- 0:45Speaker 1: This is a special edition of Patriots Unfiltered. I'm joined
- 0:48Speaker 1: by Paul Pirillo, Mike do so Soon, Evan Lazarre, and
- 0:52Speaker 1: we are high above the Patriots practice fields at Jillette Stadium.
- 0:57Speaker 1: We'll be here for the duration of practice, us to
- 1:00Speaker 1: give you everything that we see in here for your enjoyment.
- 1:05Speaker 1: And it was a great day one I thought, in
- 1:08Speaker 1: terms of just participation, energy, crowd, weather, I mean, everything
- 1:14Speaker 1: was ideal for that first day.
- 1:15Speaker 5: I mean, I don't want to I don't know if
- 1:17Speaker 5: I'm hyping up too much. But I don't remember the
- 1:18Speaker 5: crowd being that loud. I mean, I think the reporter
- 1:21Speaker 5: was what over six thousand people were here, especially after
- 1:24Speaker 5: practice was over. Kendrick Bourne, Juju Smith Schuster hyping the
- 1:28Speaker 5: crowd up, having kind of screaming contest. It was just
- 1:31Speaker 5: really cool to see that first day energy brought by
- 1:33Speaker 5: the fans.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Yeah, and the crowd looks pretty good. There's still trickling in.
- 1:37Speaker 1: I'm looking down the spine where all the activations are,
- 1:40Speaker 1: you know, the games and everything. There's a big crowd
- 1:43Speaker 1: down there. There's already a big crowd on the hill
- 1:45Speaker 1: in the stand. So it should be a similar day.
- 1:48Speaker 5: I think. So we'll see maybe a little bit more competition.
- 1:50Speaker 5: I think we saw more probably more red zone of course,
- 1:53Speaker 5: right Paul, we know we'll probably be back in there.
- 1:55Speaker 5: And there were some quasi competitive periods, as competitive as
- 1:58Speaker 5: you can get with with helmets and and shells at
- 2:00Speaker 5: this point. But you know, a couple guys to highlight
- 2:03Speaker 5: I think from yesterday Kyle Duggart coming down with the
- 2:05Speaker 5: first interception on the first play down there, so that
- 2:07Speaker 5: was a nice start for him, as you know, entering
- 2:10Speaker 5: a contract year. But Mac at that. You know, I
- 2:12Speaker 5: thought the offense was okay. They bounced back a couple
- 2:14Speaker 5: of touchdowns for Hunter Henry time Montgomery was really productive.
- 2:18Speaker 5: You just don't want to overreact to, you know, who
- 2:20Speaker 5: won the day or anything like that. It seems kind
- 2:22Speaker 5: of ridiculous. There was you know, maybe twelve total reps
- 2:24Speaker 5: for the first teams down there. So we'll see tomorrow
- 2:27Speaker 5: today if they build on it. I guess we're kind
- 2:29Speaker 5: of watching the weather too. Here is a yeah, windy,
- 2:31Speaker 5: little humid.
- 2:32Speaker 1: It's kind of a weird day. Was supposed to be hot,
- 2:35Speaker 1: but there's it's overcast, so that's keeping the sun in
- 2:37Speaker 1: and the temperature down. But there is a pretty steady
- 2:41Speaker 1: wind going on. So you know, that's not going to
- 2:44Speaker 1: affect much today except maybe the kicking when they get
- 2:47Speaker 1: to that.
- 2:48Speaker 6: But maybe a little bit of our broadcast, But yes
- 2:50Speaker 6: about it.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Yeah you might hear some the tent flapping in the background.
- 2:53Speaker 1: But you know, good for the players that you have
- 2:57Speaker 1: that overcast because the temperature was supposed to be like
- 3:00Speaker 1: to ninety.
- 3:00Speaker 6: It's gonna be and the cloud cover is gonna give way.
- 3:03Speaker 6: And I think you're right, Friday, I think the players
- 3:05Speaker 6: are going to luck out a little bit and get
- 3:06Speaker 6: most of their work done before that happens, because it
- 3:09Speaker 6: is supposed to be a scorch. Yeah.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Yeah, that's supposed to be a scorch.
- 3:12Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I mean it's right now it's probably close to eighty
- 3:15Speaker 1: degrees without the sun, so.
- 3:17Speaker 6: Even with that breeze.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Yeah, so it's going to get up there. But you know,
- 3:22Speaker 1: good start for the players. The other thing, you know,
- 3:25Speaker 1: to note yesterday I mentioned it at the top was
- 3:28Speaker 1: just you know, everybody coming in for the most part healthy.
- 3:32Speaker 1: I can't remember that.
- 3:34Speaker 6: Three guys that weren't seen and they're all on lists.
- 3:37Speaker 6: So and you know, I think that's a good start
- 3:40Speaker 6: to be that that healthy at the start.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I don't I don't think I remember a camp that
- 3:46Speaker 1: from the get go, all the name play, you know,
- 3:49Speaker 1: the notable players, there wasn't one that was you know,
- 3:52Speaker 1: on a list or not here.
- 3:54Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean I think, I mean maybe Michael when
- 3:56Speaker 6: you would like a word.
- 3:58Speaker 5: With yeah, that's true, but but but still, I mean
- 4:01Speaker 5: we kind of expected that. Suffering an injury towards the
- 4:04Speaker 5: end of last season in the last game ankle surgery,
- 4:06Speaker 5: you know, still recovering, I don't know we haven't really
- 4:08Speaker 5: gotten any reports of what his prognosis was. You know,
- 4:11Speaker 5: Bill Murray was was there with the with the top line,
- 4:14Speaker 5: take it for what it's worth. I think you always
- 4:16Speaker 5: have an element of Bill Belichick wanting to insert a
- 4:19Speaker 5: veteran into these early days of camp, somebody who knows
- 4:21Speaker 5: what they're doing, and not just you know, hand something
- 4:23Speaker 5: to one of those rookies. But there are three rookies
- 4:25Speaker 5: that they drafted this year and on that day too,
- 4:27Speaker 5: that you know, all could probably play right guard. I think,
- 4:31Speaker 5: you know, Mafi maybe being the favorite to kind of
- 4:33Speaker 5: get a look there. And then we talked about Jake
- 4:35Speaker 5: Andrews maybe being more of an inside center type. But
- 4:38Speaker 5: Citisal Antonio, Mafi, those two guys, you know they could
- 4:41Speaker 5: be in the mix if on when you wasn't back soon,
- 4:44Speaker 5: and you know Murray isn't able to kind of hold
- 4:46Speaker 5: up at this new position.
- 4:47Speaker 6: Can I give a go ahead? Not really all that
- 4:50Speaker 6: relevant either here or there. But did I learn yesterday
- 4:53Speaker 6: and Mafi his name is Tony in there? There's no
- 4:58Speaker 6: in and there I learned. I learned that yesterday.
- 5:02Speaker 1: We just saw Christian Gonzales enter the field. He right
- 5:07Speaker 1: away first first team reps.
- 5:10Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, I think that that was one of
- 5:12Speaker 6: the things that we were going to look for before
- 5:14Speaker 6: practice yesterday, was where Jack Jones sort of situated, at
- 5:18Speaker 6: least for one day. It looked like they were sort
- 5:20Speaker 6: of putting him on the backgrunner a little bit, perhaps
- 5:24Speaker 6: in preparation of, you know, the the uncertainty right surrounding
- 5:28Speaker 6: his availability going forward. So yeah, it was definitely Christian
- 5:30Speaker 6: Gonzales with Jonathan Jones.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Day one, Trent Brown entering the field.
- 5:36Speaker 5: Big Trent Brown, who reported early.
- 5:37Speaker 6: Trent Brown had some good things to say about Billy O'Brien.
- 5:40Speaker 6: He sure did I tell you that.
- 5:41Speaker 5: He sure did. Seems like a big fan. And you know,
- 5:44Speaker 5: I like they said, well why did you report early?
- 5:46Speaker 5: I think saying, oh, you know, are you ready to
- 5:47Speaker 5: tell me? I do what I'm told.
- 5:48Speaker 6: So I did what I was told. I guess they
- 5:50Speaker 6: got big trends. But from there I thought his talk
- 5:52Speaker 6: got much better.
- 5:53Speaker 5: Yeah, I will say, yeah, No, I mean, you know,
- 5:55Speaker 5: everybody's kind of got him, I don't want to say
- 5:57Speaker 5: in their cross hairs, but he's you know, he's a
- 5:59Speaker 5: storyline this year. He's a huge piece. I mean, I
- 6:02Speaker 5: don't know how you guys felt yesterday, but I mean
- 6:04Speaker 5: Riley Reef, it feels a little tenuous there at right tackle.
- 6:07Speaker 5: I really got to hope that one of these other
- 6:09Speaker 5: guys can step up. I don't I mean Connor McDermott
- 6:12Speaker 5: I mentioned City saw maybe he has some right tackle.
- 6:15Speaker 5: Andrew Stuber, second year guy who played right tackle at Michigan,
- 6:17Speaker 5: didn't play it all last year due to injury.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Why do you think Reef over McDermott right from the
- 6:22Speaker 1: get go, Well, they kind of flopped a little bit.
- 6:24Speaker 5: I mean it's I mean, Reef was probably has had
- 6:26Speaker 5: the better career. I mean, he's been in the league forever.
- 6:29Speaker 5: Definitely on the back side of it though, and you
- 6:32Speaker 5: know McDermott Patriots had interest in him when he came out.
- 6:34Speaker 5: He's kind of been kicking around practice squad, so it's,
- 6:37Speaker 5: you know, it's kind of one of those guy who
- 6:39Speaker 5: maybe is doesn't quite have that ceiling versus guy who
- 6:41Speaker 5: maybe had the ceiling a while ago but now is
- 6:43Speaker 5: on the back end. So I mean, I think the
- 6:46Speaker 5: best thing for this team would be if one of
- 6:48Speaker 5: these young guys, you know, were to make a push
- 6:50Speaker 5: for that, whether it's saw whether it's Stuber, whether you know,
- 6:52Speaker 5: McDermott does find a new level of play that he's
- 6:55Speaker 5: able to kind of build off of. But I know
- 6:57Speaker 5: at the end of OTA as we saw kind of
- 6:59Speaker 5: a more thing.
- 7:00Speaker 6: Reef started out.
- 7:01Speaker 5: At the right tackle spot, and later in the sessions
- 7:04Speaker 5: you were seeing McDermott get in there, So I think
- 7:06Speaker 5: it's an open competition there. But again, to bring it
- 7:08Speaker 5: back to Trent Brown, it all starts with him locking
- 7:12Speaker 5: down that left side, and so I think that that's
- 7:13Speaker 5: just such a such a huge key as Evan's been
- 7:16Speaker 5: pointing out the differences in max passer rating when he's
- 7:19Speaker 5: protected and has time, he's a good quarterback. So it's
- 7:23Speaker 5: a key piece. And I think yesterday we saw josh Ucha,
- 7:26Speaker 5: Anthony Jennings, a couple guys making some moves into the
- 7:28Speaker 5: backfield pretty quick. So I just think that right tackle
- 7:31Speaker 5: spot remains a glaring one to watch. And especially now
- 7:34Speaker 5: as we're watching Judeon put his jersey on, I'm not
- 7:37Speaker 5: sure he didn't really participate yesterday. What's going on there?
- 7:40Speaker 5: Is he rehabbing, We'll see what he participates into that.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Evan Lazarre has joining us. Evan any opening thoughts.
- 7:47Speaker 7: I doesn't sound drunk today, that's good.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Yeah, he had a lot of emails that was not Evan,
- 7:51Speaker 1: that was something going on with his audience.
- 7:53Speaker 6: His first day at.
- 7:54Speaker 5: Camp, he was out there boozing eyes and here you
- 7:58Speaker 5: guys continue.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Yeah, but fatday night, sounding sober. Yes, Any opening thoughts
- 8:07Speaker 1: for you.
- 8:08Speaker 7: I'm sure you guys already what kind of talked about it.
- 8:12Speaker 7: But I just think the main thing for me is
- 8:14Speaker 7: there's a little juice here. Yesterday with this team really
- 8:17Speaker 7: good attendance. Doesn't seem like anybody failed the conditioning test
- 8:21Speaker 7: or failed their physicals other than the guys that we
- 8:24Speaker 7: pretty much already knew were going to start camp healthy
- 8:28Speaker 7: like a Mike on Winnu. So overall, it kind of
- 8:32Speaker 7: reminds me of two years ago when they had the
- 8:34Speaker 7: spreading spree and they draft Mac Jones in the first round,
- 8:37Speaker 7: and you come back to camp with a little bit
- 8:39Speaker 7: of juice, and maybe it's Bill O'Brien. I think that's
- 8:42Speaker 7: a big part of it. I think there are some
- 8:44Speaker 7: guys like Juju and Kasiki who give this team some
- 8:48Speaker 7: optimism on the offensive side of the ball. But dude,
- 8:51Speaker 7: you were just talking about the right tackle situation. And
- 8:53Speaker 7: the thing that I come back to is I think
- 8:55Speaker 7: their weapons are good enough for them to be okay
- 9:00Speaker 7: or at least twenty twenty one level on offense. The
- 9:02Speaker 7: offensive line is going to be the make or break
- 9:06Speaker 7: for this offense. I really feel that way, and you
- 9:09Speaker 7: just look at it on paper and the tackle spot
- 9:12Speaker 7: is still a major concern to me, and there's ways
- 9:15Speaker 7: to work around it obviously, like anything, but I think
- 9:18Speaker 7: this team is going to go as their offensive line goes,
- 9:21Speaker 7: and if they can block and they can protect Mac
- 9:23Speaker 7: and give him time back there, then they'll score some points.
- 9:25Speaker 7: But if they can't, then then I think that this
- 9:27Speaker 7: could be a house of cards with the lines.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Well. As you see the guys are warming up right
- 9:33Speaker 1: now doing their stretching. While they're doing that, I think
- 9:35Speaker 1: we should talk a little bit about what was said yesterday.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Matt Growe had his press conference after practice, and I
- 9:43Speaker 1: thought he said some interesting things, one regarding the situation
- 9:47Speaker 1: with Hopkins trying to get him and also his own
- 9:50Speaker 1: role with the team. You know, he came right out
- 9:53Speaker 1: and said that about the salary cap and Hopkins that
- 9:56Speaker 1: that wasn't a factor. You can pretty much do what
- 9:58Speaker 1: you want. With the sou recap, you just have to
- 10:01Speaker 1: get creative and you can do what you want. So
- 10:04Speaker 1: that wasn't it. That wasn't it. So it tells me
- 10:06Speaker 1: that they had a number in mind that he was
- 10:09Speaker 1: worth or they were willing to pay for him, and
- 10:11Speaker 1: they weren't gonna budge over that.
- 10:13Speaker 5: I think we got to frame that quote and put
- 10:14Speaker 5: it like in the pu studio, so Paul can just
- 10:16Speaker 5: point to it, like you know when we start talking, cap.
- 10:19Speaker 6: Paul just silently. I just want a little I just
- 10:21Speaker 6: want a little thing. I'm not gonna ask for anything.
- 10:23Speaker 6: I don't ask for much, Okay, I just want a
- 10:26Speaker 6: little credit for not yet saying that ten minutes into
- 10:29Speaker 6: our show.
- 10:30Speaker 5: If you had you were champing at the bit where
- 10:33Speaker 5: I did it for you.
- 10:34Speaker 6: No, I was gonna let it go.
- 10:35Speaker 1: I did it for you.
- 10:36Speaker 6: I think it's such a non factor that I didn't
- 10:38Speaker 6: really even think that was all that noteworthy yesterday. And
- 10:40Speaker 6: I'm being dead serious.
- 10:42Speaker 5: Yeah we're already passed that here.
- 10:43Speaker 1: But but it does confirm that that had nothing to
- 10:46Speaker 1: do with the Hopkins decision. No money does, money does,
- 10:50Speaker 1: and in what they think of the player does that's The.
- 10:54Speaker 7: Part that's frustrating to me is that we have we
- 10:56Speaker 7: were getting mixed messages now because we have the owner
- 10:59Speaker 7: telling us that money will never be a problem. And
- 11:02Speaker 7: I believe them. I don't think that they're ever gonna,
- 11:05Speaker 7: you know, say, a bill's going to go to mister
- 11:07Speaker 7: Kraft and mister Craft's gonna say no, no, we're We're
- 11:10Speaker 7: not you know, we're not gonna do that. Okay. So
- 11:13Speaker 7: if it's not the cap and it's not cash, then
- 11:18Speaker 7: it's the evaluation the player exactly, and maybe they end
- 11:23Speaker 7: up being correct in the long run that Hopkins wasn't
- 11:25Speaker 7: worth what the Titans paid him. But Ben Vollen tweeted
- 11:28Speaker 7: out the contract structure this morning, and it's essentially a
- 11:31Speaker 7: one year deal for Hopkins in Tennessee. It's non guaranteed
- 11:34Speaker 7: in the second year of the deal. It's a one year,
- 11:36Speaker 7: fifteen million dollar contract. And I just don't know if,
- 11:42Speaker 7: like we'll see who's right, you know, it just it
- 11:44Speaker 7: just feels like why is football, you know, why is
- 11:48Speaker 7: the player personnel department not? Where is the disconnect in
- 11:53Speaker 7: the assessment?
- 11:54Speaker 1: Well, it could be you know, like we talked about before. Okay,
- 11:57Speaker 1: let's just say that even the pay. Let's say the
- 11:59Speaker 1: Patriots match that deal and they were willing to give
- 12:02Speaker 1: him fifteen million dollars this year, Maybe in Bill's mind,
- 12:06Speaker 1: he's not the player enough to disrupt the economic order
- 12:11Speaker 1: of my locker room to give him that money.
- 12:13Speaker 6: If that's true, it worries me more than anything else,
- 12:15Speaker 6: because if he doesn't determine that DeAndre Hopkins is that
- 12:18Speaker 6: much better than anybody he has. I worry about his
- 12:20Speaker 6: evaluation of that position, which has been an ongoing concern
- 12:24Speaker 6: for people. I mean, and I just don't get it.
- 12:27Speaker 1: And to me, that's what it comes down to, you know,
- 12:29Speaker 1: And at the end of the day, like evn said,
- 12:32Speaker 1: it came down to the evaluation of the player personally,
- 12:36Speaker 1: I think it's worth paying him, you know. No, I know,
- 12:38Speaker 1: we're all going it, you know, but they don't agree.
