- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, Welcome to the Inside the Birds post game show.
- 0:14Speaker 1: I'm Jeff Mosher and I'm alongside Adam Kaplan and Wow,
- 0:18Speaker 1: I guess the expression is, Adam, if you play with
- 0:21Speaker 1: fire too many times, you will get burned. And that's
- 0:25Speaker 1: exactly what happens to the Philadelphia Eagles. Will once again
- 0:30Speaker 1: the Jeckelin hide offense and even defense. This time they're
- 0:33Speaker 1: up by fourteen points in the second half, they lose
- 0:37Speaker 1: as the Broncos come alive in the second half. The
- 0:39Speaker 1: Eagles lose twenty one to seventeen, their first loss of
- 0:42Speaker 1: the year, and Adam, I think any realistic, objective, common
- 0:47Speaker 1: sense Eagles fan is watching this game and saying.
- 0:50Speaker 2: This is what you have.
- 0:51Speaker 1: This is what happens when you can't play a full
- 0:54Speaker 1: four quarters for several weeks in a row. And it's
- 0:57Speaker 1: pretty much been like that since the season opener.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Yeah, they haven't played a complete game yet. Even brain Man,
- 1:04Speaker 3: who appeared to tweak something in the first half. He
- 1:06Speaker 3: had some punts and I'm sure he'd like to have
- 1:08Speaker 3: back in the second half after a couple of thunder
- 1:10Speaker 3: boomers in the first half, But overall, it was really
- 1:17Speaker 3: one of these situations where you love the aggressiveness of
- 1:20Speaker 3: the first half. They came out throwing and they made
- 1:24Speaker 3: a number of plays. Now, I like how they got
- 1:27Speaker 3: out of hurts his hands quickly into the past RPOs
- 1:30Speaker 3: that we're back in this game. I stopped counting, but
- 1:34Speaker 3: it seemed like they had two dozen of them. That
- 1:36Speaker 3: at a lot of RPO plays and the pop pass,
- 1:39Speaker 3: which is the old Chip Kelly play, just get out
- 1:42Speaker 3: of the quarterback's hands quickly. They did a lot of
- 1:44Speaker 3: that and it got What it does is it gets
- 1:46Speaker 3: the quarterback comfortable and accurate, and they did that. Then,
- 1:49Speaker 3: as you said, something happened in the second half. They
- 1:52Speaker 3: were aggressive. I like how they came out throwing, but
- 1:55Speaker 3: there's some execution plays. The past protection became a problem
- 1:59Speaker 3: with Dickerson out once Guinny's hurt. This time I left
- 2:01Speaker 3: ankle injury. He got friendly fired my Lota ran into
- 2:05Speaker 3: the back of his leg, his left leg. That looks
- 2:08Speaker 3: like on a short week, that's not good. But I
- 2:10Speaker 3: Toth replaced him, and their offense sputtered. I know they're
- 2:13Speaker 3: gonna people are gonna say, where's the run game?
- 2:15Speaker 4: Until we get it.
- 2:16Speaker 3: I haven't wrote it down, you know, I'm mister, throw
- 2:18Speaker 3: the football in my notes here where the Barkley runs.
- 2:22Speaker 4: In the third quarter. You can't mix. You can mix
- 2:23Speaker 4: on a run every now and then.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Jeez, it was I know, I know that's what you're saying.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I was almost afraid to bring this up because we
- 2:32Speaker 1: didn't want to sound like hypocrites. We said you need
- 2:35Speaker 1: to stay aggressive. We said you need to pass, but
- 2:37Speaker 1: we said passed the ball to set up the run.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Later.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Saquon Barkley got his like third or fourth run in
- 2:45Speaker 1: the first quarter and then didn't see a run again
- 2:47Speaker 1: until like late in the third while they were passing
- 2:50Speaker 1: the ball. Well to your point, that's when you start
- 2:52Speaker 1: to try to incorporate the run a little bit.
- 2:54Speaker 2: I don't want to.
- 2:55Speaker 1: We don't want to sound like hypocrites. We wanted them
- 2:57Speaker 1: to be aggressive, we wanted them to pass the ball.
- 2:59Speaker 2: They did that.
- 2:59Speaker 1: But you don't then go to the extreme the other
- 3:02Speaker 1: side either, right, No, you know.
- 3:04Speaker 3: What's so funny about this game. I'm someone just from
- 3:07Speaker 3: talking to coaches over the years. Some will tell you, you
- 3:11Speaker 3: know what, there are trap games, but sometimes it's not
- 3:13Speaker 3: like you think.
- 3:14Speaker 4: So for this game.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Okay, it's a non conference your first series, they came
- 3:18Speaker 3: out throwing, didn't complete a pass. It was whatever we
- 3:21Speaker 3: will have to find out from grec O cel if
- 3:23Speaker 3: aending guys were open. But then the second series on
- 3:26Speaker 3: they moved to football. Look good, look very good. They
- 3:30Speaker 3: again they got out of Hurts his hands quickly, he
- 3:32Speaker 3: was accurate. He was just see it makes you off
- 3:36Speaker 3: our pos to the pop pass.
