- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: All Right, guys, welcome to part two with Hannah Brown
- 0:10Speaker 2: talking about her new book, Bachelorrett Home Improvements. The other
- 0:13Speaker 2: thing that was like a little serious that I did
- 0:15Speaker 2: want to talk to you about that I'm like sad
- 0:17Speaker 2: for you and you should never feel this way is
- 0:19Speaker 2: that you post it on Instagram about like not feeling
- 0:22Speaker 2: like you're putting yourself out there because you don't like yourself.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Yeah, but why don't you like yourself because you're so wonderful.
- 0:29Speaker 4: Thank you so much. I think I've always had bouts
- 0:34Speaker 4: of struggling with my mental health, and I'm very open
- 0:36Speaker 4: about that. But I think sometimes I don't feel like
- 0:41Speaker 4: I'm living in the fullness of my potential and I
- 0:46Speaker 4: can get really bogged down by my anxiety, Okay, And
- 0:49Speaker 4: I think that's what I meant of, Like, ugh, I
- 0:54Speaker 4: my anxiety sometimes takes over my life and I can't
- 0:59Speaker 4: And I don't like that version of myself that is
- 1:01Speaker 4: not not even grateful, but like doesn't see the fullness
- 1:09Speaker 4: of opportunities that she has, the wonderful parts of my
- 1:13Speaker 4: life because I'm on this loop in my head to
- 1:17Speaker 4: where I don't get stuff done, I'm not being as
- 1:22Speaker 4: intentional and available for the people around me, and that's
- 1:26Speaker 4: and then I also don't know how to show up
- 1:27Speaker 4: on social media because I'm just kind of like in
- 1:29Speaker 4: this loop when I have so much, like I do,
- 1:33Speaker 4: I'm so grateful, and so I don't like when that happens,
- 1:39Speaker 4: and it feels hard, as you know, like social media
- 1:41Speaker 4: can be really hard, and you don't want to be
- 1:43Speaker 4: like always on there crying or talking about how bad
- 1:48Speaker 4: life sucks right now, because you know everybody is going
- 1:51Speaker 4: through something. But I also don't want to be fake
- 1:55Speaker 4: and pretend like life is like perfect all the time,
- 1:57Speaker 4: because that's not true either. And so then I just
- 2:00Speaker 4: show a little bit of that and then like isolate
- 2:02Speaker 4: and I'm like that's not good either, And I don't
- 2:04Speaker 4: know how to do this.
- 2:06Speaker 3: How did your team? I will?
- 2:07Speaker 2: I can relate in some ways, for sure, Yeah, because
- 2:10Speaker 2: the social media is such like a dance and it
- 2:13Speaker 2: gets you. You're thinking about your numbers and yeah, people
- 2:18Speaker 2: are responding to this and it's like it's so privileged
- 2:21Speaker 2: but dumb at the same time. Yeah, it's and it's
- 2:25Speaker 2: hard when people will also be little to the job
- 2:27Speaker 2: and yeah, you're just like no, no, you have to understand,
- 2:30Speaker 2: like it's.
- 2:30Speaker 4: So it's like stressful, and especially when you have things
- 2:33Speaker 4: that you're really passionate about and want to get out
- 2:36Speaker 4: and then you have to like juggle like showing yourself
- 2:40Speaker 4: and it can't just be like promoting my book or
- 2:42Speaker 4: promote like it. Then it's like I need to show
- 2:45Speaker 4: my life with Adam and what's going on. It's the
- 2:49Speaker 4: juggle of it all, and especially I think coming from
- 2:52Speaker 4: the Bachelor, Yeah, people care so much about like the
- 2:57Speaker 4: their nosey, which yeah, because we allowed people into our lives.
- 3:01Speaker 4: But it can be really hard when you're like, I'm
- 3:05Speaker 4: not feeling my best, but I know for my numbers
- 3:08Speaker 4: or for people to see my stuff, I need to
- 3:10Speaker 4: share more about what's going on. But I don't like
- 3:12Speaker 4: what's going on in my life, so I don't want
- 3:13Speaker 4: to share that. I just want people to support what
- 3:17Speaker 4: I'm doing and to love me without me having a
- 3:21Speaker 4: mental breakdown on social media. But then that's when.
- 3:24Speaker 2: People are I was going to say, your numbers are
- 3:27Speaker 2: probably the highest when you posta that it's a story, yes,
- 3:30Speaker 2: and it was crazy definitely like seeing now your inner brain.
- 3:36Speaker 4: I know, but it can feel so vulnerable. And I'm
- 3:39Speaker 4: all about vulnerability. I think it's great, but I also
- 3:42Speaker 4: think that it can be really hard because it's like
- 3:45Speaker 4: a parasocial world afe that we also need to do
- 3:49Speaker 4: our own work, not just for the camera to see.
- 3:52Speaker 4: So I don't think always sharing when I'm having, you know,
- 3:59Speaker 4: and in a hard week in our marriage or I'm
- 4:03Speaker 4: having a really hard like, I don't need to feel
- 4:06Speaker 4: like I have to share that. But it is connecting
- 4:09Speaker 4: and it's like really having to you know.
- 4:12Speaker 2: What, especially with like the hard week and your marriage thing.
- 4:15Speaker 2: That's interesting because I think that, yeah, people would like
- 4:18Speaker 2: to see it. What I think bothers us is that
- 4:21Speaker 2: and this is what we're told producers, and sorry guys
- 4:24Speaker 2: if you don't like this, but we are prepping yeah
- 4:27Speaker 2: things right.
- 4:28Speaker 3: And we're like, we would love to show, you know.
- 4:33Speaker 2: Like how we juggle having two kids and these businesses
- 4:36Speaker 2: and blah blah blah, and were like, but the thing
- 4:39Speaker 2: that's stressful about that is because we are willing to
- 4:41Speaker 2: open up about like the lack of quality time and
- 4:44Speaker 2: stuff that we have and the fact that like we
- 4:48Speaker 2: have yeah, basically barely any time.
