- 0:34Speaker 2: Who's to blame?
- 0:36Speaker 2: What's to look forward to in the rest of the season, if anything Everyone.
- 0:42Speaker 2: That's what our Football Monday really will start out, as We'll talk about the NFL a little bit, touch on it and some other college football action.
- 0:56Speaker 2: But I want to harp on the Knowles real quick while I got Jim Arino here.
- 1:02Speaker 2: How bad can it get Worse?
- 1:06Speaker 2: It's going it get Worse.
- 1:09Speaker 2: It's going to get worse.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Yeah, recruiting.
- 1:15Speaker 1: I wouldn't, I don't, I'm not, I would not pay attention to recruiting at all.
- 1:24Speaker 1: That's just twisting the knife.
- 1:27Speaker 1: There's no reason to.
- 1:29Speaker 1: It's going to be bad Top to bottom.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Everything.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Try to think of optimistic.
- 1:38Speaker 2: No, there is no optimism.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Not for this season, though.
- 1:42Speaker 1: No.
- 1:46Speaker 2: So what do they do?
- 1:48Speaker 2: What do you do?
- 1:49Speaker 2: Do you just keep banging your head against that wall with the players, or do you make a change when you play the young guys?
- 2:01Speaker 1: I mean you could.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I mean you've got a full youth movement already in the season.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I mean you could.
- 2:05Speaker 1: He mean you've got a full youth movement already in the season.
- 2:06Speaker 1: I mean you could.
- 2:07Speaker 1: He's not going to because it's only game four, but I mean eventually that's going to be what you do I cleaned up in the bets man.
- 2:18Speaker 2: The bright side is I've been making good money gambling on NFL and college NFL.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Surprisingly, that would usually even out.
- 2:29Speaker 2: But how about the Vikings?
- 2:30Speaker 2: 2-0.
- 2:32Speaker 2: They got the win over the Niners.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Sam Darnold looks good.
- 2:37Speaker 2: He's still young too.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, steelers are 2-0.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Ravens are only0.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Ravens are 0-2.
- 2:47Speaker 2: The Ravens and the Bengals are 0-2.
- 2:50Speaker 2: The Bengals lose right at the end.
- 2:52Speaker 2: The Chiefs are two plays away from being 0-2, but they're undefeated.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Nfl crazy.
- 3:00Speaker 2: But I want to talk about Florida State state.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Yes, we have to yeah, just for, just to get it out of the way, right, you know um, they're really, really bad.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Uh, you might have some good football players on the team, but it's just a bunch of guys putting on the same uniform well, let's go to the defense.
- 3:28Speaker 2: The defense played better than they have showed previously yeah, they.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Yeah, there were better aspects of it, but yeah still um, you know critical they're putting in some, they're putting some bad spots.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Yeah, some things happened where they had to defend on a short field quick turnaround type of stuff.
- 3:48Speaker 1: They didn't completely fall apart.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Like the offense has fallen off a cliff.
- 3:54Speaker 2: It's a, I mean, it's just terrible.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Right, Well it's really, all it was was Jordan Travis.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean a huge part of it.
- 4:05Speaker 2: And the receivers that they had and the running back that they had, you know, because Benson was very, you know, capable of making people miss.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Yeah, you had.
- 4:16Speaker 1: You had guys that had a special skill set in the backfield that could get away from immediate pressure, and you know that that that put there's just bad timing, man.
- 4:28Speaker 2: It's just like everything.
- 4:29Speaker 2: You get that fumble by roydell williams, you know it's just pop.
- 4:32Speaker 2: The guy puts his helmet right on it.
- 4:35Speaker 2: I mean, oh, and it's just downhill the whole game.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Yeah, he did have the one deep pass to Malik Benson.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Right, and you know, that was, I guess, the best play for the offense.
- 4:53Speaker 2: And even then, even that you know, he underthrew him, it's that kind of stuff.
- 4:58Speaker 1: It's just not a good football team.
- 5:00Speaker 1: No.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Individual talent in some spots, but it doesn't really factor into the team winning football games it's got to.
