- 0:20Speaker 1: Everyone, welcome to bless this mess in the tru Crump podcast.
- 0:22Speaker 2: I don't care, here's do say Hey, s do what what?
- 0:25Speaker 2: What's going on? Distracted?
- 0:27Speaker 1: Yes, like I'm distracted. Hey, now you've messed up the
- 0:31Speaker 1: whole intro.
- 0:32Speaker 2: You messed it up?
- 0:33Speaker 1: Anyways, all right, we are back. Sorry we missed last week.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Stu had eye surgery a bit trick to me or
- 0:39Speaker 1: something like that, I can you need a dumb ass
- 0:44Speaker 1: s ectomies? Anyways, so he was down for the count
- 0:53Speaker 1: plus we had since he can't he can't lift anybody,
- 0:57Speaker 1: so like you can't lift anything over ten pounds, So
- 1:00Speaker 1: him being around the children is a bit of a
- 1:03Speaker 1: chore because he can't lift any of them because they
- 1:06Speaker 1: all weigh more than ten pounds.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Can trash, can't do a lot of things.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Yes, So I am tired because I've been.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Many vacation anyways with a lot of glaring.
- 1:16Speaker 1: So we had we had family come in to help,
- 1:20Speaker 1: and then basically we had family come in and help,
- 1:25Speaker 1: and then with the lifting, and then I've been having
- 1:28Speaker 1: to pick up a lot of the slack around the
- 1:30Speaker 1: house that I normally don't have to do. So I
- 1:31Speaker 1: am tired. Okay, so we tried. We failed. It is
- 1:36Speaker 1: what it is. So we'll have a new episode this week,
- 1:38Speaker 1: and then we're taking off for Christmas because next Thursday's Christmas.
- 1:42Speaker 1: We also have a We also have a December birthday
- 1:46Speaker 1: because our four year old was due on Christmas Day
- 1:50Speaker 1: and we had her before. But like, if you have
- 1:53Speaker 1: a children and you have December birthdays, it's terrible, okay,
- 1:58Speaker 1: because on top of everything else with then you've got
- 2:00Speaker 1: to plan a birthday party. And we don't even do
- 2:02Speaker 1: like birthday parties. We do like a meaning meaning we
- 2:06Speaker 1: don't do like these big birthday parties I never have
- 2:10Speaker 1: where we like invite a bunch of people and stuff
- 2:12Speaker 1: because frankly, everyone well no. But also for everything I've
- 2:16Speaker 1: ever seen, especially when the kids are younger, they don't care.
- 2:19Speaker 1: They usually get tired and overwhelmed and nobody's having fun.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Everybody's just screaming. So we do a little birthday at
- 2:26Speaker 1: home with just us, and it seems to work out
- 2:29Speaker 1: just fine. And I'm going to keep doing that as
- 2:30Speaker 1: long as I can get away.
- 2:31Speaker 2: With it until I get friends. I want to go
- 2:33Speaker 2: to birthdays, yes, and they realize that there's birthday parties
- 2:36Speaker 2: out there in the world.
- 2:36Speaker 1: But the thing is though, is like nobody goes to
- 2:38Speaker 1: the birthday parties anymore. So then I hear all the
- 2:40Speaker 1: time like these parents people they don't.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Once they get older then they want to go to
- 2:44Speaker 2: their friends birthday.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Part But no, what we're going to do is do
- 2:48Speaker 1: these small things where you invite one or two friends
- 2:50Speaker 1: and you do something real special as opposed.
- 2:52Speaker 2: To shoot conversations.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Okay, just to shoot the pversation. When this arises, our
- 2:59Speaker 1: old us is turning five, so we're not there yet,
- 3:02Speaker 1: and they are. They are home all the time, so
- 3:04Speaker 1: they're not in school or daycare where they would make
- 3:09Speaker 1: like little friends that they would want to, you know,
- 3:13Speaker 1: have a party.
- 3:15Speaker 2: From there to here.
- 3:17Speaker 1: We have our own daycare in the home. Actually we're
- 3:21Speaker 1: writing on daycare numbers at this point. So anyway, so
- 3:24Speaker 1: that's where we were. We want to thank everyone on Patreon.
- 3:27Speaker 1: We will have a Shoot the Pooh out this week.
- 3:30Speaker 1: We're going to try to do it. We should have
- 3:32Speaker 1: it out tomorrow or Saturday. Oh, it's going to have
- 3:34Speaker 1: to be tomorrow. And then Instagram, Facebook, TikTok follow us there.
- 3:42Speaker 1: I've been sharing, so I share a true crime recommendation
- 3:45Speaker 1: like documentary or episode recommendation every day. And then I
- 3:49Speaker 1: also been sharing what's for dinner, which also having company
- 3:52Speaker 1: over has really hindered me with that because I get
- 3:57Speaker 1: I get stressed out filming in front of people. My
- 4:00Speaker 1: brother won't be a problem. My brother's coming tomorrow, but
- 4:02Speaker 1: he won't be a problem because I already told him
- 4:04Speaker 1: my like, we didn't tell me we have a podcast.
- 4:07Speaker 1: But remember I was telling him. I was doing my
- 4:09Speaker 1: like yeah, anyways, we don't tell him I have a podcast,
- 4:12Speaker 1: but I'm like, yeah, I sure stuff on.
- 4:16Speaker 2: You know the Graham So as long as you don't
- 4:20Speaker 2: know where to look for.
- 4:20Speaker 1: It podcast, yeah, he won't know about it. He won't.
- 4:24Speaker 1: He don't think. He's so like aloof He's like be
- 4:26Speaker 1: like okay whatever. Anyways, So that's what's going on. Rate
- 4:30Speaker 1: review subscribe five stars only. We're tired. Don't please, don't
- 4:34Speaker 1: be mean.
