- 1:28SPEAKER_05: Hi guys, welcome back to Spooker Anarchy.
- 1:31SPEAKER_05: Today's episode is very special to me because I have been very fortunate lately and I've discovered so many beautiful new startup brands.
- 1:41SPEAKER_05: I really don't like calling them indie brands because I think it's like a misnomer.
- 1:45SPEAKER_05: It's like indie luxury brands, and I've just been just obsessed.
- 1:49SPEAKER_05: And this is definitely one of those brands.
- 1:51SPEAKER_05: I'm so honored to be hosting them.
- 1:53SPEAKER_05: Um I want to introduce you guys to the co-founders of Eloisia uh skincare, Veronica Conicky and Gigi uh Benet Benitez.
- 2:04SPEAKER_05: Sorry.
- 2:05SPEAKER_05: Benitez.
- 2:06SPEAKER_05: Welcome to the show, guys.
- 2:07SPEAKER_05: Thank you for having us.
- 2:09SPEAKER_05: Oh, it's such a pleasure to be here.
- 2:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I'm so glad you guys are here.
- 2:14SPEAKER_05: And I'm so glad we made this work because honestly, like when I saw your brand, it was just something I came across and I was like, oh, it looks divine, it looks amazing, and I just can't wait to learn about it.
- 2:25SPEAKER_05: So maybe uh Veronica, you could get us started started because I really want to learn about both of you and how you guys uh came up with the idea, where it all began, and just you know, walk us down memory lane.
- 2:37SPEAKER_03: Thank you very much for that.
- 2:38SPEAKER_03: Yes, we start we launched Aloysia Beauty in October of 2019, and we founded it together of a group of friends, Gigi Benitas, who has been my friend for the last 15, 16 years.
- 2:55SPEAKER_03: Um, and Nicole Levine and Chrissy Kling.
- 2:59SPEAKER_03: We are the four co-founders.
- 3:01SPEAKER_03: We partnered with a laboratory in Korea to develop and bring to market our line of clean skincare that is inspired and based on Korean, Korean philosophy and Korean skincare.
- 3:16SPEAKER_03: Now, our formulations are are are what is most dear to us and what what we are most proud of.
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: They are based on pure ingredients to repair, nourish, and protect the skin and to just make you feel really, really good while you're while you're using our products.
- 3:37SPEAKER_05: Yeah, no, absolutely.
- 3:38SPEAKER_05: And I think you definitely hit the nail on the head with that because I am obsessed with the whole thing.
- 3:43SPEAKER_05: I mean, honestly, it's you know, for everyone listening, I mean, I'm gonna dive into this a lot more as we progress, but it's like every product is this beautiful, like velvety rich texture.
- 3:56SPEAKER_05: It's just it goes onto your skin, soaks right in.
- 3:59SPEAKER_05: It doesn't sit greasy on your face.
- 4:02SPEAKER_05: It's just like I said in the beginning, it's a new for me.
- 4:05SPEAKER_05: This is like a new category almost of skincare because people, like I said, I hate the word indie, right?
- 4:11SPEAKER_05: I hate that word because I feel like it it groups all those brands together, but it's like indie luxury is where I would put you guys because it's a very luxe brand.
- 4:20SPEAKER_05: So I would Gigi, I would love to hear from you as well about the the beginning of the brand.
- 4:25SPEAKER_05: Absolutely.
- 4:25SPEAKER_04: And and you just said something that's so important to us when you're talking about how the product it lays on your skin.
- 4:33SPEAKER_04: So for us, due to our age, and some of us are mid-40s and above, many years above that, there are some concerns that we shared in common as women.
- 4:44SPEAKER_04: For me and for a few of the girls, we're always trying to figure out how to get how to resolve our hyperpigmentation, sunspots, melasma, because that makes us feel like we look older.
- 4:57SPEAKER_04: And then other concerns of aging skin, um, dehydrated or lack of moist moisture in our skin, dry patches, fine lines.
- 5:07SPEAKER_04: And for me personally, I I personally am trying to find clean ingredients.
- 5:13SPEAKER_04: I don't do, I don't do fillers.
- 5:15SPEAKER_04: I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it, but I don't do fillers, I don't use Botox.
- 5:19SPEAKER_04: I'm always looking and obsessively researching what are the most effective, clean ingredients that have been proven effective.
- 5:29SPEAKER_04: And that goes back to a point that you just made.
- 5:33SPEAKER_04: One of the most important aspects of Aloecia Beauty is that the research and development of our products are made and are done so that each product plays nicely with the rest.