- 3:37Speaker 4: It just gets them into a rhythm. Okay, it worked.
- 3:40Speaker 4: It worked.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Then they had the somewhat of a wheel route for
- 3:44Speaker 3: the touchdown of Barclay. Good play, And I'm like, all right,
- 3:46Speaker 3: I was wrong. No flat, you know, idegals went in
- 3:49Speaker 3: twenty seventeen. We still won under the total, but it
- 3:52Speaker 3: was not a flat game like you would think. In fact,
- 3:54Speaker 3: I don't know if you were called flat because they
- 3:56Speaker 3: got out of their own way. They're up twenty to
- 3:59Speaker 3: excuse me, seventeen three run defense was fantastic the first half,
- 4:03Speaker 3: so I'm like, wow, they're gonna probably roll in the Broncos.
- 4:06Speaker 3: Broncos don't have it. And then the Broncos hung in there,
- 4:11Speaker 3: and when they made it seventeen to ten, I'm like,
- 4:13Speaker 3: uh oh, let's just see what happens. I only's go
- 4:16Speaker 3: to a touchdown. Don't get too comfortable with Denver right now.
- 4:19Speaker 3: I'm surprised that they lost. I still would have picked
- 4:21Speaker 3: the Eagles to finish, but they did.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I was kick you know, I thought I was
- 4:25Speaker 1: gonna look like the village idiot. I actually predicted the
- 4:27Speaker 1: Broncos to win twenty six to sixteen. And if you know,
- 4:30Speaker 1: they don't botch their final drive there and have the penalty,
- 4:33Speaker 1: then maybe they score a touchdown and it's twenty six
- 4:35Speaker 1: seven to seventeen.
- 4:36Speaker 2: But I'm close.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I got torn apart for my pick, and by halftime
- 4:40Speaker 1: I said people were right. But then I said to myself,
- 4:43Speaker 1: let's just see, because the Eagles have not played a
- 4:46Speaker 1: full four quarters. They did not play well in the
- 4:48Speaker 1: second half. All by the way we're killing the offense
- 4:51Speaker 1: and the out of rhythmness that you've seen, but the defense.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Didn't have enough stops.
- 4:55Speaker 1: I thought bo Nicks was like fourteen of eighteen in
- 4:58Speaker 1: the second half. He scrambled. I thought he made some
- 5:01Speaker 1: nice throws. But in general, you know, Vic's defenses have
- 5:05Speaker 1: been pretty tight and good. But in the second half,
- 5:07Speaker 1: you know, he didn't blitz as much as this game.
- 5:09Speaker 1: For whatever reason, I think that came back to haunt
- 5:12Speaker 1: them a little bit, especially in the second half the
- 5:14Speaker 1: Broncos were able to convert some third downs. I felt
- 5:18Speaker 1: nervous when for the Eagles when Dobbin scored that touchdown,
- 5:22Speaker 1: like you said, and it was seventeen ten, and if
- 5:25Speaker 1: just just trying to go through it quickly at the
- 5:26Speaker 1: end of the game, Adam, when you go through the possessions,
- 5:29Speaker 1: you always say, and I agree with you. If you
- 5:31Speaker 1: just look at like the possession chart and how things
- 5:33Speaker 1: go in the flow, it tells a story. And it
- 5:36Speaker 1: seemed to me that the Eagles passed the ball well
- 5:39Speaker 1: on first and ten with the RPO in the quick
- 5:42Speaker 1: game when the Broncos didn't know if they're run or pass.
- 5:45Speaker 1: And obviously the way the Broncos play defense so aggressively,
- 5:48Speaker 1: they give you those one on ones because they blitz
- 5:50Speaker 1: so much.
- 5:50Speaker 2: But anytime the Eagles didn't get a good.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Positive first down play and they were stuck in like
- 5:55Speaker 1: second and six or second and longer, and the Broncos
- 5:59Speaker 1: knew they were Gonnas. They had the answers and they
- 6:02Speaker 1: did a great job. As we said in the pregame show,
- 6:04Speaker 1: they know how to rush the passer without getting north
- 6:08Speaker 1: of a mobile quarterback. They do a great job of
- 6:10Speaker 1: getting that semi circle around the quarterback but keeping him
- 6:14Speaker 1: in the pocket.
- 6:14Speaker 2: And he saw that. Hurts took six sacks.
- 6:17Speaker 1: I mean he ran himself into a few trying to
- 6:19Speaker 1: get out of the pocket, but then he got three
- 6:21Speaker 1: or four just nowhere to go.
- 6:23Speaker 2: It seemed to me that the Eagles really struggled to.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Pass the ball at times where the Rams and the
- 6:29Speaker 1: Broncos knew they were going to pass the ball, and
- 6:32Speaker 1: only really move the ball well on those first downs
- 6:35Speaker 1: and certain times where they could play that fifty to
- 6:37Speaker 1: fifty game with the rpo or the pop pass. You
- 6:40Speaker 1: can't live life that way. You got to be able
- 6:42Speaker 1: to convert on second and third, even if you're behind
- 6:44Speaker 1: the sticks a little bit.
