- 0:18Waka Waka. Welcome to Habawa, a muppet quiz
- 0:43show brought to you by toughpigs.com.
- 0:45It's your favorite quiz show that's not like the others.
- 0:49Here, Muppet fans, Muppet professionals, and everyone in
- 0:54between competes for fabulous prizes And to see who's this
- 0:58week's toughest Pig, I'm your host, Becca Petunia of
- 1:03toughpigs.com. Today on Haboa, we're grabbing
- 1:08our popcorn buckets and boarding the people mover because we're
- 1:12headed to Walt Disney World. You know, for a brief time in
- 1:16the late 80s and early 90s. It seemed like The Muppets were
- 1:19going to have a huge role in the Disney parks, especially
- 1:23Hollywood Studios. Then well, some stuff happened,
- 1:29but there's a lot of intersection between The Muppets
- 1:32and Walt Disney World even today.
- 1:34So we've got a lot to explore. You know, I've been to Disney
- 1:38World's Hollywood Studios once, but at the time it was still MGM
- 1:43Studios and the park was three years old and I was younger than
- 1:48that. So Needless to say, it's been a
- 1:50while and I needed some help to write the questions in this
- 1:54episode. So I used my personal Genie
- 1:57Muppet Wiki to help, plus some other sources that I'll mention
- 2:01later. And Speaking of let's agree to
- 2:03play fair today. Please don't look at Muppet Wiki
- 2:07or any other resource during this game.
- 2:10Disney World is the happiest place on earth.
- 2:14Don't make me sad, anyway. Before we take this ride, you're
- 2:18going to need to show me your Magic band.
- 2:21Or in lieu of that, just introduce yourselves.
- 2:25That's why we're going to play our first game, to tell a face.
- 2:30Contestants, buzz in to answer some questions about yourself.
- 2:35Whoever buzzes in first will be introduced first.
- 2:38Ready. Go.
- 2:42All right, Mel. So Mel, you've buzzed in first,
- 2:46so you get to answer these questions first.
- 2:50So, hello. Hi there, Mel.
- 2:51Hi. Mel, what is your name?
- 2:55Hi, my name is Malia, also known as Mel.
- 3:01Yes, I'm very excited to be here and.
- 3:04You know, I'm going to start doing this this season because
- 3:07it's important to do Mel, what pronouns should we use for you
- 3:11while you're here? I use they pronouns.
- 3:13Thank you so much for asking. No, no problem.
- 3:17So now, what is your sort of history with The Muppets?
- 3:22Yes. So I was definitely into The
- 3:25Muppets as a kid. I remember watching mostly the
- 3:28Muppet movie a lot. That was kind of the only thing
- 3:33I really had, other than on our semiannual family vacations to
- 3:40Walt Disney World. My biggest exposure to The
- 3:43Muppets when I was growing up was Muppet Vision 3D.
- 3:48It is a perfect piece of cinema. It is in my letterbox Talk 4.
- 3:54It is genuinely a perfect movie. And so, yeah, and so I was
- 3:59definitely into The Muppets, but in after I graduated college, I
- 4:04ended up moving it down here to Orlando and being in this sort
- 4:09of theme park environment definitely got me more into The
- 4:12Muppets. Probably a lot more than I
- 4:15anticipated when originally moving here, but we can get to
- 4:19that later if you want. Yeah, well, why don't you tell
- 4:23me a little bit about some of that, some of that theme park
- 4:27experience. What are, what are, what do you
- 4:29do down in Orlando? Why did I why did I call you to
- 4:33be on this episode? So.
- 4:36Ask a leading question. Absolutely so.
- 4:40Eagle eagle eyed fans of my social media may be familiar.
- 4:47I originally moved down here to Orlando for the Disney College
- 4:50program after I had graduated and was working in costuming at
- 4:55the Magic Kingdom. It was really great.
- 4:57I got to work on the bunch of shows and stuff like that.
- 5:01Had a really wonderful experience coming out of theater
- 5:04school. Originally only plan to live
- 5:07down here for, you know, my one semester of a college program.
- 5:11And here I am, almost five years later in a very different place
- 5:14than we started. But so I worked at Disney for
- 5:20about two years and then a little thing called the novel
- 5:25Coronavirus happened and we all got laid off via e-mail on a
- 5:29Saturday afternoon. So that was exciting.
- 5:35And then shortly after the very slow kind of return to a
- 5:44semblance of normalcy here in Orlando, Disney sort of called
- 5:49back everyone from a lot of the frontline positions, but there
- 5:53was not a lot of entertainment in the parks because of the
- 5:57difficulty of. Masking and social distancing
- 6:00for a lot of things like that. So a lot of us who were
- 6:03previously in entertainment ended up other places and it got
- 6:07to a point where I could go back to Disney and work in the parks.
- 6:13But they told me that the only thing they had available at the
- 6:17moment was a quick service food and beverage.
- 6:22And I. Was currently working as like a
- 6:28host at a restaurant at Disney Springs and I was like, well, I
- 6:31don't really want to do that. That's sort of the environment
- 6:33I'm already in. But it would be funny if if
- 6:39you've got anything available, any chance, any chance you got
- 6:43any spots at Pizza Rizzo Open? And believe it or not, that was
- 6:50not one of the more requested locations I guess.
- 6:54And so then I worked at Pizza Rizzo for about six months
- 6:59because I thought that it would be funny and it was so, yeah,
- 7:09all right to see it. And of course, you know you're
- 7:13still down there and you work for Universal.
- 7:16Now correct. Yes, yes, I do.
- 7:18Yeah, doing back in entertainment, doing costuming
- 7:21things with them, having a lot of fun.
- 7:24Still very close to Disney, obviously.
- 7:26Still there a lot. Visiting The Muppets, mostly.
- 7:32Well, there you go. And last question here, what
- 7:37Muppet themed attraction should Disney World open?
- 7:41What? What do you think should be the
- 7:42next move? The next thing I mean, I think,
- 7:53I don't know if this is something we'll talk about
- 7:54later, but one of the early kind of rumored things that they had
- 7:59been wanting for a potential Muppet expansion of at the time
- 8:03MGM Studios. Was like the Great Muppet Movie
- 8:06Ride. Oh, let me tell you, Mel, I have
- 8:08an entire round. OK, great.
- 8:11So that'll come back. But I we lost to the original
- 8:14Great Movie Ride here in Orlando for Runaway Railway, which I
- 8:20personally do not have a ton of beef with.
- 8:23I wish there was a universe where we could have kept both.
- 8:27But I think that park really needed something like Runaway
- 8:30right away. I am not a runaway railway
- 8:31hater. I am, however, a great movie
- 8:33ride Stan. And so if there was a way that
- 8:36we could, we could bulldoze a lot of things.
- 8:40But I think a variation of that Great Muppet Movie ride would
- 8:43kind of be be perfect and be the thing that that park
- 8:47specifically needs to kind of tie it back to that original
- 8:50thing. Excellent.
- 8:52So, Mel, for answering all those questions and thank you so much
- 8:55for for for going into all that detail seriously.
- 8:58But for that I'm going to give you 20 points.
- 9:03And now let's move on to our second contestant from Tough
- 9:07Pigs. It's my name is Matthew
- 9:10Soberman. And Matthew, again, I'm just
- 9:12going to ask you what pronouns should we use on this podcast
- 9:15for you? I use he, he, him pronouns.
- 9:19All right, great. So, Matthew, you know, listen,
- 9:23we all know, we, we know so much about your history with The
- 9:26Muppets because you've been on so many tough pigs podcasts at
- 9:30this point. And do you write for us and all
- 9:33that 11 years now? Yeah.
- 9:35Oh, geez. Yeah.
- 9:37You're you're I'm, I'm coming for you.
- 9:40But slowly. This is year nine for me.
- 9:43Yeah. But yeah, so I'm going to skip
- 9:46that question. I'm going to instead ask you
- 9:51where, where do I park my bicycle?
- 9:54Probably in Dover, which is the capital of Delaware.
- 9:57That's true. All right.
- 9:59Next question. What is your history with Walt
- 10:02Disney World? Because you only talk about this
- 10:05half as much, maybe 2/3 as much as you talk about The Muppets.
- 10:10Yeah, it's kind of a big yeah. I mean, yeah, at least where,
- 10:16where where I talk with you about things.
- 10:19True. So my first trip to Disney World
- 10:24came in February 97. The 25th anniversary Celebration
- 10:32was still going on. It was the only time I got to
- 10:36ride both Horizons and the original Journey into
- 10:40Imagination. They both closed by the next
- 10:44time I had been. By this next time I went, those
- 10:49I think had a pretty formative experience of my life.
- 10:52Like, if you're talking poor memory, I don't remember much,
- 10:56but I just remember being in awe of Horizons to the point where,
- 11:01believe it or not, growing up where people think of me as the
- 11:07Muppet guy today, they thought of me as the Disney Parks guy
- 11:10then. I've been there more times than
- 11:15I can count. Haven't been there recently,
- 11:20though. I think I went just after the
- 11:24Great Movie Ride closed. That was a that was a sad day.