- 5:46SPEAKER_04: So, for example, uh we recently had a very successful launch of our new anti-aging and brightening collection, which features a proprietary complex of ingredients that are meant for anti-aging and brightening um benefits.
- 6:02SPEAKER_04: And there is the balanced toner, there's the revitalized eye cream, the ultra-rich face moisturizer, the light hydration emulsion, which is really fun.
- 6:13SPEAKER_04: And that is definitely a Korean um something that we're we're incorporating here that's Korean used anciently by them.
- 6:20SPEAKER_04: And there's a reason for that.
- 6:21SPEAKER_04: We could talk about it.
- 6:23SPEAKER_04: And as well as our toner and the serum.
- 6:26SPEAKER_04: Um you layer that and when you layer these products, you're not getting peeling, but you're getting benefit, right?
- 6:36SPEAKER_04: So you do it and night.
- 6:37SPEAKER_04: And for me, I wear a lot of makeup.
- 6:39SPEAKER_04: I love makeup, I love it, but I find that even some of the most expensive medical grade skincare products do not play well with each other.
- 6:50SPEAKER_04: So you place one layer on, and then I end up having to wash my face off when I do my makeup because they don't play well, they don't layer well.
- 6:58SPEAKER_04: But Aloysia Beauty, we do a lot of research and development with our scientists to make sure you're getting a max benefit, max effective benefit of these ingredients, layering them and wearing beautifully under your makeup or without your makeup, your face just has that beautiful glow.
- 7:16SPEAKER_05: Well, I think, okay, so this is where I really want to, I actually really want to hone in here because I don't know if you guys remember, but you remember when the seven skin method was like all over YouTube and it was all over Instagram, and it was this big thing, right?
- 7:30SPEAKER_05: With K-Beauty.
- 7:31SPEAKER_05: It was like this layering of products, but it wasn't really products.
- 7:35SPEAKER_05: Everyone was confusing it.
- 7:37SPEAKER_05: And it was like, I actually did it the proper way.
- 7:39SPEAKER_05: Like I watched so many videos, right?
- 7:41SPEAKER_05: Before I tried it, and it was really based on the idea of whatever you're using, like you put it on and you just you you let those products like layer on top of each other as like almost like another barrier for your skin.
- 7:54SPEAKER_05: And I did that, I did the seven skin method.
- 7:57SPEAKER_05: I remember at the time it was a um the brand I was using, there it was an essence I was using, and it was literally like the whole method was about hydration.
- 8:06SPEAKER_05: And I know that a lot of people think that you know, you don't need 12 steps near.
- 8:09SPEAKER_05: You don't, you don't need seven-step scenery.
- 8:11SPEAKER_05: Okay, you don't, but I think there's so much value in the way that Korean skincare approaches skin health because while you're layering on products that are meant to be layered together, it's like you're creating a second, um, like a barrier that's not just like you know, keeping water loss from happening or stuff.
- 8:33SPEAKER_05: It's like multiple things are happening.
- 8:34SPEAKER_05: So different ingredients are interacting, different molecules are interacting, and it's creating a second skin almost.
- 8:40SPEAKER_05: And that's not, it doesn't have to be, you know, people I think have this, it gets a bad reputation when you say, hey, I use like seven products at night, which I do.
- 8:49SPEAKER_05: I will happily say it.
- 8:51SPEAKER_05: I do.
- 8:51SPEAKER_05: I'm one of the consumers, you know.
- 8:54SPEAKER_05: Yes, but it's like there's a reason for it.
- 8:57SPEAKER_05: And it I literally do when I do that, I wake up with beautiful glowing skin, and the days I don't, I don't have that same feeling.
- 9:03SPEAKER_05: So I'm sorry, but there is value to multiple products, like there is.
- 9:07SPEAKER_03: So that's so true.
- 9:09SPEAKER_03: And and each one of our products on its own is a beautiful, beautifully formulated product that will definitely benefit your skin.
- 9:18SPEAKER_03: But the product line has been designed for each one to build upon the next ingredient to them, the next product to make the next product work better.
- 9:31SPEAKER_03: So first you clean, then you treat, and then you protect your skin.
- 9:36SPEAKER_03: And each each one is designed to maximize the benefit of the next product that follows in your in your skincare routine.
- 9:45SPEAKER_05: Yeah, no, I think, you know, Veronica, you made a really great point.
- 9:48SPEAKER_05: And I wanted, I was so excited to interview you guys because I wanted to share my own experiences also, you know, just to help really get this point across to everyone listening is that like they're not joking, Veronica's not joking when she says these products go together.
