- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. The game is on Brady and
- 0:13Speaker 1: the Bucks are set to go home tomorrow. We'll hear
- 0:16Speaker 1: from the Tampa quarterback coming up shortly ahead of Sunday
- 0:19Speaker 1: Night Football with the Chiefs. Thursday Night football is in Cincinnati.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Is that guy gonna be able to go? We are
- 0:27Speaker 1: live at pay Course Stadium with the latest ahead of
- 0:29Speaker 1: Dolphins and Bengals. And there's a game in London this week.
- 0:36Speaker 1: We'll go there as well. We'll hear from Stacy Dale's
- 0:39Speaker 1: Tomorrio Davis, our whole crew. All of that coming up
- 0:42Speaker 1: NFL Now, NFL Network. Also coming up, we're live in
- 0:54Speaker 1: Denver with Josie Jewel, linebacker the Broncos. I don't know
- 0:57Speaker 1: if you've noticed that this they've actually one at a
- 1:00Speaker 1: two out of three games. Maybe it isn't as bad
- 1:02Speaker 1: as the headlines indicate. This is NFL Now in a
- 1:04Speaker 1: game day here on NFL Network from our news room
- 1:07Speaker 1: in Los Angeles. My name is ANDREWS Siciliano, A Jameis Winston,
- 1:11Speaker 1: update Miles Garrett as well. Coming up this hour. Let's
- 1:15Speaker 1: begin with the Buccaneers in the situation here in Florida.
- 1:18Speaker 1: They did relocate, as you know, buying out to Miami
- 1:21Speaker 1: to avoid hurricane in that hurricane is now a tropical
- 1:25Speaker 1: storm landfall yesterday, the game is on. That official announcement
- 1:31Speaker 1: made roughly an hour ago. It's gonna be Sunday, it's
- 1:34Speaker 1: going to be in Tampa. Before the announcement, we heard
- 1:37Speaker 1: from Tom Brady. You know, we haven't even had a
- 1:41Speaker 1: Thursday practice yet. There's still so much prep We're one
- 1:44Speaker 1: day in. We still got two days of practice. We've
- 1:46Speaker 1: got a lot of meetings Friday Saturday. You know, we're
- 1:49Speaker 1: used every minute we have up to game time to prepare.
- 1:51Speaker 1: It's not like we're preparing for the easiest team us
- 1:54Speaker 1: or we're facing one of the best teams in the league.
- 1:56Speaker 1: So you know, we're just gonna do the best we
- 1:58Speaker 1: could do with the circumstances that are presented in front
- 2:01Speaker 1: of us. Knowing that, you know, we're definitely you know,
- 2:04Speaker 1: in different routine, but we're gonna have to focus the
- 2:07Speaker 1: best way we can in order to you know, put
- 2:10Speaker 1: our best performance out there. Trying to make do here
- 2:13Speaker 1: as we've seen the devastating images high there. Sarah Walsh
- 2:16Speaker 1: from Fort Myers and and points south of where you are.
- 2:20Speaker 1: You are in Tampa, actually relocated to your parents home.
- 2:24Speaker 1: It's great to see how are things down there in
- 2:28Speaker 1: Tampa and and and points south well compared to what
- 2:32Speaker 1: the folks are dealing with down south in that Fort
- 2:34Speaker 1: Myers area that you mentioned. Things here in Tampa are
- 2:37Speaker 1: really really good considering what we were looking at a
- 2:39Speaker 1: couple of days ago when we were expecting a direct
- 2:42Speaker 1: hit here. I've been evacuated from my home. A lot
- 2:45Speaker 1: of folks here have been evacuated, so I'm still displaced.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I'm at my parents home. I'm safe everyone I know
- 2:50Speaker 1: in the Tampa Bay area. I mean, we really avoided
- 2:52Speaker 1: what could have been a total catastrophe. And you're seeing
- 2:56Speaker 1: the remnants of that down south of us because it
- 2:58Speaker 1: turned and hit them instead. So there is complete devastation
- 3:02Speaker 1: in this state. It's really unfortunate. We're really concerned about
- 3:07Speaker 1: the people that are a little south of us, But
- 3:09Speaker 1: in Tampa overall, we're doing really good here. The Buccaneers
- 3:13Speaker 1: will play here on Sunday night, which was not a
- 3:15Speaker 1: given given what was happening here. So feel fortunate. We're lucky,
- 3:21Speaker 1: but our thoughts and our and our hearts go out
- 3:23Speaker 1: to those that are really struggling today. Um, we are
- 3:26Speaker 1: dealing with minor inconveniences here in Tampa compared to a
- 3:30Speaker 1: lot of folks right and I can't say enough those
- 3:34Speaker 1: images that we have seen south of you, Fort Myers
- 3:36Speaker 1: and some of the outlying islands are are just jaw dropping,
- 3:39Speaker 1: and our thoughts and prayers and certainly I know everyone
- 3:42Speaker 1: will be doing their best. Many people getting on planes
- 3:45Speaker 1: headed down to Florida to try to help. Right now,
- 3:47Speaker 1: now that airports are reopening, the Buccaneers, as we mentioned,
- 3:50Speaker 1: will go back to Tampa on Friday. Take me through
- 3:53Speaker 1: their preparation now the next couple of days. The Buccaneers
- 3:57Speaker 1: are practicing today, they're on the field I think right now.
- 4:00Speaker 1: Still they will practice again tomorrow and then they will
- 4:03Speaker 1: move everybody, the families, the dogs, the cats, the kids,
- 4:06Speaker 1: everybody's gonna come back to Tampa. So really they've had
- 4:09Speaker 1: two road trips this week down to Miami and back
- 4:11Speaker 1: that weren't planned for. But I think the Buccaneers thinking
- 4:16Speaker 1: was that first and foremost they cared about everyone's safety.
