- 0:01Speaker 1: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:03Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. The World's
- 0:09Speaker 1: a vegeinal podcast Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. I got a
- 0:19Speaker 1: box delivered to my office today. I said, what the
- 0:21Speaker 1: hell is this? It was so it'd be really nice
- 0:24Speaker 1: to hear how you liked them, and how Alex liked
- 0:26Speaker 1: them in particular. I guess Alex is a big user
- 0:29Speaker 1: of soap.
- 0:29Speaker 2: So why did I make the realization that this might
- 0:32Speaker 2: be an ash of ceremony? My good friend Dawn, who's
- 0:34Speaker 2: having the time of his life, cranks the opening to
- 0:37Speaker 2: life in the fast Lane.
- 0:39Speaker 3: I edged a mulch bed yesterday.
- 0:41Speaker 1: It was very satisfying. It's an old house, long story.
- 0:44Speaker 1: They nailed through a part of the house that didn't
- 0:45Speaker 1: have an installation, so the nails came right through into
- 0:48Speaker 1: this closet area, so you know, they didn't know. I
- 0:51Speaker 1: didn't blame them, so I said, I'll fix it. Ex
- 0:53Speaker 1: give me a letter, release me from these mortal coils.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Yes, Father Fred?
- 0:57Speaker 1: Was that a father fredline?
- 0:58Speaker 4: No?
- 0:59Speaker 1: That's Shakespeare's Hamlet.
- 1:00Speaker 3: How you could have you might have heard of him.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Some people don't like to have your soap through another membrane.
- 1:06Speaker 3: This is Patriot's Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website.
- 1:10Speaker 1: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com. All right, welcome
- 1:15Speaker 1: the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here at Jillette Stadium.
- 1:20Speaker 1: It's been hot out there. I don't think they didn't
- 1:24Speaker 1: forecast this one. It just got hot and muggy.
- 1:27Speaker 5: It's the humidity, yeah it is.
- 1:31Speaker 1: It's the humidity, but it's also hot.
- 1:33Speaker 5: And it's humid and hot until like ten pm. Even
- 1:38Speaker 5: at the concerts the last two nights it was it
- 1:40Speaker 5: was sweltering.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Yeah. I'll take the heat over the cold any day.
- 1:45Speaker 6: Even the humidity.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I'm not complaining. I'm just saying it's hot. It is.
- 1:49Speaker 1: It's Alex, it's me, it's Matt and Nabooth. Evan is
- 1:51Speaker 1: still getting married. Deuce is probably down at the Cape right.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I don't know where it is.
- 1:57Speaker 7: His last two days.
- 1:58Speaker 3: He was looking forward to. Told me on Tuesday that
- 2:01Speaker 3: he was not going to be here. Thursday Friday was
- 2:03Speaker 3: his last two days.
- 2:04Speaker 7: That is time ago.
- 2:05Speaker 1: This is it Smoke them while you got them, yep,
- 2:08Speaker 1: you know. So it's the three of us holding down
- 2:11Speaker 1: the fort. We'll be talking all things Patriots and everything
- 2:15Speaker 1: else on this Thursday here at chi Let's Stadium. So
- 2:20Speaker 1: you went to cold Play? I did?
- 2:21Speaker 6: I went Tuesday night?
- 2:22Speaker 1: You went Tuesday night? Were you on the kiss cam
- 2:25Speaker 1: at all? I was not.
- 2:28Speaker 5: Wanted rotten myself into that much trouble if I want.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Do you hear about what's going on there? Who hasn't
- 2:35Speaker 1: two people.
- 2:36Speaker 7: Got things the kids keep me up to.
- 2:38Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, Coldplay did some crowd work the night
- 2:42Speaker 5: I was there too.
- 2:43Speaker 6: Our crown work was a little less eventful, but.
- 2:46Speaker 5: Uh yeah, yeah, you know, it's probably not a great
- 2:50Speaker 5: look to uh be making out with your head of
- 2:54Speaker 5: HR if you're married with kids.
- 2:56Speaker 1: You're the CEO.
- 2:57Speaker 5: And what are the odds of that? Was our stadium
- 3:01Speaker 5: capacity for a concert?
- 3:03Speaker 1: It's going to be sixty Well, it depends on the configuration,
- 3:06Speaker 1: but I think probably had at least fifty thousand last.
- 3:09Speaker 5: Right, you block out the season behind the stage, so
- 3:12Speaker 5: of all people that they could have shined a light on,
- 3:16Speaker 5: I guess that just shows to how affectionate they were.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Pure.
- 3:18Speaker 1: It also shows how many people were having an affair.
- 3:21Speaker 5: To have Chris Martin call out your fair.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Shows that, why not, like it's maybe it's not so random.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Maybe every other person that you show is involved in
- 3:32Speaker 1: some type of thing.
- 3:33Speaker 5: For those who haven't seen the video, a couple was
- 3:37Speaker 5: caught by Cold Play. They're doing crowd work and they
- 3:40Speaker 5: instantly duck out of the screen, and then Chris Martin,
- 3:44Speaker 5: the lead singers, like, oh, they must be having an
- 3:46Speaker 5: affair or they're really shy, and then they kind of
- 3:49Speaker 5: go on with the concert, and then you know, TikTok
- 3:52Speaker 5: did its thing.
- 3:54Speaker 6: They found out what company.
- 3:55Speaker 1: We don't need to talk about what, but yeah, yeah.
- 4:00Speaker 3: That part I don't really like, Yeah, I mean we
- 4:04Speaker 3: all sorry. They showed it to me this morning and
- 4:06Speaker 3: I was like, oh wow, I guess you could make
- 4:08Speaker 3: an argument that they were embarrassed, but then it went
- 4:12Speaker 3: on too long and you're like, no, that's definitely an affair,
- 4:15Speaker 3: but like you don't, like you really.
- 4:16Speaker 7: Have to go and do the research right and out.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Them and make it worse for them, Like if.
- 4:22Speaker 3: He was really having an affair, which clearly he was,
- 4:26Speaker 3: the people that need to know, no, but they people
- 4:29Speaker 3: that know him said no, that ain't just white.
- 4:31Speaker 1: It's bad enough for them. They're not breaking any laws.
- 4:33Speaker 1: So let's let's, you know, let's relax on the you know,
- 4:36Speaker 1: junior detective work.
- 4:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:38Speaker 1: But anyway, so that that was happening, But the concert
- 4:42Speaker 1: was I just.
- 4:43Speaker 5: Chilled and like not drawn attention to themselves. No one
- 4:46Speaker 5: would have posted it, right, I was just like, Oh,
- 4:49Speaker 5: nice cute couple.
- 4:50Speaker 1: How was Coldplay?
- 4:51Speaker 6: Phenomenal?
- 4:52Speaker 5: Yeah, top three show I've ever been to, really top
- 4:55Speaker 5: three shows.
- 4:55Speaker 1: That's high, high praise.
- 4:57Speaker 5: They just have so many like really great songs where
- 5:01Speaker 5: I don't know, it's always been a goal of mine
- 5:03Speaker 5: to go to a cold Play show since middle school.
- 5:06Speaker 5: I've they have like three of my favorite songs ever
- 5:10Speaker 5: in existence, So I don't know, they just they put
- 5:13Speaker 5: on a great show. The production was amazing. It was
- 5:17Speaker 5: like almost like Taylor Swift caliber to me, production level wise.
- 5:22Speaker 5: But they just have so many great songs, and you
- 5:26Speaker 5: have the really like slow jams that are like these
- 5:28Speaker 5: beautiful ballads, and then you have these like Calvin Harris
- 5:32Speaker 5: like house hits that the whole place was just rocking
- 5:36Speaker 5: and dancing and it was awesome.
- 5:38Speaker 6: Yeah, post concert depression.
- 5:40Speaker 3: I'm trying to figure out if I know three cold
- 5:42Speaker 3: Play songs.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I'm sure you do.
- 5:44Speaker 5: You definitely do if you heard that. Yeah, so definitely
- 5:47Speaker 5: Vata yellow.
- 5:50Speaker 7: And there's a.
- 5:52Speaker 5: Sky full of Stars something just like this?
- 5:55Speaker 3: Is that a song?
- 5:56Speaker 7: That's a song just like this?
- 5:57Speaker 5: Yeah, just like this.
- 5:58Speaker 3: So there's two I know.
- 6:02Speaker 7: The names of songs.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Yeah, like I know that that yellow is a song.
- 6:06Speaker 3: I think clocks might be a so I don't know
- 6:09Speaker 3: the songs though he.
- 6:11Speaker 5: Didn't play They didn't play talk, which was the one
- 6:13Speaker 5: thing I was a little sad about early one.
- 6:16Speaker 6: But kind of a deep cut.
- 6:19Speaker 7: All right, well did you go, Freddy? No, that sounds
- 6:22Speaker 7: like a show that you would have been.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Interested now, too hot, too many people.
- 6:28Speaker 3: You don't have to be that. You don't have to
- 6:30Speaker 3: be with the hoy ploy would have been in the
- 6:32Speaker 3: suite or something.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Come on, No, I don't need it.
- 6:36Speaker 3: But you're not a huge there.
- 6:37Speaker 1: There's very few bands that I'm willing to go to
- 6:41Speaker 1: a big concert for these days.
- 6:43Speaker 3: But now that we're no longer added on Sunday nights,
- 6:45Speaker 3: you can do that. Yeah, that was a classic fred
- 6:48Speaker 3: The police were at Fenway Park.
- 6:50Speaker 7: We used to have to do all the work on
- 6:51Speaker 7: the on the paper.
- 6:52Speaker 1: It's a pre season.
- 6:53Speaker 3: Game after you know, after the game was over, you
- 6:56Speaker 3: know on a Sunday night. Yeah, you guys got which
- 7:03Speaker 3: No one cared about what we just like to bust
- 7:05Speaker 3: his balls over.
- 7:06Speaker 1: No, it was it was cool police on Fenway, you know,
- 7:09Speaker 1: Fenway Park. It was. It was a great show.
- 7:11Speaker 6: I'm sure it was a cool venue.
- 7:13Speaker 1: And they're good at musicians, they're really good musicians, so
- 7:17Speaker 1: it was. It was a good show. I think the
- 7:20Speaker 1: last concert I went to I went to the jay
- 7:25Speaker 1: Z Beyonce one Beyonce. Yeah, was that the last concert
- 7:31Speaker 1: I've been to two years ago? It might be. I
- 7:34Speaker 1: think it was longer than two years ago.
- 7:37Speaker 3: We're going to continue our little pop culture segment here
- 7:39Speaker 3: to open the show. See that story about Beyonce like
- 7:44Speaker 3: choreographer or someone getting a case stolen out of their
- 7:48Speaker 3: car that had supposedly never released footage songs, never released
- 7:54Speaker 3: works for Beyonce, No.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Really supposedly stolen.
- 7:58Speaker 7: Well, yeah, sometimes it.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Doesn't pass my sniff test. That's why I brought it up. Yeah,
- 8:03Speaker 3: I don't know exactly why, so you guys can you know,
- 8:07Speaker 3: I don't have a specific thing.
- 8:09Speaker 1: It just did they get released? No, so maybe it
- 8:13Speaker 1: was If they get released, then it was probably a
- 8:15Speaker 1: setup for publicity.
- 8:17Speaker 7: Well, that's where I think it's heading something like that.
- 8:19Speaker 3: I don't know exactly how, but it just doesn't seem
- 8:23Speaker 3: like why would the choreographer have something that was so
- 8:29Speaker 3: like specifically special to Beyonce that it was.
- 8:34Speaker 6: Charlie's music.
- 8:35Speaker 7: Yeah, it doesn't really make sense to me.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, but maybe it's just just you know, coincidence.
- 8:43Speaker 1: But anything going on Patriots to cover before.
- 8:47Speaker 3: We uh continue Patriots whise we might? I mean nothing
- 8:51Speaker 3: specific right now, I think we could. I think Mike
- 8:53Speaker 3: mentioned on Tuesday we could get some news. I would
- 8:55Speaker 3: think tomorrow with people starting to the big.
- 8:59Speaker 1: News tomorrow is that episode two of Forge and Foxborough
- 9:02Speaker 1: gets dropped.
- 9:03Speaker 6: Highly anticipated.
- 9:04Speaker 3: I'll be remiss if I didn't include out at the
- 9:06Speaker 3: top of the that's the big news tomorrow.
- 9:08Speaker 1: But as you said, guys are arriving starting tomorrow.
- 9:12Speaker 3: I do want to apologize to everyone. I was not
- 9:15Speaker 3: able to be part of this episode because I was
- 9:17Speaker 3: on vacation when they needed me, So I apologize in advance.
- 9:21Speaker 3: It's still well worth watching episode two dropping tomorrow.
- 9:25Speaker 1: We were thinking it's sending a crew to the golf
- 9:27Speaker 1: course where you were, but.
- 9:31Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 9:32Speaker 3: I have no idea where I was, but I was
- 9:33Speaker 3: like the whole segment.
- 9:37Speaker 7: I got attack any change you could be in tomorrow?
- 9:38Speaker 1: Yeah, no, Paul teeing off. Yeah, I think Rabel's gonna
- 9:42Speaker 1: have it, obviously.
- 9:47Speaker 7: I'm kidding.
- 9:48Speaker 5: I don't understand how people thought we were releasing that
- 9:51Speaker 5: every week. Like I like to read through.
- 9:53Speaker 6: The comments of our stuff sometimes.
- 9:55Speaker 5: And people were like, what happened to every single week?
- 9:57Speaker 5: And it was like, when did we ever say that
- 9:59Speaker 5: we're probably will we be what content would we be?
- 10:02Speaker 1: Probably another fan at the time we release episode once
- 10:05Speaker 1: it oh, they're great, this is gonna be like Hard Knocks.
- 10:08Speaker 1: And somebody read that, and hard Knocks is every week,
- 10:10Speaker 1: and so they took what the fans said is what
- 10:12Speaker 1: was happening.
- 10:13Speaker 6: Yes, someone ran with that.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Yeah, No, we don't have a staff like NFL Films
- 10:18Speaker 1: to do this.
- 10:19Speaker 5: Every week, right and like, the guys haven't been here.
- 10:22Speaker 5: What would we be even covering right now?
- 10:25Speaker 1: Right right now? Nothing? But it's gonna get it's gonna
- 10:29Speaker 1: heat up. It's gonna heat up next week. Yeah, twenty third,
- 10:34Speaker 1: our first show, our first live show. We're gonna be
- 10:37Speaker 1: out there covering the first day of public practice. So
- 10:42Speaker 1: can't wait for that.
- 10:43Speaker 3: I can't believe it's here already. I know, less than
- 10:46Speaker 3: a week tough.
- 10:48Speaker 5: I did see ESPN came out with their lists that
- 10:50Speaker 5: they do where they kind of anonymously like gms and
- 10:56Speaker 5: like team executives, like who they're top ten because by
- 11:00Speaker 5: position he had, Gonzo.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Finally got some some love. Well, I mean it's not
- 11:04Speaker 3: the first one, but it's the most significant. Gonzo was
- 11:07Speaker 3: I believe six.
- 11:08Speaker 5: Six I think, And someone said they think he's probably
- 11:10Speaker 5: like the next Patrick's retain.
- 11:12Speaker 6: So that's kind of cool.
- 11:13Speaker 3: So that you know, you asked, you know, Patriots News,
- 11:16Speaker 3: I would say that's probably the newest bit of information help.
- 11:19Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, that's good.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Uh, you know, good for Gonzo to be recognized, you know,
- 11:25Speaker 3: after having a solid year two.
- 11:28Speaker 1: I kind of like it when he was under the radar.
- 11:30Speaker 1: Now he's like now you you get on these lists
- 11:34Speaker 1: and expectations, expectations. Yeah, you know, not that they shouldn't.
- 11:38Speaker 3: You think he's not going to live up to his expectation. No,
- 11:40Speaker 3: I just curse Colin, No I sold on Gonzales.
- 11:44Speaker 1: I just I like, you know, working with the freedom
- 11:48Speaker 1: of not having them. But I guess that's what comes
- 11:51Speaker 1: with being one of the best at his craft.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I mean he was a second team All Pro.
- 11:55Speaker 1: I know.
- 11:56Speaker 3: I don't think really think he's under the radar. He
- 11:58Speaker 3: had played one full season and he was a second
- 12:00Speaker 3: team all I know.
- 12:01Speaker 1: But now he's getting on these lists and everything.
- 12:03Speaker 5: Also, like after I think it was his first game
- 12:07Speaker 5: where no, maybe we didn't play Miami. We played Miami
- 12:09Speaker 5: early in the season his first season, and Tyreek Hill
- 12:12Speaker 5: was on podcasts that next week really hyping him up, saying,
- 12:15Speaker 5: like the rookie is I remember that night.
- 12:18Speaker 7: It was a Sunday night game week two.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, we knew that already. L L from Wisconsin
- 12:25Speaker 1: has a quick question. Who took the bigger risk you
- 12:27Speaker 1: for hiring Paul or Paul for coming to work for you.
- 12:30Speaker 1: I think that's a that's an awesome Paul for coming
- 12:33Speaker 1: to work here. Definitely the bigger risks.
- 12:35Speaker 7: But I love the email because it's very topical.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Yeah, you know that that whole thing with the owner
- 12:42Speaker 1: in Belichick. Both of what they say is true, but
- 12:47Speaker 1: there's a lot of yeah butts would both of these say,
- 12:50Speaker 1: and so Belichick took his chances at the big Yeah,
- 12:53Speaker 1: butts with what Craft said, you know, yeah, there's a
- 12:57Speaker 1: lot of yeah butt. But with Belichick there's a lot
- 13:00Speaker 1: of yeah butts too. I like how he says, you know,
- 13:04Speaker 1: I had to straighten out their financial stuff and they
- 13:07Speaker 1: were the lowest in cash spending over the last twenty years.
- 13:10Speaker 1: But he also says that when he got there, they
- 13:12Speaker 1: were ten million over the cap, you know, spending like
- 13:15Speaker 1: drunken sailors. Like he had a lot to do with
- 13:18Speaker 1: not spending as much as Craft did when he was here.
- 13:20Speaker 1: You know, like locker room hierarchy in terms of contracts
- 13:26Speaker 1: was very important to Belichick.
- 13:27Speaker 3: So I liked the you know, I had a lot
- 13:29Speaker 3: of people telling me, a lot of you know, a
- 13:31Speaker 3: lot of former coaches telling me.
- 13:33Speaker 1: I guess who wonder that.
- 13:35Speaker 3: I wonder who might have told him it might not
- 13:37Speaker 3: be a great job to take, right right.
- 13:39Speaker 5: I feel like that didn't really need This is no
- 13:43Speaker 5: disrespect to Belichick, but I feel like he didn't need
- 13:45Speaker 5: to clap back at that. I don't think Robert was
- 13:48Speaker 5: really disrespectful at all.