- 10:02SPEAKER_05: Like genuinely, you guys, like if any of you have done like a sheet mask, all of you know when you do a sheet mask, it's like one and done, right?
- 10:10SPEAKER_05: It's like you don't do much afterwards because usually you get pilling, you know, you get something happening.
- 10:15SPEAKER_05: I am obsessed with your line.
- 10:17SPEAKER_05: Like the masks for everyone listening, there's a mask kit, it's a seven-day treatment set, and it's so good.
- 10:24SPEAKER_05: Like I'm literally my favorite skincare product of all times category is face masks.
- 10:29SPEAKER_05: And I'm obsessed with your face masks.
- 10:31SPEAKER_05: But the best part is I don't have to be done afterwards.
- 10:34SPEAKER_05: I can put on the nice, like the rich cream, and then you know, like layer it on.
- 10:40SPEAKER_05: And I feel like my skin's not over like weighed or you know what I mean?
- 10:44SPEAKER_05: It's not heavy, it's just it blends, you know, everything just blends together.
- 10:49SPEAKER_05: And I just found that to be a very magical thing because I have a lot of experience with face masks, and usually it's the peeling that Gigi was talking about, you know.
- 10:57SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 10:58SPEAKER_04: And you know where it all starts?
- 11:00SPEAKER_04: It all starts with something that, oh my goodness, that we really appreciate that that Korean Beauty has taught us.
- 11:08SPEAKER_04: And we're starting to see it go viral here in the United States on TikTok, which we know so many people are influenced by and appreciating, but it starts with cleansing your skin properly.
- 11:18SPEAKER_04: And there are so many friends that Veronica and I have that used to use makeup wipes.
- 11:24SPEAKER_04: I don't think Veronica and I personally ever use makeup wipes because I think we've been so obsessed with skincare since we were very young, anyways.
- 11:32SPEAKER_04: So Veronica has her own methods and I had my own methods, but it was not through makeup wipes.
- 11:39SPEAKER_04: The double cleansing, there again, those are two different products.
- 11:43SPEAKER_04: Some people will say, why do we need two steps?
- 11:47SPEAKER_05: I'm obsessed, by the way.
- 11:48SPEAKER_05: Yeah, go ahead.
- 11:50SPEAKER_04: Especially, well, even if you don't wear makeup, if you are wearing sunscreen, which everybody should be wearing every single day and reapplying, so sunscreen, grime, dirt, pollution, and then add onto a makeup, the first thing you have to do is melt that.
- 12:05SPEAKER_04: And that's where a delicious oil cleanser, such as Aloisia Beauty's, um, comes into play.
- 12:12SPEAKER_04: Ours is made with eight emollient oils that are protecting your skin barrier while it's melting your makeup.
- 12:19SPEAKER_04: Well, great, now you've melted your makeup, but you still have to go in and actually cleanse your skin.
- 12:24SPEAKER_04: And that's where the double step do.
- 12:27SPEAKER_04: And for ours, it's the jade water cleanser, the refresh.
- 12:30SPEAKER_04: Now you're going in, jade is known for detoxification.
- 12:35SPEAKER_04: Now you're going in and actually cleansing the skin.
- 12:38SPEAKER_04: And you will notice, I mean, if you use a towel and you just do your basic makeup wipes or it's one-step cleanser, take a white towel, place it on your face afterwards, you're still gonna get some residue.
- 12:48SPEAKER_04: But if you do the double method and you do it properly while it's still respecting your skin barrier and gently cleansing your skin, take that white towel and you will see, oh wow, now I have a fresh face so that now all these products that I'm spending the time and money on are actually gonna be absorbed better into by my skin because I have a clean canvas.
- 13:10SPEAKER_05: Absolutely.
- 13:11SPEAKER_05: And you know what's what's so cool, Gigi, is that I love that you guys like I knew it from the minute I tried your line, I knew you too, like all of you co-founders were skin nerds like me.
- 13:22SPEAKER_05: I knew it.
- 13:23SPEAKER_05: I was like, they know their stuff because the way that like genuinely, because you guys have stuck to like some very fundamental principles, I think, of skin health and skin care routines, and you've done it so well because the double cleanse, let's talk about that for a minute.
- 13:37SPEAKER_05: Because I'm I strayed away from double cleansing for a long time.
- 13:41SPEAKER_05: I really did.
- 13:41SPEAKER_05: I bought into the social media thing, everyone was like, Well, you don't need a double cleanse.