- 5:10Speaker 2: It's got to change right well, it's got to be somebody this year man it, it's just not gonna happen.
- 5:17Speaker 1: You can.
- 5:17Speaker 1: You know, there's so many different reasons why and on different levels.
- 5:22Speaker 1: You know, some areas it's talent, some areas it's guys that have just completely checked out what's different about this?
- 5:28Speaker 2: oh and three start compared to the oh and three start in 2021 um well, you haven't lost to an fcs team.
- 5:39Speaker 2: There's that all right, positive, but what, what's different, what's?
- 5:44Speaker 2: You had guys on that team that were right, you had time and you've, you've.
- 5:51Speaker 1: You know you lost to notre dame, but you, you fought.
- 5:53Speaker 1: There were times where you were in it and competitive yeah and even like doing good things, you were hungry, you were on the up, you know, coming off of crap.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Jackson state, um jackson On the up, you know.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Coming off of crap.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Jackson State, jacksonville State.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Right, like that would have fit right in with this season.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Well, yeah, if we play, if I'm not, I don't know who they're going to beat.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Nah, you know, I mean if you lose to Charleston Southern, which is a bad FCS team.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Screw that, man.
- 6:24Speaker 2: You got Cal on the schedule.
- 6:25Speaker 2: I mean, you're paying these damn players, man, it's about time they step the hell up, and I'm about tired of it, I mean these guys are making a lot of money to play football and and they're not, and they're some of them they're quitting on plays, man.
- 6:39Speaker 2: They're just putting in one move and then they're not hustling to the ball right.
- 6:45Speaker 2: There's a lot there's not buy-in on, you know, on critical downs, yeah, there's not, you know, because the you got to come back in football.
- 6:54Speaker 2: There's going to be negative plays and there's too much of the.
- 6:57Speaker 2: There's too much of hero ball.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I don't know if you're not assignment football.
- 7:02Speaker 2: They're not just doing their job, just do your job.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it, you know it.
- 7:09Speaker 1: It's uh, it's a lot like it was must champ those first two years.
- 7:13Speaker 2: I mean, how much would it be?
- 7:15Speaker 2: Is he still with georgia, or did he step down?
- 7:17Speaker 2: No, he's still there.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Yeah jeez?
- 7:20Speaker 1: no, you're not I mean no changes like I will say this man, you know you go like 1 and 11 means you're gonna lose to florida.
- 7:27Speaker 1: If he loses to another interim head coach at florida, like he did in 21, well, that's another, that's I think that's something that comes to fire really expedite the process of him getting shit which is up here.
- 7:43Speaker 2: It's actually who's in a worse situation right now.
- 7:48Speaker 1: We are.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Yeah, because of the financial reasons, right.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I mean they owe Napier $14 million if they fire him Like we owe.
- 7:58Speaker 1: You know when you're locked into a coach and you're not sure about the coach you're in a way, worse situation.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Right, I don't know man, there's a bunch of whatever they did or didn't do.
- 8:15Speaker 2: I'd like to see a quarterback that Mike Norvell recruited play and be like hey man, where's your guy?
- 8:23Speaker 2: Because he took Jordanvis the whole time.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Now he's just taking dj ui and he hadn't done shit to him.
- 8:30Speaker 2: So let's, let's, let's see who you recruit and who you develop, or does he you know, or were you lacking that?
- 8:42Speaker 1: I don't think you're going to see it anytime soon, barring DJ getting hurt.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Why is that?
- 8:49Speaker 1: My personal belief is it's a mix of Brock.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Glenn is not going to be considerably better and also he understands that this offensive line is.
- 9:02Speaker 1: You know, look at it.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Yeah, so this is a cautionary, he's being I mean, what is he going to do as he stands right now, his job security, like they're not firing him.
- 9:20Speaker 1: You know you can go 0-12 and create a huge, just uncomfortable scenario for himself everywhere, but they're still not going to fire him.
- 9:30Speaker 1: They don't have that kind of money.
- 9:32Speaker 1: You know nobody's going to tell him you know when to put the qb in and to speed it.
- 9:37Speaker 1: He is just.
