Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:04Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:08Speaker 1: Sophie Torber and coming up on today's show, a US
- 0:12Speaker 1: influencer is accused of bullying her namesake over her Instagram handle.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Molly May addresses budget airline controversy and Anna McAvoy's drawn
- 0:21Speaker 1: out wedding content. But first, a YouTuber has shared her
- 0:26Speaker 1: unusual food quirk when it comes to eating burgers or
- 0:29Speaker 1: anything round for that matter. 23-year-old Anastasia Kingsnorth, who's built
- 0:34Speaker 1: a career off eating fast food, has admitted she never
- 0:37Speaker 1: finishes the last piece of anything round. Here's what she said.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Okay, I do have one actually. So I don't know
- 0:47Speaker 2: if you know this about me either actually. It's very random,
- 0:49Speaker 2: but I wouldn't really tell people it. It's just something
- 0:51Speaker 2: that I do. But when I have a burger or
- 0:53Speaker 2: I eat something round, I can't ever finish the end
- 0:56Speaker 2: of it, which makes no sense because it's round.
- 0:59Speaker 1: What do you mean?
- 1:00Speaker 2: Like so if I get to the end of the
- 1:01Speaker 2: burger I have to leave the little end rim I
- 1:05Speaker 2: can't eat it I don't know why I've never been
- 1:07Speaker 2: able to eat it and a couple of like Byron's
- 1:11Speaker 2: noticed me do it before and he's like why do
- 1:12Speaker 2: you never finish the end and I'm like I just
- 1:14Speaker 2: can't like there's something in me I just can't finish
- 1:17Speaker 2: the end of the burger because it's round That is
- 1:19Speaker 2: so weird.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's round, that makes no sense.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Yeah, because it's round. So it's like, why can't I?
- 1:23Speaker 2: Because I could have started eating from that part. But
- 1:26Speaker 2: that would probably be my beige flag. Like when I'm
- 1:28Speaker 2: eating something round, I have to leave the little end
- 1:30Speaker 2: of it.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I couldn't believe this when I heard it. Her co-host
- 1:35Speaker 1: Saffron Barker also seemed a little taken back and confused
- 1:38Speaker 1: by the whole thing. All I can think of is
- 1:40Speaker 1: that I can't believe I haven't noticed her doing this
- 1:43Speaker 1: because I have watched this girl... eat a lot of
- 1:46Speaker 1: hamburgers because most of her content, she's sitting in a
- 1:48Speaker 1: McDonald's drive-thru and she films herself eating hamburgers. How have
- 1:52Speaker 1: we not picked up on this? I just loved how
- 1:54Speaker 1: she said it as if it was the most normal
- 1:55Speaker 1: thing ever. Like, oh yeah, actually my beige flag is
- 1:58Speaker 1: that I do this. Yeah, it, Didn't really make any sense.
- 2:01Speaker 1: And it reminds me of one of those things that
- 2:03Speaker 1: you think of doing as a child and it makes
- 2:06Speaker 1: complete sense to you and it drags on for too
- 2:08Speaker 1: long and someone doesn't tell you that's weird. That being said,
- 2:11Speaker 1: I have done this before. Okay. So when I was
- 2:13Speaker 1: in Bali, if I hadn't been able to wash my
- 2:16Speaker 1: hands and I was really worried about getting Bali belly.
- 2:18Speaker 1: If I was eating, say, a hamburger, I wouldn't eat
- 2:20Speaker 1: the end of it, which would touch my hand. So
- 2:22Speaker 1: maybe this is where this is coming from. I never
- 2:24Speaker 1: thought of it being a cleanliness thing. I thought it
- 2:26Speaker 1: was like one of those things that you say to yourself, oh,
- 2:28Speaker 1: something bad will happen if I do this or don't
- 2:32Speaker 1: do this. Well, it seemed to me as if she
- 2:34Speaker 1: had an issue with round things. That's what it came
- 2:36Speaker 1: across as. I was thinking about it because, yes, this
- 2:38Speaker 1: girl does eat a lot of hamburgers, but there are
- 2:40Speaker 1: so many round food objects. So you've got pancakes or
- 2:44Speaker 1: you've got round biscuits. Does she eat the end of
- 2:47Speaker 1: those things or is it every round item she does
- 2:50Speaker 1: not eat the end of? So many questions left unanswered.
- 2:53Speaker 1: I have heard of people not eating the crust off
- 2:56Speaker 1: your toast or a sandwich because they don't want to
- 2:58Speaker 1: get curly hair. I wonder if she thinks that something
- 3:00Speaker 1: like that's going to happen to her if she eats
- 3:02Speaker 1: the last little bit of a round object. Was there
- 3:05Speaker 1: anything weird that you do with your food that now
- 3:08Speaker 1: you've retrospectively thought about? Not that I can think of.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I know growing up, I used to like to eat
- 3:13Speaker 1: a lot of ice, but apparently that's actually linked to
- 3:15Speaker 1: iron deficiency. So it does make sense.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Who knows? Maybe Catherine Asplund is going to be this
- 3:21Speaker 3: like better version of Catherine Driscoll. Like could happen.
- 3:25Speaker 1: A US influencer has been accused of trying to bully
- 3:28Speaker 1: her namesake into handing over her Instagram handle. Catherine Asplund,
- 3:33Speaker 1: formerly known as Driscoll, recently married a billionaire heir and
- 3:37Speaker 1: wanted to make things Instagram official. However, there was one hitch.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Someone already had the coveted Instagram handle. I don't know
- 3:45Speaker 1: if I'd be fighting for this last name. We had
- 3:47Speaker 1: to Google how to pronounce it. And it is Arsplund.
