- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, congratulations to the happy couple.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: It was a really fun.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was a really fun wedding.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: I think you and I both enjoyed ourselves.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: Probably the the most
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: It was pretty chill.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: It was kind of a small-ish, but not super small wedding because both of them come from big families.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: So it was small for like our families and so it was kind of like intimate and you know there was it was just kind of good food.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: Good dancing.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: The king.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: The king.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, the king the king the king the king may have officiated Yes, the the the ceremony there was Sports-related drama But yeah, we may or may not get into we we watched The SC game from a sports book The same time the game seven was going on that was wild wild Great weekend for me in terms of sports with everything
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: except for games.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, your Jags won an overtime.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_00]: Jags won an overtime in Vegas.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't watch that game.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: But my age.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: I was like the first half.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: I was the first half.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_01]: Chelsea wins.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: It's a great week.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: Liverpool won on Saturday.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: Liverpool and USC winning on the same day is a half-feet.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: So look at that.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: You know, sports sports were good to us.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: Anyways, we were back a day late from
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: normal because of that.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about it last week.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: This might be a cobble episode.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_01]: We lied.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to still come back tomorrow, Wednesday on the normal day to preview Sian Northwestern.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a little bit of a late.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: review in the sense that it's a Friday night game this week.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's a short week.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: ST plays Northwestern on Friday night.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: So preview still dropping normally on Wednesday, but Friday night is USC and Northwestern.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll preview that tomorrow Wednesday 4 p.m. Pacific.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_01]: If you're listening on Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcasts, today, probably.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: We're live today, 4 p.m. Pacific on YouTube.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: So come join us there as well.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I see, let's just, let's just, let's just get into the news.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's, let's just do that because we got a little bit of it, but we got a lot to talk to, other than that.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: Alright, we start new game time, announced for U.S.E's homecoming game against the I will hot guys next Saturday, uh, it was at the 15th, yeah the 15th.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: Better than in the 15th, SC will host Iowa 12, 30, I believe it's on, it's CBS or something SPS or Big Ten Network, and I do not know what determines that.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: We just know that it is, in fact, at 12.30.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: I have a hard time imagining that it won't be on CBS.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it has to do with what Iowa does, is Iowa acted, no, I was on a buy.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: Hold on.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pulling up the... Oh, no, no, no.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: Northwestern's coming off a buy.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pulling up the schedule.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: Like, both iOS and USC lose this weekend.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: Then you shut that over to Big Ten Network, right?
- 4:56[SPEAKER_00]: Probably.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: But, okay, okay.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: What are the other games?
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: We should have prep this.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: What are the other, the other game it could be is Penn State Michigan State.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: That's the only other game it doesn't have a TV spot.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_01]: So it's Penn State or Michigan State.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: There is no world that Penn State Michigan State should be the CBS game over SEI.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, let's just ink it in.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's SEI won't CBS.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_01]: There, why would Penn State Michigan State be on CBS?
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: Neither of those teams have a conference win.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: I mean,
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: The only thing that I could imagine is I know the SEC had this where there was a limited number of times you could be on CBS.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: If SEC is already up against that number and they can only have one more for the Romanian part of the season.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe CBS is like, hey, we want to save SC for the Oregon game.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: That might be a reason.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know either way.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: Well, during the chances.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: I will please Oregon this week.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, tough.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: That's right.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: If Iowa beats Oregon and USC beats Northwestern, there is zero chance that game's not on CBS.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: Either way, it's Brad Nassler on the call.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'm already feeling it.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's go to the polls SC up to the number 20 in the AP 21 in the coaches the culture of a playoff rankings Drop tonight.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: Do we know what time that is it?
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think it might be happening right now.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: Okay
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we'll keep an eye on you know what they do that thing where they take forever it starts and then it they don't release it until until later I actually have the information here so you can go on and I'll fill you in.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's at 8 p.m. Eastern so it's in an hour.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: if we're still alive we will we will be forced to live we will probably be reacting to that live on air yeah uh okay s c 20th in the AP poll 21 in the coaches poll fgi s c up to number 13 as a team interesting thing the offense
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: S. E. No longer than I'm one offense in the country.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have another one down to number six.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, uh, that's, uh, that's, that's deserved though.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and I don't know that anybody can argue after the performance that J. and Maya have put in.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, we'll talk about it in a couple minutes.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: Jeff Sagerin has 13th, yes, he plus has SC at number 12.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: So that's where the polls are picking USC, but at least you get involved with the pickin.

- 9:45[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: At least he let's talk about more USC football family.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: That was good, speedy.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: Very, I was impressed.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: I was overwhelmed.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: I rolled through that, just like King Miller rolled through the Nebraska defense of what?
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: Well, John.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get to the game.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: You and I talked about it.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: We watched it from a sports book on a smallish TV, because there was some baseball game happening that had to be on the big screen.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was not an ideal way to watch the game, but also it was the ideal way to watch the game.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: I had a thought will we were there.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, it's not ideal to have a $32 bear when you watch a game?
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: No, Michael, this is why I got the bottomless mobosis.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's fair.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: I literally looked at the menu and saw bottomless mimosas for $45 and thought we're going to be here for a few hours.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I, the cost of a beer is like 15 bucks.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: So if I ordered two beers, I'm almost up at the 45 bottomless moses.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm like screw it.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: We're getting bottomless moses, which is why it was the ideal place to watch the game.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_00]: Even though in hindsight, we probably should have watched a game in our room.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: our TV dedicated to it with sound sure but instead we went to the sports bar and I was very glad of it because I may have been going through it and I needed those bottomless molasses, and I needed that crowd of Dodgers fans and Blue Jace fans Sort of breaking up the amount of names.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there were a bunch.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: So it was a good time.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: It was a good time The game itself was for them was was a was a thing.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah
- 11:40[SPEAKER_01]: Don't tell me your thoughts.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: I thought, all right, can you have a car?
- 11:43[SPEAKER_00]: We haven't really, we didn't have a car cast.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if you wanted to experience my in the moment-ish thoughts, I did make a, like a five-minute TikTok.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_00]: uh... with my like immediate reaction so we've obviously had a few days to digest a little bit to think things back over uh... and i and i think i come away still feeling more or less the way that i did in that you know the positive side of me the optimist delicia says that a win is a win under any circumstances especially when you're on the road and given that u.s.c.
- 12:18[SPEAKER_00]: is at a really hard time winning road games especially the close road games uh...
- 12:24[SPEAKER_00]: them just getting over that hump in this game is a huge step in the right direction.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_00]: So clearly USC
- 12:32[SPEAKER_00]: figured out some way to adjust themselves to, you know, end up being on the winning side of the game.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: And they deserve credit for that.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: And there are specific players who absolutely deserve huge credit that I want to shout out like King Miller, who continues to look anything but a walk on, let alone a red shirt freshman walk on.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: He is fantastic.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: And
- 13:00[SPEAKER_00]: U.S.E.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_00]: is blessed to have him and to have him be available after losing players of Wemo and Eli Sanders is caliber.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: In this game, I think he reiterated to me that the Notre Dame performance was not about King Miller.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: It was about U.S.E.'
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: 's offensive line and going up against a defense that we highlighted was
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: you know, vulnerable against the run.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: We saw that follow through that USC was able to run very, very effectively with King Miller.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: I love the way that King hits the whole and just gets downfield.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: I tweeted that like my new favorite thing to say in sports is like, go on King, go on King, because like every time he, if there's a hole there,
- 13:43[SPEAKER_00]: you know you're going to be able to say it a couple times like he's going to hit the whole and then it's like gone king gone king and he's just going to go you know eight eight eight ten yards you know it's it's just he just attacks the defense in such a satisfying way I do not know how this kid
- 14:00[SPEAKER_00]: didn't end up with scholarship offers.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_00]: I do not know how this kid ended up at in this position at USC.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very grateful that he did, but like what a diamond in the rough for USC to come through as a as a walk on.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: He is effectively saving USC season if you think about it.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_00]: If you think of what a catastrophe it could have been to have lost the top two options.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_00]: And knowing that, you know, we like Harry Dalton and Brian Jackson, but neither of them are as I think just simply effective as as came Miller is.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_00]: So he was fantastic.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: His brother, Kaylon Miller, gets thrown into the game because Alonino gets injured very, very early in the game.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_00]: And again, it speaks to this is a walk on red shirt freshman who none of us knew his name until the summer and even then in the summer when we talked about Kael on Miller with all due respect.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about it being a bad sign that the red shirt freshman walk on was pushing the presumptive, you know, established starter for a job.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: And instead, he continues to prove
- 15:14[SPEAKER_00]: that was about his quality more than anything else.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_00]: And he came in, didn't skip a beat, was great.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_00]: One of the first runs that King had after Kaelon came in was, you know, him running directly behind his brother, just so satisfying.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like, just these little things that make it fun to watch football, you know, there's a lot of things that make it not fun to watch football, but like the King and Kaelon Miller story is absolutely just a wonderful, a wonderful turn of events
- 15:42[SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, you got to talk about U.S. defense, who I thought really stepped up in this game, they are still clearly vulnerable in the ways that they're vulnerable.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_00]: But for the first time U.S.C.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think wins close on the road because for the first time U.S. defense gets the stops that they need in the end.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_00]: This transitions me a little bit to the more like pessimistic, potentially negative Alicia, who were used that the outcome of this game had more to do with Nebraska short Cummings than USC's strengths.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_00]: As the mystic Alicia is out in full force, USC made the plays that got them the victory.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not taking anything away from USC.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_00]: U.S.C.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_00]: being able to find a way to win, to win a game where Jaden Mayava was holding on.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_00]: I need to get his exact stats because holy hell was this bad.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_00]: 9 of 23.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_00]: he was nine of twenty three for a hundred thirty five yards uh... yeah that's that's that's that's not the drain my other uh... that we
- 16:55[SPEAKER_00]: that we have like come to know you know that that was uh... that this was a horrific performance from u.s.s.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_00]: quarterback and for u.s.e.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_00]: to win again that he was that bad in boats very well for u.s.e.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_00]: being able to lean on the run game that they did being able to lean on the defense the way that they did.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_00]: what worries me is that like if dill and riole had not gotten injured.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_00]: if Nebraska wasn't Nebraska.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_00]: And when I say that, I mean, like if Nebraska wasn't the kind of team that has a clear fourth down conversion sitting right in front of them and the running backs trips on the quarterbacks knee as he's handed the ball and drops to the floor and that's that.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_00]: Like
- 17:47[SPEAKER_00]: If Nebraska wasn't Nebraska, what would the outcome of this game have been?
