- 0:00Speaker 1: We are out of the gates on sport and state.
- 0:02Speaker 1: Glad you're with us. Good morning to you.
- 0:04Speaker 2: He's Chad Withrow. I'm Jonathan Hutton.
- 0:06Speaker 1: This is Hutton and Withrow on sport and state live
- 0:10Speaker 1: on YouTube as well. A lot to hit on throughout
- 0:14Speaker 1: today's show.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Jam-packed.
- 0:15Speaker 1: We're talking worst vibes for programs across college football. The
- 0:19Speaker 1: top five players in the NFL in a contract year
- 0:23Speaker 1: you should bet on and much more were presented by
- 0:26Speaker 1: Hard Rock Bet.
- 0:27Speaker 2: You can roll with us at HardRock.bet slash Clay. Chad,
- 0:32Speaker 2: good morning. Good morning, Hutton. I smoked some pork chops yesterday.
- 0:36Speaker 2: I sent you the picture. I saw them. They look great, man.
- 0:38Speaker 2: It was great. I tried the sear method. I pumped
- 0:40Speaker 2: that puppy up to about 400 degrees right before pulling
- 0:43Speaker 2: him off the smoker and seared the outside. Delicious. So
- 0:47Speaker 2: I'm in a good mood. I've eaten the meats. I'm
- 0:51Speaker 2: proteined up. I'm caffeinated up. I am ready to go.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Maybe we'll come up with another word like masturbatory at
- 0:57Speaker 2: some point today. Well done. That we can bring back
- 0:59Speaker 2: into the lexicon. That's the hope for today. Is the
- 1:02Speaker 2: pork chop the toughest to smoke? No, not at all.
- 1:05Speaker 2: In fact, one of the easiest, believe it or not.
- 1:07Speaker 2: It's only about an hour. And you cook it pretty low.
- 1:10Speaker 2: It's like 225, 250 for an hour. At restaurants, everyone
- 1:14Speaker 2: is so critical about the pork chop. Well, people can
- 1:17Speaker 2: be very precious about their pork. And this is the
- 1:20Speaker 2: issue with that. It's the lowest temperature to reach your
- 1:24Speaker 2: internal temp where it's okay. But also, if you don't
- 1:27Speaker 2: get there, the chance of getting sick from bad pork
- 1:30Speaker 2: is way higher with trichinosis. So you want it right
- 1:34Speaker 2: in a range of like 145 to 152. And anything
- 1:39Speaker 2: over that, it gets chewy and rubbery. But if you
- 1:40Speaker 2: get it right around 145, 150, you're perfect. This is
- 1:45Speaker 2: our meat corner on the show. Now, I wasn't expecting
- 1:48Speaker 2: to dive into this, but I could talk pork all day.
- 1:51Speaker 2: But pork chops are great on the smoker. I asked
- 1:54Speaker 2: that question too. It's really good.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Solely to show off your expertise here, because you have
- 1:58Speaker 1: gone from novice to craftsman. on this over the last year.
- 2:03Speaker 2: So much so that we are going to oxford mississippi
- 2:06Speaker 2: we're going to start having uh some sec centric shows
- 2:09Speaker 2: around big events and big games on friday night and
- 2:13Speaker 2: we can go ahead and announce this we're going to
- 2:14Speaker 2: be doing a friday night show um from funkies on
- 2:18Speaker 2: the square in oxford mississippi the night before the lane
- 2:21Speaker 2: train rolls into town and lsu and all this and
- 2:25Speaker 2: um the house that we're staying at Hutton has a
- 2:28Speaker 2: giant smoker. And I'm even thinking, I'm like, I might
- 2:32Speaker 2: get some meat for you boys and smoke it up
- 2:34Speaker 2: that Saturday if we're at the house watching football. So
- 2:37Speaker 2: that could be something that happens. Also, it might be
- 2:39Speaker 2: something I'm not interested in doing on that Saturday. We'll
- 2:42Speaker 2: see how things are going. We'll see how everybody's doing.
- 2:44Speaker 2: It's going to be great. Maybe we'll have power. Maybe
- 2:47Speaker 2: we won't.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I'm guessing we'll have it restored prior to the timeframe
- 2:52Speaker 1: that we saw last night for Florida State. I was
- 2:55Speaker 1: a part of the longest game in NFL history between
- 2:59Speaker 1: the Titans and Dolphins on a broadcast. It was seven
- 3:03Speaker 1: plus hours, nearly eight hours to get the game done.
- 3:06Speaker 1: I know what it's like to fill the time with
- 3:08Speaker 1: all of this and the uncertainty of anybody giving you
- 3:11Speaker 1: any information whatsoever. That's exactly what I felt. I felt
- 3:14Speaker 1: for the broadcast crew last night more than anything, waiting
- 3:17Speaker 1: that thing out. And quite frankly, Chad, I'm surprised they
- 3:20Speaker 1: didn't move it to today.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Yeah, Taylor McGregor, I thought, shout out to her. I
- 3:25Speaker 2: thought she did a good job with ESPN on the sideline.
- 3:28Speaker 2: At one point, it could have gone really badly, but
- 3:31Speaker 2: they came back from a break, and it was her
- 3:33Speaker 2: mic that was in program that was talking to a producer.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 3:37Speaker 2: And you could hear their conversation. And she said, okay,
- 3:40Speaker 2: so I'm going to go to both the coach and
- 3:42Speaker 2: the AD and figure out contingencies on what happens if
- 3:45Speaker 2: this happens in timing. And you could tell she's just
- 3:48Speaker 2: talking normally to her producer that he says something like, yeah,
- 3:51Speaker 2: we're going to do this. And then they immediately cut
- 3:52Speaker 2: to the host, who's I don't know her last name,
- 3:55Speaker 2: but I think her name was also Taylor because I
- 3:57Speaker 2: was thrown off. But they kept going, OK, now we
- 3:58Speaker 2: go to Taylor. Well, Taylor, I was talking and they
- 4:00Speaker 2: were going back and forth, calling each other Taylor. Good
- 4:03Speaker 2: job by the broadcast crew. I thought during that whole thing,
- 4:07Speaker 2: it was crazy. I had a buddy text me and say,
- 4:10Speaker 2: is this Tallahassee or Tehran? When you're looking at this
- 4:13Speaker 2: game like they tried to reset the power. and they
- 4:17Speaker 2: blew the whole thing out. So a car hit a
- 4:21Speaker 2: transporter or something? Is that what I saw? So Danny
- 4:25Speaker 2: Connell is claiming that the night before, and they did
- 4:28Speaker 2: say this, that there was a power outage the night before,
- 4:30Speaker 2: but they kept saying because of storms in the area.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Danny Connell is saying some Florida State student was speeding,
- 4:37Speaker 2: lost control, and hit a substation. Yes. And that's what
- 4:41Speaker 2: happened the night before.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Busted with the Boys has a video that they say is...
- 4:46Speaker 1: claiming to be the video of that car yeah uh
- 4:49Speaker 1: it looks i mean there's airbags out and all that
- 4:51Speaker 1: i mean i again i don't i don't know if
- 4:53Speaker 1: that's the real accident or not they didn't say it
- 4:57Speaker 1: you know they didn't confirm that um but yeah i
- 5:00Speaker 1: mean it's just one of those deals florida this time
- 5:03Speaker 1: of year chad i've said this for years uh the
- 5:06Speaker 1: miami dolphins should not be playing home games in september
- 5:09Speaker 1: and you know tallahassee is right there too it just
- 5:11Speaker 1: the weather is so uncertain And, you know, hurricanes, everything
- 5:15Speaker 1: else will just push back games. They should be on
- 5:18Speaker 1: the road just because of the weather. This wasn't that.
- 5:22Speaker 1: But I'm surprised they're not playing today in the middle
- 5:25Speaker 1: of the day instead of under the lights or half
- 5:27Speaker 1: the lights. Because you could tell that all the lights
- 5:29Speaker 1: were not on full time.
- 5:31Speaker 2: Well, and they kept on, you know, trying to say, guys,
- 5:33Speaker 2: you know, this was weather last night, but there's no
- 5:36Speaker 2: weather right now. So this is something else. I mean, again,
- 5:40Speaker 2: I thought the broadcast did a good job of keeping
- 5:41Speaker 2: everybody informed. I would ask the question, why not just
- 5:44Speaker 2: come back and play it today? Now, I understand there
- 5:48Speaker 2: are limited hotels in a city like Tallahassee, and there
- 5:52Speaker 2: may have been hotel considerations because SMU was trying to
- 5:54Speaker 2: get out after that game.
- 5:55Speaker 3: Sure, yeah.
- 5:56Speaker 2: And that was their schedule the whole time. Was that
- 5:58Speaker 2: hotel booked up? Were they going to have to kick
- 6:00Speaker 2: people out with reservations to keep the team in that
- 6:03Speaker 2: same hotel another night? I have no idea. I did
- 6:07Speaker 2: like what Jimbo Fisher had to say on this. I
- 6:09Speaker 2: did too. He was good.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Because.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Look, we're a show. We try to be a show
- 6:14Speaker 2: of the people, right? We're fans of the sport, too.
- 6:16Speaker 2: We understand. We want to look out for fans and
- 6:18Speaker 2: all that. But Jimbo was basically like, screw the fans.