- 3:51Speaker 1: So the word arse does make up that last name. Now,
- 3:55Speaker 1: if you haven't heard of her, she is a lifestyle
- 3:57Speaker 1: influencer who has over 88,000 followers on TikTok and 15,000
- 4:02Speaker 1: on Instagram. And on TikTok, she goes by the handle
- 4:06Speaker 1: Lost Etiquette, while on Instagram, she is Catherine Drisked. Now,
- 4:10Speaker 1: the 27-year-old recently married Cabot Asplund, who is the heir
- 4:14Speaker 1: to the billion-dollar Asplund Tree Expert Co-Fortune. I would put
- 4:19Speaker 1: money on it that this family is pretending their name
- 4:21Speaker 1: isn't Asplund and pronounces it completely differently. It would be
- 4:24Speaker 1: like Ashplund, like on Keeping Up With Appearances. Well, on
- 4:27Speaker 1: Keeping Up With Appearances, her last name is Bucket, but
- 4:30Speaker 1: she says it's Bouquet. You could be onto something. Now,
- 4:33Speaker 1: the company is listed as the 109th largest private company
- 4:38Speaker 1: in America with with a revenue of $ 5 billion in 2023.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Who knew there was so much money in trimming trees?
- 4:45Speaker 1: That is wild. Now, the couple got married at the
- 4:48Speaker 1: end of April in Palm Beach in Florida, and Catherine
- 4:51Speaker 1: shared a lot of wedding content, including a video of
- 4:54Speaker 1: her dress that has amassed over 8.5 million views. So
- 4:58Speaker 1: she is building quite a career for herself as a TikToker.
- 5:02Speaker 1: And as a lot of brides do, Catherine was keen
- 5:04Speaker 1: to make her new name Instagram official. But she quickly
- 5:07Speaker 1: discovered that her desired Instagram handle of Catherine Asplund was
- 5:12Speaker 1: already taken. So Catherine instantly messaged the owner of the
- 5:16Speaker 1: account and asked if she could buy the handle from her.
- 5:19Speaker 1: So she explained to the girl that she'd just gotten
- 5:21Speaker 1: married and this was now her new name. Now, Catherine's namesake,
- 5:25Speaker 1: who goes by Kate, replied congratulating the newlywed. But she
- 5:29Speaker 1: politely declined the offer, saying that she thought it was
- 5:31Speaker 1: against Instagram's terms and conditions and she didn't want to
- 5:34Speaker 1: get banned from the platform. And also, why should she
- 5:37Speaker 1: give up her Instagram handle just because some TikToker who's
- 5:40Speaker 1: now married a billionaire is requesting her to do so?
- 5:43Speaker 1: Out of pure spite, I'd probably be like, no, sorry,
- 5:46Speaker 1: not changing it. Well, if I'd seen that she'd married
- 5:48Speaker 1: a billionaire, I might have been a bit interested to
- 5:50Speaker 1: know how much she was actually offering. Now, Catherine hit
- 5:54Speaker 1: back at Kate saying it was untrue and she had
- 5:57Speaker 1: previously purchased a username before so she wouldn't get banned.
- 6:01Speaker 1: She explained that that's how celebrities manage to get their
- 6:03Speaker 1: full names as their handles. She also added, so weird.
- 6:07Speaker 1: I didn't know there was another Asplund family out there.
- 6:10Speaker 1: There's no Catherine Asplund in our family. I see that
- 6:13Speaker 1: you're not that active on here but started Instagram in
- 6:17Speaker 1: 2018 but changed your username three times. Is there any
- 6:20Speaker 1: way I can get you to change your username one
- 6:22Speaker 1: more time? Wow, that's very passive aggressive. Kate went on
- 6:26Speaker 1: to explain that she used the account as a finster
- 6:29Speaker 1: for private stories. She said she was sorry but couldn't
- 6:32Speaker 1: agree as she didn't want to get banned. God, what
- 6:36Speaker 1: an F you, though, because she's obviously admitted that this
- 6:40Speaker 1: really isn't even her name. It doesn't mean that much
- 6:42Speaker 1: to her. I mean, she could just make up a
- 6:44Speaker 1: new finster. I think you're on to something, Amy. I
- 6:47Speaker 1: reckon she's clocked that she's a billionaire and is trying
- 6:50Speaker 1: to purposely make it difficult so she offers her some money.
- 6:53Speaker 1: I think it more comes down to how Catherine Asplund
- 6:57Speaker 1: asked for the name. It was kind of very rude
- 6:59Speaker 1: and abrasive and I think this girl's gone, well, fuck you,
- 7:01Speaker 1: I'm not handing it over. Yeah. It does become clear
- 7:05Speaker 1: that Catherine isn't used to not getting her way because
- 7:07Speaker 1: she did hit back writing, I actually don't believe that
- 7:10Speaker 1: your name is Catherine Asplund. Who would make their finster
- 7:13Speaker 1: their actual name? I reported you to Instagram and they're
- 7:16Speaker 1: actually able to tell me your real name. I really
- 7:19Speaker 1: hope I don't know you because that's going to be
- 7:22Speaker 1: really embarrassing for you. So is Catherine assuming that this
- 7:26Speaker 1: Kate has purposely secured the name just to piss her off?
- 7:31Speaker 1: I think so. I mean, it's absolutely ridiculous. If you
- 7:33Speaker 1: think of the names of your finsters, you pick out
- 7:36Speaker 1: of the air the most bizarre name that you can
- 7:38Speaker 1: think of. Obviously, this is the name that this girl
- 7:41Speaker 1: has come up with. And unfortunately she shares the same
- 7:44Speaker 1: name as this now heiress. Well, Catherine did go on
- 7:48Speaker 1: to say that her fiance had also reported Kate's account
- 7:52Speaker 1: and she then accused Kate of pretending to be someone
- 7:54Speaker 1: she was not and demanded she prove that Catherine Asplund
- 7:58Speaker 1: was her actual name. Now Kate responded writing, why do
- 8:01Speaker 1: I have to send you any proof of who I am?