- 4:50Speaker 3: It's the two of us.
- 4:52Speaker 2: But what we don't want is the people to get
- 4:54Speaker 2: the idea that there's like big problems, because there's not.
- 4:58Speaker 2: We want to show little problems, yes, because that's relatable,
- 5:01Speaker 2: but you also don't want people to assume there's big
- 5:03Speaker 2: problems because you're being honest about little ones.
- 5:07Speaker 4: Yes, yes, it's that. Or it's just like if there
- 5:13Speaker 4: is worry or there's upset or tension, the people like, uh,
- 5:17Speaker 4: well they're over, and it's like, no, we're just actually
- 5:21Speaker 4: having a normal relationship where there are things that you
- 5:25Speaker 4: have to work through, communicate through, and it doesn't just
- 5:27Speaker 4: like resolves sometimes it takes a little bit of time.
- 5:30Speaker 4: It takes you know, counsel, Like there's so many things
- 5:33Speaker 4: and that doesn't mean like our relationship is crazy. It's
- 5:36Speaker 4: just a real genuine relationship that has ups and downs.
- 5:41Speaker 4: But it can be so hard to share it because
- 5:43Speaker 4: then people have so much to say and take one
- 5:45Speaker 4: little moment and then decide that they know that what
- 5:50Speaker 4: the relationships like behind closed doors in your house and
- 5:52Speaker 4: you're miserable. It's like no, no, no, that's I think
- 5:57Speaker 4: that's why like a housewives or something is kind of
- 6:00Speaker 4: scary because of yeah.
- 6:03Speaker 2: You're like, oh, if I'm being honest, which I'd love
- 6:05Speaker 2: to show this and be honest and like have people
- 6:07Speaker 2: out there and be like, oh my gosh, this is us. Yeah,
- 6:09Speaker 2: but it's also you know that's gonna come with Oh
- 6:12Speaker 2: but this I give them two years or something like that.
- 6:16Speaker 4: Yeah, it's really hard. Yeah, I I feel like you'll
- 6:20Speaker 4: have done a great job. And I also really appreciate
- 6:22Speaker 4: you being so open on the show about like him
- 6:25Speaker 4: doing his thing, you doing your thing. Like it was
- 6:27Speaker 4: just so refreshing as someone who kind of can under
- 6:31Speaker 4: understand No, you you are.
- 6:33Speaker 3: You were just in it.
- 6:35Speaker 4: You know, there was a lot there was a lot
- 6:37Speaker 4: more problems going on.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I know. That's what I said.
- 6:40Speaker 2: I deliverducers just like guys like, I'm good being you
- 6:44Speaker 2: know the y'all that's not confronational. But I was like
- 6:46Speaker 2: the last three episodes, I think I may have thirty
- 6:49Speaker 2: seconds in each episode. Yeah, but they're like, they're like,
- 6:52Speaker 2: it's okay, that's an ensemble cast and we we have.
- 6:56Speaker 3: To show the storylines that are being insane.
- 6:58Speaker 4: Yes. Yeah, yeah, they brought a lot.
- 7:00Speaker 2: It got a lot so much and I was like, yeah,
- 7:02Speaker 2: and I found it to be very compelling as long
- 7:03Speaker 2: as you don't think that it's a problem for me.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, so I completely understand.
- 7:09Speaker 2: It's just I when I saw that you were complaining,
- 7:13Speaker 2: you know, not complaining, but you were like emotional about
- 7:15Speaker 2: the social media stuff, I'm like, I get I it
- 7:18Speaker 2: feels weird because it's like such a specific group.
- 7:21Speaker 3: It's not like having.
- 7:23Speaker 2: I don't know, a waitress job or like, what's a
- 7:26Speaker 2: job that like you feel like people can usually like
- 7:29Speaker 2: relate to.
- 7:31Speaker 4: I mean, any other job than what wait do, Cause
- 7:35Speaker 4: it's not that's not true, but like it is such
- 7:38Speaker 4: a weird joby and cool. There's times so cool, so great.
- 7:43Speaker 2: No, I'm blessed and grateful for it every day and
- 7:44Speaker 2: I have so much fun with it. But it's also
- 7:46Speaker 2: like there it's like there's like a science to it,
- 7:49Speaker 2: and you're always trying to crack the algorithm, and then.
- 7:51Speaker 4: When it doesn't happen, you're like yeah.
- 7:54Speaker 2: And you're like, oh, okay, so bebe myself isn't cracking
- 7:58Speaker 2: the algorithm and me doing I can't put too much
- 8:03Speaker 2: on because then it's going to like bring everything down.
- 8:06Speaker 2: But I want to talk about this or this is timely,
- 8:07Speaker 2: but it doesn't make so frustrating and sometimes my best
- 8:10Speaker 2: work like I think it's funny and it's so me,
- 8:13Speaker 2: but then like the algorithm is like it won't show
- 8:16Speaker 2: it to my audience because it just doesn't fit for
- 8:18Speaker 2: some reason.
- 8:19Speaker 4: Promoting my book for example, like that it can be
- 8:22Speaker 4: so tough because it's what I'm so excited about. It's
- 8:25Speaker 4: where I'm at in my life right now. But even
- 8:28Speaker 4: just like like a linking something that.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Linking it it's a thing, it's such a hey, can
- 8:36Speaker 2: you post this and link this? Like I would like to,
- 8:39Speaker 2: but I have to find where I can place that work.
- 8:42Speaker 4: So where people are going to see it, exactly because I.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Want people to see it.
- 8:46Speaker 2: A lot of times, like when if it's charity or something,
- 8:48Speaker 2: it's like, Okay, I have to place this in the
- 8:49Speaker 2: right spot because I really do want people to see this.
