- 0:04Speaker 1: the road with this guy over here, Chris, be out
- 0:07Speaker 1: with this guy in Australia coming up real soon, So
- 0:10Speaker 1: get your ticket spot, get out there, spend some minute
- 0:12Speaker 1: time with us, make some memories, have a good time.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Yeah, beautiful man, thanks for joining us to that.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Ryan, Oh, thank you. Appreciate your time.
- 0:21Speaker 3: As you say, Drowning Pool will be in Australia's singing
- 0:23Speaker 3: for running shows with Alien and Fom and Frankenbach starting
- 0:26Speaker 3: in Brisbane on February eleven.
- 0:28Speaker 2: So how you feeling mine?
- 0:31Speaker 1: I feeling okay man. I started some DIY project here
- 0:36Speaker 1: at the house about two weeks ago. I'm in the
- 0:40Speaker 1: second week of it right now. I should took about
- 0:42Speaker 1: four days, but my amazing, loving, incredible, just to beyond
- 0:46Speaker 1: all good positive things you can say about human being,
- 0:50Speaker 1: my wife has decided to wait until the project is
- 0:56Speaker 1: close to being done on a couple of different occasions,
- 0:58Speaker 1: decided that she wants to completely different. So the four
- 1:02Speaker 1: day project is turned into about two weeks. So I'm
- 1:05Speaker 1: I'm wrapping it up right now, just in time to
- 1:07Speaker 1: hit the tarmac and to fly out for the States.
- 1:09Speaker 1: On Sunday where we go into the studio for a
- 1:12Speaker 1: few days before we hit the back into the airplane
- 1:15Speaker 1: again for Australia. So h right now, I'm enjoying the
- 1:19Speaker 1: fact that I'm talking to you because that means I'm
- 1:21Speaker 1: not I'm not taking a risk of cutting any more
- 1:23Speaker 1: fingers off on any sauce or anything as I work
- 1:26Speaker 1: around the house.
- 1:27Speaker 2: So lessons I've even packed yet for the toe bato.
- 1:30Speaker 2: You haven't even had a chance for that.
- 1:32Speaker 1: No, I have no idea. I probably just end up.
- 1:36Speaker 1: You know what, as long as I'm in Australia, dude,
- 1:39Speaker 1: it's gonna be hot. As long as I got As
- 1:41Speaker 1: long as I got some underwear and uh and a
- 1:44Speaker 1: shoe to do a drink out of, I'll be fine.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I reckon, I.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Bring you a heavy shed along side you got I got.
- 1:53Speaker 1: I gotta get pack and I gotta get back. And
- 1:56Speaker 1: that's for sure, pretty pool.
- 1:58Speaker 3: We were lost to join the show off to see
- 2:00Speaker 3: Ky pull it out, mate, So is that pretty extra
- 2:03Speaker 3: pressure on you come into it Orney lest you reckon?
- 2:06Speaker 1: No, No, I don't think anything of it. I don't
- 2:11Speaker 1: think No, I haven't. I haven't given that any thought
- 2:14Speaker 1: on we just do what we do. That doesn't matter
- 2:17Speaker 1: who's who's you know, it doesn't matter the spot we're
- 2:20Speaker 1: in or who we're with. We're going to be drowning Pool.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I mean, it's uh, it's a luxury. It's it's a
- 2:28Speaker 1: luxury that you have when you're when people have kept
- 2:33Speaker 1: you around as long as they have drowning Pool, you know,
- 2:36Speaker 1: you don't necessarily need to worry about twisting or bending
- 2:39Speaker 1: your set vibe to match the match of the package
- 2:43Speaker 1: that you're out with. You just when when when you've
- 2:47Speaker 1: had the opportunity and you've been you've you've been given
- 2:51Speaker 1: the opportunity to to be to be out there doing
- 2:54Speaker 1: this as long as we have people, people tend this
- 2:59Speaker 1: to want to hear what you doing. So we just
- 3:01Speaker 1: go out there and be ourselves regardless of what the
- 3:03Speaker 1: package is.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Thanks.
