- 0:01Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Radio Eye's Children's Story Hour. As
- 0:06Speaker 1: a reminder, Radio Eye is a reading service intended for
- 0:09Speaker 1: people who are blind or have other disabilities that make
- 0:12Speaker 1: it difficult to read printed material. Today we'll be reading Oliver,
- 0:17Speaker 1: the Outstanding and Original Oviraptor. Your reader today is Susan Mills,
- 0:24Speaker 1: and we're going to be reading several books, and my
- 0:26Speaker 1: husband Cameron Mills is also joining us. I am a mom.
- 0:31Speaker 1: That is my biggest role in life. And I love
- 0:36Speaker 1: writing children's books because I get to write amazing stories
- 0:41Speaker 1: that relate to all of our listeners today. So we're
- 0:46Speaker 1: going to start with this book. It was published by
- 0:49Speaker 1: Rainbow Sparrow Books and it has a copyright year from 2024.
- 0:53Speaker 1: And it's by me, Susan Mills. So let's get started. Okay, Oliver,
- 1:01Speaker 1: the outstanding and original Oviraptor. So the cover of this
- 1:05Speaker 1: book has a purplish blue dinosaur with a green mohawk.
- 1:11Speaker 1: And guess what? He's wearing big red glasses. And there's
- 1:16Speaker 1: a little purple bird with a pink mohawk. that is
- 1:20Speaker 1: flying towards him with a little pair of glasses. I
- 1:24Speaker 1: wonder what this story will be about. Okay. Now, before,
- 1:29Speaker 1: in each of the books, there is a little heart
- 1:32Speaker 1: before each story starts with a special message. And inside
- 1:37Speaker 1: that heart for this book is, Dear Friends, it is
- 1:41Speaker 1: with love that we can see with our hearts and
- 1:45Speaker 1: not our eyes. tucked away in the lush green lands
- 1:51Speaker 1: of dino valley there was a little ophiraptor named oliver
- 1:55Speaker 1: whose curiosity was as big as the mighty t-rex there
- 2:01Speaker 1: is a wooden sign on all of these little rocks
- 2:04Speaker 1: and you see oliver peeping out from behind them like
- 2:09Speaker 1: he's inviting us to play every morning he would leap
- 2:15Speaker 1: out of his nest with a burst of energy, eager
- 2:18Speaker 1: to join his friends at school. Now, Oliver's bed is
- 2:22Speaker 1: not just an ordinary bed. It looks like a bed,
- 2:25Speaker 1: but guess what? There's a nest inside, and the little
- 2:29Speaker 1: bird is sitting at the foot of the bed watching him.
- 2:33Speaker 1: The sun is out, and his backpack is ready to
- 2:37Speaker 1: go at the end of his bed. Oliver loved school
- 2:42Speaker 1: and he worked hard to learn all of the lessons
- 2:44Speaker 1: his teacher shared. Reading, math, and science were so exciting.
- 2:49Speaker 1: He even loved learning about the gentle Diplodocus in the
- 2:53Speaker 1: Jurassic period. Now here we have a fun classroom. We have,
- 2:58Speaker 1: it looks like, a big Brachiosaurus student. We have Stella,
- 3:05Speaker 1: the Stegosaurus. We have Hadley, the Hadrosaurus. We have Oliver
- 3:09Speaker 1: sitting in his chair with his little bird. And then
- 3:12Speaker 1: we have a little Drew, Dryosaurus, who's sitting on a
- 3:15Speaker 1: red block. And we see the teacher's desk. And guess what?
- 3:19Speaker 1: There's a red apple on her desk that somebody brought
- 3:23Speaker 1: her and a little toy dinosaur. There are shelves lined
- 3:27Speaker 1: with books and blocks and lunchboxes and craft supplies and pencils.