- 17:50[SPEAKER_00]: It was like, you know, we came into this game going like, uh, uh, the, it moveable force meets stopable object of USC and Nebraska is just like dysfunction.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not sure that like,
- 18:04[SPEAKER_00]: I worry that Nebraska has a lot to do with what happened here.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_00]: I worry that the injury to Dylan Royale has a lot to do with USC's defensive performance.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Emmett Johnson still gets 166 yards, still has 5.7 yards per carry.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_00]: If USC did a better job against the run in the second half, I know I'm rambling so hard, Michael, I'm sorry, they, USC did a better job defensively in the second half against the run.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: How much of that is knowing that TGL-a-tief is not a passing threat and that they could just,
- 18:43[SPEAKER_00]: you know, stack the box and then in the same way that USC's most effective defensive performance before this was Michigan another one with a with a against a team that didn't have a quarterback who USC felt could really you know attack them.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_00]: So there's still a lot of questions I have about USC after this performance.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that it I don't know that it answers
- 19:06[SPEAKER_00]: my worries about where this team's ceiling, like where they run up against their ceiling.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_00]: But I will say, you know,
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: U.S.E.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: has lost this game and worst games than this in the past and they've been playing some pretty crappy teams while losing those games to so you know I am willing to take it I'm not going to like treat this as the end all be all performance it's just
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's I'm very I'm very torn.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_00]: I'm very torn as to whether like actually no, I'm not torn.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: This is the last thing I'll say.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not torn.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_00]: I Feel very strongly that a win is a win and USC can move on from this
- 19:52[SPEAKER_00]: But I'm also not buying into this as any sort of evidence that any of US's, that any of the pitfalls that I were, USC could fall into for the rest of the season are suddenly like papered over, you know?
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that makes a lot sense.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think there were some wise words from TNLA on Discord who said if we get mad when the let go's against us,
- 20:23[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's fine to be happy when the dumb luck goes our way.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, excluding injuries that sucks for real, amagerly.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like, I look at it like in the sense of like this, this was a, I have like a list here of notes that I could sort of go over of like good stuff and bad stuff, right?
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: And there were so many of both of those things in this game.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: There's been a lot of those things in games and S.C. has lost every single one of them.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_01]: On the road, in close games,
- 20:52[SPEAKER_01]: um... we got a text message uh... from gram about s c winning the central time zone first uh... was last time that happened call it out of the dome i know that's the that's the mountain off the dome i think the last one is the braska in two thousand and seven is it not
- 21:18[SPEAKER_00]: uh... i'm in a soda twenty ten is minnesota in the central times on yes okay so minnesota twenty ten that's still pretty that's that's a long now to be very you and he doesn't play in the central very often but when there's a lot of options there there's uh... Illinois this this past year uh... was in the central times own uh... yet there's not a lot of of games there but all those games in taxes
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we don't talk about Texas.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's fair.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: That is fair.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_01]: But I go back to the thing of like, I had, was it a week or two ago, I had that long list of all the road games, the S.E.S.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: played under Lincoln Riley, true road games out of state.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: And every single time, there's something.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_01]: There's, you give up a kick return after you give up the lead.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: There's, you can't stop, or you get to stop on four of the nages that it's overturned by video review or the, like there's always something.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_01]: And like, this game, the some things went S-C's way.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: And at some point, you know, just gotta say,
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: when you're so starved for a roadwin, when, you know, SC is in a position where they have not finished off these games.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: Even if you get the help of, the winner I will not be in there and Nebraska's offense being broken.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: and stumbles in the backfield and all that kind of stuff, like, you take it, you take it.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to go, I'll play health none on everybody, but, like, S6 still controls their own destiny, not in turn for the conference, but in terms of, like, going to the playoff, you know, as long as you keep that off, you want to
- 23:25[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think they don't?
- 23:27[SPEAKER_00]: No, you're right.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_00]: That's absolutely true.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's just like crazy.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_00]: If they, if they, I mean, okay, it's Oregon and they're 10 and two.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_01]: They're in the world.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, let's see, let's let it go.
- 23:35[SPEAKER_00]: If USC sent into there in the playoff, but that requires USC to be Oregon, which I think this game of us are going to say, this game indicates that USC can do that.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: There's nothing in this game that told me that SC is going to go into Eugene and win.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I do, I don't know that there's a lot of stuff in this game that makes me think the SE is going to not be able to hold serve at home against Northwestern and Iowa and UCLA.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's game because I will just please better on at home and all that kind of stuff.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_00]: And like the closest facsimile for this game.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_00]: could end up being if you take the home road split away is like the the IO a question right because I was they got a really good defense
- 24:22[SPEAKER_00]: but their offense is wonky like I was offense is Nebraska's offense without Dylan Riala.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_00]: So like USC is now proven they can win a game against an offense that isn't all that good because their defense isn't catastrophically bad against a bad offense.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_00]: Like, so yeah, I do think this game indicates that USC's defense has a pulse.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_00]: So that's good.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and like there was a there was a discussion on and discord or friend Trinace was talking about like Was this a real comeback like the the questions about that I think Jessica said that she missed the game, but like was wondering like Did was this like a valiant kind of thing and it's like I could understand or like was it was this essay finally
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: moving on the road that they can win one of these close games and like I totally get while you look at the box box war and could take that from it and it's it wasn't not that but it also wasn't that you know like all these things are there and it like this sounds I sound like a crazy person talking here but like S.C. had a value it come back in this game
- 25:34[SPEAKER_01]: They also nearly gave it away by not salty in a way.
- 25:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think the feelings of this game They feel like that value had come back.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: Like, did it feel like a... No.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_00]: It didn't feel like a comeback to me.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: No, but it was.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_00]: It was.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_00]: But like, it didn't feel like, you know, as USC turned the ship around or anything like that.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I also think that like, I think there's a complete different sentiment to the game also.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe this is silly and splitting hairs, because really, we talked about before.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: You just needed to get a win and they got the win
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: but like if they go on that last drive and they sold the game away with a seven minute drive and they score the minute left or whatever.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_01]: We even even if they don't score but they take it all the way to goal line techniques I think the feeling of the game is different.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_01]: If you score on that last drive with a minute to go
- 26:30[SPEAKER_00]: If Jaden Mayaba is, if Harry Doughton walks into the end zone, if we get SRS distribution Las Vegas Bowl, Jaden Mayaba in terms of the full spectrum of that, where he's absolutely miserable for the most of the game, and then on the last drive that he has the ball, he is Pete Jaden Mayaba.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's everything you wanted to, him to be, yeah, but that's not what it was.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: And on top of that, they run the ball and they kill the clock and they end up covering and they win this game of 2018.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think you can sit here and say like, they showed a hell of a lot of maturity, it got the game got weird, they certainly got their advantages with rail and not being there.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_01]: But they did what they needed to do, they took care of business and that's what good teams do.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: And for the most part, that was still the case.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_01]: But like, because like, I think a bit on defense, like the defense of performance in this game is so hard to understand because they get stops in the second half, like they're pretty good.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_00]: They give up a field goal in the second half and that's it.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was looking at the numbers.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_00]: And it's not, sorry, it's not just the Dylan Riala went down because even before he went down, Nebraska's offense wasn't really taken off.
- 27:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you look at Nebraska's first three drives.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_01]: They have two 75 yard touchdown drives in there.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_01]: From there to the rest of the game, there's one play in the end of the half that wasn't nothing.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_01]: Pont for seven, fumble gained one yard, fugal attempts, they gained 20 yards, fugal make 57, Pont for 13 in the last drive of the game with 23 yards.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, still around a little went out, but also they didn't let, they didn't let them rally when they needed to.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: Nebraska was very dysfunctional and offense without him very one dimensional.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_01]: And I was looking to see like what is Emmett Johnson's numbers when we're all a went out like when it was clearly obvious that he.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: was basically going to be their only source of offense after railloads out, and he doesn't really change, like five yards, five, six, six, one, twenty, three, eight, thirteen, four, five, zero.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_01]: So he was just as good after as he was before.
- 28:53[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but I see was getting the stops and I think that like this is the the the the sign of how the bend don't break defense can work in the sense of like if you're only way for gaining yardage.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, if your Nebraska is with.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_01]: Emma Johnson and nothing else.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_01]: All then.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to have to go for 10, 15, 20 on a consistent basis to score touchdowns.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and also like, you know, I think that you had USC's offense make some timely stops in the run.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, I don't think they ever really shut down at Johnson, but they get the third downstop on that first drive to start the third quarter on a third and short.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_00]: They, I mean,
- 29:47[SPEAKER_00]: they don't get the fourth downstop if we're being honest, but you know, like they do there were a couple very much and I don't know that it's close at least.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_00]: I think he was going to easily get it personally, but I think that there were more runs at 20-year gainers.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no, no, absolutely not.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that there were more runs in the second half where it's like a
- 30:07[SPEAKER_00]: a short, like a one-yard gain, a hole into zero, or, you know, they're still giving up the eight yard gain, but like they're getting more of those short stops, which then put Nebraska into down in distance, they're not comfortable in, especially with the quarterback change.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it helps that you look at,
- 30:30[SPEAKER_01]: TJ Latif, um, feel bad for the dude, awful situation for him to be in, uh, true freshman, coming in and out of nowhere, no expectations for him to play this season, right?
- 30:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like awful spot to to be in, at home, blackout game, ranked opponent, like all the things.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: And he's got a lead to come back to the last drive.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_01]: He was five of seven, and five of seven isn't terrible Until you realize that the five of seven gained one 11 negative five one and negative one yard
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: They did not, one of his passes went for a first down.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_01]: So like they were just so one dimensional.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_01]: S.E.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_01]: took so much advantage of that.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: I did mention my list of good and bad stuff.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: I let me run through this stuff because there are good things.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to get to the good things.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_01]: So this isn't just the mid-Sesh, there's a lot of good things to get to.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: I start with the bad stuff just so you can end on a sweet note here.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_01]: I thought this was a horrific game from Jade Mayava.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_01]: It was S.R.S.
- 31:40[SPEAKER_01]: distribution Las Vegas Bowl Mayava, like we talked about.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: He was awful.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: A month ago, I think people could have talked about his chances of potentially going to New York.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_01]: Not winning the Heisman per se, but like...
- 31:55[SPEAKER_01]: being in the discussion.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_00]: He would have absolutely been in the discussion, discussion if he kept on going the way he had been.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that is 1,000 percent not happening and nor should it happen.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: I also think that Mackay lemons chances of winning the Blitnikov completely toast.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: He has been completely shut down the last two weeks completely.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: And like, I think there's two things that are true here.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: On the one hand, Nebraska's past defense, I think is really, really good.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_01]: I think Notre Dame's Leonard Moore,
- 32:26[SPEAKER_01]: at corner really really good and so like I'm not this isn't all like on McKay lemon or anything but like when you are in a tough spot you need to limit your mistakes and be as mature as you can be with the football and sometimes you gotta be conservative sometimes you sometimes you gotta take the sack sometimes you gotta throw the ball away you know you gotta make the
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: And that's where I think Jade Myavec had like, there's, there's, there's a difference between just being shut down and then being detrimental to your performance.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_01]: And like, Nebraska's shut S.C.'s passing game down.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: But my wife didn't help it by being, like, the, I thought the target sometimes where he was taking the, the more difficult throw,
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: Um, they were trying to throw down field to SEC's 3rd and 4th receivers, Richardson, uh, and to Nikyntons and Akyntons look good in this game, uh, Richardson had his moments had one great catch for 43 yards, uh, but like,
- 33:40[SPEAKER_01]: the play where he's going to get sacked and he just like throws it he like tries to to put it out there and it's a it's a fumble another one where he like rushes a throw and it's intentional grounding and like we had to talk on this court of like it was a running back to I feel like I don't know what intentional grounding is anymore oh yeah I don't know what any of the rules are any uh to be quite honest because I know that in the intentional grounding you have to get it to the line of scrimmage
- 34:10[SPEAKER_01]: But like, when you're in the tackle box and a running back is in the back, can you just not throw it at their feet?
