- 1:29Speaker 2: Don Bacon.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Good morning, good morning.
- 1:31Speaker 4: It's going to be with you well.
- 1:32Speaker 2: And glad, glad you're here, and glad you're here in
- 1:34Speaker 2: the studio. It seems like most of the time you're
- 1:36Speaker 2: running around like a crazy person in DC and coming
- 1:39Speaker 2: back and forth.
- 1:40Speaker 1: But today he is in the studio.
- 1:42Speaker 2: And I also want to tell our listeners if you
- 1:44Speaker 2: with our conversation, If you have questions for Don Bacon,
- 1:47Speaker 2: please call in or email your questions in and we'll
- 1:50Speaker 2: try to get Congressman Bacon to answer those while he's
- 1:53Speaker 2: here today.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Right, We're going to keep you here.
- 1:55Speaker 2: As long as we possibly can keep you ready, But
- 1:57Speaker 2: there is so much going on that we can talk about. Boy,
- 2:02Speaker 2: just even listening to the news last night when we
- 2:05Speaker 2: talk about a lot of these elections that are happening
- 2:08Speaker 2: all over the country.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Lots to talk about.
- 2:11Speaker 2: But you know what, first, I want to talk about
- 2:13Speaker 2: you a little bit because I think everybody knows that
- 2:16Speaker 2: you have been a representative for Congressional District two since
- 2:21Speaker 2: twenty seventeen, so congressional terms two years. You are always
- 2:27Speaker 2: campaigning that you have won five elections, so you have
- 2:30Speaker 2: been a congressman for ten years.
- 2:32Speaker 4: You got it, And I think that's sort of what
- 2:34Speaker 4: did me in Every two year election cycles just takes.
- 2:37Speaker 1: A toll that would be terrible.
- 2:40Speaker 4: So you know, we have an election, you know, like
- 2:41Speaker 4: first week of November, and then by January you already
- 2:44Speaker 4: have to start campaigning and raising money.
- 2:46Speaker 1: And that means a constant campaign office toll.
- 2:49Speaker 4: Yes, I finally just said I I lost my appetite
- 2:52Speaker 4: for try to do this a sixth time. We better
- 2:55Speaker 4: have somebody else that's hungry and wants to do it.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Absolutely, And you know I said that about not being
- 2:59Speaker 2: made anymore. I love doing it, and I'm sure you
- 3:02Speaker 2: like doing being a you know, our congressman. But I said,
- 3:05Speaker 2: I don't want to ask for another penny or knocking
- 3:07Speaker 2: another door the rest of my life.
- 3:10Speaker 1: I've done that enough.
- 3:11Speaker 2: But before that, Congressman, you had a very notable career
- 3:15Speaker 2: in the military. You retired from the US Air Force
- 3:19Speaker 2: as a brigadier general and you served I believe almost
- 3:22Speaker 2: thirty years.
- 3:23Speaker 4: It was like twenty nine years, seven months, two weeks
- 3:26Speaker 4: or something like that.
- 3:27Speaker 1: But who's counting, right, But I liked it.
- 3:29Speaker 2: But talk about that because I believe you commanded a
- 3:32Speaker 2: wing in Germany, and you commanded the fifty fifth wing
- 3:35Speaker 2: right here at office.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Those are that little.
- 3:37Speaker 4: Those are two of my favorite jobs of all time.
- 3:39Speaker 4: I still got to be the base commander at Ramstein.
- 3:41Speaker 4: It was sort of the mayor of fifty five thousand people.
- 3:44Speaker 4: The biggest challenge I had there was I also was
- 3:48Speaker 4: like the landlord for five headquarters with generals there, so
- 3:51Speaker 4: I was sort of having a work with all of
- 3:53Speaker 4: the different headquarters that ran all of Europe's military was
- 3:57Speaker 4: on that base. But I was the mayor of it.
- 3:59Speaker 4: And when I inherited that base, we had the highest
- 4:03Speaker 4: UI rate, highest sexual assault rate. So I had to
- 4:05Speaker 4: fix all that stuff and we did, and so I
- 4:08Speaker 4: ended up making general out of that job, and they
- 4:10Speaker 4: came to off it. And I love being an office commander.
- 4:13Speaker 4: It was four times in the fifty fifth winning and
- 4:15Speaker 4: I felt so prepared to do it, and I really
- 4:18Speaker 4: it was my dream job to be the fifty fifth
- 4:20Speaker 4: winning commander commanded eight thousand people. There was ten thousand
- 4:23Speaker 4: folks on Base Lo because you have strat Com and
- 4:25Speaker 4: the weather wing and other stuff. And I still when
- 4:27Speaker 4: I go on Bass on base twice this past couple
- 4:30Speaker 4: of weeks, it feels like home.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Quite a huge job, isn't it. And once you were
- 4:35Speaker 2: elected to Congress, you were very, very vocal, a very
- 4:40Speaker 2: vocal advocate of national security and also conservative values.
- 4:44Speaker 4: You know, it's really with my hobby. National security is
- 4:46Speaker 4: what I love. When I go to the meetings at
- 4:48Speaker 4: the Armed Services Committee, it's not work. I feel like
- 4:50Speaker 4: I'm on my playground. I'm just having fun because I'm
- 4:53Speaker 4: hearing about China, I'm hearing about Iran, I'm hearing about Russia,
- 4:55Speaker 4: hearing about what kind of military weapons we need to buy,
- 4:57Speaker 4: what's working, what's not working, And it's that's what I
- 5:00Speaker 4: like doing. And it's just get a job that you
- 5:03Speaker 4: love because that part I love. Now there's other parts
- 5:06Speaker 4: of the congressional job it's not so much fun, but
- 5:08Speaker 4: I did love the national security aspects to it.
- 5:11Speaker 2: And during your tenure as a congressman, you focused on
- 5:14Speaker 2: some other issues I think that we could highlight, and
- 5:18Speaker 2: that is healthcare reform and of course agriculture too besides defense.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Now, what I came in Ben SaaS was leaving the
- 5:25Speaker 4: AD Committee in the Senate, so we were gonna have
- 5:27Speaker 4: nobody on the AD committees in the House or Senate
- 5:29Speaker 4: from Nebraska. So I thought I better do it. And
- 5:31Speaker 4: even though Omaha's not a huge you know, like farming
- 5:34Speaker 4: or ranching, we're huge on agribusiness. And even the First
- 5:38Speaker 4: National Bank will tell you the number one lending is
- 5:41Speaker 4: to agriculture, right, So even everything about Omaha is still
- 5:44Speaker 4: connected to the agriculture economy. So I did that. You know. Also,
- 5:48Speaker 4: it's the Foster Care Caucus chair We adopted you know,
- 5:52Speaker 4: two children, my wife and I, so I have an
- 5:54Speaker 4: interest in that. I was the Baltic Security chairman partly
- 5:58Speaker 4: because my NATO experience, and I did also traumatic brain
- 6:02Speaker 4: injury of firsts because of my military experience there. We
- 6:05Speaker 4: made some huge strides. So I tried to find some
- 6:07Speaker 4: things that I knew a little bit about, uh from before
- 6:09Speaker 4: I got into Congress in and then try to take
- 6:12Speaker 4: some leadership roles in those areas.
- 6:15Speaker 1: You think you're gonna miss it, well, I'm going to
- 6:16Speaker 1: miss parts of it.
- 6:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I'm gonna I love working national security stuff,
- 6:22Speaker 4: but I hope I can still, you know, help the
- 6:24Speaker 4: God opens up doors for me in different ways. I
- 6:26Speaker 4: can serve in different capacities. I don't miss the dysfunction.