- 8:52Speaker 4: It's not that you don't want to post, it's that
- 8:54Speaker 4: you actually want people to see it. Yeah, and you
- 8:58Speaker 4: are excited about posting whatever whatever it is. Like if
- 9:01Speaker 4: I'm posting, I want to share, but that this algorithm
- 9:05Speaker 4: or whatever it is, you're like, I don't know, Like
- 9:08Speaker 4: it's funny, people still be like I didn't know you
- 9:10Speaker 4: wrote books. I'm like this, this is my third romance.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Not.
- 9:16Speaker 3: It's your third. So it has been three consecutive years.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Yes, that's summer romances coming out.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yeah, let's get into that right now. Where is this
- 9:27Speaker 2: completely different than the past two? This is a new
- 9:30Speaker 2: plot line.
- 9:31Speaker 4: It is a new plot line, but it's not a series.
- 9:34Speaker 4: But it's in the same universe. So universe the core
- 9:40Speaker 4: four is like this best friend group four.
- 9:43Speaker 2: So there's another There's gotta be another book. Yes, yes,
- 9:46Speaker 2: this is like campus edition. Yes, I love that. Well,
- 9:51Speaker 2: I'll take that comparison.
- 9:54Speaker 4: Where's that on Prime? Call me? I watched like when,
- 10:00Speaker 4: so I haven't really had time to get into it.
- 10:01Speaker 3: But yeah, yeah.
- 10:04Speaker 4: So this book is following Nikki, who is the most
- 10:10Speaker 4: similar to like my personal experiences. Yes, so she is
- 10:14Speaker 4: a former pageant queen turned reality TV star who has
- 10:18Speaker 4: a public heartbreak and decides to she needs to kind
- 10:24Speaker 4: of like go back home to the South the reset
- 10:26Speaker 4: after fame and figure out what she's going to do
- 10:29Speaker 4: with the rest of her life. So she goes back
- 10:30Speaker 4: home for the summer for then her brother to also
- 10:34Speaker 4: come back to the family lake house for the summer
- 10:38Speaker 4: and he is engaged to her ex fiance's ex.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Oh this sounds really.
- 10:46Speaker 4: And plan to get married over the.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Okay, So this is almost all of biographical.
- 10:53Speaker 4: There are there are parts that are very similar, but
- 10:56Speaker 4: it really is a true love story, and not only
- 11:00Speaker 4: for Nicki and her romantic relationship that she finds with
- 11:04Speaker 4: a very unexpected man, but also for the family it is.
- 11:12Speaker 4: It's a really sweet story about like coming back as
- 11:16Speaker 4: an adult, how do you fit in to your family?
- 11:20Speaker 4: How are you going to create different connections when there
- 11:24Speaker 4: is hurt there there's you're realizing, Oh, some of the
- 11:28Speaker 4: ways that I have all this trauma is maybe because
- 11:30Speaker 4: of the way I have this relationship with my mom.
- 11:32Speaker 4: But I love my mom and she's the best and
- 11:34Speaker 4: how and like Niki goes through that. So there's a
- 11:37Speaker 4: lot of different things that I feel like Nicki is
- 11:40Speaker 4: kind of working through in this summer and the whole
- 11:43Speaker 4: family together, and so it's a really healing, heartfelt book
- 11:47Speaker 4: and it is definitely a little bit of a tear jerker,
- 11:49Speaker 4: but I think in the best way, it still like
- 11:53Speaker 4: truly has this happy ever after, but there's a lot
- 11:55Speaker 4: of drama and chaos in it. As you can tell
- 11:58Speaker 4: from the all the family drama going on, Yeah that
- 12:03Speaker 4: I maybe here may not have lived. They definitely have.
- 12:07Speaker 2: The drama that you are maybe referring to is the
- 12:09Speaker 2: fact that your brother married the ex that Jed sort
- 12:14Speaker 2: of was datating on the show that this is the weirdest.
- 12:19Speaker 2: So what's how in the book can you tease is
- 12:25Speaker 2: the status between Nikki and this girl.
- 12:28Speaker 4: They definitely have this tension between them, but I feel
- 12:33Speaker 4: like it's more. When I was writing it, I was
- 12:37Speaker 4: thinking of like Bridesmaids, that tension where it's like they're
- 12:41Speaker 4: kind of like poking at each other the movie bride Wars, Okay,
- 12:48Speaker 4: also a great movie, Yes, but you know that like tension,
- 12:50Speaker 4: like kind of poking, but also bries Maids. Yeah, a
- 12:54Speaker 4: little bit of that type of tension. Like it's fun.
- 12:57Speaker 4: This is not like one person's a villain. Other person's
- 13:00Speaker 4: been hurt like Kara. She is this other like strong
- 13:06Speaker 4: woman who has also been wronged by another man and
- 13:11Speaker 4: is looking for happiness and there is still this twin
- 13:14Speaker 4: tension between her and Nikki and they have to figure
- 13:17Speaker 4: it out throughout the summer. And yeah, all right, and
- 13:21Speaker 4: and yeah, I would say different, I wrote, I wrote
- 13:27Speaker 4: it different than how it played out in my own life.
- 13:29Speaker 4: But I meant, we're in such a great place. Like,
- 13:32Speaker 4: I love my family, I'm obsessed with my niece. I'm
- 13:36Speaker 4: so thankful for the relationship my brother has found. Yeah,
- 13:41Speaker 4: because he is like the best version of himself.
- 13:45Speaker 3: That's so wonderful. Like what a very strange twist of
- 13:49Speaker 3: life like that is.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Truly, it's super weird.
- 13:53Speaker 3: But it was like meant to be.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Yeah, it was hard for me to but like now,
- 13:59Speaker 4: like at first, it was so hard, and I'm very
- 14:01Speaker 4: honest about that. It was so tough. I did not
- 14:04Speaker 4: understand it. There was a lot of tension, and I
- 14:07Speaker 4: really didn't talk about it. So it was cool to
- 14:10Speaker 4: be able to in a way like this. Reasons to
- 14:13Speaker 4: Be Loved by You is kind of my way of
- 14:17Speaker 4: bringing that story into the world in a really sweet, beautiful,
- 14:23Speaker 4: redemptive way and like a true happily ever after that
- 14:26Speaker 4: is reflective in my own life too.