- 12:42Speaker 7: Paul's spot on what he just said is that at
- 12:46Speaker 7: some point is can we criticize them for their evaluation
- 12:51Speaker 7: of wide receivers and the value of wide receivers because
- 12:55Speaker 7: one year, fifteen million dollars for DeAndre Hopkins is not
- 12:58Speaker 7: a bad deal, and we're two offseasons removed from them
- 13:01Speaker 7: paying Nelson Agalore, you know, two years, twenty six million,
- 13:05Speaker 7: So you really couldn't have you know, you can't give
- 13:09Speaker 7: two million dollars more to a much better player, you know.
- 13:12Speaker 7: It just that's the part that that frustrates me and
- 13:15Speaker 7: I you know, this morning, Jeremy Fowler is reporting that
- 13:18Speaker 7: after he goes to the Jets, Dalvin Cook is coming
- 13:20Speaker 7: here for a visit with the Patriots. And I don't know,
- 13:24Speaker 7: Dalvin Cook's not what I would have done. I would
- 13:26Speaker 7: have given the money to Hopkins, but he's definitely somebody
- 13:30Speaker 7: that is a skilled player, that's an explosive guy that
- 13:32Speaker 7: can help the team move the ball on offense. And
- 13:35Speaker 7: is it going to be the same thing? Is the
- 13:37Speaker 7: Jets offer going to be all base value and the
- 13:39Speaker 7: Patriots are going to be all incentives and he's gonna
- 13:41Speaker 7: end up going to division rival because of a better
- 13:45Speaker 7: contract offer, right?
- 13:46Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 13:46Speaker 5: That I saw that report going to the Jets, and
- 13:49Speaker 5: I mean that's it just it raises the ante a
- 13:52Speaker 5: little bit when you know that they're potentially in the
- 13:54Speaker 5: hunt for him, you know, bringing back their running back
- 13:57Speaker 5: from last year, Breest Hall, who was you know, off
- 13:59Speaker 5: to a white hot start. I know there's been some
- 14:02Speaker 5: reports that he's you know, still kind of working his
- 14:04Speaker 5: way back in. So it's it's it seems like they
- 14:08Speaker 5: need a player in the backfield kind of compliment.
- 14:11Speaker 1: See the other thing GroE mentioned yesterday that kind of
- 14:14Speaker 1: in passing, they were talking about money spent, you know,
- 14:16Speaker 1: Patriots being in the lower end of the league and
- 14:19Speaker 1: cash spent, and you know, Gross said, you know, I've
- 14:23Speaker 1: only been involved in the spending of money for the
- 14:26Speaker 1: last couple of years. I thought that was interesting, like
- 14:30Speaker 1: that he's making money decisions, you know.
- 14:33Speaker 6: And then I thought it was interesting when Bill was
- 14:35Speaker 6: sort of asked about his role today. It was kind
- 14:37Speaker 6: of a different type of answer because I do I
- 14:39Speaker 6: agree with you, Freddy. I thought that was interesting the
- 14:42Speaker 6: way he phrased that yesterday. And then Bill was like,
- 14:45Speaker 6: you know, he's been really helpful, you know, when there
- 14:48Speaker 6: are things to do, you know, he's been able to
- 14:49Speaker 6: help me out. And he actually kind of caught himself.
- 14:53Speaker 6: He's like, when there's not really a lot going on,
- 14:54Speaker 6: he hasn't that anything, you know, like you know, he
- 14:56Speaker 6: has other things to do, but like, yeah, I just wonder.
- 14:59Speaker 6: I mean, like, to me, I'm with Evan on this.
- 15:01Speaker 6: This is like DeAndre Hopkins specifically, that's a Bill decision
- 15:06Speaker 6: whether or not he wants to go to Robert Craft
- 15:08Speaker 6: to find out if we're going to be able to
- 15:09Speaker 6: have the money to get him. Right, Like, I find
- 15:11Speaker 6: it hard to believe that Macro says yes, Bill Belichick
- 15:14Speaker 6: says no, and you end up signing the guy, well
- 15:16Speaker 6: vice versa. Yeah, Like, I think it comes down to Bill.
- 15:19Speaker 6: But yeah, I think Macro was in that role. And
- 15:22Speaker 6: I think there's some things that he said yesterday that
- 15:26Speaker 6: I thought were curious about, you know, the guys that
- 15:29Speaker 6: are serious about football and whatnot. Like I thought it
- 15:33Speaker 6: was kind of disrespectful to guys that maybe I think
- 15:36Speaker 6: if you were DeAndre Hopkins from AFAR, you could read
- 15:39Speaker 6: a quote like that and like is he suggested that
- 15:42Speaker 6: I'm not serious about football because I signed somewhere else, right, Like,
- 15:46Speaker 6: you know, I thought that was kind of a curious
- 15:48Speaker 6: And he.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Went into the whole thing if you, if you really
- 15:50Speaker 1: love football, this is this is this.
- 15:52Speaker 6: Is the place for you, if you if you're really
- 15:54Speaker 6: into football and hard work and you know, and then
- 15:58Speaker 6: he sort of talked about if you were outside of
- 15:59Speaker 6: the place, how hard it would because you'd be institutionalized,
- 16:02Speaker 6: and he went all, well, yeah, you know, talking about
- 16:05Speaker 6: the Brooks how he was institutionalized. So I just thought
- 16:08Speaker 6: that was a little curious.
- 16:09Speaker 7: But I'm worried that he's being sha shanged, Yeah, because
- 16:13Speaker 7: he just he tells us things that are different than
- 16:15Speaker 7: what the team does, and that tells me that that
- 16:18Speaker 7: bill is overriding.
- 16:19Speaker 6: And I wonder, I wonder if this Dalvin Cook thing
- 16:21Speaker 6: Evan is a little something along those lines.
- 16:24Speaker 7: He said in later on, somebody asked him about a
- 16:27Speaker 7: number one wide receiver, like what that means to them,
- 16:29Speaker 7: and he said, it's a player that can get open
- 16:32Speaker 7: on their own that we don't need to scheme them open.
- 16:34Speaker 7: We don't need to, you know, formationally get him open.
- 16:37Speaker 7: He just gets open on his own. And then you know,
- 16:40Speaker 7: he he sees the value in it, like you can
- 16:42Speaker 7: tell by the answers that he gives that he sees
- 16:45Speaker 7: the value in receivers nowadays, but then their their actual
- 16:48Speaker 7: actions don't back up that they value it.
- 16:51Speaker 5: So well, guys, real quick, I think I got everybody, Uh,
- 16:56Speaker 5: yesterday seem as yesterday would just be Michael and when
- 16:59Speaker 5: you Calvin Anderson and Cody Davis not president and I
- 17:02Speaker 5: know DeMarcus Mitchell is here, but I don't believe he
- 17:04Speaker 5: participated yesterday.
- 17:06Speaker 6: So yeah, I think he's in the same kind of strait,
- 17:08Speaker 6: but he's in uniform to me, so like that that counts, Yeah,
- 17:11Speaker 6: that counts. I'm going to watch Matthew Judon. I wanted
- 17:14Speaker 6: to bring see this is the something yesterday and it
- 17:16Speaker 6: was showing right now. Moses Cabrera takes the skilled guys,
- 17:21Speaker 6: he gets them together and they then they break off
- 17:23Speaker 6: and do some work with with I think some maybe
- 17:26Speaker 6: it looks like they're gonna be a little different today
- 17:27Speaker 6: with a bunch of cones and small hurdles set up
- 17:30Speaker 6: while the linemen sort of just continue their warm up routine.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Yeah, so I think like it was a little different.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Moses might kind of brief them on here's what I'm
- 17:37Speaker 1: going to be looking for you guys to do today
- 17:39Speaker 1: in this one session, here's how we do it, this
- 17:43Speaker 1: is what we're looking for, and then they go and
- 17:45Speaker 1: do it.
- 17:46Speaker 6: But I wanted to bring up Judaan to see if
- 17:48Speaker 6: you guys, you know, is there any concern for anybody?
- 17:51Speaker 6: Do you think this is about anything like it? Could
- 17:54Speaker 6: it possibly be anything that.
- 17:57Speaker 1: You know?
- 17:57Speaker 6: Non injury related that maybe he's looking to see if
- 18:00Speaker 6: he can get in you know, an extension or something
- 18:02Speaker 6: like that.
- 18:02Speaker 5: I think he's like holding in.
- 18:04Speaker 6: No, I don't, I don't. I'm just I'm speaking, you know,
- 18:07Speaker 6: sort of thinking out loud.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Yeah, mean, just from his body language, he seems in
- 18:11Speaker 1: like really good mood and everything like that.
- 18:13Speaker 6: So if see I'm judging by the slotty language that
- 18:15Speaker 6: he looks pretty healthy.
- 18:16Speaker 1: To me, it's like running around, running around, but if
- 18:19Speaker 1: there's something bothering it, it's not showing. Yeah, you know.
- 18:23Speaker 5: Tekwon Thornton running this drill, it's like he's going mock too.
- 18:27Speaker 7: Uh.
- 18:27Speaker 5: That's a good question for Paul. I think it's something
- 18:29Speaker 5: to watch it. Do we see him depart? Uh again today?
- 18:33Speaker 5: I kind of oh, there he goes. He's running there,
- 18:35Speaker 5: he's running through the running through the drills. Good.
- 18:37Speaker 1: There's nothing wrong with his legs.
- 18:38Speaker 5: I think he's I think he I mean, I know
- 18:40Speaker 5: what's wrong with his wallet.
- 18:41Speaker 6: You always hesitate to make the training evaluation, you know,
- 18:45Speaker 6: based on appearances, because I've seen guys look like they
- 18:48Speaker 6: would have no chance to play and then play fine
- 18:50Speaker 6: on Sunday, and then the opposite guys look fine and
- 18:53Speaker 6: they end up being scratched. So I'm not telling you
- 18:56Speaker 6: that he's not hurt. But he's moving around really well.
- 18:59Speaker 6: He looks to in great spirits.
- 19:01Speaker 5: Right, So I don't know, it's not what happens when
- 19:03Speaker 5: team drills happened if he's involved.
- 19:06Speaker 7: I just wonder what Judan and this sort of happened
- 19:08Speaker 7: with Devin mccordy later on as well. I don't know
- 19:12Speaker 7: that I'll see you against the Eagles, Matthe yeah, like, yeah,
- 19:16Speaker 7: I just well, I understand that he's got to get
- 19:19Speaker 7: in football shape and the and those reps are important
- 19:21Speaker 7: for that respect, but I don't really think Matthew Judon
- 19:25Speaker 7: needs to come out here and be going in the
- 19:26Speaker 7: tilt on day two of training camp.
- 19:28Speaker 6: Right, No, but but but no one's going full tilt
- 19:31Speaker 6: like he's not doing anything.
- 19:32Speaker 7: Yeah, no, I hear you.
- 19:34Speaker 1: But I think what is he missing by taking a
- 19:37Speaker 1: few days off.
- 19:38Speaker 6: I'm not suggesting he's missing anything, but he's the only
- 19:40Speaker 6: one that's that's in that situation. I think I could
- 19:44Speaker 6: name a dozen guys that don't necessarily need every every
- 19:47Speaker 6: sharp rep right now, we prepare.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Yeah, next week could have a day off, But talking.
- 19:53Speaker 7: About a thirty year old guy though he played a
- 19:55Speaker 7: lot of football last couple of years.
- 19:57Speaker 5: Like hugely important to the wonder.
- 20:01Speaker 6: Okay, so so now that now that to me is
- 20:03Speaker 6: a little different the way I haven't just phrased him.
- 20:05Speaker 6: I think that's a good point. It's a guy who
- 20:07Speaker 6: really tailed off in the second half of both seies
- 20:10Speaker 6: as the you know, as a patriot. Maybe he's on
- 20:12Speaker 6: a different program that that would make sense, that would
- 20:14Speaker 6: be one reason why you might want to treat him differently. Yeah,
- 20:17Speaker 6: but he didn't do much on the scring either, which
- 20:19Speaker 6: is why it sort of had my intent.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Lawrence guy, what was his participation?
- 20:24Speaker 6: Right?
- 20:25Speaker 8: No?
- 20:25Speaker 6: No, no change ones.
- 20:28Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean it's it's it's pretty much the defensive
- 20:30Speaker 5: front from last year. I mean, that's exactly what they're
- 20:33Speaker 5: they're running with, you know him.
- 20:35Speaker 1: So does that say that either he's kind of giving
- 20:38Speaker 1: up on his quest for for money or they did
- 20:42Speaker 1: something quiet, they did something.
- 20:44Speaker 5: I think they did some little to give him.
- 20:46Speaker 7: That's not that's not an inside information.
- 20:48Speaker 5: They signed him up for the Jelly of the Month
- 20:50Speaker 5: club and.
- 20:51Speaker 7: Nice, nice reference.
- 20:53Speaker 6: That's that's good.
- 20:54Speaker 5: But when somebody report that, should somebody report that at
- 20:57Speaker 5: some point though that.
- 20:59Speaker 7: Like two weeks.
- 21:00Speaker 6: Yeah, I guess field Yates will.
- 21:02Speaker 5: I was waiting for the for that tweet, you know,
- 21:05Speaker 5: for all the Patriots, you know, moved some money up
- 21:08Speaker 5: for this year to give him a little a little
- 21:10Speaker 5: something for the effort, you know.
- 21:12Speaker 6: For mac Jones, that's possible. I think that's certainly possible.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Mac Jones also spoke after practice yesterday and a lot
- 21:19Speaker 1: of the same things we heard in the spring, fresh start,
- 21:22Speaker 1: trust rust players, his teammates.
- 21:25Speaker 6: I thought he was I thought he was a little
- 21:26Speaker 6: better yesterday. I know Mike and I were talking about
- 21:29Speaker 6: my shows. Yeah, and my shows picked at some of
- 21:32Speaker 6: the things they put in like they always do. But
- 21:37Speaker 6: excuse me, I could not hold that sneeze back. I apologize,
- 21:40Speaker 6: And you do have.
- 21:42Speaker 5: A sniper got you there.
- 21:44Speaker 6: Well, we were a little too far forward, too far
- 21:47Speaker 6: gone the forehead. But I did think that they were
- 21:51Speaker 6: picking at some of the things he said, and I
- 21:52Speaker 6: thought a little bit unfairly. I thought he sort of
- 21:56Speaker 6: expressed some of the things now they were definitely it
- 21:58Speaker 6: was one or two things like you had one about
- 22:01Speaker 6: the He was asked about Belichick is helping.
- 22:03Speaker 5: Well, he mentioned, I mean and I'm not gonna lie.
- 22:05Speaker 5: I did clock it. When you know, Mack was asked
- 22:07Speaker 5: about about Bill because there was a moment yesterday and
- 22:09Speaker 5: we talked about it on the air when you know,
- 22:11Speaker 5: after an incomplete pass, Bill went over to him and
- 22:13Speaker 5: was talking to him for a second, and you know,
- 22:16Speaker 5: and when Mac was asked after practice, he instantly kind
- 22:18Speaker 5: of went, oh, Bill's great at you know, telling me
- 22:20Speaker 5: what the defense is trying to do.
- 22:22Speaker 7: You know.
- 22:23Speaker 5: So it's like, oh, that's interesting. But you know, the
- 22:25Speaker 5: thing to me was that I think we all agreed
- 22:27Speaker 5: when we saw the interaction. It seemed specifically like Bill
- 22:30Speaker 5: Belichick was showing him about ball placement, not so much
- 22:34Speaker 5: telling him, hey, you know, the defender is going to
- 22:36Speaker 5: drop into that zone and throw it there, that kind
- 22:37Speaker 5: of thing. So I don't know, it's always it's always
- 22:40Speaker 5: fun with Felgrims. And then I always you know, imagine
- 22:42Speaker 5: if Paul was on, because that was a moment that
- 22:45Speaker 5: we clearly saw together and and you know, I think
- 22:47Speaker 5: that's when you know, Paul has those good moments where
- 22:49Speaker 5: he kind of keeps those guys uh from going completely
- 22:51Speaker 5: off the rails with some of that stuff.
- 22:53Speaker 6: Yeah, and I think they were picking at like his phraseology.
- 22:56Speaker 1: If I think it goes Mac a little. Well, he
- 22:58Speaker 1: looks good, and he was he looks good.
- 23:00Speaker 6: He wasn't the only one that talked about I think
- 23:03Speaker 6: he was talking about you know, And I think that's
- 23:05Speaker 6: kind of a crutch of how he gets into a
- 23:07Speaker 6: lot of his answers. Well, you know, I think you know,
- 23:09Speaker 6: we're working hard. Yeah, it's not I think we're working hard.
- 23:12Speaker 6: It's you know, you know, I think we're working hard,
- 23:14Speaker 6: and I think we have the tools to be you know, like,
- 23:16Speaker 6: I think it's more of a definitive than the way
- 23:19Speaker 6: they would try to make some of the things out.
- 23:21Speaker 6: I don't think we have a good relationship. No, I
- 23:23Speaker 6: think we have a good relationship.
- 23:24Speaker 5: I'm forgetting what the word is, and I know I'm
- 23:26Speaker 5: bad at with it sometimes. But you have like those
- 23:28Speaker 5: crutch things that you kind of say when you're responding
- 23:31Speaker 5: to questions, and he always does the uh yeah.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I think.
- 23:33Speaker 5: I mean, it's it's just how he talks. I know
- 23:36Speaker 5: I have something I try not to do him on
- 23:37Speaker 5: the radio after so many people email me about my
- 23:39Speaker 5: likes and you knows, but you know, what are you
- 23:41Speaker 5: gonna do?
- 23:42Speaker 6: Yeah? But I thought Mac and you know, I thought
- 23:44Speaker 6: he sounded, you know, pretty comfortable. Yesterday. I thought he
- 23:51Speaker 6: when he was talking, I thought, you know, sometimes we
- 23:54Speaker 6: sort of tease him for being, you know, a little goofy. Yeah,
- 23:56Speaker 6: I thought he sort of was recognizing when he was
- 23:58Speaker 6: a little goofy. Yesterday he was chuckling at himself and
- 24:01Speaker 6: having fun with it. So yeah, I mean, I thought
- 24:03Speaker 6: he looks comfortable. I had no issues at all with
- 24:07Speaker 6: his press briefing yesterday. I thought it was a good,
- 24:10Speaker 6: solid start. And I think that the words that he
- 24:12Speaker 6: continues to use, I think are accurate. I think they
- 24:14Speaker 6: do have to sort of start fresh and develop a
- 24:17Speaker 6: level of trust with one another.
