- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Very noisy in here today, lots of talking.
- 0:33Sammy has apparently a big message and or she's anxious
- 0:37about something, I have no idea. But I will say this, it
- 0:41represents how I feel today because I have this very big
- 0:46excitement that comes over me in the spring, but it can easily
- 0:49morph into feeling behind and it can easily morph into oh, if I'd
- 0:54only done this sooner. Oh, if only this had happened.
- 0:56Oh, if only that had happened. And I start going down that only
- 1:00if road or damn it, I should have done this sooner.
- 1:03And when I, my head gets like that, it causes me to, to, to
- 1:09really feel like I, I am taking the wrong approach.
- 1:15I know that, but it causes me to want to pull an all nighter, let
- 1:19me get back on track. And I don't want to do those
- 1:23things anymore. I'm not at the age where I want
- 1:24to do that, but that's my inclination almost
- 1:27instantaneously. So tonight's the night, we lose
- 1:31an hour of sleep. And so I'm like, well, that
- 1:35means it's lighter earlier in the morning, which means I could
- 1:37get outside, which means I could do this, which means I could do
- 1:40this. And I start to pile on to
- 1:43myself. Now I'm, I'm not doing that from
- 1:46inspiration. I'm doing that from the
- 1:48desperation of feeling behind and I know it.
- 1:52So today's podcast is about me calling myself out on the fact
- 1:56that I'm doing that to myself and really letting everyone know
- 2:00that no matter how much you do this, no matter how much you try
- 2:04to work with your emotions, there's always a part of you
- 2:08that has to be on it. You have to be on it all the
- 2:11time. Because if you don't, they will
- 2:13sneak up and they will get you. And that is exactly what's
- 2:15happening with me. Like I, I know, OK, I have all
- 2:21kinds of stuff ready and I have all kinds of stuff that's not
- 2:24ready. And there are areas in my world
- 2:27where I am ahead, IE paperwork and taxes and all of that way
- 2:32ahead of where I normally AM, am in the year because I'm, I was
- 2:35always a late filer and guess what?
- 2:37Now I'm not. But this is one of those things
- 2:41where I'm like, holy cow, I, I can't even see the winds when I
- 2:46start that track of going, I'm behind, I'm behind, I'm behind,
- 2:50I'm behind. I should have bulbs already in
- 2:52the ground. I still have bulbs that haven't
- 2:53been put in the ground. So this is a call out to myself.
- 2:58This is me saying stop it. This is me saying, OK, we're
- 3:02going to go. We're going to sit down.
- 3:04We're going to write a plan. We're not going to panic.
- 3:06And even though, you know, this is one of those times where I'm
- 3:10going to be traveling two days this week, speaking on Tuesday
- 3:13afternoon, I'm going to be doing work that's outside my norm.
- 3:19That's exciting stuff to be doing.
- 3:23I have to shut up and leave myself alone.
- 3:25I have to give myself a break. I have to get the brain dump out
- 3:28on the paper, make the plan, schedule it and look at the
- 3:32whole month so I can shut my head up.
- 3:35Because by the end of the month, I will be caught up.
- 3:38By the end of the month, I will be where I want to be.
- 3:41It's just that I'm not there today and I'm beating myself up
- 3:44for it. And I know all of you do it too
- 3:47because I talked to so many people.
- 3:48I have so many clients and they all say they do it and then we
- 3:51work through it. But right now I know my head is
- 3:54in the thick of it. So I'm going to challenge
- 3:57everybody that if your head is in the thick of it, if you're
- 3:59feeling it, do the brain dump, get it out, call yourself out,
- 4:03say enough is enough, Say no, we're not doing that.
- 4:05That doesn't work. If I'm in that headspace, I'm
- 4:08not going to be as productive as I could be.
- 4:10So even as I'm standing here recording this, I'm walking and
- 4:13pacing inside the chicken run, and they're all out already
- 4:16except for the ones that are laying eggs.
- 4:18And I'm looking at this beautiful rose Bush that's just
- 4:20starting to leaf out. And I can see that there are
- 4:24some dead heads on it. And I'm like, damn, how did I
- 4:27miss those? And I got aggravated with myself
- 4:31while I was doing this. So instead of being that way, go
- 4:35get the Clippers. Take care of it.
- 4:36It's one minute's worth of work, but I'm not going to beat myself
- 4:40up for it. So do you see the point, my
- 4:43friends? Put it on paper.
- 4:45Get it out of your head. Stop doing that.
- 4:47Look at a month. Plan each thing and give
- 4:50yourself that space. Otherwise, the you'll be doing
- 4:53the tasks with the anxiety and the frustration that these
- 4:56emotions and these moments create.
- 4:58And we don't want that. We want it to be pragmatic,
- 5:01steady, the steady Eddie one. OK, just going through it.
- 5:05All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I
- 5:08will see you tomorrow with a big, a bigger, better calendar
- 5:11that's thick with things laid out.
- 5:13Have a blessed day, my friends. Bye.