- 11:29Yeah. I mean, it's just sort of always
- 11:31been a presence in my life. You've also you've written for
- 11:35some Walt Disney World News websites on and off, and
- 11:39occasionally about Walt Disney World News for tough pigs.
- 11:42That's true. And I should say you of course
- 11:45we're on the most listened to episode of Tough Pigs other
- 11:51podcast or one of our other podcasts.
- 11:53Moving right along, you were on the episode where you discussed
- 11:57Muppet Vision 3D. I did.
- 11:59Which maybe we'll be talking about and you love.
- 12:02You love reminding us. I love it just because of how
- 12:05much it irks Ryan. I think Anthony is just sort of
- 12:10like, bemused by the whole thing.
- 12:12But Ryan Ryan's like this again. I mostly do it to get a rise out
- 12:18of him. Not, not for any.
- 12:20Anyway, now I wouldn't know anything about trying to to get
- 12:24a rise out of Ryan and Joe. And anyway, So what?
- 12:29What Muppet themed attraction do you think Disney should add to
- 12:32their parks? Well I you know what, there are
- 12:35a lot of great things, but honestly I would just be happy
- 12:38if they reopened Muppet Vision 3D at Disney California
- 12:43Adventure. Like it feels weird that
- 12:46literally only one Disney park on the whole planet has a Muppet
- 12:50based attraction. So I at this point I would I
- 12:55would be happy to settle for just that.
- 12:58But if I had like a ride, I mean the Great Muppet Movie Ride
- 13:02would would have been fabulous. Other than that, wow, I've never
- 13:08really tried to like Imagineer, my own Muppet attraction.
- 13:16I mean, obviously I think the big thing now is trackless dark
- 13:19rides like Runaway Railway, as Mel said.
- 13:24I think that they're The Muppets, could have a lot of fun
- 13:27with that as a medium. It's funny because when you put
- 13:32it that way, like I think Runaway Railway is a good kind
- 13:35of structure with like you're you're supposed to be doing
- 13:38this, but then it goes completely wrong and you're
- 13:40going all over the place like that's that's very much in the.
- 13:44Perfect idea, yes. Oh, and I do want to thank Mel,
- 13:48because as we all know, cast members are the magic.
- 13:51So thank you. Thank you for keeping us
- 13:56entertained and engaged. Anyway, I'm going to open a a a
- 14:02Jacques Roach themed attraction at Disneyland Paris.
- 14:07I need to, I need to workshop what it is.
- 14:09But that's that's for like Ryan and Anthony and nobody else.
- 14:13Anyway, you've so nice work. You have earned 20 points as
- 14:19well. Matthew Bringing this to an
- 14:21exciting tie and moving forward, let's play our first trivia
- 14:28game. And you guess so.
- 14:32In this game, we'll be guessing about the biggest way that The
- 14:37Muppets are at Disney World, the attraction Muppet Vision 3D.
- 14:42We all know and love Muppet Vision 3D.
- 14:45And in fact, you've both just spoken about how much you know
- 14:48and love Muppet Vision 3D. It was Jim Henson's final
- 14:52project with the Muppet gang, and it's still one of the best
- 14:563D movies out there. But do you remember key details
- 15:00about the show? I'm going to ask you questions
- 15:02about Muppet Vision 3D. Your job is to buzz in and
- 15:07answer the questions. It's so simple, even being Bunny
- 15:11could do it. Each question is worth 2 points.
- 15:15Buzz in when you know the answer, but Please wait until I
- 15:19finish reading the question so our studio audience can play
- 15:23along. Are you ready?
- 15:25Well, what do you think? We have time to go to the
- 15:28bathroom before the next show, We Casual Purple.
- 15:34Let's go. All right.
- 15:35First question, what year did Muppet Vision 3D open in Disney
- 15:40World? Matthew, that would be 1991,
- 15:48correct? Matthew, I'll ask you this bonus
- 15:52question. What is significant about the
- 15:54date the attraction opened at Disney World?
- 15:58Well, it opened on May 16th, which was the 1st anniversary of
- 16:02Jim's passing. All right.
- 16:05I'll throw in an extra point for that.
- 16:08It also opened then, little little under the three months
- 16:12before I was born. Question two, what year did
- 16:19Muppet Vision 3D open in California Adventure, Matthew?
- 16:27That would be 2001. Correct. 10 years later and it
- 16:33was an opening day attraction at California Adventure.
- 16:36Like the mountain shaped like a bear?
- 16:39Question three, what company was the original sponsor of the
- 16:43attraction? Mel.
- 16:50Was it Kodak? It was Kodak, correct?
- 16:55Question four What is the name of Bunsen and Beaker's living 3D
- 17:00effect? Matthew, That would be Waldo,
- 17:08the spirit of 3D. Can you can you give me his his
- 17:12full his full name from the Jim Henson hour Waldo C Graphic.
- 17:17Correct. Question five.
- 17:20What device do Bunson and Beaker use to try to stop Waldo
- 17:28Matthew? That would be the Vacuum Muppet.
- 17:31Ooh, you got the specific name too, right?
- 17:33That's that's what I like. Question six What remote control
- 17:38device does Fozzie use as a cheap 3D trick now?
- 17:49That would be his remote controlled banana cream pie.
- 17:52Correct. Nice work.
- 17:54Question seven What song does Miss Piggy sing before she is
- 18:00interrupted by being Bunny? Mel.
- 18:07She sings. Dream A Little Dream of me.
- 18:09Correct question Eight Who is the only character to appear in
- 18:14the attraction in person that is not just on screen or as an
- 18:20audio animatronic? Matthew, that would be sweet of.
- 18:28Correct. The the Swedom's.
- 18:31At least originally, the the people in the Swedom's costume
- 18:34were trained by the the the Jim Henson folks to make sure that
- 18:38he could believe they still are, though I'm not 100.
- 18:41Percent, Yeah, I can't. I don't know if that's still the
- 18:44case, but I certainly know it was in the 90s.
- 18:47That's so cool. To make sure they could
- 18:49realistically move like Swedom's Question 9, now we're talking
- 18:54about the queue. According to the information at
- 18:57the Muppet Labs Security desk, where can you find the key to
- 19:02Muppet Labs now? Very fast there.
- 19:07The key is under the mat. The key is under the mat now
- 19:11having the three of us bought all been to Disney World.
- 19:15Have you looked for the key? Absolutely.
- 19:19It's a must do. It's a must do when.
- 19:21It's under the mat. I've been again.
- 19:24I had like I said I I went to Disney World fairly recently,
- 19:28but we didn't get to go to Hollywood Studios.
- 19:31Heartbreaking. So the only time I've been to
- 19:34Hollywood Studios, which was MGM studios at the time was
- 19:38literally in 1994. So I saw Muppet Vision 3D twice
- 19:43then but I have no memory of like the specifics of the queue
- 19:48we also. Had weirdly had a bootleg VHS
- 19:52copy of Muppet Vision 3D growing, so I've seen it a
- 19:57couple times even before the YouTube days, but I had a lot of
- 20:03just bizarre Muppet Vhs's that I need to dig through the next
- 20:07time I'm at my parents' house. But.
- 20:08I was going to say, do you still have that VHS?
- 20:11I do it. I mean, it would be at my
- 20:13parents' house, but I mean. It I remember it being bad
- 20:19because it was like filmed directly and not with like
- 20:22somebody correctly polarizing the lens.
- 20:27Just like there's good versions of it on YouTube now, which I
- 20:30rewatched to help me write these questions.
- 20:34And I remember the VHS not being that good, but it was nice to
- 20:38have anyway. Question 10 One of the props in
- 20:45the backstage queue. It pays tribute to a famous
- 20:49Mouseketeer. What prop is it, Matthew?
- 20:57It is a net full of Jello correct tribute to Annette
- 21:01Funicello. I feel like that's got to be
- 21:04almost impossible to like. I wonder if anyone has figured
- 21:07that out without reading it written down.
- 21:11I have no idea. Or if you take kids in there
- 21:12today. Oh well, certainly I don't think
- 21:15kids today know who Annette Funicello is.
- 21:17Unless they should. Kids are re watching those
- 21:20specials or kids are listening to that one bonus episode of
- 21:26podcast to the Ride where they talked about all of her career.
- 21:30Question 11 What is the name of the orchestral group who plays
- 21:35the music for the show? Matthew.
- 21:44I know the band leader is Nicky Napoleon, but I don't remember
- 21:49the name of I think it. I thought it was Nicky Napoleon
- 21:51in his orchestra. It is not, at least not
- 21:54according to Muppet Wiki. I'm not sure where this is
- 21:57stated, if it's stated anywhere. Mel, do you have any idea?
- 22:02I do not actually have any real idea.
- 22:04OK, according to Muppet Wiki it is listed as Nicky Napoleon and
- 22:08his emperor Penguins now. That's cute.
- 22:13I believe that name comes from another Muppet production, which
- 22:18is actually what brings me to my next question, which I was gonna
- 22:22ask whoever got the question right, this bonus question.