- 6:31Speaker 4: I mean, both parties are dysfunctional right now. We can't
- 6:34Speaker 4: even pass rules, votes to vote on something right, and
- 6:39Speaker 4: and there's there's just so much division and the folks
- 6:41Speaker 4: undercutting the speaker. And I just that part I won't
- 6:46Speaker 4: won't miss. And it's an ugly environment.
- 6:48Speaker 1: You know, and people definitely is to people.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Have no problem just saying that. Just the worst stuff
- 6:55Speaker 4: to other people. And it's just a I had protesters
- 6:57Speaker 4: in my house a couple of times. My wife goes,
- 6:59Speaker 4: you know, don we're going to find those spot where
- 7:01Speaker 4: we've got more privacy, and my god, what we did.
- 7:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I've never seen it is rough.
- 7:05Speaker 2: I would I'll use that word as it is right
- 7:08Speaker 2: now I think social media has made politics really take
- 7:11Speaker 2: a turn for the worse. You have a lot of trolls,
- 7:14Speaker 2: you have a lot of people commenting. You know, in
- 7:17Speaker 2: my last year as mayor, we might put a positive
- 7:21Speaker 2: story up and get eight hundred one thousand comments on
- 7:25Speaker 2: one story, and they were I would say ninety percent
- 7:28Speaker 2: were negative. And you know a lot of the people
- 7:30Speaker 2: that were saying things weren't even real people. It's just
- 7:33Speaker 2: taken such a term. And you know, both you and
- 7:36Speaker 2: I are Republican, and I believe we both consider ourselves
- 7:40Speaker 2: that term Reagan Republicans because I was raised Yeah, and
- 7:44Speaker 2: we believe in the tenets of the Republican Party, which
- 7:47Speaker 2: is limited government, you know, individual rights, smaller government, free market,
- 7:51Speaker 2: free enterprise. We oppose excessive regulation, strong national defense, which
- 7:57Speaker 2: you have already talked about. Traditional values. We're pro life,
- 8:00Speaker 2: family values, and personal responsibility, meaning less government, more self reliance,
- 8:06Speaker 2: less government programs. We both feel that way, and I
- 8:10Speaker 2: know we do because we've talked about it many, many times.
- 8:12Speaker 2: But at the same time, you and I both have
- 8:15Speaker 2: been labeled off and on with that term you're a
- 8:18Speaker 2: rhino because you're not right enough.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Does that just irritate you to death.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Oh a little bit. I think it's ironica. So I
- 8:26Speaker 4: haven't changed my views. I was most folks, I was
- 8:29Speaker 4: very conservative ten years ago because I was a Ronald
- 8:31Speaker 4: Reagan and I believed it in my heart his principles.
- 8:34Speaker 4: But frankly, you know, under a President Trump, he has
- 8:37Speaker 4: some of Reagan's views, some mom he doesn't like. Ronald
- 8:40Speaker 4: Reagan was anti terriffs. You would have been stronger against Russia,
- 8:43Speaker 4: for example. So but if you don't embrace the president's
- 8:47Speaker 4: line right now than your rhino. But actually, I'm the
- 8:50Speaker 4: old school Republican that hasn't changed, and I don't apologize
- 8:54Speaker 4: for it. No, it's who I am. And by the way,
- 8:56Speaker 4: that wins in this district. If you find out the
- 8:59Speaker 4: new brand of Republicanism does not win a district two.
- 9:02Speaker 4: In fact, if you look at polling right now, it's
- 9:05Speaker 4: very much underwater. But if you're an old fashioned Republican,
- 9:07Speaker 4: you win in this district, Romney one in this district
- 9:10Speaker 4: right and you have twelve years tracial Republicanism, you can
- 9:14Speaker 4: take fifty two to fifty five percent of a vote
- 9:16Speaker 4: in this district and win.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Now your races you have always won by one two
- 9:22Speaker 2: percent on one to five percent. So we're going to
- 9:25Speaker 2: get into the Congressional District two race in just a second.
- 9:29Speaker 2: But now when we talk about how things have changed,
- 9:31Speaker 2: you know, I always said when I was mayor that
- 9:33Speaker 2: I represent everybody, whether you're Democrat, Republican or independent. That
- 9:37Speaker 2: aggravated a lot of Republicans. You know, they wanted me
- 9:40Speaker 2: to say I am against every Democrat there is, which
- 9:43Speaker 2: I am not. There are a lot of good Democrats
- 9:45Speaker 2: in this district, and there's a lot of good Democrat
- 9:47Speaker 2: leaders out there. However, it seems like the new movement
- 9:51Speaker 2: with the Democrat Party is it seems like their agenda
- 9:54Speaker 2: is about three things.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Get rid of Trump, get rid of Ice, get rid
- 9:57Speaker 1: of the police.
- 9:58Speaker 2: And they are getting more more and more to the left,
- 10:01Speaker 2: more and more socialists. When I see congressmen, some of
- 10:06Speaker 2: these candidates, especially I'll pick New York that are being
- 10:11Speaker 2: elected and winning primaries and being elected, and there are
- 10:15Speaker 2: some all over the country that are winning primaries. The
- 10:17Speaker 2: socialists or communists that are beating really good Democrat incumbents
- 10:23Speaker 2: that have.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Done a pretty darn good job. They're winning.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Now, this is scary, and this is what really I
- 10:29Speaker 2: want you to talk a bit about that, because especially
- 10:32Speaker 2: the DSA to the Democrat Socialist of America, what we
- 10:36Speaker 2: are hearing is frightening. And the other day when what's
- 10:41Speaker 2: his name, Abduell, doctor Abduell lsied got elected by one
- 10:46Speaker 2: percent for senator in Michigan, Holy cow, what are we doing?
- 10:52Speaker 4: I don't know how this works. They say they're gonna
- 10:54Speaker 4: get rid of prisons. We got to do with felons, rapists,
- 10:58Speaker 4: and murders. I don't living on a different planet that
- 11:01Speaker 4: they're not. We're just we're just gonna of reality. But
- 11:06Speaker 4: they're going to get rid of the Senate. No borders,
- 11:09Speaker 4: no ice, no police, no prisons. That's that's in the
- 11:12Speaker 4: DSA platform. Really, it's an anti American, it's an anti
- 11:16Speaker 4: constitution that's gonna put.
- 11:17Speaker 1: They want to get rid of the constitution.
- 11:19Speaker 4: And they're pulling the whole party to the loft. Even
- 11:22Speaker 4: the nominees you see in Omaha, which are they're not Bernie's.
- 11:25Speaker 4: This district does not like the Bernie Sanders Democrats. They're
- 11:27Speaker 4: very hard to elect. But they're pulling the whole party
- 11:30Speaker 4: and the Democrat Party in Omaha area to the Bernie
- 11:32Speaker 4: Anders area, which you know for Republicans that that that
- 11:37Speaker 4: gives us hope in the elections because they're going too
- 11:39Speaker 4: far aloft. If we if we can run normal traditionary Republicans,
- 11:45Speaker 4: you you can still win here as the Democrat Party
- 11:47Speaker 4: keeps going to the loft.
- 11:49Speaker 2: This is Congressman Don Bacon with us in this studio today. Well,
- 11:52Speaker 2: I was watching chef who they call Chef Hong last night,
- 11:56Speaker 2: Francesca Hong, who looks like she might the Democrat nominee
- 12:01Speaker 2: for governor in Wisconsin. Oh my goodness. Now that is
- 12:05Speaker 2: something that we really should talk about, because she was
- 12:09Speaker 2: some of the things she was saying, like when she
- 12:11Speaker 2: said we should get rid of Thanksgiving and then she
- 12:14Speaker 2: flipped on that no, I like Thanksgiving. I think when
- 12:17Speaker 2: I was listening to her talk, I mean, I thought,
- 12:20Speaker 2: what in the world is happening in her campaign manager?