- 6:22Speaker 2: I mean, they're going to come back or they're not
- 6:24Speaker 2: tomorrow because they're saying, well, everybody has a ticket, and
- 6:27Speaker 2: then what do you do with that? It's like, you
- 6:28Speaker 2: tell them they can come back tomorrow. If not, you
- 6:30Speaker 2: give them some credits or something for a future game
- 6:33Speaker 2: or whatever. Yeah. But he's like, you know, there are
- 6:34Speaker 2: jobs on the line here, is what he was saying.
- 6:37Speaker 2: He's like, there are people getting paid money to play, too. Like,
- 6:40Speaker 2: there's a lot happening with the coaches and players. You
- 6:42Speaker 2: want to give them the best chance on both sides,
- 6:45Speaker 2: you know, to have a functional game and a setup
- 6:48Speaker 2: that would be somewhat normal to what they were expecting
- 6:51Speaker 2: and what they were preparing for. with communication in the
- 6:55Speaker 2: helmet and everything else that was down. Now, it felt
- 6:58Speaker 2: like they got everything going by the second quarter for
- 7:01Speaker 2: the most part. I know replay was an issue, but
- 7:03Speaker 2: a lot of the communication, I know the scoreboard got synced, which,
- 7:06Speaker 2: by the way, bravo, ACC. Your scoreboard is synced with
- 7:10Speaker 2: a television broadcast like every other one except for the
- 7:13Speaker 2: Big Ten, apparently.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Did you notice right above the clock on the screen
- 7:18Speaker 1: last night, late in the game, it said, the time
- 7:22Speaker 1: clock is being kept on the field.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Yeah. You notice that? Yeah. They threw that up there.
- 7:26Speaker 2: I don't realize they actually was. Yeah.
- 7:29Speaker 1: But yeah, that was, that was, everybody had to think
- 7:32Speaker 1: the same thing we were thinking when we saw that, um, the, the, uh,
- 7:37Speaker 1: you remember the, the, the state championship game you and
- 7:39Speaker 1: I called Marcel Reed got hurt and we were just tried.
- 7:44Speaker 1: I mean, it was a long delay and you just,
- 7:47Speaker 1: you feel like you're repeating the same thing over and
- 7:49Speaker 1: over and over. That is a long, that's a long
- 7:53Speaker 1: show to fill. And then all of a sudden you
- 7:55Speaker 1: get to halftime and you're like, is the game over? No, it's,
- 7:58Speaker 1: here we go, second half. They did a nice job
- 8:02Speaker 1: and everyone's going to be very critical of that. But yeah,
- 8:06Speaker 1: everyone's going to be repetitive. And I'm surprised they didn't
- 8:08Speaker 1: go back to the booth as much as they should have,
- 8:10Speaker 1: you know, back to the studio. They had the host
- 8:13Speaker 1: talking a lot from the stadium.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Well, and that was their studio. I mean, they had
- 8:17Speaker 2: a really nice setup in the end zone for that
- 8:19Speaker 2: ACC huddle. or whatever show they do for ACC Network
- 8:22Speaker 2: that was there live on site. So they did a
- 8:24Speaker 2: good job turning it into an event with that panel
- 8:27Speaker 2: that was there, and that was their studio. They kept
- 8:29Speaker 2: going back to that, then to Taylor McGregor. They never
- 8:31Speaker 2: really went to the booth, but I can remember very
- 8:34Speaker 2: often they just kept it between Taylor on the sideline
- 8:36Speaker 2: and then that panel, that studio that they had the
- 8:39Speaker 2: whole time. Look, I was amazed that– Hutton, you're way
- 8:44Speaker 2: more into conspiracy theories than I am, but when the
- 8:47Speaker 2: transformer blows five minutes before– Kickoff, I'm thinking, what is
- 8:51Speaker 2: going on? Did Florida State do this? Did they trip
- 8:53Speaker 2: a wire? You got Mike Norvell in danger of losing
- 8:56Speaker 2: his job. A buddy of mine texted me and said,
- 8:59Speaker 2: you know, this would be a good time to fire
- 9:00Speaker 2: Mike Norvell. Because you basically go to him and say, dude,
- 9:05Speaker 2: it's so inept around here right now that we can't
- 9:07Speaker 2: even get the lights on. and the scoreboard working in
- 9:10Speaker 2: time for a game. And I know you have nothing
- 9:11Speaker 2: to do with this, Coach, but this is another sign
- 9:14Speaker 2: that we need to move in a different direction. That
- 9:16Speaker 2: could have been a good time to go ahead and
- 9:17Speaker 2: make that move. Watching the game itself, Hutton, Mike Norvell
- 9:22Speaker 2: looks terrified. Yes. He looks terrified. He was borderline shaking
- 9:27Speaker 2: on the sidelines when the game started. But every fourth
- 9:30Speaker 2: down they went for, it was not going for fourth
- 9:33Speaker 2: down out of any confidence. It was, we're not going
- 9:36Speaker 2: to have many chances to score. We've got to make
- 9:39Speaker 2: something happen right now. I'm looking at the numbers from
- 9:41Speaker 2: last night's game. They passed for 125 yards. They were
- 9:44Speaker 2: 12 for 23. They were giving the football back four times.
- 9:47Speaker 2: There were four turnovers in that game. Five yards per completion.
- 9:51Speaker 2: I mean, just short gains each time. They had to
- 9:53Speaker 2: rely on the run game, but even the run game,
- 9:56Speaker 2: they had 199 yards, which is pretty good. SMU had 155.
- 10:00Speaker 2: The difference was SMU threw for 430 yards in this game.
- 10:03Speaker 2: And you highlighted the big difference in the game. The
- 10:05Speaker 2: only reason it wasn't a blowout was the four turnovers.
- 10:07Speaker 2: It would be a boat race. For SMU. I mean, statistically,
- 10:10Speaker 2: it's not close between those two teams in that game.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Florida State was very, very fortunate to be in that
- 10:17Speaker 2: game the way they were because of the turnovers. And
- 10:20Speaker 2: then to lose that game, I mean, it's not, we're
- 10:22Speaker 2: going to get into the five most, the worst vibes
- 10:25Speaker 2: in college football. I'm not putting Florida State in that
- 10:27Speaker 2: group of five right now, but they're right on the
- 10:29Speaker 2: outside looking in. Because they lost by a field goal
- 10:32Speaker 2: to a top 20 team, you know, there's no huge
- 10:35Speaker 2: shame in that. But also, there's some shame when you
- 10:38Speaker 2: look at how that game actually went down. Isn't it
- 10:41Speaker 2: amazing how Vegas knows? Spreads two and a half.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Spreads two and a half wins on a field goal.
- 10:48Speaker 1: And I don't know if Norvell, if I was Norvell,
- 10:50Speaker 1: I would not be terrified. His buyout, if he gets
- 10:54Speaker 1: fired during the season, is somewhere between $ 46 and $ 51 million.
- 11:00Speaker 1: If he's fired after this season, it's $ 45. 6.
- 11:03Speaker 2: That is incredible. You're right.
- 11:08Speaker 1: He gets off the perception of a guy who's just
- 11:11Speaker 1: so nervous that he's going to lose his job and he's.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Going to be homeless. But the guy's going to get
- 11:16Speaker 2: $ 50 million.
- 11:17Speaker 1: $ 50 million. To fail. Paid to fail in college football.
- 11:20Speaker 1: It is remarkable what these coaches get.
- 11:23Speaker 2: It's crazy. I mean, 2023, I think, maybe? Was that
- 11:26Speaker 2: the year? It was Nick Saban's retirement. Right. So, yeah, 2023. Yes. 2023,
- 11:35Speaker 2: they had that great run. They get snubbed. They should
- 11:37Speaker 2: have been in the playoff. They weren't. Right? That was
- 11:40Speaker 2: the last year. Yes, last year, the 14 playoff. They
- 11:44Speaker 2: get snubbed. A year later, they would have been in easily, obviously,
- 11:46Speaker 2: in the 12 team. 2024, they go 2-10. But after
- 11:49Speaker 2: that 2023 season, all the talk was about Norvell was
- 11:53Speaker 2: going to go to Alabama, right? And then he negotiates
- 11:55Speaker 2: that big contract to not go to Alabama. But you
- 11:59Speaker 2: want to talk about life coming at you fast in
- 12:00Speaker 2: major college football? It goes from Mike Norvell, who could
- 12:03Speaker 2: be the next head coach for the Alabama Crimson Tide,
- 12:06Speaker 2: to know he's going to stay at Florida State, which
- 12:08Speaker 2: at the time everyone said, oh, I get it. You've
- 12:11Speaker 2: already built something. You just had a great season. Just
- 12:13Speaker 2: re-up and keep going at Florida State. The next year, Hutton,
- 12:17Speaker 2: in 2024, they're 2-10 in 2024. Behind the scenes, they're
- 12:22Speaker 2: contemplating suing the ACC. yeah right with North Carolina was
- 12:27Speaker 2: it North Carolina or NC State it was one of
- 12:28Speaker 2: the two um they they're they're contemplating uh but it
- 12:33Speaker 2: was Clemson but it was Florida State that started all
- 12:36Speaker 2: of it you know so they've got all that they
- 12:38Speaker 2: want to keep their coach they're thinking about what are
- 12:40Speaker 2: we going to dependent we don't know what we're doing
- 12:42Speaker 2: um they're they're talking buyout from the contract of the
- 12:46Speaker 2: ACC and then they keep their coach and then they
- 12:49Speaker 2: start losing I mean they bottomed out um It's almost
- 12:53Speaker 2: like they didn't get in and they just, like, gave up. Yeah,
- 12:58Speaker 2: 2-10 the next year. It was bad from the start.
