- 2:28Speaker 3: it up a little bit this morning as far as
- 2:31Speaker 3: our high school football preview goes. Chris Lawrence is on vacation.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Jeff Jenkins is with us right now. Jeff, good morning,
- 2:37Speaker 3: Welcome to the show.
- 2:37Speaker 5: Dave, how you doing.
- 2:38Speaker 3: I am doing fine. And mc guitar Murphy, he and
- 2:41Speaker 3: Tom Bragg will have the Hoover game tonight. MC guitar
- 2:43Speaker 3: Murphy's on the phone with us this morning. Good morning,
- 2:45Speaker 3: mister guitar.
- 2:47Speaker 6: Good Tuesday morning for you.
- 2:50Speaker 3: And happy Easter and it's great to have both of
- 2:54Speaker 3: you here. Hey, before we get to anything else, Jeff,
- 2:57Speaker 3: we got some breaking news. I just heard from Brad
- 2:59Speaker 3: and the court room. As was expected, the plaintiff in
- 3:02Speaker 3: that vaccine trial did not show up. Oh, did not
- 3:05Speaker 3: show up. Did not show up? Right, We'll tried to
- 3:06Speaker 3: talk to Brade a little bit later on. But Brad
- 3:08Speaker 3: literally as we were taking the air, just sitting at Jackson,
- 3:10Speaker 3: said that the mother in that the parent, I guess
- 3:13Speaker 3: and that and that vaccine trial for the second straight
- 3:16Speaker 3: time they moved it from Wednesday to today, did not
- 3:18Speaker 3: show up. Okay, so that does that ended? Or we'll
- 3:21Speaker 3: talk to Brad a little bit later that he's in
- 3:23Speaker 3: the courtroom. Yeh, he's monitoring. But the mother did not
- 3:26Speaker 3: show up. So all right, we'll have more in that
- 3:28Speaker 3: coming up a little bit later on. And Jeff, let's
- 3:30Speaker 3: talk about you and Aaron Parker got.
- 3:32Speaker 5: The end of the night right when we got Yeah,
- 3:33Speaker 5: Aaron Parker will be doing a play a boy play,
- 3:35Speaker 5: and I'll be doing the color tonight. George Washington hosting Huntington.
- 3:39Speaker 5: So this is a great game, one of the top
- 3:42Speaker 5: games in quad. A GW just suffered its first loss
- 3:46Speaker 5: of the season. Last Saturday Crazy game heard here on
- 3:51Speaker 5: five ad w CCHS. It was a Saturday afternoon game
- 3:53Speaker 5: against Jefferson, and I mean Jefferson took the opening kickoff,
- 3:57Speaker 5: ran it back for a touchdown, and you thought, oh,
- 3:59Speaker 5: you know, you know, Jefferson has really good skill players
- 4:02Speaker 5: and they got a lot of speed, and you just
- 4:03Speaker 5: don't know a ton about them because they you know,
- 4:06Speaker 5: they play in the Eastern Panhandle and they play them
- 4:07Speaker 5: out of state teams and that type of thing. But
- 4:11Speaker 5: they're talented and so it gives youw credit though. I mean,
- 4:15Speaker 5: they fell behind by two scores and we keep coming
- 4:19Speaker 5: back and coming back and coming back, and amazingly, even
- 4:22Speaker 5: with no timeouts, had a chance to win that game
- 4:24Speaker 5: at the end, fell just short. They completed a pass.
- 4:28Speaker 5: They were about forty yards or so from from the
- 4:31Speaker 5: goal line. They completed that pass and just ran literally
- 4:34Speaker 5: just kind of ran out of time. So they suffered
- 4:36Speaker 5: their first loss. Quick turnaround. That was a Saturday afternoon game.
- 4:39Speaker 5: Quick turnaround. You are at home and you get Huntington
- 4:44Speaker 5: High tonight, and Huntington is just you know, they're very
- 4:49Speaker 5: talented skill position wise, also a very talented line play
- 4:55Speaker 5: and this will be a good one tonight. G W
- 4:58Speaker 5: Huntington's always a pretty good game and uh so we're
- 5:01Speaker 5: looking forward to this one tonight. G W at home
- 5:03Speaker 5: looking for the bounce back and we'll concentrate there. There's
- 5:08Speaker 5: really good skilled players in this but line play is
- 5:10Speaker 5: going to make a difference because so can GW's defensive
- 5:13Speaker 5: line be able to make some plays tonight? Can their
- 5:16Speaker 5: offensive line move the ball against Huntington?
- 5:18Speaker 3: So we'll see, all right, and you guys will be
- 5:20Speaker 3: on the air.
- 5:21Speaker 5: Yeah, we'll be on the air at seven o'clock because
- 5:23Speaker 5: the pregame show, the kickoff tonight from from George Washington
- 5:28Speaker 5: High is at seven point thirty. Uh and this is
- 5:31Speaker 5: this is really must must listen to type action tonight
- 5:34Speaker 5: because this is this is two of the best teams
- 5:37Speaker 5: in Quada and so it'll be a good matchup this evening.
- 5:40Speaker 3: All right, we'll be listening. You've got outdoors outdoors today
- 5:44Speaker 3: to Marsince. Chris Lawrence is not here. I do not here.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Are you an outdoors guy at all? I love like Chris.
- 5:51Speaker 5: I know I love Venison, Okay, I would love to
- 5:54Speaker 5: eat it.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Wow.
- 5:55Speaker 7: Same.
- 5:56Speaker 5: But you know, if you've been following this his morning
- 6:01Speaker 5: show this week Outdoors Today. He's had this guy on
- 6:04Speaker 5: talking about this turtle all week, this how to how
- 6:07Speaker 5: to skin a turtle, how to you know, how to
- 6:13Speaker 5: you It's been really interesting at at like, you know,
- 6:17Speaker 5: six thirty in the morning to hear her six thirty
- 6:19Speaker 5: five in the morning when it plays. But yeah, so
- 6:22Speaker 5: if you want to, you can go back and listen
- 6:24Speaker 5: to some of those episodes, but about the turtle. But yeah,
- 6:27Speaker 5: so you Chris will be back behind the mic next week.
- 6:29Speaker 5: But uh tonight a good one. Looking forward, she'd be
- 6:32Speaker 5: great weather too. Yeah, you know, really should be absolutely.
- 6:35Speaker 3: You're un borrowed time now that we're in the you.
- 6:37Speaker 5: Know, it might get a little chilly, you know, but
- 6:40Speaker 5: it's football, right, That's what's it's supposed to be. So
- 6:43Speaker 5: uh so we'll look forward to that tonight and we'll
- 6:45Speaker 5: be following the big matchup, so we'll be checking the scores.
