- 0:09Speaker 1: Alarm you need the shock circuit with Sonya and Joakim.
- 0:13Speaker 2: 987. Unfortunately for our darling Sonia Chew, another day of MC.
- 0:18Speaker 2: She's really taking her time to recover after what the
- 0:21Speaker 2: haze has caused, not just her, but I'm very sure
- 0:24Speaker 2: loads of others here in Singapore, but we say this
- 0:27Speaker 2: and then I look at whatever's happening over at Kalimantan.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Again, we want to send our friends over at Indonesia
- 0:33Speaker 2: all the love. This is not their doing, just again,
- 0:37Speaker 2: a few people being irresponsible, setting the forests on fire
- 0:42Speaker 2: and the smoke is blowing over to the region, not
- 0:45Speaker 2: just in Singapore, but our friends in Malaysia, Brunei, maybe
- 0:48Speaker 2: even the Philippines as well. I think yesterday,
- 0:51Speaker 2: I saw a post compiling all the different regions affected
- 0:55Speaker 2: by the haze, but that's it. On the topic of
- 0:58Speaker 2: Bruno Mars, don't forget he'll be here for 4 nights
- 1:02Speaker 2: in Singapore, the National Stadium, featuring Anderson Paak as DJ
- 1:06Speaker 2: Pee Wee. So, I'm very sure there'll be a segment
- 1:10Speaker 2: where Silk Sonic, Bruno Mars, and Anderson Paak take the
- 1:13Speaker 2: stage and sing us their favorite songs to perform for us.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Live at the National Stadium, 13th, 14th, 17th, and 18th
- 1:23Speaker 2: of April. Now, one might wonder, given how he's spending
- 1:26Speaker 2: so many nights here in Singapore, will he be filming
- 1:30Speaker 2: a music video or like an STB sponsored ad? I wonder. Now,
- 1:35Speaker 2: given how it's Friday, 16th of October, congratulations to our
- 1:39Speaker 2: friends over at Street Fighter. The movie is out.
- 1:44Speaker 2: If you have no plans over the weekend, you might
- 1:46Speaker 2: wanna go catch that one or if you want to
- 1:49Speaker 2: do support our local films, and of course, Sandbox the
- 1:53Speaker 2: movie available for you in cinemas as well if you
- 1:56Speaker 2: wanna go watch and enjoy some locally made films. But
- 2:00Speaker 2: when we come back, we are about maybe say 2
- 2:03Speaker 2: months plus away from Avengers Doomsday. Very excited. Cannot wait
- 2:09Speaker 2: to see.
- 2:09Speaker 2: See what happens and how they tie in all the storylines,
- 2:13Speaker 2: not just with the films, with some of the series
- 2:15Speaker 2: as well. I think the vision is available for you
- 2:18Speaker 2: on Disney Plus, but when we come back, some test
- 2:21Speaker 2: screening results for Avengers Doomsday, and they are out on
- 2:26Speaker 2: all your favorite gossip columns. I'll summarize some reports for
- 2:30Speaker 2: you in just a bit here on the shock circuit,
- 2:32Speaker 2: just to give you what you can.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Look forward to when it comes to Avengers Doomsday, December
- 2:37Speaker 2: 17th 18th, Singapore time. And speaking of the word leak,
- 2:42Speaker 2: hopefully no leaks will come out for Avengers Doomsday, whether
- 2:46Speaker 2: on social media or on your favorite gossip column websites
- 2:51Speaker 2: because some test screenings have been conducted already. And let
- 2:56Speaker 2: me just read to you one review, OK?
- 2:59Speaker 2: According to this account called Marvel Movies, it's nothing affiliated
- 3:03Speaker 2: to Marvel, maybe like a fan-made account that has since
- 3:06Speaker 2: gone viral and lots of following, lots of people started
- 3:10Speaker 2: following this because it's seen as a legitimate legitimate source, right?
- 3:14Speaker 2: It says, Disney is reportedly panicking over Avengers Doomsday test screenings.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Early viewers describe it as a completely humorless, harrowing bloodbath
- 3:25Speaker 2: with a massive superhero death toll. One insider claims it
- 3:30Speaker 2: feels like a mass execution of the franchise.
- 3:34Speaker 2: To our friends over at Disney, I don't know what
- 3:37Speaker 2: you're panicking about because this means it's gonna be a
- 3:40Speaker 2: good movie.
- 3:45Speaker 2: I'm, I'm cheering for this because about time we had
- 3:50Speaker 2: something like this. So, I, I, I really hope this
- 3:53Speaker 2: review doesn't send Disney into a panic. I hope it
- 3:56Speaker 2: gives them the encouragement that yes, they are on the
- 3:59Speaker 2: right path because I really wanna see how dark they
- 4:03Speaker 2: go with Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Junior, but again,
- 4:07Speaker 2: a huge rumor that Cillian Murphy could be the actual.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Cast member playing Doctor Doom. We will only find out
- 4:15Speaker 2: December 17th, December 18th, Singapore time when it's out in cinemas.
- 4:20Speaker 2: I cannot wait. And yesterday, Georgina and I actually had
- 4:25Speaker 2: the chance to go on down all the way to
- 4:27Speaker 2: Anchorvale to Anchor Green Primary School to the P6s. Thank
- 4:32Speaker 2: you so much for your kind attention and I really
- 4:34Speaker 2: hope you enjoyed your assembly on a Thursday afternoon. Well
- 4:37Speaker 2: done to you.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Some amazing students that I met in person wanna say
- 4:43Speaker 2: hello to Sanjana, the likes of Nathan as well, your
- 4:46Speaker 2: head prefect, very well spoken, brought some of the P6s
- 4:50Speaker 2: up on stage to do a short 987 DJ script,
- 4:53Speaker 2: and they delivered. They were really amazing. And I remember
- 4:57Speaker 2: asking them, uh, who do you listen to? What are
- 5:00Speaker 2: some of your favorite songs, and they
- 5:02Speaker 2: Sang some Bruno Mars, if I'm not wrong. Some told
- 5:05Speaker 2: me they listen to K-pop artists and all. So it's
- 5:07Speaker 2: very good to get all these info from the core
- 5:11Speaker 2: demographic on what makes 987, and I'm really happy to
- 5:14Speaker 2: always meet you at your school invasions. On to the
- 5:17Speaker 2: next one. I don't know when I'll be going to
- 5:19Speaker 2: another school again. I think my colleagues at the back
- 5:21Speaker 2: end will tell me, and hopefully it's either me and
- 5:23Speaker 2: Sonia or
- 5:24Speaker 2: Me and your other favorite 987 DJ, we'll be there
- 5:27Speaker 2: to give you an assembly of a lifetime and hopefully
- 5:30Speaker 2: just before school closes for the end of year holidays.
