- 0:00Speaker 1: Toby and Chilly Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point one.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Washef out if you're wondering about the day ahead, Well,
- 0:07Speaker 2: they say you should do your outdoor stuff early and
- 0:09Speaker 2: keep the umbrella handy later. Let's let later worry about
- 0:13Speaker 2: itself later. Shall we welcome to a brand new day?
- 0:16Speaker 2: Toby and Chilly in the morning. It's ninety seven point
- 0:18Speaker 2: one wash FM Thursday in the Nation's Capital eight six
- 0:22Speaker 2: six nine two seven forty three sixty one. Why are
- 0:25Speaker 2: you feeling good this morning there at Chilia mar.
- 0:27Speaker 3: I'm feeling good because today's the open house for my
- 0:30Speaker 3: son's middle school. He's starting seventh grade, which is the
- 0:33Speaker 3: first year of middle school, and where we live in
- 0:35Speaker 3: Fairfax County, and so he gets to schedule today Toby, Yeah,
- 0:39Speaker 3: that's fun. This afternoon, my husband and I, along with
- 0:42Speaker 3: our son Donado, we'll go to the school together at
- 0:45Speaker 3: one o'clock and we will walk to his different classes
- 0:50Speaker 3: and classrooms and meet his teachers. So I'm feeling good
- 0:53Speaker 3: because I'm looking forward to kind of seeing how he
- 0:57Speaker 3: adjusts to this.
- 0:59Speaker 4: New normal next week when school starts.
- 1:01Speaker 2: So yeah, this is growing up to quote that Blink
- 1:05Speaker 2: one two song from back in the day, and I
- 1:07Speaker 2: remember those first days of school. They were always fun.
- 1:10Speaker 2: There was anticipation, probably a degree of anxiety, but you
- 1:13Speaker 2: know what, back to school is on the brain of
- 1:16Speaker 2: everybody right about now in the DMV. I'm feeling good
- 1:19Speaker 2: because yesterday I did something proactive with our insurance company.
- 1:22Speaker 2: You know how they require pre authorization for a lot
- 1:25Speaker 2: of things. M Well, there was some back and forth
- 1:28Speaker 2: that caused me to miss two months of physical therapy
- 1:32Speaker 2: because of approvals between insurance companies and hospitals. It was
- 1:36Speaker 2: kind of crazy, honestly. Well, knowing that I have six
- 1:40Speaker 2: sessions left from this approval, I went and shot the
- 1:46Speaker 2: fired off the shot across the bout with the insurance
- 1:48Speaker 2: company and said, hey, this needs to happen. It needs
- 1:52Speaker 2: to be seamless. I do not want to lose two
- 1:55Speaker 2: months of physical therapy again because of whatever. And so
- 1:59Speaker 2: they're on it. The good people at the insurance company
- 2:02Speaker 2: are on it today and I should expect an email
- 2:05Speaker 2: confirmation of different things that they're doing to make sure
- 2:09Speaker 2: that we're ready to go. I mean, I didn't come
- 2:11Speaker 2: across as angry, but I just called an asked, and
- 2:14Speaker 2: I worked ahead and wasn't last minute, so little wins,
- 2:17Speaker 2: especially when dealing with the insurance cartel, I mean the
- 2:21Speaker 2: insurance companies. It is ninety seven point one watch FM.
- 2:24Speaker 2: You're feeling good, tell us why we're right here listening
- 2:27Speaker 2: and your joy is contagious. In the meantime, we got
- 2:30Speaker 2: to get to the news Top stories at the top
- 2:31Speaker 2: of the hour. On the way, what's going on?
- 2:33Speaker 3: Some shocking news came down last night. Not sure if
- 2:36Speaker 3: you heard, but Prince Harry and Megan Markle apparently are
- 2:40Speaker 3: moving back to the UK. I've got the latest details
- 2:44Speaker 3: coming up in just a.