- 3:05Speaker 3: And yeah, the band hasn't been here out of you
- 3:07Speaker 3: since twenty sixteen. Like I was gonna say, what's changed
- 3:11Speaker 3: with the band? But the mist o't be the biggest thing.
- 3:13Speaker 3: It's looking at me right now.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, we got back together about two years ago
- 3:19Speaker 1: and been busy as well. I mean, been very busy
- 3:22Speaker 1: since it's awesome the demand for the band has been
- 3:24Speaker 1: as incredible as it is. But that's also why we
- 3:27Speaker 1: decided in early twenty twenty four, looking at our schedule
- 3:31Speaker 1: and realizing just how much twenty twenty four was going
- 3:35Speaker 1: to replicate twenty twenty three as far as just being
- 3:37Speaker 1: very US heavy as far as shows go, festivals and
- 3:42Speaker 1: everything we knew to twenty twenty five, we wanted to
- 3:45Speaker 1: concentrate on overseas, meaning outside of the US, and one
- 3:50Speaker 1: of our top locations that we wanted to do we
- 3:53Speaker 1: wanted to get back to was was Australia, and we
- 3:59Speaker 1: didn't I have this one. You know, this wasn't on
- 4:02Speaker 1: our radar at all. Myself, hating the sun and hating
- 4:06Speaker 1: everything that has to do with hot weather, I didn't
- 4:09Speaker 1: want anything to do with Australia during Australia summer, so
- 4:12Speaker 1: I was I was looking more towards Australian winter. But
- 4:15Speaker 1: when this came about, it was kind of a no brainer,
- 4:18Speaker 1: you know, we got I got the email sometime in
- 4:20Speaker 1: the middle of my night here in England, and uh
- 4:25Speaker 1: it was it was a no brainer. Did they you know,
- 4:27Speaker 1: they they wanted us to come on take as you said, uh,
- 4:31Speaker 1: take the spot of of h C K Y and
- 4:34Speaker 1: UH turn it into a co headline tour. So yeah,
- 4:39Speaker 1: it was a no brainer to do it. You never
- 4:41Speaker 1: know when you when you have that list of places
- 4:44Speaker 1: you want to go to, you're hoping they pan out.
- 4:47Speaker 1: But there's so many, so much politics involved and everything
- 4:50Speaker 1: that when something like this did come about, we didn't
- 4:53Speaker 1: want to turn it down. And then all of a
- 4:55Speaker 1: sudden be looking, you know, be having twenty twenty five
- 4:58Speaker 1: in our rear view mirror and not haven't gotten over
- 5:01Speaker 1: to Australia. So it was it was something that we
- 5:03Speaker 1: definitely wanted to jump on and make happen. So it's
- 5:06Speaker 1: taken a lot of work, in particularly from CJ. It's
- 5:11Speaker 1: taken a lot of work on his part to UH
- 5:13Speaker 1: to get all the t's crossed and the ice dotted
- 5:16Speaker 1: so that the band, the entity of Drowning Pool was
- 5:20Speaker 1: able to jump on this and get everything ready to go.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Well, you're not gonna want to hate this private We're
- 5:25Speaker 3: in the middle of a hate wave at the moment.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Say you might any needy ones and that's it.
- 5:29Speaker 1: You know, Chris, that's complete bullshit and I don't want
- 5:31Speaker 1: to hear it at.
- 5:32Speaker 4: All, all Right, She said, if you guys played Busulianna
- 5:39Speaker 4: have fun before, mate, they look like a lot of fun.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Well, you know, we' both been around for a couple
- 5:45Speaker 1: of days and uh so we've had the opportunity to
- 5:47Speaker 1: share the stage off and on through the years. Actually,
- 5:50Speaker 1: just most recently we did a we had a show
- 5:53Speaker 1: in Tennessee this past year, twenty twenty four, and they
- 5:56Speaker 1: happened to be in the area, so their people call
- 5:58Speaker 1: our people was like, hey, how about you know, can
- 6:01Speaker 1: Alien jump on in a support slot? And we're like absolutely,
- 6:05Speaker 1: So we actually are. Paths just crossed as recently as
- 6:08Speaker 1: this past year, but we've I did a full tour
- 6:12Speaker 1: with him several years ago with a band with the
- 6:15Speaker 1: band Soil. We did a European and UK run with him.