- 8:04Speaker 1: This is my account. I've had it since 2018. I'm
- 8:07Speaker 1: sorry we share the same name, but just because you
- 8:09Speaker 1: got married Doesn't mean you can have my username. If
- 8:12Speaker 1: you were nice, I would have considered giving it to
- 8:14Speaker 1: you for free. But you weren't. I reported you for
- 8:16Speaker 1: asking me to sell my account and another report for
- 8:19Speaker 1: harassing me. Have a good day. I want to be
- 8:21Speaker 1: friends with this girl with a finster. That is a
- 8:24Speaker 1: legendary response. But even how she said I would have
- 8:26Speaker 1: considered giving it to you for free, that makes me think, yes,
- 8:30Speaker 1: she is after money. Now, since then, the conversation has
- 8:33Speaker 1: found its way onto Reddit and has gone viral. And
- 8:36Speaker 1: the backlash was very swift with Catherine labelled as a
- 8:40Speaker 1: bully and entitled. It also prompted some shit stirrers to
- 8:44Speaker 1: go and create every possible variation of Catherine's married and
- 8:48Speaker 1: maiden name to ensure she can't use either of those.
- 8:52Speaker 1: My God, people are petty. Yeah, I did see that
- 8:54Speaker 1: online and some people were putting in their bio that
- 8:57Speaker 1: they were entitled and selfish. Oh my. When I was
- 9:01Speaker 1: considering changing my Instagram handle to my new married name,
- 9:05Speaker 1: I did go and have a look and there were
- 9:06Speaker 1: quite a number of Sophie Hancocks and I really was
- 9:10Speaker 1: never actually going to do that. Yeah, but yours is
- 9:12Speaker 1: confusing because your handle is Sophie underscore Torba, but when
- 9:17Speaker 1: you click on it, then it says in your bio
- 9:19Speaker 1: that your name is Sophie Hancock. It's quite confusing. Well,
- 9:22Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I just, I thought if people search
- 9:25Speaker 1: for me, they can search Sophie Torba and it'll come up. Anyway,
- 9:29Speaker 1: it's not that important. I'm definitely not going to pay
- 9:32Speaker 1: someone a large sum of money to get a Sophie
- 9:34Speaker 1: Hancock handle. It shows you how important she thinks she is.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Even the fact that she referenced, oh, this is how
- 9:39Speaker 1: celebrities get their own handle. Hun, you're on TikTok and Instagram.
- 9:43Speaker 1: It's not like you're JLo. Yeah. I mean, but she's
- 9:45Speaker 1: also already has the Instagram handle on TikTok, Lost Etiquette.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Why doesn't she just stick to that? That wasn't her
- 9:52Speaker 1: name anyway. Well, probably because she's an heiress now, thinks
- 9:55Speaker 1: that she's important. I do love how the internet always
- 9:58Speaker 1: provides receipts. Following the scandal, super sleuths dug up and
- 10:02Speaker 1: now deleted TikTok of Catherine's where she spoke about how
- 10:06Speaker 1: sad she was about giving up her last name. She
- 10:09Speaker 1: even said she wanted to hold a funeral for her
- 10:12Speaker 1: maiden name. And the video was quite difficult to watch.
- 10:16Speaker 1: To give you the vibe, at one point she said
- 10:19Speaker 1: this about her maiden name.
- 10:20Speaker 3: I also feel blessed by the fact that I was
- 10:23Speaker 3: given an incredible last name, Driscoll. It's amazing. It's great.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Like my whole life, people were like, wow, you have
- 10:30Speaker 3: my favorite last name ever. Well, what about now?
- 10:34Speaker 1: She also spoke in a derogatory way about those who
- 10:37Speaker 1: choose to hyphenate their last name saying this.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Trust me, I would never be that bitch to hyphenate
- 10:43Speaker 3: my name. I kind of hate that shit. When I
- 10:45Speaker 3: see women with hyphenated last names, it looks like they're
- 10:48Speaker 3: already divorced and like they're not.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Oh, I take offense to this with my husband's name
- 10:53Speaker 1: already being hyphenated. Yeah. Now, ironically, Catherine then went on
- 10:57Speaker 1: to mock women who were quick to update their names
- 11:00Speaker 1: on social media after they got married. This is what
- 11:03Speaker 1: she said.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Something else that low-key bothers me is when girls get
- 11:07Speaker 3: married and it's not even like 10 minutes after they
- 11:10Speaker 3: do their vows. Like, They're like, oh, go on my Instagram.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Let me change my last name already.
- 11:14Speaker 3: I'm probably going to wait a couple of months. I
- 11:16Speaker 3: don't know. I just think it's like a little bit
- 11:18Speaker 3: a lot when I see girls change it. Like before
- 11:21Speaker 3: I even knew they were fucking married, like chill.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Wow. So she's got an issue with people changing their
- 11:26Speaker 1: names immediately, but not people who hound others for the
- 11:30Speaker 1: Instagram handle. Yeah. I mean, she really wasn't very chill
- 11:33Speaker 1: about the situation. Now, as if Catherine's new billionaire in-laws
- 11:38Speaker 1: didn't have enough secondhand embarrassment from this scandal unfolding publicly,
- 11:43Speaker 1: but they were also then dragged into the drama. So
- 11:46Speaker 1: thanks to all of the attention Catherine created on the family,
- 11:50Speaker 1: someone has dug up an undocumented worker exploitation lawsuit involving
- 11:56Speaker 1: Asplund tree experts. So it just so happens that in 2017,
- 12:01Speaker 1: Catherine's in-laws' family business pled guilty to employing workers they
- 12:05Speaker 1: knew were using false identification papers. The family was fined
- 12:10Speaker 1: $ 95 million, the largest payment ever imposed in an immigration case. Wow.