- 34:16[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_01]: Either way, it's just take the sack.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_01]: Don't risk the fumble.
- 34:22[SPEAKER_01]: Don't risk the catastrophe.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_01]: And my ava was not making it better on himself.
- 34:28[SPEAKER_01]: He was 9 of 23 for 135 yards.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_01]: No touch sounds, one interception, pass a rating of 79.7.
- 34:41[SPEAKER_01]: which is wild.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_01]: Wild.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_01]: It was absolutely shaped to the 24, 2024 SRS distribution Las Vegas Bowl.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: And I love to say that FC, when my oven's better as worse, is undefeated to it out.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_01]: To it out, both times having come back wins in the fourth quarter, in part because,
- 35:02[SPEAKER_01]: In the, in the, let's beg a spole against Annette, he was nails in the fourth quarter, 11 or 14 for 137 yards, couple of touchdowns, that throw probably his worst center steps at the beginning of the fourth quarter, but like, you was great in the fourth quarter, right?
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: Horrible through the first three quarters.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_01]: In this game, things get changed up because when things really go to hell in the passing game, we can rally,
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: Not only, like, runs the ball more, but there is a change in how the running game is used.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_01]: And my office used more in the run game that we're going to talk about that in the good part.
- 35:41[SPEAKER_01]: So, hold on to that.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_01]: Last thing I want to mention with the bad stuff column here is play calling.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_01]: Early in the game in the first quarter, it's like a third and fourth, third and five.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_01]: Swinging gate.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: What are we doing?
- 35:59[SPEAKER_01]: The swinging gate stuff save that for a two point conversion a 4th and 1, like a 3rd and 1, a 3rd and 5, run your offense dude like throw a curl a slant like there are so many things
- 36:30[SPEAKER_01]: you don't need to over-complicate it on a third and five in the first quarter.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_01]: What are we doing here?
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's crazy to me.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_01]: And then we have to talk about the first scoring drive, which I think it's three points.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_01]: Start off to be a beautiful drive.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_01]: As you incomplete first and 10, there's a nine yard pass that's a Kobe lane on second and 10.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_01]: third and third and one, they give it to King Miller, gains five, beautiful, third down conversion, wonderful.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_01]: Next play, first in 10, 16 yards to McCye Lemmon, a finally get him open, things are moving, S.E.'
- 37:13[SPEAKER_01]: 's moving in positive territory of the whole bit.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: The next three plays, all on first in 10.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_01]: 15 yard run by King Miller, 13 yard run by King Miller, 16 yard run by King Miller, creating a first and goal at the 7.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: Goal line fade the Jacobi line.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: Incomplete.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_01]: Second down.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: Play action
- 37:48[SPEAKER_01]: Now it's third and go.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: Now you're in a passing situation.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_01]: Now you kind of got to throw on third and go.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: And my obvious scramble's, I think there's a world in which maybe if he scrambled a little bit earlier, he could have gotten to the end zone, but he gets down to the two, sets up a fourth and two.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_01]: They decide to go for it.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's from a wide angle, hard to kick from there.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and Tobias Raymond jumps for a fall start and now it's a fourth and goal from the seven again, and they just kick a 24 yard vehicle.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like the problem with it for me is not that you threw the ball three times because that's just like, yes, but it's the how right like,
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's like the integration in the sequencing of that drive.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_01]: Just doesn't make any sense, and it's the fade.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's the goal line fade.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_01]: Can goal line fade?
- 38:43[SPEAKER_01]: Jacobi Lane, S tier guy in the aerial battles.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_01]: He's up there with Mike Williams, Michael Pittman, Drake London, in terms of dudes that you want to go up and get the ball.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_01]: I get it.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: If you're gonna throw a goal line fade, Jacobi Lane's the dude I want you to throw it to.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_01]: But this is an offense that is predicated on succeeding with putting defenders in conflict, creating space, making it easier in your quarterback, easier on your playmakers, and it's all math, right?
- 39:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's all simply go where the numbers are and do all these things.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_01]: A goal-line fate is the intent assist of that.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like, go up and just win this one or one battle, man versus man.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he is not what the offense is when it's good.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_01]: When it's good.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, when it's good.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_01]: And so you, and it's a low percentage play in just in general, compared to other options that you have.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_01]: And so then it's incomplete.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_01]: Now you've got a second and go from the seven and they run the play action.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_01]: I think a play action call is great from the spot.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_00]: On first down.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_00]: After you just gash them with your run game.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you just had three runs of 15, 13 and 16 yards.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_01]: Now you're at the seven, the field is compressed.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_01]: They're gonna probably assume you're gonna run, but even if not, they're gonna, you know, whatever the, a play action pass is a good option.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_01]: This is the quintessential, you've set up the play action pass kind of moment, but they run it on second down when it should have been on first down.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_01]: If it is an incomplete pass on first down, well then you've got second and go off in the seven and you can run and do whatever then.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_01]: But no, they save it for second down, anything complete?
- 40:48[SPEAKER_01]: So now you've got 3rd and goal, you've got a throw at 3rd and goal from the 7.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_01]: And so now you've end up with a situation where you ran for 15th, 13 and 16 yards with King Miller and you have to throw 3 times in a row from the 7.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_01]: For little to no reason here.
- 41:08[SPEAKER_00]: Well and even we say on 3rd and 7 they have to throw.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_00]: I agree with you philosophically.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_00]: But also, they're proven that maybe that isn't the case in the fourth quarter when USC scores the winning touchdown on first and goal from the sixth.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 41:25[SPEAKER_00]: After the first play, they get in goal to go is a run that gets quite easily to the end zone as like a proof of concept that, yeah, maybe, you should just keep handing the wall off.
- 41:39[UNKNOWN]: Mm-hmm.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think the reason I say I think you gotta throw there
- 41:45[SPEAKER_00]: if you gain one yard it's not yet and it's third fourth and go from the six I think that's a kick situation yeah no i i don't disagree i think i think if i'm calling these plays and i think there's no crime and throwing on third and go from the third and go from the six or the seven i i am passing i am passing it but i agree with you like considering how well you had been running the ball you should at least one of those two
- 42:12[SPEAKER_00]: First or second down you should be handing them all off just just because of how effective you'd been on the ground Just because of how ineffective Nebraska's run defense has been not just in this game, but all season That you know this is their weakness.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_00]: I agree with you.
- 42:27[SPEAKER_00]: The play action on first down would have been perfect because Nebraska knows what their weakness is Nebraska is going to be thinking like we need to straw against the run and then you can maybe get them off guard and you know you go from there, but
- 42:39[SPEAKER_00]: I agree.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's just like you do throw the gold line fade on first down.
- 42:43[SPEAKER_01]: Well then, to me, you've, you've, you've ridden yourself of the opportunity to play action at that point.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 42:50[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 42:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: And like obviously the, and the other thing is like, you can't even say, well, but RPO's in this situation, gold line fade is unless it's a pre-snap read, that's not an RPO.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_00]: you know like and maybe it was too early in the game we're talking this is the first drive right maybe it's too early in the game for them to recognize that Nebraska's D.B.s had USC absolutely cooked yeah um so you know maybe you try that goal line fade thinking that you know it's our guy against their guy and our guy's gonna win and
- 43:28[SPEAKER_00]: And you hadn't figured out yet that no for most of this game know your guys are not going to win And so you're being just like that, but even even even even outside of that context, I hit the goal in faith
- 43:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I hate it too because when I like the goal line fade to be honest is later in the set of down.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_00]: Because on first down because this is a full in the days on a potential P. I can't Exactly on a third down goal line fade.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_00]: I don't necessarily love it.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_00]: But like when you're in like a third in goal from the six or seven you're sort of in this like
- 44:01[SPEAKER_00]: and long to go, kind of in a weird position, I get you don't really have a lot of great plays to get you to the end zone, a goal-line fade where you're banking on a PI.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's not a terrible strategy.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_00]: I, I, I, I, I'm not a fan of goal-line fades in general, but like, I can see that the logic there.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_00]: A first-down goal-line fade drives me crazy.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I'm someone who thinks that you can take chances on first-down.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_01]: so like I'm willing to give grace about the first down if you just run the ball and tech down you know what I mean it's like it's it's the count like you've lost your opportunity with the play action by trying the fate instead.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: You got to run the ball at some point there.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to sit here and say you need to run the ball in every play because that's obviously not how it works.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_01]: But anyways, it's good to have the run game was fantastic, right?
- 44:56[SPEAKER_01]: They took advantage of a bad Nebraska rush defense.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: And they made them look like a bad Nebraska rust defense and they made themselves look really good.
- 45:05[SPEAKER_01]: S.A. 10 chunk runs, 10 runs of 10 plus yards.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_01]: S.A. is now averaging 6.8 chunk yard runs, a chunk runs per game in Big 10 play.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: Number one in the conference in the Big 10.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_01]: The next best team is Indiana at 6.2.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think the other thing they're want to mention here is that my other being used in the run game, fantastic.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_01]: stream cherry picks that here.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_01]: 3-0 all-time when Jane may have against 20 plus yards.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: Super cherry picked, but it works.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_00]: To be fair.
- 45:42[SPEAKER_00]: What were those games?
- 45:45[SPEAKER_01]: It was...
- 45:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have enough at the top of my head.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_00]: Well, what I'll say is that one of the things that is a positive about a quarterback, like you know, is that he is a, he has the running ability in him.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_00]: And that when he's having as bad a passing game as he is as he was in this game, being able to just say screw it, I'm going to run.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_00]: It can help a lot.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_00]: It can help a lot when nothing is going right through the air.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_00]: So like, you know, I'll I'll give him that that he did at a certain point in this game figure out that if
- 46:27[SPEAKER_00]: If the, I'm not going to force it into double coverage this time, I'm not going to try to like take what isn't there, which what, which is why his completion percentage in this game was solo was as low as it was because he kept throwing into double coverage.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_00]: He kept throwing to cover guys because nobody was open and, and it was just a, it was just a mess and later on in the game he started talking it and running more often.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, like Mr. P in the chat says, why doesn't he run my album more.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_00]: And this is a question that we've had.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_00]: My other can run, but he doesn't look the most comfortable running.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like his first instinct, with which a quarterback is not a necessarily bad thing.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_00]: That can be a really, you know, some quarterbacks take off and run way too early and you have to sort of train them out of that.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_00]: My other you almost have to like nudge him forward to go try to run, but when he does, he's pretty effective.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that we saw that in this game that it makes up a lot for
- 47:25[SPEAKER_00]: the passing of it all that he gets what like 80 oh what was it like 60 yards on the ground.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_00]: Not every quarterback is able to do that in a game where they're not, you know, with it.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_00]: If their arm isn't really working.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_01]: 11 Gary 62 yards and for me it's it's not the scrambling because my average doesn't want to scramble.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's not what he wants to do.