- 13:45SPEAKER_05: And I was like, Well, I am kind of like opposite of UGG, where I don't wear makeup, you know, a lot, but I I know exactly what you mean.
- 13:52SPEAKER_05: The sunscreen has to come off, the you know, all the serums have to come off.
- 13:55SPEAKER_05: So I was like, okay, well, I don't need double cleansing.
- 13:58SPEAKER_05: But then, like when you guys sent me your double cleanse, I'm glad that's what came first because I've really got to experience it.
- 14:06SPEAKER_05: And it just felt like, okay, yes, this is there is a purpose for double double cleansing.
- 14:12SPEAKER_05: There is a real purpose for it because you can feel the difference.
- 14:15SPEAKER_05: And that's where I feel like social media, like I get so irritated sometimes because you know, you mentioned TikTok, and there's always these trends like, oh, you don't have to double cleanse or you don't have to do this.
- 14:25SPEAKER_05: But it's like, do what makes your skin the healthiest it could possibly be.
- 14:29SPEAKER_05: And it's double.
- 14:32SPEAKER_04: How about do what makes you feel good?
- 14:34SPEAKER_04: And I don't know about you, but when I take care of myself, you know, you're a working woman, we're working women at the end of our day, and we actually take those few minutes to actually engage in self-care, which is breathing in the delicious natural sense of our oil cleanser, taking a deep breath and start melting your makeup off.
- 14:54SPEAKER_04: You're also melting the day away and start adjusting your life from that work life to your home life.
- 15:01SPEAKER_04: And you feel you feel better when you do that.
- 15:05SPEAKER_05: Yeah, you really do.
- 15:06SPEAKER_05: And that's another thing is like you even you guys even have like the the scent, like the natural scent down.
- 15:12SPEAKER_05: Like it's like perfected, you know what I mean?
- 15:15SPEAKER_05: Like it's just I love it.
- 15:16SPEAKER_05: I love every detail of your brand.
- 15:18SPEAKER_05: Like I really am not lying to everyone obsessed with it.
- 15:22SPEAKER_05: Like it's literally every product you dive into and you're just like, oh my god, I love this.
- 15:27SPEAKER_05: Oh my god, I love this.
- 15:28SPEAKER_05: The eye cream is divine.
- 15:30SPEAKER_05: Oh my gosh.
- 15:31SPEAKER_05: Like, I if I don't use that specific eye cream, I can tell the difference the next day.
- 15:36SPEAKER_05: Like I really can't because it's like so softening around your eye area that it like just it feels nourished.
- 15:42SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 15:43SPEAKER_05: It doesn't feel like you're putting like a bunch of slick on your eye.
- 15:46SPEAKER_05: And that's one of my biggest pet peeves with like eye cream, is like when it doesn't soak in, you know what I mean?
- 15:51SPEAKER_05: Or it doesn't like actually sit well with the skin and go into the skin, do what it's supposed to do.
- 15:56SPEAKER_05: And I feel like with yours, it's just so beautifully crafted.
- 15:59SPEAKER_05: So yeah, I'm just you know, I'm obsessed with it.
- 16:01SPEAKER_05: And I think anyone listening who really is, if you're truly a skincare nerd, you will nerd out.
- 16:06SPEAKER_05: You really will, because it's just it's beautiful.
- 16:08SPEAKER_05: The textures are so beautiful.
- 16:10SPEAKER_04: And I love when you say that because I've always, I mean, you go back to like what was the the what inspired you to this?
- 16:16SPEAKER_04: And I tell this story about I was in pharmaceutical sales for several years.
- 16:20SPEAKER_04: And before that, even growing up, I had this weird obsession of pulling out package inserts of anything in our medicine cabinet as a little girl growing up.
- 16:30SPEAKER_04: And I would sneak into my room and I would read it.
- 16:33SPEAKER_04: So I understood um how you'd always have to have side effects may include and what is you know, how to use and directions.
- 16:39SPEAKER_04: It was just this weird obsession, which probably led me into doing well in pharmaceutical sales.
- 16:44SPEAKER_04: And Veronica also has actually an experience with medical industry, but we've been nerds about ingredients and then, yes, as as women, as mothers to daughters, nerds about skincare and how important self-care and skincare is to how a woman feels.
- 17:04SPEAKER_04: And I think that's the most important thing for us is we take such pride when we get people like you and so many people that will email us and tell us about how people stop them after two, three weeks of using Aloisia Beauty and say, okay, what did you do?
