- 0:00Speaker 1: This podcast is recorded on gadigal Land Always was, always
- 0:03Speaker 1: will be Aboriginal Land.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Hey chicks, I'm out and I'm sal and this is
- 0:15Speaker 2: two broad chicks to show that shares life lessons because
- 0:18Speaker 2: we're broken funds but rich and Lie Lie. We're rich
- 0:21Speaker 2: and Licena. I've gotten its, guys. That's it.
- 0:29Speaker 3: We're rich in Lie.
- 0:30Speaker 2: We're rich in Lie. Get out the KP twenty four.
- 0:33Speaker 3: We're rich in life life.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Is this an omen for the episode or what it's not?
- 0:38Speaker 2: It's not all right. We're just gonna leave that as
- 0:40Speaker 2: it was.
- 0:41Speaker 3: You know, why not.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Take what you can get me. I can take what
- 0:48Speaker 2: I can get on you.
- 0:49Speaker 3: You guys just said the world.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Okay, So today we are talking about the best and
- 0:56Speaker 2: worst dupes, the ones we think are worth shopping and
- 1:00Speaker 2: the ones that we personally avoid, and kind of what
- 1:05Speaker 2: makes a good jupe, and then also some of the
- 1:08Speaker 2: most popular dupe brands. And we're also going to be
- 1:12Speaker 2: discussing what a dupe is because when we put a
- 1:14Speaker 2: question box up a few people were like, what is
- 1:16Speaker 2: a jeup?
- 1:17Speaker 3: And we're also going to.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Be chatting about some of the controversy and thoughts around
- 1:22Speaker 2: like the concept of jeops. It's sticky. It is sticky,
- 1:26Speaker 2: and it's run. I love that. We like love the drama,
- 1:31Speaker 2: but it's products.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Like, we're so lame.
- 1:34Speaker 2: I'm gonna got the tea about this lip glass girl.
- 1:40Speaker 2: There are more important things in life. But you know what,
- 1:42Speaker 2: this is important to me? It is it is important
- 1:44Speaker 2: to you, and this is important to the cheap it is.
- 1:46Speaker 3: That's why we're getting into it on today's show.
- 1:48Speaker 2: All right, So we have product recommendations all throughout the episodes.
- 1:53Speaker 2: So we're not going to do standalone product recommendations because
- 1:56Speaker 2: we don't want to hurt you. Waltz Okay, probably been
- 2:00Speaker 2: through enough. If yours does anything like mine.
- 2:03Speaker 3: It's taken a beaten after boxing day.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Okay, So jumping straight in, then let's start with the basics.
- 2:10Speaker 2: What is a jep? What is a do or dupe
- 2:17Speaker 2: or not to do? Show? It's weird here we go,
- 2:20Speaker 2: She's off, she's gone rogue. To dupe would be to
- 2:24Speaker 2: like convince to trick someone. Yeah, but that's but that's
- 2:29Speaker 2: not what a dupe eats.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Yeah, but I just think it's not interesting. Yeah, but
- 2:33Speaker 3: I do be taken.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Do you feel like some brands do doupe in that way.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:40Speaker 2: But so the term jupe initially emerged in the early
- 2:46Speaker 2: two thousands and is pretty much just an abbreviation of duplicate.
- 2:52Speaker 2: So the definition of dupe as a cheaper alternative came
- 2:55Speaker 2: a little later, following the two thousand and eight procession
- 2:59Speaker 2: and the early days of social media when people were
- 3:01Speaker 2: just starting to share reviews and things like that online.
- 3:05Speaker 2: And because of that time period and the economic crisis,
- 3:08Speaker 2: a lot of people were looking for and sharing.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Ways to save money.
- 3:13Speaker 2: So the presence of cheaper alternatives to high end products
- 3:16Speaker 2: isn't really a new thing, although jupe is a word
- 3:20Speaker 2: that's come into our vocab in recent years a little
- 3:23Speaker 2: bit more so with that, the perception of juopes has
- 3:29Speaker 2: evolved over the years, I think the way that we've
- 3:31Speaker 2: sort of like weaved this word into our conversations.
- 3:35Speaker 3: A little bit more.
- 3:36Speaker 2: And the term jupe has less of a negative connotation
- 3:39Speaker 2: compared to like counterfeit or knockoff.
- 3:42Speaker 3: So, as pointed out in an article by The Cut
- 3:45Speaker 3: that we read when we were doing research.
- 3:46Speaker 2: For this episode, nobody really wants to be like, oh,
- 3:50Speaker 2: I got this knockoff design a handbag, but they're proud
- 3:54Speaker 2: to say I got this great jupe like that sounds savvy,
- 3:57Speaker 2: it does, and exactly what con institutes a dupe is
- 4:01Speaker 2: also up for debate. While some people insist that the
- 4:04Speaker 2: two comparing products need to have the exact same formula, fabric,
- 4:08Speaker 2: composition ingredients, etc. We personally believe that a dupe is
- 4:12Speaker 2: a product that serves the same purpose at a similar
- 4:15Speaker 2: quality for a lower price. But I think as well,
- 4:18Speaker 2: you have to take into consideration what is the purpose
- 4:22Speaker 2: of that particular product. For example, if you're going to
- 4:24Speaker 2: be looking at shoes, like a very popular jupe that
- 4:26Speaker 2: was sent in was Birkenstocks versus the Kmart Birkenstock's dupe, right,
- 4:32Speaker 2: And I think when you're looking at things like this,
- 4:36Speaker 2: for example as well, if we're looking at boots, like shoes,
- 4:39Speaker 2: those the quality of those products definitely serve a purpose
- 4:44Speaker 2: that the quality will differ in the longevity of that product.
- 4:48Speaker 2: So when you're buying and you're spending more on like
- 4:51Speaker 2: a pair of leather boots versus the dupe, which is
- 4:54Speaker 2: going to probably be made out of plastic leather, you're
- 4:57Speaker 2: going to get more wear out of the non dupe
- 5:01Speaker 2: product that is more expensive. Not saying you need to
- 5:03Speaker 2: go and buy a designer, designer label anything. That's not
- 5:07Speaker 2: what we're saying. But it's like when you're looking at
- 5:10Speaker 2: the quality in that way versus when you're looking at makeup,
- 5:13Speaker 2: for example, you use makeup the exact same way every day,
- 5:17Speaker 2: like the way that you use a foundation isn't going
- 5:19Speaker 2: to differ. So if that's serving the same purpose at
- 5:21Speaker 2: the same kind of quality and longevity, it doesn't make
- 5:24Speaker 2: that much of a difference. Yeah, and beauty products have
- 5:27Speaker 2: a shorter expiration in comparison to say clothes or for
- 5:31Speaker 2: where that also have to be more.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Durable than a beauty product.
- 5:36Speaker 2: So we're going to get into the juopes now, but
- 5:38Speaker 2: we cannot discuss jupes and beauty jeops without discussing MC beauty.