- 5:34Speaker 2: And OK, I'm, I'm all for kampong spirit. I'm all
- 5:38Speaker 2: for being nice to your neighbors, but we need to
- 5:41Speaker 2: draw the line, OK? There needs to be a great
- 5:44Speaker 2: boundary here, a good boundary.
- 5:47Speaker 2: When it comes to, for example, if my house is
- 5:50Speaker 2: going through renovations, if you're my neighbor and you want
- 5:53Speaker 2: a capo, at least wait for me to be there
- 5:55Speaker 2: and ask me first before you go into my house
- 5:58Speaker 2: because we're seeing a rise of such cases, especially for
- 6:02Speaker 2: the year 2026. And even if you follow Class 95,
- 6:07Speaker 2: you know Mutton's producer K-pop Gin, uh, she has a
- 6:10Speaker 2: viral video of herself.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Doing a video at home and suddenly she hears someone
- 6:15Speaker 2: tampering with the door. Someone was trying to go into
- 6:18Speaker 2: a house to go and capo the renovations and all that,
- 6:21Speaker 2: and she confronted the person without showing his or her face,
- 6:24Speaker 2: and that video has since gone viral. In the comments section,
- 6:27Speaker 2: people were saying, Oh my God, I strongly relate to
- 6:29Speaker 2: this because people were entering my home during renovations. I'm
- 6:33Speaker 2: gonna give you two examples, yeah. One happened.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Over at Tengga, and if I'm not wrong, the other
- 6:40Speaker 2: one could have happened over at Chua Chu Kang. So
- 6:42Speaker 2: the one over at Tengga was during renovations. Strangers were
- 6:46Speaker 2: entering this person's home, and they were asking questions to
- 6:49Speaker 2: the contractors and the workers, saying, Oh, this one, what
- 6:51Speaker 2: tiles are? Oh, what kind of paint using for the
- 6:53Speaker 2: walls and all that. And thankfully everything was caught on
- 6:56Speaker 2: handphone camera and CCTV as well. And for the incident
- 7:00Speaker 2: over at Chua Chu Kang.
- 7:01Speaker 2: This one, OK, if Sonia were here, she would be
- 7:06Speaker 2: saying things like, Hey, joking, but maybe this could have
- 7:08Speaker 2: really been an emergency. Maybe this lady really needed to
- 7:12Speaker 2: use the restroom. So there was a house that was
- 7:15Speaker 2: undergoing renovations over at Chu Chu Kang, and a random
- 7:18Speaker 2: lady enters the home, and thankfully the homeowner was there. OK,
- 7:24Speaker 2: Random lady enters the home and uses the restroom.
- 7:27Speaker 2: And the homeowner went, eh, somebody's in the restroom. Who's, who's,
- 7:31Speaker 2: who's in there? And out comes a lady that nobody knows.
- 7:34Speaker 2: And then she goes, um, hello, you're not supposed to
- 7:36Speaker 2: be doing this. And then the person who used the
- 7:39Speaker 2: toilet said, Oh, but I asked this contractor they can
- 7:43Speaker 2: use no such thing.
- 7:45Speaker 2: So please, uh, if you're gonna go do your renovation
- 7:48Speaker 2: works and all that, I think the first important thing
- 7:51Speaker 2: you need to get is CCTV and maybe have a
- 7:54Speaker 2: chat with your ID and your workers to allow only
- 7:57Speaker 2: a select few people in, like it could be you,
- 8:00Speaker 2: your family member, or a trusted friend to make sure
- 8:03Speaker 2: that ren works are going well because again,
- 8:05Speaker 2: I'm all for kampong spirit, but there needs to be
- 8:07Speaker 2: a clear boundary here, right? When we go from American
- 8:10Speaker 2: girls to Singaporean buses, what a jump. Um, taking place
- 8:15Speaker 2: at the area of Yishun. Again, what came first, the
- 8:19Speaker 2: happenings or the stereotype, right? And I'm glad firstly that
- 8:23Speaker 2: I'm able to share this with you live on air
- 8:25Speaker 2: because nobody was seriously injured, so thank goodness for that.
- 8:28Speaker 2: But this is a once in a blue moon kind
- 8:31Speaker 2: of accident that involves 3 buses, and the numbers are
- 8:36Speaker 2: in descending order. So the people that reported this accident
- 8:40Speaker 2: on the press outlets as well, they knew exactly what
- 8:43Speaker 2: they were doing. All they did was give us the
- 8:45Speaker 2: details and they ended the article right there. So, it
- 8:49Speaker 2: took place at Block 790, Yishun Avenue 2, about 3:05 p.m. yesterday, OK?
- 8:58Speaker 2: Bus number 853 rear-ended bus number 852, which then caused
- 9:05Speaker 2: a chain collision with bus number 851.
- 9:12Speaker 2: I kid you not, it really happened. It's available for
- 9:15Speaker 2: you online. And with the prevailing haze conditions here in Singapore,
- 9:20Speaker 2: I'm just gonna give you a very quick 24 hour
- 9:22Speaker 2: PSI update. It ranges from 146 to 224. So, to
- 9:28Speaker 2: give you more detail, 146 in the north, 195 for
- 9:33Speaker 2: both the west and the eastern side in Singapore, 180
- 9:37Speaker 2: in the south side of Singapore, and 200.
- 9:40Speaker 2: And 24 entering the very unhealthy range in the central
- 9:45Speaker 2: region of Singapore. That's as of 7 a.m. and the
- 9:48Speaker 2: 1 hour p.m. 2.5 readings ranges from 93 to 149. So, if, again,
- 9:58Speaker 2: by some miracle, you are thinking of running in outdoors
- 10:03Speaker 2: in the central or the eastern area of Singapore, I
- 10:06Speaker 2: think
- 10:07Speaker 2: It's the hardest hit when it comes to the PSR
- 10:09Speaker 2: and the p.m. 2.5 readings, and that's why our friends
- 10:12Speaker 2: over at Active SG, they have temporarily closed outdoor and
- 10:17Speaker 2: non-air conditioned facilities at Active SG sports facilities in the
- 10:22Speaker 2: east and central regions first. So areas like maybe say
- 10:27Speaker 2: Bishan swimming complex, Jalan Besar Stadium, Bishan Stadium, Bishan Clubhouse.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Active SG sport Park at Tey Gi swimming Complex. It's
- 10:37Speaker 2: all been temporarily closed because of the haze. So, if
- 10:40Speaker 2: you want full details and where it's open and where
- 10:44Speaker 2: it's closed, you might want to log on to active
- 10:46Speaker 2: SG circle.gov.sg. They have the full list on which areas
- 10:51Speaker 2: are open or closed due to the prevailing haze conditions
- 10:55Speaker 2: and maybe even the upgrading works as well. So, yeah.
