- 0:00Speaker 1: It's your early morning praise party.
- 0:02Speaker 2: I am Sherry Mackie, and it's time right now for
- 0:05Speaker 2: today's word.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Choosing to believe the best.
- 0:12Speaker 2: First Corinthians thirteen and seven says love bears up under
- 0:16Speaker 2: anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe
- 0:21Speaker 2: the best of every person. It hopes are fadeless under
- 0:25Speaker 2: all circumstances, and it endures everything without weakening.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Believing the best about people.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Is one of the most powerful steps that we can
- 0:36Speaker 2: take in the process of forgiveness.
- 0:39Speaker 1: When someone hurts or.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Offends us, our natural reaction is often to assume the worst,
- 0:44Speaker 2: and as human beings, we can be quick to judge,
- 0:47Speaker 2: quick to imagine motives, and quick to take offense. But
- 0:52Speaker 2: many times the hurt we feel is not because someone
- 0:55Speaker 2: deliberately mental wound us, is because we misinterpreted their actions
- 1:01Speaker 2: or assumed intent that was not there. Scripture reminds us
- 1:06Speaker 2: in First Corinthians thirteen that love always protect, love always trust,
- 1:12Speaker 2: love always hopes, love always perseveres, Love gives the benefit
- 1:17Speaker 2: of the doubt. Love chooses to believe the best. When
- 1:20Speaker 2: we discipline our minds to focus on what is good, noble,
- 1:24Speaker 2: and true, we began to see others through the lens
- 1:27Speaker 2: of grace rather than suspicion. Choosing to believe the best
- 1:32Speaker 2: doesn't mean pretending people never make mistakes. It means recognizing
- 1:36Speaker 2: that we all have flaws, but we also all have value.
- 1:42Speaker 1: It means remembering.
- 1:43Speaker 2: That just as we hope others will extend grace to
- 1:46Speaker 2: us when we fall short, we should extend that same
- 1:49Speaker 2: grace to them. Instead of letting negative thoughts spiral and
- 1:53Speaker 2: create division, we can choose thoughts that lead to peace, unity,
- 1:58Speaker 2: and stronger relationships. Yes, there will still be times when
- 2:03Speaker 2: people disappoint us, but in those moments we have a choice.
- 2:07Speaker 2: We can hold on to a fence, or we can
- 2:10Speaker 2: get over it by releasing it to God.
- 2:13Speaker 1: We can believe the worst.
- 2:15Speaker 2: And walk in bitterness, or we can believe the best
- 2:18Speaker 2: and keep our joy. When we choose the latter, not
- 2:21Speaker 2: only do our relationships improve, but our hearts remain free
- 2:25Speaker 2: and our days are filled with greater peace. Lord Jesus,
- 2:29Speaker 2: help us to believe the best about others.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Even when it's hard.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Teach us to see people through the eyes of love,
- 2:38Speaker 2: through the eyes of grace. Renew our minds with your truth,
- 2:41Speaker 2: and free us God from suspicion from offense and negative thinking.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Let our hearts remain us at peace as we walk
- 2:51Speaker 2: and forgiveness and choose to extend the same mercy that
- 2:55Speaker 2: you've shown to us in Jesus' name.
- 2:58Speaker 1: That's your word for today.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Take it applied to your everyday life, and you continue
- 3:03Speaker 2: to be in cursed and inspired. It's your early morning
- 3:06Speaker 2: praise party. I am Sherry Mackie.