- 12:23Speaker 2: Apparently her deputy campaign manager is a porn star and
- 12:27Speaker 2: has been in Penthouse magazine.
- 12:29Speaker 1: This is who might win the nomination.
- 12:32Speaker 4: Holy cow, I overhear saying what's wrong with that?
- 12:35Speaker 1: I know, I know Scott's over here with his eyes
- 12:37Speaker 1: are bugging out of his head. But this is true.
- 12:39Speaker 2: And if you heard Francesca Hong talk. She could very
- 12:43Speaker 2: well be the Democrat nominee for governor of Wisconsin.
- 12:47Speaker 4: So in normal elections, the Republicans should have no problem
- 12:50Speaker 4: beaten lsiad this lady from Wisconsin. The issue that's scares
- 12:57Speaker 4: us right now Prisident Trump's sitting around thirty five percent,
- 13:00Speaker 4: So that's going to give some opportunity for some of
- 13:02Speaker 4: these crazies to get their foot in the door. But
- 13:05Speaker 4: in a normal election, these folks have no chance. But
- 13:08Speaker 4: I don't think we should take it for granted. We're
- 13:09Speaker 4: gonna have to work doubly hard. In Michigan. We cannot
- 13:12Speaker 4: let this guy be a US Senator. We can't have
- 13:14Speaker 4: a governor that's a nut case from Wisconsin, and so
- 13:17Speaker 4: we're gonna have to We cannot take it for granted.
- 13:19Speaker 4: We're gonna have to work doubly hard, and we've got
- 13:22Speaker 4: to contrast ourselves with the craziness and talk about where
- 13:25Speaker 4: we stand too. It can't just be about the other guy.
- 13:27Speaker 4: But these folks should have no chance to win. But
- 13:31Speaker 4: yet I think this election cycle it's up in the air.
- 13:33Speaker 4: We gotta be careful.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Look at I can't remember her first name, Chevalier in
- 13:38Speaker 2: New York with the white glasses. Some of the things
- 13:41Speaker 2: she said when she said the other day that I
- 13:43Speaker 2: left a restaurant and I couldn't find a napkin to
- 13:46Speaker 2: wipe my dirty hands, so I wiped it on the
- 13:48Speaker 2: American flag.
- 13:49Speaker 4: Such they hate our country.
- 13:50Speaker 2: They hate our country, and they are winning primaries and
- 13:53Speaker 2: they're all standing up.
- 13:54Speaker 4: We're the greatest country in the world with the freedoms,
- 13:57Speaker 4: the strongest economy in the world, and they hate it.
- 13:59Speaker 2: It's they I think these candidates are dangerous, and I
- 14:04Speaker 2: think we got to go back to what we originally
- 14:07Speaker 2: did with campaigns and said, what are you people offering us?
- 14:11Speaker 2: What do you watch it? What are you offering the
- 14:12Speaker 2: American people? You know, midterms elections seem like they're all
- 14:16Speaker 2: about enthusiasm, and this is another thing I wanted to
- 14:20Speaker 2: get to. What what can we do with Republicans to
- 14:24Speaker 2: get our Republican base enthused again. The last the primary
- 14:29Speaker 2: that we had in May, the voter turnout was twenty
- 14:31Speaker 2: six percent in Douglas County. My last election, it was
- 14:35Speaker 2: twenty seven percent for the general. A lot of people
- 14:39Speaker 2: are just so frustrated with what they hear on the
- 14:41Speaker 2: news and with these candidates say just stay home. How
- 14:45Speaker 2: can we get our party activated again and get out
- 14:49Speaker 2: there and vote? Because you know, if we are saying
- 14:52Speaker 2: we want every voice heard, they're not being heard if
- 14:55Speaker 2: twenty six percent of the people come out and.
- 14:57Speaker 4: Vote, and it's normally the angry folks who turn out,
- 15:00Speaker 4: situation are the ones who are most angry at the incumbent.
- 15:03Speaker 4: So at twenty six percent, turnus what we had in
- 15:05Speaker 4: my last primary that I ran, you get you. It
- 15:08Speaker 4: tilts the election in a certain way and it's not healthy.
- 15:11Speaker 4: And yet we knew pulling pulling, we pulled, and we
- 15:15Speaker 4: assumed in the last primary I was in that we
- 15:17Speaker 4: have a thirty three percent turnout. And at a thirty
- 15:19Speaker 4: three percent turnout, we knew we get seventy percent in
- 15:22Speaker 4: the primary. But for every percent it goes down, my
- 15:25Speaker 4: number is going to go down. So we got twenty
- 15:27Speaker 4: six percent. I ended up wunning with sixty two or
- 15:29Speaker 4: sixty four, but still that's what that But a lower
- 15:32Speaker 4: turnout affects the results. And I think the best way
- 15:36Speaker 4: to enthuse our voters is we got to talk about
- 15:40Speaker 4: the DSA platform. Yes, and you know, let's be honest,
- 15:44Speaker 4: it's tilted the candidates, and the Democratic candidates in Nebraska
- 15:47Speaker 4: have gone left, and even the so called independence are
- 15:50Speaker 4: not independence there fake, but they're also embracing a lot
- 15:53Speaker 4: of the fire left messages. And so the DSA has
- 15:57Speaker 4: pulled the Democrats all the way over and we cannot
- 16:00Speaker 4: and that's what that will choose our voters, because if
- 16:02Speaker 4: you talk about the things that you know, we're gonna
- 16:05Speaker 4: have no prisons, right, no.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Open borders, no prisons, no police right.
- 16:10Speaker 4: It's crazy.
- 16:10Speaker 2: No, no, it's yes. I don't understand it. It's baffling.
- 16:14Speaker 2: And as of July twenty twenty six, it was estimated
- 16:18Speaker 2: that there's about one hundred and twenty thousand members of
- 16:20Speaker 2: the DSA, the Democrat Socialist of America.
- 16:23Speaker 1: That's that's that's worrisome.
- 16:25Speaker 2: And then when, like I said, you hear these these
- 16:27Speaker 2: candidates like doctor l Sayed, who by the way, went
- 16:30Speaker 2: to medical school but never took his boards, I something
- 16:34Speaker 2: is wrong right there. I mean, he's very eloquent, well spoken,
- 16:37Speaker 2: and but Francesca Hong is one that really really throws me.
- 16:42Speaker 4: In Colorado, now we have them, it's really propping up
- 16:45Speaker 4: all over the place.
- 16:47Speaker 1: And then you have this Hassan Piker.
- 16:50Speaker 2: Holy, okay, I mean he's got he's he's about thirty
- 16:52Speaker 2: five years old, very very young. They say he's worth
- 16:55Speaker 2: about eight million dollars and he identifies himself as a
- 17:00Speaker 2: whitch streamer, an influencer, and a left wing political commentator.
- 17:05Speaker 4: Is he in a fairy porn?
- 17:06Speaker 1: Yeah, well let's get.
- 17:07Speaker 2: To that, because you know, here we let's talk about
- 17:10Speaker 2: your position. Is it's Scott still is rolling his eyes
- 17:13Speaker 2: over there. I'm not even I'm not even looking at
- 17:17Speaker 2: Scott to get through this interview right now today, but
- 17:19Speaker 2: I want to.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Talk about Fauci.