- 22:25This Daily Double, or whatever you want to call it on what 2
- 22:30Muppet Programs did Nicky Napoleon previously appear I.
- 22:35Think I could guess one of them, but I don't think I could guess
- 22:38both. Well, I'll give you one point.
- 22:40If you want to buzz in, Matthew, let's do this right, Matthew.
- 22:45Was it Little Muppet? Absolutely.
- 22:48Was that three episode long TV show before it was cancelled?
- 22:52Little Muppet monsters. I assume neither of you have any
- 22:57idea what the other one is. Well, it was a show.
- 23:01It was a special designed to promote little Muppet monsters,
- 23:05among other things. The Muppets, The Muppets, A
- 23:09celebration of 30 years. That show was a special like
- 23:15retrospective, and also was designed in part to promote
- 23:19little Muppet monsters. A show that had already been
- 23:22cancelled by the time The Muppets, a celebration of 30
- 23:26years, aired. But Big Bird sure is excited to
- 23:32watch that show. He is, He is.
- 23:34He mentions that, Yeah. What is the name of Sam?
- 23:41The Eagles finale now just called a salute to all nations,
- 23:50but mostly America. Correct.
- 23:54I'm unsure if this episode will have already come out or will be
- 24:00coming out after this one, but I do have an episode that I'm
- 24:04going to be recording where I wrote the all of the questions
- 24:07based on that theme of A salute to All Nations include, but
- 24:11mostly America. Question Question 13 What Disney
- 24:17theme park attraction does Sam's finale reference Matthew?
- 24:26What is? It's a small.
- 24:27World it is. It's a small and.
- 24:29I just remembered, I'm not on Jeopardy.
- 24:30This is an Ellen. This is an Ellen's energy
- 24:32adventure. This is not Ellen's energy
- 24:35adventure. I'm sorry, not yet.
- 24:39I. A nightmare of a lot.
- 24:42I did not write a whole round of questions based on Ellen's
- 24:46energy adventure starring Ellen DeGeneres and some dinosaurs and
- 24:52Bill Nye the Science Guy. Yeah.
- 24:55And Jamie Lee Curtis? There's an Oscar winner in
- 24:57there. It's true.
- 25:00Kramer Question 14. Jim Henson tragically died
- 25:05before the release of this attraction.
- 25:08Leaving Frank Oz to put the finishing touches on it.
- 25:11What did Frank ask Disney to pay him in return?
- 25:22Matthew. That would be a basket of socks.
- 25:26It is a basket of socks. That is the payment Frank Oz
- 25:30received for completing Muppet Vision 3D.
- 25:34See, I was just studying before this episode and that I had to
- 25:38look at the Muppet Vision page and it just happened.
- 25:40That's what my eyes scrolled to. Is that fact.
- 25:44I had not heard that before. That is wild.
- 25:47Yeah, yeah. He would not accept any money
- 25:49for finishing Jim's project, which I think is a sweet
- 25:53gesture, absolutely. Man, it's funny because again,
- 25:56like I said, I've only been to Disney World a few times, but
- 25:59like, seriously and and Mel, Mel knows this and I think you both
- 26:03do, just from Twitter. Like, I love podcast the ride so
- 26:08much that like now I like know everything about Ellen's Energy
- 26:13Adventure. A ride I never did and obviously
- 26:17will never do. No, not anymore.
- 26:21Sad. I did love it.
- 26:24That doesn't surprise me that you to.
- 26:26Tie it back to the beginning episode closed on the same day
- 26:28as The Great Movie Ride. Oh, wow.
- 26:32That, I believe, was the Disney Blogger apocalypse because they
- 26:37had to close to cover two Closings and had to make the
- 26:42difficult decision as to try to be the last person on which
- 26:46road. Oh my God.
- 26:48And famously, Ellen's energy adventure, unlike the Great
- 26:51Movie Ride, broke down on its last ride.
- 26:55Like the people who waited all day did not get to finish the
- 26:59ride that but they didn't get to walk through.
- 27:01Did they at least get to walk through the dinosaur part?
- 27:04They did. Everyone was taking pictures and
- 27:06the cast members were not rushing them at all.
- 27:10I mean, why would you? The dinosaurs is again like the
- 27:13best part, but I've learned that comes from a different ride.
- 27:18So moving back. All right, nice.
- 27:23Work there. Now it's time for my favorite
- 27:25game, the Headtohead game. The time.
- 27:31As. Long as we're talking about The
- 27:32Muppets at Walt Disney World, let's talk about The Muppets at
- 27:35Walt Disney World. And by that I mean the TV
- 27:39special from 1990, this incredibly fun episode of the
- 27:43Magical World of Disney. Features The Muppets exploring
- 27:47different attractions around all three of Disney World's parks,
- 27:53the Magic Kingdom, Epcot and MGM Studios.
- 27:58And boy, do they visit a lot of attractions.
- 28:01By my count, there are 36 attractions or Disney World
- 28:06areas featured in this special. And I will say.
- 28:12Muppet Wiki. Shane, I know you're listening.
- 28:15We don't have a written out list of this on Muppet Wiki.
- 28:19So your pal had to sit in front of her TV and write them all
- 28:24down. And some of them I did not know
- 28:27the name of, so I had to describe them and text Ryan
- 28:31Rowe. I'm like there's an attraction
- 28:34that looks like this. What is it?
- 28:36What kills me is you. Could have absolutely have asked
- 28:39me, but I I knew you were going to be on the episode, so.
- 28:43I had to ask Ryan instead, but anyway, I'm not mad.
- 28:50I'm sure you did. Well, I'm pretty.
- 28:53Sure, I did great and I'm pretty sure you guys are going to do
- 28:56great too. So here's how this is going to
- 28:58work, starting with Mel. Name a location at Disney World
- 29:03that appears in The Muppets at Walt Disney World.
- 29:07We'll go back and forth between the two of you to see who can
- 29:11name more. So Mel's going to name one, then
- 29:13Matthew's going to name one, then Mel's going to name one,
- 29:15then Matthew's going to name one.
- 29:18If you can't remember one or you get the answer wrong, your
- 29:21opponent will have the chance to steal and go twice instead.
- 29:26If neither of you can answer, the round ends, right?
- 29:30And hey, if you can't remember the special that well, remember
- 29:35Disney World attractions from the year 1990 and you'll be OK
- 29:41All right. So, Mel, yes.
- 29:45I don't know that I have ever seen this special all the way
- 29:48through. Oh my goodness.
- 29:49Oh, I highly recommend it. It's a lot.
- 29:52It's on. It's on YouTube.
- 29:54I thought about watching it to prepare for this and then I just
- 29:56didn't. And I regret that.
- 29:58Now it's on YouTube. It's a lot of fun, especially if
- 30:01you like both The Muppets and the Parks.
- 30:03They film it on location, which is nice.
- 30:07It's a lot like that that social media video where animal goes to
- 30:13animal Kingdom and just isn't funny and.
- 30:17He's really bland and just says like Bunny rabbit over and over
- 30:20again. It's a lot like that.
- 30:22But if there were jokes, okay if it were funny.
- 30:25And entertaining and an hour long, Yeah.
- 30:28And Jim Henson. And Frank Oz were there and all
- 30:31that. And Frank Oz was.
- 30:32Performing animal, yeah. No offense to Eric Jacobson.
- 30:35No, Eric does a. Wonderful, yes, offense to.
- 30:38That video where he just says Bunny rabbit anyway.
- 30:42Walt Disney World Oh yeah, that's right.
- 30:44I. Forgot.
- 30:45Walt Disney World is just on the other side of those trees over
- 30:47there. Let's go, everybody.
- 30:50But wait a second, what about the Frog Festival?
- 30:53Kermit, you don't understand. You are asking us to choose
- 30:56between Walt Disney World and fried bugs about Mel.
- 31:02Name an attraction. Can it be like a location as
- 31:07well? It can be a.
- 31:09I'll let you know if I need you to go more specific.
- 31:11OK. I know that part of this special
- 31:15does take place at the Grand Floridian Resort.
- 31:17OK, I have. Grand Floridian on my list.
- 31:21Matthew name a location I don't know if.
- 31:24This is going to count, but I'll shoot my shot.
- 31:27I do know that Robin is carried away on the Walt Disney World
- 31:31Monorail. I do have Monorail written down.
- 31:38Listen, I I approached this with the level of thoroughness that
- 31:43fans of Havola and tough pigs in general come to come to expect.
- 31:49Monorail is on my list now. Name an attraction.
- 31:53I believe Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
- 31:57I believe Big Thunder. Is in this special correct
- 32:01Matthew? Star tours, OK, Star Tours.
- 32:07Correct Mel Main St. USA Main Street USA is included.
- 32:18Can you be a little more specific?
- 32:21The scene is on like a key feature of Main Street USA.
- 32:26I guess on is a clue there. Is it on the trolley correct?
- 32:33Incredible. Well, as long as we're talking
- 32:37modes of transportation, I'm gonna pick a defunct attraction.