- 6:46Speaker 3: Yeah, they were very seeming to be that they were
- 6:48Speaker 3: successful and early down. So as we stay on the
- 6:50Speaker 3: offense before we get to defense. By the way, Calcutara
- 6:53Speaker 3: had the oblique injury. That's why you saw Kylon grantson play.
- 6:57Speaker 3: This is a second tight end they got got her there.
- 7:00Speaker 3: I know he clearly got held late.
- 7:02Speaker 4: See that.
- 7:02Speaker 3: This is what bothers me about the NFL. They're so
- 7:05Speaker 3: inconsistent about what they'll let go and what they won't.
- 7:08Speaker 3: The Broncos had a number of holds that were not called.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Bernian Mitri got called for one, clearly did they were
- 7:16Speaker 3: just there were some situations where I'm like, wow, they're
- 7:19Speaker 3: they're letting, They're letting the physical play go. That's fine,
- 7:21Speaker 3: But why don't they do this every game? Like you
- 7:23Speaker 3: can't decide as referees what's a hold and what's not
- 7:27Speaker 3: a hold.
- 7:27Speaker 4: So I thought that was a little bit of a problem.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Uh, But yeah, Goddard is another guy, because you saw
- 7:35Speaker 3: with DeVante Smith, they boy, they went to him and
- 7:39Speaker 3: they went to him and the third and seventeen the
- 7:41Speaker 3: bomb was a beautiful pass by her.
- 7:43Speaker 4: So it was a big time NFL throw.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Protection by was phenomenal and delivered a great great job
- 7:50Speaker 3: by Smith tracking it. It just was perfect. They got
- 7:53Speaker 3: Brown by the way, on some slants. Good to see
- 7:55Speaker 3: we asked for that. You can't, I guess you can't
- 7:57Speaker 3: have everything right right. But the passive game of the
- 8:01Speaker 3: second half they started to pick up on it. You
- 8:04Speaker 3: talked about the quick game, they started to smother it
- 8:06Speaker 3: a little bit, and then the intermediate game was out
- 8:10Speaker 3: and they were kind of sputtering a little bit, and
- 8:11Speaker 3: then Denner would get the ball back and they start
- 8:14Speaker 3: moving it.
- 8:14Speaker 4: And we'll get to the defense in a minute here.
- 8:17Speaker 3: But Dotson, by the way, had that big catch the
- 8:20Speaker 3: twenty four yarder, which is good to see also special teams. Dotson,
- 8:24Speaker 3: although he did have that the one really nice return,
- 8:27Speaker 3: he pretty much he pretty much he had the fifteen
- 8:29Speaker 3: yard punt return. He pretty much fair catches everything.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I know, and you have Xavier Gibson. I wrote
- 8:34Speaker 1: this on the Philly Voice website for my observations. It
- 8:38Speaker 1: was my last one. Why do you have Xavier Gibson here,
- 8:40Speaker 1: who's had a very good career as a punt returner.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I know he's puts him on the ground, but he's
- 8:44Speaker 1: been with the team for long enough now where he's
- 8:47Speaker 1: not gonna. I thought Johan Dotson really hurt them with two,
- 8:51Speaker 1: maybe even three fair catches inside the own ten. The
- 8:55Speaker 1: one right before half was such a line drive trajectory
- 8:58Speaker 1: that I didn't see how any possi way that ball
- 9:01Speaker 1: couldn't have gone into the end zone, and then even
- 9:03Speaker 1: passed bounced out of the end zone and he caught
- 9:05Speaker 1: it on a line drive inside the five so or
- 9:08Speaker 1: inside the ten. I thought that was bad decision making
- 9:10Speaker 1: and Eagles did not have good field position for that
- 9:14Speaker 1: reason on a lot of them. I do want to
- 9:15Speaker 1: ask you about three particular plays, and two of them
- 9:20Speaker 1: involve officiating, and I we never blame officials, and I
- 9:24Speaker 1: do not blame officials loss at all. But I thought
- 9:27Speaker 1: in this game there were so many weird calls and
- 9:31Speaker 1: I wanted to get your opinion on some of them. Okay,
- 9:34Speaker 1: so let let's go with the the no call on
- 9:38Speaker 1: pass interference on god or inside the five.
- 9:40Speaker 2: But right before the hail Mary, he.
- 9:42Speaker 4: Was really penalty.
- 9:44Speaker 3: That was clearly Okay, I know you can't restrict by
- 9:47Speaker 3: holding any part of the fields to hold right that
- 9:51Speaker 3: that's that that's he held his arm. Uh that that
- 9:54Speaker 3: was the ball was clearly a penalty. After that's clearly
- 9:56Speaker 3: a laid hit. That's not even that's not even debatable.
- 9:58Speaker 3: That was clearly laid hit on Bond. I said it
- 10:00Speaker 3: when it happened, like that's a late hit. Oh boy,
- 10:02Speaker 3: they're gonna be.
