  [SPEAKER_00]: He's played three seasons in the NFL.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So when you talk about extensions for players coming off their third year, you have to wait until the start of the league year to officially extend these players.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So the kind of timing of this type of stuff, I know everyone's talking about extending Britain, Australian, and Parker Washington, and even Antonio Johnson.

  [SPEAKER_00]: These are all players from the 2023 draft class.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Talking about ants on here, and we talked about him earlier today.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Picking up that fifth year option and potentially extending him beyond that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But Britain strange.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Um, and the rest of these guys, you cannot pick up or you can, you cannot extend them, extend their contracts until after the start of the league year, which is March 11th.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So time line wise, I would expect the first wave of free agency to happen well before any sort of contract extension.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I honestly would not be surprised, uh, 2026 is the final year of their deals, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Anton Harris and I assume they'll pick up the fifth year option.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But again, guys like Britain Strange, Parker Washington, Antonio Johnson, final year of their deal will be 2026 this upcoming season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I would expect some time in between the first wave of free agency and

  [SPEAKER_00]: September, if they're going to pick up these 50 or options for that to be the time, ah, I mean, not pick up 50 options, but stuck on it and it's on Harrison.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If they're going to extend these contracts before the start of the regular season, I would expect it to be after wave one of free agency, they just kind of get, you know, focus on free agency, focus on the things that need to happen right now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And then also part of that equation is I would expect them to, when I say them, I mean,

  [SPEAKER_00]: James Gladstone, Liam Cohen, to want to see these guys come in and work hard, and there's no reason to have any expectation that a Britain strange won't come in and work really hard, because that's just who he is, that's how he is wired, that's how he's been since he arrived in Jacksonville and since before that, when he was at Penn State.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm just saying I do think the Jaguars probably will wait until after the big meat of free agency to extend anyone.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And maybe even after that to see how kind of how the off season is going because you're not in a hurry.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And look, the Jaguars would be well within their rights to not extend any of these guys until after the 2026 season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I personally don't think that that's the best thing to do because you have cap space and cap flexibility moving forward after 2026.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like right now for 2026, the Jaguars, they're up against it with the cap.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If they want to be aggressive in free agency, they're going to have to make a lot of restructures.

  [SPEAKER_00]: and potential cuts.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's just the way it is.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But with 2027, they're scheduled to have 71 million dollars in cap space and there are tons of cut candidates that would be, you know, just easy to stomach based on the way you're building your roster.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So they have plenty of cap space for the future to sign guys like Britain Strange.

  [SPEAKER_00]: That's really not an issue at all in my mind.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So, and then if you extend these guys this off season,

  [SPEAKER_00]: They're not going to impact the cap negatively in 2026.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The new money isn't till 2027 and beyond.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So that's definitely something to keep in mind when it comes to these contracts.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But when it comes to Britain's strange and just his kind of journey as a Jaguar, his first year just didn't do much, didn't get on the field a whole lot, had, had,

  [SPEAKER_00]: little bit of injuries if I recall correctly.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Miss sometimes actually he played most of the season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I he missed a couple games here and there played most of the season just didn't play that much on the offensive side of the ball for the Jaguars.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He was a 60 second pick in the NFL draft a pick that let's be honest a lot of draft analysts local media

  [SPEAKER_00]: fans did not like the pick, they didn't.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I was a fan of written strange.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I thought that his explosiveness is obvious ability to be reliable as a hands-cutter and his just whatever you want to call it out there where he is just a dog.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean his physicality is aggressiveness.

  [SPEAKER_00]: All those things I thought played really well, and I loved the idea of having, you know, Evan Ingraham and Britain strange out there, a lot together.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I just don't think that the previous regime did as much as they possibly could to kind of weaponize that duo.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And of course, Evan Ingraham was more of a slot player than a true Titan.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Britain Strange is a true tie-to-end who can line up in the slot on the line of scrimmage in the backfield.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You can put him anywhere and he can do a good job for you.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So he's coming off a season in which missed some time in 2025.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He missed what like five five games I think it was for the Jaguars.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He had to go on IR, but he came back and hit the ground running.