- 10:59Speaker 2: And unfortunately, from what it looks like, the haze is
- 11:02Speaker 2: here to stay a while more. Very soon, it's the
- 11:06Speaker 2: Garmin Half Marathon happening 25th of October. I don't know
- 11:11Speaker 2: whether it be canceled or not because the organizers themselves
- 11:15Speaker 2: have released statements that they'll monitor the PSI and the p.m. 2.5.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Conditions 24 hours before and they'll make a decision whether
- 11:23Speaker 2: to reduce the 21 km to a 10 km route
- 11:26Speaker 2: or cancel the event entirely. And also, if you're a
- 11:29Speaker 2: big fan of Big Bang, please make sure you pay
- 11:32Speaker 2: close attention to the Hayes advisories. Apparently, if it crosses
- 11:37Speaker 2: over 300.
- 11:39Speaker 2: There might be some postponements or cancellations as well. Again,
- 11:43Speaker 2: stay very close to our friends at the Kallang or
- 11:45Speaker 2: AG AEG Live. There you go. How's your Friday going?
- 11:49Speaker 2: Hope you're doing OK and hope you're not too triggered
- 11:52Speaker 2: by the haze here in Singapore. But what I was
- 11:56Speaker 2: kinda low key triggered about yesterday was the topic that
- 12:00Speaker 2: we did. It's a thread now that's kind of gone
- 12:03Speaker 2: viral on Reddit.
- 12:04Speaker 2: And people have been reading it and some local press
- 12:07Speaker 2: outlets even covered it on their sites as well, where
- 12:09Speaker 2: a man actually was open inverted commas, forced to pay
- 12:13Speaker 2: $741 for a first date meal over at Imperial Treasure
- 12:18Speaker 2: at Ion Orchard, and I asked the question yesterday about
- 12:22Speaker 2: how much are you willing to part with when it
- 12:24Speaker 2: comes to a first date. Again, perhaps it's relative to
- 12:28Speaker 2: how much you earn.
- 12:29Speaker 2: And really, if you want to impress someone on the
- 12:33Speaker 2: first date, right? So, I gave my personal view that
- 12:35Speaker 2: maybe for me, a budget of within, within $100 to
- 12:39Speaker 2: $150 I think I'll be OK with that and if
- 12:42Speaker 2: the restaurant allows, maybe a small glass of wine. So,
- 12:46Speaker 2: I want to branch out from that and again, maybe
- 12:50Speaker 2: help anyone who might be planning a first date or
- 12:52Speaker 2: a second date with some potential partner of yours.
- 12:56Speaker 2: What is your preferred cuisine when it comes to a
- 12:59Speaker 2: first date? I'm a bit capo here because, um, I, I,
- 13:03Speaker 2: I don't know why, but I feel as if when
- 13:05Speaker 2: it comes to Singaporeans, the popular choice for a cuisine
- 13:09Speaker 2: when it comes to your first date, Japanese.
- 13:11Speaker 2: It, it doesn't have to be Oakase or whatsoever, just
- 13:13Speaker 2: a simple Japanese restaurant or shabu shabu, but Japanese, they, they,
- 13:17Speaker 2: they find it easy to eat and easy to consume,
- 13:20Speaker 2: and it's not too filling if you order the correct portions.
- 13:24Speaker 2: For yours truly though, I, I might go with Italian, yeah,
- 13:27Speaker 2: like some pasta and pizza and maybe a small glass
- 13:31Speaker 2: of wine. That, that to me is a nice first date,
- 13:34Speaker 2: but
- 13:34Speaker 2: I don't know. I feel like I belong in the
- 13:36Speaker 2: minority when it comes to cuisine choices here for a
- 13:39Speaker 2: first date in Singapore. So, you know what? I want
- 13:42Speaker 2: to open up the phone lines, 669-119-87 or maybe even WhatsApp, 90050987.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Cuisine choices, when it comes to a first date here
- 13:53Speaker 2: in Singapore.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Not to turn this into a whole romance column, but
- 13:56Speaker 2: I feel like news about going on dates, public service officers,
- 14:01Speaker 2: having the first date app as well. Maybe your answers
- 14:04Speaker 2: could help them. You never know. On the topic of
- 14:06Speaker 2: your preferred first date cuisine.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Yeah. Preferred cuisine for your first date. There you go.
- 14:13Speaker 2: And if you like Japanese food, I guess you get
- 14:16Speaker 2: the most common answer here in Singapore because I wanna
- 14:20Speaker 2: say good morning to Benjamin. I also wanna say good
- 14:23Speaker 2: morning to Cindy who says, hey, Joakim, yes, you're absolutely right.
- 14:27Speaker 2: First choice cuisine for me will be Japanese food. I
- 14:29Speaker 2: wanna say good morning to Lily. Lily with a bit
- 14:32Speaker 2: of a different answer. Hey, Joakim, I want to know
- 14:35Speaker 2: if my
- 14:35Speaker 2: Date can handle my kind of food, so I often
- 14:38Speaker 2: suggest Korean barbecue or mala. I want to see if
- 14:41Speaker 2: they're adventurous. If we are sweating, laughing, and trying to
- 14:44Speaker 2: figure out how spicy the food is, at least we
- 14:46Speaker 2: have something to talk about. I don't want a date
- 14:48Speaker 2: that feels like a job interview. I want to know
- 14:51Speaker 2: if we can have fun together. OK. I, I, I,
- 14:54Speaker 2: I see where you're going with this, Lily, but here's
- 14:56Speaker 2: the thing. When it comes to Korean barbecue, at least,
- 15:00Speaker 2: you know, when you have sangkoksal.
- 15:01Speaker 2: They will serve you with some garlic and well and
- 15:03Speaker 2: all that. So if you have the garlic, right, and
- 15:05Speaker 2: the first date's going really well, there's chemistry, you know,
- 15:08Speaker 2: you don't mind kissing on the first date, you hold
- 15:10Speaker 2: each other's hands after and you're going in for that kiss.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Both of you with garlic breath. Hey, if you're down
- 15:15Speaker 2: and he's down, why not? Who's complaining? Keep the calls
- 15:18Speaker 2: coming in over at 669-011-987 or you can WhatsApp.
- 15:23Speaker 2: at 90050987. Your preferred choice of food when it comes
- 15:28Speaker 2: to a first date here in Singapore. Let us know.