- 24:19Speaker 7: Yeah, I think the big thing for that he always
- 24:22Speaker 7: one of the cliches he always says is that he's
- 24:24Speaker 7: going to run his race and hopefully everybody will run
- 24:27Speaker 7: behind him. And that's something that I think is really
- 24:29Speaker 7: important for this team right now, is that the quarterback
- 24:32Speaker 7: has to be the leader of the team. It can't
- 24:35Speaker 7: when he's a rookie in his first year in twenty
- 24:37Speaker 7: twenty one. Obviously, the veteran guys are going to be
- 24:40Speaker 7: the leaders of the team that aren't the quarterback, Devin
- 24:42Speaker 7: and Andrews and all those guys. Those guys are going
- 24:45Speaker 7: to but now it's year three, we're talking about a
- 24:48Speaker 7: team that doesn't have as many of those vet you know,
- 24:51Speaker 7: Devin mccordy's anymore. This team is going to go as
- 24:54Speaker 7: far as mac Jones takes them. And I think that
- 24:57Speaker 7: it's more than just him playing well, so needs to
- 25:00Speaker 7: walk it as well and act that way. And I
- 25:03Speaker 7: think the big thing that he mentioned was that all
- 25:07Speaker 7: of his teammates, the other ten guys on the field,
- 25:09Speaker 7: have to believe in him that he's going to make
- 25:11Speaker 7: the plays, that he's going to make the right throws
- 25:13Speaker 7: and the reads and all that kind of stuff. So
- 25:15Speaker 7: I like that he thinks that way. I like that
- 25:17Speaker 7: he that's that's how a franchise quarterback should think. Now
- 25:21Speaker 7: he just has to go out there and actually do it.
- 25:22Speaker 7: It's one thing to say it, and you got to
- 25:24Speaker 7: actually do it.
- 25:24Speaker 5: And it's and it's you know, kind of superficial stuff.
- 25:27Speaker 5: But he's still given everything he has in the sprints
- 25:30Speaker 5: at the end of practice, he's all, you know, is
- 25:32Speaker 5: right at the front of the line today when they
- 25:34Speaker 5: went to this drill that you know, we're watching now
- 25:36Speaker 5: right to the front of the line. So you know,
- 25:39Speaker 5: there's been growing pains with Max, certainly over the first
- 25:41Speaker 5: couple of years. But I just I find it hard
- 25:44Speaker 5: to ask him to do more than you know, what
- 25:46Speaker 5: he's done as far as hard work, as far as
- 25:48Speaker 5: jumping into line, is bringing energy every day he puts
- 25:51Speaker 5: the work, those things that you can't really criticize him for.
- 25:54Speaker 5: And you know, now it's it's it's kind of what
- 25:56Speaker 5: I said two years ago. It's maybe in the middle
- 25:59Speaker 5: of his rookie year. It's here's a kid who does
- 26:01Speaker 5: everything the right way as far as preparation. He seems engaged. Uh,
- 26:06Speaker 5: it's but can he can he do it? Can he
- 26:09Speaker 5: do it? Can he get to that level? And and
- 26:12Speaker 5: he's he's facing a league and a division right now.
- 26:14Speaker 5: That is as hard as it has ever been in
- 26:17Speaker 5: my memory. You know, back to the days of Dan
- 26:20Speaker 5: Marino and Jim Kelly being in the division against the Patriots,
- 26:22Speaker 5: and you know, you're trying to find your guy to compete,
- 26:25Speaker 5: which we finally got with you know, Paul's guy, Drew
- 26:27Speaker 5: Bledsoe at the end of their tenures with with Marino
- 26:29Speaker 5: and and and Marino down there and and Kelly and Buffalo.
- 26:33Speaker 5: So he will see the walk. He's up against it,
- 26:35Speaker 5: but he's doing everything right.
- 26:37Speaker 7: We'll see what happened. Yeah, you know, he walks the
- 26:38Speaker 7: walk on and off the field. And I think that's
- 26:41Speaker 7: why separate. You know, look, you have to be objective
- 26:43Speaker 7: in what in what you see. But that's why I
- 26:45Speaker 7: kind of pull for him because I think he really
- 26:47Speaker 7: does do all the little things that you want your
- 26:50Speaker 7: quarterback to do. We can here you know, on the
- 26:53Speaker 7: practice field, but also away from the facility or at
- 26:56Speaker 7: the facility in the I mean he was here all
- 26:58Speaker 7: off season, all off seat in working and working out
- 27:02Speaker 7: and throwing in the in the in the bubble and
- 27:04Speaker 7: like all that kind of stuff. So you just that
- 27:07Speaker 7: makes you want while I'm to succeed, it does, so.
- 27:10Speaker 5: I can I just bring up the I mean these drills.
- 27:12Speaker 5: It's always interesting to me. You know, they didn't do
- 27:14Speaker 5: these drills last year, Like you know, where do they
- 27:16Speaker 5: find these drills?
- 27:17Speaker 1: Like which one are you talking?
- 27:19Speaker 5: Just like specifically the one they started with where it's
- 27:21Speaker 5: you have the little fluorescent yellow cones right, you know,
- 27:23Speaker 5: every couple of yards and they were just you know,
- 27:25Speaker 5: kind of doing sprints over them. It's I mean, I
- 27:27Speaker 5: know that exercise science is such an evolving field, and
- 27:30Speaker 5: you know, the things that guys are doing today, you know,
- 27:32Speaker 5: in no way represent what was going on maybe even
- 27:34Speaker 5: ten years ago. But yeah, it's just interesting how you know,
- 27:36Speaker 5: like a lot of running. It feels like to me
- 27:39Speaker 5: early in camp, and I mean, is it Bill said
- 27:40Speaker 5: this morning? It's a continuation of OTAs, But it's always interesting,
- 27:44Speaker 5: like oh, we're gonna do little practice tweaks and then
- 27:46Speaker 5: you know this is something that they resurrect.
- 27:48Speaker 6: I'm just curious and this little slalom kind of course
- 27:51Speaker 6: that they have set up here too, like and I'm
- 27:53Speaker 6: just wondering why. And they have like these little poles
- 27:56Speaker 6: that that would be like almost like the slalom gates
- 27:58Speaker 6: and skiing. They start and they zigzag down the field
- 28:02Speaker 6: you know, for another you know, fifty yards, and I'm
- 28:05Speaker 6: just wondering why they can't cones down. I wonder if
- 28:07Speaker 6: this no I'm being like you're talking about like they
- 28:12Speaker 6: want they want back. There must be a reason why
- 28:14Speaker 6: they want something a little higher off.
- 28:16Speaker 1: The ground, that's right. They want to keep their feet
- 28:18Speaker 1: up up a.
- 28:19Speaker 5: Little maybe trying to bend the corner a little bit,
- 28:21Speaker 5: yeah around right.
- 28:22Speaker 7: I mean, you know, maybe for like a receiver corner
- 28:25Speaker 7: guy on special teams, but how often are you running
- 28:27Speaker 7: in a straight line on a football field.
- 28:29Speaker 6: Oh no, I'm not asking why the zig zagging. I'm
- 28:31Speaker 6: asking why they couldn't just put cones down on the ground.
- 28:34Speaker 6: They obviously want something a little higher that they're bending around.
- 28:37Speaker 5: Well, I think you see some of the guys kind
- 28:39Speaker 5: of dipping their shoulder.
- 28:40Speaker 6: Maybe it's to keep their feet under them so they
- 28:42Speaker 6: don't lose their footing, you know, like in the Super
- 28:44Speaker 6: Bowl everybody was falling. Yeah, no, I'm being serious.
- 28:47Speaker 5: It's interesting it won man.
- 28:49Speaker 7: You know, we've always talked about the Hills, right, and
- 28:51Speaker 7: the Hills being the vaunted Hills, being this conditioning thing
- 28:55Speaker 7: the Patriots do. But they've been doing this and I
- 28:58Speaker 7: don't think we've seen them go down to the hills
- 29:01Speaker 7: yet in the spring or yesterday.
- 29:03Speaker 6: They haven't done They haven't done a ton of hill.
- 29:04Speaker 6: They certainly didn't do it yesterday.
- 29:06Speaker 7: So I do wonder if maybe this is a new
- 29:09Speaker 7: Moses Cabrera and his staff saying that this is a
- 29:11Speaker 7: little bit of a of a different approach than than
- 29:14Speaker 7: the traditional hill running that they usually do.
- 29:16Speaker 5: Is that a Ronnie Perkins lap there, Paul, I'm not sure,
- 29:19Speaker 5: but it seems like he might have. Yeah, might have
- 29:21Speaker 5: taken a lap, perhaps, assuming that is him, I think
- 29:24Speaker 5: that's it.
- 29:26Speaker 6: But I think he's running to a different group.
- 29:28Speaker 7: Yeah, he's running back to where the defensive linemen are
- 29:30Speaker 7: working on.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Yeah, the Yates of Hell.
- 29:32Speaker 5: That Ronnie Perkins. I love that.
- 29:36Speaker 6: Yates of Hell's not bad.
- 29:37Speaker 9: I'm not bad.
- 29:38Speaker 5: I think that's a plus. I think it's a plus.
- 29:41Speaker 6: I like it.
- 29:43Speaker 5: I just think it's so hard to tell Ronnie Perkins
- 29:45Speaker 5: and key on white apart.
- 29:46Speaker 6: And I'm telling you Ronnie Perkins generally has something white
- 29:50Speaker 6: underneath this. He's always going to practice Jersey.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Did you guys mention the owners out here?
- 29:58Speaker 6: I don't think we did, but he is.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:00Speaker 6: I wrote it down in my notebook out you.
- 30:04Speaker 5: Know, I thought was a little interesting tidbit about from
- 30:06Speaker 5: Bill this morning and not as red hoodie, Paul, And
- 30:09Speaker 5: you think I'm gonna know.
- 30:09Speaker 6: You were very upset.
- 30:10Speaker 7: There was a lot of conversation.
- 30:11Speaker 6: I just give it before you give your before you
- 30:13Speaker 6: give your synopsis of it. I just want to let
- 30:16Speaker 6: everybody know that Mike had had had literally about thirty
- 30:19Speaker 6: seconds prior to Bill coming out, explain to me how
- 30:21Speaker 6: he's sort of cutting back a little bit on the tweeting,
- 30:25Speaker 6: you know, just feels like it's been a little bit.
- 30:26Speaker 6: There's one thing he's something that's really important. And then
- 30:30Speaker 6: all of a sudden, Bill comes out wearing a red
- 30:32Speaker 6: hoodie and man that I'm back on a tweet. Baby,
- 30:35Speaker 6: come out faster than.
- 30:36Speaker 5: I had a base update, must must. I don't track
- 30:40Speaker 5: the practices, but for you like twitching that he was well,
- 30:43Speaker 5: I mean, in fairness, even he's three and three all
- 30:46Speaker 5: time in red hoodies. But ohen one with the sleeve cut.
- 30:49Speaker 5: I think we all know. I don't know if you
- 30:50Speaker 5: were born yet, but but they lost that one. But no,
- 30:54Speaker 5: what I was gonna say was about Hunter Henry, and
- 30:55Speaker 5: I just I thought, uh, I thought Bill had, like
- 30:59Speaker 5: you know, really leagues. As far as Bill goes glowing praise,
- 31:02Speaker 5: I guess just for his offseason here every day, you know,
- 31:05Speaker 5: improving two touchdowns yesterday in the red zone. I just
- 31:09Speaker 5: think as much as we you know, are curious and
- 31:11Speaker 5: excited about Kasiki, I think you might really just see
- 31:14Speaker 5: a resurrection of the red zone offense, largely on Hunter
- 31:18Speaker 5: Henry and what he's able to do down there. You know, again,
- 31:22Speaker 5: a guy that he's been pretty healthy since he's been here.
- 31:24Speaker 5: I mean, he's he had the injury concerns a lot
- 31:26Speaker 5: early in his career, but he's you know, he's been
- 31:29Speaker 5: pretty reliable. So I think he's a he's a key guy. Yeah,
- 31:32Speaker 5: for the offense.
- 31:33Speaker 7: I mean, well, Bill Bryan is a wizard with the
- 31:35Speaker 7: tight ends. I mean everywhere wizards everywhere he goes, the
- 31:38Speaker 7: tight ends produced. I mean at Alabama he had Cameron
- 31:41Speaker 7: Lattu we both really liked in the draft, and Cameron
- 31:44Speaker 7: Lato is not the world's greatest athlete, Like we're not
- 31:47Speaker 7: talking about Kyle Pitts here, and he's still put up
- 31:49Speaker 7: receiving numbers under Bill O'Brien. So I think the big
- 31:53Speaker 7: thing though with the twelve personnel is that it's great
- 31:55Speaker 7: in theory from a passing game standpoint, but can they
- 31:58Speaker 7: run the ball out of that actively and can those
- 32:01Speaker 7: either one of those tight ends give them something as
- 32:03Speaker 7: an inline blocker to be able to make that a
- 32:06Speaker 7: truly efficient personnel grouping, Because I think what happened over
- 32:10Speaker 7: the last couple of years with Henry and John who
- 32:12Speaker 7: is that they weren't good on the field together, so
- 32:15Speaker 7: they kept on trying to do it, but because the
- 32:17Speaker 7: numbers weren't really good and the production wasn't really good,
- 32:20Speaker 7: they had to go away from it. So in order
- 32:21Speaker 7: for it to be a big part of it, it's
- 32:23Speaker 7: got to work. And I just that's the one hesitation
- 32:25Speaker 7: I have with it still is are they going to
- 32:28Speaker 7: be able to block it up in the running game
- 32:30Speaker 7: so that you can't get the tight ends running behind
- 32:32Speaker 7: the linebackers on play action and really start to spin
- 32:36Speaker 7: the dial on the defense and really start to use
- 32:39Speaker 7: those guys. But off the field too, big, really good
- 32:42Speaker 7: relationship between Mac Jones and Hunter Henry they were at
- 32:45Speaker 7: Taylor Swift together. Yeah, they they're they're close on and
- 32:49Speaker 7: off the field.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Yeah. One one of the things that is tried and
- 32:53Speaker 1: true of any practice is the sled that's never gone away.
- 32:57Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 32:57Speaker 5: I like watching Bill O'Brien keeping a close eye on it.
- 32:59Speaker 5: Kind of interesting.
- 33:00Speaker 1: It may look a little different, but you've always had
- 33:02Speaker 1: the sled as long as I know.
- 33:05Speaker 7: So is this sled pointed in a So this is
- 33:08Speaker 7: a straight on sled if I'm it looks like right
- 33:11Speaker 7: to me.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:12Speaker 7: So if they're teams that run zone systems, their sleds
- 33:16Speaker 7: are like tilted, the pad is like tilted a little
- 33:19Speaker 7: bit because they're stepping out and then hitting right. So
- 33:22Speaker 7: they they have different sleds adjustable.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's that's a good point.
- 33:28Speaker 5: So Evan, you said yesterday you didn't see a lot
- 33:30Speaker 5: of gap power, see more zone runs, RPOs, that kind
- 33:35Speaker 5: of stuff. Seems like what they're they're would you say
- 33:37Speaker 5: they're dabbling in the Bill O'Brien Alabama, Yeah, I.
- 33:41Speaker 7: Would say that Alabama. Alabama doesn't use a full back
- 33:45Speaker 7: or traditional full back. They did have a player that
- 33:47Speaker 7: was kind of like an h back type of player,
- 33:50Speaker 7: but they're they're mostly you know, look, they have the
- 33:54Speaker 7: mobile quarterbacks other than when they had Max, So that's
- 33:56Speaker 7: an element of why they were so zone heavy as well.
- 33:59Speaker 7: But they they run a lot of inside zone or
- 34:01Speaker 7: mid zone, so we're not talking about outside zone where
- 34:03Speaker 7: we're trying to get to the corner that they're still
- 34:05Speaker 7: going uphill or downhill I should say, in the middle
- 34:09Speaker 7: of the field, like they're not trying to get to
- 34:11Speaker 7: the edge. So it's similar to like a duo scheme,
- 34:14Speaker 7: which is a gap scheme, So it's not like it's
- 34:16Speaker 7: totally foreign or totally different than like a downhill power
- 34:19Speaker 7: rushing team. But typically speaking, the stuff that you see
- 34:23Speaker 7: like RPO is paired with is not always like you
- 34:26Speaker 7: can definitely pull a guard and run our PO that way.
- 34:29Speaker 7: But for the most part, you see RPO paired with zone,
- 34:32Speaker 7: with an inside zone in particular. So it's gonna be
- 34:35Speaker 7: interesting to see if that's that's where they're going with it.
- 34:38Speaker 7: But I don't think we've seen enough run game because
- 34:40Speaker 7: the pads haven't come on to truly be like, all right,
- 34:43Speaker 7: this is what they're gonna do. From a run game perspective.
- 34:46Speaker 7: They've kind of hit it honestly. Last year, remember out
- 34:49Speaker 7: in OTAs they were running outside zone like every other drill,
- 34:52Speaker 7: and it seems like they were doing something outside zone related.
- 34:56Speaker 7: They've played this one a little bit close to the
- 34:58Speaker 7: vest how exactly they're gonna they're gonna team it up
- 35:00Speaker 7: in the run game. So it's something to keep an
- 35:02Speaker 7: eye on.
- 35:02Speaker 6: Can I ask you guys yesterday, Sometimes I you know,
- 35:06Speaker 6: don't really notice all the details were a lot of
- 35:08Speaker 6: players wearing the protective caps that they have on today.
- 35:12Speaker 6: I think I know the linebackers, the receivers, the running backs,
- 35:16Speaker 6: there's certain both that I have to But did they
- 35:19Speaker 6: have They all had them on.
- 35:20Speaker 7: Yesterday, I think, so, Okay, there's certain trips now that
- 35:23Speaker 7: I believe it's the require.
- 35:24Speaker 1: The secondary is not wearing it. Line offensive offensive linemen are, yeah.
- 35:34Speaker 6: Have them on.
- 35:35Speaker 1: It's a mix.
- 35:35Speaker 6: And then the running backs have them on. Looks like
- 35:39Speaker 6: most of the I mean the tight ends have them on.
- 35:42Speaker 6: Linebackers I didn't. I don't know. I just I missed
- 35:45Speaker 6: it yesterday. I didn't notice them wearing them yesterday. We're
- 35:47Speaker 6: already used to them, I guess. Yeah, that's probably why.
- 35:51Speaker 7: Watching the US women's national team game last night. Oh yeah,
- 35:54Speaker 7: and they put a swim cap on a girl that
- 35:57Speaker 7: was in concussion protocol.
- 35:59Speaker 9: Really, I'd never see that that was a new one.
- 36:02Speaker 7: He's trying to like hold her brain.
- 36:03Speaker 6: In like district constricts.
- 36:04Speaker 1: The swelling.
