- 0:47Speaker 2: you doing?
- 0:48Speaker 1: This is my last media appearance other than the No
- 0:54Speaker 1: Spin News. before two weeks of vacation. Two weeks?
- 0:59Speaker 2: Two weeks.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Two weeks.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Whoa.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Because I'm an old guy.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Leaving the country?
- 1:04Speaker 1: Because I'm an old guy. Old guys, no. I'm staying
- 1:08Speaker 1: in eastern Long Island, probably the most beautiful place in
- 1:11Speaker 1: the summer in the country.
- 1:13Speaker 2: It is beautiful out there. But it takes you two
- 1:17Speaker 2: hours to go 12 feet there with all the traffic.
- 1:20Speaker 1: But otherwise it's... Unless you drive at night.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Yeah, well.
- 1:24Speaker 1: So that's the key. You've got to stay up late,
- 1:27Speaker 1: get in the car about 9 p.m., and then you'll cruise.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Okay, but everything's closed by 9.30 out there. Yeah, I'm not.
- 1:36Speaker 1: A social guy. You know me. Nobody wants to hang
- 1:38Speaker 1: with me.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Hey, tonight you've got a few primaries. What's going to
- 1:43Speaker 2: happen tonight? What's going to happen in the midterms? How
- 1:45Speaker 2: does it look to you?
- 1:48Speaker 1: It's impossible because of Iran and affordability. So the Trump
- 1:56Speaker 1: administration believes that if they can strangle Iran's economy, they'll
- 2:00Speaker 1: fold soon, and then prices will drop dramatically in the
- 2:07Speaker 1: USA and around the world, and that will help build
- 2:10Speaker 1: momentum for the Republicans. And the Democratic Party, they're just
- 2:15Speaker 1: going to continue slashing Trump and anybody associated with Trump,
- 2:20Speaker 1: as we saw with the Natalie Harp situation. So if
- 2:25Speaker 1: I had a bet right now, I'd say the Democrats
- 2:27Speaker 1: are probably in a lead of about two to three points,
- 2:32Speaker 1: but that could evaporate quickly.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Now, the problem is the economy is in great shape
- 2:37Speaker 2: right now by all metrics that you would use. Inflation
- 2:42Speaker 2: is not bad. It's not out of control. But the
- 2:45Speaker 2: media day and night is convincing everybody that we're in
- 2:47Speaker 2: a terrible economic crisis. How do you battle that? How
- 2:50Speaker 2: do you fight that?
- 2:52Speaker 1: Well, if I'm... President Trump, I bring a chart wherever
- 2:57Speaker 1: I go, pointing out that the economy is strong, historically speaking.
- 3:02Speaker 1: The problem you have is that you have a two-tiered
- 3:07Speaker 1: situation in America. You have people who are successful and
- 3:13Speaker 1: know how to handle their money, invest their money. They're thrifty.
- 3:17Speaker 1: They pay attention. And then you have a whole bunch
- 3:21Speaker 1: of people, maybe half the country, that just wastes their
- 3:25Speaker 1: money and doesn't really, they don't understand what economics are.
- 3:30Speaker 1: So if they get hit by $ 3, $ 4 gasoline, they're hurting.
- 3:37Speaker 1: And that's where the Democratic Party always goes to the underdog,
- 3:41Speaker 1: economic underdog, always. And you're getting hosed and you're this
- 3:45Speaker 1: and you're that. That's a powerful message. And the craziness
- 3:51Speaker 1: of it is, that there are Americans who believe the
- 3:54Speaker 1: government can fix it. The government can't fix it. So
- 3:57Speaker 1: when you hear affordability, um, by the Democrats, you go, how, how,
- 4:03Speaker 1: what are you going to do? And then you never
- 4:07Speaker 1: get an answer. You get, well, Trump's the devil. Okay. Um,
- 4:11Speaker 1: but we don't do wage price controls here. I would
- 4:15Speaker 1: absolutely come down if our president on the, health insurance
- 4:20Speaker 1: companies and auto insurance and all that. I'd make life
- 4:24Speaker 1: real difficult for them because they're profiteering. And so are
- 4:27Speaker 1: the American oil companies. They're profiteering on all this, uh,
- 4:31Speaker 1: chaos in the world. And I think that, um, they
- 4:34Speaker 1: can pull back a little.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Yeah. So when you said the government can't fix it,
- 4:39Speaker 2: they can't, but, uh, they'll just yell tax, the rich tax,
- 4:42Speaker 2: the rich, and then the media.