- 4:34Speaker 2: I don't.
- 4:35Speaker 1: I know you don't, but then you tell me, and
- 4:37Speaker 1: then it always affects me, even though I try not to,
- 4:40Speaker 1: but it does.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Well, we had two good ones in.
- 4:43Speaker 1: A row, so huh, okay, anyway, so we're going to
- 4:46Speaker 1: go ahead and we are limited on time today so
- 4:48Speaker 1: we are going to go ahead and get started on
- 4:52Speaker 1: our case. We are going Arkansas. And if anybody's gonna
- 4:57Speaker 1: argue that these people are not part of of the
- 5:00Speaker 1: Southern States, based on those accents that I heard from
- 5:05Speaker 1: the people involved with the case, they are more Southern
- 5:08Speaker 1: than I am.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Okay, how was that even possible?
- 5:11Speaker 1: They heard that real country that drow Yeah, yep, all right.
- 5:18Speaker 1: So in October twelfth, nineteen ninety three, in Malvern, Arkansas,
- 5:22Speaker 1: Nancy Heath was doing some laundry for her eighteen year
- 5:24Speaker 1: old daughter Julie, trying to help her out do a
- 5:27Speaker 1: little favor for her daughter. Julie was supposed to come
- 5:30Speaker 1: by that day and pick up the laundry. However, that
- 5:32Speaker 1: evening she still hadn't shown up. Now, Julie didn't live
- 5:36Speaker 1: with her mom. She was eighteen and she had moved
- 5:39Speaker 1: out and was living with her best friend and her
- 5:41Speaker 1: best friend's husband. So Nancy was a little concerned. It
- 5:45Speaker 1: wasn't so much that she hadn't shown up. She just thought,
- 5:48Speaker 1: this is nineteen ninety three, so no cell phones and
- 5:52Speaker 1: things like that. So if someone didn't showup in eighteen
- 5:54Speaker 1: year old you're like, oh, she must have forgot to
- 5:55Speaker 1: come by and pick it up. We'll see her tomorrow. Anyways,
- 6:00Speaker 1: by the next morning, she still had not heard from Julie,
- 6:03Speaker 1: and then she found out that Julie had not shown
- 6:05Speaker 1: up at work that morning because Julie worked a couple
- 6:08Speaker 1: of part time jobs making ends meet. And so this
- 6:12Speaker 1: is when they started getting very concerned because Julie was
- 6:16Speaker 1: not the type of eighteen year old to like skip back.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Get out on her work without colin and letting them know.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Hey, yeah, so this was a real red flag. And again,
- 6:24Speaker 1: this is Malvern, Arkansas. I didn't look up the population,
- 6:27Speaker 1: but I'm pretty sure it was like around like two
- 6:29Speaker 1: or something like that. So like word got out, you know,
- 6:34Speaker 1: that Julie was did not show up at work. So
- 6:38Speaker 1: she heads over to the home where Julie is living
- 6:40Speaker 1: to see if her best friend is heard from her,
- 6:42Speaker 1: and she said no, she hadn't seen her. And she's
- 6:45Speaker 1: also pretty shocked that she's missing, because she said, hey,
- 6:47Speaker 1: she didn't come home last night. She did say that
- 6:51Speaker 1: she remember Julie mentioning something about a new boyfriend, and
- 6:56Speaker 1: she said, oh, yeah, she's left a phone number. She
- 6:58Speaker 1: was going to visit the boyfriend at his family's lake house,
- 7:02Speaker 1: and so she had left a phone number, and so
- 7:05Speaker 1: they tried calling that phone number, but nobody answers. So
- 7:08Speaker 1: at this point they've decided to go ahead and go
- 7:10Speaker 1: to the police to file a report for a missing
- 7:13Speaker 1: person because they didn't know where this lake house was either.
- 7:15Speaker 1: They just knew it was in Hot Springs, but other
- 7:18Speaker 1: than that, they had a phone number and that's it.
- 7:22Speaker 2: The authorities in Malvern were familiar with Jewelie because this
- 7:27Speaker 2: is a small town. Everybody knows everybody if you're from
- 7:30Speaker 2: one of the smaller towns. I mean, I was from
- 7:32Speaker 2: a small town, but not one where everybody knew everybody.
- 7:35Speaker 1: No, there's these small I'm going to look up what
- 7:37Speaker 1: the population was, because there's small towns and then there's
- 7:40Speaker 1: small small towns.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Everybody does actually know or is acquainted with somebody in town. Yeah,
- 7:49Speaker 2: she drove a black Camaro through town. Everybody would see
- 7:51Speaker 2: her driving through town, So she's everybody knows her, they
- 7:55Speaker 2: know what she drives, they see her around town. She's
- 7:58Speaker 2: just a regular local girl. She didn't get in any
- 8:00Speaker 2: trouble or anything like that.
- 8:02Speaker 1: All right. I looked up the population of Malvern in
- 8:04Speaker 1: nineteen ninety, which was around this time, it was niney
- 8:08Speaker 1: nine hundred and thirteen, so that's pretty.
- 8:10Speaker 2: You don't know everybody then, No, but ten thousand people.
- 8:15Speaker 1: The thing was like, it's growing town. It's increased to
- 8:18Speaker 1: nearly ten thousand. I'm like, it was niney, nine hundred
- 8:21Speaker 1: and thirteen in nineteen ninety and in twenty twenty five
- 8:24Speaker 1: it's approaching ten thousand plus. It's not growing that rapidly.
- 8:30Speaker 2: It's not exponential growth.
