AlterNet, citing New York Times reporting, says the Russian-backed “Doppelgänger” operation is using the Israel-Hamas war as a wedge to damage Democrats and benefit Donald Trump and Republican candidates. Researchers identified more than 50 fake personas posing as Israeli women, supported by a separate network of more than 1,000 accounts that pushed their posts into popular discussions—an estimated 150,000 posts in total.