- 10:03Speaker 1: I wanted to ask you about that because from my
- 10:07Speaker 1: vantage point, which at the stadium where I am now,
- 10:09Speaker 1: we're recording this.
- 10:11Speaker 2: It looked to me like it was a Harvey who
- 10:13Speaker 2: had the ball.
- 10:13Speaker 4: It was a short Yeah, agree with me. By the
- 10:16Speaker 4: way that that that that was late.
- 10:19Speaker 2: I didn't get a full view of it. That's why
- 10:21Speaker 2: I'm asking.
- 10:24Speaker 3: That's he wasn't he was not, Yeah, he was just
- 10:27Speaker 3: asking down and after yeah, after after Bond hit him late.
- 10:32Speaker 4: Then he tried to get up.
- 10:33Speaker 3: But maybe he because he probably thought I mean, maybe
- 10:37Speaker 3: Harvey thought something else, but he clearly it was clearly late.
- 10:39Speaker 4: It was it was just unnecessary that they had him down. Like,
- 10:42Speaker 4: that's our job here, folks, is to not take side.
- 10:46Speaker 3: So the Eagles related show, obviously we go by what
- 10:49Speaker 3: we know by rules, but the referees, look, it's let's
- 10:52Speaker 3: put it this way. With the referees, the worst refereeing
- 10:55Speaker 3: in all sports is balls and strikes and baseball. If
- 10:58Speaker 3: you watched baseball and off, it's terrible. It's the worst
- 11:00Speaker 3: ever seen in my lifetime. Yes, and that's why you
- 11:02Speaker 3: talk about robots robot oms. But I just wish the
- 11:05Speaker 3: physical play was consistent from game to game. If you're
- 11:07Speaker 3: gonna let physical play happen, let it happen. If you're not,
- 11:11Speaker 3: then called to the to buy the book. There's a
- 11:14Speaker 3: lot of hand and there's a lot of hand fighting,
- 11:19Speaker 3: so speak and they let it go and then sometimes
- 11:22Speaker 3: they don't.
- 11:22Speaker 4: They call it it's just inconsistent.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Hey, fall is planting season.

- 13:45Speaker 2: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans twenty
- 13:49Speaker 2: one and up. Yes, and I would say this is
- 13:52Speaker 2: not on the officials, but it was an accurate call.
- 13:55Speaker 2: But what really really hurt the Eagles because they had
- 13:58Speaker 2: a chance there even after their fall behind, was the
- 14:01Speaker 2: beautiful fourth and fourth connection between Jalen Hurts and DeVante
- 14:04Speaker 2: Smith on the left side, negated by the illegal shift
- 14:08Speaker 2: or motion it is by Barkley. I don't know, like
- 14:13Speaker 2: you put so much into a game and trying to win.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I don't know how they can watch that on film
- 14:17Speaker 1: the next day and not want to vomit, because there's a.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Good chance if that's I know, that's a good chance
- 14:23Speaker 2: to score there.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Yeah, Barkley had to be set. That was a beautiful play.
- 14:26Speaker 3: You're absolutely right, Barkley knows the role. You got to
- 14:29Speaker 3: be set before the snap, which I absolutely hate. They
- 14:34Speaker 3: should just say you have to, you have to you
- 14:36Speaker 3: have to simulate being stopped or something, because that's ridiculous.
- 14:39Speaker 3: But it's by the by the role of the penalty.
- 14:42Speaker 3: It's a damn shame. Self inflicted wounds. Brett Toath had
- 14:46Speaker 3: a hold on a on a nice play, which is
- 14:48Speaker 3: unfortunately he replaced Dickerson. By the way, it's it's a
- 14:53Speaker 3: it's a weird it was a weird game. They're gonna
- 14:55Speaker 3: look back to how the hell do we lose this
- 14:57Speaker 3: game up seventeen to three? A lot of see this
- 15:00Speaker 3: is the thing that I know fans are gonna be pissed.
- 15:02Speaker 3: They lost for the first the only second time in
- 15:05Speaker 3: twenty two games. They had won twenty out of twenty one.
- 15:07Speaker 3: First time in eleven games they lost at home.
- 15:09Speaker 4: But they'll be upset that. It's one thing if it
- 15:12Speaker 4: was like.
- 15:14Speaker 3: Twenty seven to twenty four, went back and forth, back
- 15:16Speaker 3: and forth, and back and forth. But they blew at
- 15:17Speaker 3: seventeen three, laid head into the fourth court. Yes, Denver
- 15:21Speaker 3: was driving early in the fourth and they did score.
- 15:24Speaker 3: But there's a lot of good. By the way, there's
- 15:26Speaker 3: a lot of good oh, by the way, and let's
- 15:28Speaker 3: get to defense at a second.
- 15:30Speaker 4: We had a signing of somebody for the first time
- 15:32Speaker 4: this season.
- 15:33Speaker 2: We did, But it's a finishing up on offense.