- 4:20Speaker 1: So they got all the families out of there. They
- 4:22Speaker 1: are safe if they could control that part of this aspect,
- 4:25Speaker 1: which is obviously the biggest and most important part, that
- 4:28Speaker 1: hopefully everything else could fall into place and it would
- 4:30Speaker 1: allow these guys to do their jobs. There's also some
- 4:33Speaker 1: good news pertaining to the Buccaneers. Chris Godwin was on
- 4:36Speaker 1: the field yesterday, Pulo Jones was on the field yesterday,
- 4:39Speaker 1: and Mike Evans will be back. So again, I apologize
- 4:43Speaker 1: for obviously the failure of my voice at this moment,
- 4:45Speaker 1: but I might apparently not be as healthy as some
- 4:49Speaker 1: of the Buccaneers receivers. But the plan is that some
- 4:53Speaker 1: of those guys will be back around Sunday, and that
- 4:54Speaker 1: would be huge news to a Buccaneers offense that really
- 4:58Speaker 1: really needs some healthy bodies. Sarah fighting through that. I
- 5:02Speaker 1: can't imagine you or anyone around you has slept the
- 5:05Speaker 1: last couple of days, so totally understandable. You're officially down
- 5:09Speaker 1: on the injury report as probable to finish the show,
- 5:13Speaker 1: It's good to happen, Sarah live in Tampa. She was
- 5:17Speaker 1: doing that report live from the room she grew up in,
- 5:20Speaker 1: which I want to do one of these days. Granted,
- 5:23Speaker 1: um my parents don't own the house anyway. Moving on,
- 5:26Speaker 1: sidetracked here to a Tongufalo. According to our Tom Pella,
- 5:29Speaker 1: Sero is expected to play tonight to us, should be
- 5:34Speaker 1: good to go. He's officially listed as questionable. Let's spring
- 5:39Speaker 1: in now our own camp Wolf live at pay Corpse Stadium,
- 5:42Speaker 1: live here in Cincinnati, head of this one and focus
- 5:44Speaker 1: on the other quarterback here and protecting Joe Burrow, which
- 5:48Speaker 1: has been an issue now pretty much since the day
- 5:51Speaker 1: he walked in the door cam. Yeah, Andrew, is a
- 5:55Speaker 1: huge issue for this game because they're playing a Dolphins
- 5:57Speaker 1: defense that blitz is more than many teams in the league,
- 6:00Speaker 1: one of the most blitz happy teams in the league.
- 6:02Speaker 1: And as you mentioned, the Bengals have given up war
- 6:05Speaker 1: sacks than any other team on Joe Burrow fifteen. He's
- 6:08Speaker 1: been a lot of resources and money this offseason on
- 6:11Speaker 1: the offensive line and it just has not translated so far.
- 6:14Speaker 1: And protecting Burrow, now, what I've been told is they
- 6:17Speaker 1: spent a lot of extra time over the last week
- 6:19Speaker 1: and a half after practice working on players that did
- 6:22Speaker 1: not quite work. And Burrow said this week that look,
- 6:25Speaker 1: I am gonna have to take shots down field to
- 6:28Speaker 1: my big three Jamaar Chase Tee Higgins Tyler Boyd even
- 6:31Speaker 1: if they're not open, because those guys are gonna make
- 6:33Speaker 1: plays for us, and so they have had a mantra
- 6:36Speaker 1: of at least one deep shot per quarter. Now it's
- 6:39Speaker 1: gonna be interesting to watch because, like I mentioned, that
- 6:41Speaker 1: Dolphins defense, particularly when they do the cover zero all
- 6:44Speaker 1: out blitz is wants to make big plays of their
- 6:46Speaker 1: own and for a Bengals offensive line that struggled, that
- 6:50Speaker 1: could be the matchup to watch. kN Joe Burrow handled
- 6:53Speaker 1: a blitz, He's been good at it at the in
- 6:55Speaker 1: the past, but the Dolphins do it better than any
- 6:57Speaker 1: other team. And so if the Dolphins do pull back
- 7:00Speaker 1: on that blitz a little bit, watch Melvin Ingram, who
- 7:02Speaker 1: has been a great player for them on a bargain
- 7:05Speaker 1: deal so far. Quite a matchup against this Bengals offensive
- 7:09Speaker 1: line and what could be a shootout today Melvin Ingram
- 7:12Speaker 1: Defensive Player of the Month of the a f c
- 7:15Speaker 1: RT's Melvin Ingram camp Wolf Live there in Cincinnati. More
- 7:20Speaker 1: as we get closer to kickoff. More now on these
- 7:24Speaker 1: two quarterbacks to a tongue of Valoa and Joe Burrow.
- 7:27Speaker 1: The reading left or right fifth and first overall picks
- 7:31Speaker 1: in the two thousand eighteen draft. As I mentioned Brian
- 7:35Speaker 1: Baldinger Mark Ross, the story has always been since the
- 7:39Speaker 1: day he got there, let's protect the quarterback and Balded.
- 7:42Speaker 1: They spent a lot of money, didn't see a lot
- 7:44Speaker 1: of results the first two weeks here with thirteen sacks,
- 7:46Speaker 1: but last week a sign of life perhaps with protection.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Well it was the protection was really built into the
- 7:54Speaker 1: game plan, and it's the way that they handled and
- 7:57Speaker 1: to protected their offensive line against the Jets defense that
- 8:00Speaker 1: pressured him a bunch in the game. And so there's
- 8:03Speaker 1: a lot of things that you can do from a
- 8:05Speaker 1: coaching staffs at Taylor and his staff right there, I thought,
- 8:08Speaker 1: did a good job. We'll start really early in the game.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Right here, r pos on a way that you can
- 8:13Speaker 1: slow down the rush. Here's Tyler Boyd in the slot
- 8:15Speaker 1: at a monster game against the Jets. But just the
- 8:18Speaker 1: give throw concept, get the defense playing the run, get
- 8:22Speaker 1: it out of your hands Tyler Boyd, nice easy, quick completion.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Now they went to a lot of max protection. Look
- 8:28Speaker 1: with the tight end of the back, uh sandwiching Joe
- 8:31Speaker 1: Burrow right here, checking protection first, making sure that cup
- 8:35Speaker 1: right there was very good for Joe to step up,
- 8:38Speaker 1: because when he stepped up last week, he made one
- 8:41Speaker 1: good throw after another, this one to Tee Higgins on
- 8:44Speaker 1: the back the shoulder right there against t J. Reid,
- 8:47Speaker 1: you know, and then you look at what Tee Higgins
- 8:49Speaker 1: does right here. It starts with some play action to
- 8:52Speaker 1: get him down the field, just the way uh we
- 8:55Speaker 1: just were explaining that they want to take shots one
- 8:57Speaker 1: a quarter. They got the ball down to Tee Higgins
- 8:59Speaker 1: off play action. That's one way to slow down the rush.