- 13:00Speaker 2: And then last year, you know, they beat Alabama to
- 13:03Speaker 2: open the year. Okay, well, Mike Norvell's back. Florida State's back.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Tommy Castellanos looked good in that game as the quarterback
- 13:10Speaker 2: coming over from Boston College. The team who beat them
- 13:13Speaker 2: the year before, if you remember, to open the season
- 13:15Speaker 2: on Labor Day night in Bill O'Brien's debut. That's right.
- 13:19Speaker 2: They end up losing, I think, seven of their last
- 13:23Speaker 2: nine games or something like that. They go five and
- 13:26Speaker 2: seven on the season. They miss out on a bowl game.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Now it's sort of that Luke Fickle feeling of you
- 13:34Speaker 2: brought them back. Even Scott Frost, remember, at Nebraska, you
- 13:37Speaker 2: brought them back, but there's no real buzz or excitement.
- 13:40Speaker 2: It just feels like if and not when. John, in
- 13:41Speaker 2: our YouTube chat right now, says Mike Gravel will be
- 13:44Speaker 2: getting fired. It's just a matter of when during the
- 13:47Speaker 2: season or after the season. Gus Malzahn is there, right? Yes.
- 13:52Speaker 2: There you go. He's your interim. That's right. If you
- 13:55Speaker 2: decide to go that way. But I'm also watching this
- 13:57Speaker 2: game and I'm thinking, I mean, what is their offense?
- 14:00Speaker 2: You know, I don't know that I have a lot
- 14:02Speaker 2: of faith in Gus Malzahn either. Not that he's going
- 14:05Speaker 2: to get the job permanently, but look, it's a good job.
- 14:09Speaker 2: You want to talk about karma, the fact that it's
- 14:11Speaker 2: Florida State and Clemson that were making the most noise
- 14:14Speaker 2: about being so super valuable to the ACC and wanting
- 14:17Speaker 2: out and doing all these things, and they've been bad
- 14:19Speaker 2: really since doing that. Yeah, I mean, look, I don't
- 14:25Speaker 2: know where this thing ends up for Florida State and
- 14:27Speaker 2: Mike Norvell, but I'm watching that whole delay last night, and...
- 14:32Speaker 2: I can't help but in my mind think Mike Norvell
- 14:33Speaker 2: had something to do with this, even though I know
- 14:35Speaker 2: that he didn't. But if that's what you're thinking, Hutton
- 14:38Speaker 2: starting a season in game number one with all that
- 14:42Speaker 2: pressure on you, and he's looking as nervous and jittery
- 14:45Speaker 2: as he does on the sideline, it's not a good thing.
- 14:48Speaker 2: But you're right about the financials of it. Yeah, early.
- 14:52Speaker 2: He's going to get paid. That's for sure.
- 14:55Speaker 1: I remember during the Dolphins-Titans delay, the weather delay, They
- 15:01Speaker 1: had staff down at the locker room just making peanut
- 15:04Speaker 1: butter and jelly sandwiches for those players. There's no telling,
- 15:08Speaker 1: because you don't really know when the lights are going
- 15:09Speaker 1: to come back on. So there's no telling what the
- 15:12Speaker 1: staff had to do, especially for the road team. The
- 15:16Speaker 1: visitors are supposed to be treated the same way, and
- 15:20Speaker 1: they don't have the great locker room set up that
- 15:25Speaker 1: Florida State would have.
- 15:26Speaker 2: That's not the best... Hey, this is why we have
- 15:32Speaker 2: a YouTube chat. We get fact-checked every now and again,
- 15:34Speaker 2: and we appreciate it from Chris and Brooks. Malzahn retired
- 15:37Speaker 2: in the offseason. So Mike Norvell is the play caller again.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Okay.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Even more of a reason to fire him if you're
- 15:44Speaker 2: Florida State. I mean, you're going to save about a
- 15:47Speaker 2: million and a half. Yeah, so Malzahn retired in the offseason.
- 15:50Speaker 2: He's not anywhere. Chris also says Jimbo is the textbook
- 15:54Speaker 2: on buyout money living, just living on A & M' s money.
- 15:58Speaker 2: I mean, that could be Mike Norvell too. Jimbo Fisher
- 16:01Speaker 2: is amazing to me, watching him at that studio. I
- 16:04Speaker 2: like what he said about, you know, screw the fans, basically.
- 16:07Speaker 2: You know, it's about the players and the coaches here.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Let's get this thing where they can play. And he
- 16:11Speaker 2: was adamant about not playing under those conditions. Hutton, I
- 16:14Speaker 2: also listen to Jimbo Fisher, and I'm like, this dude
- 16:18Speaker 2: won a national title? It's incredible to me when you
- 16:21Speaker 2: hear him talk. Like, this guy was the top of
- 16:24Speaker 2: the sport at one point. I'm not saying he's dumb.
- 16:28Speaker 2: he's just so folksy and like, I, I'm amazed he
- 16:32Speaker 2: was able to rally people the way he was and
- 16:35Speaker 2: organized to the level of a national championship at Florida
- 16:38Speaker 2: state and get all that money from A & M.
- 16:41Speaker 1: He just sounds like an old school coach to me.
- 16:42Speaker 1: He sounds like a coach for the nineties, like a
- 16:44Speaker 1: Spurrier or a Bowden or whatever, you know, like just there. And,
- 16:47Speaker 1: and I mean, if, if Ed Orgeron could do it,
- 16:50Speaker 1: anybody can, uh, did you, they were talking about moving
- 16:54Speaker 1: the game to tomorrow or today. And, um, He goes,
- 16:58Speaker 1: it's not a big deal for SMU. They've got UC Davis.
- 17:01Speaker 2: It's not a big deal. And he's right. But that
- 17:07Speaker 2: was very honest. And yes, he's like, if I've got
- 17:09Speaker 2: UC Davis coming up, then I'm okay staying one extra
- 17:12Speaker 2: night and getting an extra day off to get ready
- 17:15Speaker 2: for it. Which was, I mean, UC Davis, you were
- 17:17Speaker 2: talking about rat poison we'll be talking about later. UC
- 17:20Speaker 2: Davis sitting around like, all right, we got our bulletin
- 17:22Speaker 2: board material for this game coming up against SMU. I mean, look,
- 17:26Speaker 2: you've been around a travel party in the NFL for
- 17:30Speaker 2: a while. It's a bigger undertaking with more players and
- 17:33Speaker 2: more staffers at times in college, but it's very similar
- 17:36Speaker 2: in terms of equipment getting there. The difference is you're
- 17:40Speaker 2: in college towns when you go on the road. So
- 17:42Speaker 2: at times, Tennessee's going to play at Georgia Tech on Saturday.
- 17:45Speaker 2: That's in Atlanta. They're fine with hotel space in the
- 17:48Speaker 2: city of Atlanta of finding that and making sure they
- 17:50Speaker 2: have rooms. But if you're in Tallahassee, which I know
- 17:53Speaker 2: is not the smallest place, there are smaller college locales.
- 17:56Speaker 2: That's right. Can you stay the extra night? I don't
- 17:59Speaker 2: know what the setup was there, if that was even feasible.
- 18:02Speaker 2: I am with Jimbo Fisher, though, that I prefer to
- 18:05Speaker 2: just come back and play it during the day on
- 18:06Speaker 2: a Tuesday. Today at some point, he played at noon,
- 18:08Speaker 2: 1 o'clock, whatever. And if the fans want to come back,
- 18:11Speaker 2: they can. If not, don't. But you want to have
- 18:13Speaker 2: a functioning clock, and you want to have communication working. That,
- 18:18Speaker 2: to me, is more important. You want to have all
- 18:20Speaker 2: the lights working, which they did eventually come back on.
- 18:23Speaker 2: I would demand replay.
- 18:24Speaker 1: The thing, too, like the Michigan game, the way that ended,
- 18:28Speaker 1: I didn't know about the clock on the field versus
- 18:30Speaker 1: what we're seeing, all that stuff. I don't know who's
- 18:35Speaker 1: in charge of that game. Who's making that call if
- 18:38Speaker 1: they make the decision to move it to the next day?
- 18:42Speaker 1: The NFL has a representative at every single game. that
- 18:47Speaker 1: will be on the phone with the commissioner if a
- 18:50Speaker 1: decision like that had to be made. Who's making that call?
- 18:54Speaker 1: Is it just the ACC commissioner in this instance? But
- 18:58Speaker 1: what if it's not a conference game?
- 19:01Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 19:01Speaker 1: I was interested in that. That's a storyline I would
- 19:05Speaker 1: be trying to dig up. So Jim Phillips was there
- 19:07Speaker 1: last night. They didn't make a big deal about it,
- 19:10Speaker 1: but he was on the field. When they had the
- 19:12Speaker 1: coaches meeting, and it was Rhett Lashley and Mike Norvell.
- 19:16Speaker 2: I don't know if Mike Norvell was even out there
- 19:18Speaker 2: at the time. Rhett Lashley was talking to someone who
- 19:19Speaker 2: looked like his AD or director of football ops that
- 19:22Speaker 2: was next to him with an SMU coach's shirt on.
- 19:25Speaker 2: And Jim Phillips was out there with a headset on,
- 19:28Speaker 2: and he was talking to the officials, and he was talking.
- 19:30Speaker 2: It was someone with Florida State, probably the chief of
- 19:33Speaker 2: staff for Mike Norvell also. And they were talking. They
- 19:36Speaker 2: were looking up at the coaches' booth, and they were
- 19:38Speaker 2: gesturing here and there about what was going to be happening.
