- 0:15Hello and welcome to Arguing Ever After.
- 0:18I am Luke and this is my wife Amber and her little dog too.
- 0:24Hello. If you can't see the dog, it's
- 0:28either because you're listening or because the camera isn't set
- 0:32that low, either of which is fine.
- 0:35We are the Lord and Lady who lock horns.
- 0:37The count and Countess of contention.
- 0:39The Duke and Duchess of Disagreement.
- 0:41And the king and Queen of quarrels.
- 0:43In this podcast, we argue about all things big and small, and we
- 0:46let the audience vote determine who is right.
- 0:50Many of our topics are frequently submitted by our
- 0:52listeners, so if you have a topic you want us to talk about,
- 0:56please send it to us at arguingeverafter@gmail.com.
- 1:01OK, here we are, episode 33. That's a lot of episodes.
- 1:06I, I, I think that's right. It's.
- 1:08Starting to feel like like whoa. When do we stop counting or do
- 1:16we stop? Counting.
- 1:17When do we stop? I don't think you can ever stop
- 1:19counting even if you wanted to. Like I think that the the
- 1:24publishing of it has to be like numbered.
- 1:28OK, well, that's fine. Maybe you don't have to count.
- 1:31Maybe we don't have to count if we ever end up with a radio talk
- 1:35show. Right, because that would not
- 1:39you never hear anybody talk about that.
- 1:41Also, you know, maybe we're one of the few that are still
- 1:43talking about what episode number we're in.
- 1:46But you know what, that's partly probably to help us while we're
- 1:49listening back and be like, OK, wait, what number was that?
- 1:52Because I don't remember. It's also a good moral moral
- 1:55support. Sure, sure.
- 1:57Yeah. Yeah, Booster will help.
- 1:59Or a reminder for the people out there who are maybe a little
- 2:02more forgetful. Right.
- 2:03And it's like 30 three man, I thought last I heard was 10.
- 2:06So that means go back. Yeah, you got 20 the episodes to
- 2:10listen to. Lucky you.
- 2:12Wow, lucky you indeed. I was just watching something
- 2:17with our daughter earlier and it's a show I really like.
- 2:21And I said I wish I could watch that all over again for the
- 2:24first time, you know? So, you know, that's how it
- 2:28could be for some of our listeners who maybe missed.
- 2:31To which I responded on the show in that day, oddly wish you
- 2:37weren't watching. And one of the main characters
- 2:40said, I wish I could start over like a baby.
- 2:46Yeah. Which was pretty darn funny.
- 2:48Yeah, it. Was, yeah.
- 2:50I mean, you have to know the character and all of that, but
- 2:53it's a really good show and I don't need to advertise it
- 2:57because it's also super, you know, it's been around for a
- 2:59minute, but what's been going on, Luke?
- 3:01This is our first time we've recorded in weeks.
- 3:05It seems like months, but it's really only been weeks.
- 3:08I wanted to get another spare recorded because I was concerned
- 3:14that I wouldn't be able to do this recording and we weren't
- 3:18able to do it. Or maybe we just decided it was
- 3:22we were gonna power through. But anyway, I think we only
- 3:24missed 2. Well we recorded all but like 2
- 3:28live weeks in a row. Yeah, yeah, two of our regularly
- 3:32scheduled times. Programs, yeah.
- 3:36What's been going on is surgery, which I had the second of the
- 3:41two surgeries that I had planned for this winter.
- 3:45And the good news is that means it's going to be spring soon and
- 3:48no more surgery recoveries. Yes.
- 3:51Just what's left of this one, which may take a while.
- 3:54I, I hope it's quick for you, but you know, that's it.
- 4:00I think, I think already you're doing better than you were
- 4:04afraid you were going to do because we were worried we you
- 4:06wouldn't make this episode to record.
- 4:07It's true. You are no problem.
- 4:09Here I are. Last week even you were like, I
- 4:11think I could record and I was like, that's wonderful.
- 4:13I'm exhausted from life and I need to not record.
- 4:17You know, I need a little self-care, which wasn't really
- 4:19self-care, but it was, I need a hot minute.
- 4:23So, and, and part of that is because while you've been
- 4:27recovering, you have some restrictions, which makes sense.
- 4:31And those restrictions, because we'd like to make our life
- 4:36chaotic, don't allow for some of the things we have to do with
- 4:43this puppy who is now four months old, which she just went
- 4:49in today and it's. Weighs 48 lbs. 48 lbs Yeah,
- 4:55yeah. So I'm terrified of how big this
- 4:58dog's going to be. I'm not terrified at all.
- 5:00As a matter of fact, every time I tell people that, you know,
- 5:04when they ask what kind of puppy we got and I say Great Dane,
- 5:06they're like, wow, those get big.
- 5:08I'm thinking, here's going to be my new reaction when someone
- 5:11says that. I'm like, oh, not too much and
- 5:13see how long I can playoff. That I don't know Great Danes
- 5:16can get. Bigger.
- 5:17Oh yeah, that would be pretty fun.
- 5:19Maybe they'll be like, wait, you know what a Great Dane they'd be
- 5:21like? Yeah, they're like medium sized
- 5:23dogs. They're a big.
- 5:24Deal. I don't know.
- 5:26That might work. I'm going to see, I'm going to
- 5:28try that on some people because that's always the, that's the
- 5:31always first thing someone says that's going to be a big dog.
- 5:34Second thing they say, big poop. Yeah, right, Right.
- 5:38Both things are true. So all of our other dogs that
- 5:42you know, people have said that's a big dog, but usually
- 5:44they ask, you know, how much food is that?
- 5:46You know I haven't been. It's a lot of food.
- 5:47It's a lot. It is a lot, but.
- 5:50OK, so any you're wondering currently 6 to 8 cups, something
- 5:53like that. Yeah, yeah, but she's doing
- 5:55good. And for a second here, you might
- 5:57be able to see her if she's snoozing.
- 5:59I don't know. Nope.
- 6:01She doesn't make the camera, but that's OK.