- 9:02Speaker 1: And then look, take Hayden Hurst, give some hip blocks here.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Let those guys know, like Carl Lawson right here, that
- 9:09Speaker 1: we're gonna take care of the edges. You know, when
- 9:11Speaker 1: you can do this and protect the edges and then
- 9:14Speaker 1: help out against the corner right here, and Joe Burrow
- 9:16Speaker 1: can step up, He'll make these throats. He won't miss.
- 9:19Speaker 1: He's just that good when he's protecting. I thought last
- 9:22Speaker 1: week from a standpoint of game planning, they did a
- 9:25Speaker 1: much better job of helping the offensive line and ultimately
- 9:29Speaker 1: protecting Joe Burrow. The question is mark does that continue
- 9:32Speaker 1: tonight against the Josh Boyer defense that is likely gassed
- 9:36Speaker 1: after being on the field for ninety plays this past week.
- 9:39Speaker 1: But their style is to come after you. It's gonna
- 9:42Speaker 1: be curious to see how much they come after Joe
- 9:45Speaker 1: Burrow tonight considering what they had to do this past Sunday. Yeah,
- 9:49Speaker 1: you're right. The way they play, you can't just change
- 9:52Speaker 1: it in a few days of game planning. And we
- 9:54Speaker 1: know Cincinnati has got that big playability on any one play,
- 9:58Speaker 1: and that's what I wanted to get to. Baldi talked
- 10:00Speaker 1: about the old line. But even if they don't play well,
- 10:03Speaker 1: we know that Joe Burrow is so brilliant and so
- 10:06Speaker 1: spectacular that he can go through games and getting sacked
- 10:09Speaker 1: nine times and still be unbelievably prolific. And that's why
- 10:13Speaker 1: I think Joe Burrow is so amazing is that he
- 10:16Speaker 1: raises the level of everyone around him. And when you
- 10:20Speaker 1: talk about other players need, other quarterbacks need things to
- 10:23Speaker 1: be perfect to to thrive, Joe Burrow, we've seen it
- 10:28Speaker 1: can be terrible and he still thrives. And you'll see
- 10:31Speaker 1: that throughout points of his first couple of years in
- 10:34Speaker 1: the league. You'll probably see it more throughout this season.
- 10:37Speaker 1: And that's the encouraging but that's the encouraging part because
- 10:40Speaker 1: he is so accurate, he is so decisive, he is
- 10:43Speaker 1: so smart, and with any one play he gets sacked. Okay, great,
- 10:48Speaker 1: we go to Chase and here's a forty yard game.
- 10:50Speaker 1: We see Tee Higgins making huge plays Tyler Boyd last week.
- 10:53Speaker 1: So even when that Bengals offense gets stuck with the
- 10:57Speaker 1: lack of pressure, that Joe Burrow and that offense is
- 11:00Speaker 1: so spectacular and so explosive, and he's so great that
- 11:04Speaker 1: he can overcome all those sins. Would be great if
- 11:06Speaker 1: either of these teams could run the football as well,
- 11:09Speaker 1: as both are ranked near the bottom of the league,
- 11:12Speaker 1: which is somewhat surprising considering the talent they have in
- 11:16Speaker 1: the scheme they have in both places here especially Schema
- 11:19Speaker 1: comes to Miami. Talent there Joe Mixon as well in Cincinnati.
- 11:22Speaker 1: All right, Mark and Baldi, thank you. Thursday night football
- 11:26Speaker 1: is in Cincinnati tonight and day for steady of these
- 11:29Speaker 1: are our insiders. For more news on game day, Ian Rappaport,
- 11:33Speaker 1: Tom Pella Sero Ian start with you ahead of the
- 11:35Speaker 1: Cowboys game this week. We still don't see Dak Prescott practicing,
- 11:40Speaker 1: but that's not exactly a surprise. Well, Dak Prescott was
- 11:45Speaker 1: on the field today for the Dallas Cowboys. Made to
- 11:47Speaker 1: be seen what he'll be listed on the injury report,
- 11:49Speaker 1: but he was there with no brace on his thumb.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Of course, we know the stitches came out on Monday,
- 11:54Speaker 1: spotted by local reporters. Down a couple of passes, really
- 11:58Speaker 1: short passes. Not much, very very little, but still progress.
- 12:02Speaker 1: And my understanding of the Dak Prescott timeline was once
- 12:05Speaker 1: he gets through the initial part of making sure the
- 12:08Speaker 1: wound heals and making sure the swelling goes down, it
- 12:11Speaker 1: will be two to three weeks from when he should
- 12:14Speaker 1: be able to grip an NFL football and be fine
- 12:17Speaker 1: doing it and have no risk of re injury. That
- 12:20Speaker 1: means gonna be out this week a long shot, I
- 12:23Speaker 1: would say for next week, but against the Eagles on
- 12:26Speaker 1: October six, should probably be ready to go. So really
- 12:29Speaker 1: it's a question of is it the Eagles game or
- 12:31Speaker 1: is it somehow, some way the game right before against
- 12:34Speaker 1: the Rams, and and there's still a little bit of
- 12:36Speaker 1: swelling that Deak Prescott has to get out of that thumb.
