- 0:22Speaker 5: Billy the Kid in the morning.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Hey, good morning. Welcome to your Tuesday. First day of fall.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:29Speaker 2: And it does not feel like it. No, it doesn't.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I'm going to warn you right now, that ain't going
- 0:33Speaker 2: to happen today. Our fall is not here. No. It's
- 0:36Speaker 2: Mix 102.9. Ability Kid, Candace Lopez is here. Producer Poo
- 0:40Speaker 2: is here. What's up, Candace?
- 0:41Speaker 6: I saw something online this morning that made me feel
- 0:43Speaker 6: so good because I wanted to share it because I
- 0:45Speaker 6: know how it feels sometimes.
- 0:46Speaker 7: Do you ever leave the house.
- 0:47Speaker 6: And you just regret your outfit or you're like... Why
- 0:49Speaker 6: did I put those shoes on or why do I
- 0:51Speaker 6: have this on?
- 0:52Speaker 2: Yeah, all the time.
- 0:54Speaker 6: Yeah, maybe it's just because we get up so early
- 0:55Speaker 6: and sometimes I just don't even look in the mirror.
- 0:57Speaker 7: I think I just think like, yeah, okay, cool. I
- 1:00Speaker 7: have clothes.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 1:01Speaker 8: Shoes.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm dressed.
- 1:02Speaker 6: Yeah, apparently there's like a new trend that showed up
- 1:04Speaker 6: at New York Fashion Week and I don't even follow fashion.
- 1:06Speaker 6: I'm not a fashionista, but it's called analog dressing is
- 1:10Speaker 6: what they're calling it.
- 1:11Speaker 2: What have I been doing for years?
- 1:12Speaker 8: Well, no, you.
- 1:14Speaker 7: Put your fits together sometimes.
- 1:16Speaker 2: No, I mean, as far as analog to me, it's
- 1:18Speaker 2: just only like black and white.
- 1:19Speaker 6: OK, well, it's basically a new trend where your clothes
- 1:22Speaker 6: are imperfect.
- 1:23Speaker 7: And so you're not curating your entire outfit.
- 1:25Speaker 6: So it's just like, you know, even wrinkled fabrics are
- 1:28Speaker 6: something that's.
- 1:29Speaker 7: Showing up on the runway. And I thought this is great.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I've been wrinkled for years. Unless I iron it.
- 1:37Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, I love it.
- 1:39Speaker 5: I know.
- 1:39Speaker 6: It makes me feel so much better about my life
- 1:42Speaker 6: now that, you know, just throwing together casually, you know,
- 1:44Speaker 6: an outfit is trending.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Well, first of all, we work on the radio. Nobody
- 1:48Speaker 2: sees us. Well, I say that, but then we do
- 1:49Speaker 2: a lot of social media and stuff like that. Right.
- 1:51Speaker 7: We film videos, like, you know, random things.
- 1:53Speaker 2: It's usually us. We're kind of like news anchors, just
- 1:56Speaker 2: dressed from the waist up. So, like, you don't know
- 1:59Speaker 2: what I'm wearing below my waist. I might not even
- 2:02Speaker 2: have pants on.
- 2:03Speaker 7: I couldn't tell you right now. I can't confirm or
- 2:05Speaker 7: deny that.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Neither of you have seen my legs. No.
- 2:08Speaker 6: I got a blanket all the time, so nobody knows.
- 2:11Speaker 7: If I'm wearing shorts or pants.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Just wear a nice top and we're fine.
- 2:14Speaker 6: Yeah, so if your clothes are wrinkled today or your
- 2:16Speaker 6: fit is kind of whack, don't.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Worry about it. Yeah, just say you're part of fashion week.
- 2:19Speaker 7: You're analog.
- 2:20Speaker 2: You're analog.
- 2:21Speaker 7: Analog dressing.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Who's analog right now?
- 2:24Speaker 8: Always.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Actually, the only reason I know what kind of pants
- 2:26Speaker 2: who is wearing today... It's because they're my pants. Oh. Yeah.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Got them out of his closet. They were pants I
- 2:33Speaker 2: gave him because they didn't fit me.
- 2:34Speaker 8: Oh.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:36Speaker 7: They're camo.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Billy log. Yeah. He's wearing my clothes. What up, Pooh?
- 2:40Speaker 2: That's the only way to go.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Y'all, I had so much fun yesterday at Tom Thumb.
- 2:45Speaker 2: What? Who says that? No, this old lady. Her name's Gail.
- 2:49Speaker 2: She's a cashier.
- 2:51Speaker 1: She was clowning everybody that was in her line. First
- 2:53Speaker 1: of all, this guy that was in front of me,
- 2:55Speaker 1: he had like a whole bunch of vegetables. that he
- 2:57Speaker 1: had some stuff for, like, frisky time on his thing.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Oh, wait a minute.
- 3:03Speaker 5: Hold on.
- 3:03Speaker 2: And some beer. She clowned him. She goes, what kind
- 3:06Speaker 2: of party are you at? Hold on. I got to
- 3:10Speaker 2: know what's going on. I don't know what Tom Thumb
- 3:12Speaker 2: you go to. My Tom Thumb is not that exciting. A. B.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I don't even see a cashier half the time. For real.
- 3:19Speaker 2: And be careful when you answer this, but what could
- 3:21Speaker 2: you possibly be getting at Tom Thumb for, quote, unquote,
- 3:24Speaker 2: frisky time? You know, stuffed a scrapbook. I'll just leave
- 3:27Speaker 2: it at that. You know?
- 3:28Speaker 7: Okay.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Who's doing that? This guy apparently was. He had a
- 3:32Speaker 2: big box. I'll just tell you that. A big box?
- 3:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Were you with him? No, he was in front of me.
- 3:39Speaker 2: All I had was an RC. All I had was
- 3:41Speaker 2: an RC. A rotisserie chicken.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Yeah, a rotisserie chicken, some basmati rice. She was like,
- 3:48Speaker 1: what kind of party are you having? He was like,
- 3:50Speaker 1: he was so embarrassed.
- 3:51Speaker 2: He was like, uh.
- 3:52Speaker 5: Nothing.
- 3:53Speaker 2: That's awful of her. That's what self-checkout's made for. What
- 3:56Speaker 2: kind of guy is buying all that stuff at Tom Thumb?
- 4:00Speaker 2: And then going to the old lady cashier. If I'm
- 4:05Speaker 2: doing that, I'm going to self-checkout, and I'm just going
- 4:07Speaker 2: to go, yeah, you don't see me. I'm not here.
- 4:09Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 4:09Speaker 2: And then she rung him up, and she looked at me,
- 4:11Speaker 2: and she was like, she goes, well, I guess you're
- 4:14Speaker 2: not having as much fun as him. All you got
- 4:16Speaker 2: is a chicken.
- 4:17Speaker 4: And some rice.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Wow, Shane. You know what's funny? You know how when
- 4:20Speaker 2: people sometimes tell stories, and they're like, yeah, you wouldn't
- 4:22Speaker 2: believe it, one of my friends, but it's really them?
- 4:24Speaker 8: Right.
- 4:25Speaker 2: No. No, it wasn't me. No, I promise.
- 4:28Speaker 7: I think I know her.
- 4:30Speaker 8: The new Mix 102.9.
- 4:32Speaker 2: It's Texas Top Stories on the 10s with Billy the
- 4:35Speaker 2: Kid in the Morning.
- 4:36Speaker 8: Only on the new Mix 102.9.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Your chance of this State Fair of Texas season pass,
- 4:41Speaker 2: if you want it, coming up next. Are you ready
- 4:43Speaker 2: for that? We're doing it on the 10s all day.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Listen on the iHeartRadio app. Okay? Get us on the app.
- 4:49Speaker 2: That way you can do the talkback. Win the pass
- 4:51Speaker 2: and put us on your presets while you're at it, too,
- 4:53Speaker 2: because that would help us out a lot.
- 4:54Speaker 3: Totally.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Candace Lopez, what is going on?
- 4:56Speaker 6: Well, the FAA rolled out an AI tool yesterday aimed
- 4:59Speaker 6: at reducing flight delays. So it's called Smart or Strategic
- 5:03Speaker 6: Management of Airspace Routes and Trajectories. This is an $ 875
- 5:08Speaker 6: million AI system designed to analyze the skies for potential
- 5:12Speaker 6: flight obstacles.
- 5:13Speaker 7: So things like weather, runway capacity.
- 5:15Speaker 6: It can also suggest alternate routes. to air traffic controllers
- 5:19Speaker 6: who will then have the final say. But this tool
- 5:21Speaker 6: is already being tested at airports in the D.C.
- 5:23Speaker 8: Area.
- 5:24Speaker 7: They hope to expand this nationwide by 2028.
- 5:26Speaker 6: This whole AI maxing thing at airports is interesting for sure.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I don't love it.
- 5:33Speaker 6: Yeah, I know there's a rep already in that area
- 5:36Speaker 6: calling for this to be suspended immediately, saying, you know,
- 5:39Speaker 6: air traffic controllers weren't even, you know, consulted on the
- 5:42Speaker 6: design and weren't trained on it beforehand.
- 5:44Speaker 2: No, we got to pay real people. I'm not saying
- 5:46Speaker 2: AI can't be a tool, but when we start relying
- 5:49Speaker 2: completely on AI.
- 5:50Speaker 8: Right.
- 5:51Speaker 2: We're going to have some serious problems. We already do.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:53Speaker 2: I mean, we already do. But what are we doing?
- 5:55Speaker 2: You're just going to eliminate jobs and have AI do everything? Well, no.
- 5:58Speaker 6: The FAA says the system won't replace workers, but there's
- 6:01Speaker 6: already a big disagreement on how many controllers need to
- 6:04Speaker 6: be hired because of the shortage we're dealing with. So technically, yeah,
- 6:08Speaker 6: workers wouldn't be replaced because we don't have enough workers.
- 6:11Speaker 2: There are certain jobs you should just pay. Yes. Pay
- 6:13Speaker 2: for humans. Pay for them to control the AI.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Right.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Pay for them to supervise it yeah and they should
- 6:20Speaker 2: be paid.
- 6:20Speaker 6: Well and trained and consulted before the system's design.
- 6:24Speaker 2: And and trafficking air traffic is one of them what
- 6:27Speaker 2: the heck is going on i.
- 6:29Speaker 6: Agree uh on a lighter note guys a federal judge
- 6:31Speaker 6: has dismissed a lawsuit accusing hershey of misleading customers by
- 6:35Speaker 6: showing carved faces on reese's halloween pumpkin packaging when the actual.
- 6:40Speaker 7: Candies had no faces.
- 6:42Speaker 6: I think we heard about this story earlier this year.
- 6:45Speaker 6: Maybe it was late last year, but this ruling says
- 6:47Speaker 6: the plaintiffs failed to show they suffered a legally recognizable
- 6:50Speaker 6: financial loss because of the candies. The judge called it
- 6:54Speaker 6: basically saying like, look, you were disappointed. You opened the
- 6:56Speaker 6: Reese's pieces and there weren't faces.
- 6:59Speaker 7: On the pumpkins or whatever.
- 7:00Speaker 6: They say they do plan to appeal. Hershey says the
- 7:04Speaker 6: faces shown on the packaging were only a decoration suggestion.
- 7:08Speaker 7: What a wild lawsuit.
- 7:09Speaker 2: What are we doing?
- 7:10Speaker 8: Right.
- 7:11Speaker 7: Who has the time for that?
- 7:12Speaker 2: Who has the time and money? It's got to be
- 7:14Speaker 2: a lawyer.
- 7:14Speaker 7: Just eat them. They taste good.
- 7:16Speaker 2: Yeah, it's got to be a lawyer who is like, well,
- 7:18Speaker 2: I see an opportunity here. I work for free for myself.
- 7:20Speaker 2: I'm going to sue them.
- 7:22Speaker 7: Yeah, maybe so. Who's paying for this?
- 7:23Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 7:24Speaker 6: Guys, the MTV VMAs this weekend will honor Taylor Swift
- 7:28Speaker 6: with the first ever Artist Director Award. So this is
- 7:32Speaker 6: a new award recognizing artists who have directed their music videos.
- 7:36Speaker 6: She's already won four VMAs for Best Direction. She's nominated
- 7:40Speaker 6: again this year for Opalite, but she does have nine nominations.
- 7:44Speaker 6: including Artist of the Year. I'm looking forward to the VMAs, though.
- 7:47Speaker 6: Snoop is hosting Heads Up this Sunday at 8.30 p.m.
- 7:50Speaker 6: You can watch it on CBS, MTV, and Paramount +.
- 7:54Speaker 7: But that's a cool award.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it is cool, and it's well-deserved, too, because,
- 7:57Speaker 2: I mean, Taylor, she puts so much effort into her videos,
- 8:01Speaker 2: into her tours. And I know for a fact that
- 8:03Speaker 2: she loses money sometimes.
- 8:05Speaker 7: Really?
- 8:06Speaker 2: Well, as far as like, she puts in so much
- 8:08Speaker 2: more money over budget. She uses her own cash pretty much.
- 8:12Speaker 2: The label doesn't even pay for it because she wants
- 8:14Speaker 2: it to look that good. Of course, she'll get the
- 8:17Speaker 2: money back some way, somehow. She's not hurting.
- 8:19Speaker 8: Right.
- 8:19Speaker 2: I don't know if you know that. She's good.
- 8:22Speaker 7: She's good.
- 8:22Speaker 2: She's going to be okay. But I mean, when you
- 8:24Speaker 2: put that much, she cares that much.
- 8:26Speaker 9: Right.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Yeah, it shows. That's good.
- 8:27Speaker 7: For sure. Yeah, I'm Candace Lopez. Those are your Texas
- 8:30Speaker 7: Top Stories.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Got a dirty little secret at 730. You don't want
- 8:33Speaker 2: to miss today. It's Mix 102.9. I'm Bailey the Kid,
- 8:36Speaker 2: Candace Lopez, producer Pooh. And I say that because, well,
- 8:38Speaker 2: dirty little secret today. I'll tell you a little bit.
- 8:41Speaker 2: I just got to get a heads up on these usually,
- 8:43Speaker 2: so I know what's going to happen. This woman basically
- 8:47Speaker 2: reported her sister to the authorities about something. Oh, wow.
- 8:51Speaker 2: And she has no idea.
