- 1:30Speaker 2: as we'll gather more reaction from this last Saturday where
- 1:33Speaker 2: the Craken fell to the Utah Mammoth, and we'll hear
- 1:36Speaker 2: more comments after a Sunday practice with Cracking Captain Jordan
- 1:40Speaker 2: every a rare practice in the middle of seventeen games
- 1:44Speaker 2: going down this month. Jordan Everley's comments coming up in
- 1:47Speaker 2: just a bit. Before we get to all of that,
- 1:50Speaker 2: here's how the crack and maneuver through the road trip
- 1:52Speaker 2: finale against the Utah Mammoth, showing once again a strong
- 1:56Speaker 2: start was possible and also what would it take to
- 2:00Speaker 2: dig out of a second period.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Hole cock go left circle.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Matt Emaneers once again throws it on goal.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Turn the side in front of the rebound. Beverly sczes
- 2:12Speaker 3: the first shot on goal. The Malka thought he had it,
- 2:15Speaker 3: Seattle kept it loose.
- 2:16Speaker 4: The captain puts the craken on the board first eighteen
- 2:20Speaker 4: fifty one to go.
- 2:21Speaker 3: In the opening period.
- 2:23Speaker 5: What's u Eperdy parked out front as Cockle comes behind
- 2:26Speaker 5: the net, finds him on his forehand, puts it right
- 2:29Speaker 5: under the bar in Vimelka and Jordan Nibery gets his
- 2:32Speaker 5: seventh first goal of the game. And that's exactly what
- 2:36Speaker 5: you're looking for. Take that that crowd out of it.
- 2:39Speaker 5: One nothing cracking.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Done left circle shot right on turn aside Scoos, Matt
- 2:46Speaker 4: Evaniers Jordan Everly both crashing the goal.
- 2:50Speaker 3: One of them will get it.
- 2:51Speaker 6: The cracking ball back to within one, three two, four
- 2:55Speaker 6: forty nine left in the second well.
- 2:57Speaker 5: It starts with a beautiful pass by Berkeley, cat and
- 3:00Speaker 5: over on the far wall. Back if it's done on
- 3:02Speaker 5: the point. Vince Dunn gets so many of his systs
- 3:05Speaker 5: off of shots, he puts this one hard on Vimelka.
- 3:07Speaker 5: Vimeilka struggles with the rebound. Maddy Bineers finds it three
- 3:11Speaker 5: two utah.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Now Freddie Gadro skates it out to center.
- 3:14Speaker 4: Vandler Stevenson finds a line behind the Nettos. Stevenson behind
- 3:20Speaker 4: the defense, swalks over the blue line and slides one
- 3:24Speaker 4: five hole on Vamelka from down three to one to
- 3:28Speaker 4: tie three three two seventeen left here in the second.
- 3:32Speaker 5: Well Ellie tobahen with a great pass to Chandler Stephenson
- 3:35Speaker 5: as they crossed the blue line. There he draws attention
- 3:38Speaker 5: to him, puts it over to Chandler Stephenson sends him
- 3:40Speaker 5: in all alone on Vimeilka and Chandler. Stevenson goes five hole.
- 3:44Speaker 3: This game's tied.
- 3:45Speaker 6: It's Ray Schmidt near side shot blocked rights to Keller,
- 3:48Speaker 6: left circle, Keller to.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Crows down the slide.
- 3:51Speaker 6: He scores, Cracking lose the face off loss of Krause
- 4:07Speaker 6: Fitis is up the play. They spid a three point
- 4:10Speaker 6: night check that a four point night.
- 4:14Speaker 3: It's now tough way to end that one.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Where a crack And fell six three to the Utah
- 4:20Speaker 2: Mammoth and the game tied heading into the final ten
- 4:22Speaker 2: minutes of play of regulation, the Mammoth pulling away with
- 4:26Speaker 2: three unanswered goals and special teams playing a big role
- 4:30Speaker 2: in this one. The crack And Power play coming up
- 4:33Speaker 2: zero for three and also squandering a five on three
- 4:36Speaker 2: two man advantage after Utah scored shorthanded in period one.
- 4:42Speaker 2: After practice on Sunday, Crack and captain Jordan Beverley met
- 4:45Speaker 2: with the media while organizing his thoughts coming home from Utah.
- 4:49Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, I think, in my opinion, obviously left
- 4:51Speaker 7: some points on the table. In the road trip, you know,
- 4:54Speaker 7: Carolina lost to comeback, and then the Jersey game, I
- 4:57Speaker 7: thought we had and you know we're we you know,
- 5:00Speaker 7: didn't play our best hockey and you know we salvage
- 5:02Speaker 7: the point. But the Boston game, I thought we played
- 5:04Speaker 7: well sometimes to come away with losses. And then last
- 5:07Speaker 7: night obviously again you know, we give one up tied
- 5:10Speaker 7: with what or what was its five six minutes left.
