43:34And they're like, that's probably more metaphorical.
- 43:38That was such a Seth Green response right there too.
- 43:40Like I could hear him in just about anything so.
- 43:42Yeah, that felt it. Was it was odd?
- 43:44Yeah. That was a very odd, yeah.
- 43:46Pretty sure that's not affordable.
- 43:47Yeah, I like this too. This makes me think of you.
- 43:50He's just knitting. And he's also listening to Rob
- 43:52Zombie. Yeah, that's, that's my vibe.
- 43:54That's just, that's my vibe. Me cross stitching and yeah.
- 43:59But so as he's knitting there, the cops pull up outside.
- 44:02They had a noise complaint, and they're going to go investigate
- 44:04it. And they realize that's the
- 44:05fucking kid that they just hassled earlier today.
- 44:08And they see his parents bodies and they're like oh shit he's
- 44:11the killer. So they come in and Anton freaks
- 44:16out and he's asking making Panab what they should do.
- 44:19And Panab starts to answer. One of the cops freaks out and
- 44:23shoots him in the head. He goes.
- 44:25Well, I was going to say that you should listen to him, but
- 44:26now I think you should fucking. Kill him.
- 44:29Yeah. So they're freaking out because
- 44:31they see two dead people there and.
- 44:33They shot one of them and it still didn't do anything.
- 44:35Yeah. But Anton is like, hey, like,
- 44:38actually this is a great idea. You can arrest.
- 44:40Me, Yeah. He's like, arrest me so I can't
- 44:42kill anyone else. But he won't stop knitting
- 44:43because he doesn't want to do something while the cops are
- 44:45there. They're like, you have to stop
- 44:46knitting so he can put the cuffs on you.
- 44:47And he goes, no, just cuff me. And they're going back and
- 44:49forth. And eventually he kills one of
- 44:51them with a knitting needle and the other with a Taser.
- 44:54Yeah, that other guy, by the way, was Sean Whelan, I think.
- 44:57I don't. I'm pretty sure it is, yeah.
- 44:59Hold on one moment, please. Oh, yeah, they were Sean Whelan.
- 45:04Yeah. OK, Yeah.
- 45:06Sean Whelan and Nicholas Sadler, OK.
- 45:08So they're dead. Yeah, they're dead.
- 45:10That's what Sean Whelan does. He appears in movies for a few
- 45:13minutes and dies generally. Yeah.
- 45:15So this is where Anton realizes that it's the hand.
- 45:18And he's like, I need to just get rid of it.
- 45:21And they've got a bagel guillotine.
- 45:25There's there was this British documentary type of show.
- 45:31And it was kind of like how, how it's made type of thing.
- 45:36But instead of like how it's made, it was like testing the
- 45:39efficacy of different like methods of doing daily chores.
- 45:43And one of them was cutting a bagel, like what's the safest
- 45:45way to cut a bagel versus like what's the most dangerous way?
- 45:48And they did like, talk about the bagel guillotine, which only
- 45:51has an effective rate of like 60 something percent.
- 45:55Wait, was this, was that one of those products that you would
- 45:57see on like an infomercial? OK, that's what I thought.
- 45:59Yeah, and it definitely was like sold in like a kiosk in a mall,
- 46:03like those as seen on TV kiosks. Yep.
- 46:06Yep, Yep, Yep, I could see it. But yeah, because it's made for
- 46:09a bagel, it doesn't cut through. It it just does nothing, Yeah.
- 46:14And so then he tries to cut it with a cleaver.
- 46:16No, at first he's like, he's like Mick, give me the electric
- 46:21Carver, and then he gets it. But he's like me.
- 46:23I'm The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Oh yeah.
- 46:26And I was like, he's a Leatherface in Part 3, which
- 46:29that would have come out by now, so he wouldn't have seen it.
- 46:31And I really hope that that's what he was thinking of.
- 46:33I hope. So too, yeah.
- 46:35Yeah, and that it unplugs though because it's not battery powered
- 46:38like leather faces. Yeah.
- 46:41And then he's like, OK, cool, I'll just use a cleaver.
- 46:44Except his hand isn't moving away from him.
- 46:46So he goes pinup quick, hold me still.
- 46:47So pinup like bites the hand and then he.
- 46:51Wax it off. Wax it off.
