- 0:04Speaker 1: Tune in weekdays at four on Radio Hodarkeys Smashing pumpkins.
- 0:08Speaker 2: There on the Radio Hodarchy Big Show this Monday afternoon.
- 0:12Speaker 2: The time is five thirty eight. Fellas, sounds like we
- 0:15Speaker 2: all had pretty busy weekends. And I don't mean busy
- 0:18Speaker 2: week oh maybe, no, you know, I don't mean busy weekends.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I just mean a busy week We were all doing
- 0:24Speaker 2: stuff that we loved, but the sounds of it. My
- 0:27Speaker 2: wife and I ended up going up to Ponsonby Road
- 0:30Speaker 2: on Saturday night because the Pride parade was on right
- 0:34Speaker 2: and we were very keen to go go along and
- 0:36Speaker 2: support that. We got our timing wrong because we thought
- 0:39Speaker 2: it was about seven o'clock that it started. Didn't actually
- 0:43Speaker 2: properly begin till seven point thirty, so we were a
- 0:46Speaker 2: bit early, and so I said to my wife, well, look,
- 0:50Speaker 2: you know, let's just walk along Ponsonby Road anyway, get
- 0:54Speaker 2: the steps and get the step count up, you know.
- 0:57Speaker 2: And there was heaps going on on Ponsonby Road. Anyway,
- 1:00Speaker 2: it was all set up. It was great and we
- 1:03Speaker 2: got to the end of the road and everyone had
- 1:05Speaker 2: congregated there was a great congregation of people celebrating, you know,
- 1:10Speaker 2: Pride Parade, obviously a lot of companies and stuff like that,
- 1:14Speaker 2: and my wife and I got talking to a few
- 1:16Speaker 2: people and so forth, and we were just sort of
- 1:19Speaker 2: mingling with the crowd there, and then it just started
- 1:22Speaker 2: moving forward. And so my wife and I we were
- 1:25Speaker 2: talking with this other couple and we didn't sort of
- 1:29Speaker 2: realize that it was actually part of the Pride Parade
- 1:31Speaker 2: and we were actually walking with the Pride.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Parade on the radio now on the road. So we
- 1:41Speaker 3: were walking with.
- 1:42Speaker 2: You know, all the backbones that were representing it at Pride,
- 1:46Speaker 2: and old Howdy Jay's walking along there with his wife
- 1:49Speaker 2: and chatting away to this other couple.
- 1:50Speaker 3: And then I hear ah, Hoidy j rebig.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Represent I was wearing I Rebig Year hat, and so I.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Was like, oh, actually.
- 2:07Speaker 2: I should just carry on with us because people think
- 2:09Speaker 2: that's what I'm wearing to be part of.
- 2:11Speaker 3: The Pride parade.
- 2:12Speaker 2: So and the amount of people that were screaming out
- 2:16Speaker 2: re Big Year, right, and then I I got into
- 2:19Speaker 2: the music. I did a bit of a dance, you know.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I took a few items off because I was a
- 2:23Speaker 2: little bit overdressed.
- 2:25Speaker 3: You know, I really got into the because I tell you.
- 2:27Speaker 4: What, did you get thrown out because you're you're taking
- 2:30Speaker 4: it too fast?
- 2:31Speaker 2: We like Actually, in the end that's what ended up happened,
- 2:33Speaker 2: because the further down the road we got, MOGI, the
- 2:35Speaker 2: more I was taking off because I tell you what,
- 2:38Speaker 2: there's a lot of buttocks, there's a there's a lot
- 2:41Speaker 2: of beautiful human bodies walking in Pride Parade.
- 2:45Speaker 4: Absolutely absolutely, can you well, there be people out there
- 2:49Speaker 4: that don't know what the Pride Parade is. Explain it
- 2:51Speaker 4: for us.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Well, Pride Parade are celebrating the gay community out there,
- 2:57Speaker 2: the rainbow, if you will, and I first six ualities whatever.
- 3:02Speaker 4: They are beautiful and as a result in what they
- 3:04Speaker 4: do to celebrate that is often it's it's pretty pretty clothing.
- 3:08Speaker 4: Liss very much.
- 3:10Speaker 2: I'll tell you what I got to say. The costumes
- 3:12Speaker 2: were amazing. You know, there's a lot of music pumping out.
- 3:15Speaker 2: By the time I got halfway down, ponto me right,
- 3:17Speaker 2: I only had my rebier gear head on.
