  Speaker 1: for this chapter. Romans Chapter eight is a it is

  Speaker 1: a rich chapter. It's amazing. This whole book is amazing.

  Speaker 1: I know I'm different from it. I feel a whole revolution.

  Speaker 1: My spirit is free, my heart is free, I can

  Speaker 1: feel the defeat in my flesh. Thank you for teaching

  Speaker 1: us how to deal with the flesh. Thank you for

  Speaker 1: paying the penalty for our sins. We ask God, God,

  Speaker 1: forgive us, Lord, if there is anything in our lives,

  Speaker 1: any sin, any compromise, any lukewarmness. O God, take it out, Lord,

  Speaker 1: And I pray for everyone under the sound of my voice.

  Speaker 1: I pray that they will learn the freedom, the true

  Speaker 1: so let's dive into it. Romans Chapter eight, verse one,

  Speaker 1: it says there is Therefore, before I dive into it,

  Speaker 1: I do have to just touch on chapter seven a

  Speaker 1: little bit. Remember Chapter seven kind of left us crying out, like, Oh,
• 6:32
  Speaker 1: wretched man that I am, who can deliver us from
• 6:37
  Speaker 1: this body of death. Paul talks about the struggle with
• 6:41
  Speaker 1: the flesh and the spirit. The struggle with the flesh.
• 6:46
  Speaker 1: It is weak. It is not able to fulfill or
• 6:49
  Speaker 1: obey the law. By nature. We are rebels, and so
• 6:53
  Speaker 1: we need to be born again, and we need the
• 6:56
  Speaker 1: Holy Spirit to help us deal with the flesh, because
• 7:00
  Speaker 1: that is the only thing in this universe that is
• 7:03
  Speaker 1: powerful enough to put the flesh down, and that is
• 7:07
  Speaker 1: the Spirit, that is the literal life of God living
• 7:11
  Speaker 1: in us. And so Paul is crying out one. And
• 7:16
  Speaker 1: so I finished the thought with this. In verse eight,
• 7:20
  Speaker 1: it says, there is therefore no now, there is therefore
• 7:25
  Speaker 1: now no kind of nation to those who are in
• 7:29
  Speaker 1: Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh,
• 7:34
  Speaker 1: but according to the spirit. Hey, man, let's park it
• 7:41
  Speaker 1: right here. Let's begin to break it down. Now. Paul
• 7:48
  Speaker 1: has been describing the struggle in chapter seven, like I
• 7:53
  Speaker 1: just mentioned, but the battle with sin. But now he
• 7:59
  Speaker 1: declared the glorious truth in Christ, there is no kind
• 8:05
  Speaker 1: of nation. Notice it doesn't say less kind of nation
• 8:09
  Speaker 1: or reduced condemnation. It says no condemnation. The law can't
• 8:18
  Speaker 1: condemn us. The law cannot condemn me, Sin cannot condemn me, right,
• 8:28
  Speaker 1: and Satan himself can no longer condemn us. The Bible
• 8:32
  Speaker 1: says that he is the accuser of the brethren when
• 8:35
  Speaker 1: he accuses us before the Father, day and night. What
• 8:39
  Speaker 1: a blessing that he is no longer able to condemn
• 8:44
  Speaker 1: me because Christ bore it all. Right, Family, this is freedom.
• 8:51
  Speaker 1: Talk right here. When the enemy whispers you're guilty, remember
• 8:58
  Speaker 1: and remind yourself no kind of nation. That's a memory.

  Speaker 1: Verse right there. We're not under shame or under grace.

  Speaker 1: But the verse ads it's for those who walk in
• 9:15
  Speaker 1: the spirit. Now pay attention to that. This is this
• 9:21
  Speaker 1: is a prerequisite, This is a qualification. It's for those
• 9:25
  Speaker 1: who walk in the spirit. This means we can't claim
• 9:29
  Speaker 1: freedom and then live reckless in the flesh. Let me
• 9:35
  Speaker 1: say that again, we can't claim this freedom if we
• 9:40
  Speaker 1: are still living according to the flesh. His hot family.
• 9:46
  Speaker 1: Our mission is to help the youth and the young adults. Know,
• 9:51
  Speaker 1: those in the detention centers and those in school, those
• 9:56
  Speaker 1: all ages really. But what we want to notice that
• 10:00
  Speaker 1: your past does not define you. Your mistakes don't define you.