- 2:44Speaker 5: Few top stories top of the hour, the President says
- 2:51Speaker 5: the US is launching a quote crushing economic operation against
- 2:56Speaker 5: Iran after Tehran failed to make a deal.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Now he's warning of un precedented economic isolation and says
- 3:02Speaker 3: that any country who does business with Iran will face
- 3:05Speaker 3: steep consequences. Pilis, the man who's charged in the Great
- 3:09Speaker 3: Falls killing, had planned the attack, grabbing a knife, gloves,
- 3:13Speaker 3: and even a water bottle that he later filled with
- 3:16Speaker 3: gasoline before he met his victim at the park. The
- 3:19Speaker 3: nineteen year old suspect who worked with the forty two
- 3:22Speaker 3: year old rest and woman reportedly had an intimate relationship
- 3:26Speaker 3: with her. The Dallas Airport Board approved fifteen point five
- 3:32Speaker 3: billion dollars for the President's renovation. Planet's part of a
- 3:36Speaker 3: nearly twenty billion dollar overhaul that will include new underground tunnels,
- 3:41Speaker 3: replacing the people mover shuttles, and also rebuilding the main
- 3:45Speaker 3: terminal starting next year.
- 3:47Speaker 4: Frederick County students back to.
- 3:49Speaker 3: School this week under new rules that require phones, smart
- 3:52Speaker 3: watches and even earbuds to stay off and out of
- 3:56Speaker 3: sight all day, with exceptions for medical needs. The district
- 4:01Speaker 3: is getting ahead of statewide Maryland law that requires similar
- 4:05Speaker 3: policies by next year, and Prince Harry and Megan Markle
- 4:09Speaker 3: are moving back to the UK this fall for an
- 4:12Speaker 3: extended stay, although they're not going to be working as royals.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Their kids have already been enrolled, apparently in British schools
- 4:19Speaker 3: as Harry works to reconnect with his father, King Charles,
- 4:23Speaker 3: who's going through cancer treatments. Forecast for today cloudy's guys,
- 4:27Speaker 3: with a chance of some severe storms later on highs
- 4:30Speaker 3: in the upper eighties.
- 4:31Speaker 4: Right now seventy two in Lorton.
- 4:33Speaker 2: That's the news. Stay right there. It's ninety seven point
- 4:36Speaker 2: one WASHEF M Tilby and chilly in the morning. You
- 4:38Speaker 2: do it all right, want to check in with you
- 4:40Speaker 2: in just a few minutes. Your morning mindsets on the way.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Good morning and welcome to a brand new day. At
- 4:46Speaker 2: ninety seven point one, WASHEF M Tiby and chilly in
- 4:48Speaker 2: the morning. And it's time now for your morning mindset.
- 4:50Speaker 2: If you're just joining us for the first time, you
- 4:52Speaker 2: don't know what this is.
- 4:53Speaker 3: This is when we find a quote and we share
- 4:55Speaker 3: it with you because we think if you think about
- 4:57Speaker 3: the message, it could inspire you as and motivate you
- 5:00Speaker 3: to take on the rest of your day.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Forever is composed of nows. That's from Emily Dickinson. Forever
- 5:10Speaker 2: is composed of now. So why is this important to
- 5:15Speaker 2: you and to I and to us this morning? Well,
- 5:18Speaker 2: we need to stop waiting for life to finally begin.
- 5:21Speaker 2: You know. Yeah, And it does not matter how old
- 5:23Speaker 2: you are. You could be twenty five, fifty five, whatever.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Are you waiting for your life to finally begin? Maybe
- 5:31Speaker 2: you think you're being productive, but argue that you can
- 5:34Speaker 2: answer that question. I can't answer it for you, nobody
- 5:36Speaker 2: else can answer it for you. But this morning, remember
- 5:39Speaker 2: that this is part of the life you've been waiting
- 5:43Speaker 2: for today, this moment right now, so stop waiting for
- 5:47Speaker 2: your life to finally begin all right Forever is composed
- 5:52Speaker 2: of Now's Emily Dickinson with your morning mindset for this Thursday.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Hopefully it spoke to you and if it did, share
- 5:58Speaker 2: it with someone who might need it. You can find
- 5:59Speaker 2: it the Instagram page. You can see it in our
- 6:02Speaker 2: stories and if you need it, hit me up on
- 6:04Speaker 2: the Toby and chilipage at washfm dot com. Either one
- 6:07Speaker 2: of us will be happy to send it your way.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Now hang out for a few minutes here at ninety
- 6:11Speaker 2: seven point one wash FM.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Single moms are making mom munes really popular. This may
- 6:18Speaker 3: actually be a very attractive option for you and you'll
- 6:21Speaker 3: hear more about it.
- 6:23Speaker 6: It's like a commune, only it's not. It's a mom mune.
