- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to the Pits Talk podcast, brought to you by
- 0:03Speaker 1: Shannon's Insurance for your dose of all things F one
- 0:06Speaker 1: and Moto GP. Alrighty Sena Agy is welcome back to
- 0:11Speaker 1: Fox Sports.
- 0:12Speaker 2: How are you going?
- 0:14Speaker 3: Oh good?
- 0:15Speaker 4: Thanks for having me back home in Australia now in
- 0:17Speaker 4: the sunshine, which has been really needed after a busy
- 0:20Speaker 4: first part of the year.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Let's touch on Thailand, because what a rollercoaster of a
- 0:25Speaker 1: weekend for you. I mean, before we get into anything
- 0:29Speaker 1: there your first career pole position in Moto two class.
- 0:33Speaker 2: What was that like? How are you feeling for that?
- 0:37Speaker 4: I felt great all weekend. I was competitive all weekend
- 0:39Speaker 4: and felt great with my bike. It's always unknown going
- 0:42Speaker 4: to Thailand.
- 0:43Speaker 3: We test in.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Hareth say like winter conditions, really cold, full of grip,
- 0:47Speaker 4: everybody super fast, so credit to my crew. We took
- 0:50Speaker 4: pretty much out base from Herath and it worked in Thailand,
- 0:54Speaker 4: which was good.
- 0:56Speaker 3: We hit the ground.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Running, no great Friday, great Saturday morning. We were down
- 1:02Speaker 4: on top speed all weekend on sector one and two,
- 1:05Speaker 4: so I was super always in the top three, top
- 1:07Speaker 4: two in sector three four, so I knew I really
- 1:11Speaker 4: need I was losing three tenths on each straight for
- 1:13Speaker 4: free and it would be from like one hundred to
- 1:17Speaker 4: two ninety k's an hour, so there was nothing to
- 1:19Speaker 4: do with like getting off the corner or anything.
- 1:21Speaker 3: We were writing really well on that aspect, and so.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Yeah, for the pole app, I found a little slipstream
- 1:26Speaker 4: through out as turn one and that just allowed me
- 1:29Speaker 4: to go through sector three and four. How I wanted
- 1:32Speaker 4: on par with the others and use my strong student
- 1:36Speaker 4: sector four and yeah, nearly got nearly when it was
- 1:39Speaker 4: all over when I caught Aaron, But yeah, I went
- 1:43Speaker 4: a little bit hot into the last corner, I went
- 1:44Speaker 4: a little bit deep, missed a little bit of time
- 1:47Speaker 4: on the exit. But the speed that I went into
- 1:50Speaker 4: the last corner to get past him actually ended up
- 1:53Speaker 4: helping me because it's not a very long run to
- 1:55Speaker 4: the line.
- 1:55Speaker 3: So yeah, pole AUP was cool.
- 1:58Speaker 4: I've always felt I've been a little unlucky on pole position,
- 2:01Speaker 4: sorry like going for pole in the past, I've been
- 2:03Speaker 4: close and something's always happened or someone with better track
- 2:07Speaker 4: position gets us. So yeah, so yeah, that was something
- 2:10Speaker 4: cool to tick off. But quickly after that I was
- 2:13Speaker 4: already thinking about the race and yeah that was that
- 2:16Speaker 4: was another story but pole position's cool and I'll never
- 2:20Speaker 4: forget it.
- 2:21Speaker 1: I mean, what a way to start twenty twenty six
- 2:22Speaker 1: with ticking off pole position. Last year you had the wins,
- 2:25Speaker 1: you had the podium. Now you've ticked that box. You
- 2:27Speaker 1: got the Teaso watch.
- 2:28Speaker 2: To prove it.
- 2:29Speaker 1: But then someday, like you said, everything changed. So fill
- 2:33Speaker 1: us in because we're watching here on the broadcast back
- 2:35Speaker 1: home in Australia and we heard Jack Appleyard saying to
- 2:38Speaker 1: Matt Burt that they changed the ECU but they couldn't
- 2:42Speaker 1: give us any more info. And then obviously we saw
- 2:45Speaker 1: what happened. So what actually happened from your point of view.
- 2:50Speaker 4: From the first lap of the race, I was I
- 2:54Speaker 4: had not the same and we're already struggling on top speed,
- 2:57Speaker 4: but there was something us sluggish, feeling didn't bike was
- 3:01Speaker 4: not pulling off the first two sectors worse than the
- 3:06Speaker 4: previous day. I was using first gear off the hairpin
- 3:10Speaker 4: that should have been second, Like, I just felt that
- 3:12Speaker 4: it just wasn't.
