- 0:00SPEAKER_01: We don't wait for the rhythm.
- 0:04SPEAKER_01: We make the rhythm.
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: We call we create routine.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Hey everybody, welcome to this episode of Anything But Routine.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: And today we're really going out on a limb with different things.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: We are going to talk about Move You and the Teahive and Team Stores for Studios or Dance Team Coaches.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: And basically, it's all the product that you might need for your studio or team.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: And you can put it in a team store and it makes your life simple because people can pay with credit card online and they don't have to, you don't have to collect all the checks and everything.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: And then there's different ways to have it shipped.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: We can talk about that, like directly to the kids or directly to the coach, and then she distributes or the studio owner.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: So first off, let's just talk about this.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Is Audie, Aaron Otterson, and Bill Volberg.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: Did I say that right?
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: And they both work for the teahive.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: And they just came on today to help us understand this process because it's quite a process.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: So where should we start?
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: What products?
- 1:17SPEAKER_04: Well, so first off, a team store is a solution that if you don't want to handle the money and you don't want to have to get everybody's sizes, um, you can put a team store up, and it's just an online store that we put the products you choose in, decorated the way you want them, and then the end user, the student, or the parent can go on, pick their size.
- 1:42SPEAKER_04: If you have different color options, they can pick that, and then they check out and pay themselves.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: And the design process, maybe we should back backtrack to that.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: We can help you with that, right?
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Like we can we have a lot of designs that you could go in and just drag right into what you want to do online, or if you have a certain logo that can be sent in, correct?
- 2:07SPEAKER_04: For sure.
- 2:07SPEAKER_04: We have thousands of designs online you can pick from, but um, most of the time, your studio logo or something you even found on the internet, um, you can email it to us.
- 2:20SPEAKER_04: Our designers take care of it, they place it either where you want it on the garment, or if you're not sure, then we can recommend where that logo should go.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: Um, so let's just talk products.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: So I see you brought a backpack with you.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: This is a uh move you backpack.
- 2:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so what's really cool about Team Stores too is that they're just totally customizable.
- 2:43SPEAKER_03: So you're gonna customize them uh to your studio, to your liking.
- 2:47SPEAKER_03: Um, just the whole, the way that the whole page looks, um, the feel of it.
- 2:52SPEAKER_03: And then obviously you can customize the items that you want to put on it.
- 2:55SPEAKER_03: So we brought some stuff here to kind of show you what you can put on your store.
- 2:58SPEAKER_03: Um, the sky is kind of the limit.
- 3:01SPEAKER_03: Um, you know, after you decide what you want to do with your art, and then you're gonna decide what you want to do with um the apparel that you're gonna put on there, and then you can change that as you want.
- 3:10SPEAKER_03: Otherwise, um you can always you know choose new things as well.
- 3:14SPEAKER_03: So a few different items here that we brought with us.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Oh, I love those Unreal sweatshirts, Unreal Minnesota brand.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: And they they are a little cropped, so the kids like them.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Um, if you're ordering them for the coaches and the adults, I would go bigger sizes because they are a little cropped.
- 3:33SPEAKER_03: Not that you don't want to wear cropped, uh, so super, yeah, and super popular now is uh you know the matching outfits.
- 3:40SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, and we have different colors, different options in this, but just kind of shows you, and then different art options as well.
- 3:46SPEAKER_03: So you got something going down the leg here.
- 3:48SPEAKER_04: So this one's down the leg, it could have been up here by the pocket, can be on the back of the leg, that's a big trend now, too.
- 3:54SPEAKER_04: For sure can so the sky's the limit.
- 3:56SPEAKER_04: You can decide.
- 3:57SPEAKER_04: And if you if during the design process, if you want to see it three different ways, that's okay.
- 4:04SPEAKER_04: But one thing about the teehive is we don't charge for art fees and we don't charge setup fees.
- 4:10SPEAKER_04: So the price that you're quoted is the price.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: And what's this little item here?
- 4:15SPEAKER_03: This one here.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: Oh, it looks like we got a that's a jersey this is oh that's a costume, basically it's a decorated costume, like a palm, and it has your team name there, so you could do that.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: That's cute.
