- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on you, ah, I sure will.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Good morning everybody.
- 0:07Speaker 1: You all listening to the voice, Come on dig me now,
- 0:09Speaker 1: one and only Steve Harvey got a radio show. Hell
- 0:14Speaker 1: Man back in business too, Man Man, How good is God?
- 0:19Speaker 1: I mean, really, if you think about it in spite
- 0:21Speaker 1: of all that's going down in your life. First of all,
- 0:24Speaker 1: it could be worse. But secondly, sometimes you have to remember.
- 0:28Speaker 1: And I've just had to have this conversation with myself
- 0:32Speaker 1: this morning. That's how I'm fresh on this one right here.
- 0:35Speaker 1: When a challenge faces you, are you going through a
- 0:40Speaker 1: difficult moment, or you didn't hit a bump in the
- 0:42Speaker 1: road in the middle of that, if you could manage
- 0:45Speaker 1: to be grateful, it would take you a long way.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Gratitude is a powerful resource if you can be grateful
- 0:54Speaker 1: in the middle of it. Gratitude is a powerful resource
- 0:59Speaker 1: when it's.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Dim for you.
- 1:01Speaker 1: And then got a little bumpy on the road, and
- 1:04Speaker 1: he ran into some obstacles, and you done ran up
- 1:06Speaker 1: into some detailed signs, and your journey ain't smooth as
- 1:11Speaker 1: it was last week or last year. You gotta be
- 1:15Speaker 1: grateful for the things that are going right and that
- 1:20Speaker 1: have gone right, and for the thing that's wrong right now?
- 1:24Speaker 2: To get right?
- 1:25Speaker 1: Man?
- 1:25Speaker 2: Can I share that with you?
- 1:27Speaker 1: Man?
- 1:27Speaker 2: Is that a tough one to learn? It is? For me.
- 1:30Speaker 1: It has been one of my toughest challenges is to
- 1:34Speaker 1: learn how to be grateful because it's a powerful resource,
- 1:38Speaker 1: but how to be grateful in moments of despair when
- 1:42Speaker 1: it ain't going right.
- 1:43Speaker 2: See here's a mistake I would make.
- 1:45Speaker 1: See when something go wrong, I want to focus on
- 1:47Speaker 1: the wrong so much in an attempt to fix it.
- 1:51Speaker 1: But even then, the focus ain't always in to fix it.
- 1:56Speaker 1: The focus becomes, Man, this is bad, man, And I
- 2:00Speaker 1: can't believe this is happening. Why this keep going down?
- 2:04Speaker 1: That doesn't fix anything? You know, mealing over it, going
- 2:09Speaker 1: over what's wrong, explaining it, sharing it with your friends,
- 2:15Speaker 1: you know, making it sound worse than it is, tell
- 2:19Speaker 1: the story for pity from other people. All of that,
- 2:22Speaker 1: right there, has nothing to do with the fix. Sometimes
- 2:25Speaker 1: you're just mulling over it. You're just making it worse.
- 2:28Speaker 1: You're just making it a bigger problem. You're manifesting it
- 2:31Speaker 1: into your atmosphere, You're putting it out there in your spirit.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Now all of a sudden it consumes your day. Next thing,
- 2:37Speaker 1: you know, you're having a bad day. If you're having
- 2:40Speaker 1: a bad day, it's because you've been having some bad thoughts.
- 2:44Speaker 1: So what I've had to learn how to do, and
- 2:46Speaker 1: what I'm working on this morning is I'm working on
- 2:49Speaker 1: the situation that Ben cropped up. I was going kind
- 2:52Speaker 1: of smooth here for a minute and now then got
- 2:54Speaker 1: real bumpy in the road, you know, and all this here.
- 2:57Speaker 1: So what I'm thinking about now though, is even though
- 3:00Speaker 1: I've hit a bumping the road, and even though I
- 3:03Speaker 1: done ran into a detour, and even though I've hit
- 3:07Speaker 1: this lull, I'm going down into a valley, I ain't
- 3:11Speaker 1: up on the peak.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Can I not.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Still be grateful for all the things that God has
- 3:16Speaker 1: given me, for all the things He's done for me,
- 3:20Speaker 1: for all the things He's bought me through, And realizing
- 3:24Speaker 1: that even this that's happening to me again is going
- 3:28Speaker 1: to pass to He gonna get me through that too.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Come on, man, God is a good god man. It's
- 3:33Speaker 1: a lot to be grateful for. So while I'm tripping
- 3:36Speaker 1: on this bumping the road out and here, what I
- 3:38Speaker 1: got to remember is all the things He's done for me.
- 3:40Speaker 1: And like I say, my saying is join depression cannot
- 3:44Speaker 1: reside in the same place. So instead of being down
- 3:47Speaker 1: about this new bumping the road, if I'm constantly filling
- 3:50Speaker 1: my mind with the thoughts of how good he's been
- 3:53Speaker 1: to me, of what all he's done for me, of
- 3:56Speaker 1: all the things he's brought me through, of all the
- 3:58Speaker 1: blessings he's presented me with. When I go down that list,
- 4:02Speaker 1: I really don't have a lot of time to mull
- 4:06Speaker 1: over the situation.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Now.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Do I have to fix this bump in the row?
