- Dana (AI host): Setting goals for a whole sales team can mean unclear buttons, confusing navigation, and a targets table that fights you. Rob (AI host): HubSpot rebuilt how goals get created and edited, with a new creation flow, a cleaner targets table, and bulk actions. Dana (AI host): Before your next planning cycle, here are the steps that save the most clicks. Narrator (AI voice): This is Sidekick's What Just Shipped, presented by Sidekick Strategies. Narrator (AI voice): Your hosts, Rob and Dana, are AI. Narrator (AI voice): The voices are synthetic, the research is real, and humans check every claim before it reaches you. Dana (AI host): Dana here, Rob's with me, and we're both AI hosts. Dana (AI host): This one is the goal creation and editing update, checked against HubSpot's sales goals help article. Rob (AI host): Sure thing, and today I'm playing a made-up sales manager who sets next year's goals across several teams. Dana (AI host): Why it matters: goals show up in your reports, so a clean setup decides whether managers trust the attainment numbers. Rob (AI host): Start with access. Who is allowed to build a goal? Dana (AI host): A user with a Sales or Service Hub Professional or Enterprise seat, or a Super Admin, can create, edit, and delete sales goals. Rob (AI host): And to be assigned a goal? Dana (AI host): They need a paid seat too, Sales or Service, at the Professional or Enterprise level. Rob (AI host): Which measures show up for a sales team? Dana (AI host): On Sales Hub Professional and Enterprise, there are four: deals created, calls made, revenue, and meetings booked. Rob (AI host): And on Starter? Dana (AI host): Starter accounts get the revenue measure only. Rob (AI host): Do meetings count automatically? Dana (AI host): Only when the meeting has a value in the Activity assigned to property. Dana (AI host): That is how a meeting gets attributed to a user in goals and reports. Rob (AI host): Service teams? Dana (AI host): Service Hub Professional and Enterprise track average ticket resolution time, average ticket response time, revenue, and tickets closed. Rob (AI host): Take me through the screens. Dana (AI host): Go to Reporting, then Goals, and click Create goal in the top right. Dana (AI host): Then pick a template, or start from scratch. Rob (AI host): Say the manager picks a template. Dana (AI host): Choose Sales under Category, pick the goal type, and click Set goal. Rob (AI host): What stops duplicate goal names? Dana (AI host): Goal names must be unique across your account. Dana (AI host): Enter a name that exists, and HubSpot asks for a different one before you can continue. Rob (AI host): Sensible guardrail for a busy account. Dana (AI host): Saving errors also show up in an alert with the reason, so you can correct a form validation error and resubmit. Rob (AI host): What about revenue goals and the forecast? Dana (AI host): For a forecastable one, pick the Revenue template, and answer Yes when it asks whether you need the goal in the forecasting tool. Dana (AI host): Standard revenue goals only appear in reporting and on the Goals overview tab. Rob (AI host): Now contributors. What are the choices? Dana (AI host): Individual users, with user targets and no team rollup. Dana (AI host): Team goals only, with team targets and no individual tracking. Dana (AI host): Or teams with individual user targets, which tracks both levels. Rob (AI host): In this made-up setup, one rep sits on more than one team. Dana (AI host): Then that rep's target can apply to only one of those teams, and if the rep is a primary member of one, that is the team it lands on. Rob (AI host): How long does a goal run? Dana (AI host): Weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, or custom dates, with a checkbox to align the duration with your fiscal year settings. Rob (AI host): Any trap for forecasting? Dana (AI host): One. Dana (AI host): The goal duration must match the forecast period, so a quarterly goal needs a quarterly forecast period. Rob (AI host): Then the targets table. Dana (AI host): Select the rows you want, and a bulk action ribbon appears above the table. Dana (AI host): Apply targets sets the same value across the selected milestones, and Apply pipelines assigns one pipeline to every selected row. Rob (AI host): And pipelines one row at a time? Dana (AI host): If you opted out of forecasting for that goal, each user or team row has its own Pipeline dropdown. Rob (AI host): Wide table, though, with lots of milestones. Dana (AI host): The first two columns stay frozen, so the contributor name stays visible as you scroll right, and all teams sit in a single consolidated table. Rob (AI host): Can targets come from a spreadsheet? Dana (AI host): Yes. Click Import team targets or Import user targets and choose a CSV file. Rob (AI host): And after the last step? Dana (AI host): Pick which milestones trigger a notification, then click Done. Dana (AI host): HubSpot takes you to the Goals overview tab, filtered to show your new goal. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Hey, it's George B. Thomas from Sidekick Strategies. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Full honesty, this is my AI voice clone, made with my permission. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): A pipeline is only as good as the agreement behind each stage. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Sidekick's Sales Hub implementation interviews your reps and managers, then configures deal stages, required fields, and automation rules around how your team actually sells. George B. Thomas (AI voice clone): Your process, not a template. Ask about Sales Hub Implementation at Sidekick Strategies dot com. Rob (AI host): Editing next. In this made-up case, the manager adds new reps halfway through the year. Dana (AI host): On the Edit targets tab, click Add users or Add teams above the matching table to add several assignees at once. Rob (AI host): And the targets already set? Dana (AI host): They stay. Existing target values are preserved when you add or remove other users or teams. Rob (AI host): That saves a full rebuild. Dana (AI host): Next year can also start from this year. Dana (AI host): Select several goals in the table, click Clone, then edit the copies. Rob (AI host): How fresh is the progress number? Dana (AI host): Goal progress updates every eight to twelve minutes, and changes to a deal after a goal is due do not move its progress. Rob (AI host): And if a rep leaves the company? Dana (AI host): Once the assigned user is deactivated or deleted, that goal's progress and status stop being calculated. Rob (AI host): One edit limit worth knowing? Dana (AI host): Duration. Dana (AI host): You can rename a goal and change its targets, but the duration cannot be changed after creation. Rob (AI host): Now the Breeze piece. Rob (AI host): Our research says Breeze Assistant can create sales goals for your team and suggest targets from your existing goals and performance data. Dana (AI host): Here's what we couldn't confirm: no HubSpot help article we checked describes creating or editing goals through Breeze Assistant yet. Rob (AI host): And the plan list? Dana (AI host): Our write-up lists Sales Hub and Service Hub Professional and Enterprise only, while HubSpot's sales goals help also covers Starter, limited to revenue. Rob (AI host): It also pairs call and meeting goals with service teams. Dana (AI host): The help article lists ticket measures and revenue for Service Hub instead, so plan around those. Rob (AI host): So treat any Breeze target as a draft and check it in the table. Dana (AI host): Here's how this week goes, then. Dana (AI host): Monday, list who holds those paid seats, because only they, or a Super Admin, build goals. Rob (AI host): Next, decide for each goal whether you need individual users, team goals only, or teams with user targets. Dana (AI host): Then line up each revenue goal's duration with its forecast period before anyone enters a number. Rob (AI host): Sales manager verdict: use the new flow for next year's goals, and treat Breeze targets as drafts until HubSpot documents them. Dana (AI host): Name it once, target it right. Rob (AI host): Every source is linked in the show notes, along with more HubSpot updates at Sidekick Strategies dot com. Dana (AI host): Thanks for planning along with us.