- 6:26Speaker 2: The question this morning here at ninety seven point one
- 6:28Speaker 2: WASHEFM with Toby and Chilly in the morning, is would
- 6:30Speaker 2: you raise your kids with your best friend. Seems like
- 6:33Speaker 2: single moms are choosing to do just this across the
- 6:37Speaker 2: country and what they call the mom mune.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Yeah, there was actually a feature on the Today Show
- 6:43Speaker 3: two single mom teachers decided to move into a New
- 6:47Speaker 3: York City apartment together with their three kids to split
- 6:49Speaker 3: the housing finances and also the mental load of parenting.
- 6:52Speaker 4: You know, it takes a village, and.
- 6:54Speaker 3: It's certainly easier to do that when you have somebody
- 6:57Speaker 3: to share those responsibilities with.
- 6:58Speaker 2: You know, then they're splitting up everything like you're cooking,
- 7:01Speaker 2: the rent, the chores, the child care. But they're not
- 7:05Speaker 2: a couple, so don't get it twisted. They're just like, hey,
- 7:08Speaker 2: we're friends, sometimes best friends. I would say chilly that
- 7:13Speaker 2: a mom mune sort of a thing fascinates me because
- 7:17Speaker 2: sometimes that can be a little bit too much on
- 7:20Speaker 2: a friendship, and I wonder what that might entail if
- 7:24Speaker 2: a mom mune goes bad.
- 7:25Speaker 3: I will say, I've thought about doing this if I
- 7:27Speaker 3: ever got forbid, got a divorce, or lost my husband
- 7:30Speaker 3: in any way, shape or form. You would have to
- 7:32Speaker 3: choose the right people or person to do it with.
- 7:35Speaker 3: And the kids are the center of the home. So
- 7:37Speaker 3: this is all about helping you manage your life logistically
- 7:43Speaker 3: with the child and financially raising a child.
- 7:45Speaker 2: It's six six, nine, seven, forty three sixty one. It's
- 7:48Speaker 2: the number you can also tap the talk back microphone.
- 7:50Speaker 2: If you have some thoughts, would you raise your kids
- 7:53Speaker 2: with your best friend in a mom mune sort of
- 7:55Speaker 2: a situation.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Or a dad june.
- 7:57Speaker 6: Well, well I didn't say that, but you know what
- 8:00Speaker 6: that is true.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I mean, like I need that do it? I couldn't.
- 8:03Speaker 2: I mean, what's good for the mom mune is good
- 8:04Speaker 2: for the dad yune. Right right. We just got a
- 8:07Speaker 2: talkback message from Brittany who is commuting into work this
- 8:11Speaker 2: morning with Aaron.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Can we live together?
- 8:13Speaker 5: We have a mom mune and we wouldn't do anything
- 8:17Speaker 5: without it.
- 8:17Speaker 4: It's amazing perfection.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Yes, thank you, and thank you for leaving that message.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Perfect she said, perfection, Chill.
- 8:25Speaker 3: I think that in the area that we live in
- 8:27Speaker 3: and how expensive it is to raise kids, the mom
- 8:29Speaker 3: mune idea should continue to grow.
- 8:32Speaker 2: There you go, think of a house. She could have
- 8:34Speaker 2: you split that rent between like two three four moms.
- 8:37Speaker 2: It's ninety seven point one watch FM. If you have thoughts,
- 8:40Speaker 2: you know where to find us. If you need the news,
- 8:42Speaker 2: don't go anywhere. Top stories at the top of the hour,
- 8:45Speaker 2: minutes away. So what's going on this morning?
- 8:47Speaker 3: Have you ever walked out on a date? Well, they
- 8:51Speaker 3: did a survey, and we'll share the number one reason
- 8:54Speaker 3: adults say they left early.
- 8:56Speaker 4: In just a few.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Minutes, let the work email wait till later. Nothing good
- 9:00Speaker 2: comes this morning, but you know what is good. Something
- 9:03Speaker 2: we have for you in just a few On ninety
- 9:05Speaker 2: seven point one WASHFM with Toby and Chilly in the Morning.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Tickets to Dave Matthews band CFG Bank Arena this November.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Listen right around six ten after Toby and Chili's Top Stories.
- 9:15Speaker 2: And you can be caller ten and take those tickets.
- 9:19Speaker 2: By the way. The show CFG Bank Arena details WASHFM
- 9:22Speaker 2: dot Com.