- 46:52And then he's bleeding a lot and they use the iron to cauterize
- 46:56the wound and then put a grocery bag over it because they're
- 47:00teenage boys. He's I guess it's gonna get
- 47:02infected. We got some antiseptic stuff
- 47:05over at Nick's place. We're gonna or at Pinup's Place.
- 47:07We're gonna go grab that U Hang tight.
- 47:09We'll be right back. Yeah, the hand writes in the
- 47:13blood. Bad move, Anton.
- 47:16Then Molly's at the door. She's ready for the dance.
- 47:18And he's like, hold on one second.
- 47:22She goes, listen, I just don't want to be dicked around.
- 47:25Like, if you're going to be late, let me know.
- 47:27Just don't stand me up. And he's like, just give me one
- 47:30second. He goes inside.
- 47:32He ends up getting a hold of the hand and puts it in the
- 47:34microwave. And very like a la urban legend,
- 47:38explodes it. Yep.
- 47:39Yeah, it's just like blood shooting from it.
- 47:42You know, he goes back out to Molly and they start to walk
- 47:44towards the dance. Meanwhile, Make and Panab have
- 47:47come back. They also got macro with
- 47:49burritos. I respect it.
- 47:51Like, if you're gonna run across the street for some good snacks
- 47:53to you. Yeah, do it.
- 47:54Yeah. Yeah, so they open up the
- 47:56microwave and boom, the hand flies all the way through the
- 47:59window, out the door, through the window, out the door, out
- 48:02the house. Yeah, it runs away.
- 48:04Yeah, it runs away, Anton tells Molly.
- 48:07Cuz he's in his head, realizing that maybe he needs to do
- 48:10something more with the hand besides just leave it in the
- 48:12microwave. He's like, go on ahead and I'll
- 48:13meet you there. And she was like, please just
- 48:15don't stand me up. And he's like, I promise I
- 48:17won't. I need to clean the house before
- 48:19my parents get back. They're going to be furious.
- 48:22And he gets in there. They've heated up their
- 48:25burritos. And he was like, Oh, my God,
- 48:28like, where is the hand? And they're like, hey, you know,
- 48:31we've helped you out. And you know what?
- 48:34You've you've done enough for the world.
- 48:37You've cut your hand off to not be a murderer.
- 48:39I think you deserve some Anton time.
- 48:40Yeah. I'm trying to get him to smoke
- 48:41some weed. Yeah, smoke some weed and he's
- 48:43like, no, you know what, for once I'm not going to be the
- 48:45screw up. Yeah, he, he's having this
- 48:48moment. He's like, I've been a Stoner.
- 48:50I've not done shit with my wife the entire time.
- 48:52I'm going to change. Things.
- 48:53And then Mick cuts him. Off he goes.
- 48:55We're not doing the Kevin Costner speech.
- 48:57Come on, let's just go to the man and the Hand has written.
- 49:01She's mine on the fence. Yeah.
- 49:03So he knows that she's in danger.
- 49:05So we're now at a bowling alley. It is Randy.
- 49:09He's over there bowling in. With some buddies.
- 49:12I think it's the a couple that's about to.
- 49:14Die yes, it is the couple that's about to die.
- 49:15They're gonna leave so that way they can go get ready for the
- 49:18dance to get their costumes on. And at that moment Debbie
- 49:21Lakir's walking in and Randy's like y'all go ahead.
- 49:24I think I'll be able to find a ride.
- 49:26It's an. Interesting move for Debbie,
- 49:27Like hey, I gotta go trek down this hand, let's do some
- 49:30bowling. But think about it.
- 49:32She's seeing all of the different things people are
- 49:34doing with their hands. They're reaching into the
- 49:36bowling balls, they're playing the arcade games, picking up
- 49:39like all bowling alley food, disgustingly, is hand food,
- 49:43which is not hygienic at all. I.
- 49:46Guess, I guess. OK.
- 49:48Yeah, well, Randy, I noticed this here.
- 49:51And he tries to go pick her up. So they start talking at the bar
- 49:55and he's like, what are you doing here?
- 49:56And. She's just like, I don't think
- 49:57you can give up. He goes try me and she goes, OK.
- 49:59I am part of a long line of people dedicated to stopping
- 50:02this evil that takes over the nearest teen slacker it can find
- 50:05and forces them to kill using their hands.