- 6:48Speaker 3: All night long.
- 6:48Speaker 5: We following the Logan Mingo Central matchup tonight undefeated two
- 6:52Speaker 5: underfead on Minor Mountain and Minor Mountain tonight.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, co coach Boot's got them playing really, I mean,
- 6:58Speaker 3: and then they've got Chapmanville all also undefeated here in
- 7:00Speaker 3: a couple of weeks. So yeah, it's gonna be a
- 7:04Speaker 3: big one. So and it's you know, first time, this
- 7:06Speaker 3: is nineteen forty four. And before you say it, Murphy,
- 7:09Speaker 3: I was not there in nineteen forty four, just so
- 7:11Speaker 3: you know, first time. It's forty four. The Mighty Logan
- 7:13Speaker 3: Wildcats have gone six. No, all right, Jeff, appreciate it, man,
- 7:17Speaker 3: thanks a lot. See you all right, Murphy?
- 7:18Speaker 8: What are you?
- 7:19Speaker 3: And mister bragg gott tonight you got Hoover and Ripley right,
- 7:22Speaker 3: yes we do.
- 7:23Speaker 4: It is home coming tonight in Elkview, the Ripley Vikings
- 7:26Speaker 4: coming to town. They're three and four on the season
- 7:29Speaker 4: right now taking on the Huskies who are running five
- 7:32Speaker 4: and one on the season.
- 7:34Speaker 6: Ripley's kind of had an up and down season. They
- 7:36Speaker 6: started the year with South.
- 7:37Speaker 4: Charleston and they lost that game late in the game,
- 7:41Speaker 4: and then came back for the next three games and
- 7:43Speaker 4: got WINSDA and the schedule got a little bit tougher.
- 7:46Speaker 4: They played Nitro at Rome County and Winfield and they
- 7:48Speaker 4: lost those three games. That Winfield game last week. They
- 7:52Speaker 4: did some great performances from Cody Lawrence at running back
- 7:55Speaker 4: and Kylie Fisher at wide receiver, but just wasn't enough
- 7:58Speaker 4: to get over the Gym Gnerals of course, by show
- 8:01Speaker 4: Winfield a couple of teams that Hoover has.
- 8:03Speaker 6: Beat this year. For Hoover, they've got the sophomore quarterback.
- 8:07Speaker 4: Peyton Grigsby, who is really settling into this offense. Now
- 8:10Speaker 4: he's new to the program this year, but every single
- 8:13Speaker 4: week he comes out and you can tell his decision
- 8:15Speaker 4: making has just improved greatly. They've been getting a lot
- 8:18Speaker 4: of great performances week in a week out from senior
- 8:21Speaker 4: running back Blake Fisher really on offense and defense, and
- 8:25Speaker 4: they've got a lot of defensive weapons on this team
- 8:28Speaker 4: as well, Sam Key, Dalton.
- 8:29Speaker 6: Meyers, Mighty Lopez.
- 8:31Speaker 4: This Huskies defense really has just been top tier. In fact,
- 8:35Speaker 4: after they took the loss in Week one, the next
- 8:38Speaker 4: five games that they have won his five game win streak,
- 8:42Speaker 4: they have won by a combined score of two hundred
- 8:44Speaker 4: and ten to thirty five, and those thirty five points
- 8:48Speaker 4: have really come mostly in the later point in the
- 8:51Speaker 4: game against jav Squad.
- 8:52Speaker 6: So overall, in terms of the record for the history
- 8:56Speaker 6: of the records, for these two teams. Hoover leeds fourteen
- 8:59Speaker 6: to two for Ripley. So history says that the Huskies
- 9:03Speaker 6: have a good chance tonight. Of course, they won last
- 9:05Speaker 6: year fifty six to twenty eight in Ripley, so we'll see.
- 9:08Speaker 4: What happens tonight. Vikings may have some revenge on their mind.
- 9:11Speaker 4: But it is homecoming.
- 9:12Speaker 3: It is homecoming. Yeah, and it's.
- 9:14Speaker 6: Also kick off tonight.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Go ahead, No, I was just gonna say, it's also
- 9:17Speaker 3: a homecoming for your your school to mine, marsh University.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Tomorrow's on. That's right, got to get a little plug.
- 9:24Speaker 4: Into that te Tire's the season for homecoming. So we'll
- 9:29Speaker 4: have a kickoff tonight over on our sister station, ninety
- 9:32Speaker 4: six to one KWS. Kickoff at seven o'clock. We'll probably
- 9:36Speaker 4: take the air just a couple of minutes before that.
- 9:38Speaker 3: All right, we'll be listening, mister Murphy. I appreciate it, buddy,
- 9:40Speaker 3: Thanks a lot.
- 9:41Speaker 6: All right, Happy Sunday.
- 9:43Speaker 3: It's a happy Kwansay you two. It's something different every
- 9:47Speaker 3: day with me this week. Appreciate you being here and
- 9:49Speaker 3: a reminders sticking around after the game because Fred and

- 10:10Speaker 3: week's about me, please, Pet of the Week. Good morning, Angie.
- 10:13Speaker 3: I have given a different day every day this week.
- 10:16Speaker 3: So happy Wednesday. How's that?
- 10:20Speaker 9: Oh Wednesdays healths perfect?
- 10:23Speaker 3: No, it doesn't. It's Friday. And trust me to tell you.
- 10:26Speaker 9: That puts us back in our weeks.
- 10:28Speaker 3: No, No, we're gonna go with Friday. And how you doing,
- 10:30Speaker 3: my friend?
- 10:32Speaker 9: I have a little chili this morning, but I'm pretty
- 10:34Speaker 9: good other than that.
- 10:35Speaker 3: About thirty eight degrees when I left the house about
- 10:37Speaker 3: seven o'clock or so this morning. It is fall, and
- 10:39Speaker 3: of course tomorrow it's going to be up in the
- 10:41Speaker 3: mid eighties. So it is it's that time of year now,
- 10:43Speaker 3: as always we have our adopt me please put of
- 10:45Speaker 3: the week picture posted Dave Island Radio and Facebook and
- 10:48Speaker 3: also the WCCHS Network Network Facebook page and at Dave
- 10:51Speaker 3: a seventy on X. It's a cat this week, a
- 10:54Speaker 3: cat named Tulip. Tell us the story of tulip Us.
- 10:59Speaker 9: I do want to preface Tulip's story is kind of upsetting.
- 11:03Speaker 3: But it's gonna have that happy But Angie, it's gonna
- 11:06Speaker 3: have a happy ending.