- 13:49Speaker 1: I think it was actually I think he didn't mean
- 13:51Speaker 1: it to be disrespectful. I think he was asked the question,
- 13:54Speaker 1: what was your in your opinion, your biggest move. Yeah,
- 13:58Speaker 1: And I think the biggest move he made as head
- 14:03Speaker 1: as owner was giving up a first round pick for
- 14:08Speaker 1: a coach who had no success as a head coach
- 14:11Speaker 1: so far.
- 14:12Speaker 5: And Robert ended the thought with saying, and he ended
- 14:16Speaker 5: up with us for twenty something years. So I think
- 14:18Speaker 5: it turned out pretty good.
- 14:19Speaker 6: And he's giving.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Himself credit for which is fine, But that's the whole
- 14:23Speaker 1: point of what was your best move? So I get that.
- 14:28Speaker 1: So like I kind of agree, like it really wasn't
- 14:31Speaker 1: necessary to clap back. I don't think it was, you know,
- 14:34Speaker 1: but like, there's no doubt it was a risk for
- 14:37Speaker 1: both of them.
- 14:38Speaker 7: Can I run the risk of being the homer here
- 14:41Speaker 7: like she was?
- 14:41Speaker 3: It was a far greater risk for Craft, I think,
- 14:44Speaker 3: And I think everything Belichick said was probably factually correct, right,
- 14:48Speaker 3: He had some risk too. You don't often get more
- 14:51Speaker 3: than two chances, so he had to choose wisely that
- 14:53Speaker 3: second time around. Well, I'm not I don't think anything
- 14:56Speaker 3: that Bill said was wrong, but it was a far
- 14:59Speaker 3: bigger risk think on on Robert's part because of the
- 15:04Speaker 3: reputation that Belichick.
- 15:05Speaker 7: Had at the time.
- 15:06Speaker 1: You guys were killing everybody.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Was killing on right. You know, my guy, one of
- 15:11Speaker 3: my favorite guys who's ever covered the Patriots is Kevin Mannings.
- 15:13Speaker 3: I've said this few million times, called him duplicit as
- 15:16Speaker 3: Ponds gone Belichick. Yes, yes, that was the reaction of
- 15:21Speaker 3: hiring this guy who had just sort of had this
- 15:23Speaker 3: public meltdown, you know, in walking away from the Jets.
- 15:28Speaker 3: His track forget all all of that, his track record
- 15:31Speaker 3: was with the Browns was not good. No, there were
- 15:34Speaker 3: a lot of people that didn't think that was a
- 15:35Speaker 3: good hire, and that was a big risk. And to
- 15:37Speaker 3: not only hire him, but to do so having to
- 15:41Speaker 3: give up everything they had to give up just to
- 15:42Speaker 3: get the rights to him.
- 15:44Speaker 7: Yep, it was a lot of risk that assume.
- 15:47Speaker 1: So yeah, I, like Paul said, both of what they
- 15:51Speaker 1: said is all factually correct. But like Alex said, I
- 15:54Speaker 1: don't think it was necessary to Yeah a little bit.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Well it's a little.
- 16:01Speaker 7: Bit you disrespect him a little bit.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Yeah. So anyway, Yeah, but good email by Elle to
- 16:08Speaker 1: bring that up contextually.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Yeah, but yes, I took the bigger risk.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Yeah, Mowen New York and had got already made star
- 16:19Speaker 1: Mowen New York and Vermont about the Beyonce thing. The
- 16:23Speaker 1: reason I wrote in is because of the stolen case
- 16:25Speaker 1: out of Beyonce's ch choreographer's car. The reason Paul's spidey
- 16:31Speaker 1: sense is tingling is because something like eighty percent of
- 16:34Speaker 1: these things are inside jobs. That's what fact. It happened
- 16:37Speaker 1: to em and m ears perking up in the other room.
- 16:41Speaker 1: A year ago, a long time trusted employee stole unreleased
- 16:44Speaker 1: music from a safe in the studio, ultimately came to
- 16:47Speaker 1: a conclusion when the FBI caught him red handed trying
- 16:51Speaker 1: to sell it.
- 16:51Speaker 3: Yeah, this is either one of two things. One might
- 16:54Speaker 3: be what you said the first thing, which is like,
- 16:56Speaker 3: you know, Beyonce's not quite I mean not just it's
- 16:59Speaker 3: not a big deal, but not quite what she once was.
- 17:02Speaker 3: I don't think the country thing sort of hit with everybody, right,
- 17:06Speaker 3: So it might be an effort to you know, kind
- 17:08Speaker 3: of like that washed up soap star like that goes
- 17:10Speaker 3: in and someone planted it, Ah Dad, Alex Francisco and everybody.
- 17:16Speaker 6: It's like how celebrities call the paparazzis on themselves.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Correct, they drum up some hype. Or it could just
- 17:21Speaker 3: be the inside job, which was the first thing. That
- 17:23Speaker 3: I thought of is that, Yeah, because I don't know.
- 17:26Speaker 5: What stealing and trying to sell it.
- 17:28Speaker 3: I don't know how you can sell it, Like you'd
- 17:30Speaker 3: have to sell it to someone who never wants to.
- 17:33Speaker 6: There's a market. How do you monitor you just playing
- 17:35Speaker 6: black market for everything?
- 17:37Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 17:37Speaker 3: Right, you have to get someone that's not ever planning
- 17:39Speaker 3: on producing it, because then they're just gonna get caught.
- 17:43Speaker 9: When the engineer stole eminem stuff, he sold it to
- 17:45Speaker 9: a third party who then put it out as like
- 17:47Speaker 9: a mixtape one hundred and twenty unreleased songs.
- 17:50Speaker 1: But how do they You can't make any money off
- 17:53Speaker 1: of it. The DJ started selling that stuff and then
- 17:56Speaker 1: I got it.
- 17:56Speaker 7: That's how they got caught.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, you can't start selling it and get away
- 18:01Speaker 1: with it.
- 18:02Speaker 7: Yeah that's my point.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Yeah, but yeah, like it was something like what the
- 18:07Speaker 3: email I just said, like it just didn't pass the
- 18:10Speaker 3: sniff test. It seemed like an inside kind of thing
- 18:12Speaker 3: or you know, I think Fred has something that could
- 18:16Speaker 3: be even more like just it was intentional to drum
- 18:19Speaker 3: up more publicity as they're getting get ready to.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Then she gets them back and it's like, okay, I'll
- 18:25Speaker 1: release them, you know, let's see Ryan and Quincy wide
- 18:30Speaker 1: receiver talk. Wants to talk about Terry McLaurin. Personally, I
- 18:35Speaker 1: think our wide receiver room already looks better than last year,
- 18:38Speaker 1: but adding a guy like scary Terry would take it
- 18:41Speaker 1: to another level. What's the most you'd be willing to
- 18:44Speaker 1: trade to bring him in? I know this been talked about.
- 18:48Speaker 1: I think the Commanders would be absolutely crazy to get
- 18:51Speaker 1: rid of him, Like you're on, like you got something
- 18:54Speaker 1: going here? Why would you do that at this time?
- 18:58Speaker 3: I think that would be stupid unless he's to the
- 19:00Speaker 3: point where he just does not want to play there
- 19:02Speaker 3: anymore and he's going to cause a problem, and it's
- 19:04Speaker 3: one of the wis like Miami just did with Jalen Ramsey,
- 19:07Speaker 3: like well, he's not going to play for us, we
- 19:09Speaker 3: might as well get something.
- 19:09Speaker 1: But if he doesn't want to play there because of money,
- 19:11Speaker 1: give him the money.
- 19:12Speaker 7: No, I would too.
- 19:13Speaker 5: Yeah, And I feel like it has to be money,
- 19:15Speaker 5: because why wouldn't. They're a really young, exciting team with
- 19:17Speaker 5: a really promising quarterback. I can't imagine it being anything
- 19:20Speaker 5: but money.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Well, he wants to ownership, and I mean, yeah, quarterbacks
- 19:24Speaker 1: on a rookie quarterback. Now's the time to give it
- 19:27Speaker 1: back on a rookie quarterback. Yeah, I mean a rookie contract.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Rookie contract, but that is uh, you know you were
- 19:35Speaker 3: looking for other Patriots related items. That's another one. I
- 19:38Speaker 3: think Albert Breer had an item saying that the Patriots
- 19:42Speaker 3: had interest, but you know it was definitely couched, you know,
- 19:46Speaker 3: if in fact he would be available, which tells me
- 19:50Speaker 3: that it's really not really been any Yeah, well yet,
- 19:54Speaker 3: so yeah, i'd i'd be absolutely interested in getting Terry McLaurin.
- 19:58Speaker 3: And yes, the wide receiver room is better than it
- 20:00Speaker 3: was last year, but not bye by much.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Well, it's it's really all the same people with digs.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Well I would count Kyle Williams as in a group,
- 20:11Speaker 3: but like I don't like, I'm just going by last year. Well,
- 20:15Speaker 3: they had a second round wide receiver last year coming
- 20:18Speaker 3: in that everybody was was high on too, So I'm
- 20:20Speaker 3: not going to get lost in the third round pick
- 20:22Speaker 3: and Kyle Williams until he's actually that. You know, everybody
- 20:26Speaker 3: last spring told me that Jalen Polk was x Y
- 20:29Speaker 3: and he'll be fine, he'll be fine, and I didn't
- 20:32Speaker 3: see it. Got mocked and ridiculed as I want to
- 20:35Speaker 3: do Alex that's want with an oh want yes, yeah,
- 20:41Speaker 3: the glossary yes.
- 20:44Speaker 7: But I would, I would.
- 20:46Speaker 3: We talked a little bit on Tuesday about what would
- 20:48Speaker 3: we give up for McLaurin.
- 20:50Speaker 7: I I would go all in on that one.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Give a first.
- 20:54Speaker 3: I'd give it first if I had to.
- 20:55Speaker 6: I mean, obviously you would you if you wanted to
- 20:58Speaker 6: do it, because.
- 20:59Speaker 3: And I would give him an that's part of the deal.
- 21:02Speaker 3: But I don't want to do this as like a rental.
- 21:04Speaker 3: I want I want him. I think he's a really,
- 21:06Speaker 3: really good player.
- 21:07Speaker 1: What do you think about the Jets? They give Wilson
- 21:10Speaker 1: the contract, then the next day they give saus Gardner
- 21:13Speaker 1: the contract.
- 21:14Speaker 7: They're very Unjets like.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but they're trying to send the message to their team.
- 21:18Speaker 1: In fan base, we're all in, I guess.
- 21:20Speaker 3: So, Yeah, the drama has been down for the Jets,
- 21:24Speaker 3: and I don't know if this is I'm going to
- 21:25Speaker 3: give Aaron Glenn credit until I see them play and
- 21:27Speaker 3: then they look like the same old Jets, right, But
- 21:30Speaker 3: until then, I'm going to give him credit because this
- 21:32Speaker 3: has been a very atypical Jets offseason.
- 21:35Speaker 5: Truly.
- 21:36Speaker 1: Uh, Todd has a little of the good old Who Slash?
- 21:42Speaker 1: What is the best Who Slashed? The off season edition?
- 21:47Speaker 1: Robin Williams or Tom Hanks as an actor.
- 21:51Speaker 7: Wow, that's totally different kinds.
- 21:55Speaker 1: I think Tom Hanks has had better role.
- 21:57Speaker 3: I think Tom Hanks is probably a better actor. I
- 22:01Speaker 3: think Robin Williams is probably a more talented individual.
- 22:04Speaker 5: Just played some really beloved characters too.
- 22:07Speaker 1: But into my head, Eric or Andy as host for
- 22:11Speaker 1: the post game Andy Andy? Okay? In ground pool or
- 22:18Speaker 1: beach house.
- 22:22Speaker 6: Beach house yeah, Italian, beach investment.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I take the beach.
- 22:25Speaker 7: I want beach house.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Like my dream is to go to bed listening to
- 22:29Speaker 1: the way. Yes, like I'll never I'll never.
- 22:31Speaker 5: Get some French stores or like sliders that you can
- 22:34Speaker 5: have a screen, have that breeze come in.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Give me that all day? Yeah? Italian or Chinese food?
- 22:42Speaker 6: Italian?
- 22:43Speaker 7: Oh, Italian.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Deuce or Paul as a ping pong partner.
- 22:49Speaker 7: Deuce, I'm going to guess that he's good at that.
- 22:51Speaker 5: I feel like Deuce would be very surprisingly, really good ping.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Pong, probably like one of his cousins.
- 22:56Speaker 7: I really like playing ping pong, But I.
- 22:59Speaker 5: Feel like the hawk sticks skill set stick handling might
- 23:03Speaker 5: transfer well to ping pong.
- 23:05Speaker 3: I just feel like Deuce is good at all of
- 23:06Speaker 3: those sort of corky.
- 23:08Speaker 6: Things and athletic.
- 23:09Speaker 1: And this one's a layup Alex or Evan as your
- 23:15Speaker 1: super Bowl party coordinator. It's gotta be Alex. I mean
- 23:18Speaker 1: Evan would be like what would he.
- 23:20Speaker 6: Do in another life? I think I would party right right?
- 23:25Speaker 1: Yeah? Fred or Paul on Jeopardy. Oh that's Paul god Jeopardy. Yeah,
- 23:31Speaker 1: you'd kill me.
- 23:32Speaker 7: It's not Patriots Jeopardy. U way more than I do.
- 23:36Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm not I'm not quick, that's true.
- 23:41Speaker 6: Half of it is bringing the buzzer.
- 23:42Speaker 3: I do really like Jeopardy, But in fairness, I would
- 23:46Speaker 3: I have a flame out.
- 23:47Speaker 1: I forget to say that what is and who is? Yeah?
- 23:51Speaker 5: Or you would just you would have the right answer
- 23:53Speaker 5: in your head. But what comes that.
- 23:55Speaker 7: Happens to me?
- 23:56Speaker 1: I have my problem. I have that issue.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Like I'll look at Beth and I'll say, well, that's
- 24:01Speaker 3: what I meant, and she knows like when I'm yes,
- 24:04Speaker 3: like actually I was, I was on it, but I
- 24:06Speaker 3: don't say the right thing.
- 24:07Speaker 6: Yeah, you guys have that thing going on too.
- 24:10Speaker 7: There was one.
- 24:11Speaker 5: You speak Fred, and Fred speaks Paul.
- 24:15Speaker 3: I think you would beat me in jeopardy. I think
- 24:16Speaker 3: you have a far greater breath of knowledge than I. Well,
- 24:20Speaker 3: Eric would be a little about it lot, Come on, right,
- 24:22Speaker 3: I know a little about a lot. If Fred knows everything, I.
- 24:25Speaker 1: Don't know about that, Matt or Alex in the booth
- 24:29Speaker 1: when an earthquake occurs in the booth you mean like
- 24:34Speaker 1: a broadcast.
- 24:34Speaker 10: Booth or that booth like oh the other Okay, oh Matt,
- 24:43Speaker 10: I mean no, no disrespect to Alex, but I want
- 24:45Speaker 10: the experience.
- 24:46Speaker 5: I was first.
- 24:47Speaker 1: We should call him, just call him by his name,
- 24:49Speaker 1: A everybody's called him since we were kids. Plus, if
- 24:53Speaker 1: it's an earthquake, I want to I want to be
- 24:55Speaker 1: with marine, you know, lead me to safety.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, you know what.
- 24:59Speaker 7: I yeah, we don't want East.
- 25:04Speaker 5: Yeah, that's no offense to Alex. I just think Mass
- 25:06Speaker 5: probably been trained in these.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Absolutely. I like the game though, Robin the Pacific Northwest.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Let's just say Drake plays as well as Matt Castle.
- 25:22Speaker 1: What is the Patriots record.
- 25:24Speaker 7: As well as Matt Castle?
- 25:26Speaker 1: Eight and nine?
- 25:28Speaker 3: Ish? Yeah? Yeah, yeah.
- 25:30Speaker 7: They don't have the kind of roster that they.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Had for Matt Castle, it might even might even might
- 25:35Speaker 1: not even be that good. Yeah, yeah, yeah, And then
- 25:39Speaker 1: you can say, well, what do you think the Patriots
- 25:40Speaker 1: record is? And that's about what I think the Patriots
- 25:43Speaker 1: will be with Drake May too, So I you know,
- 25:45Speaker 1: it's kind of caught me there.
- 25:48Speaker 5: Six or seven.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, let's see Barton poland why does Paul think
- 25:58Speaker 1: that Terry McLaurin would cost a firs. He's thirty and
- 26:01Speaker 1: while a great wide receiver close to the top ten
- 26:04Speaker 1: to fifteen range than top five. Twenty seven year old
- 26:07Speaker 1: DK Metcalf went for a second. AJ Brown went for
- 26:10Speaker 1: a first, but he was twenty five at the time.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Twenty eight year old Tyreek Hill went for a late
- 26:15Speaker 1: first and additional picks, but he was probably the best
- 26:17Speaker 1: wide receiver in football at that time. The point is
- 26:21Speaker 1: that the trade values of players are almost never what
- 26:23Speaker 1: we think they are. I think McLaurin goes for a second,
- 26:27Speaker 1: and even a third wouldn't surprise me.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Okay, bart is very much right about trade values are
- 26:32Speaker 3: never what you think they are. Yeah, were always a
- 26:34Speaker 3: little bit less. I think that's a good rule of thumb.
- 26:37Speaker 3: I would just say that he's more AJ Brown than
- 26:40Speaker 3: DK Metcalf. He's a better player than DK Metcalf by
- 26:44Speaker 3: a lot in my view, just.
- 26:49Speaker 7: My view, yep.
- 26:50Speaker 3: And his age is accurate. AJ Brown was much younger
- 26:54Speaker 3: than McLaurin at the time of the potential trade. But yeah,
- 26:59Speaker 3: I mean I think probably a second at minimum, all right,
- 27:03Speaker 3: But i'd be But the question was what would you
- 27:05Speaker 3: be willing to give up? And I would say first,
- 27:07Speaker 3: if that's what it takes, Like, I think a lot
- 27:11Speaker 3: of the player and I would I would give up
- 27:14Speaker 3: the significant resource to get them.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Travis in West Virginia says, or asks, can we impose
- 27:22Speaker 1: a moratorium on listeners asking where to eat, where to stay,
- 27:26Speaker 1: what to do? Have these people not heard of the internet?
- 27:30Speaker 1: Kind of a good point, but they But sometimes you
- 27:33Speaker 1: want an opinion of someone who you kind of know,
- 27:36Speaker 1: and people kind of know us.
- 27:38Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Yeah, a word of mouth or.
- 27:40Speaker 7: A fred or even.
- 27:45Speaker 6: From last week.
- 27:47Speaker 3: But if Alex thinks like a certain restaurant is worth
- 27:50Speaker 3: going to, I think that that would speak more than
- 27:53Speaker 3: if I did, because Alex has a much more sophisticated
- 27:57Speaker 3: palette than I do.
- 27:58Speaker 6: It depends who's asking to you.
- 28:01Speaker 3: No, that's true. You know, that's all that will be.