- 4:44Speaker 1: But it's such a cliche and it's so stupid. You
- 4:47Speaker 1: just look at people, tax the rich. The rich are
- 4:51Speaker 1: tapped out. They're tapped out. Okay, you can't be imposing 60%, 70%
- 4:59Speaker 1: taxes on individuals and corporations. We're up in the mid-50s now,
- 5:04Speaker 1: if you live in New York. We're in the mid-50s.
- 5:07Speaker 1: They're taking more of your money than you have. So
- 5:12Speaker 1: are you going to continue this? I mean, this is terrible.
- 5:15Speaker 1: This is what communism is. Socialism is. But the poor,
- 5:21Speaker 1: that's not their concern. Their concern is living week by week. Yeah.
- 5:28Speaker 2: These crazy socialists, these crazy, out-of-control, unbelievable left-wing kooks. Did
- 5:33Speaker 2: Donald Trump cause this? I mean, listen, we love him
- 5:35Speaker 2: and he's effective and he gets things, but the over-the-top
- 5:39Speaker 2: abrasive personality, did it drive the left so nuts that
- 5:43Speaker 2: They think they've got to do this to counter him?
- 5:47Speaker 1: Well, if you look back on Romney and McCain and Bush,
- 5:51Speaker 1: even Ronald Reagan, they were attacked by the Democratic Party.
- 5:56Speaker 1: But it were routine attacks. There wasn't this kind of vitriol,
- 6:01Speaker 1: this kind of personal stuff. I believe, and I could
- 6:05Speaker 1: be wrong, I hope I'm wrong, there is a segment
- 6:08Speaker 1: of the American population that would like to see Donald
- 6:11Speaker 1: Trump dead. That's how much they hate him. So the
- 6:17Speaker 1: level of hatred has risen from a Romney, where it
- 6:22Speaker 1: was fairly low, Obama just outclassed him, to we really
- 6:28Speaker 1: hate Trump and we want the worst for not only him,
- 6:31Speaker 1: but anybody associated with him. There are a lot of
- 6:35Speaker 1: people in that category, and that gets to be pretty dangerous.
- 6:41Speaker 2: But it was always that way for Trump, long before
- 6:43Speaker 2: he got into politics. And you saw this. I mean,
- 6:45Speaker 2: the business world, half the people hated him. They couldn't
- 6:47Speaker 2: stomach him. And the other half loved him. But he's
- 6:50Speaker 2: just used to that. And he'll never do anything to adjust.
- 6:54Speaker 2: And is there anything he could do to fix this?
- 6:57Speaker 1: Well, he could modify a little bit his presentation. And
- 7:02Speaker 1: he does. On occasion, you see him pull back and...
- 7:10Speaker 1: have Dayton to whatever. And he didn't like this guy,
- 7:14Speaker 1: but now he likes him. You've seen it. Yeah. Um,
- 7:17Speaker 1: but it's all personal Donald Trump. So politics is personal.
- 7:21Speaker 1: And if you attack him, if you're unfair to him
- 7:24Speaker 1: and he perceives you as an enemy, then he's gonna,
- 7:28Speaker 1: you know, just like the schoolyard, he's going to escalate it.
- 7:32Speaker 1: The rev, uh, the rhetoric. And, uh, there are occasions
- 7:37Speaker 1: when he will actually go after people, uh, like Comey.
- 7:41Speaker 1: And I support that because I think Comey deserves to
- 7:45Speaker 1: be scrutinized in a court of law. I think what
- 7:48Speaker 1: Comey did manipulating the elections, uh, is a crime. And
- 7:55Speaker 1: why would you ignore that crime? That's a, that's a
- 7:57Speaker 1: serious situation. Now I could be wrong. Comey's entitled to
- 8:00Speaker 1: due process, but boy, the evidence, uh, on the surface
- 8:05Speaker 1: is absolutely there. Yeah.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Hey, um, You're the great historian. These socialists, these democratic socialists,
- 8:13Speaker 2: they all tend to be wealthy guys. They've got six houses.
- 8:16Speaker 2: They live like... Is that normal for a socialist movement historically?
- 8:21Speaker 1: Everywhere. Really? Everywhere. You know, I can't trace down any
- 8:27Speaker 1: communist socialist leader that lived with the folks. They're not
- 8:33Speaker 1: living with the folks. They're living high on a hill.
- 8:37Speaker 1: And they get everything they want. And it's always been
- 8:40Speaker 1: that way. And they justify it by saying, well, we
- 8:44Speaker 1: need an elite government cadre to guide the people. People
- 8:50Speaker 1: need to be guided. They're like sheep. And they believe this.
- 8:55Speaker 1: So there's got to be these people who are the guiders.