- 12:39Speaker 1: That's part of this process here, as well as making
- 12:41Speaker 1: sure the bone is fully healed and that he can
- 12:43Speaker 1: not just grip the football to play toss, but that
- 12:45Speaker 1: he can actually make all the throws, which is a
- 12:48Speaker 1: process that he has to go through now. He told
- 12:50Speaker 1: our James Slater on Monday that he was targeting the
- 12:53Speaker 1: Week five game against the Rams for his return. I've
- 12:56Speaker 1: been told that was always Dax planned from the moment
- 12:59Speaker 1: that he had the surgery, because they told him four
- 13:00Speaker 1: weeks he's counting. It's not quite four weeks to that
- 13:03Speaker 1: Week five game against the Rams. Really, more realistically, it's
- 13:07Speaker 1: probably that Eagles game the following week. But anyone who's
- 13:10Speaker 1: been around Dak Prescott knows he practices so hard they
- 13:13Speaker 1: always have to hold him back. This is going to
- 13:16Speaker 1: be no difference here, Andrew. I'm sure Dak Prescott wants
- 13:18Speaker 1: to go to take every single rep in practice today.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Regardless how well he can throw the football. They're gonna
- 13:23Speaker 1: ease him back in. Remember, he didn't put him on
- 13:25Speaker 1: injured reserve, which means he can participate right now. Ramp
- 13:29Speaker 1: him up, so whenever he's ready to get back on
- 13:30Speaker 1: the field, he can do that. It'll be another start. However,
- 13:33Speaker 1: this week for Cooper Rush, it's the Cowboys and the
- 13:36Speaker 1: Commanders Cooper Rush has yet to lose a game as
- 13:39Speaker 1: a starter. If quarterback wins are a thing for you,
- 13:42Speaker 1: all right, Ian, let's get to Jamis Winston. He was
- 13:45Speaker 1: adamant yesterday when he met the media in London that
- 13:48Speaker 1: he was going to practice Thursday. Ian, he didn't practice Thursday. Nope,
- 13:54Speaker 1: he did not, which was no worthy And I think
- 13:56Speaker 1: for Jamis Winston, Guys, we know he's injured. We know
- 13:58Speaker 1: he's dealing with a somewhat serious back injury that allowed
- 14:01Speaker 1: him to play last week. But you have watched a game,
- 14:04Speaker 1: you can see he was simply not himself and didn't
- 14:07Speaker 1: look great physically doing it, and then also made some
- 14:09Speaker 1: decisions that kind of made it a little bit worse.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Maybe because he was injured, or maybe he was just
- 14:14Speaker 1: trying to do too much, who really knows. I know
- 14:16Speaker 1: these Saints would like him to get healthy. It is
- 14:19Speaker 1: a long season. We've seen teams been maybe a little
- 14:22Speaker 1: more cautious than they otherwise might have because of how
- 14:25Speaker 1: long the seasons, with the added game and all that.
- 14:27Speaker 1: No practice for Jamis Winston. Yet it really does open
- 14:30Speaker 1: the possibility that we could see Andy Dalton on the
- 14:33Speaker 1: field for the Saints on Sunday, which, considering the way
- 14:36Speaker 1: James played last week, might help, but would make the
- 14:40Speaker 1: situation a little more complicated after that. Meantime, in Carolina,
- 14:44Speaker 1: Tom matt Rule made it a point this summer to
- 14:47Speaker 1: say they're going to manage Christian McCaffrey and practice during
- 14:50Speaker 1: the week, try to keep him healthy for all seventeen
- 14:54Speaker 1: games over eighteen weeks. But this is now two straight
- 14:57Speaker 1: days that he has not been seen on the practice field.
- 15:02Speaker 1: That's all right, Andrew. Wednesday is a normal off day
- 15:04Speaker 1: for Christian mc cacaffrey, though the Panthers have had to
- 15:06Speaker 1: list him on the injury report because he's been getting
- 15:08Speaker 1: treatment for a variety of different things so far in
- 15:11Speaker 1: the season. The Fathan McCaffrey not on the field on
- 15:14Speaker 1: Thursday certainly is notable, especially when you go back to
- 15:17Speaker 1: what Matt Rule said yesterday, which is that there is
- 15:19Speaker 1: a plot injury as he called it, that that McCaffrey
- 15:23Speaker 1: is dealing with right now. It sounds like it's something
- 15:25Speaker 1: more than a bruise, not necessarily that he's going to
- 15:28Speaker 1: miss this game for sure. He's a guy who always
- 15:31Speaker 1: through the course of the week, one day will just
- 15:32Speaker 1: kind of snap to it and be ready to go.
- 15:34Speaker 1: So surely that's the hope is the McCaffrey will be
- 15:37Speaker 1: able to get back on the field, do something on
- 15:39Speaker 1: I think Saturday is normally their heavy practice day, not Friday.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Do something out there and be ready to go against
- 15:44Speaker 1: the Cardinals on Sunday. But this is absolutely one of
- 15:46Speaker 1: those ones to monitor here. This is not strictly the
- 15:49Speaker 1: normal plan for Christian McCaffrey with him sitting out Thursday
- 15:52Speaker 1: as well. Pretty long list of banged up running backs
- 15:54Speaker 1: this week. Also on that list DeAndre Swift and David Montgomery.
- 15:57Speaker 1: But a new one to ponder here for game Day
- 16:00Speaker 1: in Christian McCaffrey. Thank you Tom, Thank you Ian. Coming
- 16:03Speaker 1: up next a Kwon Barkley for the rushing title. He's
- 16:08Speaker 1: in the conversation. We'll check in on the two and
- 16:11Speaker 1: one Giant says they get ready for Week four and
- 16:14Speaker 1: the Bears plus live in London. Jamie update next, when
- 16:18Speaker 1: the Plucky got the bomb running. It's game Day on
- 16:25Speaker 1: NFL Network. Back to Cincinnati momentarily, but hey, do you
- 16:28Speaker 1: know there's a game Sunday in London and it's on
- 16:31Speaker 1: NFL Network. You should It's cousins of the Minnesota Vikings,
- 16:34Speaker 1: Jamis Winston baby Neworland Saints. It's a seven am good
- 16:39Speaker 1: morning football, Get you're ready for the action, and then
- 16:42Speaker 1: a nine thirty kickoff. It's at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, live
- 16:48Speaker 1: in London. Now our Stacy Dale's I said, maybe Dale's
- 16:53Speaker 1: on Jamis Winston because he was supposed to practice today
- 16:57Speaker 1: but he didn't. I would say rather alarming because even
- 17:01Speaker 1: a couple of folks with the team I've talked to
- 17:03Speaker 1: were a little bit shocked the decision for Jamis Winston
- 17:07Speaker 1: not to practice today. Actually, it came down the pipeline
- 17:10Speaker 1: this morning. Offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael joined us after the
- 17:13Speaker 1: team's workout, and he said they wanted to make the
- 17:16Speaker 1: best decision for Jamis again dealing with those four fractures
- 17:19Speaker 1: in his back, not to mention an ankle injury by
- 17:21Speaker 1: the way, and they're clearly being very cautious, but they
- 17:25Speaker 1: made the decision this morning. It was alarming because that
- 17:28Speaker 1: coach Dennis Allen and the quarterback himself both declared essentially
- 17:33Speaker 1: on Wednesday that he would be out here on Thursday.
