- 0:00Hey guys, are going Betty Whiskey here from the Final Fall. We've got
- 0:05a brand new release coming out with a film clip called sold and yeah,
- 0:10pretty excited to do it all again with Heavy mag Beautiful Betty, Good to
- 0:15see you smile and face again. Runner. Yes it's his man always as
- 0:20you say. The final four are premiering in new songs Sold are Selling Out
- 0:24Part two through Heavy at four pm on May tenth. So tell us a
- 0:28bit about the song musically, bro, Yeah, so it's it's a bit
- 0:33of a journey. If you've had our music obviously, it's a lot of
- 0:36punk and metal and a bit of hardcore and there, and this one we
- 0:40once again just wanted to push the boundaries. It's actually the sequel of one
- 0:46of our songs we wrote about a decade ago called Selling Out, and the
- 0:52same with that one, just pushing the boundaries musically and lyrically. Yeah,
- 0:56it's almost I guess sort of that off the aim sold selling Out sould We're
- 1:02just trying to keep the same sort of sequel going. But yeah, just
- 1:07in a short note, just don't sound on your friends or your family,
- 1:11because yeah, that's that's what gets you through life. So now she's an
- 1:17interesting track, mate, We're just over a minute of jamming at the start
- 1:19before the vocals keep in, Like, I actually thought it was going to
- 1:23be an instrumental there for a while. Yeah, that's I guess that comes
- 1:30back to the music, because again, we wanted to do a song that
- 1:34doesn't go verse well into a verse chorus, into a verse chorus, you
- 1:38know that that sort of cliche way to write a song. That's a bad
- 1:42way to put it. But this one, yeah, a bit of a
- 1:46solid intro, which, yeah, it goes through a couple of different journeys
- 1:52through punk and hardcore and metal. And then the main thing with that is
- 1:57there's only really one piece in the music that repeats itself. That's kind of
- 2:02why we did it together. Which finder like songs like I'm sure Propaganda have
- 2:09a few, but the one that comes to mind is Linoleum No Effects.
- 2:13It's one of the best songs ever written and there's no chorus, which is
- 2:16just amazing. So we yeah, sort of got a few ideas off that
- 2:22and just just roll with it to see what we come up with. Well,
- 2:25as you say, man, like you've explored a number of different genres
- 2:28in the one song ranging from punk to hardcore to rock to metal. Could
- 2:32he run us through them all then tell us how they actually fit in with
- 2:36your sound? Yeah? I guess that comes comes from our roots, because
- 2:44yeah, I grew up with a punk and hard cale and Paul he did
- 2:46and called metal beans back in the day, and just yeah, taking it
- 2:50back to where we first met all them years ago and started jamming, and
- 2:53I come up with riffs that I think are punk rock, and then he
- 2:58just plays this huge sort of metal bed I guess. And then that's just
- 3:01how things happen. It's just so easy now we sort of know each other
- 3:05inside out, and he makes Yeah, he makes the rifts even heavier than
- 3:09I guess they are. Like you said, there's a lot going on there
- 3:15bro So and then the writing process, like how difficult is it to get
- 3:20the balance right of all those genres? And like how do you know when
- 3:23you've gone too far with one on not far enough with another? Is it
- 3:25trial and error or do you just do you just know? Jam? And
- 3:31I would say to every bend, just jam out the bits and you know
- 3:36yourself. If like we didn't really have trouble with that, we had it
- 3:40you know, we spent a few weeks, a few months, right,
- 3:44and then I guess, yeah, there was a lot of shopping. I
- 3:49think the hardest bit is getting the chopping changes that some work, some don't,
- 3:53and just finding that balance so it's not all just sort of dropping into
- 3:59each other. They mentioned that this is a sequord of the song that first
- 4:04came out back in twenty eleven, I think, and it was just called
- 4:08selling Out. So thirteen years a long time between drinks, bro Like,
- 4:13how did the songs connect? Do they connect musically? Do they connect lyrically?