- 15:35Speaker 1: I was I just wonder about the sustainability of what
- 15:39Speaker 1: they were able to do early against Denver, using that
- 15:41Speaker 1: pop pass, using the RPOs, getting the quick game, because
- 15:44Speaker 1: Denver plays a style of defense where they attack you
- 15:47Speaker 1: with so many guys that it sets up for that,
- 15:49Speaker 1: right it's quick, it's one on ones they give you.
- 15:51Speaker 2: You got it.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Like the Giants are gonna blitz seven or eight guys.
- 15:54Speaker 1: The Vikings will in two weeks. They're like that Bland
- 15:56Speaker 1: floors will come at them. It's just like Bolls did
- 15:59Speaker 1: and eventually had to stop. But this offense, really, I'd
- 16:03Speaker 1: like to say it found something at least even in.
- 16:06Speaker 2: A loss by the first half.
- 16:07Speaker 1: But I don't know, Like you can't live on that
- 16:10Speaker 1: kind of offense alone. You've got to find some more consistency.
- 16:12Speaker 1: But maybe just getting the ball to Devonte Deep and
- 16:16Speaker 1: getting the ball to Goddard and getting the ball to
- 16:18Speaker 1: aj Brown.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Even in this function of an offense, just gets.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Them going a little bit more going into this Giants
- 16:24Speaker 1: game on Thursday night.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Yeah, and look they Barclay had the seventeen yard run,
- 16:28Speaker 3: which was really nice. I'm like, all right, great they
- 16:30Speaker 3: have They put a good run on the board, and
- 16:32Speaker 3: then they kind of went away from him. It was interesting,
- 16:35Speaker 3: but it's hard to argue because their passing game was efficient.
- 16:39Speaker 4: Hurts was really efficient. They got out of his hands quickly.
- 16:41Speaker 3: But then the loss of Dickerson showed up self inflicted
- 16:45Speaker 3: wounds in the pass the game in the second half,
- 16:47Speaker 3: and that that let Denver get in. And then then
- 16:50Speaker 3: the defense, which is really really good for two and
- 16:52Speaker 3: a half quarters, they seemed to be winded to me
- 16:56Speaker 3: a little bit. They seem to get tired. And you
- 16:57Speaker 3: mentioned Bo Nicks as we trained position that we'll get
- 17:01Speaker 3: deep in a minute to the breath of the defense.
- 17:03Speaker 4: But Bo Knicks is a pretty athletic guy. Man.
- 17:06Speaker 3: He they Eagles defense is terrific the first half against him,
- 17:09Speaker 3: but then he was affected on the move.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, all right, let's get to defense in
- 17:15Speaker 1: the second. First, we're gonna stop and hear a word
- 17:17Speaker 1: from our great sponsors. Hey, you know that one guy
- 17:20Speaker 1: in the group chat who hit a five leg Parlay

- 17:26Speaker 4: Sounds like kaplan, right, yeah, yeah, it.

- 19:30Speaker 2: All right.
- 19:31Speaker 1: As we talk about the Eagles defense, Adam It's people
- 19:33Speaker 1: are gonna label it the second half implosion, which is true.
- 19:36Speaker 1: But the Broncos punted on four straight possessions to end
- 19:41Speaker 1: in the second quarter, and then on their first two
- 19:44Speaker 1: possessions of.
- 19:45Speaker 2: The third quarter.
- 19:46Speaker 1: So the Eagles really did a nice job for six
- 19:50Speaker 1: straight possessions. It wasn't really until the fourth quarter that
- 19:54Speaker 1: the Broncos got going there, and I try again. I
- 19:57Speaker 1: looked at the chart, I looked at the plays. I
- 19:59Speaker 1: tried to find what I thought was the swing play
- 20:03Speaker 1: or the moment where things really started to click for them,
- 20:07Speaker 1: and I just go through and I'm like, well, they
- 20:09Speaker 1: had like a nice RJ. Harvey pick up here they
- 20:11Speaker 1: finally got the ball to Courtland Sutton. There there were
- 20:13Speaker 1: a few times where it was a second reaction play
- 20:17Speaker 1: made by Nicks. I don't think there was a backbreaker
- 20:19Speaker 1: so to speak. There were a couple of big third
- 20:21Speaker 1: down conversions, but you know, I don't know if this
- 20:25Speaker 1: makes VIC go back to the drawing board or say,
- 20:28Speaker 1: like tip the cap through the broncos for just converting.
- 20:31Speaker 3: Well on your point about them converting. They started to
- 20:34Speaker 3: go after Ringo a little bit because where he did
- 20:36Speaker 3: a good job the first half. He on one play,
- 20:41Speaker 3: they went after the first quarter because this is clearly
- 20:45Speaker 3: they know that he had trouble stopping, you know, that's
- 20:47Speaker 3: one of the problems with him, with the stiffness. They
- 20:49Speaker 3: went after it then and I was like, wow, he's
- 20:51Speaker 3: holding his own Okay, one panel one play, he clearly
- 20:54Speaker 3: made contact. They didn't call it. He held his own Okay,
- 20:57Speaker 3: then they started going after him. Quinnon gave up a play.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Quinnon held clearly in the end zone. That was a clearhold.