- 5:13Speaker 7: So you know, I think we left some points on
- 5:14Speaker 7: the table. That's my opinion. If you look at the standings,
- 5:18Speaker 7: you can't really afford to do that. You just draw, right.
- 5:20Speaker 7: So you know, we got an important homestand that we
- 5:24Speaker 7: need to you know, really key in execute on and
- 5:26Speaker 7: starts tomorrow.
- 5:27Speaker 8: Mentally.
- 5:28Speaker 2: What's the right kind of message for this room right now?
- 5:30Speaker 7: I think it's just recharge. I mean, you know, obviously
- 5:34Speaker 7: you understand, you know, the past five and leaving, Like
- 5:37Speaker 7: I said, leaving points out there. But at the end
- 5:39Speaker 7: of the day, we're in the mix and we've that's
- 5:42Speaker 7: where you want to be. We've created an opportunity for
- 5:45Speaker 7: ourselves to you know, have a chance to push and
- 5:48Speaker 7: not just stick with the pack, to try and pull away.
- 5:50Speaker 7: So that's exciting for me. That's the hockey you want
- 5:54Speaker 7: to play all the way till the end. Yeah, I
- 5:55Speaker 7: think that's what makes.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Us game fun.
- 5:57Speaker 8: There's been kind of some high highs and some low
- 5:59Speaker 8: lows in the last they're so I mean, what do
- 6:01Speaker 8: you kind of make of that with this with this team,
- 6:03Speaker 8: kind of the streakiness and how do you make sure
- 6:06Speaker 8: that you know this road trip doesn't balloon. I guess
- 6:08Speaker 8: it is something something worse.
- 6:10Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean they've been higher highs and higher lows
- 6:13Speaker 7: than generally you want. At the end of the day,
- 6:16Speaker 7: I think there's every team you go through that's just
- 6:20Speaker 7: the reality of an eighty to two game schedule. There's
- 6:24Speaker 7: adversity at some point. I don't know if I'd ever
- 6:26Speaker 7: want a year where you didn't have adversity. I mean,
- 6:28Speaker 7: you get to the playoffs and you're going to reach
- 6:29Speaker 7: it at some point, so you know, I think regardlessly.
- 6:35Speaker 7: For me, it's we've overcome some pretty big lows, which
- 6:38Speaker 7: is impressive, and we fought our way back and got
- 6:41Speaker 7: ourselves in their position, like I said, where we're fighting for,
- 6:44Speaker 7: you know, try and get you top of the division.
- 6:46Speaker 7: So that's that's what it comes down to for me.
- 6:48Speaker 7: It doesn't matter how you get there. If anything, you know,
- 6:51Speaker 7: this way, I've seen that we've you know, been able
- 6:54Speaker 7: to streak and put together wins, and you know that's
- 6:57Speaker 7: a side of a really good hockey team. So I
- 6:59Speaker 7: think the biggest thing is it every game third Pier,
- 7:01Speaker 7: we're tighter in the lead or you know, going into it,
- 7:04Speaker 7: and we're finding ourselves in a lot of one goal
- 7:06Speaker 7: games and we're fairly comfortable in those situations.
- 7:10Speaker 9: Jordan, you just touched on it. You guys have found
- 7:11Speaker 9: yourself in that situation right the third so often I
- 7:15Speaker 9: was there something missing I guess on some of those
- 7:17Speaker 9: tight games on the road trip or is it just
- 7:19Speaker 9: pay that sometimes how it could be crumbles in a way.
- 7:21Speaker 7: No, I fully believe that you kind of control your destiny.
- 7:25Speaker 7: It comes down to you know, tie games, It comes
- 7:27Speaker 7: down to details, whether it's a stick or getting your
- 7:31Speaker 7: man or closing quick or breaking the bucket, whatever it
- 7:34Speaker 7: may be, a little details as part of the game's
- 7:35Speaker 7: face offs that you know, really you look at it,
- 7:39Speaker 7: those are the mistakes. One little mistake and it ends
- 7:41Speaker 7: up in the back of your net. So you have
- 7:42Speaker 7: to try and be as completely dialed as you can it.
- 7:45Speaker 7: I mean, it's hard, it's Hockey's a game of mistakes.
- 7:47Speaker 7: It's the reality of it. But you know, it's the
- 7:50Speaker 7: team that can, you know, focus and give up the
- 7:53Speaker 7: least amount and be as details as possible and bounces
- 7:55Speaker 7: the are gonna go here and there. You can deal
- 7:56Speaker 7: with that, and that's the game for me in my opinion.