- 17:35Speaker 1: So we show up for practice, he's not there. Andy
- 17:38Speaker 1: Dalton is taking all of the reps, of course, the
- 17:41Speaker 1: veteran quarterback with the first team, and then it's Taysom
- 17:44Speaker 1: Hill the backup once again, as we saw on Wednesday,
- 17:47Speaker 1: Andrew um and in terms of the confidence of Andy Dalton,
- 17:50Speaker 1: Carmichael was asked about it, he said, we have a
- 17:52Speaker 1: ton of confidence in Andy Dalton. That's why we brought
- 17:55Speaker 1: him here. Smart gets in and out of the huddle
- 17:58Speaker 1: and he knows what we're doing. The positive, Jarvis Landry
- 18:02Speaker 1: was back on the field at practice despite that ankle injury.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Remember he didn't go on Wednesday, he was limited. The
- 18:08Speaker 1: negative Michael Thomas was unable to go because that toe injury.
- 18:11Speaker 1: So that's a big one. We're going to continue to track.
- 18:14Speaker 1: But the biggest of all is Jamis Winston. They're going
- 18:17Speaker 1: to decide tomorrow morning based upon what Carmichael said as
- 18:21Speaker 1: to whether he practices on Friday. But this is quite
- 18:25Speaker 1: the storyline. Andrew heading in to face these Minnesota Vikings
- 18:29Speaker 1: here in London. All right, those Minnesota Vikings who are
- 18:32Speaker 1: not yet in London. They are taking off tonight roughly
- 18:36Speaker 1: seven pm local from Minneapolis, and everything planned out. Dales
- 18:40Speaker 1: are going to have the shades pulled on the plane.
- 18:43Speaker 1: It's going to be a dark plane the second they
- 18:45Speaker 1: get on there. It's like go to sleep and then
- 18:47Speaker 1: hit the ground running on Friday. Yeah, what's interesting about that?
- 18:51Speaker 1: You just changed my report up. But Kirk Cousins talk
- 18:54Speaker 1: this weekend. He mentioned a couple of things they're going
- 18:56Speaker 1: to be using, one being melotonin on that six pm
- 19:00Speaker 1: departure flight out of Minnesota to get here, So melotonin
- 19:04Speaker 1: a key. I don't have an I need to get some,
- 19:06Speaker 1: uh for at least that tripped back. And then when
- 19:08Speaker 1: they land he talked about blue lights. So I found
- 19:11Speaker 1: that interesting. Carly and I, you know, Carly Lindsay and I.
- 19:14Speaker 1: We did our research and we beg to differ on
- 19:17Speaker 1: some things. But my biggest, you know, Google search came
- 19:21Speaker 1: up with used for good health. It regulates the circadian rhythm,
- 19:25Speaker 1: which is the body body's natural wake and sleep cycle.
- 19:29Speaker 1: So some different tactics there, but I hope it helps
- 19:32Speaker 1: Delvin cook And you know what's good about Dalvin Cookies.
- 19:35Speaker 1: He's on the field today, Andrew in uniform, and so
- 19:39Speaker 1: all signs point towards him playing on Sunday. That is
- 19:42Speaker 1: great news. Head coach Kevin O'Connell saying this week he's
- 19:46Speaker 1: feeling better and better. But it was Delvin Cook that
- 19:49Speaker 1: talked on Wednesday that said it best. He said, it's
- 19:51Speaker 1: not necessarily a painful thing that left sub lux shoulder again,
- 19:55Speaker 1: which is a partially dislocated shoulder. It's more of something
- 19:59Speaker 1: he has to manage essentially, and he said, you can
- 20:02Speaker 1: tolerate a lot of things. I know how to. Of
- 20:04Speaker 1: course has been through this before, he said, I know
- 20:06Speaker 1: my body. And again all signs point towards him playing.
- 20:10Speaker 1: But it is a tight turnaround Andrew, as you know,
- 20:12Speaker 1: having been here Friday morning right on to Sunday, will
- 20:16Speaker 1: they get settled in. They do have a clear cut
- 20:19Speaker 1: plan in place, per Kevin O'Connell. We'll see if it
- 20:22Speaker 1: manifests on Sunday. As the Saints have been here and
- 20:25Speaker 1: watching many of them pass me right now on Monday
- 20:29Speaker 1: of this week. Good luck sleeping on the plane. Put
- 20:32Speaker 1: those headphones on. Not it's not like it at home.
- 20:34Speaker 1: It's the year at home. You could say, Alexa um
- 20:36Speaker 1: play sleep sounds so yeah, melotonin that helps to thank you.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Stacy Dale's live in London manned off the Parkley One's
- 20:48Speaker 1: out of an arm tack in the twenty Barkley puts
- 20:50Speaker 1: up to the fifteen pencil ted pencil the fun touchdown,
- 20:54Speaker 1: Giants sick one, Barkley on a thirty six yard run
- 20:57Speaker 1: have a child's heavily with five thirty one ago here
- 21:01Speaker 1: on the third. All right, let's talk about of the
- 21:05Speaker 1: bears of the Giants, Bears coming off the rather the
- 21:07Speaker 1: Giants hither g Batist Mark Ross coming off the short week,
- 21:10Speaker 1: and they finally lost a game Monday night to uh
- 21:14Speaker 1: to the Cowboys. And you watch that game, you said, well, Sterling,
- 21:17Speaker 1: Shephard gets hurt and they can't protect the offensive line,
- 21:21Speaker 1: or they can't protect rather Daniel Jones. But hey, I mean, Judy,
- 21:23Speaker 1: they are still two and one heading into this. Well,
- 21:26Speaker 1: they're two and one in quite a big part because
- 21:29Speaker 1: of the guy you just showed on the screen, say
- 21:31Speaker 1: Kwan Barkley. But let's talk about the passing game, which,
- 21:33Speaker 1: as you note, that struggled mightily against the Dallas Cowboys.