- 8:31Speaker 1: No, like it's approaching ten thousand. I was like, it
- 8:35Speaker 1: was approaching ten thousand in nine to me, nine hundred
- 8:38Speaker 1: and thirteen is approaching ten thousand in nineteen ninety. People leave,
- 8:44Speaker 1: People die, Yeah, people do die.
- 8:47Speaker 2: That it happens.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Yes.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Authorities asked the family where they believe Julie might be.
- 8:53Speaker 2: As Karen mentioned, she had a new boyfriend that had
- 8:57Speaker 2: a family lake house up in the Hot spring are.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Very nice area, very nice. We went to the National
- 9:04Speaker 1: Park is actually the the town basically because they have
- 9:08Speaker 1: all the hot springs. They got these bathhouses. We got
- 9:11Speaker 1: to go back there now because we have so whenever
- 9:14Speaker 1: we started, we stopped buying like shot glasses and things
- 9:16Speaker 1: like that when we're traveling and we buy ornaments. So
- 9:20Speaker 1: this year I've learned my lesson.
- 9:23Speaker 2: What lesson is that, Karen?
- 9:25Speaker 1: We put all the glass ones, hide them underneath all
- 9:27Speaker 1: the other ones that the children are allowed to hang up,
- 9:29Speaker 1: and then we'll put them on the tree later after
- 9:31Speaker 1: they go to sleep. Why is that, Karen, Because we
- 9:33Speaker 1: did lose our Hot Springs National Park ornament this year.
- 9:37Speaker 1: The three year old dropped it. Yes, we did not
- 9:42Speaker 1: get upset with him. We just were like, stop because
- 9:47Speaker 1: of the glass. But we'll just have to go back.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Stop moving.
- 9:51Speaker 1: Nobody move and they always move. After you say that,
- 9:55Speaker 1: You're like you're gonna slice your foot open.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Stop.
- 9:58Speaker 1: So, yes, I have learned. So remember we pack everything up.
- 10:01Speaker 1: All the glass ones are going and getting hidden underneath
- 10:03Speaker 1: the other ones, and then we'll do those ourselves.
- 10:06Speaker 2: I don't want to just tell them there's none left,
- 10:08Speaker 2: and then we'll hang them up after they got to bed.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Yes, high up or they can't touch them anyway. So
- 10:14Speaker 1: we do have to go.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Back to Hot Hot Springs.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, that was where that lady tried to charge
- 10:20Speaker 1: me so much to send that elephant back. Remember. Oh
- 10:23Speaker 1: then I got mad and I said, screw you. You
- 10:25Speaker 1: can keep it. I left it. We left an elephant
- 10:28Speaker 1: a little and it wasn't when they were overly attached
- 10:30Speaker 1: to it was like a new gift that they had
- 10:33Speaker 1: just gotten. Yeah, and so it's like I could go
- 10:37Speaker 1: get it from Target for like ten dollars to replace it. Well,
- 10:41Speaker 1: I left at the Airbnb. So I'm like, the lady's like, okay,
- 10:44Speaker 1: I'll send it back. And we had left something in
- 10:46Speaker 1: Boston one time, a shirt, and the lady sent it
- 10:48Speaker 1: back and it was like five or six bucks. It
- 10:50Speaker 1: was like a flat rate envelope type of thing. So
- 10:54Speaker 1: this this stuff, the stuffed animal was small. It could
- 10:56Speaker 1: have fit into one of those flat rate envelopes. She
- 10:59Speaker 1: tries to get me gay who give her twenty five
- 11:01Speaker 1: dollars or something like that, something crazy, And so I
- 11:04Speaker 1: was like, no, you can just keep the elephant. I
- 11:06Speaker 1: was like, this is ridiculous, like charging me twenty five
- 11:08Speaker 1: dollars to there's no way that costs tot Yes, there's
- 11:12Speaker 1: no way that costs twenty five dollars to send it back.
- 11:15Speaker 1: I think she was trying to Michael A. Bucker make
- 11:17Speaker 1: some money off of it. So then I removed my review,
- 11:20Speaker 1: my nice review from her thing.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Didn't put a bad one, just take it. I didn't
- 11:24Speaker 2: take to.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Put a bad one. I just took it. Instead of
- 11:26Speaker 1: saying you were trying to NIKEL and Diemy over this
- 11:28Speaker 1: freaking uh little stuffed animal and up charge me to
- 11:32Speaker 1: make some money. And anyways, because that's part of like
- 11:36Speaker 1: being in an airbnb, which I don't. We're not doing airbnbs
- 11:40Speaker 1: anymore anyways, because they're ridiculous. Anyways, We're not. The fees
- 11:45Speaker 1: are outrageous, they're dirty. And then part of the thing
- 11:49Speaker 1: was is that you're supposed to be like staying at
- 11:51Speaker 1: someone's house, so you would expect maybe a little bit
- 11:53Speaker 1: more hospitality, not overcharging you for a stuff.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Anyways, So pull material care.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Yes, okay, anyways, we okay, stop telling me that, Stewart.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I'm going to tell you you're getting all my nerves.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Good.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Okay, anyways, back to the story. But you should definitely
- 12:09Speaker 1: if you live in the areas you like within when
- 12:11Speaker 1: I say a couple hours, you should check out Hot
- 12:13Speaker 1: Springs and go one of those bathhouses and stuff. Get
- 12:16Speaker 1: our elephant, for get our elephant, get our ornament, send
- 12:19Speaker 1: it back to us. Yeah, something like that.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Now from Malvern Hot Springs is about twenty minutes away.