- 6:20Speaker 1: So yeah, we've all we've all shared time with each
- 6:24Speaker 1: other at some point.
- 6:27Speaker 2: I want the chances if you got it jumping up
- 6:28Speaker 2: and doing smooth Criminal.
- 6:29Speaker 1: With them, none, he said, there was a good chance
- 6:37Speaker 1: for him. Now. Yeah, if you're talking, if you're talking
- 6:41Speaker 1: drowning pools in somebody from Drowning Pool. CJ is all
- 6:44Speaker 1: about that ship. CJ is all about good times. I
- 6:46Speaker 1: hate good times. I hate happiness. I hate small children's laughter, sunshine,
- 6:50Speaker 1: puppy dogs, I hate all that ship. So no, I
- 6:53Speaker 1: will not be getting up and having a good time
- 6:55Speaker 1: with alien that farm. That's all CJ's world right there.
- 6:57Speaker 1: I let that kild have the laughs and the smiles
- 6:59Speaker 1: and all that happiness. Shit, I am not doing that.
- 7:04Speaker 3: That's probably the best answer to a question I've got
- 7:07Speaker 3: in twenty years doing this job.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Mane that's fucking awesome.
- 7:13Speaker 1: Just coming from the heart, buddy, that's all I know.
- 7:16Speaker 3: So there's gonna be a lot of people coming along,
- 7:19Speaker 3: but money from Drowning Pool, which is bodies. But you
- 7:22Speaker 3: guys are so much more than that to say, give us,
- 7:24Speaker 3: give us, say five other songs they can listen to
- 7:26Speaker 3: from Drowning Pool.
- 7:28Speaker 2: You get to know the band.
- 7:29Speaker 1: That's really that's real easy coming from me to that's
- 7:31Speaker 1: real easy. People don't know this. But as far as
- 7:34Speaker 1: rock radio metal rate, you know, as far as radio
- 7:37Speaker 1: charts in the US, it was it was my time
- 7:43Speaker 1: with Drowning Pool that we wrote the three highest charting
- 7:45Speaker 1: songs radio wise in Drowning Pool's history. That's including I'm
- 7:52Speaker 1: talking about the history, so I'm talking about out charted Bodies,
- 7:56Speaker 1: which was thirty seven stitches turned so cold and feel
- 8:00Speaker 1: like I do. The will always be the Body's band,
- 8:05Speaker 1: and I'm very appreciative, Thank God for Bodies always. You
- 8:09Speaker 1: know the people out there like Obandian Draft pol Uh
- 8:13Speaker 1: let the Body hit the floor. Oh that's my favorite song.
- 8:15Speaker 1: It's your favorite song. You don't know who played that?
- 8:17Speaker 1: What the hell? But but the Uh always be the
- 8:19Speaker 1: Body song. And I'm thankful for that because any any
- 8:21Speaker 1: opportunity we have to that I have personally, to to
- 8:24Speaker 1: be a to be a part of a song, to
- 8:27Speaker 1: play a song that that Dave Williams was a part
- 8:30Speaker 1: of is a is a gift and as a gift
- 8:33Speaker 1: that I love to give back as well because as
- 8:35Speaker 1: long as that that man's work is still in people's
- 8:38Speaker 1: ear holes and the world is a good as a
- 8:40Speaker 1: better place.
- 8:43Speaker 2: But but.