- 4:11Speaker 1: Of course I do. Are There's some things I'm going
- 4:14Speaker 1: to have to do to straighten it out. Of course
- 4:16Speaker 1: it is. But Steve just going to get the business
- 4:19Speaker 1: of doing it and straighten it out. What you mulling
- 4:22Speaker 1: over and worrying about it for you know, old people.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I heard old people say something when I was growing
- 4:26Speaker 1: up in the church. They say, if you're gonna pray
- 4:28Speaker 1: about it, don't worry about it. But if you're gonna
- 4:31Speaker 1: worry about it, don't pray about it. That's an amazing thing.
- 4:34Speaker 1: And prayer just happens to be my weapon of choice. Now,
- 4:39Speaker 1: it ain't always been that way. I want you to
- 4:41Speaker 1: understand that my first weapon of choice was you do
- 4:44Speaker 1: it to me, I do it to you.
- 4:45Speaker 2: You called me out, I call you out.
- 4:48Speaker 1: You say something bad about me, I've tried to find
- 4:50Speaker 1: you say something bad about you. That was my weapon
- 4:53Speaker 1: in the past. How did that work out for you, Steve?
- 4:56Speaker 1: Not so good? Because you know what, I spent a
- 5:00Speaker 1: lot of time fighting back, kicking back, swinging back, when
- 5:05Speaker 1: I could have spent all that time climbing. See, all
- 5:09Speaker 1: you trying to do at the end of the day, folks,
- 5:11Speaker 1: is have a better life than the one you got.
- 5:13Speaker 1: All you trying to do is to improve your position
- 5:16Speaker 1: in life. You know, it's not my business to make
- 5:19Speaker 1: sure you don't get where you going. I ain't got
- 5:21Speaker 1: no time for that. It's not my job to assure
- 5:25Speaker 1: that you ain't as high as me. I ain't got
- 5:27Speaker 1: no time for that. Your real mission and purpose is
- 5:31Speaker 1: to have the best life that you can have, to
- 5:34Speaker 1: ascend to the highest plateau that you can get to,
- 5:38Speaker 1: to make your family as comfortable as you can, to
- 5:41Speaker 1: provide as much as you can for your family.
- 5:43Speaker 2: But legally, see, those.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Of us are sitting up here trying to come up
- 5:47Speaker 1: with sideways. You can ask a couple million men sitting
- 5:50Speaker 1: in prison today how they wish they hadn't have done that,
- 5:53Speaker 1: And they'll tell you, oh, man, I wish I never
- 5:56Speaker 1: had did it. I knew not to go down there
- 6:00Speaker 1: and told me not to go down there. Man, if
- 6:02Speaker 1: I could change things, I would. But they sitting somewhere
- 6:06Speaker 1: doing some time that had they made another decision, they
- 6:09Speaker 1: wouldn't have to do now. That don't make them throw
- 6:12Speaker 1: away people, nah, man, because everybody make mistakes, and God
- 6:16Speaker 1: is in the forgiving business. And some of us have
- 6:18Speaker 1: done some things that really broke the law, and a
- 6:22Speaker 1: whole lot of other things and deserve to do some time.
- 6:24Speaker 1: But through the grace of God, we didn't. But now
- 6:26Speaker 1: we sit up here we pass judgment on people who
- 6:29Speaker 1: got to do some matter. I don't care. I don't
- 6:31Speaker 1: care what you've done. God can forgive anything. But our position,
- 6:35Speaker 1: our motivation in life is to try to have the
- 6:38Speaker 1: best life we can have and provide for those around
- 6:41Speaker 1: us and make it comfortable. If that's your ambition, you
- 6:44Speaker 1: don't have time to worry about or concern yourself with
- 6:49Speaker 1: another person. And I wasted time doing that, and that's
- 6:53Speaker 1: not the way to get it done. It's simply mine
- 6:57Speaker 1: to your business. Taking care of you and getting yourself
- 6:59Speaker 1: right and tight is twenty four seven.
- 7:02Speaker 2: So that's a full time job.
- 7:03Speaker 1: So what I had to learn was and what I've
- 7:06Speaker 1: the reason I've chosen prayers as my weapon of choice
- 7:10Speaker 1: now is that now prayer helps me that I don't
- 7:14Speaker 1: have to fight back. Now, if I get cornered, I'm
- 7:18Speaker 1: gonna fight you. I ain't even gonna lie to you.
- 7:21Speaker 1: And I'm still working on some things that trigger me.
- 7:25Speaker 1: You know, you know, you know, and and so I'm
- 7:29Speaker 1: I'm slowly getting better at that. But I've learned that
- 7:33Speaker 1: my weapon of choice is prayer now. So when it
- 7:38Speaker 1: happens ugly for me, I pray about it. When it
- 7:41Speaker 1: gets tight and dismal for me, I pray about it.
- 7:45Speaker 1: And the thing about prayer, man, is prayer changes things. Yes,
- 7:50Speaker 1: it does. Now read about it and try it.
- 7:55Speaker 2: That's the deal. Okay, come on, Prayer is a wonderful weapon.
- 7:58Speaker 2: You're listening, Eve Harvey Morning Show