- 15:31Speaker 2: We're right here on 987, your number one hit music station.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Joakim Gomez is here with you on the topic of
- 15:36Speaker 2: your preferred choice of food or cuisine, when it comes
- 15:40Speaker 2: to the first date with a potential partner.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Of yours in the future. Wanna go to WhatsApp and
- 15:47Speaker 2: say hello to a few people. Firstly, to Stella. Stella
- 15:50Speaker 2: says this, casual cafe or bar with live bands like Wheeler,
- 15:54Speaker 2: Estate or Timber, if it gets awkward, there'll be no
- 15:57Speaker 2: painful silences. If it doesn't, still a nice atmosphere and
- 16:01Speaker 2: can talk between the sets. Yes, Stella, I agree, but
- 16:04Speaker 2: here's the thing.
- 16:06Speaker 2: And this happened a few years ago. I was on
- 16:08Speaker 2: a fantastic first date. Fantastic. It was going well. The
- 16:11Speaker 2: convo was good. Then the band started playing and we
- 16:15Speaker 2: had to talk a little bit louder, but then we realized, OK,
- 16:17Speaker 2: there's no point in competing with the band. Let's just
- 16:19Speaker 2: enjoy the music. So after the 45 minute set, and
- 16:23Speaker 2: we went back to
- 16:24Speaker 2: The convo. Both of us said the same thing. So
- 16:26Speaker 2: what were we talking about? And we burst out laughing.
- 16:28Speaker 2: So yeah, it was a great first day, but if
- 16:31Speaker 2: you want to have like an intimate 1 to 1
- 16:33Speaker 2: convo and it's really going well, maybe, yeah, wait for
- 16:37Speaker 2: the band to finish and, then start the convo before
- 16:40Speaker 2: they play, they play the next set. Wanna also say
- 16:42Speaker 2: good morning to Wayne. Wayne on WhatsApp saying, hey, Joakim,
- 16:46Speaker 2: I would choose Italian cuisine.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Because a first date should be like a good pasta,
- 16:52Speaker 2: full of chemistry, a little saucy and impossible to forget.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Imagine sharing a strand of spaghetti, each of us biting
- 16:59Speaker 2: on the end and slowly using our tongue to get
- 17:02Speaker 2: closer till we kiss.
- 17:05Speaker 2: Isn't this that movie? The Lady and the Tramp, the
- 17:08Speaker 2: cartoon movie of the two dogs? Again, thank you so
- 17:11Speaker 2: much for your texts and one coming in from Ali. Hey, Joakim,
- 17:14Speaker 2: I think going with her choice would be the best option.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Get to know her favorite cuisines and make that your first.
- 17:21Speaker 2: First date, 99% she'll like it. Missing the 1% because
- 17:25Speaker 2: you're the one for her. Hey, why? What a smooth talker, man, Ali.
- 17:29Speaker 2: On the topic of your preferred cuisine when it comes
- 17:31Speaker 2: to your first date here in Singapore, just branching out
- 17:35Speaker 2: from yesterday's topic about how a man was made to
- 17:38Speaker 2: pay $741 for his first date with a lady.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Over at the Imperial Teochew Cuisine at Ion. Yeah, that's
- 17:46Speaker 2: a one Michelin star restaurant, but perhaps maybe it could
- 17:50Speaker 2: also be relative to how much you earn. But when
- 17:53Speaker 2: it comes to first date choices here in Singapore, I
- 17:56Speaker 2: think the most common answer we're getting so far is
- 17:59Speaker 2: Japanese cuisine. Easy to eat, you might not overorder as well,
- 18:03Speaker 2: but one coming in from, let me just get your
- 18:06Speaker 2: name correct. Satish. Hello Satish.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Satish to say, I think about this way too much.
- 18:12Speaker 2: No crabs, no burgers that are too big, no mala
- 18:16Speaker 2: because I'll be perspiring.
- 18:20Speaker 2: What about your spice Satish and definitely no hot pot
- 18:23Speaker 2: because my hair will smell afterwards. I might choose Italian,
- 18:27Speaker 2: order pasta, and then spend the whole dinner worrying about
- 18:30Speaker 2: sauce on my face. Honestly, dating is exhausting.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Ayo Satish, you sound so jaded. I want to give
- 18:37Speaker 2: you a hug. Also, go to the phone lines over
- 18:39Speaker 2: at 669-119-87. Wen Yi, what's your story? Well,
- 18:44Speaker 1: my first, my preferred cuisine will be fast food, a
- 18:47Speaker 1: bit different from what I've been hearing. Oh really?
- 18:51Speaker 1: Yes, specifically KFC, like chicken. I want to devour the
- 18:55Speaker 1: pieces in my hands and then see if it turns
- 18:57Speaker 1: my partner off. And then, um, well, I did that
- 19:01Speaker 1: when I was 19. That was quite long ago. And
- 19:03Speaker 1: then the guy is my husband now. Hey,
- 19:05Speaker 2: wow. OK, so can you tell me your best memory
- 19:09Speaker 2: of that first date with him then over at KFC?
- 19:11Speaker 2: Which outlet was this?
- 19:13Speaker 1: It was at Plaza thing, but the best memory hasn't
- 19:17Speaker 1: got anything to do with food. So our first, our,
- 19:20Speaker 1: on our first date, he actually fell down. He actually
- 19:22Speaker 1: slipped and fell in the rain holding like a drink,
- 19:25Speaker 1: I think from KFC.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Yeah, so that
- 19:29Speaker 1: was quite funny.
- 19:30Speaker 2: So what was the order for you? Like a two-piece
- 19:32Speaker 2: chicken meal or a zinger burger?
- 19:34Speaker 1: Oh wow.
- 19:36Speaker 1: I wanted to eat the bones and glamorous as possible.
- 19:41Speaker 2: OK. If you can't take me unglamorous, you don't deserve me.
- 19:44Speaker 2: I glamorous? That's right I'm guessing.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Yes, there you
- 19:47Speaker 2: go. Thank you so much for your call, and I
- 19:49Speaker 2: feel like KFC should sponsor your 10th anniversary or something.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Take care. Bye-bye. Right. On the topic of your preferred
- 19:57Speaker 2: first date cuisine.
- 19:59Speaker 2: And let's just say if it's Japanese, congrats. We all
- 20:02Speaker 2: joined the common answer here in Singapore. Want to say
- 20:05Speaker 2: hello to a few people on WhatsApp. Chien Pang, hello.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Also want to say hello to Satish. I read your
- 20:12Speaker 2: text earlier as well. Kumaran, hello. All saying, yeah, Japanese
- 20:16Speaker 2: cuisine is the safest to go for because you won't order,
- 20:19Speaker 2: you won't over-order, and it could be the neatest cuisine
- 20:21Speaker 2: to have.
- 20:22Speaker 2: Unless, of course, you tell me you accidentally dropped your
- 20:25Speaker 2: piece in the soy sauce and it splashes on your shirt,
- 20:27Speaker 2: so all the best to you if it happens like that.