- 21:37Speaker 1: That's maybe not a surprise. They have a terrific defensive front,
- 21:40Speaker 1: and we know that that offensive line has struggled over
- 21:43Speaker 1: the last few years. It's a work in progress. It's
- 21:45Speaker 1: clearly not entirely fixed. Daniel Jones was sacked five times
- 21:49Speaker 1: in that game. He was hit twelve times. He also
- 21:52Speaker 1: had nine rushing attempts. Coach Bryan Dabel said, look, you
- 21:55Speaker 1: never want your quarterback to get hit, but guys by
- 21:58Speaker 1: Daniel Jones who can scramble make things difficult on the
- 22:01Speaker 1: defense if they can make some place. He said, So,
- 22:03Speaker 1: you don't want to take it away completely from him,
- 22:07Speaker 1: but let's get back to the passing game because Daniel
- 22:09Speaker 1: Jones can't run their way to victory. The passing game
- 22:12Speaker 1: is averaging only a hundred sixty two yards per game.
- 22:16Speaker 1: That's well below where you wanted to be. Certainly, the
- 22:18Speaker 1: offensive line is a big part of the problem, but
- 22:21Speaker 1: the other part of the problem is what's happened to
- 22:23Speaker 1: the wide receiver corps Sterling Shepherd, who suffered the season
- 22:27Speaker 1: ending knee injury. That was a gut punch for the
- 22:29Speaker 1: Giants because he had worked so hard to get back
- 22:31Speaker 1: from the Achilles injury. So that's a big emotional blow
- 22:34Speaker 1: for them. It's also a blow in football terms because
- 22:37Speaker 1: he was the leading receiver on that team. They haven't
- 22:40Speaker 1: gotten much from Cadarius Tony and Kenny Golladay and so
- 22:44Speaker 1: a name that really has been in the doghouse. Darius Layton,
- 22:48Speaker 1: who had to take a pay cut to avoid being released.
- 22:51Speaker 1: He could get some work now, he could find his
- 22:54Speaker 1: way out of the doghouse. Day Ball said he's been
- 22:57Speaker 1: a pro throughout this and frankly, the New York Giants
- 23:00Speaker 1: don't have many other places to turn with an injury
- 23:03Speaker 1: racked wide receiving for Mark Yeah, you're right, Judy, they
- 23:08Speaker 1: are banged up. Feel bad for my guy Sterling Shepherd there,
- 23:11Speaker 1: you know, one of the best humans you'll you'll have.
- 23:13Speaker 1: But yeah, you you talked about the long term concerns
- 23:17Speaker 1: with the offense and is it sustainable, And the Giants
- 23:20Speaker 1: have really one ugly uh this early in the season,
- 23:23Speaker 1: and I think that will just really have to continue
- 23:26Speaker 1: to rely on the defense, who's done a remarkable job
- 23:30Speaker 1: the first few games. The course gave up some big
- 23:32Speaker 1: plays last week, but for the most part, it really
- 23:34Speaker 1: held this Giants team in these games. While they made
- 23:38Speaker 1: some splash plays, namely with say Kwaon Barkley, the big
- 23:41Speaker 1: plays are not there in the past game. Giants are
- 23:44Speaker 1: last in the league with big plays. Daniel Jones, as
- 23:47Speaker 1: we've seen has gotten the protection still is not there.
- 23:51Speaker 1: The concern with him running and he got them out
- 23:53Speaker 1: a lot of situations is we know he has the
- 23:56Speaker 1: propensity to fumble, but also the injury history when Daniel
- 23:59Speaker 1: Jones runs and gets hit. So a lot of concerns
- 24:02Speaker 1: long term for the Giants. Will this suddenly turn around
- 24:06Speaker 1: and they become an explosive offense. I don't think so.
- 24:08Speaker 1: I think they have to know their identity and that
- 24:11Speaker 1: is beat say quad as much as possible. Hopefully that
- 24:14Speaker 1: defense will hold up and keep them in games. Andrew
- 24:17Speaker 1: the Bears are trying to figure out their identity as well. Mark.
- 24:20Speaker 1: They're they're running the football well Khalil Herbert very well
- 24:24Speaker 1: last week when David Montgomery couldn't finish the game. They're
- 24:27Speaker 1: forcing turnovers. Ro Quan had that big, big pick at
- 24:30Speaker 1: the end of the game and that turned out to
- 24:32Speaker 1: lead them to victory. But they can't throw the ball.
- 24:35Speaker 1: I mean, the numbers are pretty jarring. Twenty three or
- 24:39Speaker 1: forty five for justin Field. There are twenty nine quarterbacks
- 24:42Speaker 1: in the NFL Mark that have completed more passes than
- 24:46Speaker 1: justin Fields has even attempted. It's like they don't want
- 24:50Speaker 1: them to throw the ball, as you said, they can't.