- 9:39Speaker 2: You know and we're right back seasons and it's like another lost season.
- 9:45Speaker 2: We're, we're right back.
- 9:46Speaker 2: It's like another lost season.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Here we are again with another head coach that's going to dig his heels in and just stick to what he does.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Well, I mean, what frightens me is that it would get way worse.
- 9:59Speaker 2: I mean, it can't really get worse.
- 10:01Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 10:04Speaker 2: You have young guys that have been here longer than DJ that are going to be here next year.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Dj's not going to be here next year.
- 10:10Speaker 2: So what are we doing?
- 10:11Speaker 2: Like at some point you got to pull the damn plug, and I know the money thing and what you promised and all this, but I mean you have to do what's best for the program.
- 10:23Speaker 2: At the end of the day, that's what you're hired to do.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Yeah, and you can't let others, which is why you got to make tough decisions, which is why I think there's an admit when you were wrong.
- 10:33Speaker 1: There's a little bit of like dude, I can put Brock Glenn in and it's not going to be any better.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Well then, that's, you know.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Like he's not going to make the offensive line block, that's true or make the receivers magically be able to get open.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Right, Right, you just got to.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Your team just isn't good.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Like the team just isn't good.
- 10:53Speaker 1: That's the bottom line.
- 10:55Speaker 1: They did a piss poor job of building the roster for this season.
- 11:00Speaker 1: You know.
- 11:02Speaker 1: To understand why it got this bad, you'd have to know the reasons and the moves behind their their roster they.
- 11:09Speaker 2: they struck it on the the transfer portal and they finally got the right match with a good quarterback and they got some nfl talent on that roster to go with a few guys that were playing their best, but it was real thin at linebacker and wide receiver.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:32Speaker 2: It was thin, and it was thin at quarterback and it held together, which is now you're seeing a poorest offensive line.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Well, yeah, so what do you turn, alex?
- 11:44Speaker 2: Atkins.
- 11:44Speaker 2: What are we doing there?
- 11:45Speaker 2: Is it the recruiting line?
- 11:47Speaker 2: Well, yeah, so what do you turn?
- 11:48Speaker 2: Alex dackins, like what?
- 11:48Speaker 1: are we doing there?
- 11:49Speaker 1: Well, are we?
- 11:49Speaker 1: Is it recruiting or is it go back to the 2020 and the 2021 classes and that's who would be the upperclassman right now?
- 11:53Speaker 1: And you can pick out maybe six guys from those two classes that are still on the team.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Um, like and I'm talking about kids out of high school you know now, you did a really good job those two years in the transfer portal, bringing kids like Jerry and Jones, fabian Lovett you know all of those guys in 2020 and 2021.
- 12:15Speaker 1: And then adding to that again with Vers and Benson and Johnny.
- 12:18Speaker 1: You know all of that.
- 12:19Speaker 1: You did a really good job for about three and a half years.
- 12:24Speaker 1: You know you put the final few pieces on it with Fisk and Coleman and Bell and right.
- 12:29Speaker 1: But you know, at some point you had to know, like, even if you go and win the national title last season, like all those guys are still leaving, right, nothing, it's just, and you didn't get right yeah, so you know it's.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Uh, they didn't really go back and backfill any of the depth in those two classes.
- 12:49Speaker 1: You know all the players that transferred out from all of those classes.
- 12:54Speaker 1: They weren't necessarily replaced by guys with the same eligibility, the same.
- 13:00Speaker 1: You know, right, it's a turnover.
- 13:01Speaker 2: It just shows you that you're not even used to it.
- 13:04Speaker 2: But this is what the new era of college football is.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Unless you're a few teams that are going to go out and spend $20 million.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Well, not even that.
- 13:13Speaker 2: The problem is that they Better spend it right.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Yeah, they kind of fell asleep at the wheel with what they were going to do in the transfer portal.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Yeah, like I said, retaining players in all your roster yeah, it works, and it's two thumbs up when all of those players are NFL talent.
- 13:31Speaker 1: But, when you're not littered with NFL prospects.
