- 1:48Speaker 4: of our own. Robrial from her sister station ninety six
- 1:51Speaker 4: to one KWS, is going to join me a little
- 1:53Speaker 4: bit later. Remember last year Rob went on the road
- 1:56Speaker 4: searching for the region's best burgers. Well now he's doing
- 1:59Speaker 4: the same thing with one and that's the thing he's
- 2:02Speaker 4: calling winging it. Rob's gonna join it to talk about that.

- 2:07Speaker 4: You're at the radio ranch. We'll be hearing him on

- 2:15Speaker 4: Brian Hughes doesn't get the title of the new guy anymore.

- 2:27Speaker 2: zero four nine three five five zero zero. I do
- 2:29Speaker 2: want to say this. I originally, and you heard the promos,
- 2:32Speaker 2: originally had former Delegate Rick Stayton scheduled to be on
- 2:36Speaker 2: the show this morning and he had to postpone. He
- 2:39Speaker 2: had a little accident. Now he's going to be fine.
- 2:41Speaker 2: He's recovering from a fall from what I understand. So
- 2:45Speaker 2: if you know, if you know Rick, reach out in
- 2:47Speaker 2: wishing Well. We'll try to get him rescheduled on the
- 2:50Speaker 2: show at some point in the future. Welcome in now
- 2:52Speaker 2: to to the Jericha Ttruction Studios, Charleston City Council Will
- 2:55Speaker 2: councilman from the twentieth Ward Chad Robinson, Hey doing, my friend.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Good morning, Dave. So you always said it was going
- 3:01Speaker 5: to be seventy five eventually, Sonny, in seventy five is
- 3:03Speaker 5: what I said, eventually.
- 3:04Speaker 2: And so what are where are we now? We're not
- 3:07Speaker 2: so we're not sunny, and that's we're sixty six right now. Close.
- 3:11Speaker 2: So we're getting close. So I let the cat out
- 3:14Speaker 2: of the bag there that you were a last minute
- 3:15Speaker 2: at That's okay. Well, no, there's a lot of news
- 3:18Speaker 2: I want to get to with you. But I had
- 3:21Speaker 2: scheduled to have Rick Staton on the show today. You
- 3:23Speaker 2: don't know whether you know record or a longtime public servant,
- 3:26Speaker 2: and I always like to interview these former legislators, you know,
- 3:29Speaker 2: whether they're Republican or Democrat, just to see what they
- 3:32Speaker 2: think about things now. So i'd reached out to Rick
- 3:33Speaker 2: over the weekend and actually a couple of weeks ago,
- 3:36Speaker 2: and he had a little fall at home and he's
- 3:38Speaker 2: doing okay, but he's just resting up a little bit.
- 3:40Speaker 2: So so here you are. There's a lot of news, though.
- 3:46Speaker 2: What we're gonna say about Rick. I'm sorry, and.
- 3:47Speaker 5: Rick's going long term. Majority live in the house, so
- 3:50Speaker 5: he knows the ins and outs of the capitol.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll get him back on again real soon.
- 3:55Speaker 6: All right.
- 3:55Speaker 4: So there's a lot of a lot of news I
- 3:58Speaker 4: think coming out of out of your district you serve
- 4:01Speaker 4: ward to twenty. Explain what that district is.
- 4:04Speaker 5: War twenty is from Lower Donnelly all the way to
- 4:08Speaker 5: South Ruffner and I come across at the hospital and
- 4:12Speaker 5: take in the hospital and towards the University of Charleston.
- 4:15Speaker 5: I stay on mostly on the railroad side of the
- 4:18Speaker 5: hill in Kanas City.
- 4:19Speaker 2: All right.
- 4:20Speaker 4: So it's I guess one of the worst kept secrets
- 4:23Speaker 4: out there, and it started making news. I mean, they
- 4:25Speaker 4: would have been rumblings about it, about what's going to
- 4:28Speaker 4: happen to the Kmart property over there.
- 4:30Speaker 2: That's correct.
- 4:30Speaker 5: It's from a social media post yesterday fire took off
- 4:36Speaker 5: and here we are, you know, we Metro News and
- 4:40Speaker 5: other stations and but it's probably one of the worst
- 4:43Speaker 5: kept secrets in Kanas City for businesses. What we do
- 4:48Speaker 5: know is that Kmart we're talking about the Kmart building
- 4:51Speaker 5: on the east end of Kanas City and that it's
- 4:55Speaker 5: been vacant for probably ten years or more. And know
- 5:00Speaker 5: there's a lot of rumors going back and forth for
- 5:02Speaker 5: several years of what who bought it and when they're
- 5:05Speaker 5: when what they're gonna put there. But just recently there
- 5:09Speaker 5: was a online auction and the business, the company who
- 5:14Speaker 5: owned the Kmart building sold sold the building online to
- 5:20Speaker 5: the Gomart corporation of the Westernion based company to put
- 5:24Speaker 5: a new travel plaza in Okay. We had been hearing
- 5:28Speaker 5: all the rumors about rural king and everything else and
- 5:31Speaker 5: that none of those came to fruition. We started hearing
- 5:36Speaker 5: about the Gomart possibility, uh several months ago, and I
- 5:40Speaker 5: think probably it's been a couple of months ago that
- 5:44Speaker 5: that auction took place and they purchased. I do know
- 5:47Speaker 5: there's some other local businesses that tried to purchase and
- 5:50Speaker 5: they were outbid by Gomart Okay. So it's gonna be
- 5:53Speaker 5: like a go Mart travel plaza.
- 5:55Speaker 2: That's the plan. I mean, like that's like a like
- 5:57Speaker 2: a like like a big facility.
- 5:59Speaker 5: Here right stand. We have not seen plans. They are
- 6:04Speaker 5: planning to close the current location, which is outdated and
- 6:08Speaker 5: has a lot of issues with you know with vagrance
- 6:13Speaker 5: and people walk in the lots, so we will get one,
- 6:18Speaker 5: get rid of one eye sore, and hopefully build a
- 6:21Speaker 5: state of the art facility that will attract travelers coming
- 6:26Speaker 5: off the turnpike. I've been told that the Go Mart
- 6:32Speaker 5: is putting the same type of travel plaza at the
- 6:35Speaker 5: other end of the turnpike. I would assume down towards
- 6:38Speaker 5: winter Place area, so they would have two plausas at
- 6:44Speaker 5: each end of the turnpike, But unfortunately I don't. We
- 6:48Speaker 5: haven't seen the plan, right, yeah, or cautiously. I've said
- 6:52Speaker 5: this all day yesterday when I started getting all the
- 6:55Speaker 5: social media messages and cautiously optimistic of go Mart putting
- 7:01Speaker 5: in a facility at Stay of the art, but does
- 7:03Speaker 5: not affect the residential areas that are in that area,
- 7:07Speaker 5: that part of Kanas City, because Kanas States is directly
- 7:12Speaker 5: across across mccorkor Avenue from the current kmart building.
- 7:15Speaker 4: We're talking to Chad Robinson and Charles City Council, so
- 7:18Speaker 4: I guess it's too early to ask for a timeline
- 7:20Speaker 4: or anything like that because we don't really know anything.