- 50:07He goes, you know what? My neighbor Anton was talking
- 50:12earlier about his hand being possessed, and she goes, let's
- 50:15find him. I like that we just cut through
- 50:17the bullshit because, again, it's a reversal on the trope
- 50:20because the trope would normally be like, he wouldn't mention it.
- 50:23He'd be like, that's weird. Yeah, exactly.
- 50:25And they kind of danced around the topic for a while.
- 50:26But instead we go straight to it.
- 50:28And it's great. We cut back to that couple.
- 50:30Their costume was just kiss makeup.
- 50:34Yeah, Yep, yeah. And they're making on their car
- 50:36outside the gym. And it's getting too warm, so he
- 50:39like, cracks the window and that's when the hand climbs in
- 50:42and kills him. Death.
- 50:44And as that's happening, we see Anton and his buddies.
- 50:48They've arrived at the place. They stole Randy's truck, Randy
- 50:52sees them stealing the truck from Debbie's van.
- 50:54So they're like all kind of like following each other and they
- 50:58get out. The trio that is.
- 51:00They get out, they see the couple is dead and they run into
- 51:03the dance to try and hopefully save Molly.
- 51:07Yeah. So Next up we see the principal.
- 51:09I'm assuming he's in his office and he's having phone sex.
- 51:13It's not even, it's a 900 number, is it?
- 51:16Yeah. He was calling because they had
- 51:19his credit card number wrong, so they were saying that they
- 51:22couldn't. He goes, no, it's 8488.
- 51:24There's so many things in this movie I missed that are
- 51:27hilarious. That's funny.
- 51:29Yeah. So I.
- 51:30I just like the idea like you're like calling to fix a billing
- 51:33issue and you just wind up having phone sex.
- 51:35Yeah. No, it was, it was specifically
- 51:37it was meant to be like a 900 number situation.
- 51:40Yeah. Well, as he's doing that, the
- 51:42hand works its way to his crotch, grabs him for him, and
- 51:46kills him. Yep.
- 51:47And at this point, Debbie finds Anton in the hallway and he's
- 51:54trying to like, stab him with like a little WAVY dagger and
- 51:58he's like, please stop. And then he finally, like, shows
- 52:01his thump. He's like, look, I cut it off.
- 52:03It's just like, that's a bad fucking movie.
- 52:04He's like, yeah, I figured. Yeah, he's like, but also the
- 52:08only way she was going to be able to stop the hand was to
- 52:09murder him. So I in terms of self
- 52:11preservation, it was great move. Yeah, actually, yeah.
- 52:14And that's when she says that if it's got its eyes set on Molly,
- 52:20it's going to try and bring her to, like, bring her soul to the
- 52:23gates of hell at midnight. And he was like, well, it's not
- 52:25even 9, so we're fine. And she goes, no, it's Druid
- 52:27time. We've got 6 minutes.
- 52:30So they go in and they interrupt the dance and nobody's amused.
- 52:34They don't believe it until Dexter of the Spring gets
- 52:38killed. Yeah, he gets yeah, completely
- 52:41brained. It is nasty.
- 52:44The Hand starts doing like mass murderers type of stuff.
- 52:47I like that, like it goes up to the top and like cuts the lights
- 52:50and they just all fall on the people.
- 52:51It reminded me of like the collection.
- 52:52That's actually no, that's actually what I was thinking of.
- 52:55It's very similar to that moment of yeah, like where?
- 52:59That like, huge sweeping thing, yeah.
- 53:00Like it kills like a lot of people at the dancer.
- 53:03It's really neat. Molly and her friend Tanya
- 53:06escape into the vents of the school, and they're crawling
- 53:11through trying to get out. They're worried that the Hand is
- 53:14going to be following them, making Panab are also following
- 53:17because Panab had been flirting with Tanya and he's like I gotta
- 53:20save her. She she dug his outfit.
- 53:22Yeah, yeah. Which is so funny because
- 53:24earlier in the movie they were joking about, Oh no, we wouldn't
- 53:27be caught that at the dance, and now they're dead.
- 53:30Can you just picture us in a couple of costumes, maybe
- 53:32flirting with Tanya? There we go, They did it all.
- 53:36Yeah, so Molly takes Tanya's shoe and wedges it in between
- 53:41the blades. So she takes like a little, OK,
- 53:44she called it a shoe in the movie.
- 53:46No, I was OK. That was a joke that went over
- 53:48your head. A wedge is the type of shoe.