  Speaker 1: It is in Christ you're free. But we have to
• 10:13
  Speaker 1: walk that out. We have to walk that freedom out. Amen.

  Speaker 1: All right, let's go to verse two. For the law
• 10:23
  Speaker 1: of the Spirit of life in Christ, Jesus has made
• 10:28
  Speaker 1: me free from the law of sin and death. That
• 10:36
  Speaker 1: is a praise right there. The law of the Spirit. Now,
• 10:45
  Speaker 1: let's go ahead and break that down a little bit. Now,
• 10:52
  Speaker 1: there are two laws at work. The law of sin
• 10:55
  Speaker 1: and death is like gravity, it always pulls us down.
• 11:03
  Speaker 1: But the law of the spirit of life is like aerodynamics. Right,
• 11:11
  Speaker 1: it lifts us up, just as a law of lift
• 11:14
  Speaker 1: overcomes gravity. So the spirit overcomes sins pool right, the
• 11:22
  Speaker 1: law of lift. We're talking about an airplane. When an
• 11:26
  Speaker 1: airplane is able to take off and is able to
• 11:31
  Speaker 1: lift up even though the law of gravity tells us
• 11:35
  Speaker 1: to stay on the ground. But there's another law at work,
• 11:40
  Speaker 1: so you don't have to stay stuck. The spirit of
• 11:45
  Speaker 1: God is stronger than the addiction that you're struggling with,
• 11:50
  Speaker 1: stronger than the depression that you're dealing with, stronger than
• 11:55
  Speaker 1: sins weight on your life. At his time, when we
• 12:00
  Speaker 1: go into juvenile detention sinners, we tell the young brothers
• 12:04
  Speaker 1: and sisters, you may feel trapped by the system, but
• 12:08
  Speaker 1: in Christ you are free. Amen. So there's two laws
• 12:17
  Speaker 1: at work. Which law are you going to surrender to?
• 12:26
  Speaker 1: All right, let's hit verse three and verse four for
• 12:31
  Speaker 1: what the law could not do, and that it was weak.
• 12:36
  Speaker 1: Through the flesh. God did by sending his own son
• 12:41
  Speaker 1: in the likeness of sinful flesh on account of sin.
• 12:47
  Speaker 1: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteousness righteous
• 12:53
  Speaker 1: requirements of the law might be fulfilled in us, who
• 12:57
  Speaker 1: do not walk according to the flesh, but according to
• 13:04
  Speaker 1: the spirit. Amen. For what the law could not do,
• 13:16
  Speaker 1: and that it was weak through the flesh. The law
• 13:21
  Speaker 1: is holy, but it can't save me. It's like a
• 13:26
  Speaker 1: mirror that shows dirt, but it cannot wash it off.

  Speaker 1: Only Jesus, who came in the likeness of sinful flesh,
• 13:38
  Speaker 1: died for sin, condemned sin in the flesh. Amen. Praise God.