- 8:45Speaker 1: My era of the band, like I said, those three
- 8:47Speaker 1: songs with the highest charting songs in the band's history, Uh,
- 8:50Speaker 1: the song Revolution just came out. You've also got to
- 8:54Speaker 1: step up from the Jason Jones era of that. That's
- 8:57Speaker 1: that's the cool thing about this band is it's very
- 9:00Speaker 1: easy to separate the band into four different eras when
- 9:02Speaker 1: you're talking about you can you can easily do that
- 9:04Speaker 1: with Dave Williams, Uh, Jason Jones, myself and Jason Mareno.
- 9:10Speaker 1: It's very easy to separate that and and you'll see
- 9:14Speaker 1: the live wise, you'll see every flavor of the band
- 9:19Speaker 1: through those years. Because I think it's very important to
- 9:22Speaker 1: always keep in mind as a member of Drowning Pool
- 9:25Speaker 1: that not only are we blessed and or are we
- 9:27Speaker 1: lucky that people have kept us around this long, but
- 9:29Speaker 1: you have to have the realization and and and tap
- 9:32Speaker 1: into reality of the fact that some people out there
- 9:36Speaker 1: got You know, some people are old school man. They
- 9:38Speaker 1: they were into the band from Jason, from from Dave
- 9:41Speaker 1: Williams on. Some of some people their favorite Maybe they
- 9:46Speaker 1: didn't get introduced to Drowning Pool until desensitized and and
- 9:49Speaker 1: step up and some of those tracks hate and stuff.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Maybe some of those songs are their favorite tracks. Maybe
- 9:56Speaker 1: my era with a feel like I Do or Enemy
- 9:59Speaker 1: or or one of those songs, maybe that's their era.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Or maybe some of the stuff with Jason Moreno finger
- 10:05Speaker 1: and a fist and red light and stuff, maybe that's
- 10:08Speaker 1: their flavor. So as as a member of the band,
- 10:11Speaker 1: you got to keep in mind that there's people out
- 10:12Speaker 1: there in the crowd who may be a fan. You know,
- 10:15Speaker 1: any one of those eras may be their favorite. So
- 10:18Speaker 1: you want to you want to incorporate pieces and parts
- 10:20Speaker 1: of all those times into the live show that everybody
- 10:24Speaker 1: walks away going, you know, they heard their track, they
- 10:26Speaker 1: heard a track from their album, you know. So it's
- 10:30Speaker 1: it's it's not only awesome to be to be kept
- 10:32Speaker 1: around this long, but it's awesome to have a discography
- 10:35Speaker 1: like like Johnny Pool has that you're able to pull
- 10:38Speaker 1: from such a vast variety of music to make a
- 10:42Speaker 1: killer set or what you hope is a killer set.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Oh, you mentioned a single Revolution, which is the latest
- 10:48Speaker 3: one you guys have released, Like it was your first with.
- 10:51Speaker 2: The band in thirteen years. So were you're nervous at all?
- 10:56Speaker 1: No, not at all. It was you know, when we
- 10:59Speaker 1: got together, it was it was Stevie and I going
- 11:03Speaker 1: back and forth on messages, just small talk. And that
- 11:06Speaker 1: was weird to me because Stevie is Stevie's. Stevie's a
- 11:10Speaker 1: Texas as Texas can be. He is. He's not all
- 11:13Speaker 1: about your small talk. He's a man a few words.
- 11:15Speaker 1: But what he has to say is usually worth listening to.
- 11:19Speaker 1: So all of a sudden, we're bouncing back and forth
- 11:22Speaker 1: on text messages one night, and about an hour and
- 11:25Speaker 1: a half into I'm just like, this isn't this is
- 11:27Speaker 1: not like Stevie, Well, what's up? So I was like, Man,
- 11:30Speaker 1: are you sure everything's all right? He's like, everything's great.