- 28:02Speaker 3: A friend who's asking.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Also, Travis, as I want to do, says, I would
- 28:08Speaker 1: like to point out that the Pew Newsletter Email of
- 28:10Speaker 1: the Week was once again a thirteen thousand word essay,
- 28:13Speaker 1: which should automatically disqualify it. Well, that definitely disqualifies it
- 28:18Speaker 1: from being read on the show. But yeah, hey, you
- 28:22Speaker 1: don't have to read it if you don't want to write.
- 28:24Speaker 3: I mean, but everybody reads it. The numbers are what
- 28:27Speaker 3: the numbers are.
- 28:27Speaker 1: I'm talking about the week.
- 28:29Speaker 6: It's the email of the week.
- 28:30Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, okay, well I'm waiting for some quip.
- 28:38Speaker 5: No, I'm moving on forwards me good emails and we
- 28:42Speaker 5: pick one.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, I try. I was, I was asking how that.
- 28:47Speaker 3: I was sort of wondering how that that's determined.
- 28:49Speaker 1: On Friday, she says, you got an email of the week,
- 28:52Speaker 1: and then I go, shoot, I haven't done it yet.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Then I go back to all the emails. You get stuck,
- 28:57Speaker 1: and I sometimes I scan them on and I just
- 29:00Speaker 1: send what.
- 29:00Speaker 5: Sometimes in the moment he'll send one my way on
- 29:03Speaker 5: like a Tuesday and be like, good potential.
- 29:05Speaker 7: For Yeah, that's see, that's what you should do.
- 29:07Speaker 1: That's what I should do.
- 29:08Speaker 7: That's what you should like. You know what, when you
- 29:10Speaker 7: see it.
- 29:11Speaker 1: You want to take that over. No, okay, I'm.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Taking enough the season. I'm already on it.
- 29:18Speaker 6: I'm ranting again today.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Let's see, let's go to the hotline eight five five
- 29:25Speaker 1: pats five hundred. Deshaun's in Virginia. What's up to Shawn?
- 29:30Speaker 11: Oh god, how you guys doing? Confident?
- 29:32Speaker 1: Okay?
- 29:34Speaker 11: Good good? I'm the one that play about to find that.
- 29:37Speaker 11: It's my beat I have with faith for right now,
- 29:41Speaker 11: it's like this awful of dialogue about Jarry mccon potentially
- 29:46Speaker 11: coming here because I have to fish this descrivors resisting
- 29:49Speaker 11: it's some problem to the point they won't be least
- 29:51Speaker 11: competitive enough at least do over enough for the defense
- 29:54Speaker 11: that people expect them to have. It's not happening, guys.
- 29:57Speaker 11: I's kind of like, see, hell, you guys, whatever the
- 30:00Speaker 11: page that I do want to shoot number of kids
- 30:01Speaker 11: they have to go out and actually draft one, And
- 30:04Speaker 11: you know, I get in that they won't be able
- 30:05Speaker 11: to get one this year. So I was basically thinking,
- 30:08Speaker 11: like they won't probably be as bad enough to get
- 30:12Speaker 11: at first or get a top ten fit come next draft.
- 30:16Speaker 11: But I was thinking, like they may have to sacrifice
- 30:19Speaker 11: twenty twenty seventh first round picked. I didn't want to
- 30:21Speaker 11: move to try to get a Stoker receiver, and this
- 30:25Speaker 11: coming year's draft that's twenty six because they're not gonna
- 30:27Speaker 11: get one because of find out that the wide receiver
- 30:29Speaker 11: box would be like full of Ward's tired or like
- 30:32Speaker 11: looking at for a time at home if you look
- 30:34Speaker 11: at the receiver op gonna be on next year in
- 30:37Speaker 11: free agency. That's all I have to say.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Okay, thanks, I just would push back a little bit
- 30:43Speaker 3: on how high you have to pick to get the
- 30:45Speaker 3: number one receiver.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I mean, there's one plenty a second. You just got
- 30:48Speaker 1: to pick the right one, right.
- 30:49Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, but I think that that position in general.
- 30:55Speaker 7: Is really blowing up in college.
- 30:57Speaker 3: I think we're getting to the point where it's like
- 30:59Speaker 3: four or five I've you know, as many as eight
- 31:02Speaker 3: quality receivers are getting taken almost every draft.
- 31:05Speaker 7: Yep, you know, is Nico Collins a number one receiver?
- 31:10Speaker 1: Should be? Yeah?
- 31:12Speaker 3: You know, just right off the top of my head,
- 31:14Speaker 3: Pooka Nakou as a number one receiver And okay, those
- 31:16Speaker 3: guys are anomalies when you know, I think Nicou is
- 31:18Speaker 3: like a fifth round pick. Okay, granted, but do you
- 31:21Speaker 3: have to pick in the top ten?
- 31:23Speaker 1: No?
- 31:24Speaker 3: Not and he does it have to be elite neighbors
- 31:26Speaker 3: or can it be Brian Thomas who was like in
- 31:28Speaker 3: the middle of the round, right, Bryan Thomas had a
- 31:30Speaker 3: really good rookie year.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Yeah. I think the point is is more and more
- 31:33Speaker 1: good receivers being cultivated in college.
- 31:37Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, so it's.
- 31:38Speaker 1: College is not just a running game.
- 31:40Speaker 3: You a point you got to identify. You know, Aladdin McConkey,
- 31:44Speaker 3: you know, early second round.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Pick, right, All you got to do is listen to me,
- 31:48Speaker 1: listen to friends.
- 31:49Speaker 3: So maybe he's not a number one receiver. Maybe he's
- 31:52Speaker 3: not the traditional number one receiver, but there are really
- 31:54Speaker 3: good players that get taken at different spots. You don't
- 31:58Speaker 3: have to pick the best receiver in the top you know,
- 32:01Speaker 3: Jamar Chase went five overall.
- 32:03Speaker 7: I get it, but the.
- 32:05Speaker 3: Hype doesn't always see the second round, right.
- 32:07Speaker 5: And then Marvin Harrison Junior, maybe he will pan out
- 32:12Speaker 5: to be an amazing receiver. But I think the expectation
- 32:14Speaker 5: him coming to the league, I don't know if he
- 32:16Speaker 5: lived up to it, But.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Those guys were all really high picks, right, But they're
- 32:20Speaker 3: not the only really good receivers that came out of
- 32:23Speaker 3: that class. You know, Neighbors Harrison Thomas. Who's the other
- 32:29Speaker 3: one that I'm forgetting?
- 32:32Speaker 1: Harrison? Oh, you said, Harrison?
- 32:33Speaker 7: Yeah, I forget now.
- 32:34Speaker 3: But just in general, I think that the receiver position
- 32:38Speaker 3: is going to get you anywhere between five and ten
- 32:41Speaker 3: really good players every draft.
- 32:43Speaker 7: Fred's right, The trick is to find one.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Yeah, Jason wants to know if you could guarantee one
- 32:50Speaker 1: win on our schedule this year, what game would it be?
- 32:53Speaker 1: And why?
- 32:54Speaker 7: New Orleans?
- 32:55Speaker 1: New Orleans.
- 32:56Speaker 7: I think it's the worst team in football.
- 32:58Speaker 5: Okay, I would say a division probably like a Miami game.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Really see, I think they're going to win one of those,
- 33:05Speaker 1: But like we're being asked to guarantee, and obviously you
- 33:08Speaker 1: can't do that because but I was going to say
- 33:11Speaker 1: Tennessee Miami on the road. I was going to say
- 33:13Speaker 1: the Panthers.
- 33:14Speaker 7: I'm not willing to do that. One is Tennessee at home.
- 33:16Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 33:17Speaker 3: If Tennessee is at home. I might edge Tennessee over
- 33:20Speaker 3: New Orleans because I think those are the two worst
- 33:22Speaker 3: teams that the Patriots play.
- 33:23Speaker 1: I think they are. I think it is at home.
- 33:26Speaker 1: I think I remember them coming here.
- 33:28Speaker 3: But yeah, if Tennessee is a home game, and forgive
- 33:32Speaker 3: me for not having the schedule committed to memory, that
- 33:37Speaker 3: I will give Tennessee the nod over New Orleans. I
- 33:39Speaker 3: think those two teams are going to struggle. New Orleans
- 33:42Speaker 3: I think is going to be the worst team in
- 33:44Speaker 3: the league. Though at least Tennessee has a number one
- 33:45Speaker 3: overall pick quarterback. You never know, he might be the
- 33:48Speaker 3: third you know, after CJ. Stroud and then Jayden Daniels.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Maybe cam Wood does for his team what those guys did.
- 33:57Speaker 3: No one was predicting that for Washington last year.
- 34:01Speaker 1: We've got a bront workboot review from one of our
- 34:04Speaker 1: listeners fill in North Carolina. He says, I'm in sales
- 34:07Speaker 1: but need safety boots as I'm in waste and recycling
- 34:10Speaker 1: and go on a lot of construction sites, commercial sites
- 34:13Speaker 1: requiring safety boots, dirty areas here in eastern North Carolina.
- 34:17Speaker 1: Finally broke down and got the Omen boots after seeing
- 34:20Speaker 1: the ads and hearing them sponsor on PU. Loving them
- 34:23Speaker 1: so far. They look great and they are comfortable to
- 34:26Speaker 1: walk around for lengthy periods of time, no matter where
- 34:28Speaker 1: I am. So there you go. Love it and you
- 34:31Speaker 1: can get your own Omen boots at brontworkwear dot com.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Go to brontworkwear dot com forward slash pats or with
- 34:41Speaker 1: coupon code pats and you can also get ten bucks
- 34:44Speaker 1: off of it. And if you don't like it, just
- 34:46Speaker 1: send it back. So Bront Workwear the Omen boots.
- 34:51Speaker 6: I wonder, what are those ones we got?
- 34:52Speaker 5: I wonder.
- 34:53Speaker 1: I don't know which ones we got. I want to
- 34:56Speaker 1: get the other ones, like traditional work boots. I want
- 34:58Speaker 1: to get those because the ones I have now are
- 35:01Speaker 1: like on their last legs.
- 35:03Speaker 5: That they sent you or like your old pair, No, my.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Old pair, they're not they're not brunt. They were a
- 35:09Speaker 1: former sponsor.
- 35:11Speaker 3: You too, You still still have those I told you
- 35:14Speaker 3: I had. I had to put duct tape to you slash.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Yeah, like the same way like a cobbler.
- 35:22Speaker 3: Are they too trash?
- 35:24Speaker 1: Oh yeah yeah, he's got a picture of him now.
- 35:26Speaker 1: He sent the same ones that we have.
- 35:28Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I like them.
- 35:31Speaker 1: They're just two nights like. They don't seem like work boats,
- 35:33Speaker 1: they seem like dress boots. Well brought them through foxs
- 35:37Speaker 1: Oh Yeah.
- 35:38Speaker 5: Well, if you're in sales, going on construction sites or
- 35:41Speaker 5: like selling equipment, probably perfect boot.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Yeah I get you know, there you go because you
- 35:47Speaker 1: want to have that. Yeah. Okay, all right, back to
- 35:53Speaker 1: the phones we go. Uh, Anthony's in Seattle? What's up? Anthony?
- 36:00Speaker 12: Was up?
- 36:00Speaker 13: Bread?
- 36:00Speaker 12: Paul Alex, how you guys doing?
- 36:02Speaker 1: Okay?
- 36:02Speaker 5: Great man?
- 36:03Speaker 1: All right?
- 36:04Speaker 12: Hey, uh Paul, I wish you were Uh, I wish
- 36:07Speaker 12: you were at the show last week. I took a
- 36:08Speaker 12: pretty good shot at the guy who wanted you guys
- 36:10Speaker 12: to punch Pop Douglas in the face to prove you
- 36:12Speaker 12: weren't frauds.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Hey.
- 36:15Speaker 12: Uh, I had you guys let off Tuesday show with uh,
- 36:21Speaker 12: things you're excited about, things you're worried about, and then uh,
- 36:25Speaker 12: I agree for the most part with what you guys
- 36:27Speaker 12: are saying. But there was one that Fred brought up
- 36:29Speaker 12: I thought was interesting, Positive surprises. I thought that was
- 36:34Speaker 12: it was interesting because it's kind of hard to like
- 36:38Speaker 12: pick something that you're hopeful to happen and then also
- 36:40Speaker 12: say you'll be surprised about it.
- 36:41Speaker 8: Though.
- 36:41Speaker 11: That was an interesting one to think about.
- 36:43Speaker 12: What I had one that I wanted to that I
- 36:45Speaker 12: thought was pretty good Uh, the kicker, what is the kicker?
- 36:50Speaker 12: Is just like absolute money, Like you know, like he
- 36:54Speaker 12: comes in like out of nowhere, like like Brandon Aubrey
- 36:57Speaker 12: did for Dallas, Like who the hell is this guy?
- 36:59Speaker 12: Just knock him down, you know, sixty fifty seven, forty seven,
- 37:03Speaker 12: you put the ball in front of him, he's just
- 37:04Speaker 12: knocking him through. And like, let's say they hit the ceiling,
- 37:07Speaker 12: and let's say it go eleven and six, and and
- 37:10Speaker 12: they're like five to zero in games decided by three
- 37:13Speaker 12: points or less, because he's just like it's like clear
- 37:16Speaker 12: as day, like he's filled in that that slim margin
- 37:19Speaker 12: of victory or margin of era between wins and losses.
- 37:23Speaker 12: I think that would be. And then also like then
- 37:25Speaker 12: by the end of the season, you feel like, wow,
- 37:27Speaker 12: we've got the our you know, our our kicker.
- 37:29Speaker 14: He's a rookie, so.
- 37:30Speaker 12: You've got our kicker for the next fifteen twenty years.
- 37:32Speaker 12: I think that will qualify as a positive surprise.
- 37:35Speaker 1: I would agree.
- 37:36Speaker 3: You gotta think, yeah, yeah, sure, if he's Brandon Aubrey,
- 37:39Speaker 3: Yeah that would be a surprise.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Okay, that's what he's saying.
- 37:42Speaker 3: But everybody has a good kicker, Like how was it
- 37:45Speaker 3: how was the Patriots kicking last year? That was fine?
- 37:48Speaker 1: Well, some kickers are better than others.
- 37:50Speaker 3: Yeah, Brandon Aubrey, Yeah, I would say we'd qualify as
- 37:52Speaker 3: a surprise.
- 37:52Speaker 1: I mean Justin Tucker over his career, you know.
- 37:55Speaker 7: Yeah, everybody has that.
- 37:56Speaker 3: Nobody everybody has that pretty much stop like Daniel Carlson.
- 38:03Speaker 3: Everybody has a good kicker every once while, you have
- 38:05Speaker 3: a year where you can't make one the Chad Ryland
- 38:08Speaker 3: year for the Patriots.
- 38:09Speaker 6: That's what I was just going to say.
- 38:10Speaker 7: Everybody has a year.
- 38:12Speaker 8: Where struggling, handful of games, most years that could have
- 38:16Speaker 8: been one if a kick had been.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Absolutely he had an abnormally bad year, which is why
- 38:21Speaker 3: he was what happened.
- 38:22Speaker 5: Like but not great? Well, Chad Ryland, he just went.
- 38:27Speaker 3: Somewhere else and he went back to normal because he
- 38:29Speaker 3: was in a slump that one year.
- 38:30Speaker 6: It happens.
- 38:31Speaker 3: But I think for the most part, yes, Justin Tucker
- 38:34Speaker 3: better than than you know, mostly because of longevity and consistency.
- 38:40Speaker 3: You know, what's Boswell and Pittsburgh, Chris Boswell I'm thinking of,
- 38:50Speaker 3: you know, Brandon Aubrey and Dallas. There's a handful that
- 38:53Speaker 3: are really good every year.
- 38:55Speaker 1: But I think I think but like.
- 38:56Speaker 3: The like the Detroit kid that came out of the
- 38:58Speaker 3: uf L, he was he was nails all season for
- 39:01Speaker 3: the Lions.
- 39:02Speaker 7: They're all kind of dog.
- 39:03Speaker 12: They all make like eight that degree, like like like
- 39:07Speaker 12: an Aubrey Tucker, Like if our kicker is one of
- 39:09Speaker 12: those guys, that's that's that's you know, that's money.
- 39:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I think more teams have money than you think.
- 39:15Speaker 1: But I think it's I think I would like to
- 39:18Speaker 1: different Thanks for the call an today. I would like
- 39:19Speaker 1: to differentiate from a guy making eighty five percent of
- 39:22Speaker 1: his kicks to the guy who whenever it's on the line,
- 39:26Speaker 1: that was that time he makes them, that was Adam.
- 39:29Speaker 1: That's that's Adam, And that's what I hope this guy
- 39:31Speaker 1: is that episode.
- 39:33Speaker 5: Can he I agree for back up the distance that
- 39:36Speaker 5: we would consider Okay, we're in field goal range, you know,
- 39:39Speaker 5: like whereas yeah, it might have been a lot closer.
- 39:42Speaker 3: I believe last year they set a record for like
- 39:47Speaker 3: highest percentage of fifty five plus yardfield goal percentage something
- 39:52Speaker 3: like that, like league wide, league wide, like that number.
- 39:56Speaker 3: To Alex's point is getting.
- 39:59Speaker 5: Back and back.
- 40:00Speaker 7: A year Joey Slide made a sixty three yard of Oh.
- 40:03Speaker 1: They'll be a seventy yarder within the next five years. Yeah,
- 40:06Speaker 1: I'm convinced of it.
- 40:07Speaker 6: I believe it.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 40:08Speaker 7: So like he's right, Anthony is absolutely right.
- 40:12Speaker 3: Like Brandon Aubrey, like what he was last year was different,
- 40:17Speaker 3: Like he just made every kick. I think he made
- 40:21Speaker 3: an obscene amount of plus fifty yarders. That's a that's
- 40:25Speaker 3: a weapon. But I just feel like the kicking in
- 40:28Speaker 3: general in the league twenty eight or so teams feel
- 40:33Speaker 3: okay about the kicking situation every once in a while,
- 40:35Speaker 3: and the Patriots were one of those teams two years ago.
- 40:38Speaker 3: You're looking for somebody because you just can't make a
- 40:41Speaker 3: field goal and it kills you. It does kill you
- 40:43Speaker 3: when you don't have it. Yeah, it just I don't
- 40:45Speaker 3: think very many teams don't have it.
- 40:47Speaker 1: Yeah, let's see what do we got here? Who is this?
- 40:52Speaker 1: Someone named Christian in LA what's up?
- 40:55Speaker 15: Hey?
- 40:56Speaker 16: You guys.
- 41:00Speaker 17: Talking about wide receivers and stuff. And it just came
- 41:02Speaker 17: to mind with me, especially when you guys said earlier
- 41:06Speaker 17: that they're producing better and better cross of wide receivers
- 41:09Speaker 17: and higher and higher numbers. And it seems like to
- 41:12Speaker 17: me that then translates to teams like Washington and some
- 41:16Speaker 17: of the teams being a little a little more open
- 41:19Speaker 17: to letting some of these number ones go. And I
- 41:22Speaker 17: just feel like at this point in this team's evolution,
- 41:26Speaker 17: we have to do what we need to do to
- 41:28Speaker 17: get a professional wide receiver. We've proven over the years
- 41:32Speaker 17: we just cannot draft them fight end. We're great ass back,
- 41:37Speaker 17: we're great defense, We're really great at just finding guys
- 41:40Speaker 17: in different places on the first, second, third, or fourth rounds.