- 9:00Speaker 1: And they are entitled to special privileges, special wealth. See
- 9:04Speaker 1: it in China. China's a very good example. The oligarchs
- 9:08Speaker 1: in China live... well. And when I asked about it,
- 9:14Speaker 1: they said, well, we need to have guidance. And these
- 9:17Speaker 1: people guide, so they're entitled to their extra compensation. And
- 9:24Speaker 1: I'm trying to think on a totalitarian regime level, if
- 9:29Speaker 1: there were anybody, maybe Gandhi, but he wasn't a totalitarian.
- 9:34Speaker 1: He was a nonviolent guy. But nobody, they just sop
- 9:39Speaker 1: up Look at Putin. He's the richest man in the world.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Putin is the richest man in the world because he
- 9:46Speaker 1: takes a cut of all of the Russian economy. Everything
- 9:50Speaker 1: you do, you've got to kick back a little bit
- 9:53Speaker 1: to Putin. Can you imagine that? But that's what he's doing.
- 9:58Speaker 2: So this socialism is a great situation. if you're the leader.
- 10:02Speaker 2: For them, it is a great system.
- 10:03Speaker 1: If you're the top 2% and you have the authority
- 10:09Speaker 1: to do what you want, it's a pretty good system
- 10:13Speaker 1: for you because there's no elections, there's no balance on you.
- 10:20Speaker 1: So you're not going to be demanded to show up
- 10:22Speaker 1: in front of a Senate hearing. There's no Justice Department
- 10:25Speaker 1: to investigate you. So you just cruise and take what
- 10:30Speaker 1: you want. And that's the attractiveness of communism at the
- 10:34Speaker 1: higher level.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Hey, Bill O'Reilly, I also love the podcast. We'll do
- 10:39Speaker 2: it live. Some great episodes. You should go back and
- 10:42Speaker 2: watch the other episodes. You'll love them. We'll do it live,
- 10:45Speaker 2: Bill O'Reilly's podcast, YouTube or wherever you get it. Who
- 10:48Speaker 2: do you have on this week?
- 10:50Speaker 1: We are taking a little hiatus. I got to give
- 10:53Speaker 1: my staff a break. And me too. So for two weeks,
- 10:58Speaker 1: we'll be floating around. And then we come back. I'm
- 11:03Speaker 1: hoping Monica Crowley, Stephen A. Smith, all these people said
- 11:07Speaker 1: they were going to do it. So we should have
- 11:08Speaker 1: a pretty good lineup beginning in the middle of September.
- 11:13Speaker 1: It's fun. And the book, of course, comes out September 15th.
- 11:18Speaker 1: And you're one of the few people who got an
- 11:19Speaker 1: advance copy of it. It's not boring, right?
- 11:22Speaker 2: No, it's quite a book. It is really a great book,
- 11:24Speaker 2: Confronting America. And it must have been the toughest book
- 11:28Speaker 2: to write because it's a lot of your personal journeys
- 11:30Speaker 2: in there.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Yeah, it's eyewitness history. And what you read is what
- 11:36Speaker 1: I saw. And with 90 countries under my belt and
- 11:42Speaker 1: every state in the Union, every major city in the USA,
- 11:46Speaker 1: I've seen a lot. in his business for more than
- 11:49Speaker 1: 50 years. And so I bring all that in and
- 11:52Speaker 1: no anonymous sources, Simone.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:55Speaker 1: I name everybody. So, and some of those people aren't
- 11:58Speaker 1: going to be happy.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Yeah. But, uh, there's a lot of stuff in there.
- 12:02Speaker 2: You're going to want to read this book. It's Bill
- 12:04Speaker 2: O'Reilly's latest book confronting America. Go pre-order it right now.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Confronting America, uh, wherever you get your books or just
- 12:11Speaker 2: go to bill O'Reilly.com. You can get the books there.
- 12:14Speaker 2: The podcast, watch the previous episodes. You'll love them. And
- 12:18Speaker 2: everything's at BillOReilly.com. Bill O'Reilly, thanks for being with us.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Have a great vacation.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Okay. As the song goes, I'll see you in September.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Thanks for having me on. I'll see you in September.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Take care. Yeah, the next couple weeks, you're going to
- 12:34Speaker 2: have a lot of people away. Everybody's going to be gone.
- 12:37Speaker 2: All these hosts will be long gone. Hey, don't forget,
- 12:40Speaker 2: coming up at noon... Buck Sexton and Clay Travis. That's
- 12:43Speaker 2: a very good show. Every day, 12 noon. Then at
- 12:47Speaker 2: 3 o'clock, you've got Sean Hannity, the most listened to
- 12:50Speaker 2: radio show in America. You've got Jesse Kelly at 6.
- 12:54Speaker 2: I love listening to Jimmy Fail, a very funny show.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Every night, 9 to midnight. Don't forget, I'm here every