- 7:58Speaker 7: In Boston, we made a few mistakes. They ended up
- 8:00Speaker 7: in the back for a net, but we won't be
- 8:02Speaker 7: able to come back. But we kept pushing, So I mean,
- 8:04Speaker 7: if you can control that, you're gonna have a more
- 8:06Speaker 7: chance to win the not.
- 8:07Speaker 10: I know, the power play has obviously been great for
- 8:10Speaker 10: a while. It looks like you guys have really found
- 8:12Speaker 10: a way to capitalize often those face offs. Has that
- 8:14Speaker 10: been either a point of emphasis or is it just
- 8:16Speaker 10: you guys being able to be cleanly execute from the
- 8:18Speaker 10: drum well.
- 8:18Speaker 7: I think the first part of that is winning the
- 8:20Speaker 7: face off, but obviously, yeah, you want to try and
- 8:22Speaker 7: create right off the bat. Generally teams are to position
- 8:24Speaker 7: off face offs. But I mean, for the power play
- 8:26Speaker 7: has been great for sure, no question. It's one of
- 8:28Speaker 7: us games and you know, it's been moving. I think
- 8:31Speaker 7: the last couple of games obviously giving up for shorties.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Which has been disappointing.
- 8:36Speaker 7: But we have to find a way to you know,
- 8:38Speaker 7: create momentum for our group, regardless of we scored or not,
- 8:41Speaker 7: just creative momentum.
- 8:43Speaker 8: When you guys get veteran players back in the lineup,
- 8:46Speaker 8: always that's a that's a positive. But is there a
- 8:48Speaker 8: little bit of having to find the kind of story
- 8:50Speaker 8: again sometimes when you get guys back in.
- 8:54Speaker 7: No, not necessarily, I think, you know, I think you know,
- 8:59Speaker 7: you guys get hurt and it always takes two or
- 9:01Speaker 7: three games to try and find your legs and you know,
- 9:04Speaker 7: get up to speed. I think, you know, for us,
- 9:06Speaker 7: we have a pretty good depth in our in our group,
- 9:09Speaker 7: I'm pretty comfortable with all four lines and sixty and
- 9:12Speaker 7: having everyone out there and you know, everyone contributing. That's
- 9:16Speaker 7: how we've had success. So you know, I think as
- 9:20Speaker 7: we've gotten healthier, we've we've had obviously a lot of
- 9:22Speaker 7: injuries and injuries with key guys, and you know, as
- 9:25Speaker 7: those guys come back in and they start contributing, and uh,
- 9:29Speaker 7: you know we're going to continue.
- 9:30Speaker 3: To keep holding.
- 9:30Speaker 7: I just see this shift pieces.
- 9:32Speaker 2: But Jordan, good starts can come in different forms. We're
- 9:35Speaker 2: just feel the other day at Utah measure up and
- 9:37Speaker 2: what you guys want to get after here for the
- 9:38Speaker 2: two pm based off and there.
- 9:39Speaker 7: Yeah, it starts have kind of been the last few.
- 9:41Speaker 7: You know, we we haven't had the greatest starts to
- 9:43Speaker 7: let you know. Obviously last game we did get up
- 9:45Speaker 7: to good starting, not just to the goal, but we
- 9:46Speaker 7: kept moving after that even when they score the shorthanded
- 9:48Speaker 7: when we kept going. But yeah, it starts are always important,
- 9:52Speaker 7: you know, I think I don't know.
- 9:53Speaker 11: What the statu is.
- 9:54Speaker 7: The first goal, we generally have a big success in
- 9:56Speaker 7: winning the game. But in the last game, you obviously
- 9:59Speaker 7: get that they've made a big push. I was probably
- 10:01Speaker 7: the group we fought back and then they kept going
- 10:04Speaker 7: so we got a final. Every game has its different
- 10:07Speaker 7: you know, momentum shifts and different way to play it
- 10:09Speaker 7: and it's just a matter of finding a way to win.
- 10:11Speaker 2: All right, been a while, but the mayor of Maple
- 10:14Speaker 2: Valley pleasure to have him join us here. Very courteous
- 10:17Speaker 2: to have him join us here because he's got places
- 10:19Speaker 2: to go, people to see.
- 10:20Speaker 3: Also, by the way, yes, he's got the TV.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Play by play call coming up here for today on
- 10:26Speaker 2: the Crack and Hockey Network. Side Ian Forness joining us now,
- 10:29Speaker 2: head of the Kraken and the Pittsburgh Penguins, Mayor, great
- 10:33Speaker 2: to have you appreciate this. As usual, I first have
- 10:36Speaker 2: to begin this about a week from now. We've got
- 10:39Speaker 2: quite the Seattle Sports doubleheader going on here on Sunday
- 10:43Speaker 2: coming up, don't we.