- 20:30Speaker 2: But I do want to say hello to Kin. Kin says,
- 20:34Speaker 2: I once went to the outdoor movie screening at Fort Canning,
- 20:37Speaker 2: and my date got one Summersby each for each of us.
- 20:42Speaker 2: My date does not drink much, and then he one
- 20:45Speaker 2: shots the whole bottle after the movie. We went to
- 20:48Speaker 2: Marsha at Somerset. The funny part is my dad was
- 20:50Speaker 2: drunk so much that he could not eat his food
- 20:52Speaker 2: and he fell asleep until the shop closed. We ended
- 20:55Speaker 2: up going.
- 20:56Speaker 2: back by Grab and we found out later on that
- 20:58Speaker 2: he couldn't take any alcohol. Oh no, Ken, I really
- 21:01Speaker 2: hope this guy is still with you or something like that.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Let us know the updates, OK? We're going to the
- 21:06Speaker 2: phone lines at 669-119-87. Jay, what's your
- 21:10Speaker 1: story? It's definitely Thai food, so beforehand, I'll always ask
- 21:14Speaker 1: them like, uh, how's your spice tolerance? Then they'll say, oh, alright.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Then I'm like, OK, let's go, let's go for Thai
- 21:20Speaker 1: food as my usual days, um.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Thai restaurant at um city gate. So, um, when we
- 21:27Speaker 1: order the food, I would like go for normal spice
- 21:30Speaker 1: because they they say that their spice level is OK,
- 21:33Speaker 1: but that's where like, because I can take spice very well,
- 21:36Speaker 1: and then when you see them start drinking a lot
- 21:40Speaker 1: of water and then if not they'll be perspiring, wiping
- 21:44Speaker 1: themselves up, so I thought it's.
- 21:46Speaker 1: It's quite fun.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Why do I feel this is like an audition date?
- 21:50Speaker 2: So for example, if you and I go on a
- 21:53Speaker 2: date and you ask me how's my spice tolerance and
- 21:56Speaker 2: I say, oh, I'm very bad at spice, does it
- 21:58Speaker 2: mean the date is off or we go somewhere else?
- 22:01Speaker 1: I will still meet up. Then I will ask them like,
- 22:04Speaker 1: do you want to like still go for Thai food with, uh, um,
- 22:07Speaker 1: less spice, or we can just go for other cuisine that, um,
- 22:11Speaker 1: if you have any preference kind of thing, yeah.
- 22:13Speaker 2: I'm going to be a little bit careful here, Jay.
- 22:15Speaker 2: I ask you, OK. Have any of your dates texted
- 22:19Speaker 2: you the next morning saying, wow, my stomach cannot take it? Yes.
- 22:25Speaker 2: As expected, as expected. By the way, out of curiosity, which, uh,
- 22:29Speaker 2: Thai restaurant is this over at City Gate? Tell me,
- 22:32Speaker 2: so I can go and check it out one day
- 22:33Speaker 2: as well.
- 22:34Speaker 1: It's Beer Thai House. So they have two branches, one at, uh,
- 22:37Speaker 1: Kitchener Road and the other one at City Gate itself.
- 22:40Speaker 1: It was from Golden Mile
- 22:41Speaker 1: Complex.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Alright, OK. Beer Thai House restaurant over at the Kampung
- 22:45Speaker 2: Glam City Gate area. Thank you so much for your call, Jay.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Take care, OK? Thank you. Bye-bye. Bye. We are broadcasting
- 22:52Speaker 2: live on 987's TikTok as well. And yes, my guest
- 22:56Speaker 2: at this point in time, I would not be surprised
- 22:58Speaker 2: if they call him the legend of Lorong Lilian.
- 23:02Speaker 2: And baller doesn't just apply to footballers, it also applies
- 23:07Speaker 2: to basketballers. Don't forget that. Please say hello to Branson
- 23:11Speaker 2: Tan live in the studio. Hello, Branson.
- 23:14Speaker 2: He is here. If I had an air horn, I'll
- 23:16Speaker 2: give it for you like.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Branson, congratulations, by the way, newfound virality, all thanks to
- 23:24Speaker 2: that game against MK. But both of us know and
- 23:27Speaker 2: we understand his content enough to know that he will
- 23:29Speaker 2: never post a lost video against you. You did it
- 23:32Speaker 2: on your account, to which we'll touch it. We'll touch
- 23:34Speaker 2: on it later on, but I want to find out
- 23:37Speaker 2: more about Branson Tan first, the basketballer here in Singapore,
- 23:40Speaker 2: and apparently when I Google your name, you're in Team
- 23:43Speaker 2: Singapore's lineup, but you still have hair here.
- 23:46Speaker 2: And when I Google your name as well, I see
- 23:49Speaker 2: the name Botak. So I thought, hey, would it be
- 23:51Speaker 2: rude to call you Botak, but apparently you embrace it.
- 23:53Speaker 2: It's in your nickname. So why go from this to Botak?
- 23:57Speaker 1: Why?
- 23:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I think many people ask me, but I think
- 23:59Speaker 1: hair is just a disturbance to my game. Oh really? Yeah,
- 24:02Speaker 1: I feel like it's so troublesome to take care of
- 24:04Speaker 1: your hair, to shampoo your hair, so why not just
- 24:06Speaker 1: shave
- 24:07Speaker 1: it.
- 24:09Speaker 2: OK lah. I mean we can just ask Michael Jordan
- 24:11Speaker 2: how he feels about it as well, right? But Branson, OK,
- 24:13Speaker 2: let's go back to the history of Branson Tan before
- 24:17Speaker 2: even Team Singapore, before anything else. Where did this love
- 24:21Speaker 2: for basketball start for you?
- 24:22Speaker 1: Oh, actually, when I was about 12 years old, I
- 24:25Speaker 1: was helping with my father in my chicken rice store
- 24:28Speaker 1: in Toa Payoh, so I was dishwashing his plates for him, lah.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Then one of his worker, he asked me to play basketball.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Then he brought me out to play. Well, that's how
- 24:37Speaker 1: I fell in love with basketball, but I think the
- 24:38Speaker 1: most beautiful thing about basketball is that it brings everyone
- 24:41Speaker 1: together regardless of their race, language, or religion, their socioeconomic status.
- 24:45Speaker 1: When you're off the, when you're on the court, none
- 24:47Speaker 1: of that really matters. Yeah, yeah, I think that's the
- 24:50Speaker 1: beauty of it. And most sport that can keep fit also, lah.
- 24:52Speaker 2: How, how young were you then?
- 24:54Speaker 1: 12 years old.
- 24:55Speaker 2: So did that become your CCA in secondary school, which
- 24:58Speaker 2: I hear it was pure
- 24:59Speaker 1: secondary.
