- 0:17Speaker 1: Casey Kelderman in the studio with me here. We're going
- 0:19Speaker 1: to talk about a fun thing coming up. Pepper Entertainment
- 0:22Speaker 1: has this on Thursday. It's called The Art of Music.
- 0:25Speaker 1: First of all, how you doing, man?
- 0:26Speaker 2: John, I'm doing great. It's always good to talk.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Good to talk. And now it's Casey with Pepper Entertainment.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:32Speaker 1: We've talked with you for some other things, but this
- 0:35Speaker 1: is kind of a new venture for you. How long
- 0:36Speaker 1: you been there?
- 0:37Speaker 2: Always moving and shaking. I'm going into two months now,
- 0:41Speaker 2: so I'm the fresh-faced Pepper Entertainments.
- 0:43Speaker 1: It looks good on you, man. I love this. Now
- 0:45Speaker 1: let's talk about the Art of Music. This was a
- 0:47Speaker 1: brand new thing last year. We stopped and checked it out.
- 0:49Speaker 1: It's really cool. But for people who have no idea
- 0:51Speaker 1: what the heck we're talking about, how do you describe
- 0:53Speaker 1: what the Art of Music is?
- 0:55Speaker 2: Yeah, so last year's the Art of Music, they featured
- 0:58Speaker 2: a live painter at the event. So every year we
- 1:00Speaker 2: try to change it up for something new and different.
- 1:02Speaker 2: So this year, at the Art of Music, we have
- 1:06Speaker 2: over 20... over 10 local artists that put together over
- 1:09Speaker 2: 20 original pieces just for this and all within the
- 1:14Speaker 2: prompt of concert posters reimagined. So obviously in the music space,
- 1:19Speaker 2: music and concert posters are such a big thing.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Because like that's, I mean, for me, that's how I
- 1:27Speaker 2: found out about a ton of concerts that I've gone
- 1:28Speaker 2: to in the past. And so, yeah, we gave the
- 1:31Speaker 2: prompt to these artists of, hey, find a concert that's,
- 1:35Speaker 2: One of ours that we've done, something you want to
- 1:36Speaker 2: see in Sioux Falls or something coming up, and take
- 1:39Speaker 2: your own spin on it. See what you can come
- 1:42Speaker 2: up with. And we had over 20 original pieces come
- 1:44Speaker 2: out of it, which is super cool.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I'm excited. Now, it's coming up this Thursday. Where will
- 1:49Speaker 1: the event be held on Thursday?
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's at Shriver Square Atrium, which is downtown
- 1:54Speaker 2: Sioux Falls. So if you know where the Foti restaurant is,
- 1:56Speaker 2: just come on through those double doors, and you'll find
- 1:59Speaker 2: us right inside there.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Phillips Avenue. And is that 12th and Phillips? It's right,
- 2:03Speaker 1: Kitty Corner from Minerva. So whatever that corner is. And
- 2:07Speaker 1: it's like, is it Kitty Corner or Catty Corner? It's
- 2:09Speaker 1: across the street from Minerva's. And you'll go inside. And
- 2:14Speaker 1: is it a free event or is there a fee
- 2:15Speaker 1: to get in?
- 2:16Speaker 2: All free. So if you're just hanging out downtown this
- 2:18Speaker 2: Thursday and you want to pop in for an hour
- 2:21Speaker 2: and look at some local art and check out some
- 2:23Speaker 2: of the other The other cool things that we have
- 2:25Speaker 2: going on, that's the place to be.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I encourage you to do that. Get out and check
- 2:29Speaker 1: it out. And again, Pepper Entertainment brings a wonderful live
- 2:32Speaker 1: entertainment to the community all the time. So it's cool
- 2:35Speaker 1: that you're taking live entertainment and you're taking the arts
- 2:38Speaker 1: and you're kind of mixing those together for this event.
- 2:41Speaker 1: And it's an opportunity for people to come out and
- 2:43Speaker 1: be a part of the Pepper Entertainment Champion Foundation. And
- 2:47Speaker 1: that is a pretty cool thing that you guys do.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's relatively new too. It started in 2022.
- 2:51Speaker 2: And so every.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Every concert that we promote in Sioux Falls, a dollar
- 2:57Speaker 2: from every ticket sold there goes into the foundation. The
- 3:00Speaker 2: foundation helps benefit local artists, especially in our Sioux Falls
- 3:04Speaker 2: school district. We help provide guitar lessons there. So over
- 3:09Speaker 2: 800 students. I had to look this number up before this.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Over 800 students have taken classes there. uh, within the
- 3:17Speaker 2: guitar lessons that they provide at the school, Sioux Falls
- 3:19Speaker 2: school district because of it.
- 3:20Speaker 1: So what a cool thing. And think about, uh, how
- 3:23Speaker 1: amazing that is for 800 students. And they're not all
- 3:25Speaker 1: going to pursue that. They're not going to follow that forever,
- 3:28Speaker 1: but even if a tiny fraction of them do, you know, uh, and,
- 3:31Speaker 1: and they, you know, make their way to a stage
- 3:33Speaker 1: somewhere someday because of this foundation set up by pepper entertainment.
- 3:38Speaker 1: How cool is that?
- 3:38Speaker 2: Yeah. Just an opportunity to learn something so cool, like
- 3:41Speaker 2: playing guitar.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I love it. I think that's fantastic. So, If somebody
- 3:45Speaker 1: listening would like to be a part of this, again,
- 3:46Speaker 1: the art of music, let's give them the when and
- 3:49Speaker 1: the where and all of that again. When is this
- 3:51Speaker 1: and where is this? Yeah.
- 3:52Speaker 2: So this Thursday, September 17th, downtown Sioux Falls at Shriver
- 3:56Speaker 2: Square Atrium from 4 to 7 p.m. Again, it's free.
- 4:00Speaker 2: So if you want to come in for 10 minutes,
- 4:02Speaker 2: check it out and go grab some food at Faux
- 4:04Speaker 2: Tie and then pop back out for another 10 minutes.
- 4:07Speaker 2: That's what we're hoping. And we're going to have all
- 4:09Speaker 2: this artwork will be for sale for the Champion Foundation
- 4:12Speaker 2: as well. And we will have concert posters, drum heads,
- 4:18Speaker 2: guitars signed from some of our previous shows. So if
- 4:22Speaker 2: you want kind of a higher end thing to pick
- 4:25Speaker 2: up at the show, you can pick up some autographed
- 4:27Speaker 2: memorabilia there too.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Very cool. So bring a wallet is what you're saying.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Bring a wallet and maybe a giant check like in
- 4:33Speaker 2: Happy Home.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Drag one of those in with me. Casey said I
- 4:37Speaker 1: could cash this here.
- 4:39Speaker 2: All right.
- 4:39Speaker 1: It's called The Art of Music. It is this Thursday.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I'm going to throw all the information on our Facebook
- 4:43Speaker 1: page to make it easy to find. So if you're
- 4:45Speaker 1: struggling to remember any of this, just go to check
- 4:47Speaker 1: it out. Facebook.com slash Sunny Radio and Facebook.com slash Sioux