- 6:03If you follow us on Facebook, I believe I, Oh, I don't know if I
- 6:09put it on our Facebook. Page to put it on there.
- 6:11Yeah, but family's doing well. She and her dog brother
- 6:16Toblerone are besties and we're even though she makes life more
- 6:21chaotic, we certainly do enjoy having her around.
- 6:25Are you going to tell the people her name?
- 6:27We're just her dog brother. Oh, did we not tell him yet?
- 6:30I don't think so. Maybe I did it again on my
- 6:32personal. I have no idea.
- 6:33Her name is Cleopatra. She goes by Miss Cleo.
- 6:37Keep lifting her head up and she's just annoying.
- 6:39I know she's just. Like and I'm pretty sure the
- 6:41camera doesn't allow for the the lap angle.
- 6:45It's fine, they don't need to see her, but she is there.
- 6:48So if you do happen to see a little bit of movement or she.
- 6:50Looks like a sleeping puppy. That's.
- 6:51What she looks like, Yeah, she got shots today and they said
- 6:54she might be sleepy and I said great, I could use a little.
- 6:57Bit a little older. Bit of a break, so but yeah,
- 7:01that's been our our fun is Luke recovering and having to not do
- 7:09what is instinctual to do. And I've had to tell him, you
- 7:13know, you need to do what's safest for you and the puppy and
- 7:17just let it be. Yep.
- 7:19You know if she pees on the floor, we'll live through it,
- 7:22right? Like no one's going to die if
- 7:24that happens, but you might hurt yourself if you go quickly to
- 7:27clean it up. Not thinking about bending and
- 7:30twisting cuz those are kind of no no's on your on your list of
- 7:38recovery actions right? Here it's a long list.
- 7:41Yeah, I. Mean bending and twisting
- 7:44involve literally almost anything that isn't.
- 7:48I would think so laying down. I would think so it that was,
- 7:52it's such a common thing. Well, we were driving the car.
- 7:54Go lay down. That's the that's the doctor's
- 7:57advice. Well, we were driving the car
- 7:59today and you were trying to turn back and do something like
- 8:02what? You're not doing that with
- 8:03twisting. And you're like, yeah, I'll stop
- 8:06because how do you do it without twisting?
- 8:08But I think overall though, in my opinion from not feeling your
- 8:12body at all, but I think you're recovering well.
- 8:14So thanks as an observer. That's great.
- 8:18I hope that the inside of my body agrees with you.
- 8:22I mean from your last surgery I feel like you're doing better,
- 8:26quicker. That last one was really a
- 8:29doozy. Yeah, yeah.
- 8:32Would you recommend it? With the no talking?
- 8:34I really wouldn't. Yeah, Yeah.
- 8:36No, I wouldn't either. I would say maybe just.
- 8:39That was terrible. Just.
- 8:41Suffer, That's the suffer is the answer.
- 8:45Yeah, I think that's what I would say, cuz just from the
- 8:48outside again, that one looking again, not in your body, but
- 8:51watching the misery you were. Feeling terrible?
- 8:55Yeah, yeah. I don't know.
- 8:57I mean, I'm still not 100% from that one, but I'm probably 90.
- 9:01Yeah, Yeah. Well, I think that, yeah.
- 9:05So there that. Those were the updates, nothing
- 9:07new with me. Probably no surgeries for you
- 9:11either. No, no, I'm not AI.
- 9:15Don't. I think I've had one in my whole
- 9:16life too. My wisdom teeth were removed my
- 9:19whole life so. That's a surgery.
- 9:22I think so. I mean, I got knocked out for
- 9:24it. OK.
- 9:25They cut, they cut you open. It probably is a surgery.
- 9:28Yeah, Yeah. I think it might.
- 9:30Well, it's a procedure. I don't know, it doesn't matter,
- 9:33but I think that. Oh, no, you're right.
- 9:35Because I had to go to a different place and it was
- 9:37called something something. Yeah, oral surgery something,
- 9:41something. Yeah, I went to a plastic
- 9:44surgeon office. To.
- 9:46Get my teeth removed. I didn't ask for other
- 9:49information. I probably should have been like
- 9:51what else can you do while I'm here?
- 9:53I'm already knocked out. Wow, just a little side bonus.
- 9:56Program right, right while you're in there.
- 9:58Wow. I didn't know what I would ask
- 10:02for, especially, you know, the years ago that it was, but I
- 10:05might have a different list today.
- 10:07You know, I maybe I would say, could you just replace my
- 10:09shoulder quick while you're in there, you know?
- 10:13I feel like that's not a plastic surgery situation.
- 10:16I might not be, but they do a lot of work.
- 10:18I don't know. I don't know as as I get older,
- 10:21I get more ads for these types of things.
- 10:24I don't, I don't think 20 year olds are getting the amount of
- 10:27plastics, not plastic surgery, but like Botox advertisements on
- 10:33their page like I get and Juvederm and things like that.
- 10:37I get quite a few. I don't know if you get that
- 10:41many of that, but. You'll notice my lack of
- 10:43response, Luke, to all of your comments because it's unsafe
- 10:48territory. Is it?
- 10:50Oh, sure. OK, well, Luke's talked about a
- 10:54few things around me and I'm sure I this is everybody feels
- 10:58this way, I think, is that the phone, your electronics are
- 11:02always spying on you, always spying on you.
- 11:05And they've heard Luke talk about things and the amount of
- 11:07things that show up in my feed for Luke, you know to.
- 11:11Why didn't you buy this? You clearly need golf shirts.
- 11:14I have 0 intention to go golfing and.
- 11:16I told you this because I I have somehow what is a shop account
- 11:22which is an Internet payment system or something that has
- 11:27your name and my e-mail and I didn't set it up but since it
- 11:32had my e-mail I could reset it. So you're saying you can get rid
- 11:37of all the I want? I want my specifically curated
- 11:42to me advertisements. I don't.
- 11:46Know what? I can't change the advertisers.