- 3:35Speaker 1: They are ready to learn. One morning, as Oliver was
- 3:40Speaker 1: perched in his usual seat, he realized he couldn't see
- 3:44Speaker 1: the board very well. The pictures on the board, which
- 3:47Speaker 1: once seemed clear, were now a blur. There's a picture
- 3:52Speaker 1: of a blackboard with a bird and eggs and nest,
- 3:56Speaker 1: but all of the pictures are really super blurry. Confused
- 4:02Speaker 1: and slightly embarrassed, he gathered his courage, raised his hand,
- 4:05Speaker 1: and asked, Can you draw the pictures larger, please? So
- 4:10Speaker 1: here's a picture of Oliver with his little hand raised,
- 4:14Speaker 1: and he is wanting to ask a question. He's sitting
- 4:17Speaker 1: in his chair, and outside the window, we can see
- 4:20Speaker 1: a playground. His friends turned to Oliver and saw his
- 4:25Speaker 1: eyes squinting. The rest of the room fell into a hush. Suddenly,
- 4:30Speaker 1: Oliver felt like he was the largest dinosaur with nowhere
- 4:35Speaker 1: to hide. We see Oliver with his eyes squinted. He's
- 4:40Speaker 1: trying really hard to see the blackbird. And all of
- 4:44Speaker 1: his friends are looking and staring at him. That can't
- 4:50Speaker 1: feel good. So after class, his teacher asked Oliver, do
- 4:54Speaker 1: you have time for a quick chat? Anything for you,
- 4:57Speaker 1: said Oliver, jumping over a desk to stand before his teacher.
- 5:01Speaker 1: You see Oliver leaping over this desk like it's nothing
- 5:05Speaker 1: at all. And his teacher is standing by the blackboard
- 5:10Speaker 1: with a piece of wood in her hand. Like she's
- 5:13Speaker 1: been writing something. So maybe it's a pencil. And she's
- 5:17Speaker 1: wearing this cute little teal shirt and a necklace. So
- 5:22Speaker 1: these dinosaurs wear clothes. Oliver, I'm concerned you may have
- 5:28Speaker 1: difficulty seeing the boarding class. It might be a good
- 5:31Speaker 1: idea to visit an eye doctor, his teacher gently recommended.
- 5:36Speaker 1: And Oliver is looking up with her, and you can
- 5:38Speaker 1: see with his eyes that he absolutely adores his teacher.
- 5:43Speaker 1: And she's looking down at him with loving eyes. But
- 5:47Speaker 1: then Oliver's head starts sinking, and you see tears start
- 5:51Speaker 1: to well up in his eyes. Oliver's heart sank. No way!
- 5:56Speaker 1: The thought of being different or needing help scared him.
- 6:01Speaker 1: I've been there before. I want to show you something,
- 6:05Speaker 1: said his teacher. She pulled a book from a shelf
- 6:08Speaker 1: and began showing Oliver the great dinosaurs who needed glasses
- 6:12Speaker 1: before him. The great explorer Marco Megalosaurus, the famous artist
- 6:18Speaker 1: Vincent Benvaldosaurus, And even the wise Queen Elizabeth, or Kitu,
- 6:24Speaker 1: saw extraordinary things with the help of their glasses, his
- 6:27Speaker 1: teacher said. Now this is a fun thing. So the
- 6:31Speaker 1: teacher is standing by the bookcase, and the little bird
- 6:35Speaker 1: with the pink mohawk is reading a book. And on
- 6:38Speaker 1: the other page, there's a book that the teacher has
- 6:41Speaker 1: opened with pictures of Marco Megalosaurus. Vincent Van Valdisaurus and
- 6:48Speaker 1: Queen Elizabeth Arquitu, they're all dinosaurs. And they're wearing big glasses.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Oliver's eyes widened. He suddenly didn't feel quite so scared.