- 3:13Speaker 3: All my shift points are really late, and that.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Was on the first lap, so I was a little
- 3:17Speaker 4: bit radic on the brakes, like I made that mistake
- 3:19Speaker 4: into turn three and gave away the potential lead there
- 3:23Speaker 4: because Guevara went wide in front of me, and I
- 3:25Speaker 4: was just really hungry on the breaks, passing in a bit,
- 3:28Speaker 4: not crazy spots, but just riding a bit too aggressive
- 3:32Speaker 4: at the beginning, just to catch up the ground that
- 3:36Speaker 4: I felt like I was losing. And then yeah, unfortunately,
- 3:38Speaker 4: coming out of turn nine, when I threw my body
- 3:42Speaker 4: in a changed direction, the bike lost power and then yeah,
- 3:46Speaker 4: I couldn't when I threw my body over, I didn't
- 3:48Speaker 4: expect it to just completely cut out and die on me,
- 3:50Speaker 4: so I couldn't react. And where I'm on the middle
- 3:53Speaker 4: of the track and I'm luckily that David and Philip
- 3:57Speaker 4: are okay because it could have been a pretty bad
- 3:59Speaker 4: accident and my helf. Honestly, I think I got away
- 4:01Speaker 4: with it pretty unscathed, like I did. So, yeah, I
- 4:05Speaker 4: pushed the bike back to the box when I saw
- 4:07Speaker 4: the red flag, and yeah, it was just running in
- 4:10Speaker 4: that heat, which was terrible. And credit to the guys
- 4:12Speaker 4: they did change these year. Yeah, long story short, there
- 4:16Speaker 4: was just a fault code somewhere on a pardle on
- 4:19Speaker 4: the bike, and I think once the bike registers a
- 4:21Speaker 4: folded it shut it down. It was something to do
- 4:23Speaker 4: with the engine or anything like that. So, yeah, there's
- 4:25Speaker 4: something not quite right, and the guys changed it. All
- 4:28Speaker 4: Hends on deck Motor three team were in our box
- 4:30Speaker 4: and it was a b's a beehive, sorry in the
- 4:34Speaker 4: box and I was just trying to stay calm and yeah,
- 4:36Speaker 4: a little bit of a confusion with the rules regarding
- 4:38Speaker 4: starting from pitt lane second time. Yeah, I'm not sure.
- 4:42Speaker 4: I think that needs to be clarified a little bit
- 4:43Speaker 4: more clear in future.
- 4:44Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 4:45Speaker 4: I should have started from the back of the grid
- 4:47Speaker 4: on the second one, and I think I could have
- 4:49Speaker 4: rode it to at least score a point, but luckily
- 4:52Speaker 4: they awarded I think on Tuesday we got told that
- 4:55Speaker 4: they awarded half points, which I understand, Like, Okay, if
- 4:59Speaker 4: you're the winner, I understand you'll be a little bit
- 5:01Speaker 4: dirty that you didn't get your points, But in the
- 5:03Speaker 4: end of seven, that race probably doesn't deserve full points
- 5:05Speaker 4: and it limited the damage for us in the championship.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I'm just thinking about this and it's only just comes
- 5:11Speaker 1: to my thought. Do you think a problem like this
- 5:13Speaker 1: because we know that the track temperature and the changes
- 5:16Speaker 1: from when you guys were practicing on Friday. Saturday was
- 5:18Speaker 1: a vastly different to Sunday. If you had had like
- 5:21Speaker 1: a morning warm up or something, you might have already
- 5:23Speaker 1: been able to pick up on this problem. Do you
- 5:25Speaker 1: think that would have helped or it was just a
- 5:27Speaker 1: freak incident where it happened in that moment.
- 5:30Speaker 4: It's freaky. I think it was a freak accident. Well,
- 5:34Speaker 4: not accident like failure, let's say. But well, if we
- 5:38Speaker 4: had warm up and it happened to warm up, then
- 5:40Speaker 4: obviously something would have been changed before the race.
- 5:43Speaker 3: But yeah, I'm not sure.