- 11:48I'm just saying the reason that I feel like that happened is
- 11:50because your name and probably your account with the Internet
- 11:57is connected to my e-mail, which I suspect is for a similar
- 12:01reason as why I get many texts that say, Amber, you would be
- 12:06super interested in this product which you have admitted.
- 12:08You give them my phone number. That's like when you're at the
- 12:11store and they're like, hey, do you need a, you sign up for this
- 12:15thing, we'll give you 10% off. I'm like, oh sure, sure, sure.
- 12:18You don't think they've ever asked for your e-mail?
- 12:21Well, yeah, that's that's what. They always get in your e-mail.
- 12:25A lot of times I don't. OK, A lot of times I give them
- 12:28your e-mail. I've told you that, you know
- 12:33that I've sat there. It's actually kind of a thing we
- 12:35do. And I have sat there while Luke
- 12:39and I've been out of register places and he purposely gives
- 12:42them my phone number. Luke is if you're hearing sounds
- 12:47in the background, he's trying to stop the other dog from
- 12:49making loud noises. So we apologize if you heard it,
- 12:54but that's just, you know, that's their life right now.
- 12:58A little bit of chaos, but a lot of bit of love.
- 13:02Furry. Yes, a lot of furry.
- 13:05A lot of furry sad dog eyeballs looking right at me.
- 13:08Yeah, but anyhow, so. You're not supposed to handle
- 13:12that, but. OK, I don't, I don't remember
- 13:14what we were, what we were talking about.
- 13:16We were talking about targeted advertising.
- 13:18Oh, oh, so. Do you think that it's good that
- 13:21we get targeted advertising? I feel like we should get more
- 13:24generalized advertising. I don't want, I mean, I would
- 13:27never. They're smart.
- 13:28They're like, you clearly want an item like this.
- 13:32And then, you know, frequently they do, well, not infrequently,
- 13:38more often than they probably should.
- 13:40They do end up selling me something, you know.
- 13:45That's because it's targeted. So what?
- 13:47For a number of reasons. But I didn't know I wanted it,
- 13:49and I would have never known about it if they didn't send it,
- 13:52You know, send me the advertisement.
- 13:53So you want the advertisers to convince you to spend more
- 13:56money? If it's the right item, yeah,
- 13:59yeah, yeah. I mean, we're also.
- 14:01You're missing out on all the random ads that might just be
- 14:04great or funny. I don't think most ads are
- 14:07funny, but there actually were a couple who were.
- 14:10Really, there's been some really good funny ads on purpose.
- 14:13Really. Yeah, that's like one of the.
- 14:16OK, give me one. OK, we're not on a Jeopardy
- 14:20Delight game where you get to be a talk show host.
- 14:23So denied. Wow, I mean I kind of do get to
- 14:27be a talk show. Hope a talk show Co host here.
- 14:30This is kind of like that. I don't know that's how this
- 14:34works. I ask questions.
- 14:35Literally almost every Super Bowl commercial is either comedy
- 14:39or like all the car commercials are like be an American, buy a
- 14:46car and then there's no I was giving you, there's multiple.
- 14:51I understand there's. OK, Yeah.
- 14:53Good. Speaking of of commercials in
- 14:57the Super Bowl, Super Bowl happened.
- 14:59Yes, it did. And one of our topics was going
- 15:03to be best Super Bowl commercial, but we missed the
- 15:05Super Bowl this year. Yeah, who won?
- 15:08I don't even know who played good.
- 15:10Yeah, So who? Knows not the ones who's the
- 15:15ones who've been winning. Not the Vikings, I think.
- 15:17I would know. Sadly, sadly is true.
- 15:20Can't. Not Kansas City.
- 15:24Who? Who cares?
- 15:25Kansas City Are they the ones who've been winning a lot?
- 15:29I don't know. I don't.
- 15:29Know Is that the one with Taylor Swift's Beyoncé?
- 15:32I think so. But yeah, they may or may wait.
- 15:34Is he? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:37That one, I'm pretty sure they didn't play OK.
- 15:40It was. You know who else probably
- 15:42didn't? Play.
- 15:42I do know it was Seattle because I think they won.
- 15:45Are they the Seahawks? They had Yep.
- 15:47And I the reason I know that they won is because apparently a
- 15:51guy that was on the Vikings last year when we did really good,
- 15:55they hired him as their quarterback.
- 15:58Oh, good for them and they won. And so now everyone says, well,
- 16:00if he would have just stayed here.
- 16:03I mean, OK, wow, I don't really wanna get in.
- 16:05That's how people are. But I was gonna ask.
- 16:08Do I know the other team that played?
- 16:10No, that's how much I cared. But I don't care either.
- 16:13OK, I just was. OK, but you can say you.
- 16:16Didn't want to offend people. We just talked about other
- 16:19stuff. Didn't say the Patriots OK
- 16:22without Tom Brady cuz he's retired.
- 16:25I didn't know what team he's on, but my question is, and maybe
- 16:29we're not going to actually get into that too much because maybe
- 16:32one day it'll be a topic, but how important is the
- 16:35quarterback? I'm not the person to ask that
- 16:37question or to answer that question, but I'm willing to ask
- 16:42it and then not pay attention to the answer.
- 16:45Well, I'm not a football person. Yeah, yeah.
- 16:48So. So I will tell you, but I will
- 16:50tell you this, they're critically important.
- 16:53Well, good, good. So it sounds like the guy who
- 16:55was on the Vikings was really good for the team who won.
- 16:59And yeah, go. It's like any team sport.
- 17:02You can't have the world's most awesome quarterback and everyone
- 17:07else be not great and also have a great team.
- 17:10Everyone has to be great and you need a great quarterback and
- 17:13then and. Probably a good coach.
- 17:15And then you right, you need a great coach and you need to play
- 17:17well every game and like, it's all the whole thing.
- 17:20Yeah. Oh, Speaking of all that, the
- 17:22Olympics are going on now. They are.
- 17:24People love it. I don't know what the medal
- 17:25count is, but I know that not Minnesota, that the US has won
- 17:31some, but like they're trailing to at least two other large
- 17:36countries. OK, good for them for doing
- 17:39whatever they're doing. It's.