- 13:36Speaker 1: You've got to do serious roster evaluation because some of these guys who've been here for four years they may need to leave, and some of them did that shouldn't have you know like letting.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Greedy Vance walk.
- 13:49Speaker 1: And turning to Kevin Knowles and Earl Little Jr as your nickel corner, like that.
- 13:55Speaker 2: It just doesn't make any sense.
- 13:57Speaker 1: You're taking a guy that was there on the field on a defense If they approach it from just a financial standpoint, then it may have made more sense to them.
- 14:07Speaker 1: On a defense If they approach it from just a financial standpoint, then it may have made more sense to them, but if you look at it as if that guy would have been on the field on.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Saturday, then Memphis probably doesn't score either touchdown.
- 14:18Speaker 2: That needs to be the first thing.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Money needs to be brought to the right player first.
- 14:22Speaker 2: You can't have it the other way around.
- 14:24Speaker 2: We can't start making financial decisions on the roster if that's happening.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Oh oh it's, I mean, it's definitely happening.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Well, that needs to stop right, you have to have better.
- 14:36Speaker 1: It comes down to evaluation and who you know I?
- 14:40Speaker 2: I don't know, man I that's not good, because I could you know you?
- 14:43Speaker 1: it's not good?
- 14:44Speaker 1: No, it's not, and, like you, brought up the offensive line and you're right.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Look at the running back for BC, yeah, Treshawn Ward.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Yeah, Treshawn Ward.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Right, you know you let a guy like him leave.
- 14:55Speaker 1: He would have been a senior this year.
- 14:56Speaker 1: That would have been your guy, your workhorse.
- 14:59Speaker 2: But you know it's just a chemistry thing.
- 15:03Speaker 2: You know you mess with the gel and of the team.
- 15:06Speaker 2: You know you never well I mean, this is a pro atmosphere.
- 15:09Speaker 2: So now you're going to be ridiculed and you got to hit better and you got to scout better right, you got to do better at the quarterback spot than he's, then he's done.
- 15:18Speaker 2: I mean well he hasn't done anything that we've seen, because Jordan Travis was not his recruit.
- 15:27Speaker 1: No.
- 15:28Speaker 2: I mean, he did great job with Jordan Travis.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Right, I mean he wasn't his recruit, but you know Kendall Bryles was going to turn Jordan Travis into a receiver, like when Mike.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Morvello got here that was the plan for him.
- 15:41Speaker 2: I know that's why I'm anxious to see these next guys but that's also, and I think the fan base is going to be booing and there's going to be chance coming up Saturday.
- 15:57Speaker 1: You can't think that you can't expect every quarterback you sign and recruit to have the kind of stuff that between the ears that Jordan Travis has and all the really, really good quarterbacks that just make.
- 16:07Speaker 1: What you have to do is you have to focus on surrounding the quarterback position with as much talent and stability as you can.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Right, and that was not.
- 16:16Speaker 1: That hasn't been done at offensive line, I don't.
- 16:19Speaker 1: You know, I don't care what anybody tries to spin.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Yeah, when you have no, you can see it when you have to play a guy like Darius Washington.
- 16:29Speaker 1: He didn't play.
- 16:29Speaker 1: On Saturday you were down both your starting tackles.
- 16:32Speaker 1: That was huge.
- 16:33Speaker 1: We couldn't block on the perimeter.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Darius Washington isn't a guy that should be playing tackle anyway.
- 16:38Speaker 1: He's probably your best interior offensive lineman.
- 16:41Speaker 1: If you had him and Richie Leonard starting on the interior, you wouldn't have things like Ferguson trying to pull the the wrong way on a screen pass and shit like that.
- 16:53Speaker 1: But you don't have any guys that can play on the edge.
- 16:54Speaker 1: You don't.
- 16:54Speaker 1: And it's the fifth year we've been here with with Atkins, with well he'll be able to finally be there on the sideline.
- 17:01Speaker 1: We'll see we'll see if it makes a difference.
- 17:03Speaker 2: I mean it has to and you have to do better.
- 17:06Speaker 2: You better, I mean let's see it if, if it doesn't, if it's clean house I'll tell you what they can't fire norvell, but he's gonna have to make a bunch of changes if it continues down this road well, if you don't, if you're norvell, you don't make any changes, then it again.