- 12:26Speaker 2: You took two seventy if you're from the area, and
- 12:28Speaker 2: it was a straight shot up the I guess that's
- 12:31Speaker 2: a state highway to the Hot Springs.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Yeah, Stuart, I guess it's a state highway. What other
- 12:36Speaker 1: highway would it be?
- 12:37Speaker 2: An interstate highway?
- 12:38Speaker 1: It's not an interstate high Bously, it's not. That's not
- 12:41Speaker 1: one of the numbers. And the ones that run up
- 12:43Speaker 1: and down are end in five.
- 12:47Speaker 2: How do you know what in an east or west thing?
- 12:51Speaker 1: It's well they okay, well, there's not an interstate two
- 12:53Speaker 1: hundred and seventy either. It's ten, twenty, third, forty, go on.
- 13:03Speaker 1: It's not go on and anyways, at that level, even
- 13:06Speaker 1: east and west, if it wasn't interstate, it would be
- 13:08Speaker 1: probably thirty or something like that running there, because twenty
- 13:13Speaker 1: runs through Louisiana and stuff, so your next one up
- 13:16Speaker 1: would be thirty. Anyways, the more.
- 13:20Speaker 2: You know, quick quick geography map lesson YEP. Investigators went
- 13:27Speaker 2: over to Hot Springs to see if they could locate Julie. Meanwhile,
- 13:32Speaker 2: around town, word got out pretty quickly that Julie was missing,
- 13:36Speaker 2: and everyone jumped to the worst possible conclusion, but they
- 13:41Speaker 2: all jumped in the cars. They started driving around town,
- 13:44Speaker 2: hitting the back roads, seeing if she had broken down somewhere,
- 13:47Speaker 2: if they could find her car, if they could find her.
- 13:50Speaker 2: There was no sign of Julie though, and the community
- 13:53Speaker 2: was being becoming alarmed that their worst inclinations were going
- 13:59Speaker 2: to come true. They also headed up to Hot Springs,
- 14:03Speaker 2: where they were unable to locate Julie because they were
- 14:06Speaker 2: driving around looking for police.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Well, they drove around the TWOCE Highway two seventy to
- 14:11Speaker 1: see if they can find her on the find her
- 14:13Speaker 1: on the side of the road or car broke down,
- 14:14Speaker 1: something like that.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Police did speak to her boyfriend and he claims he
- 14:19Speaker 2: hadn't seen Julie in a week or so, and that
- 14:21Speaker 2: he did go to his family's lake house the evening
- 14:24Speaker 2: that they suspect Julie was going to go meet him,
- 14:28Speaker 2: but Julie never came there, and that he was with
- 14:31Speaker 2: his sister and that him and his sister had watched
- 14:33Speaker 2: some TV investigator seemed suspicious of the boyfriend because he
- 14:38Speaker 2: seemed pretty nonchalant about his girlfriend just not coming up,
- 14:43Speaker 2: not being around. She's just missing.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Well, I don't know how serious they were either, So
- 14:48Speaker 1: I'd just like to say, so I did look up
- 14:51Speaker 1: Hot Springs. It is like northwest of Malvern. But what's
- 14:57Speaker 1: so funny is I thirty runs almost through Malverne, so
- 15:00Speaker 1: I was correct on guessing which interest ran through there.
- 15:06Speaker 2: So well, I will give you a pat on the
- 15:08Speaker 2: back as soon as this is over.
- 15:09Speaker 1: It's a real pretty area up there too, it is. Yeah, okay.
- 15:13Speaker 1: So on October fourteenth, investigators received a call saying that
- 15:16Speaker 1: they had located Julie's vehicle. So, on October eleventh, the
- 15:20Speaker 1: night that she had gone missing, a deputy had the
- 15:23Speaker 1: car towed around eleven eleven thirty pm. In that timeframe.
- 15:27Speaker 1: The deputy didn't really think anything of it. He just
- 15:30Speaker 1: thought it was like a car abandoned on the side
- 15:32Speaker 1: of the highway that he didn't even can't you give
- 15:36Speaker 1: her an orange sticker first and then come back the
- 15:38Speaker 1: next day?
- 15:39Speaker 2: One would think, well, you just got to.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Toe it like that, that's right doing. I mean, sam
- 15:45Speaker 1: car was broke down. I thought they usually put the
- 15:46Speaker 1: sticker with the date and then they passed back by.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Yeah, because I've been in Louisiana driving up and down
- 15:51Speaker 2: the roads, I'll see that same damn car. Yes, for
- 15:54Speaker 2: like a week.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Yeah, he was like, get the fuck off.
- 15:57Speaker 2: My rope yep towing that shit now.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Yeah. So it was found on that highway to seventy,
- 16:03Speaker 1: heading up to two Hot Springs. However, it was pointed
- 16:06Speaker 1: back towards Malvern, so it looked like something happened. Maybe
- 16:10Speaker 1: she was heading up there and then she turned.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Around around the head back down south.
- 16:14Speaker 1: So southeast, yes, Stuart.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Southeast, Well, we're given map directions. I thought.
- 16:23Speaker 1: The southeast, yes, okay, So it was it was actually
- 16:28Speaker 1: the tow truck driver that realized that he had Julie's
- 16:32Speaker 1: missing vehicle because he's looking at news reports. So he's
- 16:35Speaker 1: the one that contacted police and they spoke to the deputy.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Investigators head to that impound yard to inspect the vehicle.
- 16:41Speaker 1: They did find that the vehicle was having some trouble.
