- 0:05Presenter: In this episode, Behind the scenes of this podcast, part four.
- 0:16Host: Welcome.
- 0:17Host: As usual, I have the creator of Varold, Désirée Nordlund, with me today, represented with an AI voice.
- 0:24Host: Hello Désirée.
- 0:26Host: Hello.
- 0:27Host: How are you today?
- 0:29Host: I'm an AI voice too, and I don't feel much.
- 0:32Host: But thank you for asking.
- 0:34Host: I think we should talk more about the gods in Vargold.
- 0:37Host: There are seven, right?
- 0:39AI-Désirée: Yes, there are seven gods commonly accepted as the Allvaldughers.
- 0:44Host: The Allvaldughers?
- 0:46AI-Désirée: You could translate the Alvaldugers to the Allmighties.
- 0:52AI-Désirée: Blomster, Rödhe, and Farskajaut were the first.
- 0:57AI-Désirée: And they are the gods of creation.
- 1:00AI-Désirée: Then there are Brander, Diup, Avärkan, and Sial, who have different specialities but are more caretakers than creators.
- 1:13AI-Désirée: Sial is the guardian of souls.
- 1:16AI-Désirée: She watches over all spirits between lives.
- 1:20AI-Désirée: She keeps them safe until they are reborn.
- 1:23AI-Désirée: Avärkan is the god of labour.
- 1:26AI-Désirée: He lends humans the strength to bear the burdens needed.
- 1:30Host: That could come in handy.
- 1:33AI-Désirée: Agree.
- 1:33AI-Désirée: Then there is Diup, the goddess of water, and Brander the goddess of fire.
- 1:40Host: The opposites?
- 1:41AI-Désirée: Actually, fire and water are not opposites Väruld, not as they are in our world.
- 1:47AI-Désirée: Then Blomster is the god of plants.
- 1:50AI-Désirée: Rödhe is the goddess of animals born from eggs.
- 1:54AI-Désirée: And Farskajaut is the god of mammals.
- 1:58AI-Désirée: They also created the planets and the humans.
- 2:03Host: When you created these gods, what was your process?
- 2:08AI-Désirée: Oh, that was some time ago now.
- 2:11AI-Désirée: The three gods of creation are three because when you try something new, you often get too much, too little, and then get it right.
- 2:22AI-Désirée: They also go from plants to eggs to mammals.
- 2:26AI-Désirée: That's a story of its own for another time.
- 2:30AI-Désirée: Then I thought about what humans would need gods for.
- 2:35AI-Désirée: Crossing water, water for life and crops, fire contained in a hearth or wildfire.
- 2:44AI-Désirée: And of course, you have a god taking care of the souls between lives.
- 2:50Host: What about Avärkan?
- 2:52AI-Désirée: I figured there is a lot of hard work on a farm, or a mine, or in a bakery, or anywhere.
- 2:59AI-Désirée: Why not a god for that?
- 3:01AI-Désirée: That is a basic human need, like water and warmth.
- 3:07Host: We will have episodes with lore later because this is so fascinating.
- 3:11Host: But we have to end this episode now, unfortunately.
- 3:15AI-Désirée: Thank you for being so interested.