- 10:44Speaker 11: Yeah, and nice that the NHL honored the request by
- 10:48Speaker 11: the Kraken to move the game time, so you know,
- 10:51Speaker 11: next Sunday, six days from now, we'll have have a
- 10:54Speaker 11: noon game instead of a one o'clock game. So that'll
- 10:57Speaker 11: give everybody plenty of time. Games over about and get
- 11:01Speaker 11: your home by three thirty by ready for kickoff. So
- 11:03Speaker 11: where we go.
- 11:04Speaker 2: And then if you do the doubleheader, then I have
- 11:06Speaker 2: no idea how you're going to be even a live
- 11:08Speaker 2: by about ten pm that night.
- 11:11Speaker 11: I'd be crazy.
- 11:11Speaker 3: That shall be a Crey study.
- 11:13Speaker 11: If you can do that, good for you. But yeah,
- 11:15Speaker 11: I probably a lot of people doing one or the
- 11:18Speaker 11: other and watching the other one on TV.
- 11:20Speaker 2: So yeah, fun I tried that with the Sounders and
- 11:24Speaker 2: the Mariners. But this is back in twenty sixteen when
- 11:27Speaker 2: I was in my mid thirties, and now at the
- 11:30Speaker 2: stage of life, it's like never again.
- 11:32Speaker 3: One's one's good enough. One's good enough for me?
- 11:37Speaker 2: Uh, one three and one road trip mayor to me
- 11:40Speaker 2: this home stand will be critical.
- 11:42Speaker 3: But to you, how critical?
- 11:45Speaker 11: Well, I think, you know, I think we see how
- 11:47Speaker 11: valuable points are, so I think it's really I mean,
- 11:50Speaker 11: it's very critical. It's very important, you know, especially heading
- 11:55Speaker 11: into the Olympic break you know, I mean you've built
- 11:58Speaker 11: up a cushion again, but now that Christian went away,
- 12:01Speaker 11: and you know, so you get three, you know, when
- 12:04Speaker 11: you get three points out of a possible ten on
- 12:05Speaker 11: that road trip, and that's just not good enough. You know,
- 12:08Speaker 11: opportunity lost on Saturday. I think in Utah for sure
- 12:12Speaker 11: that was there was a point there to be taken, uh,
- 12:15Speaker 11: and it just didn't happen for whatever reason whatever breakdowns.
- 12:20Speaker 11: But however, we want to get into it. But yeah,
- 12:22Speaker 11: I think it's I think, Mike, I think it's really important.
- 12:24Speaker 11: I think it's very important. You just gotta you gotta
- 12:26Speaker 11: stacked points. You know. We talked about that on the
- 12:29Speaker 11: Crack and Hockey Nowler called the time just stacking points.
- 12:31Speaker 11: And you know when you let all those points go
- 12:34Speaker 11: to waste on the road trip, you know, and you know,
- 12:37Speaker 11: there was a couple of disappointing ones, not just the
- 12:40Speaker 11: Utah game, but some other ones as well. So yeah,
- 12:42Speaker 11: when you came home, you got to take care of
- 12:44Speaker 11: some business and you got to you got to get
- 12:45Speaker 11: right and you got to get right quick.
- 12:47Speaker 2: And the frustrating part of this is I go back
- 12:50Speaker 2: and think of the Boston game. I was sitting up
- 12:52Speaker 2: above the corner and it it it's it's it's it's
- 12:57Speaker 2: a gut punch when you go down to nothing. But
- 12:59Speaker 2: the matter of fact, as they came right back on
- 13:01Speaker 2: a power play goal. Ultimately I was shocked. It wasn't
- 13:04Speaker 2: too too by the end of the first period. That's
- 13:06Speaker 2: how well the crack hand played. And apparently the timeout
- 13:09Speaker 2: from Laine Lambert worked and it worked like a charm.
- 13:14Speaker 2: And then I go back and think of the frustrations
- 13:16Speaker 2: that you go through. Period three was frustrating enough, but
- 13:20Speaker 2: I think to me as equal, if not more frustrating,
- 13:23Speaker 2: was period one, where you go up in a little
- 13:29Speaker 2: over a minute plus into the hockey game, and then
- 13:33Speaker 2: you then come right back with a great chance to
- 13:35Speaker 2: go up to nothing on the power play, and then
- 13:38Speaker 2: give up a shorthanded goal on an out numbered attack
- 13:41Speaker 2: like a hot knife through butter, and then you get
- 13:44Speaker 2: a five on three and no dice that to me
- 13:48Speaker 2: to find the tone for the rest.