- 47:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's not what we've seen that he likes to do.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_01]: Um, it's the time stuff.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's eight carries for 83 yards because he sat three times.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_00]: And his net losses are 21.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_01]: The longest 17, which yeah means that it was continually decent games from him, right?
- 48:09[SPEAKER_01]: Like, uh, we go back to last year's Nebraska gate, right?
- 48:14[SPEAKER_01]: In that game against Nebraska last year, we've talked about this last year.
- 48:19[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about it earlier this year.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: The play calling that Nebraska game was beautiful.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_01]: There was that triple option jet sweep that they ran on a fourth and one that was beautiful.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: Where is that stuff, Ben, right?
- 48:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like, they just haven't done that.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_01]: And there have been drives this year.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they will run zone read like three, four times than a row.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_01]: And then you never see it for the rest of the game.
- 48:50[SPEAKER_01]: You never see it for two, three more weeks or whatever, right?
- 48:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like, these are the things that I think it's very good that SC has that in the bag as a plan C.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_01]: when the past game isn't working and when the run game only is working and you need something else like my avid doesn't have it in the passing game he looks terrible during the ball.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_01]: Well yeah, like give him another opportunity to make a place.
- 49:21[SPEAKER_01]: My problem with it is that it shouldn't be plan C. Yeah.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think this should be included in the offense
- 49:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think more of these, I want to see more read-option stuff, I want to see more options, I want to see more pitches, jet sweeps, like that kind of stuff, and it's hard to be nitpicky about SC's offense when they're so successful, but more so it's like,
- 49:54[SPEAKER_01]: These are the things that I think make it easier on players in a lot of ways, and this game is a prime example.
- 50:00[SPEAKER_01]: This is a game in which my Ava played super poorly, so I think good only can rally for finding ways to make him have value in the game on a night in which he's not playing well, right?
- 50:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I agree.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_00]: Like I think that you can mitigate some of the issues there.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_00]: Any my bigger issue in general with the run game, with the MyAub, I bet, all is a complaint that I have about Lincoln Riley, a complaint I have.
- 50:29[SPEAKER_00]: I've had about pretty much every U.S. offensive coordinator ever, because every U.S. offensive coordinator ever has been a former quarterback and my theory is that, well, except for, no, it was a former quarterback too.
- 50:45[SPEAKER_00]: are former quarterbacks and they like the passing games that they you know insist on the passing game when often times you should just be running the ball and you and I were listening to the solid verbal on the way home on the drive from from Vegas and they were talking about USC about USC.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_00]: I've heard which of them credited USC for leaning on for committing to the run tie credited USC for getting them down
- 51:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm with Dan.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_00]: I disagree.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think that USC should have committed more to the run.
- 51:16[SPEAKER_00]: I think that USC had 38 total carries in this game to 23 total attempts.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_00]: But Jane Mayava,
- 51:25[SPEAKER_00]: He was not most of those runs were not designed runs.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of them were a scramble and taking what was there.
- 51:32[SPEAKER_00]: Which means that Jayden Mayava was still the one with the ball in his hand, you know, 30 plus 35 plus times.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_00]: And King Miller has the ball in his hand 18 times.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like I think that they should have traditionally run the ball more often.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_00]: I will credit my ava for getting what he forgetting what he gets and making those that.
- 51:54[SPEAKER_00]: But I was frustrated by the number of dropbacks, even after it became very clear that number one, USC's receivers had been absolutely shut down.
- 52:03[SPEAKER_00]: And number two, my ava couldn't hit them
- 52:10[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, it, to me, it's a hard situation offensively when your quarterback doesn't have it.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_01]: Your right receivers cannot get open.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_01]: Your only running back is a walk on and then a guy playing on turf toe and then a true freshman who you don't really have a lot of trust in, your top two running backs are out.
- 52:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like, there's a lot of situations.
- 52:32[SPEAKER_01]: But there's a lot of things that are tough here, and that's why I get that way.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_00]: I get that, but like, M&J, Emmett Johnson gets 29 carries in this game.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_01]: Well, for sure.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, USC has this, I can't remember the last time a USC running back was given more than 20 carries.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I get that you don't want to overuse these guys, but sometimes sometimes it's okay for a running back to carry the ball more than 20 times.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's okay.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, not every game.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_00]: No, but in a situation like this where you're not playing Nebraska's past defense every every game.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_00]: You will have plenty of times in the future where you don't have to lean on your run game like this, but in this game, it was so very clear that not only was Nebraska's past past defense lockdown, but that Nebraska's run defense was the opposite of lockdown and absolutely like like cutting through butter.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_00]: And they could have just said, screw it, we're going to cut through the butter then.
- 53:27[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think they really committed to that.
- 53:31[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that USC probably comes away with a semi-comfortable, a certainly afterriolo goes down injured.
- 53:40[SPEAKER_00]: But USC probably comes away with a semi-comfortable win if they just say screw it, we're going to run the ball.
- 53:47[SPEAKER_01]: I have a theory.
- 53:49[SPEAKER_01]: I've just sort of pieced together.
- 53:52[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think?
- 53:54[SPEAKER_01]: If you had to, this is very dumb.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_01]: You and I were just talking about Dungeons and Dragons because I just got explained to me on TikTok the other day.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_01]: And it sounds insane to me.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_01]: And it not remotely what I thought it was.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway,
- 54:08[SPEAKER_01]: the what it comes down to like you have your skills sheets of like what your attributes are yes what your your your your good stuff and your bad stuff is yeah what do you think is the worst attribute that jaded my avahast if you had if you had to put that into a mechanical and sort of number there in a write it down
- 54:34[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, I don't know, what is the thing?
- 54:37[SPEAKER_01]: What is, what is, what is his, his worst trait?
- 54:40[SPEAKER_00]: What's the, what, what's a, what's a, what's a way to describe the quality of losing your mind for about 15 minutes.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_00]: like my other what was unusual at this game is he never shook out of it really but yeah like my office biggest problem is just falling into a funk now we've we've praised him because he has done a good job of being able to get out of the funk yeah he's done a pretty good job you know even the SRS distribution was very useful he's in a fun for a pretty long time but he eventually shakes it off and and is is outstanding so we know that
- 55:14[SPEAKER_00]: He's not like once he's in a funk.
- 55:16[SPEAKER_00]: He's not stuck there, but in this game he was stuck there, and I think that that like his falling into a funk is what I would call his worst quality.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_01]: I would say his worst quality is panic decision making.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 55:44[SPEAKER_01]: We saw it against Notre Dame where he just tossed that ball up and it landed and it was a ton of kind spread basket.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_01]: We saw it in this past game where there was the intentional grounding thing.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_01]: There was the one where he just tries to pitch it just rolls out of bounds.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like that which was also deemed intentional grounding.
- 56:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like that kind of stuff, right?
- 56:09[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if the argument
- 56:12[SPEAKER_01]: for or if the if the reason for why Lincoln Riley does not do more with Jade and my ava from a run game perspective is because he is wanting to limit the quick triggered decisions in the sense that like
- 56:35[SPEAKER_01]: Jade might have a trust him to really defense and throw the ball where it should be and all that kind of stuff and I think that we all do for the most part, right?
- 56:44[SPEAKER_01]: But like, in a split decision thing, is he going to make the right decision on a pitch?
- 56:52[SPEAKER_01]: Is he going to make the right decision on?
- 56:55[SPEAKER_01]: Keeper give is he going to make the right decision on keep give pitch what you know what I mean like all those little factors all those little options is that the reason why they don't run
- 57:08[SPEAKER_00]: more designed sort of run an option place like this is an underrated part of the challenge of being a quarterback and an underrated answer for why do you not run more read options if your quarterback is incapable of actually reading the read option that would be an issue but I don't know that we have enough like evidence to say for sure that that's what what's the case with my own in the pitch.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, exactly.
- 57:35[SPEAKER_00]: It's on China in the pitch.
- 57:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's on China in the pitch, right?
- 57:38[SPEAKER_00]: Can't make that pitch.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 57:40[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_00]: Either way, this is a, this is far beyond just the Nebraska game.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_00]: This is a general gripe I have with offensive coordinators that I've had the pleasure and displeasure of having to watch them call games, varying degrees of good and bad offensive coordinators that we've had to watch fairly closely over the years.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_00]: Was a former quarterback and every single one of them does this thing where they won't just say screw it We are running the ball on every down and you will try to stop this.
- 58:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah Yeah, and it works when it's the 2007 Rose Bowl and You have Steve Stokej and who you know leads the NCAA and passing at BYU in 1995 and he decides that he's gonna throw on literally every down And you roseball that way and
- 58:32[SPEAKER_00]: And this is where I get frustrated is that like these former quarterback offensive coordinators are more than willing to do that side of it like and and that worked beautifully Sark made the exact right decision because Michigan was not letting USC gain a single yard on the ground it was it
- 58:50[SPEAKER_00]: It was there was nothing there and so Sark said screw it.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to just pass on every down And it was and it was and the nuclear option.
- 58:57[SPEAKER_00]: It was perfect But how many times have we ever seen Sark do the opposite where nothing is working in the past game We're just gonna run on every down like they never freaking do that and then we watch freaking Stanford You know run power every single play to to USC's like you know frustration and
- 59:17[SPEAKER_00]: And we just don't see USC do that to teams.
- 59:20[SPEAKER_00]: And it is very frustrating, and it's not a USC problem alone.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_00]: It's not a Lincoln Riley problem alone.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's just one of those things that I think that sometimes keeping it simple and just taking the physical advantage that you have is underrated.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, coordinators often are out thinking of each other a little bit.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 59:43[SPEAKER_01]: uh... yeah and use rate is in the chances it's called diversity in your run game right yeah yeah i think so i think there needs to be more sort of diversity there um... absolutely uh... uh... let's get to over under
- 1:00:05[SPEAKER_02]: I think you're going over.
- 1:00:06[SPEAKER_03]: Something would bold.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_03]: Give it that over.
- 1:00:08[SPEAKER_03]: I've got to take it under here.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_03]: I've got three under to take.
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to do an under here.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_00]: Would you believe that the dogs went on an hour and a half.
- 1:00:14[SPEAKER_00]: Walk this morning?
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_01]: I...
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_01]: Longest walk they've gone in a long... Like you... You were out for several miles.
- 1:00:23[SPEAKER_01]: And...
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_01]: Here we are.
- 1:00:26[SPEAKER_01]: So, I'm sorry, Chris.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_01]: We're...
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_01]: We went to the nuclear option of the Yacht cheese.
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_00]: The problem with the, not to go on this again, the problem with the Yacht cheese or the bully sticks or the raw hides or whatever is that like, Badger notices that Jesse has one, too.
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_00]: And then Badger decides, well, I want that one.
- 1:00:52[SPEAKER_00]: Not the one that's right here.
- 1:00:54[SPEAKER_00]: I want yours.
- 1:00:59[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, here we go.
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_01]: All right, over under 287.
- 1:01:02[SPEAKER_01]: And a half titan might have a passing yards.
- 1:01:06[SPEAKER_01]: This was way under.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_01]: It was 135 yikes.
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_01]: All right, next one, over under 136.
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_01]: And a half Emmett Johnson rushing yards.
- 1:01:18[SPEAKER_01]: It was over way over a buck 65 for him.