- 5:44Speaker 2: So we put a question box up on Instagram and
- 5:47Speaker 2: ask people to send in their favorite jeopes, and the
- 5:51Speaker 2: most like buy a landslide. The most things sent in
- 5:55Speaker 2: were about MC beauty jupes. But we wanted to kind
- 5:58Speaker 2: of give a little bit of conte and a bit
- 6:00Speaker 2: of history to this because it's kind of been in
- 6:02Speaker 2: recent months slash the last year that this brand has
- 6:06Speaker 2: taken off So for a little bit of history, MC
- 6:09Speaker 2: Beauty is like the child little sister brand of Model
- 6:13Speaker 2: Co and was originally a tanning brand. And I remember
- 6:16Speaker 2: going to Woolies when I was like sixteen and getting
- 6:20Speaker 2: like Model Co and is in like the pink bottle
- 6:22Speaker 2: and bing bembong.
- 6:23Speaker 3: I never used it, it was it good.
- 6:24Speaker 2: I don't think any tan was really that good back
- 6:27Speaker 2: in twenty sixteen.
- 6:28Speaker 3: You're right, they've come a long way.
- 6:30Speaker 2: Yeah, Like, I think we've really evolved terms of the
- 6:33Speaker 2: tanning market because I look back on Phonos and I'm like, whoa,
- 6:37Speaker 2: But who knows. Maybe it was just me being sixteen
- 6:40Speaker 2: not knowing how to fake tan. Maybe it actually had
- 6:42Speaker 2: nothing to do tan itself. True, I'm the problem. So
- 6:49Speaker 2: Model Co also sold makeup products, and you can actually
- 6:52Speaker 2: still buy these on their site and some retailers. In
- 6:55Speaker 2: twenty eighteen, they decided to divide the business into two parts.
- 7:00Speaker 2: According to a Beauty Directory article published in twenty eighteen,
- 7:04Speaker 2: the quote says, at one end will be Model Co,
- 7:07Speaker 2: the premium brand sold internationally at high end beauty retailers,
- 7:12Speaker 2: and the other will be MC Beauty, which has been
- 7:15Speaker 2: dubbed lux for less. Yeah. And MC Beauty we feel
- 7:20Speaker 2: has definitely lived up to that lux for less narrative
- 7:23Speaker 2: over the last six years. But in terms of model Co,
- 7:27Speaker 2: we haven't really seen it in any high end beauty
- 7:29Speaker 2: retailers personally, but it is currently sold in Chemist Warehouse
- 7:33Speaker 2: and Big w which I would say are more accessible
- 7:36Speaker 2: and affordable retailers.
- 7:38Speaker 3: I wouldn't necessarily say they were luxury.
- 7:40Speaker 2: I wouldn't say they high end, but I did look
- 7:41Speaker 2: on the model Co site and they did sell a
- 7:44Speaker 2: bronze for fifty five dollars ooh okay, which I was like,
- 7:49Speaker 2: that's US high end price.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, you know.
- 7:52Speaker 2: So in recent years, MC beauty has become an incredibly
- 7:56Speaker 2: viral brand after they've basically.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Had this rebrand to being a jupe brand.
- 8:03Speaker 2: So TikTok loves a budget beauty jube as we know,
- 8:07Speaker 2: and the brand MCO Beauty is set to hit seventy
- 8:09Speaker 2: million dollars in retail.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Sales revenue this year.
- 8:13Speaker 2: For creating affordable versions of luxury products, it.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Seems at most, if not.
- 8:19Speaker 2: All, of their products launched are dupes of high end products.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Some of the most viral MCO Beauty product jupes are
- 8:27Speaker 2: and the ones that we had sent in as well
- 8:29Speaker 2: is the deal Lip Glow Color Reviv BARMB which is
- 8:32Speaker 2: sixty two dollars, and the MCO Beauty jupe is the
- 8:35Speaker 2: Glow Up pH Lip Barm which is eighteen dollars. There's
- 8:38Speaker 2: also the viral Drunk Elephant Bronzing Drops, which was sixty dollars,
- 8:42Speaker 2: and the MCO Beauty jupe is the Super Glow Bronzing
- 8:45Speaker 2: Drops which are thirty two dollars, the nas Afterglow Lip
- 8:48Speaker 2: Balm which is forty six dollars, and the MCO Beauty
- 8:52Speaker 2: Jupe is the Sheer Tint Lip Barm which is twenty
- 8:54Speaker 2: two dollars, The incredibly viral Charlotte Tilery Hollywood Flawless Filter
- 9:00Speaker 2: sixty five dollars, and the dupe from MC beauty is
- 9:04Speaker 2: the Flawless Glow Luminous Skin Filter, which is thirty five dollars.
- 9:08Speaker 2: A lot of people sent this one in, yeah, and
- 9:12Speaker 2: there have been a lot of dupes for like that,
- 9:15Speaker 2: that high end product, but I actually both personally haven't
- 9:18Speaker 2: tried it, but I have tried this other gyp, which
- 9:20Speaker 2: was the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Light wand which is
- 9:24Speaker 2: sixty dollars and MC Beauty dup this with their Instant
- 9:28Speaker 2: Contour Beauty Wand which is twenty nine dollars. But you've
- 9:31Speaker 2: got a few more for us, don't you say it?
- 9:33Speaker 3: Don't just say?
- 9:33Speaker 2: Don't you say? I know what a shower with the rest. Yeah,
- 9:36Speaker 2: So we've got the Lenege Lip Glowy Balm, which is
- 9:40Speaker 2: twenty five dollars.
- 9:42Speaker 3: The MCO Beauty Dupe is the Glow.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Lip Bomb, which is fourteen dollars, the Glossy Air Cloud Paint,
- 9:48Speaker 2: which is twenty dollars USD. The Dupe is the MCO
- 9:52Speaker 2: Beauty Cheek and Lip Tint for fourteen dollars. Then we've
- 9:56Speaker 2: got the Tart Shape Tape Contour Concealer for fifty dollars,
- 10:00Speaker 2: also like a viral cold product. The MC Beauty Dupe
- 10:03Speaker 2: is the Instant Concealer Camouflage and Contour, which is twenty dollars.
- 10:08Speaker 2: And then last but not lace, another fave the fenty
- 10:12Speaker 2: Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer, which is thirty six dollars,
- 10:16Speaker 2: and the MC Beauty Dupe is the Power Gloss Ultra
- 10:19Speaker 2: Shine Lip Gloss, which is thirteen dollars. So pretty much
- 10:22Speaker 2: all of these products are like almost less than half priced. Yeah,
- 10:26Speaker 2: and like that probably felt like a long list to
- 10:28Speaker 2: listen to, but that was like half, not even not
- 10:31Speaker 2: even a quarter of all the products that they've duped.
- 10:35Speaker 2: And this brand has received a lot of praise for
- 10:38Speaker 2: supplying affordable dupes, whilst there are some who think the
- 10:42Speaker 2: ethics of this are a bit blurry. So a forum
- 10:46Speaker 2: on Beauty Heaven called another day another MC beauty copy
- 10:50Speaker 2: paste launch spicy. So this post read in the forum, Well,
- 10:55Speaker 2: MC beauty is added again, this time launching a copy
- 10:58Speaker 2: paste of the Charlotte till Flawless Filter. Yes, I know
- 11:02Speaker 2: Elf made a jup, but this is literally a copy
- 11:04Speaker 2: paste of the CT product. I think this is shameful
- 11:07Speaker 2: of MC beauty. It's practically copyright infringement. What are your thoughts? Yeah,
- 11:12Speaker 2: So this particular forum was discussing the MC beauty Flawless Glow,
- 11:16Speaker 2: which we mentioned is a very obvious dupe for the
- 11:19Speaker 2: Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter. I think it's important to note
- 11:23Speaker 2: that MCO Beauty isn't the only brand to dupe this product.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Like there are other drugstore brands like Elf, Revlon, and
- 11:30Speaker 2: Revolution that have launched their own version of this CT
- 11:33Speaker 2: product that everybody loves.