  [SPEAKER_00]: His return, combined with the addition of Jacobi Myers to me, is really what helped open up the Jaguar's passing offense.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And there was other factors to it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But those were the two big critical things that happened.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar's traded for Jacobi Myers, and they got Britain's strange back.

  [SPEAKER_00]: and that really helped them go on that run down the stretch.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He caught 48 passes on 63 targets, 76% reception percentage, 549 yards, 11.4 yards per catch, three touchdowns.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And again, if he hadn't missed all that time, he would have had an even bigger year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And so great stuff from him in the receiving department.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think he's shown that he can kind of be effective in a lot of different areas of the receiving game over the middle or liable guy kind of like a dump-off safety valve type of player, but then also you know can kind of stretch the field with his explosiveness and athleticism as well and combine with

  [SPEAKER_00]: When you talk about his blocking ability, he's a good pass blocker, he's a great run blocker, especially in space.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You get him on the move, attacking linebackers, attacking edges, attacking safety zincorneurs, and he just is gonna blow people up.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He is such an awesome player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I cannot get over how much fun he is to watch.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The narrative on the Jaguars and Trent Balki just reaching in the second round for Britain strange that was here in Jacksonville that was around nationally and then he's just like shut everyone up in such a big way and I love that and I love the way he plays the game.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I'd get ahead of it.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If there was one player that I say the Jaguars need to extend this player before the 2026 season,

  [SPEAKER_00]: You know, somebody who is not going to have an expiring contract and, like, I'm not talking about Travis ETN, Devon Lloyd, you know, busted around these.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I'm talking about guys that you have under contract going into 2026, you should extend them early.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If there's one player, well, there's Trayvon as well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think they should extend Trayvon too.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But let's just say, Britain's change is right up there.

  [SPEAKER_00]: At the very top of the list, I absolutely think the Jaguars should extend Britain's strange prior to the 2026 season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: What will it look like to extend a Britain's strange in this tight end market that we're in right now?

  [SPEAKER_00]: Well, George Kittles at the top of the market at 19 million, Tramick Bride is right there as well.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Those two guys are absolutely, you know, top of the league type players,

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Britain's strange has put himself in that category just because he hasn't established himself as that dominant of a receiver, but I don't think he's real far behind.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Travis Kelsey, his contract was 17-mill a year, yet TJ Hawkins in at 16-5, David and Joku at 13-6, Mark Andrews at 13, Cole-Chammed at 12-5, Jake Ferguson at 12-5, Pat Firemeat

  [SPEAKER_00]: To me, the minimum number I would be willing to start talking about if I was Britain's strangers about 13.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If I'm him, there's no way you're convincing me that I'm in the same tier as Jake Ferguson and Cole Comet.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm a better player than that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So now we're starting to talk about the market Andrews tier and market Andrews is older.

  [SPEAKER_00]: David and Joker is older.

  [SPEAKER_00]: TJ Hawkins is older.

  [SPEAKER_00]: All these guys are a lot older than Britain's strange.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But let's be real, like if he hits free agent market after the 20, 26 season, what is he gonna garner?

  [SPEAKER_00]: $14 to $15 million range, which it's a lot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But the cap is continuing to rise every single year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Unless there's another pandemic, there's nothing stopping the NFL salary cap from rising tremendously every single year, and teams should be aggressive to play into that, to understand that that's going to be the case.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And so I think that they should give Britain Strange

  [SPEAKER_00]: 13 to 15 million dollars per year this off season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Give him a, you know, if I was the Jaguars, I would probably try to start negotiating around 12.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's like an area where you can say it's a legitimate offer.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, we're not being insulting, but that's where we're going to start out.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And if I'm Britain's strange, I'm starting out like,

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think there's any reason to believe that TJ Hawkinson is a more impactful player than Britain's strange right now.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If they could land somewhere, you know, in the 13 to 14 million dollar range, that would be great.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's what would be ideal for the jaguars.

  [SPEAKER_00]: 15 to 16 might not be unreasonable for Britain's strange again out of all the guys on this list outside of like a dorge kittle this is the most complete tight-end strongly feel that way absolute stud 25 years old go into the prime of his career plays the game you want the way you want him to play it