- 3:19Speaker 5: Right, so because I wasn't Now I'm just pat sure's still.
- 3:22Speaker 3: In the old last sue.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Holders, right, pugs.
- 3:29Speaker 6: Can you do a photo of like naked Parker from
- 3:32Speaker 6: Thunderbirds No.
- 3:34Speaker 5: Kids in the front of a parade with a Reburger head.
- 3:36Speaker 4: On, with a really horrid looking less so in his hand.
- 3:42Speaker 1: There's Pepsis The Hurdiarchy Big Show week days from four
- 3:47Speaker 1: on Radio.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Hoo Oldgy Pope feels the time, by the way, six
- 3:53Speaker 2: forty two peras.
- 3:55Speaker 3: But right now it's time for the stoic Reading of the.
- 3:59Speaker 5: Day with Hoidy J.
- 4:04Speaker 6: Of the Day makes it seem like you're going to
- 4:06Speaker 6: do this daily, but this is probably the first one
- 4:08Speaker 6: I've done it in three weeks more.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I just couldn't be asked, you know what I mean?
- 4:15Speaker 4: Is stoic of you?
- 4:16Speaker 3: Well, I'm just being honest.
- 4:19Speaker 5: What do you want to do it now?
- 4:21Speaker 3: Not really, but anyway I said, I would say.
- 4:24Speaker 5: Okay, I'll hang on, we're going to do it. We've
- 4:26Speaker 5: got to sell the same.
- 4:27Speaker 6: I'll just replay it and then you launch into it, allright,
- 4:29Speaker 6: and just pretend that you want to be here.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Okay, the stoic Reading of the Day.
- 4:37Speaker 5: With Hoidy J.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Fellas. This is a really good one.
- 4:40Speaker 2: And there's one that really affected me and touched me
- 4:43Speaker 2: deeply and really touched a nerve for old hoodie j
- 4:45Speaker 2: because it's something that I suffer from terribly, and it's
- 4:49Speaker 2: from our good mate Seneca.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Oh yeah, and he writes, yeah it's and Sendeca.
- 4:55Speaker 5: Now hang on, isn't it isn't here formula one racing.
- 4:59Speaker 2: And he rights, we are often more frightened than hurt,
- 5:06Speaker 2: and we suffer more in imagination than in reality. One
- 5:14Speaker 2: more time, we are often more frightened than hurt, and
- 5:20Speaker 2: we suffer more in imagination than in reality.
- 5:25Speaker 5: Break it down for us jeers can use it in
- 5:27Speaker 5: So what does it even mean?
- 5:31Speaker 3: Like when you were a young kid, kesy.
- 5:35Speaker 2: And you you know, had to go and swim at
- 5:40Speaker 2: the pools right and.
- 5:45Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah yeah, just picture them now.
- 5:48Speaker 3: You would scream and yell and at your mom.
- 5:52Speaker 2: No, no, mamma keasy, no, mumma, kesey.
- 5:56Speaker 3: I don't want to do it.
- 5:57Speaker 2: I don't want to do it because and you were
- 6:01Speaker 2: thinking about your NEPs.
- 6:03Speaker 3: And the ridicule that you were going to get, and
- 6:06Speaker 3: in your imagination.
- 6:07Speaker 2: You created this world where everyone was going in reality yes,
- 6:13Speaker 2: you know, whereas in reality people were disgusted but they
- 6:16Speaker 2: didn't really care. No, And so the the the imagination
- 6:23Speaker 2: in places that were much darker than the actual reality. Yes,
- 6:27Speaker 2: people were disgusted, but not as disgusted as they were.
- 6:31Speaker 3: In your mind.
- 6:32Speaker 5: I don't know, I felt like there were more.
- 6:34Speaker 6: Yeah, yes, So does this resonate with you all?
- 6:38Speaker 4: Well, it is, isn't it. It's the fear that you
- 6:40Speaker 4: create in your mind. Yes, is often worse than the reality.
- 6:44Speaker 4: So you think, oh, no, I did not do that
- 6:46Speaker 4: because of you know, X, Y and Z. You make
- 6:47Speaker 4: all the excuses, and then when you're do that, wasn't
- 6:49Speaker 4: that bad at all? Yes? Better off just doing it,
- 6:52Speaker 4: cracking on with it always, but worse in your imagination
- 6:55Speaker 4: than it is in reality, unless it is worse in reality.