- 36:05Speaker 6: Yeah, well they, I mean that's probably more advanced. They
- 36:10Speaker 6: have more experience with concussions than any other sports.
- 36:13Speaker 9: So that was it was.
- 36:15Speaker 7: It was the Dutch team, not the US team. The
- 36:18Speaker 7: Dutch trainers put a swim cap on the ground.
- 36:20Speaker 5: How was that game?
- 36:22Speaker 7: Not great? From a US perspective? Second half was much Well,
- 36:25Speaker 7: isn't that not to be?
- 36:27Speaker 6: I mean, I'm not by any means, I don't know,
- 36:30Speaker 6: but isn't that one of the very few teams.
- 36:31Speaker 7: Netherlands So they played another team in the final of
- 36:35Speaker 7: the last World Cup.
- 36:36Speaker 6: And I don't want to come off as like the
- 36:39Speaker 6: Arigan American, but isn't there like three teams that.
- 36:41Speaker 7: Yeah, the US not to get it to the whole
- 36:44Speaker 7: US women's national team thing, but they're in a little
- 36:47Speaker 7: bit of a transition right now. You know, some of
- 36:49Speaker 7: the Carly Lloyd's, Megan Rappinos, even Alex Morgan starting to
- 36:52Speaker 7: get up there a little bit in age, like those
- 36:55Speaker 7: the stars that that really led the last decade of
- 36:58Speaker 7: US women's national team soft they're they're turned to age out.
- 37:01Speaker 1: If we're going to talk about other sports, shout out
- 37:03Speaker 1: to my Red Sox taking two from the best team in.
- 37:05Speaker 6: The spanning really fun game to watch that. I don't
- 37:08Speaker 6: know if you caught.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Any that picture was mad they took him out?
- 37:11Speaker 6: Oh yeah, well yeah he was right. But those those
- 37:14Speaker 6: two guys and how many strives did six six six. Yeah,
- 37:18Speaker 6: they both really pitched well and it was fun to watch.
- 37:22Speaker 6: I tend I tend to watch the Bayol games because
- 37:27Speaker 6: the only guy.
- 37:29Speaker 5: I mean, Paul, do you notice the change in the
- 37:30Speaker 5: with the pitch clock? Is that made it an impact.
- 37:32Speaker 6: In your experience? Fired away more fun to watch.
- 37:35Speaker 5: I mean, I don't know if they've always done this,
- 37:37Speaker 5: but they cut the commercials like.
- 37:40Speaker 6: You've done that for like the last five ten years
- 37:42Speaker 6: they got it's maddening.
- 37:43Speaker 7: That shows I'm blue maybe maybe actually a little bit
- 37:46Speaker 7: better at this than we.
- 37:48Speaker 6: Yeah, I'll reserve judgment until I see them put a
- 37:51Speaker 6: reasonable facsimile of a contender on the field. But well,
- 37:55Speaker 6: just some of the young almost all of the young
- 37:57Speaker 6: guys weren't his, So that's.
- 37:59Speaker 5: The Yeah, that's.
- 38:01Speaker 7: A that's true. I guess I don't know. I mean
- 38:04Speaker 7: some of those guys, they they've developed though.
- 38:06Speaker 6: Like I would say, like, you give me more yushetas
- 38:09Speaker 6: and I'll say, hey, maybe this heim Bloom guy knows
- 38:11Speaker 6: a little bit more than what we're given credit for.
- 38:14Speaker 7: See what it hit the big thing for hem Bloom
- 38:16Speaker 7: and now we're really going off the rails.
- 38:19Speaker 6: Well, what kind of waiting for practice to start. Let's
- 38:21Speaker 6: be honest. Yeah, they want to give everybody a false side.
- 38:24Speaker 7: The guy that's going to get him fired or extended
- 38:27Speaker 7: as Marcella Meyer. If Meyer is as good as he
- 38:29Speaker 7: thinks he's going to be, then he'll then he'll be
- 38:32Speaker 7: in the job for the next ten years.
- 38:33Speaker 5: Positions he puts short.
- 38:35Speaker 7: And they're just vibing time with Yu Chang and Keike
- 38:38Speaker 7: Hernandez like just to wait until he's ready to play.
- 38:41Speaker 5: So they finally got rid of they traded. Yeah, back
- 38:44Speaker 5: to the Doyers. Yeah, yeah, what do you call the Doyers.
- 38:48Speaker 5: Doyers know a thing. Yeah, you have to be special.
- 38:53Speaker 5: I dabbled in some Dodger fandom briefly, but it didn't stick.
- 38:56Speaker 6: I've been to a Dodger game. Dodger said he used
- 38:58Speaker 6: to go.
- 38:58Speaker 7: To like when the Red Sox would go out there.
- 39:00Speaker 7: I could every game of the series. And that stadium
- 39:03Speaker 7: is fun. It's a fun stadium.
- 39:05Speaker 5: It's old, it's a giant.
- 39:07Speaker 6: It's old, but it is not. It is kind of
- 39:09Speaker 6: a fun place.
- 39:10Speaker 7: Red Sox take over that place. So I'll tell you
- 39:12Speaker 7: Red Sox fans, when those socks are out there, it's
- 39:14Speaker 7: like fifty fifth.
- 39:15Speaker 5: Red Sox Nation West Baby. Yeah, Sonny McLain's and Santa Mongo.
- 39:18Speaker 5: They put a whole group up there. Angels games too.
- 39:21Speaker 1: Same thing with the Patriots. Sonny mcclains gets packed for
- 39:24Speaker 1: when the Patriots are in town.
- 39:26Speaker 5: I used to Oh, yeah, that's the that's the Patriots
- 39:28Speaker 5: far Monica.
- 39:29Speaker 7: I didn't get to go because I was working, but
- 39:32Speaker 7: I h it was fun.
- 39:34Speaker 5: I tell you, they would always have they would have
- 39:37Speaker 5: free raffles there. You know, they're always making half time
- 39:39Speaker 5: they would do, you know, And I still have a
- 39:40Speaker 5: Patriots mug. I don't even know where they got the
- 39:43Speaker 5: stuff from.
- 39:43Speaker 9: But I went, like I think.
- 39:45Speaker 7: It was a preseason game where I had the night
- 39:47Speaker 7: off and it was like I was able to go
- 39:49Speaker 7: and watch the game.
- 39:50Speaker 1: I'll be interested to see what the Patriots turnout is
- 39:52Speaker 1: for the joint practices in Nashville and Green Bay.
- 39:55Speaker 7: Yeah. Gott in a couple of dms from people asking
- 39:57Speaker 7: like if those are going to be open to the public,
- 39:59Speaker 7: and like they live in the area and they want
- 40:01Speaker 7: to go, so I think there will be something.
- 40:03Speaker 5: Yeah, there was who was was was it Melvin?
- 40:07Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 40:09Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean Nashville obviously is a great destination.
- 40:11Speaker 1: So if you want to make you know, a few
- 40:13Speaker 1: days out of it, that would be a great good
- 40:15Speaker 1: take for Patriots fans. And you know Green Bay, you know,
- 40:19Speaker 1: with the history there. Uh, you know, that could be
- 40:22Speaker 1: a good take too. They've got their own little museum
- 40:24Speaker 1: and and so, uh, you know, wouldn't be a bad
- 40:27Speaker 1: little trip for Patriots fans. And obviously if you already
- 40:30Speaker 1: live in the area, you know, show up.
- 40:32Speaker 7: Oh yeah, yeah, what do you guys make of to
- 40:35Speaker 7: Mario Douglas two days in a row.
- 40:37Speaker 6: I actually was just that's what I just grabbed, bring
- 40:40Speaker 6: it back to thank you. But the funny thing I
- 40:43Speaker 6: find about this doesn't and it's just watched he watches,
- 40:49Speaker 6: you know. It's it's Kendrick one with the two tight
- 40:51Speaker 6: ends right now in in Montgomery and the backfield. You
- 40:53Speaker 6: got Juju watching. You got Pierre Strong and and DeVante Parker.
- 40:58Speaker 6: Those guys mix in occasionally, but Doug usually just kind
- 41:01Speaker 6: of stands, Yeah.
- 41:01Speaker 7: I want to see Douglas when the pads come on
- 41:04Speaker 7: and see if he's tiny, so is he going to
- 41:06Speaker 7: be able to physically hold up? But I know it
- 41:08Speaker 7: was at Liberty. I know you have to take that
- 41:10Speaker 7: with the grain of salt, but that college tape is phenomenal,
- 41:13Speaker 7: Like he is a really explosive player, really good route runner,
- 41:17Speaker 7: one of those guys that we always talk about it
- 41:20Speaker 7: creates separation, right and he's a true separator down the field.
- 41:24Speaker 7: So if it can translate for him at this level,
- 41:27Speaker 7: then I'm not gonna say he's going to be this
- 41:29Speaker 7: great player, but I think he's going to be an
- 41:31Speaker 7: NFL player if you can finish through the contact.
- 41:34Speaker 5: Evan, you haven't been torturing yourself watching a Flowers highlights
- 41:38Speaker 5: on the Ravens.
- 41:40Speaker 7: But to be fair, Tomorow Douglas's day three is eight.
- 41:44Speaker 7: I know, it's like that that's the guy, right that
- 41:46Speaker 7: And when they were at the Shine Bowl together, you know,
- 41:48Speaker 7: Zay Flowers was really complimentary to Mario Douglas and said
- 41:52Speaker 7: some really nice things about how they have similar games
- 41:54Speaker 7: and run similarly and are similarly as good down the field.
- 41:59Speaker 7: But I no, I refuse to watch, especially because he's
- 42:02Speaker 7: you know, Lamar and z Flowers like my fever dream.
- 42:05Speaker 5: And it sounds like Odell's having a pretty good camp
- 42:08Speaker 5: too good for the Braven's all right, But yeah, it
- 42:14Speaker 5: is interesting.
- 42:15Speaker 1: I mean does it seem like this portion of practice
- 42:18Speaker 1: is extended from yesterday, Like they got into seven on
- 42:21Speaker 1: Seven's a little quicker yesterday.
- 42:23Speaker 6: I didn't think sure, No, No, I thought this is
- 42:26Speaker 6: very similar to yesterday, only they're doing some different things,
- 42:30Speaker 6: you know, like as an example, in front of us
- 42:32Speaker 6: the prep work and special teams. Today appears like it's
- 42:35Speaker 6: going to be kick return. Yeah, Like they have some
- 42:39Speaker 6: some different blocking schemes that they're going over. So that's
- 42:42Speaker 6: all in preparation of what they're going to be doing.
- 42:44Speaker 6: But this is the kind of stuff they did yesterday
- 42:46Speaker 6: before they went to seven on seven's. Okay, how about
- 42:50Speaker 6: Devonte Parker anyone? You guys, it doesn't really seem to
- 42:54Speaker 6: be involved a whole lot in a lot of the
- 42:56Speaker 6: things they're doing. Right.
- 42:57Speaker 5: It's a big switch from last year where it felt
- 42:59Speaker 5: like the first couple this was the Devonte Parker contested
- 43:01Speaker 5: touchdown catch show. But I mean, I do think that
- 43:06Speaker 5: there's kind of an element emerging to me that Mac
- 43:09Speaker 5: is very uh enamored with the two tight ends, and
- 43:12Speaker 5: I think trying to get Hunter, Henry and Kasiki Uh
- 43:15Speaker 5: involved a lot. Maybe that's just a red zone thing,
- 43:16Speaker 5: but I mean like you know, like I just said,
- 43:18Speaker 5: though Parker's contested catch ability has been uh has been something.
- 43:22Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean this is that that grouping there was interesting.
- 43:25Speaker 7: You know, he had Juju and Born inside Parker on
- 43:29Speaker 7: the outside. Like that's probably what they envision it being
- 43:32Speaker 7: in week one if all the things are equal. I
- 43:34Speaker 7: just I still think Parker in terms of one on
- 43:37Speaker 7: one on the outside and his ability to make catches
- 43:40Speaker 7: along the sideline, make those contested jump ball catches, he's
- 43:44Speaker 7: still the best player on the team for that. Like,
- 43:45Speaker 7: he's still the best X receiver that they have. And
- 43:48Speaker 7: I until they upgrade that spot with an external addition,
- 43:52Speaker 7: he's going to be the guy. Then he's gonna play
- 43:54Speaker 7: a lot. Like we talked about this last year, just
- 43:56Speaker 7: how much he actually played when he was healthy, just
- 43:59Speaker 7: snapped wise, he's like an eighty five percent snap guy
- 44:02Speaker 7: something like that. And I don't see that. I think
- 44:04Speaker 7: that's gonna change.
- 44:05Speaker 6: That wasn't good run sick. He caught one of those
- 44:09Speaker 6: you know, it's funny. It was similar to the pass
- 44:11Speaker 6: that got picked off yctually. This one was higher. Yeah,
- 44:13Speaker 6: sort of caused him to leave his feet, get his
- 44:15Speaker 6: feet down and he ran.
- 44:16Speaker 5: Into the goalpost. Uh, he's okay, And.
- 44:19Speaker 6: That kind of threw his arms up like, oh, you're
- 44:22Speaker 6: good guy.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Yeah, we don't need that. She used the door a guy,
- 44:25Speaker 1: big optim padding around that. So we're good.
- 44:27Speaker 6: Nice, good job, Freddy.
- 44:31Speaker 5: Douglas Demoro Davison him, huh, that's.
- 44:34Speaker 7: Where he's going to play that inside slot position. Guy.
- 44:39Speaker 1: So just want to remind everybody that at some point
- 44:41Speaker 1: we're gonna have to turn off our cameras due to
- 44:44Speaker 1: rules in about three minutes or so, but we will
- 44:47Speaker 1: continue with our coverage audio only, but we'll be here
- 44:51Speaker 1: right until the end of practice giving you everything that we.
- 44:53Speaker 6: See because we're getting a look at that group that
- 44:55Speaker 6: we've been talking about a little bit there. And you
- 44:58Speaker 6: did see Douglas get get a rep on the previous.
- 45:02Speaker 5: Play, like might get another one right now, but just.
- 45:04Speaker 6: Talking and he's out there again. So I do find
- 45:07Speaker 6: I don't think those kinds of things are by accident. Yeah,
- 45:10Speaker 6: you know, I don't think those kinds of accidental.
- 45:13Speaker 5: He just caught a touchdown from that one for one touchdown.
- 45:16Speaker 6: You know, every other guy in that group I would say,
- 45:19Speaker 6: you know, you hesitate to say everything is a lock,
- 45:21Speaker 6: but every other guy in that group is a frontline
- 45:24Speaker 6: player and he's there, So I think I.
- 45:27Speaker 7: Think this gets me a little excited.
- 45:29Speaker 6: This reason, this reason to believe that they see something.
- 45:31Speaker 7: Because he's talented, he's got speed, he's got separation ability,
- 45:35Speaker 7: he can do some of the little gadget things that
- 45:37Speaker 7: they did with Marcus Jones last year, but he can
- 45:39Speaker 7: also went down the field with his route running. And
- 45:42Speaker 7: if he's somebody that they really feel like is getting it,
- 45:45Speaker 7: and then we can see that translated into actually, you know,
- 45:48Speaker 7: physically doing it on the field, and that's that's great news.
- 45:51Speaker 5: I mean, I'm not I haven't really gotten the true
- 45:53Speaker 5: sense of juju yet, but you just see there's so
- 45:56Speaker 5: many long striders on this offense. I mean Devonte Parker
- 45:59Speaker 5: long Strider, Kausiki long Strider Hunter, Henry long Strider. Douglas
- 46:04Speaker 5: stands out to me with just that the quickness, you know,
- 46:07Speaker 5: you can you can see it already. I'd love to
- 46:09Speaker 5: see a little bit of Juju in that too, But
- 46:11Speaker 5: he's a bigger dude.
- 46:13Speaker 7: Everybody like lose guys at that level at the you
- 46:16Speaker 7: know the Liberty teams that Liberty would play, I mean
- 46:19Speaker 7: like turning guys around like tops and like they're just
- 46:23Speaker 7: five yards away from him. Afterwards, he's got some real,
- 46:26Speaker 7: real burst and that quickness is definitely there.
- 46:29Speaker 5: Yeah, we'll see what. Meanwhile, Kishan Booty down here with the.
- 46:34Speaker 6: Like Cunningham ed Lee booty.
- 46:38Speaker 5: You just wonder Well, it's like a guy like Trey Nixon, right,
- 46:41Speaker 5: Like everybody rides Tray Nixon like hype train, and you
- 46:44Speaker 5: know here we are train. Nixon is not the one
- 46:46Speaker 5: who's getting you know, the the I don't know what
- 46:49Speaker 5: you call it.
- 46:49Speaker 6: Nixon was unquestionably the player of the Spring last year.
- 46:53Speaker 1: All right, well, cameras are down, it's good time for

- 50:00Speaker 1: All right, back here in Patriots training camp, high above
- 50:02Speaker 1: the practice fields, it's Fred Kurz, Paul Perrillo, Mike Dussau,
- 50:05Speaker 1: and Evan Lazarre and uh, we're giving you everything that
- 50:09Speaker 1: we see because you can't anymore. So we'll be your
- 50:12Speaker 1: eyes for the duration of training camp. Right now, the
- 50:16Speaker 1: Patriots are in Special Teams session.
- 50:20Speaker 6: Yeah, it looks like they're getting started and kick return
- 50:25Speaker 6: is the focus today. We're seeing Marcus Jones and Kyle Duggart,
- 50:28Speaker 6: Mike Guy, Kyle Duggart. They'll never let him do it,
- 50:30Speaker 6: but he's back there. Ty Montgomery taking some and one
- 50:33Speaker 6: of the rookies, Micah Isaiah Bolden. You said he's he
- 50:37Speaker 6: was really good and he had that he had that knack. Ye,
- 50:40Speaker 6: so you never know, little triperation, a little short kick.
- 50:50Speaker 7: He says he had some sort of Bolden of course
- 50:52Speaker 7: I should know this, but he had some sort of
- 50:54Speaker 7: like college record for kick returns. I think his average
- 50:57Speaker 7: or something like that, that he was really effective kick returner.
- 51:01Speaker 5: Can anybody be an effective kick returner in this NFL
- 51:05Speaker 5: other than Cordello Patterson?
- 51:07Speaker 1: Well, I'll be interested to see what the strategy is
- 51:10Speaker 1: here now that they have the fair catch? You know,
- 51:15Speaker 1: will teams do the fair catch or will they return it?