- 13:50Speaker 3: Of the day.
- 13:51Speaker 11: Yeah, I think that was the way to the opportunity
- 13:53Speaker 11: that happened. And when that did happen that you know,
- 13:56Speaker 11: I mean still came back and had a chance to
- 13:58Speaker 11: get a point later, but I think that was that
- 14:00Speaker 11: was a critical part of the game. The five on
- 14:03Speaker 11: three after giving up a shorty was really frustrating. And
- 14:07Speaker 11: just the power you know, it's hard to see anything
- 14:09Speaker 11: negative about the power play has been so good, you know,
- 14:11Speaker 11: I mean before Saturday was working at forty percent of
- 14:14Speaker 11: the month of January, is the third best in the
- 14:16Speaker 11: league in the month, and the power play for the
- 14:18Speaker 11: most part has been fine. But yeah, they give up
- 14:22Speaker 11: the shorty, just back and on top of that, you know,
- 14:28Speaker 11: you know what happened at the end of the game
- 14:29Speaker 11: on Saturday too, you know, a couple of breakdowns. I
- 14:32Speaker 11: think one was an unlucky bounce off official, but you
- 14:34Speaker 11: still can't leave the guy alone in front, you knowly
- 14:37Speaker 11: two shots from the slots that were goals. So a
- 14:40Speaker 11: little frustrating in that regard. But I you know, I
- 14:42Speaker 11: think all on all, like the one thing that I
- 14:44Speaker 11: kind of came away with from the road trip is,
- 14:46Speaker 11: you know, Seattle played with everybody and never felt including
- 14:52Speaker 11: the Boston game, which was some of the numbers will
- 14:55Speaker 11: tell maybe a different story, but I never watched a
- 14:57Speaker 11: game hw they're just completely overwhelmed, and bost would have
- 15:00Speaker 11: been that game they were. That was a that was
- 15:02Speaker 11: a schedule loss, second half of the back to back,
- 15:05Speaker 11: you know, by the way we're gonna uh you know
- 15:08Speaker 11: Hunter the jar that night, you know, it was that
- 15:10Speaker 11: was a tough one.
- 15:11Speaker 2: The building was full ninety minutes before face off.
- 15:14Speaker 3: It was unbelievable.
- 15:16Speaker 11: Yeah, that was crazy. So I think, you know, I
- 15:18Speaker 11: just I felt like they played well most of the time.
- 15:22Speaker 11: It's just one of the things that happens with this team.
- 15:24Speaker 11: It just feels like if they make a mistake, it's
- 15:25Speaker 11: in the back of their net. It doesn't matter when, where,
- 15:27Speaker 11: how or why they make a mistake. It's in the
- 15:29Speaker 11: back of their net, you know. And they probably needed
- 15:32Speaker 11: a savor too that they didn't get. They didn't get
- 15:34Speaker 11: for a while, and you know, a lot of those
- 15:35Speaker 11: stays for a long time. And I don't think they
- 15:37Speaker 11: got the staves they wanted for a couple of those games.
- 15:40Speaker 11: But overall, Mike, I just the points weren't there. But
- 15:44Speaker 11: I think that there were some good signs. And then
- 15:47Speaker 11: you know the other thing that changed, the fourth planets
- 15:49Speaker 11: shaken up and it's not what it used to be,
- 15:52Speaker 11: and you know, the Drome moves down and Mallatson set
- 15:55Speaker 11: back down to Coachella, and you know, I mean, they
- 15:58Speaker 11: they're they're playing ross Roulette and I think, you know,
- 16:01Speaker 11: we had Chris Taylor on intermission with us one of
- 16:04Speaker 11: the games and they all kind of run together in
- 16:06Speaker 11: my apologies, but you know, he said the should be
- 16:09Speaker 11: some good internal competition. Yeah, maybe there will be. You know,
- 16:12Speaker 11: I mean, Fleury came out, Ryker went in after Riker
- 16:15Speaker 11: had come out and all that. So there's we see
- 16:18Speaker 11: that on the backside. See if anything happens on the
- 16:20Speaker 11: front end too.
- 16:21Speaker 2: I'll get to Jacob Malanson in just a bit. But
- 16:24Speaker 2: Lane Lambert going back to after the Utah game on Saturday,
- 16:28Speaker 2: was straightforward and blunt with referencing two mistakes the Krack
- 16:31Speaker 2: and made which had Utah break a three to three
- 16:34Speaker 2: tie and then pull away in period three. One was
- 16:37Speaker 2: off the failed clearing contempt and the other was blown
- 16:40Speaker 2: coverage man, a man off a face off when leading
- 16:42Speaker 2: the last and Crass's goal to make a five to three.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Following up on that, here is Lane Lambert with the
- 16:48Speaker 2: media after practice on Sunday. We're talking there shit about
- 16:51Speaker 2: the third period in Utah, A few details onto.