- 11:35Speaker 3: But one user on.
- 11:36Speaker 2: The forum wrote, I'm all for a jupe. Let's be real,
- 11:40Speaker 2: No makeup brand owns one type of product and they
- 11:43Speaker 2: all will make their version of the trends, but the
- 11:46Speaker 2: packaging being a total ripoff is a bit far in
- 11:49Speaker 2: my opinion. I'm surprised Charlotte Tilbury isn't taking legal action
- 11:53Speaker 2: about that one, as it is a bit on the nose.
- 11:57Speaker 2: There was another user, Sidney Swan's nine to ten, also
- 12:01Speaker 2: said I feel like this shifts the brand a bit
- 12:03Speaker 2: and now makes them look a bit tacky. It sort
- 12:06Speaker 2: of gives a fast fashion ripping off other designers feel.
- 12:10Speaker 2: And there was actually a quote from the CEO where
- 12:14Speaker 2: of MC beauty where she stated that they have an
- 12:18Speaker 2: entire team about IP and that they investigate, you know,
- 12:23Speaker 2: that they're not doing an IP infringement or like how
- 12:26Speaker 2: close they can get to, you know, duoping a product
- 12:28Speaker 2: without infringing on a copyright. And she did also point
- 12:32Speaker 2: out that MC beauty, this is a direct quote was
- 12:35Speaker 2: like the fast fashion of the beauty industry. Yeah, which
- 12:39Speaker 2: is an interesting way to describe it.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Yeah, totally like they're aware.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Yes, like and yeah, it seems like that is very
- 12:46Speaker 2: much part of their strategy and branding. However, there was
- 12:50Speaker 2: one comment on this forum that made a very good
- 12:52Speaker 2: point and kind of sums up the whole thing quite well.
- 12:55Speaker 2: It read, I can see that m CO is giving
- 12:58Speaker 2: people a cheaper option knowing that some people will really
- 13:00Speaker 2: want this product and just can't afford the original. It
- 13:03Speaker 2: also makes me think that some brands charge too much
- 13:06Speaker 2: for their products if they can be reproduced so cheaply.
- 13:09Speaker 2: I understand that they have come up with the original
- 13:11Speaker 2: idea and don't agree it should be copied, but it's
- 13:14Speaker 2: been happening for years with other products. Look at biscuits
- 13:17Speaker 2: in your local supermarket for instance. Is this the equivalent
- 13:20Speaker 2: of home brand products made by Colon and Woolworth. It
- 13:23Speaker 2: might not be ethical, but I think it's here to stay.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:27Speaker 2: This brings us back to our discussion on the Jeff
- 13:30Speaker 2: Avenue dupe drama a few episodes back last year, and
- 13:35Speaker 2: our sort of take on it is if you don't
- 13:37Speaker 2: agree with juops, that's so fine and completely within your
- 13:41Speaker 2: right not to purchase them, Like that is so okay,
- 13:46Speaker 2: but like our dupes inevitable kind of like this quote said, like,
- 13:51Speaker 2: I just I'm not sure if it's ever going to end.
- 13:55Speaker 2: But it's because of this word dupe, because that has
- 13:58Speaker 2: become such a trending word that I think more people
- 14:01Speaker 2: are actually conscious of it than perhaps they were in
- 14:03Speaker 2: the past. I think people feel quite like fiery about
- 14:07Speaker 2: this particular situation is because it is every product launch, Yeah.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Which is interesting.
- 14:12Speaker 2: And we saw because another popular brand that gets duped
- 14:16Speaker 2: on TikTok is Asart. There was a quote from their CCO,
- 14:22Speaker 2: Suzanne Santos, and they said that people have been duping
- 14:27Speaker 2: ASoP and brands in general for decades. The TikTok hashtag
- 14:31Speaker 2: Aesop dupe has almost one million views, with videos showing
- 14:35Speaker 2: people refilling ASoP bottles with cheap hand wash or shower gel.
- 14:40Speaker 2: So just because they love Asart and the bottle and
- 14:43Speaker 2: the packaging and they want that whole vibe. I saw
- 14:46Speaker 2: someone doing that with Way shampoo and conditioner. Yeah, but
- 14:49Speaker 2: they like the bottle and they like like their shower
- 14:52Speaker 2: caddy to look really lux and they put a cheaper
- 14:55Speaker 2: alternative into those bottles.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Yeah, which is so interesting.
- 14:59Speaker 2: But Suzanne said, we've never spoken publicly about any brands
- 15:03Speaker 2: that follow that path because it's not something that can
- 15:05Speaker 2: be resolved. There are people who feel that an alternative
- 15:09Speaker 2: brand is a viable option for them, and that's the
- 15:11Speaker 2: glory of choice and democracy. There you go. So what's
- 15:16Speaker 2: interesting again about this whole thing is no one had
- 15:21Speaker 2: a reaction like the mc beauty reaction to the Shark
- 15:25Speaker 2: flex Style versus the dison Air app, which was sent
- 15:29Speaker 2: in for this episode by the Chicks as a favorite.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Like when the Shark Flex Style launched, everyone was like, yeah,
- 15:35Speaker 2: it's like, oh my god, Yes, a cheaper alternative to
- 15:38Speaker 2: like dyceon, And like the Shark Flextar, there's not a
- 15:42Speaker 2: lot different in terms of the look. Like when you
- 15:44Speaker 2: looked at it when it first launched, you're like, yes,
- 15:46Speaker 2: this is a dice in air app.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Jupe.
- 15:48Speaker 2: There are some differences that we're going to go into.
- 15:51Speaker 2: We personally haven't used the Shark flex Style, but a
- 15:54Speaker 2: few chicks did submit this as a solid jupe. Neither
- 15:57Speaker 2: of these products are cheap, though, like the Shark flex
- 16:00Speaker 2: Style product is certainly more affordable, but the Shark Flextyle
- 16:04Speaker 2: air styling and drying system is four hundred and ninety
- 16:07Speaker 2: nine dollars and the Dison air Rap is nine hundred
- 16:10Speaker 2: and forty nine dollars, big difference between the products, but
- 16:13Speaker 2: the base amount is still expensive. Yeah, all right, So,
- 16:17Speaker 2: like I'll mention, we're going to run through some of
- 16:19Speaker 2: the differences between the Dison air Rap and the Shark
- 16:22Speaker 2: Flex Style and some of the similarities as well. So
- 16:25Speaker 2: the Flex style comes with a concentrator, the Dison doesn't.