- 12:16Speaker 1: So I'm assuming she probably wants to steer clear of
- 12:20Speaker 1: this last name now. Yes. I don't think that the
- 12:23Speaker 1: Asplund family would be that keen for her to be
- 12:25Speaker 1: taking it on and getting even more attention towards their business.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Catherine did end up deactivating her Instagram account because of
- 12:32Speaker 1: the scandal, but It is now back on the platform.
- 12:35Speaker 1: She is yet to post anything though. Yeah, she has
- 12:38Speaker 1: been posting TikToks as normal though. And it appears that
- 12:41Speaker 1: her attempts to get that Asplund last name have failed
- 12:45Speaker 1: because she is still going by her maiden name on Instagram.
- 12:49Speaker 4: When I saw people talking about how they thought it
- 12:52Speaker 4: was crazy how I booked my sister a Ryanair flight.
- 12:56Speaker 4: to take her on her hen do. They're like, I
- 12:58Speaker 4: can't believe that Molly booked a Ryanair flight for her
- 13:02Speaker 4: and her sister's friends.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Molly May Haig has hit back at critics who slammed
- 13:07Speaker 1: her for booking a Ryanair flight for her sister Zoe's
- 13:10Speaker 1: hen's weekend. The budget airline was in stark contrast to
- 13:14Speaker 1: the private jet she organised a month prior for her
- 13:16Speaker 1: friend's birthday in the snow. Now, so if Molly addressed
- 13:19Speaker 1: the controversy in her latest YouTube video, it is clear
- 13:22Speaker 1: that this controversy has affected Molly and she feels compelled
- 13:26Speaker 1: to share her side of the story. So she started
- 13:29Speaker 1: by addressing the private jet that she booked for her
- 13:32Speaker 1: friend Taylor's birthday, explaining the cost of the jet was
- 13:35Speaker 1: split between the group and wasn't just funded by her. Now,
- 13:39Speaker 1: following that trip, Molly was slammed for flaunting her wealth
- 13:43Speaker 1: and accused of not caring about her carbon footprint. Clearly,
- 13:47Speaker 1: she thought, if I fly a commercial for my sister's
- 13:50Speaker 1: hen's weekend, people are going to get off my back.
- 13:53Speaker 1: But no, her flight with Ryanair fueled even more criticism
- 13:57Speaker 1: and hate. Molly said she was made to feel like
- 13:59Speaker 1: the worst sister and questioned what transport the general public
- 14:04Speaker 1: would like her to take. Molly finished up by saying,
- 14:07Speaker 1: you can never win it no matter what. And whatever
- 14:09Speaker 1: she does, people will comment on it. I liked that
- 14:12Speaker 1: Molly came out and actually addressed this drama going on.
- 14:16Speaker 1: And she did it so well because in her vlog
- 14:18Speaker 1: she was saying, I don't normally even respond to this
- 14:21Speaker 1: stuff because there's so much that gets written about her.
- 14:24Speaker 1: But I think she took it more personally because it
- 14:26Speaker 1: involved her sister. Yeah, I think a lot of the
- 14:29Speaker 1: criticism about this hen's party stems from people building a
- 14:34Speaker 1: narrative that Molly's sister Zoe is somehow living in her
- 14:38Speaker 1: shadows and that Molly must treat her badly because she's
- 14:40Speaker 1: not as wealthy and famous as her. So last year,
- 14:44Speaker 1: Zoe left her job in the army to follow in
- 14:46Speaker 1: Molly's footsteps and become an influencer. And she has earned
- 14:50Speaker 1: herself a name as being the everyday Molly Mae. So
- 14:54Speaker 1: she's more relatable financially and also with day-to-day things. I
- 14:58Speaker 1: actually don't think that Zoe is living in Molly's shadows
- 15:01Speaker 1: at all. If anything, her YouTube channel and following is
- 15:05Speaker 1: gaining huge momentum that she is nipping on Molly's toes. Well...
- 15:10Speaker 1: You're right, because even after her hen's weekend, I noticed
- 15:13Speaker 1: her Instagram followers shot up. I think she's nearly got
- 15:15Speaker 1: close to 400,000 followers. I mean, it's kind of like
- 15:18Speaker 1: the Kardashian situation, isn't it? Where Kim claims that she's
- 15:21Speaker 1: the one who's given her sisters the careers. Obviously, people
- 15:24Speaker 1: became interested in Zoe because of the connection to Molly.
- 15:28Speaker 1: But as you said, she is relatable. She does share
- 15:30Speaker 1: very different content. She's more of a fitness influencer. than
- 15:34Speaker 1: I'd say a lifestyle influencer. But I think that Molly
- 15:36Speaker 1: is also so happy for her. The two bounce off
- 15:39Speaker 1: each other. I don't like how they're having to create
- 15:42Speaker 1: this competition between the two sisters. I also think it's
- 15:46Speaker 1: quite interesting to analyze the behavior of Zoe's followers because
- 15:49Speaker 1: they seem very protective over Zoe. And I think that
- 15:53Speaker 1: Molly is not only stooging her on flights, but they
- 15:56Speaker 1: also think that she purposely excluded Zoe from the hens
- 16:00Speaker 1: vlog that Molly created. So Zoe was only in a
- 16:03Speaker 1: few scenes of the YouTube video and most of it
- 16:06Speaker 1: was made up of Molly talking back in her room
- 16:09Speaker 1: with her friend. Here's what Zoe said about those accusations.
- 16:14Speaker 4: So many questions about the Ryanair flight. What's your opinion
- 16:16Speaker 4: on the heat that Molly got over the Ryanair flight?