- 32:41The World Showcase bus around that used to take people around
- 32:46World Showcase at Epcot. Now, listen.
- 32:48I have World Showcase written down.
- 32:51Oh, just always one. Well, no.
- 32:53Because I actually am going to now ask you to get a little more
- 32:57specific, Matthew. Name.
- 33:01One of the pavilions featured in the World Showcase in the
- 33:06special. I'm pretty sure they.
- 33:07Use all the ones that were open at the time so I can name you
- 33:11all eleven. Well, I take it.
- 33:13I I got bad news for you because there's only nine in the
- 33:16special. Oh, there's only nine.
- 33:17Well then. I'm going to go with the safe
- 33:19choice, and that's Mexico. Mexico is.
- 33:21In the special Mel you want to guess?
- 33:24Yeah, sure. I'll go the other direction and
- 33:26I'll say Canada. Canada is in the.
- 33:28Special correct, Matthew. Japan The Japan Pavilion.
- 33:33The Japan Pavilion. Is in the special Mel the UK.
- 33:37The UK is in. The Special, Matthew.
- 33:40The Morocco. Pavilion the Morocco.
- 33:42Pavilion is in the special Lifford just jamming.
- 33:46Out there. Yeah, he is Mel France.
- 33:50France is in the. Special Matthew Italy.
- 33:53Italy is in the special. Mel Germany Germany is in the.
- 34:00Matthew, this is the last one by my count.
- 34:05So I'm I'm not 100% on this. I'm gonna say China.
- 34:12It is China, correct? So the United States, I did not
- 34:16notice the American adventure anywhere.
- 34:20And what's the other one that's missing?
- 34:22Norway. Which not have been open yet.
- 34:24All right, Norway. Opened in 88 so.
- 34:28I didn't. I didn't see it again.
- 34:30I was keeping a pretty close eye anyway, so I trust you.
- 34:33It's. So we did the World Showcase
- 34:36Mel, another attraction going back to our defunct attractions.
- 34:42I believe the, like Skyway buckets in Magic Kingdom aren't
- 34:47that special. Maybe, you know, I didn't.
- 34:51Write down the skyway. I don't believe they.
- 34:54Are I think that was only for promotional I believe, yes, the
- 34:59promo photo. The promo photo does have it,
- 35:01but I don't believe it's in the special Matthew.
- 35:04I guess you get to name 2 then. Well, I will keep the defunct
- 35:09theme going. I believe Gonzo and Camilla
- 35:11stand outside the wonders of life.
- 35:14They do. Correct and.
- 35:16For the second one, as long as we're cuz you know, Epcot's my
- 35:20happy place. I know Bean and Scooter hang out
- 35:24at the jumping fountains outside.
- 35:25Journey into imagination, correct Mel.
- 35:33We have reached the extent of my knowledge on this, so I am going
- 35:37to start guessing. We have not done any from MGM
- 35:43Studios yet, so I will say the great Movie Ride.
- 35:47Or the the Chinese theater facade.
- 35:49The Chinese. Theater is included.
- 35:51Yes, right. That is the great movie, right?
- 35:54Well. Then I will go with the the big
- 35:56finale at the Indiana Jones epic stunts.
- 35:58Spectacular. Correct.
- 36:01Now, staying at MGM, is there anything on the the streets of
- 36:07America? The back lot.
- 36:09The New York. Back lot is included.
- 36:12Robin is so excited to be on the New York back lot.
- 36:15It is. A little strange, I'm pretty
- 36:21sure this is. A real world location, so I'm
- 36:23going to say at the Pet Care Center it that is on my list.
- 36:29Now I believe I'm get the I think there is a scene at like
- 36:35the beach outside the Grand Floridian or like on the Seven
- 36:39Seas Lagoon. I think I just included that as
- 36:42part of the Grand Floridian. That's fair.
- 36:48Do you want to guess again? Yeah, Mel Go again.
- 36:50That's fair, Okay. That's my fault for not saying
- 36:54the sentences Lagoon is. It's separate.
- 36:59I will get going back to Magic Kingdom.
- 37:06Let's say the Jungle Cruise, The Jungle.
- 37:10Crews not included, despite you feel like being right up.
- 37:14Yeah, right up their alley. Feels like that would, yeah.
- 37:17Have a lot of potential. Yeah, Matthew.
- 37:19You want to give me two? See, now we're getting at the
- 37:23point where I'm trying to quickly go through this special.
- 37:26Yeah, if you miss listen. If you miss one again.
- 37:28If you both miss then then this round is over.
- 37:35I had one and I. Because I'm going to start
- 37:39stretching, I believe the opening sequence where they
- 37:42break in is in front. You can see from the shot Sid
- 37:49Kahangas. You know, I didn't have.
- 37:52That written down, but I believe you because it's so specific.
- 37:57Yes, they the old that. For those who don't know, that
- 38:00was a a a place in Hollywood studios near and dear to my
- 38:04heart because. Unlike every other merchandise
- 38:07shop on property, they sold movie props.
- 38:12Now that building is, sorry, no, go ahead, go.
- 38:15Ahead as you say. Now that the building still
- 38:17exists and I think the facade might still be there, but it is
- 38:19the Photo Pass headquarters of Hollywood Studios.
- 38:23I could only. Afford one item from there, and
- 38:25it was a prop check from the Broadway version of The
- 38:28Producers. OK, so in.
- 38:30A way I. Technically brought it back to
- 38:32New York. I would all the way to get
- 38:34something I could have gotten if I had waited outside the
- 38:38dumpster of the Saint James Theater.
- 38:41Matthew, you want to give? Another one because you do get
- 38:43to steal. I believe.
- 38:47Kermit and Raven Symone sing Rainbow Connection outside
- 38:52Cinderella Castle. Correct.
- 38:54I will. Accept Cinderella's castle.
- 38:56It's so obvious, but it it counts as an attraction.
- 39:00Mel, anything. Any guesses?
- 39:03Following that theme I'll say Spaceship Earth.
- 39:06Spaceship Earth. Is included because again, you
- 39:09can't, not Matthew. Yeah, I'm starting.
- 39:15Oh, Fozzie, when he tells his jokes, I'm pretty sure a couple
- 39:18of the country bears can be seen.
- 39:19So I'm gonna say Country Bear Jamboree.
- 39:21Correct. I will count.
- 39:22That even though you cannot, I don't think you see actual
- 39:25country Bear Hall, But you do see the bears, Mel.
- 39:33How many do we have left? Oh, geez. 123456789101112 OK
- 39:43country bears. I got them right here.
- 39:46I am going to guess the living seas that I've got.
- 39:51The living seas is. Correct.
- 39:53Oh yeah, they do a. Bunch of When they're doing the
- 39:55finale dancing in front, yeah, the definition.
- 39:59And I had to write them all down.
- 40:00That feels. Well, I'm starting.
- 40:02To grasp it straws myself. Some of these are obvious and
- 40:06then some of these are ones that I needed to check Ryan.
- 40:10I'm pretty sure. Keeping with the Country Bears,
- 40:13one of the other bears that laugh at Fozzie's jokes in the
- 40:17scene is Brare Bear from Splash Mountain.
- 40:21It is Brare Bear from Splash Mountain.
- 40:24I did not have Splash Mountain written down, but I will, I will
- 40:28give you another one because Brer Bear is there.
- 40:31So it feels like that's going to count for Splash Mountain Mel, I
- 40:36guess, sticking with the. Frontierland theme Can I say Tom
- 40:41Sawyer Island with the boats Is the boat?
- 40:48Well, you can a little wrapped are Toms.
- 40:50Yeah, well, you can see. You can see the Mark Twain.
- 40:56I think that's a separate attraction.
- 40:57That's a yeah I. Would count the different the
- 40:59boats were the. Mike Fink, Heel Boats yeah,
- 41:02which I think we're operating still at the time but well, I I
- 41:07don't know if you I don't. Have that.
- 41:08I think it's just the Mark Twain, which I guess I just gave
- 41:10away. So now there's less options
- 41:13left. Matthew.
- 41:17The Crystal Palace. The Crystal Palace, which I had
- 41:20to ask Ryan the name of. And Matthew, do you have another
- 41:24one? Oh, you're still missing some
- 41:28obvious ones. Some obvious.
- 41:31Ones Wow. Cuz I I like ones that people at
- 41:36home will will know. Oh, I'm sure I could.
- 41:40Name Disney Parks attractions. But I don't.
- 41:42I'm just trying to remember what's in the special.
- 41:48Yikes. I'm gonna stay.
- 41:58The magic of. Disney Animation No, I'm sorry.
- 42:03OK, so I guess that's we we each you both missed.
- 42:06So I'm going to end the round here.
- 42:09Attractions you did not mention Crossroads of the World.
- 42:14Oh yeah, the shop Space Mountain.
- 42:19No, it is than that. I wasn't sure you see the
- 42:21outside of it. It's again, I had to check, but
- 42:24it's definitely Space Mountain. The chapeau.