  Speaker 1: Let's put a praise right there. Hallelujah. Rules can't change
• 13:52
  Speaker 1: your heart at all, but the power of knowing Jesus,
• 13:59
  Speaker 1: only Jesus can change your heart. We live right not
• 14:05
  Speaker 1: because we're forced to, but because His spirit. Changes are desires. Ay, man,
• 14:13
  Speaker 1: have you ever experienced that? I just did that the
• 14:16
  Speaker 1: other day. Even by going through the study is helping me.
• 14:22
  Speaker 1: And there's an area where I've struggled with and that's
• 14:27
  Speaker 1: sometimes I do struggle with my fast. I'll be transparent
• 14:31
  Speaker 1: and honest. Sometimes I can do a twenty one day
• 14:36
  Speaker 1: fast and then when I try to do it again,
• 14:38
  Speaker 1: it's like it's a struggle. You know. I do physical
• 14:43
  Speaker 1: things during the day, and sometimes I'm like, you know
• 14:46
  Speaker 1: what I mean, some energy and then I'll go and
• 14:49
  Speaker 1: break my fast.
• 14:50
  Speaker 3: But just.
• 14:52
  Speaker 1: Last yesterday, actually yesterday morning, I applied the scriptures. I
• 14:57
  Speaker 1: called upon the grace of God and the spirit of
• 15:00
  Speaker 1: God to deal with that, and I felt the desire,
• 15:03
  Speaker 1: the justification. My mindset shift and changed, and I felt
• 15:08
  Speaker 1: the resolve to continue that I haven't felt in a while.
• 15:13
  Speaker 1: And this spiritual blood, this spiritual war, is serious. Don't
• 15:18
  Speaker 1: let other desires come up in your heart make you
• 15:21
  Speaker 1: think that you don't need prayer, you don't need God,
• 15:25
  Speaker 1: you don't need to study your scriptures because that's the enemy,
• 15:29
  Speaker 1: or you don't need to fast and pray or whatever.
• 15:33
  Speaker 1: Cry out to God, ask God for the grace to
• 15:37
  Speaker 1: overcome these thoughts, these desires, to overcome these patterns of sin,
• 15:43
  Speaker 1: the stubborn areas in our flesh, and watch, God help you. Amen.
• 15:48
  Speaker 1: I'm a witness. I am a witness. But to finish
• 15:54
  Speaker 1: that off, I did end up. I had to drive
• 15:57
  Speaker 1: a trailer and move some of so I did end
• 16:01
  Speaker 1: up getting something because I needed the energy. But it
• 16:06
  Speaker 1: was different. I know, it wasn't like oh, because I
• 16:09
  Speaker 1: wanted to give into the flesh just because I was hungry.
• 16:14
  Speaker 1: I didn't break the fast, but it was more so
• 16:17
  Speaker 1: just dealing with those issues. But hey, I'm still a
• 16:21
  Speaker 1: work in progress. I still asked the Lord to forgive me.
• 16:25
  Speaker 1: But I feel that that newness with his grace, and
• 16:31
  Speaker 1: I definitely want to be a good steward of the
• 16:35
  Speaker 1: grace of God. Amen. But his grace is there to help. Amen.

  Speaker 1: Let me see where were we? All right? Let's go
• 16:49
  Speaker 1: to chapter five now, I mean verse five, and it says,
• 16:58
  Speaker 1: for those who live according to the flesh, set their
• 17:01
  Speaker 1: minds on the things of the flesh. For those who
• 17:05
  Speaker 1: live according to the spirit the things of the spirit.
• 17:11
  Speaker 1: For to be carnally minded is death, but to be
• 17:15
  Speaker 1: spiritually minded is life and peace. Because a colnal mind
• 17:21
  Speaker 1: is enmity with God, for it is not subject to
• 17:26
  Speaker 1: the law of God, nor indeed can be so. Then
• 17:30
  Speaker 1: those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Wow
• 17:38
  Speaker 1: wow wow wow. Now this is good to remember when
• 17:44
  Speaker 1: we want to compromise with the world, when we think
• 17:52
  Speaker 1: we can offer up strange fire to God, when we
• 17:55
  Speaker 1: think that we can do things in our flesh in
• 17:58
  Speaker 1: order to fulfill the call and purpose of God. In
• 18:04
  Speaker 1: our lives. No, it's only through the spirit. The carnal
• 18:10
  Speaker 1: mindset is death. Remember that that is a great, a
• 18:16
  Speaker 1: great reminder. To live after the flesh is death death.
• 18:22
  Speaker 1: To live after the flesh is death. That's a tongue
• 18:26
  Speaker 1: twist right there. But to live after the spirit is
• 18:30
  Speaker 1: life and peace. The carnal mind is at war with God.
• 18:38
  Speaker 1: This is where the battle lies. What mindset are you
• 18:43
  Speaker 1: living in? Fleshly thinking brings chaos, but spirit led thinking
• 18:52
  Speaker 1: brings peace. Young people chasing that cloud, chasing likes, that's
• 19:00
  Speaker 1: flesh walking in purpose and destiny through Christ. That is
• 19:08
  Speaker 1: the spirits. Amen, that colonel, mindset is death. There's nothing
• 19:17
  Speaker 1: to play with all, right, let's go through verse nine
• 19:26
  Speaker 1: through eleven. But you are not in the flesh, but
• 19:34
  Speaker 1: in the spirit. If indeed the spirit of God dwells
• 19:39
  Speaker 1: in you, now that's a great reminder. If indeed the
• 19:44
  Speaker 1: spirit of God dwells in you, you are no longer
• 19:48
  Speaker 1: of the flesh. Now, if anyone does not have the
• 19:52
  Speaker 1: Spirit of Christ, he is not his. So that's one
• 19:57
  Speaker 1: way to tell if you are saved not. There's one
• 20:01
  Speaker 1: way to have discernment. If a person says that they're religious,
• 20:07
  Speaker 1: if they say they have a relationship with God, but
• 20:10
  Speaker 1: you see them living a life of the flesh. If
• 20:14
  Speaker 1: all they talk about is their favorite restaurant and their
• 20:17
  Speaker 1: favorite food, and all they can talk about are things
• 20:21
  Speaker 1: according to this life. And then you notice they have
• 20:25
  Speaker 1: the carnal mindset. They're always jealous or haters or envy,
• 20:28
  Speaker 1: a backbite, gossip, all these things you should have. We
• 20:34
  Speaker 1: should have discernment. You know that, Okay, this person doesn't
• 20:38
  Speaker 1: really know God. This person is not walking after the spirit.
• 20:45
  Speaker 1: A person who's walking after the spirit has love for
• 20:49
  Speaker 1: one dominated by love. Love is the dominating, dominating characteristic
• 20:54
  Speaker 1: of a person. A person walks in truth or not
• 20:58
  Speaker 1: cheating and stealing on the job. They're walking up right
• 21:03
  Speaker 1: with integrity. And so I don't know why I'm going
• 21:08
  Speaker 1: down this road, but this is something to kind of
• 21:11
  Speaker 1: help us identify, because it says right here, if you
• 21:16
  Speaker 1: do not have the spirit of God, you do not
• 21:18
  Speaker 1: belong to Christ. Now verse ten, And if Christ is