- 7:01Speaker 1: His eyes are really big on the page. He says,
- 7:05Speaker 1: you're right. I can be brave and visit the eye doctor,
- 7:08Speaker 1: shouted Oliver. So you see Oliver jumping up and down
- 7:12Speaker 1: with a big smile on his face. And even the
- 7:14Speaker 1: little bird is jumping. And the teacher is clapping. She's
- 7:19Speaker 1: so proud of him. Oliver ventured to the eye doctor's
- 7:23Speaker 1: office the very next day. You see Oliver climbing up
- 7:29Speaker 1: the rocks with his little bird friend all the way
- 7:33Speaker 1: to this yellow building. And there's a wooden sign hanging
- 7:37Speaker 1: outside that says eye doctor. The doctor in old triceratops
- 7:43Speaker 1: with glasses propped on his horn examined Oliver and declared,
- 7:46Speaker 1: My boy, you need glasses. So you see Oliver sitting
- 7:52Speaker 1: in the chair in the eye doctor's office in this
- 7:55Speaker 1: wise old triceratops with these glasses perched on the end
- 8:01Speaker 1: of his nose on his horn. And guess what? This
- 8:05Speaker 1: triceratops is also wearing shoes and a tie. So it's
- 8:10Speaker 1: very fun. Oliver said, that's why some things seem blurry.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Do you have glasses that I can wear? Do I
- 8:20Speaker 1: have glasses? I can show you a whole world of
- 8:24Speaker 1: glasses in all colors and sizes. Come with me, said
- 8:29Speaker 1: the doctor, and they entered a different room with hundreds
- 8:32Speaker 1: of glasses. So you see Oliver in the waiting room,
- 8:37Speaker 1: walking behind the triceratops doctor, And the triceratops doctor is
- 8:42Speaker 1: marching them into a different room. And hanging on the wall,
- 8:47Speaker 1: there are two signs. One has a dinosaur wearing sunglasses. Because,
- 8:52Speaker 1: you know, they need sunglasses too. And then a sign
- 8:55Speaker 1: that says, be kind. Which I think is very important.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Some were small. We're talking about the glasses. Some were big.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Some were square. Some were round. There were so many.
- 9:10Speaker 1: Many colors and patterns. And on this page, you see
- 9:14Speaker 1: all of these glasses in different sizes and colors and shapes.
- 9:19Speaker 1: There's some heart glasses and star glasses. And there are
- 9:24Speaker 1: glasses that look like they have wings and different colors
- 9:28Speaker 1: and polka dots. Oliver's head was spinning from all of
- 9:33Speaker 1: the choices. So he tries on one pair of glasses
- 9:37Speaker 1: and they're yellow and square. And the little bird is
- 9:40Speaker 1: holding a sign that says no. Then he tries on
- 9:44Speaker 1: some heart-shaped glasses. And the little bird is holding a
- 9:48Speaker 1: sign that says nope. And then he tries on a
- 9:52Speaker 1: little pair of black glasses. And the bird is holding
- 9:56Speaker 1: a sign flying towards him that says no way. He
- 10:00Speaker 1: tried on a lot of glasses until he finally settled
- 10:03Speaker 1: on the perfect pair. And the bird is delivering them
- 10:07Speaker 1: to him. She's flying the glasses to him. And they're
- 10:11Speaker 1: a pair of red glasses. So he tries them on.
- 10:15Speaker 1: And the bird is holding a sign that says, hmmm.
- 10:20Speaker 1: They were fun and bright and the doctor said he
- 10:23Speaker 1: looked outstanding. So you see him standing in front of
- 10:28Speaker 1: a case with all of the different glasses and he's
- 10:31Speaker 1: wearing his big red glasses and the bird is holding
- 10:35Speaker 1: a sign that says yes. And the triceratops doctor has
- 10:40Speaker 1: a big grin on his face and you can tell
- 10:43Speaker 1: that he approves of these glasses too. Oliver marched proudly
- 10:48Speaker 1: into class, wearing his brand new glasses the next day.
- 10:53Speaker 1: His friends were so happy that Oliver could now see
- 10:56Speaker 1: the teacher's pictures, words, and colors in bright detail. He
- 11:01Speaker 1: realized that needing glasses wasn't bad. It made him an original,
- 11:06Speaker 1: like so many great dinosaurs before him, and he was
- 11:10Speaker 1: proud of that. So you see him walking very proudly
- 11:13Speaker 1: back into the classroom with his little bird friend and
- 11:16Speaker 1: his teacher. And all of his friends, the brachiosaurus, stegosaurus, dryosaurus,
- 11:21Speaker 1: and hadrosaurus are all there waiting for him. And they're
- 11:25Speaker 1: all smiling because I think they're proud of him too.