- 11:07Speaker 6: Absolutely, absolutely go with me.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Well, you know, Stephanie, Stephanie, our producer, is also a
- 11:14Speaker 3: cat person. Just saying I've already tried to. I've already
- 11:18Speaker 3: told Tulip story to Leah that works with me in
- 11:20Speaker 3: the office upstairs. I texted her last night and said,
- 11:22Speaker 3: you know, you and your boyfriend really need to we
- 11:25Speaker 3: take a look at Tulip. But tell us tulip story.
- 11:27Speaker 3: It's gonna have a happy ending, though. Go ahead.
- 11:30Speaker 9: Uh so, yes, are you not? Yesterday, the day before yesterday,
- 11:34Speaker 9: it was brought to our attention by a member of
- 11:36Speaker 9: the public that there were two kittens running around our
- 11:38Speaker 9: parking lot. And so we go outside and sure enough,
- 11:43Speaker 9: there are two two month old kittens running around the
- 11:45Speaker 9: parking lot. Uh, they had jumped out of I guess
- 11:48Speaker 9: they had been dumped and jumped out of the cardboard
- 11:51Speaker 9: box they were left in. But our staff tried to
- 11:54Speaker 9: get them and they took off running up the hill
- 11:57Speaker 9: of our shelter, which if you've been to the shelter,
- 11:59Speaker 9: it's full of just like thorns and prickles and just
- 12:04Speaker 9: very sick brush. So we you know, we did what
- 12:07Speaker 9: we could the day before yesterday to get them and
- 12:11Speaker 9: with no success. So we just you know, set up
- 12:13Speaker 9: a lot of warm heidi houses for them to be
- 12:16Speaker 9: comfortable throughout the night. And sure enough they came back
- 12:20Speaker 9: to the shelter for food and all of that yesterday
- 12:23Speaker 9: and our staff plus our wonderful volunteer Erica that we
- 12:27Speaker 9: love so much, we're able to catch them and get
- 12:29Speaker 9: them into the shelter to safety. So they are now inside.
- 12:33Speaker 9: They've been dewormed, vaccinated and treated for fleas, and microchip
- 12:38Speaker 9: and are available for adoption. It's miss Tulip. They're, like
- 12:41Speaker 9: I said, about two months old, and her brother trooper Trooper.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Okay, I only have the picture of Tulip, but you
- 12:47Speaker 3: said that, so they're both available. And somebody asked me
- 12:50Speaker 3: in the office about this about siblings. Should I mean,
- 12:54Speaker 3: you're the expert on this, I'm not. I don't know
- 12:56Speaker 3: that cats bond that much. Maybe some do and some don't.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Somebody asked me the office, would you want to separate them?
- 13:02Speaker 3: Because they said, why I could take one but not
- 13:04Speaker 3: take both? Is that's I mean, tell me how that works?
- 13:08Speaker 9: So cats? It's actually cats and dogs are very different
- 13:11Speaker 9: when it comes to that. So cats are better to
- 13:13Speaker 9: adopt in pairs. You don't necessarily have to adopt siblings,
- 13:17Speaker 9: but they are. They do better in pairs. So if
- 13:21Speaker 9: you already have a cat home and are adopting one cat,
- 13:23Speaker 9: you know that's fine. We're not you know, it's going
- 13:26Speaker 9: to pressure anyone to take both of them. They've only
- 13:28Speaker 9: been together for you know.
- 13:29Speaker 6: Two months of their lifetime right now.
- 13:32Speaker 9: That is not a pressure that we put on adopters,
- 13:34Speaker 9: but it is if you are a first time cat
- 13:36Speaker 9: owner or have no other cats at home, it is
- 13:38Speaker 9: better to adopt cats and pairs, whereas dogs very interesting.
- 13:43Speaker 9: You usually don't want to adopt littermates together because they
- 13:47Speaker 9: develop what's called littermate syndrome, where they rely more on
- 13:50Speaker 9: each other and develop a stronger bond with each other
- 13:53Speaker 9: than they do with you as their owner.
- 13:55Speaker 3: Okay, see I've learned something here today. I didn't. I
- 13:57Speaker 3: did not know that it is interesting with cats because
- 14:00Speaker 3: we started out My wife and I started off with
- 14:02Speaker 3: one cat that we got from your shelter, even though
- 14:04Speaker 3: we didn't live in Charleston. We got we drove from
- 14:07Speaker 3: Logan in nineteen ninety seven ish to pick up a cat,
- 14:11Speaker 3: and we had that cat for a long time. We
- 14:13Speaker 3: introduced another cat that showed up as a stray. Did
- 14:15Speaker 3: not work well. Then we introduced another cat that didn't
- 14:19Speaker 3: work out as well. Now we've got our third cat,
- 14:22Speaker 3: and we introduced a stray last year, and they seem
- 14:25Speaker 3: to get along pretty pretty well. So I guess maybe
- 14:28Speaker 3: you know. I mean, it's weird how that works.
- 14:31Speaker 9: Yeah, they're kind of like people in the way, you
- 14:33Speaker 9: know some some other cats they like some some other cats.
- 14:37Speaker 9: You know, they just do better by themselves.
- 14:39Speaker 3: Just like people.
- 14:41Speaker 9: Yeah, especially with kittens, you definitely want to get well.
- 14:44Speaker 9: I'm not going to put that pressure on anybody, but
- 14:46Speaker 9: getting to is a safe bet. I imagine my cats
- 14:49Speaker 9: when I'm going from work, they're all just sitting around
- 14:51Speaker 9: with like a cup of coffee, chatty.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Talking, junk talking smack about you, Angie, And what time
- 14:56Speaker 3: is that? What time is that lady coming home? Good? God,
- 15:00Speaker 3: we're hungry.
- 15:01Speaker 10: All right.
- 15:01Speaker 3: We'll get back to these cats here in a moment.
- 15:03Speaker 3: They want to talk because were running out of time here.
- 15:04Speaker 3: I do want to talk about Halloween that's happening tomorrow
- 15:07Speaker 3: over at Dutch Miller Subaru. Talk about that.
- 15:10Speaker 9: Yes, we are very excited for Halloween. We've got between
- 15:13Speaker 9: thirty and forty adoptable pets that we're hauling down to
- 15:16Speaker 9: Dutch Miller Super in our caravan. All adoption fees will
- 15:20Speaker 9: be sponsored completely by Dutch Miller. So if you've been
- 15:23Speaker 9: considering adding someone to the family, tomorrow is a good
- 15:26Speaker 9: day to come down and see us and choose one
- 15:28Speaker 9: of our adoptables to do that.
- 15:30Speaker 3: All right, all right, So that's what time does it
- 15:31Speaker 3: start again?
- 15:33Speaker 9: We'll be down there starting adoptions at eleven and we're
- 15:36Speaker 9: going to a four pus.