  Speaker 1: in you, the body is dead because of sin, but
• 21:28
  Speaker 1: the spirit is life because of righteousness. Hallelujah. Like if
• 21:36
  Speaker 1: the spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead
• 21:41
  Speaker 1: dwells in you, he who rises Christ from the dead,
• 21:46
  Speaker 1: will also give life to your mortal bodies. Hallelujah through
• 21:52
  Speaker 1: His Spirit who dwells in us. Come on, let's put

  Speaker 1: a praise right there. All right, let's break this down

  Speaker 1: if Christ is in you, the body is dead because

  Speaker 1: of sin, but the spirit is life because of righteousness.

  Speaker 1: And the same spirit that raised Jesus will also give
• 22:46
  Speaker 1: life to your mortal bodies. That is resurrection power. The

  Speaker 1: spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. That same spirit
• 22:59
  Speaker 1: isn't of you, That spirit is in sight of me.

  Speaker 1: Don't tell me you can't change, that you can't overcome,
• 23:10
  Speaker 1: that you can't live a life of freedom. God's Spirit
• 23:14
  Speaker 1: gives you that power. Amen. When you said that again,

  Speaker 1: do not tell me. Do not say that you cannot change,
• 23:25
  Speaker 1: or that you cannot overcome, that you cannot live a
• 23:31
  Speaker 1: life of freedom, because God's Spirit gives you the power
• 23:40
  Speaker 1: to do so. Amen. There is no excuse. You got
• 23:44
  Speaker 1: to realize the power that you have access to. Remember,
• 23:52
  Speaker 1: you now have access to the grace of God because
• 23:57
  Speaker 1: of the righteousness that has been imputed into your account.

  Speaker 1: And the way that you receive righteousness is because you
• 24:05
  Speaker 1: believe in Jesus Christ, just like the pattern of Father Abrahim.

  Speaker 1: He believed God and it was accounted unto him for righteousness. Amen,

  Speaker 1: And so you got access. Let there not be any excuses.

  Speaker 1: tear down strongholds. Normally a person will grab on to

  Speaker 1: their own minds or why they can't change and why

  Speaker 1: they are the way they are. That's a lie from

  Speaker 1: Hell to keep us caught up in the bondage that

  Speaker 1: Christ has set us free from. All right, let's go