- 16:21Speaker 4: I don't need to say anything. I'm sure you guys
- 16:23Speaker 4: know me well enough now to know what I think
- 16:25Speaker 4: about that. Poor girl can't do right from wrong. She
- 16:27Speaker 4: really can't. And I think it's quite sad. I just
- 16:30Speaker 4: had to turn the comments off on that video as
- 16:32Speaker 4: well for other reasons, which is, again, just absolutely ridiculous.
- 16:36Speaker 4: Because I wasn't in the video enough. I wasn't in
- 16:38Speaker 4: the video enough. And to be honest, I'm really glad
- 16:40Speaker 4: I wasn't in it more because anything she showed me,
- 16:42Speaker 4: any way of me in it, I was tipsy and
- 16:44Speaker 4: it was making me cringe. I never asked for it
- 16:47Speaker 4: to be like a keepsake video. It was just fun
- 16:48Speaker 4: to look back on. And I've loved watching that video.
- 16:52Speaker 4: I'll stop there now. Yeah, peace and love over here.
- 16:54Speaker 4: Peace and love only. No hate. I love my sister.
- 16:57Speaker 4: She loves me.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I watched this vlog and I did notice that Zoe
- 17:01Speaker 1: wasn't in it as much as I thought she was
- 17:03Speaker 1: going to be. But that's because Molly had a lot
- 17:06Speaker 1: of other things going on. She is the maid of honor.
- 17:08Speaker 1: She's organizing everything for the hen's party. Also, who wants
- 17:11Speaker 1: to be captured on their drunk off their face? And
- 17:14Speaker 1: with most vloggers, they don't actually capture the activities that
- 17:18Speaker 1: go on because they don't want to take their camera out.
- 17:20Speaker 1: They mainly film what has gone down back in the
- 17:22Speaker 1: room or explain what's happened. Yeah. And she wasn't sharing
- 17:26Speaker 1: a room with Zoe either. So that meant obviously there
- 17:29Speaker 1: was going to be content that Molly filmed in a
- 17:31Speaker 1: room with her friend because she's been slammed for featuring
- 17:34Speaker 1: too much of a friend and not enough of Zoe.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Also Zoe made the decision that she didn't want to
- 17:38Speaker 1: vlog the trip because she wanted to just enjoy it.
- 17:41Speaker 1: She didn't really want to be working. So, I mean,
- 17:44Speaker 1: as she said, Molly wasn't capturing a keepsake video. It
- 17:48Speaker 1: was just something fun to have a look back on. Now,
- 17:51Speaker 1: in a Q & A about her hens, Zoe addressed
- 17:54Speaker 1: who paid for what, explaining that Molly was incredibly generous
- 17:58Speaker 1: and covered all of the costs except for those Ryanair flights.
- 18:02Speaker 1: So Molly paid for the very expensive accommodation. the activities,
- 18:06Speaker 1: food and everyone's drinks. And they went out to some
- 18:10Speaker 1: pretty expensive dinners. So this bill would have been really high.
- 18:13Speaker 1: I do love that Molly has copped so much crap
- 18:17Speaker 1: about the Ryanair flights and that's the only thing that
- 18:20Speaker 1: she actually didn't contribute to other than her own flight.
- 18:23Speaker 1: So no wonder they went Ryanair. Yeah, even though it
- 18:25Speaker 1: was a budget airline, the flights were very expensive. So
- 18:29Speaker 1: it was about £ 700 return each person. Do you think
- 18:34Speaker 1: that's a lot to expect people to pay? I don't
- 18:36Speaker 1: think it's that much considering they then had all of
- 18:39Speaker 1: their accommodation, their drinks and all their food paid for.
- 18:42Speaker 1: I'd be willing to pay £ 700 to go on that
- 18:44Speaker 1: hen's weekend. Yeah, well, Zoe felt the same way. This
- 18:47Speaker 1: is what she said about it.
- 18:48Speaker 4: All in all, I think it cost about £ 700, which
- 18:51Speaker 4: for some people for a hen do might be quite,
- 18:54Speaker 4: it is quite a lot. I know it is quite
- 18:56Speaker 4: a lot, but they were all saying, my friends were
- 18:58Speaker 4: saying like for the experience that we're going to get... And,
- 19:02Speaker 4: you know, for the villa that we're staying in, the
- 19:03Speaker 4: food that we're getting, the drinks that we're getting. Bearing
- 19:06Speaker 4: in mind this obviously was including food, drinks, flights, like everything.
- 19:09Speaker 4: They were really more than happy to spend that amount
- 19:11Speaker 4: of money. And I did check with everyone before we
- 19:14Speaker 4: booked anything, before we booked everything, that this was going
- 19:17Speaker 4: to be okay for everyone.
- 19:17Speaker 3: And it was.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Yeah, they're really paying for the experience. And some of
- 19:22Speaker 1: Zoe's friends actually gave Zoe money to hand on to
- 19:25Speaker 1: Molly because I think they felt a bit guilty at
- 19:27Speaker 1: how expensive everything was. I actually think we're going to
- 19:30Speaker 1: see a sponsorship deal with Zoe and Ryanair pop up
- 19:33Speaker 1: because in this Q & A, Zoe was very complimentary
- 19:36Speaker 1: of the airline and she said it was actually a
- 19:38Speaker 1: highlight of her trip. Flying Ryanair. Yeah, she said that
- 19:42Speaker 1: they were popping mini bottles of Prosecco on the flight
- 19:45Speaker 1: and it was the first place that her and her
- 19:47Speaker 1: friends started mingling and all getting to know each other.
- 19:50Speaker 1: I think that Zoe would be the perfect brand ambassador
- 19:52Speaker 1: for Ryanair because as we said, she is the everyday
- 19:56Speaker 1: Molly Mae. They could get a huge, like a really
- 19:59Speaker 1: fun campaign around it. I just don't understand the people
- 20:02Speaker 1: that follow Zoe though, in terms of their mindset to
- 20:05Speaker 1: then hate on her sister. Yeah. It's very unusual because
- 20:09Speaker 1: I like following both of them because I found Zoe
- 20:12Speaker 1: through Molly, who I really enjoy watching.