- 17:40Another thing. I good for everyone.
- 17:42Another thing I don't care about.
- 17:43The one time I did care about the Olympics though was the one
- 17:48where they had ray gun. That was that was last year's
- 17:54Summer Olympics. Yeah, yeah.
- 17:56Did you know that they cancelled break dancing?
- 17:58Break break dancing as an Olympic sport immediately
- 18:02thereafter? I heard that, but I, I, I really
- 18:06only watched it because I heard of her break dancing routine and
- 18:10I had to watch it And it kind of, you know, it's one of those
- 18:13things where it's like, that's what it looks like when you put
- 18:16regular people into the Olympics.
- 18:18It's I'm just shocked you remembered her, Her stage name
- 18:21of. Course I did did.
- 18:22That OK. Did the kangaroo for her
- 18:26breakdance? She invented the kangaroo for
- 18:28her. Great for her breakdance routine
- 18:31and all five year old birthday parties.
- 18:33It's great and if you if you never saw it, you need to go
- 18:37back and see it. And if you are.
- 18:39Sitting here reminiscing. With me about how?
- 18:42Now, on the feet of actual athleticism, do you want to know
- 18:45what happened at this winter's Olympic Games?
- 18:48Sure. I watched a guy on ice skates
- 18:53do, I don't remember what kind of front flip or back flip with
- 18:56A twist or something. Holy moly.
- 19:00OK. And then he landed it on one
- 19:03foot? Which is illegal.
- 19:04I learned about this. I don't even watch the Olympics.
- 19:08It's illegal. It's.
- 19:09Probably because it's stupid. Yes, you're gonna die.
- 19:13Like don't do this. Yeah, yeah, it's a it's a move
- 19:16that's not and maybe they. Oh, did he like get
- 19:19disqualified? No, I don't think you could.
- 19:21You're he. Did touchdown the two feet at a
- 19:25little like a second leader, but he definitely landed it on one
- 19:28foot. Yeah, I don't know if anyone
- 19:31happened to watch the movie The Cutting Edge.
- 19:35That was a good movie about figure skating and I feel like
- 19:40they were trying to do an impossible move in that one.
- 19:43But anyhow, so the the move he did was very controversial and
- 19:48and not allowed. I don't know that he did it to
- 19:51be controversial. I mean, I don't know.
- 19:55Well, maybe he did. You'd have to think he's a very
- 19:57good athlete and he's probably practiced that a whole bunch of
- 19:59times to Sure. So he probably knew that he was
- 20:02going to land on one foot. Maybe he did.
- 20:04I bet he did. Do you?
- 20:05Want to know about another ice skating movie that was top top
- 20:10of its game? Mighty Ducks?
- 20:12Is that what you're talking about?
- 20:14Blades of Glory. OK man, that was not one of the
- 20:20best Will Ferrell movies. This is pretty spectacular
- 20:23though. It was pretty awful.
- 20:25I actually typically do like Will Ferrell and that was mid.
- 20:29It just was not. It was are we saying mid now or
- 20:32being hip? I am hip, I don't.
- 20:35Know OK I'm going to try to get hip with you so we.
- 20:37Good luck. Keep up we're.
- 20:38Going to keep it up together, you've not.
- 20:40Known the the young slang for a very, very long time.
- 20:46That's because I'm fine with both wherever I am and the fact
- 20:53that I currently use my slang from the 90s.
- 20:57Sure, I do both. Because I could care less, but
- 21:00it seems you must either hang out with a younger crowd.
- 21:04I do, or I am younger, or just stay more with it than me.
- 21:07Both those things. Both those.
- 21:09Things that's there it is. I also probably watch a lot more
- 21:13TV that has a younger crowd on it, you know?
- 21:16Like, I mean, some of the things I like to watch are probably
- 21:19using more hip slang, you know? That's probably true, yeah.
- 21:24Never thought about it that way but.
- 21:26Of course. But of course you.
- 21:28Know there are some shows I watch that I would say are very
- 21:31into current pop culture. Not that I'm into it, but the
- 21:36people on the shows are so. The one that our kids watching
- 21:40right now is in the 90's pop culture.
- 21:42It's funny. It's yeah.
- 21:43That's sort of the point though. Yes, yes, but, well, I don't
- 21:47know how long the Olympics is, but maybe next time we'll know
- 21:52what the medal count is. I won't know, but you might
- 21:55know. I might how well America did
- 21:59following it. Yeah.
- 22:01Yeah. Well, that's.
- 22:02Actually, I don't. Does it?
- 22:04Does it matter? Does a country get a gold medal
- 22:08or is it just like for bragging rights?
- 22:09Bragging rights, like all sports.
- 22:12Does it matter that the Seattle Seahawks won?
- 22:15That's what you said, right? Well, that's different because
- 22:18it's they're all the, they're the teams are playing the same
- 22:21sport. That's like saying.
- 22:24Oh, I give a. Like I don't get it, why is
- 22:26there a medal count? Because you're sending the best
- 22:31of the best to compete against the world on whatever sport it
- 22:34is. I mean I.
- 22:37You would you would hope that it were some.
- 22:41Maybe it's like a maybe it is. I was gonna say you would hope
- 22:45that it would be like China? No.
- 22:50India. Yeah.
- 22:51India. China, United States like
- 22:57population, you think like you have the most people, therefore
- 23:02you ought to have the most just by, you know, natural math have
- 23:08the most qualified folks. But but I don't I don't think
- 23:15that's the case. There's probably a mixture of
- 23:17that and socioeconomic status, and then a lot of it is like
- 23:23where you are. Right, right.
- 23:25Because like the people, I think, oh, I think that was
- 23:28another thing I heard. It's weird that I have these
- 23:30facts in my head. I don't even care and don't
- 23:33watch it. And somehow they're there.
- 23:36Some country won its first ever Winter Olympics medal and it was
- 23:42that maybe the 1st South American country period like
- 23:46Brazil won. I don't.
- 23:49I don't actually know what they want.
- 23:51I think who? Who?
- 23:53Who knows it's maybe bobsledding.
