- 1:53Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:53Speaker 2: We're dealing with stories locally internationally. Maggie Lewis, President of
- 2:00Speaker 2: the Indianapolis City County Council, putting out a statement regarding
- 2:04Speaker 2: the shooting death of a Beech Grove police officer which
- 2:08Speaker 2: took place yesterday. There was a four hour manhunt. A
- 2:12Speaker 2: suspect is in custody. Brian Elliott was killed in the
- 2:18Speaker 2: line of duty. This from a call to what we
- 2:24Speaker 2: know is a domestic dispute.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I have heard this a couple.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Of different ways, and maybe Ryan Hedrick or I don't
- 2:31Speaker 2: know if John Ede is in the newsroom, it was
- 2:35Speaker 2: this and ambush.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I have heard that now a couple of.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Times, as if the call regarding the domestic dispute wasn't legitimate.
- 2:44Speaker 1: But I want to make sure I've got that story
- 2:47Speaker 1: correct and proper.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Brian Elliott spent two years with the Beach Grove Force,
- 2:52Speaker 2: four years with the Marion County Sheriff's Office, getting his
- 2:56Speaker 2: criminal Justice degree from IUPUI.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Absolutely horrifying to see.
- 3:07Speaker 2: You have the president of the city County Council saying,
- 3:11Speaker 2: I am heartbroken to learn that one of the Beach
- 3:13Speaker 2: Grove Police officers injured and this tragic shooting has died.
- 3:16Speaker 2: This devastating loss has felt far beyond the department, and
- 3:18Speaker 2: it's felt by our entire community. My deepest condolences are
- 3:23Speaker 2: with the officer's family, loved ones, colleagues, and all who
- 3:25Speaker 2: are grieving during this incredibly painful time. We stand in
- 3:30Speaker 2: support of the Beach grow Police Department and all public
- 3:33Speaker 2: safety professionals who dedicate their lives keeping our community safe.
- 3:37Speaker 2: May we honor this fallen officer through our gratitude, our compassion,
- 3:40Speaker 2: and our continued commitment to one another. I only hope
- 3:43Speaker 2: this conversation about respecting law enforcement is being delivered to
- 3:48Speaker 2: schools where you have teachers, administrators, and parents proactively saying
- 3:54Speaker 2: skip school so you could hold signs that read f ice.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Other people may not want to connect the two things,
- 4:03Speaker 2: but other people also are absolute cowards. The statement there
- 4:11Speaker 2: from the Indianapoli City County Council President Maggie Lewis. And
- 4:17Speaker 2: then there's a story of a shooting in Rhode Island
- 4:23Speaker 2: during a youth hockey game. Three people are dead, including
- 4:27Speaker 2: the suspect. It is thought to be a family dispute,
- 4:36Speaker 2: but according to the Pawtucket Police Chief, the confirmed shooter
- 4:39Speaker 2: was Robert Dorgan.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Who also went by the name ROBERTA. Esposito.
- 4:47Speaker 2: I know, I didn't get to any audio for you today.
- 4:52Speaker 2: I didn't get to play the I didn't get to
- 4:59Speaker 2: play any like like, oh my gosh, you won't believe
- 5:01Speaker 2: this right, our popcorn moment stuff.
- 5:05Speaker 1: It's rough morning.
- 5:08Speaker 2: It is an absolutely rough morning locally and nationally, and
- 5:16Speaker 2: don't tell.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Me that the playing into mental illness, the.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Support of mental illness, the cheering of mental illness, doesn't
- 5:24Speaker 2: have a.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Serious, serious effect.
- 5:26Speaker 2: These shootings are happening and there is something connected. You
- 5:32Speaker 2: cannot feed people into the idea of gender dysphoria and think.
- 5:37Speaker 1: That everything's gonna be okay.
- 5:38Speaker 2: You cannot cheer mental illness and think that everything's going
- 5:42Speaker 2: to be okay.
- 5:43Speaker 1: It's not. It just isn't.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I have more thoughts on Rhode Islands, and I will
- 5:53Speaker 2: I will get to that on Tony Kats today at noon.
- 5:57Speaker 1: But every thought.
- 5:58Speaker 2: We've got, as I said, is with Beech Grove, and
- 6:01Speaker 2: I don't. I have no idea what we can do.
- 6:04Speaker 2: But if there is anything you ask, we'll do it.
- 6:09Speaker 2: If it's within our power to do, we'll do it.