- 15:37Speaker 3: Eleven to four at Dutch Miller. And they've got all
- 15:39Speaker 3: kinds of other things going on there too, not just
- 15:40Speaker 3: the adoptions. We talked about it with Chris Miller last week.
- 15:43Speaker 3: They got a lot of other things going on there
- 15:45Speaker 3: as well. So if you get a chance to go over,
- 15:46Speaker 3: a big shout out to the folks not only at
- 15:48Speaker 3: Dutch Miller Subaru here in Charleston, but also Subaru in
- 15:51Speaker 3: general because as a company, this is something that they
- 15:54Speaker 3: do nationwide, and so a big shout out to Dutch
- 15:56Speaker 3: Miller Subaru and the Superu Corporation as well. Quick text
- 16:00Speaker 3: here for you. Angie said, they ask about coyotes near
- 16:03Speaker 3: the shelter, and they're pointing this as saying, please, people
- 16:08Speaker 3: should think before they assume it's okay to leave them
- 16:10Speaker 3: outside the building. Is that an issue up there?
- 16:13Speaker 9: So we have seen one coyote, and I have in
- 16:16Speaker 9: my time working at the shelter of the coyotes. We
- 16:19Speaker 9: also have a very dense raccoon population up there, and
- 16:23Speaker 9: for something small like a kitten, that can be very dangerous,
- 16:27Speaker 9: so that I don't think people are understanding when they
- 16:30Speaker 9: do leave them there, Yes, you're getting them too safety,
- 16:32Speaker 9: but when they run away, they're exposed to the elements,
- 16:35Speaker 9: predators as well as all the traffic by the shelter.
- 16:38Speaker 9: So please just come in and talk to us if
- 16:41Speaker 9: you need to get.
- 16:41Speaker 6: Rid of your end.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Somebody wants to make a donation at the Halloween event
- 16:44Speaker 3: with Dutch mital super Rudmar Is that okay? Somebody texted
- 16:47Speaker 3: about that? Can they Can they stop by and make
- 16:48Speaker 3: a donation?
- 16:50Speaker 9: Absolutely?
- 16:50Speaker 3: I mean you're not going to say no.
- 16:52Speaker 9: Oh no, absolutely, but yeah, absolutely stop by make that donation.
- 16:56Speaker 9: You can ask for me directly Angie or Sarah and
- 16:59Speaker 9: we'd be happy to.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Coordinate and not just donations of cash. If people, you
- 17:03Speaker 3: folks take towels, you'll take a lot of it. Because

- 17:14Speaker 3: So you can also take towels. You can take blankets,

- 21:10Speaker 3: I'm doing fun. You're just a regular here.
- 21:12Speaker 9: Now.
- 21:13Speaker 3: What's funny is you know Angie comes in and Tom,
- 21:16Speaker 3: you've been on the show before, but I don't think
- 21:17Speaker 3: you've been in the new studio. And so Angie just
- 21:20Speaker 3: comes in and she just say, okay, you sit here,
- 21:22Speaker 3: you sit here, everybody have turned the phones off and
- 21:24Speaker 3: whatever it is, and you said, it's just like it
- 21:26Speaker 3: work right, Yeah, come on, Angie, I'll let you. I'll
- 21:30Speaker 3: let you introduce her folks here because everybody knows time
- 21:32Speaker 3: to Cuba.
- 21:33Speaker 7: We'll go ahead, mom slash Senator to Cubo. Great, great
- 21:36Speaker 7: local pominologists. He's been volunteering with Health Right for decades.
- 21:40Speaker 7: I'm not going to age both of us. By the way,
- 21:41Speaker 7: I'm like three months older than him, Okay, so I
- 21:44Speaker 7: always have to text him on his birthday and remind
- 21:46Speaker 7: him that he's now as old as me.
- 21:48Speaker 6: Yeah, you do that.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Well he started, he was like doogie howser. He started
- 21:51Speaker 3: it like five right, and and.
- 21:54Speaker 7: We have and doctor Chris Stansberry h long time volunteers
- 21:58Speaker 7: in two thousand and sixty.
- 22:00Speaker 2: He's also the West Virginia Health Right Volunteer of the
- 22:03Speaker 2: Year this year.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Well, congratulations, you've been on the show before. This is
- 22:07Speaker 3: the first time I think you've been at ANEW Studios. Beautiful.
- 22:09Speaker 3: All right, great, it's almost paid for. No, No, it's
- 22:12Speaker 3: not all right, Health Right just keep writing us checks
- 22:15Speaker 3: to us if you could get the ability to pay
- 22:17Speaker 3: for here. All right, all right, so let's talk about
- 22:20Speaker 3: what you got going on. Tomorrow's a big deal. You
- 22:22Speaker 3: guys are jumping anytime.
- 22:23Speaker 7: Tell us about So it's the second annual we Care
- 22:26Speaker 7: West Virginia Day. But actually we've been doing an event
- 22:29Speaker 7: like this since twenty sixteen.
- 22:30Speaker 2: These guys helped me after we.
- 22:32Speaker 7: Had historic flooding in the state and we worked with
- 22:34Speaker 7: promoter Area Medical Center and did that event with him
- 22:37Speaker 7: for many many years. But then when we built onto
- 22:40Speaker 7: our East End facility, you know, we were a few
- 22:42Speaker 7: things we love ran, but they are really rigid in
- 22:44Speaker 7: you know, start times and things like that. By us
- 22:47Speaker 7: taking it over doing our own event, it allowed us
- 22:49Speaker 7: to shift the start time to like eight o'clock instead
- 22:52Speaker 7: of you know, people coming out at three am and
- 22:54Speaker 7: that kind of stuff. So it went great last year,
- 22:57Speaker 7: and these guys have been wonderful since day one and
- 23:01Speaker 7: are coming out again.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Medical League Vision Leader and.
- 23:04Speaker 3: I think a couple I think a couple of our
- 23:05Speaker 3: stations where they are broadcasting live tomorrow. I think V
- 23:08Speaker 3: one hundreds there and maybe and then what do You'll
- 23:10Speaker 3: be there for the beat as well? Tom, you've been
- 23:12Speaker 3: involved in this, doctor and Senator Tom Tacubo, you had
- 23:15Speaker 3: a lot of titles today. Uh. As matter of fact,
- 23:18Speaker 3: I was thinking about this earlier because we have Casey Saxon,
- 23:20Speaker 3: who's in the green room right now. From Bridge Valley.
- 23:22Speaker 3: We may have set a record for the most doctors
- 23:24Speaker 3: on a show at one time possibly and we hadn't
- 23:27Speaker 3: uh and with you Uh Angie, we had Angie Gildwater
- 23:31Speaker 3: from Gonnaal Trust and you Maine Associations. We have two
- 23:33Speaker 3: Angis on the show today, multiple doctors and multiple Angis
- 23:36Speaker 3: on the show today. We have as many these Angies
- 23:38Speaker 3: as we have Daves that work for this company. Just about.