- 25:00Speaker 2: So what was the audition or the trials like for
- 25:03Speaker 2: Per Secondary's basketball team, or do you just join and say, Hey,
- 25:06Speaker 2: you're very tall. Come.
- 25:07Speaker 1: No, I have to go for a trial. So every
- 25:09Speaker 1: class will go for a trial, then the CCA teacher
- 25:11Speaker 1: and the coach will pick you. So I did one
- 25:13Speaker 1: left-hand layup. They were like, Wow, this guy is so good.
- 25:16Speaker 1: No secondary school can do a left-hand layup.
- 25:19Speaker 1: So I just did that. Then they just picked me up.
- 25:21Speaker 1: They put a star.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Were you already very tall back in secondary school? I
- 25:24Speaker 2: was about 7. What? Already in secondary school you were 17.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Is that tall? I think to me it is. It's
- 25:31Speaker 2: a growth spurt. Hello. And then, and then, so you,
- 25:34Speaker 2: I'm guessing you're one of the tallest
- 25:36Speaker 1: in
- 25:36Speaker 2: school.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I was one of the tallest.
- 25:38Speaker 2: And how much time and effort do you give basketball
- 25:41Speaker 2: and do you give?
- 25:42Speaker 2: Your studies the same amount of effort and time as well,
- 25:45Speaker 1: it's a good question. In secondary school, ball is life,
- 25:49Speaker 1: but after secondary school, I tend to shift my focus
- 25:52Speaker 1: to studies, la. OK, yeah, but secondary school I bowling
- 25:55Speaker 1: every morning, every night, every afternoon, yeah.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Where, where were your usual courts or hangouts? Toa Payoh,
- 26:01Speaker 1: Toa Payoh or Bishan?
- 26:02Speaker 2: Yeah, OK,
- 26:03Speaker 1: Bishan, yeah, the shelter court, ah.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Ah, OK. The one at the, the near the CC, yeah, OK,
- 26:08Speaker 2: I know which one. Yes, OK. And so explain your
- 26:12Speaker 2: journey as a secondary school team basketballer, and then what happened?
- 26:16Speaker 2: Do you go poly
- 26:17Speaker 1: poly? OK, yeah, so I started playing secondary school. I
- 26:21Speaker 1: love creating history though. I created many histories of peers. Well, yeah.
- 26:25Speaker 1: So
- 26:25Speaker 2: is
- 26:25Speaker 2: your name on the board?
- 26:26Speaker 1: Uh, everyone knows me there.
- 26:31Speaker 1: I have a picture of myself there also, really, yeah, yeah.
- 26:34Speaker 1: So I participated in the ASEAN school game. It's where
- 26:36Speaker 1: they select the best player in each secondary school. They
- 26:39Speaker 1: represent Singapore to play against other school in country, other country.
- 26:42Speaker 1: So I got selected for best sports boy award. I
- 26:44Speaker 1: don't know how I got it. Also, so I move
- 26:46Speaker 1: on to poly, but poly, it was quite sad because
- 26:49Speaker 1: COVID hit. Yeah, yeah, so many opportunities didn't come. Which,
- 26:52Speaker 1: which poly polyly,
- 26:54Speaker 2: OK,
- 26:54Speaker 1: yeah. Then after Neam Poly, I went to NS. I
- 26:58Speaker 1: represented SCDF though to play basketball.
- 27:00Speaker 1: OK, yeah. Then after, now here I am in SIT University.
- 27:05Speaker 2: How did you join Team Singapore? How did that happen
- 27:07Speaker 2: for
- 27:07Speaker 2: you?
- 27:07Speaker 1: How? I think it's just basically showcasing your skills. Then
- 27:11Speaker 1: you get scouted. Then just word of mouth, and you
- 27:13Speaker 1: call you out to the team. So
- 27:15Speaker 2: for your, for your version of basketball, is it 5v5
- 27:18Speaker 2: or is it 33 or what what's the, what's the
- 27:21Speaker 2: sport like football, you got 11 against 11, 7 against 755.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Yeah, at first I, when I represented Singapore for Games,
- 27:28Speaker 1: it was on a 3 on 3.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's a really different ball game. Back then
- 27:32Speaker 1: I was training like almost 9 times in a row,
- 27:35Speaker 1: 9 days in a row. Yeah, it was quite tiring,
- 27:37Speaker 1: but it's worth it though. Yeah, but now I'm transitioning
- 27:39Speaker 1: it to 5 on 5. Yeah, yeah.
- 27:42Speaker 2: What would you say about the basketball scene here in Singapore?
- 27:44Speaker 2: Is it growing? I feel it's very underrated. I know
- 27:48Speaker 2: a few creators like Thomas Copekivich, for example, who I worked.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Very closely with Norbin as well. They do feature basketball stuff.
- 27:55Speaker 2: So do you think the scene is slowly rising or
- 27:58Speaker 2: the scene has always been there, just needs more spotlight
- 28:01Speaker 2: on it?
- 28:02Speaker 1: I think back then basketball has never really won a
- 28:04Speaker 1: competition or match. Then during a 3 on 3 game,
- 28:08Speaker 1: my team won against a historic win against Chinese Taipei.
- 28:11Speaker 1: That's where all the crowd, all the fame.
- 28:13Speaker 1: The traffic comes in. So after that, I think 3
- 28:16Speaker 1: on 3 is now on the rise. Yeah, but 5
- 28:19Speaker 1: on 5 is still there. I'll go with 202029C Games,
- 28:21Speaker 1: which will take place in Singapore. Yeah, yeah,
- 28:24Speaker 2: which is
- 28:24Speaker 2: your preferred 1, 313 or 55?
- 28:26Speaker 1: I prefer both though. Both are like two different things,
- 28:29Speaker 1: different mindset, yeah.
- 28:30Speaker 2: And what is your preferred position on the court?
- 28:33Speaker 1: Uh, 5 on 5.
- 28:35Speaker 1: I love small forward shooting guard. Shooting guard. I hate
- 28:38Speaker 1: being a point guard. I can't bring the ball up.
- 28:40Speaker 2: OK, um, a shooting guard in a slam dunk context.