- 23:55Nope. Who?
- 23:57Slow down on the bobsledding. We're coming back to that.
- 24:00Maybe it was the skiing ski jump.
- 24:04Anyway, I think it was Brazil and I think it was the first
- 24:07ever country from the continent of South America to win a winter
- 24:14medal. I don't feel that that's as
- 24:16improbable. What?
- 24:19That's what I'm saying. Bobsled team.
- 24:21Oh boy. Winning the gold.
- 24:25Yeah, this is the second time this has come up on the podcast.
- 24:29Pivotal movie, cool runnings. Pivotal movie about underdogs.
- 24:36Who, like you, don't want to know other pop culture and
- 24:38dreadlocks in the Olympics have to do with each other?
- 24:40Snoop Doggy Dizzle. That's true, but we're talking
- 24:44about Cool Runnings and if this if you didn't watch that movie,
- 24:49I don't. Everybody watch that.
- 24:51From our age group and it's. I.
- 24:54SPY Dry cool runnings doesn't hit your head.
- 24:58Chills down my spine. Let's get it I.
- 25:02Don't think I know you. I don't think we saw that same.
- 25:05I don't you couldn't have possibly seen that movie.
- 25:08So thinking to begin that movie, I don't remember, but that I
- 25:13think that was the true tale of overcoming any possible odd
- 25:18there. There's no mountains in Jamaica.
- 25:21Dry, Cool. Yeah, yeah.
- 25:24That was the best Olympic movie that I've ever seen.
- 25:28Probably was. Quite possibly the only Olympic
- 25:31movie that I've ever. Seen quite possibly.
- 25:34Yeah, I'm getting. Probable even.
- 25:36I'm gonna guess that, but I mean, man, that was a great one.
- 25:39It was a good one, yeah. But we did talk a lot about the
- 25:42Olympics, didn't we? It's a big deal.
- 25:44Well, it's happening. It is.
- 25:46And I think, I think I, I like, I like the sports in general and
- 25:52the Olympics, like the ideas of, you know, competition and, and I
- 25:59don't know, like what, what it means to be the best at
- 26:03something. Like I think that that's sort of
- 26:07a cool concept on its own cuz people push themselves to be the
- 26:15most skilled they possibly can be with it, like against anyone
- 26:21throughout the world, which is pretty fantastic.
- 26:23Mm hmm. Mm hmm.
- 26:26Well, yeah, I mean, in having the world show up together to do
- 26:29something competitive, I mean, I feel like maybe that's, I don't
- 26:34know, it's a positive thing. I think if there was an Olympic
- 26:37medal for best podcast ever, we would probably win it.
- 26:40I don't think so. I don't even know that we would
- 26:43win, but we would enter. Maybe we could be like ray gun,
- 26:48right? Exactly.
- 26:49We would enter. Everyone would be like, look at
- 26:52these two idiots. Right.
- 26:54I mean. Unbelievable.
- 26:56I mean that's the thing, like if you don't put your name out
- 26:58there, who's going to No, but you know, someone has to
- 27:01nominate you for this and why not nominate yourself?
- 27:04I mean, I'm totally fine with that.
- 27:06I would do it in a heartbeat. We actually have put ourselves
- 27:10into something that was some kind of a pod 2 podcast
- 27:13competitiony things, one we sadly did not make.
- 27:19But my whole point in doing it was really to get other people,
- 27:22you know, with the company to listen to it.
- 27:24And that was the Minneapolis Saint Paul Best podcast.
- 27:28Right. Yeah, thanks for those who of
- 27:30you who voted for us next year, next year.
- 27:33That could be our. Year I'm hoping we could get
- 27:35like enough votes to make the list of is it possible to get on
- 27:40here so there's that one and then there's this other one that
- 27:43we just started and we'll have a few episodes in which is
- 27:48essentially just rating the podcast and it's it's not
- 27:51specific to Minneapolis Saint Paul it's AI don't know where
- 27:56and I can't remember the name of it and I should remember the
- 27:59name of it because like we were you know we were approached to
- 28:03be a part of it for voting so I I believe at some point I
- 28:07probably should be putting on the social medias that that
- 28:11exists but. It's saying on Facebook.
- 28:15Yes yes okay, I don't remember the name of it, but anyhow, so
- 28:19he reached out and said hey y'all should enter it and.
- 28:22That was the one where I said hey, this one looks like it
- 28:24might not actually be spam. We get so much spam.
- 28:28A lot of spam. But that's okay, It's kind of
- 28:30fun to see. I mean, we wouldn't have been a
- 28:33part of the Illuminati if it wasn't for spam.
- 28:35So you just never know where the.
- 28:37That hasn't hurt us, I'm just saying.
- 28:39I know, I know you don't know where the next great opportunity
- 28:42is going to come. It could be from something like
- 28:45that. But you know what's interesting
- 28:49is we had a topic and are you going to be mad if I shift from
- 28:52that topic and that question today?
- 28:55You mean it just randomly have a question I.
- 28:57Have a different question? Probably.
- 29:00I mean, have you met me? OK, well.
- 29:04We could. Do you want to try it out?
- 29:05Just blind, Blind questions? Sure, blind.
- 29:09But you got to promise we'd do the next one next week.
- 29:11Yeah, I'm ready for the next one.
- 29:13I'm actually really ready for that one because that's a
- 29:15winner. Really.
- 29:16Ready. OK.
- 29:17I'm really ready for next one. But Luke, let me ask you a
- 29:24question. Bell bell, Bell ladies and
- 29:30gentlemen, the moment you've all been waiting for in this corner
- 29:35we have Amber claiming to weigh in at 135 lbs with not just red
- 29:42hair, but a red haired dog in her lap.
- 29:46Both have come to battle me for the crown of beating me even
- 29:52more. And in this corner we have Luke
- 29:57who has I think just recently maybe trimmed his beard keeping
- 30:00up while while recovering, he is coming in with a little bit of
- 30:07a, a uptick in your wins. So that's great.
- 30:11He's got, we've got 8 ties, you know which is which?