- 1:01:22[SPEAKER_01]: Over under two and a half USC sacks.
- 1:01:24[SPEAKER_01]: It was under as one, just one.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_01]: Nebraska had been giving up a million sacks.
- 1:01:29[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't do that in this game.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_01]: SEON got to rail a little guns.
- 1:01:32[SPEAKER_01]: Ultimately, it was the one that knocked about the game.
- 1:01:35[SPEAKER_01]: unfortunately, it's awful looking replay, by the way, and he's up for this one here.
- 1:01:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I wonder if you have gotten more sacks in the end, if, you know, it was a little bit of a close battle between USC and Nebraska, and Nebraska was having to was willing to throw the ball more, and then we got the, the rail holding the ball a little bit too much trying to do so much kind of thing, but also USC's past rush is kind of weird, and I don't really understand it at all.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_00]: Also, was that a hip-rock tap drop tackle this has been a debate on Twitter that I I can't decide because again I don't know what the rules are anymore.
- 1:02:12[SPEAKER_00]: I can't I can't trust my own interpretation of anything anymore I haven't watched enough to to tell you
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_01]: Over under 39 and a half yards for the longest kicker term for Nebraska it was under at 25 Over under 36 and a half Uh third down right from Nebraska it was over 41.25 of 12 Uh and then over after six and a half with high 11 receptions it was under it was two Yeah, McIey has not had a good last two games
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, not the unfortunate thing for McCoy as I think this is really taking a strap stock.
- 1:02:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, um, on the plus side, I think it's becoming very clear that the Colby Lynch would not leave for the NFL, but no.
- 1:02:59[SPEAKER_01]: You went forward to, I went to and for, not good for me, top wrap out to the week, Steven Chad, Britain Irvine, and Pickle.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_01]: All went really well.
- 1:03:09[SPEAKER_01]: All went five and one this week.
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_01]: Grats, top brought about to the Steven, of the Steven, of the Steven, of the Steven.
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_01]: Steven events, number one, tied for number one, 22, over under one this year.
- 1:03:26[SPEAKER_01]: Tied for third is H-H-H-H-B-N-John clown, tied for fifth is J-Vandy, me, and Tim and L-A.
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_01]: So big ups to them, including myself, of course, tied for fifth.
- 1:03:37[SPEAKER_01]: Um, Vegas Spirit was S.E.
- 1:03:39[SPEAKER_01]: six and a half.
- 1:03:40[SPEAKER_01]: They did not cover.
- 1:03:41[SPEAKER_01]: F.E.I.
- 1:03:41[SPEAKER_01]: projections was 33, 27 of the Trojans in favor of that with a 59 point five wind probability and your prediction was 30 to 28 Trojans.
- 1:03:52[SPEAKER_01]: I said 31, 30 Trojans.
- 1:03:55[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't think we predicted that don't allow it would be out for most of the second half.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_01]: And we also didn't predict that Jade Myover was going to be that bad.
- 1:04:05[SPEAKER_01]: through the air.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I certainly didn't think for you and I was going to be that bad through the air.
- 1:04:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure that Dylan Riala being available in the end puts this score significantly higher.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I just think that the defense is one out in the game that we sort of expected the offense to have more of a say, can I update you on the call for a playoff?
- 1:04:32[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll just do you want the full rundown or do you want me to highlight just do the, yeah, whatever you want.
- 1:04:39[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, number 25 10 to see number 24 pit number 23 Washington number 22 Missouri number 21 Michigan.
- 1:04:48[SPEAKER_00]: Then number 20 Iowa, so USC's next opponent after next is number 20, and USC is number 19, just behind number 18 Miami, 17 Georgia Tech, 16 Van D. I don't think we've gotten the next set, but it's notable that like teams like Washington and pit and the
- 1:05:17[SPEAKER_00]: are in the top 25 where like the APs and hasn't acknowledged them.
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_00]: My favorite thing about the college from all playoff rankings is the way the AP scrambles the next week to copy them because the AP doesn't know.
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it doesn't have any clue what the, how the committee is going to, is going to weigh, weigh things.
- 1:05:37[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, USC 19 in the first rankings, they're next, they've got, number 20 Iowa coming up.
- 1:05:43[SPEAKER_00]: They've already beaten number 21 Michigan.
- 1:05:47[SPEAKER_00]: We'll see where Oregon is, but I think that'll be the last of the potentially ranked teams that U.S.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_00]: He will face.
- 1:05:59[SPEAKER_00]: There are no group of five teams ranked in the top 25.
- 1:06:03[SPEAKER_00]: Notre Dame is number 10.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, Utah is number 13, and so I am looking at this on Twitter.
- 1:06:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's all over the place.
- 1:06:15[SPEAKER_00]: I'm, I'm, uh, trying to catch up to, uh, to, I think they are still revealing it.
- 1:06:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's why, um, Texas 11, Oklahoma 12 Utah 13, Virginia 14, Louisville 15.
- 1:06:30[SPEAKER_00]: The remos is Louisville.
- 1:06:33[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 1:06:36[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get to the moment.
- 1:06:38[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's start with a voice mail we got from Rich.
- 1:06:44[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, great then against Nebraska, Lincoln Rally called a good game, except for that first quarter, where you ran three consecutive passing plays, but other than that, it was a great win.
- 1:06:56[SPEAKER_04]: One thing I wish is that didn't really owe that, what's healthy throughout the whole game, so we could actually see how the defense would react.
- 1:07:02[SPEAKER_04]: or a full four quarters, the Nebraska's office was pretty predictable once we held a got heard.
- 1:07:08[SPEAKER_04]: So good win over off, Rich and San Diego.
- 1:07:11[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for the call, Rich.
- 1:07:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I would love to know what the defense of performance in the second half would have been full stop with Role in there because I think the defense played really well in the second half, got the stops, all that kind of stuff.
- 1:07:28[SPEAKER_01]: but also like there's part of you that's like you haven't been playing a backup quarterback like how much of it was the backup quarterback how much of it were adjustments made
- 1:07:38[SPEAKER_01]: execution, all that kind of stuff, too.
- 1:07:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think we would know more if Reyola was still in there.
- 1:07:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, especially the effectiveness of USC's defense against the run, because I think that once Reyola goes out, you can just say, you know, we're going to put the bigger bodies in, we're going to sort of sack the box and see if we can limit Emmett Johnson and they did it just enough and know that they're not likely to get
- 1:08:05[SPEAKER_00]: Daggered by a quarterback, especially because it's not just the rail it goes out.
- 1:08:10[SPEAKER_00]: It's that the Nebraska offensive coordinator knows that he doesn't have Dillon Raila, and it's going to adjust his play calling accordingly for the For the backup who was very clearly more of a run threat than a past threat for them.
- 1:08:25[SPEAKER_00]: So it's Yeah, it's it's
- 1:08:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's a tricky evaluation.
- 1:08:31[SPEAKER_00]: Like I said, I don't know that Raiola was killing USC in the passing game either.
- 1:08:39[SPEAKER_00]: But it still does cloud it a little bit in terms of how real was the defensive performance.
- 1:08:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, uh, NG's Raider said the chat says, uh, last time we played Nebraska, who was the kind of it, the same quarter.
- 1:08:54[SPEAKER_01]: There was a trail, uh, yeah.
- 1:08:55[SPEAKER_01]: You trail and, and my posture, both.
- 1:08:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:08:59[SPEAKER_05]: Um, all right, voicemail from all the friends.
- 1:09:01[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, we're in Australia, Delhi, Fred calling.
- 1:09:03[SPEAKER_05]: Well, Saturday night at Nebraska was a very frustrating game.
- 1:09:07[SPEAKER_05]: And I sure hope I'm not alone and being very disappointed with how UFD came out to play, especially on offense.
- 1:09:14[SPEAKER_05]: And much less coming off of a buy week when they have no excuse, not to be sharp as a attack.
- 1:09:21[SPEAKER_05]: I forced myself to do a rewatch to this game to give it a fresh look and it was still exactly as I thought.
- 1:09:28[SPEAKER_05]: A huge smoking turd.
- 1:09:30[SPEAKER_05]: I do think this project has caught a huge break though when Bill and I all had to exit the game due to injury, forcing the Huskies to be out of their backup, TJ, LePee.
- 1:09:40[SPEAKER_05]: I think.
- 1:09:41[SPEAKER_05]: And thank goodness he was the only one in the stadium.
- 1:09:44[SPEAKER_05]: Throwing them all into my novel one.
- 1:09:46[SPEAKER_05]: Luckily, this allowed us to see to stack the box and somewhat slow down, Emmett Johnson, provide the opportunity to come back and win.
- 1:09:55[SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to stop my criticism there and focus more on the happiness of a big tank conference roadwind versus in a brass kitchen that was five and one at home.
- 1:10:05[SPEAKER_05]: And we all know how tough roadwinds have been to get under Lincoln Riley.
- 1:10:10[SPEAKER_05]: It fits exactly into one of my favorite sports things.
- 1:10:14[SPEAKER_05]: And ugly wind is always, always better than a pretty lost.
- 1:10:20[SPEAKER_05]: How much good short weeks, feet to wild paths, fight on everybody?
- 1:10:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, 100%.
- 1:10:26[SPEAKER_01]: As seen as not in the situation, realistically, to be cheesy when it comes to road widths.
- 1:10:35[SPEAKER_01]: You take your road width anyway, you can get it.
- 1:10:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and I agree with, I agree with everything that Fred said in the sense of like I came out very frustrated by that game.
- 1:10:44[SPEAKER_00]: I, the first half of that game made me want to bleach my eyes out.
- 1:10:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like I tweeted that like I would rather do laundry than have to watch that first half again.
- 1:10:52[SPEAKER_00]: It got only marginally better in the second half because USC defense at least started to, you know, get some stops, but it was an ugly performance.
- 1:11:02[SPEAKER_00]: Now, ugly performances can be forgiven if at the end of the season you are
- 1:11:08[SPEAKER_00]: You're nine and three.
- 1:11:09[SPEAKER_00]: Then I can look back at this and say it was just, you know, a tough road performance against the team that was doing a blackout that's tough, that's a tough to beat at home all that kind of stuff.
- 1:11:21[SPEAKER_00]: I guess the issue.
- 1:11:26[SPEAKER_00]: that I have coming out of this is I don't know what the rest of the season holds.
- 1:11:30[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that USC will be nine and three.
- 1:11:32[SPEAKER_00]: If USC is nine and three, then yes, it's easy to sort of look at this and say that USC figured something out.
- 1:11:38[SPEAKER_00]: If USC loses to Iowa, or God forbid UCLA, or both, you know, we're looking at this game as more proof of what USC isn't.
- 1:11:48[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that sort of the frustration that I have is that yes, coming out of a buy,
- 1:11:55[SPEAKER_00]: against a team like Nebraska that is
- 1:11:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, a tough beat at home, but also is a team with a clear set of weaknesses and strengths.
- 1:12:05[SPEAKER_00]: Like Nebraska, when we evaluated them coming in on the preview, we talked specifically about how they are one of the best past defenses in the country.
- 1:12:14[SPEAKER_00]: Now, they hadn't played a past offense as good as U.S. easy yet, but that they had been locked down all season, and that they could not stop the run to save their lives.