- 41:44Speaker 17: We have never been like the Pittsburgh Steelers are and
- 41:48Speaker 17: been able to draft year after year great wide receivers.
- 41:53Speaker 17: So it seems like for the good of the team,
- 41:55Speaker 17: we need to just stop trying and let's just do
- 41:57Speaker 17: what we need to do consistently to get it for
- 42:00Speaker 17: professional wide receiver, shaking loose some money team since they're
- 42:02Speaker 17: feeling also like six, seven, eight wide receivers are coming
- 42:06Speaker 17: out every year that can produce. What do you guys
- 42:09Speaker 17: feel about that?
- 42:10Speaker 1: Well, I agree they haven't really done well lately trying
- 42:13Speaker 1: to draft a wide receiver, but that doesn't mean you
- 42:16Speaker 1: stop trying. And and by the way they has changed,
- 42:20Speaker 1: I mean, I know Elliot's Ben Carton, but been here, Yeah, exactly.
- 42:24Speaker 3: Mike Rabel hasn't been here, hasn't been part.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Of it, right, so let's see what these guys can do.
- 42:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't like that line of thought. I think
- 42:32Speaker 3: it's another one of those calls that he doesn't really
- 42:36Speaker 3: like that line of thought either, but like, just don't try, Okay,
- 42:40Speaker 3: we won't have wide.
- 42:41Speaker 1: Receivers right well, just you know, yeah, so.
- 42:44Speaker 3: I don't like that. Should they not have drafted Drake
- 42:46Speaker 3: maybe because mac Jones didn't work.
- 42:48Speaker 1: On looky, they use first round picks on Ben Watson
- 42:51Speaker 1: and Daniel Graham and they were okay players, but they
- 42:53Speaker 1: weren't first round talents a tight end. Should they have
- 42:56Speaker 1: stopped trying? Well, if they had, they wouldn't have had
- 42:58Speaker 1: Rob Gronkowski. I know he was a second round pick,
- 43:01Speaker 1: but you're right, I'm talking about drafting tight ends, all right.
- 43:04Speaker 7: That's a great example of it.
- 43:06Speaker 3: They kept drafting tight ends and then all of a
- 43:08Speaker 3: sudden they found a Hall of Famer.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Right, so yeah, you don't stop trying. You just got
- 43:14Speaker 1: to get it right. Emery's in Virginia. What's up, Emery?
- 43:19Speaker 15: Good afternoon, everybody. Hey football as well? Hey, listen, I
- 43:24Speaker 15: got some good news from great news. Okay, the curse
- 43:28Speaker 15: will end this season. As far as drafting wide receivers,
- 43:32Speaker 15: we're going to get to see it in our lifetime
- 43:35Speaker 15: because I believe this kid, Kyle Williams is a hit. Okay,
- 43:39Speaker 15: And I wanted to ask you a question right now,
- 43:42Speaker 15: with his current skills set, is he better than Chris
- 43:46Speaker 15: seven eleven Hogan and Malcolm Mitchell?
- 43:51Speaker 11: I'll take it off there.
- 43:52Speaker 3: I hope he's got a better skill set than Chris Hogan.
- 43:55Speaker 3: I don't know enough about Malcolm Mitchell because I never
- 43:57Speaker 3: really saw him healthy to know what his skilled sound.
- 44:00Speaker 1: He had like one year in the league.
- 44:01Speaker 3: Yeah, Malcolm Mitchell was pretty good. Yeah. Yeah, I think
- 44:07Speaker 3: he's a better player than Chris Hogan. Yeah, in terms
- 44:09Speaker 3: of skill set. We'll see what he is as an
- 44:11Speaker 3: NFL player. I think he's probably more athletic, although.
- 44:14Speaker 1: He doesn't have the cloak of invisibility.
- 44:16Speaker 7: No, no, that is true.
- 44:18Speaker 3: You see? Was she right?
- 44:19Speaker 1: No, Chris Hogan?
- 44:21Speaker 3: What she rice got thirty days in jail, five years probation?
- 44:27Speaker 1: Oh wow, yeah, Chris Hogan. We we he would just
- 44:31Speaker 1: all of a sudden get wide open. I mean, like
- 44:34Speaker 1: where everybody else is on one side of the field
- 44:36Speaker 1: and he's the only one standing there, and you know,
- 44:38Speaker 1: whether it was Garoppolo or Brady would hit him with
- 44:41Speaker 1: a pass and it's like, how did he get that open?
- 44:44Speaker 1: So we we said he had a cloak of invisibility
- 44:47Speaker 1: where no one would see him until it was time.
- 44:49Speaker 7: And it kind of caught on. Yeah, and we invented that.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:53Speaker 6: Yeah, like that, just many other things you trends, you
- 44:56Speaker 6: guys started.
- 44:56Speaker 3: There was one game in particular, I want to say
- 44:58Speaker 3: it was a Baltimore game at I hear that, Like
- 45:01Speaker 3: it was back and forth. The Ravens were sort of
- 45:04Speaker 3: hanging around and they were and then all of a sudden,
- 45:06Speaker 3: he just like went seventy five yards like no one
- 45:09Speaker 3: covered him.
- 45:09Speaker 7: He was all by himself.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Yeah, he did it in Arizona too, when Garoppolo was playing. Yeah,
- 45:15Speaker 1: it was like literally I'm looking at the because I'm there,
- 45:19Speaker 1: and I'm looking at the left side of the field
- 45:21Speaker 1: and he's the only one standing there. No one was
- 45:23Speaker 1: even winning the zip code.
- 45:24Speaker 6: They just didn't care.
- 45:25Speaker 3: Well, they just said he's a lacrosse player. I don't know.
- 45:28Speaker 3: It was weird how many times he was like uncovered
- 45:31Speaker 3: down the field.
- 45:32Speaker 1: Yep, let's see. Anthony writes in why guarantee a win
- 45:39Speaker 1: over a bottom of the league team? Because we talked about.
- 45:42Speaker 3: What you were asked to right to give a guaranteed way?
- 45:45Speaker 1: I know, I can understand your point of view, But
- 45:47Speaker 1: why wouldn't you want a big win over Buffalo and
- 45:50Speaker 1: Buffalo or Miami in Miami? Something to really show the
- 45:53Speaker 1: rest of the league that were on the rise. I say,
- 45:56Speaker 1: Week two in Miami, we need to exercise our demons
- 45:58Speaker 1: against two it in game. Look, I hope they win.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Those games would be great.
- 46:01Speaker 3: But the question was Gary, Yeah, what would be the
- 46:05Speaker 3: most exciting win that you could you could see that
- 46:08Speaker 3: might have been a different answer.
- 46:10Speaker 5: The question, which is why I said Miami on the road.
- 46:13Speaker 5: I thought it was like, if you could guarantee, as
- 46:15Speaker 5: in like you're willing it into existence that they're going
- 46:17Speaker 5: to beat this team?
- 46:19Speaker 1: What I want?
- 46:19Speaker 3: What you want?
- 46:20Speaker 1: Like you got a gun to your head and.
- 46:24Speaker 7: Put the game right?
- 46:26Speaker 1: If I would trade a loss to the Saints for
- 46:31Speaker 1: a win over Miami on the roads?
- 46:34Speaker 3: Correct?
- 46:34Speaker 5: And so I was.
- 46:35Speaker 6: Thinking of it.
- 46:36Speaker 5: I think a little more so how they interpreted the question,
- 46:40Speaker 5: you might be.
- 46:40Speaker 6: Right, Well, you guys might be right too.
- 46:42Speaker 7: Yeah, you might be right.
- 46:43Speaker 3: It might be just what what if there was one
- 46:46Speaker 3: game that you could guarantee that they would what would
- 46:48Speaker 3: you most want to want it to be?
- 46:50Speaker 1: Right?
- 46:50Speaker 6: That's why I was thinking, Like for.
- 46:51Speaker 3: Me, it would be at Miami, just to get rid
- 46:53Speaker 3: of that.
- 46:53Speaker 6: That's what I was saying too exactly.
- 46:56Speaker 1: We're talking about, like why would the Commander's trade McLaurin.
- 46:59Speaker 1: You know, they got a good thing going, they got
- 47:01Speaker 1: the and voodoo rights in for context, the Commanders are
- 47:05Speaker 1: mistaken for being this young, exciting team when in reality
- 47:08Speaker 1: they were actually the second oldest team in the league.
- 47:10Speaker 1: That's not the point, it's it's the point is the
- 47:13Speaker 1: windows open? They kick your quarterback? Yeah, like now is
- 47:17Speaker 1: the time? And why would you take away from this
- 47:19Speaker 1: young quarterback his best receiver.
- 47:22Speaker 3: They went to the NFC Championship game last year? Who
- 47:24Speaker 3: cares like the Actually, they don't need to be young
- 47:27Speaker 3: to develop into something.
- 47:28Speaker 7: They were something last year.
- 47:30Speaker 1: Now.
- 47:31Speaker 3: I'm skeptical to be able to repeat it. But if
- 47:35Speaker 3: I were Washington, I wouldn't be saying why don't need
- 47:38Speaker 3: Terry McLaurin, because that's going to help me, you know,
- 47:40Speaker 3: duplicate what we did last year. That's crazy, yep.
- 47:44Speaker 5: I didn't realize that they were that old. But I
- 47:46Speaker 5: think just having a really young, exciting quarterback, and then
- 47:49Speaker 5: also just new ownership, there's just like a lot of.
- 47:51Speaker 1: Fresh great point, and sometimes those rankings of who's older
- 47:57Speaker 1: and younger, you really need to look at it because
- 47:59Speaker 1: sometimes it's an average, so sometimes it can be skewed
- 48:03Speaker 1: by a couple older players. And also the difference between
- 48:07Speaker 1: you know, ten and five or five is like half
- 48:11Speaker 1: a year, you know, so you have to look at that.
- 48:13Speaker 3: Not even But I think Alex's point that just made
- 48:15Speaker 3: me think of it too is really good, because yeah,
- 48:19Speaker 3: they did. They brought in a lot of veteran free
- 48:21Speaker 3: agents to fill gaps like Bobby Wagner and Zach Ertz,
- 48:25Speaker 3: and those guys are going to make your age. But
- 48:27Speaker 3: why is Washington good? Jaden Daniels right, they're not going
- 48:33Speaker 3: anywhere if he's the real deal. As long as he's
- 48:36Speaker 3: really good, I don't care who the other guys are, they're.
- 48:40Speaker 7: Gonna be good.
- 48:41Speaker 3: You can be great if you will augment him with
- 48:44Speaker 3: guys like Terry McLaurin, but you're gonna be baseline good.
- 48:47Speaker 7: Look what the Chiefs have done. The Chiefs were great with.
- 48:50Speaker 3: Tyreek Hill, right, the offense was great, but they let
- 48:54Speaker 3: him go and now their offense has been good. Now
- 48:58Speaker 3: there's still been a good team because it's homes they
- 49:01Speaker 3: find they know how to win.
- 49:02Speaker 7: They're a lot like the Patriots.
- 49:03Speaker 3: Good coach a good coach, They're going to find a
- 49:05Speaker 3: way to beat you more often than not. But if
- 49:09Speaker 3: you want to maximize your championship window, you don't let
- 49:12Speaker 3: guys like Terry McLaurin go.
- 49:13Speaker 1: Right, Mike and the OC happy Thursday, Excited for the
- 49:18Speaker 1: next episode of Forge and Foxbor tomorrow and the live
- 49:21Speaker 1: shows next week. For training camp? Are we expecting Stefan
- 49:25Speaker 1: Diggs to be placed on the pup list? I was
- 49:28Speaker 1: really hoping there's a chance for him to start contributing
- 49:30Speaker 1: closer to week one so we can at least see
- 49:32Speaker 1: the receiving corps close to full strength early in the season.
- 49:36Speaker 3: I do don't know.
- 49:37Speaker 1: I don't think he's going to be out there on
- 49:39Speaker 1: day one though, right.
- 49:40Speaker 3: I don't know what to expect. I would say if
- 49:44Speaker 3: he is in fact opening camp on PUP don't completely
- 49:48Speaker 3: dismiss the possibility of him being ready for week one, Right,
- 49:51Speaker 3: those two things don't necessarily have to equal one.
- 49:54Speaker 1: Another question for the group, mostly Alex would love to
- 49:58Speaker 1: know if you have a favorite reality TV show you
- 50:01Speaker 1: always tune in for, or which show would you love
- 50:04Speaker 1: to be a contestant on.
- 50:07Speaker 5: I am unlike a lot of women I'm friends with.
- 50:12Speaker 5: I hate reality TV. I don't have time for it.
- 50:15Speaker 5: I think it's so stupid. I think I lose brain
- 50:18Speaker 5: cells when I watched it. My college roommates would kick
- 50:21Speaker 5: me out of the house on Mondays when they were
- 50:23Speaker 5: watching The Bachelor or The Bachelorette because I would just
- 50:26Speaker 5: sit there and just get start that the people were
- 50:29Speaker 5: and how unrealistic it was. And if I had to
- 50:34Speaker 5: so like my reality TV is like sports and like
- 50:37Speaker 5: HGTV and the Food Network.
- 50:39Speaker 6: That's what I like.
- 50:39Speaker 5: I like the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders show a lot, So
- 50:42Speaker 5: I guess if I had to be a contestant and
- 50:45Speaker 5: it came with the skill and the attractiveness level of
- 50:48Speaker 5: those girls, I would want to be on that show.
- 50:50Speaker 5: Otherwise I would love like.
- 50:52Speaker 3: A PAX for Dallas Cowboy cheer I like that.
- 50:57Speaker 5: Well, it's like, you got to respect the greatness I
- 50:59Speaker 5: was never cheerleader, but if I could be at that level,
- 51:02Speaker 5: you snap my finger.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Reality show I don't watch them. I really don't, honestly.
- 51:07Speaker 6: I love violent stuff.
- 51:10Speaker 5: Oh my god, I can't wait.
- 51:11Speaker 1: I was listening to Howard Stern. He was making fun
- 51:13Speaker 1: of people like why would anyone watch WWE? And I
- 51:16Speaker 1: was thinking to myself, you watch The Bachelor like it's
- 51:19Speaker 1: which is as vapid as anything.
- 51:21Speaker 3: Well, so that's a great to what I was going
- 51:25Speaker 3: to talk about. The idea of reality television sort of
- 51:28Speaker 3: intrigues me, but it's it's so scripted and it used
- 51:31Speaker 3: to be great, like it bothers me that people think
- 51:34Speaker 3: that these are real situations and it's never real, like favor.
- 51:38Speaker 5: Love Jersey Shore, like Laguna Beach that was like the
- 51:42Speaker 5: Heyday were well, and even those were so.
- 51:45Speaker 3: Scripted too, but I didn't even watch them.
- 51:47Speaker 6: It wasn't as just terrible like the idea.
- 51:49Speaker 7: Like that we were watching.
- 51:51Speaker 3: I was telling you guys like deafinitly, and I was like, well,
- 51:54Speaker 3: you know, like Bachelor in Paradise is, I'm like okay,
- 51:57Speaker 3: and I just like I end up sitting there and
- 51:58Speaker 3: I'm like, like, you know.
- 52:00Speaker 1: This is all fake right, like this is I just
- 52:03Speaker 1: that can try and the housewives stuff and like I
- 52:08Speaker 1: just I hate it.
- 52:09Speaker 5: Yeah you my girl, Bethany Frankel. But other than that
- 52:12Speaker 5: hate it, what was I just gonna say?
- 52:15Speaker 1: My wife loves those murdered ones where they you know,
- 52:19Speaker 1: snapped and buried in the backyard, the real stuff, and
- 52:23Speaker 1: they yeah, and then they go back and they they
- 52:27Speaker 1: talk to them.
- 52:28Speaker 6: I would argue, are more even like documentary than they are.
- 52:31Speaker 1: Yes, they're not reality, well they are in reality, but like, yeah,
- 52:35Speaker 1: you know, but I don't like those.
- 52:37Speaker 5: I love this, And there's a reality TV show for
- 52:39Speaker 5: everything now, like everyone has a reality like I Love
- 52:42Speaker 5: on the Spectrum ninetyrum, Oh my god, I saw my
- 52:46Speaker 5: I visited my grandma in Florida. There's a Portuguese ninety
- 52:50Speaker 5: day fiance and I'm like trying to explain to my
- 52:53Speaker 5: eighty year old grandmother that this is not real, Like
- 52:55Speaker 5: they don't actually look like I don't know. She's so Ina,
- 53:00Speaker 5: did you feel.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Bad watching Love on the Spectrum.
- 53:03Speaker 5: You're not making fun of them, but at the same
- 53:05Speaker 5: time you are.
- 53:06Speaker 6: But why is that a show?
- 53:07Speaker 3: Like, oh, yes you are, but.
- 53:10Speaker 7: You watch is what I'm saying.
- 53:12Speaker 3: Sometimes not as much as Love is Blind as Yeah,
- 53:16Speaker 3: I don't watch.
- 53:18Speaker 5: I would never I would never take you for a
- 53:20Speaker 5: Love is Blind guy.
- 53:23Speaker 3: I don't watch any of those teach their own.
- 53:25Speaker 5: I can't do it.
- 53:26Speaker 3: Like big Brother. I'll watch a little bit. I don't
- 53:29Speaker 3: really like. I don't like it much. But summer there's
- 53:33Speaker 3: nothing on everything, all of my show spreading.
- 53:37Speaker 6: It's not like that anymore now, Yeah, real whirl.
- 53:39Speaker 1: When it was grounds, you saidap it.
- 53:42Speaker 6: That's the best word I could think of for it.
- 53:44Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's mindless. I get people they want to
- 53:47Speaker 1: just sit back and passively watch and all that.
- 53:49Speaker 5: I'll watch like The Office or Family Guy. If I
- 53:51Speaker 5: want something, I want mindless TV.
- 53:54Speaker 3: You know something that doesn't. He's too good for like
- 53:57Speaker 3: network sitcoms, right right, he's too high brid.
- 54:00Speaker 1: I'd rather watch my favorite, my Lottery dream House.
- 54:04Speaker 6: I'd rather watch that house Hunters all day.
- 54:08Speaker 1: I turn it off though, when I hear like okay,
- 54:10Speaker 1: so EURO was eager to say, okay, what did they win?
- 54:13Speaker 1: I want to scratcher and I want to spend two
- 54:15Speaker 1: hundred thousand dollars like all right, I'm out click.