- 21:02Speaker 3: You can't do that, correct, So yeah, they started to
- 21:06Speaker 3: really go after mccurtland. Sutton's physicality took over. It's sooner
- 21:10Speaker 3: later you figured he'd be a factor. They were so
- 21:12Speaker 3: good in the first half. This is an Eagles, a
- 21:14Speaker 3: really good defense.
- 21:15Speaker 2: By the way.
- 21:16Speaker 3: Yeah, you're never going to beat folks. It's hard to
- 21:18Speaker 3: be perfect every week. It's just hard. But they're young,
- 21:21Speaker 3: which you like, and they they show their youth a
- 21:24Speaker 3: little bit in the second half.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I mean well, I mean, just you give
- 21:27Speaker 1: up twenty one points on one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine,
- 21:31Speaker 1: eleven possessions that a lot of coaches will look at
- 21:34Speaker 1: that like point per possession, and that's not especially impressive.
- 21:39Speaker 2: I agree with you on the holding on Quinya, Mitchell.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I do feel like that holding was made possible by
- 21:44Speaker 1: the Eagles not getting a good enough pass rush.
- 21:47Speaker 2: There. Nick's climbed back in the pocket, He rolled to
- 21:49Speaker 2: his right a little bit. He looked around.
- 21:51Speaker 1: He probably saw like, yeah, I'm sure Quinyon noticed that
- 21:54Speaker 1: he had no shot unless he reached his hand out there.
- 21:57Speaker 1: But that to me was one of the few times
- 21:59Speaker 1: where I thought the Eagles weren't able to clamp down
- 22:02Speaker 1: and get and at least forced Nicks into a difficult throw.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Yeah, and by the way, so Zadarius Smith got his sack.
- 22:08Speaker 3: I'm looking my notes here on a stunt. He was
- 22:10Speaker 3: a looper, really nice play. Also Bond got one. They
- 22:14Speaker 3: only had two sacks, but we saw it, and he
- 22:17Speaker 3: had one really quality rush. Oja Lari had a one
- 22:20Speaker 3: beautiful rush in the first half. Uh, you know, so
- 22:23Speaker 3: he And then what was interesting is that Byron Young,
- 22:26Speaker 3: we have to see what the snamp counts looked like.
- 22:28Speaker 3: He was subbing in for for Jordan Davids. Jordan Davis
- 22:30Speaker 3: didn't seem like he play his usual amount of STAPs.
- 22:32Speaker 3: But well, we'll see what the stamp council looked like.
- 22:34Speaker 3: So overall, uh, there's no way to know this. It's
- 22:40Speaker 3: the players probably would would admit it anyway. They could
- 22:42Speaker 3: have gotten a little tired of the second half. Just
- 22:44Speaker 3: that bow Knicks man.
- 22:46Speaker 4: They completely shut him down the first half.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Yep.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Then he started making some plays and the passed the
- 22:52Speaker 3: touchdown pass was to Ingram was nice. Yeah, and you know,
- 22:56Speaker 3: overall here it was one of those games. It was
- 22:59Speaker 3: it was there for the win. It wasn't like they
- 23:01Speaker 3: were beaten by by being down early and having to
- 23:04Speaker 3: come back and then losing.
- 23:05Speaker 4: They had the lead seventeen to three and blew it
- 23:07Speaker 4: in the fourth quarter.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Yes, and by the way, the real if you're looking
- 23:10Speaker 1: for the one backbreaker when it was a one possession game,
- 23:13Speaker 1: the Broncos were at third and fifteen and they converted it.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Just remember the offensive pass interference, all right, they put
- 23:20Speaker 1: him at third and fifteen, they converted it. Yes, I
- 23:24Speaker 1: agree with you on that as well. Nick to Sutton
- 23:27Speaker 1: for thirty four yards on the right side. I think
- 23:30Speaker 1: what happened was Mitchell slipped a little bit. He did
- 23:32Speaker 1: get up, but Nicks put a really nice ball between
- 23:34Speaker 1: three guys there and then he kind of wiggled out
- 23:37Speaker 1: of it and got more yards. So that really was
- 23:40Speaker 1: the backbreaker because the very next play was the eleven
- 23:42Speaker 1: yard touchdown to Ingram. And you know what, Sean Payton,
- 23:45Speaker 1: you got to give him credit. He knew there was
- 23:47Speaker 1: a lot of time left, he knew about the analytics,
- 23:50Speaker 1: and you know, you could just say, well, it's easy,
- 23:52Speaker 1: it's already determined, but not every coach will do it.
- 23:54Speaker 1: But going for two, there was a really bright move
- 23:56Speaker 1: by him.
- 23:56Speaker 4: How about that move?
- 23:57Speaker 1: Wow?
- 23:57Speaker 4: Yeah, because it did a little bit early by but
- 24:01Speaker 4: it worked out.
- 24:02Speaker 3: So that was that was an interesting finish it it.