- 14:28Speaker 3: I love it. That's so great. Was this the most
- 14:31Speaker 3: fun to write?
- 14:32Speaker 4: It kind of was, and I think because obviously I
- 14:36Speaker 4: know the characters so well in a way, but it
- 14:40Speaker 4: wouldn't have been as fun if I had started that
- 14:42Speaker 4: as my first romance Almos, because a lot of people
- 14:44Speaker 4: ask like, why was this not the first one? And
- 14:47Speaker 4: I really wanted to prove myself as a writer with
- 14:50Speaker 4: Emma and simple Story, who yes, are a part of me,
- 14:53Speaker 4: but they have their own journey that I've not experienced myself.
- 14:58Speaker 4: And so in that, I also think the timing of
- 15:03Speaker 4: this book coming into fruition and out into the world, like,
- 15:06Speaker 4: like I said, I have a niece now, my brother's
- 15:09Speaker 4: been married for years. Our family is so tight knit,
- 15:12Speaker 4: and I could come from it from a place that
- 15:14Speaker 4: was truly fun and there was no like people are like, oh,
- 15:19Speaker 4: is it cathartic. It wasn't really cathartic, Like I know
- 15:22Speaker 4: where I'm at now, like I've we have had all
- 15:25Speaker 4: the hard conversations. I have done the work that I
- 15:28Speaker 4: needed to do to truly be like, oh my gosh,
- 15:30Speaker 4: I love my family. I won't change it for the world.
- 15:32Speaker 4: And so yeah, it was really fun.
- 15:34Speaker 3: So great.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Yeah, what is it like sitting down and having just
- 15:39Speaker 2: the goal of writing a full novel. I know that
- 15:42Speaker 2: you know you have a lot of help, but just see,
- 15:47Speaker 2: it's a lot so daunting being like I got to
- 15:49Speaker 2: tell a story that takes up two hundred pages.
- 15:51Speaker 4: It's it's a lot, and I'm so thankful for my
- 15:54Speaker 4: team who continues to encourage me, support my ideas and
- 15:59Speaker 4: on to help it get it to the finish line,
- 16:01Speaker 4: because yeah, it is a daunting process, and especially the
- 16:04Speaker 4: way like publishing works now, where it's like, you know,
- 16:06Speaker 4: I'm so thankful that I've been able to have all
- 16:09Speaker 4: these ideas that I had from the beginning. They're going
- 16:12Speaker 4: to make their way into reader's hands. But it's a lot,
- 16:16Speaker 4: Like I'm working on my next book while I'm promoting
- 16:20Speaker 4: Reasons to Be Loved by You. It's just this constant
- 16:22Speaker 4: thing and I am a little adhd and so like
- 16:27Speaker 4: sitting down and getting it done is very hard. But
- 16:32Speaker 4: that's why, like I know what I need, and I'm
- 16:35Speaker 4: so glad for the support that i have, and I'm
- 16:38Speaker 4: really proud of what I've brought into the world so far.
- 16:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm so happy for you. These are so awesome.
- 16:56Speaker 2: So you talk about there's some references to your parents
- 16:59Speaker 2: and the book, and right now you might be like
- 17:02Speaker 2: living with your parents, because first you said that you
- 17:05Speaker 2: were going to be moving to Alabama during the renovations
- 17:07Speaker 2: of your.
- 17:08Speaker 4: I haven't yet, okay, because I just keep putting it all. No,
- 17:13Speaker 4: like we are we were like, we feel like such
- 17:15Speaker 4: mutures right now. But we just thankfully have a lot
- 17:19Speaker 4: of friends that have gone like European excursions, and so
- 17:22Speaker 4: we've been just like, oh, well, house will take care
- 17:24Speaker 4: of your blind cat and your dog and whatever, just
- 17:26Speaker 4: like let us stay somewhere. So that's what's been happening.
- 17:29Speaker 3: Okay.
- 17:30Speaker 4: I think we're about summers, you know, well, I think
- 17:33Speaker 4: we got one more month and then I'll be with
- 17:35Speaker 4: my parents. This is a seventh month renovation.
- 17:37Speaker 3: Seven months. Oh my gosh. I thought you were gonna
- 17:39Speaker 3: say it was gonna be done at the end of
- 17:40Speaker 3: the summer.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Oh no, you've got it.
- 17:43Speaker 2: You're gutting it. And I know that a lot of
- 17:44Speaker 2: people on Instagram like the retro vibe.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Yeah, and there I loved it too.
- 17:50Speaker 3: I have a cozy retro.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Vibe too, and I kind of, you know, I don't
- 17:53Speaker 2: know why, let me go off of my own tangent now. Yeah,
- 17:57Speaker 2: but it's like I kind of like the old house
- 17:59Speaker 2: with character character bones.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Yes, and then I need like I.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Need an upgraded kitchen and I'm going to need the
- 18:04Speaker 2: upgraded bathrooms.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Yes, I need need need quote quote actually.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Yeah, But what I'm saying is that, like I do
- 18:11Speaker 2: like the character bones, but there's some things that you
- 18:13Speaker 2: wanted to like kind of look old but like actually.
- 18:15Speaker 3: Be new totally.
- 18:17Speaker 4: And so I will say I think white people are
- 18:19Speaker 4: upset is our house was already renovated when we got it.
- 18:22Speaker 4: We're just renovating it the way I want it. So
- 18:29Speaker 4: it is like people are like, what what do you mean?