- 28:43Speaker 2: The anime, who plays shooting guard? Is it Riota or
- 28:46Speaker 2: is it, uh, Mitsi or
- 28:48Speaker 1: I'm not really sure
- 28:48Speaker 2: or Rukawa? OK, never mind. I'm
- 28:50Speaker 1: so
- 28:50Speaker 2: sorry. It's OK.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Again, my, my best knowledge of basketball, I'm, I'm using
- 28:54Speaker 2: is Slam Dunk the enemy, which I really follow, and
- 28:56Speaker 2: I joked to him saying how 1 3-point shot from
- 28:59Speaker 2: Mitzi is a 4-episode series on slam dunk. And if
- 29:01Speaker 2: you just joined us, we are broadcasting live on TikTok
- 29:05Speaker 2: as well. It is Branson Tan in the studio.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Baller.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Representing Team Singapore and very soon in the 2029 SEA
- 29:15Speaker 2: Games in a staged in Singapore, right? So Branson, let,
- 29:18Speaker 2: let's get to why you are here this morning. Everyone
- 29:22Speaker 2: saw that clip that you took on MK when he
- 29:25Speaker 2: was here in Singapore. Our friends over at Mothership posted it.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Loads of people who were there filmed it and put
- 29:31Speaker 2: it up on TikTok, and the cheers that you got
- 29:34Speaker 2: when you sinked in the last point gave me goosebumps.
- 29:38Speaker 2: I went, whoa.
- 29:40Speaker 2: OK, and to be honest with you, uh, Sonny and
- 29:42Speaker 2: I tried getting MK in the studio, but I think
- 29:45Speaker 2: his manager told us that they're on a very tight schedule.
- 29:47Speaker 2: So I think too last minute. So maybe the next
- 29:49Speaker 2: time he's back we can get him in the studio
- 29:51Speaker 2: as well, but at least we got you, so I'm very,
- 29:53Speaker 2: very happy about that.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Before we even get to the game, did you even
- 29:56Speaker 2: know who MK was that you follow his content?
- 29:59Speaker 1: Not
- 29:59Speaker 1: really. I don't really follow his content, but sometimes it
- 30:01Speaker 1: appears on my FIP. So I was like, Oh, this
- 30:03Speaker 1: guy is trash talking like crazy. I was thinking that
- 30:07Speaker 1: I would love to play against him one day. Yeah, yeah.
- 30:09Speaker 2: And when you found out he was here in Singapore,
- 30:11Speaker 2: did you even know? Or did your friends say, Hey, Brenton,
- 30:13Speaker 2: this guy is in Singapore.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Go, go. Oh, I didn't even know until when he
- 30:16Speaker 1: arrived in Singapore.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Like, Oh, he's in Singapore. So at first he was
- 30:19Speaker 1: in a Chinatown stop. Yeah, I was like, Nah, I'm
- 30:21Speaker 1: not gonna go. But second stop, he posted in Lorong Yang.
- 30:25Speaker 1: I was like, wait, that's like one bus stop away
- 30:26Speaker 1: from my house. So it's so convenient. So I just
- 30:29Speaker 1: might not just go there and experience. How is it like?
- 30:31Speaker 1: I didn't expect myself to play though.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Yeah, so, so walk us through how did that happen
- 30:35Speaker 2: and how did MK end up picking you?
- 30:37Speaker 1: Oh, actually I was when I arrived at the court.
- 30:40Speaker 1: My hopes of playing against him is zero because there
- 30:43Speaker 1: was a lot of crowd.
- 30:44Speaker 1: It's crazy. So I just moved to the spectator seat.
- 30:47Speaker 1: I was like at the top of the seat. Then
- 30:49Speaker 1: when MK comes, all the crowd just crowd around here
- 30:51Speaker 1: on the court. I was thinking, oh my God, how
- 30:53Speaker 1: am I gonna play against him.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Then I say, Should I just try to go down
- 30:57Speaker 1: and join the crowd, but then it would be weird though,
- 30:59Speaker 1: as a 24 year old Botak uncle going down.
- 31:01Speaker 2: You're not uncle. I'm but
- 31:03Speaker 1: it looks weird lah.
- 31:04Speaker 2: No, but did you show up in your gear like
- 31:06Speaker 2: your
- 31:06Speaker 1: yeah I did though. I was
- 31:07Speaker 1: like ready to play against him. Then I was like, OK,
- 31:09Speaker 1: why not? I only live once. This, this type of
- 31:12Speaker 1: opportunity doesn't come and doesn't come right. So I just
- 31:14Speaker 1: went down. Then I joined the crowd. Then I was
- 31:16Speaker 1: strategizing how to go in front of the crowd. So
- 31:19Speaker 1: you know how everyone is just squeezing in.
- 31:21Speaker 1: So I was saying if everyone squeeze in and then
- 31:24Speaker 1: when the security guard asked them to push back I
- 31:26Speaker 1: will move forward, yeah, so that's how I appeared in front.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Then after when NK was picking up the picking up
- 31:32Speaker 1: one on one.
- 31:33Speaker 1: He said, Who here can beat me? I need a
- 31:36Speaker 1: more better person to beat me. I just shouted, I'm
- 31:38Speaker 1: a national player. I'm a national player. I represented Singapore.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Then I caught his unpassionate. Then the whole crowd was like,
- 31:42Speaker 1: Oh my God, that's Branson. Benson, go, go! Then they
- 31:45Speaker 1: pulled me in to play against MK.
- 31:47Speaker 1: So
- 31:47Speaker 2: the crowd recognized who
- 31:48Speaker 1: you are.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Well done to the crowd. Yeah, exactly. W crowd. So.
- 31:52Speaker 2: Talk us through the trash talking and the first game.
- 31:55Speaker 2: That's the one you beat him and people cheer for him.
- 31:57Speaker 2: So talk us through the trash talking and how did
- 31:59Speaker 2: you mentally block it out because this guy, I've seen
- 32:02Speaker 2: his videos, he can be throwing the ball at you.
- 32:04Speaker 2: He could try to slap you, pull your shirt. I
- 32:06Speaker 2: mean you have no hair, so you might try to beat.
- 32:08Speaker 2: that you never know, right?
- 32:09Speaker 1: Yeah, actually, when before I play against, I have a
- 32:12Speaker 1: friend Joshua. He's just like him. I always play one
- 32:15Speaker 1: on one with him, trash talking, throw the ball at me,
- 32:17Speaker 1: hit my head, everything, so I kind of get used
- 32:19Speaker 1: to it. You were well trained. Yeah, I was well
- 32:21Speaker 1: trained by Joshua, honestly. So when I come in to
- 32:23Speaker 1: play with him, I was locked in though. I didn't
- 32:25Speaker 1: even hear the trash talk, but I only hear something like,
- 32:27Speaker 1: how are you even a national player? If I'm a national,
- 32:29Speaker 1: if I'm in Singapore, I can be the best player
- 32:31Speaker 1: in Singapore. They just get in my head. I was like, Oh, OK.
- 32:36Speaker 1: I was just trying to win him.
- 32:38Speaker 1: I was locked in.