- 16:53Speaker 3: A couple of breakdowns, you know, moving forward.
- 16:56Speaker 2: How much do you look at that from like a
- 16:58Speaker 2: mental thing versus.
- 17:01Speaker 12: Well, it's hard to you know, I guess it's hard
- 17:04Speaker 12: to decide how much is mental how much is physical?
- 17:10Speaker 12: To me, you know, if you look at a third period,
- 17:13Speaker 12: if you average maybe four or five shifts a guy,
- 17:18Speaker 12: it's pretty hard for me to accept that you can't
- 17:21Speaker 12: stay mentally focused for four or five shifts before you
- 17:23Speaker 12: get on the plane and go home after a nine
- 17:25Speaker 12: day road trip.
- 17:27Speaker 3: So I get it.
- 17:28Speaker 12: It's it is a grind, but that's where our team
- 17:32Speaker 12: and our group has to get over that hump, and
- 17:36Speaker 12: that's part of playing winning hockey.
- 17:38Speaker 2: And this tells me more, I think than anything about
- 17:41Speaker 2: who could play key minutes and ultimately who could be
- 17:45Speaker 2: staying in the lineup.
- 17:46Speaker 3: What's your reaction.
- 17:48Speaker 11: Yeah, he's obviously, you know, kind of telling you right
- 17:51Speaker 11: there that that some guys need to step it up. Yeah.
- 17:56Speaker 11: I don't know that that third period was and it
- 17:58Speaker 11: wasn't even a third period, you know, Mikey, it was
- 18:00Speaker 11: the final five minutes of the third period, right, I
- 18:03Speaker 11: think you know, I mean it was a tie. You
- 18:04Speaker 11: get a point in your hand until until what four
- 18:07Speaker 11: and a half or five and a half to go? Uh,
- 18:09Speaker 11: and they, you know, they gave up the goal that
- 18:11Speaker 11: ended being a game winner and then don't want able
- 18:13Speaker 11: to come back. So I I just I think sometimes,
- 18:17Speaker 11: you know, I can sense the frustration with Lane. We
- 18:20Speaker 11: sensed it a couple of times on the road trip.
- 18:22Speaker 11: To frustration he had. Part of it. I think too,
- 18:25Speaker 11: is that Lane Lambert's trying to change a culture. Yes,
- 18:29Speaker 11: and and I think I think he's there's gonna be
- 18:32Speaker 11: times when he's trying to change a culture, you're probably
- 18:34Speaker 11: going to become frustrated as a coach. And I kind
- 18:36Speaker 11: of sense that.
- 18:37Speaker 2: There what difference going back here to the fourth line
- 18:41Speaker 2: do you see in this lineup so far with and
- 18:44Speaker 2: without Jacob Allanson?
- 18:47Speaker 11: Well, it's it's it's definitely not the same. And that's
- 18:51Speaker 11: not to say that, you know, Millanson. You know, it's
- 18:54Speaker 11: not for me to say who should be in the
- 18:55Speaker 11: lineup or not. But when Jacob Allanson was in that
- 18:58Speaker 11: lineup and it was you know, Milanson and Myers and
- 19:01Speaker 11: winter ten or Karsier, it was kind of an interesting thing.
- 19:04Speaker 11: We had a fourth line that had four guys. You know,
- 19:06Speaker 11: sometimes Wentz would move up, uh and it would be
- 19:09Speaker 11: you know, car Shia. But nevertheless, that line was a
- 19:13Speaker 11: tone setter physically, you know, I'm a four check and
- 19:17Speaker 11: they pressed guys and defensemen had to have their heads
- 19:19Speaker 11: on a swivel on their own end. I don't think
- 19:21Speaker 11: you have that right now with that fourth line. Maybe
- 19:23Speaker 11: you can make an argument you have a little bit
- 19:25Speaker 11: more skill and if it drows down there, you have
- 19:27Speaker 11: a lot more skill.
- 19:28Speaker 7: Uh.