- 8:52Speaker 9: Oh.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Wait till you hear about what. Some people will think
- 8:56Speaker 2: it's very questionable whether the sister did anything wrong or not.
- 8:59Speaker 10: Okay.
- 9:00Speaker 2: So, 7.30 today. Dirty little secret. All right. Cutting edge.
- 9:03Speaker 2: We got four pack of passes to give away for
- 9:05Speaker 2: first caller of the day. Who's this? Michelle. What's up, Michelle?
- 9:08Speaker 2: How are you?
- 9:08Speaker 8: Good.
- 9:09Speaker 3: How are you?
- 9:09Speaker 2: I'm good. Where are you from?
- 9:10Speaker 4: Stephenville, Texas.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Guess what? You're caller number one. Congratulations.
- 9:14Speaker 8: Congratulations.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 9:17Speaker 5: Yay.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Yeah. Are you like a haunted house girlie? Do you
- 9:20Speaker 2: like these places or what?
- 9:21Speaker 5: I am.
- 9:22Speaker 3: And my birthday's at the end of October, too, so
- 9:24Speaker 3: it's like perfect.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Oh, good. Halloween birthdays are fun because you get to
- 9:28Speaker 2: party like, I don't know, twice as hard.
- 9:30Speaker 3: No, seriously. Good.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Congratulations. Thank you so much. Are you on your way
- 9:34Speaker 2: to work right now?
- 9:35Speaker 10: Actually, I'm in nursing school, so I'm on my way
- 9:37Speaker 10: to school.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Oh, you're stressed out then. Nursing school is not easy.
- 9:42Speaker 5: No, it's not.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Are you almost done, or how far are you in?
- 9:46Speaker 4: I'm in my junior year, so I have one more
- 9:48Speaker 4: year to go.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Well, you got this. You got it. Thank you so
- 9:51Speaker 2: much for listening. Have a great day, and I'm glad
- 9:53Speaker 2: we could hook you up with this, okay?
- 9:55Speaker 8: Yes, I'm so excited.
- 9:56Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 9:56Speaker 2: You're welcome. You stay there. Okay, you ready for real
- 9:59Speaker 2: or fake news?
- 9:59Speaker 9: Yes.
- 10:00Speaker 2: All right, I'll give you three headlines. You've got to
- 10:01Speaker 2: tell me which one is fake. Which one is the
- 10:03Speaker 2: fake story? Who won yesterday? Me.
- 10:06Speaker 4: Who?
- 10:06Speaker 6: That's right.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Who did?
- 10:07Speaker 7: I thought it was you.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. For a minute, I thought it was me, too. No,
- 10:11Speaker 2: it was me. I think I did.
- 10:12Speaker 7: It was who?
- 10:13Speaker 2: It was me. Congratulations, me. No, come on. I know.
- 10:17Speaker 2: You brought flowers. I'm kidding. It was poo.
- 10:20Speaker 5: All right.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Let's do headline number one. Headline number one. A man
- 10:22Speaker 2: was arrested after.
- 10:23Speaker 7: Oh, boy.
- 10:26Speaker 2: A man was arrested after farting in bed with his wife.
- 10:30Speaker 8: What?
- 10:31Speaker 2: What? A man was arrested after farting in bed with
- 10:35Speaker 2: his wife. I do actually hate that word. Fart? Yeah.
- 10:39Speaker 8: See?
- 10:39Speaker 2: See? Really? You say it so confident. It's just kind
- 10:42Speaker 2: of a weird word.
- 10:43Speaker 7: No, it is.
- 10:44Speaker 2: It's immature, and I'm trying to be more mature.
- 10:47Speaker 7: Come on.
- 10:48Speaker 2: A man was arrested after farting in bed with his
- 10:50Speaker 2: wife is headline number one. Headline number two, man arrested
- 10:53Speaker 2: for pepper spraying a moviegoer who was using his cell
- 10:56Speaker 2: phone in the theater. Okay. Man arrested after pepper spraying
- 11:00Speaker 2: a moviegoer who was using his cell phone in the theater.
- 11:04Speaker 2: All right. Headline number three.
- 11:06Speaker 7: Man arrested for what?
- 11:07Speaker 8: No. No.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Thief steals package from porch, quickly returns it after discovering
- 11:14Speaker 2: it was adult diapers. Thief steals package from porch, quickly
- 11:20Speaker 2: returns it after discovering It was adult diapers. Can't do that.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Three headlines right there. Can't do what? Can't return it
- 11:28Speaker 2: or can't, you don't know what you're stealing.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Right.
- 11:32Speaker 7: It's like a grab bag.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's hysterical. When people steal stuff off
- 11:35Speaker 2: the porch and it's like, you're just that big of
- 11:37Speaker 2: a loser.
- 11:38Speaker 9: Right.
- 11:38Speaker 7: Enjoy my potato peeler.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Is that when you got stolen?
- 11:42Speaker 7: No, I'm just saying, like, nothing I order is that exciting.
- 11:45Speaker 7: Why would you want to steal it?
- 11:46Speaker 2: Mine either. Like, if you steal something off my porch,
- 11:48Speaker 2: chances are you're going to be very disappointed.
- 11:50Speaker 7: Enjoy my face wash.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Exactly. Enjoy my sweet potatoes. Yeah. You know? All right.
- 11:56Speaker 2: All right, here we go. Three headlines are going to
- 11:58Speaker 2: tell me which one is fake. Candace, you want to
- 12:00Speaker 2: go first? You want to pass it to LaPoopoo? What
- 12:02Speaker 2: do you want to do?
- 12:02Speaker 7: Oh, man, this is hard today.
- 12:04Speaker 6: Lock me in for that last story, the adult diapers.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Okay, you think that's a fake story. Yeah. Let's lock
- 12:10Speaker 2: it in. Producer Pooh, which one do you think is
- 12:12Speaker 2: the fake story?
- 12:13Speaker 1: Lock me in for that first story, being tootin' in bed,
- 12:16Speaker 1: getting arrested.
- 12:17Speaker 6: I like how he changed it to tootin'. Yeah, because.
- 12:20Speaker 2: You don't like that word, so I was trying to
- 12:22Speaker 2: change it up for you. Yeah, I appreciate it.
- 12:24Speaker 7: What's better?
- 12:24Speaker 2: I don't know if I like tootin' any better.
- 12:27Speaker 7: We're tootin'. It's more fun.
- 12:29Speaker 6: All right.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Well, either way, it's locked in. And the winner today is.
- 12:35Speaker 5: Candace.
- 12:36Speaker 3: Really?
- 12:44Speaker 2: She's rising up like your sourdough. Yes.
- 12:47Speaker 7: Fermenting over here.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Fermenting.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Fermenting. Put that to a list of words that I
- 12:53Speaker 2: hate with farting.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Right? Okay.
- 12:55Speaker 2: All right, there you go. So, yeah, congratulations, Candace. The
- 12:58Speaker 2: fake story was the thief that stole the package off
- 13:00Speaker 2: the porch and returned it because it was adult diapers.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Just made that one up. But a man was arrested
- 13:05Speaker 2: after farting in bed with his wife.
- 13:07Speaker 4: How?
- 13:08Speaker 2: Well, you want to get to that story first? You
- 13:10Speaker 2: want to go to the pepper spraying in the movie theater?
- 13:11Speaker 7: No, I got to know the farting story.
- 13:12Speaker 2: All right, let's get straight to tooting. Yeah. All right, well,
- 13:15Speaker 2: a 32-year-old man in Florida named Anthony Gordon was arrested
- 13:18Speaker 2: this month after an altercation with his girlfriend.
- 13:21Speaker 4: Huh.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Who said it was his wife?
- 13:23Speaker 7: Oh, well, maybe he has both.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Well, I hope not. Either way, he had an altercation
- 13:27Speaker 2: with his girlfriend that started out on a gassy night.
- 13:30Speaker 2: The girlfriend asked Anthony to stop tooting in bed. Now
- 13:34Speaker 2: I'm saying to you. And that set him off. Okay.
- 13:38Speaker 2: He started arguing with her and called her some very
- 13:41Speaker 2: rude and mean names. Then she spit on him. Oh,
- 13:46Speaker 2: my God. What is happening out here?
- 13:48Speaker 7: Okay.
- 13:50Speaker 2: He responded by, oh, you can't do this, by grabbing
- 13:54Speaker 2: her around the neck.
- 13:55Speaker 9: Oh, boy.
- 13:56Speaker 2: He grabbed her by the throat with two hands, pulling
- 13:59Speaker 2: her off the bed onto the floor. The girlfriend managed
- 14:01Speaker 2: to bite his finger to get him off of her.
- 14:06Speaker 3: Okay.
- 14:07Speaker 2: Which, you got to do what you got to do. Thankfully,
- 14:08Speaker 2: she didn't pull it. He grabbed her. Okay. He grabbed her.
- 14:13Speaker 2: They started tussling. She called the police, later said that
- 14:17Speaker 2: he was obviously abusive, which he was.
- 14:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:20Speaker 2: And that she couldn't breathe and it scared her. And
- 14:23Speaker 2: he wanted to press charges because she spit on him.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Either way, he was charged with domestic battery. Which is
- 14:30Speaker 2: a good thing.
- 14:31Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Because you can't put your hands on people. No. I
- 14:34Speaker 2: can absolutely kick you out of bed if you're tooting
- 14:36Speaker 2: too much.
- 14:37Speaker 8: Right.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Either way, he got a felony, and rightfully so.
- 14:40Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 14:40Speaker 2: You don't do that.
- 14:41Speaker 7: No, it should have escalated that.
- 14:42Speaker 2: She didn't do anything to him. She said, get out
- 14:44Speaker 2: of bed because you're tooting. Right. And he's like, no. Yeah,
- 14:48Speaker 2: come on, man.
- 14:50Speaker 7: I hate it. I can't.
- 14:52Speaker 2: What is going on in Florida? Right. I mean, I
- 14:54Speaker 2: know we make fun of it, but every time we
- 14:56Speaker 2: do any story, it's a crazy story from Florida.
- 14:59Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 14:59Speaker 7: Is it the heat? I don't know.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Should we just saw it off the map? I'm going
- 15:03Speaker 2: to get an eyelid. Jeez. Yeah, it's a peninsula. All
- 15:06Speaker 2: you do is just float away.
- 15:09Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 15:09Speaker 2: I do like it, though, there.
- 15:10Speaker 7: Yeah, no, it's beautiful.
- 15:11Speaker 2: All right. Man arrested for pepper spraying cell phone using
- 15:14Speaker 2: moviegoer at a Burbank theater. Wow. A California man is
- 15:17Speaker 2: accused of pepper spraying another moviegoer because he was using
- 15:20Speaker 2: his cell phone during a film. Police say that 34-year-old
- 15:23Speaker 2: Matthew Ware became upset with the man at the AMC
- 15:25Speaker 2: Burbank on Tuesday, and he sprayed him during the movie.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Two other people also suffered irritation from the spray and
- 15:32Speaker 2: were treated at a nearby hospital. Officers responded to the
- 15:35Speaker 2: theater around 5.30 p.m. and arrested Ware on suspicion of
- 15:38Speaker 2: misdemeanor battery. He was booked into the Burbank jail, although
- 15:42Speaker 2: police did not provide further details about what happened to
- 15:44Speaker 2: him or immediately before the confrontation. So they just know
- 15:48Speaker 2: that there was some kind of argument because Guy was
- 15:50Speaker 2: on his cell phone. And he's like, stop it. That escalated.
- 15:54Speaker 2: He got pepper sprayed. Jeez. I mean... You know.
- 15:58Speaker 7: Yeah, just pepper spray anyone, anytime.
- 16:00Speaker 2: You shouldn't be interrupting Spider-Man. It goes down a bit. Well,
- 16:04Speaker 2: I agree. I agree with that, too. Get off your phone.
- 16:07Speaker 2: But who's carrying pepper spray into a theater? Yeah, that's weird.
- 16:09Speaker 6: Oh, I mean, you're just carrying it everywhere these days.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Oh, you stay strapped like that?
- 16:13Speaker 7: Yeah, you should, right?
- 16:14Speaker 2: You have pepper spray right now? Oh, see, Candace, what
- 16:17Speaker 2: are you talking about?
- 16:18Speaker 7: I'm just saying, people do.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Didn't I buy you pepper spray?
- 16:21Speaker 7: I don't think so. You said you were going to.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 16:24Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 16:24Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 16:25Speaker 7: But if you have pepper spray, you.
- 16:26Speaker 6: Just have it, right?
- 16:28Speaker 7: So if you go to the movie, you still have it.
- 16:29Speaker 7: It's not like they brought it specifically for the movies.
- 16:31Speaker 2: I don't know a lot of men who carry pepper spray. Yeah,
- 16:33Speaker 2: I don't either. That's a good point. I'm not saying
- 16:36Speaker 2: they shouldn't. Yeah. But, I mean, at one point I
- 16:38Speaker 2: had a bedazzled pepper spray.
- 16:41Speaker 4: Really?
- 16:41Speaker 2: You did? Yeah. I don't know how I got it,
- 16:44Speaker 2: but somebody gave it to me and it was bedazzled.
- 16:46Speaker 2: And I thought to myself, I think I'd rather get robbed.
- 16:50Speaker 2: If you pull that out. Then pull out my bedazzled spray.
- 16:55Speaker 2: And I'm like, sir, get away from me. Get off
- 17:01Speaker 2: your phone. I'm going to spray you right in the o-hose.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Get out of here. This was one of my biggest
- 17:09Speaker 2: fears when I was a kid. I'm watching this thing
- 17:12Speaker 2: on the news right now. It's Mix 102.9. Ability Kid,
- 17:15Speaker 2: Candace Lopez, Producer Pooh. State Fair of Texas season pass.
- 17:18Speaker 2: If you want that, check us out on the iHeartRadio app.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Listen to win and make sure you do because we
- 17:22Speaker 2: do it on the 10s all day. You just have
- 17:24Speaker 2: to send a quick talk back. That's it. So, so
- 17:27Speaker 2: many chances to win. Check us out on the iHeartRadio app.
- 17:30Speaker 2: But this is freaking me out. I was scared of
- 17:32Speaker 2: a lot of stuff as a kid, I guess.