- 9:23Speaker 1: Ninety seven point one WASHFM, Washington, an iHeartRadio station.
- 9:29Speaker 7: Coming up on Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
- 9:31Speaker 3: The Treasury Department says the national debt has now topped
- 9:35Speaker 3: forty trillion dollars. We've got the latest on that story
- 9:39Speaker 3: and others on the way with Toby and Chili in
- 9:42Speaker 3: the Morning on ninety seven point one.
- 9:44Speaker 4: Wash FM.
- 9:47Speaker 7: Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
- 9:49Speaker 3: The national debt has topped forty trillion dollars. That's according
- 9:53Speaker 3: to the Treasury Department, arriving sooner than analysts expected, partly
- 9:57Speaker 3: because courts struck down some of the pre visit it's tariffs,
- 10:01Speaker 3: cutting into revenue the government had counted on. Congressional Democrats
- 10:05Speaker 3: are launching an investigation into ice enforcement in northern Virginia
- 10:09Speaker 3: after an agent pointed a gun at a Louden County
- 10:12Speaker 3: woman during a traffic stop in Bailey's Crossroads. Lawmakers want
- 10:16Speaker 3: the agents involved pulled from duty pending review. The Kennedy
- 10:20Speaker 3: Center says it will not try to restore the president's
- 10:23Speaker 3: name to the building before September eighth, giving time for
- 10:26Speaker 3: legal arguments. Opponents say the board still seems intent on
- 10:31Speaker 3: defying an earlier court order that required the name's removal.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Airport's authority leaders say that Dulles's twenty two billion dollars
- 10:39Speaker 3: makeover will not come out of taxpayer's pockets. The fifteen
- 10:44Speaker 3: year overhaul will be funded through airport revenue, airline payments,
- 10:48Speaker 3: and bonds instead. Another rabid beaver has turned up in Maryland.
- 10:53Speaker 3: This one was found dead on Monday near Senega Creek
- 10:56Speaker 3: State Park, just downstream from where a ten year old
- 10:59Speaker 3: girl was bitten while she was swimming last week, but
- 11:02Speaker 3: it's not clear if it's the same beaver, and according
- 11:04Speaker 3: to a recent survey, forty nine percent of adults say
- 11:07Speaker 3: they walked out on a date early over bad behavior.
- 11:11Speaker 3: That's almost double the number of people who left because
- 11:15Speaker 3: of a misleading photo. Now, parents of young kids have
- 11:18Speaker 3: the least patients for it, with nearly two thirds saying
- 11:22Speaker 3: they've cut a bad date. Short forecast today cloudy's guys,
- 11:26Speaker 3: with a chance of severe storms later. Heiser in the
- 11:29Speaker 3: upper eighties. Right now, seventy three in Lantam.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Now that she's got your news fixed with Toby and
- 11:34Speaker 2: Chilly's top stories top of the hour, why don't you
- 11:36Speaker 2: be callar ten right now? Dave Matthews band coming to

- 11:44Speaker 2: If you want to go, call her ten. The tickets
- 11:46Speaker 2: are yours. That's all you got to do is call
- 11:49Speaker 2: and be Coller ten at eight sixty six nine two
- 11:52Speaker 2: seven forty three sixty one. Congratulations in advance from ninety
- 11:57Speaker 2: seven point one Wash FM.
- 11:58Speaker 6: Call that's that cup.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Of coffee tastes great on the Baltimore Washington Parkway as
- 12:03Speaker 2: you make your way to wherever your morning might be
- 12:07Speaker 2: taking you. It's ninety seven point one, washef im? And
- 12:09Speaker 2: speaking of that coffee, did you get that with a
- 12:11Speaker 2: rewards program this morning? What are your favorite rewards programs?
- 12:17Speaker 2: Are they useful? We're talking about it and you might
- 12:20Speaker 2: have some thoughts at eight sixty six ninety two seven
- 12:22Speaker 2: forty three sixty one. Is it worth it to you
- 12:26Speaker 2: these loyalty programs? Ninety seven point one, Washchef M. Toby
- 12:29Speaker 2: and Chile in the morning at eighty six six nine
- 12:31Speaker 2: two seven forty three sixty one, if you want to
- 12:34Speaker 2: jump into this conversation. Loyalty programs are a way that
- 12:38Speaker 2: businesses do get data about the customers. I will say that.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Well, except you don't know how much data. And there
- 12:46Speaker 3: was a journalist for Wired. He requested his personal data
- 12:49Speaker 3: from McDonald's and he said he got back a five
- 12:52Speaker 3: hundred and fifteen page file that was packed with years
- 12:57Speaker 3: of his purchase history, his loyalty points, and even ai
- 13:01Speaker 3: predictions on exactly how often he would visit, what he'd spend,
- 13:06Speaker 3: and how likely he was to ever stop being a customer.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Are you using your mobile app for the order today?