- 24:53Speaker 1: They don't even try, and that's the concern. To get
- 24:56Speaker 1: better for Justin Fields, to get better, you have to
- 24:58Speaker 1: practice doing it, and they don't even have him try
- 25:01Speaker 1: to throw in games. And this is just talk about
- 25:03Speaker 1: not sustainable. This is not sustainable. Look, I was a
- 25:06Speaker 1: huge Justin Fields fan, but looking at him right now playing,
- 25:09Speaker 1: he is indecisive, He has no confidence, his vision is off,
- 25:13Speaker 1: the accuracy is off. He just looks like a shell
- 25:16Speaker 1: of the player that came out of Ohio State. But
- 25:18Speaker 1: in order for him to break out of this, the
- 25:20Speaker 1: guy has to try. They have to rely on him
- 25:22Speaker 1: to throw the ball and practice doing it in games
- 25:26Speaker 1: to get better. But right now he is just so
- 25:29Speaker 1: far away from that. It looks as if the coaches
- 25:32Speaker 1: don't even have confidence that he can throw the ball
- 25:34Speaker 1: when he does throw two huge interceptions last week. So
- 25:38Speaker 1: but you have to find out what you have in
- 25:40Speaker 1: Justin Fields. He's gonna have the ups and downs, he's
- 25:43Speaker 1: gonna have some struggles, but you have to try to
- 25:45Speaker 1: have him throw the ball and incorporate the past game
- 25:49Speaker 1: into their offense in order to be competitive. And this
- 25:52Speaker 1: is a meaningful game here they all are. It's still
- 25:55Speaker 1: Week four, but between two, two and one teams that,
- 25:58Speaker 1: despite the struggles we just described, could be sitting here
- 26:01Speaker 1: Sunday night at three and one. There's and the Giants
- 26:04Speaker 1: big game we for Thank you Judy and thank you
- 26:06Speaker 1: Mark Ross. We continued on NFL Now with a big
- 26:11Speaker 1: game between the Ravens and the Bills in the a
- 26:14Speaker 1: f C. Devin duvern A tied for the league lead
- 26:18Speaker 1: with four touchdowns. He's run one back and he's run
- 26:22Speaker 1: into the chair in Baltimore to join us next not
- 26:25Speaker 1: than another early season tn F game like we did
- 26:33Speaker 1: last year in Cincinnati. It is now known as a
- 26:37Speaker 1: Core Stadium. And if you're wondering what's different with that
- 26:40Speaker 1: logo at midfield on the banks of the Ohio River,
- 26:45Speaker 1: they're wearing the all white tonight. Yes, the all white
- 26:49Speaker 1: helmet just one of the many storylines hide there Cam
- 26:51Speaker 1: Wolf tonight. As we open up week number four, the
- 26:53Speaker 1: Dolphins the Bengals. There's this other one too, Tyreek Kill
- 26:57Speaker 1: and Eli Apple. A war of words and a grudge match.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Tell me about that, Yeah, Andrew, I love trash talk
- 27:05Speaker 1: and this one Tyreek Hill in Eli Apple add spice
- 27:09Speaker 1: to what's already a fun Thursday night game. Look. Tyreek
- 27:12Speaker 1: Hill this week after their win against the Bills, looked
- 27:15Speaker 1: into the TV camera taped a wrestling promo saying, Eli Apple,
- 27:20Speaker 1: I owe you, I'm coming for you. The cheetah is
- 27:22Speaker 1: here and I'll take you back to January two for
- 27:26Speaker 1: the backstory. The Chiefs where Tyree Hill previously played at
- 27:29Speaker 1: two games against the Bengals in twenty eight days. Bengals
- 27:32Speaker 1: won both of those games, and in the a f
- 27:34Speaker 1: C Championship game, Eli Apple made a key tackle on
- 27:37Speaker 1: Tyreek Hill where he right before the second into the
- 27:40Speaker 1: second quarter, he tackled them in the open field and
- 27:42Speaker 1: that led to the Bengals come back. Well after the game,
- 27:46Speaker 1: Apple called Tyreek Hill a baby and then on Twitter
- 27:49Speaker 1: later offered a ticket to the Super Bowl to he
- 27:52Speaker 1: and teammate Nicole Hartman, and so Tyree could not take
- 27:55Speaker 1: kindly to that. Two. Kanga Valoa was defending his receiver
- 27:59Speaker 1: this week and said, Hey, if I see a matchup
- 28:00Speaker 1: between Tyreek and Eli and they were one on one,
- 28:03Speaker 1: I'm gonna give Tyreek a shot. You better believe he
- 28:06Speaker 1: is getting the ball. Now. The Bengals, they are not
- 28:08Speaker 1: planning to play a lot of one on one against
- 28:10Speaker 1: Tyreek Hill. Safety Jesse Bates told me, you have to
- 28:13Speaker 1: respect the speed of Waddle and Tyreek Hill, so they'll
- 28:16Speaker 1: play a few steps back. But he also told me
- 28:19Speaker 1: that Eli Apple, he does a lot of these things
- 28:21Speaker 1: to get under receiver skin. That's his game. So they
- 28:24Speaker 1: talked this week about making sure it doesn't affect the
- 28:27Speaker 1: chemistry and the flow of the game. But right or wrong,
- 28:31Speaker 1: Bates said, we have Eli Apple's back, and so I'm
- 28:34Speaker 1: very I'm looking forward to Hill Apple. There could be
- 28:37Speaker 1: some fireworks for that matchup to absolutely certainly something to
- 28:42Speaker 1: follow tonight as we open up Week number four. The
- 28:44Speaker 1: Dolphins and the Bengals live in Cincinnati, thanking Cam Wolfmore
- 28:48Speaker 1: from Cam coming up a little bit later, and that
- 28:50Speaker 1: game is gonna kick off Week number four. This game
- 28:53Speaker 1: might highlight your Sunday afternoon. Josh Allen and the Bills
- 28:58Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson and the Ravens one o'clock Eastern time on CBS.
- 29:03Speaker 1: The Ravens have beaten the Bills five consecutive at MNT
- 29:07Speaker 1: Bank Stadium. You know, there's a lot of different notions
- 29:11Speaker 1: and opinions about both of us coming out of the draft, um,
- 29:16Speaker 1: you know, and we're just trying to find ways to
- 29:18Speaker 1: help our team win football games. And you know, he
- 29:20Speaker 1: does it as good as anybody in the league. So
- 29:23Speaker 1: um again, it's no, it's no simple task for our
- 29:26Speaker 1: defense to go out there and play a guy like
- 29:28Speaker 1: his caliber. Um. And it's no simple task for offense
- 29:30Speaker 1: to against a defense and a team of their caliber
- 29:33Speaker 1: with the head coach that they've got and the continuity
- 29:36Speaker 1: that they've had in Baltimore for a long time. Um.