- 18:31Speaker 4: And we are like painting the brick, and people are
- 18:34Speaker 4: really upset about that because when she like paint brick,
- 18:36Speaker 4: this is old brick. But also my soapbox on that
- 18:39Speaker 4: is when it was in the home, originally it was
- 18:41Speaker 4: like drywalled over you could see just a little bit
- 18:43Speaker 4: of it. Wasn't this exposed brick. That's more like this,
- 18:46Speaker 4: I want to say farmhouse style, but like that's not
- 18:49Speaker 4: my style. So that's not originally how it was in
- 18:53Speaker 4: the So why did you buy the house? Because I
- 18:58Speaker 4: knew I had a vision and this is it's going
- 19:00Speaker 4: to happen with it. And also, to be quite honest,
- 19:03Speaker 4: I thought when I was going to move back to Nashville,
- 19:05Speaker 4: I was gonna be like I'm going to be in
- 19:06Speaker 4: a my good mansion come from Santa Monica, you know,
- 19:09Speaker 4: like yeah, and this is our first home. And I
- 19:13Speaker 4: had like some things I thought I wanted, which I
- 19:16Speaker 4: still do, but.
- 19:17Speaker 3: I wanted it changes every day, so.
- 19:20Speaker 4: But I thought I wanted a charming historic home, but
- 19:22Speaker 4: also like, oh my gosh, it's they're really unique, Okay,
- 19:28Speaker 4: that would we just don't get all the things that
- 19:30Speaker 4: you would get in a new build of Like I mean,
- 19:34Speaker 4: we have there's ceilings in our house that are like
- 19:37Speaker 4: so kitch that there's it's only like three feet off
- 19:39Speaker 4: the ground, and so you're like you're getting hit and
- 19:42Speaker 4: you know, it's hard.
- 19:42Speaker 2: You never know what you want. That's why my advice
- 19:45Speaker 2: to people who haven't had a kid yet. And this
- 19:48Speaker 2: may not apply to you because you're obviously doing a
- 19:51Speaker 2: house that you plan on being a baby, But don't
- 19:53Speaker 2: rush into getting a place that you think needs to
- 19:56Speaker 2: be like big enough or appropriate enough with the baby,
- 19:58Speaker 2: because like the baby can stay happy anywhere for quite sometimes.
- 20:02Speaker 4: That's what that's what this house is our first home,
- 20:04Speaker 4: and like it's if you are upset, they're like you're
- 20:08Speaker 4: putting the baby in like the closet room if you
- 20:09Speaker 4: have a baby. I'm like, yeah, they're gonna be fine.
- 20:12Speaker 3: Full discretion.
- 20:13Speaker 2: My child right now is sleeping in my glamor room
- 20:15Speaker 2: guest room because this yeah, that's you know, that's where
- 20:19Speaker 2: he sleeps skies because I need a guest room and
- 20:22Speaker 2: I also need a space for my vanity and his Fine,
- 20:27Speaker 2: they're just not the ages right now where Dawson as
- 20:29Speaker 2: a four year old, he's not gonna have the same
- 20:31Speaker 2: bedtime routine, yes as the two year old.
- 20:35Speaker 4: Yeah, So this house for us, we're like, you know,
- 20:38Speaker 4: we're doing all these renovations, so you know, you have
- 20:40Speaker 4: to think, like how much am I spending with all
- 20:42Speaker 4: the things. So for us, this is like a five
- 20:44Speaker 4: to seven year home.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Okay, that's great, that's what we thought. This is gonna
- 20:47Speaker 3: be a five Yeah.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Yeah, and I feel really excited about But I'm also
- 20:52Speaker 4: someone who like, my environment is so crucial to me,
- 20:57Speaker 4: and I'm the same person, and I can't. I couldn't
- 21:01Speaker 4: look at it the way it was because it wasn't me.
- 21:03Speaker 4: It wasn't me the same and so Adam just had
- 21:07Speaker 4: to let it go. He's like, I'm literally completely fine
- 21:09Speaker 4: with the way it is now, but if you need
- 21:11Speaker 4: to do all the things you need to do, then
- 21:13Speaker 4: like okay, and we did it, and now our house
- 21:16Speaker 4: is gutted and we're gonna be with my parents.
- 21:20Speaker 2: So so it's my way in my way and my parents.
- 21:23Speaker 3: Yeah. Same over here.
- 21:27Speaker 1: It was.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Yeah, when Jared tries to like put up something on
- 21:31Speaker 2: the wall, you know, really it's a bad thing. It's
- 21:34Speaker 2: the only thing that we actually get fiery over with
- 21:37Speaker 2: each other is he's like, it's if it's supposed to
- 21:40Speaker 2: be my man cave, I can put it up, and
- 21:43Speaker 2: it's the way that I like it.
- 21:45Speaker 3: And I go, but you didn't center on the wall,
- 21:47Speaker 3: and it's just like why.
- 21:49Speaker 4: It's just I can't wait for you to see Adam's
- 21:52Speaker 4: Like Adam was his office was in a completely floral room,
- 21:56Speaker 4: and I was like, that's fine, you're good.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Yeah it's pretty.
- 22:01Speaker 4: And so we've switched. That's now gonna be mine. But
- 22:03Speaker 4: even his new office.
- 22:05Speaker 3: You're still gonna be the one decorating he decorated. He
- 22:07Speaker 3: was like, have to decorate.
- 22:09Speaker 4: I don't like I don't like that print of pillows
- 22:12Speaker 4: like an animal. It's not even animal print, but he
- 22:13Speaker 4: calls animal print and I'm like, okay, well, when you
- 22:16Speaker 4: take a call, you can throw it, but we're this
- 22:19Speaker 4: pillow's happening.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Okay, it has to. I don't know.
- 22:21Speaker 2: There's something in my personality that if he was like,
- 22:24Speaker 2: can you please do it for me, and we've he's
- 22:26Speaker 2: tested me like this before, like just let me put
- 22:28Speaker 2: this one thing.
- 22:29Speaker 4: Up, I don't think I could.