- 20:14Speaker 3: I'm getting married tomorrow and I'm here in my room
- 20:19Speaker 3: doing my self-care.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Anna McAvoy's social media strategy is under the spotlight with
- 20:25Speaker 1: fans complaining she's drawn out her wedding content. The former
- 20:29Speaker 1: Love Island contestant got married to her new husband, Michael Staples,
- 20:33Speaker 1: in Corfu last week. But it took five days until
- 20:36Speaker 1: we got a glimpse of her first dress. This was
- 20:39Speaker 1: a very hot topic in our Facebook community with one
- 20:42Speaker 1: listener saying, I really like her, but this has annoyed me.
- 20:46Speaker 1: So much buildup, but it's almost been anticlimactic. Now, this
- 20:50Speaker 1: is because as you touched on, Amy, Anna did five
- 20:54Speaker 1: wedding related posts. before we even got a glimpse of
- 20:58Speaker 1: the dress. So what were the other posts? Well, it's
- 21:00Speaker 1: clear that she had some sort of sponsorship agreement going
- 21:04Speaker 1: on with a wedding robe brand called Homebody because there
- 21:07Speaker 1: were three reels of her in the robes, either getting
- 21:11Speaker 1: ready with her friends or sitting there enjoying her wedding breakfast.
- 21:14Speaker 1: There was also a flat lay photo of her shoes
- 21:18Speaker 1: and accessories and some of the small reception details. And
- 21:22Speaker 1: I just want to be clear, That's the photo that
- 21:24Speaker 1: no one gives a fuck about. So I feel like
- 21:26Speaker 1: when you're sharing your flat lay of your flowers in
- 21:29Speaker 1: the morning or your shoes, that is the post that
- 21:31Speaker 1: usually bombs. But I'm guessing maybe her shoes were sponsored
- 21:34Speaker 1: and there were a few things going on that she
- 21:36Speaker 1: was trying to create, generate some sort of excitement ahead
- 21:40Speaker 1: of the main post. Well, that's exactly what she was doing. Now,
- 21:43Speaker 1: the last video seemed to be the last straw for
- 21:46Speaker 1: people because it was a video of Anna and Michael
- 21:49Speaker 1: dancing around in casual clothes with the caption, the next
- 21:52Speaker 1: post you see will be our wedding pictures. Now, I
- 21:56Speaker 1: was hanging out to see these photos, but I was
- 21:58Speaker 1: getting slightly irritated because I felt like saying, I'm sorry,
- 22:02Speaker 1: this isn't a royal wedding. Please stop gatekeeping your wedding
- 22:06Speaker 1: photos from us because we're interested now. I'm probably not interested.
- 22:09Speaker 3: In a week.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Because all people want to see is the dress. And
- 22:13Speaker 1: then as soon as we see the dress, our attention
- 22:16Speaker 1: levels bomb. We don't care anymore. I can't see one
- 22:18Speaker 1: more wedding photo after that. Well, the wedding photos looked amazing.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Like they both looked incredible in the pictures. But I
- 22:24Speaker 1: know what you mean. There can be the point where
- 22:26Speaker 1: it gets, there's too much waiting that's gone on. Like
- 22:29Speaker 1: your interest levels do drop. Yeah, well, it took five
- 22:32Speaker 1: days for her to release the first photo. And it
- 22:34Speaker 1: was a very stunning photo of her and Michael walking
- 22:37Speaker 1: kissing as their bridal party threw rose petals over them.
- 22:41Speaker 1: And Anna wore a custom-made gown by a Melbourne designer
- 22:44Speaker 1: and it had a square neck and a huge skirt.
- 22:47Speaker 1: It looked very princessy. She had her hair back and
- 22:51Speaker 1: she looked very elegant and gorgeous. But as you say, Amy,
- 22:54Speaker 1: because it had been so hyped, I was a little
- 22:58Speaker 1: bit disappointed. I was like, oh, is that it? Well,
- 23:02Speaker 1: she has shared seven other wedding photos since. And one
- 23:05Speaker 1: of them was hinting that she was going to reveal
- 23:07Speaker 1: her second wedding dress, which turned out to be a
- 23:10Speaker 1: lace number from the same designer. It was absolutely gorgeous.
- 23:13Speaker 1: And Michael was also in a different coloured suit, which
- 23:16Speaker 1: seemed even more over the top. This wedding, it was
- 23:18Speaker 1: very extra. This wedding must have cost them a fortune.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I know there were a number of sponsored elements, but
- 23:25Speaker 1: not only did they have this extravagant wedding in Greece,
- 23:28Speaker 1: but they also had a friend moon. They're now going
- 23:31Speaker 1: on a huge honeymoon. How would you feel as a guest?
- 23:35Speaker 1: Because Anna made it quite clear that she didn't want
- 23:38Speaker 1: any of her guests to share photos of her in
- 23:40Speaker 1: a dress before she had the chance to, or any
- 23:43Speaker 1: photos that revealed any of the wedding reception details or
- 23:47Speaker 1: the ceremony. Would you be a little bit frustrated? I
- 23:50Speaker 1: can understand that. I wouldn't want someone sharing a photo
- 23:53Speaker 1: of me before I was able to share the professional
- 23:56Speaker 1: photographs as well. And I even think I get funny
- 23:59Speaker 1: about people sharing photos of themselves at the wedding too,
- 24:02Speaker 1: because sometimes it can give away a little detail, like
- 24:05Speaker 1: what color the flowers were. When it's in this sort
- 24:07Speaker 1: of case where it's someone who's high profile. Well, if
- 24:10Speaker 1: it was someone like Tammy Hembrough and she started sharing
- 24:13Speaker 1: a lot of videos and stuff, I could understand maybe
- 24:16Speaker 1: there'd be a bit of annoyance there because she's got
- 24:18Speaker 1: such a big platform. Can I put it out there?