- 6:58Speaker 6: Well, that's what I'll argue is that, you know, I
- 7:00Speaker 6: was when Jay Cidy was going to do a Starke
- 7:02Speaker 6: reading the day. I was like, in my head, I
- 7:04Speaker 6: was like, this is going to be terrible, right yeah yeah,
- 7:06Speaker 6: And then we're doing it now in reality and it's
- 7:09Speaker 6: way worse than I thought.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Right. Okay, Well you think about anxiety, right, you hung
- 7:17Speaker 2: over and you go, oh my god, what did I
- 7:19Speaker 2: do last night? And your imagination. You know, you're an
- 7:22Speaker 2: absolute piece of work and incredibly handsy, you know, and
- 7:27Speaker 2: groping and saying inappropriate stuff. But the reality is probably
- 7:31Speaker 2: that you were just you know, a little bit steamed
- 7:34Speaker 2: and you had a nice evening and.
- 7:35Speaker 3: When went to bed.
- 7:38Speaker 4: Right unless you didn't.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Unless you didn't, of course, and you were really handsy
- 7:42Speaker 2: and shock and you know, saying really inappropriate stuff because
- 7:45Speaker 2: you'd had fifty bees.
- 7:47Speaker 6: This is a hypothetical situation though it feels like you're
- 7:50Speaker 6: talking about me.
- 7:51Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, you see that again in your imagination.
- 7:56Speaker 3: You think we're talking about you, but in front of me.
- 7:59Speaker 3: So the reality is we're not.
- 8:01Speaker 4: Are we made No, that's right, okay, But if it's
- 8:03Speaker 4: ringing some bells, well it's not.
- 8:12Speaker 1: The hold aking big show with Mike and Kezy. Tune
- 8:15Speaker 1: in week days at four on.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Radio Stained Stained.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Never really heard of them, not really familiar with Stained,
- 8:26Speaker 2: I'll be honest with your fair.
- 8:27Speaker 4: Well, they came out and a round about your two
- 8:29Speaker 4: thousand and three four roundabout then, okay? Produced by Fred
- 8:35Speaker 4: Durst from Limp Biscuit. Yes, Stained, we're on a tour
- 8:39Speaker 4: with Limp Biscuit and old Fred Durst came out there
- 8:42Speaker 4: and sang a song with him that blew up. The
- 8:44Speaker 4: live version of it, and then he went on to
- 8:46Speaker 4: produce their album and that did pretty well. Although really,
- 8:49Speaker 4: if you're honest with yourself, Stained are shit. But they've
- 8:52Speaker 4: got a couple of good chunes.
- 8:53Speaker 6: Yeah, from that era of sort of like Creed and
- 8:56Speaker 6: a few other bands where they've got a few songs.
- 8:58Speaker 5: I love this song.
- 8:59Speaker 4: I would say Creed are infinitely better because you've got
- 9:02Speaker 4: great A lot of great songs are about guilty pleasure.
- 9:05Speaker 4: But stayed that. I tried to like them. It's a
- 9:08Speaker 4: hard listen, but.
- 9:08Speaker 6: There's so many bands like that though. It's been like
- 9:10Speaker 6: even on our plate, it's like quite a lot of
- 9:12Speaker 6: the bands. They have a great song, yeah, and then
- 9:15Speaker 6: you go and listen to more than you like.
- 9:16Speaker 3: Oh ah, yes, y yeah, Okay, so I might do
- 9:19Speaker 3: that on my walk.
- 9:20Speaker 4: Aaron Lewis. Aaron Lewis is the fellow's name.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Can I say this and it's you? It might be
- 9:24Speaker 2: a little bit controversially. It's a very sort of steady
- 9:27Speaker 2: kind of voice. I mean it's a good voice, it's
- 9:29Speaker 2: very right, but it's very Yeah, it's.
- 9:32Speaker 4: The old school, slightly off Eddie Vida, sort of a
- 9:35Speaker 4: little bit nasally up there, very typical of the times. Yes,
- 9:38Speaker 4: same as Creed's got step ripped his voice off too
- 9:41Speaker 4: very much.
- 9:42Speaker 2: So now after six o'clock we're going to try and
- 9:44Speaker 2: help Kesey snap out of his dumpling addiction.
- 9:47Speaker 5: You're sing good luck with that.
- 9:49Speaker 1: By the way, the whole aking Big Show with Jason,
- 9:52Speaker 1: Mike and Kezy tune in week days at four on
- 9:55Speaker 1: Radio Hodarchy Chemical Brothers.