- 17:21Speaker 1: It's like, you know, it's the same thing as going 0-12 all over again.
- 17:25Speaker 1: It's telling everyone that like no, that's all right, I'm good with that, we'll just run it back next year.
- 17:30Speaker 1: And you know, whatever, that's one way that I could see that we magically raised that money to get him out of here.
- 17:44Speaker 2: But again like.
- 17:44Speaker 1: I don't see any way that he finishes this season the way I think it's going to finish, and keeps some of these guys around.
- 17:52Speaker 1: It's time for them to go.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Because I mean once.
- 17:57Speaker 2: I guess once you're mathematically eliminated you know, from bowl eligibility.
- 18:02Speaker 2: I guess would be the final card.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Right.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Then what you know like.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Then what are you doing?
- 18:09Speaker 2: I mean until then?
- 18:13Speaker 1: you want to fight for something.
- 18:15Speaker 1: That's the thing.
- 18:15Speaker 1: I mean the way the media covers it, the sensationalism of everything.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Like you think no, there's no way they're going to fire him.
- 18:23Speaker 1: But then with each loss it becomes more and more like dude this expectation was way off.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't think it was going to be as bad as it is, but I knew it wasn't going to be as good as people thought it was, and nobody thought it was going to be this bad.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Well it you know, the QB thing with DJ was a giant miscalculation.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Oh, yeah and that and I yeah, it was, and I and I bought in Right or just wanted.
- 18:50Speaker 2: I gave him the benefit of the doubt because of what he did with Jordan Travis Right and maybe that's what he.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Maybe he fell into that himself.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Maybe he thought, oh, I did it with JT, yeah.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe he thought oh, I did it with JT, yeah, yeah, I can do it with DJ.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Maybe, maybe, I don't.
- 19:09Speaker 1: Maybe he was also fooled to thinking he was.
- 19:12Speaker 1: He had a better offensive line because you couldn't ask for a worse QB to come and play behind this offensive line.
- 19:19Speaker 1: You know this is a guy that is almost immobile and he has no pocket awareness.
- 19:24Speaker 1: It looks so bad he has no pocket awareness.
- 19:26Speaker 1: It looks so bad.
- 19:26Speaker 1: He has no pocket awareness.
- 19:27Speaker 1: You know that interception.
- 19:29Speaker 1: He got away from pressure and then ran right back into it to throw the pass.
- 19:34Speaker 2: He's got to get himself hurt.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Right.
- 19:36Speaker 1: But you look at him last year at Oregon State where they had a great running game, offensive line and running game.
- 19:42Speaker 1: You know the pass protection.
- 19:43Speaker 1: For instance, he threw five touchdowns against Cal last year.
- 19:47Speaker 1: You know they're going to come in here and think that somebody cloned them into a different qb.
- 19:55Speaker 2: I mean it's wow, all right, there we go, guys.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Optimism yeah you threw five touchdowns against calis that's right, uh, I.
- 20:06Speaker 2: So that's something to get excited about, sure, why not?
- 20:09Speaker 2: Because I'd want to.
- 20:10Speaker 1: I'd want to win a damn game yeah, everybody wants to win a game, but and that's, you're gonna have to get both.
- 20:18Speaker 1: You have to get both sides of the ball so far.
- 20:21Speaker 2: I know your team sucks yeah but you, you got to try to.
- 20:24Speaker 2: You still have talent compared to other teams.
- 20:28Speaker 2: You know, it's like what you were saying, like we were talking about budget on the roster and it's like, well right, georgia tech, boston College didn't pay what we paid.
- 20:36Speaker 2: No, they didn't, so let's go.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I mean, dude, there was a way and a scenario where you could have won against Memphis, as bad as your offense looked, and could have won against Georgia Tech.
- 20:49Speaker 2: What the hell was he thinking going for two?
- 20:51Speaker 2: Is that just an analytical thing?
- 20:53Speaker 1: Dude, he knew Listen, he knew Listen.