- 17:21Speaker 2: But I want to get to the congressional district to
- 17:24Speaker 2: race right now too. You know, the two that made
- 17:27Speaker 2: it through the primary or Brinker Harding is a Republican
- 17:30Speaker 2: and Denise Powell, who, by the way, I have asked
- 17:32Speaker 2: several times if she would be on my show, and
- 17:34Speaker 2: we get the cricket treatment nothing.
- 17:37Speaker 4: So I come, Zacharie, ask her what is fairy porn?
- 17:40Speaker 4: Because she said you like fairy porn? I don't know
- 17:42Speaker 4: what that is.
- 17:43Speaker 2: I you know what, honest to god, I mean, call
- 17:46Speaker 2: me naive, but when I heard that, she said, I
- 17:48Speaker 2: am into fairy porn. I had asked my daughter, I go,
- 17:51Speaker 2: what am I stupid? But what is fairy porn?
- 17:53Speaker 1: I didn't know.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Some one gave me an explanation. I still don't get it.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Or she called it very smut, I think, but apparently
- 17:59Speaker 2: there's books that. But Denise Powell was quoted in saying,
- 18:03Speaker 2: I'm really into very smut now, And that's how I
- 18:07Speaker 2: calm myself down talking about Donald Trump.
- 18:10Speaker 4: Scott's on Amazon right now.
- 18:12Speaker 2: He's got a book over there that he's looking at.
- 18:15Speaker 2: But you know, here's okay, So here's this race very important.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Who's going to be your successor? Denise introduced herself to
- 18:24Speaker 2: us by calling herself in a commercial, I'm just a
- 18:27Speaker 2: pod mom. That's how she first introduced herself.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Now, when you.
- 18:31Speaker 2: Read things, she is been the leader and the champion
- 18:36Speaker 2: and everything to everybody in this whole area for years now.
- 18:42Speaker 2: I never heard of her. I mean I was out
- 18:44Speaker 2: there attending things. I worked with nonprofits. I know that
- 18:49Speaker 2: she was involved in Women Who Run and I always
- 18:52Speaker 2: thought that was baffling. I learned that later because she
- 18:55Speaker 2: never ran for anything. It's just for you now, yeah, yeah,
- 18:58Speaker 2: I know. No, Well, I I was the wrong political
- 19:01Speaker 2: party because women who run usually are are are Democrats
- 19:04Speaker 2: are usually more liberal. But you know, now she is
- 19:08Speaker 2: the leader, self proclaimed leader in everything. I just the
- 19:12Speaker 2: other day she posted something on her Facebook saying, Denise
- 19:15Speaker 2: Palell is the champion to lower your energy cost? What
- 19:20Speaker 2: are you going to do, Denise Powell to lower energy cost?
- 19:23Speaker 2: At least what I would read about brinker Harding. He says,
- 19:26Speaker 2: here is what I want to do for you, and
- 19:28Speaker 2: here is how I'm going to do it, not just
- 19:31Speaker 2: throwing things out over and over to confuse things. And
- 19:34Speaker 2: you know, we'll talk about this in just a second,
- 19:37Speaker 2: but I will go back when we were talking how
- 19:39Speaker 2: do we get the Republicans energized and activated? You were
- 19:43Speaker 2: at the same event. I was with Speaker Mike Johnson,
- 19:46Speaker 2: and I asked the same question to Speaker Johnson, and
- 19:49Speaker 2: he said, people vote out of fear and out of anger,
- 19:53Speaker 2: and you just said that. You said it's more out
- 19:55Speaker 2: of anger now. But I mean, h and we low
- 20:00Speaker 2: the low voter turnout, and I think we really need
- 20:03Speaker 2: to get both sides really energized. The true Democrats, not
- 20:07Speaker 2: the socialists or the communists, but the two Democrats, the
- 20:10Speaker 2: two Republicans, get them energizing, get them out, because this
- 20:13Speaker 2: means a lot. Now the blue dot that Denise pal
- 20:16Speaker 2: says that she is going to fight for the blue dot.
- 20:19Speaker 2: This is confusing to me too, because the blue dot
- 20:22Speaker 2: are being blue or red. Used to just be signify
- 20:25Speaker 2: whether you are heavy Republican or heavy Democrat. That's about it.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Now it's the symbol of the Democrat Party. It seems
- 20:32Speaker 2: the blue dot.
- 20:33Speaker 1: We have to.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Maintain this blue dot. It means what their agenda is.
- 20:38Speaker 2: The maintaining the blue dot means all of these things
- 20:41Speaker 2: that they say they stand for. Now, it's it's very
- 20:44Speaker 2: confusing to me that somebody like Denise Powell, and again
- 20:48Speaker 2: she won the Trimement primary by absolutely trashing Senator Kavanaugh.
- 20:54Speaker 4: Yeah, five million dollars.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Worth absolutely, with a lot of money coming from out
- 20:58Speaker 2: of state. John Cavan was one of those Democrats that
- 21:01Speaker 2: I mean, I really like the guy. He's very personable,
- 21:04Speaker 2: he's very personable, and he loves Omaha, he loves our district.
- 21:08Speaker 2: He would have been a very strong, strong candidate. And
- 21:12Speaker 2: you know Mary Barrett that was a lifelong Democrat, has
- 21:17Speaker 2: been on this show twice right now, I know when
- 21:19Speaker 2: she left the Democrat Party. She came in and worked
- 21:21Speaker 2: for you. She's not a Republican, she is an independent.
- 21:24Speaker 2: But I mean talk about angry about what Denise Powell
- 21:29Speaker 2: did to John Cavanaugh. I know a lot of diehard
- 21:32Speaker 2: Republicans that are that I'm friends with, and they have
- 21:36Speaker 2: not come around to support her because they said, me
- 21:39Speaker 2: and all my friends are for John Cavanaugh, and look
- 21:41Speaker 2: what she did to get elected.
- 21:43Speaker 4: I've ran into him too. They're not going to vote
- 21:46Speaker 4: or they're voting for Brinker. But so we're not going
- 21:48Speaker 4: to vote for that part of the ticket, and that's
- 21:50Speaker 4: out of anger. There is an anger there. You know,
- 21:53Speaker 4: this could be a tough race way I see it.
- 21:54Speaker 4: I mean, Brinker does have I think speaks to the
- 21:58Speaker 4: normies of our He's a pragmatic Republican. President Trump is
- 22:03Speaker 4: underwater here that that's probably to her Denise's advantage. You
- 22:07Speaker 4: got the DSA stuff though going on. That's that's gonna
- 22:10Speaker 4: wake people are going to vote for for Brinker, but
- 22:14Speaker 4: it's gonna be a tough election and we're just gonna
- 22:15Speaker 4: to outwork on the other side. And to your point,
- 22:18Speaker 4: she has a lot of empty sayings, I mean, just buzzwords,
- 22:22Speaker 4: but there's nothing behind it. I felt the same way
- 22:24Speaker 4: with Tony and Carr before that, a lot of blanket
- 22:27Speaker 4: statements that had no meat behind it, and debates you
- 22:30Speaker 4: got to push on that, what do you mean by that?
- 22:32Speaker 2: Right?
- 22:32Speaker 4: And for someone to because there's nothing behind it.