- 11:30Speaker 1: That's at the end. So at the end of each
- 11:34Speaker 1: of these storybooks, there's a bird. And this is the
- 11:39Speaker 1: little purple bird with a pink mohawk. And it's standing
- 11:42Speaker 1: on a box. And it's saying that it's question time.
- 11:45Speaker 1: So there are always five questions. And I'm going to
- 11:48Speaker 1: ask you these questions. And you may have an answer
- 11:52Speaker 1: for them. And if you don't, maybe you want to
- 11:54Speaker 1: talk about it with a friend. The first question is,
- 11:58Speaker 1: who do you know that wears glasses? Do you know
- 12:02Speaker 1: someone that wears glasses? What ideas... can you share that
- 12:08Speaker 1: may help someone struggling to see something? Maybe you have
- 12:12Speaker 1: an idea. Maybe you could read something to them to
- 12:17Speaker 1: help them see something. Maybe you can use creative and
- 12:21Speaker 1: descriptive words to describe what something is. Why do some
- 12:26Speaker 1: people with vision loss use a white cane? Have you
- 12:31Speaker 1: seen them? Do you know someone who uses a cane?
- 12:35Speaker 1: How might someone read If they cannot see, I think
- 12:40Speaker 1: you have a really good answer for that one. If
- 12:44Speaker 1: you had a pair of glasses, what would they look like? Well,
- 12:48Speaker 1: that's interesting because on the back cover of this book
- 12:52Speaker 1: is a picture of me. And I have glasses drawn
- 12:57Speaker 1: on my face. So that's what I use. And I think,
- 13:02Speaker 1: and I'm wearing glasses right now. And they're clear. And
- 13:07Speaker 1: they're kind of big. And it helps me see a
- 13:11Speaker 1: lot better. So that's the end of that book. And
- 13:18Speaker 1: now let's see what we can read here. Maybe another book.
- 13:23Speaker 1: This one I really love. And this is called Alex,
- 13:28Speaker 1: the Awesome and Artsy Allosaurus. And so this one was
- 13:35Speaker 1: written by and illustrated by me. So I'm going to
- 13:38Speaker 1: be reading it to you. And the copyright is 2023
- 13:42Speaker 1: by Rainbow Sparrow Publishing. The front of the cover has
- 13:47Speaker 1: this orange dinosaur with blue kind of stripes on its back.
- 13:53Speaker 1: And he is wearing pants. This dinosaur is wearing yellow
- 13:57Speaker 1: pants with little red polka dots. And he's standing on
- 14:01Speaker 1: a big pile of rainbow colored paper. holding a green
- 14:05Speaker 1: piece of paper, and there's a little red bird friend
- 14:08Speaker 1: with a piece of paper in his mouth right beside him.
- 14:12Speaker 1: I guess that's his little bird buddy. And the special
- 14:17Speaker 1: message inside the heart at the very beginning says, Dear
- 14:20Speaker 1: brave friends, never let fear stand in your way of
- 14:24Speaker 1: being awesome. I think that's a really great message to
- 14:28Speaker 1: always remember. There once lived a family known for being
- 14:33Speaker 1: some of the most ferocious dinosaurs in all the land.
- 14:37Speaker 1: The Allosaurus family had big teeth, powerful arms, and sharp
- 14:44Speaker 1: claws that would scare even the bravest dinosaur. On this page,
- 14:49Speaker 1: you see a purple dinosaur going rawr, and a pink
- 14:55Speaker 1: dinosaur with yellow stripes going rawr. and a green dinosaur
- 15:01Speaker 1: that's showing his sharp teeth and his sharp claws. And boy,
- 15:06Speaker 1: they look sharp. And scared they did, all except for one.