- 20:56Speaker 2: He knew as soon as they scored yeah, but still no, our best.
- 21:00Speaker 2: What if you get a pick six?
- 21:01Speaker 2: What if the guy fumbles?
- 21:02Speaker 1: and you get a score.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Yeah, sure, but our best, most logical chance of tying this game is getting into field goal range three times and just letting our only offensive weapon try to put points on the board.
- 21:14Speaker 1: If we get it, it's, it's nine points.
- 21:23Speaker 1: We can at least get.
- 21:23Speaker 1: It, doesn't matter when.
- 21:24Speaker 2: No, he, he, no dude he punted the ball with like well that he had two minutes fourth and it was four.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it was fourth and 32 and it was the right decision.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Like that, I don't even care about that, he knew he knew that was the right score to touchdown, like we're not going to score another touchdown offensively, we're not going to put another drive together.
- 21:41Speaker 1: We've been trying to set this play action like, yeah, it was a dumb move, it couldn't come back.
- 21:46Speaker 1: So then he just knows he's, that's it, yeah, oh man, dude like he's, he's a football coach, right Like none of these guys are watching what's going on and thinking, man, they look so great in practice what's going?
- 22:01Speaker 2: on.
- 22:01Speaker 2: I was a little.
- 22:01Speaker 2: I didn't like the response he had to having the headset, you know, because I remember I was thinking that would be a benefit, you know, to have the guy in your ear.
- 22:15Speaker 2: And then I heard here he didn't like it and it was hmm, who DJ?
- 22:22Speaker 2: No, Mike oh.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Yeah, well.
- 22:29Speaker 2: I mean it was a sideline question, but it was in the previous game, I mean.
- 22:38Speaker 1: I'm sure that I don't know, man, I just don't know what you can do.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Well, who's making the calls here.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Is somebody reading?
- 22:45Speaker 2: Is someone not making the right call?
- 22:46Speaker 2: Is DJ making the right calls here?
- 22:48Speaker 2: I mean, they're just not executing.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean You're just getting beat when you can't block.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean You're just getting beat when you can't block, yeah, can't do anything.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Nothing goes right, and it's also.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Scapegoat.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Maybe DJ he knew his team was going to suck, so I'm going to bring in DJ and then blame it on him.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Possibly, maybe, and he's a scapegoat.
- 23:10Speaker 1: In DJ's defense.
- 23:11Speaker 1: When he does make a play and buy time and roll out on his own and try to extend a play and throw it, your guy drops the damn ball Like it's that kind of season, you know.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Nobody's going to step up when it needs to be.
- 23:26Speaker 1: You know, ja'kai Douglas just stands there and watches the guy he's supposed to block slam Jalen Brown into the ground, kind of just throwing his hands up.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I think it's a combo of not knowing what the hell is going on, because the QB may not know what's going on.
- 23:44Speaker 1: A lot of guys on the team aren't very good.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Shouldn't be playing as much as they're playing.
- 23:49Speaker 1: That's also very frustrating.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Guys that came in, got a certain role and excelled are getting more responsibility and just sucking.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Right, or guys that have never really been much more than like backups or an emergency wide receiver against Boston College one year still getting 15 snaps a game at wide receiver, Getting targets.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Darian Williamson may be a great kid he's been here for five years.
- 24:23Speaker 1: He is not a good wide receiver.
- 24:26Speaker 1: He had one good game.
- 24:27Speaker 1: He may be fast and athletic and all of that.
- 24:30Speaker 1: He's not a good wide receiver.
- 24:32Speaker 1: That's a kid taking snaps from younger talent kit guys that have done stuff apparently in practice to show out Like that's just one example.
- 24:43Speaker 1: So you asked about the youth movement.
- 24:47Speaker 1: I think once it does get to be a mathematic impossibility to have a post season, I mean there's really nothing else left to do but just play young kids, Because the longer they sit, the less likely you are that they're going to be here next year.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Yeah, Like the days of no, no, they're not ready.
- 25:06Speaker 1: We got to get them developed and everything.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Ask Dave Clawson at Wake Forest how that's going.