- 22:34Speaker 2: I would love to see them in a debate because
- 22:37Speaker 2: you know, even some of her posts are are meant
- 22:40Speaker 2: to be misleading, and they are. After National Night Out,
- 22:43Speaker 2: she posted a post and she said with the Omaha
- 22:45Speaker 2: Police Department, the Omaha Sheriff's Department pace. I mean, she
- 22:49Speaker 2: named everybody she could possibly name in a picture with
- 22:51Speaker 2: her with a few officers. But you know, she wants
- 22:55Speaker 2: people to believe that they are there supporting her, but
- 22:58Speaker 2: they haven't come out and said they're supporting her yet.
- 23:00Speaker 2: I don't think they've even done their endorsements yet. And
- 23:03Speaker 2: then when you think of some of the things that
- 23:04Speaker 2: she does come out with. Another example is a video
- 23:08Speaker 2: she posted after speaker Mike Johnson was here a few
- 23:11Speaker 2: weeks ago, and in her video she said there were
- 23:13Speaker 2: five people there, Denise, you weren't there. I was, and
- 23:18Speaker 2: there were a lot more than five people there. When
- 23:21Speaker 2: they were in wheat fields.
- 23:22Speaker 1: It was packed.
- 23:22Speaker 2: It was that capacity people were waiting outside. So to
- 23:26Speaker 2: tell her public that is just misleading and deceiving. And
- 23:30Speaker 2: this is what I want to talk to after you
- 23:32Speaker 2: about the break because so many of these political commercials
- 23:35Speaker 2: now they've reached an all time low. Except I got
- 23:38Speaker 2: to admit I liked Pete Rickets and the Democrat a
- 23:41Speaker 2: fake Democrat Ozborn. That one's catchy. I find myself singing
- 23:45Speaker 2: that at home. But a lot of these commercials are
- 23:48Speaker 2: just meant to deceive you and confuse you. And I
- 23:52Speaker 2: know we're going to see a lot of these coming up.
- 23:53Speaker 2: So we're going to talk about that in a minute,
- 23:55Speaker 2: and then I want to jump to talk about Iran
- 23:57Speaker 2: and what's going on in Israel and Lebanon with you
- 24:00Speaker 2: before we let you go.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Can you stay on after breaky?
- 24:02Speaker 4: But if Breaker is his own man, he can win.
- 24:04Speaker 4: If they got to know he's not Donald Trump. He
- 24:06Speaker 4: supports Trump in these areas, he's a few other things
- 24:09Speaker 4: that he does, he's different than Trump. If he can
- 24:11Speaker 4: make that case, he can win this race.
- 24:13Speaker 2: And I think he can too, and I think it'll
- 24:15Speaker 2: be close like it always is. But I mean, already
- 24:18Speaker 2: I just took a few minutes to look at his
- 24:20Speaker 2: web or his Facebook page this morning. And holy cow,
- 24:23Speaker 2: now I know why I don't like to look at
- 24:24Speaker 2: Facebook anymore. But he's just they're just calling him, Oh,
- 24:27Speaker 2: you're just gonna do whatever Trump tells you to do.
- 24:30Speaker 2: That is not brinker harding at all. I mean, he
- 24:32Speaker 2: stands up for what he thinks is right, and he
- 24:34Speaker 2: tells you how he's gonna, how he's going to achieve
- 24:36Speaker 2: these things, what he's going to do, and he has
- 24:39Speaker 2: always said I will I will represent all of you.
- 24:42Speaker 2: I'm not just representing the far right or the right.
- 24:45Speaker 2: And yet the Douglas County Republican Party did not endorse
- 24:49Speaker 2: him in the primary, and they didn't endorse you as well,
- 24:52Speaker 2: and they didn't endorse you, and they suffer the consequences it,
- 24:55Speaker 2: I know it. They don't represent the vast majority of Republicans.
- 24:58Speaker 2: That's the shame of it. And and that that and that's
- 25:01Speaker 2: what we all need. I mean, we need the support
- 25:03Speaker 2: of the state Republican Party. We need the support.
- 25:05Speaker 4: Weakend us in the mayor's race. And they up up
- 25:08Speaker 4: and down ticket.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Right absolutely comment at kfab dot com to interact here
- 25:13Speaker 3: with the k fab comment line that's Gene Stothard. I'm
- 25:16Speaker 3: producer Scott Vorhees Nebraska second District Congressman Don Bacon here.
- 25:20Speaker 3: This question is for the Congressman. Comes from Billy sent
- 25:24Speaker 3: to comment to kfa B dot com said, should avowed
- 25:27Speaker 3: members of the d s A, the Democratic Socialists of
- 25:30Speaker 3: America be allowed to hold federal security clearances?
- 25:35Speaker 4: Congressman, it's a really good question. If they get elected,
- 25:39Speaker 4: it's automatic unless they show that they have a security violation.
- 25:44Speaker 4: So by getting elected, you get to get a clearance.
- 25:46Speaker 4: But here's the interesting thing is they got to give
- 25:48Speaker 4: an oath to the Constitution, and yet they're against the Senate,
- 25:52Speaker 4: they're against the you know, they want to they're posed
- 25:55Speaker 4: of things that are in the Constitution. But we were
- 25:58Speaker 4: a free country and if they won an election, the
- 26:00Speaker 4: good clearance you can also it works.
- 26:02Speaker 3: You can also call four h two five to five
- 26:04Speaker 3: eight eleven ten. That's four oh two five five eight
- 26:06Speaker 3: eleven ten, or send a message in here via the
- 26:09Speaker 3: talkback mike the on our free iHeartRadio app a little
- 26:13Speaker 3: microphone on the screen. Number of questions are kind of
- 26:17Speaker 3: along this line. I'll paraphrase three or four of them
- 26:20Speaker 3: that came in it had to do with the angling
- 26:23Speaker 3: for the Save Act, the discussion here by Republicans yesterday.
- 26:27Speaker 3: The Democrats have held up the Farm Bill and the
- 26:30Speaker 3: insistence by the President that the Senate in this instance
- 26:34Speaker 3: do away with the filibuster proof option and go with
- 26:38Speaker 3: the nuclear option and just go a straight up or
- 26:40Speaker 3: down vote, kind of like you guys do in the House.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Your thoughts on that, Congressman.
- 26:44Speaker 4: Well, the Farm Bill, the Democrats are against it because
- 26:48Speaker 4: we penalize states who have high error rates. So if
- 26:51Speaker 4: let's say that if Nebraska gave out a lot of
- 26:54Speaker 4: food stamps to people who don't deserve it, well, we
- 26:57Speaker 4: want to hold people accountable. We want to hold states
- 26:59Speaker 4: accountab if they do that. Now, Nebraska has a very
- 27:01Speaker 4: low error rate, so we don't wouldn't pay much of
- 27:03Speaker 4: a penalty. But there's other states, and mainly Democrat states,
- 27:06Speaker 4: who have high err rates like ten percent, and we
- 27:09Speaker 4: want to say, if you have a high aer rate,
- 27:11Speaker 4: you got to pay more. And it's a way to
- 27:13Speaker 4: help push down those error rates. But that's what the
- 27:16Speaker 4: Democrats are opposing here, and I think it's I think
- 27:18Speaker 4: it's a mistake. I think they're trying to well they're
- 27:20Speaker 4: trying to defend Democrats states who have these high error
- 27:23Speaker 4: rates on the Save Act. We have voted for the
- 27:26Speaker 4: Save Act three times out of the House. Frankly, voter
- 27:30Speaker 4: ID is very popular. That should we could just maybe
- 27:32Speaker 4: take that out and just vote for that up or
- 27:35Speaker 4: down that would pass. The area that the Democrats are
- 27:38Speaker 4: pushing back on is how do you verify you're a citizen?