- 17:33Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 17:34Speaker 2: But this story, and for whatever reason, when I was
- 17:36Speaker 2: a kid, I was so scared. That there was going
- 17:38Speaker 2: to be a sinkhole in the earth and it was
- 17:40Speaker 2: going to swallow me up. Oh, God.
- 17:42Speaker 7: Yikes.
- 17:43Speaker 2: And then I'm watching the story of it happening to
- 17:45Speaker 2: this girl named Danielle in Long Island. So it wasn't
- 17:49Speaker 2: in some like third world country. Yeah. It was in
- 17:52Speaker 2: New York. I mean, close. But, you know, either way,
- 17:56Speaker 2: she's sitting there in her backyard. Just imagine this.
- 17:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Sitting there in the backyard. You're enjoying a nice, you know.
- 18:03Speaker 2: fall afternoon all of a sudden the earth under you
- 18:06Speaker 2: opens up and swallows you in that's what happened to
- 18:12Speaker 2: her and she's screaming she's crying her dog doesn't get
- 18:17Speaker 2: sucked in her dog's in the edge of the sinkhole
- 18:19Speaker 2: like barking the only reason the neighbors heard her Was
- 18:23Speaker 2: because of that. And it was her birthday. No. This
- 18:27Speaker 2: was on her birthday. She's getting ready to leave and
- 18:28Speaker 2: go celebrate her birthday. She gets swallowed up by a sinkhole.
- 18:32Speaker 2: She's 10 feet deep.
- 18:34Speaker 4: What?
- 18:35Speaker 2: And nobody can see her. Nobody can hear her. Finally,
- 18:38Speaker 2: after the dog barking and her screaming for like 45 minutes,
- 18:42Speaker 2: a neighbor came out and was like, what is going on?
- 18:45Speaker 2: And saw a big hole in her backyard, and they
- 18:47Speaker 2: got her out.
- 18:48Speaker 9: Wow.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Oh, man. That was... Wow. Yeah. Happy birthday, Danielle. Sheesh.
- 18:53Speaker 7: I'll never forget that one.
- 18:55Speaker 2: But that is one of my biggest fears. There was
- 18:57Speaker 2: one in Dallas not too long ago. A sinkhole.
- 18:59Speaker 7: Didn't a truck fall in it or something?
- 19:01Speaker 2: I think so, yeah. A dump truck or something.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:03Speaker 2: What is your irrational fear? 833-787-1029. When I was a kid,
- 19:07Speaker 2: it was sinkholes and elevators.
- 19:09Speaker 7: Oh, mine was peanut butter when I was a kid.
- 19:11Speaker 9: What?
- 19:11Speaker 7: I was just like, so, cause sometimes you don't get
- 19:13Speaker 7: stuck to the roof of your mouth.
- 19:15Speaker 6: And I always thought like, oh, it's just going to
- 19:16Speaker 6: get stuck.
- 19:17Speaker 7: There and like, like never leave.
- 19:19Speaker 6: So I would always put the spoon like down so
- 19:22Speaker 6: that I wouldn't get stuck on the.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Roof of my mouth.
- 19:26Speaker 7: I just thought it was going to be like.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Cement, you know?
- 19:29Speaker 2: Yeah, it would just harden up and then it's there forever.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Right.
- 19:31Speaker 2: And then you tongue like that.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I can't move my tongue.
- 19:35Speaker 9: Oh, no.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Poor Candace.
- 19:36Speaker 4: I know.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Thank God that never happened. Right.
- 19:39Speaker 7: I wouldn't be here.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Did you have an irrational fear, too?
- 19:42Speaker 1: Yeah, going over bridges, especially new construction bridges.
- 19:45Speaker 2: I'd always think that. Back in the day or now?
- 19:47Speaker 2: Some people still have that. No, back in the day.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Back in the day. I'm fine. now, but back in
- 19:51Speaker 2: the day, yeah.
- 19:51Speaker 1: When you drive over a bridge, I'd be thinking it's
- 19:54Speaker 1: missing a piece or something.
- 19:55Speaker 2: I don't know if that's irrational.
- 19:58Speaker 6: Well, if you've ever played Mario Kart, you know where
- 20:00Speaker 6: the fear came from.
- 20:02Speaker 4: True.
- 20:03Speaker 5: True.
- 20:05Speaker 2: And I swear, people don't understand the bridges here are different.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Like the high five hits different. That's not your average bridge.
- 20:11Speaker 2: People come here and they're like, what is that thing?
- 20:14Speaker 2: I mean, that's one of the biggest structures in the
- 20:16Speaker 2: world as far as highways. We're just used to it.
- 20:20Speaker 9: Right.
- 20:20Speaker 2: But when you really think about it sometimes, it is
- 20:22Speaker 2: a little freaky.
- 20:23Speaker 6: Yeah, it is because most of the ones I've been
- 20:25Speaker 6: over are like six lanes wide. You don't really notice,
- 20:28Speaker 6: but like one or two lanes.
- 20:30Speaker 2: When I was a kid, well, when my son was
- 20:32Speaker 2: a kid, not when I was a kid, when my
- 20:33Speaker 2: son was a kid, we used to pretend the one
- 20:34Speaker 2: on 35 going to 121. You know, when you're going north,
- 20:38Speaker 2: there's a huge ramp. Yeah. It looks like you're going
- 20:41Speaker 2: into the sky. Every time we were going up there,
- 20:44Speaker 2: I'd be like, all right, prepare for takeoff. And we
- 20:46Speaker 2: didn't pretend we were in a plane and we were
- 20:48Speaker 2: taking off. Oh, yeah.
- 20:49Speaker 7: It's kind of freaky.
- 20:50Speaker 2: And when you get up there, you start to think like, well,
- 20:52Speaker 2: what if it was too windy or what if something
- 20:54Speaker 2: was going on?
- 20:55Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 20:55Speaker 2: What's your rational fear? Let me know. Another one I
- 20:57Speaker 2: had was still to this day. I still have them.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Am I weird for that?
- 21:02Speaker 9: No.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Like sometimes I turn off the fan at night, the
- 21:05Speaker 2: ceiling fan, because I think it's going to fall on me.
- 21:08Speaker 10: Is it?
- 21:08Speaker 7: Is it like rocking back and forth?
- 21:10Speaker 2: They all rock a little bit.
- 21:11Speaker 9: Yeah, they do.
- 21:12Speaker 7: Yeah, I guess a little.
- 21:12Speaker 2: So I just put the fan on next to me
- 21:14Speaker 2: and I'm like, I'm going to turn that fan off.
- 21:15Speaker 2: I don't need to be getting decapitated when I'm trying
- 21:18Speaker 2: to sleep. That, I mean, also too, I had a weird,
- 21:22Speaker 2: weird phobia when I was a kid about stuff getting
- 21:24Speaker 2: in my ears.
- 21:25Speaker 5: Oh.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:26Speaker 8: Yeah. Really?
- 21:27Speaker 2: Like bugs? Yeah, like I was scared there was going
- 21:29Speaker 2: to be a bug in there. I think I read
- 21:31Speaker 2: one story one time about a spider laying eggs in
- 21:33Speaker 2: somebody's ear. Oh, no. And for the rest of my life,
- 21:37Speaker 2: I've always thought about something getting in my ear hole.
- 21:39Speaker 6: Yeah, I've heard of people who can't put the cotton.
- 21:40Speaker 7: You know how sometimes you have to put a cotton
- 21:42Speaker 7: ball in your ear or whatever to do stuff when
- 21:44Speaker 7: you're a kid?
- 21:45Speaker 2: They can't do that?
- 21:46Speaker 7: Yeah, they couldn't do that.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Oh, I would do it just to block things out. Oh.
- 21:49Speaker 2: So you can't get in there. Don't touch my earring.
- 21:53Speaker 8: Right, yeah.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Like, I remember I almost got in a fight with Lance,
- 21:56Speaker 2: this guy, when I was a kid because he gave
- 21:57Speaker 2: me a wet willy.
- 21:59Speaker 7: Oh, don't do that.
- 22:00Speaker 2: That was my worst nightmare.
- 22:01Speaker 7: That's disgusting.
- 22:02Speaker 2: A wet willy?
- 22:03Speaker 7: Right, who came up with that?
- 22:05Speaker 2: Who came up with a wet willy? You sucked on
- 22:07Speaker 2: your finger. Ew! And you stuck it in my ear. Ew!
- 22:12Speaker 2: You should go to jail, right? What's your irrational fear?
- 22:15Speaker 11: 833-787-1029.
- 22:15Speaker 2: Wet willies. You know what? I challenged somebody to give
- 22:20Speaker 2: him a wet willy today. Give someone a wet willy.
- 22:27Speaker 8: Only on the new Mix 102.9.
- 22:29Speaker 2: We've got to get to some of these calls next, too,
- 22:32Speaker 2: about these irrational fears. People have the funniest irrational fears.
- 22:35Speaker 2: We'll do that plus a banger on the way as well. Candace,
- 22:37Speaker 2: what is going on?
- 22:38Speaker 6: Well, we officially broke our dry streak yesterday with those storms.
- 22:41Speaker 6: They came through the area. The official rainfall.
- 22:43Speaker 7: Total a tenth of an inch. At DFW Airport.
- 22:47Speaker 2: One-tenth of an inch? What a joke. Come on. Yeah.
- 22:50Speaker 2: That doesn't even count. Somebody spit on us.
- 22:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:53Speaker 6: I mean, this summer, now the second driest summer on record.
- 22:56Speaker 7: No rain for.
- 22:57Speaker 6: 67 consecutive days. Hot today again for the first day
- 23:00Speaker 6: of fall, though. We're still about 10 degrees warmer than
- 23:03Speaker 6: normal for this time of year, so maybe 97-ish today.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Well, they're saying by next week it's going to cool
- 23:08Speaker 2: down into the 80s.
- 23:09Speaker 10: I hope so.
- 23:09Speaker 2: I mean, yesterday, you know, I'm in Carrollton. I thought
- 23:11Speaker 2: for sure it was going to rain. It looked like stormy.
- 23:13Speaker 2: It got windy. I was like, yes, finally, here we go. Nothing. Nothing.
- 23:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:18Speaker 6: Well, guys, Plano is starting to see campaigns for and
- 23:21Speaker 6: against the.
- 23:22Speaker 7: New Dallas Stars Arena.
- 23:24Speaker 6: The election this November could add certain taxes there. If approved,
- 23:27Speaker 6: these fees would be aimed at visitors, things like hotel
- 23:30Speaker 6: rooms and taxes on rental cars. Residents are now saying, though,
- 23:34Speaker 6: that they're getting texts, mailers. And seeing campaign signs, I
- 23:38Speaker 6: just saw one that said Dallas Stars in Plano, and
- 23:40Speaker 6: then it said, Puck, no. And they're saying these signs
- 23:44Speaker 6: are popping up around the city of Plano.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Well, what are you going to do now, though? Willow
- 23:49Speaker 2: Bend's going to be gone anyway. Yeah. So you've got
- 23:51Speaker 2: to do something there. What are you going to do?
- 23:52Speaker 7: Yeah, that's a good question.
- 23:54Speaker 6: I mean, these people are saying these messages are kind
- 23:56Speaker 6: of mysterious, though they're coming from a political action committee named.
- 23:59Speaker 7: Victory Green Plano.
- 24:01Speaker 6: But when the opposing group sends emails, they can't deliver them.
- 24:05Speaker 6: They come back undeliverable and then their phone calls weren't returned.
- 24:09Speaker 7: So they're like, who's behind this? They don't know.
- 24:11Speaker 6: But yeah, you're seeing, you know, a lot going on
- 24:13Speaker 6: in Plano around the Dallas Stars right now.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Yeah, Stars played last night.
- 24:17Speaker 7: Did they?
- 24:18Speaker 2: Yeah. That must be preseason already.
- 24:20Speaker 7: Okay, yeah.
- 24:21Speaker 6: I think they started training camp just like a week or.
- 24:23Speaker 7: Two ago, right?
- 24:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm excited. But yeah, I mean, there's going to
- 24:26Speaker 2: be an empty space of land. What are they going
- 24:28Speaker 2: to do? If they don't do that, if they don't
- 24:29Speaker 2: do an arena, what are they going to do? Another
- 24:30Speaker 2: Legacy West?
- 24:31Speaker 7: Well, that's what I.
- 24:32Speaker 6: Thought originally was supposed to be an outdoor style mall before.
- 24:35Speaker 7: The Dallas Stars, right?
- 24:36Speaker 2: We're going to have 15,000 residential shopping malls. That's all
- 24:39Speaker 2: it's going to be. Legacy West, Legacy East, Star.
- 24:42Speaker 4: Right.
- 24:42Speaker 2: South Legacy. That's what they're going to call that. South Legacy.
- 24:46Speaker 7: Yeah, I'd go there for sure.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I would too.
- 24:48Speaker 7: But the point.
- 24:51Speaker 8: Is.
- 24:51Speaker 7: Guys, real quick.
- 24:52Speaker 6: Channing Tatum is speaking out about that fake Instagram account
- 24:55Speaker 6: that went viral. We were talking about this yesterday. It
- 24:57Speaker 6: was that account called Nanya Bidness.
- 25:00Speaker 7: I guess it was.
- 25:01Speaker 6: Trolling his exes when it was actually an active account.
- 25:04Speaker 7: And he was the only follower.
- 25:05Speaker 5: He says.
- 25:06Speaker 7: I truly can't.
- 25:07Speaker 6: Believe y'all think this is what I'm doing with my
- 25:09Speaker 6: free time. Also, why would I follow a burner account
- 25:12Speaker 6: if I didn't want people to connect me to it?
- 25:14Speaker 6: So it sounds like this account was at one point
- 25:17Speaker 6: a fan account.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Yes.
- 25:19Speaker 6: So he followed it and then it evolved into this.
- 25:22Speaker 6: And so, you know, they can manipulate the way this looks.
- 25:25Speaker 7: But it was so funny yesterday.
- 25:26Speaker 2: I mean, we kind of had an idea like, come on,
- 25:28Speaker 2: Channing Tatum's not going to be doing that. He's got
- 25:30Speaker 2: other stuff he needs to be doing.
- 25:31Speaker 7: Yeah, for sure.
- 25:32Speaker 2: You know, I mean, come on. What do you want
- 25:34Speaker 2: to troll an ex for anyway? Whether you're famous or not,
- 25:36Speaker 2: just get over it and move on. You're going to
- 25:38Speaker 2: start a whole account to troll an ex?