- 53:52Jesse, have you not learned anything from this?
- 53:53I'm too stupid to catch some of these jokes.
- 53:55OK Anyways, she wedges it there and she takes the belt or
- 54:01something, I don't know. She like fashions, a way to like
- 54:03get down in there. I.
- 54:04Had like a whip. A whip.
- 54:09I'm not sure what it had to do with the devil.
- 54:11Everything, Probably, yeah. And I like how they're in the
- 54:14couple's costume, though even though, like, Molly was going, I
- 54:17didn't. Even think of that Yeah, Devil
- 54:18and Angel you're. Right.
- 54:19It's a it's a friends couple costume and I think that's cute
- 54:22and I think that's important that even if you are starting a
- 54:25new romantic relationship, you can still do friend in a couple
- 54:27of costumes. Yeah, for sure.
- 54:28That's important. Well, Molly makes it down and
- 54:31Shannon is. Is that her name?
- 54:33Tanya. Tanya is too.
- 54:35I don't know where Shannon came from.
- 54:42Tanya is too afraid to make it down there, but it's too late
- 54:46anyways because the hand made it to her so.
- 54:48Here's The thing is that she starts to drop down but then the
- 54:52hand wraps the lasso, whip, whatever around her neck and it
- 54:57knocks away the shoe and my thoughts are oh, the fans just
- 55:01going to cut the width. That's what I thought too.
- 55:03I thought I was going. To save her, yeah, but instead,
- 55:05no, she it. Wraps her up through it.
- 55:08Yeah, that doesn't make make any sense.
- 55:09It reminds me of Miles's birthday party, our youngest
- 55:14nephew, when the balloons were like around and one got caught
- 55:19up in this. Ceiling.
- 55:20And it was. Traumatic for all the children
- 55:22watching. It's like that, except with
- 55:26blood. Yeah, that's a good kill, though
- 55:30it doesn't make much sense when you think about it.
- 55:31That's fun. Yeah.
- 55:33And again, this movie is really good at, like, taking the way
- 55:36you expect things to happen. By this point, you're like, OK,
- 55:38well, it's a comedy, so she's just gonna drop down.
- 55:40Nope. Yeah, but everywhere.
- 55:43And Molly runs out and she gets knocked out when she runs into
- 55:46the auto shop. Anton finally makes it to where
- 55:51she is and he is fighting the hand, and the Hand is jumping
- 55:54around from a series of puppets. Why are there so many puppets in
- 55:57this auto shop? I am very confused about what's.
- 55:59Going on here, Bobby Hill's auto shop.
- 56:02Yes, absolutely. I like the puppet that shows, so
- 56:06yeah. Yeah, that God it.
- 56:09Reminds me of that. Like I've not seen the episode
- 56:11yet, but the Angel puppet. Yes, it.
- 56:13Reminded me a little bit of that.
- 56:14It's very expressive, much like the Angel puppet.
- 56:17And Travis is aware of this. He has seen me.
- 56:20He hasn't watched any Angel. He's watched one episode of
- 56:22Angel now. Yeah, but he knows I'm obsessed
- 56:25with Puppet Angel, and he tried to find me one for my birthday a
- 56:27few years ago and was exhausted. How expensive they are?
- 56:30People charge out the fuck and watch you for.
- 56:32That, yeah, yeah. But anyway.
- 56:36Molly is tied to the top of a car and there is like a it's
- 56:40being raised up to the ceiling to smusher.
- 56:43Yes, yes. Which Panab points out later
- 56:48that like nothing in this auto shop seems safe enough because
- 56:50it seems like it shouldn't go up that high and later it shouldn't
- 56:53come down as fast. As it does, yeah.
- 56:56So they're they're struggling with the hand because the hands
- 56:58on the lever and they can't get it off.
- 57:00Of the and it's stronger than them and so as pronounced says
- 57:03me needs me spinach. They've got this really
- 57:06impressive like exhaust pipe bong.
- 57:10Yeah, I really have no idea what it is, but apparently it's a
- 57:13bong. Yeah, and they they light it up
- 57:15with the weed. And it doesn't make them
- 57:17stronger, but it does give Anton an idea, because he blows smoke
- 57:21up the puppet's ass. And I mean that in the most
- 57:23literal sense of that phrase. And the puppet gets the hand
- 57:27inside, the puppet gets stoned and it falls.