- 24:07Speaker 3: It was one of these situations because they you see
- 24:10Speaker 3: bo Nicks is he's kind of like Hurts. He's you
- 24:13Speaker 3: gotta really squash him because he's got he's got a
- 24:16Speaker 3: lot of energy, he's got a lot of moxie to him.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Right when you think you have him down, he comes back.
- 24:23Speaker 3: And he did bring them back, but he did not
- 24:25Speaker 3: play well in the first day. He rushed them, froze,
- 24:27Speaker 3: he goes got to him a little bit, They got
- 24:28Speaker 3: into his head a little bit.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Yeah, he was like Jalen Hurts. He's like Jalen Hurts.
- 24:32Speaker 1: You had he just had a terrible half and then
- 24:34Speaker 1: all of a sudden he had a great half.
- 24:35Speaker 3: He seemed like you have him down, you have him down,
- 24:37Speaker 3: it looks bad and then he's got he's got a
- 24:40Speaker 3: mental toughness to him.
- 24:41Speaker 4: And JK.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Dobmonds we didn't mention him, man, man, they they he's
- 24:45Speaker 3: a start and star vision runner. They got him pretty
- 24:47Speaker 3: good in the first half and then he started to
- 24:49Speaker 3: gash him a little bit. Harvey in the past game,
- 24:52Speaker 3: I got to give Tyler Baby credit and pass protection.
- 24:54Speaker 3: He did a really good job. He's Stona. He's their
- 24:57Speaker 3: third down back and Harry up back. You might remember
- 24:59Speaker 3: as a drafted by the Ravens. He hits some pretty
- 25:02Speaker 3: good He hit some pretty good blocks Marvin Mims. They
- 25:05Speaker 3: try to get him involved. He did a good job
- 25:07Speaker 3: on the downfield passing him because they've got Franklin could run.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Sutton's a possession. He's a he's what he is is.
- 25:13Speaker 3: He's a contested catch guy. Courtland Sutton and I just thought, look,
- 25:17Speaker 3: it's a shame they lost this game. But there's nothing
- 25:19Speaker 3: like defensively, oh boy, they got other than we know.
- 25:21Speaker 3: Their past rush it's got some issues. It's not going
- 25:24Speaker 3: to go away.
- 25:26Speaker 2: And their pass offense and consistent.
- 25:29Speaker 3: We're right, we'll get that side. But defectively, okay, the
- 25:32Speaker 3: pass rush is average. It's not terrible, but it's something
- 25:37Speaker 3: that is they're gonna have to continue to look at
- 25:39Speaker 3: towards the trade deadline at the end of this month.
- 25:42Speaker 3: In the second corner, we'll see what Greg Coseel says
- 25:45Speaker 3: when we we do the tape show on Monday, when
- 25:48Speaker 3: we when we talked to Greg, but we'll see what
- 25:50Speaker 3: he thought about Ringo.
- 25:51Speaker 4: But we knew going in to the season it was.
- 25:53Speaker 3: A problem, and Vic Fangers said enough of enough of
- 25:57Speaker 3: Dowey Jackson, who was healthy enough to play.
- 25:59Speaker 4: He went Ringo.
- 26:01Speaker 1: He did that was a surprise, not a surprise move.
- 26:03Speaker 1: It kind of foreshadowed it. Yeah, yeah, only because and
- 26:07Speaker 1: Vick even foreshadowed it. He was asked in his last
- 26:09Speaker 1: press conference, And I think on Tuesday, you know, if
- 26:12Speaker 1: if a door could go, is Ringo gonna plays Ringo
- 26:15Speaker 1: back and he goes not necessarily back to the bench
- 26:17Speaker 1: and he goes.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Not necessarily, So he was foreshadowing it there there.
- 26:21Speaker 1: I don't feel like they have lost this game or
- 26:24Speaker 1: or imploded in other games because of the number two corner.
- 26:27Speaker 1: It's not great, but it's not killing them. I think
- 26:29Speaker 1: the inconsistent pass rush, to your point, is more of
- 26:33Speaker 1: an issue.
- 26:34Speaker 2: I don't think Quinn.
- 26:35Speaker 1: I think if you were to say, of the five
- 26:37Speaker 1: games they've played this this year, this was Quinnon Mitchell's
- 26:41Speaker 1: worst of the five. I'm willing to give him a
- 26:43Speaker 1: pass because he's played great in four of them. But
- 26:45Speaker 1: he not only committed some penalties, but he got beat
- 26:48Speaker 1: a couple of times by Sutton as well in some
- 26:51Speaker 1: key moments that that's gonna happen, you know, Patrick certain
- 26:53Speaker 1: got beat by a J.
- 26:54Speaker 2: Brown on some one on ones. It's it's gonna happen.
- 26:57Speaker 1: But when you're playing a close game and it's one
- 27:00Speaker 1: possession and you're going back and forth, they stand out
- 27:02Speaker 1: a little bit more when you lose.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Yeah, and the Eagles had nine accepted penalties. And although
- 27:07Speaker 3: what's funny is Denver in twelve.