- 19:41Speaker 2: But Jim Phillips was the one nodding along and organizing
- 19:45Speaker 2: the whole thing for the ACC. So that was a mess.
- 19:49Speaker 2: It was kind of crazy to watch. the whole process,
- 19:51Speaker 2: an hour and 40 minute delay to get to that
- 19:53Speaker 2: point to play the game. But I still watch and
- 19:56Speaker 2: I think it's great they got it in last night and,
- 19:59Speaker 2: you know, it all ended fine and there were no
- 20:02Speaker 2: huge issues or anything. And you had a close game
- 20:04Speaker 2: and SMU wins on a walk off field goal. I'm
- 20:07Speaker 2: also thinking to myself, probably still better if you would
- 20:09Speaker 2: have come back and played that thing today. Uh, a
- 20:12Speaker 2: final thought on it.
- 20:13Speaker 1: It also tells you about the TV travel trucks that
- 20:16Speaker 1: they bring, the power that they, they didn't lose power,
- 20:20Speaker 1: you know, the, with their, with everything they're bringing on
- 20:24Speaker 1: the side to ensure that they don't is, uh, is
- 20:27Speaker 1: also an undertaking. Um, a lot to get to. We have, um,
- 20:31Speaker 1: Arion Carter, who's brilliant in this. Great move by him.
- 20:36Speaker 1: We'll explain coming up. Lane Kiffin's halftime speech has leaked.
- 20:41Speaker 1: And the top five players in the NFL you should
- 20:43Speaker 1: bet on to have a monster year in a contract year.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I love players in contract years. I've got five that
- 20:49Speaker 1: I'll tell you about. But first, Withrow's got the worst
- 20:52Speaker 1: vibes for programs in college football.
- 20:54Speaker 2: That's next.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Here are Sporting State and Hudson Withrow. Chad, it was
- 20:58Speaker 1: a big night for us. We covered We took SMU
- 21:01Speaker 1: over Florida State.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Winners. Two and a half. Winners.
- 21:04Speaker 1: They win on a field goal. Yes, and that's big news.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Also big news, we've partnered with Hard Rock Bet for
- 21:10Speaker 1: the whole season. They're bringing us the odds and lines,

- 22:03Speaker 2: great to have a winning evening. We went in. It was.
- 22:07Speaker 2: We said yesterday it's going to be very straightforward. One
- 22:10Speaker 2: big game tonight. We're going with it. And we took
- 22:13Speaker 2: the winning side by a half a point with SMU
- 22:16Speaker 2: covering that two and a half. For whatever reason, I
- 22:19Speaker 2: thought this kicker was going to miss. I really did.
- 22:22Speaker 2: came out there looking like he was wearing shorts. I
- 22:24Speaker 2: always assume that the college kicker is going to miss.
- 22:27Speaker 2: I've been conditioned to expect just utter failure when they
- 22:30Speaker 2: get out there, especially one wearing Daisy Dukes. If they
- 22:33Speaker 2: get out there and do that, they're going to miss. Yeah, absolutely.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Put on some football pads, man. Look better than a
- 22:41Speaker 1: soccer player out there. Chad, vibes across college football. You've got, what,
- 22:46Speaker 1: five programs? that in college football have the worst vibes
- 22:50Speaker 1: right now just based on the state of their football team?
- 22:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I think we might revisit this throughout the season
- 22:56Speaker 2: too because it's going to change big time. Some of
- 22:59Speaker 2: these teams right now that may have the worst vibes
- 23:00Speaker 2: may have the best vibes in three or four weeks
- 23:03Speaker 2: because of what they've done, right? So we're going to
- 23:05Speaker 2: kind of have a little heat check here on the
- 23:08Speaker 2: show on Tuesdays where we look at the top five
- 23:11Speaker 2: worst vibes in the sport, and then maybe on Wednesday
- 23:13Speaker 2: we come back with the top five best vibes in
- 23:15Speaker 2: the sport. Top five worst vibes. I'm going to go
- 23:18Speaker 2: one through five on this. Number one, your Clemson Tigers. Yeah,
- 23:23Speaker 2: I'm with you. The vibes are about as bad as
- 23:27Speaker 2: that sweater, sweatshirt that we're seeing Dabo wear that's very
- 23:31Speaker 2: old school and very Dabo. And that is exactly the
- 23:34Speaker 2: way this Clemson program feels right now. Look, they are
- 23:36Speaker 2: not with the times. Dabo's not interested in getting with
- 23:40Speaker 2: the times, even if he talks about his change and
- 23:43Speaker 2: how they're going to approach things, this, that. He is
- 23:45Speaker 2: not built for this life in Transfer Portal and NIL.
- 23:50Speaker 2: And that is not a diss on Dabo. It's just reality.
- 23:54Speaker 2: We saw coaches who knew they weren't built for this
- 23:56Speaker 2: life that retired, like a Nick Saban. There's been other coaches,
- 24:02Speaker 2: Tony Bennett in college basketball. He's like, I'm not doing this. Virginia,
- 24:06Speaker 2: I just won't coach. And the other coaches that have
- 24:09Speaker 2: adapted well to it, I think of John Calipari in
- 24:12Speaker 2: college basketball. There's plenty of examples in college football, also
- 24:17Speaker 2: older coaches who have done it for a long time
- 24:19Speaker 2: that have adjusted, and they're doing very well. Dabo's not that.
- 24:23Speaker 2: He's not adjusted well. Clemson looks completely outmatched. I said
- 24:27Speaker 2: it yesterday, but LSU treated them like Kent State in
- 24:31Speaker 2: a bye game to start the season, and that's what
- 24:33Speaker 2: they looked like. It was 51-3 until they scored a
- 24:37Speaker 2: late touchdown. They could have named their score. They could
- 24:40Speaker 2: have kept going. It was truly awful. And if I'm
- 24:44Speaker 2: a Clemson fan right now, the vibes are so bad
- 24:47Speaker 2: because not only did you look terrible in the biggest
- 24:50Speaker 2: game of the college football weekend in front of America
- 24:53Speaker 2: where everyone was watching that game. and watching Lane Kiffin's debut,
- 24:56Speaker 2: given all the drama surrounding Kiffin going into it, but Hutton,
- 25:00Speaker 2: you're handcuffed to the coach. I don't think that Dabo's
- 25:04Speaker 2: going to get fired by Clemson, given what he's done
- 25:07Speaker 2: for the school. He might still get fired. I don't
- 25:09Speaker 2: know what they're thinking, but it feels like you've got
- 25:12Speaker 2: a stubborn coach who's going to have to resign. In
- 25:15Speaker 2: order for you to get a coach who's with the times.
- 25:18Speaker 2: And that's a tough spot to be in right now
- 25:19Speaker 2: if you're a Clemson fan and you've experienced all this success.
- 25:22Speaker 1: And in this era, you're never truly out of it.
- 25:26Speaker 1: You're a year away, really, if you want to be.
- 25:29Speaker 1: But that's not the case there. And I think just
- 25:34Speaker 1: putting the pedal to the floor, so to speak, and
- 25:38Speaker 1: spending money would have him retire just out of principle.
- 25:43Speaker 1: I'm not saying that's what they're going to do. because
- 25:45Speaker 1: he's clearly in charge. What was the caller's name from
- 25:49Speaker 1: the coaches' show?
- 25:51Speaker 2: Oh, was he from Tyler?
- 25:54Speaker 3: Yes.
- 25:55Speaker 2: In Spartanburg? Spartanburg, there it is, yes. Tyler from Spartanburg? Well, Tyler.
- 26:00Speaker 2: I would love to talk with him today. Yeah. He
- 26:03Speaker 2: called in and basically said, I could do.
- 26:04Speaker 1: A better job than you, and then Dabble said, you
- 26:07Speaker 1: could have the job if you want it. Go ahead
- 26:09Speaker 1: and apply with the university. I mean, I would love
- 26:12Speaker 1: to see his resume right now.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Yeah, JT's going to hate me for this, but JT,
- 26:15Speaker 2: if we can find that and get it over to
- 26:18Speaker 2: Lutz to play at some point, I'd love to hear
- 26:20Speaker 2: the audio and see that again and revisit. As Dabo
- 26:24Speaker 2: goes through the five-point argument as to why he should
- 26:27Speaker 2: be the coach and what he thinks about Tyler and
- 26:29Speaker 2: everyone else, that would be great. Brooks in the chat,
- 26:32Speaker 2: by the way, great point, says that he said this yesterday,
- 26:35Speaker 2: but he thinks Dabo and Clemson are in their 2000
- 26:37Speaker 2: FSU Bobby Bowden era. where it was clear for a
- 26:43Speaker 2: while he didn't have it, and Florida State had fallen
- 26:46Speaker 2: on hard times, but he was going to have to retire,
- 26:48Speaker 2: or he was going to have to step away, right?
- 26:50Speaker 2: They weren't going to fire. And then Jimbo Fisher comes in,
- 26:52Speaker 2: and what do they do? They win a national title,
- 26:54Speaker 2: you know, eventually after that. It does feel a little
- 26:57Speaker 2: bit like that.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Chad, because you don't have FSU on your list, let's
- 27:01Speaker 1: mention them here.
- 27:03Speaker 2: This is the state of their program. We have a
- 27:04Speaker 2: video of them.
- 27:07Speaker 1: They're planting the spear to start the game, and it
- 27:10Speaker 1: falls just flat.
- 27:12Speaker 2: On the field. That's also, I would say, your spear
- 27:20Speaker 2: is limp.