- 57:30They stop the rise of the car. Everybody's really happy.
- 57:35Then the hand jumps up, starts to attack Debbie walks in, just
- 57:38then throws the dagger and it stabs the hand into Mick, and
- 57:43then it just goes. He goes, that's it, that's it.
- 57:47No Hellfire, no explosion. It just disappears.
- 57:49She goes, yeah, sometimes that's how it is.
- 57:51Who is to go have the ritualistic sex?
- 57:54And so him and her and Randy go and have the ritualistic.
- 57:57Sex. I was really scared for a moment
- 57:58there because I forgot how that ended.
- 58:00But I like the way that he was building was like, that's it,
- 58:02that's all that's happened. There's no big explosion.
- 58:04I fully expect with him to explode because he got stabbed
- 58:06too. I think it probably also didn't
- 58:08help that you have him so closely tied with Buffy now, and
- 58:12you're used to. Not the poofs.
- 58:13Yeah, the poof's happening when somebody gets stabbed in the
- 58:16and. Probably.
- 58:16There's probably a bit of that in there.
- 58:17Yeah. Yep.
- 58:19So Anton gets Molly down from up there and they are just standing
- 58:25underneath the car and they're just having their moment and all
- 58:28of a sudden the lever goes down and the car just smashes Anton.
- 58:36And then the bright light comes back making Panab walk towards
- 58:40and they said, are you coming, Anton?
- 58:42But then we got to the hospital and he's in a full body cast.
- 58:46But they come back as guardian Angel.
- 58:48So like, listen, you, they decided you're stupid and you
- 58:51need help basically. But they they need to go get
- 58:55snacks from the vending machine. Visiting hours are over.
- 58:58Anton is alone in the room. Lights go out and on the ceiling
- 59:02in the phosphorescent paint is I'm under the bed.
- 59:05And he starts freaking out and making panabre.
- 59:08So laughing for a minute because this is how they found the
- 59:10whole. Maybe you think that they're
- 59:11just being oblivious and they're like, when should we tell them
- 59:13that we put that there? Yeah.
- 59:14Yeah, I will love that. Yeah.
- 59:15That's a great idea. That's such a good ending.
- 59:17I prefer having seen both. I do prefer this ending.
- 59:20I do too. Yeah, but I don't think the
- 59:22first one would have been as egregious.
- 59:25No, I don't think so either. I think I would have liked it
- 59:27with that one still too, but because it keeps that part with
- 59:31the hospital too. Yeah, I really like that moment.
- 59:34OK, I'm going to keep it in mind.
- 59:36Yeah, I'm, I'm doing the same, OK?
- 59:37This is just a really fun movie, man.
- 59:39It really is Talia. Talia was she was very active
- 59:46throughout this whole movie and I think the real horror of it
- 59:50for her was that there was this extra hand running around and it
- 59:55didn't even once offer to scratch the dog.
- 59:57I. Mean can you blame her?
- 1:00:00Talia has been very itchy lately.
- 1:00:02She's allergies, Yeah, it's allergies for her.
- 1:00:04And this time of year she just got super itchy and she's been.
- 1:00:07Forcing only so much that Bath's Benadryl and allergy shots can
- 1:00:11do for a dog. Yeah, so she she wasn't a fan of
- 1:00:13that hand. So this is a 10 out of 10 cuz
- 1:00:15it's scary scary it's. Very scary.
- 1:00:18Obviously Zoe's ultimate warrior's fucking bones.
- 1:00:21Yeah, eating the eyeball. Probably getting sick from the
- 1:00:25eyeball. Probably.
- 1:00:26Yeah. Who?
- 1:00:28Did you relate to? Well, I, I feel like I did, I
- 1:00:33related to Anton because that opening scene of him like waking
- 1:00:38up, going downstairs, doing his thing.
- 1:00:40That was me at that time in my life too, at that age.
- 1:00:44So I I related super hard to that.
- 1:00:49I think I probably related to. I think you really the Anton
- 1:00:54too, by the way, with the the Knitting and the Rob Zombie.
- 1:00:58That's fair, That's fair. But if you got somebody else in
- 1:01:01mind, I'm I'm all ears. No, not that you pointed out.
- 1:01:04I mean, that is the duality of chassis, so.
- 1:01:08Yeah. OK, dream sequel.
- 1:01:12Oh boy, so. Obviously we got to have two
- 1:01:16hands this time. Two hands, yeah, OK.