- 16:29Speaker 2: The Dison air Rap comes with firm, smooth and round
- 16:32Speaker 2: volumeizing brushes. The Shark Flex style comes with an oval brush,
- 16:36Speaker 2: paddle brush or diffuser. The air rap comes with three
- 16:40Speaker 2: curling barrels in zero point eight inch, one point two
- 16:44Speaker 2: inches or one point six inches, whereas the Shark Flex
- 16:47Speaker 2: style only comes with two curling barrels in zero point
- 16:50Speaker 2: nine to five inch and one point twenty five inches.
- 16:54Speaker 2: The Shark Flex style can work like a traditional hair
- 16:57Speaker 2: dryer because you can twist it into that ninety degree
- 17:00Speaker 2: angle that's easier to use to dry hair. And in
- 17:03Speaker 2: a lot of the reviews, people were saying that the
- 17:06Speaker 2: dice in air rap you don't necessarily use to dry
- 17:08Speaker 2: your hair from like sopping wet to completely dry, whereas you.
- 17:11Speaker 3: Can use the Flex style to do that. Because you
- 17:14Speaker 3: can like flex it into that ninety degree angle.
- 17:16Speaker 2: I feel like I've used my Dyson to do it
- 17:18Speaker 2: from like softing wet hair.
- 17:20Speaker 3: But maybe it takes longer because of the shape.
- 17:22Speaker 2: I don't know. According to some reviews, the air app
- 17:25Speaker 2: button placement is more convenient and easier to use. The
- 17:29Speaker 2: air app also has curling barrels that are easier and
- 17:32Speaker 2: less awkward to use than the flex Style curlers, which
- 17:35Speaker 2: require switching mid styling if you want to curl your
- 17:37Speaker 2: hair either toward or away from the face, whereas the
- 17:40Speaker 2: air App can change the direction of the airflow with
- 17:43Speaker 2: the flick of a switch. However, that's only the new
- 17:46Speaker 2: dice in air App. The original version one you had
- 17:50Speaker 2: to change the barrels too, so I wonder if flex
- 17:52Speaker 2: Style will come out with a version later away you
- 17:55Speaker 2: don't have to do that as well to compete. Yeah,
- 17:57Speaker 2: they are like a little bit different though, like the
- 18:00Speaker 2: angle and the diffuser, which I think is the concentrator
- 18:04Speaker 2: yeah as well, Like you probably know the term diffuser
- 18:07Speaker 2: more than a concentrator. It's like the one that you
- 18:08Speaker 2: like squish for the koolies. But side by side the
- 18:12Speaker 2: products do look very similar. And offer similar attachments. In
- 18:15Speaker 2: reviews we've seen online, both products produce a very similar
- 18:18Speaker 2: result for both blowouts and curls. However, in some reviews
- 18:21Speaker 2: we've seen that people claim that the dyce In styling
- 18:24Speaker 2: still holds longer than the Shark Flex. So all things
- 18:27Speaker 2: to consider. Yeah, definitely, and a lot of people as
- 18:30Speaker 2: well we're saying like depends on your hair type. Also,
- 18:33Speaker 2: like how much practice that you have at using these products,
- 18:36Speaker 2: because they, you know, can take a little bit of
- 18:38Speaker 2: practice to make perfect.
- 18:40Speaker 3: So there's also that to consider as well. But at
- 18:43Speaker 3: the end of the day, products have a purpose, whether it's.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Beauty clothing or a drink bottle. If it does what
- 18:50Speaker 2: it says, people are gonna buy it. There's also a
- 18:54Speaker 2: site that we found when we were doing research for
- 18:56Speaker 2: this episode as well, called skin sort, which shows you
- 18:59Speaker 2: the percent match between products. They show you the percentage
- 19:03Speaker 2: of ingredient match and attribute match. As we said at
- 19:07Speaker 2: the start, personally, our idea of a jupe is something
- 19:10Speaker 2: that serves the same purpose.
- 19:12Speaker 3: At a similar quality for a cheaper price.
- 19:15Speaker 2: But it's cool to know that there's a resource out
- 19:17Speaker 2: there where you can get that exact ingredient match if
- 19:20Speaker 2: that's your personal definition of a JEP. But we're going
- 19:24Speaker 2: to share some of our personal favorite jupes, because we
- 19:27Speaker 2: do have quite a few, and then we're going to
- 19:30Speaker 2: also share some that we don't necessarily think are as
- 19:33Speaker 2: good as the original that they're duping. Okay, first off,
- 19:37Speaker 2: the press the Skims Sculpting Body Suit versus the Kmart Jupe.
- 19:43Speaker 2: I love both of these products, but I think the
- 19:46Speaker 2: Kmart Jupe is.
- 19:48Speaker 3: A pretty good dupe.
- 19:51Speaker 2: The fabric composition is very similar, but when we look
- 19:54Speaker 2: at the pricing of these products, it is very different.
- 19:58Speaker 2: So the Skim Sculpting Body Suit is one hundred and
- 20:01Speaker 2: twenty eight dollars. It's gone up. It used to be
- 20:03Speaker 2: one hundred and nine dollars. Yeah, when I bought mine,
- 20:06Speaker 2: it was one hundred nine dollars and now it's one
- 20:07Speaker 2: hundred and twenty eight dollars on the skim Slite and
- 20:09Speaker 2: one hundred and twenty nine dollars from David Jones. And
- 20:12Speaker 2: the Kmart Jupe is seventeen dollars. And we actually did
- 20:16Speaker 2: like a try on hall comparing these two products, and
- 20:19Speaker 2: they are very very similar. I will say that I
- 20:24Speaker 2: think the Skims one does really like like suck you
- 20:29Speaker 2: in a lot more, but in saying that, that makes
- 20:32Speaker 2: it a little bit more uncomfortable than the Kmart one.
- 20:35Speaker 2: So if you want one that's the look but is comfortable,
- 20:40Speaker 2: definitely go the Kmart one. But if you want one
- 20:42Speaker 2: that's going to work as shapewear and you want to
- 20:45Speaker 2: spend one hundred and twenty nine dollars on a body suit,
- 20:49Speaker 2: then I would recommend like the Skims one as well,
- 20:52Speaker 2: but the Kmart one is very good.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Yeah, okay.
- 20:56Speaker 2: My first fave jupe is the Gannia body suit for
- 21:00Speaker 2: food repairing cream, which is a dupe of the Sole
- 21:03Speaker 2: Desionio Brazilian boom boom cream. Don't boom boom. Now, every
- 21:09Speaker 2: time I was saying bum bum for so long, I
- 21:12Speaker 2: thought it was bum bum TikTok.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Tell me it's boom boom boom boom.
- 21:15Speaker 2: There you go boom boom boom. Say way, oh, well,
- 21:19Speaker 2: but the Garnia version is fourteen dollars ninety nine cents
- 21:23Speaker 2: and the Sole Desonairo is seventy seven dollars. That is
- 21:27Speaker 2: so yeah, like that is that is a big price difference.
- 21:32Speaker 2: And also the Garny Air one for fifteen bucks is
- 21:35Speaker 2: three hundred and eighty mills, whereas the sold Disionaire is
- 21:38Speaker 2: two hundred and forty mills, so it's also a smaller
- 21:40Speaker 2: size as well.