- 7:22Speaker 5: We don't know anything, and we know the same thing
- 7:25Speaker 5: we know today as we did last week, but because
- 7:28Speaker 5: of a social media post, everyone's all up in arms
- 7:32Speaker 5: about this. Now we after remind everybody this was a
- 7:35Speaker 5: business to business purchase. I mean, the City of Charleston
- 7:39Speaker 5: cannot do anything with that purchase unless they're going to
- 7:43Speaker 5: sell or provide services outside the zoning ordinance, right, or
- 7:48Speaker 5: if they.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Don't pay their taxes or something like that.
- 7:50Speaker 5: I mean that may be like me coming into your
- 7:52Speaker 5: house and saying, hey, we don't want you to do this, this,
- 7:54Speaker 5: and this and try to regulate your private home.
- 7:57Speaker 2: We can't do that.
- 7:58Speaker 4: Yeah, as long as you're doing everything, you know, as
- 8:01Speaker 4: you said, this is one of the questions that we
- 8:02Speaker 4: get all the time about the town Center. You know,
- 8:04Speaker 4: when I've got the mayor and others on here, people say, well,
- 8:06Speaker 4: the cities should do that, and I know the city's
- 8:08Speaker 4: and negotiations they have when with the whole group. But
- 8:11Speaker 4: I mean, one of one of the biggest complaints I
- 8:14Speaker 4: guess that I have from people was people would say, well,
- 8:17Speaker 4: how did the city let it get Well, the city
- 8:18Speaker 4: didn't let it get that way. It's a private business
- 8:21Speaker 4: and as long as they are paying taxes and they're
- 8:23Speaker 4: doing everything, But you can't tell a business what they
- 8:26Speaker 4: can and can't do.
- 8:26Speaker 2: That's exactly right.
- 8:27Speaker 5: I mean, we have to abide by the rule of
- 8:31Speaker 5: law and allow transaction to take place unless they go
- 8:35Speaker 5: outside the box. And this is a business to business purchase.
- 8:40Speaker 5: I do know that they're in negotiations with certain restaurants
- 8:45Speaker 5: to include in that plaza two or three different restaurants
- 8:50Speaker 5: we don't have around the Kanaal Valley. Hopefully it also
- 8:54Speaker 5: will attract travelers coming off the interstate to purchase gas,
- 9:01Speaker 5: purchase things in the store, food and beverages. Yes, that's
- 9:07Speaker 5: that's good thing for Charleston for beingo and visitors. But
- 9:11Speaker 5: we do have to be you know, let's be careful
- 9:14Speaker 5: how we put a business in a resid a somewhat
- 9:18Speaker 5: of a residential area that has other businesses in there
- 9:21Speaker 5: in the same vicinity.
- 9:24Speaker 2: The Dave Island showing five D line bronch to you

- 9:29Speaker 2: a building, Pinnacle provides clear answers. They specialize and as

- 9:37Speaker 2: Learn more. Pinnacle corp dot Net helping you understand your
- 9:40Speaker 2: environment because what you don't know can hurts you. Well,
- 9:42Speaker 2: let's talk about the businesses that are in Kanas City
- 9:44Speaker 2: right now, the ones that are there and the residents.
- 9:46Speaker 2: What's new in Kanas City.
- 9:48Speaker 5: I'm glad you asked we You know, we we started
- 9:50Speaker 5: the Charleston Urber Works July twenty twenty five, and you
- 9:55Speaker 5: know now we're branding now, we're starting to talk about
- 9:58Speaker 5: events we're starting. We've already had ribbon cuttings for three
- 10:03Speaker 5: locations and others coming. We're getting wing stops coming. It
- 10:09Speaker 5: should be opened soon. Chipotle building is going up and
- 10:13Speaker 5: there's another building in between Chipotle and Appleby's going into
- 10:17Speaker 5: So hopefully that's going to attract new people to Kanas City.
- 10:20Speaker 5: But the new urban works that you and I have
- 10:22Speaker 5: talked about with Rick Cavender had Rick on the show
- 10:25Speaker 5: last Friday talking about a little bit and it's going great.
- 10:27Speaker 5: We meet every month to how we can attract businesses,
- 10:30Speaker 5: how we can have events in Kanas City to bring
- 10:34Speaker 5: back those businesses, local businesses, corporate business and anything that
- 10:39Speaker 5: we can bring back to Kano City that benefits our area.
- 10:42Speaker 5: That's what we're trying to do, and that's what the
- 10:45Speaker 5: mayor has allowed us to take some money and create
- 10:50Speaker 5: a position with Charleston Nervan works to help in that endeavor.
- 10:54Speaker 2: You know, you have been on Charleton City Council for
- 10:56Speaker 2: how long now? Seven years?
- 10:57Speaker 4: Okay, seven years, and you're running again for relation but
- 11:00Speaker 4: you don't you don't have opposition.
- 11:01Speaker 2: That's correct.
- 11:02Speaker 4: Doesn't mean that people have to vote for you, though,
- 11:04Speaker 4: So I'm gonna give you a little opportunity. Think everybody
- 11:06Speaker 4: could just stay home, you'd get one vote.
- 11:08Speaker 2: It could be you.
- 11:08Speaker 5: Okay, well hopefully my kids would are they are they
- 11:12Speaker 5: old enough to vote for Yeah, they're old enough. They
- 11:14Speaker 5: might not.
- 11:15Speaker 2: We'll see de bit Son. How good you are at
- 11:17Speaker 2: in the day.
- 11:18Speaker 4: But talk about you know, your time on city council
- 11:21Speaker 4: and why you continue to do this because you get
- 11:23Speaker 4: other things going on in your life. And I know
- 11:25Speaker 4: sometimes some cities, including Charleston, have had difficulty getting people
- 11:29Speaker 4: to want to run for office. Why did you run
- 11:31Speaker 4: in the first place, and what is it that keeps
- 11:33Speaker 4: you coming back?
- 11:34Speaker 5: You know, I was the president of local softball and
- 11:39Speaker 5: baseball little League for long time, for ten over ten years,
- 11:41Speaker 5: I was Kanall City youth basketball president for a long time.
- 11:45Speaker 5: And the kids. You know, we all of our kids
- 11:48Speaker 5: in Kanas City, they need help. Of our kids in
- 11:51Speaker 5: South Park, our kids on the flats. We have to
- 11:53Speaker 5: get them in a better situation than they were before.
- 11:57Speaker 5: And I think over the last seven years we've done
- 11:59Speaker 5: a lot for Charles, not just Canos City, but for
- 12:02Speaker 5: Charleston in general, to bring more businesses, to bring people
- 12:06Speaker 5: back to purchase homes and live here. And that's what's important.
- 12:12Speaker 5: I don't I mean, I don't do it for the money.
- 12:15Speaker 5: You know everyone somebody's told me on the other day
- 12:17Speaker 5: on Facebook, you get paid to come up with ideas.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Well.
- 12:21Speaker 5: Our job is to help fill potholes, pick up your trash,
- 12:25Speaker 5: things of that sort. And that's what I like to do.
- 12:27Speaker 5: I like to help people in Canosity.
- 12:29Speaker 2: I've lived there for over forty years.
- 12:31Speaker 5: And you know it's hard finding people to run and
- 12:36Speaker 5: that want to take on this this job and get
- 12:40Speaker 5: the text and the calls and the social media messages
- 12:44Speaker 5: all the time. And you know, we just have to
- 12:48Speaker 5: find good people that want to do the best for Charleston,
- 12:52Speaker 5: not personal agendas. And we've got to do get work
- 12:55Speaker 5: together everybody step on one foot in front of the
- 12:59Speaker 5: other to try to make Charleston better.