- 25:10Speaker 1: That shit is over.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Go to the next hole.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, I'm goddamn mad at shit, we all know, all right.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Well, you know, I bet on it and I made some money.
- 25:27Speaker 1: That's really the only thing to do if you're that you know if you got the extra change running around.
- 25:32Speaker 2: I mean, that's just when you think about it and it's an odds thing.
- 25:37Speaker 2: I'm just trying to flip it out here.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Well, if you lose, it's like you paid for the team to win, right.
- 25:41Speaker 1: That feels good in and of itself, right, but you're not going to buy any wins this year.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Well, in the NFL the Bucs went up to Detroit and won Baker and the Bucs looked really good and that was a big win.
- 25:54Speaker 2: I'll tell you what shocked me was the Cardinals kicking the absolute shit.
- 25:59Speaker 2: The Cardinals looked really good.
- 26:00Speaker 2: Now, the Rams were a little depleted, injury-wise, but the Cardinals looked lethal man.
- 26:06Speaker 2: You know, james Conner, and if little guy Little man, little man, little man, tate, if they build up a man, tate.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Murray.
- 26:15Speaker 1: If they build up a big enough lead, murray plays like that and doesn't turn the ball over.
- 26:20Speaker 2: You can't stop him.
- 26:21Speaker 2: I saw Burst and Fisk beat their guy and just like oh.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:26Speaker 2: There he goes.
- 26:27Speaker 2: That's a tough one to play against, Because that dude when he's on.
- 26:31Speaker 1: Burst still had three tackles for loss.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Well, I mean you kyler murray.
- 26:36Speaker 2: You see why he was number one pick at five seven, because he can do things like that right and if he can keep it together, you know marvin harrison now and then they have benson's coming in.
- 26:49Speaker 2: He hasn't even got the touches yet, but he'll get it because after you you see a guy like James Conner bashing your head all game.
- 26:57Speaker 2: I'm telling you Benson's going to break one.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that's kind of his style is to just sort of run into the line three times and then hit one for 70 yards.
- 27:07Speaker 2: The Cardinals look good.
- 27:08Speaker 2: I mean they went into Buffalo.
- 27:10Speaker 2: They couldn't get the win, but you see Buffalo looks like the real deal because they beat the crap out of the Dolphins Tua.
- 27:20Speaker 2: People want him to retire.
- 27:21Speaker 2: I don't see why he shouldn't, Because he got paid a bunch of money.
- 27:26Speaker 1: He can walk away and he wants to play football, he can walk away and get like $167 million Right but he'll be deemed eligible to play, of course.
- 27:33Speaker 2: If he walks away, then he won't get all of it.
- 27:36Speaker 2: But the Saints man, what the hell man?
- 27:40Speaker 2: We are wrong about them, yeah.
- 27:42Speaker 1: I mean real Cowboys showed up, Postseason Cowboys showed up for that one.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Well, I mean the Saints are the best, most productive team in the league.
- 27:50Speaker 2: I mean Derek Carr scored on his first 15 drives of the season.
- 27:55Speaker 1: There, you go, I mean they got rid of old buddy.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Well, I just think.
- 28:01Speaker 1: I think, expectations.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Yeah, they did.
- 28:03Speaker 2: That guy sucked.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Right.
- 28:05Speaker 2: And and this team is still good.
- 28:06Speaker 2: They have guys on there that everybody was jumping off the wagon, you know.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:12Speaker 2: And I think they got a little bit of you know something to prove, because you know they still got dudes.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, these guys are still pros, man.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Any year they can all start trying at the same time.
- 28:24Speaker 1: That's another thing, right?
- 28:28Speaker 1: Jets finally got a win, jermaine Johnson done for the season.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that sucks yeah.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Man, I'll tell you what, though the Chargers?
- 28:38Speaker 2: I know they were playing the Panthers, but it was on the road and they just destroyed them.
- 28:44Speaker 2: They made them bench the quarterback for good.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Now.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean, you can't watch that kid die out there behind them, right but I'll tell you what, though the Chargers look for real I mean, jim Harbaugh, they've had one of the best rosters, the last few years.