- 29:39Speaker 1: So again, we gotta have a good week and and
- 29:42Speaker 1: prepare for in our office battle. Yet very mutual respect
- 29:48Speaker 1: um between one another, you know. Um. But he's a
- 29:50Speaker 1: Buffalo and we'll moving here in Baltimore, you know. So
- 29:52Speaker 1: it can't it can't be no hanging out and stuff
- 29:54Speaker 1: like that. But we see them see each other with
- 29:56Speaker 1: short respect. Josh Allen said today, you should be the
- 29:59Speaker 1: highest paid player in the NFL is certainly the way
- 30:01Speaker 1: you're playing right now here. That was that mean to you? Oh? No,
- 30:06Speaker 1: it which it's cool. I appreciate him saying that. Dude
- 30:11Speaker 1: shouldn't say anybody who those money conversations makes sense when
- 30:18Speaker 1: you look at what Lamar Jackson has done through these
- 30:20Speaker 1: three games with the Ravens collectively and as an offense,
- 30:23Speaker 1: have done through these three games to try to go
- 30:26Speaker 1: to three and one this week. They have a very
- 30:28Speaker 1: tall task, obviously with the Bills coming to Tad And
- 30:31Speaker 1: one of the reasons, obviously this offense is clicking Devin
- 30:34Speaker 1: du Verday. He was a pro bowler and an All
- 30:36Speaker 1: Pro a year ago. The light has gone on. He
- 30:40Speaker 1: is leading the league in touchdowns. Nick Chubb, Cooper Cup,
- 30:43Speaker 1: Stepon Digs, James Robinson, Jamal Williams, and this guy all
- 30:47Speaker 1: with four touchdowns. Joining us live from Baltimore. The Ravens
- 30:52Speaker 1: wide receiver, Devin, Congratulations on the great start, man, Thank
- 30:57Speaker 1: you appreciate it alright. So more touchdowns already through three
- 30:59Speaker 1: games for you this year than you had in your
- 31:01Speaker 1: two previous seasons combined. What feels different for you? I mean, man,
- 31:09Speaker 1: just and just overall experience, just being able to play
- 31:12Speaker 1: with Lamar, get comfortable with him, and you know, you know,
- 31:15Speaker 1: just being able to expand my role as I think,
- 31:18Speaker 1: you know, help help tremendously. You know what stands out
- 31:22Speaker 1: to me and I think stands out from everyone watch it.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Not just with you, but with Rondale as well as Hey,
- 31:26Speaker 1: look at this this narrative that Lamar doesn't throw to
- 31:29Speaker 1: the wide receivers and you guys are only catching slants
- 31:33Speaker 1: and bubbles, Devin, that's gone. Yeah, man, just I mean,
- 31:36Speaker 1: we we get opportunities all the time Lamar. You know,
- 31:39Speaker 1: Lamar has been great this year for us, and you know,
- 31:41Speaker 1: we go as he goes. We just continue to try
- 31:43Speaker 1: to pick him up, you know, be our best sells
- 31:45Speaker 1: for him, you know, allow him to you know, do
- 31:47Speaker 1: his thing. Everybody wants to talk about your quarterback, that
- 31:50Speaker 1: he's on his salary drive, he's gonna break the bank,
- 31:53Speaker 1: and I get it, but I think everyone also realizes
- 31:57Speaker 1: this is what we have seen now for years. This
- 31:59Speaker 1: is what we saw when he was an m d
- 32:01Speaker 1: P the year before you got there. Do you see
- 32:03Speaker 1: a different Lamar accident? Has his game changed? From where
- 32:07Speaker 1: you stand? Man, I just think he's just grown a
- 32:11Speaker 1: lot tremendously, just through his passing game, the way he
- 32:15Speaker 1: sees the field, you know, and just overall how he
- 32:18Speaker 1: plays the game. Man. It's been man, it's been crazy
- 32:20Speaker 1: just to see him improve and you know, be the
- 32:22Speaker 1: player he's been. Is he a different passer in the
- 32:25Speaker 1: pocket this year, death man. He's his whole games elevated man.
- 32:29Speaker 1: And but I'm just happy to be on his team,
- 32:31Speaker 1: happy to you know, catch you know, footballs from him
- 32:34Speaker 1: and help this team win. What kind of challenge do
- 32:36Speaker 1: you guys have this week? Facing a Bills team that
- 32:40Speaker 1: comes in with a very banged up secondary of the
- 32:43Speaker 1: team that overall, I think offensively and defensively is probably
- 32:47Speaker 1: exhausted after after that game and the heat last week.
- 32:51Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, yeah, for sure, for sure a great team.
- 32:53Speaker 1: We we look forward to the you know, the opportunity
- 32:55Speaker 1: we have, um, but I mean we're just approaching it
- 32:58Speaker 1: like any other game. We gotta go in, we gotta execute,
- 33:00Speaker 1: we gotta do the things we know we can do
- 33:01Speaker 1: and just play raving football. And I think, you know, we'll,
- 33:04Speaker 1: you know, we'll be just fine. And maybe if you do,
- 33:07Speaker 1: you can get the people from Nickelodeon to show up
- 33:09Speaker 1: with Slime once again so they slide into Lamar. Right now,
- 33:14Speaker 1: you're on the far left, your third team there. Can
- 33:16Speaker 1: you tell me what's going on? Because everyone else seems
- 33:18Speaker 1: like they're having a good time, and honestly that then
- 33:20Speaker 1: you look miserable. Man, just kind of caught me off guard.
- 33:25Speaker 1: It's it's crazy because I kind of had I kind
- 33:27Speaker 1: of had a feeling something was going on. Then they
- 33:30Speaker 1: got me. I was just kind of like that and
- 33:31Speaker 1: they got me. Like Mark Andrews is smiling, Rashad's kind
- 33:34Speaker 1: of got They're like, oh no, and You're like, oh man,
- 33:38Speaker 1: they got me. What does it feel like? Slimy? Cold
- 33:45Speaker 1: and slim? But it means you guys are are playing
- 33:47Speaker 1: well and winning that that you get slime. I want
- 33:50Speaker 1: to go back to August as well, when you guys
- 33:54Speaker 1: had a preseason game in Arizona. A lot of people
- 33:57Speaker 1: don't know family connections here. You and Tyler Murray are cousins.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Had a great moment on the field after you guys,
- 34:03Speaker 1: of course we made undefeated in the pre season exchanging
- 34:06Speaker 1: jerseys here. How cool was this? Man? Real cool man?
- 34:09Speaker 1: Just you know, see Ce cousin out there, see family
- 34:12Speaker 1: out there you know doing you know, doing doing this
- 34:15Speaker 1: thing man, and you know, just growing up, you know,
- 34:18Speaker 1: both dreaming of you know, these type of moments. Want
- 34:20Speaker 1: to be in this situation. Man, It's it's just, you know,
- 34:22Speaker 1: pretty kind of surreal to see. Yeah, this is cool.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Family on the field, exchange jerseys. Good times there now.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Maybe if you added slime, the whole thing would have
- 34:32Speaker 1: been even better. Devin Duvernet at All Pro a year ago,
- 34:35Speaker 1: a man who was leading the NFL and touchdowns with
- 34:38Speaker 1: fourth through three weeks. Big game this week, trying to
- 34:40Speaker 1: get another home win against the Bills, obviously struck out
- 34:43Speaker 1: that first time. Devin, Thanks for coming on man, continued success, Man,
- 34:47Speaker 1: I appreciate it, Man, thanks for having me. NFL Now