- 13:02Speaker 4: You mentioned because we had a text here it said
- 13:03Speaker 4: Kmart was a business with a residential area across the streets.
- 13:07Speaker 4: So nothing's changed. Glad someone's making use of that property.
- 13:10Speaker 4: According to text, you're somebody who's been in that area
- 13:12Speaker 4: for a long time. And actually, my wife and I
- 13:15Speaker 4: we were watching one of the TV news channels last
- 13:17Speaker 4: night when she saw the story come up there, she said, man,
- 13:20Speaker 4: the amount of time that she spent at that Kmart location.
- 13:24Speaker 4: A lot of people did a lot of memories in
- 13:25Speaker 4: that story.
- 13:26Speaker 5: Yeah, growing up, we've got to Kmart all the time.
- 13:28Speaker 5: And you know what, you have to look at the building.
- 13:33Speaker 5: It's empty. There were individuals getting in, stealing copper, stealing equipment,
- 13:38Speaker 5: stealing things out of it. It's an empty building for
- 13:41Speaker 5: ten years. Do we let it sit empty and just
- 13:45Speaker 5: let the residents and myself decide what to put there,
- 13:48Speaker 5: or do we let a business take come in and
- 13:50Speaker 5: put new led lighting in, putting a new facility, put
- 13:54Speaker 5: a new parking lot, new security. Those are the things
- 13:59Speaker 5: we have to take into account when when a business
- 14:02Speaker 5: purchases another business.
- 14:04Speaker 4: I know you'll keep us updated, and we do have
- 14:07Speaker 4: good news. As far as the traffic situation, it seems
- 14:09Speaker 4: like the traffic project that was going on over there
- 14:11Speaker 4: for like thirty years ever since you moved to Kanas City,
- 14:13Speaker 4: it was going on.
- 14:14Speaker 5: I think it started back in nineteen eighty six. Yeah,
- 14:17Speaker 5: but it went forever. But it looks like we're we
- 14:19Speaker 5: might be done. I think, well, hopefully.
- 14:22Speaker 2: It's a hope.
- 14:23Speaker 5: It's a good situation to come to an end.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of good stuff going on in Kanaha City.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Chant.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I appreciate you being here, my friend. Thanks a lot.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Robinson Charleston City councilor out of Ward twenty. We'll take
- 14:33Speaker 4: a break. Coming up a little bit later on, Rob
- 14:36Speaker 4: Reel is going to join us. You chicken wing gout ched.
- 14:38Speaker 4: You strike me as somebody he'd be a chicken.
- 14:40Speaker 5: We love my chicken wings. I can't wait till wings
- 14:42Speaker 5: stuff comes to Kanas City.
- 14:43Speaker 2: What's your favorite flavor?
- 14:44Speaker 5: I like playing with blue cheese.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Okay, I'm a blue cheese g got too.
- 14:47Speaker 4: The reason I'm bringing this up because Rob Reel from
- 14:49Speaker 4: our sister station, Superstar Country ninety six one KWS is
- 14:52Speaker 4: going out on this tour looking for the best wings around.
- 14:56Speaker 2: I think it's just a way for Robb to get
- 14:57Speaker 2: fed for free. To be honest with you, I think
- 14:59Speaker 2: that's probably what it is. So, but we'll we'll get
- 15:02Speaker 2: a little a little information from him coming up a little
- 15:04Speaker 2: bit later.
- 15:04Speaker 4: On the show, and when we come back. We got
- 15:05Speaker 4: a new voice here. You're gonna be hearing on Metro News.
- 15:07Speaker 4: You're gonna introduce you to him when we come back.

- 16:43Speaker 9: could cut corners on your credit card security, putting your
- 16:46Speaker 9: personal data at risk. Big chain retailers and warehouse stores
- 16:50Speaker 9: want to inflate their profits, and liberal Dick Durbin would
- 16:54Speaker 9: help them do it. Tell senators say no to the
- 16:57Speaker 9: mega stores, and Dick Durbin paid for by the Electronic
- 17:00Speaker 9: Payments Coalition.

- 17:26Speaker 2: be a wanna be Bucky as well. No, not necessarily,
- 17:30Speaker 2: it's going to be a truck stop. That's the plan.
- 17:33Speaker 2: Go and Martin's gonna take that building. They're going to
- 17:35Speaker 2: turn into a big old truck stop. That's the plan.
- 17:38Speaker 2: But again we still don't know when I have a timeline,
- 17:41Speaker 2: We don't know how big it's going to be. Anything
- 17:42Speaker 2: like that.
- 17:43Speaker 4: But there was a lot of buzz going on social
- 17:45Speaker 4: media yesterday, and so that's why I reached out to
- 17:47Speaker 4: the city councilman for that, Aery Chad Robinson, so he
- 17:49Speaker 4: could tell us what he does know about details will
- 17:52Speaker 4: come out.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Guarantee you Bank hotline three zero four three four five
- 17:55Speaker 2: fifty eight fifty eight. Tony the Taylor Text three zero
- 17:58Speaker 2: four nine three five five zero zero. He's a new
- 18:00Speaker 2: voice you can be hearing a lot of on WCCHS
- 18:03Speaker 2: Adventure News Radio Network. Wanted to get to know him
- 18:05Speaker 2: just a little better. His name is Jack Carlson and
- 18:07Speaker 2: he joins us now at the JERI Construction Studios. Good morning, sir,
- 18:10Speaker 2: Welcome to the show.
- 18:11Speaker 10: Thank you, Dave. It's a pleasure to be on with you.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Now give us your background. Where are you from? How
- 18:16Speaker 2: did you get here? Who are you boy?
- 18:18Speaker 10: So I'm a longtime mountaineer. My mom's side of the
- 18:20Speaker 10: family has always lived in West Virginia, and I went
- 18:24Speaker 10: to school out in Iowa at a small Division III school,
- 18:27Speaker 10: Cornell College, which is actually older than the Ivy League
- 18:30Speaker 10: school at Cornell University that everybody knows. But couldn't take
- 18:34Speaker 10: the Mountain State out of my blood. So I'm back
- 18:36Speaker 10: here with you, o al and can't thank Jeff Jenkins
- 18:38Speaker 10: and Hoppy Kerchival enough for the opportunity to join this team.
- 18:41Speaker 2: And you're gonna be doing news sports. I mean, you're
- 18:44Speaker 2: around here. You do a little bit of everything, you know,
- 18:46Speaker 2: so shoveling, shoveling snow on the sidewalk, you know, grilling
- 18:49Speaker 2: out if we eat, You're gonna be doing a little
- 18:51Speaker 2: bit of everything.
- 18:52Speaker 10: Yeah, and maybe pouring some Heinz ketch up on those
- 18:54Speaker 10: burgers or hot dogs if you et.
- 18:56Speaker 2: You do know that around here we do a little
- 18:58Speaker 2: bit of everything, right exactly. Well, was it about this
- 19:01Speaker 2: business that appealed to you? Because you're a relatively young guy,
- 19:03Speaker 2: what was it about this Unfortunately there's not a lot
- 19:05Speaker 2: of younger people don't want to go into this business anymore,
- 19:08Speaker 2: So what was it about this business that appealed to you?
- 19:10Speaker 10: Well, for broadcasting and me, it's always been a love
- 19:13Speaker 10: relationship with me. Back in the days of playing basketball
- 19:17Speaker 10: in my backyard, I'd always be commentating the games in
- 19:19Speaker 10: my head as I would play. And it's just like
- 19:22Speaker 10: every kid, will you go out in the driveway and
- 19:24Speaker 10: put up hoops and envision yourself hitting the game winning shot.