- 25:41Speaker 3: Right.
- 25:41Speaker 2: I mean, people do it, though.
- 25:43Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, but someone else was just doing it,
- 25:45Speaker 6: probably not even involved with him or his exes, just
- 25:48Speaker 6: getting a kick out of this.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Yeah, and they got what they wanted. They got some
- 25:50Speaker 2: people talking about it.
- 25:51Speaker 7: They did, for sure.
- 25:52Speaker 6: I'm Candace Lopez. Those are your Texas Top Stories.
- 25:55Speaker 2: We've got Dirty Little Secret coming up next on Mix 102.9.
- 25:57Speaker 2: It's Billy the Kid, Candace Lopez, producer Pooh. I'm running
- 26:01Speaker 2: a little bit late today, but I did not forget.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Everybody's wondering what exactly Pooh did where I have a
- 26:06Speaker 2: video of him, and he's busted. That's all he knows.
- 26:09Speaker 2: I have a video proof that he did something. He
- 26:11Speaker 2: thinks it might be texting and driving. What could it be?
- 26:14Speaker 2: It might be something else he did over the weekend.
- 26:17Speaker 2: I didn't do nothing. But I'm going to talk about
- 26:19Speaker 2: that coming up next. Oh, yes, you did. And I
- 26:22Speaker 2: have video proof from an insider.
- 26:25Speaker 8: What?
- 26:26Speaker 2: That's all I'm going to say. We're talking about it next.
- 26:28Speaker 7: What?
- 26:29Speaker 2: You're always telling on me. I didn't do nothing this time.
- 26:32Speaker 9: Hold on.
- 26:32Speaker 2: We'll do the banger coming up. But we're talking about
- 26:34Speaker 2: irrational fears. And so many people are calling them with
- 26:37Speaker 2: great irrational fears. What's yours? 833-787-1029. Now, Shay has one.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Your fear is what?
- 26:44Speaker 9: Well, as an adult, I have an irrational fear of clowns.
- 26:48Speaker 2: I don't know if that's irrational.
- 26:51Speaker 9: I can't stand them. It's gotten to the point where
- 26:53Speaker 9: my kids want to go to the circus, and I'm like,
- 26:56Speaker 9: I can't do it.
- 26:57Speaker 4: You're going to have to go either by yourself or
- 26:58Speaker 4: with your grandma. Yeah, I get that.
- 27:03Speaker 9: I can't watch the movie Pennywise. I scream my head
- 27:06Speaker 9: off for like an hour.
- 27:07Speaker 2: We used to work with a guy here who was
- 27:09Speaker 2: scared of clowns, and I always thought it was a joke.
- 27:11Speaker 2: And then one time we were out, and I had
- 27:12Speaker 2: the clown that was out there at some event go
- 27:15Speaker 2: up to him, and I've never felt worse in my
- 27:17Speaker 2: life because he started sweating, almost started crying. You had
- 27:21Speaker 2: a panic attack.
- 27:22Speaker 9: Yeah, I've been to Six Flags where they do the
- 27:25Speaker 9: screen fest. And if it's even like a clown, even
- 27:28Speaker 9: from Spirit Halloween, I start shaking and crying. Well, my
- 27:32Speaker 9: kid wants to be a clown for Halloween.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Oh, God. Just torturing mom. Well, good luck with everything,
- 27:40Speaker 2: and I hope it works out, and I'm scared for you.
- 27:42Speaker 9: Thank you.
- 27:43Speaker 2: All right, Shay, you have a good day. Thank you
- 27:44Speaker 2: for calling.
- 27:45Speaker 12: You too.
- 27:45Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Bye. Devin Ray, what is your irrational fear?
- 27:49Speaker 3: Eating steak.
- 27:51Speaker 5: So I'm scared to chew on the steak, but not
- 27:54Speaker 5: enough to the point that I choke myself.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Nobody understands I'm over here dying and choking.
- 27:59Speaker 2: No, that's a big fear, too. I know. I have
- 28:03Speaker 2: a lot of irrational fears, but I'm alone a lot.
- 28:05Speaker 2: So sometimes I'm like, what if I die in my
- 28:07Speaker 2: pool alone? Oh, that's awful. You know? And I have
- 28:10Speaker 2: my pants down because I'm tanning my butt. And people
- 28:14Speaker 2: are going to be like, why were his swim trunks
- 28:17Speaker 2: down around his ankles?
- 28:19Speaker 6: We're going to be more embarrassed if that happens than you.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Is that your irrational fear? Thank you so much. Good
- 28:27Speaker 2: throwback right there. Dirty Little Secret is next on Mix 102.9.
- 28:31Speaker 2: It's Billy the Kid, Candace Lopez, producer Pooh. Oh, yeah,
- 28:34Speaker 2: busted over the weekend. I meant to talk about this yesterday,
- 28:36Speaker 2: but I didn't. Oh, Pooh got so busted. It's almost
- 28:39Speaker 2: like an impromptu Candace Court. So he lost Wheel of Misfortune.
- 28:43Speaker 2: He has no idea what I'm talking about right now,
- 28:45Speaker 2: by the way. He wasn't texting and driving this time. Okay, yeah,
- 28:49Speaker 2: I was going to say. Okay, what did he lose, Candace?
- 28:51Speaker 2: On Friday, he lost a wheel of misfortune. What was
- 28:53Speaker 2: his punishment?
- 28:54Speaker 7: It was to walk backwards for the rest of the day.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Do you think he did that? No.
- 28:59Speaker 4: No.
- 28:59Speaker 2: What do you mean?
- 29:01Speaker 3: I did.
- 29:01Speaker 2: I even videoed myself. I have video proof that he didn't,
- 29:07Speaker 2: that I just posted on my Instagram. Really? I just posted,
- 29:11Speaker 2: literally just posted it so he wouldn't see it until
- 29:13Speaker 2: right now. At Billy on the radio. You can see
- 29:15Speaker 2: it on my story of him at the Galleria. At
- 29:19Speaker 2: the Galleria walking not backwards. What are you talking about?
- 29:23Speaker 2: And guess what? And guess who sent it to me?
- 29:25Speaker 2: You know what? Here, I'll play the beginning of the video,
- 29:26Speaker 2: and I think you'll know who sent it to me. Okay.
- 29:28Speaker 2: You ready?
- 29:29Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Uncle Billy, Uncle Billy, look.
- 29:31Speaker 5: My dad's not even walking backwards.
- 29:33Speaker 8: Oh!
- 29:34Speaker 5: My.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Yep. Is that my son, Billy? Brendan? Let me play
- 29:41Speaker 2: it again. Uncle Billy, Uncle Billy, look. My dad's not
- 29:43Speaker 2: even walking backwards.
- 29:45Speaker 4: There you go.
- 29:46Speaker 3: Ooh!
- 29:47Speaker 2: And the video is up. I told you I have
- 29:49Speaker 2: people everywhere, including your own home. My own son. Well,
- 29:54Speaker 2: now I got to figure out exactly what we should
- 29:56Speaker 2: do since he broke the punishment. So we'll have to
- 29:58Speaker 2: talk about that a little bit later. Well, he grounded
- 29:59Speaker 2: for snitching. No, he's not. And I got to give
- 30:01Speaker 2: you 20 bucks so you can give it to him.
- 30:03Speaker 2: I ain't giving him nothing.
- 30:05Speaker 3: I told you.
- 30:07Speaker 2: I got people everywhere, Pooh. Uncle Billy, Uncle Billy, look.
- 30:11Speaker 2: My dad's not even walking backwards. I love it.
- 30:13Speaker 4: I love it.
- 30:14Speaker 2: That's a good son right there. Dirty Little Secret is next.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Get ready. Get it off your chest.
- 30:25Speaker 5: It's Dirty Little Secret with Billy the Kid in the
- 30:27Speaker 5: Morning on Mix 102.9.
- 30:28Speaker 8: Brought to you by Mint Dentistry.
- 30:31Speaker 2: We're getting ready for Dirty Little Secret on Mix. It's
- 30:33Speaker 2: Billy the Kid, Candace Lopez, Producer Pooh. A lot of
- 30:35Speaker 2: people hit me up on Instagram right now going, oh,
- 30:38Speaker 2: Pooh cheated. What should we do? I can't believe what
- 30:41Speaker 2: should we do? You're supposed to walk backwards all day
- 30:43Speaker 2: on Friday. I knew he wasn't going to do it
- 30:45Speaker 2: all day. I had a feeling. But yeah, but I mean,
- 30:47Speaker 2: he was busted right away at the Galleria, not walking backwards. See,
- 30:52Speaker 2: I wouldn't have went to the Galleria. Yeah, I just
- 30:54Speaker 2: wouldn't have went because I'm like, no, I'm not going
- 30:56Speaker 2: to do that and walk backwards the entire time. So
- 30:58Speaker 2: either way, some people are saying, hey, start the corny
- 31:00Speaker 2: dog walk. On Friday, the first mile, he has to
- 31:03Speaker 2: walk backwards.
- 31:04Speaker 7: Wow.
- 31:05Speaker 6: Well, didn't we say last Friday, if you broke it,
- 31:07Speaker 6: you had to redo it next week.
- 31:09Speaker 7: So technically... Just.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Throwing that out there. Maybe that's what we do. We
- 31:13Speaker 2: just start the first mile of the corny dog walk
- 31:16Speaker 2: as we walk to the fair.
- 31:17Speaker 7: He's going to be so far behind, though.
- 31:19Speaker 2: He's wow.
- 31:23Speaker 6: Nobody walks as fast backwards i mean it's anybody either
- 31:26Speaker 6: way we walk to the fair on friday we kick.
- 31:28Speaker 2: It off at 10 second annual corny dog walk and
- 31:31Speaker 2: i think the first mile poo is going to be
- 31:32Speaker 2: walking backwards oh come on so and he walks like
- 31:36Speaker 2: in the video everyone's like is everything okay the way
- 31:38Speaker 2: he's walking looks funny yeah that's just how he walks
- 31:41Speaker 2: he walks like he's got the rosado yeah I need
- 31:45Speaker 2: an alignment.
- 31:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:46Speaker 2: His legs are so far apart. Yeah. You know, like
- 31:49Speaker 2: the waddle is real. The second annual waddle to the fair.
- 31:54Speaker 5: All right.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Dirty little secret. If you got one, 833-787-1029, and you do,
- 32:01Speaker 2: what is going on?
- 32:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 32:03Speaker 3: So if I'm being honest, this could completely destroy my
- 32:07Speaker 3: relationship with my sister if she ever found out. I
- 32:11Speaker 3: anonymously reported her and her husband to CPS. And honestly,
- 32:15Speaker 3: I don't regret.
- 32:16Speaker 12: It at all.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Whoa. To CPS, to Child Protective Services. Your sister?
- 32:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:24Speaker 8: Why?
- 32:25Speaker 3: So they have two young kids, six and eight. And
- 32:28Speaker 3: for years, they've been very open about the fact that
- 32:31Speaker 3: they use a belt to discipline them. And I mean,
- 32:35Speaker 3: I'm not talking about something that I've just heard about either.
- 32:37Speaker 3: I've like... actually seen the aftermath and these kids come
- 32:42Speaker 3: over to my house and I've seen the marks and
- 32:44Speaker 3: welts on the backs of their legs more times than
- 32:47Speaker 3: I can count and Yes, I'll be the first person
- 32:50Speaker 3: to admit that their kids can be like bad, bad.
- 32:53Speaker 3: Like they're wild. They don't listen. They're constantly getting into something.
- 32:58Speaker 3: But I mean, they're six and they're eight.
- 33:01Speaker 9: Right.
- 33:01Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 33:03Speaker 3: So a couple of weeks ago, we were at their
- 33:06Speaker 3: house and one of the kids got into trouble. And
- 33:09Speaker 3: my brother-in-law made another comment about how he is going
- 33:12Speaker 3: to whip them into shape. And I just, I don't know,
- 33:17Speaker 3: something in me snapped and me and my sister got
- 33:21Speaker 3: into an argument about it. And she told me that
- 33:24Speaker 3: they're her kids and this is how they discipline them
- 33:27Speaker 3: and I need to stay out of it. So I
- 33:29Speaker 3: just left, you know, but the entire drive home, I'm
- 33:32Speaker 3: thinking like, what if staying out of it makes me
- 33:35Speaker 3: part of the problem?
- 33:36Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 33:37Speaker 2: Okay. So you decided to do something about it and, um, Now,
- 33:41Speaker 2: were you and your sister, were you, like, I know
- 33:44Speaker 2: some people spank, some people don't. Belt is a little
- 33:46Speaker 2: bit different than, were you both, were you raised like
- 33:49Speaker 2: this where you would get, you know, quote, whipped?
- 33:52Speaker 3: No.
- 33:52Speaker 2: No?
- 33:53Speaker 8: No.
- 33:54Speaker 3: My sister and I were not raised like this. Our
- 33:56Speaker 3: parents did not beat us with belts, you know, like. Yeah.
- 33:59Speaker 3: this totally comes from her husband. That's how he grew up.
- 34:03Speaker 3: He's very old school. He'll say things like my dad
- 34:07Speaker 3: whipped me and I turned out fine or kids today
- 34:10Speaker 3: need more of this and stuff.
- 34:11Speaker 2: You know?
- 34:13Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 34:14Speaker 3: Yeah, no. But when you're hitting a child hard enough
- 34:17Speaker 3: with a belt that they're like regularly showing up with
- 34:20Speaker 3: marks and welts, that's, beyond anything that I possibly.
- 34:24Speaker 2: You know, so you call CPS, um, anonymously, of course,
- 34:29Speaker 2: what do you tell them?
- 34:31Speaker 3: Well, I didn't give them my name. I just told
- 34:33Speaker 3: them that I've personally seen like these welts and things
- 34:39Speaker 3: and I let them decide, you know, what needs to
- 34:42Speaker 3: happen next. I don't want their children like taken away
- 34:46Speaker 3: from them. That's not my goal at all. You know,
- 34:49Speaker 3: I love my sister. I love them. And I know
- 34:52Speaker 3: she loves her kids. I'm hoping somebody showing up and
- 34:56Speaker 3: like asking questions makes them start taking this more seriously.
- 35:01Speaker 2: So that's what you want them to do. You bet
- 35:03Speaker 2: you want, you want it to scare her a little bit.