- 13:15Speaker 2: I'd like you to know that we're keeping all of
- 13:17Speaker 2: your information for years.
- 13:19Speaker 3: But they're using it in a smart I think, in
- 13:22Speaker 3: a smart business way.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:23Speaker 3: They're trying to see what this customer likes. How do
- 13:26Speaker 3: we keep this customer coming back? I have nothing against that.
- 13:29Speaker 3: And by the way, can we admit that some loyalty
- 13:31Speaker 3: programs are much better than others and where you do
- 13:34Speaker 3: get the most bang for your buck.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Yeah, Like, I'll give all the data that I can
- 13:39Speaker 2: to Southwest Airlines because their rapid rewards program is one
- 13:43Speaker 2: of the best loyalty programs on the planet, period, hands down.
- 13:48Speaker 6: Prove me wrong.
- 13:49Speaker 3: I'll wait, that's funny you bring that up, because all
- 13:52Speaker 3: our loyalty points and programs are food related or restaurant related,
- 13:56Speaker 3: like for Silver Diner or Potbelly or all these places
- 14:00Speaker 3: where you order a certain amount and then you get
- 14:02Speaker 3: all these points and you can redeem it for sandwiches
- 14:04Speaker 3: and cookies and shakes.
- 14:06Speaker 2: I mean, hello, pot Belly and Silverniner, tremendous loyalty programs.
- 14:12Speaker 6: Prove her wrong, she'll waits.
- 14:16Speaker 2: I think that loyalty programs are what you make of them,
- 14:19Speaker 2: and if they really do payoff, then I don't mind.
- 14:23Speaker 3: And as long as that data is not being used
- 14:26Speaker 3: against you, then I don't mind.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Like, if this starts ending up on the deep web,
- 14:30Speaker 2: there's gonna be some sort of a class action Shenanigan.
- 14:33Speaker 2: And y'all know what I'm talking about because you've seen
- 14:36Speaker 2: it in the news when loyalty programs go sideways. So
- 14:40Speaker 2: tell us what are the best loyalty programs in your opinion?
- 14:44Speaker 2: Are they worth it? Eight six six nine two, seven
- 14:46Speaker 2: forty three sixty one Give us call because we're talking
- 14:49Speaker 2: this morning. Let's talk loyalty programs. Eight six six nine
- 14:54Speaker 2: two seven forty three sixty one Toby and Chilly in
- 14:57Speaker 2: the Morning. In your opinion, what loyalalty programs would be
- 15:01Speaker 2: the best? They're totally worth it. You swear by them.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Even though you know that the company is collecting some
- 15:09Speaker 3: personal data on you to help them become a better
- 15:13Speaker 3: business for you.
- 15:15Speaker 2: And here at ninety seven point one WASCHFM with Toby
- 15:17Speaker 2: and Chilly in the Morning. We wanted to take the
- 15:20Speaker 2: pulse of these loyalty programs, the ones that really do
- 15:25Speaker 2: make a difference in your life in Boston this morning
- 15:28Speaker 2: over there near Arlington, Lacey, what's the loyalty program you
- 15:32Speaker 2: swear by?
- 15:33Speaker 7: Sephorah Beauty Insider.
- 15:35Speaker 8: If you shop at Sephora, even somewhat regularly, definitely join.
- 15:40Speaker 4: What specifically do you like about it.
- 15:42Speaker 5: The birthday parts, the points in the member events, they
- 15:46Speaker 5: add up.
- 15:46Speaker 2: I bet they do. I wonder if my daughter's in
- 15:49Speaker 2: that loyalty program, because she should be. If she's not,
- 15:52Speaker 2: you'll excuse me. I think I'm going to send her
- 15:54Speaker 2: a text right now. Thank you, Lacey. Have a great
- 15:56Speaker 2: day in Boston, Kenneth, Hello there in Damascus. Best loyalty, But.