- 51:19Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 51:19Speaker 7: I don't think Cordell Patterson, you know, I think it
- 51:23Speaker 7: depends on the If you remember when they had like
- 51:25Speaker 7: Brandon Bolden do it for a while, Like if you
- 51:27Speaker 7: have somebody like that back.
- 51:28Speaker 5: There, right that was like we're just we don't even care.
- 51:30Speaker 7: If you have a difference maker, I think you gotta
- 51:33Speaker 7: go for it.
- 51:34Speaker 5: I think it's always too interesting to me with these
- 51:36Speaker 5: like special team sessions. The one thing I do enjoy
- 51:38Speaker 5: about them is just getting a sense of who's got
- 51:42Speaker 5: the the you know, the the the angle on a
- 51:45Speaker 5: roster spot with who's you know, the top special teams
- 51:47Speaker 5: guys those are you know, that's a competition that'll that
- 51:50Speaker 5: will happen this year. A lot of rookies, new guys.
- 51:54Speaker 5: There's a lot of special teams, gunners, options, vice guys
- 51:58Speaker 5: all that.
- 51:58Speaker 6: Yeah, that's a good point because you know you take
- 52:01Speaker 6: those two late round corners and speed and bolding, and
- 52:05Speaker 6: then you have some like second year guys like Schooler
- 52:10Speaker 6: and Mitchell, and you know you start adding well, yeah,
- 52:13Speaker 6: you start adding them all up, and you're like, well,
- 52:15Speaker 6: only so many of those guys can be sort of
- 52:18Speaker 6: on the roster, you know, And here you go, Freddie,
- 52:21Speaker 6: We're gonna get started with some seven seven seven.
- 52:24Speaker 1: Start with Mac.
- 52:25Speaker 5: Yeah, eleven personnel, Kasiki and Juju.
- 52:28Speaker 7: So they got born Marcus Jones out there. Gonzales like,
- 52:32Speaker 7: this is the group that I hope is the group
- 52:35Speaker 7: in the secondary that emerges.
- 52:39Speaker 1: Well not not good first pass over the back of
- 52:43Speaker 1: the end zone, more of a throwaway than anything else.
- 52:45Speaker 7: Good coverage by Christian Gonzalez.
- 52:47Speaker 6: Yeah, he had a Juju blanketed.
- 52:50Speaker 5: I mean, this is these pactice sessions. Like I don't
- 52:52Speaker 5: want to overreact to Christian Gonzalez being able to be
- 52:54Speaker 5: out there because this is like meant for him with
- 52:56Speaker 5: how athletic he is, but you know, he just he
- 52:58Speaker 5: does look like he's comfortable at least to start.
- 53:01Speaker 7: I mean, he plays his leverage great already, Like you
- 53:04Speaker 7: just see his body positioning and how he just was
- 53:06Speaker 7: on the outside of Juju's hit because he knew that
- 53:09Speaker 7: he had the safety inside to help and he's already
- 53:11Speaker 7: got a good feel for that sort of thing. And
- 53:14Speaker 7: we obviously know he's really athletic.
- 53:15Speaker 5: So and there it is.
- 53:19Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm not sure he was in bounds.
- 53:20Speaker 5: And but DeVante Parker, but you know that, I mean
- 53:23Speaker 5: right there on Marcus John Marcus Jones we talked about yesterday. Yeah,
- 53:27Speaker 5: it's a tough one for him.
- 53:28Speaker 6: I thought Marcus Jones actually had pretty good coverage. Yeah,
- 53:30Speaker 6: I'm not sure he was in bounds.
- 53:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't think he was.
- 53:33Speaker 6: And this is noteworthy, I think for Marcus Jones because
- 53:36Speaker 6: I don't think he got a ton of you know,
- 53:39Speaker 6: we know that we're not calling it first team whatever,
- 53:42Speaker 6: but this is a group that it's it's Gonzales and
- 53:45Speaker 6: Jonathan Jones, like yesterday it's Adrian Phillips and Kyle Duggart
- 53:48Speaker 6: with Marcus Jones. You know that's a those are high
- 53:51Speaker 6: level reps for him.
- 53:52Speaker 5: Yep, same thing missed.
- 53:58Speaker 6: Yeah, a lot of timing stuff they're trying to work
- 54:00Speaker 6: on here. Back corner stuff again. You know, you're you're
- 54:04Speaker 6: operating from the five yard line, not a lot of
- 54:06Speaker 6: room to sort of operate and being you have to.
- 54:10Speaker 6: I think you're kind of scheme reliant on some of
- 54:12Speaker 6: the passing game things down here. I think it's so
- 54:14Speaker 6: work in progress.
- 54:15Speaker 5: Yeah, I'd say my my my thing with Gonzales is
- 54:18Speaker 5: is what's it look like when the pads come on?
- 54:20Speaker 5: You know, and even more so, like what's it look
- 54:23Speaker 5: like when tackling has to happen? Because that was you know,
- 54:25Speaker 5: kind of the knock on him of you know, he's
- 54:27Speaker 5: not the most overly physical tackler guy. I mean, he's
- 54:30Speaker 5: got good size, but really it's it's all about athleticism
- 54:33Speaker 5: and speed for him, which, like, let's face it, you
- 54:35Speaker 5: rather have that than than the physicality. But we'll see
- 54:38Speaker 5: how he does when the pads come on.
- 54:40Speaker 6: Yeah, now that one, that one broke open. Uh KASICKI
- 54:45Speaker 6: was wide open between Gonzales and in Duggar, and unfortunately
- 54:48Speaker 6: for Mac, I think he was looking the other way
- 54:51Speaker 6: to the time.
- 54:51Speaker 5: The other way yeah, I mean it. I mean what
- 54:53Speaker 5: all three passes went to the to the back right
- 54:55Speaker 5: corner of the end zone, so maybe maybe they're working
- 54:57Speaker 5: on something specific down there also.
- 55:00Speaker 7: Just with Gonzalez, like once we get to the joints and
- 55:03Speaker 7: Christian Watson and Romeo Dobbs and then you know Hopkins
- 55:07Speaker 7: and uh and uh Treylon Burks. I know, I'm taking
- 55:11Speaker 7: a lot of shots at the Patriots receivers, but at
- 55:14Speaker 7: least that's like a little bit of a of a
- 55:16Speaker 7: test for him.
- 55:17Speaker 1: It'll be full speedy.
- 55:20Speaker 6: He definitely broke open, but the throw was a little late,
- 55:23Speaker 6: and then Jack Jones did a nice job of playing
- 55:26Speaker 6: catch up Douglas being Mike Sky. If people haven't figured.
- 55:29Speaker 7: That out, I'm playing it on the throw it is late.
- 55:32Speaker 6: Yeah, the throw is definitely late, no doubt. And that
- 55:35Speaker 6: was Zappi, by the way, who's coming in after the
- 55:37Speaker 6: first the first foard to Mac Jones and now this
- 55:39Speaker 6: one to Zappi with a different group of players, you have,
- 55:45Speaker 6: is it Booty Douglas looks like Nicky Nixon.
- 55:50Speaker 7: For whatever it's worth, Like Zappi has not taken a
- 55:53Speaker 7: single rep with a regular receiving group, Like it's it's
- 55:58Speaker 7: all those reps have one.
- 56:00Speaker 1: There's a nice touchdown for Yeah, she's good, passed by
- 56:04Speaker 1: ZAPPI socle high pointed it.
- 56:07Speaker 6: Over Jalen Mills, by the way, so not like uh.
- 56:10Speaker 1: You know, it was in a crowd.
- 56:11Speaker 6: Defensively, it's a little different. You got Jack Jones, you
- 56:14Speaker 6: got Adrian Phillips now still out there with with Mills.
- 56:19Speaker 6: So like defensively they have I would say a higher
- 56:22Speaker 6: level of player than than offense right now. So that's
- 56:25Speaker 6: that's a good win for the offense.
- 56:26Speaker 5: It seems mostly Mills. It's safety. I I I wonder
- 56:29Speaker 5: if he might be a little bit on the bubble,
- 56:32Speaker 5: no matter how much Like he's got good versatility and
- 56:34Speaker 5: that's worth a lot. But you know, in a perfect
- 56:38Speaker 5: booty Boody gets a catch and gets away from Jack
- 56:42Speaker 5: Jones gets in. Now, I just wonder if if one
- 56:45Speaker 5: of the young guys were to emerge, if if a
- 56:46Speaker 5: Josh bledsoe you know, we're to emerge and and you know,
- 56:50Speaker 5: bring more of a ceiling than than Jalen Mills has,
- 56:54Speaker 5: if he might be on the way out. So obviously
- 56:56Speaker 5: they redid his contract this year.
- 56:57Speaker 1: So so in the receiving corps or you know group
- 57:00Speaker 1: that they have now, who would be your surprise person
- 57:03Speaker 1: who makes the team.
- 57:04Speaker 7: Firkser, I mean that it feels like the third tight
- 57:08Speaker 7: end is the guy that is the most wide open
- 57:11Speaker 7: job out of all of it. I do like Lumpkin,
- 57:14Speaker 7: you know, I you can block, but I.
- 57:17Speaker 5: Would say Kevin Harrison ie little catch and.
- 57:19Speaker 7: You know Kevin Harris can make the team. They don't
- 57:21Speaker 7: have enough backs unless they signed off a cook, they
- 57:24Speaker 7: don't have enough backs. I think to cut him. But
- 57:26Speaker 7: I think that third tight end spots. It is interesting
- 57:29Speaker 7: because you know last year they only kept two. They
- 57:31Speaker 7: kept Johnny and Hunter Henry. Two years ago they had
- 57:33Speaker 7: the full back, so that was three I think technically,
- 57:37Speaker 7: so I don't know if they'll only carry two again.
- 57:39Speaker 7: I think I one of these guys might be able
- 57:42Speaker 7: to get a roster spot.
- 57:44Speaker 1: But what about wide receiver.
- 57:46Speaker 5: I mean, it seems like Douglass right now would be
- 57:48Speaker 5: the be the favorite that at You got to see
- 57:52Speaker 5: if one of these other guys, if ed Lee or
- 57:54Speaker 5: any of those guys.
- 57:55Speaker 6: Can McSorley is out there now. He jammed one into
- 58:02Speaker 6: Montgomery and tight coverage. You know it's possible they only
- 58:07Speaker 6: keep four receivers too. I mean, they could go heavy
- 58:10Speaker 6: on tight ends if they feel like the better players there.
- 58:13Speaker 6: But you know, you also have that sixteen man practice
- 58:17Speaker 6: squad where you can sort of mix and match your
- 58:20Speaker 6: personnel that way. I don't know where, you know, where
- 58:23Speaker 6: does a guy like Scotty Washington is he Is he
- 58:25Speaker 6: on this radar at all? Or Rally Webb, these guys
- 58:28Speaker 6: that played some special teams. In Washington's case, you know,
- 58:32Speaker 6: he's sort of behind. He's a little, uh, little hybrid
- 58:37Speaker 6: kind of player.
- 58:38Speaker 7: Montgomery, he's all right, thoughts get that, man, I don't
- 58:43Speaker 7: know that the practice squad flexibility is and you were
- 58:46Speaker 7: talking about third tight ends and fifth and six receivers.
- 58:51Speaker 7: It does give them a ton of flexibility. And you
- 58:53Speaker 7: do look at guys like Firks here Scotty Washington, like
- 58:57Speaker 7: those guys probably would make it back to the practice squad.
- 58:59Speaker 9: Let's huge preseasons.
- 59:01Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean maybe Ferks are, but you like Scottie Washington,
- 59:04Speaker 6: Rally Webb, those kinds of circle you're gonna get more
- 59:08Speaker 6: than likely you're gonna get those guys to the practice
- 59:09Speaker 6: squad if you want to.
- 59:10Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I gotta admit, you know, everybody loves
- 59:13Speaker 5: to do fifty three man rosters twenty seven versions of them,
- 59:15Speaker 5: But like, I don't find it that hard to do
- 59:17Speaker 5: a fifty three man roster right now, because any fifty
- 59:20Speaker 5: three man roster that you put together, you're probably gonna
- 59:22Speaker 5: have to make some kind of leap of a random
- 59:25Speaker 5: guy that made a jump that you haven't seen yet,
- 59:27Speaker 5: you know. And that's kind of what I'm waiting for
- 59:29Speaker 5: in camp, is like, who are gonna be these random
- 59:31Speaker 5: guys that step up that we that we haven't really talked.
- 59:33Speaker 5: I mean, Douglas possibly is is you know, the first
- 59:36Speaker 5: one to maybe ping the radar a little bit of
- 59:39Speaker 5: of somebody who might get the opportunity with the top
- 59:41Speaker 5: group to show what he can do.
- 59:42Speaker 6: But like yesterday, now this is going high red zone
- 59:46Speaker 6: now a little bit more out by the twenty and.
- 59:52Speaker 7: Two versus one.
- 59:53Speaker 6: This is full, This is full team. This is kind
- 59:55Speaker 6: of what they did yesterday a little bit, and they
- 59:56Speaker 6: did a lot of running in this situation yesterday. Yeah,
- 1:00:01Speaker 6: this is definitely you're right.
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: I think I heard your Parker comment Paul.
- 1:00:06Speaker 6: Jos versus ones and it just and it's designed to
- 1:00:08Speaker 6: be completed yeah.
- 1:00:10Speaker 7: Looked like therefore just gave up, gave up, just give up.
- 1:00:15Speaker 9: It's a little bit. It just gave up. Got these
- 1:00:17Speaker 9: couple of days, they're just they're hard.
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: Let's take mister and.
- 1:00:21Speaker 6: You know, and building said it before practice like so
- 1:00:24Speaker 6: someone someone, Yeah, it's just it's just the same that
- 1:00:26Speaker 6: we were doing. It's not I know, we're all excited
- 1:00:30Speaker 6: because we're all looking forward to the next step, you know.
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: But as soon as you start camp, you're like, all right,
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: still ramping it up. Well, it took me the fall
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: start and lap. Oh all right, that's in the blogs.
- 1:00:44Speaker 6: Uh but yes it will.
- 1:00:49Speaker 5: No lap and oh no, he's going he's maybe he
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: could use it a chance to hit the crowd up
- 1:00:57Speaker 5: a little bit.
- 1:00:58Speaker 7: So that was throws a little bit off or late.
- 1:01:01Speaker 7: I but Juju just dusted whoever that was up the seam.
- 1:01:05Speaker 7: And those are the types of throwers him in the
- 1:01:08Speaker 7: middle of the in the middle of the field, you know,
- 1:01:11Speaker 7: in that slot position, that's where he's He hasn't moved
- 1:01:14Speaker 7: really from that smell.
- 1:01:15Speaker 6: I agree, that's been not noticeable. Most of his most
- 1:01:19Speaker 6: of his reps absolutely have mm hmm.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: Mac still behind center.
- 1:01:29Speaker 7: It's a decent amount of twelve personnel here.
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: Yeah, circle.
- 1:01:35Speaker 9: Mac MHM, circle Circle triple.
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: Maybe Socle. I know Socle has some fans on the
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: social media team as well.
- 1:01:49Speaker 7: Everybody's gonna write practice Player of the Day Matt Socle.
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: Of offense Circle Take day two. That could be the title.
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: You gotta watch some more of the defense. It does
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: seem like Marcus Jones is getting a little bit more.
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: I think there's been a top line run today. That's
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: probably think it's been a.
- 1:02:07Speaker 6: Bit of an elevation day for him. After you guys said,
- 1:02:10Speaker 6: you know, more of a cornerback.
- 1:02:15Speaker 5: I just think you're right. Everything again, everything we talked
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: about with him, just and we saw it. There's tomorrow, Doug,
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: this nice little say.
- 1:02:22Speaker 7: That's those a little quick twitch underneath routes.
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: Not enough of that.
- 1:02:26Speaker 7: They don't they don't have that guy.
- 1:02:27Speaker 5: And he was maybe they do have that guy. Maybe
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: they do, But I just you know, I and I
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: say it with about Marcus Jones, is that like coming out.
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: I thought one of his best skills was his ability
- 1:02:40Speaker 5: to just athletically match guys in man coverage and just
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: stick with guys. But it doesn't really matter if you're
- 1:02:45Speaker 5: sticking with him and you're only up to their you know,
- 1:02:48Speaker 5: to their chest, you know, and they're gonna put the
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: ball over your head.
- 1:02:50Speaker 7: So this is a ZAPPI rep with some of the
- 1:02:53Speaker 7: with the regular skill players, Jew and Born, Pierre Strong,
- 1:02:59Speaker 7: David Andrew. This is this is a one rep for
- 1:03:03Speaker 7: zapp Wide Open Checkdown.
- 1:03:07Speaker 6: It was a bit of a breakdown there. I would say, yeah,
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: I don't want to get too technical.
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: Oh no, oh boy, big collision. Forty four is up
- 1:03:16Speaker 5: and okay, and Jack Jones is okay too.
- 1:03:18Speaker 6: But oh I that was not good for Rally Web.
- 1:03:22Speaker 5: Yeah, Rolly Webb and Jack Jones.
- 1:03:24Speaker 7: That was even a big hit. Even if Pat's right
- 1:03:26Speaker 7: like that's a big training camp hit.
- 1:03:28Speaker 5: I think that was almost more of a collision. Yeah,
- 1:03:31Speaker 5: it wasn't clarified.
- 1:03:33Speaker 6: They ran into each other. It wasn't a hit.
- 1:03:35Speaker 5: Jack Jones is not trying to Rodney Harrison anybody out
- 1:03:37Speaker 5: here today.
- 1:03:38Speaker 7: Not yet.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: I remember It's okay.
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: I gotta say though, can I just say real quick,
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: I think Trace mcstory is pretty rough out there, man.
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: I when we've been watching his reps like it's it's
- 1:03:50Speaker 5: he's pretty bad.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: He's he's inaccurate, it's like.
- 1:03:55Speaker 5: Maybe maybe we got to pull back on those reps
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: a little bit. Definitely a camp arms for sure, and
- 1:04:00Speaker 5: then it's it's just perfect.
- 1:04:07Speaker 7: I remember in college and Marcus Jones against Calvin Austin.
- 1:04:11Speaker 7: That was like the big tape for both those guys.
- 1:04:13Speaker 7: And Calvin Austin got him a couple of times, but
- 1:04:15Speaker 7: he got Calvin Austin if you he was you know,
- 1:04:17Speaker 7: real heavyweight, back and forth type of thing, and those
- 1:04:20Speaker 7: you know, Calvin Austin is one of those guys that
- 1:04:22Speaker 7: we were talking about yesterday. It's a speedy slot, you know,
- 1:04:25Speaker 7: undersized slot receiver. And if that's if they can make
- 1:04:29Speaker 7: sure that Marcus Jones is only matched up against those
- 1:04:31Speaker 7: types of receivers, I know, I don't think it's a problem.