- 54:17Speaker 5: Yeah, there's a I saw a TikTok, So take this
- 54:24Speaker 5: with a grain of salt. But HGTV was like reaching
- 54:27Speaker 5: out to local Cape Cod realtors saying they were looking
- 54:29Speaker 5: for someone that was a prospective buyer in the Cape
- 54:32Speaker 5: Cod area that wanted a beach house, and they were
- 54:35Speaker 5: looking for people with budgets of six hundred to seven
- 54:38Speaker 5: hundred thousand dollars.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Beach house, and they were going all on.
- 54:42Speaker 5: The coast And I was like, did they do any
- 54:44Speaker 5: market research? You can't get a shock two miles away
- 54:48Speaker 5: from the beach six hundred thousand dollars on Cape Cod, right?
- 54:52Speaker 5: I thought that was pretty funny.
- 54:54Speaker 1: Is this a show in production? Like allegedly so we
- 54:57Speaker 1: might see something there?
- 54:59Speaker 7: So they it was a large scripted too, you know, yes.
- 55:02Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you can just tell from the interaction.
- 55:04Speaker 5: Gary Stresky from ESPN did one of those shows and
- 55:08Speaker 5: he kind of told me like a little bit about
- 55:10Speaker 5: the process. But I don't know if I don't remember
- 55:13Speaker 5: if this was the case for him. But sometimes the
- 55:15Speaker 5: houses they go tour aren't even for sale. Sometimes it's
- 55:18Speaker 5: just a friend's house that they're like, oh, can we
- 55:21Speaker 5: film there in that thing? Usually too, they've already bought
- 55:24Speaker 5: the house they're going to pick in the end for Yeah.
- 55:28Speaker 1: That's awful. That is awful, and.
- 55:32Speaker 3: They always picked like three, but there's like a million
- 55:34Speaker 3: houses these people.
- 55:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 55:36Speaker 3: I do like the like the improvement shows, the Home
- 55:39Speaker 3: Improvement I.
- 55:40Speaker 5: Love those because I don't need the drama of like
- 55:43Speaker 5: finding the house and.
- 55:45Speaker 6: Oh my god, there's a load bearing wall.
- 55:47Speaker 1: What are we going to do?
- 55:48Speaker 7: It's different dramas.
- 55:50Speaker 3: Yeah, it's different drama, and I always make fun of
- 55:52Speaker 3: death about that. But unlike the Bachelor shows, I actually enjoyed,
- 55:57Speaker 3: Like the Family. Yeah, I kind of like them. I
- 56:01Speaker 3: think he's kind of cool, but there's always some like
- 56:04Speaker 3: right in the middle, it's like, oh my, like to you, yeah,
- 56:08Speaker 3: is that a load bearing walls? To get the phone on?
- 56:13Speaker 3: The engineer so Fred's point like, you know, this mold,
- 56:18Speaker 3: so we might have to do away with the second bathroom,
- 56:22Speaker 3: but it's going to cost about twelve grand. Yeah, and
- 56:25Speaker 3: then miraculously by the end of the commercial break, it's
- 56:27Speaker 3: all fixed.
- 56:28Speaker 18: Right.
- 56:28Speaker 7: It's so I.
- 56:32Speaker 6: I do too.
- 56:33Speaker 5: I was a weird kid where like I was rushing
- 56:35Speaker 5: to get my homework done after school so that I
- 56:37Speaker 5: could watch There's a show called Knock First.
- 56:40Speaker 6: That was like an interior design show. Actually, Tanya and Nyak,
- 56:42Speaker 6: who's a Boston member, was the host. Yeah, got to.
- 56:45Speaker 5: Meet her a couple of years ago. But I was
- 56:47Speaker 5: like rushing to get my homework to watch AHG TV.
- 56:50Speaker 6: Like instead of cartoons. I was a really weird kid.
- 56:53Speaker 3: She was rushing to get her homework done to watch
- 56:55Speaker 3: a television network that didn't exist when we were getting
- 56:59Speaker 3: our home.
- 57:00Speaker 1: I didn't have TVO back then.
- 57:01Speaker 5: I guess, well if they had it, but I was
- 57:04Speaker 5: like later in elementary school and we didn't have it.
- 57:07Speaker 5: I never had TiVo.
- 57:08Speaker 1: Okay, back to the phones we go. Let's see what
- 57:14Speaker 1: do we got here? Tim in South Carolina? I hate Tim.
- 57:19Speaker 16: Hey, guys, how's it going good?
- 57:22Speaker 1: Hey?
- 57:22Speaker 19: I had a quick comment and then a question about
- 57:24Speaker 19: the show. I was meaning to Collins for a while
- 57:27Speaker 19: about this, but since you guys talked about it the
- 57:28Speaker 19: other day, it makes more sense. I really appreciate the
- 57:31Speaker 19: positivity that you guys bring to Boston sports. The other
- 57:35Speaker 19: media outlets are not still positive. They'd make you think
- 57:37Speaker 19: that this is the worst time to be alive in
- 57:40Speaker 19: Boston sports, and you guys just are real and make
- 57:44Speaker 19: it really enjoyable.
- 57:45Speaker 17: To be a fan.
- 57:46Speaker 1: Oh, thank you, I mean, and then go ahead, But yeah, I.
- 57:51Speaker 19: Just had a quick question about the show. I didn't
- 57:54Speaker 19: listen for a while after the season, like up until
- 57:56Speaker 19: the draft, but I definitely missed this. But what happened
- 57:59Speaker 19: to Tamara?
- 58:01Speaker 1: She left for greener pastures.
- 58:04Speaker 19: Ah, that's too bad. I always really enjoyed her on
- 58:06Speaker 19: the show.
- 58:08Speaker 1: So is that it okay?
- 58:12Speaker 15: Thanks?
- 58:12Speaker 1: Thanks for the call to him. Yeah, I mean, we're
- 58:16Speaker 1: not always.
- 58:16Speaker 7: I love the positivity.
- 58:18Speaker 1: I mean we tried.
- 58:20Speaker 7: Look, it's not the job.
- 58:22Speaker 1: This is a show about the Patriots from inside the Patriots.
- 58:26Speaker 1: So we're homers.
- 58:27Speaker 3: I don't, I don't, but I don't think people would
- 58:29Speaker 3: have been calling in last year saying no, just really,
- 58:31Speaker 3: I appreciate that.
- 58:33Speaker 1: I was gonna say, but you know, we're always going
- 58:35Speaker 1: to look in the bright side. But I think we
- 58:38Speaker 1: we try to be honest with you know, how we
- 58:40Speaker 1: think things are going.
- 58:41Speaker 3: And I would just push back, like locally right now,
- 58:45Speaker 3: the expectations for the Patriots to me a borderline, how
- 58:48Speaker 3: to whack positive?
- 58:50Speaker 5: Well, the Patriots are like somehow, I don't know, the
- 58:54Speaker 5: last couple of years, it's been crazy to think about this,
- 58:56Speaker 5: but like The Patriots have the most promise right now
- 58:58Speaker 5: of all the teams. You could argue since the Red
- 59:00Speaker 5: Talks started their winning streaks.
- 59:03Speaker 7: Red Red's Red Sox.
- 59:05Speaker 1: I think the socks are loaded. Really, I don't think
- 59:07Speaker 1: they loaded, but I think that three weeks ago though,
- 59:11Speaker 1: like I've definitely three weeks ago, I still thought that way.
- 59:13Speaker 7: I don't even care about the ten game winning streak.
- 59:16Speaker 3: I care that they have these young guys that are
- 59:18Speaker 3: up and playing, and now there's.
- 59:20Speaker 5: Something sentiment of the fan base. And again this was
- 59:24Speaker 5: pre Red Sox winning streak. The Patriots are.
- 59:28Speaker 1: Like, listen it all hinges on the pictures right now. Yeah,
- 59:33Speaker 1: you know Kroshette is he's the ace, but Giolito needs
- 59:37Speaker 1: to keep it up.
- 59:40Speaker 7: That's why they need a number two stones.
- 59:41Speaker 1: Yeah, they need some pitching help. There's no doubt this
- 59:45Speaker 1: Tanner Houke thing. I I predicted his demise. There was
- 59:50Speaker 1: something up with him. It's from the All Star break
- 59:53Speaker 1: last year till now. There was there's something weird going
- 59:57Speaker 1: on with him because he was lights out before that,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: like the spin on his pitches were so tight, and
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: then all of a sudden it just changed. And I
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: don't know what what happened. But he hasn't been the
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: same picture yet since then, so you know he was.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: He was something I think they were hoping to count on,
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: and now he's off the radar. They need some pitching
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: help and if they can get it, I think they've
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: got the bats in the lineup to really make a
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: dent this year. I think they can make a run.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: I really do.
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: I don't know about the bats, but they need some
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: help pitching. And I agree with you if they think
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: that that that trade for Joe Ryan for Minnesota, if
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: that can happen and all of a sudden, Bao and
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: Gilito spot because beat has been great and if he can,
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: he's been young. So this is again why I'm looking
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: at I've been busting French chops because I'm getting into
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: it a little bit for the first time in at
- 1:00:51Speaker 3: least a couple of years because of Meyer Anthony.
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: I like Dick too. What now.
- 1:01:01Speaker 5: I really like how the young kids are like I
- 1:01:04Speaker 5: don't know, I keep saying, like the Boston female sports
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: teams like love them and are obsessing over them, and
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: they're like celebrities around town again, like going to the
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: hottest places with the hottest girls in the city, and
- 1:01:17Speaker 5: I just I like that in my athletes.
- 1:01:19Speaker 7: I like that in my athletes.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: Okay, all right, they're all out the seaport.
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: Yes, exactly.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: Let's let's go to uh Nathan in Buffalo.
- 1:01:30Speaker 16: Hey Nathan, Hey there guys.
- 1:01:33Speaker 20: So so with the Patriots, you know, we're seeing these
- 1:01:39Speaker 20: stories about them trying to get you know, Harry McLaurin.
- 1:01:42Speaker 20: Right now, what would you give up for them? Like,
- 1:01:45Speaker 20: what would you give up for that? Would you give up?
- 1:01:47Speaker 20: Because now with the running back he has, you know,
- 1:01:50Speaker 20: I have Agreen? Now would you give up Gettinger Stevenson
- 1:01:53Speaker 20: for mclauren.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: Eric Knafpeck even I would give up a second and
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: maybe some more. Paul would give up you know, private
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: parts for him.
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: I would up a first round pick. But like if
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: I could give up Antonio Gibson for him, of course
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: I would do that. That's not an option, Yeah, like
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: romondre Stevenson for Terry mclaurin's not an option. Romondre Stevenson
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: in the second round pick for Terry McLaurin might be
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: an option, But yeah, the draft pick is the key,
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: you know. Yeah, it's like back to the Red Sox.
- 1:02:24Speaker 3: Jared Duran is the guy who's the centerpiece of that
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: Joe Ryan trade that's been rumored.
- 1:02:31Speaker 7: But you're not going to get Joe Ryan for Jerreman. Yeah,
- 1:02:34Speaker 7: you're gonna have. You got to dig up a prospect too.
- 1:02:37Speaker 6: So when's the deadline the end of the month.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks Nathan.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: Yes, I would. I would be willing to give up.
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: I mean if it's a second round pick, fine, I
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: would do that.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: Eldrids in North Carolina. Hey, Eldred.
- 1:02:56Speaker 14: Bigg Yeah, question, this is one of them both. I
- 1:03:02Speaker 14: don't think it's boxber Rush or the other one. One
- 1:03:08Speaker 14: of the top analysts.
- 1:03:10Speaker 12: And in the.
- 1:03:11Speaker 14: Veil write the Patriots thirty thirty in wide receiver weapons
- 1:03:16Speaker 14: as the last year they was thirty one.
- 1:03:18Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean that's probably.
- 1:03:21Speaker 14: It's fair because what he was saying is my boy
- 1:03:25Speaker 14: is still hurt. Hollan is heard. Pop ain't showing nothing,
- 1:03:30Speaker 14: Bakery ain't showed none, Pop ain't free. They're good breaking
- 1:03:36Speaker 14: loose if he put it, and they don't have a
- 1:03:37Speaker 14: two eggs. So do you agree or do you think
- 1:03:41Speaker 14: it'll be a little different because they had their little
- 1:03:43Speaker 14: outing and I think it off the air.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: I think anything can happen with that room. I mean,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: they could be like they were last year, or Stefan
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Diggs comes in elevates everybody, Efton Chisholm becomes this slot
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: guy Poke you know, has a resurgence, Kyle Williams, you know, Like,
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: so it's so unknown.
- 1:04:07Speaker 5: Right, I think it was really difficult for them to
- 1:04:09Speaker 5: kind of factor the Patriots into these rankings because I
- 1:04:12Speaker 5: mean you see that and you're like, Okay, it's kind
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: of fair because of.
- 1:04:14Speaker 6: The unknown, but it's speculations.
- 1:04:17Speaker 5: So much room to just really surprise people.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it's I would need.
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that thirty might be a little low.
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: Maybe they're like, you know, somewhere in the low twenties,
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: you know, twenty six, twenty seven. But you know, I'm
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: not going to quibble over a spot or two. Yeah,
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: Like Digs was already not Digs from Buffalo last year
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: before we got.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Just he was, but he was on pace for a
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: thousand years.
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: On pace to average ten yards to catch. Yeah, that's
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: well below his average.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: But still a thousand yards. The volume was going to be.
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: There, Yeah, but that's below what he was, ok. He
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: was a fifteen fourteen to fifteen hundred guy. Yeah, he
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: was on pace for a thousand. It's fred now he
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: was well below what he was. Okay, now he will
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: be the best the Patriots have, assuming he's healthy. Yes,
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: And I think that's why you move up a few
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: notches because you didn't have that. But the rest is
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: all kind of what you had, Kyle Williams is what
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: you had with Jalen Polk potential until prove he proves it,
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: and I think he's going to be better than Jalen Polk.
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: I like his skill set more than I like Jalen
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: Polk's skill set. I'm higher on him than I was
- 1:05:31Speaker 3: Jalen Polk.
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: But it's all unknown. It's all unknown.
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: I like the idea of Kyle Williams more than I
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: like the idea of Jalen Polk.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: And then, of course the big factor is how much
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: better will Drake May be and how much does his
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: improvement elevate the wide receivers like it's.
- 1:05:48Speaker 7: All that's that's probably the most important point.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: That's the big unknown this year is how much improved.
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: Maybe you could have the same caliber of players around
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: Drake Made that you did last year, but Drake May
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: is going to be so much better than he was.
- 1:06:03Speaker 7: It's going to look better, right.
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: It's a good point, all right, foods here, So we'll
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: take a break.

- 1:08:00Speaker 9: Pick fourth overall, Will Campbell, Well, welcome to the Patriots.
- 1:08:04Speaker 9: I know you've been through the car wash, so I
- 1:08:07Speaker 9: know it's been a long day, so we're not going
- 1:08:09Speaker 9: to keep you too long, but we appreciate you stopping in.
- 1:08:11Speaker 18: Yeah, no doubt. I'm super excited to be here. It's
- 1:08:14Speaker 18: an honor to you know, represent this organization and I
- 1:08:18Speaker 18: just can't wait for the future.
- 1:08:19Speaker 4: So it's Mike, it's Evan, it's Paul, I'm Fred. We're
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: in house. So you're you're safe.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: Here, no doubt you were.
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: We have what we call BTT guys. Would you happen
- 1:08:31Speaker 4: to know what that is?
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: That's a bang the table guy. So when we were
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: banging the table for Will Campbell before.
- 1:08:38Speaker 18: The draft, I'd like to hear that.
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: Yeah, Like, we were all sold on you being being
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: our left tackle. So we're excited about that. So guys jumping,
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: I mean I gotta jump in.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: Well, just we watched you last night right after you
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: were selected, and we watched you walk to the stage
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: and you were interviewed briefly and you got emotional.
- 1:08:53Speaker 4: I think we've felt the emotion there for you.
- 1:08:56Speaker 3: I mean, just now we have a little bit of
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: time away from that.
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: What was last night like for you?
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: What a whirlwind it all was?
- 1:09:02Speaker 18: Yeah, I mean it was amazing. I put a lot
- 1:09:04Speaker 18: of work into, you know, last night, and you know,
- 1:09:06Speaker 18: for me to be able to hear my name and
- 1:09:08Speaker 18: hear my name called early and you know, be able
- 1:09:11Speaker 18: to represent you know, this organization, you know, with the
- 1:09:14Speaker 18: history that's behind this place, the championships, be able to
- 1:09:18Speaker 18: play for coach Varibel. It's everything I could have asked
- 1:09:21Speaker 18: for to, you know, be in this best position possible.
- 1:09:24Speaker 18: I'm just super excited to get to work, meet my
- 1:09:28Speaker 18: new teammates, meet all of them, you know, build that
- 1:09:31Speaker 18: relationship with not only them but the coaches, and just
- 1:09:34Speaker 18: get back to playing ball.
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: So I'm trying to wrap my head around Will Campbell.
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: How do you describe your play style? I'm violent, nasty,
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: you know, really physical player and this common measured, you know,
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: sort of way that you you answer the questions, and
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: you're really thoughtful and just even killed. How do you
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: mix those two things on and off the field. It
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: seems like your personalities are very different.
- 1:10:00Speaker 4: You can see that switch under his armpitch.
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: Ok.
- 1:10:02Speaker 18: Yeah, that's something my dad always talked about. You got
- 1:10:05Speaker 18: to be able to flip the switch, be the cool, calm,
- 1:10:08Speaker 18: collected guy off the field. But whenever it's time to go,
- 1:10:11Speaker 18: they need to see a different you. And that's just
- 1:10:13Speaker 18: what I try to do. I try to be the
- 1:10:14Speaker 18: guy you know that's just a normal dude off the field.
- 1:10:17Speaker 18: I'm just like everybody else. I want to you know,
- 1:10:20Speaker 18: be able to interact with people. I want people to
- 1:10:22Speaker 18: you know, know that I'm personable. I can really conversate
- 1:10:25Speaker 18: with whoever it might be. And but on the field,
- 1:10:27Speaker 18: you know it's time to go. And that's just kind
- 1:10:29Speaker 18: of the mentality.
- 1:10:30Speaker 23: To try that.
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: I'm always.
- 1:10:33Speaker 4: Paul goes from zero to hio like that.
- 1:10:37Speaker 24: We've heard the story now a million times about you
- 1:10:39Speaker 24: putting Rabel on his button during the work out, which
- 1:10:42Speaker 24: I love. But I remember watching your tap against Texas
- 1:10:46Speaker 24: A and M and you took Nick scoring and you
- 1:10:48Speaker 24: tore them right out of the gap. He's two hundred
- 1:10:50Speaker 24: and sixty pounds, right, So when I heard that story
- 1:10:53Speaker 24: about Rabel, I thought of that block. But is there
- 1:10:55Speaker 24: any other blocks that stand out to you in your
- 1:10:57Speaker 24: career at LSU that are some of your favorites or
- 1:11:00Speaker 24: highlight reels or anything like that.