- 16:00Speaker 8: Delta sky miles is worth it if you fly Delta
- 16:03Speaker 8: fairly often, since the miles can add up towards future
- 16:06Speaker 8: trips and upgrade.
- 16:07Speaker 4: Why is that one so great?
- 16:09Speaker 8: I like the loyalty programs where the reward feels meaningful,
- 16:12Speaker 8: and getting close to a free flight definitely does that.
- 16:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm a member of the Delta Frequent Flyer gimmick,
- 16:19Speaker 2: also the United one, but I do not have the
- 16:23Speaker 2: kind of points that you have, sir, because I stick
- 16:26Speaker 2: with Southwest and they're rapid rewards program, which is far
- 16:30Speaker 2: superior in my opinion. Okay, is there a loyalty program
- 16:35Speaker 2: you swear by?
- 16:36Speaker 6: Is it worth it? Should we go sign up for it?
- 16:39Speaker 2: What is it? Tap to talk back microphone? Leave us
- 16:41Speaker 2: a quick voice note. You'll see that microphone. It's red.
- 16:44Speaker 2: It's gotta circle around it, tap speak send and tell
- 16:47Speaker 2: us what we should join. Thank you in advance, and
- 16:50Speaker 2: by the way, you need the news. Top Stories at
- 16:52Speaker 2: the top of the hour on the way in just
- 16:53Speaker 2: a few minutes. What's going on this morning?
- 16:55Speaker 3: Researchers crunch some numbers and they came out with a
- 16:58Speaker 3: list of the most social media addicted states, and I'll
- 17:03Speaker 3: share the results in just a few.
- 17:06Speaker 6: Tickets to see Sarah Brallas.

- 21:48Speaker 3: Well, she's not happy with her upcoming travel arrangements with

- 21:57Speaker 2: Problems, a dilemma and no one else can help you,

- 22:16Speaker 2: what's on your mind at eight sixty six nine two,
- 22:18Speaker 2: seven forty three sixty one This morning, who are we
- 22:22Speaker 2: talking to?
- 22:22Speaker 3: Good morning, This is mel Mel, thanks for listening to
- 22:25Speaker 3: us in Fairfax. So what dilemma are you having with
- 22:29Speaker 3: your boyfriend? So?
- 22:31Speaker 9: Okay, I go on this yearly vacation with my boyfriend
- 22:36Speaker 9: and his family, and because you know, they travel a lot,
- 22:40Speaker 9: they've racked up like a lot of miles, like a
- 22:42Speaker 9: lot of like airline miles, and they always, you know,
- 22:45Speaker 9: turn them in for vacation and they all get first.
- 22:49Speaker 6: Class ooh boogie.
- 22:52Speaker 9: Like including my boyfriend.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Okay, so what's the issue?
- 22:56Speaker 3: Then?
- 22:56Speaker 9: I don't have like all these airline miles. So I
- 22:59Speaker 9: end up coach like most of the time by myself.
- 23:02Speaker 9: And like, don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to
- 23:04Speaker 9: be ungrateful. They pay for everything else, like when we're there,
- 23:07Speaker 9: like they hook us at you know, the hotel, the
- 23:09Speaker 9: dinners and all this nice stuff. But I just feel
- 23:12Speaker 9: so weird, and I'm like, do I say something? Do
- 23:16Speaker 9: I like ask my boyfriend to I don't know, maybe
- 23:19Speaker 9: come to coach with me or ask them to bump
- 23:21Speaker 9: me up with them. Like I'm just like, why is
- 23:23Speaker 9: this even a conversation? It feels so weird. I don't know,
- 23:27Speaker 9: I don't know what to do now.
- 23:28Speaker 2: That is a slippery slope, you know, because you don't
- 23:31Speaker 2: want to look entitled. But then again, I think you
- 23:34Speaker 2: have a point. Why are you sitting back there all
- 23:36Speaker 2: by yourself? That's snowboino, So you think she should say
- 23:39Speaker 2: something to the boyfriend?
- 23:40Speaker 3: Absolutely, see if they're paying for everything else, Mel, who
- 23:44Speaker 3: cares if you're sitting by yourself during a flight, it's
- 23:47Speaker 3: just a few hours.
- 23:48Speaker 4: The rest of the trip is on their dime. Hello.
