- 0:12- Welcome to the divine five one five podcast.
- 0:16- Here is today's prayer.
- 0:22- Hello, and welcome to daily prayers with Valerie
- 0:25- Rocha.
- 0:27- Today, we are tackling
- 0:29- what to do when God closes a door.
- 0:32- The scripture text comes from Revelation three seven
- 0:36- and says, what he opens, no
- 0:40- one can shut,
- 0:41- and what he shuts,
- 0:44- no one can open.
- 0:47- Well, you know, we've talked about how closed
- 0:49- doors can feel personal.
- 0:51- I mean, you've prayed and you've prepared and
- 0:54- you've tried and you've believed,
- 0:56- and yet still
- 0:58- nothing happened.
- 1:02- And when something we wanted closes,
- 1:05- it can often lead to disappointment.
- 1:08- And disappointment
- 1:09- can quickly become
- 1:11- the question, why God?
- 1:15- But we often judge a closed door by
- 1:18- what we lost,
- 1:20- but perhaps
- 1:21- a better perspective is to look at it
- 1:24- from a perspective of
- 1:26- the fact that
- 1:27- even though we don't
- 1:29- yet know what God may be protecting us
- 1:32- from
- 1:32- or redirecting us toward,
- 1:36- we can rest assure
- 1:38- that in the process when we trust him,
- 1:41- he's preparing us for something.
- 1:44- Not every closed door is punishment.
- 1:48- Sometimes
- 1:49- it's direction.
- 1:51- So perhaps the question we should be asking
- 1:54- is instead of spending all of our energy
- 1:57- trying to reopen what is closed,
- 2:00- to remember that
- 2:02- prayer helps us ask,
- 2:05- where are you leading me now?
- 2:09- You know, you can breathe a closed door
- 2:11- without camping outside,
- 2:13- and that's where the comfort is.
- 2:17- That being said,
- 2:20- let's lay it on the throne.
- 2:23- Father god, give us peace about the doors
- 2:26- that have closed.
- 2:28- Keep us from forcing what you have not
- 2:31- opened.
- 2:32- Heal our disappointment and redirect our attention toward
- 2:35- where you are leading us now.
- 2:38- We intentionally
- 2:40- trust
- 2:41- your wisdom, and we will bless you in
- 2:43- Jesus' name.
- 2:46- Well, today's kingdom invitation is maybe today's prayer
- 2:49- isn't God reopen the door.
- 2:51- Maybe it should be
- 2:53- or is
- 2:55- God show me where to walk next?
- 2:59- Inside the inner chamber, we're building prayer rhythms
- 3:01- that help us seek God's direction
- 3:04- through real life transitions and difficult seasons.
- 3:08- We'd like to
- 3:10- extend the opportunity to join the community

- 3:16- forward slash free.
- 3:18- And remember,
- 3:20- a closed door doesn't mean God has stopped
- 3:22- moving.