- 19:27Speaker 10: I'd be commentating during that point. I got connected with
- 19:30Speaker 10: Tony Curedi when I was twelve years old. Made my
- 19:32Speaker 10: debut on the radio at that point and ill you
- 19:35Speaker 10: made your debut twelve years old, And he actually gave
- 19:38Speaker 10: me my nickname, Jumpin' Jack at that point and it's
- 19:41Speaker 10: stuck ever since. So if you ever hear me refer
- 19:44Speaker 10: to as jumpin Jack, I've helped out with three guys
- 19:46Speaker 10: before the game that podcast that's me jumping do.
- 19:50Speaker 2: What did him you doing at twelve?
- 19:53Speaker 10: I don't know. I mean while I was on there,
- 19:55Speaker 10: he just would interview me about just I guess you
- 19:59Speaker 10: saw something in me because at that point. So that's
- 20:02Speaker 10: funny story as to how I got on the radio.
- 20:04Speaker 10: I was actually interested in going to the sports broadcasting
- 20:08Speaker 10: seminar that was down on the waterfront in Morgantown and
- 20:11Speaker 10: they had Dave Pash there, Lenny for Terry, and Tony
- 20:14Speaker 10: Credi as the three speakers. All turns out that event
- 20:17Speaker 10: was for college students who were interested in sports broadcasting.
- 20:20Speaker 10: But at that point, my mom and I had both
- 20:22Speaker 10: identified that as something that I wanted to do, and
- 20:25Speaker 10: so we tried to see about registering for that. Tony
- 20:28Speaker 10: caught wind of it. Obviously I couldn't go to the
- 20:30Speaker 10: seminar because I was twelve years old, and he said,
- 20:32Speaker 10: why don't you come on into our studio. I was
- 20:35Speaker 10: at the old studio in Saberton and then I just
- 20:38Speaker 10: have stayed in contact with Tony and Brad and Hoppy
- 20:41Speaker 10: ever since.
- 20:41Speaker 4: So basically, Tony put you to work violating every child
- 20:44Speaker 4: labor law in the world, that is what you're saying.
- 20:46Speaker 10: I don't think so. No, I don't think we need
- 20:48Speaker 10: to incriminate Tony on anything. But yeah, I can't thank
- 20:53Speaker 10: Tony and Brad and Happy enough. Because I had the
- 20:55Speaker 10: opportunity to help as a video producer at Metro News
- 20:59Speaker 10: in Morgantown the summer of twenty twenty three. I learned
- 21:02Speaker 10: from the best Taylor Kennedy, who is now down here
- 21:04Speaker 10: in Charlestown, and he helped me with the production element
- 21:09Speaker 10: of it. And then when he had this opportunity to
- 21:11Speaker 10: come down to Charleston, I actually took over for Taylor
- 21:14Speaker 10: for a couple of months span as the producer and
- 21:17Speaker 10: got to work with Tony and Brad and Hoppey and
- 21:20Speaker 10: coach Hunter. And the way those guys operate is the
- 21:23Speaker 10: way that I want to operate too. It's nothing less
- 21:26Speaker 10: than perfection, is that's the standard.
- 21:28Speaker 4: So here's what I've learned about people in radio. I
- 21:32Speaker 4: know very very few people that are in the radio
- 21:35Speaker 4: business that just kind of fell into it. Most of us.
- 21:40Speaker 4: My wife referred to it as the sickness, most of it.
- 21:43Speaker 4: I have the sickness from an early early age, you know.
- 21:47Speaker 4: And it was the same with me. Dale Cooper's produced him.
- 21:49Speaker 4: I'm sure it was the same with Dale. I mean
- 21:51Speaker 4: I was the same as you. I was, you know,
- 21:53Speaker 4: broadcasting Little League games to nobody and just the voices.
- 21:56Speaker 2: In my end.
- 21:58Speaker 4: And all of us wanted to do this from the
- 22:01Speaker 4: time we were kids. And I've never had a person
- 22:05Speaker 4: that maybe I have, like I'll give you a quick
- 22:07Speaker 4: story now, i'll get back to you. A couple of
- 22:10Speaker 4: years ago, I ran into my kindergarten teacher, Okay, hadn't
- 22:13Speaker 4: seen her in forever, uh, And she knew what I
- 22:18Speaker 4: was doing because she'd followed me on social media and
- 22:19Speaker 4: she heard me. She actually lives in the Charleston area now,
- 22:21Speaker 4: and she said, I always knew that you were going
- 22:25Speaker 4: to get paid to run your mouth, and I was like, well, thanks,
- 22:29Speaker 4: miss Heatherman, I think okay, But I mean, you know,
- 22:34Speaker 4: all of us that do this have ninety nine point
- 22:39Speaker 4: nine percent of the time, it's something we always wanted
- 22:40Speaker 4: to do in some way or fashion, you know, not
- 22:44Speaker 4: everybody on the air, some people behind the scenes, some
- 22:46Speaker 4: people doing a little bit of both. I will give
- 22:47Speaker 4: you some friendly advice, though. Hang out with the good
- 22:50Speaker 4: people in this building, all right. Hang out with your
- 22:54Speaker 4: Jeff Jenkins's and your Morgan's and your the Unless you
- 22:57Speaker 4: hang out with people like me and Steve Animal and
- 23:00Speaker 4: Rob Reel and Shockley. That's probably the best advice I'm
- 23:03Speaker 4: gonna give you for an impressionable young man.
- 23:06Speaker 10: Okay, I'll try and keep that in mind.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Keep keep with the with the good people. Don't not
- 23:10Speaker 2: not with people like me, but Dave Island chilling five
- 23:12Speaker 2: any line brought to you part by your hometown baseball team,
- 23:15Speaker 2: The Charles. The Dirty Birds.
- 23:16Speaker 4: Single game tickets and season tickets are on sale now
- 23:18Speaker 4: at the website and get you checkets for the May
- 23:20Speaker 4: fifth WVU Marshall game visit Dirtybirds baseball dot com. Obviously,
- 23:24Speaker 4: you're a big Mountaineer fan us.
- 23:26Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, you'd live it and breathe it.
- 23:27Speaker 2: I guess right.
- 23:28Speaker 10: Yeah, I've kind of had to separate myself from being
- 23:32Speaker 10: a die hard fan because of the die hard fan.
- 23:35Speaker 10: In twenty sixteen, when Buddy Healed hit the shot for
- 23:38Speaker 10: Oklahoma to beat the Mountaineers men's basketball team in Kansas City,
- 23:42Speaker 10: I was howling on the ground, couldn't believe that it
- 23:45Speaker 10: had gone in, and of course they disallowed the shot
- 23:48Speaker 10: a little bit later, but younger Jack was not having that.
- 23:51Speaker 10: So it was at that point that I had to
- 23:53Speaker 10: take a little bit of a step back. But man,
- 23:55Speaker 10: I love my Mountaineers, and yeah, hoping for some good
- 23:59Speaker 10: things with this baseball team. Great weekend series against Arizona
- 24:03Speaker 10: stage they got it rolling, and yeah, hopefully they played.
- 24:06Speaker 4: They played on national television the other night. And what's
- 24:09Speaker 4: in the rankings. I think I just saw that passed.