- 27:21Speaker 1: I mean, you've got to make sure this goes into
- 27:24Speaker 1: the ground.
- 27:24Speaker 2: It just falls back. I love that so much. It
- 27:30Speaker 2: reminds me of Tommy Boy. That sail is limp. And
- 27:33Speaker 2: the best response, the best is the audio of the
- 27:37Speaker 2: fans just going, oh, you know, just the, here we
- 27:40Speaker 2: go again. That's when they had power, too, I think.
- 27:43Speaker 2: That's before the power went out. They had music going.
- 27:46Speaker 2: Can you imagine sitting there? You're three sheets of the wind.
- 27:50Speaker 2: You're a Florida State student. They're all drunk. I mean,
- 27:53Speaker 2: we've seen Florida State party videos. Have you ever seen
- 27:56Speaker 2: one of them? In that stadium. They're excited. Man, Monday night,
- 27:59Speaker 2: Labor Day, we got the spotlight. We got SMU coming
- 28:03Speaker 2: to town, a top 20 team. And then Chief Osceola
- 28:07Speaker 2: charges onto the field, throws a lip spear down that
- 28:10Speaker 2: rolls over. You got some staffer running out to pick
- 28:14Speaker 2: it up so it doesn't completely set the entire field ablaze.
- 28:18Speaker 2: And then two minutes later, your power goes out. Power
- 28:20Speaker 2: just goes out. And you have no idea. It just
- 28:22Speaker 2: says on the jumbotron when they finally get back, we're
- 28:24Speaker 2: going to be under delay for a while. You just
- 28:25Speaker 2: sit there for two hours. You just sit there for
- 28:26Speaker 2: two hours. Yeah. Boy, we're making a good argument for
- 28:29Speaker 2: Florida State to be in this top five, but they're not.
- 28:32Speaker 2: Not in the top five because there are four others
- 28:34Speaker 2: now that are worse than Florida State. Number two, Hutton,
- 28:37Speaker 2: you want to talk about feeling helpless. Think about being
- 28:41Speaker 2: a Rutgers football fan right now. I don't know how
- 28:44Speaker 2: many of them exist. I don't know how many people
- 28:46Speaker 2: care about Rutgers athletics. I feel like people in the
- 28:48Speaker 2: state of New Jersey... They're Penn State fans, or they
- 28:52Speaker 2: don't care about college football at all. They're all NFL people.
- 28:55Speaker 2: I don't know what the clamoring is for Rutgers football
- 28:58Speaker 2: to be good. We need to get Logan Ryan on
- 29:00Speaker 2: to ask him about the support of Rutgers football. But
- 29:03Speaker 2: if I am a die-hard Rutgers Scarlet Knights fan, I
- 29:08Speaker 2: am looking around thinking, I don't know what to do.
- 29:13Speaker 2: I have no idea how to proceed here in the
- 29:15Speaker 2: Big Ten because this is miserable.
- 29:17Speaker 1: This isn't 104,000. So their capacity at their stadium, Chad,
- 29:23Speaker 1: is 52,454. They average 48,000. I'm stunned by that.
- 29:31Speaker 2: I am too. 48,000. That's two arenas. I mean, granted,
- 29:36Speaker 2: full disclosure, I've never been to a Rutgers game. I've
- 29:39Speaker 2: never stayed. foot on that campus. I know little about it.
- 29:43Speaker 2: But bear with me here. If you're Stanford and you're
- 29:46Speaker 2: a Stanford fan, you could be like, we're Stanford. We
- 29:49Speaker 2: are a preeminent university in the world. We have a
- 29:51Speaker 2: beautiful campus in Palo Alto. People rave about it. We
- 29:55Speaker 2: got Andrew Luck leading the program now. They suck right now.
- 29:58Speaker 2: They showed that on Friday night against Miami. They are
- 30:00Speaker 2: not a good football team. But they have pretty recently
- 30:03Speaker 2: been a top 10, top 15 caliber team. They've shown
- 30:08Speaker 2: consistency in how they can get it done at Stanford,
- 30:11Speaker 2: and they have money to invest if they want to.
- 30:14Speaker 2: They got a lot of money tied to that university
- 30:16Speaker 2: and a lot of rich alums. If they care about football,
- 30:18Speaker 2: they can do it. I can't say that about Rutgers.
- 30:21Speaker 2: It's not some question of, well, when will Rutgers commit?
- 30:24Speaker 2: They can commit all they want, Hutton, and you're still
- 30:27Speaker 2: competing against all these other Big Ten schools with their
- 30:30Speaker 2: alumni bases and their towns. which I believe are better
- 30:33Speaker 2: than Piscataway and what Rutgers is doing. I have a
- 30:38Speaker 2: hard time seeing any route to success for Rutgers in
- 30:42Speaker 2: the Big Ten.
- 30:42Speaker 1: Now, this would be every year, but it could be
- 30:45Speaker 1: a lot like Vanderbilt where the road team brings fans.
- 30:48Speaker 2: It could be. I don't know.
- 30:51Speaker 1: But that wouldn't be every single year on rotation. But, yeah,
- 30:55Speaker 1: maybe they just like to go out and sit in
- 30:57Speaker 1: the cold and get drunk.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Brooks in the chat says that his wife is from
- 31:01Speaker 2: New Jersey. She has always referred to Rutgers as a, quote,
- 31:04Speaker 2: garbage school and says his father-in-law wouldn't let her or
- 31:09Speaker 2: my brother-in-law go to school at the State University of
- 31:12Speaker 2: New Jersey, which is Rutgers. So there you have it.
- 31:16Speaker 2: You know what I remember Rutgers was I think that
- 31:20Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure that Tony Soprano's son, Anthony, Anthony Jr.,
- 31:24Speaker 2: went to Rutgers when they were living in New Jersey
- 31:27Speaker 2: on the Sopranos. And I'm like, oh. So that's the
- 31:29Speaker 2: type of place Rutgers is. Okay, good. Good to know.
- 31:32Speaker 2: Rutgers number two, Hunt, and you could easily put them
- 31:34Speaker 2: number one because, again, it's hopeless. I see no hope
- 31:38Speaker 2: for Rutgers and what they could be in the Big Ten.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Greg Sciano was the one guy who had success in
- 31:43Speaker 2: the Big East when he was there before. He's not
- 31:46Speaker 2: having success in the Big Ten. He is a Jersey
- 31:49Speaker 2: Rutgers type guy, and it's not working. Where do you
- 31:52Speaker 2: go from there? How do you invest? I have no clue.
- 31:55Speaker 2: For that reason, number two, worst vibes. Number three.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Known for their philosophy department. I just looked it up.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Better than their athletic department.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Really good when you're known for a degree that makes
- 32:05Speaker 2: you no money after you graduate with it. I could
- 32:08Speaker 2: say that about a lot of degrees right now.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Oh, I want to go study philosophy. Oh, so you
- 32:12Speaker 2: don't want to make a living. You don't want to
- 32:14Speaker 2: make a livable wage. Got it. Life science and urban planning.
- 32:18Speaker 2: Urban planning is way more lucrative than philosophy. I can
- 32:21Speaker 2: tell you that. As a parent, if I'm telling my kid, hey,
- 32:24Speaker 2: I want to go be a philosophy major. No, you don't.
- 32:26Speaker 2: You want to be an urban planning major, but don't
- 32:28Speaker 2: go to Rutgers.
- 32:30Speaker 1: AI also tells me reputation and prestige. It's perceived better
- 32:34Speaker 1: outside of New Jersey. Consistent theme is that Rutgers is
- 32:38Speaker 1: viewed more prestigiously further from New Jersey.
- 32:43Speaker 2: But yet they get 55 grand. I don't know anybody
- 32:46Speaker 2: who views it prestigiously here. And we're a long way
- 32:48Speaker 2: in Nashville from New Jersey. So I don't know that
- 32:52Speaker 2: AI even got that one right. Have you ever heard
- 32:54Speaker 2: someone saying, man, I got to get to Jersey? If
- 32:56Speaker 2: you're saying I got to get to Jersey for college,
- 32:59Speaker 2: it's because you've applied to Princeton. Yeah, you went to
- 33:02Speaker 2: the public Ivy. It's not because you're trying to go
- 33:04Speaker 2: to Rutgers. That's for sure. You ended up at the
- 33:06Speaker 2: public Ivy. Yeah, no doubt. Number three, top five worst vibes. Wisconsin. Wisconsin.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Wisconsin is in a very similar spot to Florida State.
- 33:15Speaker 2: They're in a very similar spot to what we saw
- 33:17Speaker 2: a year ago with Florida. This is a very good
- 33:20Speaker 2: college football program that had an identity that now completely
- 33:25Speaker 2: lacks an identity under Luke Fickle, and I don't get it.
- 33:28Speaker 2: I thought this was an amazing hire when they got
- 33:30Speaker 2: him from Cincinnati. Felt like a no-nonsense, he's Mike Vrabel's
- 33:35Speaker 2: best buddy. type, hard-nosed dude, Ohio guy. He is going
- 33:40Speaker 2: to carry on the tradition of the Barry Alvarez Wisconsin
- 33:44Speaker 2: teams that will line up and knock your ass in
- 33:46Speaker 2: the dirt and run the football in cold weather environments.
- 33:50Speaker 2: And they're going to get a lot of really good
- 33:52Speaker 2: offensive linemen. They're going to get a really good running back.
- 33:55Speaker 2: And they're going to beat your ass the old-fashioned way.