- 23:50Speaker 9: Yeah, Like I'm not a gold digger or something, but
- 23:52Speaker 9: it's like you're paying for this stuff, Like maybe just
- 23:54Speaker 9: do that too, or can someone take turns like being
- 23:57Speaker 9: with me and coach?
- 23:59Speaker 2: That's a fair It's clear you have some feelings, and
- 24:02Speaker 2: I know some people that might have some opinions they
- 24:04Speaker 2: might want to share with you, And if you don't mind,
- 24:07Speaker 2: we'll bring them into the conversation at eight sixty six
- 24:10Speaker 2: ninety two, seven forty three sixty one and maybe we
- 24:12Speaker 2: can help you through this.
- 24:13Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, let me know what to do.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Just hang out for a few minutes and maybe they
- 24:18Speaker 3: can help you make this decision.
- 24:19Speaker 6: In the meantime, we got the news coming up.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Top stories at the top of the hour, Chilli, what
- 24:24Speaker 2: can we expect this morning.
- 24:25Speaker 3: How far would you be willing to drive before you
- 24:29Speaker 3: would decide to fly somewhere instead. I'll be sharing the
- 24:32Speaker 3: results of a survey coming up in just a few
- 24:35Speaker 3: You know.
- 24:36Speaker 2: There's a big kite festivout in Leesburg on Saturday, and
- 24:40Speaker 2: here's something that will make it sound even better as
- 24:44Speaker 2: you drive out.
- 24:45Speaker 3: Our best of the eighties and nineties weekend. It all
- 24:48Speaker 3: kicks off Friday at five pm and goes all through
- 24:51Speaker 3: the weekend.
- 24:52Speaker 2: It's ninety seven point one wash FM till Tilly in
- 24:54Speaker 2: the Morning and then Riquet.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Ninety seven point one WASHFM, Washington heart radio stations coming
- 25:02Speaker 1: up on Top Stories Top of the Hour.
- 25:04Speaker 3: The Treasury Department says that the national debt has topped
- 25:08Speaker 3: forty trillion dollars. We've got the latest on that story
- 25:11Speaker 3: and others on the way with Toby and Chilly in
- 25:14Speaker 3: the morning. A ninety seven point one wash FM.
- 25:20Speaker 7: Top Stories Top of the Hour.
- 25:22Speaker 3: The Treasury Department says the national debt has now topped
- 25:26Speaker 3: forty trillion dollars, arriving sooner than analysts expected, partly because
- 25:31Speaker 3: the courts struck down some of the President's tariffs, cutting
- 25:34Speaker 3: into revenue that the government had counted on. One person
- 25:37Speaker 3: has died and another badly hurt after a possible house
- 25:41Speaker 3: explosion in Annapolis yesterday. Fire officials say a two story
- 25:45Speaker 3: home partially collapse, and investigators are now looking into whether
- 25:48Speaker 3: a pro pane delivery that was made just before that
- 25:52Speaker 3: blast played a role. Congressional Democrats are launching an investigation
- 25:57Speaker 3: into ice enforcement in northern Virginia after an agent pointed
- 26:01Speaker 3: a gun at a Louden County woman during a traffic
- 26:03Speaker 3: stop in Bailey's Crossroads. Lawmakers want the agents involved pulled
- 26:07Speaker 3: from duty pending review. So more road closures are coming
- 26:11Speaker 3: ahead of this weekend's DC ind Car event. The Park Services,
- 26:16Speaker 3: the Arlington More Memorial Bridge, Memorial Circle, and Memorial Avenue
- 26:20Speaker 3: are going to be seeing intermit enclosures today between ten
- 26:24Speaker 3: am and noon, along with Lincoln Memorial Circle and the
- 26:28Speaker 3: ramp to Ohio Drive. And finally, Americans say they're willing
- 26:32Speaker 3: to drive nearly nine and a half hours before deciding
- 26:36Speaker 3: to fly to their destination instead, although that cut off
- 26:40Speaker 3: swings by more than six hours depending on which state
- 26:43Speaker 3: you live in. Airfare delays in traveling with kids or
- 26:46Speaker 3: pets makes driving more appealing, while gas prices and traffic
- 26:52Speaker 3: push people toward the airport for flying. Forecast for today
- 26:57Speaker 3: cloudy skies, We do you have a chance of some
- 26:59Speaker 3: severe storms this afternoon with highs in the upper eighties.