- 1:04:34Speaker 5: And I mean I mentioned it yesterday, but I mean
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: it's just what stood out to me with it just
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: seemed like classic Josh McDaniels last year, where on that
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: last drive that they had, it was Mac Collins on
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: Marcus Jones.
- 1:04:45Speaker 6: Mac.
- 1:04:45Speaker 5: I mean they I think they went to him three
- 1:04:47Speaker 5: times including the touchdown. You know, that's the kind of
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: thing where as an offensive coordinator, you see that if
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: I got a big receiver. If I've got Devontae Parker,
- 1:04:57Speaker 5: you know that's got contested catch in the back corner
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: of the endzone written all over.
- 1:05:04Speaker 6: And now they're working their way back where they were
- 1:05:07Speaker 6: yesterday in the red zone, down down, closer to the
- 1:05:09Speaker 6: five yard line.
- 1:05:10Speaker 5: Still still zapp in there, baby steps, Yeah, still zap.
- 1:05:14Speaker 7: You're right, says some real run with the ones for
- 1:05:18Speaker 7: for baileysapp.
- 1:05:19Speaker 6: Henry, it's Born, it's Montgomery, it's Parker, absolutely Trump Brown,
- 1:05:25Speaker 6: Bill Murray, of course. Yeah, the line is the same, right.
- 1:05:29Speaker 5: Yeah, yep, eighty five.
- 1:05:35Speaker 6: What do you make of Bill Bill Murray? Like?
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: Is that?
- 1:05:38Speaker 6: Is that a bad sign that none of the rookies
- 1:05:40Speaker 6: have impressed.
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: Enough to can I can we check back on like
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: day five. I think Bill Murray is still there on
- 1:05:47Speaker 5: day five. I mean, I don't want to slight Bill Murray.
- 1:05:49Speaker 6: May that's the right answer. I think I think he
- 1:05:51Speaker 6: gave the right answer. Yeah, it's okay, Yeah, I mean
- 1:05:55Speaker 6: I am.
- 1:05:55Speaker 5: I mean, Bill Murray is one of my guys. I
- 1:05:57Speaker 5: have to say the fifty year practice squad, right your jump.
- 1:06:00Speaker 5: But I mean I think I said at the top
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: of the show, I always feel like sometimes with this stuff,
- 1:06:05Speaker 5: and it would be like an example be Hey, you know,
- 1:06:08Speaker 5: the first day of practice, you got these rookie running backs,
- 1:06:10Speaker 5: but Brandon Bolden's out there taking the first reps. It's like,
- 1:06:13Speaker 5: I feel like early in camp they like to put
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: guys out there who kind of know what they're doing
- 1:06:17Speaker 5: to at least set the baseline and then you know,
- 1:06:19Speaker 5: when it does become about competition, then maybe those guys
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: will make a push. I mean, you know, you'd love
- 1:06:24Speaker 5: to see Mafi get in there and start getting some
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: run with those with those ones, that'd be you know,
- 1:06:28Speaker 5: a good sign, especially unfortunately for Michael and Wenu. If
- 1:06:32Speaker 5: you know, if he were to have to start the
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: season on pup they got that. That's another big question mark.
- 1:06:35Speaker 5: Who's gonna play there? I mean, I don't think anybody,
- 1:06:38Speaker 5: especially we talked about Connor McDermott and you know in
- 1:06:40Speaker 5: Riley Reef at right tackle. How do you feel about
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: Bill Murray at right guard? I mean, that's that's that's
- 1:06:45Speaker 5: another one. Holds your breath and see how it goes.
- 1:06:47Speaker 7: Yeah, I definitely think that you would like to see
- 1:06:49Speaker 7: Antonio Maffi be the guy there. I just I think
- 1:06:54Speaker 7: he's got the most translatable skill set to what they
- 1:06:56Speaker 7: ask for out of their right guards. And he looks exactly.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: Up. We lost seven.
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: I have you though, did you lose a battery, Evan?
- 1:07:07Speaker 5: Not the dead battery, it could be.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: Faith. Do we have any batteries?
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: I think Evan might need batteries, Faith And in case
- 1:07:21Speaker 6: you are all wondering, yes, he is a machine, so
- 1:07:23Speaker 6: he needs he needs batteries charged, Evan.
- 1:07:27Speaker 5: Plug him in. We got Mac back in there now.
- 1:07:30Speaker 6: Yeah, a lot of tight stuff, you know, heavy play action,
- 1:07:35Speaker 6: you know, looking looking to leak the tight ends out.
- 1:07:37Speaker 6: There was one nice connection there.
- 1:07:39Speaker 5: Who was that eighty eight? Sicky?
- 1:07:44Speaker 6: It's a good throw.
- 1:07:45Speaker 5: That was a nice one from Mac. There today we
- 1:07:50Speaker 5: still got yeah, we still got all the back line.
- 1:07:55Speaker 5: Plug him in. Uh yeah, that's still the same.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: Still the first crew with back then that offensive line has.
- 1:08:04Speaker 5: Not a lot of reps. A Mario Douglas back back
- 1:08:11Speaker 5: to Pats.
- 1:08:13Speaker 9: Hunter Henry little jet motion for to Mario Douglas.
- 1:08:17Speaker 7: There.
- 1:08:17Speaker 5: You know, it looks a lot better when you got
- 1:08:18Speaker 5: a little quick guy running the jet motion instead of
- 1:08:20Speaker 5: one of the big plotters.
- 1:08:21Speaker 6: You know, Harry, what if you think TK Metcalp is
- 1:08:26Speaker 6: better than Kennil Harry, You're an idiot.
- 1:08:28Speaker 9: I think is he still available? And he worked out
- 1:08:31Speaker 9: with the Bears.
- 1:08:34Speaker 6: I think it was the Bears be well, I don't
- 1:08:38Speaker 6: think he'd cut him. He was free year.
- 1:08:42Speaker 7: No, maybe maybe it was nikkil Harry formerly of the
- 1:08:45Speaker 7: Bears were I don't know what he.
- 1:08:47Speaker 6: Definitely he was. That was the last year of his
- 1:08:49Speaker 6: contract when we got rid of him.
- 1:08:50Speaker 7: Right.
- 1:08:51Speaker 5: Did Chad Jackson ever do anything? Everything anywhere else? He
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: was the same thing.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: Just what a bust he huh?
- 1:08:57Speaker 5: I mean, both guys look like absolute adonis.
- 1:09:00Speaker 6: It's like, I mean, just cut from stone Chad Jackson.
- 1:09:04Speaker 6: I was on the Chad Jackson bandwagon. I'll have to
- 1:09:06Speaker 6: admit that when he went before he saw him play,
- 1:09:08Speaker 6: or when he was here on the practice field, I was.
- 1:09:11Speaker 6: I was in. I thought I thought they had two
- 1:09:14Speaker 6: really good skill guys in Maroney and Jackson that year.
- 1:09:17Speaker 6: They looked great in the camps in the spring, and
- 1:09:20Speaker 6: they never really materialized.
- 1:09:22Speaker 5: What was up with many? He was good, he had
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: his games had I mean it was a two thousand
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: and seven ANFC championship game. I always give him a
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: lot of credit for.
- 1:09:30Speaker 6: But he was really good in the playoffs.
- 1:09:31Speaker 5: I always liked how he ran, you know, I just
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: you think he ran hard and I never quite got
- 1:09:36Speaker 5: what the what the disconnect was with him, Like why
- 1:09:38Speaker 5: he couldn't get to.
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: The pity exactly. Yeah, yeah, that was his thing. Not
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: decisive enough, but he It's a.
- 1:09:49Speaker 7: When girl was talking yesterday about receivers and he was
- 1:09:53Speaker 7: asked about the number one receiver thing, and he did
- 1:09:56Speaker 7: give a really cool answer, extensive answer about what they
- 1:09:59Speaker 7: view and number one receiver as. And we're kind of
- 1:10:02Speaker 7: talking about this yesterday and just the body types of
- 1:10:04Speaker 7: the guys that they have draft. At the top of
- 1:10:05Speaker 7: the draft, they're trying to check so many boxes right,
- 1:10:09Speaker 7: Like they're like, the number one receiver is a guy
- 1:10:11Speaker 7: that can get open on his own, that can play
- 1:10:13Speaker 7: inside and outside, that preferably can also add something in
- 1:10:17Speaker 7: the run game. And it's like, so that's why you're
- 1:10:19Speaker 7: gravitating towards Nikhil Harry's and Chadgic because if they're gonna
- 1:10:23Speaker 7: have to add something in the run game and they're
- 1:10:25Speaker 7: gonna have to play multiple spots, like they're gonna have
- 1:10:27Speaker 7: to have some size.
- 1:10:28Speaker 5: It's almost like they're talking themselves into it, you know,
- 1:10:30Speaker 5: like they have such a high bar and so many
- 1:10:33Speaker 5: checkpoints that they you know, probably maybe fudge a couple
- 1:10:36Speaker 5: of like well, you know, we love to kill some
- 1:10:38Speaker 5: size and you know, maybe his intelligence. But like at
- 1:10:41Speaker 5: the end of the day, he just you know, he
- 1:10:43Speaker 5: didn't move the needle.
- 1:10:44Speaker 7: That is something that I think is makes you just
- 1:10:46Speaker 7: a little bit optimistic about their approach, is that Taekwon
- 1:10:50Speaker 7: isn't that Taekwon is good at one thing. He's fast,
- 1:10:53Speaker 7: and that they didn't try to They didn't overthink his weight.
- 1:10:58Speaker 7: And I know he hasn't done anything yet. So when
- 1:10:59Speaker 7: I say think, I just mean in terms of the
- 1:11:01Speaker 7: evaluation in the draft, they didn't think about his way.
- 1:11:05Speaker 7: They didn't think either he's not run blocking like that's
- 1:11:08Speaker 7: it's not they did.
- 1:11:09Speaker 5: They did try to do it with him, Like it's
- 1:11:11Speaker 5: like now they're just trying to well, let's just take
- 1:11:12Speaker 5: the fast guy and try to make them into what
- 1:11:14Speaker 5: we want.
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: A couple emails coming in at web Radio at pages
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: dot com, Jack wants to know, are you surprised that
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: pig in an urban setting wasn't lining up with the
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: twos yesterday?
- 1:11:24Speaker 6: I was a little bit. I did take note of that.
- 1:11:28Speaker 6: I think I'll put it in the same box that
- 1:11:30Speaker 6: Mike put Bill Murray in five six days in if
- 1:11:34Speaker 6: we're still not really seeing that somewhere, you know, whether
- 1:11:38Speaker 6: it be right guard or right tackle, I.
- 1:11:40Speaker 5: Don't care well, especially when they have so many questions,
- 1:11:42Speaker 5: you know. And I mean it just goes back to
- 1:11:44Speaker 5: talking about the fifty three menu roster. It's like, yeah,
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: Riley reached the starter, but do you feel like he's
- 1:11:48Speaker 5: a lock. I mean, I don't think.
- 1:11:49Speaker 6: I don't think he's a you know, I don't know.
- 1:11:52Speaker 5: Don't really have a lock at right tackle, Like they
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: don't really have them, you know.
- 1:11:56Speaker 6: And part of that is Calvin Anderson and where he
- 1:11:59Speaker 6: might fit in, and we have seeing him out here.
- 1:12:00Speaker 6: I don't know what his limitations are. But yeah, I
- 1:12:06Speaker 6: agree with you might get you're going to have probably
- 1:12:09Speaker 6: a veteran that could start and could not be on
- 1:12:12Speaker 6: the team. Like I know that sounds silly, but yeah,
- 1:12:15Speaker 6: you guys.
- 1:12:16Speaker 7: Read anything into the fact that Bailey Zappy just got
- 1:12:20Speaker 7: some legitimate run with the with the ones just now
- 1:12:24Speaker 7: a little bit.
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: I was thinking about it, but I didn't want to
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: like open up that can of worms.
- 1:12:28Speaker 7: I don't I don't want to overreact to it either.
- 1:12:30Speaker 7: But that didn't happen yesterday, you know. I just yeah,
- 1:12:34Speaker 7: you always you never know, like about managing reps and man,
- 1:12:38Speaker 7: you know how they're kind of divving it up or whatever.
- 1:12:40Speaker 5: But yeah, that was see some more RPO stuff down there.
- 1:12:45Speaker 7: That was definitely interesting.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: Yeah, little uh non tackling tackling drills going on, Guys
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: taking the ball and having to evade the defender within
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: a certain booty couldn't hold onto a confined area. I
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: think this might be a good time to take a break.

- 1:15:53Speaker 1: All right, back here at Patriot's training camp. Fred Kirsh,
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: Paul Parrillo, Mike dus, Evan Lazar, we're high up of
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: the practice fields here at Jillette Stadium, Patriots are Now
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: what is it? Kick return session of practice?
- 1:16:07Speaker 6: Yes, looks to me like today's work is kick return.
- 1:16:10Speaker 6: They kicked the makeshift kickoff team wearing the pinnies.
- 1:16:14Speaker 5: Yeah, Fred, I couldn't make another team. We just announced
- 1:16:20Speaker 5: training camp practices for next week. I could share those lots,
- 1:16:23Speaker 5: I you'd like. That is, so there will be practice
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: next Monday or I guess Sunday. But Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
- 1:16:30Speaker 5: Thursday have been announced now as well. Those will all
- 1:16:33Speaker 5: be nine am start times for the practices on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday,
- 1:16:40Speaker 5: but Tuesday will be a midday practice twelve thirty to
- 1:16:42Speaker 5: two thirty. Gates open at eleven for that Tuesday practice
- 1:16:45Speaker 5: on August first, So next week coming together a little bit.
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: I wonder why Tuesday is midday well in the middle
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: of some others.
- 1:16:56Speaker 6: Yeah, and it sounds like they they practicing h five
- 1:17:01Speaker 6: days in a row.
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: Yeah, they're allowed to do that.
- 1:17:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I think. I think it's every five days they
- 1:17:06Speaker 6: need a day off, but they usually.
- 1:17:10Speaker 5: Yeah, so they'll be Thursday.
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: Okay, that means I'll have Friday off, right, Supposedly, I.
- 1:17:23Speaker 6: Thought Friday was the in season stadium. So that's probably
- 1:17:29Speaker 6: not right. Yeah, that's probably not That's why I kind
- 1:17:31Speaker 6: of stuck out unless we're reading the dates wrong.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: Because if they're practicing Sunday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: that's five days. So if Friday Friday is already an
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: inn stadium, I.
- 1:17:45Speaker 6: Thought Friday was the in stadium practice.
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: You guys, so one of those days are going to
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: be off.
- 1:17:49Speaker 9: I would assume Thursday, but I don't know.
- 1:17:54Speaker 5: As always, things are subject to change, so let's not
- 1:17:57Speaker 5: worry about it. Read the blocks, you'll know.
- 1:18:00Speaker 7: A little bit more ramped up than in the previous
- 1:18:03Speaker 7: years that I had covered it.
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: They did a full pads.
- 1:18:06Speaker 9: Yeah, they did a little bit more.
- 1:18:07Speaker 6: I think they had pads on. I don't necessarily think
- 1:18:10Speaker 6: it was ramped up at all.
- 1:18:13Speaker 5: A couple of nights I remember it being a little
- 1:18:15Speaker 5: bit more.
- 1:18:16Speaker 6: Brian had a.
- 1:18:17Speaker 5: Couple of nice throws of that one.
- 1:18:19Speaker 6: Well, that was one you thought there, I thought, you said,
- 1:18:21Speaker 6: Brian Morey, Uh yeah, that was when we thought it
- 1:18:25Speaker 6: was like ending.
- 1:18:26Speaker 5: We went down and then like it kept going, but
- 1:18:28Speaker 5: it was it was again. It was like, oh yes,
- 1:18:29Speaker 5: more of like a you know, running through the game
- 1:18:32Speaker 5: day operation. It was there's a sideline, we stand up.
- 1:18:36Speaker 5: It was now absolutely wise.
- 1:18:39Speaker 7: I wrote a post about it being more intense than
- 1:18:41Speaker 7: it was.
- 1:18:41Speaker 6: It doesn't mean it was right.
- 1:18:44Speaker 9: I mean, I think it's funny.
- 1:18:46Speaker 7: I think it was just the way Mike said most
- 1:18:51Speaker 7: years that that practice is like a walkthrough just for appearances,
- 1:18:57Speaker 7: just bringing guys out just to break. He would just
- 1:19:00Speaker 7: come out and shorten it.
- 1:19:02Speaker 6: They did have pads on. That's what to me the
- 1:19:06Speaker 6: difference was. I'm not saying I'm just saying it was
- 1:19:09Speaker 6: that blue white scrimmage that they do half speed and
- 1:19:13Speaker 6: they go over every situation. They run the field goal
- 1:19:15Speaker 6: unit on, they do a free kickoff like they do everything.
- 1:19:20Speaker 6: It's it's every situation you could possibly do.
- 1:19:22Speaker 5: We'll check the blogs.
- 1:19:23Speaker 7: You check the blog.
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: Dugger deep.
- 1:19:27Speaker 6: Over it. My guy right here, dugger. I like just
- 1:19:32Speaker 6: watching him handle the kick and then I say, we'll
- 1:19:34Speaker 6: never see that again.
- 1:19:36Speaker 5: There he goes, They're gonna put him out there one
- 1:19:39Speaker 5: time this year, Paul, and he's gonna fair catch it,
- 1:19:41Speaker 5: and you're gonna be pissed.
- 1:19:42Speaker 6: I might cry.
- 1:19:43Speaker 5: I could finally and wave. Well they I gotta say, though,
- 1:19:49Speaker 5: I mean, I don't know what it's like in the
- 1:19:50Speaker 5: sun right now, but this cool breeze up here is.
- 1:19:53Speaker 6: I did notice yesterday that we were very comfortable up here,
- 1:19:56Speaker 6: and when we went down to do the interviews. I
- 1:19:58Speaker 6: don't know if it was just because there was so
- 1:19:59Speaker 6: many people and tight quarters, but it felt like it
- 1:20:03Speaker 6: was ten degrees hotter down there.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: Well, the TEP is definitely going up. I've got eighty
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: four degrees right now.
- 1:20:07Speaker 6: Yeah, that's on your Accu weatherfit.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: Yes, and sun is starting to peek out a little
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: bit more.
- 1:20:14Speaker 5: As we're now. This is again more kickoff return.
- 1:20:19Speaker 6: Yeah, it's more bolden.