- 35:06Speaker 1: It's just not that simple. They're going to show up
- 35:08Speaker 1: and they're going to, they will, They file a report.
- 35:11Speaker 1: These kids could get taken away. I don't think they're
- 35:14Speaker 1: going to get taken away right away.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Not right away, but they're under the radar. They should be.
- 35:22Speaker 1: I think you let your temper get the best of you.
- 35:25Speaker 1: You should have at least had a conversation with your sister.
- 35:27Speaker 1: She tried to.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Both of them are heated. You don't just sneak off
- 35:31Speaker 2: and call it. CPS is serious. Well, so is leaving
- 35:35Speaker 2: belt whips.
- 35:37Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not going to— You're old school, though.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Who thinks it's fine? I'm old school like, you know,
- 35:41Speaker 2: your brother-in-law.
- 35:41Speaker 1: I got whooped. I got whooped by my mom, my dad.
- 35:44Speaker 1: To the point where it was leaving marks and welts?
- 35:46Speaker 2: I mean, no. Welts? Not welts. Consistently? I didn't swept up.
- 35:51Speaker 1: I think one of my— When my grandma whooped me
- 35:54Speaker 1: with a switch, I did have a little welt, but
- 35:56Speaker 1: that was just because it was a big old switch.
- 35:58Speaker 2: I don't know what the law is, but I think
- 36:01Speaker 2: if I remember, we looked into this one time. I
- 36:03Speaker 2: think the law was basically if you are— you can do
- 36:06Speaker 2: this kind of— it' s not illegal to use a belt.
- 36:07Speaker 7: I mean, that's basically a weapon.
- 36:09Speaker 2: But if you're using it and it's leaving injuries to
- 36:12Speaker 2: a child, I think that's where it becomes a major problem.
- 36:14Speaker 6: If this happened at school, it'd be an issue.
- 36:16Speaker 2: I mean, but there's still schools— If.
- 36:17Speaker 7: This happened to an adult, this would be an issue.
- 36:19Speaker 2: There's still schools that— That use belts? Not belts.
- 36:21Speaker 3: No.
- 36:21Speaker 2: They have paddles.
- 36:22Speaker 1: There's still schools out there that have corporal punishment.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Like outside of Houston, I know. I remember I looked
- 36:29Speaker 2: it up. Like recently? I looked it up a while back, yes.
- 36:32Speaker 5: No way.
- 36:33Speaker 2: I'm telling you. I don't think so. But anyway, so
- 36:35Speaker 2: you call them. You say you don't feel bad about it.
- 36:38Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure it was a tough decision. Does
- 36:40Speaker 2: anything happen yet or not yet?
- 36:42Speaker 10: So my sister just recently reached out to me and
- 36:46Speaker 10: said that somebody reported them, and she's obviously furious about it, and.
- 36:50Speaker 3: She's trying to figure out who did it. Um, I'm
- 36:53Speaker 3: just like sitting there listening to her talk about what
- 36:56Speaker 3: a horrible person would do this to her family. And
- 37:00Speaker 3: I'm like knowing the entire time that it was me.
- 37:03Speaker 7: You know, you're brave. You're very brave.
- 37:07Speaker 2: I trust that you made a decision after seeing the
- 37:09Speaker 2: kids consistently with injuries on them.
- 37:12Speaker 4: Right.
- 37:13Speaker 2: And, and trying to talk to him afterwards. I can't
- 37:15Speaker 2: blame you for doing something about it. I can't.
- 37:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:19Speaker 2: I'm not saying you can't spank your kids. I'm not
- 37:21Speaker 2: saying that either, but you, you shouldn't leave injuries to
- 37:24Speaker 2: the kids. Okay.
- 37:25Speaker 5: That.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Yeah. I agree with that.
- 37:28Speaker 10: She's my sister.
- 37:29Speaker 3: I love her, but they're also my niece and nephew
- 37:32Speaker 3: and I love them too. And yeah, I don't know.
- 37:35Speaker 3: I did what I did because I felt like something had,
- 37:37Speaker 3: somebody had to stand up for those kids and I
- 37:40Speaker 3: don't think they were going to change unless I like.
- 37:43Speaker 2: I don't like the vibe of the guy.
- 37:45Speaker 7: Right.
- 37:46Speaker 2: I don't know. I automatically just go, he's influencing her
- 37:49Speaker 2: to do things that she doesn't seem comfortable with, but
- 37:52Speaker 2: maybe I'm wrong. I don't know.
- 37:53Speaker 7: She's going to.
- 37:54Speaker 2: Stand by her husband, though.
- 37:56Speaker 7: At some point, stand by your kids.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Either way, I know we're going to get calls about this,
- 38:02Speaker 2: and I'm good. I want people to call in and
- 38:04Speaker 2: let me know what you think, whether you did the
- 38:05Speaker 2: right thing or not. I think... You followed your gut instinct,
- 38:09Speaker 2: and I don't think usually with women, your intuition is
- 38:11Speaker 2: spot on.
- 38:12Speaker 6: Yep.
- 38:13Speaker 2: So let us know what happens.
- 38:15Speaker 10: Thank you for saying that. Yeah, of course.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you.
- 38:17Speaker 2: Good luck with everything.
- 38:18Speaker 3: Thank you, guys. I appreciate it.
- 38:20Speaker 2: The lines are lit up. Yeah, what do you think?
- 38:22Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know if I would have called CPS, though.
- 38:25Speaker 2: I'm not saying it's right, but I don't know if
- 38:28Speaker 2: I would have made that call right away. Who wouldn't have?
- 38:32Speaker 2: I can already tell. He's getting the phones right now.
- 38:33Speaker 2: What do you think? We'll get to you next. Plus,
- 38:35Speaker 2: we got Candace Court on the line.
- 38:37Speaker 5: It's time for Candace Court. It gets settled here with
- 38:41Speaker 5: Billy the Kid in the morning.
- 38:42Speaker 2: All rise for the Honorable Judge Candace Lopez. Well, I mean,
- 38:45Speaker 2: you know what? For Candace Court today, we got to
- 38:47Speaker 2: talk about the dirty little secret.
- 38:48Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Every line is lit up with people just, I mean,
- 38:52Speaker 2: I'll give you the results of the little poll we
- 38:54Speaker 2: just took on the request lines. But if you missed it,
- 38:56Speaker 2: dirty little secret was very controversial because this woman basically
- 39:01Speaker 2: reported her sister to CPS. That's what's going on. It's
- 39:05Speaker 2: Mix 102.9, Ability Kid, Candice Lopez, Producer Pooh. And what
- 39:09Speaker 2: happened was she was noticing welts on the kids. And
- 39:12Speaker 2: the father, I guess, was saying, listen, I whip my
- 39:16Speaker 2: kids with a belt. That's what happens. That's what I do.
- 39:19Speaker 2: I didn't grow up getting spanked like that. I just
- 39:23Speaker 2: didn't need it, believe it or not. I know it
- 39:25Speaker 2: sounds like I probably did as a kid, but I
- 39:27Speaker 2: was a pretty good kid.
- 39:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Like who needed it? No, I needed it. Like Candace,
- 39:31Speaker 2: you probably didn't need it.
- 39:32Speaker 6: No, I needed, I needed to be put in my
- 39:35Speaker 6: place a few times and I was.
- 39:37Speaker 2: Yeah. In this case, the kids, she noticed some kids
- 39:40Speaker 2: had obvious welts on them.
- 39:42Speaker 7: All of them at the same time?
- 39:44Speaker 2: Yeah, consistently. So she reported him to CPS, got in
- 39:48Speaker 2: a fight with her sister about it, and every call
- 39:50Speaker 2: has a different opinion right now. Mark, what do you think?
- 39:53Speaker 11: What's going on, boss?
- 39:54Speaker 5: She should have never called.
- 39:56Speaker 2: I'm a firm believer.
- 39:57Speaker 5: Okay, I understand leaving marks on a kid is not right,
- 40:01Speaker 5: and I understand that. But at the end of the day,
- 40:04Speaker 5: in today's age, we've all been there. We've all seen
- 40:07Speaker 5: a kid acting out, and you're thinking, what is this
- 40:10Speaker 5: parent doing? Why is he not doing anything about it?
- 40:14Speaker 5: You got kids. I'm standing in line waiting to pay
- 40:17Speaker 5: for my groceries. And you got kids jumping on the
- 40:19Speaker 5: damn register and stuff. And you're sitting there going, what
- 40:22Speaker 5: are you doing as a parent?
- 40:24Speaker 8: What are you doing?
- 40:25Speaker 2: Why?
- 40:25Speaker 5: Why are you allowing them to do whatever they want?
- 40:27Speaker 5: That would have been to me back in the day. And, yeah,
- 40:30Speaker 5: we're old school or whatever you want to call it.
- 40:32Speaker 5: But to me, that would have been that that would
- 40:34Speaker 5: have been a no, no, man.
- 40:36Speaker 3: You go home.
- 40:37Speaker 5: Your parents are going to whoop your butt a little
- 40:39Speaker 5: bit because you're acting out, and we needed that growing up.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Now, I think the difference is, though, what set her
- 40:45Speaker 2: off was the consistency of the welts. I think that's
- 40:49Speaker 2: what really got her to the point of, like, I
- 40:51Speaker 2: got to do something, you know? Right.
- 40:52Speaker 5: Yeah. And I completely understand that. But I would probably
- 40:56Speaker 5: if it was my sister, I would get other family involved.
- 40:58Speaker 5: And I would say, hey, you know, I understand you
- 41:01Speaker 5: want to discipline your kids, but you need to we
- 41:03Speaker 5: need we need to we need you guys to calm
- 41:05Speaker 5: down with this. You don't call, you know, the government,
- 41:08Speaker 5: you know, if those kids get taken away, what is
- 41:10Speaker 5: she going to do then?
- 41:11Speaker 2: She's going to start crying about it. Yeah, it's tough.
- 41:14Speaker 2: You're right, Mark. That's a good point. Well, thank you.
- 41:16Speaker 2: And I appreciate it. And you're right. There's definitely times
- 41:19Speaker 2: where I'm like parents do something for the love of God. Exactly.
- 41:22Speaker 5: We've all been there. Restaurants, public places. These kids are
- 41:26Speaker 5: going crazy and the parents are just sitting there. Oh,
- 41:28Speaker 5: don't tell them nothing because they're they're growing up. You're
- 41:32Speaker 5: going to scar them for life. Come on, man. Give
- 41:34Speaker 5: me a break.
- 41:35Speaker 2: All right, Mark. Great point. Thank you for calling. We
- 41:37Speaker 2: appreciate it. A lot of calls about this. Jane. Jane
- 41:40Speaker 2: and McKinney, what's up, Jane? What do you think?
- 41:42Speaker 12: In cases like these, so I've worked in schools for,
- 41:45Speaker 12: I don't know, 30 years or so, give or take.
- 41:47Speaker 12: When marks like this are being left on a child,
- 41:51Speaker 12: really no matter the age, it is our, definitely as
- 41:54Speaker 12: an educator, but as well as just our civil duty
- 41:57Speaker 12: to report in these cases. CPS very rarely takes a
- 42:00Speaker 12: child away the first time. They try to Implement some
- 42:05Speaker 12: parenting strategies, get the parents some support on how to
- 42:09Speaker 12: approach challenging situations with their children rather than whipping them
- 42:14Speaker 12: to the point of welts and bruises and marks on
- 42:17Speaker 12: them on a regular basis.
- 42:18Speaker 2: I mean, I did look up the legality, like as
- 42:21Speaker 2: far as the definition of the laws, when you're leaving
- 42:23Speaker 2: marks on a child, you can use a belt. But
- 42:25Speaker 2: when you leave marks on the child. and injure the child,
- 42:28Speaker 2: that's where it becomes abuse.
- 42:29Speaker 6: I have a hard time believing that a kid is
- 42:31Speaker 6: going to continue to act up after one time.
- 42:34Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Yeah, that's a good point, too. Well, hey, Jane,
- 42:37Speaker 2: thank you so much. We appreciate you calling.
- 42:39Speaker 12: All right, thank you.
- 42:40Speaker 2: Thank you, bye. Okay, Scott. Good morning, Scott. What do
- 42:43Speaker 2: you think?
- 42:43Speaker 4: I don't believe in CPS. I believe they don't help
- 42:49Speaker 4: the people that need it. But I also say about
- 42:52Speaker 4: this corporal punishment, about the schools, man, Godly Texas still
- 42:56Speaker 4: does it.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Really?
- 42:58Speaker 4: Yes, sir, right here in Godly Texas. You sign that paper,
- 43:01Speaker 4: they will call you and tell you they're spanking your
- 43:04Speaker 4: kid with a paddle.
- 43:05Speaker 2: Told you. No, paddle. I know paddle. I'm saying, though, like,
- 43:09Speaker 2: my whole thing is I get it, and I know
- 43:11Speaker 2: there's some school districts. I'm surprised some school districts still
- 43:14Speaker 2: do it just for liability reasons. But if you're right,
- 43:16Speaker 2: there's a form. I guess you're saying it's okay. Like, Poo,
- 43:19Speaker 2: would you sign the form and say... Beat my kids? Yeah.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Give them licks? Yes. You would? Yeah.
- 43:25Speaker 5: All right. I did for my kids.
- 43:29Speaker 4: I mean, they got to learn the same way that
- 43:32Speaker 4: we learn.
- 43:32Speaker 2: I got it. Yay. All right. Thank you so much.
- 43:35Speaker 2: Godly's still doing that, huh?
- 43:36Speaker 7: I mean, see something, say something, right? God forbid this escalates. No, seriously.
- 43:41Speaker 2: I'm not laughing.
- 43:41Speaker 7: The sister doesn't live in the home.
- 43:43Speaker 6: It could be far worse than she even knows.
- 43:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:46Speaker 7: Is that worth the risk?
- 43:47Speaker 2: There doesn't have to be a verdict today because it's
- 43:49Speaker 2: a little bit different in Candace Court. For sure. When
- 43:51Speaker 2: we can't figure out who's guilty, I usually just go,
- 43:53Speaker 2: it's poo.
- 43:54Speaker 8: Oh, no.