- 21:41Speaker 3: I've tried both. I love the sole Disionira.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Yeah, how long did that last year? That's what I
- 21:48Speaker 2: was going to say. It does not last long, like
- 21:51Speaker 2: it looks like a huge tub. And I remember somebody
- 21:55Speaker 2: saying on like a podcast that it lasted them like
- 21:57Speaker 2: a whole year. Well, I went through it in like
- 22:00Speaker 2: six weeks because I was using it as my everyday moisturizer.
- 22:04Speaker 2: It's beautiful, it feels amazing on the skin. It smells incredible,
- 22:09Speaker 2: but like it only lasted me about six to eight weeks,
- 22:13Speaker 2: and it costs almost eighty dollars, Like that is a lot.
- 22:18Speaker 2: And then when I saw on TikTok that people were like,
- 22:20Speaker 2: this is a really good jew. I went to chemist
- 22:23Speaker 2: Warehouse and picked up the garniair one and because it's
- 22:25Speaker 2: a slightly bigger size, it lasted me a little bit longer.
- 22:28Speaker 2: It smells so so similar, and I think that Garnia
- 22:32Speaker 2: is good for moisturizers. I really like garniea but they
- 22:36Speaker 2: discontinued one of my favorite products.
- 22:37Speaker 3: In the world, So they're on my naughty list right now.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Do you remember it was this gradual tnding moisturizer I
- 22:45Speaker 2: loved discontinued. They discontinued the Garnia Summer Body gradual moisturizer.
- 22:51Speaker 2: It was like six dollars and it was so good
- 22:54Speaker 2: And the only place I can find it now is
- 22:57Speaker 2: like some rogue one on Amazon, which like twenty six dollars,
- 23:01Speaker 2: and then on Asos, I think for a similar price point.
- 23:05Speaker 2: But knowing that it was like six seven dollars, I
- 23:08Speaker 2: can't justify, but I might, like, I might just buy
- 23:13Speaker 2: it for twenty five dollars because or twenty six dollars
- 23:17Speaker 2: because it's that good. I don't know why they discontinued it.
- 23:21Speaker 2: I need to look into whether it's just been like rebranded.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Yeah, but I loved it as well.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Broke my heart, yeah, because I remember I got you
- 23:28Speaker 2: onto it and I like dragged you to cameras y Yeah,
- 23:33Speaker 2: and You're like drag and I was like try it,
- 23:35Speaker 2: do it, use it, use it. But anyway, Yeah, So
- 23:38Speaker 2: that Gannia cream is really good and has the same
- 23:40Speaker 2: like coconuty cent, which I feel like is the draw card.
- 23:43Speaker 3: For the Bone Boom cream for the majority of people.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Let's be real, Yeah, I'm not a big coconut girl.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Well fuck my drag.
- 23:49Speaker 2: No next nope, Okay, my next dube is going to
- 23:55Speaker 2: be probably a shock to no one, But it's a
- 23:58Speaker 2: duke for the Charlotte tail Ree Flawless Filter. But my
- 24:00Speaker 2: favorite is actually the Elf Flawless Glow. I can't really
- 24:05Speaker 2: tell the dear friends stowing these products and I love it.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Soals also tried it, she also loves it. And the
- 24:12Speaker 2: Flawless Globe is like half the price, nearly half the
- 24:16Speaker 2: price of the Flawless Filter. And because as well, for
- 24:20Speaker 2: things like foundation, if you're wearing makeup every day, you're
- 24:22Speaker 2: just going to turn through it, and it's just nice.
- 24:25Speaker 2: I don't like using my really expensive foundations for like
- 24:30Speaker 2: the every day where that you know, it's just kind
- 24:33Speaker 2: of to feel a bit more put together. Like I
- 24:36Speaker 2: like to save my spenny good ones for like evenings
- 24:40Speaker 2: or nights out or like special occasions, which probably isn't
- 24:43Speaker 2: a good habit to have because they've got an expiry
- 24:45Speaker 2: date on there. But yeah, it is a really really
- 24:49Speaker 2: good jip and you can get it from price Line
- 24:51Speaker 2: and then the other one that I have is Flower Beauty,
- 24:54Speaker 2: which you can get from Chemist Warehouse, and they just
- 24:58Speaker 2: have they have a bunch of joops there Drew Barrymore's brand,
- 25:01Speaker 2: and they are so freaking affordable.
- 25:03Speaker 3: I feel like it's kind of slept on.
- 25:05Speaker 2: It's so slept on. I don't know why Flower Beauty
- 25:07Speaker 2: is so slept on. I think it's a lot bigger
- 25:09Speaker 2: in America than it is in Australia. Right, but they
- 25:12Speaker 2: have like a seven dollar mascara, which is my all
- 25:14Speaker 2: time favorite mascara. It's better than the better than sex,
- 25:16Speaker 2: better than the Telescopic, better than the what's the other
- 25:20Speaker 2: one that Kevin Kuan one? Like, I love it so
- 25:24Speaker 2: good and there are people that know about it because
- 25:27Speaker 2: when I do go to get it, it is solid.
- 25:29Speaker 3: Yeah, whenever we see that mascar we're like yeah, Like we.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Get it to each other, Like I'll be like it's
- 25:34Speaker 2: in stock, I'll get you one, and we're like please.
- 25:37Speaker 2: And then they also have bronzing drops, which are a
- 25:40Speaker 2: dupe for the Drunk Elephant Bronzing drops, and the Petal lipstick,
- 25:44Speaker 2: which is a dupe for the pillow Talk clipstick, and
- 25:46Speaker 2: again so affordable, like if you take one recommendation out
- 25:51Speaker 2: of this episode, please let it be Flower Beauty because
- 25:55Speaker 2: it's really good.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Yeah, we both back it.
- 25:58Speaker 2: I also have a dupe for the pillow Talk lipstick
- 26:02Speaker 2: from Charlotte Tilbury, which again is like a cult classic
- 26:05Speaker 2: and I do love it.
- 26:06Speaker 3: I love the pillow Talk lipstick.
- 26:08Speaker 2: But the Revlon color Stace sweded ink in Gut Instinct
- 26:13Speaker 2: is thirty dollars in comparison to fifty three dollars for
- 26:16Speaker 2: the Charlotte Tilbury and it's a really close color match.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Like really really good.
- 26:21Speaker 2: And then last but not least, you might have seen
- 26:25Speaker 2: on TikTok as well, where we find all of these
- 26:27Speaker 2: good jupes, but it's a dupe for the Betaga tear
- 26:31Speaker 2: drop earrings that are thirteen hundred dollars. There was one
- 26:35Speaker 2: jube on Amazon that was eleven dollars and they like
- 26:39Speaker 2: went superviral.
- 26:40Speaker 3: They're like a really close match.
- 26:43Speaker 2: And we'd seen as well, like some people were talking
- 26:45Speaker 2: about buying design and jewelry and it's still tarnished. Yeah,
- 26:50Speaker 2: so these earrings as well, they're.
- 26:53Speaker 3: Like a statement piece. They're not like your.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Little hoops that you're going to be wearing in the shower,
- 26:58Speaker 2: the earrings that you're going to be pulling out for
- 26:59Speaker 2: special events and probably not wearing to the beach. So
- 27:03Speaker 2: in terms of buying like the cheaper alternative that Mike Tarnish,
- 27:06Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, I'm fine with that.