- 42:32That's not an obvious one. Dumbo the Elephant and the Mad
- 42:35Tea Party were the two obvious ones that neither of you said we
- 42:40could count. Donzo's various adventures in
- 42:44quote a grungy tunnel outdoors as well as.
- 42:49As well, yeah. I'm I'm sure as well as a
- 42:52laundry room, a sewer and I also would have counted Mickey
- 43:00Mouse's office where the special ends.
- 43:03All right. And I do apologize again if I
- 43:06missed or I was incorrect and the mark the Tom Sawyer Island
- 43:11was included or or any of these other things.
- 43:15I am sorry, but believe me, I am going to try to convince Matthew
- 43:22to help me edit Muppet Wiki so we can not have to go through
- 43:26this again. Meanwhile, while we're not in
- 43:30the park, let's let's turn on Disney Plus and check one of the
- 43:35other most Disney World themed Muppet productions.
- 43:40That's right. I'm talking about Muppets
- 43:42Haunted Mansion. I thought you were.
- 43:44Going to talk talking about behind the attraction?
- 43:47No, I they don't have a Muppet one of that, do they?
- 43:53Yeah, I feel like I would have watched it if they did.
- 43:56No, I'm talking about Muppets Haunted Mansion.
- 43:58Anyway, as you know, in this special, Gonzo and Pepe have to
- 44:02spend the night in the Haunted Mansion.
- 44:04Except not the Haunted Mansion at Disney World or Disneyland or
- 44:08the Phantom Manner or whatever. It's kind of the same, but
- 44:12different. And one of the ways that the
- 44:14mansion is different is that instead of our usual Haunted
- 44:18Mansion friends, we've got Muppets.
- 44:21Because at the end of the day, nothing is scarier than Moe
- 44:25Frackle. That's why we're going to play a
- 44:28game that I'm calling Doom Buddies in this game.
- 44:34Thank you. Thank you.
- 44:34Thank you. I'll pause for the hilarious
- 44:37laughter in this game. I'll name a character from the
- 44:44Haunted Mansion attraction or Haunted Mansion Lore.
- 44:49Your job is to buzz in and name the Muppet who portrayed that
- 44:54character in the special. I love it.
- 44:59I want to thank and this is the other source that I used.
- 45:02I want to thank the Haunted Mansion Wiki for some
- 45:06clarification on the character names.
- 45:09Because this is something else, Matthew, that's something else.
- 45:10We're going to have to take care of them up at Wiki because yeah,
- 45:14we're not using, we're not really using.
- 45:16I guess we're using the names that they used in the credits of
- 45:18the special, that they're not the official Haunted Mansion
- 45:21names. Also, it is really the haunted.
- 45:23Mansion fandom is a level beyond Disney Parks fan.
- 45:27I was about to say it is real hard to understand the names of
- 45:31the Haunted Mansion characters because they each have like 6
- 45:34names and then titles. And then there's the comic book
- 45:39names and the Eddie Murphy movie.
- 45:42And now Jared Leto has a movie, and that's.
- 45:46What we are but weeks. Away from getting more new names
- 45:49to add to this expansive lore, so I'm going to name a Haunted
- 45:55Mansion character. You are going to buzz in and
- 45:57name the muppet who portrayed that character in the special.
- 46:02For some of them, there may be more than one right answer if I
- 46:06mention a group of characters or a pair of characters.
- 46:12Also in those cases you will get points if you name both.
- 46:17If you can only name one, you will get some points, etcetera,
- 46:20etcetera. You will get two points for each
- 46:23correct answer. And now let's meet some of those
- 46:27999 happy haunts. The only thing worse than being
- 46:33stuck in here with you is being stuck in here with them.
- 46:37Question one, Madam Liotta Matthew.
- 46:45By a like millisecond that would be.
- 46:48Miss Piggy? That would be Miss Piggy.
- 46:52Question 2. The Hat Box Ghost.
- 46:59Mel. Fozzie.
- 47:01Correct. Question 3.
- 47:06The organist. Now that is Rolf.
- 47:13That is Rolf Question 4, the Birthday Ghost.
- 47:23Matthew, that's Robin. It is Robin.
- 47:26Tiny Tim did. Die.
- 47:31I mean much. Later, much after the events of
- 47:33Muppet Christmas Carol. What?
- 47:36Yeah, he he's he's very much dead by the time Muppets on a
- 47:39mansion rolls around. True question 5, and there's
- 47:42obviously 2 characters here. The staring busts.
- 47:50Matthew, that would be Doctor. Bunsen, Honeydew, and Beaker
- 47:54Correct Question 6. The chandelier ghost.
- 48:03Matthew, is that chip? That is Chip.
- 48:08Everyone's favorite Muppet Chip. Not Tory?
- 48:12Who? Runs live from Muppet Lynch.
- 48:14She hates. Chip, question 7, and there's
- 48:18two answers here, the duelists. Matthew, that would.
- 48:27Be Pops and Sam the eagle correct.
- 48:31Matthew is on A roll here. Question 83 answers here because
- 48:39we are talking about the quicksand men from the
- 48:43stretching painting. Matthew that.
- 48:50Would be link hog throb. Correct.
- 48:54The middle ghost is I want to say Doctor Strange port correct?
- 49:00And the the. The The one that's going to be
- 49:03making a quick exit is Miss Poogie.
- 49:05It is Miss Poogie. Is that the only other?
- 49:09Time we've seen her outside of the 2011 Oh no, Oh no.
- 49:13She's in the episode of Muppets. Now that I reviewed, let me just
- 49:20say Miss Poogie, my least favorite Muppet.
- 49:23Anyway, I I don't like Miss Coogee Question 9.
- 49:28Continuing with these these paintings.
- 49:32Sally Slater Mel, that is. Janice, that is Janice, correct.
- 49:43And question 10, the last included painting because they
- 49:47did not do one of the bride. Question 10.
- 49:52Alexander Nitrokoff. Matthew by a millisecond.
- 49:59Again, you guys are like neck and neck well.
- 50:02Standing on dynamite, who else would you get but Crazy Harry?
- 50:06Correct. Now this one is harder because
- 50:10question 11 is constances 6 dead husbands.
- 50:15I'm going to let you guys go back and forth on this rather
- 50:18than just let one of you earn 12 points.
- 50:20Mel, give me one. Walter.
- 50:23Walter is one of them. Matthew, give me a second one.
- 50:26Beauregard. Correct.
- 50:29I will say did not recognize it was Beauregard when I first
- 50:32watched the special. He is heavily.
- 50:33Disguised like that mustache, it is hard to tell that that is our
- 50:37favorite cab driver. Slash janitor Mel.
- 50:40Another one. I don't know if.
- 50:43You're counting them together or separately.
- 50:46But Johnny. So, Johnny.
- 50:48All right, Johnny. Matthew the.
- 50:52Next one would be Salmonella, correct Mel.
- 50:58There's two more. She has six dead husbands.
- 51:02Pepe will be the 7th. I don't know that I have.
- 51:08The other two Matthew, I can name one of.
- 51:12Them it's the the foul mouthed Penguin.
- 51:14It is the foul mouthed Penguin. It is a Penguin who Johnny says.
- 51:18Can't say that it's a or Sal one of them.
- 51:22What's the? There's there's another one I
- 51:27know, but. I'm trying to remember who it
- 51:28is. I believe technically it's the
- 51:305th. If we're, you know, if we want
- 51:33to be really specific here, the Penguin is the 6th.
- 51:37I mean, I'm going to have to call it he.
- 51:41Probably Will. I'm going to go out on a limb
- 51:44and say Phil Van Neuter. It is not Phil Van Neuter,
- 51:47although he is present in the party scene.
- 51:52It is Lu Zealand. I can't believe it.
- 52:00No, no, no. I mean, it's okay.
- 52:03Honestly, I have not watched this special since it came out.
- 52:07It's cute. Question 12.
- 52:11Question 12 The Grady twins, Matthew Oh the.
- 52:19Only twins more terrifying than the great the actual Grady
- 52:23twins, Andy and Randy. And please correct, and please
- 52:27forgive me for that trick question because they are, of
- 52:29course, characters from the film.
- 52:31They're shining. But they are in the movie I was
- 52:35tempted to. Say that this question is too
- 52:37hard. Yeah.
- 52:40No, no, no. But they're.
- 52:41But they're in the special. They're in the special they.
- 52:44Sure are, they say. Come play with us, Gonzo.
- 52:47All right, You guys are so good at this.
- 52:51It's scary. And Speaking of scary, you know
- 52:55what attraction terrified me as a kid.
- 52:58It's that neighbor of Muppet Vision, The Great Movie Ride.
- 53:03No, seriously. I was like 3 years old and I
- 53:08went on the Great Movie Ride and I got so freaked out by the fire
- 53:13and the gunshots that I caused a walk off.
- 53:18Wow. And that's why you haven't.
- 53:20Been back to Hollywood? No, no, no.
- 53:24Anyway, it it scared the. The the chambers out of me as a
- 53:27kid too. The Alien.