- 27:03Speaker 3: Right now seventy five into come apart, and that's.
- 27:05Speaker 2: The news with Toby and Tilly in the Morning, gave
- 27:07Speaker 2: top stories at the top of the hour. If you're
- 27:09Speaker 2: sitting in traffic, or if you're sitting in the parking
- 27:12Speaker 2: garage at work, hang out in the car for a
- 27:14Speaker 2: few Why Mel hit us up a little bit ago.
- 27:17Speaker 2: She does not like the idea of having to sit
- 27:21Speaker 2: in coach while her boyfriend and the family upgrade their
- 27:24Speaker 2: flights to first class. Now is she right on this,
- 27:30Speaker 2: wrong about her feelings on this? What should she do?
- 27:33Speaker 2: You've got thoughts and we'll get to hear them in
- 27:35Speaker 2: a few helping you overcome issues when they come up
- 27:39Speaker 2: in your life. For Toby and Tilly in the Morning,
- 27:41Speaker 2: it's ninety seven point one watch FM and Mel had
- 27:44Speaker 2: a little bit of a problem with something.
- 27:47Speaker 3: She lives in Fairfax and her boyfriend's family is paying
- 27:50Speaker 3: for this great trip and they do this every time,
- 27:54Speaker 3: treat her and the boyfriend. Problem is they upgrade their
- 27:57Speaker 3: seats using points to first class, while mal pays her
- 28:02Speaker 3: own way and sits in coach right.
- 28:04Speaker 2: And the boyfriend, you would think, would you know, sacrifice
- 28:08Speaker 2: his seat in first to go be with his significant other,
- 28:10Speaker 2: But apparently that doesn't happen, and.
- 28:12Speaker 3: She wants to know whether she should bring this up
- 28:14Speaker 3: to the boyfriend or is she crazy for thinking this
- 28:17Speaker 3: is an issue?
- 28:18Speaker 6: Alicia and for Washington thoughts.
- 28:21Speaker 10: That it's very telling, especially if they haven't been together
- 28:25Speaker 10: for years.
- 28:26Speaker 2: This is a little foreshadowing.
- 28:28Speaker 4: You mean like they'll continue to exclude her from.
- 28:31Speaker 9: Some things, basically because if she's the only one they
- 28:35Speaker 9: everybody got upgraded except for her.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like.
- 28:39Speaker 9: They're trying to send a message as well.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Well. It just stinks on a whole host of levels. Alicia,
- 28:44Speaker 2: thank you so much for calling us this morning. Thank you,
- 28:48Speaker 2: and now let's shoot over to Andy. Thanks for listening
- 28:50Speaker 2: in Stafford this morning.
- 28:51Speaker 4: You've got a different approach to all this.
- 28:54Speaker 10: My advice for her would be to when you get
- 28:57Speaker 10: to the kiosk to check in accidentally, this is their quote,
- 29:03Speaker 10: bump your ticket up to first class. It'll just charge
- 29:05Speaker 10: it to their card. Anyway, We're weare.
- 29:07Speaker 3: Will Well, that's very shady, but you should know she's
- 29:11Speaker 3: paying her own way, which is why she's sitting in
- 29:14Speaker 3: coach to begin with.
- 29:15Speaker 10: Yeah, and they just played dumb dude.
- 29:17Speaker 2: You realize you're proposing theft by credit card. That's not okay?
- 29:20Speaker 10: We like Oh really, Oh I thought you guys got
- 29:23Speaker 10: me first class too. It's it's full proof.
- 29:26Speaker 3: I would not say it's foolproof. I think it's foolish.
- 29:29Speaker 3: But thank you for your thoughts this morning.
- 29:32Speaker 10: You got it, see Andy.
- 29:34Speaker 6: Back to Mel, Mel, thanks for hanging on.
- 29:36Speaker 2: It looks like well, one side of the equation says
- 29:40Speaker 2: this is a bad omen. The other side is proposing theft.
- 29:44Speaker 4: Oh god, oh no, So what are you gonna do?
- 29:47Speaker 10: I gotta address it.
- 29:48Speaker 9: I'm gonna address it head on because if it is
- 29:50Speaker 9: a red flag I need to know now so I
- 29:52Speaker 9: don't bring myself along any anymore.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Well, good luck, Mel and best wishes as you fly
- 29:58Speaker 2: the friendly Skies.