- 4:16Do they connect not at all? Yeah? It a bit of both
- 4:20there, because obviously we didn't break up sort of or was it eight nine
- 4:28years ago? I just I just went overseas for a bit of a stint,
- 4:30and yeah, coming back, tried a few different things with music and
- 4:36then always best made with the boys and as funny as as soon as we
- 4:42got back together a few years ago, that was almost the topic, should
- 4:46we do it? It's just our favorite song. I don't know why it
- 4:49just stuck out on the on the record we did back then and selling Out,
- 4:55and I suppose we wrote sort of three four songs and that was maybe
- 5:00fourth, and we're like, right, let's let's try and do a sequel
- 5:02to this, And basically, if you listen to that song, the last
- 5:09breakdown piece, that's the start of this song. So we sort of tried
- 5:14to yeah, great, great a sequel because, as you know, some
- 5:18some suck. That's mainly that's mainly movies when it comes to music. I
- 5:23think, is it's cool. I mean, I'm trying to rattle off a
- 5:28few bands. I'm sure between the Barrider and me have done that a few
- 5:31times. A lot of bands haven't. I think it's awesome because if you
- 5:34like that song, then it's definitely gonna like the sequel too. You know,
- 5:39there could be more, who knows, we might see, but yeah,
- 5:41lyrically it's yeah, just open up another another page of the book of
- 5:47selling Out and just yeah, just just pushing all the all the ideas we
- 5:53have with that song. Fucky is it? Guys are slow readers. If
- 5:56you talk about turning the pages of book like it took me thirteen years to
- 5:59turn one, fucking yeah yeah, I mean yeah, that's just life.
- 6:04It goes quickly. Tell us a bit more about the final four man like
- 6:11you returned after a ten plus year absence last year with a single the pm
- 6:15A Effect, and you find that up earlier this year with Live every Day
- 6:17or Live every Day. But what's the back for those who aren't familiar with
- 6:21the band. Yeah, so yeah, Live every Day that one. It
- 6:25is confusing every time. Yeah, it's yeah, I don't know. Yeah,
- 6:36it does stay ten years, but you know, we're together before that,
- 6:39before we started releasing, So I think we we just spent a year
- 6:45writing new stuff and then yeah, it's only sort of been the last couple
- 6:50of years. We've sort of come out of the shell and start doing shows
- 6:54again and yeah, having an awesome time and a couple of its ten years
- 7:00that's pretty crazy, But I think it's just, yeah, we we were
- 7:04together. We just hadn't really released an egle done any shows. But yeah,
- 7:10just that little quick trip to London and I did sort of nine years
- 7:13ago and sort of stuffed it up for the boys. But well, speaking
- 7:18of that poorly that basically travels the world every month, so yeah, he
- 7:24lives a bloody good life. That sounds like right now. The music world
- 7:30would have changed a hell of a lot in the time from when you started
- 7:33to when you started releasing music again. So did you find a difficult slotting
- 7:38back in as a band with so many changes? Oh? Yeah, I
- 7:45guess so. I mean that excuse me back where we started, Well,
- 7:51yeah, not even the internet was really popping at that stage. I think
- 7:56that was even pre MySpace or whatever it's called. And yeah, we're sort
- 8:01of used to pushing ourselves as the way word of mouth. And again I
- 8:09don't do too much, but there was a lot more music ben news back
- 8:11then, cure pop, you know, there was just there was so many
- 8:18more places to play. And yeah, and that sounds I think it's harder
- 8:24on the show side of things. And as far as recording goes and pushing
- 8:28out there, it's actually a lot easier with the internet now to get your
- 8:31music out there, which is which is a cool thing. Wait, now
- 8:35it's selling out part too, part of a bigger picture made? Or is
- 8:39it just a sand load single? On this stage? Oh, if Clinton
- 8:45was there, he would probably say that we're going to do ten more.
- 8:46So we we did recorded three or four songs and that I don't know,
- 8:58that just stands out even in the studio, got pretty emotional. That's crazy,
- 9:03how you just I don't know, you hear a song and you get
- 9:05goosebumps, but when you're when you're physically singing it, sometimes I just hit
- 9:11you and yeah, that that one got me good in it. I just
- 9:13knew. I just thought that's gonna be my favorite song, and yeah,
- 9:16it definitely is. So for now, we're just going to be running through
- 9:22the singles and see what happens. That's it, mate. Yeah, well,
- 9:26yeah, there's talk of we've already we've already written probably oh three three,
- 9:33yeah, maybe three new songs and a couple of old riffs that sort
- 9:37of got wasted. Yeah, which is kind of nice, just to say
- 9:41they're going to see the light, which is cool. So we're probably gonna
- 9:43look at, yeah, our first actual EP release or I don't know if
- 9:50you call it AP album probably not, I don't know, but yeah,
- 9:54that'll that'll probably come out next year, I reckon. That's that's the plan.