- 27:41Speaker 4: I think we could solve that, frankly and find a
- 27:44Speaker 4: way that meets everybody. This doesn't seem like that heart
- 27:48Speaker 4: of a job to do.
- 27:48Speaker 1: No, it doesn't either, I mean, but that's what the.
- 27:51Speaker 4: Democrats are pushing back on the way, and it's in
- 27:53Speaker 4: the Senate. They can't get sixty votes in the Senate
- 27:55Speaker 4: for that because you've got to get at least seven
- 27:57Speaker 4: Democrats to vote for it, and we have a couple
- 27:59Speaker 4: of Republicans who don't supported either. The best where we're at,
- 28:02Speaker 4: but I want people to know we did vote for
- 28:04Speaker 4: this three times out of the House, so we are there,
- 28:07Speaker 4: and the filibuster, you know, there's not enough votes for it.
- 28:10Speaker 4: I even know that our own senators support the full
- 28:13Speaker 4: of buster because it forces consensus building, it forces less
- 28:17Speaker 4: partisan bills. And that's just the reality. I say, half
- 28:21Speaker 4: the Republicans, I think we should you should be able
- 28:24Speaker 4: to negotiate and try to get sixty votes. The scary
- 28:27Speaker 4: thing was when the Democrats last held the Senate, we
- 28:30Speaker 4: were within two votes of getting rid of the filibuster.
- 28:32Speaker 4: Cinema and then Mansion from West Virginia were the only
- 28:36Speaker 4: two Democrats who defended the full buster. But it was
- 28:38Speaker 4: enough to stop the Democrats from getting rid of the
- 28:41Speaker 4: full of buster. But the bottom line is the filibuster
- 28:44Speaker 4: is there to create a less partisan bills and I
- 28:48Speaker 4: tend to follow that same I tend to agree with
- 28:51Speaker 4: Senator Fisher and Centa Ricketts on this.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Okay, good, thank you, thank you for that, and thank
- 28:56Speaker 1: you for your emails. Congressman.
- 28:59Speaker 2: I wanted to get into the conflict in Iran. First
- 29:01Speaker 2: of all, the President had called it in the past
- 29:04Speaker 2: a conflict. Now he is addressing it as a war.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Is it a war?
- 29:08Speaker 4: It is a war. Real people are dying, We're hitting
- 29:10Speaker 4: real targets. We have real objectives and Iran has they're objectives.
- 29:15Speaker 4: This is a war.
- 29:16Speaker 2: And I mean, but let's talk about where we are
- 29:19Speaker 2: at right now. Your opinion, I mean, we started out
- 29:21Speaker 2: calling it epic fury. They're not even calling it that anymore,
- 29:24Speaker 2: are they.
- 29:25Speaker 4: They're not. The President got himself in a corner here
- 29:28Speaker 4: because he didn't want to go to Congress. He didn't
- 29:31Speaker 4: want to work with Democrats on this, and really we
- 29:33Speaker 4: needed to make this a more bipartisan effort. You can't
- 29:36Speaker 4: go to war with just one party. And if I
- 29:38Speaker 4: would have encouraged and bring over the leadership, here's how
- 29:42Speaker 4: I would phrase it. Iran has been a war with
- 29:44Speaker 4: us since nineteen seventy nine. They've killed a thousand Americans.
- 29:47Speaker 4: I have lost friends from these guys. I hate the
- 29:50Speaker 4: leadership of Iran. I mean they called my friend Tim
- 29:52Speaker 4: Hahn at Kobar Towers. It was an Iranian practice group
- 29:56Speaker 4: who did that. When I was in Baghdad in proxy
- 30:00Speaker 4: groups attacked us every single day. There wasn't a day
- 30:03Speaker 4: we weren't attacked with rockets, mortars and those kinds of things.
- 30:08Speaker 4: Every day we were attacked, and we lost good Americans
- 30:12Speaker 4: from these Iranian practicy groups in Iraq. To the tune
- 30:14Speaker 4: that we did some studies on it, six hundred and
- 30:17Speaker 4: nine Americans have believed to be killed by the Iranian
- 30:19Speaker 4: practy groups in Iraq, and that's six hundred and nine alone,
- 30:22Speaker 4: and that one conflict. Those deadly roadside bombs came from Iran.
- 30:27Speaker 4: Explosively formed penetrators becall they go through tanks, and so
- 30:31Speaker 4: I feel like this had to be done. It should
- 30:32Speaker 4: have been done a decade ago, or you know, by
- 30:34Speaker 4: a previous president. But the president knew he had to
- 30:37Speaker 4: deal with these guys who hate us, the export terror.
- 30:39Speaker 4: They're trying to build a nuclear bomb. Now where I
- 30:42Speaker 4: fought the president, like I said, we should have made
- 30:44Speaker 4: this a bipartisan effort to the bust of his ability
- 30:48Speaker 4: and try to bring some Democrats on board because they
- 30:50Speaker 4: now they are one hundred percent opposed and two you
- 30:53Speaker 4: can't fight a war. And then every other day say
- 30:56Speaker 4: we're trying to make a deal. Hope, now we're gonna
- 30:57Speaker 4: kill them. Now we're gonna make a deal. The President
- 30:59Speaker 4: just needs to say LUs and just beat the living
- 31:01Speaker 4: crap out of these guys until they say uncle.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Is there no longer a nuclear program in Iran? I mean,
- 31:07Speaker 2: has that been totally wiped out? I mean, I know
- 31:10Speaker 2: so many targets have been decimated. Right now, do you
- 31:14Speaker 2: feel like we've already won.
- 31:16Speaker 4: I think we've done significant damage to their nuclear course,
- 31:18Speaker 4: but it can be reconstituted. China and Russia will help them,
- 31:22Speaker 4: and so I think it's not a short term problem,
- 31:25Speaker 4: but I think we will have a long term problem
- 31:27Speaker 4: with Iran on nuclear stuff if we don't deal with
- 31:31Speaker 4: the regime. Are they ring? It is made of a stake.
- 31:33Speaker 4: After we targeted them the first time Epic Fury, and
- 31:36Speaker 4: then we were having negotiations and the President was trying
- 31:39Speaker 4: to make a deal with them, the negotiators admitted to
- 31:43Speaker 4: our team that they had enough nuclear fuel still for
- 31:46Speaker 4: ten nuclear weapons, and that pushed us into the uranium yep,
- 31:50Speaker 4: that pushed us in a round two of this war.
- 31:52Speaker 4: We said, oh, you got enough for ten bombs. So
- 31:54Speaker 4: then the President went back in and that's when we
- 31:56Speaker 4: started having further operations in January and February.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Has there been a regime changed, No.
- 32:03Speaker 4: It's their sun. I mean it's the Iatola son right,
- 32:06Speaker 4: So it's really it's a new generation of IRGC who
- 32:09Speaker 4: hate us just as much. Now, we did kill the
- 32:12Speaker 4: whole first tier leadership of Iran and they were terrible,
- 32:15Speaker 4: but the next tier is they're cut from the same
- 32:18Speaker 4: cloth in the end. You know, the Iranian people are
- 32:20Speaker 4: the most pro American people in the Middle East. I
- 32:23Speaker 4: wish we could help them get their country back. They
- 32:26Speaker 4: want democracy, they hate that. Thirty to forty thousand Iranians
- 32:31Speaker 4: were murdered last December and January because they've protested this regime.
- 32:36Speaker 4: Can you think this thing about thirty to thirty five thousand.
- 32:39Speaker 4: That's what we lost in the Korean War, right, And
- 32:42Speaker 4: so it's this regime has the guns, the people don't.
- 32:45Speaker 4: But our goal should be to get a new regime.