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: Looks like they're gonna get ready for eleven on eleven,
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: here comes the.
- 1:20:24Speaker 6: Lines, Oh where are they coming from? Fred? All right?
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: Yates?
- 1:20:28Speaker 5: Of hell, we got to get It's like some kind
- 1:20:33Speaker 5: of social media posts of you know, some work going
- 1:20:36Speaker 5: on down there with some fire and Billy Yates.
- 1:20:38Speaker 6: So now I want to see if Evans thing with
- 1:20:41Speaker 6: Zappy sort of caveaes through this second level of team.
- 1:20:48Speaker 5: Yeah, it looks like we got one's v one.
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: But you know that's sneaky on the Offensi's part, Like
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: Mac will be the first one out there, but he
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: won't be necessarily with the first.
- 1:20:57Speaker 5: That's well, that's the cam Newton thing. That's what they did,
- 1:21:00Speaker 5: Kim Newton. Cam Newton will get the first four reps.
- 1:21:02Speaker 6: Wait a minute, but mat Mac took his reps before
- 1:21:05Speaker 6: Zappi with the ones. But Evan's point was Zappi took
- 1:21:09Speaker 6: reps with the ones also, which I don't think he
- 1:21:12Speaker 6: did yesterday. I agree with Evan on that.
- 1:21:17Speaker 7: See, we do agree sometimes.
- 1:21:20Speaker 5: What do you do?
- 1:21:20Speaker 6: What will they they yell at me for agreeing with
- 1:21:22Speaker 6: you all the time.
- 1:21:23Speaker 5: What would you say? Is the philosophical difference in a
- 1:21:26Speaker 5: practice and a drill where you're going ones versus ones
- 1:21:28Speaker 5: versus we're gonna go the first team offense against the
- 1:21:30Speaker 5: second team defense. Uh, you know sometimes they switch it up.
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: Well, you want to get looks sometimes it's tempo, yeah,
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: and you want to you want to see some of this,
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: you know, to be back up defensive players against some
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: of your better Also, sometimes.
- 1:21:44Speaker 7: It's a little bit of they want the better players
- 1:21:47Speaker 7: to be able to do what they need to do right,
- 1:21:50Speaker 7: but it's still have a tempo, like you're not just
- 1:21:52Speaker 7: doing walk through, but you're trying to run things, and
- 1:21:55Speaker 7: you think that Juju Smith Schuster is probably gonna.
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: Get wonder Blitz got there.
- 1:22:03Speaker 7: Here's his best throw of camp so far, two days.
- 1:22:05Speaker 5: In play action protection.
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: Why don't you describe it a little bit?
- 1:22:09Speaker 7: So it's a I don't want to call it something.
- 1:22:12Speaker 7: He ran a deep over and then Kendrick Bourne ran
- 1:22:15Speaker 7: the post or the deep over to the other direction
- 1:22:17Speaker 7: off of play action, just kind of like intersecting crossing
- 1:22:19Speaker 7: grounds and Parker beat his guy and Mac dropped it
- 1:22:22Speaker 7: in the bucket.
- 1:22:23Speaker 6: And we should mention that it was Gonzales that got
- 1:22:26Speaker 6: bet just because we've been talking about how his coverage
- 1:22:28Speaker 6: has been really good, so we want to be a
- 1:22:30Speaker 6: little bit balanced. But yeah, that was that was nice.
- 1:22:33Speaker 6: Nice design. A little Pepper's, you know, very active as
- 1:22:38Speaker 6: a blitzer in the first two days.
- 1:22:39Speaker 7: By the way, see that that's gonna be a lot
- 1:22:42Speaker 7: of their offense, right, Empty, Mac and Empty spread the formation.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: Out underneath like quick outs underneath the hunter Henry.
- 1:22:52Speaker 6: The other part about that twos versus ones thing, ones
- 1:22:55Speaker 6: versus two's whatever I think and I don't. You can't
- 1:22:58Speaker 6: always tell because sometimes they have cards out, sometimes they don't.
- 1:23:01Speaker 6: But a lot of times when the twos are running
- 1:23:03Speaker 6: someone else's looks as opposed to you don't necessarily want
- 1:23:07Speaker 6: your ones running someone else's looks.
- 1:23:08Speaker 15: Just do what you do.
- 1:23:09Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I don't know if that was the case.
- 1:23:11Speaker 6: Down the far end, it looked like it was a
- 1:23:13Speaker 6: very low tempo and most of those plays were designed
- 1:23:16Speaker 6: to succeed getting Josh bloodsoe here a little.
- 1:23:19Speaker 7: This is this is what I want to I've been
- 1:23:21Speaker 7: waiting to see all off season though nobody open No, well, yeah,
- 1:23:25Speaker 7: but Mac and empty, Like I really feel like that's
- 1:23:29Speaker 7: where he can really control the line of scrimmage and
- 1:23:32Speaker 7: use his brain to just know where the ball should
- 1:23:35Speaker 7: go before the ball is snapped and get the thing
- 1:23:37Speaker 7: out of there, and it just stresses the defense. And
- 1:23:41Speaker 7: bill Obrian's empty package is famous, like it's it's one
- 1:23:43Speaker 7: of the best at any level of football, and just
- 1:23:46Speaker 7: I think he can thrive in that situation. I really do,
- 1:23:49Speaker 7: because of his ability to cross this defense.
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: What makes O'Brien's empty different than others.
- 1:23:56Speaker 7: Well, he's been building it for years and years, which
- 1:23:58Speaker 7: I think is a big thing. But he young corporates
- 1:24:00Speaker 7: a lot of tempo, and then he also does it
- 1:24:02Speaker 7: out of different formations like he excuse me personnel groupings,
- 1:24:06Speaker 7: like he's not afraid to run empty out of twelve
- 1:24:09Speaker 7: or run empty out of a more traditional run personnel grouping,
- 1:24:13Speaker 7: and that creates a lot of mismatches, a lot of
- 1:24:16Speaker 7: coverage tells, like if you put a tight end out
- 1:24:19Speaker 7: wide and the corners over him, then you know it's
- 1:24:21Speaker 7: probably his own coverage, and that allows the quarterback to
- 1:24:24Speaker 7: be able to decipher the coverage. So it's not necessarily
- 1:24:28Speaker 7: the play designs themselves, but it's very Uh, He's got
- 1:24:31Speaker 7: a lot in his rolodex, and it's been successful for
- 1:24:34Speaker 7: him pretty much everywhere.
- 1:24:36Speaker 6: Mike, did you get a good look at that result
- 1:24:38Speaker 6: of that place?
- 1:24:39Speaker 5: Nobody opened? He wanted it.
- 1:24:40Speaker 6: He looked like he had Juju, and Juju I thought
- 1:24:43Speaker 6: could have made the catch.
- 1:24:43Speaker 5: Yeaheah. Did you feel like I felt that way? I
- 1:24:46Speaker 5: don't know if he I mean, I didn't really felt
- 1:24:49Speaker 5: feel like he could have had him. It just felt
- 1:24:50Speaker 5: like he got off and like he wanted him, but
- 1:24:52Speaker 5: he got off.
- 1:24:52Speaker 6: It definitely wasn't the design. It was a hard play
- 1:24:54Speaker 6: action again, like Evan just said, ball designed to come
- 1:24:57Speaker 6: out quick. The coverage was there. But then I thought
- 1:24:59Speaker 6: he had I thought I thought Juju had a chance
- 1:25:02Speaker 6: to make a play. He does make a touchdown catch
- 1:25:04Speaker 6: here on on Gonzalez again, you know, right by the pylon. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:25:14Speaker 6: see that's I think Evan's right. When the ball comes
- 1:25:16Speaker 6: out immediately. He's accurate enough that in general the plays
- 1:25:21Speaker 6: looks looks solid. It's it's about the timing in the rhythm,
- 1:25:25Speaker 6: I think Zappian. Now, so that was five plays for mac.
- 1:25:31Speaker 5: So second offensive line again, same as it was yesterday.
- 1:25:33Speaker 6: We had him three for Shin.
- 1:25:37Speaker 5: Jake Andrews.
- 1:25:39Speaker 7: There, Conor McDermott a little bit of a rough period
- 1:25:43Speaker 7: there for Christian Gonzalez. That beat a couple of months.
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: I'm not sure if that was live action.
- 1:25:52Speaker 5: Kelvin Munson would have put JJ Taylor into the socios
- 1:25:55Speaker 5: dot com house there.
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: Oh not.
- 1:25:58Speaker 6: You guys are really doing a good job, sure, you
- 1:26:00Speaker 6: guys really? Yeah, if we got to step up the
- 1:26:03Speaker 6: sponsored game, right, we got to step up our sponsor game.
- 1:26:07Speaker 6: Although I am I'm reading between the lines, you know,
- 1:26:11Speaker 6: with this Toyota Sullivant time. You know, you know Bridgestone
- 1:26:15Speaker 6: cars speaking, I think we have cars in our future.
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: Speaking of Toyota, if you want to see Toyota's best offers,
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: including those not seen on TV, go to buy at
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: toyota dot com. It's Toyota's official website for deals from
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: the official web vehicle of the New England Patriots, Toyota.
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: Let's go Places, Let's go places.
- 1:26:38Speaker 6: Let's So that was like interesting little play design.
- 1:26:43Speaker 5: Did you catch Evan missed it? I think Evan missed
- 1:26:45Speaker 5: that one.
- 1:26:45Speaker 6: They sort of had a little bubble. I don't know
- 1:26:51Speaker 6: what you were doing, but it was a little bubble
- 1:26:55Speaker 6: to to Tray Nixon with a couple of guys in
- 1:26:57Speaker 6: front of them. But the defense I thought was swarming there.
- 1:27:01Speaker 6: But yeah, seemed like a little a little bit of
- 1:27:03Speaker 6: a different yeah, a little bit of a different kind
- 1:27:05Speaker 6: of look.
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: Of course, the bubble.
- 1:27:09Speaker 6: So now this is one that I hope people don't
- 1:27:10Speaker 6: get too excited. So that's now. Zappi has been in
- 1:27:13Speaker 6: for three plays. They've all been little swing passes. They're
- 1:27:15Speaker 6: all complete three three. Well, you know three for three.
- 1:27:18Speaker 7: Play you know, no, you know they'll write it all.
- 1:27:21Speaker 7: You know, they will no context needed here.
- 1:27:25Speaker 6: I just looked at and for the record three for three,
- 1:27:27Speaker 6: but you know, all coming from inside the ten yard line.
- 1:27:30Speaker 6: None of them ended up in the end zone. Yeah,
- 1:27:32Speaker 6: and none of them would have ended.
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: Up J Taylor would have ended up dead.
- 1:27:37Speaker 7: The exact play design you're talking about. But they they
- 1:27:41Speaker 7: definitely have ran some we say r PO style things.
- 1:27:46Speaker 5: Yes, I mean I've been saying it's.
- 1:27:48Speaker 7: It's it's there. I mean, that's just a screen. But
- 1:27:52Speaker 7: they they've definitely done quite a bit of that. And
- 1:27:55Speaker 7: I we talked about it a little bit yesterday. How
- 1:27:58Speaker 7: you can see how they're building up to it by
- 1:28:00Speaker 7: like installing the run element first, and then they put
- 1:28:03Speaker 7: the pass routes onto it and it's and then they
- 1:28:06Speaker 7: do it all together, right, and and that's that's definitely
- 1:28:09Speaker 7: gonna be a part of the playbook. I like most
- 1:28:12Speaker 7: teams that run a lot of RPO or somewhere around
- 1:28:15Speaker 7: twenty five percent RPO in terms of their RPO plays
- 1:28:19Speaker 7: relative to the rest of the plays that they run.
- 1:28:21Speaker 7: But that that's like at the top of the league.
- 1:28:23Speaker 7: That's like Philadelphia, Kansas City, like they'll run it that much.
- 1:28:25Speaker 7: I don't know if the Patriots are going to be
- 1:28:27Speaker 7: twenty five percent RPO.
- 1:28:29Speaker 5: And like lead the league, but it's going to be
- 1:28:30Speaker 5: more than they've been running.
- 1:28:32Speaker 6: Yeah, like my same sec second offensive line is yesterday, yes, correct,
- 1:28:37Speaker 6: And I would I would say just to you know,
- 1:28:39Speaker 6: follow up on Evan's point. We wanted to watch as
- 1:28:41Speaker 6: this period what got underway. Mac took the first five
- 1:28:45Speaker 6: with the ones. Zappi came in, took the next five,
- 1:28:48Speaker 6: not with the ones, not the same, did not operate
- 1:28:51Speaker 6: with the same personnel that he did in the previous
- 1:28:53Speaker 6: team period. At the other end, yep, no contract, Well
- 1:29:01Speaker 6: we can make one.
- 1:29:02Speaker 5: I mean it is fun because I mean we're doing
- 1:29:04Speaker 5: the show and we're trying to watch and talk and
- 1:29:06Speaker 5: and there's a lot going on. But it's always interesting
- 1:29:08Speaker 5: to me then to go back through the Twitter feed
- 1:29:10Speaker 5: to see what other people. Yeah, how long I was
- 1:29:14Speaker 5: what I didn't even see practice?
- 1:29:17Speaker 6: Yeah, that happened a little yesterday.
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: It's sorely in there now.
- 1:29:22Speaker 6: Oh boy, you guys are a little harsh on the
- 1:29:29Speaker 6: third quarter of it.
- 1:29:30Speaker 5: I'm sorry. I don't want to do it, but like,
- 1:29:32Speaker 5: I've never seen it look non functional as consistent as
- 1:29:35Speaker 5: it is with him, Like.
- 1:29:35Speaker 15: Oh boy, did you see Tim Tebow? No, no, that's
- 1:29:39Speaker 15: and that's did you see Cam Newton? Come on, McClellan,
- 1:29:46Speaker 15: that was something.
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: Do you know his middle name?
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: Of course I do, McClellan.
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: Man, what.
- 1:29:53Speaker 5: You're finger wagging us with the wrong name?
- 1:29:55Speaker 1: Right?
- 1:29:56Speaker 6: Oh?
- 1:29:56Speaker 5: Mcsorlely and that's outside.
- 1:30:00Speaker 6: Yeah, like Malie Cunningham had a step there too.
- 1:30:07Speaker 5: Yeah, it's funny, you know it's uh, you just said
- 1:30:09Speaker 5: Malie Cunningham's name, Paul, you did. I'm like, man, I
- 1:30:12Speaker 5: haven't even haven't thought of him once, and all of
- 1:30:15Speaker 5: a sudden, I haven't seen him much kind of pops up.
- 1:30:18Speaker 5: But I did say blood so Josh Bledsoe was getting
- 1:30:21Speaker 5: some run at safety. I mean it seems like Mapho's
- 1:30:22Speaker 5: working in as safety pretty much full time now, Sorry, Evan.
- 1:30:25Speaker 6: Much of the dismay of yeah, lazare and I haven't comment.
- 1:30:31Speaker 5: I haven't really gotten a glimpse at key On White
- 1:30:33Speaker 5: doing much either.
- 1:30:34Speaker 6: Nope, not a ton.
- 1:30:41Speaker 5: The only time I thought about him is when I
- 1:30:42Speaker 5: see Ronnie Perkins sorely running.
- 1:30:46Speaker 6: Oh, we definitely need to see he would again doctors
- 1:30:52Speaker 6: come on.
- 1:30:53Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:30:57Speaker 5: Still though he seems like he's doing a lot of
- 1:30:58Speaker 5: spectating because this is like the two's right here, I
- 1:31:03Speaker 5: mean you got I mean you know these are even
- 1:31:05Speaker 5: beyond that, right for the Ronnie Perks, Sam Robbers, Sonny's car.
- 1:31:10Speaker 6: Washer, Jeremiah Jeremiah Farms.
- 1:31:12Speaker 5: Ocasi shut you him out just talking about Yeah, this
- 1:31:25Speaker 5: is down in the dregs.
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: Sorely a lot of JJ.
- 1:31:31Speaker 7: Taylor getting some questions about Christian Gonzales. I think people
- 1:31:34Speaker 7: are reading tweets of Parker beating him and then Juju
- 1:31:37Speaker 7: beat him, and but I think you know, he he's
- 1:31:42Speaker 7: riding the wave a little bit of a rookie in
- 1:31:43Speaker 7: the first couple of days. But there are just so
- 1:31:45Speaker 7: many signs that I think are really positive of just
- 1:31:49Speaker 7: him understanding his body positioning, understanding his role in the coverage.
- 1:31:52Speaker 7: And he obviously moves well. So it's not all he's
- 1:31:56Speaker 7: a corner. He's gonna get beat sometimes, it's not going
- 1:31:58Speaker 7: to be perfect every single time, and he's not gonna
- 1:32:00Speaker 7: suffocate every single guy every single snaps. But I think
- 1:32:04Speaker 7: he's he's been.
- 1:32:05Speaker 5: Fine with the ones now at at I guess we
- 1:32:10Speaker 5: call it right edge.
- 1:32:12Speaker 7: It's a big dude.
- 1:32:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:32:17Speaker 13: Back backed in.
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: Tim Tim, our friend from Duncan says, I agree with
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: Evan for what it's worth, having been to many of
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: the season ticket holder practices. I also thought that last
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: year's was more competitive than previous years.
- 1:32:30Speaker 6: There's one guy on Evan's side. I can tell you
- 1:32:33Speaker 6: from being at all twenty of them. They've flipped all
- 1:32:36Speaker 6: the same.
- 1:32:38Speaker 5: I have no recollection. Yeah, except for they had pads
- 1:32:42Speaker 5: on last year. Yeah, they don't usually again, no June
- 1:32:45Speaker 5: on team periods. So you got ki on White. That's
- 1:32:53Speaker 5: kind of interesting. Ye Kim White now defensive end. This
- 1:32:55Speaker 5: is more like he played when he was in Georgia Tech.
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: Sergia wants to know if we've seen or heard anything
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: with Jalen Hurd.
- 1:33:06Speaker 5: Uh not today. I thought he looked pretty athletic running yesterday.
- 1:33:10Speaker 6: He is smooth, yea silk running absolutely, but he's not
- 1:33:13Speaker 6: great size, but he just got here like I think
- 1:33:15Speaker 6: he's like one of the plays I noticed him lining
- 1:33:18Speaker 6: up yesterday. It looked like he didn't know exactly where
- 1:33:20Speaker 6: he's supposed to be, which is completely understandable.
- 1:33:23Speaker 5: I mean, he's been here for like three days, right,
- 1:33:26Speaker 5: But it is a little bit of intrigue. I mean,
- 1:33:28Speaker 5: if I was him, I would be looking my chops
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: at the opportunity that exists here. All right, one's back
- 1:33:37Speaker 5: out there, Thornton Bourne too tight.