- 43:57Speaker 2: I don't know what he did. I wasn't even in
- 43:59Speaker 2: the house. I know, but I'm sorry. You just got
- 44:01Speaker 2: to take the blame today. You're guilty of being a
- 44:04Speaker 2: spanking Hank. So stop spanking.
- 44:07Speaker 6: All right?
- 44:08Speaker 2: I think we should bring it to work. The paddle?
- 44:11Speaker 9: Yes.
- 44:11Speaker 7: Oh, my God.
- 44:12Speaker 2: To be honest, sometimes we deserve it. We need it
- 44:15Speaker 2: up here. Who's getting licks?
- 44:17Speaker 4: All right?
- 44:18Speaker 2: Not me. Yes, you are.
- 44:19Speaker 9: Not me.
- 44:21Speaker 2: Go pick a switch. 102.9.
- 44:23Speaker 8: The new Mix 102.9. It's Texas Top Stories on the
- 44:29Speaker 8: 10s with Billy the Kid in the morning. Only on
- 44:32Speaker 8: the new Mix 102.9.
- 44:34Speaker 2: Give it away all day on the 10s. Your chance
- 44:36Speaker 2: to win. I'm so excited for the fair.
- 44:38Speaker 7: Yeah, me too.
- 44:39Speaker 2: I mean, this Friday it kicks off and we're doing
- 44:40Speaker 2: the Corny Dog Walk. Can't wait. Candace, what is going on?
- 44:44Speaker 6: Well, hundreds of flights in and out of Dallas-Fort Worth
- 44:46Speaker 6: International Airport and Dallas-Love Field were delayed or canceled yesterday
- 44:50Speaker 6: due to a combination of things, severe thunderstorms, ground stops,
- 44:54Speaker 6: and technical problems. The FAA did also roll out an
- 44:58Speaker 6: AI tool yesterday, hoping to cut down on flight delays.
- 45:01Speaker 6: So this is an $ 875 million AI system designed to
- 45:03Speaker 6: analyze the sky's for potential flight obstacles, so things like weather,
- 45:11Speaker 6: runway capacity.
- 45:12Speaker 7: It can also suggest alternate routes.
- 45:14Speaker 6: To air traffic controllers who will have the final say
- 45:17Speaker 6: when they're using this new tech.
- 45:20Speaker 7: They're testing it out right now at airports in the D.C.
- 45:22Speaker 8: Area.
- 45:23Speaker 6: They're hoping to expand this nationwide by 2028. But yeah,
- 45:28Speaker 6: interesting to see us now AI maxing.
- 45:31Speaker 7: At the airport.
- 45:31Speaker 2: I'm all about using AI as a tool, but we
- 45:34Speaker 2: shouldn't rely on it for everything.
- 45:35Speaker 8: No, I agree.
- 45:36Speaker 2: Of course it should be double checked. There should be
- 45:39Speaker 2: some security precautions in place with humans involved. Right.
- 45:43Speaker 6: They're saying, you know, these controllers will have the final
- 45:46Speaker 6: say when they're using it.
- 45:47Speaker 7: But there's a rep there, you know, calling for.
- 45:49Speaker 6: This to be suspended immediately because he's saying air traffic
- 45:52Speaker 6: controllers weren't even consulted on the design and weren't even
- 45:56Speaker 6: trained on it beforehand, which that's the scary part.
- 45:59Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 46:00Speaker 6: So there's a lot of disagreement right now on how
- 46:02Speaker 6: many controllers need to be hired.
- 46:04Speaker 7: We're obviously in a shortage.
- 46:07Speaker 6: But they're saying, you know, the system won't replace workers,
- 46:10Speaker 6: but it's definitely going to impact things.
- 46:12Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, pay people like this who have very
- 46:14Speaker 2: important jobs. controlling airspace throughout the United States of America,
- 46:19Speaker 2: pay them properly. Yeah.
- 46:20Speaker 7: Pay everyone properly, but pay them properly. Exactly.
- 46:23Speaker 6: Guys, a federal judge has dismissed the lawsuit accusing Hershey
- 46:28Speaker 6: of misleading consumers by showing carved faces on Reese's Halloween
- 46:32Speaker 6: pumpkin packaging when the actual candy didn't have faces.
- 46:36Speaker 2: Do you remember this story? It is ridiculous.
- 46:38Speaker 8: It is.
- 46:39Speaker 6: So this ruling says the plaintiffs failed to show they
- 46:42Speaker 6: did suffer a legally recognizable financial loss. through the candy
- 46:46Speaker 6: um the judge is like basically you guys were disappointed
- 46:50Speaker 6: this doesn't have any merit uh but i heard about
- 46:52Speaker 6: this lawsuit i don't know if it was the end
- 46:54Speaker 6: of last year they're saying they plan to appeal hershey
- 46:58Speaker 6: says the faces shown on the packaging were only a
- 47:00Speaker 6: decoration suggestion uh but i don't expect the pumpkin snap
- 47:04Speaker 6: faces i just want to eat it i don't care
- 47:06Speaker 6: if there's a face.
- 47:07Speaker 2: Either way right well i just like they have to
- 47:09Speaker 2: put it on the package certain disclaimers like not actual
- 47:12Speaker 2: size and you're like we know we know on m &
- 47:14Speaker 2: m' s not six inches long 100%.
- 47:17Speaker 6: Guys, the MTV VMAs this weekend will honor Taylor Swift
- 47:21Speaker 6: with the first ever Artist Director Award. This is a
- 47:24Speaker 6: new award that recognizes artists who have directed.
- 47:27Speaker 7: Their music videos.
- 47:28Speaker 6: She's won four VMAs already for Best Direction. She's nominated
- 47:32Speaker 6: again this year for her video for Opalite. I think
- 47:35Speaker 6: she's directed at least 15 of her own music videos.
- 47:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 47:39Speaker 6: But she's got nine nominations this year, including artist of
- 47:43Speaker 6: the year.
- 47:43Speaker 7: So looking forward to.
- 47:44Speaker 6: The VMA Snoop Dogg is hosting this Sunday at 830 p.m.
- 47:48Speaker 6: on CBS MTV and Paramount Plus.
- 47:50Speaker 2: OK, good. So I can actually watch. I like watching
- 47:53Speaker 2: the VMAs because there's still good performances and.
- 47:56Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 47:57Speaker 2: It's just very relevant. Some of the award shows to
- 47:59Speaker 2: me have lost it. Not them.
- 48:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:01Speaker 6: I mean, the VMAs are iconic. You know, we've been
- 48:03Speaker 6: watching them for decades. So watch it this year for sure.
- 48:06Speaker 6: I'm Candace Lopez. Those are your Texas top stories.
- 48:08Speaker 2: Mix 102.9. A hot take of the day.
- 48:13Speaker 8: Well, that's a hot take. Let us know what you think.
- 48:15Speaker 8: Here's today's hot take.
- 48:16Speaker 2: All right. It's Billy the Kid, Candace Lopez, producer Poo.
- 48:19Speaker 2: Another shot at your season pass for the State Fair
- 48:21Speaker 2: of Texas. By the way, that is coming up. We'll
- 48:23Speaker 2: do it on the 10s pretty much all day, so
- 48:25Speaker 2: make sure you listen. And find us on the iHeartRadio app.
- 48:27Speaker 2: Send us that talk back. That's how you're going to
- 48:29Speaker 2: win if you want it. So we'll do it on
- 48:31Speaker 2: the 10s pretty much every hour. Okay, so 9, 10,
- 48:33Speaker 2: we'll do it again. Hot take of the day. Let
- 48:35Speaker 2: me ask you this.
- 48:36Speaker 8: Okay.
- 48:37Speaker 2: Was life better before cell phones?
- 48:40Speaker 7: Oh, cell phones.
- 48:41Speaker 3: Okay.
- 48:41Speaker 2: You guessed internet.
- 48:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 48:43Speaker 2: Was life better before cell phones? And I saw people
- 48:46Speaker 2: online arguing about this, and I'm like, I'm wondering what
- 48:49Speaker 2: everybody feels. How do we feel about this, Candace?
- 48:51Speaker 7: Yeah, I think it was.
- 48:52Speaker 2: You do? Yeah.
- 48:54Speaker 9: Okay.
- 48:54Speaker 6: I mean, people didn't have access to me constantly. You know,
- 48:58Speaker 6: I'm a people pleaser, so when someone reaches out to me,
- 49:00Speaker 6: I feel like I have to respond immediately, and I
- 49:02Speaker 6: kind of panic about it.
- 49:04Speaker 2: Okay.
- 49:04Speaker 8: You know?
- 49:04Speaker 2: All right.
- 49:05Speaker 7: And we were more social.
- 49:06Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 49:07Speaker 7: Were we?
- 49:07Speaker 2: Yeah. It depends on what you consider social.
- 49:11Speaker 7: As kids? Like, in person.
- 49:15Speaker 2: Okay, we were more social in person. Yeah, I don't
- 49:17Speaker 2: know if I missed that.
- 49:19Speaker 5: Well.
- 49:20Speaker 2: I mean, we're one of the few generations that know
- 49:22Speaker 2: what it feels like to not have cell phones and
- 49:25Speaker 2: to live a life with cell phones. Cause our kids
- 49:28Speaker 2: will only know one way.
- 49:29Speaker 7: Totally.
- 49:29Speaker 6: And we're nostalgic about that time in our life in
- 49:32Speaker 6: the first place.
- 49:33Speaker 2: And sometimes nostalgia, you look back on it more appealing
- 49:36Speaker 2: than And fonder than it actually was. So I'm curious.
- 49:39Speaker 2: I'm going to say life was not better without phones. Okay.
- 49:44Speaker 2: But I'm going to say this. Life was better without smartphones.
- 49:47Speaker 7: Okay.
- 49:49Speaker 6: That's a good point because Friday we had grandparents or
- 49:52Speaker 6: last week we had grandparents lunch. So my parents were
- 49:54Speaker 6: going to take Enzo lunch at his school, right? Well,
- 49:58Speaker 6: McDonald's was taking forever.
- 49:59Speaker 7: And they were there way earlier.
- 50:01Speaker 6: So they were going to be late for his lunch.
- 50:03Speaker 7: And so I'm like, ah, panicking. You know, he's only
- 50:05Speaker 7: got 30 minutes to eat.
- 50:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:07Speaker 6: So he's going to show up to the cafeteria with
- 50:08Speaker 6: no food and no grandparents. So I got on my phone,
- 50:11Speaker 6: went on the parent app, was able to message his
- 50:14Speaker 6: teacher and text one of his others. And they were like,
- 50:16Speaker 6: he's all good.
- 50:17Speaker 1: OK, so if you didn't have a cell phone, you
- 50:21Speaker 1: can do that.
- 50:21Speaker 2: I'm going to say life was not better at all.
- 50:26Speaker 2: I'm going to argue this. So I'm going to say
- 50:27Speaker 2: if there was no cell phones, maybe your parents would
- 50:30Speaker 2: have been late. OK, how's that?
- 50:32Speaker 1: No.
- 50:32Speaker 2: And I say that because I mean, your parents are awesome,
- 50:34Speaker 2: first of all.
- 50:35Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Yeah, they are. But what I mean is they weren't late.
- 50:38Speaker 7: McDonald's was late.
- 50:39Speaker 2: OK, McDonald's is late. Well, then it wasn't their fault.
- 50:41Speaker 6: But you have a point because my dad ordered the
- 50:42Speaker 6: food on the app.
- 50:43Speaker 2: See, this is what I'm saying. What I'm saying is
- 50:46Speaker 2: cell phones and smartphones have ruined everything when it comes
- 50:49Speaker 2: to responsibility. Meaning like back in the day, for example,
- 50:52Speaker 2: if you had a date, you were like, hey, I'll
- 50:54Speaker 2: see you Friday at seven.
- 50:56Speaker 5: Right.
- 50:56Speaker 2: You didn't have an out. Yeah. So you were going
- 50:59Speaker 2: to be there at seven o'clock because that was when
- 51:02Speaker 2: you decided you were going to be there and you
- 51:04Speaker 2: had a responsibility and it felt greater. Now you can
- 51:06Speaker 2: be like, well, I'm just going to send a text, whatever.
- 51:09Speaker 7: Weasel out.
- 51:10Speaker 2: I'm going to weasel out of it. And you know what?
- 51:12Speaker 2: There's so many more options. We've just become so, I think,
- 51:16Speaker 2: whatever about time, attention, because you can get attention anywhere now. Yeah.
- 51:21Speaker 2: You can get attention somewhere else. I think it's ruined.
- 51:23Speaker 2: I think smartphones have ruined everything. love life's relationships. I
- 51:27Speaker 2: think it's ruined, you know, work life balance.
- 51:31Speaker 7: A hundred percent.
- 51:32Speaker 6: Our parents don't know what it was like to get
- 51:33Speaker 6: emails after they left work.
- 51:36Speaker 2: No, you feel like the need to never quit. So
- 51:38Speaker 2: I mean, you can make your case about why you
- 51:40Speaker 2: think it's better.
- 51:41Speaker 1: I mean, you don't think it's a good thing. What
- 51:42Speaker 1: if you really weren't feeling this chick? You can just
- 51:45Speaker 1: shoot her a text and be like, no, yeah, no,
- 51:47Speaker 1: it's not.
- 51:48Speaker 2: Why? Because at the end of the day, I would
- 51:51Speaker 2: rather have a conversation with someone as hard as it
- 51:53Speaker 2: may be. And go, you know it's true. You know
- 51:56Speaker 2: it sucks. But you know it's true. I would much rather.
- 52:00Speaker 2: First of all, no. That's you that's sitting there ghosting people.
- 52:03Speaker 2: I don't ghost, but I'm just saying. No.
- 52:07Speaker 1: So if I took away your phone right now, how
- 52:09Speaker 1: would you feel?
- 52:10Speaker 8: Fine.
- 52:11Speaker 7: But that's because we all have them and we all
- 52:12Speaker 7: know we have them.
- 52:13Speaker 2: That's the point.
- 52:14Speaker 7: We were way more present.
- 52:15Speaker 6: Like, think about the last time you were fully present,
- 52:18Speaker 6: not thinking about your phone. Like, if you don't have
- 52:20Speaker 6: your phone, you're thinking about what's going on on your phone.
- 52:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'm not talking about a world where one
- 52:24Speaker 2: person gets their cell phone taken away and everybody else
- 52:27Speaker 2: has one. I'm talking about a world where they all
- 52:29Speaker 2: go away for everyone.