- 24:11Speaker 2: They got off to thirteen thirteen. I was gonna say
- 24:13Speaker 2: thirteen fifteen something like that in the ranking. That's pretty good,
- 24:15Speaker 2: because I mean, Mountaineer baseball has always has always been good.
- 24:19Speaker 2: But you don't always I mean, I'm being honest, you don't.
- 24:22Speaker 2: You don't always think of them every year on a
- 24:24Speaker 2: national level being good.
- 24:26Speaker 10: I agree because I would go to baseball games at
- 24:29Speaker 10: WVU when I was growing up, when they first moved
- 24:31Speaker 10: into the then Montingelia County Ballpark, and there were some
- 24:35Speaker 10: lean years there, especially in the Holly Holly Field days,
- 24:38Speaker 10: which Randy Mazy then moved into the Montingelia County Ballpark,
- 24:42Speaker 10: and then once they got that regional there, when Alec
- 24:45Speaker 10: Mino was pitching in twenty nineteen, he just got it rolling.
- 24:49Speaker 10: And then it's Steve sabins Man. He's picked up the
- 24:52Speaker 10: baton and taken it to heights that I don't think
- 24:54Speaker 10: many Mountaineer fans thought were possible.
- 24:56Speaker 2: And the Mountaineer women had a great season as.
- 24:58Speaker 10: Well, absolutely, and just a tough way to lose to Kentucky,
- 25:02Speaker 10: but man, they left it all out there on the floor,
- 25:04Speaker 10: and all those seniors, Mimi Wheeler, Jordan Harris and Sydney
- 25:09Speaker 10: Shaw their impact on the program. And Mark Kellogg is
- 25:13Speaker 10: a special coach. So the Mountaineers are very thankful that
- 25:15Speaker 10: they have them all right.
- 25:17Speaker 4: And there's some good things going because I got to
- 25:18Speaker 4: get a little plug in from my album Water Marshall,
- 25:20Speaker 4: there's some good things going on there. The women have
- 25:22Speaker 4: advanced to the final four.
- 25:23Speaker 10: Of yesterday that they blanked Army in the fourth fourth quarter.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Army didn't score will in the fourth quarter. That a
- 25:30Speaker 2: little bit later on.
- 25:31Speaker 10: That's what Mark Kellogg and his Mountaineers women have done
- 25:34Speaker 10: with several teams Houston and Cincinnati.
- 25:36Speaker 4: So Marshall was actually trailing at one point in that game,
- 25:38Speaker 4: and they came back to blank him in the fourth quarter.
- 25:40Speaker 2: To advance. They go, they go out to I think
- 25:42Speaker 2: it's Central Arkansas.
- 25:44Speaker 10: I think Sun Belt match up.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, And so they played again tomorrow night. So
- 25:49Speaker 2: good stuff the all right.
- 25:49Speaker 4: So something I started jack when I got When we
- 25:53Speaker 4: get new people here, I play a little game. Okay,
- 25:55Speaker 4: it's called ten questions, all right, Ten totally random questions
- 26:00Speaker 4: get to know you a little bit better. Please verify
- 26:03Speaker 4: that you have not seen the questions ahead of time.
- 26:05Speaker 10: I have not seen the questions before this right now,
- 26:09Speaker 10: I mean I have no idea what's coming.
- 26:10Speaker 2: All right, and settle in. These questions were developed in
- 26:13Speaker 2: a lab near Amandeville. And for our listeners, please do
- 26:17Speaker 2: not try this at home. And as always, no wagery.

- 27:16Speaker 2: of a childhood pet.
- 27:18Speaker 10: I didn't have any pets growing up.
- 27:20Speaker 2: Oh, okay, weirdo? Okay, who would win a fist fight
- 27:25Speaker 2: between Chris Lawrence and Jeff Jenkins?
- 27:27Speaker 10: Jeff Jenkins?

- 27:44Speaker 10: I will say, if you're going dog versus cat, I'm

- 28:00Speaker 2: Well, we'll get a cat because cats are goldfish are
- 28:03Speaker 2: the thing.

- 32:28Speaker 4: Good afternoon, good morning, good Hello, how are you hello, Mary.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Good evening, good morning, good evening, and good night. Whatever
- 32:33Speaker 2: it is. It all began on a small, five thousand
- 32:35Speaker 2: watt radio station, Fresno, California. Don't you think a lot
- 32:39Speaker 2: of called to the Ted night impersonation. Yeah, yeah, don't
- 32:44Speaker 2: I think. No, I know, I just had a caddyshack. Well,
- 32:48Speaker 2: there we were waiting. Now there you go. I was thinking, here,
- 32:53Speaker 2: have a fresca. Yeah, how about a fresco? Are you
- 32:56Speaker 2: my pal Danny? I could do the Yes, you ask
- 33:02Speaker 2: Jack what Despicable Me? How young is he? I don't.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Bless his heart? I don't even know what that is.
- 33:08Speaker 2: That's that's the that's the Steve Carell animated, that's the minions.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Dominions come from. Despicable Me. Bless his heart? Well, I
- 33:16Speaker 2: mean he's so easy young he is.
- 33:18Speaker 4: I mean, you don't you weren't expecting him to come
- 33:21Speaker 4: in here and you know, and say something from like
- 33:23Speaker 4: the nineteen six.
- 33:23Speaker 2: No, I was not expecting Citizen Kings. But I was
- 33:26Speaker 2: also not expecting Despicable Me. In all seriousness, it is
- 33:33Speaker 2: it is energizing to see somebody young, fresh out of college,
- 33:37Speaker 2: who is excited about being here doing this radio thing. Yeah,
- 33:41Speaker 2: and he's not yet completely jaded like we are. Well
- 33:45Speaker 2: we'll get him there. He'll work on that.
- 33:48Speaker 12: Ye.
- 33:49Speaker 2: So would you agree with what I said earlier though,
- 33:51Speaker 2: that very few of us fall into this business. I mean,
- 33:54Speaker 2: I've I've met very few people that at thirty five said, well,
- 33:58Speaker 2: now they may have gotten the sales aspect of it,
- 34:01Speaker 2: or maybe even the engineering aspect of but very few
- 34:03Speaker 2: on air people that I've met later in love said
- 34:06Speaker 2: I didn't really want to be on the radio or television.
- 34:08Speaker 2: It just kind of happened. I would say it's a
- 34:13Speaker 2: mixed bag because I know a fair number of receptionists
- 34:17Speaker 2: with personality who ended up on the radio. Long time
- 34:22Speaker 2: ago to radio station far far away Columbia, jeff City, Missouri.
- 34:27Speaker 2: I was working at a group of stations and we
- 34:30Speaker 2: had a Jennifer Marlowe if you will, fellows of a
- 34:35Speaker 2: certain age know exactly what I mean. And it turned
- 34:38Speaker 2: out that she was a rabbid NFL fan, and that
- 34:44Speaker 2: quickly turned into and very good at prognosticating, and so
- 34:48Speaker 2: it soon turned into a bit of bringing her on
- 34:51Speaker 2: the show as Asia the immaculate receptionist. And I know
- 34:57Speaker 2: a number of women who's rear began at the front desk,
- 35:01Speaker 2: and they, because you know, they had a sense of
- 35:05Speaker 2: humor and quick comebacks, ended up ended up sitting where
- 35:08Speaker 2: we are.