- 27:08Speaker 3: So there's the eleven dollar version from Amazon.
- 27:11Speaker 2: But also Meshki has a pretty close jupe as well,
- 27:13Speaker 2: but they're like the double tear drop shape rather than
- 27:16Speaker 2: like the single tear drop so it's not the exact
- 27:18Speaker 2: same jupe similar but where you got sent those? And
- 27:21Speaker 2: I was like, it gives the same look. Yeah, we
- 27:23Speaker 2: always get like someone in the comments being like where
- 27:26Speaker 2: are they from? Yeah?
- 27:27Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Okay, moving into our worst jupes, So where we actually
- 27:32Speaker 2: prefer the og the og? So my first one is
- 27:38Speaker 2: the Stanley Cup dupes versus the Kmart jupe. So Stanley
- 27:41Speaker 2: Cup's are around sixty dollars. I think they're fifty nine
- 27:44Speaker 2: to ninety nine and the Kmart jup is fifteen dollars.
- 27:47Speaker 2: So the reason why I prefer the original is because
- 27:51Speaker 2: of the Kmart dupe isn't actually the same product. It
- 27:54Speaker 2: keeps it cold for four hours, whereas the Stanley Cup
- 27:57Speaker 2: keeps it cold for twelve hours. Like I put ice
- 28:00Speaker 2: in my Stanley Cup before I go to bed and
- 28:03Speaker 2: when I wake up there's still ice in there. And
- 28:06Speaker 2: then with the kmup one, it's kind of cold at
- 28:10Speaker 2: four hours, but like not really like it does serve
- 28:14Speaker 2: a purpose. If you just want an emotional support water
- 28:17Speaker 2: bottle that kind of keeps your water cool, it will
- 28:21Speaker 2: do the job. Because they do both leak, like if
- 28:23Speaker 2: you turn them upside down, Yeah, water comes out of
- 28:25Speaker 2: both of them.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Yeah, which confuses me. Yeah, I didn't realize.
- 28:29Speaker 2: That when I got the Stanley Cup because I brought
- 28:31Speaker 2: the Stanley Cup to compare them. Yeah, that I was like, eh, okay,
- 28:36Speaker 2: weird vibe that it's kind of like my Stanley cup
- 28:39Speaker 2: or the Kmart jupe is kind of what you use
- 28:41Speaker 2: at home. That's how I see it. Yeah, and then
- 28:43Speaker 2: the Frank Green is like the on the go because
- 28:45Speaker 2: you can actually close it because you can't chuck either
- 28:47Speaker 2: of these in your bag. Yeah weird. But then I
- 28:51Speaker 2: don't know. But yeah, so the quality of these products
- 28:56Speaker 2: shouldn't be chucking that they're different because the price point
- 28:59Speaker 2: is very very different. But one does a better job
- 29:03Speaker 2: at doing what it says it does. But the came
- 29:05Speaker 2: up one also doesn't say that it will keep you know,
- 29:09Speaker 2: your ice in the cup when it's in a house fire.
- 29:11Speaker 2: You know, it's not being like I am just as good,
- 29:14Speaker 2: like yeah, like it does what it says if I do,
- 29:17Speaker 2: But that offering isn't as good as the Stanley Cup.
- 29:20Speaker 2: But when we asked you chicks for your favorite jupes,
- 29:22Speaker 2: the Kmart Stanley Cup dupe was one that was submitted
- 29:25Speaker 2: a lot and a lot of people were like, I.
- 29:27Speaker 3: Take this to work and like use it during the day. Yeah,
- 29:29Speaker 3: so that's the thing.
- 29:30Speaker 2: If you're at work and you're going to be filling
- 29:32Speaker 2: up your cut more than once. That's that's good point
- 29:34Speaker 2: because as well, you said that you would drink one
- 29:37Speaker 2: of those within four hours, crazy, whereas I wouldn't, Like,
- 29:40Speaker 2: I would probably sip that the whole day, so I
- 29:43Speaker 2: want that to be cold the whole day, whereas you
- 29:45Speaker 2: would go through that whole cup within four hours, whereas
- 29:49Speaker 2: on a camel and I'm like water IWI.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:54Speaker 2: My not so favorite dupe is the og X Renewing
- 29:58Speaker 2: and Hydrating and show Argon Oil of Morocco penetrating oil,
- 30:03Speaker 2: which is thirty dollars from chemis squarehouse versus the original product,
- 30:09Speaker 2: which is the Oliplex number seven bonding oil, which is
- 30:12Speaker 2: fifty four dollars.
- 30:14Speaker 3: So I had.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Used the Oliplex one initially and loved it, but then
- 30:19Speaker 2: I'd seen on I think in some beauty articles that
- 30:23Speaker 2: this oil was a good jupe, and I tried it,
- 30:27Speaker 2: and it is a good product. It's not a bad
- 30:29Speaker 2: product by any means, but I do prefer the Oliplex
- 30:33Speaker 2: one because it is a lighter oil. Oils are tricky,
- 30:36Speaker 2: and they can be tricky depending on your hair type.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Because I've got finer hair. I don't need a super
- 30:42Speaker 2: thick hair oil because my hair is already getting dragged
- 30:45Speaker 2: down because it's so long but also thin. And I
- 30:48Speaker 2: just find that the Oliplex one sits in my hair
- 30:50Speaker 2: nicer and works better for my hair type, Whereas I
- 30:54Speaker 2: was like, yeah, the other one is twenty five dollars cheaper,
- 30:59Speaker 2: but I don't think it works as well with my
- 31:01Speaker 2: hair personally, And that's just like a singular thing, like
- 31:05Speaker 2: it might like the jupe might work better for someone
- 31:07Speaker 2: else exactly. Yeah.
- 31:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:09Speaker 2: The next thing that I think you shouldn't dupe dupe
- 31:15Speaker 2: is furniture. I have been burned by like cheaping out
- 31:20Speaker 2: on furniture in the past. I ended up with a
- 31:22Speaker 2: couch for ants. I got like the world's tiniest couch.
- 31:28Speaker 2: It came in the box and my old roommate and
- 31:30Speaker 2: I were looking at it and she was like, is
- 31:32Speaker 2: that the whole couch in that box? And I was like, apparently.
- 31:35Speaker 2: And then we built it and she was like, did
- 31:36Speaker 2: you check the measurements? And I was like, look, no,
- 31:40Speaker 2: was it like a kid's couch.
- 31:41Speaker 3: No, that was.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Apparently a three seater couch. And honestly, half my ass
- 31:46Speaker 2: cheek couldn't sit on it, like I was falling off
- 31:49Speaker 2: at half the time, one of us would have to
- 31:50Speaker 2: sit on the floor.
- 31:52Speaker 3: Oh my, it was bad.
- 31:53Speaker 2: And then I did it again when I got bedside
- 31:55Speaker 2: tables and I was like fifty dollars each. I was
- 31:58Speaker 2: like for these like mid century modernish style like bedside tables.