- 5:45Speaker 4: And it's actually no fault to the team either, Like
- 5:47Speaker 4: they can they can't get too down about it, and
- 5:49Speaker 4: I said that pretty clear when I come in, like
- 5:51Speaker 4: nobody is to should get really angry or upset about it,
- 5:56Speaker 4: because there's nothing in our control, you know, in Moto
- 5:58Speaker 4: two where we don't play with you likes we don't.
- 6:01Speaker 4: You know, the engines are all sealed everything, so there's
- 6:03Speaker 4: nothing independently that we're doing different that's failed, you know,
- 6:06Speaker 4: it's just the equipment we've been given. And I'm sure
- 6:08Speaker 4: we will be rectified when we get to Brazil with
- 6:10Speaker 4: new parts or an understanding of what happened for future races,
- 6:14Speaker 4: because it seems to be something to do it's happened
- 6:16Speaker 4: to me before last year. It seems to be something
- 6:18Speaker 4: to do with like catastrophic temperatures because everybody's at bike's overheating.
- 6:22Speaker 3: But looks like, I don't know, it looks like it's
- 6:25Speaker 3: happened to me, to.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Us, but I mean taking away that look at your
- 6:29Speaker 1: Thailand results. We know you've been stronger in the past year.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Obviously had pole position, you were fast from the get
- 6:34Speaker 1: go leading into the twenty twenty six season, your third
- 6:37Speaker 1: year with the team, third year in the World Championship.
- 6:39Speaker 1: It must be a positive start for you seeing this
- 6:42Speaker 1: success now and being able to carry that throughout twenty
- 6:44Speaker 1: twenty six.
- 6:46Speaker 4: Yeah, of course I was strong in Thailand last year
- 6:48Speaker 4: with the podium and a great race. Yeah, it used
- 6:52Speaker 4: to be one of my weakest tracks, and last year
- 6:55Speaker 4: I found a bit of a click moment and then yeah,
- 6:57Speaker 4: it's treated me well so far till Sunday.
- 7:00Speaker 3: But yeah, starting off great. We also tested really well.
- 7:03Speaker 4: I was a little bit under the radar, didn't had
- 7:05Speaker 4: a couple of different bike problems, just teething issues with
- 7:09Speaker 4: some stuff that you wouldn't ever dream of. We actually
- 7:12Speaker 4: had some problems in Herreth the new body work on
- 7:14Speaker 4: the Calyx where it joined the bike. It was touching
- 7:17Speaker 4: on like a cable and it's where like because of
- 7:20Speaker 4: the new fitman of the the you know, everybody will
- 7:23Speaker 4: notice the bikes look a little different this year. So
- 7:25Speaker 4: we had some random stuff like that. When I tried
- 7:27Speaker 4: to do some yeah, laptimes in Herreth, so I missed
- 7:30Speaker 4: out on that. So I went flew under the radar
- 7:32Speaker 4: in testing, which is fine, Like We've got a lot
- 7:34Speaker 4: of laps in and I'm not too down about Taileen, Honestly,
- 7:37Speaker 4: I was. My crew obviously took it pretty hard because
- 7:41Speaker 4: we were looking like, you know, contending for the win
- 7:43Speaker 4: one hundred percent. But yeah, I just wanted to bottle
- 7:45Speaker 4: that positivity from the day's pride that we felt and yeah,
- 7:49Speaker 4: move on to Brazil.
- 7:51Speaker 1: What you got also twenty twenty six, I mean last
- 7:53Speaker 1: year you got the win. This year already started with
- 7:55Speaker 1: the poor position.
- 7:56Speaker 2: What is it for you?
- 7:57Speaker 1: I mean, apart from Moto too world champion, what are
- 8:00Speaker 1: the goals for you by.
- 8:01Speaker 3: For the championship? Be in the mix.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Be I don't want to be a name anymore that
- 8:06Speaker 4: can sometimes be there, So I'm not. I'm ready to
- 8:09Speaker 4: just cement myself and I want to do that for
- 8:11Speaker 4: me and have a great year and put myself in
- 8:15Speaker 4: the spotlight. And you know, like I think I can
- 8:18Speaker 4: do it. There's no time to say like I think anymore.
- 8:21Speaker 4: I know I can do it. I've proved I can
- 8:22Speaker 4: do it, and I'm constantly fixing things that I can
- 8:26Speaker 4: improve and deal with.
- 8:27Speaker 3: And learning new tools for different situations.
- 8:30Speaker 4: So I want to put that all into into show
- 8:32Speaker 4: this year and have a great year for me and
- 8:35Speaker 4: my side of the box.
