A 21-year-old man allegedly held a Meijer store customer hostage in a bathroom, bizarrely requesting “multiple hypnotists” when calling 911 and threatening him with a knife—demanding he keep his feet flat or face violence. He even tried to force the victim to glue his hands to the floor before pulling out a knife. The terrified hostage fought back, using his belt to subdue Lehman, who then fled as shoppers rushed to help. Police arrived and shot at Lehman, accidentally injuring the hostage’s thumb.