- 27:10Speaker 4: Game, Yeah, it was. That's why I'm saying.
- 27:13Speaker 3: I'm not if I'm an Eagles fan, I'm not really
- 27:15Speaker 3: worried about this game getting to offense.
- 27:17Speaker 4: You knew about the inconsistency.
- 27:19Speaker 3: The running game has been poor the whole season, you
- 27:22Speaker 3: know early obviously they've only played five games, but the.
- 27:26Speaker 4: Passing game has been uneven. But the Eagles don't have
- 27:29Speaker 4: a traditional pass game. You have to understand it.
- 27:31Speaker 3: And I know you're saying earlier, well, they have to, Okay,
- 27:33Speaker 3: so they did this quick game and at work until
- 27:36Speaker 3: Denver started figuring out. Okay, but the traditional pass game
- 27:40Speaker 3: is to twenty twenty two. Where it was it was
- 27:42Speaker 3: traditional doubt, it was downfield passing game. Now it's what
- 27:47Speaker 3: is it? They don't have an identity yet. It's evolving,
- 27:51Speaker 3: but they're trying. Here's here's what I'll tell you though.
- 27:53Speaker 3: At least they're trying. They're trying to help hers. That's
- 27:55Speaker 3: better coaching. It's still working progress.
- 27:57Speaker 4: Let's call it what is. It's still a major work
- 27:59Speaker 4: in progress.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Let's finish it off with this. I'm very curious.
- 28:02Speaker 1: I think it's almost good that the Egals have a
- 28:04Speaker 1: quick turnaround, just a couple of walkthroughs before Thursday night's game,
- 28:08Speaker 1: because this is still probably frustrating for a j Brown.
- 28:12Speaker 1: He only saw he saw eight targets, but only five
- 28:14Speaker 1: catches for forty something yards, not getting him the ball deep.
- 28:18Speaker 1: There was that one opportunity where he and Jalen were
- 28:21Speaker 1: not on the same page.
- 28:22Speaker 2: It looked like AJ stopped his route.
- 28:24Speaker 1: He said he didn't see Jayalen was actually pump faking
- 28:27Speaker 1: and throwing it to him and went over his head.
- 28:29Speaker 1: That would have been a really that could have been
- 28:30Speaker 1: an easy touchdown. But that just shows you that the
- 28:33Speaker 1: rhythm between those two is not great, And I just wonder,
- 28:37Speaker 1: you know, we've talked about this a little bit, but
- 28:39Speaker 1: this might be a little touch. Just one loss, but
- 28:42Speaker 1: no more Kelsey, no more Fletcher Cox, no more Brandon Graham.
- 28:45Speaker 1: You got young guys who are now leaders who may
- 28:48Speaker 1: be thrust in that position a little early. And it
- 28:51Speaker 1: wasn't a great week for them internally because of the
- 28:53Speaker 1: AJ Brown. And then all of a sudden you see
- 28:55Speaker 1: media reports on uh oh, both the wide receivers are
- 28:58Speaker 1: up saying they want the ball.
- 29:00Speaker 2: They've actually both come out publicly and said they want
- 29:03Speaker 2: the ball, right, But the regardless is it's true they
- 29:06Speaker 2: want the ball and they want this pass offense to
- 29:08Speaker 2: look better, and it didn't look great after you know,
- 29:12Speaker 2: two quarters. So I wonder how this team, which has been.
- 29:16Speaker 1: A very good glue team throughout the last few years,
- 29:19Speaker 1: You just wonder how they respond to a loss like this.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Well, they play a giants team in the Meadowlands or
- 29:26Speaker 3: excuse me, MetLife Stadium, a giant team that was up
- 29:31Speaker 3: at one point fourteen to three. They wound up getting
- 29:34Speaker 3: outscored twenty three to nothing the second half.
- 29:36Speaker 4: So yeah, they're terrible.
- 29:38Speaker 3: They're just a bad Scatterbo had a bad fumble a
- 29:42Speaker 3: darts start turned the ball over. Remember they don't have
- 29:44Speaker 3: the elite neighbors towards ACL. They're a train wreck. So this
- 29:47Speaker 3: is a good team to get well against. And it's
- 29:50Speaker 3: not like this is a good division Dallas had to
- 29:52Speaker 3: laugh for against the cow against The Jets are terrible.
- 29:56Speaker 4: They're not gonna bad, They're really bad.
- 29:58Speaker 3: But bottom line is Stills are still the class of
- 30:01Speaker 3: the NCS, so one of the best teams the National Footballague.
- 30:03Speaker 1: All is not lost, Nope, nope, nope. But I think
- 30:07Speaker 1: if you're a fan, you just wish they lost in
- 30:09Speaker 1: a different way. And it's not the same thing that's
- 30:11Speaker 1: kind of rearing its ugly head, this inability to play
- 30:13Speaker 1: four quarters. But that's why with the Giants on deck,
- 30:16Speaker 1: maybe it's a good chance to get everything together.