- 19:28Speaker 11: Freddie's a really still player. It's got to be hard
- 19:31Speaker 11: for him, right. I mean you're playing your top six
- 19:33Speaker 11: one day, top nine next, next, next, and you're now
- 19:36Speaker 11: in a fourth line again. So you know, I think
- 19:39Speaker 11: Lane's still trying to find what combinations work. Obviously we
- 19:41Speaker 11: had some blind juggling in Utah as well, so I
- 19:46Speaker 11: think with all those things being said that it's still
- 19:48Speaker 11: work in progress. Mike, it is, and and you know,
- 19:52Speaker 11: I think Lane's trying to figure like you just talked
- 19:54Speaker 11: about the you know, whether the effort that you have
- 19:57Speaker 11: when trying to figure that out, and he's trying to
- 19:58Speaker 11: figure out what but uh, a line combinations work in
- 20:01Speaker 11: which guys are really willing to pay the price, and
- 20:04Speaker 11: it's going to be something that he's gonna I said,
- 20:06Speaker 11: he's building a culture and that probably doesn't happen overnight.
- 20:09Speaker 11: We're gonna ask highs and lows. But I still like
- 20:11Speaker 11: what these guys are. I really like where they're at.
- 20:13Speaker 11: I mean, they're they're fine, They're they're in the mix,
- 20:15Speaker 11: and that's that's what you ask for in a very
- 20:18Speaker 11: tight Western conference. They're in the mix. And as you mentioned,
- 20:21Speaker 11: I think it's a great point. And this is the
- 20:23Speaker 11: this is a big homestand coming up.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Who surprises you the most as far as who's in
- 20:27Speaker 2: this next whether it might be Utah or still even
- 20:30Speaker 2: San Jose or Anaheim hanging around, the King's hanging around,
- 20:34Speaker 2: or even Nashville hanging around as well.
- 20:37Speaker 11: Well, Nashville kind of coming on lately. And I think
- 20:40Speaker 11: it's hard to answer because it feels like every week
- 20:42Speaker 11: it's somebody different, you know, I mean before before they
- 20:45Speaker 11: started last week, it was Seattle right right, and you know,
- 20:50Speaker 11: as you go through there, it's like basically everybody at
- 20:52Speaker 11: the conference except for Vancouver seems to have like their
- 20:55Speaker 11: glimpses or their glimmers of both. So, uh, maybe Calgary
- 20:59Speaker 11: with the moves they made on uh, it's kind of
- 21:01Speaker 11: tapping out, I guess. But you know, I think I
- 21:06Speaker 11: don't even know, because it just it seems like it
- 21:08Speaker 11: changes by the day and maybe by the week. It changes.
- 21:10Speaker 11: Like I said, like two weeks ago, Seattle would have
- 21:13Speaker 11: been that team this past week San Jose, I mean,
- 21:15Speaker 11: it just it changes every week.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Matchup two coming up here against Pittsburgh where the Kraken
- 21:20Speaker 2: will face Sidney Crosby and Evgetty Mulk and the crack
- 21:23Speaker 2: And won the first matchup three to two back in
- 21:26Speaker 2: November in sudden death over time man. The Penguins, no surprise,
- 21:31Speaker 2: second best power play in the NHL, penalty kill, fifth
- 21:34Speaker 2: best in the NHL, goals allowed ten best in the
- 21:40Speaker 2: NHL as well. The Penguins also six to two and
- 21:44Speaker 2: two in the last ten games. Just I mean, when
- 21:47Speaker 2: you think about it, me for as good as Lane
- 21:49Speaker 2: Lambert has been here for the crack and to get
- 21:51Speaker 2: them in the playoff next. I mean, Dann muse my goodness,
- 21:53Speaker 2: he is doing a bang up job right now keeping
- 21:56Speaker 2: Pittsburgh in the thick of it right now, third place
- 21:59Speaker 2: in the Metro Division. Sidney Crosby is once again doing
- 22:02Speaker 2: Sidney Crosby things of getting Malkin producing as a winger
- 22:07Speaker 2: on the second line. So Ian I kind of tee
- 22:09Speaker 2: this up here. Chandler steven sending getty matchups this season,
- 22:13Speaker 2: Maddy Banier is getting key matchups this season. How much
- 22:17Speaker 2: do you look at this as far as this game
- 22:19Speaker 2: coming up where matchups could matter.
- 22:21Speaker 11: Well, I think it's obvious Laning likes to match when
- 22:25Speaker 11: it can, especially with Chandler Stevenson. I was specifically with Stevie,
- 22:30Speaker 11: but you know you mentioned it, you know, Malkin's on
- 22:33Speaker 11: that so called second line, you know, and they've got
- 22:37Speaker 11: you know, their top their top six really hot. You know,
- 22:40Speaker 11: it's kind of heavy in terms of talent level. It
- 22:44Speaker 11: drops off a little bit after that's off six. You know,
- 22:48Speaker 11: they've got they have. It's interesting. Their fourth line is
- 22:51Speaker 11: kind of what you want to have. The fourth line
- 22:53Speaker 11: got a little bit more skill, you know, they got
- 22:55Speaker 11: a little bit more skill, and they got they got
- 22:57Speaker 11: some more more scoring. But they they therefore line as
- 23:00Speaker 11: a tone setter. So yeah, I I but I don't know,
- 23:04Speaker 11: it'd be interesting to see because I think the biggest
- 23:06Speaker 11: thing is just you mentioned it to the only box thinks, right,
- 23:10Speaker 11: you just gotta say stay out of the family box.