- 30:15Is that's a lot. Great there.
- 30:17Seem to be less of those lately. And you've come up a couple.
- 30:21A couple. I have won 14.
- 30:24OK. And you're at 10.
- 30:27So I'm not being trounced anymore, I'm just getting
- 30:31smoked. No, just, I mean a little, OK.
- 30:3414 to 10, that's 140%. But yes, yes.
- 30:39So, Luke, I have a question for you.
- 30:43OK. Is around the Olympics.
- 30:45I really hope this isn't skewed in your favor, but I.
- 30:49Doubt it, because it's probably not.
- 30:51I have not you. Don't like questions that aren't
- 30:54skewed in your? Favor so So my question is yeah,
- 31:01what sport would you in a dream world want to go to the Olympics
- 31:10for? And is it either summer or
- 31:14winter? Sure, I don't care.
- 31:15I don't know what plays. On well, one's in the summer
- 31:18and. One's in the.
- 31:19Winter, yeah. Does it have anything to do with
- 31:21the weather? I doubt it.
- 31:22Somewhat a little bit. Some of the stuff's like about
- 31:25snow and some of it's about sand.
- 31:27Yeah, that's a good question. Yeah, it wasn't on our list.
- 31:32Usually we talk about these to figure out what we would say.
- 31:37And do you know why we do that? I know, I know.
- 31:39But we talked about the Olympics for a good 20 minutes and I kind
- 31:43of feel like. It was like that episode, we
- 31:45talked about the dog for 45 minutes and then just totally
- 31:49changed the subject. I can't even remember what it
- 31:51was about. Yeah, yeah.
- 31:52No, I want to stick on theme. You know, we saw the ring.
- 31:55If I, if I could it compete in it.
- 31:58Meaning, of course, meaning I'm at the top of my sure game and
- 32:04the top of the world's game. I mean, that's a lot to ask.
- 32:08I don't know. Well, that's what an Olympian
- 32:10is, Sure. I mean, it means by default, it
- 32:13means that accepting break dancing that you would you would
- 32:21pick that OK. I mean, OK, so I'm really good
- 32:26at something. What do I want it to be?
- 32:29There's so many to choose from. Yeah, there's like basketball.
- 32:35There's what? You.
- 32:36Don't play basketball. I didn't say I wanted to pick
- 32:39that. I was just gonna start naming
- 32:41some sports. Sports, you know, to engage you,
- 32:44to engage the audience. But.
- 32:46Yeah, thought I would have a discussion.
- 32:48Yep. Yeah.
- 32:49So. So basketball, I've got 2
- 32:51seconds and you cut me off. Good Lord.
- 32:53So basketball, there's beach volleyball, I think there's
- 32:59regular volleyball, there's soccer, there's tennis, there's
- 33:04downhill skiing. All kinds of racing.
- 33:06Bobsledding. You know, it might be fun.
- 33:12Speed skating. I just got off on one which
- 33:14could be my answer cuz it looks so peaceful.
- 33:16All right, let's hear. It I don't know if this is it,
- 33:18I'm just getting closer to 1. You're the one who sparked a
- 33:21random question, so you gotta give me a little bit.
- 33:24You gotta give me a little bit to like, think about it.
- 33:26Yeah, yeah, this is this is what this podcast was born on.
- 33:30Random questions. Yeah, random questions.
- 33:33So maybe whatever it's called when they do the ski jump where
- 33:40they then they just float for like a while.
- 33:45OK, so ski jumping. Sure.
- 33:47No, but there's a bunch of those.
- 33:49There's ones where they do tricks and stuff.
- 33:52I'm just talking about the one where they like sort of semi fly
- 33:56a little bit to where they put their their feet up and they go
- 34:00and they go for a while. So that could be 1, but I do
- 34:07also like I watched the one briefly where the US was playing
- 34:13Germany and curling, a sport that either recently became an
- 34:17Olympic sport or recently it's been there for has had its
- 34:20moment or something. Because I remember it was like
- 34:23nobody talked about and then all of a sudden it was like famous.
- 34:25And then they started opening like curling gyms and yeah, not
- 34:29for lifting weights with your biceps, but the, you know, the
- 34:32one where you slide a rock across the ice and you.
- 34:35Use a broom. And then you you broom the
- 34:37little path where you want it to go.
- 34:39So that seemed like kind of a fun sport.
- 34:44And then that's OK. Well, there's a couple of winter
- 34:46ones, so summer ones. I mean, I've always really liked
- 34:50soccer and played soccer a lot as a kid.
- 34:54So it could be that. Because then also the other side
- 34:58benefit of that is if I'm in the Olympics and I'm playing soccer,
- 35:02the odds of that I'm playing with very talented people is
- 35:05cool, which would be cool. I think like if you were a super
- 35:09talented player and didn't normally play with these super
- 35:12talented people, it would be cool to play with these super
- 35:14talented people, much like an All Star game.
- 35:16Yeah, yeah, yeah. Man what are other summer ones
- 35:23cuz we're not in summer right now so it's hard to think about
- 35:25them. There's a lot of water stuff,
- 35:27swimming, diving. Yeah, lots of diving.
- 35:31I like swimming and yeah, well, I don't really like diving all
- 35:34that particularly much. Some.
- 35:36Kind of like swim races, right? Like there was Michael Phelps.
- 35:39He was a big deal. Yeah, I'm just saying like.
- 35:42Really wasn't biking. Isn't there biking in the
- 35:44Olympics or no? Probably maybe that's but I feel
- 35:47like maybe it hasn't had its moment or something.
- 35:50OK, cuz Tour de France is like the biking thing.
- 35:54All right. When they have the biking stuff
- 35:57at the remember the X Games, they still do that.
- 36:01I know where it's like more the old sports that don't have their
- 36:04Olympic thing and it's like skaters and bikers that do
- 36:07tricks and stuff. I think that was here once.
- 36:10It was. Maybe it's here more than once,
- 36:12I don't know. Yeah.
- 36:13So what would I want it to be? I don't know.