- 53:30From Alien, it was the Alien. Well, spoilers.
- 53:34It was. It was that.
- 53:37It was. It was a combination of a lot of
- 53:38rides that I'll I'll get into when we get to the questions.
- 53:42But anyway, rest in peace. Great Movie Ride, but three-year
- 53:47old Becca will not miss you. One thing that would have made
- 53:52The Great Movie Ride a little more palatable to me as a kid
- 53:56would have been if they went forward with the idea to put The
- 53:59Muppets in it. That's right, we know for a fact
- 54:02that there were plans to make the ride the Great Muppet Movie
- 54:06Ride with The Muppets, causing chaos throughout the most
- 54:09classic set pieces of Hollywood. Alas, that ride never came to
- 54:14be. However, I'm still thinking
- 54:16about The Muppets and their relationship to the great movies
- 54:19of Hollywood's past. That's why we're going to play a
- 54:23very special edition of our Name the celebrity game Mystery
- 54:28Guest. In this game, I'll name a time a
- 54:32celebrity worked with The Muppets or a time The Muppets
- 54:36directly referenced that celebrity's work.
- 54:39Your job is to name that celebrity.
- 54:43Get it right, and you'll learn two points.
- 54:45Here's a hint. All of these celebrities
- 54:49appeared within The Great Movie Ride.
- 54:53Great. Wait until I finish the clue to
- 54:56buzz in. All right, here we go.
- 55:01Question one, We've already spoken about The Muppets at Walt
- 55:04Disney World. In this special, Kermit famously
- 55:08plays a character historically performed by this actor.
- 55:16Matthew Harrison. Ford It is Harrison Ford.
- 55:22And Matthew, for one extra point, what a Harrison Ford
- 55:26movie is featured in the great movie Ride Raiders.
- 55:29Of the Lost Ark, Correct. Question two.
- 55:33Also in The Muppets at Walt Disney World, he and Kermit are
- 55:37confirmed to both be members of Casa, the fictional animal stars
- 55:42of America. Matthew, that would be Mickey.
- 55:50Mouse It is Mickey Mouse. And what Mickey Mouse movie is
- 55:54included in The Great Movie Ride, I'm just going to say.
- 55:57Steamboat Willie It is not Steamboat Willie Melton, though.
- 56:01It is Fantasia. Oh.
- 56:04Vivid Fantasia is seen in the attraction not.
- 56:06I mean, it is in the oh, how did I forget that one Question 3 on
- 56:12a primetime special, she performed many songs and
- 56:15sketches with The Muppets, including singing a big spender
- 56:19to the Cookie Monster. Matthew, that would be.
- 56:26Julie Andrews. That is Julie Andrews And what
- 56:29Julie Andrews movie is included Mary Poppins?
- 56:32It is Mary Poppins now. I saw you, like, raise an
- 56:35eyebrow. Have you not seen Julie on
- 56:37Sesame Street? No.
- 56:39Okay, you have to at least. I'm going to.
- 56:42I'm going to. I'm going to send you the clip
- 56:44of her. I never oh the.
- 56:45Clip I've seen Yeah, yeah. I haven't seen the whole
- 56:47special, but the clip where she does, I kid you not, A sexy
- 56:53burlesque number of Hey Big Spender where she tries to
- 56:57seduce the Cookie Monster who is only interested in eating while
- 57:03she is like getting on his lap and like showing her stockings.
- 57:09I can't believe I. Haven't seen or heard of this.
- 57:12This is a thing that existed and was on primetime television
- 57:17before The Muppet Show, correct? Yeah, this predates the Muppet
- 57:21Show, I believe Might. I don't remember.
- 57:25Now I'm gonna have to check. I mean, I checked for.
- 57:31You but you said no Muppets. No, no, no, no, you can't look.
- 57:35Yeah, 73. That's before The Muppet Show.
- 57:37Yeah, that it. Is Wow.
- 57:40I mean. Also, I think one of two Muppet
- 57:43Show guest stars that were immortalized as an audio
- 57:46animatronic. I'm sorry, I didn't know.
- 57:51That was a was a question. Question four.
- 57:56She famously appeared in an episode of Sesame Street that
- 57:59was banned for being too scary for children.
- 58:06Now is that Margaret? Hamilton, that is.
- 58:09And where is Margaret Hamilton? In The Great Movie Ride?
- 58:13In the Wizard of. Oz Yeah, I saved that.
- 58:15It like obvious. Where else would she and what
- 58:17character? Does she?
- 58:18Yeah, Gee. Another scary.
- 58:24Moment from that ride again. I I'm not going to give away
- 58:29where I where I got got scared because I don't want to give
- 58:33things away. I mean for.
- 58:35For the folks at home, it's the Wicked Witch of the West.
- 58:38Yes. OK.
- 58:39Thank you. Question 5, Neither of these
- 58:42actors ever appeared with The Muppets.
- 58:44However, they lend their names to baby Natasha's doting yet
- 58:49dotty parents. Matthew, that would.
- 58:57Be Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.
- 58:59That is Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.
- 59:02And what Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman movie is
- 59:06included? A movie.
- 59:08A movie. Spooked multiple times by The
- 59:10Muppets Casablanca. Correct, but I didn't want to
- 59:13give away the movie with the question Question 6, His episode
- 59:19of The Muppet Show, Matthew was the final one filmed, hence its
- 59:25plot about Beauregard worrying about the end of the world.
- 59:33Matthew, that would be. Gene Kelly It is Gene Kelly.
- 59:37And what is the Gene Kelly movie in The Great Movie Ride One?
- 59:42Of the best singing in the rain, it is like he performed on The
- 59:46Muppet Show after much coaxing. Question seven, he hosted The
- 59:52Muppets Go Hollywood and sang You Ought to Be In Pictures to
- 59:56Miss Piggy. Matthew.
- 1:00:01That would be Dick. Van Dyke, that is, Dick Van.
- 1:00:04Dyke, who of course is included in.
- 1:00:09Mary Poppins, Mary Poppins again, question 8.
- 1:00:13This actor's work was parodied. On a Monsterpiece Theater sketch
- 1:00:18about the importance of washing one's face.
- 1:00:26Matthew. Is that James?
- 1:00:27Cagney, that is James. Cagney Because of course they
- 1:00:31did. Monsters with Dirty Faces, a
- 1:00:35parody of Angels with Dirty Faces.
- 1:00:38And Matthew, what is the James Cagney movie featured in The
- 1:00:44Great Movie Ride that's scared? The life out of me.
- 1:00:47Well, technically there. Are two James Cagney movies.
- 1:00:50Though Cagney is not included in the other scene.
- 1:00:55The one that scared the heck out of you would have been the
- 1:00:57Public Enemy. It was the public.
- 1:00:59Enemy correct and the 2nd. Film Cagney film referenced is
- 1:01:03Footlight Parade. That's.
- 1:01:06True, Yeah. Footlight Parade is less scary
- 1:01:08though, no? Yeah, No.
- 1:01:11Question nine, she voiced the myth speaker.
- 1:01:16In the Dark Crystal Age of resistance.
- 1:01:20So it's got to be. Someone who's still yeah, so
- 1:01:24this. Person isn't in Footlight
- 1:01:26Parade, Mel. Is it Sigourney?
- 1:01:30It is Sigourney. Correct.
- 1:01:33And what's Sigourney Weaver movie that was?
- 1:01:36What like? Absolutely forced them to take
- 1:01:39me off the ride after I started crying at James Cagney, the
- 1:01:43scene that traumatized. Alien, of course.
- 1:01:46Correct. And it's funny because again,
- 1:01:49now I'm like obsessed with horror and like Alien is one of
- 1:01:53my, like top five favorite movies of all time.
- 1:01:55But as a three-year old, no, it's so scary.
- 1:02:00Yes, well, my. Parents didn't know that.
- 1:02:03Like they didn't. Know what was going to be on the
- 1:02:05great movie? There's a Xenomorph.
- 1:02:07That comes out of the ceiling down at you, yes.
- 1:02:11And the Xenomorph, unfortunately, you know, I guess
- 1:02:14he kind of did work with The Muppets, because on Muppets
- 1:02:19Tonight there was a puppet that looked kind of like a Xenomorph.
- 1:02:23In the sketch Codependence day, but I did not write that down
- 1:02:26and they directly. Parody alien in a pigs in space
- 1:02:30sketch that I think was filmed for YouTube, Correct?
- 1:02:32Yeah. Pepe comes out and he chest
- 1:02:34bursts out of someone. Question 10 and the last
- 1:02:39question in this round, Big Bird once said that the only way to
- 1:02:43make a career out of swimming was to be like this actor from
- 1:02:47the pre code era of Hollywood, Matthew.
- 1:02:55Is that Johnny Weiss? Mueller, that is.
- 1:02:57Johnny Weiss Mueller? There is.
- 1:03:00It is on Muppet Wiki, an episode of Sesame Street where Big Bird
- 1:03:04has a throwaway joke where he says the only way you can make a
- 1:03:08career out of swimming is to be Johnny Weiss, Mueller or Esther.