- 23:40Speaker 3: But anyway, I get sidetracked, all right, Senator and doctor
- 23:43Speaker 3: Tom tacub Well talking about your involvement in this and
- 23:45Speaker 3: why it's so and why the work of Health Right
- 23:47Speaker 3: is so important.
- 23:48Speaker 16: Yeah, I mean it's incredible. There's such an inmate need
- 23:50Speaker 16: that Angie every time the state calls, she's there, and
- 23:54Speaker 16: so uh there's so many people that's left out that
- 23:57Speaker 16: that it's one of the scariest things in the world
- 23:59Speaker 16: to be vulnerable, have health care needs and have no
- 24:01Speaker 16: way to afford it or get it. And so volunteering
- 24:05Speaker 16: over Health Right, I've said many, many times it's probably
- 24:07Speaker 16: some of the most appreciative patients I've ever met in
- 24:09Speaker 16: my entire life because they know a lot of people
- 24:11Speaker 16: don't have to be there. They're there for them for
- 24:13Speaker 16: the one reason to try to help them make them better,
- 24:15Speaker 16: and so it's been very meaningful to be part of this.
- 24:20Speaker 16: You know, again, like Angie said, we started back in
- 24:22Speaker 16: twenty sixteen. I think almost every year we have unfortunately
- 24:27Speaker 16: found cancers and things. I know Chris has found. I
- 24:30Speaker 16: think the very first or second time we were there,
- 24:32Speaker 16: found melanom in someone's eyes. And so, you know, it
- 24:36Speaker 16: just is sad to know that there's so much additional
- 24:39Speaker 16: need that's out there that we don't get to. But
- 24:41Speaker 16: it's nice to know that least one time a year
- 24:44Speaker 16: we're helping a lot of people well.
- 24:45Speaker 3: And two you're given an opportunity for people that for
- 24:48Speaker 3: one reason or another don't go for regular health screenings.
- 24:51Speaker 3: And sometimes it's financial, sometimes it's scheduling, you know. I mean,
- 24:55Speaker 3: they're busy, busy taking care of everybody else, and they're
- 24:57Speaker 3: busy with their jobs, people working maybe two to three jobs, whatever,
- 25:00Speaker 3: and they just say, oh, I'll put it off, I'll
- 25:01Speaker 3: put it off, and some knows it never happens. Chris,
- 25:04Speaker 3: talk about that. Obviously we're not going to mention the name,
- 25:06Speaker 3: but let's talk about that experience when you did discover
- 25:09Speaker 3: that someone had him out, went over there.
- 25:11Speaker 17: Yeah, he was just in for a regular checkup and
- 25:13Speaker 17: a pair of glasses and really had no clue that
- 25:16Speaker 17: he had anything significant and going on in the back
- 25:18Speaker 17: of the eye. But we were dilating everybody that day
- 25:20Speaker 17: and taking a good look at the retinal health and
- 25:23Speaker 17: looking in the back of the eye. All of a sudden,
- 25:25Speaker 17: you nothing else looks like this, and all of a
- 25:27Speaker 17: sudden you spot that in the back of the eye.
- 25:29Speaker 17: Your heart sinks and you're trying to figure out the
- 25:31Speaker 17: words tell that patient. Thank heavens though, we got him
- 25:36Speaker 17: scheduled with the local retinal consultants, we got the cancer treated, and.
- 25:39Speaker 3: He lived to tell about it.
- 25:40Speaker 17: He came back several years after that and said, you guys,
- 25:43Speaker 17: help save my life because one of the first things
- 25:45Speaker 17: that cancer does in the eye is metastasized to your
- 25:47Speaker 17: liver and then its lights out.
- 25:48Speaker 3: So you catch it early enough, you're going to save
- 25:50Speaker 3: a life.
- 25:51Speaker 17: And you know, vision is never the same, but he was.
- 25:53Speaker 17: He was a happy man. So that's that's the kind
- 25:55Speaker 17: of impact you can make. And you see those folks
- 25:59Speaker 17: coming in year after year, and it's it's great to
- 26:00Speaker 17: be able to give back in the community, and we
- 26:02Speaker 17: have so much need here is to have said, you
- 26:05Speaker 17: know this, this was born out of the flood in
- 26:08Speaker 17: twenty sixteen, but what we realized was we had people
- 26:10Speaker 17: coming from all over, not just the floods stricken areas,
- 26:13Speaker 17: and we realized we could make a much greater impact
- 26:15Speaker 17: if we made this a regular thing.
- 26:17Speaker 3: And you have you had to put a estimate how
- 26:19Speaker 3: many people came through there last year.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Or how many is okay, five hundred people.
- 26:24Speaker 3: With five hundred people and nine hours last year? Yeah,
- 26:26Speaker 3: so we do so if you figure if you and
- 26:28Speaker 3: it just gets bigger every year. So you may not
- 26:30Speaker 3: have done five hundred the first year, but if you
- 26:32Speaker 3: you know simple math there, if you if you're averaging
- 26:34Speaker 3: four fifty to five hundred, how many how many people
- 26:37Speaker 3: have you have you helped over the years? I mean,
- 26:39Speaker 3: you know, just to get up to you've got the
- 26:40Speaker 3: calculator figured it.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Out next year.
- 26:42Speaker 7: I was thinking today when I came in here, it'll
- 26:44Speaker 7: be nextra be ten years we've been doing it, right.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a lot of people. And again not just
- 26:48Speaker 3: from the Kanav Valley. I mean people learned about this
- 26:50Speaker 3: and they come from you come from all the way.
- 26:52Speaker 2: We actually have people.
- 26:52Speaker 7: Last year we had somebody that was on the parking
- 26:54Speaker 7: lot sleeping in their car at three pm for the
- 26:57Speaker 7: next morning.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Really walk over an hour one year from Yeah, somebody
- 27:01Speaker 3: walked in the hour around to get there. Yeah, when
- 27:04Speaker 3: we had a Decible Center school.
- 27:06Speaker 2: You know, I always feel like West Virginia Health, right.
- 27:08Speaker 7: You know, we have three facilities. Now we have three mobiles,
- 27:10Speaker 7: and we're out there. We see forty six five hundred
- 27:12Speaker 7: people from thirty four counties of our state. So I'm
- 27:15Speaker 7: always thinking, oh, well, people, you know, when people show up.
- 27:17Speaker 7: We're doing this every day. But you know, so it's
- 27:20Speaker 7: a hard reality for me when we get there and like,
- 27:22Speaker 7: you know, there's still people we're not serving this day.