- 32:39Speaker 2: What was the game plan you had against MK and
- 32:41Speaker 2: how did you, how did you finally beat him? Tell us,
- 32:43Speaker 1: the
- 32:44Speaker 1: game plan was defense. Defense is my number one philosophy
- 32:47Speaker 1: in basketball. So I had to defend so hard. He
- 32:49Speaker 1: was tired. I was tired, but I have to make
- 32:50Speaker 1: him more tired. Yeah. So I just keep defending him,
- 32:53Speaker 1: but the crowd was.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Crazy though, the crowd was saying like, let's go Botta
- 32:56Speaker 1: Bota Botak. Then there's one point they were saying like,
- 32:58Speaker 1: Who's your barber? Who's your
- 33:00Speaker 1: barber?
- 33:02Speaker 2: And when you sunk in the last point to win it,
- 33:05Speaker 1: walk us through that feeling.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Yeah,
- 33:06Speaker 1: that
- 33:06Speaker 1: was, oh my God. I was like, finally. Then the
- 33:09Speaker 1: whole crowd just comes in. Then I just point to MK,
- 33:12Speaker 1: you loser.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Of course we will not see that video on MK's channel.
- 33:17Speaker 2: We only see it on Branson's channel or whichever person
- 33:20Speaker 2: was there or at Lorong Lilian, but you took him
- 33:23Speaker 2: on again because he offered a rematch. He wants a rematch,
- 33:26Speaker 1: yeah, because
- 33:26Speaker 2: he wants to defend his pride. Both of you all
- 33:28Speaker 2: were so tired, but that one unfortunately you lost,
- 33:31Speaker 1: yeah, I think because, um, not, not any excuses, lah.
- 33:34Speaker 1: I was leading 4-3. Then he need, he needed one
- 33:37Speaker 1: more 3-point shot to win. Then the police came. The
- 33:39Speaker 1: town council came. They told him to cancel this.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Match, I think, I don't know why. Oh no, yeah,
- 33:43Speaker 1: so the police came. Then, um, MK told me, uh,
- 33:46Speaker 1: let's end it faster. I said, OK, you end it,
- 33:48Speaker 1: you shoot it. So he saw it. He was actually scored.
- 33:51Speaker 1: I was like, OK,
- 33:51Speaker 2: you gave it to him.
- 33:53Speaker 1: OK, that this is the
- 33:54Speaker 2: true
- 33:55Speaker 1: story,
- 33:55Speaker 2: guys. You can clip this and post it up on
- 33:57Speaker 2: social media if MK trash talks Branson on his social
- 34:01Speaker 2: media accounts. But anyway, uh, what do you want to
- 34:03Speaker 2: say to the people who were there cheering for you
- 34:06Speaker 2: and even to MK himself because I'm very sure.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Again, I say this, I feel that his persona on
- 34:12Speaker 2: social media, it's a character.
- 34:15Speaker 1: He
- 34:15Speaker 2: looks like actually a very nice guy.
- 34:16Speaker 1: He
- 34:16Speaker 1: is actually, I think to MK, right, he's actually a
- 34:19Speaker 1: very nice person. When I come to the court, right,
- 34:21Speaker 1: he was just so nice to me. He was asking me,
- 34:24Speaker 1: Do you need a warm up? Did he offered me
- 34:25Speaker 1: water to drink. He's generally such a
- 34:27Speaker 1: nice person.
- 34:28Speaker 2: Before the cameras are rolling.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Uh, I think, the cameras rolling, but he just didn't
- 34:32Speaker 1: post that. I
- 34:33Speaker 1: see, I see.
- 34:35Speaker 2: What about to the fans who were there supporting not
- 34:37Speaker 2: just MK but
- 34:38Speaker 2: You as well,
- 34:39Speaker 1: I think to the
- 34:39Speaker 1: fans, thank you so much for supporting me. I love
- 34:42Speaker 1: the chess talk. I love the vibe. I love the hype.
- 34:43Speaker 1: I love the vibe. Love you guys,
- 34:45Speaker 1: man.
- 34:46Speaker 2: Yeah, and let's just say if you want to check
- 34:47Speaker 2: you out playing basketball, do you play for any clubs
- 34:50Speaker 2: here in Singapore?
- 34:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I used to. I play. I'm still playing for
- 34:52Speaker 1: Singhua in Division One. And
- 34:54Speaker 2: where's the home court to watch you do your action
- 34:56Speaker 2: or whatsoever?
- 34:58Speaker 1: There isn't. There isn't. There isn't a home court. I see.
- 35:00Speaker 2: How can we follow you and keep up to date
- 35:02Speaker 2: with your basketball happenings?
- 35:03Speaker 1: Follow my IG. Follow my TikTok. I just changed my
- 35:06Speaker 1: username to Botak Branson.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Embracing the new name.
- 35:11Speaker 2: You know what? It's a brand. Copyright it and put
- 35:13Speaker 2: it on a t-shirt. There you go. Botak Branson, thank
- 35:16Speaker 2: you so much for your time. This was fun having
- 35:17Speaker 2: you on
- 35:17Speaker 1: 987. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah, I,
- 35:20Speaker 2: I wish we could take on each other one on one,
- 35:21Speaker 2: but you will thrash me 180, you better not. It's OK.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Keep it here on 987. In the meantime, it's Branson
- 35:27Speaker 2: Tan once again here live on 987's TikTok as well.
- 35:30Speaker 2: And OK, today being October 16th, you might be feeling
- 35:35Speaker 2: the big bang fever already. OK, I think.
- 35:38Speaker 2: fever was a poor choice of word to use because
- 35:40Speaker 2: the haze could be giving you some fever as well.
- 35:42Speaker 2: But yeah, it's concert time. Hopefully, no postponements or no cancellations,
- 35:48Speaker 2: so please stay very close to our friends over at
- 35:51Speaker 2: the Kallang SG as well as AEG Presents. They'll be
- 35:55Speaker 2: the ones giving you all the updates you need because
- 35:58Speaker 2: they have issued a haze advisory, I think as of yesterday.
- 36:02Speaker 2: But of course, tonight over at the Marina Bay Sands
- 36:05Speaker 2: area at 7 p.m.
- 36:07Speaker 2: It will turn yellow. Art Science Museum and Marina Bay
- 36:11Speaker 2: Sands in the iconic Big Bang, yellow, and at 8:00 p.m.,
- 36:14Speaker 2: 9:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m., it's almost as if like
- 36:17Speaker 2: what they did for Lady Gaga last year when she
- 36:19Speaker 2: was here, they customized a spectral water show to the
- 36:23Speaker 2: songs of Lady Gaga. So I'm very sure they're doing
- 36:26Speaker 2: the same for Big Bang, 8:00 p.m., 9 p.m., and
- 36:29Speaker 2: 10:00 p.m. I hope you get to enjoy it and
- 36:31Speaker 2: I hope the PSI kind of clears up. So yes,
- 36:34Speaker 2: just praying for some miracles.