- 16:44Speaker 1: It was low on water, it was low on a
- 16:46Speaker 1: a freeze. This would indicate that the car car probably
- 16:49Speaker 1: overheated and that's how it ended up on the side
- 16:51Speaker 1: of the road. So they're thinking maybe she was headed
- 16:53Speaker 1: to see the boyfriend. She starts having trouble, She's like,
- 16:56Speaker 1: I better get back, get sacked and funny and then
- 16:58Speaker 1: it breaks down over heat and she's stuck again. Nineteen
- 17:02Speaker 1: ninety three. No wait, yeah, what are you going to do?
- 17:07Speaker 1: So they look for any other signs of struggle, any blood,
- 17:10Speaker 1: anything broken, and nothing is out of order on the car.
- 17:13Speaker 1: I mean the doors were even locked as well, indicating
- 17:16Speaker 1: that she willingly left the car. She locked it up
- 17:19Speaker 1: like she would be coming back to it. So they're
- 17:22Speaker 1: thinking maybe she had gone with someone she knew, or
- 17:24Speaker 1: someone had picked her up to help her, or something
- 17:26Speaker 1: like that. They did find a receipt for around nine
- 17:29Speaker 1: pm at a fast food restaurant and then around that
- 17:32Speaker 1: same time a gas station, so they do know that
- 17:35Speaker 1: something happened to Julie between around that nine pm and
- 17:39Speaker 1: eleven pm timeframe when the car was towed again. He waited,
- 17:43Speaker 1: It wasn't even two hours and he was out there
- 17:45Speaker 1: and he had that car toad. That's wrong.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Well, at least they got a time frame now and
- 17:49Speaker 2: once she came up, I know.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Yeah, otherwise it would just be still sitting out there
- 17:52Speaker 1: onside the road. But they might have found it faster
- 17:54Speaker 1: instead of Well, I guess it was only a day
- 17:58Speaker 1: or two later. Yeah, still still.
- 18:00Speaker 2: Tow truck drivers.
- 18:01Speaker 1: On top off, your car breaks down, and then you're
- 18:03Speaker 1: already being toad. I mean that's hard. You're already gonna
- 18:06Speaker 1: have to pay for the card to be fixed. Now
- 18:07Speaker 1: you got to go pay to get it out of
- 18:09Speaker 1: the impound lot.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Yes, police head to the fast food restaurant and the
- 18:15Speaker 2: gas station where they had the receipts from, but they
- 18:17Speaker 2: don't get much more information.
- 18:19Speaker 1: We do know she ordered tater tots and a doctor pepper,
- 18:22Speaker 1: so that sounds good.
- 18:24Speaker 2: The girl that worked at the fast food restaurant did
- 18:27Speaker 2: go to school with Julie, so she was familiar with
- 18:30Speaker 2: her and remembered her being there, and all she remembered
- 18:34Speaker 2: was that she was dressed up real nice with makeup,
- 18:36Speaker 2: So that supports the story that she was going to
- 18:39Speaker 2: visit her new boyfriend.
- 18:41Speaker 1: Yeah, and she said she specifically remembered how nice Julie looked,
- 18:44Speaker 1: because she didn't normally wear makeup to whenever she was
- 18:47Speaker 1: at school. It wasn't like a thing. And she said
- 18:49Speaker 1: she remembered noting how nice she looked.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Now, no one at the gas station remember saying her
- 18:55Speaker 2: at all.
- 18:55Speaker 1: It seemed like a backhanded thing than to be like, oh,
- 18:57Speaker 1: she looked nice today.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Yeah, and she looks pretty homely, but.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Today up sound like a little bit bitchy.
- 19:08Speaker 2: The search parties continue with no sign of Julie. No
- 19:11Speaker 2: one had heard from her or seen seen her in
- 19:14Speaker 2: almost a week. They would finally get some new information,
- 19:17Speaker 2: but it would be unfortunate, and that came on October eighteenth,
- 19:22Speaker 2: hunter reported finding human remains out in the woods. Investigators
- 19:26Speaker 2: head to the scene, but they already and they're already
- 19:29Speaker 2: expecting to be Julie because she's the only missing person
- 19:33Speaker 2: they have in that area at that time.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Yeah, so if it was somebody else, it would have
- 19:37Speaker 1: been a completely that's all happened here. They arrive on
- 19:41Speaker 1: the scene and immediately they see red hair, which Julie
- 19:44Speaker 1: had red hair, and so the investigators they know this
- 19:47Speaker 1: is most likely her. It was clear that she had
- 19:49Speaker 1: a large slit across her throat. She was wearing clothes,
- 19:53Speaker 1: and it did match the description that her friend and
- 19:56Speaker 1: mother gave for what she was wearing that day that
- 19:58Speaker 1: she went missing. However, the clothes were put on like improperly.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Some of the shirt, the shirt was inside out, things
- 20:05Speaker 1: were unzipped, indicating that she might have been undressed. At
- 20:08Speaker 1: some point and then redressed by someone or herself in
- 20:11Speaker 1: a hurry or something like that. They did interview the
- 20:14Speaker 1: hunter that found Julie. He lived about five miles from
- 20:17Speaker 1: where she was found. However, they were able to verify
- 20:20Speaker 1: that this was a He said, this was like a
- 20:22Speaker 1: normal place. He came out and spotted what did he
- 20:25Speaker 1: scouted for for buck? Stew scouted for buck. He was
- 20:31Speaker 1: dressed in the proper attire for that. And they were
- 20:34Speaker 1: able to talk to neighbors and stuff and say, oh, yeah,
- 20:36Speaker 1: this is old rickety Bob. He's out here.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Every season of Arkansas Deer Hunters.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Well, that was the thing that they were concerned about
- 20:44Speaker 1: someone coming in a stranger and picking her up or something,
- 20:49Speaker 1: because it was at that time where they did have
- 20:51Speaker 1: a huge influx of people coming in for hunting season.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Yes, so that was a concern.