- 9:58Very sweet. I'll see you've been playing a few live shows so too,
- 10:01maye, like, how have they been so good? So fun It's
- 10:05just funny enough if you've been around the scene long enough, a lot of
- 10:09bands are still actually doing it and it's good to see. Yeah, good
- 10:15to see friendly faces and people still getting out there to support because it can
- 10:20be very hard at times. But yeah, the the punkin and well especially
- 10:24that of course scene is just popping off right now, which is awesome.
- 10:28So yeah, it kind of makes life easy doing shows. And we've got
- 10:33some really good ones coming up this month, actually, yeah you have.
- 10:37Speaking of those, you've got two coming up at Vinnie's Dive Bar on May
- 10:41the sevent eighth, and made the twenty second. One of them's are again
- 10:43with a few Southern bands and No Quarter, Gold Coast too, friends with
- 10:48the Animal and out of Control, but on the twenty second it's a pretty
- 10:52big support for you, mate. Tell us about that huge mate, Yeah,
- 10:58I wish I had the shirt, but I haven't got one. Couple.
- 11:01Yeah, So yeah, lords, absolute lords of the punk industry.
- 11:07Belvedere just absolute shredding band. We get a huge, huge inspiration from these
- 11:16guys and just they pushed the boundaries musically and and these vocals are just amazing,
- 11:22and yeah, we're very very honored to be supporting these guys with legends
- 11:28from Perth to Decline. Shout out the pat. I don't know if you
- 11:33help out there with thanks mine. Yeah, just to you know, an
- 11:39absolute shredding Conani band. And then the Decline is just Aussie punk legends.
- 11:45You know, it's still like living in and friends will have done a lot
- 11:46of shows with them, but still going. So hats off to those guys.
- 11:52And then you've got one on the eight eighth of the Punk and Pain
- 11:56Flash, which is a bit of a tattoo convention from what I can Yeah
- 12:01again, just you know, we're just sort of excited to do some shows
- 12:05and definitely something different. So the boys resident I've known a few years,
- 12:09they're legends and Big Jimbo yeah started putting some really cool things on there,
- 12:15and yeah we're stokes to play that with. My good old friend English is
- 12:20a new band, Black Black Vatican Desk Squad, probably the best name I've
- 12:24ever heard. Where's that one? That bro? I couldn't couldn't find a
- 12:28location for it? What's that means? Someone that I couldn't find a location
- 12:33for it? Oh? So iron A resin in corumb It's awesome. The
- 12:39boys love Hope Rods and Harley's and bikes and just good coffee. And yeah
- 12:46they've got a bar which is great, you know, a beer two and
- 12:48watch them my music. Just it's a cool place and yeah birds are fake,
- 12:52they're really cool to that. They're on the bill as well, so
- 12:54very cool. Tattoos come and get tatted fucking more? Can you want today?
- 13:03Then? Looking forward, you've got Rock Beats Depression at the Mansfield Tabnent
- 13:07on September seventh too. That's always a good cause. But there there's a
- 13:11lot of good bands playing there this year. Good bands, mate, Yeah,
- 13:13I can never she had out enough to Katie. She's an absolute legend
- 13:18and yeah, I cannot imagine it's hard enough to put on one show with
- 13:22four or five yeah, that many bands and four of course too. There's
- 13:26a lot of work that's good on you, Katie. Yeah, Rock Beats
- 13:31Oppression, Yeah, really good mix of punk, metal, hardcore and and
- 13:35whatever else is on the bill. So yeah. Oh and I noticed looking
- 13:39through your Facebook page there's links to all of those shows on there where people
- 13:41can buy chickens and find out more information. So is that the best place
- 13:46to hit you up on your facy? Yeah face your Instagram one of the
- 13:48two. Yeah, fantastic mate. All right, Well thanks for your timing
- 13:52and Betty always approach to chalk with you. Mate. The track sold selling
- 13:56out. Part two premieres at four pm. I made the tenth and it's
- 14:01another slab of fucking insanity from you guys, bro Like, I wish you
- 14:05put out more to fucking loveless learns. But yeah, well that's the plan.
- 14:09Next year, hopefully we can hopefully Pauli stays in the country for longer
- 14:13than a month. And yeah, we've got some got some really cool things
- 14:18coming up, so yeah, we're excited.