- 17:20SPEAKER_04: What are you doing?
- 17:20SPEAKER_04: You're glowing, your skin is glowing.
- 17:22SPEAKER_04: And we're, you know, kidding, because that then that's our purpose, that's our mission.
- 17:26SPEAKER_04: We're we're we're reaching, you know, keeps us going and motivated, especially having started this business during COVID.
- 17:32SPEAKER_04: Definitely wasn't the easiest start.
- 17:34SPEAKER_04: Luckily, you know, we're moving all upward, but thankfully, gratefully, but to have people write into us and tell us how it feels when people notice their skin, that's keeps us motivated.
- 17:47SPEAKER_05: That's everything.
- 17:48SPEAKER_05: I know.
- 17:49SPEAKER_05: I mean, I can I get it.
- 17:50SPEAKER_05: And you know, here's the thing it's like, I feel like, you know, there's very few brands now.
- 17:55SPEAKER_05: Like, I'm not even I'm not gonna be, you know, I'm not gonna BS anybody.
- 17:58SPEAKER_05: There's very few brands for everyone listening out there that I feel like put in that, like, um, what do you call it?
- 18:04SPEAKER_05: Like, like just the the work, the nitty-gritty, detail-oriented, like nitpicky, like you know what I mean?
- 18:11SPEAKER_05: Like you have to understand what skincare consumers are looking for to make a good brand.
- 18:15SPEAKER_05: If you don't know, you're not gonna be able to do it.
- 18:17SPEAKER_05: You know why?
- 18:18SPEAKER_05: Because you don't understand textures, you don't understand the mechanism of how you want your skincare to sit on your face, you don't understand the difference between a night cream and a day cream, those kind of things.
- 18:27SPEAKER_05: And it matters to know that it matters, and those things I always say to people, you can't fake that about a brand.
- 18:35SPEAKER_05: If a brand doesn't have that in its DNA, you'll be able to tell immediately.
- 18:40SPEAKER_05: It's either not gonna sit well with your makeup or it's not gonna sit well on your skin.
- 18:44SPEAKER_05: And it's like with your brand, the minute I tried it, I knew I loved it.
- 18:48SPEAKER_05: I absolutely loved it.
- 18:49SPEAKER_05: And then every product, it was like, I love this too.
- 18:51SPEAKER_05: I love this too, I love this too.
- 18:53SPEAKER_05: And that's you know, it's like it's that experience, like a eureka moment, you know what I mean?
- 18:57SPEAKER_05: So it's it's really great.
- 18:58SPEAKER_05: And I I just, you know, I I'm such a fan.
- 19:00SPEAKER_05: I know I'm like ranting, but it's just I I really want to learn from you guys because I know you mentioned that you had gone to Korea and you you did your homework, but how was that experience for you as you know, entrepreneurs kind of like going into the space?
- 19:13SPEAKER_05: Because I know there's a lot of buzz about K-beauty, but no one really explains the process of launching a K Beauty skincare line, you know, and then being away from Korea, you know.
- 19:23SPEAKER_05: So I would love to get that experience from you guys.
- 19:26SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and to clarify, although we do um attribute a lot of our passion and the philosophy, and our partner is Korean, um, partner in the brand, our launch partner, our skincare lab is in Korea.
- 19:40SPEAKER_04: We really Aloisia Beauty is a clean skincare brand.
- 19:45SPEAKER_04: Yes, we have a lot of um traditions that we are respecting when it comes to Korean because of us understanding that their philosophy and the way they treat, and even Esmeral Effect and Korean labs, the um how strict they are about the ingredients that are placed in their products.
- 20:04SPEAKER_04: We respect that.
- 20:05SPEAKER_04: We love that, but we really are a skincare beauty brand, even above and beyond, I think, a K-beauty brand.
- 20:13SPEAKER_04: Um, as far as the process of starting a business, I think anybody can tell you, and it is a very, you know, busy, crowded, and we know there are a lot of celebrities that are starting their skincare and their beauty businesses.
- 20:27SPEAKER_04: You really have to believe in what you're doing.
- 20:30SPEAKER_04: And when you just said you can tell right away if somebody's really gotten into the nitty-gritty of paying attention to the ingredients and the products and the formulations, we wouldn't be here today if we didn't think that this was we didn't know, and we don't have the backing saying when you try this, you're going to reorder.
- 20:48SPEAKER_04: When you try this, this is your new skincare.
- 20:50SPEAKER_04: We wouldn't be here.
- 20:51SPEAKER_04: We would have already, you know, buzzed out.