- 36:23I mean, I think that you should. If you I do have to make a
- 36:26decision because you did decide to give me this.
- 36:29Random question, I thought it was a good timing it well and I
- 36:32feel like. You, I'm just worried that it's
- 36:34going to be one that you're going to be like Psych.
- 36:36I win. I doubt.
- 36:37It. I doubt it.
- 36:38So. I doubt it.
- 36:42Yeah. So just hurry up.
- 36:45The down the mountain one. No, it's not.
- 36:47Can't, can't. I can't.
- 36:48You've seen me. I don't.
- 36:50Yep, I got to think about stuff. Yeah, OK, but dead air is not
- 36:56fun, so how about you keep thinking and you could ask me
- 37:01the question. OK, sure.
- 37:03Yeah, you sounds good. You start talking.
- 37:05But I do have to step back one second because you had said that
- 37:10you. Know you're not going to take
- 37:11soccer from me. Right.
- 37:13I'm not. I'm probably not going to take
- 37:14any of the ones that you want. That's fine.
- 37:16You had said excluding break dancing, so I can't be.
- 37:20No, no, no, no, no, no. I mean, OK, so that was in the
- 37:24you could certainly pick up Ray gun 2 point O.
- 37:27Yeah, yeah, that's what I'd want to do.
- 37:30Because you saw those people who were watching it, they were a
- 37:34whole nother level of cool, like all the judges in the break
- 37:38dancing. They were, for sure.
- 37:39And like the outfits? May he rest in peace.
- 37:43They were, I mean, just great. I I would want to be a part of
- 37:47that Plus, like, I mean, you can hate on Ray gun all you want and
- 37:51she probably did take someone else's opportunity, but you
- 37:54know, I mean, I feel like. Yeah, wasn't she like the one of
- 37:58the two people in the country of Australia on the judges panel?
- 38:03Yes, yes, it felt a little. Little questionable.
- 38:06Yeah, me to me. But you know, I don't hate her
- 38:09game for that. So I would want to do that
- 38:11because, you know, I would want to be compared to the most
- 38:14memorable breakdancer of all time.
- 38:18They would either be like well she wasn't as bad as Ray Gun.
- 38:21Wow. Or Oh my God, she was as bad as
- 38:26Ray gun. Now you're talking about being
- 38:28at the peak performance I'm talking about.
- 38:29Being my performance. HUD Day.
- 38:32Like how would I do break dancing today?
- 38:36Probably a little bit like ray gun.
- 38:37I know, I know. But maybe I'd get a really cool
- 38:40outfit, you know, and stuff like that too.
- 38:42And the music is really good during that.
- 38:44I've really that would be it, that would be my sport.
- 38:49You wanna do break I? Would do that and I would
- 38:51probably actually break something too, so I would be
- 38:55full on in. Of course I had thought about
- 38:58bobsledding. I've been inspired OK from a
- 39:02very young age, but I would never be able to do it without
- 39:07saying Einspired Dry Cool Runnings and I feel like that
- 39:10would automatically get me disqualified because they've
- 39:13like, well day. You cancelled for sure.
- 39:15Well, they would say, you know, that sounds like you're you're
- 39:18really on the Jamaican team and you need to be on the American
- 39:21team as this is where I am from. So I'll leave that in my
- 39:26childhood of desires of where I would want to be.
- 39:29And today, in today's world, I would want to do a sport that
- 39:35someones done real badly. Real bad.
- 39:39And just see where see where the chips lie, you know, like where
- 39:43do they fall based on on my ability today, which is hero.
- 39:48You imagine the announcers? Yeah.
- 39:51Good Lord, Bob, we have another one.
- 39:55And you know what I would do right after that when they come
- 39:58and they interview you, I would say, oh, you know, I'm so
- 40:01grateful for everything out there.
- 40:03But the thing I'm most grateful for, family, friends, all of
- 40:07that, is that my audience from arguing ever after.
- 40:11That's it. And then boom.
- 40:14Blow up. I'm in.
- 40:15That's it. Now I want you to win.
- 40:17I mean lose. Do you feel that?
- 40:20Way if you go, I need you to just lose so hard so.
- 40:23Hard. Yeah, I.
- 40:24Where people are like, yeah, what is happening?
- 40:28I've got to see her, you know, I mean, think about all the two
- 40:31second clip listens we'd get to from that, I mean.
- 40:34She got famous, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 40:37So that's what I would do right there, but I would try my
- 40:42hardest I think, because I think that is still a requirement.
- 40:45Like don't purposefully biff it, but my best would biff it.
- 40:50So there you go, that's my answer.
- 40:52And I don't even care if it's my ability today.
- 40:55Just go out there and have fun and look cool and be around cool
- 40:59people. Oddly enough, while you were
- 41:01thinking, that actually helped me.
- 41:02So OK, OK, so now I'm ready so. So if I'm going to pick one.
- 41:08You are. It's well, of course they all
- 41:12will have their like draws like fame and money, but but I was
- 41:19actually thinking the whole time I'm like, would I actually want
- 41:22to be like famous sports, etcetera, etcetera.
- 41:26And I kind of thought no, because that comes with like a
- 41:29high level of everything, like expectations and scrutiny.
- 41:32And if people like, love you or they hate you or they, you know,
- 41:37so then I actually, I think my answer is curling because like
- 41:41when I watched them doing that sport, I'm like these guys, some
- 41:44of them are just totally chill. Yeah.
- 41:47Like they're not, you know, muscle bound adonises that are
- 41:51like spectacles of the human condition.
- 41:55And not to say not to. Happen to be a curl or
- 41:58listening? Right, No, no.
- 41:59And and not to say that there weren't obviously, you know very
- 42:04in shape men doing this sport. I don't know if it's also a
- 42:08women. Sports.
- 42:09Is it? Yeah, I've only seen it twice
- 42:10actually in. My life to it.
- 42:12So cuz here's why I like this sport.
- 42:16There's a couple reasons. One, they got some sort of weird
- 42:18cool shoe that's got like a real slippery part and then a real
- 42:22sticky part for the ice, so they could slide really far on the
- 42:25ice but then also stop right away.