- 22:30Speaker 3: And I'm like, I just don't think you understand. There's
- 22:32Speaker 3: something that goes through me and there's like it's this feeling.
- 22:34Speaker 3: It's just I can't even describe it, but it's so bad.
- 22:37Speaker 4: Oh, I will say I think Adam knows, like he
- 22:40Speaker 4: cannot wait, like he can see the difference in environment
- 22:46Speaker 4: makes for me for me. So I think he's gotten
- 22:48Speaker 4: to the point of like truly like whatever will make
- 22:52Speaker 4: you happy, because it's not worth you being so hyper
- 22:57Speaker 4: fixated on whatever it is. And I can't think of
- 23:00Speaker 4: anything either, So he's actually like whatever you think, that's nice,
- 23:06Speaker 4: which has been nice for the most part.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:09Speaker 4: I would say we had at one point in the
- 23:12Speaker 4: plans to have like these little parcels that had pink
- 23:14Speaker 4: fabric on him, and he was like, I really don't
- 23:17Speaker 4: want our kitchen to have pink like yeah, and I went, okay,
- 23:20Speaker 4: fair honestly fair. Yeah, we can do blue. Yeah, I
- 23:23Speaker 4: like blue, You like blue.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Jared only wants to decorate in blue. He wants the
- 23:27Speaker 2: whole house moving.
- 23:28Speaker 4: Maybe. Yeah. Adam's favorite colors navy, which we're getting quite
- 23:31Speaker 4: a bit of navy, but he he loves navy except thee'll.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Walk in our bedroom.
- 23:35Speaker 2: I did choose navy because I'm really into dark academia,
- 23:38Speaker 2: like that, like yeah, in the old dark, and so
- 23:41Speaker 2: I did that for our bedroom and he likes that.
- 23:44Speaker 3: So I'm like, that's good.
- 23:45Speaker 2: But I'm just letting you know, like we're not gonna
- 23:47Speaker 2: go over like one room's blue, yeah, and then the
- 23:49Speaker 2: other one will be this in the my future house
- 23:52Speaker 2: that's super colonial and dark.
- 23:54Speaker 4: Okay, I love that. So mine it's more like one
- 23:58Speaker 4: of our rooms is going to be the green blues.
- 24:02Speaker 4: Green and blue is kind of a more not pastel muted. Yeah.
- 24:08Speaker 4: People people think when I say light means pastel. No,
- 24:11Speaker 4: just like a muted version of everything. Yeah, that's what
- 24:14Speaker 4: I like.
- 24:15Speaker 3: You have an interior design.
- 24:17Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, I mean very short lived because then I
- 24:20Speaker 4: went on Reality TV and then just kind of like
- 24:22Speaker 4: put that away, which I would this. This is really
- 24:26Speaker 4: exciting for me to do this home. Of course, I
- 24:28Speaker 4: picked a very complicated home that I've like, I can't
- 24:31Speaker 4: do this because everything in our house is weird. But
- 24:35Speaker 4: one day I hope to do my house all my own.
- 24:38Speaker 4: But it's been fun to get into all the like
- 24:42Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, I actually know way more about this
- 24:43Speaker 4: than I even thought or remembered. It's been so long,
- 24:47Speaker 4: so I am very particular about things and how they
- 24:50Speaker 4: how they look. And unfortunately I have a very expensive taste,
- 24:53Speaker 4: so I've had to like moren that sometimes more in it. Yeah,
- 24:58Speaker 4: but there are certain things that I'm like, very adamant on.
- 25:02Speaker 4: I was like, though, before I had kids, I know,
- 25:05Speaker 4: and I'm scared.
- 25:06Speaker 2: And it was so weird because all I could think
- 25:09Speaker 2: about between marriage and having kids was like, what's our
- 25:13Speaker 2: future house going to look like?
- 25:15Speaker 3: I wanted to like all I thought about in my
- 25:17Speaker 3: free time.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Yeah, and then I had Dawson and I was like,
- 25:21Speaker 2: I don't give a crap, just give me a functioning house.
- 25:24Speaker 4: No, I'm a little scared.
- 25:26Speaker 3: And then the fact that.
- 25:27Speaker 2: You can constantly you can't have cleanliness everywhere. There's something
- 25:30Speaker 2: everywhere even when you like clean up at night, it's
- 25:33Speaker 2: just never going to be the way that it was
- 25:35Speaker 2: when it was just you or even.
- 25:37Speaker 4: I know, I'm a little worried about that. I think
- 25:39Speaker 4: that's where a lot of my fears come from, of like,
- 25:41Speaker 4: we're doing this whole house. Am I going to be
- 25:44Speaker 4: okay with it being ruined? And there's really nothing I'm
- 25:47Speaker 4: okay with it being ruined, So I'm like, oh, crap
- 25:51Speaker 4: like that. I don't know. I don't know.
- 25:53Speaker 3: I'll figure it out by couches that you can watch
- 25:55Speaker 3: the covers for.
- 25:57Speaker 4: Yes, okay, I did. I did make sure that happened.
- 26:00Speaker 4: That's happening.
- 26:00Speaker 2: That's I don't know why they would ever make couch
- 26:02Speaker 2: cushions that can't be cleaned in the wash.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Yeah makes sense. Okay.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Your HGTV show that you had a couple appearances on
- 26:11Speaker 2: that which made sense?
- 26:12Speaker 3: Was that fun? Did you get any inspiration from.
- 26:13Speaker 4: That of The Bachelor McMansion one?
- 26:16Speaker 3: What'd you think about that show?
- 26:18Speaker 4: I thought it was fun. It was fun to be on.
- 26:20Speaker 4: I was so glad to be included in it. There
- 26:22Speaker 4: were some different style choices of people on.
- 26:26Speaker 2: The show, but yeah, Deane only did because he had
- 26:30Speaker 2: to pass that week.
- 26:31Speaker 3: I would never have taken such a risk.