- 20:53SPEAKER_04: But I conduct studies, we do a lot of research development before we bring a product to market.
- 21:00SPEAKER_04: We've been working on this for years.
- 21:03SPEAKER_04: There's a lot that goes behind the actual formulation, ensuring those ingredients work and resolving what are the American skincare.
- 21:15SPEAKER_04: How can traditional Korean ingredients and philosophy be married with innovation and science to resolve the skincare needs of the women here in the United States?
- 21:25SPEAKER_04: Is that who we are?
- 21:26SPEAKER_04: That that's the market that we are catering to.
- 21:29SPEAKER_04: And so that's what we're looking to do.
- 21:32SPEAKER_05: I love that.
- 21:33SPEAKER_05: And I think you've really actually done that so well.
- 21:36SPEAKER_05: And that's actually you took the words out of my mouth, actually, Gigi, because that's really how I I felt as a consumer trying your brand.
- 21:42SPEAKER_05: I was like, this is really special in terms of formulation.
- 21:46SPEAKER_05: So I'm very curious how they form like we don't even mean what the principles were for their formulas, but it it feels like a wonderful brand from home.
- 21:54SPEAKER_05: You know, it doesn't feel like it's something you can't understand.
- 21:57SPEAKER_05: I'm not saying that's how K Beauty is.
- 21:58SPEAKER_05: There's a there's a lot of Really great brands out there, but sometimes you know you get lost in all of that, right?
- 22:05SPEAKER_05: And it's like, it like, is this really meant for me?
- 22:07SPEAKER_05: I mean, I know we all have such different skin types, but I think you guys have translated the philosophy of K-Beauty so beautifully into a brand that resonates with women, I think globally, you know, because uh Aloistia isn't a brand that you look at and you're like, oh, it's for this generation or it's for this kind of person or for this.
- 22:26SPEAKER_05: It's not, it's just a beautiful skincare line that is just efficacious, it works, it feels good.
- 22:33SPEAKER_05: You like I love the packaging.
- 22:34SPEAKER_05: I think it's absolutely beautiful because it's simple but sleek, like it just it's nice.
- 22:39SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 22:40SPEAKER_05: You didn't do anything extra, and that's what I really love is like you have a minimalistic component to the line, but it's still so detail oriented when it comes to the formulation.
- 22:49SPEAKER_05: So it's beautiful.
- 22:50SPEAKER_05: I really think it's a genius line.
- 22:53SPEAKER_05: Thank you.
- 22:54SPEAKER_05: Um, I wanna, you know, on that note, I want to ask you guys um, my favorite product in the whole line is the ultra-rich moisture cream.
- 23:02SPEAKER_05: I am obsessed with this product.
- 23:03SPEAKER_05: I literally wear it every day, every night.
- 23:05SPEAKER_05: Like this is my night cream, basically at this point.
- 23:08SPEAKER_05: So I would love to hear about what your thought process was when you were, you know, when you were crafting this specific product, like what you guys were looking, you know, really aiming for.
- 23:19SPEAKER_03: So this whole collection, the whole anti-aging and brightening collection, is a very special collection because it was actually formulated as a whole to function it together.
- 23:31SPEAKER_03: So they share all of the products in this line share a core of ingredients that are powered by our anti-aging and brightening complex.
- 23:42SPEAKER_03: So this complex is a combination of using um probiotics in our fermentation process to break down um ingredients and refine them and maximize their potency so that you bring out their, you kind of supercharge them.
- 23:59SPEAKER_03: And then we paired those with an extensive, extensive list of vitamins, antioxidants that are you know powerhouses with um that for multi-purposes of benefiting the skin for brightening, for anti-aging.
- 24:17SPEAKER_03: So you have ingredients like niacinamide and green tea and squalene and just all these wonderful ingredients with sodium hyaluronide.
- 24:25SPEAKER_03: So it's this complex that is the the core that powers this anti-aging and brightening collection and the ultra-rich moisture cream.
- 24:33SPEAKER_05: I love that.
- 24:34SPEAKER_05: I absolutely love that.
- 24:35SPEAKER_05: And I also wanted to commend you guys about the uh the spray that you have, like the mist, the aloe mist, the aloe mist, because it is so brilliant.
- 24:44SPEAKER_05: I was like, when I first saw your mist, this is how I can tell.
- 24:47SPEAKER_05: This is I'm such a nerd.
- 24:48SPEAKER_05: Okay, so just let me let me explain my process.