- 1:12:23[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, I think there's a universe where USC comes off this by week.
- 1:12:27[SPEAKER_00]: having decided, well, whether or not USC's, Nebraska's past defense is legitimate, we know their run defenses in legitimate.
- 1:12:37[SPEAKER_00]: Let's just force them to stop us on the ground and then we will, you know, put their past defense to the test a little bit more.
- 1:12:45[SPEAKER_00]: And that's kind of not what USC did.
- 1:12:48[SPEAKER_00]: And you end up with a terrible form performance from your quarterback and you end up in a, in a close game against the team that
- 1:12:55[SPEAKER_00]: I guess why I'm at is I want USC to aspire to more than just a 21 17 win over a team like Nebraska.
- 1:13:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:13:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think that if you if you play this game as it was with Rare Look going out the way that he did unfortunately because nobody wants to see that.
- 1:13:16[SPEAKER_01]: There are the options are A, what you had, SC wins 21, 17th.
- 1:13:23[SPEAKER_01]: There are the options in which SC does the thing that they do always in road games, which is they don't make the plays in the fourth quarter in the pivotal moments.
- 1:13:33[SPEAKER_01]: They give up the touchdown at the end.
- 1:13:35[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, maybe there's a pick six.
- 1:13:37[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever it is that you want to throw in there, right?
- 1:13:40[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the reason the SC loses.
- 1:13:42[SPEAKER_01]: The other option, I think is the option
- 1:13:45[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Dan on the cell of verbal will say that this should have been the case and I have a hard time arguing against it.
- 1:13:51[SPEAKER_01]: Is that in a situation where you have such an advantage on the ground running the ball yourself.
- 1:14:00[SPEAKER_01]: The other team has their best players, a quarterback.
- 1:14:05[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Emma Johnson, if you want to include him, obviously, still there.
- 1:14:08[SPEAKER_00]: I agree.
- 1:14:08[SPEAKER_00]: They're most important players.
- 1:14:11[SPEAKER_01]: Out of the game, they're now extremely one-dimensional, which when you have a defense like SCs that is vulnerable,
- 1:14:19[SPEAKER_01]: Fairly often, going one dimensional makes it significantly easier on your defense.
- 1:14:25[SPEAKER_00]: There's a reason U.S. these two best defensive performances of the season have come against the most one dimensional teams they've played.
- 1:14:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and so when you're getting the stops and when you're able to run the ball that much,
- 1:14:40[SPEAKER_01]: There's a world where you win this game, 35, 17.
- 1:14:42[SPEAKER_01]: And you put your foot on their throats.
- 1:14:46[SPEAKER_00]: And make a statement.
- 1:14:47[SPEAKER_01]: You take care of business.
- 1:14:50[SPEAKER_01]: And you come out and you're like, yeah, we had a sucky first half, but hey, we took advantage of the things that were going in our favor.
- 1:14:58[SPEAKER_01]: And I see didn't do that.
- 1:14:59[SPEAKER_01]: They all didn't go up itchily.
- 1:15:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but I think both of those things are truth the same.
- 1:15:03[SPEAKER_00]: M.D.'
- 1:15:03[SPEAKER_00]: 's writer says, sometimes games no matter who they are against or where they are, can be really difficult to win.
- 1:15:11[SPEAKER_00]: where I come down on this is that like, okay, in the Pete Caralera, USC would lose this kind of game if it was the Pactual Vot opener, like, lose this game pretty much every year, right?
- 1:15:22[SPEAKER_01]: If it was September 24th,
- 1:15:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so yeah, Pete never lost it in you know November November first no loss of ever was pizza thing, but like let's take the timing of the game out of the out of context like Sure going to a team like Nebraska, which let's call the you know going to Washington or going to Oregon state or going to, you know, one of these teams that isn't a terrible team not a great team, but not a terrible team on the road.
- 1:15:48[SPEAKER_00]: It's an ugly game and you lose it.
- 1:15:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's, yes, sometimes the games no matter where they are against or who they're against or where they are can be really difficult to win.
- 1:15:58[SPEAKER_00]: 100% that is a thing, but in the Pete Kerala, when USC would lose those games, I never felt like it was a reflection of the team, what the team could accomplish, or what the team was.
- 1:16:12[SPEAKER_00]: because we had so much proof otherwise of the team not being, you know, not being the identity of the team not not being wrapped up in that loss.
- 1:16:23[SPEAKER_01]: It would be easier to call this a clunker if it was truly a one-off.
- 1:16:28[SPEAKER_01]: If every game wasn't a clunker, yes, exactly.
- 1:16:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think the only part about this that is truly a one-off was how bad may have it was this season.
- 1:16:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, as we have not seen him be this bad since the SRS distribution let's make his bull and so far this year his worst game was the Notre Dame game and his Notre Dame game was still pretty good was way better than than this The only reason like his PF grade is right around where he was with the Notre Dame game and the only difference was that he he runs the ball better in this game and sort of it props props up some of his numbers, but yeah the the point being is that like
- 1:17:00[SPEAKER_00]: I want to be able to look at this game and say, you know, Pete Carroll won a lot of games ugly too.
- 1:17:06[SPEAKER_00]: Like I think that not everything was 2005 like running running away from, you know, teams, those like out of conference games where USC absolutely dominated a lot of the conference games were, wow, that was an ugly first half.
- 1:17:20[SPEAKER_00]: And then the come back in the second half and, you know, you get you get your 30 to 17 win and you just move on.
- 1:17:27[SPEAKER_00]: But those teams had sort of earned some benefit of the doubt that this team does not have.
- 1:17:32[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm not giving them a benefit of the doubt.
- 1:17:34[SPEAKER_00]: I would love to.
- 1:17:35[SPEAKER_00]: I really would and I'm not saying this to be like, I'm not saying this to be negative or anything like that.
- 1:17:41[SPEAKER_00]: This is just my honest assessment.
- 1:17:43[SPEAKER_00]: I wish I could just say this was a win as a win and I don't have any anxiety about this particular, the way that this particular win happened.
- 1:17:52[SPEAKER_00]: But this team and this coaching staff have not earned my benefit of the doubt.
- 1:17:57[SPEAKER_00]: to tell me that this, the way that this game played out was not a reflection of the quality of this team or what they can accomplish.
- 1:18:06[SPEAKER_00]: In a way that the Pete Carroll teams, you know, those losses were frustrating, but they always felt like aberrations, where this didn't feel like an aberration, this felt like, well, this is part of the course and USC just happened to win this one.
- 1:18:19[SPEAKER_00]: And again, as I said, like, it feels to me like USC might have
- 1:18:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:30[SPEAKER_01]: No, I, I, I, I,
- 1:18:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it would also help if, you know, Nebraska didn't have a track record of capitulating in these games themselves.
- 1:18:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and Nick in the chat says 2018 wins in Oregon state that teams winning in Attie, yes.
- 1:18:46[SPEAKER_00]: And that team wins in Attie in most other years of college football and certainly if the playoff is an existence, but that's a really good point to bring up because that Oregon state team, that Oregon state loss made zero content,
- 1:19:02[SPEAKER_00]: Because that was one of the best defenses that USC has ever fielded.
- 1:19:08[SPEAKER_00]: and that defense was torn apart in that game against Oregon State.
- 1:19:12[SPEAKER_01]: That lost Oregon State was on nine win Oregon State too.
- 1:19:15[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yes, but that lost Oregon State was not a reflection of what that team, what that 2018 won was.
- 1:19:21[SPEAKER_00]: That was, you're on the road, you know, in a difficult place to play against a decent opponent and shit happens where, you know, this might just be a shit happens, you know, close win.
- 1:19:32[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I'm not ready to say that yet.
- 1:19:36[SPEAKER_01]: No, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, here's here just just to just to carry on with this.
- 1:19:42[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 1:19:43[SPEAKER_00]: USC has played four road games so far this year, right?
- 1:19:47[SPEAKER_00]: How would we rank those opponents?
- 1:19:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's very simple.
- 1:19:50[SPEAKER_00]: It's Notre Dame Illinois Nebraska Purdue, right?
- 1:19:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 1:19:55[SPEAKER_00]: USC loses to Notre Dame by ten.
- 1:19:57[SPEAKER_00]: USC loses to Illinois by two.
- 1:20:00[SPEAKER_00]: USC beats Nebraska by four.
- 1:20:06[SPEAKER_00]: So you send it to me what's going on with USC on the road has more to do with the opponent than with anything that USC is bringing to the USC is par and the outcome against these opponents is a reflection of those opponents.
- 1:20:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the SC's been consistent in that sense.
- 1:20:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:20:26[SPEAKER_01]: I will give you that absolutely.
- 1:20:29[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, do there's the name Florida lost at home?
- 1:20:33[SPEAKER_00]: oh miss oh don't get me started on comparing who's lost was better and who's wins were better I that era of college football was an absolute freaking mess did the game that Timo cried the speech yeah probably speech right yeah yeah
- 1:20:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's time to be alive.
- 1:20:52[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go to USC losing to Oregon state in like today that would be you know Alabama losing to Kentucky or somebody on the road and going like, oh, well, that's just what Kentucky is like There would have been so much more respect for USC's lost Oregon state if if you if the SEC could have like if we could have like compared it properly in terms of in hindsight, I don't think the Oregon state
- 1:21:19[SPEAKER_01]: as it looks on paper now.
- 1:21:21[SPEAKER_01]: No it really isn't.
- 1:21:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm looking at it now.
- 1:21:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think it also doesn't help that Oregon State started the season 0 and 2 and got blown out by Penn State in week 2.
- 1:21:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:21:35[SPEAKER_01]: But then they beat SC, they lose on the road at Utah the following week by a field goal.
- 1:21:40[SPEAKER_01]: But then they win the next six games in a row.
- 1:21:43[SPEAKER_01]: They do give up 65 points to Oregon in the Civil War, but then they win the Sun Bowl three-nathen over Pit and win nine games.
- 1:21:54[SPEAKER_00]: What a Sun Bowl.
- 1:21:56[SPEAKER_00]: That's the most Sun Bowl thing I heard.
- 1:21:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's very Sun Bowley.
- 1:22:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:22:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like this Oregon State teams are always great well coach than their micro alleys and all that stuff Coral's stuff with place to play in hindsight.
- 1:22:10[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think the Oregon State get the Oregon State loss is not a it's not a crime It's a crime
- 1:22:17[SPEAKER_01]: given that that was a season call triple where you needed to be perfect to an national team.
- 1:22:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's a crime that that team didn't get a chance to play for an national title.
- 1:22:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's the crime, not that they lost Oregon State, but that the system was what it was that I will also always say that like I think the assumption that SC absolutely wins that national championship.
- 1:22:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's always probably a little bit overblown.
- 1:22:41[SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, that mean you never know.
- 1:22:42[SPEAKER_00]: You literally never know.
- 1:22:43[SPEAKER_01]: No, the reason I'm saying that is because like, that wasn't here where there were so many good teams.
- 1:22:47[SPEAKER_01]: There were so many good teams.
- 1:22:48[SPEAKER_01]: I have no doubt that O6, SC and O7, SC with national championships.