- 35:08Speaker 4: Not a lot of dudes really hadn't thought about it,
- 35:10Speaker 4: but yeah, I'll give you an example. Somebody who kind
- 35:13Speaker 4: of fell into it later was my guest every Monday,
- 35:15Speaker 4: former Mayor Danny Jones Affairs. You know, Danny had done
- 35:18Speaker 4: a variety of things from grave digger to restaurant cook, uh,
- 35:22Speaker 4: fellow fellow marine and uh and uh, and he kind
- 35:25Speaker 4: of just ended up in radio. And but that's I
- 35:29Speaker 4: think most of us had this sickness.
- 35:30Speaker 2: From from like birth. Yeah, there there's a I call
- 35:34Speaker 2: it lambs look at me syndrome or in our case,
- 35:37Speaker 2: listen to me syndrome. So yeah, I feel you all right?
- 35:41Speaker 2: All right? So what uh, what do you mean by
- 35:43Speaker 2: winging it? So last fall, truck Norris and I went
- 35:49Speaker 2: out looking for great burgers in West Virginia. Just it was.
- 35:53Speaker 2: It was a way to get out and see folks
- 35:55Speaker 2: and maybe go to some new towns, certainly go to
- 35:57Speaker 2: some new eateries and meet some new meet some new people.
- 36:01Speaker 2: And we had so much fun. I'm like, well, okay,
- 36:03Speaker 2: I want to do it again, but I don't want
- 36:05Speaker 2: to do burgers again. Burgers are great, but well we'll
- 36:08Speaker 2: come up with something. We'll just wing it. And there
- 36:10Speaker 2: it was. It was, so we're looking for great Chicken
- 36:14Speaker 2: Wings in West Virginia. And they're really only two rules
- 36:20Speaker 2: when it comes to this rules, I've made this whole
- 36:22Speaker 2: thing up myself. So rules schmools. I don't want like
- 36:27Speaker 2: two places next to one another. So I want to
- 36:30Speaker 2: try to spread things around geographically. And I don't want
- 36:32Speaker 2: to go back to any of the burger places, not
- 36:35Speaker 2: because they weren't great. Tailor made and Frostby Dairy Bar
- 36:39Speaker 2: and Creakers and Brooksy's were all fantastic, but I want
- 36:43Speaker 2: to get some new blood out there. Part of why
- 36:46Speaker 2: we want to do this, I remember, remember six years
- 36:50Speaker 2: ago when the world shut down and all of those chains,
- 36:54Speaker 2: which they are great in their own right, they wouldn't
- 36:56Speaker 2: be chains if they if they didn't have something going,
- 36:59Speaker 2: but they were all in a position to absorb, to
- 37:03Speaker 2: take the hit. Really yeah, so many mom and pops,
- 37:06Speaker 2: so many family restaurants, so many local eateries and pubs
- 37:11Speaker 2: died on the vine because they couldn't serve customers. And
- 37:16Speaker 2: so ever since I have been big on what local
- 37:19Speaker 2: places can we highlight. Let's let's let's find some local
- 37:22Speaker 2: restaurateurs and shine the light on them, show them the
- 37:26Speaker 2: power of radio show. Folks, the great grub that they've
- 37:30Speaker 2: got at their place and maybe drive some more folks
- 37:33Speaker 2: into their doors. That's the whole idea. That's the whole point.
- 37:35Speaker 2: And to have fun, to have Shenanigans, to get out
- 37:37Speaker 2: and get get out and cost trouble and eat some
- 37:39Speaker 2: chicken wings. Well yeah, I mean, anybody who's seen me
- 37:42Speaker 2: knows I like my way around food. Do you have
- 37:45Speaker 2: a favorite variety of wing? It depends on if I'm
- 37:51Speaker 2: in the mood for hot or not. The older I get,
- 37:54Speaker 2: the less often I mean in the hot mood. So
- 37:58Speaker 2: it happens to the best of it.
- 38:00Speaker 5: Uh.
- 38:00Speaker 2: So, you know, I'll go lemon gar like or barbecue
- 38:04Speaker 2: on on those days. But I don't like being hot
- 38:08Speaker 2: for the sake of hot. Right. There's a former chain
- 38:12Speaker 2: that used to have a sauce called three Mile Island,
- 38:15Speaker 2: and when that wasn't hot enough for folks, they came
- 38:18Speaker 2: up with six Mile Island. That's just that's just Carolina
- 38:21Speaker 2: ghost pepper raw for the sake of That's not for me.
- 38:24Speaker 2: You kind of have flavor. Yeah, if if your hot
- 38:27Speaker 2: brings a little zip, little zing, a little flavor to it,
- 38:29Speaker 2: then then we're down. I agree, But I went to
- 38:32Speaker 2: I've told this story before the listeners. Rob I went
- 38:34Speaker 2: to one of these chains one time.
- 38:38Speaker 4: Buddies might have been to a baseball game and I
- 38:40Speaker 4: went to a We went to a wing place afterwards,
- 38:43Speaker 4: and my guy that was with me may have had
- 38:46Speaker 4: a cocktail or twelve.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Maybe he wasn't driving, by the way.
- 38:49Speaker 4: There you go and U and he he said, I
- 38:51Speaker 4: want the hottest wings that you have.
- 38:54Speaker 2: And we were like, now, I don't know if you
- 38:55Speaker 2: want to do this. He goes, no, he so I
- 38:57Speaker 2: want the And so they brought out this con tract
- 39:00Speaker 2: that you had to sign, and where I was the
- 39:02Speaker 2: sober one, I had to sign as a witness. Okay,
- 39:06Speaker 2: uh huh. Generally speaking, Robert, my rule of thumb is
- 39:11Speaker 2: food should not involve paperwork. Correct. There should not be
- 39:14Speaker 2: a contract here if any of my lawyer, No, I
- 39:18Speaker 2: had to sign it as a sober witness. Uh and uh.
- 39:22Speaker 4: And he ate the wings, and I thought he was
- 39:23Speaker 4: gonna die, and I'm gonna have to go, you know, explain,
- 39:26Speaker 4: you know, to his loved one. Well, we went to
- 39:28Speaker 4: the ballgame with five guys, we only came back with four.
- 39:31Speaker 2: Well, yeah, and that's a situation where one could suffer,
- 39:34Speaker 2: not just once, not just twice, but perhaps thrice. The
- 39:38Speaker 2: gift that keeps on gifting. Yeah, all right, so yeah,
- 39:40Speaker 2: that that's not what I'm I'm after taste. I'm after atmosphere.
- 39:44Speaker 2: Uh you know, they tried to put a wing joint
- 39:46Speaker 2: on the Moon. Food was great, but no atmosphere. The
- 39:49Speaker 2: uh you know, so the the ambiance, the small town,
- 39:52Speaker 2: the folks, the food, that's what we're looking for. And
- 39:55Speaker 2: so so you're not you don't want chains? Is that
- 39:57Speaker 2: what you're saying? Chains are great, but that's not what
- 40:00Speaker 2: we're looking forms. And they employ a lot of people,
- 40:03Speaker 2: And I get and I get that. Yeah, I'm not
- 40:05Speaker 2: knocking the b dubs of the world, right because I'll
- 40:08Speaker 2: go there for but I'm thinking more you know, your
- 40:11Speaker 2: mom and your pop, your your family restaurant, your local pub,
- 40:15Speaker 2: your cafe. Kind of a place that's right, And there's
- 40:17Speaker 2: plenty of them here in Charleston and in the surrounding.
- 40:19Speaker 2: And how far out are you willing to go?
- 40:20Speaker 4: Because some of those places on your burger tour weren't
- 40:23Speaker 4: exactly like one town.