- 8:36Speaker 3: And I think we learned a lot from them.
- 8:39Speaker 4: The guys that beat us last year convincingly, like Marrera
- 8:44Speaker 4: winning the championship, how we went about things and just
- 8:46Speaker 4: analyzing the season and on what it takes in Moto too,
- 8:49Speaker 4: And that's part of my job of analyzing myself and
- 8:52Speaker 4: others and understanding where I need to be better.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Can you share with us maybe something that you've learned,
- 8:57Speaker 1: like there's something there where you've gone. Ah, that's what
- 9:00Speaker 1: I can do differently than the others to get that
- 9:02Speaker 1: extra one percent.
- 9:04Speaker 4: I think in Motor two, with all the bikes being
- 9:07Speaker 4: the same, at one point, you just need to get
- 9:09Speaker 4: on with the job with what you have. And I
- 9:11Speaker 4: think there's a a've you know, tripped up on trying
- 9:16Speaker 4: to find that perfect feeling. I think what separates the
- 9:19Speaker 4: best from the rest is getting on with it when
- 9:22Speaker 4: it's not so perfect and figuring out the strong suits
- 9:24Speaker 4: and I think pushing the limits. It's going to take
- 9:27Speaker 4: more time on the limit for me to understand how
- 9:29Speaker 4: to extract the maximum even when you're not feeling good,
- 9:33Speaker 4: and with so many races and conditions and different tracks
- 9:36Speaker 4: and whatnot, then you don't really have time to find
- 9:38Speaker 4: that sweet spot. And that what makes the riders, some
- 9:42Speaker 4: riders so consistent. So my teammate was very good at
- 9:45Speaker 4: that last year was he was always pretty fast straight
- 9:47Speaker 4: out of the boxes everyone could see. And that's just
- 9:50Speaker 4: a different mentality and a different way of riding. And
- 9:52Speaker 4: I think that's what it takes. You need to be
- 9:54Speaker 4: on the pace at all times and figure out how
- 9:56Speaker 4: to adapt when things don't feel quite right to get consistency.
- 10:01Speaker 1: How important is twenty twenty six for you to progress
- 10:05Speaker 1: ahead and reach your long term goal of Moto GPS
- 10:08Speaker 1: that what you're aiming for for twenty seven, then for.
- 10:11Speaker 4: Sure, I bet it just comes down to results, you know,
- 10:14Speaker 4: like nothing's going to be handed to you for for nothing,
- 10:17Speaker 4: so it's results. Hopefully there's a couple of spaces for
- 10:22Speaker 4: Moto two guys, like you know, we've looked up to
- 10:25Speaker 4: these guys a Motor GP that are best in the
- 10:26Speaker 4: world for years. But I think with new rules coming
- 10:28Speaker 4: in and writers on different parts of their career, I think,
- 10:31Speaker 4: you know, I believe Motor two is the hardest category,
- 10:35Speaker 4: and it's pretty vocal knowledge that some people say it
- 10:40Speaker 4: is the hardest just because we're all on the same
- 10:42Speaker 4: same equipment and stuff like that, and the racing is
- 10:44Speaker 4: so tight. It's become ever since the rule changes and
- 10:47Speaker 4: the tire changes, it's become a tighter time gap than
- 10:50Speaker 4: Moto three and that's just absurd. So it's a tough category,
- 10:56Speaker 4: and yeah, I just want to be there, but yeah,
- 10:58Speaker 4: nothing's going to be gifted to me unless I'm at
- 11:00Speaker 4: the pointy end.
- 11:01Speaker 3: And so this is what our goals are for this year.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Would you say then it's beneficial you having stayed with
- 11:07Speaker 1: the same team now third year there or do you
- 11:10Speaker 1: feel like that it's extra pressure if you know everything
- 11:12Speaker 1: you know the insides and outs. Having that extra pressure
- 11:15Speaker 1: then to try and be consistent for the podiums and
- 11:18Speaker 1: the wins.
- 11:18Speaker 2: This year.