- 32:03Speaker 2: They came for ants. Again, I was like, oh, so
- 32:08Speaker 2: that's the thing is. I saw this TikTok about a
- 32:11Speaker 2: chick buying the cloud couch dupe and it was less
- 32:14Speaker 2: than a thousand dollars. And I think when we're looking
- 32:16Speaker 2: at furniture, we have to ask ourselves, why is this
- 32:20Speaker 2: so cheap? Like there is probably we've got to have
- 32:23Speaker 2: that little alarm bell, especially with furniture with joops. There
- 32:26Speaker 2: definitely are items that you can get more bang for
- 32:30Speaker 2: your buck and that I think you can get more
- 32:32Speaker 2: affordable options, Like I've spoken about Ikea that I think
- 32:35Speaker 2: they're at a really great price point for the quality amount.
- 32:38Speaker 2: But like she was posting about this cloud couch and
- 32:42Speaker 2: she posted it when she first got it, and she
- 32:44Speaker 2: was like, I love it, It's amazing. And then after
- 32:47Speaker 2: a month she posted it and all the pillows had shrunk,
- 32:51Speaker 2: the cushioning on the inside had fallen apart, like it
- 32:54Speaker 2: was like like limp, Like it was a flaccid couch.
- 32:58Speaker 3: Nobody wants that.
- 32:59Speaker 2: Nobody wants a placid couch, and it just it just
- 33:02Speaker 2: didn't look good. And again it happened with my Puppisan
- 33:06Speaker 2: couch when I thought I was buying the whole thing
- 33:09Speaker 2: on Amazon, and then I just got the cushion and
- 33:12Speaker 2: then the cushion was really thin. Then I had to
- 33:14Speaker 2: get another couch and rip up the cushioning and then
- 33:15Speaker 2: stuff that in there. So I just don't think you
- 33:17Speaker 2: should buy dupes for furniture on the internet, unless like
- 33:22Speaker 2: you can go in store, see it in person, sit
- 33:25Speaker 2: on it, look at the size of it and all
- 33:29Speaker 2: that stuff. Because it's just a bit risky. Yeah, especially
- 33:32Speaker 2: for something like a couch or a bed or a
- 33:34Speaker 2: rug that needs to be durable and will be used
- 33:39Speaker 2: a lot. I think it's different if it's say like
- 33:41Speaker 2: a vase, yes, you know, or something like that that
- 33:44Speaker 2: isn't really getting used or laid on or whatever, Whereas
- 33:48Speaker 2: a couch, like they take a beating, so it could.
- 33:53Speaker 2: So it is definitely worth like spending all money and
- 33:55Speaker 2: going for the one that is.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Maybe a little bit of a higher price tag, but
- 33:58Speaker 3: a better.
- 33:59Speaker 2: Quality of all life longer than like the dupe that's
- 34:01Speaker 2: going to fall apart in two seconds. Yeah, this video,
- 34:03Speaker 2: I'll find it and I'll link it in the show
- 34:06Speaker 2: notes or we can put it, stitch it on TikTok
- 34:08Speaker 2: or something. But I was like whoa, because I remembered
- 34:11Speaker 2: i'd seen the original and then the jupe, and I was.
- 34:14Speaker 3: Like yeap, yeah.
- 34:16Speaker 2: My final jupe is the Kmart Spring Blush perfume for
- 34:22Speaker 2: twelve dollars, which is allegedly a jupe for the Gucci
- 34:26Speaker 2: Bloom perfume, which is two hundred and fifty dollars. The
- 34:30Speaker 2: Gucci Bloom is one of my signature cents.
- 34:32Speaker 3: I absolutely love it.
- 34:34Speaker 2: I've been wearing it for years and years. But I
- 34:37Speaker 2: had gone through a stint where I'd finished my bottle
- 34:40Speaker 2: and I hadn't got a new one, and I saw
- 34:42Speaker 2: that this was apparently a good jupe, and Alex and
- 34:44Speaker 2: I love Camart. You chicks know that we love a
- 34:47Speaker 2: good jupe from Kmart.
- 34:48Speaker 3: So I was like, oh, I'll try it. It wasn't
- 34:51Speaker 3: as good as the Gucci Bloom.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Like, I'll just say that, I think that it's still
- 34:55Speaker 2: you know, smellt Yeah, it's smelt similar. It smelt similar,
- 34:58Speaker 2: like I definitely could see the sim milarities, but I
- 35:00Speaker 2: just didn't think that the scent was as nice and
- 35:04Speaker 2: it didn't last as long on the skin for me.
- 35:07Speaker 2: So I think that as a thirty year old woman
- 35:09Speaker 2: who invests in the Gucci bloomers like a treat for
- 35:13Speaker 2: myself that I wear on special occasions and I want
- 35:16Speaker 2: to have that like luxury feeling. I was like, the
- 35:19Speaker 2: Kmart one was good, but like it didn't hit that.
- 35:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:24Speaker 2: When we were talking about this, as well. I asked you.
- 35:26Speaker 2: I was like, do you think you can smell the
- 35:27Speaker 2: difference though, because this is your signature exactly. Yeah, like,
- 35:32Speaker 2: which I think how we like drink coke zero and
- 35:35Speaker 2: normal coke and we're like nah, and that's that. I'm
- 35:38Speaker 2: so easy, you know, because we love it and I'm
- 35:42Speaker 2: obsessed that, like maybe the average man or woman wouldn't
- 35:47Speaker 2: be able to tell the difference in the sense, And
- 35:49Speaker 2: given the reviews that I've seen on TikTok and whatnot,
- 35:52Speaker 2: I think that is definitely the case because people love it.
- 35:55Speaker 2: But the thing is, you're going to have to be
- 35:57Speaker 2: reapplying it throughout the day if you want the center
- 36:00Speaker 2: last all day. I do think with perfume, the more
- 36:02Speaker 2: you the more you spend, the quality does improve with
- 36:07Speaker 2: a lot of brands, Like my mum is like a
- 36:10Speaker 2: Chanell girl till she dies and that scent will haunt
- 36:13Speaker 2: me until I'm lowered into the grave. Yeah, Like if
- 36:16Speaker 2: someone walks past me, I can smell the Chanel number
- 36:20Speaker 2: five as they go past, like and I'm just like, mum, Yeah,
- 36:23Speaker 2: Chanelle Chance is my other one for anyone playing it birthdays,
- 36:26Speaker 2: I was like, and they sad word and my seventy
- 36:30Speaker 2: second favorite perfume. Perfumes are the best. All right, well
- 36:36Speaker 2: that is our favorite and jeops for this episode. So
- 36:42Speaker 2: let's get into advice with the US. Advice to the Chicks.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Me and my boyfriend have been together for six months
- 36:50Speaker 2: and now he suddenly wants to leave everything behind and
- 36:53Speaker 2: go on a backpacking trip to Europe for a year.
- 36:56Speaker 2: My dilemma is he's asking me to come. I really
- 36:59Speaker 2: do like him and I just feel like he's the one.
- 37:02Speaker 2: But I am about to finish my nursing degree, So
- 37:05Speaker 2: please help me. Should I stay or should I go?
- 37:10Speaker 2: I have a question, why can't we wait? Like group's
- 37:13Speaker 2: not going anywhere?
