- 0:00Dot com. Welcome to the Daily quote, the
- 0:07podcast designed to kick start your day in a positive way.
- 0:11I'm your host, Andrew McGivern, and let's dive into today's
- 0:14quote from Orson Sweat Martin, founder of Success magazine and
- 0:19a pioneer in personal development writing.
- 0:22He once said every tomorrow has two handles.
- 0:28We can take hold of it by the handle of anxiety or by the
- 0:33handle of faith. 2 handles, same tomorrow.
- 0:38Your choice which one to grab. Martin's saying something
- 0:43profound here. Tomorrow isn't determined yet.
- 0:47It has potential, possibility. It could go many different ways,
- 0:52but how you approach it, which handle you grab, shapes what
- 0:56actually happens. The handle of anxiety says what
- 1:00if it all goes wrong? What if I fail?
- 1:05What if the worst happens? When you grab that handle, you
- 1:09approach tomorrow defensively scared, hesitant, looking for
- 1:15threats, and expecting problems. And guess what?
- 1:19You find problems because that's what you're looking for.
- 1:24That's what the anxiety handle shows you.
- 1:28The handle of faith says what if it goes right?
- 1:32What if I succeed? What if the best happens when
- 1:38you grab that handle? You approach tomorrow openly
- 1:41confident, ready, looking for opportunities and expecting
- 1:46possibilities, and you find them because that's what you're
- 1:50looking for. That's what the faith handle
- 1:53shows you. Same tomorrow, different handle,
- 1:56different experience, different outcome.
- 1:59Here's what's powerful Marden isn't saying tomorrow is
- 2:03predetermined. He's not saying just believe and
- 2:08it will work out. He's saying you get to choose
- 2:11your approach, and your approach changes what you see, how you
- 2:16act, and what becomes possible. Anxiety narrows your vision.
- 2:21You see threats, so you play defense, so you miss
- 2:25opportunities and your fears often come true.
- 2:31Faith expands your vision. You see possibilities, so you
- 2:35take chances, so you create opportunities, so your hopes
- 2:41often come true. The tomorrow hasn't changed, but
- 2:46which handle you grab determines which version of that tomorrow
- 2:49you experience. So here's the question.
- 2:54Which handle are you grabbing hold of right now?
- 2:58Are you approaching tomorrow with anxiety or with faith?
- 3:02Because the tomorrow exists either way.
- 3:07But which handle you choose determines which version of it
- 3:10you will experience. Choose the faith handle and see
- 3:15what happens. That's it for today.
- 3:18I'm Andrew McGivern, signing off for now.
- 3:21But I'll be back tomorrow, same pod time, same pod station with
- 3:30another daily quote.