- 11:20Speaker 4: I had more pressure on me last year. Yeah wow,
- 11:24Speaker 4: Yeah second year. I went into last year without proving
- 11:30Speaker 4: a whole lot, let's say so. Of course, my Jogen
- 11:33Speaker 4: from Intact, the team boss, obviously believes in me and
- 11:36Speaker 4: took me from Junior World Championship to Moto two and
- 11:40Speaker 4: for a second year last year. And I think once
- 11:43Speaker 4: I did a breakout year last year, I think that's
- 11:46Speaker 4: when the actually the pressure release was off. Now it's
- 11:49Speaker 4: kind of the level is set on my side of
- 11:51Speaker 4: the box and from what my team expected me. I
- 11:54Speaker 4: think it's set now and that becomes like that. It's
- 11:58Speaker 4: this year we're much more calm because I think, yeah,
- 12:01Speaker 4: we know our level when we get things right, and
- 12:03Speaker 4: that for me is a nicer feeling.
- 12:05Speaker 3: I don't.
- 12:05Speaker 4: I feel more comfortable now to get onto our level,
- 12:09Speaker 4: not pressure to perform. We know what I can do.
- 12:12Speaker 4: I know what I can do. My team's amazing. The
- 12:15Speaker 4: team are absolutely perfect. You know, there's nothing that they
- 12:19Speaker 4: don't do for performance on with all the guys involved
- 12:22Speaker 4: in our projects. So yeah, it's just we have two
- 12:24Speaker 4: strong riders in the team, and I think that's a
- 12:26Speaker 4: real positive, positive thing. There's no like a writer, b
- 12:29Speaker 4: rider and stuff like that. So me and Manu hopefully
- 12:32Speaker 4: will fight together for the championship.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I want to talk a bit more about what's coming up,
- 12:36Speaker 1: because you're headed to Brazil, the first time that motor
- 12:39Speaker 1: GPS racent this track and the first time they've been
- 12:41Speaker 1: to Brazil in ages. But obviously your name is so
- 12:45Speaker 1: intertwined in Brazilian Motorsport Royalty. Yeah, okay, so we need
- 12:50Speaker 1: to clear this up.
- 12:51Speaker 2: You are named after air and Center, right.
- 12:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I am named after ant and Center, and that's
- 12:56Speaker 4: cool going there.
- 12:57Speaker 3: I don't know what it's going to be like.
- 12:58Speaker 4: You know, everyone's going to be there for the Brazilian
- 13:01Speaker 4: rider or riders with Morbidelli and Diago. So I think
- 13:04Speaker 4: the name's cool and I've already it's weird when the
- 13:07Speaker 4: Brazil race got announced. They've got a load of like
- 13:10Speaker 4: social media following and random stuff like likes and stuff
- 13:13Speaker 4: off all these Center fans accounts and thinks.
- 13:15Speaker 3: So it should be cool.
- 13:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I've got a couple of things lined up with
- 13:19Speaker 4: Alpine styles and stuff like that. And I got some
- 13:21Speaker 4: shirts and stuff like that. So yeah, I'm excited to
- 13:24Speaker 4: get there. I've honestly never been anywhere close to that
- 13:26Speaker 4: part of the world. And the track looks super cool,
- 13:30Speaker 4: a new facility for everybody and where and Centam was from,
- 13:33Speaker 4: so it will be cool for me and my dad.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I mean, that's incredible. But I've enjoyed some research on
- 13:39Speaker 1: the track and I'm struggling to find things.
- 13:41Speaker 2: What do you know about this circuit?
- 13:42Speaker 1: Have you done any laps in like a sim or
- 13:44Speaker 1: watched on YouTube or how are you preparing?
- 13:47Speaker 3: I found a YouTube race of it.
- 13:49Speaker 4: They had like a Brazilian Junior Cup on those one
- 13:52Speaker 4: fifty yamahas, and I watched them go around. And the
- 13:55Speaker 4: tracks jet black like it's brand brand brand new. It's
- 13:59Speaker 4: got like term one, super fast, and then it's got
- 14:02Speaker 4: some twisty sections. Not the biggest track in the world,
- 14:05Speaker 4: but Fertility looks cool. It looks like we'll make for
- 14:08Speaker 4: great racing.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just so excited.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Bit what does it feel like for you guys going
- 14:14Speaker 1: to somewhere where it's a blank slate for everyone, right,
- 14:17Speaker 1: do you feel then you can go in and you
- 14:20Speaker 1: don't necessarily have to know the ins and outs. Because
- 14:22Speaker 1: I was talking to Joel and I was like, have
- 14:24Speaker 1: you prepared for this? And he goes, no, I just
- 14:26Speaker 1: get on there, go for my track walk on Thursday
- 14:28Speaker 1: and figure it out. What are you like, do you
- 14:30Speaker 1: have to go into these knowing everything or are you
- 14:33Speaker 1: the same you go, do you track walk and then
- 14:35Speaker 1: you just wait for FP one.
