- 0:00Speaker 1: Senate Majority web John Barrasso joins us. Now, Senator, we
- 0:04Speaker 1: are going to get to the budget bill. But first,
- 0:06Speaker 1: the big news today, the Iran War is not about
- 0:10Speaker 1: to heat up. According to the New York Times, the
- 0:13Speaker 1: President is putting on hold plans to sharply escalate American
- 0:18Speaker 1: military assault against Iran. The threat to interceptor stockpiles is
- 0:23Speaker 1: one of the many considerations that have made a return.
- 0:27Speaker 1: What do you make of this, Senator.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Well, the President is focused on two things, American safety
- 0:34Speaker 2: and of course affordability. And Iran is key to this
- 0:38Speaker 2: because we need to make sure Iran never gets a
- 0:40Speaker 2: nuclear weapon, and we need to make sure that the
- 0:42Speaker 2: straits of hermus are open so oil can flow. With
- 0:46Speaker 2: the production of oil that we have now in the
- 0:48Speaker 2: United States, keeping the straits open will keep energy prices
- 0:51Speaker 2: down long term. In the United States. Iran has been
- 0:55Speaker 2: at war with US for over fifty years. The killing continues,
- 0:57Speaker 2: and sadly, we lost four more so service members this
- 1:01Speaker 2: past week, and our heart goes out to them. The
- 1:03Speaker 2: President's going to continue to negotiate from a position of strength.
- 1:08Speaker 2: But right now the Democrats in the House and in
- 1:10Speaker 2: the Senate are trying to tie the President's hands. They
- 1:14Speaker 2: are voting against funding for the troops, against the weapons
- 1:17Speaker 2: that the troops need. And it's disgraceful what the Democrats
- 1:20Speaker 2: are doing now at a time when we need to
- 1:23Speaker 2: make sure that our troops are fully funded and have
- 1:26Speaker 2: the resources they need to be the greatest fighting force
- 1:29Speaker 2: on Earth.
- 1:30Speaker 1: And it's definitely surprising what you're talking about, that this
- 1:33Speaker 1: is happening during a wartime that we are actively striking
- 1:37Speaker 1: an adversary and the funding is getting held up. The President, though,
- 1:43Speaker 1: he does have this this other top priority, and it
- 1:48Speaker 1: was what he was posting about overnight. He says, the
- 1:51Speaker 1: Same America Act needs to get passed before you guys
- 1:56Speaker 1: leave for August recess. He also wants you to terminate
- 1:59Speaker 1: the fills. Is any of that going to happen before
- 2:03Speaker 1: the recess.
- 2:06Speaker 2: I want to get as much of the Save America
- 2:08Speaker 2: Act passed as we possibly can. I agree with the
- 2:11Speaker 2: President as to the American people, you should have to
- 2:14Speaker 2: be an American citizen to to vote. You should have
- 2:17Speaker 2: to show a photo ID in order to vote. The
- 2:21Speaker 2: President and I talked about this and agreed earlier in
- 2:24Speaker 2: this week. And there is a new urgency because of
- 2:26Speaker 2: what we saw happening in New Jersey. In New Jersey,
- 2:29Speaker 2: over six thousand non residents were non citizens were registered
- 2:35Speaker 2: to vote, and many of them did. And it was
- 2:38Speaker 2: because in New Jersey they give driver's licenses to illegal
- 2:41Speaker 2: immigrants and then automatically they get registered to vote if
- 2:45Speaker 2: you get a driver's license. A New Jersey governor says
- 2:48Speaker 2: she's shocked, Well, she shouldn't you let ten million illegal
- 2:51Speaker 2: immigrants into the country you give them drivers licenses. Of
- 2:53Speaker 2: course they're going to vote, and it is part of
- 2:55Speaker 2: the Democrat manifesto there manifesto. Once all of these people
- 3:00Speaker 2: become citizens and have it right to vote, it's why
- 3:02Speaker 2: not a single Democrat in the Senate has voted with
- 3:06Speaker 2: Republicans for the Save America Act. But common sense people
- 3:10Speaker 2: in Wyoming want it passed. I want it passed, and
- 3:12Speaker 2: we're working to get as much of it done as possible.
- 3:15Speaker 1: And in the context of getting this Save America Act passed,
- 3:20Speaker 1: there is some rare republican Unrepublican drama happening. The Press
- 3:25Speaker 1: Secretary went to the podium this Thursday, very critical of
- 3:28Speaker 1: the Senate Majority leader, who then responded, we have the bites.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Look the President spoke about this directly yesterday. His patients
- 3:38Speaker 3: is running out. He wants to see as much of
- 3:40Speaker 3: the Save America past as possible by the August recess.
- 3:44Speaker 3: He knows that's what the American people want to see passed.