- 1:22:54[SPEAKER_01]: The 2018, which was better than those O6 and O7 teams, by the way.
- 1:23:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:23:00[SPEAKER_01]: Which murders the O6 and O7 team was also playing a year in which teams were just better in O8.
- 1:23:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think the O8 season,
- 1:23:07[SPEAKER_01]: had a lot of really good teams.
- 1:23:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a lot of really good teams.
- 1:23:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 1:23:12[SPEAKER_00]: I just wanted to add one thing to my, my rant about my anxiety about USC's wins and losses.
- 1:23:22[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes being more of a reflection of their, of the opponent than, than them.
- 1:23:26[SPEAKER_00]: For instance, last year season opener against LSU.
- 1:23:30[SPEAKER_00]: Does USC beat LSU because USC's better than LSU or does USC beat LSU because LSU just always loses their their season opener because they had done it like five years in a row.
- 1:23:41[SPEAKER_00]: Does USC beat Nebraska because USC's better than Nebraska or does USC beat Nebraska because Nebraska is oh and eight and gets ranked teams under Matt rules like I mean last year SE game lost.
- 1:23:53[SPEAKER_01]: every game in which the other team had the ball at the end, right?
- 1:23:58[SPEAKER_01]: With the exception of Nebraska and Nebraska was the team.
- 1:24:02[SPEAKER_01]: And again, Nebraska's known for not winning the games at the end.
- 1:24:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:24:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:24:06[SPEAKER_00]: And not to say that like I'm not and I will go on.
- 1:24:09[SPEAKER_00]: I will go on the record.
- 1:24:10[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Nebraska was scoring on that last drive, but it is so Nebraska that the way that they don't score on that last drive has nothing to do with anything USC does.
- 1:24:22[SPEAKER_00]: It's the running back literally, literally trips on 4th and 1th.
- 1:24:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's the most Nebraska way to lose possible in a way that's like, it's almost disappointing.
- 1:24:33[SPEAKER_00]: It's because I would have liked to have celebrated USC's defense, making a play to win a game.
- 1:24:39[SPEAKER_00]: They needed a make a play to win a game moment, and they were denied that by the Nebraska of it all.
- 1:24:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you need the JR to buy strips and I think in this game, it felt like USC was capable of getting that play.
- 1:24:56[SPEAKER_00]: It felt like, you know, Eric Gentry and Camari Ramsey played really well.
- 1:25:00[SPEAKER_00]: That like, there were guys out there who I felt like could step up and make that play.
- 1:25:04[SPEAKER_00]: And it just, it's just funny that it comes down to the way that it does.
- 1:25:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'd like to point out, Eric Gentry, got his traditional road gate for his first fun boy.
- 1:25:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 1:25:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:25:14[SPEAKER_01]: You got one of those.
- 1:25:16[SPEAKER_01]: So now it's every game in the last two years.
- 1:25:19[SPEAKER_01]: The exception another day.
- 1:25:20[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 1:25:20[SPEAKER_01]: Email from Nick.
- 1:25:21[SPEAKER_01]: At least you might go hope the wedding was fun and you all had a great time.
- 1:25:24[SPEAKER_01]: We did.
- 1:25:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'll make this quick.
- 1:25:26[SPEAKER_01]: a win is a win, it was very ugly, it only took baby my home, springy is ankle, and the turf monster helping us out on 4th and short in the last few minutes to secure the win.
- 1:25:35[SPEAKER_01]: But I'll beat the wildcats, there's also follow up email, I'll add on to my last email after sleep being on it and trying to be less pessimistic.
- 1:25:43[SPEAKER_01]: It was another great show me for King Miller, besides the woes, the
- 1:25:47[SPEAKER_01]: We had with the passing game to no kines as a true freshman made some very critical catches that kept drives alive and for as bad as a game as Jayden had in the air it was finally glad to see him use his feet and overall to say the defense did what they needed to be done.
- 1:26:01[SPEAKER_01]: I gave it up only 17 points during a blackout game and Lincoln Nebraska is an accomplishment.
- 1:26:06[SPEAKER_00]: 100% yes, and I and I do want to call out we haven't really had a lot of and we're going to get accused of being so negative and I'm sorry guys, but Here's some positives We haven't really had a chance to talk a lot about like to nook and some of the the standout players in this game PFF's grades for USC the top players on offense were Jayden Richardson to no kinds King Miller Elijah page and Kaylon Miller I think that
- 1:26:30[SPEAKER_00]: in a game where Jacobi Lane and McCy Lemmon were completely shut down to nook and Jane Richardson stepped up with really, really critical plays.
- 1:26:41[SPEAKER_00]: There weren't many of them for them, but the like one catch that Jane Richardson has is a massive
- 1:26:49[SPEAKER_00]: massive catch and to no kind's only has two catches in this game, but both of them are big big catches for him really big moments for two guys who are clearly not like the the star receivers But shout out to to no kind's for being a true freshman who continues to show up game in and game out And especially to Jayden Richardson who we haven't talked a lot about
- 1:27:13[SPEAKER_00]: But it does feel like Jaden Richardson is quietly becoming the not the 22 24 Kiron Hudson, but like the 223 Kiron Hudson, the one who like pops up for like one or two catches a game.
- 1:27:26[SPEAKER_00]: He makes tough catches.
- 1:27:28[SPEAKER_00]: He makes tough catches, yes.
- 1:27:30[SPEAKER_00]: But it's like he always pops up for like a first-down catch.
- 1:27:34[SPEAKER_00]: In almost every game he's had.
- 1:27:35[SPEAKER_00]: So, so big for him and then obviously King and Kailon.
- 1:27:38[SPEAKER_00]: good to have a lives of page back and to have him playing well.
- 1:27:41[SPEAKER_00]: And then I also wanted to call one more thing for talking positives.
- 1:27:46[SPEAKER_00]: U.S. defense has had a rough go of it, but I was looking at the PFF numbers and something stood out to me against Nebraska.
- 1:27:54[SPEAKER_00]: So the way PFF works is they give you like the grade and then there's like color coordinating, right?
- 1:27:59[SPEAKER_00]: So anything above like a
- 1:28:03[SPEAKER_00]: is like shaded in like a yellow green and then it gets like a darker green as you go up in in in in in like positives positive rating, right?
- 1:28:15[SPEAKER_00]: So against Notre Dame, USC had two players on defense who were in the green shades.
- 1:28:21[SPEAKER_00]: Against Illinois, they had five in the green shades.
- 1:28:24[SPEAKER_00]: These are the last two last two road games.
- 1:28:28[SPEAKER_00]: Against Michigan, they had 12 in the green shade.
- 1:28:31[SPEAKER_00]: against Nebraska.
- 1:28:32[SPEAKER_00]: They have 11 in green trade.
- 1:28:34[SPEAKER_00]: Like again, the two best defensive performances of the season are gay.
- 1:28:39[SPEAKER_00]: Our ones were a greater number of players simply show up and have a good game.
- 1:28:45[SPEAKER_00]: Top players on defense were Eric Gentry, Khmer Ramsey, Desmond Stevens, Anthony Lucas and Marcelo Williams.
- 1:28:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, um,
- 1:28:54[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go to, uh, in the chat, uh, the stories hero join us over in the, um, route supporters club big ups.
- 1:29:03[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 1:29:04[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, thank you.
- 1:29:06[SPEAKER_01]: And there was a question for the pod from the stories hero, uh, who do we have to speak to to get Eric to entry and where we're 55 already?
- 1:29:13[SPEAKER_01]: We've talked about this for a while.
- 1:29:15[SPEAKER_01]: He, he,
- 1:29:17[SPEAKER_01]: You got to give it to somebody.
- 1:29:18[SPEAKER_00]: It's a gift.
- 1:29:18[SPEAKER_00]: Give somebody the, I'm gonna just be a broken record.
- 1:29:21[SPEAKER_00]: Give somebody the 55.
- 1:29:22[SPEAKER_00]: If Eric French wants it, give it to him.
- 1:29:24[SPEAKER_00]: If he doesn't, then give it to a freshman.
- 1:29:27[SPEAKER_00]: Somebody should be wearing 55.
- 1:29:30[SPEAKER_00]: Just do it.
- 1:29:31[SPEAKER_00]: I think somebody in the chat said, save it for Telenoa, Ely.
- 1:29:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, by all means, I'm perfectly happy with that.
- 1:29:39[SPEAKER_00]: I am tired of the 55, not being out there.
- 1:29:41[SPEAKER_00]: Gentry is more than,
- 1:29:46[SPEAKER_00]: more than earned the 55 if that's what he wants, but also we need to stop acting like you earn the 55.
- 1:29:53[SPEAKER_00]: No one ever earned the 55 that went on to be good in the 55.
- 1:29:57[SPEAKER_00]: They were all given it as freshman.
- 1:29:59[SPEAKER_00]: Just stuff it.
- 1:30:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's a retconning.
- 1:30:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's a retconning.
- 1:30:03[SPEAKER_01]: Junior say I passed away and then everyone went back on into like you have to earn it.
- 1:30:08[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 1:30:09[SPEAKER_00]: Lamar Dawson got it as a freshman.
- 1:30:11[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry that he was disappointing, but Keith Rivers also got it as a freshman.
- 1:30:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:30:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, 100%.
- 1:30:19[SPEAKER_01]: And if the idea is that, should you say it has to be involved in giving the number to those guys?
- 1:30:25[SPEAKER_01]: And now he's no longer involved.
- 1:30:27[SPEAKER_01]: Well, then retire in the number.
- 1:30:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:30:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was Mr. P, who said, tell I know Ely for the record, so yeah, yeah.
- 1:30:33[SPEAKER_01]: So, and then the story is here.
- 1:30:35[SPEAKER_01]: I also said, asked about the discord.
- 1:30:37[SPEAKER_01]: I will look into that stuff.
- 1:30:39[SPEAKER_01]: I will make sure that we're getting everybody in the discord that should be in the discord.
- 1:30:43[SPEAKER_00]: There's a podcast when was the last time fifty-five was out there.
- 1:30:46[SPEAKER_00]: Literally Lamar Dawson was the last to wear it in 2012.
- 1:30:50[SPEAKER_00]: 2012.
- 1:30:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:30:54[SPEAKER_00]: Do you play in 13?
- 1:30:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think he did play here.
- 1:30:56[SPEAKER_00]: If you played in 13 it was 13.
- 1:30:57[SPEAKER_00]: It needed to say.
- 1:30:58[SPEAKER_00]: It's been over 10 years.
- 1:31:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:31:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's been a while.
- 1:31:01[SPEAKER_00]: Because Junior died in in 2012.
- 1:31:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:31:07[SPEAKER_00]: So it was yeah.
- 1:31:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:31:10[SPEAKER_01]: Um, if I don't notice in the chat says why I looked it up and seemed like they're going to schedule an SD game against I will for an FN 1230 kickoff WTF.
- 1:31:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 1:31:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's the homecoming game.
- 1:31:23[SPEAKER_01]: People who are here.
- 1:31:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's been wanting a homecoming game.
- 1:31:29[SPEAKER_01]: Um, that is earlier in the day, people have said that people also want it later so that way there's more time to do homecoming stuff.