- 33:57Speaker 2: And instead, I have no idea what they are. And
- 34:00Speaker 2: their fan base is legit. Their fan base gets after it.
- 34:03Speaker 2: Camp Randall. And I have no idea what they are now.
- 34:06Speaker 2: I have no idea what their identity is. All I
- 34:08Speaker 2: know is that they lose a lot and they lost
- 34:11Speaker 2: big in game one against Notre Dame.
- 34:13Speaker 1: And I'm surprised, though, you have them ahead of Michigan.
- 34:17Speaker 2: Michigan won. I mean, that's really the only argument. Like, yes,
- 34:21Speaker 2: they got an extra play. And no, I'm sorry, Heather Denich.
- 34:24Speaker 2: It wasn't the right call. Even if you want to
- 34:26Speaker 2: argue that for talking to your Big Ten officials about
- 34:29Speaker 2: how it was the right call, it just looks bad.
- 34:32Speaker 2: It's not the right call. Somebody's clock was messed up.
- 34:35Speaker 2: There's one clock. It's in the stadium. It's on TV.
- 34:38Speaker 2: That's synced up with it. That's the one you go with.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Your clock, while maybe there was an honest mistake with
- 34:45Speaker 2: that clock, it was the one that was off, and
- 34:47Speaker 2: you went with the wrong clock if you said there
- 34:50Speaker 2: was a second left in that game. But Michigan still won.
- 34:52Speaker 2: They won the game. That's why they're fourth on this list.
- 34:55Speaker 2: They got a W anyway. Yeah, yeah.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Okay. But we know Michigan fans. We know a guy
- 35:02Speaker 1: named Trevor. He's a massive Michigan fan.
- 35:03Speaker 2: He's betting. He's taking Oklahoma. He's just like, we didn't
- 35:10Speaker 2: deserve to win that game. We suck. We're done. He's
- 35:12Speaker 2: just out of the quarterback, everybody. Yeah. JT, do we
- 35:16Speaker 2: have the Kyle Whittingham press conference audio talking about Bryce Underwood?
- 35:20Speaker 2: I don't know if we have that or not. We
- 35:22Speaker 2: have it? Yeah, we've got to hear that. Yeah, let's
- 35:25Speaker 2: hear it. It's early in the season. I think we're
- 35:27Speaker 2: going to get off knowledge. How firmly is he QB-walking?
- 35:30Speaker 3: He's our QB right now. Oh, boy. It's not something
- 35:34Speaker 3: that's infinite. At some point, we've got to turn a
- 35:37Speaker 3: corner and we've got to see improvement as we do
- 35:42Speaker 3: with a bunch of stuff. We haven't seen improvement out
- 35:43Speaker 3: of the coaches. It's not just on Bryce. It's not
- 35:48Speaker 3: just Bryce's job that is not absolutely set in concrete. Nobody's.
- 35:53Speaker 3: We've got to perform week in and week out and
- 35:57Speaker 3: become somebody that we feel like is playing at a
- 36:00Speaker 3: level that we can win with and And that goes
- 36:03Speaker 3: far beyond Bryce. It goes throughout the whole team. And
- 36:07Speaker 3: so what you've done lately has been important.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Not exactly a vote of confidence for one Kyle Whittingham,
- 36:15Speaker 2: but when you hear that right there. If Clay Travis
- 36:19Speaker 2: was doing a press conference and he was asked, hey,
- 36:21Speaker 2: what do you think about Jonathan Hutton and Chad Withrow
- 36:23Speaker 2: and the host of your morning show, your flagship morning
- 36:25Speaker 2: show for Sporting State? And Clay Travis stepped up there
- 36:28Speaker 2: and said, You know, they're our hosts right now. It's
- 36:31Speaker 2: not infinite or anything. I mean, you know, they've got
- 36:34Speaker 2: to improve and they've got to do a good job.
- 36:36Speaker 2: And if he spoke like Kyle Whittingham right there, I
- 36:39Speaker 2: would be preparing my resume at that point after hearing that.
- 36:44Speaker 1: I mean, they've got a freshman that is his backup.
- 36:46Speaker 1: I mean, it's not like a great backup option. I mean,
- 36:50Speaker 1: what are they paying this guy? I know that's not
- 36:53Speaker 1: the end-all, be-all here. And that's also– Whittingham can walk
- 36:57Speaker 1: in and do that. because what he's done, the wins
- 37:02Speaker 1: he has, and the fact that he's there to clean
- 37:05Speaker 1: up the mess. He wasn't there to make the decisions
- 37:08Speaker 1: to bring these guys in. He's there to just... He's
- 37:12Speaker 1: doing exactly what Robert Salas says they're doing here, where
- 37:15Speaker 1: they're not coddling.
- 37:15Speaker 2: I love that.
- 37:16Speaker 1: He's just being blunt and honest. He does have to
- 37:20Speaker 1: play better. That offense was awful. The offensive line sucks.
- 37:26Speaker 2: You've got....
- 37:29Speaker 1: Bryce, who can't complete passes, I think he started 6
- 37:32Speaker 1: of 6 and then went 6 for 16 after that.
- 37:38Speaker 1: That's not up to the standard that is required to
- 37:43Speaker 1: have the 5-star next to your name.
- 37:46Speaker 2: I think he's making $ 4. 5 million or somewhere around there
- 37:49Speaker 2: a year. It's $ 15 million all told for his multi-year
- 37:52Speaker 2: deal because that was a joke about the Louisiana purchase.
- 37:56Speaker 2: This is what we got in 1803 versus what you
- 37:58Speaker 2: get now, and it was a photo of Bryce Underwood
- 38:00Speaker 2: for $ 15 million. So not working out for Michigan, but again,
- 38:04Speaker 2: they won, so I've got them a little further down
- 38:05Speaker 2: the list. There it is right there. What $ 15 million
- 38:08Speaker 2: bought you in 1803 and what it buys you in 2026.
- 38:11Speaker 2: 170 yards of touchdown interception. QBR 54.1. And by the way,
- 38:17Speaker 2: he is getting ripped by people who watch quarterbacks. I
- 38:21Speaker 2: saw Joel Klatt, a buddy of ours who's really good,
- 38:24Speaker 2: talking quarterbacks, and he was very brutally honest on Underwood
- 38:29Speaker 2: and said he looked like he's regressed big time. He
- 38:32Speaker 2: wasn't good last year, and he's regressed. He's staring down targets.
- 38:36Speaker 2: He's not going through a progression. He looks unsure. He
- 38:39Speaker 2: looks worse than he did a year ago, so not
- 38:42Speaker 2: good news for Michigan.
- 38:43Speaker 1: And then keep in mind, that defense gave up a
- 38:45Speaker 1: 20-play drive to a MAAC team.
- 38:49Speaker 2: And that's what Kyle Whittingham teams do. That's what's also
- 38:52Speaker 2: so disappointing. That's what you'd expect from a Whittingham team,
- 38:54Speaker 2: a 20-play drive, right? You give that up against Western Michigan.
- 38:58Speaker 2: That's brutal. So Michigan's in the top five, but not
- 39:01Speaker 2: at the top. Number five, Hutton, Oklahoma State. Game number one,
- 39:06Speaker 2: you're excited about a new coach, and Eric Moore is
- 39:08Speaker 2: coming over from North Texas. He brings his quarterback, Drew Mestemaker.
- 39:12Speaker 2: Everybody thinks, boy, this offense is going to look better.
- 39:14Speaker 2: This is going to be great. You're a two-touchdown favorite
- 39:17Speaker 2: close to it. On the road at Tulsa, in-state, I
- 39:20Speaker 2: wouldn't even call it a rival, but I guess it
- 39:22Speaker 2: is now when you look at Tulsa and Oklahoma State.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Tulsa set the wheels in motion for Gundy to get
- 39:27Speaker 2: fired last year when they beat them badly in week
- 39:30Speaker 2: number one. And now Tulsa, they greet Morris rudely in
- 39:38Speaker 2: game number one. 24-10. That great offense put up 10
- 39:42Speaker 2: points against Tulsa. Brutal. Brutal start for the Cowboys. You
- 39:46Speaker 2: have the stat. They haven't won a FBS game since when?
- 39:50Speaker 2: September of 2024 was the last time they beat a
- 39:53Speaker 2: non-FCS opponent. So that program has fallen on harder times
- 39:58Speaker 2: than pretty much anyone else. And look, it's game one.
- 40:01Speaker 2: So you put them down the list because they're still
- 40:03Speaker 2: going to be excitement around Eric Morris. But what a
- 40:06Speaker 2: brutal start as a favorite on the road to go
- 40:09Speaker 2: in and lose by two touchdowns that way. So again,
- 40:11Speaker 2: top five worst vibes in college football after week one.
- 40:17Speaker 2: Number one, Clemson. Number two, Rutgers. What do you even
- 40:20Speaker 2: do with Rutgers in the Big Ten? Number three, Wisconsin.
- 40:23Speaker 2: What do you do with Luke Fickle? Probably fire him
- 40:25Speaker 2: at some point. Number four, Michigan. Rough start for Kyle Whittingham.
- 40:30Speaker 2: Number five, Oklahoma State. Equally rough start for Eric Morris.
- 40:35Speaker 1: When we come back, I have players in the NFL
- 40:38Speaker 1: that are going to crush it in their contract year.
- 40:41Speaker 1: Guys you should bet on to go over whatever prop
- 40:44Speaker 1: you want to go with with hard rock bet.