- 4:31SPEAKER_03: And I mean, it's basically anything that you see in the catalogs, right?
- 4:34SPEAKER_03: If you see something in the catalog that you like and you want it to add it to your team store, um, you know, we're gonna decorate it for you and put it all in your team store.
- 4:41SPEAKER_03: Blankets.
- 4:42SPEAKER_03: Okay, huge product for the parents.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the blankets are huge, they're huge for teams too on the bus.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: Like we ride on the bus.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: Of course, we're in Minnesota, but they love to cuddle up with those.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but you can get the kids' names on them, you can get the team name on them.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: They're great for football.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: If you dance at football, you can have them down there.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: And you know, in addition to all the custom items, we also have all the dance items like biker shorts, palms, and every color.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: And those can those be added to the they can, yeah.
- 5:11SPEAKER_04: Um, most of the time it's palms.
- 5:14SPEAKER_04: Um, and then we do have the ability to add plank items out of the gist for kicks catalog too.
- 5:19SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Perfect.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: And we also are this is new, hot off the press, but we are getting new palm straps that can hook to the backpacks that that they can carry on the outside of the bag.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: We also have uh like even dance mugs or like what do you call them?
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: Tumblers tumblers, yeah, that you could put your name on there.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: The kids could have them customize.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: So there's so many items.
- 5:40SPEAKER_04: Well, being we brought up names, that's a good point.
- 5:43SPEAKER_04: So um ten dollars you can customize almost any product.
- 5:48SPEAKER_04: So you're getting jackets, warm-up jackets.
- 5:51SPEAKER_04: Um, you can have the students enter their names right in the team store, and we'll embroider it on the left chest of the jacket.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: We just did a team store for our team, and guess who forgot to put their name on it?
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: And I got mine blank, and um, I go, well, I guess I know some people I I can go get mine fixed, but yeah, I forgot to enter that.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: So, but I love the custom stuff for the kids because I find so much stuff.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Like I just found one of my kids, Izzy.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: I found her sweatshirt and and um I gave it back to her because I knew who's it it was, who it belonged to.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: So um, yeah, like the the other thing I think is neat is when you do a second year with the team store, it becomes so much easier because the first year you're getting it all set up.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: And the second year you're like, okay, let's do this traditional t-shirt that we do every year, and let's add, you know, this year we're gonna add something else, and we're always trying to stay on the trend of what's happening.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: I know funnel necks are huge, so we're trying to get those in.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: We don't quite have it, they're almost here.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Um, we're getting those made, but sometimes it's like the third trip back before we get it the way it's supposed to look.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: But there is a lot of in-stock items that bam, you can get them done really fast.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: So, what would be some of the like if I'm trying to expedite this, how long do you guys need?
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: I know everybody's like, I need it tomorrow, right?
- 7:12SPEAKER_03: So, as far as like the design process, so once you pick your items, um, you know, you're just gonna let us know what your items are.
- 7:19SPEAKER_03: We can mock those up for you.
- 7:20SPEAKER_03: We can send the mock-ups back to you, and then you're going to pick what you want, and then from there we can build the store.
- 7:26SPEAKER_03: And I mean, honestly, that can happen within two days.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: That part can happen, but then the production takes about production.
- 7:32SPEAKER_03: So then we're gonna you're gonna pick how long you want the store to stay open for.
- 7:35SPEAKER_03: So then we'll just set a um timeline for the store to close, and then once the store closes, all the orders that are in the store are all going to be produced at the same time.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: And then what will happen is you will pass out all those orders, and then you will hear from all the people that forgot to order, and and you can do a second store later, right?
- 7:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah, um, there's stores do have minimums.
- 7:57SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 7:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so um a die sublimated item is six, and screen print and embroidery are 12.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: 12.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: So can I just inter interrupt?
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: Keep your thought.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: That I know the first year I did a store, I did too many items, too many choices, and then what happens is it divides the sale up, and then you don't get your minimums of 12 of each thing.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: So you'd be better off for your first time to go, I want to pick X, Y, and Z, or you know, fewer items with bigger quantities.