- 14:37Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 14:37Speaker 4: I feel good with the bike at the moment on
- 14:39Speaker 4: a base setting, so I think we can just take
- 14:41Speaker 4: that there and do labs and get on with them
- 14:44Speaker 4: and learn it as fast as possible. I think, yeah,
- 14:46Speaker 4: we're not going to have time to really fine tune
- 14:49Speaker 4: things straight away. I think it's just more time on
- 14:52Speaker 4: track on Friday. That will probably be our plan. But yeah,
- 14:55Speaker 4: luck what Joel said, just walk it and try and
- 14:58Speaker 4: understand what you can. Like obviously got to try and
- 15:01Speaker 4: understand the gearbox and different variations. Honestly, it's it's probably
- 15:05Speaker 4: harder for the technicians than it is the writers, because
- 15:08Speaker 4: you know, you jump on a track and it becomes
- 15:10Speaker 4: natural and you find the fast way around it and
- 15:12Speaker 4: you're feeling and stuff like that.
- 15:14Speaker 3: But they've also got a lot of guesswork coming up.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, I'd rather not do their job and he
- 15:20Speaker 1: seeks to your job of stick to mine. Let's talk
- 15:22Speaker 1: about the spicy subject that's happening here in Australia at
- 15:26Speaker 1: the moment with the Adelaide Street circuit. What's been your
- 15:30Speaker 1: thoughts on that. I'm assuming it's a bittersweet because that
- 15:33Speaker 1: kind of seems to be the feeling from everyone at
- 15:36Speaker 1: the moment.
- 15:37Speaker 4: Yeah, it is a bittersweet, but I think in the
- 15:40Speaker 4: modern era, you've got to separate what's good for the
- 15:43Speaker 4: sport and everything like that and what's good for.
- 15:47Speaker 3: The best lack of a better term, I don't know emotions.
- 15:49Speaker 4: I've got so many like emotions connected to Philipilin, and
- 15:52Speaker 4: it's not just because of success. I used to go
- 15:54Speaker 4: there and watch and it's not an unbiased opinion that
- 15:59Speaker 4: Philipilin is the greatest racetrack, like the scenery, the track layout.
- 16:02Speaker 4: So from a motus points point of view, it's a
- 16:05Speaker 4: little bit upsetting that the whole history behind it. And
- 16:08Speaker 4: I don't think, yeah, we're gonna get back to race
- 16:10Speaker 4: there at world championship level anytime soon, but you know,
- 16:14Speaker 4: the sport needs to evolve and we look at other
- 16:17Speaker 4: sports that are more plumb and big, like say like
- 16:21Speaker 4: an F one type view point of view. And if
- 16:24Speaker 4: Adelaide and furthermore, the whole Motor GP calendar has that environment,
- 16:29Speaker 4: then it's only going to grow the sport so much.
- 16:31Speaker 4: And I think Adelaide can be a massive turnout and
- 16:34Speaker 4: a massive opportunity for trained motorsport.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Like I think you've got to we just got to
- 16:40Speaker 3: remember what it was.
- 16:41Speaker 4: I just just don't feel like it's fair to forget
- 16:43Speaker 4: about phil Valle, you know what I mean, Like it
- 16:45Speaker 4: is the greatest racetrack and I don't think you will
- 16:47Speaker 4: be able to beat it, but it's time to move on.
- 16:50Speaker 4: And if Adelaide brings the skeptical that what we are
- 16:53Speaker 4: being shown that you know it can be with what Yeah,
- 16:56Speaker 4: like the track looks cool, the location looks cool, looks
- 16:59Speaker 4: like a m F effort I need to say, to
- 17:01Speaker 4: put a street circuit into wherever it is and move
- 17:05Speaker 4: things come race weekend. So I think it's a big
- 17:09Speaker 4: effort from and commitment from everybody. And yeah, I would
- 17:12Speaker 4: just say congratulations are all involved, because I think it's
- 17:14Speaker 4: a new chapter and I can't wait to get there.
- 17:17Speaker 2: No, you are right, it's a massive thing.
- 17:18Speaker 1: And to move from the iconic Philip Island, which, like
- 17:21Speaker 1: you said, has so much history, I mean, not really yourself,
- 17:24Speaker 1: but all the Aussie riders to go do something new.