- 40:24Speaker 2: Oh, I would say, Creekers is in Hearts. It was
- 40:26Speaker 2: an hour to get there and worth it, by the way,
- 40:29Speaker 2: So I'm willing to travel as long as the weather's behaving.
- 40:33Speaker 2: So each Thursday morning is when we'll announce where we're
- 40:36Speaker 2: headed the next Tuesday. We go on Tuesdays for lunchtime,
- 40:40Speaker 2: and so if you know, if it's a ninety minute drive,
- 40:44Speaker 2: I'm off the air officially at ten o'clock, hop in
- 40:46Speaker 2: truck Norris after my meeting, off we go, and I
- 40:49Speaker 2: can be there by noon. All right, all right? And
- 40:52Speaker 2: how do you feel about boneless wings? Okay, I know
- 40:55Speaker 2: people take heat on boneless wings just being oversized nuggets.
- 40:59Speaker 2: I guess it. But they're neater I can. I can
- 41:02Speaker 2: eat boneless wings with a knife and fork and not
- 41:04Speaker 2: go home a sticky mess. So I'm okay with the
- 41:08Speaker 2: boneless wings. I'm okay with them.
- 41:10Speaker 4: So some people wing officionados will say that they're just
- 41:12Speaker 4: nuggets at that point, okay, yeah, but I'm with you.
- 41:17Speaker 2: If they're good, does it matter, right, Okay, I don't
- 41:21Speaker 2: have to go bone in Okay.
- 41:23Speaker 4: So how do people reach out to you about this?
- 41:26Speaker 4: Because we did this, you rely on ideas from peace.
- 41:29Speaker 2: So so yeah, I'm looking for all the suggestions on
- 41:32Speaker 2: where to go flying down the country Roads for wings.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Go to the ninety six to one k WS Facebook page.
- 41:38Speaker 2: You will see a lovely cartoon of me behind a
- 41:41Speaker 2: giant plate of chicken wings, which is how I hope
- 41:43Speaker 2: this thing's going to look the whole time. And just
- 41:46Speaker 2: looking for suggestions. If you've got a favorite place, tell
- 41:49Speaker 2: tell me all about it. Tag them if you can,
- 41:52Speaker 2: because that makes them even easier to find. And we'll
- 41:57Speaker 2: pick out the first one Thursday morning and head down
- 42:00Speaker 2: there the following Tuesday, and then the Thursday after that
- 42:02Speaker 2: in the next place, and so on and so forth.
- 42:04Speaker 2: The entire month of April we had a couple of texts. Honestly,
- 42:07Speaker 2: the best breaded wings are from Gino's in South Charleston.
- 42:11Speaker 2: As for flavored, tried Little Caesar's Garlic Parmesan and dip
- 42:14Speaker 2: your crazy bread in the saw and I have done.
- 42:17Speaker 2: I've done both of those again, Little Caesar's, Gino's, beat Ubs,
- 42:22Speaker 2: the chains do great stuff, very consistent, by the way.
- 42:24Speaker 2: For you're somebody who travels as much as I do,
- 42:27Speaker 2: having that kind of consistency is important. But I you know,
- 42:29Speaker 2: I want to find that that joint, that hole in
- 42:33Speaker 2: the wall. I say those terms affection sure, Yeah, you
- 42:36Speaker 2: know the kind of place where I grew up. You know,
- 42:39Speaker 2: I grew up in a town where it says welcome
- 42:40Speaker 2: to here on both sides of the same sign. You know,
- 42:43Speaker 2: a one horse town, so small. The one horse is
- 42:44Speaker 2: a Shetland pony. But we had a really good well,
- 42:48Speaker 2: it was Bob's tavern when I was a kid. It's
- 42:50Speaker 2: not that anymore. That had just extraordinary food, and you
- 42:55Speaker 2: would it was the kind of place you wouldn't want
- 42:57Speaker 2: the health department to come in and look too closely.
- 43:00Speaker 2: But I think that's why the food tastes as good
- 43:02Speaker 2: as it did. So I'm just saying Texas. Dave Creuton
- 43:07Speaker 2: says that his hometown of Saint Albans says the best
- 43:09Speaker 2: chicken wings get the tie chili dipped and grilled with
- 43:12Speaker 2: ranch dressing at the cafe. You and I have had.
- 43:17Speaker 2: I have wanged at the cafe. I don't know that
- 43:20Speaker 2: I've tried all the flavors. I've tried a few, so.
- 43:22Speaker 4: I think you and I destroyed just a giant plate
- 43:24Speaker 4: of hot wings with an animal. Yes, so and Crewton,
- 43:27Speaker 4: by the way, that's our that's my my my celebrity
- 43:30Speaker 4: dog that I got adopted that's been turned out to
- 43:33Speaker 4: be the best. What my Friday segment I do the
- 43:35Speaker 4: adopt me of the week. Uh So he was over
- 43:38Speaker 4: at the shelter during his salad days. He had the
- 43:41Speaker 4: name Creuton and he demanded to be called that from
- 43:44Speaker 4: what I understand, and Crewton has become a social media
- 43:47Speaker 4: celebrity now the Chronicles of Creuton. So uh uh but yeah,
- 43:50Speaker 4: I would agree with the cafe. Is Cruton a little crusty?
- 43:54Speaker 2: Is that I'm ignoring everything you think? Uh?
- 43:56Speaker 4: Because they got to wrap this segment up, I will
- 43:58Speaker 4: say another another great price because I'm going to give
- 44:01Speaker 4: you a couple. I agree with the person that said
- 44:03Speaker 4: that about Geno's. I know Genoes is a chain, but
- 44:05Speaker 4: they're a West Virginia based chain, so there's that their
- 44:08Speaker 4: naked wings are very good and to dip them into
- 44:11Speaker 4: a sauce, they're very good. Yes, another great place that
- 44:14Speaker 4: don't sleep on Eleanor Barbecue in h Yeah, Hurricane, you
- 44:18Speaker 4: and I had this there at Eleanor Barbecue.
- 44:21Speaker 2: I think we got like the big platter and there
- 44:23Speaker 2: were a couple of wings on there. So yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 44:27Speaker 2: I'm I'm I'm game for all of it. All right.
- 44:29Speaker 2: Uh Anti Pearls honeypot in South Charleston. I've not tried
- 44:33Speaker 2: anti pearls yet. There you go, all right, there you go?
- 44:36Speaker 4: Okay, Uh Fireside that's Tayese Valley Bone in Tropical Hobbin Niero.
- 44:41Speaker 2: Sauce Tropical Hobbinnio. That's an interesting combination. If I correct myself.
- 44:48Speaker 4: The Geno's in South Charleston is independent, family owned, so
- 44:51Speaker 4: I will I'll correct myself on that. A lot of
- 44:54Speaker 4: the Genos and Giovanni's are that way that there.
- 44:56Speaker 2: And when I say chain, I don't necessarily mean corporate.
- 44:59Speaker 2: Oh and o, I do mean a franchise debris.
- 45:03Speaker 4: I gotta like you, all right, So people go to
- 45:05Speaker 4: the ninety six one KWS facebook pages, give Rob your
- 45:09Speaker 4: suggestions and how many what days a week are you
- 45:11Speaker 4: gonna go out?
- 45:11Speaker 2: We'll announce on Thursdays. We'll hit the road on Tuesdays,
- 45:15Speaker 2: so the following Tuesday. All right, Coop, what's your favorite wing?