- 23:12Speaker 11: Don't do that. The interesting I'm assuming we'll see Skinner. Uh,
- 23:16Speaker 11: since they've been they've been alternating their goalies a lot.
- 23:18Speaker 11: Uh and she Laves went on on the last game,
- 23:22Speaker 11: so I would assume its Skinner, and Skinner's been kind
- 23:24Speaker 11: of yes and no, I mean Philip Skinners and right, yeah,
- 23:31Speaker 11: so but I mean, I it's it's the start of
- 23:35Speaker 11: a home stand, it's a day game. It's a little
- 23:37Speaker 11: bit different in that regards. It's funny back to back
- 23:39Speaker 11: two pm starts uh for Seattle and and low two
- 23:42Speaker 11: pm local time. At least it was three obviously in Utah.
- 23:45Speaker 11: So yeah, I gotta sail the money box because you
- 23:47Speaker 11: put you put that group, uh, because is their power
- 23:51Speaker 11: play is what you would expect, you know. I mean
- 23:53Speaker 11: it's especially with you know, with an injury. Let's hags
- 23:57Speaker 11: back on the number one power play, Quel is you
- 24:00Speaker 11: can finish Malkin obviously, Sydney Cross, Ryan Ross, they got skill,
- 24:06Speaker 11: they got a lot of skill.
- 24:07Speaker 2: And speaking of that fourth line, by the way, Noel
- 24:10Speaker 2: Achari Blake Lazatte in the Middleland, a name familiar to
- 24:14Speaker 2: the Pacific Northwest. Yes, Connor Doer as well.
- 24:18Speaker 3: Gonna be a fun one two pm.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Mattine coming up, Mayor, appreciate you have a great show,
- 24:23Speaker 2: have a great.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Call, my friend.
- 24:25Speaker 11: Thanks Mike Y else at the rink.
- 24:27Speaker 3: All right, Mayor, thank you very much.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Dad, See and for Nest joining us once again heard
- 24:31Speaker 2: one to three weekdays here on these airwaves at ninety
- 24:34Speaker 2: three to three KJRFM TV host here for the KRACK
- 24:37Speaker 2: and Hockey Network as well. He's got the TV call
- 24:39Speaker 2: coming up here for today's game. This matchup is the
- 24:43Speaker 2: second of two coming up here for these two teams
- 24:46Speaker 2: pretty evenly matched up as well as far as Holman
- 24:48Speaker 2: road record the Crack in ten seven and five on
- 24:52Speaker 2: home ice, the Penguins eleven seven and four on the road,
- 24:56Speaker 2: and those two centaters who we talked about who could
- 24:58Speaker 2: be in a matchup situation, they've also got a bit
- 25:00Speaker 2: of a hot hand coming into this game. Bo Chandler
- 25:03Speaker 2: Stevenson and Sidney Crosby looking to push their goal scoring
- 25:07Speaker 2: streaks now to three consecutive games. Stevenson right now second
- 25:13Speaker 2: on the Crack and with thirteen goals in forty five games.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Crosby, no surprise.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Twenty six goals in forty seven games, also with fifty
- 25:22Speaker 2: three points on the campaign. On the injury side, goaltender
- 25:26Speaker 2: Matt Murray remains on injury reserve, but Lane Lambert telling
- 25:29Speaker 2: the media on Sunday that he is quote progressing end
- 25:33Speaker 2: quote to the point where he's quote almost ready, so
- 25:36Speaker 2: we'll see what happens end quote. The Penguins also down
- 25:40Speaker 2: defenseman Eric Carlson, losing into a lower body injury just
- 25:43Speaker 2: this last week, but within a two week timetable, he's
- 25:46Speaker 2: already making rapid progression showing back up in a recent
- 25:49Speaker 2: practice in a non contact jersey, and reports say he
- 25:53Speaker 2: will travel on this road trip here with the Penguins.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Gonna be a fun one.
- 25:58Speaker 2: The only time Sidney Crosby of Getty Malkin and Crew
- 26:01Speaker 2: rolling to climbate Pledgerina.
- 26:03Speaker 3: For this regular season.
- 26:05Speaker 2: It's a two pm Mattinnee Martin Luther King Junior Game Tilt,