- 27:24Speaker 7: We don't ask for income, We don't ask if you
- 27:27Speaker 7: have insurance or anything like that. One thing that I
- 27:30Speaker 7: hear a lot is, you know, people may have medical insurance,
- 27:32Speaker 7: but they don't have vision benefits, they don't have dental benefits.
- 27:36Speaker 7: This year, we're adding hearing. I don't think I told
- 27:38Speaker 7: you guys we're doing hearing screenings this year. And then
- 27:42Speaker 7: CMC's bringing their mimography unit on site so we can
- 27:46Speaker 7: do that as well. So we've had you know, a
- 27:48Speaker 7: couple of good additions as well.
- 27:50Speaker 3: And everything's free.
- 27:52Speaker 2: It's free. We don't ask any questions.
- 27:53Speaker 7: And what's great is everybody that comes that day signs up.
- 27:57Speaker 7: They're volunteers, and all that we give them is a
- 27:59Speaker 7: you know, a base I mean a football themed uh
- 28:03Speaker 7: you know party, tailgate party with things and stuff.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Thank you for coming today, and you get a T
- 28:08Speaker 2: shirt to you get a T shirt.
- 28:10Speaker 7: You gi have sponsors, you know, we have to recognize
- 28:11Speaker 7: very big in our businesses T shirts.
- 28:14Speaker 3: And talk about the volunteers because I mean, you guys
- 28:17Speaker 3: have a have have a great staff there, but you
- 28:20Speaker 3: couldn't do this. You can do anything without volunteers, but
- 28:23Speaker 3: you especially could not pull this event without volunteers. Talk
- 28:27Speaker 3: about the volunteer.
- 28:28Speaker 7: Doctor Michael Toopta heads up the dental lead and we
- 28:31Speaker 7: have like grieved doctor Greeb's group and he's like a
- 28:34Speaker 7: ho list they all come out. Doctor Takubo heads up
- 28:37Speaker 7: to medical. We've got a lot of medical students. Is
- 28:39Speaker 7: it okay if I say Trevor's coming yea in medical?
- 28:42Speaker 3: Well you just said it and too late.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Now it's out there Trevor's in medical school. We're proud
- 28:47Speaker 2: of him.
- 28:47Speaker 7: He's coming down. We have a lot of students. I
- 28:49Speaker 7: love the fact got GW students coming. I'm a big
- 28:52Speaker 7: fan of integrating students early. It's so important.
- 28:55Speaker 2: I make my.
- 28:56Speaker 7: Kids, you know, come down and see. It's so important
- 28:58Speaker 7: that they see that there's need in their community. And
- 29:00Speaker 7: I feel like if you instill it in students early,
- 29:02Speaker 7: they are willing to give back. And when they're writing
- 29:04Speaker 7: those prescriptions in a room, they're thinking, well, wait a minute,
- 29:07Speaker 7: are they going to have the money to pay for this.
- 29:09Speaker 7: It's not just your job to just write it and say, see,
- 29:12Speaker 7: you know, come back in a month. You need to
- 29:13Speaker 7: make sure that they can actually you know, for the
- 29:15Speaker 7: medication and being there and doing that. I think it's
- 29:17Speaker 7: just so important to give back to community.
- 29:19Speaker 3: I had a text here someone said, would you consider
- 29:21Speaker 3: doing all cancer screening and all cancer screening event checking
- 29:25Speaker 3: for every form of cancer?
- 29:27Speaker 7: Well, you know what, I don't know if anybody can
- 29:30Speaker 7: bring a colonoscope or rounk oscope or anything like that.
- 29:34Speaker 7: I mean, I love the idea. Yeah, logistics, we are
- 29:37Speaker 7: going to be screaming, you know, screaming for cervical cancers
- 29:40Speaker 7: and breast cancers and other things to their limit. There's
- 29:42Speaker 7: some things you cannot do that day. But to the extent,
- 29:45Speaker 7: I'm all about it. Anything preventative and finding well, you
- 29:47Speaker 7: can make it happen somehow, absolutely, And I will say
- 29:50Speaker 7: that that the event doesn't just happen on that one day.
- 29:53Speaker 16: So when we identify needs a lot of what we're
- 29:55Speaker 16: doing that day is making sure that they get circled
- 29:57Speaker 16: into care. Maybe it's the next week or the week after.
- 30:00Speaker 16: So if they're a high risk for screening, we talked
- 30:02Speaker 16: to them about that. We make sure they understand that
- 30:04Speaker 16: and get to a place where they can get that screen.
- 30:06Speaker 2: So it's not a one and done. We're the follow
- 30:08Speaker 2: up sore. So whatever needs.
- 30:10Speaker 3: Done after well like this and that's a great We'll
- 30:12Speaker 3: kind of bring that back to what Chris said. That's
- 30:15Speaker 3: that's you know, you didn't look at that gentleman say well,
- 30:18Speaker 3: you know you got a problem, Look good luck. He
- 30:20Speaker 3: send jo on your way. Here's a T shirt. You
- 30:23Speaker 3: you followed, I mean you followed up with care and
- 30:25Speaker 3: just in time. I know you've seen that as well.
- 30:27Speaker 3: Connect them with the right people. Yeah, and I.
- 30:29Speaker 7: Can't say how great our community is in terms of
- 30:32Speaker 7: medical dental vision providers, and everybody likes to talk about
- 30:37Speaker 7: you know doctors. Isn't that they are so giving in
- 30:40Speaker 7: our community? Just like he said, you know, after the fact,
- 30:42Speaker 7: we're able to connect with people and they donate of
- 30:44Speaker 7: their time and their talent and they take care of
- 30:46Speaker 7: people so that we couldn't do what we do without
- 30:48Speaker 7: our volunteers.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Of a foundation of what we did.
- 30:50Speaker 3: All right, give us the time, the place and all

- 30:58Speaker 2: Most people know where that is.
- 31:00Speaker 7: It may not wear anything else where tears is and
- 31:02Speaker 7: it's it's eight to five.
- 31:04Speaker 2: We say five. That's kind of liquid.
- 31:05Speaker 7: We'll take care of everybody, but you know there'll be
- 31:08Speaker 7: people out there early, I'm sure, but we try to
- 31:11Speaker 7: be really efficient. Every year we improve and we're just
- 31:14Speaker 7: excited about, you know, getting everybody back to what gets
- 31:17Speaker 7: you into the field to begin with. It's just taking
- 31:19Speaker 7: care of Do you need more volunteers that we always
- 31:21Speaker 7: need more?
- 31:21Speaker 3: Okay, what's the best for somebody's listening right now. They say, Hey,
- 31:24Speaker 3: my church group, my civic organization, my uh you know,
- 31:28Speaker 3: high school kids need community service hours. What's the best
- 31:31Speaker 3: way to sign up?