- 8:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we actually recommend four.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 8:35SPEAKER_04: Um, and we'll guide you through that.
- 8:37SPEAKER_04: So depending on the size of your studio, and are these items mandatory?
- 8:43SPEAKER_04: So you know you're gonna have 20 dancers that have to order this item, that then we have the ability to maybe add some more things, but we'll coach you through it and the whole way through the process, I would remind you um hey, we have minimums on this, so if you're not gonna get to six on this piece, then we'll either refund it and not print it, or you have to make up the missing item, which most studios do that, they'll make up they just buy a couple of them.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: That's what you mean.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: Like, okay, so you sold four, you buy six, and the studio owner hangs it in the lobby and sells it that way.
- 9:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah, okay.
- 9:19SPEAKER_04: It happens all the time.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, or the dance coach.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: I think it's easier with I do both things, studio and coach.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: And the team, we have required items because we're gonna wear them to competition.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: And I know studios do as well, but that's a little easier to for you to know exactly what you need.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: And I know sometimes for the studio, I try to keep the same warm-up at the studio for a couple years, so parents aren't buying them every year for our high school team.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: We maybe do two years, but a lot of times we do a new one every year because the kids, that's what they want.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: They beg for it.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Don't think it's what their parents want, but it's what the kid wants, right?
- 9:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we know how that goes.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: They're both dance dads, too.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: So I noticed you have your dance bracelets on it.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's great.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: That's great.
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: So, well, what am I missing here?
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: What if you think people call and ask questions about the most?
- 10:09SPEAKER_03: Bill, why don't you touch on um once the store closes and then kind of like the production timeline and how the how the orders are separated?
- 10:16SPEAKER_04: Sure.
- 10:17SPEAKER_04: So a couple of notes.
- 10:20SPEAKER_04: Team stores take a long time.
- 10:22SPEAKER_04: Um, we do the best we can on our side to let so if you're gonna leave it open for a month, the world now expects packages in two days because of Amazon.
- 10:32SPEAKER_04: So it doesn't work that way.
- 10:33SPEAKER_04: We print everything at the same time.
- 10:35SPEAKER_04: So we do get a lot of questions when will this ship?
- 10:38SPEAKER_04: And we're happy to answer them if they email us, the end user.
- 10:42SPEAKER_04: Um, but once it goes into production, three to four weeks is about how long it takes to produce, and then it's packaged in a in a poly bag with the packing slip on it.
- 10:54SPEAKER_04: So when the coach gets the box, you can take it out, read the name of the student or the parent, and and hand them out at practice or that's so handy.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: I love that there.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: I mean, I remember the old days where you had to go, okay, she ordered a small and you had to label it with a sticky note, and now it's all done for you.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: You get it, it's done.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: So that's great.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: So four, yeah, four weeks.
- 11:17SPEAKER_03: About three to four weeks.
- 11:19SPEAKER_03: I guess the big thing that I'd like to kind of touch on a little bit is you know, being at the uh nationals at the teehigh booth.
- 11:25SPEAKER_03: I think one of the biggest things we always hear is, hey, do you have stuff that's specific to our studio?
- 11:30SPEAKER_03: Whereas we wish we did, but we don't.
- 11:32SPEAKER_03: So that's where the team store comes into play is that it's really gonna offer that you know specific location, you know, where you can get stuff that's specific to your studio.
- 11:42SPEAKER_03: Because like I said, when we're at nationals, people are always coming up and asking us, do we have stuff that's specific and for theirs?
- 11:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and we don't.
- 11:48SPEAKER_03: And the only, you know, the basically the best way to do that is to team store.
- 11:53SPEAKER_02: This episode is sponsored by the Teehive and Move You.
- 11:56SPEAKER_02: At Teehive, we don't just provide custom designs, we personalize them to suit your needs.
- 12:00SPEAKER_02: Whether you need tablecloths, banners, t-shirts, dye sublimation, sweatshirts, jackets, or warmups, we can create them for you.