- 40:46Speaker 2: That's next.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Chad, the name says it all. Perfect 10. Perfect 10 mortgage.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Apply in 10 minutes. Close in 10 days. That's the
- 40:54Speaker 1: whole idea here. A mortgage that's simple, fast, and fair.
- 40:58Speaker 1: 10 minutes, start to finish, right from your phone. No
- 41:01Speaker 1: stack of paperwork. And Chad, no sitting across a desk
- 41:04Speaker 1: from a banker who talks down to you.
- 41:06Speaker 2: You're going to sit across the desk from a human
- 41:08Speaker 2: that has human concerns about you, that understands what it's
- 41:12Speaker 2: like to go through this process. And they're going to
- 41:14Speaker 2: tell you, Date the rate, marry the house. You're going
- 41:17Speaker 2: to hear that. You're going to want to put it
- 41:18Speaker 2: on a t-shirt and sell it yourself because it's a
- 41:21Speaker 2: great line and it's so true. Get the house you
- 41:23Speaker 2: want now. Refinance when rates come down. Don't continue to
- 41:27Speaker 2: drown in credit card debt. And if you're buying new construction,
- 41:30Speaker 2: ask about the builder program, builder funded rate buy downs
- 41:33Speaker 2: that can get you a rate the bank can't print.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Date the rate, marry the house, get the house you
- 41:37Speaker 2: want now. Refinance when rates come down. Straight talk on
- 41:40Speaker 2: what you actually qualify for. Built for real people, not paperwork.
- 41:44Speaker 2: Perfect10Mortgage. com or call them at 855-789-1010. That's Perfect10Mortgage. com. Perfect 10
- 41:51Speaker 2: Mortgage is an equal housing lender. Perfect 10 Mortgage is
- 41:54Speaker 2: a DBA or network funding LP. NMLS number 2297. Equal
- 41:58Speaker 2: housing lender. All borrowers must qualify. This advertisement is not
- 42:01Speaker 2: a promise to make alone.
- 42:03Speaker 1: I'm impressed by how fast you can do that, by
- 42:05Speaker 1: the way.
- 42:06Speaker 2: Well done. I've gotten better at it. I had one
- 42:09Speaker 2: back in the day in the old radio days, I
- 42:10Speaker 2: had to read very fast. I think during high school
- 42:13Speaker 2: football coverage, the end and, um, I get a little
- 42:15Speaker 2: bit better. I'm not normally a real fast talker, but
- 42:18Speaker 2: you know, you get in that mode. It's like the
- 42:20Speaker 2: micro machines guy back in the day. And you can
- 42:22Speaker 2: kind of go, it's the NMLS. Once you get NMLS
- 42:24Speaker 2: down fast, then the rest of it just flows off
- 42:26Speaker 2: the top.
- 42:27Speaker 1: Uh, we'll, I'm going to get to the, the NFL
- 42:29Speaker 1: players in just a moment. I want to hit while
- 42:31Speaker 1: we're talking college link. If it's halftime speech, um, uh,
- 42:36Speaker 1: I got to be honest with you, Chad, I loved it.
- 42:38Speaker 1: It's just, that is exactly what I would want the
- 42:42Speaker 1: mentality to be in a locker room. And I think
- 42:46Speaker 1: in many, in many locker rooms, it's, we're missing that
- 42:51Speaker 1: at every level, the, the ability to go out and
- 42:54Speaker 1: focus and, you know, put the, uh, the, the, the
- 42:57Speaker 1: foot on the throat, you know, and, and, uh, take
- 43:00Speaker 1: them out and not look back. Um, Look forward to
- 43:04Speaker 1: the next. Be the opponent no one wants to face.
- 43:07Speaker 1: It's a lot of coasting, quite frankly. And there was
- 43:12Speaker 1: no coasting from LSU. I like how Kiffin kind of
- 43:16Speaker 1: lured them in and then just dropped the hammer on them.
- 43:21Speaker 1: I don't like how his voice cracks and how he talks,
- 43:24Speaker 1: but it got the message across. Let's do it that way.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Yeah, he's not a real authoritative type speaker. No. Just
- 43:32Speaker 2: with his speech pattern and delivery. But I'm with you
- 43:36Speaker 2: in what he was saying. I wouldn't be able to
- 43:39Speaker 2: find a single fan that would have a problem with it.
- 43:41Speaker 2: I guess someone who's a teetotaler when it comes to
- 43:43Speaker 2: language wouldn't like all the language used by Lane Kiffin.
- 43:47Speaker 2: But the power of what he's saying, and we're not satisfied.
- 43:52Speaker 2: This is what we expect. We're not going to hear
- 43:53Speaker 2: to celebrate this. We knew we were going to pound them,
- 43:56Speaker 2: and that's what we're doing. And he says, the world
- 43:59Speaker 2: hates you, so let's go tell the world to F
- 44:02Speaker 2: themselves at one point in it. I liked it, Hutton.
- 44:07Speaker 2: I think it was a good halftime speech for what
- 44:09Speaker 2: situation they're in. But it goes back to the contradiction
- 44:13Speaker 2: of Lane Kiffin. You're in this situation of being hated,
- 44:16Speaker 2: not because of the players you're screaming at, because of you.
- 44:19Speaker 2: And you're not some white knight in this story. I
- 44:23Speaker 2: think Lane Kiffin, now he will play to it. and
- 44:26Speaker 2: he'll say smart-ass little comments to sideline reporters, and he'll
- 44:30Speaker 2: go at people in press conferences, and he'll kind of
- 44:33Speaker 2: have this cutesy little sarcastic deal about everything he does.
- 44:37Speaker 2: But also, I believe what John Talti, who wrote the
- 44:40Speaker 2: book on him, literally, said to us yesterday. Lane thinks
- 44:44Speaker 2: he's the hero. He wants to be a hero. He
- 44:47Speaker 2: can embrace the villain for right now, but he's even said,
- 44:51Speaker 2: a lot of times the villain will become the hero
- 44:53Speaker 2: at some point. I think he believes what he's doing
- 44:56Speaker 2: with these players is heroic for them. That someone had
- 45:00Speaker 2: to do it, so I'm going to be the guy
- 45:01Speaker 2: that's courageous enough to fight for these young men, to
- 45:05Speaker 2: go to the NFL and come back to LSU. What
- 45:07Speaker 2: he's not realizing is, yes, everybody does hate you, but
- 45:11Speaker 2: they hate you. They don't hate the LSU players that
- 45:14Speaker 2: were already on the roster. They hate you and what
- 45:17Speaker 2: you stand for.
- 45:19Speaker 1: See, the tone has shifted a bit because of ESPN
- 45:21Speaker 1: and how they coddle him and how they treat him.
- 45:25Speaker 1: The whole game day thing with McAfee, and not just McAfee, everybody,
- 45:31Speaker 1: quite frankly, on that panel. And not even wanting to
- 45:35Speaker 1: address the topic of it throughout the show. Applauding anytime
- 45:40Speaker 1: someone said football, we can finally play football. I mean,
- 45:42Speaker 1: of course, that's great. But no one has been talking
- 45:45Speaker 1: about that. The story has been, and you're on the campus,
- 45:48Speaker 1: the story has been pro players and the fact he
- 45:52Speaker 1: didn't roster them literally eight hours earlier. So he's told
- 45:57Speaker 1: that he's the conquering hero. He's certainly treated like that
- 46:00Speaker 1: on campus. So he's in his bubble. He is the
- 46:05Speaker 1: equivalent of John Wilkes Booth. He thinks he's going to
- 46:09Speaker 1: do something and be the conquering hero and you're going
- 46:11Speaker 1: to have the palm leaves laid out for you on
- 46:13Speaker 1: the street. And instead, everybody's coming for your head. It's like, oh,
- 46:18Speaker 1: not me. The only thing that.
- 46:21Speaker 2: Was bad about the halftime speech is no one hates
- 46:23Speaker 2: the team. It's just the coach.
- 46:28Speaker 1: He drops the job and goes in a great year.
- 46:33Speaker 1: A fantastic year by Ole Miss, a historic year. Bolts
- 46:37Speaker 1: for LSU and then expects to still coach the team.
- 46:40Speaker 1: And you've got Saban waving the flag for it. That
- 46:44Speaker 1: is just– that's why he thinks he's the hero. He
- 46:48Speaker 1: thinks he's Stone Cold Steve Austin. He's going to get
- 46:50Speaker 1: on the turnbuckle and chug a beer. Get someone to
- 46:53Speaker 1: throw it to him.
- 46:54Speaker 2: No, you're right. He's not the heel in his own mind.
- 46:57Speaker 2: And here's another thing I would say. We got picked
- 46:59Speaker 2: up by awful announcing yesterday with what we were talking
- 47:01Speaker 2: about on ESPN's treatment of Lane Kiffin. Go look at
- 47:06Speaker 2: the comments to the clip that Brooks put out on
- 47:10Speaker 2: our pages, on social media, of what I was saying
- 47:12Speaker 2: about Lane Kiffin. Go look at the comments from LSU fans.
- 47:15Speaker 2: If you want an example of how he's treated in
- 47:18Speaker 2: that state and by his own fans, it's all, you
- 47:20Speaker 2: guys are just haters. Oh my gosh, the jealousy of
- 47:23Speaker 2: Lane Kiffin and LSU is through the roof. It's a
- 47:26Speaker 2: lot of non-substance to any argument against what we're saying.