- 31:52Speaker 7: and other volunteers, we're going to bring them over from

- 35:59Speaker 3: so I'm sure at the hospital. So great to have
- 36:02Speaker 3: you here. How was how was the pumpkin dropping?
- 36:05Speaker 20: Gosh, it was so much fun. It was nice that
- 36:07Speaker 20: you and the animal were able to broadcast live. Those
- 36:10Speaker 20: those kids were having a great time.
- 36:12Speaker 3: It was. It actually made for pretty decent radio for

- 36:17Speaker 3: It was reminiscent, as I said of the WKRP in Cincinnati,

- 36:25Speaker 20: Humanity and someone around here should do turkey bowling. Have
- 36:28Speaker 20: you seen those?
- 36:29Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a lot of fun. Yeah, yeah, I mean
- 36:31Speaker 3: at one point I think animals said something as God
- 36:33Speaker 3: as my witness, I thought pumpkins can fly. Oh but
- 36:37Speaker 3: a great event though, Yesdavor, go on ball park.
- 36:39Speaker 20: Think you we had a great time.
- 36:40Speaker 19: We had.
- 36:42Speaker 20: Holy smokes. Ninety three different pumpkins dropped from about two
- 36:46Speaker 20: stories up in those bucket trucks. AP did a great

- 37:06Speaker 3: A belt, a belt like a boxing or wrestling championship.
- 37:11Speaker 3: And let me tell you, you know, having spent time
- 37:13Speaker 3: in the wrestling business, I know belts. When I see
- 37:16Speaker 3: that wasn't a cheap belt. I mean, that was a
- 37:18Speaker 3: great looking belt and it was so fun.
- 37:20Speaker 20: The executives from US Methanol came out to hand out
- 37:23Speaker 20: trophies to the kids, and the little girl who won
- 37:25Speaker 20: the belt, her smile was like the best persons.
- 37:28Speaker 3: Where was she from?
- 37:29Speaker 7: The New River?
- 37:30Speaker 1: New River?
- 37:30Speaker 3: Okay, all right, that's that's awesome. So great event overall.
- 37:33Speaker 3: Will look forward to doing it again next next year.
- 37:36Speaker 3: I talk about this, this cohort thing with the Golden Sacks.
- 37:39Speaker 3: We talked about it once before when you were on
- 37:41Speaker 3: but get back into that.
- 37:43Speaker 20: So a few years ago, Goldman Sacks picked Bridge Valley
- 37:46Speaker 20: as their West Virginia location for a project that they
- 37:49Speaker 20: called ten Thousand Small Businesses. They started it several years ago.
- 37:53Speaker 20: They've actually served seventeen thousand small businesses now, but who
- 37:56Speaker 20: wants to change a good name. And in West Virginia.
- 38:00Speaker 20: They've run it through Bridge Valley so that we recruit
- 38:03Speaker 20: small businesses and Goldman Pace for everything. We bring in
- 38:07Speaker 20: people from all over the state, Goldman Pace for their
- 38:09Speaker 20: mileage and their food and their hotels if they're selected
- 38:12Speaker 20: for this cohort. And what we see with our graduates
- 38:15Speaker 20: is they increase revenue for their small businesses. They're more
- 38:18Speaker 20: likely to hire new people for their small businesses, all
- 38:21Speaker 20: within six months of finishing the program. Lots of folks
- 38:24Speaker 20: who have gone through it before have told me that
- 38:26Speaker 20: it feels like it's a mini MBA, really focused on
- 38:30Speaker 20: how do we make your small business better? So it's
- 38:32Speaker 20: been great for my Bridge Valley business faculty to be
- 38:35Speaker 20: so engaged, but also for our community.

- 38:54Speaker 3: big honor doctor. You folks were chosen one of six
- 38:57Speaker 3: colleges a nationwide for this Looma Foundation talk about that.
- 39:01Speaker 20: Yes, so this was all because of my marketing guy.
- 39:04Speaker 20: He's wonderful. He applied to the Lumina Foundation and we
- 39:09Speaker 20: were selected by them to do what amounts to a
- 39:13Speaker 20: lot of support from the Lumina Foundation to really look
- 39:16Speaker 20: at the data for our region. So what's going on
- 39:18Speaker 20: in West Virginia, what's going on in the valley, and
- 39:21Speaker 20: who from our adult population is looking for college and
- 39:25Speaker 20: what is it that they're looking for. So based on
- 39:26Speaker 20: Internet traffic, based on the crazy amount of data that
- 39:30Speaker 20: you've given to all kinds of Internet providers, it turns
- 39:34Speaker 20: out there are vast databases that we can mind to
- 39:37Speaker 20: really dig into. Oh, the most adults in our area
- 39:40Speaker 20: might be interested in HVAC training. So how do we
- 39:43Speaker 20: get to those families and those people who are most
- 39:46Speaker 20: interested in the training that we have so that we
- 39:48Speaker 20: can marry those up and make sure that they get
- 39:49Speaker 20: what they need.
- 39:50Speaker 3: It's a pretty big honor. I mean when you talk
- 39:51Speaker 3: about this thing. One of six colleges nationwide to be
- 39:55Speaker 3: chosen for this.
- 39:56Speaker 20: Really pleased and pretty excited. We'll be able to launch
- 39:59Speaker 20: that campaign in January. The team's all working on it
- 40:03Speaker 20: right now, but it is. It's wonderful to have West
- 40:05Speaker 20: Virginia be one of those colleges that's been recognized across
- 40:08Speaker 20: the entire country.
- 40:09Speaker 3: All right, let's talk about some fun stuff. All this
- 40:11Speaker 3: has been fun, but let's talk about you doing Family
- 40:13Speaker 3: Fun Night.
- 40:14Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 40:15Speaker 20: So, I don't know if you've ever come to this event, Dave,
- 40:17Speaker 20: but you really like it.
- 40:19Speaker 2: It's for very little kids.
- 40:20Speaker 20: We do trunk re Treat. He's rolling his eyes at
- 40:22Speaker 20: me to the listening audience today. He doesn't want to
- 40:25Speaker 20: be a very little kid.
- 40:27Speaker 3: I can cut your microphone off, Doctors, just so you.
- 40:29Speaker 20: Know you're so sassy this morning.
- 40:34Speaker 3: Kids are fine at a distance. How's that at a distance?