- 32:49Speaker 4: And then what do we need to do to end
- 32:51Speaker 4: the conflict? Then well, I would say luss and I
- 32:54Speaker 4: would pound the living bajeebers out of these guys until
- 32:56Speaker 4: they said, Okay, we're gonna die. We need they need
- 32:59Speaker 4: to stick their hand out first saying we want peace.
- 33:02Speaker 4: What they're hearing is the President keeps saying I want
- 33:04Speaker 4: a deal. I want to make a deal, and they
- 33:06Speaker 4: interpret that as weakness and they're playing them. And so
- 33:10Speaker 4: the President, I'm a Theodore Roosevelt guy in this case,
- 33:13Speaker 4: speak softly, carry a big stick, and I would use
- 33:15Speaker 4: that big stick and keep whopping them over the head
- 33:17Speaker 4: until they want peace.
- 33:18Speaker 2: And then the Israeli Lebanese conflict enters into this. This
- 33:22Speaker 2: is a long running conflict, sometimes involving Syria, and I
- 33:27Speaker 2: think it was back in twenty twenty four the Israelis
- 33:30Speaker 2: invaded Lebanon, so that continues.
- 33:34Speaker 4: They and Hamas are proxy groups to Iran. Okay, so
- 33:38Speaker 4: that's how they've waged war against Israel. They've they propped
- 33:40Speaker 4: up abol and Hamas. So these guys are you know,
- 33:43Speaker 4: they're they're proxy groups. So I ran to wage war
- 33:45Speaker 4: against Israel. So that's what's going on there. So when
- 33:50Speaker 4: they're fighting at Habal, and Hamas are really fighting Iran.
- 33:52Speaker 4: Iran As the guys propping these groups up.
- 33:55Speaker 2: And you know, it seems like this war is going
- 33:57Speaker 2: to make a big difference I think in the upcoming election,
- 34:00Speaker 2: and that so many people say, you know everything, the
- 34:02Speaker 2: prices are going up, you know, the the gas prices
- 34:05Speaker 2: are going up, food prices are going up. But imagine,
- 34:09Speaker 2: I mean, just imagine if they still had nuclear power,
- 34:15Speaker 2: that they could be able to have nuclear weapons and
- 34:18Speaker 2: they controlled or shut down the Strait of Hermus, the
- 34:20Speaker 2: gas prices would.
- 34:21Speaker 1: Be a lot more than they are now.
- 34:23Speaker 2: We're trying to protect us, the United States, now, the
- 34:27Speaker 2: world and in the future.
- 34:28Speaker 4: You know, the leadership in Iran they have a religious
- 34:33Speaker 4: belief that they can create an apocalypse and bring back
- 34:37Speaker 4: bring heaven earlier, and so they actually talk about using
- 34:41Speaker 4: nuclear weapons to help bring the end times together. They're
- 34:44Speaker 4: not like Russia or China where they don't want Moscow
- 34:48Speaker 4: or Beijing to be bombed, right. I mean, the deterrence
- 34:51Speaker 4: works for Russia and China. Deterrence is different with Iran
- 34:55Speaker 4: because they don't fear an apocalypse. I mean they talk
- 34:59Speaker 4: about it, want to bring it, they want to they
- 35:01Speaker 4: want to speed it up, and that's that's what and
- 35:03Speaker 4: they when they openly talk about destroying Israel and United States,
- 35:08Speaker 4: we should take them at their word.
- 35:10Speaker 2: Let's hit well, thank you so much for being with
- 35:12Speaker 2: us today. Congressman Don Bacon, do we need to take
- 35:14Speaker 2: another break out? And what one last thing because this
- 35:18Speaker 2: is so important with this election coming up, But what
- 35:21Speaker 2: seems to be all over the news continuously lately, just
- 35:25Speaker 2: to get your take on this, is this issue with
- 35:28Speaker 2: the w nb A and allowing transgender men to play
- 35:35Speaker 2: in the w NBA. I guess you would call them
- 35:39Speaker 2: women now when you talk about you know, back when
- 35:43Speaker 2: Title nine. The fight for Title nine was the right
- 35:46Speaker 2: for women to play sports together. And when you hear
- 35:50Speaker 2: what is going on now, you know I would say,
- 35:53Speaker 2: I am not anti it's not anti trans, but it's
- 35:57Speaker 2: pro woman.
- 35:58Speaker 4: You're absolutely right and we should defie women's sports. My
- 36:01Speaker 4: sister was all state in three sports, got a free
- 36:04Speaker 4: ride at a university, she played two sports, started on
- 36:07Speaker 4: their teams, got an engineering degree. Some of the first
- 36:09Speaker 4: engineers at Ford, women engineers at Ford. But she got
- 36:13Speaker 4: that opportunity because of the Title nine. And it's ludicrous
- 36:16Speaker 4: to think you can take a biological meal and put
- 36:18Speaker 4: them on a women's team and you have the the
- 36:20Speaker 4: somehow the Democrats defend that, yes, repeatedly, and it's just
- 36:23Speaker 4: against Collins.
- 36:24Speaker 1: And now some of these WNBA coaches are coming out.
- 36:27Speaker 4: It's anti woman to the core. It is, and it's
- 36:32Speaker 4: and it's unexplainable. Frankly. They're biggest defense is so it
- 36:34Speaker 4: doesn't happen often. Yeah, but when it does happen, when
- 36:37Speaker 4: it does happen, and you know it took that poor
- 36:40Speaker 4: one lady. She would have won a bronze medal. She
- 36:42Speaker 4: didn't get a bronze medal, right, And there's enough of
- 36:45Speaker 4: that where it is a problem.
- 36:46Speaker 2: And we you know, and we go back to high
- 36:48Speaker 2: school biology, that your your DNA is determined at conception.
- 36:55Speaker 2: You are either x X, which you are then a
- 36:59Speaker 2: woman am or you are x Y, which means you
- 37:02Speaker 2: are a male. That happens at conception, and it never changes.
- 37:07Speaker 2: And that DNA is in every single cell of your
- 37:10Speaker 2: body and it doesn't changed no matter if you identify differently,
- 37:15Speaker 2: it still doesn't change. And there is some physiological differences
- 37:19Speaker 2: between a male and a female. And the other thing
- 37:23Speaker 2: is is a lot of these coaches are saying, well,
- 37:25Speaker 2: we need to be inclusive in the w NBA. When
- 37:30Speaker 2: has ever sports been inclusive? It's it's it's exclusive. I mean,
- 37:35Speaker 2: I mean you you are on a team, whether it's
- 37:38Speaker 2: a football team or a basketball team because of your
- 37:41Speaker 2: merit and your talent and your ability to be good.
- 37:44Speaker 2: In all men's teams, there are men that are being transferred.
- 37:47Speaker 2: There are dropped from the team, traded all the time.
- 37:51Speaker 2: It's very competitive, and you play if you're good. It's
- 37:55Speaker 2: exclusive and it's never going to be well, we got
- 37:58Speaker 2: to make all these sports incline so that everybody has
- 38:01Speaker 2: time to play one of.
- 38:02Speaker 4: The top players in France right now in the w
- 38:05Speaker 4: their women's basketball is a biological mail. Well duh, I
- 38:09Speaker 4: mean it's I mean it's not right and they're time
- 38:11Speaker 4: to bring that player over to United States.
- 38:15Speaker 2: No, and this is becoming part of this election. I mean,
- 38:18Speaker 2: this is what a big deal that people continue to
- 38:21Speaker 2: talk about. And with Sophie Cunningham, she's coming out with
- 38:25Speaker 2: her pointy finger there and now what she's saying, people
- 38:27Speaker 2: are booing her and trying to boo her off.