- 9:57Speaker 2: There on the radio Hold Archy Big Show. There's Wednesday afternoon.
- 10:01Speaker 2: The time is four thirty eight. Fellows, I'm on the
- 10:04Speaker 2: horns of a dilemma and I need your help.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Sureman, you're a sting for.
- 10:09Speaker 5: Their kisy ah. What was it? Dilemma?
- 10:12Speaker 3: Horns of a dilemma?
- 10:18Speaker 5: Horns of a dilemma with.
- 10:21Speaker 4: Canon who Benny Hill won?
- 10:24Speaker 3: No?
- 10:27Speaker 4: Horns of the dim with Jezebot.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Let me sit the scene if I may.
- 10:35Speaker 6: So.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Tomorrow is my youngest daughter's eighteenth birthday.
- 10:41Speaker 5: Okay, big day.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Now, as you'll be aware, we've just moved into an apartment.
- 10:47Speaker 2: And I said to my daughter, and my wife said
- 10:49Speaker 2: to my daughter, what do you want to do on
- 10:50Speaker 2: your birthday?
- 10:50Speaker 4: Your apartment there? Yeah?
- 10:51Speaker 2: Yeah, And she said, wow, I want to get all
- 10:55Speaker 2: my friends over like the filth from out West and
- 11:01Speaker 2: I want them to come to the apartment and then
- 11:05Speaker 2: we're going to go clubbing. That sounds great, And I
- 11:08Speaker 2: said clubbing really, and she said yeah, I've got to
- 11:11Speaker 2: do it. I've got to go clubbing. And I was like, okay, fine,
- 11:17Speaker 2: you can do that. And I said, what are you
- 11:19Speaker 2: going to do afterwards? And she said, well, then we'll
- 11:22Speaker 2: all just come back to the apartment. Presumably one would
- 11:26Speaker 2: think in the early hours of the morning, in celebratory mood. Well,
- 11:32Speaker 2: now you know from your own experience of my apartment,
- 11:37Speaker 2: we're at seven thirsty. Whilst we were having a dinner party,
- 11:42Speaker 2: one of my neighbors came up and complained about the noise.
- 11:46Speaker 2: And I have deep concerns, and I've said this to
- 11:50Speaker 2: my daughter. I said, well, how about we pay for
- 11:54Speaker 2: an uber for you and your mates to go back
- 11:56Speaker 2: to your mate's place who lives out west. And she
- 11:59Speaker 2: was like, no, I really want to come back to
- 12:02Speaker 2: the apartment and do that. And I said, well, I
- 12:05Speaker 2: just don't think it'll be very fun because we'll be
- 12:08Speaker 2: coming in constantly going.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Guys, keep it down.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Just they'll be thumping around all over the place, slamming
- 12:18Speaker 2: bloody doors, you know, laughing, have a merry old time
- 12:21Speaker 2: because who knows what they're going to get.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Up to on the bloody nightclub?
- 12:25Speaker 2: Right, because she's legally now able to do certain things
- 12:29Speaker 2: which I'm not stoked about, by the way.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Right, what do I do here? Fellis it's going to
- 12:35Speaker 3: turn into a ship fight?
- 12:36Speaker 4: Now? What day of the week is she doing this?
- 12:38Speaker 3: Tomorrow?
- 12:39Speaker 4: She's doing it on a Thursday. L have you been
- 12:43Speaker 4: to a nightclob kez here? Just like a bar, just
- 12:45Speaker 4: sort of like a lounge bar dancing.
- 12:49Speaker 6: Not thirteen years but from what I remember, Thursday's go
- 12:53Speaker 6: all rightys, go good cheap?
- 12:55Speaker 4: Do you get dis kind of drinks as well? She'll
- 12:57Speaker 4: be drinking carapis, she'll be. I guess you got to
- 13:01Speaker 4: ask yourself what your priorities are, Jason, Yes, okay, look
- 13:04Speaker 4: at ask yourself this. What's more important the happiness of
- 13:07Speaker 4: my daughter on the eighteenth birthday or the my neighbors
- 13:12Speaker 4: who are all ancient elderly have no jobs to worry about,
- 13:18Speaker 4: and there them getting good a good night's sleep.
- 13:23Speaker 3: My neighbors.
- 13:24Speaker 5: Yeah that's your priority.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, totally.