- 24:20Speaker 1: We actually also didn't say that Tammy Hembrough overshadowed Anna
- 24:24Speaker 1: McAvoy's wedding. Because I've seen all these articles in the
- 24:27Speaker 1: Daily Mail coming out like, I've spoken in a podcast,
- 24:30Speaker 1: said this. And it's like, no, we were bringing up
- 24:33Speaker 1: that some people had said that. Yes. And personally, we
- 24:38Speaker 1: were just discussing that it was a bit unusual to
- 24:41Speaker 1: share a group photo where there's two couples kissing. Like
- 24:45Speaker 1: we were teetering on the edge whether she was overshadowing
- 24:47Speaker 1: or not. Just want to put that out there. I mean,
- 24:49Speaker 1: and even since that discussion, I think Tammy has gone
- 24:52Speaker 1: out of her way to allow Anna to have that
- 24:55Speaker 1: spotlight on her. So I think her etiquette since then
- 24:58Speaker 1: has been very good. I think where some frustration is
- 25:02Speaker 1: coming at the moment is because there has been such
- 25:04Speaker 1: an oversaturation of wedding content where it seems a bit overkill.
- 25:09Speaker 1: But if anything, I almost feel bad for Anna because
- 25:12Speaker 1: I recently got my wedding photos back and I've got
- 25:14Speaker 1: them all in little folders. I literally put so many
- 25:17Speaker 1: photos over Facebook because I know that on Facebook, it's dead.
- 25:20Speaker 1: No one really cares. There's no rules on Facebook. There's
- 25:22Speaker 1: no rules. No one cares. But now on Instagram, I've
- 25:25Speaker 1: got like, I want to share something of my reception
- 25:27Speaker 1: and then I want to share something of my ceremony.
- 25:30Speaker 1: But I get that no one else gives a fuck,
- 25:32Speaker 1: but I kind of just want it there for my
- 25:35Speaker 1: own personal thing as a memory. So apologies if anyone
- 25:38Speaker 1: follows me and is sick of seeing it. Well, that's
- 25:40Speaker 1: the reality. You've hit the nail on the head that
- 25:43Speaker 1: after the event, no one really cares anymore. Everyone wants
- 25:46Speaker 1: to know what's next. What are you doing next? Yeah.
- 25:48Speaker 1: And everyone's kind of seen the main photos. And the
- 25:51Speaker 1: reality is that nobody actually cares as much about your
- 25:54Speaker 1: wedding as you do or did. And they all start
- 25:56Speaker 1: looking the same. Like to you, you're like, oh wow,
- 25:59Speaker 1: this is different angle. This is different lighting. But to
- 26:01Speaker 1: everyone else, like, Same white dress, boring, don't want to
- 26:04Speaker 1: see anymore. Well, Anna's strategy seems to have worked because
- 26:07Speaker 1: in the last 30 days, she has gained over 2,500 followers.
- 26:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:11Speaker 1: I wonder also how many she's gained on TikTok because
- 26:14Speaker 1: I think a lot of her content isn't working as
- 26:18Speaker 1: well on Instagram, but it's very much for a wed
- 26:21Speaker 1: talk crowd. I know before I got married, I was
- 26:24Speaker 1: constantly on wed talk trying to find ideas and it
- 26:27Speaker 1: is a really great way that you can grow your
- 26:29Speaker 1: own following.
- 26:31Speaker 4: I go on television.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:33Speaker 2: Oh, television.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:34Speaker 4: I always thought I'd be rather good at that. See
- 26:36Speaker 4: you later, darling.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Yeah, darling. You'll be all right.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Piece of cake. Television, huh? Hello, I'm Patsy Stone. Let's
- 26:44Speaker 1: get into our highs and lows of the week. And
- 26:46Speaker 1: I do want to touch on the fact that Kate
- 26:48Speaker 1: isn't here. Don't worry, anyone. She hasn't gone into labour
- 26:51Speaker 1: or anything, but she is almost 37 weeks pregnant. So
- 26:56Speaker 1: we thought that she needed to have a little bit
- 26:57Speaker 1: of a rest. She did actually contribute to the notes.
- 26:59Speaker 1: I can hear her yelling that some of these were
- 27:02Speaker 1: her topics.
- 27:02Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 27:02Speaker 1: She's been working her guts out and she's 37 weeks
- 27:05Speaker 1: pregnant and she just recently had one of her latest
- 27:08Speaker 1: scans and we said, look, you need to relax. Yes,
- 27:10Speaker 1: you need to remember that you're pregnant. So maybe he
- 27:14Speaker 1: will send Kate some well wishes because she's trying to
- 27:17Speaker 1: chill out at home, but she's been a bit of
- 27:18Speaker 1: a workaholic. Now getting into my high of the week,
- 27:23Speaker 1: It has to be the approaching birth of our nephew.
- 27:27Speaker 1: And I have been blown away by some of the
- 27:30Speaker 1: clothes that Target and Big W have, the baby clothes.
- 27:34Speaker 1: They are so cute, so affordable. They've got like your
- 27:38Speaker 1: favourite characters on there like Spot or Pooh Bear or
- 27:43Speaker 1: Peter Rabbit. Like the cutest stuff. It's made me very
- 27:46Speaker 1: excited and it's made it feel a whole lot more
- 27:49Speaker 1: real because My low of the week though is also
- 27:52Speaker 1: related to my new nephew who's coming in a few weeks.
