Transcript
- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, December 21st.
- 0:11Unshakable hope. Have you ever wanted something
- 0:14so badly it started running your life like it's the first thing
- 0:17you think about and the last thing you scroll for?
- 0:19More attention, more money, more approval, more control.
- 0:23Proverbs chapter 30 verse 15 paints that craving like a Leech
- 0:26with two daughters named Give and give.
- 0:29And it says some things never say enough.
- 0:32That's what chasing the world feels like.
- 0:34It keeps asking for more, but it never actually satisfies you.
- 0:38Now listen to the contrast in Psalm 146.
- 0:42It says, put not your trust in Princess, in a son of man in
- 0:45whom there is no salvation. And then blessed is he whose
- 0:48help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God.
- 0:52People can inspire you, trends can hype you up, and even your
- 0:55own feelings can feel convincing.
- 0:57But none of those can save you. They can't hold your soul steady
- 1:00when everything shakes. That's why Psalm chapter 16
- 1:04verse eight hits so deep. I have set the Lord always
- 1:06before me because he is at my right hand.
- 1:09I shall not be shaken, not I might not be shaken not I'll be
- 1:12fine if life is easy. No, I shall not be shaken.
- 1:16That's unshakable hope. And Acts chapter 2 shows us what
- 1:20that hope is built on. Jesus, Peter tells the crowd,
- 1:23God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you
- 1:27crucified. And then he says repent and be
- 1:30baptized, every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the
- 1:32forgiveness of your sins. That's the turning point.
- 1:36Real hope isn't a vibe. It's not a motivational quote.
- 1:39It's a person, Jesus, Lord, and Christ, Savior and King.
- 1:43When you stop chasing what can't satisfy and you turn toward Him,
- 1:46you don't just get a better day. You get forgiveness, a new
- 1:49start, and a foundation that won't collapse when life gets
- 1:52messy. Setting the Lord before you
- 1:54means you're choosing Him as your focus, your anchor.
- 1:57You're enough. Let's pray, Heavenly Father,
- 2:00show me where I've been chasing things that never satisfy.
- 2:03Help me stop putting my trust in people, approval or temporary
- 2:06stuff and teach me to place my hope fully in You.
- 2:10Thank you for Jesus, Lord and Christ who forgives my sin and
- 2:13gives me real life. Help me set you always before me
- 2:17so I won't be shaken. In Jesus name, Amen.

- 3:32Proverbs 3015 to 17 World English Bible The Leech has two
- 3:37daughters. Give, give.
- 3:39There are three things that are never satisfied. 4 That don't
- 3:42say enough. She all, the barren womb, The
- 3:44earth that is not satisfied with water, and the fire that doesn't
- 3:48say enough. The eye that mocks at his father
- 3:51and scorns obedience to his mother.
- 3:53The Ravens of the valley shall pick it out, The young eagles
- 3:56shall eat it. Psalm 146 World English Bible
- 4:00Praise Yah, praise Yahweh. My soul, while I live, I will
- 4:03praise Yahweh, I will sing praises to my God as long as I
- 4:07exist. Don't put your trust in
- 4:09Princess, in a Son of man in whom there is no help.
- 4:12His spirit departs and he returns to the earth.
- 4:15In that very day his thoughts perish.
- 4:17Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for His help, whose hope
- 4:20is in Yahweh, His God who made heaven and earth, the sea and
- 4:24all that is in them, who keeps truth forever, who executes
- 4:28justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry.
- 4:31Yahweh frees the prisoners. Yahweh opens the eyes of the
- 4:34blind. Yahweh raises up those who are
- 4:36bowed down. Yahweh loves the righteous.
- 4:39Yahweh preserves the foreigners, He upholds the fatherless and
- 4:42widow, but He turns the way of the wicked upside down.
- 4:45Yahweh will reign forever your God, O Zion to all generations,
- 4:50praise Yah. Psalm 16, eight to 11 World
- 4:53English Bible. I have set Yahweh always before
- 4:56me because He is at my right hand.
- 4:58I shall not be moved, therefore my heart is glad and my tongue
- 5:02rejoices. My body shall also dwell in
- 5:04safety. For you will not leave my soul
- 5:07in Sheol, neither will you allow your Holy One to see corruption.
- 5:11You will show me the path of life.
- 5:12In Your presence is fullness of joy.
- 5:15In your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.
- 5:17Acts 222 to 39 World English Bible.
- 5:21Men of Israel, hear these words, Jesus of Nazareth, a man
- 5:25approved by God to you by mighty works and wonders and signs,
- 5:28which God did by him among you, even as you yourselves know him,
- 5:32being delivered up by the determined counsel and for
- 5:34knowledge of God. You have taken by the hand of
- 5:37lawless men, crucified and killed, whom God raised up,
- 5:41having freed him from the agony of death, because it was not
- 5:44possible that he should be held by it.
- 5:47For David says concerning him, I saw the Lord always before my
- 5:50face, for He is on my right hand that I should not be moved.
- 5:54Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue rejoiced.
- 5:57Moreover, my flesh also will dwell in hope, because you will
- 6:00not leave my soul in Hades, neither will you allow your Holy
- 6:04One to see decay. You made known to me the ways of
- 6:07life. You will make me full of
- 6:08gladness with your presence. Brothers, I may tell you freely
- 6:12of the Patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and
- 6:16his tomb is with us to this day. Therefore, being a prophet, and
- 6:19knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit
- 6:22of his body according to the flesh, he would raise up the
- 6:26Christ to sit on his throne. He, foreseeing this, spoke about
- 6:29the resurrection of the Christ, that his soul wasn't left in
- 6:32hades, and his flesh didn't see decay.
- 6:35This Jesus God raised up, to which we all are witnesses,
- 6:39Being therefore exalted by the right hand of God, and having
- 6:42received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he
- 6:45has poured out this which you now see and hear.
- 6:48For David didn't ascend into the heavens, but he says himself,
- 6:51The Lord said to my Lord, sit by my right hand until I make your
- 6:55enemies a footstool for your feet.
- 6:58Let all the House of Israel therefore know certainly that
- 7:01God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you
- 7:04crucified. Now when they heard this, they
- 7:07were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the
- 7:09apostles. Brothers, what shall we do?
- 7:12Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized everyone of you in
- 7:16the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you
- 7:19will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
- 7:22For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who
- 7:25are far off, even as many as the Lord our God will call to
- 7:29Himself. Thanks for joining us on Bible
- 7:33Chat, where Scripture meets everyday life.