- 20:57Speaker 2: A bunch of people getting on a lease and had
- 21:00Speaker 2: out there to go, yeah, go do some hunting in
- 21:03Speaker 2: ar Kansas, YEP. Julie's body was processed by the medical examiner.
- 21:09Speaker 2: They did find indications that she had been raped, but
- 21:12Speaker 2: that she had put up a serious fight. They did
- 21:15Speaker 2: find that the cause of death was her actual throat
- 21:18Speaker 2: being slit. Also, whenever they were undressing her, they did
- 21:22Speaker 2: find that her underwear and bra were inside out and
- 21:25Speaker 2: that they were pulled to the side. This would suggest
- 21:29Speaker 2: that somebody had dressed her after the fact. Now that
- 21:33Speaker 2: they had more information on what happened and Julie, they
- 21:35Speaker 2: were still struggling to find her killer. They had a
- 21:38Speaker 2: few leads, including a man that worked with Julie that
- 21:40Speaker 2: seemed to have a crush on her, as well as
- 21:43Speaker 2: a warrant for this separate, separate people.
- 21:48Speaker 1: We don't want to throw that guy. There was just
- 21:50Speaker 1: a guy that had a crush on her at work
- 21:51Speaker 1: that they were like, yeah, he's kind of like infatuated
- 21:54Speaker 1: with her, that they looked into. And then separately there
- 21:57Speaker 1: was a rapist in the community with the warrant out.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Yes. However, both of these leads did not pan out.
- 22:05Speaker 2: They did finally receive a clue from a pastor in town,
- 22:08Speaker 2: and he came forward a couple days after Julie was discovered.
- 22:12Speaker 2: He told investigators that a man had come in and
- 22:15Speaker 2: express expressed concern that he would be charged with the
- 22:18Speaker 2: kidnapping and the murder of Julie. When investigators asked him
- 22:22Speaker 2: what day this person came in, the pastor told him
- 22:25Speaker 2: that this was said on October thirteenth. This date would
- 22:29Speaker 2: have been before they found Julie's body. So this is
- 22:32Speaker 2: a huge red flag to investigators.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Yeah, this isn't like you know, like how they'll have
- 22:37Speaker 1: false confessions or people just try and to insert them.
- 22:40Speaker 1: So this was before she was discovered, so it had
- 22:43Speaker 1: to so whoever.
- 22:44Speaker 2: This is new she was kidnapped and murdered. Yes, before
- 22:47Speaker 2: she was found. Police asked, well, who is this guy?
- 22:52Speaker 2: Do you know him? And he's like, why, yes, I do.
- 22:54Speaker 2: The man's name is Eric Nance. They asked the pastor
- 22:57Speaker 2: if he knows where Eric is at this time, tells
- 23:00Speaker 2: him that, yes, I do. He just checked himself into
- 23:03Speaker 2: the state mental hospital. Wasn't there that mental hospital right
- 23:08Speaker 2: there when we were walking around right there? Probably it was?
- 23:14Speaker 2: There was that institution right there.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Oh yeah, there was an institution right by where we
- 23:19Speaker 1: were staying. Hot Springs is like, okay, hots, I will
- 23:23Speaker 1: forewarn you. Hot Springs is a cool little town. However,
- 23:26Speaker 1: you're like one block away from pure anarchy. Yes, and
- 23:31Speaker 1: we did stay in a very old house and it
- 23:33Speaker 1: was a bit sketchy. There was that that institution right there.
- 23:40Speaker 1: So you know we're adventurers. You know, we just.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Put ourselves at risk our children.
- 23:46Speaker 1: It's fine, So we can have an old home to
- 23:49Speaker 1: stay in. I have a bone to pick with this pastor.
- 23:54Speaker 1: You have some crazy person who you know apparently has
- 23:59Speaker 1: mental health issue.
- 24:00Speaker 2: You're not a Catholic. Praise that that was told this
- 24:02Speaker 2: in confession. Yes, you're not under no obligation.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Well, I don't even care if you were. I don't
- 24:06Speaker 1: even care about any of that. You you need to go.
- 24:08Speaker 1: If you have someone that says they kidnapped and murdered somebody.
- 24:11Speaker 2: I didn't say he did. He just said he was
- 24:13Speaker 2: concerned he'd be charged with.
- 24:14Speaker 1: It, and he was mental has mental health issues, and
- 24:17Speaker 1: you just let him run about the community for the
- 24:19Speaker 1: next five days. This is not good, Like we need
- 24:24Speaker 1: to do better, okay, pastor, Yes, pasture, I don't know pastor.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Pastor, pastor. I never had a pastor.
- 24:34Speaker 1: I had a pastor anyways.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Not a pastor.
- 24:38Speaker 1: No, no, But that reminds me of the real housewives
- 24:44Speaker 1: of someone else.
- 24:45Speaker 2: From someone that says ideal instead of idea, you share
- 24:48Speaker 2: getting nitpicky on somebody.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Well, that's fine. Rules are for thee, not for me. Okay,
- 24:55Speaker 1: so uh Tamra said when she was found religion on
- 24:59Speaker 1: the show, And when I say she found religion, I
- 25:01Speaker 1: used it loosely. She was like a lot of her
- 25:04Speaker 1: behaviors were not very Christian. But who am I to judge?
- 25:09Speaker 2: Who are you judge?