- 45:19Speaker 2: Are you be in a position to tell us here
- 45:21Speaker 2: before we go to break? I'm sorry I kind of
- 45:23Speaker 2: cut him off guard that he's working in there. That's
- 45:25Speaker 2: all right. I like I like draw wings and I
- 45:27Speaker 2: like to put my diffitement, my own sauces.
- 45:29Speaker 4: Okay, there you go. Okay, it's all right, Rob. We'll
- 45:33Speaker 4: be listening up real early, yes, sir, all right.

- 48:27Speaker 2: increase in gas and diesel costs cost and increase in
- 48:31Speaker 2: grocery costs and increase in restaurant cost. Airlines already raising
- 48:34Speaker 2: fees to offset rising fuel costs. So when is conservative
- 48:37Speaker 2: media going to start treating this like you all did
- 48:39Speaker 2: in twenty twenty two. Well, appreciate the text. I don't
- 48:44Speaker 2: know necessariy who you're referring to on conservative media, but
- 48:49Speaker 2: I can tell you I obviously am very disappointed in
- 48:53Speaker 2: prices because, well you know, I work for a living
- 48:56Speaker 2: and don't like to pay too much, and we have
- 48:58Speaker 2: a president that ran on lowering prices and it didn't happen.
- 49:03Speaker 2: And my advice to the president would have been, it
- 49:06Speaker 2: was a time don't run on lowering prices because you're
- 49:08Speaker 2: the president. Don't know that you can necessarily do that.
- 49:11Speaker 2: So I hope that answers the question. Programming note, I'll
- 49:14Speaker 2: not be here tomorrow.
- 49:15Speaker 4: I've got a medical procedure related to the sea, the
- 49:18Speaker 4: Big Sea that I'm battling. All good though, Dale Cooper's
- 49:21Speaker 4: going to be in for me on the show tomorrow.
- 49:23Speaker 4: I should be okay though for midday, so I'll be
- 49:26Speaker 4: back for that. Speaking of midday, yeah, we got that
- 49:28Speaker 4: little show coming up at noon today powered by a
- 49:30Speaker 4: Selango Law with thirteen News in tonight Live anchor Mander
- 49:32Speaker 4: Baron and me. I've been telling you about this special
- 49:34Speaker 4: program that's going to air tonight on Metro News Television
- 49:38Speaker 4: about data centers.
- 49:39Speaker 11: Now.
- 49:39Speaker 4: It's on the campus of Shepherd University, presented by the
- 49:41Speaker 4: Stubblefield Institute. And it's an interesting panel because there are
- 49:46Speaker 4: those that are very pro data center, those that are
- 49:48Speaker 4: very anti, and those that are just not either.
- 49:51Speaker 2: They're just kind of in the middle talking about the
- 49:53Speaker 2: economics of the whole thing. So it's on Metro News Television,
- 49:56Speaker 2: so make sure you download the app. Ashley Horse from
- 49:58Speaker 2: the Stubblefield Institute will join is to talk about it. Today,
- 50:01Speaker 2: We're going to talk with the superintendent of schools in
- 50:03Speaker 2: Wayne County on the show. Today. Jeff Jenkins will stop
- 50:06Speaker 2: by with the news. Dave Weekly a great commentary this
- 50:09Speaker 2: morning on the All West Virginia baseball team. We're talking
- 50:13Speaker 2: about players all from West Virginia. If you were fielding
- 50:16Speaker 2: the team, who would you choose? Heard the commentary this
- 50:19Speaker 2: morning and it was pretty good stuff. Dave Weekly is
- 50:22Speaker 2: going to join us to talk about that. Plus, this
- 50:25Speaker 2: past weekend there were around two hundred and fifty teams
- 50:29Speaker 2: at Shawnee for the President's Cup soccer event. Cannan County
- 50:33Speaker 2: Comission President Minsolango is going to join us on the
- 50:35Speaker 2: State Wide Show, not necessarily to talk about just that event,
- 50:38Speaker 2: but also to talk about the business of travel sports
- 50:43Speaker 2: around the state of West Virginia and in other places.
- 50:46Speaker 2: Mister Meadows is here, Hey, doing my friend. Yeah, that's
- 50:49Speaker 2: Shawnee Development.
- 50:50Speaker 7: Man.
- 50:50Speaker 4: That was a bad idea. Yes, it's horrible. That's horrible, horribly,
- 50:53Speaker 4: two hundred and fifty teams. I figured, you know, let's
- 50:57Speaker 4: say maybe five people. I'm just random figure. I'm sure
- 51:01Speaker 4: Solango's got all of the actual numbers, but let's say
- 51:03Speaker 4: five people per player when you bring in mamma and
- 51:06Speaker 4: little baby sisters and so on and so forth. There
- 51:09Speaker 4: was no hotel rooms anywhere in Charleston, anywhere in Huntington,
- 51:12Speaker 4: there was nothing.
- 51:12Speaker 11: Somebody had a piece and it's blinking me who But
- 51:15Speaker 11: ten and a half million, I think is what they
- 51:17Speaker 11: projected the economic impact to be just from this the
- 51:20Speaker 11: tournament this past weekend.
- 51:21Speaker 2: Yeah, one weekend. Ten and a half million for the
- 51:24Speaker 2: And that's not just for that's not the shiny sports complex.
- 51:27Speaker 2: That's for every round benefit.
- 51:29Speaker 4: Because if a team plays at ten o'clock on a
- 51:32Speaker 4: Friday morning, they don't play again. Until eight o'clock the
- 51:34Speaker 4: next morning. What are they gonna do. They're gonna go
- 51:36Speaker 4: to restaurants. They're gonna go and I mean, yeah.
- 51:39Speaker 2: It's good stuff all the time when I drive by it.
- 51:41Speaker 2: All Right, what you got on the show today?
- 51:42Speaker 11: So coming up at ten oh six, we're gonna dive
- 51:44Speaker 11: into data centers with Jim E. Step of the High
- 51:47Speaker 11: Tech Foundation. He has a lot of knowledge about how
- 51:52Speaker 11: these work and how they don't work. So think of
- 51:54Speaker 11: a MythBusters kind of thing. I wanted to get into
- 51:57Speaker 11: the water issue. I want to get into noise pollution,
- 51:59Speaker 11: light pollution, really trying to educate people about what is
- 52:03Speaker 11: concrete and what is not because there is a lot
- 52:05Speaker 11: of disinformation about data centers. Yeah, there always is, right,
- 52:09Speaker 11: There's there's a lot of disinformation about things. And he
- 52:11Speaker 11: does a good job of being unbiased and talking about yeah,
- 52:16Speaker 11: maybe be concerned about this, but don't be so concerned
- 52:18Speaker 11: about that. So we'll get into that. I'm gonna talk
- 52:20Speaker 11: about the FBI facility in Clarksburg. People have no idea
- 52:23Speaker 11: how huge that is and how important a role that
- 52:25Speaker 11: plays that and much much more.
- 52:26Speaker 4: I've actually been there, not under investigation. I mean there
- 52:30Speaker 4: were you saying anything?
- 52:31Speaker 2: Whatever, all right, I'll see you later today. I met
- 52:33Speaker 2: your news mid day. Till then, have fun.
- 52:36Speaker 14: I love somebody.
- 52:51Speaker 1: I mean where you HSA six point five Charleston one
- 52:54Speaker 1: O four point Cross Lanes, WVRC Media Station. We are
