- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Hey my friend, welcome to this episode of the Daily Writer Podcast.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Today is the second entry in our mini-series on dealing with rejection.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: You know what's happened to all of us?
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: You had your heart set on an opportunity and it falls through.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's a writing job, a podcast guest appearance, some type of collaboration opportunity, or something else that you hoped was going to happen, but now it's not.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Well, as the 1960s group The Monkeys famously sang, tomorrow's gonna be another day.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: And if you don't know what I'm talking about, I encourage you to go Google the monkeys or look them up on YouTube or on Spotify.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Their music was amazing.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: They were so much fun, and they were one of the best groups of the 1960s.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Yes, the Beatles were awesome, of course, as well, and so many other groups as well, but there just was something really, really fun about the monkeys.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Okay, thanks for indulging my little side road there.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: So back to the point.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Yes, rejection can be disappointing, but you've got the chance today to connect with almost anybody on the planet directly.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: And there's no single person out there who holds the key to all of your success.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: Lots of people do.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: So don't just rely on that one single person who had that opportunity for you, but for one reason or another, it fell through.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Today, you don't have to wait for opportunity to come knocking on your door.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Instead, take the initiative and make those opportunities happen.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Opportunities are literally all around you every single day, everywhere that you look.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: So the question is, how do you find those opportunities?
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Well, it's actually the complete opposite of what most people do.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Most people go out there and they start knocking on everybody else's door and start asking people to do things for them, but you have to do the exact opposite.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: So what you do is you stop thinking about yourself and instead you start thinking about other people.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Start thinking about somebody in your life that you can help or somebody that you can serve somebody else.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: Start thinking about people in your network that you can connect together.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: And when you stop thinking about yourself all the time and you start thinking about other people as much as you possibly can, really interesting things happen.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: When you take the focus off yourself and what you need and what you desire and start focusing on what other people need and what they desire, really, really cool and weird and interesting things begin to happen in your life.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: This is the very best way to take the focus off of your disappointments and rejection and your heartache today and start investing in tomorrow so you can build something really, really phenomenal in your life, in your writing, and in your business.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: So here's today's question.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: What's the way that you can give or invest in somebody starting today?
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: I want to take a moment to let you know about our daily writer membership community.