- 47:32Speaker 2: It's just, you guys are just haters. Or you guys
- 47:34Speaker 2: are just jealous. Or who are these betas that are
- 47:37Speaker 2: talking about the god that is Lane Kiffin? If you
- 47:39Speaker 2: want to see an example of how he's treated and coddled,
- 47:43Speaker 2: look at Libby Dunn. And the model from Baywatch and
- 47:46Speaker 2: Theo Vaughn walking in side by side with him into
- 47:50Speaker 2: that stadium. He is going to be treated like a
- 47:53Speaker 2: god and given everything. He said he wanted the Maserati.
- 47:56Speaker 2: He's got it. And now college football has to live
- 47:59Speaker 2: in a world where Lane Kiffin has everything he wanted. Now,
- 48:03Speaker 2: I would argue Lane Kiffin got everything he wanted at USC, too.
- 48:06Speaker 2: And that was the job he wanted. And he was
- 48:08Speaker 2: a guy from the West Coast, had a background at USC.
- 48:11Speaker 2: It did not work out there for him. It's not 100%
- 48:14Speaker 2: certain it's going to work out at LSU. But when
- 48:17Speaker 2: you see that they're paying those players $ 50 million, that
- 48:20Speaker 2: they have the richest roster among all college football programs,
- 48:25Speaker 2: and they're trying to add three more from the NFL,
- 48:28Speaker 2: I think it's going to be– we're pretty hard-pressed to
- 48:30Speaker 2: find a way that doesn't work out for Lane Kiffin
- 48:32Speaker 2: from a win-loss standpoint, especially after what we saw in
- 48:34Speaker 2: that first game.
- 48:35Speaker 1: And what we know is wherever he's been, that has
- 48:39Speaker 1: been the response of the fan base until he bolts.
- 48:42Speaker 1: and then couches are lit on fire, and people are
- 48:48Speaker 1: storming the streets, trying to flip over police cars. They're
- 48:52Speaker 1: so pissed off. The fan base will be treated like
- 48:57Speaker 1: that at some point, too.
- 48:58Speaker 2: That's just what he does. We're going to go to
- 49:00Speaker 2: Oxford in two weeks, and we're going to be shoulder-to-shoulder
- 49:03Speaker 2: with a lot of Ole Miss people and fans in
- 49:05Speaker 2: Oxford that are going to be saying every bad thing
- 49:08Speaker 2: humanly imaginable you could about Lane Kiffin. And Lane Kiffin's return.
- 49:12Speaker 2: Those same fans were praising his every word. Exactly. His
- 49:15Speaker 2: every tweet. Everything that he did while he was coach there.
- 49:18Speaker 2: That's not a surprise to anyone that college football. That's
- 49:22Speaker 2: how fans are blindly loyal to their team and their
- 49:25Speaker 2: coach and whatever they do. I just watched that halftime
- 49:27Speaker 2: speech and I'm like, this is awesome. This would fire
- 49:29Speaker 2: me up if I'm an LSU fan. I totally get
- 49:31Speaker 2: the message of what he's saying to his locker room.
- 49:34Speaker 2: But we're also removing the context of No, dude, they
- 49:38Speaker 2: don't hate the players, or they don't hate you. Remember
- 49:41Speaker 2: in the Vince Young documentary when Jeff Fisher was saying,
- 49:44Speaker 2: don't walk out on your team, Vince. Don't walk out
- 49:47Speaker 2: on your team. And Lindell Wyatt was on camera. He's like, no,
- 49:50Speaker 2: we're pretty clear on the fact he's walking out on you,
- 49:52Speaker 2: not walking out on us. You can spin it however
- 49:54Speaker 2: you want. I feel the same about Lane Kiffin. We
- 49:57Speaker 2: hate you. That's what America is saying. They don't like
- 50:01Speaker 2: how you're doing this, how you're stirring the pot, how
- 50:03Speaker 2: you're creating an issue that should not exist. with NFL
- 50:07Speaker 2: players that have signed contracts coming back to college football.
- 50:10Speaker 2: You're the one doing it. Your own conference is saying
- 50:12Speaker 2: you're the one doing it. They're not suing every player
- 50:15Speaker 2: on LSU's team. They're suing you personally and your school
- 50:19Speaker 2: for meddling in this issue. That's why America has turned
- 50:23Speaker 2: against you. Now, you can take that, funnel that energy,
- 50:28Speaker 2: throw it to your team and say, yeah, let's make
- 50:30Speaker 2: something good out of this and positive the way you
- 50:32Speaker 2: did at that halftime speech. I'm fine with that. That's great.
- 50:34Speaker 2: That's what a coach should do. But let's not get
- 50:36Speaker 2: it twisted. Everybody hates you, not your team.
- 50:40Speaker 1: And then the flip side is, except for media, other
- 50:45Speaker 1: than Paul Feinbaum on SEC Network, which is, I mean,
- 50:50Speaker 1: it's been a while since we've seen someone go at
- 50:52Speaker 1: a coach on SEC Network. If you haven't seen his
- 50:56Speaker 1: take on it, certainly do. It's fantastic. And Kiffin was
- 51:02Speaker 1: asked about it at the presser. Here's Kiffin's response.
- 51:06Speaker 2: I like Paul. I really do.
- 51:08Speaker 4: And he knows that he said something one time to
- 51:10Speaker 4: me about like, or he said something about me being
- 51:14Speaker 4: like the exit text and you respond back or something.
- 51:17Speaker 2: I don't think of Paul like that. They have a
- 51:19Speaker 2: job to do. And I understand.
- 51:21Speaker 4: Those things used to make me mad and upset. And
- 51:24Speaker 4: then I realized, okay, they have a job to do,
- 51:25Speaker 4: especially when two people go on a show. Usually they've
- 51:27Speaker 4: got to take opposite sides. And it's just Paul's sick.
- 51:30Speaker 4: And really, if you study over time, if Paul's on you,
- 51:35Speaker 4: you probably have been doing really well or you're about
- 51:37Speaker 4: to do really well. I always remember, Paul, every other
- 51:40Speaker 4: year at Alabama, it was Saban's done, the dynasty's over,
- 51:44Speaker 4: he can't coach, he can't keep up anymore with tempo offense.
- 51:48Speaker 4: Paul would kill him every other year and then he'd
- 51:50Speaker 4: go in a national championship. When Paul does it, I
- 51:54Speaker 4: like it because it usually means something good's about to happen.
- 51:58Speaker 2: He is the definition of rat poison. He sent me today.
- 52:03Speaker 4: His own thing where he said about, you know, we're
- 52:05Speaker 4: the hottest place to go and, you know, every recruit
- 52:08Speaker 4: should want to come here and everything. And so I
- 52:09Speaker 4: responded back to him, like, thanks for the rat poison,
- 52:12Speaker 4: you know, because that's what your players read. And then
- 52:14Speaker 4: all of a sudden they think, okay, we've, we've, we've arrived.
- 52:19Speaker 1: I mean, he just flipped it on everything. Everyone's just
- 52:22Speaker 1: going to go with that.
- 52:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:23Speaker 1: Oh, we've arrived and everything's good. NFL players aren't playing.
- 52:26Speaker 1: So everything's good here. It's, it's one guy doing it. And,
- 52:30Speaker 1: and it's also Chad, Jimmy Sexton involved with all this,
- 52:34Speaker 1: you know, all the ties to the agencies.
- 52:37Speaker 2: And did he say that he sent me video of
- 52:40Speaker 2: him talking about how we're the hot place?
- 52:41Speaker 1: He said, he said, my mom sent him that, I
- 52:44Speaker 1: guess after he had his rant, which again is just, that's,
- 52:48Speaker 1: that's like everybody he's gone from the villain to the
- 52:51Speaker 1: concrete hero after beating dabble's ass.
- 52:55Speaker 2: I just, uh, I remember you, you've shared the clip before,
- 52:58Speaker 2: but the wrestling fan kid who said, it's real to me.
- 53:02Speaker 2: It's real to me, David. Thank you for sacrificing your bodies.
- 53:06Speaker 2: I hear that. I'm like, man, I like what Paul
- 53:08Speaker 2: Feinbaum had to say. That was pretty strong for an
- 53:11Speaker 2: SEC Network person. Then I hear that he's texting Lane
- 53:14Speaker 2: Kiffin videos of him talking about how great LSU is.
- 53:17Speaker 2: Now it's the hot place to go. And I'm thinking,
- 53:19Speaker 2: can any of this be real? I mean, they're just
- 53:21Speaker 2: sitting there text buddies after Feinbaum completely eviscerates them on television,
- 53:28Speaker 2: on the SEC's own network. I want it to be real, Hutton.
- 53:32Speaker 2: It's real to me, okay? It's all very real to
- 53:34Speaker 2: me when I watch it. But, yeah, look, I give
- 53:38Speaker 2: Paul Feinbaum credit for being honest with his opinion. I
- 53:41Speaker 2: think he's also carrying some water for the SEC and
- 53:43Speaker 2: their anger. towards Lane Kiffin in this. That's a good point.
- 53:47Speaker 2: So I think he's probably been granted freedom to go
- 53:50Speaker 2: ahead and do that because, again, last I checked, the
- 53:54Speaker 2: SEC sued Lane Kiffin and LSU.
- 53:57Speaker 1: Coming up, a great response by Aaron Carter and a
- 54:03Speaker 1: donation that he's going to be giving throughout the season.
- 54:06Speaker 1: And Arch Manning, let's discuss the magnitude of this game
- 54:10Speaker 1: for his college career as Texas takes on Ohio State.
- 54:13Speaker 2: That's next. Harold had to withdraw.