- 24:52SPEAKER_05: When I look at a brand and they because usually these days brands have mist, right?
- 24:55SPEAKER_05: They have a whatever refreshing mist, whatever.
- 24:58SPEAKER_05: I can tell by your mist what kind of brand you are.
- 25:00SPEAKER_05: Because if your mist isn't, I'm telling you, I'm genuine.
- 25:03SPEAKER_05: I'm telling you, if you your mist isn't made to cool and calm your skin, you're doing it wrong.
- 25:10SPEAKER_05: That's not you, that's not the purpose.
- 25:12SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 25:13SPEAKER_05: Like the whole idea of a misting product is to calm your skin, to hydrate it, to make it feel renewed again.
- 25:20SPEAKER_05: And that's exactly it has it in the name, aloe.
- 25:23SPEAKER_05: I mean, tell me a better anti-inflammatory than aloe.
- 25:26SPEAKER_05: I mean, it's literally there.
- 25:27SPEAKER_05: So I was like, when I tried your mist, I was like, oh my god, they're brilliant.
- 25:32SPEAKER_05: What they're doing.
- 25:33SPEAKER_05: So, you know, it's it's like little things like that I've really picked up on, you know, and and as I go through the line, as I'm still using it day in, you know, day in, day out, I really see it.
- 25:43SPEAKER_05: I see the difference, you know, and it's really the main difference for me has been hydration.
- 25:48SPEAKER_05: And I think this is a point I really want to touch on because hydration is something we all talk about, but we don't understand.
- 25:54SPEAKER_05: And I think a lot of us, I I can actually put this challenge out there to the listeners that you don't know what your skin looks like when it's fully plumped up, fully hydrated.
- 26:06SPEAKER_05: You don't know because there's gonna be that one product that comes across in your life, like whatever that is for you, and you're gonna notice it immediately.
- 26:13SPEAKER_05: And you're gonna be like, oh my God, but I didn't know my skin could look like that.
- 26:16SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 26:17SPEAKER_05: So, this is something I want to talk to you guys about is the hydration component and how you guys were um what you wanted with that.
- 26:24SPEAKER_05: You know, what were your goals in terms of ingredients?
- 26:26SPEAKER_05: What did you know that you wanted to include to maximize hydration?
- 26:33SPEAKER_03: Well, for me, for example, uh when I was younger, I always thought I had dry skin.
- 26:39SPEAKER_03: But it was and I was always looking for the the richest cream, the anti-aging green, but it turned out I had dehydrated skin.
- 26:47SPEAKER_03: So that that is the big difference.
- 26:50SPEAKER_03: And what for us in terms of ingredients, it was really important to pick each ingredient is methodically selected for the purpose of increasing hydration.
- 27:00SPEAKER_03: So there's all these humectants from even from the start, starting point of our formulations, uh, the water as an alternative to purified water, most of our formulas use a bifida ferment filtrate, or they use um deep uh seawater, or they use sea buckthorn as the as the foundation of the formulation, all to increase hydration.
- 27:23SPEAKER_03: And then to lock it in, we use sodium hyaluronate, we use polyglotamic acid to lock in that moisture retention.
- 27:32SPEAKER_05: That's brilliant.
- 27:33SPEAKER_05: I love that.
- 27:34SPEAKER_05: I love that you like I love that you guys know that.
- 27:38SPEAKER_03: It's like each ingredient in the list is specifically selected for a purpose to address a skin concern.
- 27:45SPEAKER_03: And hydration, hyperpigmentation, those are key concerns that we focus on.
- 27:51SPEAKER_05: I love that.
- 27:52SPEAKER_05: And I love that you mentioned the fermentation aspect because I think this is one of the things that people have strayed away from is the use of fermented um products in the skincare line.
- 28:02SPEAKER_05: And I think it's it's crazy to get away from that because fermented products, I think um you guys, you know, I don't know if it was Gigi or Veronica, one of you had said it earlier, is that there's a purpose here and it's to break down the ingredients so that they're the most efficacious they could be, right?
- 28:19SPEAKER_05: And that's what fermentation does.
- 28:21SPEAKER_05: And I think that, you know, again, if you're not a skincare nerd, these are the kind of details you kind of miss out on.
- 28:26SPEAKER_05: But if you guys think back to K Beauty and when it was huge, like, you know, everywhere on social media, you noticed everyone had an essence, right?
- 28:34SPEAKER_05: Everyone had an essence.
- 28:36SPEAKER_05: And it was all about fermentation.
