- 0:23chickens, Hey everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:29coop. Today, we're talking about
- 0:31disappointments. Oh God disappointments.
- 0:35How many times do you think you use that word in a day in a week
- 0:39in a month and a year because it all happens.
- 0:45We find ourselves in a state of saying, well or thinking we're
- 0:50disappointed. It was one of the things that I
- 0:52grew up with my mother used to use that.
- 0:54Word a lot. Especially when I would get in
- 0:57trouble for talking too much in class and she'd say I'm
- 1:00disappointed, you're not paying attention, wasn't that?
- 1:02I wasn't paying attention. I just had a lots of questions,
- 1:05but disappointed was a word and I I think there's a huge lesson
- 1:13in understanding disappointments when we are disappointed in
- 1:18ourselves and others in all, you know, the world so to speak.
- 1:24We often have expectations that were putting out there and these
- 1:28expectations have attachments to them and attachment really is
- 1:33the biggest struggle that we have when we get attached to
- 1:36something, and we have this, deep need to have something.
- 1:42Take place, in order that we avoid that disappointment.
- 1:46We set ourselves up for failure because again, looking outside
- 1:51of yourself for things is the Path to disappointment or my
- 1:57husband likes to use it in a different way.
- 1:58He'll say the road to disappointment is paved with
- 2:01missed expectations and I couldn't agree more.
- 2:05That town of disappointment is such a big town and when we
- 2:10really think about it and how much time we spend headed.
- 2:14There, we say, gosh, this is because I expected something
- 2:18that I shouldn't have expected and managing expectations of
- 2:23yourself and Cognizing where you put those expectations on
- 2:27yourself is important, but it's really about where you put them
- 2:31on. Other people I put expectations
- 2:34on myself and I'm okay with that but I'm I'm not going to beat
- 2:38myself up either because that's not a way.
- 2:40I don't subscribe to, you know, the beatings will continue until
- 2:44morale improves. The problem we have is when we
- 2:46put those expectations on other people who have no business
- 2:50making them, they, we can't force people.
- 2:54To do it. We can't sit there and say to
- 2:56someone else I have large expectations of you and if you
- 3:01don't do what I tell you to do, I will be disappointed with you.
- 3:04And then I carry that disappointment around and
- 3:07parents are really good at doing this, with their kids, I can't
- 3:12tell you how many times in my life I heard that but that's not
- 3:15a way to lead and it's not always a good thing to put on a
- 3:19child because then the child understands that they have to
- 3:24live to make other people happy. And that's not what we want.
- 3:28We don't want to make other people feel like are there.
- 3:31The role is your just to make another person happy.
- 3:34Now, this your role is to focus on yourself and Choose to be
- 3:41happy, no matter what is going on around.
- 3:42You said that before, I think I said it yesterday, but our big
- 3:48focus in this is really acknowledging that we are not
- 3:53going to put disappointment out there so quickly.
- 3:58Instead of having that, when disappointment shows up, you
- 4:02have to ask yourself. What is this trying to teach me?
- 4:05Because it will show up and it's here to give you some
- 4:08information. So if I'm It in something.
- 4:12Like, for instance, I was completely disappointed in a big
- 4:15portion of my garden this year. It was trying to teach me
- 4:18something. It was trying to teach me that I
- 4:21really need to pay attention to the types of seeds that I buy,
- 4:25because I live in a space where it is hot.
- 4:29It is like how hot here and some of the seeds that I chose, even
- 4:33though they were awesome and wonderful and sound so exciting.
- 4:36They were not ideal for growing where I live.
- 4:39They were just not ideal. So, I needed to make a better
- 4:41choice. If I had made better choices,
- 4:44they would have been absolutely able to thrive, but I didn't
- 4:47make better choices. So, rather than being just in a
- 4:50state of disappointment and not doing anything about it.
- 4:53I have to recognize, I need to make better choices when I make
- 4:56better choices, will have better outcomes and I can immediately
- 5:01shift my mindset and that moment when I can get excited and say,
- 5:03okay, now I get it, I can shift this, I don't have to be upset
- 5:07about this easily, I can't Write down all my lessons and let me
- 5:12tell you, I do pulled out a notebook wrote down.
- 5:14Here's what worked here's what could have been better.
- 5:17Here's how I can close the gap. All the right for my flower
- 5:20garden as well. You know, lots of flowers that
- 5:23didn't do well disappointed. Yes, whose fault was it.
- 5:27It was my fault wasn't the seeds.
- 5:29Fall wasn't the weather's fall? I could complain and say yeah,
- 5:31we had 21 days, straight of rain things drown.
- 5:34Okay? Nothing was going to help with
- 5:36that, but I'm not going to be mad at Mother Nature.
- 5:38I'm not going to walk around and Completely disappointed with mud
- 5:43Mother Nature over it. That's useless that's not going
- 5:47to help me get anywhere. So watch the language around,
- 5:51disappointment look at what's disappointing.
- 5:54You make decisions about it and don't allow it to rule your
- 5:57world and make those choices to put it aside and say, I refuse
- 6:02to keep driving to the town of disappointment every day with my
- 6:04missed expectations. That I put out there in the
- 6:06world because it's foolish and it doesn't help me.
- 6:09So, if that in yourself, watch yourself, go to a whole new
- 6:14level of peace. I hope you guys have a blessed
- 6:17day and I will see you tomorrow. Bye. if that in yourself, watch
- 6:12yourself, go to a whole new level of peace.
- 6:16I hope you guys have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 6:20Bye.