- 26:32Speaker 4: It was.
- 26:33Speaker 3: It was so bad.
- 26:34Speaker 2: It was really bad. Like I'd see that in Santorini
- 26:37Speaker 2: that would be fun, cute, but nothing.
- 26:40Speaker 4: It was just like not here, no, no, no, And
- 26:43Speaker 4: I probably offended him, but I was just like, I
- 26:45Speaker 4: can't really find much about this room that I know.
- 26:47Speaker 3: It's true. It was true, Yeah, it was true.
- 26:49Speaker 4: So but no, I thought it was really things are
- 26:53Speaker 4: really fun concept. What did you think about it?
- 26:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it was, it was fun.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Some of the episodes are a little long, but like yeah,
- 26:58Speaker 2: and the fact that you know, the guys never well
- 27:01Speaker 2: they did move in, but then we never saw it.
- 27:02Speaker 3: Oh but the five that they moved in and changed
- 27:05Speaker 3: it off.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Yeah, because I saw the first episode of Taylor Frankie
- 27:08Speaker 2: Paul and it was all back to pretty much normal.
- 27:11Speaker 3: Like there's a couple of things I would say.
- 27:12Speaker 4: The women did such a great job in.
- 27:15Speaker 3: The room for well, the room, like the main room.
- 27:19Speaker 4: The main room they did. And then I go in
- 27:22Speaker 4: when we did the oh my gosh, we did the
- 27:26Speaker 4: Bachelorette where we all got together all the bachelor yess
- 27:29Speaker 4: for Taylor Fanky Paul season and they took it all out,
- 27:32Speaker 4: and I was like, at least this room was like,
- 27:34Speaker 4: they did a great job in the back bedroom that
- 27:37Speaker 4: I mean, that's where I was. So I just say
- 27:38Speaker 4: it's a the bedroom.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Yeah, that's my bedroom. The bedroom like the bedroom, Yeah,
- 27:43Speaker 2: that was my bedroom too.
- 27:44Speaker 4: So I'm like the in the show that I was on,
- 27:48Speaker 4: it was all women on that on that team, and
- 27:50Speaker 4: they did a great job and it's all gone.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Good, so good. That's so annoying.
- 27:54Speaker 2: But you knew that they were going to do that
- 27:55Speaker 2: because I said during that episode ago they took out
- 27:58Speaker 2: two bunks there. They had to squeeze those bunks in there,
- 28:01Speaker 2: and they made it so that it was like fitting
- 28:04Speaker 2: eight people instead of ten or something like that.
- 28:06Speaker 3: I think there might be like thirteen people in that room.
- 28:08Speaker 4: And it's honestly horrible. I did not. I mean that's
- 28:12Speaker 4: where I'm very into like sleeping with the sleep mask
- 28:14Speaker 4: and you're like.
- 28:15Speaker 3: Yeah, that was like privacy to me to put up
- 28:17Speaker 3: on put those things on.
- 28:18Speaker 4: Yes, And so I'm very it's because of my time
- 28:21Speaker 4: on The Bachelor that now I cannot go to sleep.
- 28:24Speaker 4: I was, oh wow, because people just got at different
- 28:27Speaker 4: times giving me and all the things.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I'm like, I had to have the top bunks so
- 28:30Speaker 2: i'd have privacy, Like people can't go up there.
- 28:32Speaker 4: I did the top bunk as well. Anyone people sitting
- 28:36Speaker 4: on my bed hit the talk?
- 28:38Speaker 2: Yeah, oh no, no, no, When I'm up here, it's
- 28:40Speaker 2: I'm like having my journal time. Yes, yes, you ever
- 28:43Speaker 2: read your bachelor Bachelor at journal?
- 28:44Speaker 3: You want to like die?
- 28:45Speaker 4: I it's like, not too recently, but I would say,
- 28:51Speaker 4: like maybe a year ago, and I'm like, oh my gosh,
- 28:53Speaker 4: I was trying to make it work with Yeah, a
- 28:55Speaker 4: man who probably didn't want to be there, you know.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Yeah, there's that one. So funny, it's so funny.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Oh No, I had been, and I recently recently is
- 29:07Speaker 2: the past few months, read ours on the podcast and
- 29:10Speaker 2: I had to skip many a chapters because.
- 29:12Speaker 3: I chapped her. Yeah, like I just couldn't read that cloud.
- 29:27Speaker 2: Let's talk about Bachelorette Taylor Frankie Paul just for a second.
- 29:32Speaker 2: She is kind of a little guilty of what you
- 29:36Speaker 2: were talking about earlier. Sometimes shouldn't be airing certain things
- 29:41Speaker 2: on social media when like it should be dealt with
- 29:44Speaker 2: privately in like counseling. So what do you what do you,
- 29:48Speaker 2: what do your take on Bachelorette currently as the state
- 29:53Speaker 2: of the franchise, okay, the state of the union, state
- 29:55Speaker 2: of the franchise, and then her season possibly air.
- 30:01Speaker 4: It's just all unfortunate for everyone. I would just say,
- 30:05Speaker 4: like for everyone, I think for Taylor, for the for
- 30:10Speaker 4: the men that were on her season, for the franchise.
- 30:15Speaker 4: I feel like this was really like a big risk
- 30:19Speaker 4: from the beginning.
- 30:20Speaker 3: Yeah, did you think that initially where You're like, oh.
- 30:23Speaker 4: I did think it was a bit of a risk.
- 30:25Speaker 2: I was like, I don't think if it was as
- 30:26Speaker 2: big of a deal because I wasn't very familiar.
- 30:28Speaker 4: With her, were you no, Okay, but just from just knowing, yeah,
- 30:34Speaker 4: just thinking about even when I was a bachelor, like
- 30:37Speaker 4: I was like kind of like the weirdo cast like casting.
- 30:40Speaker 2: And it was still the greatest casting ever. But when
- 30:43Speaker 2: I found out it was you, I was like.