- 28:59Speaker 2: He comes in and gets tackles, big-ass tackles.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Yeah, he plays that power.
- 29:04Speaker 2: And you get guys and you're tough.
- 29:05Speaker 2: You've got to be tough.
- 29:07Speaker 2: You've got to be tough in this league.
- 29:10Speaker 2: I mean, that's what he did in San Francisco, yeah, and in the first few years watch out, man, they look good.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that's when he's.
- 29:18Speaker 2: I'm really looking forward to that game against Kansas City, when they play them, because Kansas City is a team that is two plays away from being 0-2, but that's what they do, they win games at the end.
- 29:30Speaker 1: The Chargers finally got a coach that can kind of compete with Andy Reid.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Right, that's going to be a fun matchup Instead.
- 29:37Speaker 1: of that idiot they had last few years.
- 29:39Speaker 1: That guy was awful man.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Well, what else stuck out from college or NFL?
- 29:48Speaker 2: It's hard to even watch.
- 29:52Speaker 1: College Georgia.
- 29:53Speaker 1: Looks beatable man.
- 29:56Speaker 2: Yeah, 13-12, old Stoopsie Thought he was going to do it.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Man, poor guy.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Man, that would have been so huge, that would have been a career-defining guy.
- 30:06Speaker 1: I really wish we had Kentucky's quarterback man.
- 30:08Speaker 1: That's sad.
- 30:10Speaker 1: No, I can't.
- 30:11Speaker 2: I know, I know, I just like that statement.
- 30:14Speaker 1: But that kind of QB, just a guy that is like can just take off as soon as he feels pressure and make positive yards.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Yeah, let's see an athlete and he's not great throwing the football, but I don't think you have to be.
- 30:28Speaker 2: I think we should run in like all three young quarterbacks and run like some sort of triple-beer quarterback action.
- 30:34Speaker 2: We're just going to play all you guys run option, fake option, pass, who cares?
- 30:40Speaker 2: Find out which one of you guys has got it.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Sure.
- 30:47Speaker 1: It's not going to happen.
- 30:48Speaker 1: It's going to be the same goddamn thing every Saturday, over and over again.
- 30:54Speaker 1: We'll be here to do it every week, it's very likely that we're looking at 0-10 walking into that Charleston Southern game, I know, and then like hey, that includes a loss to Duke which has never happened before.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Well, that's happening.
- 31:13Speaker 1: Right, they'll get their one Mack.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Brown, that's a game that Mack Brown, mack.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Brown's never beat his alma mater.
- 31:19Speaker 1: He'll get that.
- 31:19Speaker 1: This year There'll be a lot of firsts, still something you got to.
- 31:25Speaker 1: I still maintain, like you can't lose, what are some bright signs?
- 31:28Speaker 1: You can't lose that Florida game.
- 31:30Speaker 2: Yeah, the defense was better Hopefully you get some tackles back, you get your O-line coach back.
- 31:36Speaker 1: The communication on the back end of the defense is awful.
- 31:38Speaker 1: It's going to be a night game.
- 31:40Speaker 2: It's going to be a night game, so you need to have something happen early, Otherwise fans are going to leave.
- 31:47Speaker 1: I don't think there's going to be much of a crowd anyway.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Man, people are checked out on DJ Every week that he's sitting there at QB.
- 31:56Speaker 1: You know on the depth chart they're just they're going to find something else to do.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, it's bad in Florida too, but yeah, yeah, um, you know, like he's done, he's done, um, we'll see when that happens would say after, at the latest after they get just destroyed by the miami's cooking right, my nfl.
- 32:22Speaker 2: We got another one tonight.
- 32:23Speaker 2: We got a lot of games to talk about.
- 32:25Speaker 2: We'll look forward to those games later in the week and we'll do the picks.
- 32:29Speaker 2: So we'll talk to you next time right here on the north florida sports network.
- 32:34Speaker 2: I'm goddamn madder than shit.
- 32:35Speaker 2: And we'll talk to you next time right here on the North Florida Sports Network.
- 32:37Speaker 2: I'm goddamn mad at her and shit.