- 1:11:01Speaker 18: I mean, I feel like I had a couple of
- 1:11:03Speaker 18: good ones. I don't really remember, you know, each of
- 1:11:06Speaker 18: them specifically. Yes, you do, not not enough, you know,
- 1:11:11Speaker 18: But ulss she was everything I could ever ask for,
- 1:11:15Speaker 18: you know, in a university, I try to represent it
- 1:11:17Speaker 18: in the best way possible and I'm just super thankful
- 1:11:21Speaker 18: for everything that they did for me and my family.
- 1:11:23Speaker 18: You know, my three years there, and you know, even
- 1:11:25Speaker 18: though I'm a long way from Louisiana, I will still
- 1:11:28Speaker 18: represent the right way.
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: Yeah, forget about football office, sec, I want to talk
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: about the sporting goods store that you've been in your
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: family for a long time. How cool was that growing up?
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: But like you just walk instid, I need a new
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: baseball glob. My father owned up hardware store, so all
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: I could get.
- 1:11:42Speaker 6: Was paint, So.
- 1:11:45Speaker 18: Yeah, no doubt. I mean, whenever I would go in
- 1:11:48Speaker 18: and I'd be like, Mom, I need new shoes, she'd
- 1:11:50Speaker 18: be like, that's not.
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: How it worked.
- 1:11:52Speaker 18: That's how it's working today. I knew it, and she
- 1:11:56Speaker 18: would she would usually take care of me. But yeah,
- 1:11:58Speaker 18: it was definitely pretty cool. My grandpa'started that. I think
- 1:12:01Speaker 18: he had probably about seven or eight stores now it's
- 1:12:03Speaker 18: down to one right down the street from my high school,
- 1:12:06Speaker 18: probably about three or four minute drive from my house.
- 1:12:08Speaker 18: My mom, you know a few other people have been
- 1:12:10Speaker 18: working there for a long time, so it's pretty cool.
- 1:12:12Speaker 4: Yeah, that is I think that'd just be cool. And
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: you get a lot of friends too.
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: Hey, well.
- 1:12:18Speaker 18: All the drama goes Oh yeah, hear everything in there.
- 1:12:23Speaker 7: The high school stuff.
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: I wanted to ask you about Andrew Whitworth and your
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: he I think he went to the same high school
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: and now we went to rival okay rival high schools.
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: But he was someone you really looked up to being
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: from your area.
- 1:12:34Speaker 18: Yeah, no doubt. I think. You know, whenever you're a
- 1:12:36Speaker 18: young aspiring offensive lineman and you know you want to
- 1:12:39Speaker 18: be the best, you look at guys like him and
- 1:12:41Speaker 18: Cam Robinson, even though they went to the rival high
- 1:12:45Speaker 18: school that I don't really care for too much. I'd
- 1:12:48Speaker 18: probably say some vulgar words about him if we weren't
- 1:12:50Speaker 18: on the air, right, But yeah, I mean they did
- 1:12:54Speaker 18: it the right way. They went about their business from
- 1:12:57Speaker 18: a young age in high school to college, even though
- 1:13:00Speaker 18: Cam went to Alabama. But you know, whenever you look
- 1:13:04Speaker 18: at guys like that, they've been successful at every level
- 1:13:06Speaker 18: that they played at. They've also been great in the community,
- 1:13:10Speaker 18: and that's something that I wanted to do. So I
- 1:13:12Speaker 18: really looked up to both of those guys.
- 1:13:14Speaker 24: Well, you were asked about working with Duke Mannyweather this offseason.
- 1:13:18Speaker 24: Everybody that doesn't know is a very well known offensive
- 1:13:21Speaker 24: line guru trainer. Just what have you guys been working
- 1:13:23Speaker 24: on to get ready for your rookie season.
- 1:13:25Speaker 18: Yeah, I mean really just everything. You know, he's the
- 1:13:28Speaker 18: best I think, you know, this past offseason or this
- 1:13:31Speaker 18: past season he had eight or nine Pro Bowlers that
- 1:13:33Speaker 18: you know he trained specifically. So that's something that I
- 1:13:37Speaker 18: want to be a part of any way, that you know,
- 1:13:39Speaker 18: he can critique my game and help me put the
- 1:13:41Speaker 18: best product on the field. It's something that I'm interested
- 1:13:44Speaker 18: in every off season. So I've really enjoyed the time
- 1:13:47Speaker 18: that I've spent with him so far. He's taught me
- 1:13:50Speaker 18: a lot, just to know, expanding my game in every aspect,
- 1:13:53Speaker 18: and it's something I continue to look forward to.
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: I have a quick question for you, you know, kind
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: of off the beaten path. We live here Innoing and
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: we have Boston College, but we don't really have what
- 1:14:02Speaker 3: you guys have in terms of college football. You in
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: the SEC, which is the NFL of college football. What's
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: the best venue besides LSU. What's the best venue if
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: I wanted to see if I could go down and
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: take a trip to watch a major college football game,
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: which I've never really done, what would you recommend?
- 1:14:19Speaker 18: Really? Honestly, you know, every venue in the SEC, except
- 1:14:23Speaker 18: maybe two or.
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: Three at Vanderbilts out.
- 1:14:27Speaker 18: I'm not going to say anything, but I mean like,
- 1:14:30Speaker 18: I played at some really cool places. The most underrated
- 1:14:35Speaker 18: one I feel like, in my opinion was Auburn at
- 1:14:37Speaker 18: Jordan Hare. That's a pretty electric environment. Florida has a
- 1:14:41Speaker 18: great environment. Texas A and M. I never played at Tennessee,
- 1:14:46Speaker 18: but I kind of figure that Tennessee is probably number two,
- 1:14:48Speaker 18: right behind us, and then Kyle Field and then probably
- 1:14:52Speaker 18: Bryant Denny Cool.
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: So really a lot to choose from.
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and now great moments in history. Luke's in North Attleborough.
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: What's up, Luke? Luke? But yep, you just called come on, yep.
- 1:15:14Speaker 25: Do you think some things are better left a chance?
- 1:15:18Speaker 25: Like it depends on what you talk, rather not scad
- 1:15:22Speaker 25: or replayed for like thirty minutes during a game and
- 1:15:26Speaker 25: maybe just move on and let it be up the
- 1:15:28Speaker 25: chance instead of everything being right down to the nitty
- 1:15:31Speaker 25: gritty of you know.
- 1:15:33Speaker 5: What I mean?
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: No, no, so rather than what chance started?
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: Are some things left better left better left to chance?
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: Is that what you say? Right?
- 1:15:46Speaker 15: Well?
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: Not like you know, sexually transmitted disease. You don't want
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: to like leave that to chance.
- 1:15:51Speaker 25: I got pink guy right now, Well.
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: There you go. See you left that the chance and
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: now you can't see how know that's another great moment
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: from all right back here and Patriot's Unfiltered eight five
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: five pass five hundred is the hotline. What is it?
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: Podcasts at patriots dot com is the podcast at patriots

- 1:16:30Speaker 5: There will be a line of questioning related to Tuesday's
- 1:16:33Speaker 5: very morbid section of the show.
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: About what happens after you die. Yeah, you doesn't have
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: to be morbid.
- 1:16:39Speaker 6: You got really deep.
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: Yeah, but it doesn't have to be morbid.
- 1:16:43Speaker 7: My desires aren't morbid.
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: Yeah. If you think that your life hereafter is even better.
- 1:16:47Speaker 7: Than I want to, like, sit back and be entertained.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I have some hope.
- 1:16:52Speaker 5: We'll have a little bit of that. And then I
- 1:16:54Speaker 5: was thinking maybe on Tuesday's show we reserve a little portion.
- 1:16:58Speaker 6: For guests that listens.
- 1:17:00Speaker 5: Okay, Ohne organized all the photos, pulled them all together,
- 1:17:04Speaker 5: and I'm thinking we could do it in a YouTube short,
- 1:17:07Speaker 5: but the format might be better.
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: Okay, so that's so our last open show before training camps.
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: That'll be the feeling.
- 1:17:15Speaker 7: I'm not going to do well on that.
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: Back to your thing, Paul about reviewing your life after
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: you Albert Brooks made a really really funny movie about that,
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: where he dies and he's forced to review his life.
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: He's like in front of a board that's deciding if
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: I go to heaven. So they make him look back
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: on his life and I think this, I forget how
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: it went, but he.
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: I don't want that, so, you know, but it's really funny.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: I forget the name of the movie. But Albert Brooks,
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: I remember laughing out loud several times at that movie.
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: You're gonna get about ten emails now? Oh yeah, Fred
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: the movie you were thinking obvious.
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: That's fine. That's why I say it.
- 1:17:54Speaker 6: I want people to write it that have had like
- 1:17:56Speaker 6: defending your life.
- 1:17:57Speaker 5: I want someone to be like, oh, I had a
- 1:17:59Speaker 5: near death experience. Answer like, I died for five minutes
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: and they brought me back, And this is what I like.
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: If that you've experienced that writ in.
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: Well, all these near, you know, these ones where I
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: died and I got revived. But while I was in
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: the pro like, I had all these things which proved
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: to me that there's an afterlife. I'm not buying that
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: because I think their brain hadn't totally shut off and
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: there's stuff going on.
- 1:18:24Speaker 6: Maybe have you ever talked to a hospice nurse about it.
- 1:18:28Speaker 5: No, there's a lot of interesting patterns that are almost
- 1:18:33Speaker 5: always the same end of life care or in those circumstances,
- 1:18:37Speaker 5: And I think a hospice nurse was on like a
- 1:18:41Speaker 5: podcast circuit or wrote some book about it recently because
- 1:18:44Speaker 5: it came up, but pretty relevant to this, but it
- 1:18:47Speaker 5: was interesting stuff.
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: This is why the question was Fred or Paul on Jeopardy,
- 1:18:52Speaker 3: because if Alex was included, it really wouldn't have been
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: much of a choice, right, right, Alex would have been
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: the choice to go on Jeopardy. That's right.
- 1:19:00Speaker 5: I think I'd do good for like the one hundred
- 1:19:02Speaker 5: level questions and then so it would get spotty interesting.
- 1:19:06Speaker 5: I tell you, I'd crush the sport like the sports
- 1:19:08Speaker 5: sections they suck at those.
- 1:19:11Speaker 7: Yeah, I would.
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: You would easily run the table in that category because
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: usually the other two people don't know anything that sports,
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: but being an avid Jeopardy guy, as I tell you
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: that it's one of my.
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: Favorite, I know you're eighty.
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: I have definitely found that I don't do as well
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: as I used to do. And it started with that
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: James Hols hour when.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: He tried prevaged.
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: When he dominant, when he started to dominate, he was
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: the one. I think that sort of initiated the go
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: from the bottom up, because it's always that it's the
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: search for the daily doubles, and she starts at the
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: bottom when I work my way into the category from
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: the time, because I get almost all of the ones
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: at the top, and then I sort of get an
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: idea of how the category works, right because the easy
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: one is at the top and I can go down
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: and I would do better, right, But I'm like Alex,
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: I get all the one in two hundred ones.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: And isn't that half the battle is figuring out how
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: each one works the structure of it.
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a quirk, and then I definitely do not
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: do well in specific category before and afters I cannot
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: do you ever.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: Watched I don't. I watched it, obviously, but I don't.
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: I'm not a watcher, like you.
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: Be like the Alex Francisco forty nine ers, you know,
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: like I just never do well on those, Like there's
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: like two parts of the thing, and I always know
- 1:20:30Speaker 3: what they the answers are. That would be the example
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: of I get more right when I'm home because I
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: say to Beth and I'll be like, that's what I meant.
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I can't do that on the show, you know,
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: I wouldn't get credit for it. Yeah.
- 1:20:41Speaker 6: Also the buzzer, you like got a practice buzzing.
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: But if they went from the top to down to
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: the easy ones, so the hard ones, I would do better.
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: But no one does that anymore. They all start at
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: the bottom and work their way through. They start in
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: the middle trying to get the daily doubles, and then
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: they go down and then the easy ones they'll usually
- 1:20:59Speaker 3: the last ones off the board.
- 1:21:00Speaker 5: I would start with like the two hundreds, Yeah, hit
- 1:21:03Speaker 5: a two hundred, wait into the four hundreds, see where I.
- 1:21:07Speaker 3: Fall I feel, And then the sports categories I would
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: just yeah, clean up. That would be dominant clean up well,
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: like you know Billboard top hundred hits, like number Billboard
- 1:21:17Speaker 3: number one hits, like bang.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: Bang, Well I saw one I love it when they
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: have these brainy acts on there and they do ask
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: sports and like nobody knows any There was one how
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: many points do you get for a safety in football?
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: And nobody got it?
- 1:21:34Speaker 11: No.
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: I think two of them got it wrong and the
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: other one didn't guess right. That's funny. It was one
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: three and no one gets.
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: Right, and we think, you know, but like if you
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: don't follow football, like what the hell is the safe?
- 1:21:47Speaker 6: Those people are so smart, they're like above it, They're
- 1:21:50Speaker 6: above football.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: Yeah. Kevin in South Carolina rights in my freshman year
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: roommate at you Mass was on house Painters, House Hunters. Sorry,
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: he confirms exactly the process you describe. The best part
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: of his tours was his South Shore accent and his
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: sister's talking about potties and hotwood floors. We put a
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: sign in our dorm room in two thousand and four
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: that said socks and seven after Poppy put one over
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: the wall after midnight. Not exactly a sign on Beacon Street,
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: but we left it up all year. Love the show.
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: Alex has the best passive TV taste. Go outside and
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: jump in a pool. It's summer, Okay, That's how.
- 1:22:32Speaker 5: I feel it's too nice out to be watching TV.
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: Yeah. Absolutely.
- 1:22:37Speaker 6: Do you guys get fomo in the summer or not.
- 1:22:39Speaker 5: It's not really fomo, but it's like you have this
- 1:22:44Speaker 5: urge to want to be outside at all times to
- 1:22:46Speaker 5: take advantage of it or be doing something outside because
- 1:22:49Speaker 5: you only have like two three months. So I get
- 1:22:52Speaker 5: stressed out on like a nice evening night where I'm like, well,
- 1:22:57Speaker 5: like let's go seat at a restaurant and sit out
- 1:22:59Speaker 5: on the patio, or like let's go hang out of
- 1:23:00Speaker 5: my mom's pool, or like I always have to be
- 1:23:02Speaker 5: doing something.
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: Else take advantage of it.
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: Absolutely, yeah, And with camp start next week, like you know,
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: one of my friends fight during the show. He actually
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: just texted me is like I just had a guy
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: drop out any interest in playing nine tomorrow?
- 1:23:15Speaker 7: And I'm like.
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: Trying to figure out and I'm like, yeah, it's gonna
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: be late enough. Yeah, I said, yeah, count me in,
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: Like because that's the kind of thing like once camp
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: starts next week, that's the poem moll Like, I'm you
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: won't be able to do as much for at least
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: a few weeks, right, We've got a.
- 1:23:30Speaker 7: Couple of weeks of public practices.
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: Yeah, twelve to and a half weeks, twelve total, so
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: it would be a while.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: The dates are available on pageres dot com. Yes, yep,
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: let's go back to the phones. We'll go to oh
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: in Houston. I, Oh, what's up? Oh?
- 1:23:49Speaker 16: Hey, what's up?
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: Brad?
- 1:23:51Speaker 25: Hey, Paul ab Hi He Yeah.
- 1:23:53Speaker 26: I just want to say you got to do a
- 1:23:55Speaker 26: great job this off season. And then I have two
- 1:23:59Speaker 26: bush just one PU question and then one football related question.
- 1:24:04Speaker 26: My PU question is whatever happened with Mike from Florida?
- 1:24:08Speaker 16: But when we used to go on long.
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: Tanges Mike and Stinky Florida, Yeah, I'm not sure.
- 1:24:13Speaker 26: Yeah, you would get into long tanges and it would
- 1:24:19Speaker 26: be a little cringe most of the time.
- 1:24:21Speaker 16: But I was just wondering, you know, if he's okay.
- 1:24:24Speaker 16: My football related question was that who.
- 1:24:28Speaker 26: Do you think we're taking on the roster when it
- 1:24:30Speaker 26: comes to tight ends and at fullback and you think
- 1:24:34Speaker 26: is it's going to make an impact with as far
- 1:24:36Speaker 26: as protection for Drake may and the run game. I'll
- 1:24:40Speaker 26: take it off one guy.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: Okay, tight end and full back. I mean they may
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: not have a fullback.
- 1:24:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I think most people feel like they're
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: going to keep that kid that I say that kid
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: because I don't remember his name in full back.
- 1:24:56Speaker 7: Lobby Lobby, I don't know something like that.
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: But the tight ends, well, I mean Henry and Hooper,
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: I'd be surprised if they weren't, you know, the biggest
- 1:25:07Speaker 3: parts of that. But maybe Jack Westover has a shot
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: to be an extra tight end. I mean, jahem Bell
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: still here. These are kinds of things that you sort
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: of sift through as the camp practices start and you
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: start to see who the guys are that are filtering in.
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: And Jack Westover is the guy who filtered in a
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: lot during the springy Hooper missed some time with various ailments,
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: So yeah, I mean there'll be three.
- 1:25:33Speaker 5: I was like a relationship there too. I think their
- 1:25:36Speaker 5: lockers were near each other.
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: And Josh definitely likes a fullback, so I wouldn't rule
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: out the possibility.
- 1:25:42Speaker 7: Why can I not think of the guy's name?
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: It was a lot.
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: I thought it was Lobby l A B B. But
- 1:25:50Speaker 3: I might be wrong, Brett.
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: While you're looking that up, Brett Lemonster writes in he
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: said Coldplay is the Christian from la of rock bands.
- 1:25:57Speaker 7: Oh wow, it doesn't sound like.
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: I'd rather smell Chris Martin's ex wife's candles than listen
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: to their music or Christian from La Wow, somebody doesn't
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: like Coldplay. I wanted to send this in when Evan
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: was there, but I'll probably forget by then. On two
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: different shows last week, he used the expression bigger than
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: his breeches, except both times he said bigger than his bridges.
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: I'm thinking he thinks of a monster truck on a
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: small bridge. This email is a little longer than my
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: typical ones. Can you forward this to Alix for consideration
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: of best email of the week? Now, doesn't it doesn't
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: hit it? The expression is too big for his bridges.
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: That's the proper expression, correct bridges, meaning your your pants.
- 1:26:44Speaker 5: I kind of like that. We each have a expression
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: that we slightly had the wrong use the wrong word
- 1:26:51Speaker 5: for so it creates a new life.
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 1:26:56Speaker 3: Andy Hart was great at that for all intents and purposes.
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: Did you ever hear that phrase intense and purposes? Intensive purposes?
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: I used to say, yeah, and then he would make
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: up names.
- 1:27:07Speaker 7: Well, it's hingea Hingin.
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: It was one of his made up He still uses
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: that hingin on Rick and Louisville with the Jaws turning fifty.
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: I wanted Paul to share his favorite Matt Hooper line.
- 1:27:23Speaker 7: A favorite Matt Hooper line. H how about.