- 1:01:20We have two hands. Obviously Panov and Mick and
- 1:01:24Anton all need to be involved cuz I just like all three of
- 1:01:29them as an ensemble. Well, I mean, if he, if we're
- 1:01:33sticking with Anton, they're gonna be his guardian Angel.
- 1:01:35So they're gonna be there. What if it's like a class
- 1:01:37reunion? Like we set it back and like we
- 1:01:41have it in present time. OK, I would so like for it to be
- 1:01:44a Halloween thing. Oh definitely still a Halloween
- 1:01:46thing, but like my little sister just had got this gross
- 1:01:49sentence. She just had her high school
- 1:01:51reunion. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:53OK. Yeah.
- 1:01:55What a gross sentence to say about my baby sister.
- 1:01:58You're right though, that was around Halloween time, so I
- 1:02:00guess you're right. OK, yeah, high school reunion
- 1:02:02type thing. Yeah, and it was like, hey,
- 1:02:04remember the time that you saved us all from the dance?
- 1:02:07Pretty sure maybe we all were high.
- 1:02:09That was weird. Did you guys smoke nutmeg too?
- 1:02:14Everybody's like smoking nutmeg that night.
- 1:02:16And maybe, I don't know, maybe like the essence of the hand is
- 1:02:20still around somewhere. We just kind of hand wave away.
- 1:02:24You know how it comes back, but it just comes back.
- 1:02:26And this time, there's two of them.
- 1:02:27Yeah, and obviously I think, you know, we got Debbie and Randy
- 1:02:32are like, you know, they're together still.
- 1:02:34And I guess they're going to be like the the compass for like.
- 1:02:38I want Debbie and Randy to still be together.
- 1:02:40They're like a demon fighting team.
- 1:02:43I want Anton and Molly to have like crashed and burned really
- 1:02:48hard and it's very like Animus to them, OK between them.
- 1:02:55All right, I like that. Yeah.
- 1:02:57OK, cool. OK.
- 1:02:58All right. Tagline.
- 1:03:03Oh. Boy, that was a good tagline
- 1:03:05that. Was such a good tagline.
- 1:03:06It's gonna be really, really hard to do anything better than
- 1:03:09that. You can't handle the truth.
- 1:03:21Man, it's hard not to just think of hand puns, you know?
- 1:03:24Yeah, that's, I mean, I'm not even trying to shy away from
- 1:03:27them. OK, dead right hand.
- 1:03:32Dead right hand. I got a red right hand, yeah.
- 1:03:41If you think left-handed people are evil, wait until you meet
- 1:03:45Anton Tobias. This.
- 1:03:48Is his left hand? No, it's his right hand, Yeah.
- 1:03:58God, this is tough. This is so fucking tough.
- 1:04:01I feel like I've thrown out a few applause I.
- 1:04:03Like that first one though, yeah.
- 1:04:04And what was the 1st? One, you can't handle the truth.
- 1:04:07Let's do that. You can't handle the truth.
- 1:04:09I like that. I do have a review.
- 1:04:12OK. Oh wait, do we want to do?
- 1:04:15What would Dom do? Dom.
- 1:04:16Do all right, so I, I want to approach this from Don.
- 1:04:22His hand is possessed. Yes.
- 1:04:24He has not prevented it. I feel like Don would do like
- 1:04:29what he does with most of his enemies and he would end up
- 1:04:32defeating it through driving fast and then pulling it in to
- 1:04:36be part of the family. OK, well he like he also is
- 1:04:39like, well, I gotta keep my hands active so he's just
- 1:04:42driving with it and. You know what happens at the
- 1:04:44end? What?
- 1:04:45He's the one that touches the Food First, so he has to say
- 1:04:47grace because it's the hand. Yeah, I just I like that as like
- 1:04:58part of like the not even the end, just like a one in the
- 1:05:01moment, like they're having dinner in his hand goes rogue
- 1:05:03and touches the food and like Jesse the Madison, just like,
- 1:05:06ah, you got to you got to say grace.
- 1:05:11I like how in our What Would Dom do?
- 1:05:12We've now just decided Jesse is canonically always alive.
- 1:05:15I. Mean in my ideal world, he would
- 1:05:19be. We have seen plenty of people
- 1:05:21people die brutal deaths in Fast and the Furious and come back.