- 40:36Speaker 20: It's a really great event. We do kizza, we do
- 40:39Speaker 20: trunk re Treat. It's a design for parents to bring
- 40:42Speaker 20: their kids up we have so many parents who are
- 40:44Speaker 20: students at Bridge Valley that it really started to as
- 40:47Speaker 20: a way to do that. But we've partnered in the
- 40:49Speaker 20: last couple of years with WVU Medicine Thomas Hospital, so
- 40:53Speaker 20: they also do trunks. They thought there was no reason
- 40:55Speaker 20: for the hospital to do their own Halloween events, so
- 40:57Speaker 20: we're now we're doing it together, which is really better
- 40:59Speaker 20: for the whole community. And then tiny like little scale
- 41:03Speaker 20: carnival games. So I'm not talking about anything that would
- 41:06Speaker 20: particularly be great for a teenager, but if you're six,
- 41:09Speaker 20: it's really fun to get.
- 41:10Speaker 3: Your face painted, or you have casino or gambling. Nothing
- 41:14Speaker 3: I'm out then. Sorry. It sounds like a great event, though, SIUs. Seriously,
- 41:17Speaker 3: how many how many people attend?
- 41:18Speaker 21: It's free.
- 41:19Speaker 20: The last several years we've been right around fifteen hundred people.
- 41:23Speaker 20: We're happy to have you up a fit five.
- 41:24Speaker 3: Thirty up on your campus.
- 41:26Speaker 20: Up on our campus, so it's up at the Tech

- 44:31Speaker 3: quickly go to Brad Michailhanny Uh. There was a for
- 44:34Speaker 3: the second day, second time this week. There was a
- 44:36Speaker 3: hearing schedule to Judge Judge rich Lindsay's courtroom in a
- 44:40Speaker 3: downtown Charleston schedule for nine a m. This morning over
- 44:43Speaker 3: this whole vaccine thing, and again the person did not
- 44:46Speaker 3: show up. Brad is with us right now. Brad, good morning,
- 44:49Speaker 3: Welcome to the show.
- 44:51Speaker 23: Oh hey, good morning. Yeah, that sounds a little anti climactic.
- 44:54Speaker 23: I will say that, you know, I don't know why
- 44:57Speaker 23: this this plaintiff who is a west Side mother didn't
- 45:00Speaker 23: show up, but as you said, it was, didn't show
- 45:03Speaker 23: up for a hearing Wednesday, and then Judge Lindsay reset
- 45:07Speaker 23: it for this morning. Uh, sent out formal notification to
- 45:11Speaker 23: this uh, this plaintiff and again did not appear. This
- 45:18Speaker 23: is a west Side mom representing herself. There was no
- 45:22Speaker 23: lawyer involved, So I mean, I don't want to judge.
- 45:25Speaker 23: Maybe there were reasons, but I will say, you know,
- 45:29Speaker 23: it's not totally anti climactic. One more factor, you know
- 45:35Speaker 23: that maybe I should tell the listeners about Riley County
- 45:39Speaker 23: Judge Michael Froebel yesterday afternoon a class action among all
- 45:46Speaker 23: of the people in in the future who to exert
- 45:53Speaker 23: their religious freedoms under the Religious Protection Law to get
- 45:59Speaker 23: an exemption for West Virginia's compulsory vaccinations for school. Judge
- 46:06Speaker 23: Grobel's order in writing did talk about a pathway for
- 46:11Speaker 23: people to join the class if they have legal questions
- 46:18Speaker 23: in front of other judges in any of the fifty
- 46:20Speaker 23: five counties in West Virginia, like this case in Kanaw.
- 46:25Speaker 23: It says class members who are currently pursuing related actions
- 46:28Speaker 23: and other courts may join this class upon voluntary withdrawal
- 46:32Speaker 23: of their pending claims with leave of the court in
- 46:35Speaker 23: which those claims are pending. Because this plaintiff was not
- 46:39Speaker 23: here today, you know, she couldn't communicate with the judge
- 46:42Speaker 23: to say, all right, I'm out, didn't formally submit anything
- 46:48Speaker 23: to say, look, I'm joining the class under Judge Probel.
- 46:52Speaker 23: By that language, it would have required Judge Lindsay to
- 46:55Speaker 23: sign off on it anyway. So all that to say,
- 46:58Speaker 23: Judge Lindsay went ahead with it. He there were already
- 47:03Speaker 23: materials in writing both from this mom who was the
- 47:06Speaker 23: plaintiff stating her claim, and from the lawyers representing the
- 47:10Speaker 23: Conaw County school Board. And he asked some question. It
- 47:14Speaker 23: was kind of one sided, honestly, but he asked. Judge
- 47:16Speaker 23: Lindsay asked some questions of the lawyers representing the school board,
- 47:20Speaker 23: And you know, he Judge Lyndsey in the end issued
- 47:23Speaker 23: a ruling, so it wasn't climactic by the by the conclusion.
- 47:29Speaker 23: His ruling was opposite of Judge Proble and alongside Judge
- 47:36Speaker 23: Lawrenson of Berkeley County and Judge Paincake of Mineral County,
- 47:40Speaker 23: that the compulsory vaccination requirement for the schools represents coming
- 47:49Speaker 23: good a compelling interest by the state of West Virginia
- 47:53Speaker 23: to try to oppress the spread of communical disease. So
- 47:57Speaker 23: he ruled against the plaintiff, who was not in his courtroom,
- 48:01Speaker 23: and in favor of the kanaw Candy school Board to
- 48:04Speaker 23: go ahead and uh and and not recognize this particular
- 48:12Speaker 23: exemption claim. But you know, more more thoroughly others too.
- 48:17Speaker 3: We have a text about that about the person that
- 48:20Speaker 3: didn't show up. Can they be held in contempt of court?
- 48:26Speaker 23: So I'm only a cave man lawyer, and I didn't
- 48:30Speaker 23: I didn't get the sense that Judge Lindsay was gonna
- 48:33Speaker 23: go there.
- 48:33Speaker 3: Okay, okay, lost her.
- 48:37Speaker 23: Case was dismissed on the grounds, but she can't refile it.
- 48:43Speaker 23: I just think it also would be you know, kind
- 48:45Speaker 23: of small potatoes to go after our westside mom.
- 48:48Speaker 3: I got.
- 48:50Speaker 23: She did kind of waste the time of the judge
- 48:53Speaker 23: and the bailiff and the lawyers representing the Kannaw Candy
- 48:57Speaker 23: School Board, and had asked Judge Lindsay to please proceed
- 49:01Speaker 23: expediently to get it before him as quickly as possible. So,
- 49:05Speaker 23: I mean, it was kind of rude, but I didn't
- 49:08Speaker 23: get the sense he was gonna, you know, send the
- 49:10Speaker 23: bailap after her.
- 49:11Speaker 3: All right, Brad, I appreciate the quick update this morning. Again,
- 49:14Speaker 3: they'll have more on talk line and also we'll have