- 13:26Speaker 4: Man.
- 13:26Speaker 6: Another option is you could pay for a hotel or
- 13:30Speaker 6: something nearby, and say what you guys get a big
- 13:33Speaker 6: hotel there, and you guys all get all.
- 13:34Speaker 4: The neighbors to go in state.
- 13:35Speaker 3: Jeez, what do you old money bags? Howdy j.
- 13:40Speaker 2: I've run through my dog squad money mate, there's no
- 13:43Speaker 2: that series isn't coming back.
- 13:45Speaker 6: You're loaded, man, I dropped the act, Hody, Joe, we
- 13:47Speaker 6: know you got cash to burn.
- 13:48Speaker 5: Brother.
- 13:49Speaker 4: I think you have to tell them. I mean I
- 13:52Speaker 4: would just say, you go for it. Yeah, that's what
- 13:54Speaker 4: I'd say. That that would be That would be me.
- 13:56Speaker 4: And it's just too bad for the neighbors.
- 13:58Speaker 3: It is.
- 13:58Speaker 4: It is also living. But I've lived in that environment before,
- 14:02Speaker 4: and so I would say, look, they're welcome to come
- 14:04Speaker 4: over beforehand, then you can go out, then they can
- 14:07Speaker 4: go home. Yeah, but I'm not having all your mates.
- 14:09Speaker 4: You're an adult now. You don't get to have your
- 14:11Speaker 4: mates to come over, unless, of course, you're in your
- 14:13Speaker 4: own house, which you're welcome to do.
- 14:16Speaker 3: That's a great one. When do you want your own home?
- 14:20Speaker 3: You can do whatever the hell your bloody want. Well.
- 14:22Speaker 4: Also, you've got to keep in mind the fact that
- 14:24Speaker 4: I guess, yeah, I mean, do you want her to
- 14:28Speaker 4: stay home and live with you or do you want
- 14:32Speaker 4: me to move out? Because these are the sorts of
- 14:34Speaker 4: things that's going to push things to a decision one
- 14:36Speaker 4: way or the other.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Well, actually that's why I left home in the end,
- 14:39Speaker 2: because I was party boy, yes, and it was like
- 14:42Speaker 2: me and your father was like, well this is this
- 14:44Speaker 2: isn't working out to party boy.
- 14:47Speaker 5: Hoyt, I reckon.
- 14:48Speaker 6: What you're going to do is you have to go
- 14:49Speaker 6: around to your neighbor, especially that the lady below you
- 14:53Speaker 6: who interrupted out did a party after twenty minutes, saying
- 14:56Speaker 6: we were too loud, and you've got to tell them
- 14:58Speaker 6: that tomorrow nice mate, my daughter's a tenth birthday.
- 15:00Speaker 5: He and mate's going to come home from.
- 15:01Speaker 6: Clubbing and just just so you're aware, and it'll be
- 15:04Speaker 6: the only time it happens because it's her birthday.
- 15:06Speaker 3: You know, she's terrifying.
- 15:11Speaker 5: Okay, Well you can write a note and your daughter.
- 15:14Speaker 4: Can go down and do it.
- 15:15Speaker 3: You can.
- 15:16Speaker 4: But you can say it's good for her, but really
- 15:18Speaker 4: it's because you're too much. It's coward Yeah, get my
- 15:21Speaker 4: wife to do it. Yeah yeah, and then just and
- 15:23Speaker 4: then just say all right, have every run over. It's
- 15:24Speaker 4: your eighteenth birthday. Go for it and just alert the neighbors.
- 15:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:28Speaker 4: Then I come home at three o'clock in the morning
- 15:29Speaker 4: absolutely hammered bang on for another three hour, smoking darts
- 15:32Speaker 4: and all sorts, and you guys were sweet with their day.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Maybe I'll make them a cheese board or something like
- 15:38Speaker 2: that for when they come home.
- 15:39Speaker 4: You'll have to bring it over.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:41Speaker 5: True, you don't do on trees or anything.
- 15:43Speaker 3: Eh, coutious.
- 15:46Speaker 2: I mean my wife is getting a t shirt with
- 15:48Speaker 2: a letters at number six on it.
- 15:50Speaker 3: By the way, cool?
- 15:51Speaker 5: Can I play the Food Fighters?
- 15:52Speaker 1: No, the whole aching Big Show with Mike and Kezy.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Tune in week days at four on Radio hod Ikey