- 15:14Speaker 1: His name was Alex, and he didn't want to scare
- 15:17Speaker 1: anyone at all. So you see, all of these dinosaurs,
- 15:21Speaker 1: the purple dinosaur, the pink dinosaur, And some of these
- 15:24Speaker 1: birds that are scared to death because these purple dinosaurs
- 15:28Speaker 1: are going rawr! And they're flying away. But on the
- 15:32Speaker 1: other page, you see Alex, the Allosaurus, standing there. And
- 15:37Speaker 1: all of the birds are very calm and happy around
- 15:41Speaker 1: him because he doesn't want to scare them. He likes
- 15:45Speaker 1: being their friend. His best friend, Hadley, the Hadrosaurus, noticed
- 15:50Speaker 1: Alex seemed to be worried about a lot of things.
- 15:54Speaker 1: He thinks, will my house be empty when I get home?
- 15:58Speaker 1: What if I don't want to scare anyone? And you
- 16:01Speaker 1: see Hadley the hadrosaurus standing there just watching Alex worry.
- 16:05Speaker 1: There's a jump rope on the ground and a little
- 16:09Speaker 1: toy house with a little toy dinosaur on the inside
- 16:12Speaker 1: and blocks. And here is Alex the allosaurus playing with
- 16:17Speaker 1: a little fidget toy sitting in the chair just with
- 16:21Speaker 1: a worried face. And the bird sitting on the back
- 16:24Speaker 1: of the chair looks like she is worried about her
- 16:28Speaker 1: dinosaur friend. So now he's laying in bed at night,
- 16:33Speaker 1: sleeping in his bed. And he's thinking, what if I
- 16:37Speaker 1: can't find food to eat? Because sometimes Alex worried at bedtime.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Sometimes his tummy hurt because he worried. And there's a
- 16:46Speaker 1: little bird friend giving his leg a hug. The bird
- 16:51Speaker 1: friend knows that his friend is really worried and trying
- 16:55Speaker 1: to comfort him. Hadley wanted to help her friend and
- 16:58Speaker 1: had a few tricks she had learned. They might work
- 17:01Speaker 1: for Alex too, she thought. So here's Hadley and she's
- 17:06Speaker 1: approaching Alex and the bird has a little question mark
- 17:10Speaker 1: flying over the head of Alex the Allosaurus. And he,
- 17:14Speaker 1: you can tell, still has the worried face on and
- 17:17Speaker 1: I think might be getting ready to cry. So she
- 17:22Speaker 1: goes over to him and says, imagine smelling yummy hot pizza.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Take a big smell and then blow on the pizza
- 17:32Speaker 1: to cool it down, said Hadley. Maybe you can do
- 17:36Speaker 1: that with me right now. Take a big smell and
- 17:40Speaker 1: then blow on the pizza to cool it down. There's
- 17:45Speaker 1: a picture of a pizza in a thought bubble and
- 17:48Speaker 1: you can tell it's hot. There's steam coming off of
- 17:51Speaker 1: the pizza. But Alex shouted, I don't like pizza. You
- 17:56Speaker 1: can tell he's frustrated and the little bird goes tweet
- 18:00Speaker 1: and starts flying away. Now, I love pizza, but Alex doesn't.
- 18:07Speaker 1: And Hadley says, OK, let's try something else. How about exercise?
- 18:11Speaker 1: Let's jump rope, replied Hadley. So you can see Hadley
- 18:16Speaker 1: bringing Alex a jump rope. And the little bird is
- 18:20Speaker 1: already jump roping at the bottom of the page. But
- 18:25Speaker 1: Alex is already thinking in a big thought bubble on
- 18:29Speaker 1: the other page and says, Hadley, have you seen my claws?
- 18:34Speaker 1: They will shred that rope to pieces, said Alex, frustrated.
- 18:40Speaker 1: And you see him trying to jump rope. And as
- 18:42Speaker 1: he's jumping, the rope is shredding. into a thousand pieces
- 18:47Speaker 1: because of his claws. So Hadley says, Shred? At that moment,
- 18:55Speaker 1: Hadley had a great idea. Alex, follow me home, shrieked Hadley.