- 27:55Speaker 1: And it is that I had to have the whooping
- 27:58Speaker 1: cough vaccine done. And I also stupidly got my flu
- 28:02Speaker 1: vaccine done at the same time. And I was completely
- 28:06Speaker 1: wiped out for 36 hours. I couldn't get out of bed.
- 28:10Speaker 1: I was exhausted. I was shivering. I felt like I
- 28:13Speaker 1: was going to faint and vomit. But you know what?
- 28:17Speaker 1: It's worth it to protect the ones in society. Well,
- 28:18Speaker 1: I was going to say, don't let that stop anyone
- 28:21Speaker 1: from getting either of those vaccines if you need them. No,
- 28:24Speaker 1: it's very important to get. Maybe just don't get them
- 28:26Speaker 1: in the same day because, I mean, I didn't have
- 28:28Speaker 1: those as such adverse effects, but Dale also got it.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Brandon's got his recently and you do get very tired
- 28:34Speaker 1: from having both of them, but it's so worthwhile. So
- 28:37Speaker 1: important to get, but yes, avoid getting it on the
- 28:39Speaker 1: same day. So my high of the week has been
- 28:42Speaker 1: getting my new skincare from Trini London. So- I've been
- 28:46Speaker 1: wanting to try out Trini Woodall's skincare products for a
- 28:48Speaker 1: while now. On week one, loving it so far. I
- 28:52Speaker 1: have to keep everyone updated. So far, so good. Well,
- 28:55Speaker 1: the best thing about her products is that on the back,
- 28:58Speaker 1: she outlines how often you should be using them. And
- 29:01Speaker 1: that's an issue that I've had with other products before
- 29:04Speaker 1: is that when there's active ingredients, you have to be
- 29:06Speaker 1: so careful and targeted as to when you use them.
- 29:09Speaker 1: So hers will outline, use this Once a day or
- 29:12Speaker 1: use this once a week.
- 29:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:14Speaker 1: So it's really clear. And the packaging is so nice.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Like when I opened it, it's so sad. I was like,
- 29:19Speaker 1: this is really sad that I'm so excited. But I
- 29:21Speaker 1: got her, it's like this cleanser that came in a
- 29:24Speaker 1: yellow bottle. And it's so cool because you then only
- 29:27Speaker 1: buy sort of the recharge bottles. Yeah, the inserts. So
- 29:30Speaker 1: it's cheaper when you, like next time I buy one
- 29:32Speaker 1: of the bottles. Well, also better for the environment Yeah.
- 29:36Speaker 1: My low is that I'm really disappointed in myself because
- 29:39Speaker 1: I've been meaning to find some songs for my wedding videographer.
- 29:42Speaker 1: So he contacted me this week saying your wedding video
- 29:45Speaker 1: is going to be done in the next week or two.
- 29:47Speaker 1: But can you please send through some music that you like?
- 29:50Speaker 1: And I think it's because I am a fellow videographer.
- 29:53Speaker 1: He's realized I'm probably a bit of a control freak.
- 29:55Speaker 1: But it is so hard to actually pick music. Like
- 29:59Speaker 1: I find it hard enough to pick music for client stuff.
- 30:02Speaker 1: But when it's something as important as your wedding video,
- 30:04Speaker 1: there's this extra level of stress. Well, it's especially hard
- 30:07Speaker 1: because it has to be royalty free music. So it's
- 30:10Speaker 1: not like you can say, oh, this is my favorite song.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Let's chuck that over the top of it. Well, I'm
- 30:14Speaker 1: currently looking for seven different songs I like. Seven? How
- 30:17Speaker 1: long is this video going for? Well, you don't just
- 30:19Speaker 1: use one song. You have like, you know, the atmospheric music.
- 30:22Speaker 1: You have others, you know, the pump up song. I
- 30:25Speaker 1: think he should just pick them, send them to you
- 30:27Speaker 1: and you give the tick of approval. I actually do
- 30:29Speaker 1: like that he's asked me, but I'm a little bit
- 30:31Speaker 1: disappointed now after our discussion on Anna because I've realized
- 30:33Speaker 1: that probably no one's going to care. Look, it's only
- 30:36Speaker 1: you and the family that care. I reckon we'll do
- 30:38Speaker 1: a screening night though. Yeah, definitely. When we get the videos. Well,
- 30:42Speaker 1: I think that's all we've got time for. Thank you
- 30:44Speaker 1: for listening to another episode of Outspoken. If you have
- 30:47Speaker 1: enjoyed it, could you please make sure you are subscribed
- 30:49Speaker 1: on Apple Podcast and also Spotify. You also can become
- 30:54Speaker 1: an Outspoken subscriber. So on our subscriber show this week,
- 30:58Speaker 1: we have spoken about a number of smaller influencer topics
- 31:01Speaker 1: that you can sink your teeth into. And don't forget
- 31:03Speaker 1: to follow the podcast on Instagram at Outspoken underscore the
- 31:07Speaker 1: underscore podcast. You can also follow Sophie, Kate and I
- 31:10Speaker 1: on Instagram. I'm at Amy Torber. So Sophie underscore Torber
- 31:14Speaker 1: and Kate is at Kate Torber spelled T-A-E-U-B-E-R. Is this
- 31:19Speaker 1: just a cheeky thing because we've got our handles, we
- 31:21Speaker 1: didn't have to pay for them like this billionaire woman? Yeah,
- 31:24Speaker 1: thankfully there's not really another Amy Torber out there. There
- 31:27Speaker 1: is another Sophie Torber though. Yeah, she's a very famous
- 31:31Speaker 1: Swiss artist. Apparently my name does feature on some Swiss money.
- 31:35Speaker 1: That's a bit of a... Fun fact. Now, this episode
- 31:37Speaker 1: was recorded on the traditional land of the Kaurna people
- 31:40Speaker 1: of the Adelaide Plains. We pay respect to elders past
- 31:43Speaker 1: and present.