- 38:29Speaker 4: She's doing great and she's standing up to it. You know,
- 38:32Speaker 4: I've learned, you know, in this job, when you stand
- 38:34Speaker 4: for the truth and you do what you think is right,
- 38:36Speaker 4: you're gonna get some angry people. But in the end,
- 38:39Speaker 4: I think the vast majority end up agreeing. And you know,
- 38:42Speaker 4: Don Bates stand on principle.
- 38:43Speaker 2: That's one thing I always admired about you because you
- 38:47Speaker 2: stand up for what you believe is right and your
- 38:49Speaker 2: principal and you're not you're not doing things to get
- 38:53Speaker 2: a vote, you're not changing who you are. You're sticking
- 38:55Speaker 2: up for what you believe in. And I think that's,
- 38:58Speaker 2: if that's anything, that's going to be your legacy it's
- 39:00Speaker 2: going to be that. It's that you stood up for
- 39:03Speaker 2: what you believed in, and you're not doing things just
- 39:06Speaker 2: and saying things to get a vote.
- 39:08Speaker 1: You're doing things because you think it's right.
- 39:10Speaker 4: I never wanted to say one thing during the primary
- 39:12Speaker 4: and then do something else. I wanted to be transparent, authentic,
- 39:16Speaker 4: and defind what I believed in and not try to
- 39:19Speaker 4: change way right, be a study guide point in the
- 39:22Speaker 4: same direction.
- 39:23Speaker 2: And you know, I never thought though it was wrong
- 39:27Speaker 2: for any candidate or any elected official to get more
- 39:31Speaker 2: information and to change your mind.
- 39:34Speaker 1: I mean, the more.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Information you get, but explain it, say you know, well,
- 39:38Speaker 2: I've felt this way before, but I've got all this
- 39:41Speaker 2: additional information and I'm looking at it differently and explain
- 39:44Speaker 2: it to people. They used to call it the flip flop.
- 39:47Speaker 2: Oh you said one thing and then the other. I mean,
- 39:49Speaker 2: there is there is some truth to that. But I
- 39:51Speaker 2: think there's nothing wrong too with getting more information and
- 39:54Speaker 2: telling your constituents I know more now, I learn more now,
- 39:59Speaker 2: and this is what I might change my position on
- 40:02Speaker 2: this issue. There's nothing wrong with that. That's not saying
- 40:04Speaker 2: you're not being sincere and honest. It's saying you get
- 40:07Speaker 2: total different information.
- 40:09Speaker 4: Over ten years. I think I got wiser on labor issues,
- 40:12Speaker 4: for example. I always try to get smarter and wiser
- 40:15Speaker 4: and more informed. But I've never tried to be one
- 40:18Speaker 4: way during our primary and then another way during the general.
- 40:20Speaker 4: And I've always tried just this is my core value.
- 40:23Speaker 4: So I believe in this is what you can expect
- 40:24Speaker 4: from me, and I've tried to be consistent, and I
- 40:27Speaker 4: think in the end that it worked for ten years,
- 40:30Speaker 4: and I appreciated the voters giving me that chance and
- 40:33Speaker 4: very grateful. I'm a purse of gratitude today for the
- 40:37Speaker 4: opportunities they've been given.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Well, I think you've done a great job.
- 40:41Speaker 2: And this goes back to Francesca Hang saying I want
- 40:44Speaker 2: to do away with Thanksgiving.
- 40:45Speaker 1: Oh now, I don't want.
- 40:46Speaker 2: To do away Thanksgiving. Good Lord, that is really something.
- 40:50Speaker 2: And last but not at least got your fauci. Holy cow,
- 40:54Speaker 2: that was really something.
- 40:55Speaker 4: And yeah, one hundred and eleven times we've plead in
- 40:57Speaker 4: the fifth and he already had a part, so he
- 41:01Speaker 4: was had a lot of protection on this. So I
- 41:04Speaker 4: tend to agree that he the American people deserve to
- 41:08Speaker 4: really know what happened during COVID, and I think it's
- 41:10Speaker 4: fair like I would tell you when when it first
- 41:13Speaker 4: came out that we had the initial outbreak, we were
- 41:15Speaker 4: briefed it was an accidental release out of the lab.
- 41:19Speaker 4: And then two or three months later we were told, no,
- 41:20Speaker 4: that's a conspiracy theory, as Fauci was pushing that out,
- 41:23Speaker 4: but it was a conspiracy. And now most I think
- 41:26Speaker 4: most people realize it was an accidental release out of
- 41:30Speaker 4: the Wuhan Wuhan lab. In fact, they had failed their
- 41:34Speaker 4: inspections right before the outbreak because they didn't have adequate
- 41:37Speaker 4: safety protocols, and so when you look put it all together.
- 41:40Speaker 4: But I think we want just want to hear the
- 41:43Speaker 4: truth what happened. And I don't really see it as
- 41:48Speaker 4: trying to hang the guy or anything. It just tell
- 41:50Speaker 4: us what happened.
- 41:50Speaker 2: To tell us the truth, right, And you know that
- 41:53Speaker 2: the Senate obviously has now held him, voted to held
- 41:56Speaker 2: him in contempt for refusing to answer the question. He
- 41:59Speaker 2: pled the fifth what one hundred and eleven times during
- 42:02Speaker 2: the hearing on Capitol Hill, And now more than six
- 42:06Speaker 2: years after COVID nineteen pandemic, doctor Anthony Fauci remains a
- 42:10Speaker 2: center in Washington of one of the most polarizing political
- 42:15Speaker 2: battles that we have dealt with, and it was very political.
- 42:19Speaker 2: The whole mask issue was very political.
- 42:21Speaker 4: What's concerning that he was telling people that COVID probably
- 42:24Speaker 4: came from the markets through animal transmission somehow, but then
- 42:30Speaker 4: in his own diary says that that probably is not
- 42:32Speaker 4: the case. Yes, and that's what concerns were being. We
- 42:36Speaker 4: just want honesty, tell us the truth. Let the chips
- 42:39Speaker 4: fall where they fall.
- 42:40Speaker 2: So they have his diary and now they have his phone. OK,
- 42:43Speaker 2: so they're going, Yeah, they have his cell phone and
- 42:46Speaker 2: they're going through that now.
- 42:47Speaker 1: So holy cow.
- 42:48Speaker 2: But what this is just so disappointing to see how
- 42:52Speaker 2: he presented himself and with his very expensive lawyers sitting
- 42:56Speaker 2: There were more lawyers in that hearing room than I
- 42:58Speaker 2: think there were people, but it was it was embarrassing
- 43:02Speaker 2: to sit there and listen to him.
- 43:03Speaker 4: I was gonna try to plead the fifth on the show,
- 43:05Speaker 4: but I didn't think it would work.
- 43:07Speaker 2: No, it wouldn't work, or say next question, but that's
- 43:10Speaker 2: another issue. There question yea, this in yes, Congress, and.
- 43:15Speaker 1: You can't hang up on us in this studio. So
- 43:17Speaker 1: there you go.
- 43:18Speaker 2: Congressman Don Bacon, thank you so much for being in
- 43:22Speaker 2: the studio with us today, and thank you for your
- 43:24Speaker 2: service to our country, both in the military and both
- 43:28Speaker 2: in in Congress.
- 43:29Speaker 1: We really appreciate it.
- 43:30Speaker 4: You're doing a great job. It's fun to listen to you. Well.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Thank you. I appreciate it.