- 1:05:25Hello, Han Bring. Him back Han and everybody.
- 1:05:28Everybody. Giselle probably more.
- 1:05:34They're definitely more, yeah. OK, Letty.
- 1:05:37Letty, Yeah. OK, I've got I've got a 2 out of
- 1:05:4110, OK. And it just says Nope.
- 1:05:47And this came out in 1999. So I just want you to know the
- 1:05:51context of where this is. When was this reviewed?
- 1:05:541999 OK, OK yeah, I know the movie came out in 1999.
- 1:05:58I meant the review. OK, Yeah.
- 1:06:00What's wrong with the scary horror film?
- 1:06:02What's wrong with the film that has great camera angles and a
- 1:06:04fuzzy, shaded killer lurking menacingly in the background?
- 1:06:07Or how about a killer that stalks you almost religiously
- 1:06:10and then kills you when you're least expecting it?
- 1:06:12Where have all those films gone? Because this film is not one of
- 1:06:14the better horror films that I've seen.
- 1:06:16It's not even a good film. This type of movie is the kind
- 1:06:19of film that every Nightmare on Elm Street was after the first
- 1:06:22and before the last. It is all humor and no scares.
- 1:06:25And that bothers me. I am a starving horror fan.
- 1:06:28I grew up in the 80s and perhaps I was spoiled with Halloween and
- 1:06:31Nightmare and Texas Chainsaw and Freddie and Jaws.
- 1:06:33Because those films are made now.
- 1:06:35Because the films that are made now are not really scary movies.
- 1:06:38They are thinly disguised slasher flicks that rely on
- 1:06:41borrowed time on another man's memories.
- 1:06:43Can you name the 80s horror movies that the line is from?
- 1:06:46It also relies on gore, and that is fine if there are the scares
- 1:06:50to go along with it. Remember Jaws and Halloween,
- 1:06:53Very little blood in all atmosphere.
- 1:06:55Now I know it's hard to be Spielberg and Carpenter, but
- 1:06:57this doesn't even come somewhere on the right side of the middle.
- 1:07:01This is just pure trash. But as a few others have
- 1:07:04commented here, maybe we're just getting too old.
- 1:07:06Maybe being 27 is a little old for a film like this.
- 1:07:09Maybe if you're under 20 you can enjoy this more.
- 1:07:12But if that's true, then that would mean that people that grew
- 1:07:16up in the 60s and enjoyed films like Rosemary's Baby would not
- 1:07:18have enjoyed Jaws on Halloween. But that isn't the case.
- 1:07:21Those are true horror films and they're damn scary.
- 1:07:24This film is a high school project with great social
- 1:07:26effects. It's not scary and it's not
- 1:07:27enjoyable. It's actually something that I
- 1:07:29would put out of the horror, put out for the horror garbage meant
- 1:07:32to take away and burn at the stake.
- 1:07:35OK, this person is clearly taking the horror label way too
- 1:07:38seriously for this. This person didn't mention
- 1:07:43scream anywhere in there. I feel like they probably didn't
- 1:07:45watch that even though it had come out a couple of years
- 1:07:47earlier. I was even thinking like there
- 1:07:49are plenty of movies in this 80s era that they're talking about,
- 1:07:53like Return of the Living Dead, Reanimator, like, you know, like
- 1:07:56these movies, they don't take themselves seriously, Evil Dead,
- 1:07:58Evil Dead. They just have fun with the
- 1:08:00premise and it's just a fun. It's not really scary, it's just
- 1:08:03fun with the horror, like horror elements, you know?
- 1:08:06Yeah. This type of movie works for
- 1:08:08people who are horror fans because we know the tropes of
- 1:08:11what to expect. Yeah, and that's what makes this
- 1:08:14fun to watch. I get if you wanna watch a
- 1:08:16horror movie and be scared, I really do get that.
- 1:08:19But my main goal when I watch a horror movie is to not be bored.
- 1:08:23So I'm OK with a horror comedy like this.
- 1:08:25But I get it when people are like, I just want them to be
- 1:08:28scary. My recommendation is if you want
- 1:08:30pure horror, don't watch a horror comedy like.
- 1:08:34It's look. For pure horror movies.
- 1:08:36And it's definitely billed as being a horror.
- 1:08:38Comedy. Yeah, I mean some.