- 37:14Speaker 3: Yeah? I agree, Like what's the urgency?
- 37:19Speaker 2: Also, I think that if they're the one, he could
- 37:24Speaker 2: also potentially go backpacking to Europe for a year and
- 37:27Speaker 2: you could continue doing your nursing degree and then you
- 37:31Speaker 2: guys could come back together.
- 37:32Speaker 3: It would be really really had I would suck, it
- 37:34Speaker 3: would But if they're the one, yeah, then you can't.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Wait to be really annoyed. Like if my like if
- 37:40Speaker 2: Rob turn around and we had like something that was
- 37:43Speaker 2: like committing us, yeah, like we do, Like, I wouldn't
- 37:47Speaker 2: be able to move to Europe, you know.
- 37:49Speaker 3: Yeah, like you two also live together and everything.
- 37:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not sure if they, but like if there
- 37:53Speaker 2: was something that was like a commitment that was like
- 37:56Speaker 2: really keeping me here, like graduating or achieving something that
- 37:59Speaker 2: was very important to me and it was very close,
- 38:01Speaker 2: and they were like, well I'm gonna I'm gonna go
- 38:04Speaker 2: do that. Yeah, I'd be like, can we not wait?
- 38:07Speaker 2: Then we can do it together.
- 38:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:09Speaker 2: I think it doesn't sound like you want to pause
- 38:12Speaker 2: your nursing degree and go with him. If you wanted to,
- 38:15Speaker 2: I think that would be a different story. I'd be like, yeah,
- 38:17Speaker 2: go for it. Your nursing degree will also be back,
- 38:21Speaker 2: will still be there for you to complete when you
- 38:23Speaker 2: come back. But it doesn't sound like you want to.
- 38:25Speaker 2: It sounds like your degree is your priority and that's
- 38:28Speaker 2: so fair. Yeah, I don't think it should. I don't
- 38:30Speaker 2: think that should change. Yeah, because as well, then then
- 38:34Speaker 2: you could just go to Europe. You could go on
- 38:36Speaker 2: this backing pack, backing peck, you know, you could go
- 38:39Speaker 2: on this trip. There we go and it's done, Like
- 38:42Speaker 2: you're not like, oh, when I get back, I've got
- 38:44Speaker 2: to finish my nursing degree. Yeah, like you've got something
- 38:46Speaker 2: kind of weighing you down, not negatively, but there is
- 38:52Speaker 2: just an obligation when you return that I think sometimes
- 38:55Speaker 2: when you do go and you go on a long trip,
- 38:57Speaker 2: when you get back, you might not actually end up
- 38:59Speaker 2: finishing that, and then you might be mad at yourself
- 39:01Speaker 2: for doing that, and then you may hold resentment for
- 39:04Speaker 2: the reason as to why you didn't finish what you started. Yeah,
- 39:09Speaker 2: and also, you know what, rereading that first sentence again,
- 39:13Speaker 2: So you two have been together for six months and
- 39:16Speaker 2: he's going on a backpacking trip.
- 39:18Speaker 3: To Europe for a year.
- 39:20Speaker 2: I personally wouldn't commit to traveling with someone for a
- 39:25Speaker 2: duration that's longer than the time that you've been together.
- 39:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not doubting.
- 39:29Speaker 2: That this person might be the one for you, but
- 39:32Speaker 2: in the grand scheme of things, if they are the one,
- 39:34Speaker 2: it's very early days in the relationship. And also, traveling
- 39:37Speaker 2: with someone does often bring up potential issues in a
- 39:43Speaker 2: relationship that you might not realize are they're when you're home,
- 39:45Speaker 2: because it can be like a high stress situation and
- 39:47Speaker 2: bring it together or apart exactly. And if you have
- 39:52Speaker 2: paused your nursing degree to go on this trip, that
- 39:57Speaker 2: you're not really one hundred percent your heart's in. You
- 40:00Speaker 2: could end up resenting your partner if some of these
- 40:03Speaker 2: issues come up and you're like, well, fuck, I could
- 40:05Speaker 2: have been at home finishing my degree. Yeah, and instead
- 40:08Speaker 2: I followed you because you wouldn't compromise with me. You're
- 40:12Speaker 2: about to finish it. Just yeah, I would think, I
- 40:15Speaker 2: think have a very open and empathetic conversation, understanding that
- 40:22Speaker 2: this is something that he really wants to do, that
- 40:24Speaker 2: he feels very passionate about, and that you aren't trying
- 40:27Speaker 2: to stop him from doing that, you aren't trying to
- 40:29Speaker 2: be in the way of doing that, and that you
- 40:31Speaker 2: would really love to go with him. So to be
- 40:34Speaker 2: able to do that, which he also wants you to do,
- 40:38Speaker 2: is to meet in the middle of compromise and when
- 40:40Speaker 2: I finish my nursing degree, we can go. Also throw
- 40:44Speaker 2: in some pros more time to say, you can have
- 40:47Speaker 2: more time to plan it. Like I'm thinking about to
- 40:50Speaker 2: finish my nursing degree is like six months to a year. Yeah,
- 40:53Speaker 2: If it's two years, that's probably a little bit too
- 40:56Speaker 2: long to ask someone to wait to go and do
- 40:59Speaker 2: their like pray love trick. I don't know yeah, but
- 41:03Speaker 2: I wouldn't. I just hate the idea of a long
- 41:05Speaker 2: distance but everyone is different. Like some people can stomach it,
- 41:09Speaker 2: but like I'm way too needy. I'm like I need
- 41:12Speaker 2: a cuddle, I need attention. Yeah, it would definitely be
- 41:15Speaker 2: like that would be a huge sacrifice for both of you.
- 41:19Speaker 2: So I think, yeah, I agree, you need to have
- 41:21Speaker 2: a conversation with him about it, and I would yeah,
- 41:25Speaker 2: definitely put forward like can you hold off for six
- 41:27Speaker 2: months to a year? Maybe you guys could go on
- 41:29Speaker 2: like a local trip or like a closer trip like
- 41:32Speaker 2: go to Bali or New Zealand, ye or something like
- 41:35Speaker 2: that to compromise so that he can still get.
- 41:37Speaker 3: His traveling fix.
- 41:38Speaker 2: Or could he start and you meet him. Yeah, like,
- 41:42Speaker 2: if you've got six months left, could he go for
- 41:45Speaker 2: six months, do his eat, pray, love, and then you
- 41:48Speaker 2: meet him. We got options, Yeah, compromise, compromise. Relationships are
- 41:54Speaker 2: all about exactly. But yeah, that is tricky, But I
- 41:57Speaker 2: definitely think you should finish your degree. That's that's really
- 42:02Speaker 2: my my perspective on it. Yeah, for sure. Ohky donkey,
- 42:06Speaker 2: Well that is a rappy doodle, chicks. I was about
- 42:14Speaker 2: to go rap your doodle Oh that's another of advice
- 42:20Speaker 2: rappy doodle. That's thanks chicks for having we love to
- 42:27Speaker 2: be here, and thank you to m I K Made
- 42:30Speaker 2: for making today's episode of two broad checks possible. Love
- 42:33Speaker 2: you goodbye, see you later, and catch your next time.