- 1:03:12Williams Well, that's not what big.
- 1:03:14Bird says Big Bird is. Six years old, What does he
- 1:03:19know? From classic Hollywood and what?
- 1:03:22Johnny Weiss Mueller movie is included in The Great Movie
- 1:03:26Ride. That would be Tarzan.
- 1:03:27The Ape man. Thank you for giving me the
- 1:03:29full. Title of the Johnny Weiss
- 1:03:31Mueller version and now as what I did so many years ago, we walk
- 1:03:38off but before we exit through the gift shop, we have two more
- 1:03:43quick games. First off, it's time for you to
- 1:03:47become a cast member and test my knowledge.
- 1:03:50It's our classic Stump the Host game, the Anything in the World
- 1:03:55Prize game. As you know, in this round you 2
- 1:03:59will be able to ask me anything in the world.
- 1:04:03Literally well know anything in the world about The Muppets if
- 1:04:09you stump. You will earn 15 points so.
- 1:04:15I need to total up the scores because I have not been doing
- 1:04:18the math. I've just been drawing a lot of
- 1:04:20tally marks. So we are going to start with
- 1:04:25Mel, however, but let me do the math real quick.
- 1:04:28Listen, we we we love everyone on Avawa and truly, it's still
- 1:04:36anyone's game thanks to these last two rounds.
- 1:04:39But let me talk a little bit about the score, because right
- 1:04:42now. Mel has 58 points doing
- 1:04:47extremely well and extremely respectively, and Matthew has
- 1:04:52almost twice that with 106 points doing doing even better.
- 1:04:59But Matthew writes for Tough pigs.
- 1:05:03Matthew, listen, it's still anybody's game, I know.
- 1:05:08I'm I'm not getting overconfident but but.
- 1:05:11Matthew, you do have a comfortable, comfortable 48
- 1:05:15point lead. This is about how.
- 1:05:17I expected this to go and you know what?
- 1:05:19It's OK. Listen.
- 1:05:21Listen, listen, we're all winners here on Haboa.
- 1:05:25So now, would you like to ask me a question to stump me?
- 1:05:31I would. I am going.
- 1:05:33I did come up with a few questions.
- 1:05:35They are all about pizza Rizzo and I'm going to pick.
- 1:05:40The one that is maybe not the hardest, but it is my favorite
- 1:05:45pizza Rizzo. Fun fact that I learned while
- 1:05:47working there, which early. Jim Henson and Muppet Project is
- 1:05:55referenced with a prop in the lobby of the Pizza Rizzo order
- 1:06:01pickup. Area now again?
- 1:06:04See, like you said, this is a great fun fact that I'm glad
- 1:06:06we're getting on the episode, but I do think I know this one,
- 1:06:10despite having never gone. Are you?
- 1:06:14Are you? Referencing is this referencing
- 1:06:18the the PA Otter memorial service that you can see on the
- 1:06:23board or no, is that elsewhere because that's elsewhere.
- 1:06:28All right, well then listen, you technically did stump me, so you
- 1:06:33do get 15 points. But before you answer you give
- 1:06:37your answer, Matthew, I'm curious to to know if you know
- 1:06:42the answer that Mel is looking for here.
- 1:06:46Don't think I do. I'm.
- 1:06:48I'm excited to find out. Is it the Jimmy?
- 1:06:50Dean, show it is. Not that is also upstate OK cuz
- 1:06:54I know. That one too.
- 1:06:56Which one are you talking about? We are talking about.
- 1:06:59So right inside when you walk in the main like lobby entrance to
- 1:07:04Pizza Rizzo, to the right kind of above the door is a shelf,
- 1:07:08and on that shelf is a Wilkins coffee tune I.
- 1:07:15Had actually seen that before, but I totally forgot.
- 1:07:18Like like our pal Wilkins and Wilkins.
- 1:07:22It is my favorite. Do you?
- 1:07:23Like Wilkins coffee. No, it is my.
- 1:07:26My favorite. Little thing?
- 1:07:28Well, you're lucky you're in a. Different building than I.
- 1:07:32AM. Oh, no, that's great.
- 1:07:32That's great. And I'm so glad that we.
- 1:07:34Hey, now we got to talk about there's a newspaper clipping of
- 1:07:38Rolf and Jimmy Dean on the Jimmy Dean Show, and you can see the
- 1:07:42faded letters on a sign board about the PA Otter memorial
- 1:07:47service. Yes.
- 1:07:48Upstairs at Pizza Rizzo is the greatest place in the Disney
- 1:07:52parks. It is my favorite place.
- 1:07:55It is the perfect place to charge your phone and sit in the
- 1:07:57air conditioning and drink a beer.
- 1:08:00And in that, you know, community bulletin board where they that
- 1:08:04newspaper clip that you're referencing is.
- 1:08:06I definitely did not, definitely did not try and figure out a way
- 1:08:13to get in there and like add my own photo while I was working
- 1:08:17there because I knew that no one would notice or check it.
- 1:08:21I definitely didn't do that. And it didn't work out either
- 1:08:24way, but I could. Have and.
- 1:08:29Matthew, why don't you try to stump me so, Becca?
- 1:08:33From our question, we're going to go all the way back to the
- 1:08:36summer of 1991, which was a magical time as there were not
- 1:08:41one but two Muppet attractions open at the Disney MGM Studios.
- 1:08:46So, Becca, for how many days were both?
- 1:08:51Muppet Vision 3D and Here Come The Muppets simultaneously in
- 1:08:56operation. 15 I'm sorry, the correct.
- 1:09:00Answer was 110 days. From May 16th.
- 1:09:06To September 2nd, hey. And I was alive for you.
- 1:09:11Were born when. 23. Of those days I was alive.
- 1:09:16You. You.
- 1:09:17Were born when the stars, Muppets, stars aligned, yeah,
- 1:09:22all. It all it took was, was Jim
- 1:09:24Henson dying, I mean. I mean, the thing was.
- 1:09:29In look the The project was in preparate, was in production
- 1:09:34when he died. They didn't decide when they
- 1:09:36were going to open it anyway we are.
- 1:09:40Now in our last game. Which is of course, say the
- 1:09:44word, and before we enter, say the word, Let's.
- 1:09:47Let's check the scores. So you both earned 15 points on
- 1:09:51that last one, meaning that the score is now Mel with 73 points
- 1:09:57and Matthew with 121 points. As we know.
- 1:10:04In, say, the word in this round, you can wager any amount of
- 1:10:10points. The winner gets those points and
- 1:10:13the loser loses those points, right?
- 1:10:16It's just like Final Jeopardy, except you do get to hear my
- 1:10:20question before you wager. So here's the.
- 1:10:28Like I alluded to earlier, Disney had a lot of plans to
- 1:10:32include The Muppets in MGM Studios right before Henson
- 1:10:36passed. Henson's tragic passing put a
- 1:10:39wrench in many of those ideas, though.
- 1:10:41Well, the plans began when Henson was still alive.
- 1:10:45It is believed that only one Walt Disney World attraction
- 1:10:50featuring The Muppets was completed during Jim Henson's
- 1:10:55lifetime. Sources are a little
- 1:10:57inconsistent here, but I'm trusting the majority belief.
- 1:11:02Anyway, this is a three-part question.
- 1:11:06What was this attraction? Where was it?
- 1:11:10Located within MGM Studios and what 2 Muppet characters
- 1:11:16appeared in it. So there's three parts to this
- 1:11:20question. So for those at home, I'm asking
- 1:11:22what was the one attraction featuring The Muppets that was
- 1:11:26open during Jim Henson's lifetime?
- 1:11:30Where was it located within MGM Studios?
- 1:11:34And what were the two Muppet characters, or I guess, who were
- 1:11:37the two Muppet characters who appeared in it?
- 1:11:40The current score is 121 points, Matthew 73.
- 1:11:46Points Now this is supposed to be very hard.
- 1:11:53I'm hoping it is and this isn't something that is maybe obvious
- 1:11:57and we have to get all three. Questions.
- 1:11:59No, whoever gets. More of them, correct?
- 1:12:02So for instance, Mel, if you get one of them right and Matthew if
- 1:12:06you get two of them right, Matthew you will earn the points
- 1:12:09back and Mel you will lose the points.
- 1:12:14So it's it's. That that incentivizes you to
- 1:12:17guess even if you don't know all three parts.
- 1:12:35Okay. So one of you has clearly been
- 1:12:38doing their homework and has gotten more of these questions
- 1:12:44right than the other. Mel, you bet all 73 of your
- 1:12:49points. And Mel?
- 1:12:52You said that the attraction was what?
- 1:12:59I was trying to think of things that were open.
- 1:13:01I have no idea what this is I. Have no idea what this is but I.
- 1:13:05Was trying to think of things that were open and so I thought
- 1:13:07that perhaps maybe there was a some sort of Muppet segments
- 1:13:11that I don't remember on the back lot tour, Okay.
- 1:13:15And that would be located where probably.
- 1:13:19In the Streets of America section Okay and.