- 1:33:43Speaker 6: So fifty one pretty much took guys spot because this
- 1:33:47Speaker 6: is bar more with with Godshaw.
- 1:33:49Speaker 5: Yeah, he's on the he's on the right edge now,
- 1:33:51Speaker 5: yeah right, yeah, So it's this barrage of him with
- 1:33:54Speaker 5: this is just a just in the middle, no chance
- 1:33:59Speaker 5: Mac back of the it's on a born Marcus. Joe
- 1:34:02Speaker 5: pretty to cover from Marcus.
- 1:34:05Speaker 7: I don't want to, you know, I don't know what
- 1:34:10Speaker 7: taekwon Thornton. See they're talking about it right now, Like
- 1:34:12Speaker 7: I don't know what Taekwon Thornton's route is there, but
- 1:34:15Speaker 7: they're talking about it now. And this is one thing
- 1:34:17Speaker 7: that he's got to clean up. It looked like the
- 1:34:20Speaker 7: corner had to leverage the opposite direction, which he broke
- 1:34:23Speaker 7: right like her. He ran into it and Matt's what
- 1:34:26Speaker 7: Mac is talking about it with him right now. And
- 1:34:28Speaker 7: if he had ran, if he had cut it off
- 1:34:30Speaker 7: the other direction, he would have been wide open. And
- 1:34:33Speaker 7: those are just the little things that he came up
- 1:34:35Speaker 7: last year too with this route running that he's got
- 1:34:37Speaker 7: to work on for sure if he's gonna be a
- 1:34:39Speaker 7: big contributed It was a.
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: Slow walk back to the uh, the group takwon.
- 1:34:45Speaker 7: So that's that's as come on, that's the best thing.
- 1:34:49Speaker 6: Yeah, that's the best play I've seen out of Juju
- 1:34:52Speaker 6: where he quick quick move, cut inside and cut the touchdown.
- 1:34:57Speaker 6: Who was that again against? Was that Mark? I think
- 1:35:01Speaker 6: that was on Marcus Marcus Jones right, So that that.
- 1:35:04Speaker 7: Was a vintage Patriots pull the guard play action, get
- 1:35:08Speaker 7: the linebackers to bite and create that one on one
- 1:35:11Speaker 7: and Juju Juju beat him. Good practice so far from Juju,
- 1:35:15Speaker 7: I got him with like three or four catches, all right,
- 1:35:17Speaker 7: yeah two tuddies?
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: Is that JJ in the backfield? Yeah?
- 1:35:25Speaker 5: Ooh, nice to see there you go?
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: That that plays over see these are that's the thing
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: that that scares you.
- 1:35:31Speaker 5: It's just right underneath Riley Reef. And I mean, I
- 1:35:35Speaker 5: think he's a good player, but I.
- 1:35:37Speaker 7: Really am trying very very hard, uh to not over
- 1:35:41Speaker 7: evaluate the offensive line in defensive line without pads on,
- 1:35:45Speaker 7: because look, when Riley Reeve can hit somebody, it's a
- 1:35:47Speaker 7: totally different game, right, And that's totally fair. But his
- 1:35:51Speaker 7: foot speed slow, I mean, he's he's just.
- 1:35:54Speaker 5: That's what stands out at this point, his ability to
- 1:35:56Speaker 5: get to.
- 1:35:57Speaker 7: That landmark and and get himself in that past.
- 1:36:00Speaker 6: Let's to check in with Andy on that Fred. Everybody
- 1:36:02Speaker 6: was it Big Cat Williams when he came and he
- 1:36:05Speaker 6: was going through the pads with the footwork, and he
- 1:36:09Speaker 6: was like he can't play, and he couldn't.
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: He left, Oh, there's a pick for dugger and Mac
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: does some Mac does some push ups after that. That
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: was ill advised.
- 1:36:21Speaker 9: So that's again a movie down.
- 1:36:23Speaker 6: Can I just tell you, I know, I get I
- 1:36:26Speaker 6: get accused of being the Mac basher, and I guess
- 1:36:30Speaker 6: sometimes that's accurate. That's the throw he keeps doing. He
- 1:36:34Speaker 6: does not have the arm strength to run one way
- 1:36:36Speaker 6: and throw the other. It will not ever get there.
- 1:36:39Speaker 7: And I'm with you one hundred percent, So why are
- 1:36:41Speaker 7: they asking him to do.
- 1:36:42Speaker 6: It like he and I don't think they're asking him
- 1:36:44Speaker 6: to throw across his body.
- 1:36:45Speaker 7: I don't think so either. But every time they move
- 1:36:46Speaker 7: the pocket, it does not go well. Every time they
- 1:36:49Speaker 7: asked him to get out and bootleg or move the pocket,
- 1:36:52Speaker 7: that was just that was just a rollout. That wasn't
- 1:36:54Speaker 7: a true boot it was just a one roll out.
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: But in that case, he just threw it right to
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: do so.
- 1:36:59Speaker 6: You have to throw the ball to the outside, not
- 1:37:01Speaker 6: the inside.
- 1:37:02Speaker 7: I hear you, guys. I just I don't want it
- 1:37:04Speaker 7: in the.
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: Good good pass and catch socle Zappi down the middle.
- 1:37:12Speaker 6: I mean, you know what they say that Zappy SoCal
- 1:37:15Speaker 6: connection is.
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: Well, you know, Zappi comes in a Montana spark.
- 1:37:19Speaker 5: You can't stop it.
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: It's a little spark plug that kid.
- 1:37:26Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:37:26Speaker 6: I think that's why Mac was as upset with himself
- 1:37:29Speaker 6: as he was, because I think that's one of those
- 1:37:31Speaker 6: that brain part. He's gonna watch the film and they're
- 1:37:34Speaker 6: gonna say, Mac, we've talked about this.
- 1:37:36Speaker 7: I know, I know, take every single thing that gets
- 1:37:40Speaker 7: him outside the pocket, rollouts, bootlegs, throw it in the
- 1:37:43Speaker 7: trash can and burn it. It's not his game.
- 1:37:46Speaker 5: I agree with you one hundred percent past breakup by.
- 1:37:49Speaker 6: I'm sorry for that. I'm though I don't mean to
- 1:37:51Speaker 6: agree with you. I know it draws the it draws
- 1:37:54Speaker 6: the ire of some.
- 1:37:55Speaker 5: It's not becoming.
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: That last play. Zappy had to pump it once say
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: he wasn't decisive with them.
- 1:38:02Speaker 6: On coverage by to got the hand in there, score
- 1:38:08Speaker 6: more with four.
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: That's that's what they're saying, Yeah.
- 1:38:13Speaker 5: Fred Kurs, I don't that's not as good as the
- 1:38:16Speaker 5: hell though.
- 1:38:17Speaker 6: Oh they can't all be winners.
- 1:38:23Speaker 5: Oh stepped up, step received, but you will receive.
- 1:38:29Speaker 6: Total consciousness, no credit amount on the original step up
- 1:38:33Speaker 6: was nice, but then he hid in the banged to
- 1:38:34Speaker 6: one of his line.
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: Not sure if he didn't go over the line of
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: scrimmage there, So direction.
- 1:38:40Speaker 6: Time you think?
- 1:38:40Speaker 5: So do you think our friends down on the burn
- 1:38:42Speaker 5: mound are they? Are we coming out of today with
- 1:38:45Speaker 5: a there might be a quarterback competition headline? Is that
- 1:38:47Speaker 5: what that they're going to be saying?
- 1:38:48Speaker 6: Oh? Interesting?
- 1:38:50Speaker 5: You know it's interesting.
- 1:38:51Speaker 7: The frustrating part and for me is board up until
- 1:38:58Speaker 7: up until the interception that he just threw to Dugger,
- 1:39:02Speaker 7: which was not a good decision. I thought that that
- 1:39:05Speaker 7: was like the best stretch of team that.
- 1:39:08Speaker 6: Back has had.
- 1:39:08Speaker 7: I do agree, like even going all the way back
- 1:39:11Speaker 7: to the spring. So I was ready to be like, oh,
- 1:39:13Speaker 7: you know what, that was a step forward for the
- 1:39:15Speaker 7: offense today. You know that looked a lot smoother like
- 1:39:17Speaker 7: that touchdown past the juju that is exactly how it's
- 1:39:19Speaker 7: drawn up on the highteboard. That was good as hell.
- 1:39:22Speaker 7: And then they was a pick like it's just like
- 1:39:24Speaker 7: two steps forward, one step back, and that that's frustrating.
- 1:39:27Speaker 6: It is so ZAPPI just gave the guy we were
- 1:39:31Speaker 6: just talking about Heard a chance to make a play
- 1:39:34Speaker 6: back shoulder ish a little bit. Throw was a little
- 1:39:37Speaker 6: behind him. Thought he could have come down with it
- 1:39:39Speaker 6: though when he.
- 1:39:39Speaker 5: Didn't, is that I think Brodney Randall and covers.
- 1:39:42Speaker 6: This well, which you know it's tough to shake. Yeah,
- 1:39:44Speaker 6: are squared.
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: Square back to the end zone.
- 1:39:51Speaker 5: Oh he's quick though, man, I mean, terrible.
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: Defense, but you got to catch the ball. But the
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: good closing speed there. And forty three?
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: Who's forty three, big Calvin Munson, Yeah, yeah, I don't
- 1:40:03Speaker 5: think it's forty three.
- 1:40:04Speaker 6: I think it's thirteen.
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: Oh okay, Jack Jones, Okay, I don't know.
- 1:40:09Speaker 5: I mean I I liked I liked how Heard looked
- 1:40:13Speaker 5: out of the break on that one though. For a
- 1:40:15Speaker 5: big guy, he threw the brakes on and away.
- 1:40:18Speaker 6: I mean you could see he was a running back.
- 1:40:20Speaker 6: I mean you can see, like how how quick is
- 1:40:22Speaker 6: he he's he's very smooth for a guy that size.
- 1:40:26Speaker 6: He runs really well.
- 1:40:27Speaker 5: He's just got to make a play or else it's
- 1:40:29Speaker 5: gonna be over for him before it begins. Go Zappie again,
- 1:40:36Speaker 5: Rally Webb.
- 1:40:39Speaker 6: Making it look easy. I don't know about easy as Pepper,
- 1:40:42Speaker 6: but that was my points as Pepper's puts the fist
- 1:40:45Speaker 6: up for fourth down. I'm not sure anybody touched him
- 1:40:48Speaker 6: before he got in the end zone.
- 1:40:49Speaker 5: But I do wonder though, with you know, everybody talking
- 1:40:55Speaker 5: about Devin mccorty, how they're gonna replace him. I mean,
- 1:40:57Speaker 5: it seems pretty straightforward what they're gonna do. They're gonna
- 1:40:59Speaker 5: play three safety and you know, I just don't know
- 1:41:01Speaker 5: if they're gonna play all of them at once a
- 1:41:04Speaker 5: lot or ken one of the fourth guys be it
- 1:41:08Speaker 5: Mapu Bledsoe Mills. Can one of those guys break into
- 1:41:11Speaker 5: the rotation and actually, you know, develop a set of
- 1:41:16Speaker 5: you know, a package that fits them or you know
- 1:41:17Speaker 5: works that.
- 1:41:18Speaker 7: Yeah, so that's an RPO. Yeah, so you had to
- 1:41:21Speaker 7: run play with the screen attached. Now what I and
- 1:41:25Speaker 7: you know, Bill O'Brien so far has is like a
- 1:41:29Speaker 7: plus plus. Like everything they're doing I love what they're doing.
- 1:41:32Speaker 7: What I'm waiting for is the downfield routes off of it, right, Like,
- 1:41:36Speaker 7: the screens are cool, but like, can we hit like
- 1:41:38Speaker 7: a five step slant so that we can so that
- 1:41:41Speaker 7: Matt can hit Juju on the run and then all
- 1:41:43Speaker 7: of a sudden that five yard slant becomes a twenty
- 1:41:46Speaker 7: five yard slant right game, Those are the Those are
- 1:41:49Speaker 7: the types of things that I am looking for. They
- 1:41:51Speaker 7: did the screen stuff a little bit last year, Like
- 1:41:53Speaker 7: we can say what we want about Matt Patricia, but
- 1:41:55Speaker 7: last year they had a little bit of that in
- 1:41:56Speaker 7: their bag. This year they need to get to that
- 1:41:58Speaker 7: next step of throwing down the field off the RPOs.
- 1:42:02Speaker 5: What's funny is that, you know, you notice a lot
- 1:42:03Speaker 5: of the the highlights that you see from other teams
- 1:42:05Speaker 5: putting out there, Like the Jets, they're doing a lot
- 1:42:07Speaker 5: of middle of field stuff, so there's a lot of
- 1:42:09Speaker 5: chance for downfield plays, big plays, exciting highlights. And when
- 1:42:13Speaker 5: you start in the red zone, it's really you know,
- 1:42:15Speaker 5: tight windows can test the catches. It's not as sexy,
- 1:42:17Speaker 5: you know, the highlights aren't as sexy in the right
- 1:42:19Speaker 5: you just got to the core of why they start
- 1:42:21Speaker 5: in the red zone, right exactly, that's where it's hard.
- 1:42:24Speaker 7: Yesterday they had a Jets clip as Trace McSorley is
- 1:42:27Speaker 7: is quarterbacking right now as some of the backup side
- 1:42:31Speaker 7: of a Sauce Gardener going up against Garret Wilson in practice.
- 1:42:34Speaker 5: Yeah, it's just like man must TV right.
- 1:42:37Speaker 7: Like I don't care about Aaron Rodgers, but like the
- 1:42:39Speaker 7: fact that that team has those two guys for the
- 1:42:42Speaker 7: next ten years, is that's what you want, Like, that's
- 1:42:45Speaker 7: what that's what you want, Like a a stud young
- 1:42:48Speaker 7: receiver against the stud young corner. Like if they had
- 1:42:51Speaker 7: a receiver like that here, that Christian Gonzalez.
- 1:42:53Speaker 5: Could just go to toe to toe with what they
- 1:42:55Speaker 5: do well, it's like when good players go against each other,
- 1:42:57Speaker 5: it's like good they make each other better, right.
- 1:43:00Speaker 7: Clip That was Robert Salas. What Robert Salas said was
- 1:43:06Speaker 7: was exactly that that they're gonna those two guys are
- 1:43:08Speaker 7: going to make each other great, you know, going up against.
- 1:43:10Speaker 5: Each other in practice greatness makes we're gonna be ready
- 1:43:12Speaker 5: to produce something.
- 1:43:13Speaker 6: Field goals here to close it out and looks like
- 1:43:15Speaker 6: closing it as we predicted. Oh yeah, we're at We're overtime.
- 1:43:18Speaker 5: All right, I could sit here.
- 1:43:19Speaker 6: All day, really practica start till nine forty eleven fifteen
- 1:43:23Speaker 6: according to the schedule.
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: Oh really? Okay?
- 1:43:26Speaker 5: All right, so today's Ryland's turning.
- 1:43:30Speaker 6: Where's teatrich twice?
- 1:43:31Speaker 5: Whe's t wise when you need to see him?
- 1:43:33Speaker 6: Not good?
- 1:43:35Speaker 5: Did anyone tap them up?
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:43:41Speaker 5: So this is twenty thirty seven thirty three.
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: Thirty three yard line snap ball down, kick us up
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: and true and good.
- 1:43:57Speaker 7: I think the Twitter versus freaking now about mac Jones's
- 1:44:02Speaker 7: start the camp and uh, you know the fact that
- 1:44:05Speaker 7: two days in a row to Kyle Duggar interception, This
- 1:44:08Speaker 7: is all all our fault.
- 1:44:10Speaker 6: Yeah, oh yeah, this is the incessant need to chart
- 1:44:14Speaker 6: and record every play leads to this kind of stuff.
- 1:44:18Speaker 7: Couldn't agree more.
- 1:44:21Speaker 6: Look at me defending mac Jones. It's who the fuck
- 1:44:24Speaker 6: it the problem?
- 1:44:25Speaker 7: The part that I get frustrated about, not to go
- 1:44:27Speaker 7: all all nuclear on my colleagues, but it's the lack
- 1:44:30Speaker 7: of context, right, It's like, okay, so he went one
- 1:44:34Speaker 7: for three in a seven on seven red zone period.
- 1:44:37Speaker 7: All three throws were high point fades in the back
- 1:44:39Speaker 7: of the end zone to the tight end, Like there's
- 1:44:41Speaker 7: no space like there there's nobody open, like really open open,
- 1:44:45Speaker 7: Like let's just let's wait till they get in between
- 1:44:48Speaker 7: the twenties, Like if it still doesn't, if there's still
- 1:44:50Speaker 7: nobody to throw to and it's still a struggle to
- 1:44:53Speaker 7: complete passes once they have some space to operate in, Like,
- 1:44:56Speaker 7: then I'm with you that maybe it start to time
- 1:44:59Speaker 7: to to get a little bit worried. But to get
- 1:45:02Speaker 7: worried because it's you know, MIKEASICKI is is battling Kyle
- 1:45:06Speaker 7: Dugger in the back of the end zone and the
- 1:45:07Speaker 7: past falls incomplete. I just I can't get all that
- 1:45:11Speaker 7: that concerned about stuff like that.
- 1:45:12Speaker 5: I mean, I still feel better about this offense right
- 1:45:14Speaker 5: now then I feel like I was feeling in camp.
- 1:45:16Speaker 5: Not to say that I feel great or then I'm
- 1:45:19Speaker 5: overly optimistic, but it just it looks like they've got
- 1:45:21Speaker 5: a plan. It looks like they know what they're doing.
- 1:45:23Speaker 5: And you know, it's not quite clicking on all cylinders yet.
- 1:45:27Speaker 5: But what offense is clicking on all cylinders in day
- 1:45:30Speaker 5: to a training camp without pat did see City sow
- 1:45:35Speaker 5: get a little bit of work? Sorry City? So do
- 1:45:37Speaker 5: we ever get do we ever fear that one out.
- 1:45:39Speaker 12: I got to get them.
- 1:45:40Speaker 6: It's so.
- 1:45:42Speaker 5: With city. So so he got he got some some
- 1:45:44Speaker 5: right tackle reps there down near the end. So working
- 1:45:47Speaker 5: in it is a little bit surprising. But with s Yeah, yeah,
- 1:45:51Speaker 5: that's three. That's a little.
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: A little different right now, the three quarterbacks with Bill o'brown, I.
- 1:46:02Speaker 5: Looks like a Rylin hit that one too.
