- Forged In The Dark: No one is coming to do the work for you. No one is coming to save you. And you can't wait for others to clap for you. It is time to be your own woo person. And of course, there's a story here. Welcome to Forged in the Dark. I'm your host, Jamie. Let's dig in. Last week I was at a game night. And This particular game, ⁓ i with the exception of the head table, ⁓ every time you or lose, you move to a different place you almost always have a different partner. So I found myself partnered with someone that I had never met before ⁓ And they doing pretty well ⁓ And I gave them a round of a prop. ⁓ I gave them a little of applause, said good job, and had a big smile. ⁓ And they stopped. Like they their turn and they said, hold on. ⁓ Is that all you've got? And I was like, what are you talking about? Is that all I've got? And they said, You're my partner. You're supposed to be my woo-woo girl. And I'm like, Well, clearly you have no idea who you're talking to because I might just be the best. Woo-woo girl in the world. Hey, this is what I do for a living. I lift people up, I show people their light, I help people do this and this. I didn't say all of this, but I'm thinking it in real time. So I said, but here's the thing I will be your woo girl, and I will be the loudest woo girl in this room. But you don't get one single woo until you woo for yourself. And that, that hit. Because that person stopped and just stared at me. And they said, But I'm not good at that. And I said, I don't care. If you want my woo, you're gonna have to woo too. And you can't make it up. That's when the wooing at our table started, and all four of us were wooing for all four of us, no matter who was playing against the other. But it brings us, to the question do you woo for yourself? ⁓ Are you your biggest person? I ⁓ no one is coming save you. No one is coming to do the work for you. ⁓ And that includes the ⁓ The work that is done in the dark, the work that is done when no one is watching, rarely gets applauded. What people see in the light, they they see how you take care of yourself, how you carry yourself, how you speak, how you shine, how you glow, what your aura looks like. But they don't see the work it takes to get there. And being your biggest cheerleader. Is like the first step loving yourself to the point you don't care that ⁓ my gosh, I just played the best and woo-woo like woo woo. I want to be like I want to woo for you, ⁓ if you are not going to woo for yourself, then I'm not going to woo for you. ⁓ it ⁓ really interesting because. We we did need to resume the game and we did and and we were all laughing and having so much fun at this round. And when this round was over and we were going to our other tables, they said, I need to talk to you before the night is over. And we did come back to that conversation ⁓ And ⁓ and and basically what the end of the night Conversation looked like is more like this. One person's inability to recognize your value or worth does not diminish your value or your worth. Your ability to look at yourself, look at your life, look at all of the hard things you have done in your life. Your job, you're not your job is to be proud of yourself. Your job is to love yourself. Now I have been out in the world a lot more lately, and I'm having some fantastic conversations with a lot of you. And the reason I bring this up is because there are recurring themes in these conversations. And a big, huge one is giving yourself credit for who you are, for the kind heart you have, for the work that you do that no one sees. You must give yourself credit. You must every once in a while, and I'm not saying live in the past, but every once in a while, look back over your shoulder and look at the things. Because I can I I can tell you from real experience. The things that I have been through are just what I've been through. I I don't ruminate the on them. I don't live in them. But in that, not thinking about them. I also don't think they're such a big deal. But a lot of other people do. What you have overcome in your life that you just see as a Tuesday, somebody else might see as a lifeline. And I know I started this with you have to be your own woo girl or your own woo person. ⁓ take you know, you woo girl, woo boy. you have to be willing to acknowledge. That even though these things might not be a big deal to you, they are a big deal. You are a big deal. How far you've come is a big deal. The the accomplishments, the the the everything. You are a big deal, and it is a big deal. In a world where nobody is coming to save you. And nobody is coming to do the work for you. What's it going to take for you to be your own woo person? What's it going to take for you to give yourself credit in front of people, in private, both. I mean, we had that round. ⁓ my gosh, that round we were laughing and we were loud and we were wooing. And the next couple times we were at the same tables. The the the or the same table. The the conversation continued. And the conversation continued at the end. Other people's ability to clap for you has nothing to do with your ability to clap for yourself. Other people's ability or inability to recognize your value and your worth has nothing to do with you ⁓ Your job ⁓ is to yourself. Your job is to clap for yourself. Your job is to be proud of yourself. So right now Take a minute. Take five minutes. Grab a piece of paper, open up a note on your phone, or make that mental list. Run down a list of accomplishments that you are proud of. And let yourself feel the pride. And whether you are sitting in your car in traffic or behind your desk, give yourself a woo-woo! Woo! Like be your own woo person. Because nobody's going to do it for you unless you're willing to do it for yourself first. All right. That's what I have for you today. Until next time.