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: Let it go Quint. Let it go Quint. It's not
- 1:27:37Speaker 3: a shark.
- 1:27:38Speaker 5: A listener tagged me in a TikTok, But they wanted
- 1:27:40Speaker 5: me to show you guys just about the history of
- 1:27:43Speaker 5: the Jaws movie poster. And it's apparently not a great
- 1:27:47Speaker 5: white shark on the poster.
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: What is it a makou or I forget they yeah,
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: I did, it's the documentary, but.
- 1:27:55Speaker 6: It's it's not a great white.
- 1:27:57Speaker 3: I watched the documentary and they talked about that poster
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: a lot, and they didn't seem to say that. Not
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: call on anybody out here because I don't know Shark
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: short Fin Mago show.
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: There you go see. I know my sharks, Brandon and
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: Maine will never stop talking about uniforms. I agree a
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: change is needed. So called blueberry uniforms are terrible. The
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: fix is really not complicated. Blue jersey, white jersey, red jersey,
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: the Nineties blues or the Dynasty Blues all are fine.
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: What we need to do is get rid of the
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: color rush crap or the jersey and pants are the
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: same color. That's the starter. However, the biggest change should
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: be the helmet. Just make it white. A white helmet
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: with the flying elvis is a thing of beauty. I
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: agree with that. I've always wanted to see that.
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: I would like to see a white helmet with that
- 1:28:54Speaker 3: yeah logo as well.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: I've seen. I've seen concept are posted on Twitter acts
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: show what this would look like in its absolute fire
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: white helmet with any of the blue or red jerseys,
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: white pants, and it doesn't get any better. Make it happen.
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: Fred the fullback is brock lampy lampy.
- 1:29:14Speaker 7: That was closed lobby lampy.
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: Close enough, all right.
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: The amount of consternation that uniforms create will never cease
- 1:29:26Speaker 3: to amine.
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: People have very very strong opinions on apparel.
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: Like I personally think that the Drew Bledsoe like nineties
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: era Patriots uniforms are among the ugliest things I've ever seen.
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: They're so cool, but who cares.
- 1:29:39Speaker 5: A lot of nineties fashion was actually like, yeah, it
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: was really ugly, but so cool that it's not ugly.
- 1:29:46Speaker 7: You know, And I just I don't know.
- 1:29:50Speaker 3: I don't know how people lose sleep worrying about what
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: they were gonna wear.
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: If they worry about those uniforms, Oh, it's like they
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: have to wear them, you know.
- 1:30:01Speaker 5: But if the team had played well in them, right,
- 1:30:04Speaker 5: it wouldn't be a topic.
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: See. I didn't particularly like the uniforms that they wont
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: all those Super Bowls in, but again, who cares what people?
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: Aaron from Bonnie Dune writes in after listening to Tuesday's
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: show in Mike's story of ashes reminded me of something
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: my dad told me. He was in the Navy for
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: thirty years and at sea for twenty. Apparently one of
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: the common duties was to throw people's ashes overboard, and
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: he wants the same, but has a very specific time
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: and place he wants it done on. When I ask why,
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: he said, because at that area, at that time of day,
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: there's a consistent wind that comes in and blows the
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: ashes back into the faces of people on deck. Apparently
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: a lot of the old sailors request the exact same thing,
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: like some kind of traditional final hazing ritual. Also with
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: to talk about souls and consciousness after death, there are
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: some theories and research about whether or not consciousness is
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: a part of the quantum realm and that once the
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: physical vessel is gone, that information would most likely still
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: be present and functioning in the same capacity as it
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: did before. Thus you'd still be around after death. The
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: whole quantum world is absolutely nuts in sci fi magic
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: that no one understands. So who knows.
- 1:31:22Speaker 5: There's a crazy rabbit hole that you can go down
- 1:31:25Speaker 5: where quantum physics meets Christianity and it's a wild ride.
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: Well, I.
- 1:31:32Speaker 5: It is very fascinating.
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: There's a good book by Neil Stevenson called John Dodge
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: in Hell.
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: Fall.
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: It's got like two names, and it's all about this
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: guy who dies and he's rich and back then, well
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: in the future, they have this technology where they can
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: digitize your brain before you die, so that when you
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: die you come back to life in this digital world
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: and the world you create, the world from your the
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: memories that you had, from your religion and all this stuff.
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: And so the book is in like two sections, the
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: real world and then his digital world. It's I found
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: it fascinating. I really liked it. That's cool by Neil Stevenson,
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: Like I'm into all the biblical stuff, and like so
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: much of his digital world. You could see the biblical
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: stories that He learned as a kid that if he
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: was creating his world from scratch, came into play.
- 1:32:32Speaker 6: YEA, that's cool.
- 1:32:33Speaker 3: So say, I'm just superficial. I'm like you, I want
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: to go back and swing at that pitch that you
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: needn't right.
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: Give me a second chance at everything that I did wrong.
- 1:32:40Speaker 8: You know, yeah, it would you failed at that hitting
- 1:32:47Speaker 8: that ball, so that you could do whatever you would.
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: Heaven would be due over heaven. It's all about about duovers.
- 1:32:56Speaker 15: You know.
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: It's called there's two names. Is fall By It's by
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: Neil Stevenson or Dodging Hell or dodge in Hell. Yeah,
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: it's it's I would recommend it to anyone. It's it's
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: I found it fascinating.
- 1:33:14Speaker 5: Neil Stephenson.
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I read all his stuff. His last book sucked. Yeah,
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: it's all about.
- 1:33:21Speaker 7: Like highly recommended this last book.
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: It's all about climate engineering and all this stuff. I
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: thought it was stupid. Let's see who is this? Robert
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: writes it on a Tuesday show. You were talking about
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: your first experience watching Jaws.
- 1:33:36Speaker 5: Oh, he wrote snow Crash.
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: He did.
- 1:33:38Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: His first book was Cryptonomicon, which was which got him
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: on the everybody's radar.
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: What number did he wear in the seventies?
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: Come on, Neil Stevenson, what's participase for?
- 1:33:50Speaker 3: Everybody can play.
- 1:33:52Speaker 5: Sci fi books?
- 1:33:53Speaker 3: Okay?
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: Uh So in seventy five, I was six years old,
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: and my memory is a bit fuzzy. What I do
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: remember is my older brother wanting to sit in the
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: front row. This, of course, meant I had to sit
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: in the front row when the head popped out of
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: the boat. This is exactly what I said. When the
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: head popped out of the boat. I ran back to
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: where my mother was sitting and watched the rest of
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: the movie with her hand over my eyes. No worries.
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: Therapy wasn't necessary, as Jaws remains in my top ten
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: of all time movies. My brother, however, made claims that
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: I peed my pants. Fake news. Now a football related question.
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: Of all the free agent additions, who are you most
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: worried might be a bust? Most worried? Most were Milton
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: Williams to be a bust because he hasn't played full time.
- 1:34:40Speaker 3: That's a good pick, Fred, because you can't just say, like, well,
- 1:34:44Speaker 3: mac Hollins is going to be a bust. Well, okay,
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: well he's like, you know, fourth or fifth receiver, a
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: special teams guy. You know that's not.
- 1:34:50Speaker 7: But they invested a lot into Milton.
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: Williams to be something.
- 1:34:54Speaker 3: He has to back. He has yet to be right,
- 1:34:56Speaker 3: So that would be if he turned out to be
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: a bust, that would.
- 1:34:59Speaker 7: Be yeah, I would that would be pissed think the answer.
- 1:35:03Speaker 3: But I'll just for digs one B.
- 1:35:05Speaker 7: I'm going to go with Will Campbell. Okay, if he's
- 1:35:08Speaker 7: a bus that's yeah.
- 1:35:09Speaker 6: But he's not a free agent.
- 1:35:10Speaker 3: Oh sorry, yeah, an't.
- 1:35:13Speaker 6: Listening an addition, but not a free agency edition?
- 1:35:15Speaker 3: Correct?
- 1:35:16Speaker 20: Uh.
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: Travis and Adams writesin always enjoyed the show as a
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: twenty five year veteran of the VFX industry. That's visual
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: effects for you, not in the Hollywood business. I couldn't
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: resist jumping in when you brought up special effects and
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: Jaws and how they might not feel as convincing if
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: done today with today's VFX. It's a close topic to
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: my heart. VFX often gets a bad rap, and while
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: I completely understand why there's a lot of work out
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: there that looks obviously artificial, usually comes down to one thing. Money.
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: Studios either try to cut costs and do it on
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: the cheap, or they go the opposite direction and spend
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: so much on a creature or effect that they insisted
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: becomes the centerpiece of the shot. More often than not,
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: these choices could make it harder for VFX to shine.
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: The thing is, VFX is just a tool, and when
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: it's used properly, it could be completely invisible to the
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: naked eye. Just figured i'd throw my two cents in. Yeah,
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: I can see that.
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: I think it's like anything else is good and bad.
- 1:36:21Speaker 5: I wonder how AI will change the graphic production AI.
- 1:36:24Speaker 20: Yeah.
- 1:36:25Speaker 5: Well, speaking of speaking of your shows, the report, yeah
- 1:36:31Speaker 5: about Drake.
- 1:36:32Speaker 7: May Yeah, unfortunate.
- 1:36:34Speaker 3: Anyway, I was learning a little bit about that because
- 1:36:39Speaker 3: I didn't know that I had been talked about on
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: the air like that. But yeah, I think they talked
- 1:36:43Speaker 3: about it this morning. Remember when we used to do
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: the show on wlv I channel fifty six.
- 1:36:49Speaker 7: Yeah, Mike rete Stinger, Yes, yes, that show.
- 1:36:52Speaker 15: Yeah.
- 1:36:52Speaker 3: So I was out to eat during vacation, Beth and
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: I went, and it made me think of it when
- 1:36:59Speaker 3: Alex was talking about like the foll mall, like, oh,
- 1:37:01Speaker 3: it's beautiful night, let's go out in the deck. While
- 1:37:03Speaker 3: we're out in a deck, beautiful night right on the
- 1:37:05Speaker 3: water in Beverly, and one of the lv I producers
- 1:37:11Speaker 3: came up. His name was George, and I sort of
- 1:37:14Speaker 3: I didn't recognize him when I saw he was. He
- 1:37:16Speaker 3: was like sitting right behind us. But when they were
- 1:37:18Speaker 3: done eating, he came over and introduced himself and I
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: did remember him as he started talking, and it was
- 1:37:24Speaker 3: one of the producers on those shows, and it was
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: definitely st Stinger that kind of time, and he's like,
- 1:37:29Speaker 3: how's Fred doing You still it's Fred Stilee. I was like, yeah,
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: like you still still my boss? Well, he wondered if
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: he was still there on Earth, and it was just
- 1:37:41Speaker 3: just reminding me of that with all this stuff you
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: just said with like I said Alex talking about follm MO,
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: because that was exactly what we did. We're on vacation,
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: it's a beautiful night, let's go outside and eat somewhere.
- 1:37:53Speaker 7: And then that guy comes up.
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: And says, hello, Yeah, we used to do the Well
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: that was like it was twenty years of PFW progress
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: back then. But we did the TV show at Channel
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: fifty six. People in Boston, well aware of what that
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: station is. It's c W now, yeah, it's the c
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: W and we did it in their studios and Mike Bretay,
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: who was their sports guy, was the host and uh
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: Mike Woncom Mike Woncom was the weather guy channel for
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: he'd come over and give us the he was great
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: the weather, what he thought it would be for the game,
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: and and Retae would host the show and he'd have
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: like the yellow challenge, not the challenge flag, but the penalty.
- 1:38:30Speaker 7: We argued, threw a flag. He blow the whistle and
- 1:38:33Speaker 7: throw a flag.
- 1:38:33Speaker 1: Was usually me and Brian And one time he was
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: he was teaching us terms that they use in TV,
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: like SOD and stinger and in the middle of the show,
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: I just I just yelled. I just yelled at I
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: yelled out stinger and like he froze, like like what
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: do you do with you can't.
- 1:38:51Speaker 7: Say that, like like sod is sound on tape right?
- 1:38:55Speaker 3: I took broadcasting so out of nowhere Fred.
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: And he like he didn't know what to do, Like
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: he froze in the middle of the show. It was funny.
- 1:39:07Speaker 3: Those to drive, but those are those are the salad days. Yeah,
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: we had to drive all the way to uh, all
- 1:39:13Speaker 3: the way georgiester.
- 1:39:14Speaker 24: That was a lot.
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: Well, it was right next to the Globe, there's studios.
- 1:39:18Speaker 3: That's where the hub has since moved, Yes Boulevard, Yeah,
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: right next to where the old Sports Hub was.
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: They've moved, They've moved, things have changed, Paul, Yeah, we've
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: seen it all.
- 1:39:30Speaker 3: It's good though, because that's that was That was a
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: tough ride. It was the Waltham studios.
- 1:39:35Speaker 7: Now it's easy nothing.
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: Yeah, Sean's and Vancouver. What's up?
- 1:39:40Speaker 27: Seand I got a few things, Alex. I completely agree
- 1:39:45Speaker 27: with you about reality shows. I feel the same way,
- 1:39:47Speaker 27: except I have one extra caveat as an actor, I
- 1:39:50Speaker 27: always need there to be more scripted productions. So that's
- 1:39:53Speaker 27: another reason I don't watch that stuff. Uh hey, back
- 1:39:56Speaker 27: to when they were asking about Robin Williams versus Tom Hanks.
- 1:40:00Speaker 27: To me, Tom Hanks is the most reliable actor, but
- 1:40:03Speaker 27: Robin Williams was absolutely the best improviser at all of
- 1:40:08Speaker 27: all times. And you know, as a director, you have
- 1:40:10Speaker 27: to try and figure out how we're going to like
- 1:40:12Speaker 27: reel it in, how we're going to get the world
- 1:40:14Speaker 27: of according to guard performance where there's no improv or
- 1:40:17Speaker 27: we're going to.
- 1:40:17Speaker 16: Go completely the other way with missus doubtfire. So it
- 1:40:20Speaker 16: was like a delicate balance and.
- 1:40:22Speaker 27: You can land up with the survivors where you don't
- 1:40:23Speaker 27: have the spirit and you're just relying on his improblem
- 1:40:26Speaker 27: and it doesn't work. Now with the number of the guarantee,
- 1:40:32Speaker 27: thing like which team do we guarantee to me? It
- 1:40:35Speaker 27: would be the Browns because in terms of right now
- 1:40:38Speaker 27: where the Auths are there at five and a half
- 1:40:42Speaker 27: favorites to beat the Browns home, and it's like middle
- 1:40:44Speaker 27: of the season. They know the quarterback. So that's the
- 1:40:46Speaker 27: one I would guarantee at this point if I had
- 1:40:48Speaker 27: to put a gun in my head. But in terms
- 1:40:50Speaker 27: of Alex's if it's a wish for a guarantee to me,
- 1:40:53Speaker 27: be the Ravens because that's the most unlikely one in Baltimore.
- 1:40:58Speaker 27: And also just to point stuff, they will be at Tennessee, Paul,
- 1:41:02Speaker 27: so that brings it down a time, but they can then.
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: I would stick with New Orleans. Then today New Orleans
- 1:41:07Speaker 3: is worse than Tennessee.
- 1:41:08Speaker 27: No, that's another one of the six.
- 1:41:10Speaker 16: Yeah for sure.
- 1:41:12Speaker 27: Now, I like the Shawn's point, you know, like we
- 1:41:15Speaker 27: need to draft O R. Terry McLaurin, and I know
- 1:41:18Speaker 27: we haven't drafted uh first or second day wide receiver
- 1:41:23Speaker 27: since Stanley Morgan in nineteen seventy seven.
- 1:41:25Speaker 7: But I'm hoping or last year exact.
- 1:41:28Speaker 27: Well last year noted. I don't think we did Eather
- 1:41:31Speaker 27: hopefully maybe, but I don't think that's.
- 1:41:33Speaker 7: Hope is a second round pick, Yeah, that's stays two.
- 1:41:36Speaker 27: I'm saying, like, which one really hit?
- 1:41:38Speaker 3: Like we're you know, oh you know, you go back
- 1:41:41Speaker 3: to Dion wrong, but well see, I'm.
- 1:41:44Speaker 27: Ructually they trade it, so not completely like maybe if
- 1:41:47Speaker 27: he stayed the whole time instead of being traded Seattle,
- 1:41:50Speaker 27: that would it be it. But to me, it's like
- 1:41:51Speaker 27: the one hunt.
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: Of caveats an MVP.
- 1:41:55Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah that's a hit.
- 1:41:57Speaker 27: Well yeah he was great, but but yeah, I mean
- 1:41:59Speaker 27: completely But.
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: The fact they didn't stick with him doesn't mean he
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: wasn't a.
- 1:42:02Speaker 3: Good My fault that Belichick didn't pay him.
- 1:42:05Speaker 27: No, a lot of you know, injuries are not going
- 1:42:08Speaker 27: fault guys too with Malcolm Mitchell, so you never know.
- 1:42:12Speaker 27: But I'd love it to completely work out with Kyle
- 1:42:15Speaker 27: Williams and he was the third round pick, as with
- 1:42:17Speaker 27: Terry McLaurin. So there there's that. Now with Jaws, I
- 1:42:21Speaker 27: saw that in the theater and when it came out
- 1:42:25Speaker 27: in a gun could name with my family and the
- 1:42:27Speaker 27: next day we went into the water. So we we
- 1:42:31Speaker 27: loved it as a movie, but we didn't take it seriously.
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: It didn't affect you that I didn't, thanks Sean. A
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: lot of people it did, like they were like, I'm done.
- 1:42:40Speaker 3: We were down the Cape on vacation and I did
- 1:42:43Speaker 3: not go in the ocean the rest of the trip.
- 1:42:46Speaker 5: To the oceans on the caber the Sharknfest.
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: Oh yeah, everybody left.
- 1:42:51Speaker 6: I don't swim on the ocean side anymore. I'm strictly
- 1:42:53Speaker 6: on the bay side.
- 1:42:55Speaker 7: It's warmer.
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, bay side is warm, way warmer.
- 1:43:01Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, like the seashore is cold, yeah, right, that
- 1:43:05Speaker 3: the National Sea.
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: I don't know about that, No wrong, I think I
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: think that you get the Gulf of Mexico stream on
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: the south side of the Cape. On the Bay side,
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: you don't. You don't get any of that.
- 1:43:18Speaker 7: I'll defer to you guys because experience down there.
- 1:43:21Speaker 5: But I thought it was from my experience, and my
- 1:43:23Speaker 5: experience is lower Cape, outer Cape really turo and wealthy,
- 1:43:28Speaker 5: so great hollow Beach and Churo super super warm. Whereas
- 1:43:33Speaker 5: you go to like head of the Meadow or like
- 1:43:36Speaker 5: Marcon facing England right exactly, much colder and rockier, whereas
- 1:43:42Speaker 5: the bayside really sandy.
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: Okay, that's what I last thought. I said.