- 52:30Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 52:31Speaker 2: So there's just not a smartphone.
- 52:32Speaker 7: And we don't have tech neck anymore.
- 52:34Speaker 6: Everybody's got tech neck just looking down.
- 52:37Speaker 7: At their phone.
- 52:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and I know there's a ton of benefits of
- 52:39Speaker 2: having a phone. Convenient. One thing.
- 52:42Speaker 1: It's convenient to order food on the app, to order
- 52:45Speaker 1: this ahead of time.
- 52:46Speaker 2: But also think about what that brings, how many problems
- 52:49Speaker 2: that bring to you.
- 52:51Speaker 3: Right.
- 52:51Speaker 2: You're not eating right because of the access. Let's be real.
- 52:57Speaker 2: It helps people in many ways who might not be
- 53:00Speaker 2: able to get food because they have maybe a disability
- 53:03Speaker 2: or something. They can order food and groceries to their house. Yeah,
- 53:06Speaker 2: there's benefits. But I'm saying overall, we should probably cook again.
- 53:10Speaker 7: No, we should.
- 53:11Speaker 6: But think about how fun it was back in the
- 53:12Speaker 6: day on Friday night.
- 53:13Speaker 7: Oh, we're going to order pizza. It was a fun,
- 53:16Speaker 7: exciting thing.
- 53:17Speaker 2: And now it's not special.
- 53:18Speaker 7: Door dash me a latte.
- 53:20Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 53:20Speaker 1: It's still special. I can pick up this phone and
- 53:23Speaker 1: be like, oh, I'm going to order Domino's.
- 53:25Speaker 2: No, but it's also.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Maybe I want Taco Bell and I can get it
- 53:28Speaker 1: to my house.
- 53:28Speaker 2: Think about the way it's ruined people's relationships and the
- 53:31Speaker 2: way it's ruined. I think dating meaning like this, meaning
- 53:35Speaker 2: people think the grass is always greener on the other side.
- 53:38Speaker 2: It's because there's dating apps, because there's Instagram, because there's
- 53:43Speaker 2: everything where people can get attention anywhere. So the attention that,
- 53:47Speaker 2: you know, maybe this woman gets from a man is
- 53:51Speaker 2: not that special because there's 500 other guys she can
- 53:54Speaker 2: get attention from and vice versa.
- 53:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 53:56Speaker 2: It's not just women. I get that. You know what
- 53:58Speaker 2: I mean? It's like attention is just it's whatever. It's
- 54:01Speaker 2: easy now. Yeah. Guess what? If you don't work out,
- 54:04Speaker 2: that's fine. There's 15 other people in my DMs.
- 54:08Speaker 10: Right.
- 54:08Speaker 2: I don't need you. So you don't explore and really
- 54:12Speaker 2: you don't really like go all in with someone and
- 54:15Speaker 2: really get to know that person and really, truly focus. Yeah,
- 54:19Speaker 2: because there's just distractions everywhere. I think it ruins kids imaginations.
- 54:24Speaker 7: Oh, yeah. One hundred percent.
- 54:25Speaker 2: Well, back in the day when we were kids, we
- 54:26Speaker 2: have a smartphone. No. Guess what I had to figure out?
- 54:29Speaker 2: I had a stick that looked like a gun, and
- 54:31Speaker 2: I played Army. Yeah, I get that with the kids,
- 54:34Speaker 2: but as adults, no. I need my phone. Well, now
- 54:37Speaker 2: it's too late because we're off the rock. I need
- 54:39Speaker 2: all of that.
- 54:39Speaker 7: Yeah, I think it was better.
- 54:40Speaker 2: All the apps, everything. I would say it's better, too.
- 54:43Speaker 2: I would say it's better without smartphones.
- 54:45Speaker 7: Oh, 100%. Smartphone, yeah.
- 54:47Speaker 2: And if everyone were to give up their cell phones
- 54:50Speaker 2: and just get— you know what? Bring back— the one phone I
- 54:52Speaker 2: would say bring it back right now is the flip phone.
- 54:56Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 54:56Speaker 2: Bring back the flip.
- 54:57Speaker 7: The Motorola Razr.
- 54:58Speaker 2: If I need to call you, I can call you.
- 55:01Speaker 5: Right.
- 55:01Speaker 2: But I'm not going to get bombarded with everything else
- 55:04Speaker 2: around me.
- 55:04Speaker 7: Notifications, social media.
- 55:06Speaker 2: Bring back pagers.
- 55:07Speaker 7: Oh, I love my pager.
- 55:08Speaker 1: Oh, I love my pager. My pager was, yeah, I
- 55:10Speaker 1: love my pager. Why'd you love your pager? Because it
- 55:12Speaker 1: was a gold pager. I thought I was, oh, man.
- 55:15Speaker 1: You couldn't tell me. Then I got a wood grain one.
- 55:17Speaker 2: Wood grain pager.
- 55:19Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 55:23Speaker 8: The new Mix 102.9.
- 55:25Speaker 2: We are getting ready. I can't believe it. The Corny
- 55:28Speaker 2: Dog Walk is happening Friday. That's when the fair kicks off.
- 55:31Speaker 2: It's Mix 102.9. Bill at a Kid, Candace Lopez, Producer Pooh.
- 55:35Speaker 2: Last year, this started off as kind of a little joke.
- 55:37Speaker 2: We were just going to... I was going to walk
- 55:38Speaker 2: to the State Fair of Texas in a corny dog
- 55:40Speaker 2: outfit for fun. Right. And it kind of blew up.
- 55:43Speaker 2: And now we're going to do it big this year.
- 55:45Speaker 2: And now we're even doing it to where we're getting
- 55:47Speaker 2: money for... The State Fair of Texas, which a lot
- 55:50Speaker 2: of people don't know, does incredible things and is one
- 55:52Speaker 2: of the biggest nonprofits in Texas.
- 55:55Speaker 9: Oh, yeah.
- 55:56Speaker 2: So the stuff they do to give back to the community, to,
- 56:00Speaker 2: you know, places in Dallas that have food insecurities. Yeah.
- 56:04Speaker 2: Food pantries. The vendors donate food. They raise money. They
- 56:08Speaker 2: do stuff for, you know, young, young farmers and people
- 56:13Speaker 2: who are into agriculture. And it's just it's pretty amazing.
- 56:15Speaker 7: Yeah, they need it.
- 56:16Speaker 2: So we're selling these t-shirts, the Corny Dog Walk t-shirts,
- 56:19Speaker 2: our first ever. Thank you to Lone Star Print. I'm
- 56:22Speaker 2: going to be honest, though. We need to sell some more.
- 56:24Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 56:24Speaker 2: Because right now, we're less than 100 shirts sold. We're
- 56:28Speaker 2: almost halfway there. Yeah. But I would love to do
- 56:31Speaker 2: the walk on Friday and cross the line once I
- 56:34Speaker 2: finally get there sweating, feeling all nasty and gross.
- 56:37Speaker 5: Yeah, right.
- 56:38Speaker 2: With a big check for the State Fair of Texas.
- 56:41Speaker 7: That'd be amazing.
- 56:41Speaker 2: And if you buy a shirt, that's what it's going
- 56:43Speaker 2: to do. It's going to benefit... The State Fair of Texas,
- 56:46Speaker 2: their nonprofits, we're not making any money off of it.
- 56:48Speaker 2: It's going to go to them. So if we could
- 56:50Speaker 2: sell 200 shirts, that would be so good. So can
- 56:53Speaker 2: we put the link up on the story real quick?
- 56:55Speaker 7: Yep, I'm working on that right now.
- 56:56Speaker 2: Okay, or if you want the link of the bio,
- 56:58Speaker 2: it's at Mix1029FM on Instagram, at Mix1029FM on Instagram. But
- 57:02Speaker 2: I figured, you know, what better way to talk about
- 57:05Speaker 2: the great stuff that the State Fair of Texas does
- 57:07Speaker 2: and the nonprofit work they do than get somebody on
- 57:09Speaker 2: the phone who's benefited from it. So Kacen McAfee's on
- 57:12Speaker 2: the phone, and she's in Caddo Mills. She's a young
- 57:16Speaker 2: future farmer of America.
- 57:17Speaker 7: There we go.
- 57:18Speaker 2: FFA, right? Yes, sir.
- 57:20Speaker 11: I've been blessed to be involved with 4-H and FFA
- 57:23Speaker 11: for the last eight years. And through that time, been
- 57:26Speaker 11: able to compete at the State Fair of Texas as
- 57:28Speaker 11: well as help in getting to educate about agriculture through
- 57:33Speaker 11: some of their different platforms.
- 57:34Speaker 2: Well, that is awesome. I grew up as a city boy,
- 57:37Speaker 2: so I really respect, Kacen, what you do because I
- 57:40Speaker 2: know nothing about it. I know nothing about what makes
- 57:43Speaker 2: a good sheep. What makes a show sheep a show sheep?
- 57:47Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 57:48Speaker 11: And so a lot of what me and other livestock
- 57:51Speaker 11: producers get to do is raise these animals from when
- 57:55Speaker 11: they're really little. And honestly, they become like best friends.
- 57:59Speaker 11: And then we're trying to develop muscle and other market qualities.
- 58:04Speaker 11: And the state fair gives us the opportunity to show
- 58:07Speaker 11: off our hard work at the end of the year.
- 58:11Speaker 11: And so it's really a great opportunity for students. It's
- 58:15Speaker 11: like in game for a basketball team. And so it's
- 58:20Speaker 11: a really amazing opportunity.
- 58:22Speaker 2: Yeah. The fair does incredible things and they allow you
- 58:25Speaker 2: to do stuff like this. And then set an example
- 58:28Speaker 2: for other people and they give out scholarships. Matter of fact,
- 58:30Speaker 2: did you get one of the scholarships?
- 58:32Speaker 11: So I'm actually a senior this year. So I'm just
- 58:35Speaker 11: now eligible to apply for the scholarships.
- 58:38Speaker 2: Good. Well, I hope you're going to.
- 58:39Speaker 3: Yes.
- 58:40Speaker 11: That's the plan.
- 58:43Speaker 2: Casey, now, what do you want to do? What is
- 58:44Speaker 2: your goal to do in life as far as a job?
- 58:47Speaker 2: But it sounds like what you do you love, so
- 58:49Speaker 2: it doesn't even feel like a job. Is this what
- 58:50Speaker 2: you want to continue to do?
- 58:51Speaker 11: Yes, sir, absolutely. So I'm planning to double major in
- 58:56Speaker 11: two different agriculture degrees, so animal science and agriculture economics.
- 59:01Speaker 11: And then from there, I hope to go into agriculture
- 59:05Speaker 11: policy and continuing to advocate for the livestock industry while
- 59:09Speaker 11: still being involved on the animal side and raising sheep
- 59:12Speaker 11: and goats.
- 59:13Speaker 2: I wasn't even close to as smart as you when
- 59:17Speaker 2: I was a senior in high school. So you're, You're
- 59:19Speaker 2: doing awesome. You're at Cattle Mills High School, right?
- 59:21Speaker 5: Yes, sir.
- 59:22Speaker 2: Now, what college do you want to go to?
- 59:24Speaker 11: I have applied and been accepted to Kansas State and
- 59:28Speaker 11: Texas A & M University.
- 59:30Speaker 2: Nice. Go pick the Aggies. Come on, you've got to
- 59:32Speaker 2: stay in Texas. Yeah, you've got to giggle, Maggie. Come on, Kaysen.
- 59:36Speaker 2: Either way, they're great schools. And wow, what an impressive young.
- 59:41Speaker 2: Do we call you a farmer? Is that what we
- 59:43Speaker 2: call you?
- 59:44Speaker 11: That would work.
- 59:46Speaker 9: OK.
- 59:46Speaker 2: What an impressive young farmer. I don't know if I've
- 59:48Speaker 2: ever said that in my life. Well, hopefully we'll get
- 59:51Speaker 2: to meet you out there. We also wanted to see
- 59:54Speaker 2: if you could judge because we have a competition on
- 59:56Speaker 2: the show of who. Who makes the best goat sound?
- 59:59Speaker 2: I love goats. Right. Candice loves goats. Can you tell
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: us who has the best realistic goat sound on the show?
- 1:00:08Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: Okay. Who wants to go first?
- 1:00:10Speaker 7: I'll go first.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: Okay. Candice, go ahead. Okay. That's Candice. Oh. Okay. Wow.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: And then I'll go. Here we go.
- 1:00:22Speaker 8: Okay.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: No pressure, but who's do you pick?
- 1:00:32Speaker 11: I honestly think Candace was so good.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: All right, Kacen, that's fair. Thanks, girl. It was pretty good. Well,
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: thank you, and good luck with everything. I know your
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: parents are very proud of you, and the State Fair
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: of Texas is as well, and can't wait to see
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: you there. And good luck on your scholarship, and I
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: hope you get it and have a great time at
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: the fair.
- 1:00:52Speaker 11: Yeah. Thank you so much.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: What a smart young woman. Right? I love that. Impressive.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: All right, at Mix 1029 FM on Instagram. If you
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: want to buy a shirt, the link is in the bio.
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: Do it and support the family.
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: It's Texas Top Stories on the 10s with Billy the
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: Kid in the Morning.
- 1:01:06Speaker 8: Only on the new Mix 102.9.
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: State Fair Texas season pass coming up next. Make sure
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: you get on that iHeartRadio app if you want to win.
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: Candace Lopez, what is going on?
- 1:01:16Speaker 7: Well, I can't help but laugh at this.
- 1:01:17Speaker 6: We officially broke our dry streak yesterday with the storms
- 1:01:20Speaker 6: that came through.
- 1:01:21Speaker 7: The official rainfall total was a tenth of an inch.
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: Oh, my. Come on. I know.
- 1:01:26Speaker 8: Why?
- 1:01:26Speaker 6: At the spot where they collect it to make the official,
- 1:01:29Speaker 6: you know, collection of the rain.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: One-tenth of an inch. Yeah. That's like all I got
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: at my house, and I'm close to the airport. I'm like,
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: that's not breaking the street. That shouldn't count.
- 1:01:40Speaker 7: No, it really should.
- 1:01:40Speaker 6: But this summer, the driest summer officially on record. No
- 1:01:44Speaker 6: rain for 67 consecutive days.