- 42:27Smart. Much better than an ice skate.
- 42:30I still want to know what's up with those shoes.
- 42:32It's probably like, yeah, I was gonna felt or something on part
- 42:35of it, but how do you get it without soaking up into your
- 42:38shoe? Anyway, this sounds like it's.
- 42:40A really good invention for Minnesotan.
- 42:42Yeah, just to go go hang out on the ice.
- 42:44Yeah. Anyway, so that's not really one
- 42:48of the main reasons, but it's a small side benefit.
- 42:52It's mostly that it's an Olympic recognized sport, so you can
- 42:55have your like moment. Yeah, but I'm almost sure that
- 42:59you're not gonna be like the the, you know, returning
- 43:04champion of the basketball game or the soccer game.
- 43:09Or like the and all that. Or like Michael Phelps or like,
- 43:13you know, you're not going to be like the talk of because nobody,
- 43:17no offense to the curlers, nobody in the US is like, I
- 43:21don't care about any other sports.
- 43:22I just want to know what the curling team did.
- 43:25Yeah, yeah, they might get there and maybe they have their
- 43:29sectors of the population that are all about it.
- 43:31I'm just saying it's not like because it's not a peak athlete
- 43:35situation that I think that it's a more accepting sport.
- 43:41So I like that. I like that it's more
- 43:44approachable. It seems lower stakes, like even
- 43:48probably in the, in the, the practicing of it, you can be
- 43:53really good at it. Like a guy like me, like, hey,
- 43:55I'm not perfect. I could go do this sport like
- 43:58I'd like to go try out now and I might be able to actually get
- 44:03in. You have to be really good at
- 44:04aiming. That's the thing.
- 44:06So like with the with the big rock and you slide it and, and
- 44:11who knows, maybe I'm good at that.
- 44:12I've never tried that in my life other than, you know, ice
- 44:15hockey, which, who hasn't tried that in Minnesota?
- 44:18I haven't tried that. OK, well I grew up with a nice
- 44:22rink two blocks from my house. And I mean.
- 44:24So did everybody actually, Yeah, I just thought about that.
- 44:27We kind of all did. There's 1-2 blocks from our
- 44:29house right now. Yeah, and not even.
- 44:32That's true. So I think that's, I think
- 44:34that's my choice. I think it's curling because it
- 44:36looks fun and it looks kind of chill.
- 44:39And you could still be like, you could still say like I'm an
- 44:42Olympic gold medalist. Yeah, without having to, you
- 44:46know, be a champion level sprinter or weightlifter or any,
- 44:50oh, weightlifting. That was another one.
- 44:52I mean, is that fun though? I I.
- 44:53No, no, I wouldn't choose that. I just was that randomly just
- 44:56came out of my mouth. And also comma, it's a sport in
- 44:59the Olympics. Do you think curlers are like,
- 45:02you know, you have like the Figure skaters they're
- 45:04practicing from, like walking? Right.
- 45:07It's so many of these sports. Like that long or is it like you
- 45:11think something maybe? I'm only doing it for a few.
- 45:13No, absolutely not. You know what I would love is
- 45:17anybody from it will. Turn into that though, I bet
- 45:20you. I would love anyone, if you know
- 45:22anyone from the US, curling. Olympics comma, comma.
- 45:27I'm pretty sure somebody on it's either this year's or like or
- 45:34the four years ago Winter Olympics curling team had a
- 45:37Minnesota, I think or a connection to Minnesota.
- 45:41They talked about on the news because we do that.
- 45:43We're like, this person had an uncle that was from Minnesota
- 45:47and we're like, yeah, uncle from Minnesota.
- 45:50So if anyone listening knows anybody on the Minnesotan
- 45:55curling, sorry. Well, now we'll take Minnesotan
- 45:58curling, too. Doesn't need to be the Olympics.
- 46:01Share this with them because I would love to know a little bit
- 46:04more about the background of how long have you been doing it.
- 46:07And maybe we want to get on the ice and give it a little whirl.
- 46:11Yeah, give the curl A whirl. I just give up the brilliant
- 46:15tangling to get more people in. And we want some of them shoes.
- 46:19Yeah, yeah. And he's going to be recovered
- 46:22soon. And when he's recovered, I feel
- 46:24like this could. Be I want to give the curl a
- 46:26whirl. Yes, yes.
- 46:30So you know what? If you're out there and you're
- 46:32that person who's like I, for some bizarro reason, happen to
- 46:35know some curlers, let us know. Get us into it.
- 46:39Share it. Much like we want you to do with
- 46:42our podcast. I mean.
- 46:44Get into it and share it. Yes, yes.
- 46:48So there you go. This was an unscripted question,
- 46:50but it. Totally wasn't ready for it and
- 46:53so different than the actual question that we had set up.
- 46:56But we'll be ready for that next.
- 46:58Yeah, we will. Fighting.
- 46:59OK, Now that we did that, what did they do?
- 47:02You already talked about it a little bit.
- 47:03But I got it. Main thing is you got to like it
- 47:07and share it with your friends and peoples and tell tell folks
- 47:11to watch. Us and follow.
- 47:13Oh yeah, follow and and rate and oh and most importantly, vote
- 47:17yeah for me. No, for the right one.
- 47:20It's 10 to 14 you guys. I still need help because then
- 47:23it'll be 11 to 14. It'll take.
- 47:27If I won five in a row, I'd be winning.
- 47:29Wow. It took a little bit to do that
- 47:30math. I'm just saying.
- 47:31You were saying I was going to be an Olympian in math.
- 47:34When you were listening to the stories, which one felt more
- 47:36like where you would want to be? Minnesota's Curlers Association,
- 47:41that's where. You know what?
- 47:43Or any of my my good OG break dancing friends.
- 47:47There was great music. I know.
- 47:49I'll give you that. OK, we'll.
- 47:51Do that and then we'll catch you next.
- 47:54Yep, We'll see you next time, people.
- 47:55Thank you. Bye.
- 47:56I just want