- 3:49Speaker 1: And I believe that we have a bite of John
- 3:51Speaker 1: Thune that is attached to this, he responded a few
- 3:54Speaker 1: minutes later.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Maybe she or someone else how to get on the
- 4:00Speaker 2: phone and get the votes right. It's fifty around here.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Some finger pointing. My question is simple, which probably makes
- 4:11Speaker 1: it harder.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Who is right here.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Donald Trump or John Thune.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Well, the Republicans are all united, were united on is
- 4:19Speaker 2: fighting the Democrats who have gone acpoletely off the cliff
- 4:24Speaker 2: when you take a look at who's driving their party
- 4:27Speaker 2: or united and keeping Americans safe and in making things
- 4:30Speaker 2: more affordable. But let's take a look at where the
- 4:33Speaker 2: Democrats are heading in this country. And I know you
- 4:35Speaker 2: have Mike Rogers on next Republican candidate in Michigan who
- 4:39Speaker 2: I support. We're running against people who really hate America,
- 4:43Speaker 2: who want to destroy America. That's what the Democrat Party
- 4:47Speaker 2: is right now. They have a manifesto, and their manifesto
- 4:51Speaker 2: is to open the borders, to open the prisons, to
- 4:54Speaker 2: put illegal immigrant criminals into our communities. They actually want
- 4:58Speaker 2: to eliminate the police and the military terry. They won
- 5:00Speaker 2: every illegal immigrant to be a citizen and to vote.
- 5:03Speaker 2: They're talking about confiscating personal, private businesses, and private property.
- 5:09Speaker 2: And one of these candidates who's going to be a
- 5:11Speaker 2: member of Congress next time, who won a primary in
- 5:14Speaker 2: a liberal area in New York City, said she didn't
- 5:15Speaker 2: have a napkins, so she wipes her hands on the
- 5:17Speaker 2: American flag. These people are radical, extreme, dangerous, scary. That's
- 5:22Speaker 2: not what the American people want. It's not what they deserve,
- 5:25Speaker 2: it's not what they demand. And that's why Republicans are
- 5:28Speaker 2: going to continue to stay united for freedom, for liberty,
- 5:32Speaker 2: for American greatness and continue and absolutely that involves passing
- 5:36Speaker 2: as much of the Save America Act as we possibly can.
- 5:39Speaker 1: And what you were just talking about some of the
- 5:41Speaker 1: Democratic Socialists platform sounds pretty extreme. They actually just said
- 5:46Speaker 1: on Fox New Sunday they also want to abolish the Senate,
- 5:50Speaker 1: abolish Ice, defund the Pentagon, abolish prisons. The makeup of
- 5:56Speaker 1: the Senate could change a lot in January if any
- 5:59Speaker 1: of these Democratic socialist candidates get in. How much time
- 6:03Speaker 1: do you guys spend talking about this behind closed doors
- 6:06Speaker 1: at the Senate Republican lunch, we.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Talk about how important it is that we stop these
- 6:13Speaker 2: radicals from taking over the country and we win elections
- 6:16Speaker 2: all around the country. And it starts in Maine. Well,
- 6:20Speaker 2: you know with Susan Collins, who they pulled down one
- 6:23Speaker 2: nominee who was a socialist way out there, but they
- 6:27Speaker 2: replaced him yesterday with someone equally as bad. We need
- 6:30Speaker 2: to continue with Susan Collins in the Senate. And you
- 6:33Speaker 2: go all the way to Alaska. Dan Sullivan, a tremendous
- 6:37Speaker 2: member of the United States Senate, works very hard for
- 6:40Speaker 2: the people of Alaska and the country as a military background,
- 6:43Speaker 2: and the Democrats got somebody with the same name to
- 6:46Speaker 2: get him onto the ballot to confuse the voters in
- 6:50Speaker 2: an effort to take that election the other way. This
- 6:53Speaker 2: is a critical election, it's a turning point in our country. Well,
- 6:57Speaker 2: you know what the Democrats are going to do if
- 6:58Speaker 2: they get a charge. They talk about it. They talk
- 7:00Speaker 2: about four new members of the Supreme Court. They're going
- 7:03Speaker 2: to be young, they're going to be liberal, they're going
- 7:06Speaker 2: to deny the law. They're going to defy the Constitution.
- 7:08Speaker 2: That's what the Democrats want. They also talk about two
- 7:11Speaker 2: new states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, with
- 7:15Speaker 2: four new senators. But now you're telling me that these
- 7:19Speaker 2: Democrats want to get rid of the United States Senate.
- 7:22Speaker 2: It sounds like they want a president appointed by the
- 7:24Speaker 2: House of Representatives. So these people are dangerous. As I say,
- 7:29Speaker 2: it's scary. We need to make sure Republicans hold the
- 7:33Speaker 2: house hold, the Senate so President Trump can continue to
- 7:37Speaker 2: focus on American safety, affordability, and continue to make America
- 7:41Speaker 2: the greatest country in the history of this nation.
- 7:44Speaker 1: And it is kind of a head scratcher that you
- 7:45Speaker 1: would run for the Senate on a platform of abolishing
- 7:49Speaker 1: the Senate. But I digress, Senator John Ratso. A lot
- 7:51Speaker 1: of people watching this don't realize you and I have
- 7:54Speaker 1: the same birthday, and it was Tuesday, the twenty first,
- 7:57Speaker 1: So happy belated birthday, and thank you for being here.