- 1:43:48Speaker 7: You guys have much more experience down there than I do.
- 1:43:50Speaker 5: So that's how I feel. Maybe it's different more upper cape,
- 1:43:54Speaker 5: but in the lower cape. That's how I see it.
- 1:43:57Speaker 5: Provincetown Harbor too, Like if you're right on the tip
- 1:44:00Speaker 5: on Long Point, we'll take the boat out there and
- 1:44:03Speaker 5: then at low tide it creates like a new beach.
- 1:44:06Speaker 6: It's so warm, it's like the.
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: Best Jeff in Canada. I was looking at last year,
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: and we all know we lost thirteen games. Seven were
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: blowouts which were lost as by two plus scores, six
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: were one score games. If we're really serious about contending
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: for a playoff spop, we need to flip the script
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: and win more of those close games. If you can
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: only pick two of the five hypothetical improvements below that
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: were all problems last year that might make it possible
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: to win ten games this season, Which two would you pick?
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: There is five of them. You have to pick two. A.
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: Less sacks allowed, B better game management in the last
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: two minutes of the second and fourth quarters, C better
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: run defense, D less fumbles, or E A single pass
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: catcher with at least eighty catches. So you have to
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: pick two to get to you A ten wins. He
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: is one single pass catcher with at least eighty catches.
- 1:45:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I'd probably say, like, I'd probably just go with
- 1:45:14Speaker 3: the fumbles, just because turnovers kill you.
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: What sacks a problem last year? Like number of sacks?
- 1:45:19Speaker 7: That a trick question.
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: Well, I mean, like, you know, like, but we're a
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: lot of sacks because he's running around and you know
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: the play.
- 1:45:26Speaker 3: Their offensive line was ran cheese. Okay, thirty one run blocking,
- 1:45:31Speaker 3: thirty two pass blocking or the other way around.
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: All right, So I'll take I'll take I'll take A
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: and E. Then less sacks allowed and single pass catcher
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: with eighty catches.
- 1:45:40Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, I'll go with those two. You talk me
- 1:45:43Speaker 3: out of my gift one.
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: Give Drake more time and that you know, helps improve everything.
- 1:45:48Speaker 5: The whole offense improves with that.
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, good question. I guess Bill and san Diego Paul,
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: you say you guys work for Channel fifty six. I'm
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: from Maine and I love that station as a kid
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: in Auburn, Cable equal channels fifty six and thirty eight
- 1:46:08Speaker 1: from Boston. It's a French station and the standard ABCNBCCBS
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: and PBS whatever happened to those Boston channels. As a
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: kid in the seventies and eighties, there were none better.
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: That's all we had. Yeah, think he said.
- 1:46:21Speaker 3: Fifty six and thirty eight. Yeah, that was the version
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: of cable.
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: Thirty eight still there.
- 1:46:26Speaker 3: So it's fifty six, it's it's it's cw in whatever
- 1:46:30Speaker 3: they call thirty.
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: Eight.
- 1:46:33Speaker 7: It's something like that. Yeah, is it my thirty eight?
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: I think it's called my thirty eight.
- 1:46:41Speaker 3: No, I don't know, something like that. But they're not
- 1:46:44Speaker 3: the same like they used to be. What he's talking
- 1:46:46Speaker 3: about is it was clearly it was local Boston generated programming.
- 1:46:54Speaker 3: And then like a lot of reruns of old sitcoms
- 1:46:56Speaker 3: One Tree Hill. One Tree Hill was probably on on
- 1:47:00Speaker 3: CWAW when it was a network. But like when I
- 1:47:05Speaker 3: was growing up, you'd get like on channel fifty six,
- 1:47:07Speaker 3: you'd get Gilligan's Island, Brady Bunch, you know, stuff like that.
- 1:47:11Speaker 7: Thirty eight would always.
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: Have Mash three Stooges, Three.
- 1:47:14Speaker 3: Stooges Marathons, The Odd Coupled Dick Van Dyke, Yeah, and
- 1:47:19Speaker 3: you know the Honeymooners Dana Hersey, Yeah, the movie Loft,
- 1:47:23Speaker 3: the movie Loft. They show the Deer Hunter, asked the manager,
- 1:47:25Speaker 3: remember that show. I do remember it, but I didn't
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: watch that.
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: It got high ratings at the time. What would that
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: be no back then, asked the manager. On thirty eight
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: was one of their most popular shows.
- 1:47:37Speaker 3: But they went to like National Networks and it was
- 1:47:39Speaker 3: like the WB I think was the original fifty six. Yeah,
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: and I think it was like I thought it was
- 1:47:46Speaker 3: like UPN or something for fifty for thirty eight and
- 1:47:50Speaker 3: they had like fifty six had like original programming that
- 1:47:53Speaker 3: was like I want to say, like Dawson's Creek may
- 1:47:55Speaker 3: have been on fifty six.
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: Do you remember twenty seven out of Worcester.
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: Channel twenty seven, Yeah, yeah, yeah, I used to watch
- 1:48:01Speaker 3: wrestling on that all Yeah, yeah WWWWF at the time, okay,
- 1:48:07Speaker 3: before they changed it to E.
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: I mean back, I mean you think about like how
- 1:48:11Speaker 1: Caveman we were back then. You know you had the
- 1:48:14Speaker 1: two dials. One was VHF, one was uh you know,
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: and then you know you'd have that die that rim
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: around the dial where you could tune it in to
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: make the picture better.
- 1:48:26Speaker 3: That's when twenty five first came in too. Yeah, you
- 1:48:29Speaker 3: started to get the local twenty five that's now Fox,
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: Like it was just Channel twenty five on yours.
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: Oh yeah, they had the rabbit ears.
- 1:48:39Speaker 3: But then cable came in and you had you know,
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: you had like in our house, I don't know what
- 1:48:43Speaker 3: kind of like. It was a brown like rectangular box
- 1:48:49Speaker 3: with a long wire that was attached from the box
- 1:48:52Speaker 3: attached to the TV, but you could move it to
- 1:48:55Speaker 3: wheat wharstle. Literally you would stand in with your fingers
- 1:48:58Speaker 3: on the buttons like this and right just like there
- 1:49:02Speaker 3: was like fifteen buttons across. You'd switch like the bands
- 1:49:06Speaker 3: and be like a IMF maam, and you searched to
- 1:49:08Speaker 3: like whatever tier you wanted to be on.
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: The original remotes were wired, so there was a long
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: wire from your TV to the remote.
- 1:49:14Speaker 6: I should bring that back.
- 1:49:16Speaker 3: I never had a remote that was wired like that.
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: The actual box itself was wired. But then then the
- 1:49:21Speaker 3: remotes came in.
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: It was like, oh wow, we don't need to change
- 1:49:24Speaker 1: Paul's life.
- 1:49:25Speaker 3: We don't need to be to get up. I could
- 1:49:28Speaker 3: just have my diet, pepsi and piece.
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't have to disconnect my ivy. Mike writes
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: in Belichick Versus Craft Versus Brady. At one time, Paul
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: said on the Brady Versus Belichick comparison he would give
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: a slight edge to Brady for the Patriots success. I
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: agree with Paul, what do you think the ratio would be? Now?
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: I think, based on the post Brady era, you'd have
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: to give TV twelve the vast majority of the credit.
- 1:49:56Speaker 7: And now I'm going to agree with you.
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so.
- 1:50:00Speaker 3: I've changed my tune on that one.
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: I'm pretty much done with the Brady Versus Belichick book
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: by Gary Myers, and he.
- 1:50:07Speaker 7: Agrees, but you still haven't really found my well.
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: He gives up the uh. He says what he thinks
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: it's going to be before the book ends, and then
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: the last part of the book is alternate universe stuff.
- 1:50:21Speaker 7: Oh you know, is it better?
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: No?
- 1:50:24Speaker 7: No, because I know you were kind of luke.
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: I haven't finished yet.
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, but yeah, I would agree. I was
- 1:50:30Speaker 3: always like sort of a fifty to fifty ish maybe
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: a slight edge to Brady kind of guy. But since
- 1:50:37Speaker 3: since Brady left. I've recognized the errors of my ways.
- 1:50:42Speaker 3: Brady had more to do with that than I gave
- 1:50:44Speaker 3: him credit for.
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: I don't know if we've played this one before. This
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: is Brett, Kyle and Pembroke. Who will have a better season?
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: Ramandre Stevenson or Nick Chubb Stevenson the Mario Douglas or Douglas,
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: Drake May or bow Knicks. I'm gonna go Drake May
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: Gonzo or Sauce Gardner Gonzo.
- 1:51:11Speaker 3: That's the same.
- 1:51:12Speaker 7: They both, They're both excellent. Kyle Williams or Poke Gonzo.
- 1:51:16Speaker 3: Just to say, Homer Kyle Williams or Poke Kyle Williams.
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: Mac Jones forty nine ers backup or Bailey Zappi Chiefs backup.
- 1:51:27Speaker 3: Zappi.
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: Well, who let's let's do this one again. Who do
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: you think will play more? Mac Jones or Bailey Zappy.
- 1:51:36Speaker 3: I don't think either one of them has any better
- 1:51:38Speaker 3: odds of playing well. I'm thinking injury, yeah, Like like
- 1:51:41Speaker 3: both of the guys have been pretty durable.
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: I don't pretty goes down like he misses time within games,
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: you know, like where Mac Jones got in quite a
- 1:51:53Speaker 1: bit right last year, didn't played in Jacksonville Oh that's right. Yeah, okay,
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: pretty doesn't he get hurt and he has to sit
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: out of Well.
- 1:52:02Speaker 3: He got hurt in the NFC Championship game and he
- 1:52:04Speaker 3: had to leave the game. But I don't know how
- 1:52:07Speaker 3: many games he's missed over the year. He's probably missed something.
- 1:52:09Speaker 3: He's probably missed more games than Mahomes. Sure, okay, but
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: Zappie is still better, So I'm going with Zappy.
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: All right. You think Zappi is better than Matt Show, Wow?
- 1:52:19Speaker 7: I think they both stink.
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:52:22Speaker 3: I'll take the guy.
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: First round pick. Boston Cream's on the line. What's up,
- 1:52:29Speaker 1: Boston Cream?
- 1:52:31Speaker 16: Hey, guys, that last trivia kind of stepped on my
- 1:52:34Speaker 16: toes here, But if you'd like more trivia, I can.
- 1:52:38Speaker 23: Okay, okay, as career Patriots who had more passing yards
- 1:52:44Speaker 23: Doug flute or Bailey Zappi?
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: Who has more passing yards Doug Flutie or Bailey Zapi Zapi? Correct,
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: that's kind of a like, why would you do that
- 1:52:56Speaker 1: if it wasn't true? Because you obviously think, well, Doug
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: Flutie must happy because but.
- 1:53:01Speaker 7: Yeah, why would you think that Doug Flutie must have.
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: More because didn't he play more than Zappy.
- 1:53:07Speaker 3: For the Patriots.
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: Oh did he just say Patriots?
- 1:53:10Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: Okay, even then, didn't he play more than Zappy?
- 1:53:15Speaker 3: I don't know if the only there was a way
- 1:53:16Speaker 3: we could look at him anyway.
- 1:53:18Speaker 6: I got what you're saying, though, you're like psychoanalyzing the question.
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, go ahead.
- 1:53:23Speaker 3: He dismisses the importance of getting it correct.
- 1:53:26Speaker 7: When you get it correct, keep going.
- 1:53:29Speaker 16: More interceptions as the Patriots stepan Tom Brady.
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: More interceptions, see my gut, says Grogan.
- 1:53:39Speaker 3: Because of I'm going to say, I'm going to say Grogan,
- 1:53:42Speaker 3: but I understand how many more passes Brady through then Grogan,
- 1:53:46Speaker 3: I'm still going to say Grogan.
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: I'm going to say Brady.
- 1:53:51Speaker 7: Oh okay, no one's through interceptions.
- 1:53:54Speaker 23: I'm going to swing it up here. Disease are kind
- 1:53:55Speaker 23: of leading you guys. One player has multiple safe he's
- 1:54:00Speaker 23: in Patriots history. Can you name that player?
- 1:54:02Speaker 7: One players multiple safeties.
- 1:54:05Speaker 3: And Patriots like he caused them or h ty.
- 1:54:10Speaker 4: Warren Don Blackman, Don Blackman.
- 1:54:16Speaker 7: Sure that's a good trivia question.
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: Sure I like that.
- 1:54:18Speaker 16: One yea to left year. I know we're running an
- 1:54:21Speaker 16: other time. There are twenty one forty four players since
- 1:54:25Speaker 16: the merger who have fifteen plus career NFL carries. This
- 1:54:28Speaker 16: Patriots player ranked first in all in rushing touchdowns per carries.
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: Oh, Jarvis, I mean a law firm, Ben and Jarvis
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: green ellis.
- 1:54:46Speaker 16: James Devlin at thirty Okay, and not least here.
- 1:54:54Speaker 13: This clever left handed pitcher relied on control of the
- 1:54:58Speaker 13: strike zone and surrendered Barry you walk in addition to
- 1:55:02Speaker 13: captaining his team and his junior and sees its senior year.
- 1:55:08Speaker 3: That's not very nice, Boston Cream.
- 1:55:13Speaker 1: I believe that.
- 1:55:16Speaker 3: For his school, right, he'll live somewhere online because it's
- 1:55:19Speaker 3: a word for word what Jim Murray read to.
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: I believe that person ended up in his school's hall
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: of Fame.
- 1:55:25Speaker 16: Yep, unlike all of us. Thanks guys, having.
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: All right, thank you. The one long ball Parolo, long
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: ball Paul, long ball rhyme.
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what Scott Peoli dubbed me. He was long
- 1:55:39Speaker 3: ball Paul.
- 1:55:40Speaker 5: That's a great nickname.
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:55:41Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: Was Peoli a good baseball player?
- 1:55:43Speaker 3: No, he didn't play baseball. Oh, he just went because
- 1:55:47Speaker 3: Scott was very good friends with one of my childhood
- 1:55:50Speaker 3: friends who they played football together at Central Connecticut. So
- 1:55:52Speaker 3: when we played Central Connecticut, my friend would go and
- 1:55:55Speaker 3: they all went and watched me, and I gave up
- 1:55:57Speaker 3: a Titanic home run and he's called me hornball Paul
- 1:56:01Speaker 3: ever since.
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: So what was your body language when you would give
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: up a home run? What do you think would you
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: be like throwing your mid down.
- 1:56:09Speaker 3: My body language when someone says something I disagree with.
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: So you would huffing and puffet yelling at your catch.
- 1:56:15Speaker 3: I was like in terms of getting hit, I was.
- 1:56:19Speaker 3: I was actually okay. Like if I wasn't pitching particularly well,
- 1:56:23Speaker 3: I think I would be okay. It's when I thought
- 1:56:25Speaker 3: I was getting squeezed by the umpire that, as my
- 1:56:28Speaker 3: mother would say, anybody that's in the park at the
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: time would know exactly how I was doing, just based
- 1:56:34Speaker 3: on one.
- 1:56:36Speaker 7: Like five second glance at me.
- 1:56:38Speaker 6: How many times did you get ejected.
- 1:56:40Speaker 3: While playing None. I did get ejected from the bench once. Okay,
- 1:56:46Speaker 3: Southern Maine and uh so I left. I left the
- 1:56:51Speaker 3: dugout and I'm standing like outside of the dugout in
- 1:56:56Speaker 3: the back, and the guy's like, you can't stay there.
- 1:56:58Speaker 7: And I moved to another sparty because you can ant
- 1:57:00Speaker 7: stay there.
- 1:57:00Speaker 15: I go.
- 1:57:00Speaker 3: Where do you want me to go, and he goes
- 1:57:01Speaker 3: back to Boston and it was like alumni day at
- 1:57:06Speaker 3: Southern Maine, so it was actually a decent crowd and
- 1:57:08Speaker 3: there was a roar of laughter.
- 1:57:11Speaker 5: My one of my best friends from high school, her
- 1:57:13Speaker 5: stepdad coached all our guy friends in baseball, so we
- 1:57:17Speaker 5: would all go to the games all the time. And
- 1:57:19Speaker 5: another friend lived. Her backyard was adjacent to the baseball
- 1:57:23Speaker 5: field and she had a treehouse right over the home
- 1:57:26Speaker 5: dugout essentially like separated by a fence. So my friend's stepdad,
- 1:57:30Speaker 5: he was like, he's the best, but huge hot head
- 1:57:33Speaker 5: got ejected. He'd get ejected like every other game. But
- 1:57:36Speaker 5: one day he went into our other friend's yard and
- 1:57:38Speaker 5: was like yelling into the game from the tree as.
- 1:57:42Speaker 6: Shout out bub bull.
- 1:57:44Speaker 3: I've never done that for it was incredible.
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: We'll end the show with this email about music at
- 1:57:51Speaker 1: inappropriate times, you know, stemming off of Produce's story, said,
- 1:57:56Speaker 1: my parents live on a street with an assisted living
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: apartment on one end in a home on the other.
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: Needless to say, there are often ambulances and medical visits.
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: One day I was out front doing yard work, listening
- 1:58:07Speaker 1: to music. I looked up to see the ambulance in
- 1:58:10Speaker 1: front of the nursing home, and another one bites the
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: dust by Queen King. I had to go inside. I
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: was laughing so hard.
- 1:58:18Speaker 7: That's your email of the week.
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: I just forwarded. All right, that's going to be it
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered. We'll be back next
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: week with what Alex is promising to be an historic
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: show when we do guess the listener.
- 1:58:35Speaker 5: I'm there's a lot of faces and names that I
- 1:58:39Speaker 5: got tripped up by, and I see the names connected
- 1:58:42Speaker 5: to the faces. So there's a lot of listeners that
- 1:58:45Speaker 5: I think you guys are going to be really surprised
- 1:58:46Speaker 5: on what they look like.
- 1:58:47Speaker 7: I'm going to be terrible at this game.
- 1:58:49Speaker 1: I think that's gonna be fun.
- 1:58:50Speaker 5: I think it'll be fun too. Maybe I can work
- 1:58:53Speaker 5: with Matt, so you like, right, yeah, well I have
- 1:58:56Speaker 5: them all So I'm hey, Matt, maybe we could like
- 1:58:59Speaker 5: in live in production, put like the picture that we're
- 1:59:03Speaker 5: talking about up on the screen.
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: Yeah, well, yeah, we have to make it visual.
- 1:59:06Speaker 5: Right, Well, like I was saying, it's better than me
- 1:59:08Speaker 5: holding like a cutout like printed.
- 1:59:10Speaker 1: Oh yeah yeahhot, no, right, yeah, I have it actually
- 1:59:12Speaker 1: on the screen. Yeah, okay, cool, all right, we'll see
- 1:59:16Speaker 1: you next Tuesday.
- 1:59:19Speaker 2: Hey, this is Deuce. Thanks for tuning into the show.
- 1:59:21Speaker 2: If you really want to help us, make sure you
- 1:59:23Speaker 2: like us wherever you get your podcasts, like Apple Podcasts