- 1:13:22You guessed that it would include which two Muppets, I
- 1:13:25said. Bunsen and Beaker.
- 1:13:27Because you know why not OK, sadly.
- 1:13:30All three of those are incorrect.
- 1:13:32Well, I mean, I can. Vouch for personal account, Mel
- 1:13:38is not it wasn't technically an attraction, but when they were
- 1:13:42in production on The Muppets of Walt Disney World cuz Craig
- 1:13:45Shemmon did a presentation about this at the Museum of the Moving
- 1:13:49Image The Muppet the Jim Henson Productions crew.
- 1:13:54Did decorate their bungalow, which I think could it be seen
- 1:13:57from the back lot tour. OK, but it's closer, but
- 1:14:03obviously alive during. I believe they did decorate it.
- 1:14:07I don't believe. I don't remember what it was
- 1:14:09decorated with, but I do know that the team was down there and
- 1:14:13they did try to make their presence known and entertain a
- 1:14:17few guests well. Matthew, you bet all 121 points.
- 1:14:23And you said that the attraction was what?
- 1:14:27So I did not know this. I did not know the final
- 1:14:30question. But I was recently on Tori
- 1:14:33Schmidt's podcast live from Muppetland, where we covered The
- 1:14:37Muppets at Walt Disney World, and she asked me a trivia
- 1:14:42question, which just happened to be this very I didn't.
- 1:14:46Listen to that episode. I didn't listen to that episode.
- 1:14:50And not only that, I didn't tell Tory that I was doing this.
- 1:14:54So that is a wonderful coincidence.
- 1:14:57And that explains, and I hate to break this to you, Mel, that
- 1:15:01explains the accuracy of Matthew's response.
- 1:15:04Because Matthew, what is the attraction?
- 1:15:07The attraction was the stage show Hollywood's Pretty Woman,
- 1:15:12which was performed at Theater of the Stars, where Our Beauty
- 1:15:16and the Beast Live on stage is performed currently.
- 1:15:20And wasn't this like? Hosted by Roger Rabbit or
- 1:15:22something, I believe Roger Rabbit.
- 1:15:24Was involved. I mean, it was.
- 1:15:25It was, yeah. I mean, I don't.
- 1:15:27Remember exactly. When it opened, if it was 89 or
- 1:15:3090, I know it did open within his lifetime.
- 1:15:34Yeah, so. But Roger Rabbit was still like
- 1:15:38a huge hit for Disney and they were pushing that character
- 1:15:41wherever they could. It should be and the two
- 1:15:44characters. Who will be returning to the
- 1:15:46Theater of the Stars this holiday season as part of
- 1:15:50Jollywood Nights, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy.
- 1:15:54Correct it was. The easiest two choices.
- 1:15:58So I will say even if I give, even if I were to have given Mel
- 1:16:02some points for back lot tour, Matthew definitely wins his
- 1:16:11points back and wins more points back.
- 1:16:14So with a final score of 242 points, our winner and today's
- 1:16:19toughest pig is Matthew Soberman.
- 1:16:26Congrats. You were?
- 1:16:28Wonderful to. Work with.
- 1:16:31Hey, I learned stuff I didn't know.
- 1:16:33Listen, listen. I'm I'm really glad to have had
- 1:16:37both of you. But Matthew, you of course win a
- 1:16:42fabulous prize. That is either your choice of
- 1:16:46some very expired Dole Whip from 1994 or this magnet of Waldo C
- 1:16:54graphic himself. Well, you know, I don't.
- 1:16:57Have any expired Dole Whip but that Waldo graphic?
- 1:17:02That Waldo magnet is too good to pass out.
- 1:17:04And I will. Say because I still owe you a
- 1:17:08magnet for when from when you guessed.
- 1:17:12A question about Bugsy them correct on Twitter.
- 1:17:16So I did make you an extra magnet as well, Matthew, to go
- 1:17:19along with Waldo. Oh wow, I have a set.
- 1:17:27Of Muppet vision. You've got a set.
- 1:17:29Of Muppet vision magnets, and they will be coming your way.
- 1:17:34All right. Well.
- 1:17:35That brings us to the end of another one, so guests.
- 1:17:39Let's talk Where can people find you if you wish to be found,
- 1:17:42Matthew? As long as the site doesn't go
- 1:17:47kaboom before this, this episode, and we've all we've.
- 1:17:51All been working out backup plans?
- 1:17:53Yeah, you can. Find me on Twitter at Matthew
- 1:17:56Soberman 2T's in Matthew All One Word.
- 1:18:03You can also I occasionally tweet through the Tough Pages
- 1:18:06account. So occasionally my, you may see
- 1:18:11my witticisms there. I mean, you're on.
- 1:18:14Tough pigs. I am on tough pigs.
- 1:18:17And you go, you can also. See me if you like making people
- 1:18:22making fun of theme park specials and old TV.
- 1:18:26I'm also on a series which broadcasts on Twitch called
- 1:18:31Screen Holes VHS, the Void of horrible Stuff.
- 1:18:36It's me and a bunch of friends sort of riffing and riffing
- 1:18:42mystery science theaters style, over vintage TV specials, often
- 1:18:47involving theme parks. All right, and.
- 1:18:52Mel, where can people find you if you wish to be found?
- 1:18:55Absolutely. I at the time being am still on
- 1:19:00Twitter as well as. Instagram, Blue Sky.
- 1:19:04TikTok letterbox. It is Mel Schneff on everything
- 1:19:08MELSCHNEF brand consistency. It's all there.
- 1:19:12And if not, if you're ever at the Pizza Roseau banquet room,
- 1:19:16there's a chance that I am probably also there, and at
- 1:19:19least. You're there in spirit,
- 1:19:21absolutely. Like PA Otter.
- 1:19:24You're watching down over us all.
- 1:19:26And of course you can find toughpigs@toughpigs.com.
- 1:19:31Or at Tough Pigs on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram.
- 1:19:34We are on Blue Sky, YouTube. Hopefully going to be streaming
- 1:19:39some more on YouTube because that went well the last time we
- 1:19:42did that. Maybe we already are, depending
- 1:19:46on when this episode is released.
- 1:19:48Boy, things are confusing right now.
- 1:19:51And hey, if you like the work we do at Tough Pigs, consider
- 1:19:54donating to the Tough Pigs Patreon, where you can get even
- 1:19:57more exclusive free stuff. And of course we have Tough Pigs
- 1:20:01T-shirts and merch, which include a shirt promoting Pablo
- 1:20:06and a shirt I designed inspired by the monster at the End of
- 1:20:10this book, and some other shirts I designed for Pride Month that
- 1:20:14are still available, and other stuff that other people
- 1:20:17designed. I don't know.
- 1:20:19Listen, always be plugging, always be plugging.
- 1:20:22Anyway, check those out at our Tough Pigs T public page.
- 1:20:27And I guess I should plug my stuff too.
- 1:20:29You can find me again currently on Twitter, but regretting it
- 1:20:32every day at Uncle Petunio. You and uncle like the kind of
- 1:20:40person who would invite his nephew to a bug Fry and Petunio
- 1:20:46is like the flower except with an O.
- 1:20:49And unfortunately, when you transition, you lose access to
- 1:20:53brand consistency on Instagram, Tumblr, and Blue Sky.
- 1:20:57I am at tall Girl Petunia all one word, and that time the
- 1:21:02flower is spelled correctly. Anyway, I want to thank some
- 1:21:07people for helping out our guests.
- 1:21:10Thank you both. Seriously, this was thank you
- 1:21:12for doing this. Yeah.
- 1:21:13Thank you for having me. This is so.
- 1:21:15I love Muppets. And I love game shows and I love
- 1:21:18Disney parks. You've made this the highlight
- 1:21:21of the week. Well, and it's only Monday, so
- 1:21:25hopefully it'll remain. Well, if it remains the
- 1:21:28highlight, then that means you probably have a pretty terrible
- 1:21:30week. So I don't know what to think.
- 1:21:32But I also want to thank Stacy Rosen for writing the theme
- 1:21:36music to the show. Richard Gomez for doing our host
- 1:21:40artwork. Thank you to Joe Hennis, the
- 1:21:43Tough Pigs Muppet Fan Podcast Executive Producer.
- 1:21:47And thanks to myself for writing and editing and hosting.
- 1:21:55I don't know, always be plugging.
- 1:21:58Yeah, absolutely. And and as I, as I thanked
- 1:22:02earlier, thank you to me listening to the complete
- 1:22:06podcast, the ride backlog, for teaching me how to act like I
- 1:22:10know what theme parks are. And anyway, thanks to all of you
- 1:22:16at home for being with us on Hobowa, the Muppet Quiz Show.
- 1:22:21And as always, I think that Swedom's the troll from
- 1:22:25Maelstrom and the Yeti are best friends and it's time we all
- 1:22:29admitted it. Thanks everybody.
- 1:22:36Hey, what's all the commotion about?
- 1:22:38Horny ran away. Well, you know what?
- 1:22:40That makes you smarter than us.