- 30:44Speaker 4: But I but I felt like I was kind of
- 30:46Speaker 4: like an odd choice because there's a certain like type
- 30:50Speaker 4: of girl. I mean, there's been a few that have
- 30:52Speaker 4: kind of broken the mold, but Taylor's like none that
- 30:55Speaker 4: she's a mom, she's on another show, she's had like
- 30:57Speaker 4: a very public life, definitely polarizing, and so I thought,
- 31:04Speaker 4: oh wow, this is a very bold choice. But I
- 31:07Speaker 4: think they were trying to mix it up, do something different,
- 31:10Speaker 4: and I do think it's unfortunate that they took such
- 31:14Speaker 4: a big risk and you know it wasn't even able
- 31:18Speaker 4: to air, and so yeah, it's disappointing, I would say,
- 31:24Speaker 4: And if it does end up airing, I mean, I
- 31:28Speaker 4: feel like I'm gonna be one of these like I'm watching.
- 31:29Speaker 3: I know, it's like one of the thing is we
- 31:31Speaker 3: all are going to watch.
- 31:32Speaker 2: Everybody's like you know that you said you could say
- 31:35Speaker 2: this or that or feel this or that way, but
- 31:37Speaker 2: you're going to watch.
- 31:38Speaker 3: You're right, I'm going to watch.
- 31:39Speaker 4: I am. Yeah, I don't. I'm very interested, but it
- 31:43Speaker 4: is hard to seek kind of what's been happening, like
- 31:47Speaker 4: even after the show, and I don't know, I mean,
- 31:50Speaker 4: I really went. I think it's hard sometimes when like you,
- 31:53Speaker 4: I know you as well, like you went on the
- 31:55Speaker 4: show like so pure being like I'm going to find
- 31:58Speaker 4: my husband and you've got you did. But it can
- 32:02Speaker 4: be hard when it doesn't.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Feel like it's taken us seriously for every right, right
- 32:07Speaker 2: right when the whole thing went down, in March. I
- 32:12Speaker 2: felt so drained and so heavy that day because the
- 32:16Speaker 2: franchise means so much to me and it has given
- 32:20Speaker 2: me my whole like besides, like my family, mom, dad,
- 32:24Speaker 2: and my sister are like my whole life. So to
- 32:28Speaker 2: see it have such a hard time was difficult.
- 32:32Speaker 4: It makes me so sad. I'm like, yeah because you
- 32:36Speaker 4: because you also like know the people that are like
- 32:40Speaker 4: that's how they provide for their family, and it's like
- 32:43Speaker 4: thrown a wrench in just their life and paused everything.
- 32:48Speaker 4: And then of course for the people that are on
- 32:49Speaker 4: the show, like even Taylor, like it's all hard, hard
- 32:53Speaker 4: to see, And yeah, I'm interested how the franchise moves forward.
- 32:58Speaker 4: What do you think we cut?
- 33:02Speaker 2: The break is probably well needed right now. I think
- 33:06Speaker 2: they have to stunt cast again. I still think that
- 33:09Speaker 2: they need to have a celebrity be the lead. And
- 33:13Speaker 2: I think that this might be airing, but I don't
- 33:16Speaker 2: think it'll be airing on ABC. It'll be on Hulukay
- 33:18Speaker 2: at least, I think that it'll be a trial in
- 33:22Speaker 2: whether Hulu and that kind of binge watch might be
- 33:26Speaker 2: better off for them.
- 33:27Speaker 4: Oh that's interesting.
- 33:28Speaker 2: I don't know if it'll ever go that way, but
- 33:29Speaker 2: like it's worth at least experimenting when you already have
- 33:32Speaker 2: like a crumbling situation. Yeah all right, Well my last
- 33:36Speaker 2: question for you is why should this be your book?
- 33:39Speaker 2: Your new book, Reasons to Be Loved by You, out
- 33:42Speaker 2: June twenty third, be everybody's beach read.
- 33:46Speaker 4: Well, you know we are on. I feel like most
- 33:50Speaker 4: people that are that listen to this podcast are people
- 33:53Speaker 4: that are part of Bachelor Nation. Way they and they
- 33:56Speaker 4: love love, and so I feel like if you for
- 34:00Speaker 4: people who are part of Bachelor Nation, if you've ever
- 34:03Speaker 4: wanted a book that is you know, about a reality
- 34:07Speaker 4: TV star the aftermath of the show, from someone who
- 34:11Speaker 4: very much has the right let's say research for it,
- 34:17Speaker 4: I think they'll love it. But if you just are
- 34:19Speaker 4: a person that loves love and wants something that is
- 34:22Speaker 4: super heartfelt but also has these like messy moments in
- 34:26Speaker 4: it that is family and love, I think it'll be
- 34:29Speaker 4: the perfect beat read. Right.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Yeah all right, Well, it's always an honor and pleasure
- 34:33Speaker 2: to have you, and I will be reading this this
- 34:37Speaker 2: summer whenever I can put it into my craz alone.
- 34:40Speaker 4: Yeah, just give it to the house, maybe give it
- 34:42Speaker 4: to one of the other housewives when they're about to
- 34:45Speaker 4: just argue.
- 34:46Speaker 3: Until they like this is them.
- 34:50Speaker 4: You know, right now you need to take a moment
- 34:52Speaker 4: go read.
- 34:53Speaker 2: I Ironically, I just had to deny a call from
- 34:55Speaker 2: Rosie Woods. So we have to get on with our events. Tonight, Na, Sir,
- 35:01Speaker 2: Hannah will be she'll be talk to tonight do the
- 35:04Speaker 2: book signing, and I will be with a few of
- 35:07Speaker 2: the ladies doing a Q and A over in Northern
- 35:11Speaker 2: Rhode Island. So all right, guys, thank you so much
- 35:14Speaker 2: for joining us. It's been fun. Until next time. I've