- 1:08:39Places don't even list it as horror, they just listed as
- 1:08:42straight up comedy. Yeah, I could see that, but I
- 1:08:44mean, there's too much horror going on for it to be to not be
- 1:08:46a horror. Comedy for me, I agree.
- 1:08:48I think that that opening scene especially would be a little bit
- 1:08:50too intense if you were just expecting straight comedy, yeah.
- 1:08:52I mean, like, The thing is killing people.
- 1:08:54Yeah. Throughout the entire movie, you
- 1:08:56know, like it's yeah, OK. But yeah, like, that's just
- 1:08:59somebody that doesn't like horror comedies for sure.
- 1:09:02All right. Do we have any listener reviews?
- 1:09:04Yes, we do. Yeah.
- 1:09:06OK. I haven't screenshot them
- 1:09:10because it's not been 24 hours yet, so I'm gonna check them in
- 1:09:13real time here. Fine, because you're editing
- 1:09:16this week, so. Yeah, that's OK.
- 1:09:17I got them right here. All right, so on Instagram,
- 1:09:19Cubesafe says it's got the Offspring playing one of their
- 1:09:22best songs. What's something like?
- 1:09:24Do they actually play a song of their own in this?
- 1:09:26I completely miss it if so. I'm gonna be honest here, I'm
- 1:09:30not like a Super Offspring fan. I don't really know their
- 1:09:33discography super well so. I'm pulling up.
- 1:09:36I know for sure the soundtrack right now.
- 1:09:38They were playing the Ramones when we first saw them.
- 1:09:40The. Offspring.
- 1:09:42I mean, it's just listing beheaded.
- 1:09:45Beheaded was theirs. Yeah, OK.
- 1:09:48That's kind of fitting. It's really distracting when you
- 1:09:51have the Ramones playing right before it.
- 1:09:53Yeah, OK, OK. Over on Blue Sky Award, Zombie
- 1:09:56says I remember this classic. Totally a piece of early 2000s
- 1:09:59movie history. It would really be compared to a
- 1:10:03modern day PG horror comedy in a way.
- 1:10:05Fun watch. I gotta check it out again soon.
- 1:10:08Yeah, Yeah, for sure. I think.
- 1:10:10Yeah, that's a good way to say like a modern day PG horror
- 1:10:12comedy for sure. Yeah.
- 1:10:14I could definitely see it like that.
- 1:10:15Yeah, I mean they are planning. Well, they announced some time
- 1:10:18ago a remake of it. Oh, really?
- 1:10:20Yeah. So I haven't seen anything come
- 1:10:23of it, huh? I wonder how that'll go.
- 1:10:25I feel like this one is so encapsulated in time.
- 1:10:27This. Is 1?
- 1:10:28I wouldn't want to remake of it but I don't know it could be
- 1:10:32good. I guess there's potential, Half
- 1:10:34price horror says. I have fond memories.
- 1:10:35I saw this in theaters back in the day and in fact it was the
- 1:10:38first movie I saw in the next or in the new 16 screen theater
- 1:10:42they built near my house. It's silly and campy and dumb,
- 1:10:45but absolutely none of that is a deal breaker for me.
- 1:10:48Same. I I mean those things kind of
- 1:10:50make a lot of movies for me. That's a good combination of
- 1:10:53things for me. OK, that's it for the review
- 1:10:56soon. OK.
- 1:10:57All right. All right, we do not have next
- 1:10:59week's movies yet because it's actually a new month.
- 1:11:03We'll have that scheduled out for you and hopefully we'll have
- 1:11:06a chance to film our idea to announce our new franchise.
- 1:11:10But in the meantime, you do have our bonus episode where we rank
- 1:11:14the Texas Chainsaw movies. Say farewell to them.
- 1:11:18And if you are a budget to your patron or if you want to
- 1:11:21purchase the episode, that bonus episode will be out this weekend
- 1:11:24and name that were theme. And you know, Speaking of our
- 1:11:29bubbies on the Patreon, we'd like to go ahead and give them a
- 1:11:32shout out. We have Joe Freakatron, as is
- 1:11:34his name, Amber, Michael, Lord Zombie, Tyler, Chad, Johnny and
- 1:11:38Jason. Yep, that's it.
- 1:11:39OK, OK. The last the last two times I've
- 1:11:43done it, I've left somebody off and I was like, I feel like I
- 1:11:45probably did it again, but I didn't.