- 28:37SPEAKER_05: It was all about um, you know, this is a fermented essence for a hundred years that's been fermented or whatever.
- 28:43SPEAKER_05: And the idea was there and it made sense.
- 28:46SPEAKER_05: And for some reason we strayed from that.
- 28:48SPEAKER_05: So I love that you guys have kept that going because that is really the secret here, I feel like, because it's it makes a huge difference.
- 28:54SPEAKER_05: It makes a huge difference for your microbiome, for your overall skin barrier, it makes a huge, huge, huge difference.
- 29:00SPEAKER_05: So yeah, I'm really I'm glad that you yeah.
- 29:04SPEAKER_05: So I actually, you know, I want to actually um ask you guys one more thing, and that and that is really about you know being women in in this business, because I know right now we're dealing with a lot of clutter in space, you know, and this is like I feel like it's become my goal with this podcast is to declutter this industry because there are so many brands, and I can't tell you guys how many brands I literally look at and I'm like, I can't I can't interview you because the first ingredient on your you know ingredient list is just water, and there's really not much more to it.
- 29:35SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 29:35SPEAKER_05: So, like I want to get you guys' opinions as entrepreneurs, as women, you've seen the space, you've seen it from you know different angles.
- 29:41SPEAKER_05: What do you think about it?
- 29:42SPEAKER_05: Like the current state of the industry.
- 29:48SPEAKER_03: It's it's very challenging.
- 29:50SPEAKER_03: It's very challenging as uh as we are a self-funded brand.
- 29:54SPEAKER_03: So for women in particular, access to funding is very challenging.
- 29:59SPEAKER_03: So there I wish it were easier once you have a product to be able to get that support behind you, but it just takes hard work.
- 30:06SPEAKER_03: And as Gigi said it, you have to believe that what you are offering and what you're bringing to market is special and is important and deserves a place at the table.
- 30:18SPEAKER_03: And we believe that.
- 30:19SPEAKER_03: So, yes, it's a very competitive marketplace.
- 30:22SPEAKER_03: There's so many brands that are coming out on the daily, but we know that what we have uh deserves a place at the table and is long-lasting.
- 30:31SPEAKER_03: It's something that, as you indicated earlier, it's not for a specific age group, it benefits everyone, and it's just designed to have a long, long trajectory and it's here to stay for for you know for decades.
- 30:47SPEAKER_05: I love that.
- 30:48SPEAKER_05: I love that and that's what skincare should be.
- 30:50SPEAKER_05: I love that you said that, Veronica, because honestly, people ask me, they're like, Well, why skincare?
- 30:55SPEAKER_05: And I'm like, because skincare is so cool, it's so different, you know, it's ageless, it's it's genderless, it's a beautiful category, and it's really about wellness and taking care of yourself and feeling like what you're doing is somehow bettering you overall, whether that's emotionally, mentally, obviously physically, with the appearance of your skin.
- 31:16SPEAKER_05: It's a beautiful category of beauty.
- 31:19SPEAKER_05: And it's just, I feel like we we need to really step back as an industry and like approach it differently when we're launching brands, you know, like all the celebrities coming out with brands, all the people who just blindly launch a brand.
- 31:31SPEAKER_05: I'm not saying there's anything wrong with you wanting to do that, but you have to think about what you're bringing to this table, you know.
- 31:38SPEAKER_05: And I feel like with Aloesia Beauty, when I tried you guys, it like it's what I said earlier.
- 31:43SPEAKER_05: I immediately knew that this was a line that I would be hooked with, hooked on.
- 31:48SPEAKER_05: I knew it.
- 31:49SPEAKER_05: I was like, this is feels like it.
- 31:50SPEAKER_05: You know what I mean?
- 31:51SPEAKER_05: Like you feel it, you can feel it in the first time you use a line.
- 31:54SPEAKER_05: So I urge everybody out there, I want you to go check out the brand.
- 31:57SPEAKER_05: It's absolutely phenomenal.
- 31:59SPEAKER_05: I promise you, there's not a single product, and I really mean it when I say it, there's not a single product that you're gonna try by their line and say, I'm I don't love it, or I, you know, it's not as great as I thought it would be.
- 32:11SPEAKER_05: There's not a single product.
- 32:12SPEAKER_05: I've tried all of them, and so you know, really go check them out, you guys.
- 32:16SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna tag everything in the concept art for this episode.
- 32:18SPEAKER_05: But Veronica and Gigi, thank you so much for coming on the show, and I absolutely love what you're doing.
- 32:23SPEAKER_05: I'm such a fan.