- 1:01:46Speaker 7: We're hot again today.
- 1:01:47Speaker 8: Stupid.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: Stupid.
- 1:01:50Speaker 6: Guys, a company called Flytrex just launched a new drone
- 1:01:53Speaker 6: system across DFW, and it is flying your.
- 1:01:56Speaker 7: Food to you.
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: I love this.
- 1:01:57Speaker 6: So the drones land on the roofs of restaurants. They'll
- 1:02:00Speaker 6: wait for your order and then fly your food straight
- 1:02:02Speaker 6: to you. This company says this will cut delivery costs 60%
- 1:02:06Speaker 6: and cut wait times in half. Uh, there are some
- 1:02:09Speaker 6: restaurants already using it, but they have over a hundred
- 1:02:12Speaker 6: locations getting installed right now. I love it, but I
- 1:02:15Speaker 6: feel bad for the people that are making money delivering food.
- 1:02:18Speaker 4: Well, yeah.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: I mean, I want them to still, not everybody's going
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: to use this, so we're good, but I used it yesterday.
- 1:02:24Speaker 7: The drone system?
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:02:25Speaker 4: No.
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: Yeah. What'd you get? I had a Mambo taxi dropped
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: directly into my mouth. While you were in the pool? Oh, God.
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: Splash right in my mouth. Imagine that, though. You're sitting
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: in your backyard. All of a sudden, a mobbo taxi
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: is being lowered to you.
- 1:02:43Speaker 7: I mean, can they do that?
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: Why not?
- 1:02:46Speaker 7: Okay.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: I'll take four more, please. Drone's going to run out
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: of damn battery.
- 1:02:51Speaker 7: This is bad news. Real quick, guys.
- 1:02:54Speaker 6: Channing Tatum is speaking out about that fake Instagram account
- 1:02:57Speaker 6: that went viral yesterday. We were talking about this account
- 1:03:00Speaker 6: called NunyaBidness.com. It was going viral because it was trolling
- 1:03:04Speaker 6: his exes.
- 1:03:05Speaker 7: And while it.
- 1:03:06Speaker 6: Was active, it showed him as the only follower to
- 1:03:08Speaker 6: this account. Well, he posted saying, I truly can't believe
- 1:03:11Speaker 6: y'all think this is what I'm doing with my free time.
- 1:03:14Speaker 6: Why would I follow a burner account if I didn't want.
- 1:03:16Speaker 7: People to connect me to that?
- 1:03:18Speaker 6: But it sounds like this was at one point a
- 1:03:20Speaker 6: fan account that eventually.
- 1:03:22Speaker 7: Evolved into this trolling thing.
- 1:03:25Speaker 6: Which is why he had followed it, but then they
- 1:03:27Speaker 6: just deleted the rest of the followers and made it
- 1:03:29Speaker 6: look like, you know, Channing was their one follower.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: You don't have time for all that.
- 1:03:32Speaker 8: No.
- 1:03:32Speaker 7: Come on, get over yourself.
- 1:03:33Speaker 6: It's just wild how people can manipulate these profiles.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: Yeah, well, it's just, like I said, let's just go
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: back to flip phones and get rid of smartphones and
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: social media.
- 1:03:42Speaker 7: No, I agree. I'd do it in a heartbeat if
- 1:03:44Speaker 7: I could.
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: We all need a cleanse.
- 1:03:45Speaker 7: We do.
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: Just get rid of it for all of us at
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: once because we can't. Some have it and some can't.
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:03:51Speaker 7: No, that'll never work.
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: We all get rid of it for two years and
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: see how we feel. Whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 1:03:55Speaker 7: I mean, we could start with two days.
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: Yeah, two years? That's a stretch. A year. I could
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: get rid of it. If everyone else did, I could
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: get rid of social media for a year. I'd do it.
- 1:04:03Speaker 7: Oh, immediately.
- 1:04:04Speaker 8: Okay.
- 1:04:04Speaker 7: All right.
- 1:04:04Speaker 6: I'm Candace Lopez. Those are your Texas Top Stories. It's
- 1:04:08Speaker 6: Dirty Little Secret with Billy the Kid in the Morning
- 1:04:11Speaker 6: on Mix 102.9.
- 1:04:12Speaker 8: Brought to you by Mint Dentistry.
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: All right. What is your confession? What is your secret? 833-787-1029.
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: Doesn't matter what it is. Bring it on. We do
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: Dirty Little Secrets, 730 and 930. You have one. So
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: what's going on?
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: Yeah. So if I'm being honest, this could completely destroy
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: my relationship with my sister if she ever found out.
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: I anonymously reported her and her husband to CPS. And honestly,
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: I don't regret it at all.
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: Whoa. To CPS, to Child Protective Services. Your sister?
- 1:04:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: Why?
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: So they have two young kids, six and eight. And
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: for years, they've been very open about the fact that
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: they use a belt to discipline them. And I mean,
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: I'm not talking about something that I've just heard about either.
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: I've like.
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: actually seen the aftermath. And these kids come over to
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: my house and I've seen the marks and welts on
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: the backs of their legs more times than I can count. Yes,
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: I'll be the first person to admit that their kids
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: can be like bad, bad. Like they're wild. They don't listen.
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: They're constantly getting into something. But I mean, they're six
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: and they're eight.
- 1:05:25Speaker 8: Right. Yeah.
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: So a couple of weeks ago, we were at their
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: house and one of the kids got into trouble. And
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: my brother-in-law made another comment about how he is going
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: to whip them into shape. And I just, I don't know,
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: something in me snapped and me and my sister got
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: into an argument about it. And she told me that
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: they're her kids and this is how they discipline them
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: and I need to stay out of it. So I
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: just left, you know, but the entire drive home, I'm
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: thinking like, what if staying out of it makes me
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: part of the problem?
- 1:06:00Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: Okay. So you decided to do something about it and, um, Now,
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: were you and your sister, were you, like, I know
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: some people spank, some people don't. Belt is a little
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: bit different than, were you both, were you raised like
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: this where you would get, you know, quote, whipped into shape?
- 1:06:16Speaker 9: No.
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: No?
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: No. My sister and I were not raised like this.
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: Our parents did not beat us with belts, you know, like. Yeah.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: this totally comes from her husband. That's how he grew up.
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: He's very old school. He'll say things like my dad
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: whipped me and I turned out fine or kids today
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: need more of this and stuff, you know?
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:06:37Speaker 10: I'm sorry.
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: Yeah, no. But when you're hitting a child hard enough
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: with a belt that they're like regularly showing up with
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: marks and welts, that's, Beyond anything that I.
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: Possibly, you know, so you call CPS anonymously, of course.
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: What do you tell them?
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: Well, I didn't give them my name. I just told
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: them that I've personally seen like these welts and things
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: and I let them decide, you know, what needs to
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: happen next. I don't want their children, like, taken away
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: from them. That's not my goal at all. You know,
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: I love my sister. I love them, and I know
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: she loves her kids. I'm hoping somebody showing up and, like,
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: asking questions makes them start taking this more seriously.
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: So that's what you want them to do. You want
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: it to scare her a little bit. Okay.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: It's just not that simple. They're going to show up,
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: and they're going to— They file a report. Well, these
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: kids could get taken.
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: Away like that. I don't think they're going to be
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: taken away right away. Not right away. But I mean,
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: they're under under the radar. You know what I mean?
- 1:07:43Speaker 7: They should be.
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: I mean, and I get it.
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: But like, I think you let your temper get get
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: the best of you should have at least had a
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: conversation with your sister.
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: She tried to. Yeah.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: But I mean, both of them are heated. You don't
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: just sneak off and call it.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: CPS is serious. Well, so is leaving belt whips. I mean,
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: I'm not going to. You're old school, though. Who thinks
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: it's fine? I'm old school like, you know, your brother-in-law.
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: I got whooped. I got whooped by my mom, my dad.
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: To the point where it was leaving marks and welts?
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: I mean, no. Welts? Not welts. Consistently? I didn't swept up.
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: I think one of my— When my grandma whooped me
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: with a switch, I did have a little welt, but
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: that was just because it was a big old switch.
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: I don't know what the law is, but I think
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: if I remember, we looked into this one time. I
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: think the law was basically if you are— you can do
- 1:08:30Speaker 2: this kind of— it' s not illegal to use a belt.
- 1:08:32Speaker 7: I mean, that's basically a weapon.
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: But if you're using it and it's leaving injuries to
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: a child, I think that's where it becomes a major problem.
- 1:08:38Speaker 7: If this happened at school, it'd be an issue.
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: I mean, but there's still schools— If you did.
- 1:08:41Speaker 7: This to an adult, this would be an issue.
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: There's still schools that— That use belts? Not belts. No.
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: They have paddles.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: There's still schools out there that have corporal punishment. Like
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: outside of Houston, I know. I remember I looked it up.
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: Find one.
- 1:08:53Speaker 7: Like recently?
- 1:08:55Speaker 2: I looked it up a while back. No way. I'm
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: telling you. I don't think so. But anyway, so you
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: call them. You say you don't feel bad about it.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure it was a tough decision. Does
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: anything happen yet or not yet?
- 1:09:06Speaker 10: So my sister just recently reached out to me and
- 1:09:11Speaker 10: said that somebody reported them.
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: And she's obviously furious about it. And she's trying to
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: figure out who did it. Um, I'm just like sitting
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: there listening to her talk about what a horrible person
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: would do this to her family. And I'm like knowing
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: the entire time that it was me.
- 1:09:27Speaker 7: You know, you're brave. You're very brave.
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: I trust that you made a decision after seeing the
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: kids consistently with injuries on them. Right. And, and trying
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: to talk to him afterwards. I can't blame you for
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: doing something about it. I can't.
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: I'm not saying you can't spank your kids. I'm not
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: saying that either. But you shouldn't leave injuries to the
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: kids consistently. Okay, that, yeah, I agree with that.
- 1:09:52Speaker 10: She's my sister.
- 1:09:53Speaker 3: I love her. But they're also my niece and nephew,
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: and I love them too. Yeah. I don't know. I
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: did what I did because I felt like somebody had
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: to stand up for those kids. And I don't think
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: they were going to change unless I, like.
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: I don't like the vibe of the guy.
- 1:10:09Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: I don't know. I automatically just go, he's influencing her
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: to do things that she doesn't seem comfortable with, but
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: maybe I'm wrong. I don't know.
- 1:10:18Speaker 7: She's going to stand by her husband, though. At some point,
- 1:10:21Speaker 7: stand by your kids.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: Either way, I know we're going to get calls about this,
- 1:10:26Speaker 2: and I'm good. I want people to call in and
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: let me know what you think, whether you did the
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: right thing or not. You followed your gut instinct, and
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: I don't think usually with women, your intuition is spot on.
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: So let us know what happens.
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: Thank you for saying that.
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: Yeah, of course.
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you.
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: Good luck with everything.
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: Thank you, guys. I appreciate it.
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: I mean, she knows. You know, I feel like she
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: knows what's best in that situation. I didn't see the welts.
- 1:10:49Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: If we were to see that and see it consistently,
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: that's where it gets weird to me.
- 1:10:53Speaker 7: Exactly.
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: You know, the belt is one thing, but you're using
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: it consistently to the point you're leaving it. A lot
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: of welts.
- 1:10:59Speaker 7: This is how we discipline?
- 1:11:01Speaker 2: Yeah. Repeatedly? It's not the way I personally do it.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: I'm not against using, you know, spankings and whatnot, but just,
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: I don't know. She knows.
- 1:11:11Speaker 7: She knows.
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: Something's not right. Yeah, we'll find out what happens. We're
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: about to get out of here. It's Mix 102.9, Ability Kid,
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: Candice Lopez, Producer Pooh. We'll see you tomorrow. We'll have
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: a dirty little secret at 7.30. All that good stuff.
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: It's the first day of fall. Candice Lopez, how are
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: you going to celebrate?
- 1:11:26Speaker 6: I mean, that's a good question. Probably by sweating like
- 1:11:29Speaker 6: everyone else.
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: Yeah, let's sweat for the first day of fall.
- 1:11:32Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: High in 95. Can't wait. Yeah. Can you get an
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: iced PSL?
- 1:11:38Speaker 7: Yes.
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: Remember?
- 1:11:39Speaker 7: That's what I door dashed you.
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:11:41Speaker 7: Last year.
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: You didn't tell me, and then it melted on my porch.
- 1:11:44Speaker 6: I was stupid thinking I could surprise you with a latte.
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: You know Billy got to have all the details before
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: you send him something.
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: I don't like surprises. I don't like fun.
- 1:11:53Speaker 7: I know. I've noticed.
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 1:11:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: I just don't want fun. Don't want fun surprises. I
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: like to just tell me.
- 1:11:59Speaker 7: Like a PSL on your doorstep?
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: Yeah. He don't check the mail. He don't check his door. No,
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: I do check my mail lately because my mail lady
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: yelled at me. She came to my door and knocked.
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: She's like, you've got to check your mail. It's full.
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: It's overflowing. I said, I'm so sorry. And I felt bad,
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: and I gave her a gift card.
- 1:12:14Speaker 7: The mail is a surprise every day, and you hate it.
- 1:12:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: It's always a bad surprise. You owe money. You have
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: a bill. If I see bills turn red, I pay them.
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:12:24Speaker 7: Well, good.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: Because that's how you know they're going to get cut off.
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: I learned that the hard way. Yeah, bills are like
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: the stoplight. Green, yellow, and then red. You got to
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: pay to pay. I've learned quickly when TXU turns pink,
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: pay it. Yeah.
- 1:12:39Speaker 7: Correct.
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: That's how I operate.
- 1:12:41Speaker 7: Check your mail. You might have a good surprise.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: You never know. Can you imagine if you handled my
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: personal life, how terrified you'd be, like anxiety-ridden you would be?
- 1:12:50Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Candace is the kind of person that pre-pays
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: her bills. Oh, yeah. I'm just going to go ahead and,
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: you know, I know I'm going to use this much electricity.
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: I've calculated it perfectly. All the kilowatts?
- 1:12:59Speaker 8: Oh, yeah.
- 1:12:59Speaker 7: We're good until April.
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: Are you serious? For sure, yeah. I'm still paying from
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: last April. We'll see you tomorrow.
- 1:13:07Speaker 10: Bye.
- 1:13:07Speaker 8: Bye.