- 19:02Speaker 1: And you can see Hadley on the other page and
- 19:05Speaker 1: she has a big grin on her face and the
- 19:07Speaker 1: bird is holding a sign that says this way and
- 19:11Speaker 1: is pointing for us to turn the page. And there's
- 19:14Speaker 1: a big light bulb. Because sometimes in images, if someone
- 19:20Speaker 1: has a thought or an idea, there's a light bulb.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Maybe you've seen that happen before too. The two dinosaurs
- 19:29Speaker 1: ran through trees, jumped over rocks, and into mud puddles.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Alex was so excited when they arrived at Hadley's house.
- 19:37Speaker 1: And you can see Alex and Hadley running. running through
- 19:40Speaker 1: all of these big pine trees and jumping over the
- 19:43Speaker 1: rocks and These mud puddles they have mud all over
- 19:48Speaker 1: their feet and have who happens to be wearing pink
- 19:53Speaker 1: little boots, her boots are covered in mud. And the
- 19:57Speaker 1: bird is flying and has mud dripping off its feet.
- 20:01Speaker 1: And there's a purple house there. I guess that's her
- 20:04Speaker 1: house with a wooden welcome sign on a rock. Hadley
- 20:10Speaker 1: said my mom gave me lots of paper in different
- 20:12Speaker 1: colors and I want to share with you. Thanks, but
- 20:17Speaker 1: what am I supposed to do with paper? Questioned Alex.
- 20:20Speaker 1: So it looks like they are inside Hadley's house now
- 20:24Speaker 1: and the room has wallpaper with purple stars all over
- 20:28Speaker 1: it and there's a sign that has a rainbow that
- 20:30Speaker 1: says be kind and a tall pile of rainbow paper.
- 20:38Speaker 1: And the bird is singing. Looks like the bird is
- 20:40Speaker 1: excited too. Use your claws and teeth to shred it.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Let's see what happens, smiled Hadley. Alex stepped closer to
- 20:49Speaker 1: the large pile of paper. I guess I could try,
- 20:52Speaker 1: Alex thought to himself. So he steps closer to the
- 20:56Speaker 1: green table and is looking at the big pile of paper.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Then you turn the page and it says rip, slice, tear, slash.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Paper flew everywhere. Alex's body and mind relaxed with every
- 21:13Speaker 1: shred he made. He soon found himself covered by a
- 21:17Speaker 1: thousand pieces of rainbow paper. So there's different colors of
- 21:23Speaker 1: paper all slashed into hundreds, thousands of pieces all over
- 21:28Speaker 1: the page. And the bird is flying. And then on
- 21:31Speaker 1: the other page, the bird has a little magnifying glass.
- 21:35Speaker 1: and is trying to find Alex because he is buried
- 21:39Speaker 1: in this pile of rainbow paper. You see his big
- 21:43Speaker 1: eyes poking out of the rainbow paper, and you see
- 21:46Speaker 1: his tail poking out of the pile of rainbow paper.
- 21:51Speaker 1: The bird's trying to find him. But I see his
- 21:54Speaker 1: eyes and his tail. Piece by piece, his worries faded
- 21:58Speaker 1: as he arranged the paper into beautiful pictures. Hadley stood
- 22:02Speaker 1: by his side and smiled proudly. Her friend had a
- 22:05Speaker 1: talent that not all dinosaurs had. Alex was an artist.
- 22:10Speaker 1: And he was awesome. So you see Alex standing at
- 22:16Speaker 1: the wall. And he is arranging these beautiful, colorful pieces
- 22:22Speaker 1: of paper that he just got through shredding. And he's
- 22:25Speaker 1: making them into a picture. And the bird is helping
- 22:29Speaker 1: out and flying and getting him a piece of paper.
- 22:33Speaker 1: And on the wall, he is starting to create this
- 22:37Speaker 1: beautiful collage of paper that shows his friend Hadley, the Hedrosaurus.