- 25:10Speaker 1: Well, you put yourself on a reality TV show. I
- 25:12Speaker 1: am here judge.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Evidently pastor and pastor different things.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Anyways, she said pastor, and I remember I think it
- 25:18Speaker 1: was Heather Debro, which of course it would be, was
- 25:21Speaker 1: like a pastor or or Vicky or something. Maybe Vicky
- 25:24Speaker 1: said it. Anyways, that she was like real judgie about
- 25:27Speaker 1: the her same pasture. All right, Investigators head over su.
- 25:33Speaker 1: You know I always got a real housewife, loaded or
- 25:37Speaker 1: ready to go. They live rent free in my head.
- 25:41Speaker 1: All right, let's get back on tracks to stop distracting
- 25:44Speaker 1: me with rewives, Well my fault, all right, So investigators
- 25:48Speaker 1: head over to the mental hospital to talk with Eric.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Eric immediately shuts down any conversations with investigators and he
- 25:55Speaker 1: asked for an attorney as well as his brother. Investigators
- 25:59Speaker 1: head over to Eric's brother's house to discuss the case
- 26:02Speaker 1: with him to see if he has spoken to his
- 26:04Speaker 1: brother about this or if he knows anything. So the
- 26:07Speaker 1: brother did remember Eric having car trouble that night. He
- 26:10Speaker 1: said he remembers heading out to help his brother with
- 26:12Speaker 1: a flat tire. Now, the brother points out they were like, hey,
- 26:16Speaker 1: can you show us where his car broke down, and
- 26:19Speaker 1: so he points it out on a map where he
- 26:21Speaker 1: found his brother's truck and it was only a few
- 26:22Speaker 1: hundred yards from where Julie's body was found. So they
- 26:26Speaker 1: asked the brother how Eric had called him, and he
- 26:29Speaker 1: said it was from a mini mart payphone down the road.
- 26:33Speaker 1: So they head over to that little mini mart to
- 26:35Speaker 1: talk to the attendant there and she does remember seeing
- 26:38Speaker 1: Eric and she was familiar with him, so she said
- 26:41Speaker 1: that she did notice that he came in with no shoes.
- 26:44Speaker 1: He had pants that were like wet from being in
- 26:49Speaker 1: the woods or whatever, and that was notable to her
- 26:53Speaker 1: that he came in looking like that disheveled. Yes, he
- 26:56Speaker 1: was disheveled, And she also said he looked flustered.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Oh we got disheveled and fluff Yes.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Yes, a disheveled, flustered person. He said that his car
- 27:05Speaker 1: had broken down and that's what he was coming to
- 27:07Speaker 1: uh In to do was to call his brother to
- 27:10Speaker 1: get some help.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Police are able to get a search warrant for Eric's truck.
- 27:16Speaker 2: They could tell that the truck had been freshly cleaned.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Was some cleaning product maybe, yes.
- 27:21Speaker 1: They could smell the cleaning Yes, they could smell Christmas.
- 27:26Speaker 1: It's October. Just trying to put out there that you
- 27:31Speaker 1: might get cleaning product for Christmas.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Some car cleaning product. Maybe they could smell the cleaning
- 27:36Speaker 2: product inside the vehicle. However, when they pulled out the
- 27:40Speaker 2: light and the what the light and the.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Aluminum, Oh, that was a type of like the light
- 27:46Speaker 1: with the aluminole like the to light up the blood,
- 27:50Speaker 1: not the light in the illuminum.
- 27:51Speaker 2: The alum in I did not read ahead. They found
- 27:55Speaker 2: large amounts of blood in the seat, like in the cushion.
- 28:00Speaker 2: They continued pulling evidence from the vehicle and they found
- 28:03Speaker 2: a pubic hair that they could send off for testing.
- 28:06Speaker 2: With all this information, Eric folds like a cheap Walmart
- 28:10Speaker 2: lawn chair, tells investigators that he accidentally stabbed her.
- 28:14Speaker 1: You're gonna have to start saying a cheap Timu lawn
- 28:16Speaker 1: chair because Walmart's actually the nicer stuff now compared to
- 28:20Speaker 1: like this cheap shit you get from Sheen and Timu.
- 28:23Speaker 1: I don't order any of it any I ordered.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Walmart probably has a lot better lawyers to call us
- 28:28Speaker 2: and tell us to cease and assist as well.
- 28:30Speaker 1: Yes, but tim Wu's probably listening right now, though.
- 28:35Speaker 2: They might be because you loaded crap on your I didn't.
- 28:38Speaker 1: I know.
- 28:39Speaker 2: So the Chinese government knows everything.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Okay, that's fine, but Tu, the Chinese government is sketchy okay,
- 28:49Speaker 1: and Timu is sketchy, and they you can get extra
- 28:52Speaker 1: percentage off if you download the app on your phone.
- 28:55Speaker 1: So the one time I did order stuff, I didn't
- 28:57Speaker 1: download the app because I'm like, you're not gonna get
- 28:58Speaker 1: me with that, But I still did offer my address.
- 29:03Speaker 1: I think I paid with paypals so i'd have some
- 29:04Speaker 1: layer of protection in their stew. But when I got
- 29:08Speaker 1: the stuff, it has that like chemically smelled.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Was that that rug you ordered?
- 29:12Speaker 1: Yes, hey, it's held up. That was one of the
- 29:15Speaker 1: nicer things.
- 29:16Speaker 2: You were like, I ain't paying full fare for this.
- 29:18Speaker 1: No, they wanted ridiculous bullshit money for some of this stuff. Though.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Can I finish telling the story? I guess, are you sure?
- 29:26Speaker 1: Yes?
- 29:28Speaker 2: Yes? Eric tells investigators that he accidentally stabbed her. I
- 29:33Speaker 2: don't know how he tripped the knife on was in
- 29:35Speaker 2: his hands.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Well, he's going to explain it, stew If he is.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Not going to explain it sufficient, I mean.