- 17:27Speaker 1: It is taking a risk, But I do see what
- 17:30Speaker 1: you're saying is that risk is.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Sometimes needed in a sport to help it grow.
- 17:35Speaker 1: With regards to the circuit itself though, I mean, a
- 17:38Speaker 1: street circuit is something that you're excited to write just
- 17:41Speaker 1: because it's something completely different.
- 17:44Speaker 4: Yeah, the track map layout thing that was shown down
- 17:47Speaker 4: when Jack was speaking is you know, it just doesn't
- 17:50Speaker 4: look like anything close to what we normally write on,
- 17:53Speaker 4: you know, different kind of straits and type looks like
- 17:57Speaker 4: tight chikanes like I'm not sure. I've only seen the
- 17:59Speaker 4: track map, but I don't know the scale of all
- 18:00Speaker 4: the straits, Like some of that back section just looks
- 18:03Speaker 4: absolutely flat out like it could be super cool. I
- 18:06Speaker 4: hope it's great. Yeah, I just hope it turns out well.
- 18:09Speaker 4: And yeah, let's let's hope all that the safety and
- 18:12Speaker 4: stuff like that transitions well. And honestly, if it goes
- 18:17Speaker 4: ahead and being based in a city creates so much traction,
- 18:20Speaker 4: everybody involved in it it opens a chapter for the sport.
- 18:22Speaker 4: Then it wouldn't surprise me if more cities up to
- 18:25Speaker 4: build street circuits. If it's shown.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Possible exactly, it could be the new year of prodeg GP.
- 18:31Speaker 1: So we will just have to wait and see on that.
- 18:33Speaker 1: But I just want to touch on you mentioned something
- 18:35Speaker 1: special coming for Brazil your final home grownd Prix at
- 18:39Speaker 1: Philip Island.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Are you going to do something special as well there?
- 18:43Speaker 4: Yeah, of course, I I had special things at both.
- 18:46Speaker 4: I know I'd rather win in Brazil, so yeah, there'll be.
- 18:52Speaker 4: I've yeah, teed up a couple of things for Brazil
- 18:54Speaker 4: to personalize it a little bit, and I think it's cool.
- 18:56Speaker 4: My name's super rare and stuff like that, and yeah,
- 19:00Speaker 4: I hope it brings us success.
- 19:01Speaker 1: And then when you back to racing, back to twenty
- 19:04Speaker 1: thirty six, sorry because I'm already jumping ahead of the
- 19:06Speaker 1: year here, how are you feeling going back to the
- 19:08Speaker 1: Europe once you get those flyaways done, back to those
- 19:10Speaker 1: European races, that the circuits that you know through and throughout,
- 19:14Speaker 1: is that somewhere where you think, then we'll really start
- 19:16Speaker 1: to see that progression. Hopefully see you finding for all
- 19:18Speaker 1: those Prodiums more often.
- 19:20Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll be there. Yeah, I get along with all
- 19:23Speaker 4: the tracks in Europe quite well. You've been racing them
- 19:25Speaker 4: for a couple of years, and yeah we were strong
- 19:27Speaker 4: in the European races last year. But I need to
- 19:30Speaker 4: say the level of Moto two has gone up this
- 19:32Speaker 4: year one hundred percent. There is some proper talent out
- 19:36Speaker 4: there and even the rookies jumping up, they're fast, you know,
- 19:39Speaker 4: asked by team intactors, a load of riders, a couple
- 19:42Speaker 4: of seat swaps and stuff like that in Motor two,
- 19:45Speaker 4: riders on different bikes and a now that weren't faster
- 19:47Speaker 4: and now fast. So I just from my experience and
- 19:50Speaker 4: obviously been racing the last two years, I can confidently
- 19:53Speaker 4: say that this will be the hardest year of Moto two. Yeah,
- 19:56Speaker 4: everybody's flying, and when we all get back to Europe,
- 19:59Speaker 4: the level super high run so familiar, so it'll be tough,
- 20:03Speaker 4: but we're are in there.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Awesome will sooner.
- 20:06Speaker 1: We can't wait to see out on track next weekend
- 20:08Speaker 1: the Brazilian Grand Prix and hopefully that sad a name
- 20:11Speaker 1: lives up to its legacy there. But thank you so
- 20:14Speaker 1: much for taking the time to chat with us here
- 20:16Speaker 1: on Fox Sport, and we'll see you in October at