- 22:43Speaker 1: There's a purple flower. He's already created a vase, a
- 22:48Speaker 1: blue vase of pink flowers and an apple with a
- 22:52Speaker 1: green stem on the apple. And he's standing beside his
- 22:58Speaker 1: pile of paper that he shredded. And there's paper all
- 23:02Speaker 1: over the floor. It looks like that he not only
- 23:07Speaker 1: faded his worries, but he had a lot of fun.
- 23:12Speaker 1: And he's an artist, apparently. So at the last page,
- 23:16Speaker 1: he's smiling proudly at his paper collage. And the bird
- 23:20Speaker 1: is holding a sign with a heart. Looks like that
- 23:23Speaker 1: it's made out of a piece of paper. And so
- 23:26Speaker 1: the bird is standing on the pile of paper on
- 23:29Speaker 1: the next page, and that's question time. So that means
- 23:34Speaker 1: we have some questions before the end of this story. Now,
- 23:38Speaker 1: sometimes this is my favorite part. Now, the first question is,
- 23:43Speaker 1: who is someone with whom you can share your worries?
- 23:47Speaker 1: I think we all have worries. Some are little and
- 23:51Speaker 1: some are big. But I think it's important that we
- 23:54Speaker 1: share them with people so they can help us when
- 23:58Speaker 1: we need help. What are some of the things you
- 24:01Speaker 1: worry about? Some of the things I worry about, I
- 24:04Speaker 1: worry about like when I get sick or if my
- 24:08Speaker 1: family is sick. Sometimes I worry about work. Sometimes I
- 24:14Speaker 1: worry about the weather. Where can you go to calm
- 24:18Speaker 1: your worries? Is there a quiet place that you go?
- 24:23Speaker 1: Is it your bedroom maybe? Sometimes it's in the arms
- 24:27Speaker 1: of someone, like your mom or your dad or your
- 24:30Speaker 1: grandparents or maybe a friend. When you worry, is there
- 24:35Speaker 1: something you do to calm your mind? I love thinking
- 24:42Speaker 1: about my favorite place on earth. And sometimes when I'm
- 24:47Speaker 1: really worried, I close my eyes. And I listen to
- 24:51Speaker 1: my breath. Sometimes I count to ten. And sometimes I
- 24:56Speaker 1: think about my favorite place like the beach. And I
- 25:00Speaker 1: think about all of the amazing things at the beach.
- 25:04Speaker 1: And all of the sounds at the beach that relax
- 25:07Speaker 1: my mind. Like the seagulls and the water. The waves
- 25:13Speaker 1: crashing on the beach. And I feel the sand on
- 25:16Speaker 1: my toes. And that relaxes me. Why is it important
- 25:22Speaker 1: to share your feelings? Well, we all have feelings and
- 25:26Speaker 1: I think it's important to share your feelings because that's
- 25:30Speaker 1: how we learn about ourselves and it's how we learn
- 25:33Speaker 1: about others. How can you comfort someone that is worrying?
- 25:39Speaker 1: I think this is a big one because since we
- 25:43Speaker 1: all worry, we need to be a good friend. We
- 25:46Speaker 1: need to be a good sister and brother and So
- 25:51Speaker 1: sometimes you can ask them if they need a hug
- 25:54Speaker 1: because hugs feel great, but some people don't like hugs.
- 25:59Speaker 1: So sometimes you can just sit beside someone because maybe
- 26:04Speaker 1: that person just needs to know that they're not alone.
- 26:08Speaker 1: And sometimes that will help. And sometimes just listening. Sometimes
- 26:13Speaker 1: if you listen to someone, share their worries, they know
- 26:17Speaker 1: that someone cares. And I think that is really important.
- 26:23Speaker 1: And on the back cover, you have the big piles
- 26:26Speaker 1: of paper and it says, free your mind and let
- 26:29Speaker 1: your worries go. So thank you so much. This concludes
- 26:34Speaker 1: this book and stay tuned because my husband Cameron is
- 26:40Speaker 1: going to be reading another great book.