- 29:39Speaker 1: He's going to explain what he means by accidentally.
- 29:42Speaker 2: He said he had pulled over to help Julie, and
- 29:45Speaker 2: she saw his knife, panicked and began kicking him, and
- 29:49Speaker 2: that's when he stabbed her in the neck accidentally. Investigators
- 29:53Speaker 2: are not buying this story. And he was arrested and
- 29:57Speaker 2: charged with capital murder.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Kara, Yes, And then they were able to send that
- 30:03Speaker 1: pubic hair off and like back then. Of course they
- 30:07Speaker 1: didn't have DNA and stuff with that, but they were
- 30:08Speaker 1: able to like do like under a microscope and compare
- 30:11Speaker 1: and they could bring it back to.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Which way now is not scientifically proven anymore. Okay, I
- 30:18Speaker 2: don't know scopic hero follicles.
- 30:20Speaker 1: I don't know the full testing that they did, Steward.
- 30:22Speaker 1: They just said they were able to compare it and
- 30:24Speaker 1: it was it doesn't matter.
- 30:25Speaker 2: He did it. It was similar Julie.
- 30:27Speaker 1: He did it. He did it?
- 30:28Speaker 2: Are we sure?
- 30:29Speaker 1: Yes? So anyway, so then he tried to uh, they
- 30:34Speaker 1: found out from the sister later on that he had
- 30:36Speaker 1: tried to get her to discard some of the evidence
- 30:39Speaker 1: and things like that, and then he he had told
- 30:43Speaker 1: them a similar story, I believe, and so during his
- 30:45Speaker 1: trial he tried to get he used the same story
- 30:48Speaker 1: he was trying to use. The defense was trying to
- 30:49Speaker 1: use the accidental stabbing of her and everything like.
- 30:54Speaker 2: That, an accidental throat sliding.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Yes, accidental throat sliding. But it obviously did not pan
- 31:02Speaker 1: out for him, and he had been he had actually
- 31:06Speaker 1: been released. He had beat two women in Oklahoma, and
- 31:09Speaker 1: he had just been released like not too long before,
- 31:13Speaker 1: and so whenever he went on trial for this one,
- 31:15Speaker 1: they actually went for the death penalty and he was
- 31:19Speaker 1: found guilty and sentenced to death, and they actually put
- 31:22Speaker 1: him to death because they were like, this guy is
- 31:25Speaker 1: like a.
- 31:25Speaker 2: Violent offender person.
- 31:27Speaker 1: Yes, he shouldn't have been let out after he beat
- 31:30Speaker 1: the two people in Oklahoma.
- 31:33Speaker 2: But should have got his twenty thirty years back then
- 31:36Speaker 2: for that one, yes, and he wouldn't have been out
- 31:38Speaker 2: to kill George.
- 31:39Speaker 1: I think he was one of those things where he
- 31:40Speaker 1: was released early due to overcrowding or something like that.
- 31:43Speaker 1: You know it is.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Then he really got this guy that was selling some
- 31:47Speaker 2: fake Louis Vauton bags in the parking lot. We got
- 31:50Speaker 2: to make room to get him in there. So we're
- 31:52Speaker 2: gonna let this vile and offender out.
- 31:55Speaker 1: Yeah. Back then, I remember it was. It was like
- 31:57Speaker 1: late eighties or early nineties. They had a lot of
- 32:01Speaker 1: that overcrowding bs that they were letting people out. In
- 32:04Speaker 1: Texas too. There's you hear a lot a lot of
- 32:06Speaker 1: people that were very violent and they were let out
- 32:09Speaker 1: and then they recommitted.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Yeah, because at Texas you didn't even used to be
- 32:12Speaker 2: able to carry a handgun. That came about after the
- 32:16Speaker 2: If anybody's listening to this, After the Loobies, there was
- 32:19Speaker 2: lots of testimony before Texas is like, all right, everybody
- 32:22Speaker 2: can carry guns again. Okay, the Loubi's massacre, No, because
- 32:27Speaker 2: the one lady who was there with her parents, her
- 32:30Speaker 2: gun was out in the car because she wasn't licensed
- 32:32Speaker 2: to carry it in the Lobies. So she would have
- 32:36Speaker 2: she might have taken care of business had she not
- 32:39Speaker 2: been abidened by the law and had her gun in
- 32:41Speaker 2: the Loubies.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Okay, well we don't we don't know what would have happened.
- 32:45Speaker 2: But I'm just saying she would have had it in there. Okay,
- 32:48Speaker 2: things could have ended differently.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Anyways, he was there, was I was looking.
- 32:57Speaker 2: You don't sound certain.
- 32:58Speaker 1: He was put to death in He was put to
- 33:03Speaker 1: death on November twenty eight, two thousand and five, and
- 33:08Speaker 1: his last meal was two bacon cheeseburgers, French fries, two
- 33:14Speaker 1: pikes of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, and two
- 33:17Speaker 1: Coca colas. He made no last statement. It was lethal injection.
- 33:21Speaker 1: He did have a stay order for temporarily by Justice
- 33:28Speaker 1: Clarence Thomas to give him more time to review the case,
- 33:33Speaker 1: but that stay was vacated and also appears.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Was it a mental thing, like they were going to
- 33:38Speaker 2: try and say he was mentally unstable.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Well, he did go check himself in the mental hospital,
- 33:41Speaker 1: but I don't know if he was mentally unwell or
- 33:43Speaker 1: if he just did that to try to Yes, he
- 33:46Speaker 1: might have just been. He might have just been a.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Terrible craft motherfucker. Well he was a craft. He was