- 11:33Speaker 1: He was actually I was wondering. We were wondering if
- 11:37Speaker 1: you'd be into doing some reunion shows, and I was like, hell,
- 11:40Speaker 1: Without missing a beat, I was like, yeah, absolutely, and uh.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Then like three days later, two days later, I got
- 11:46Speaker 1: a phone call from their manager at the time, and
- 11:49Speaker 1: it wasn't like reunion shows. It was you're back in
- 11:51Speaker 1: the band. We got some shows coming up soon. We
- 11:53Speaker 1: got to show Panthera to get ready for.
- 11:55Speaker 2: Uh.
- 11:56Speaker 1: And by soon, I mean in two weeks. So it
- 11:59Speaker 1: was it was we're gonna get you book a flight,
- 12:01Speaker 1: book gets you in a couple of days before the show.
- 12:04Speaker 1: You'll have like a day or two to rehearsal with
- 12:05Speaker 1: the guys, first time in thirteen years. And then you
- 12:09Speaker 1: got shows. So walking into that, you know, flying into Dallas, Texas,
- 12:14Speaker 1: CJ picked me up. We uh, we walked into the studio.
- 12:18Speaker 1: We walked into the rehearsal spot first time being around
- 12:21Speaker 1: these guys in a jam and atmosphere in thirteen years,
- 12:24Speaker 1: and it was like it was just like putting on
- 12:26Speaker 1: a pair of comfy shoes, you know. It was it
- 12:29Speaker 1: was like we hadn't missed a beat. And that's the
- 12:32Speaker 1: way the live shows were, and just everything was just
- 12:36Speaker 1: just the only difference in in the rehearsals was that
- 12:40Speaker 1: between songs, when people pick up their phones to like
- 12:44Speaker 1: check messages or whatever, they had to hold the phones
- 12:47Speaker 1: a little bit farther away from their faces in order
- 12:49Speaker 1: to read the small fucking print on them. That was
- 12:51Speaker 1: the only the only difference was just the the age
- 12:54Speaker 1: factor that had nailed us over the thirteen years. But
- 12:57Speaker 1: other than that, man, it was it was like a
- 12:59Speaker 1: bolt hat. It was cool.
- 13:02Speaker 3: You said before that you got on to the studio
- 13:04Speaker 3: for a few days before you hit us try it
- 13:05Speaker 3: so that main revelation is not just a standalone single.
- 13:09Speaker 1: But yeah, oh not at all. No, it never intended
- 13:11Speaker 1: to be. It just happened to be the first song
- 13:13Speaker 1: we had done. The demand for the band has been great,
- 13:16Speaker 1: like I said, and but the downside of that is
- 13:20Speaker 1: that since getting back together, the creative juices have been flowing.
- 13:24Speaker 1: And I know that sounds kind of like you never
- 13:26Speaker 1: want to hear juice has been flowing because it makes
- 13:28Speaker 1: you feel like you may have just walked into a
- 13:29Speaker 1: weird porn scene or something, but it's the new material
- 13:36Speaker 1: has been just been cranking it out. Wow, dude, we
- 13:40Speaker 1: went from juices flowing to porn scene to cranking it
- 13:43Speaker 1: out right there, all within like a that was all
- 13:46Speaker 1: within a sixty second line. Holy shit. Now with Chris Peters,
- 13:52Speaker 1: we have X rated material coming out to your airways
- 13:55Speaker 1: on social media.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Enjoy every way.
- 13:58Speaker 1: I'm sorry I took us down this road, dude, this
- 14:00Speaker 1: is fucked up. Revolution just happened to be the first song.
- 14:03Speaker 1: They're like, we need a song yesterday, and we're like, well,
- 14:05Speaker 1: here's here's a song we have done. But it's awesome
- 14:09Speaker 1: because we have such no diss on Revolution. But like,
- 14:13Speaker 1: if you like Revolution, you're gonna love the material we
- 14:16Speaker 1: got coming because we got we got I think I
- 14:22Speaker 1: think Revolution is uh, I like it, but compared to
- 14:28Speaker 1: the stuff we got coming, it's uh yeah. I think
- 14:32Speaker 1: everyone would be happy