- 12:09SPEAKER_02: Your dancers will be thrilled with our latest dance designs, or we can bring your custom logo to life.
- 12:14SPEAKER_02: Check us out at the Teehive and move you.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: So, the other thing I was gonna say is we don't just do dance.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: I mean, we started with dance.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: We started specifically with dance actually to supply our own dancers and our camps that we do.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: We needed a supplier and finally we cut out the middleman and started doing it.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: But then we started getting asked, can you do the swim team?
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: Can you do the trap shooting team?
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: Can you do so?
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: We do volleyball, basketball, everything.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: We have all those designs and we do businesses too.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: So if you're you're a dance coach, but your husband runs a construction business, for example, we could do that as well.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: We do the employee um clothing and anything you want to do.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: So we also coaches do tablecloths and backdrops for pictures, right?
- 13:09SPEAKER_03: Yep, yeah.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: So um I know studio owners are always looking for that social media flair of putting it on what is that metal thing called?
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: That you put the metal frame.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they're just awesome.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: And I know we just at the studio spent all this time building a uh balloon arch, and these little boys ran in and we're crashing it down.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, next time we're going back to our metal frame with our repeater logo on there, because that's what you want to see online anyway.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: And I know our team runs an annual event every year, our high school team that's our competition name.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: It's a Paul Bunyan invite, and we have a backdrop made.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: So when kids come to that, every year we put up the same backdrop, it's easier.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: We don't have to create anything, and and it kind of gives you that um recognition on social media.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: So tablecloths are great when you're doing booths at various schools or you're doing an open house or anything.
- 14:05SPEAKER_00: That tablecloth with your school logo on it will be great when you're running a competition.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: And those you can either get six at a time, I believe, or you can maybe get them individually.
- 14:15SPEAKER_04: You can get them individually, yep.
- 14:17SPEAKER_04: Um, six foot, eight foot tablecloths, three foot, and ten foot backdrops.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: Now, this is a question I'm gonna put you on the spot.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: A lot of studio owners I'll see post how can I get a backdrop for my stage?
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: Do we do anything like that?
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: I know we do it for our internally for our own events, but yeah.
- 14:34SPEAKER_04: So the answer is yes, we can do that.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: Um, it's not we have the ability, it's not an item that's in our catalog that we don't advertise, but like for instance, somebody was doing the nutcracker and they wanted a whole nutcracker background.
- 14:47SPEAKER_00: We have the abilities to do that, or a big backdrop that said your logo.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: They're gonna be expensive, probably, because I think we have to sew three panels together, but they're beautiful.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: We do them for our nationals, and I they're huge and I love them.
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: They're just they go across the whole stadium, so we can do things like that too.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: That would be a real custom item, but you need those sometimes, and then you keep it from year to year and it makes your life easier.
- 15:11SPEAKER_04: And they're such high quality that once you have one and it has a logo on it, you're it you'll be able to use it over and over and over again.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: Okay, that's great.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: We even do um things that are that are you could do for customer appreciation gifts, like all of our top camp coaches.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: We sent them charcuterie boards this year with their team name on them because that's something we wanted to give them to have because they brought all their kids to camp.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: So, I mean, it's things like that that you could give to your top parents or whatever.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, we have it all.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: We have costumes in there, we have leotards that you could embroider or embellish, and every kind of sweatshirt, jersey we can die sublimate.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: So we hope you hit us up at where do they find you?
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: The teahive.
- 15:59SPEAKER_03: The teahive uh www.theteahive.com.
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:03SPEAKER_03: Um, otherwise, our what's what's our support inbox?
- 16:06SPEAKER_04: It's support at the teahive.com.
- 16:09SPEAKER_04: It's a little difficult.
- 16:10SPEAKER_04: It's the teahive.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: If you forget, just email me and I will forward it to those guys.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: So they're the best.
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: And thanks for coming on today.
- 16:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, thank you, Cindy.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: We appreciate it.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: And you know, I keep hearing people go, where can I get this?
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: Where can I get that?
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: And this is where you can get it.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: So thank you.
- 16:29SPEAKER_01: Make the rhythm, quick call, quick create.