- 1:31:36[SPEAKER_01]: But also people complain about night games.
- 1:31:39[SPEAKER_01]: They complain about early games.
- 1:31:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's McCail and Moroni is not impressed and it doesn't literally doesn't matter what time you put it in, somebody's going to complain.
- 1:31:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 1:31:54[SPEAKER_01]: Email from Andrew, at least he said in that unit grading episode, quote, my aunt, my aunt hasn't had a clunker yet, the second she said that I screamed out loud, oh, oh, as a 10 year rot listener and historic rot historian, I can tell you,
- 1:32:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's not the first time this happened.
- 1:32:13[SPEAKER_01]: At least he has superpowers, happy travels, Andrew Madrid.
- 1:32:18[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you for the email Andrew.
- 1:32:20[SPEAKER_00]: I need to start using my powers for good.
- 1:32:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like talking about how USC's passing defense hasn't had a shutdown game yet.
- 1:32:34[SPEAKER_01]: You know, SC hasn't won in your gene in a while.
- 1:32:36[SPEAKER_00]: USC has not won in your gene in a while.
- 1:32:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, my bank account hasn't had a million dollars in it.
- 1:32:44[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's been a while since I won the lottery.
- 1:32:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying it's been a long while since I got, you know, a notification of a, you know, a massive, uh, payout from some thing that I bought 15 years ago that I don't even remember where it was, you know, it, it, it,
- 1:33:04[SPEAKER_00]: it really is a thing you can carry is on the king's roster and Michael is in allowed to wear his king's hat until that rotten guy is off the roster that really is a crazy thing now you know people who used to work at Target there is a big class action lawsuit and we're all getting a million dollars because of some payroll issue that hasn't really happened in a while
- 1:33:27[SPEAKER_01]: I got to say S.C. hasn't won, I'm sorry, Chelsea hasn't won a game and I'm sure by John and like what seven years, you know?
- 1:33:38[SPEAKER_01]: Way of care about tomorrow, you know?
- 1:33:40[SPEAKER_01]: Just sand.
- 1:33:41[SPEAKER_01]: Just sand.
- 1:33:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:33:42[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, in the chat, um, it was mentioned by Mr. P. They just found out that Kevin Allison died from contractions too.
- 1:33:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:33:49[SPEAKER_01]: That one.
- 1:33:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:33:50[SPEAKER_01]: That was.
- 1:33:51[SPEAKER_01]: There's no comparing tragedies.
- 1:33:54[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 1:33:55[SPEAKER_01]: That's ridiculous.
- 1:33:56[SPEAKER_01]: And all tragedies are awful.
- 1:34:00[SPEAKER_01]: The Kevin Allison won.
- 1:34:02[SPEAKER_01]: That wrecked me, man.
- 1:34:04[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely wrecked me.
- 1:34:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:34:07[SPEAKER_01]: For multiple, like, he had before he passed away, he had the incident with the arson thing.
- 1:34:17[SPEAKER_01]: And so it's like, we knew this TTE thing was an issue.
- 1:34:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we knew that there was an issue there, right?
- 1:34:28[SPEAKER_01]: And that was, it was sad.
- 1:34:31[SPEAKER_01]: Junior Sayah was completely out of nowhere in hindsight of course you know in hindsight makes a lot of sense knowing that we know now about football players and all that kind of stuff But like It was was especially sad with Kevin Ellison because like
- 1:34:48[SPEAKER_01]: There was a rough ending that had a, had a scary moment before and it's still ended up still being a scary thing, so this is the really sad thing about being a football fan is like, I think we all need to be hoping and that we are able to figure something out about the CTE thing.
- 1:35:12[SPEAKER_00]: to either catch it earlier and find a way to treat it or slow it to prevent it to all of these things because we fall in love with these players and unfortunately far, far, far, far too many of them will and have ended up being worse for where on that front and it's just really sucks because...
- 1:35:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm not going to sit here and say they should ban the game or that you know you shouldn't let your kids play football No, we got to take it so seriously.
- 1:35:46[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not that guy at the same point It is very unsettling to me that's growing up watching us see football My favorite hit ever yeah, let's Kevin Ellison on The Sean Jackson at the Colosseum in 2007
- 1:36:06[SPEAKER_01]: and in the moment, I thought the Sean Jackson was dead, which not what, not celebrating the idea.
- 1:36:15[SPEAKER_01]: But like, no, it was the hardest thing.
- 1:36:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I've never freaking seen it.
- 1:36:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I remember.
- 1:36:19[SPEAKER_01]: The Rose Bowl won with, with Taylor Mace taking out Kevin Ellison too.
- 1:36:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like the other Ellison.
- 1:36:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:36:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:36:28[SPEAKER_01]: No Kevin Thomas the other Thomas Kevin Thomas.
- 1:36:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, oh crap John Jarrett is out with season any injury.
- 1:36:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's I'm going surgery.
- 1:36:40[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's not good But going back to the Kevin Nelson thing it's like That is such a I you know, it was the Sean Jackson coming to the Colosseum after all of the the recruiting stuff after the
- 1:36:58[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Cal at the time was like S.C.s like chief in conference rival at the time.
- 1:37:04[SPEAKER_01]: Apart from YouTube obviously, but like it was, it was such a big moment in 2007.
- 1:37:11[SPEAKER_01]: And that, like such a great hit to watch in that moment.
- 1:37:16[SPEAKER_01]: I think where I've watched it on YouTube a million times.
- 1:37:19[SPEAKER_01]: And then to think about it.
- 1:37:23[SPEAKER_01]: What role did that hit play in Kevin Ellison's demise?
- 1:37:28[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 1:37:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's gross, and then to think that, like, cheering this hard head hunting hit on the Sean Jackson, even though as a kid, I didn't like the guy because he was on a rival team.
- 1:37:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:37:42[SPEAKER_00]: He's gross now.
- 1:37:42[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
- 1:37:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's rough.
- 1:37:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:37:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:37:46[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of implications.
- 1:37:48[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of things.
- 1:37:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's new context, right?
- 1:37:50[SPEAKER_01]: It's, there's a reason that the NFL doesn't make those NFL boom.
- 1:37:54[SPEAKER_01]: Chris, yes.
- 1:37:57[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 1:37:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Brian in the chat says the elephant in the room is they need to put size and weight limits on the players and reduce some of the momentum in these hits my hot take continues to be that they need to Transition towards soft helmets um they need to make the players themselves
- 1:38:18[SPEAKER_00]: have to like govern self-govern their like they are simply too big and too fast and the only like Because the helm it's weird because I don't want to see it like about is rugby rugby has this problem has the Contention problem too, but it's just like no, but the this is roads.
- 1:38:39[SPEAKER_01]: Do you know that the what the most dangerous residential roads in America are
- 1:38:45[SPEAKER_01]: though the white ones with no trees.
- 1:38:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, because you can't see, you have no reference for your speed.
- 1:38:51[SPEAKER_01]: Well, not only that, it is too comfortable.
- 1:38:56[SPEAKER_01]: The safest residential roads in America are the narrow ones with trees.
- 1:39:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:39:02[SPEAKER_01]: Because your natural inclination,
- 1:39:06[SPEAKER_01]: is too drive slower because you cannot see and be comfortable there.
- 1:39:11[SPEAKER_01]: And that is a weird psychological thing that doesn't make any logical sense, right?
- 1:39:18[SPEAKER_01]: Because like, oh, well, they should be safer with more protections.
- 1:39:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that's how, yes.
- 1:39:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:39:26[SPEAKER_01]: But like, there is this other element to like, well, that.
- 1:39:31[SPEAKER_00]: But it's like, it's like,
- 1:39:35[SPEAKER_00]: If cars were indestructible and a crash didn't put you in danger of being killed or injured, there would be a lot more crashes.
- 1:39:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that that's part of the issue with the way that helmets are designed is there's almost, it's not too much protection, it's just that like you as a tackler and as a somebody with the ball, you are almost
- 1:40:03[SPEAKER_00]: tricked into a sense of safety because you have the helmet where you know the soft shield helmets mean you can't throw yourself around in the same kind of way now I do say this knowing full well like this is a pipe dream that will literally never happen I think though the the way to go is is those panels helmets that shock absorption is just better
- 1:40:33[SPEAKER_01]: Um, This is out for the season.
- 1:40:36[SPEAKER_01]: Judgerds.
- 1:40:37[SPEAKER_00]: Judgerds.
- 1:40:38[SPEAKER_00]: Judgerds.
- 1:40:38[SPEAKER_00]: The defensive blame.
- 1:40:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:40:41[SPEAKER_00]: Um, Trojan fight in the chat said, I hope you guys let the bride and groom have it for scheduling a fall wedding.
- 1:40:48[SPEAKER_00]: it was a Sunday wedding to be fair be fair it was a Sunday was on Sunday yes so we were able to watch the game and uh... you know not have it be a complete uh... pain in the ass to be literally at the wedding ceremony when the game started which would have been the case if uh... the if it was an activity is started
- 1:41:10[SPEAKER_00]: literally as the game SD game ended yes, and that there was like, you know, the cocktail hour of the cocktail hours was was on Saturday night So like which was very funny because a lot of us had been in the sports book watching the USC game and then the baseball game was on there
- 1:41:29[SPEAKER_00]: and we left going to the place where the cocktail hour was going to be hoping it was going to be in a bar so we were like well they might have a TV on they probably do and we get over there and it's like the one place in the entire fricking casino that doesn't have a TV with this with the game on so it was basically just sets of people at tables with one person's phone open with the game on watching the end of the world series so that was
- 1:41:59[SPEAKER_01]: I still think that the Blue Jays just got terribly unlucky, but I genuinely do not think that there is a team that has ever had a heartbreaking loss that is could be more heartbreaking than what the Blue Jays had.
- 1:42:15[SPEAKER_01]: I did.
- 1:42:15[SPEAKER_01]: The only thing that comes close, and I think that you can make the argument that this is worse, was Buckner.
- 1:42:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:42:30[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe a centimeter.
- 1:42:33[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
- 1:42:33[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, way from winning the world series.
- 1:42:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 1:42:36[SPEAKER_00]: Multiple times.
- 1:42:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:42:38[SPEAKER_00]: Multiple times.
- 1:42:39[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, just like, just think that, like, the minimum meter.
- 1:42:42[SPEAKER_00]: The minimum meter difference in game six.
- 1:42:45[SPEAKER_00]: If that ground rule, if that ball is a millimeter higher or lower, it doesn't get stuck in the wall and game six plays out very differently.
- 1:42:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:42:54[SPEAKER_01]: And then,
- 1:42:57[SPEAKER_01]: You hit it to the wall and got him in the knife, and there's a collision in the house.
- 1:43:03[SPEAKER_00]: How do I know?
- 1:43:04[SPEAKER_00]: No, I will say, okay, again, neither of us are dodger chance, so just like bear with us here dodger chance, but like it would have been the funniest way that a world that a championship has ever been lost in the history of sports, if that outpiled collision had resulted in the ball falling, if the ball had not been caught.
- 1:43:24[SPEAKER_00]: That would have been.
- 1:43:25[SPEAKER_00]: Buckner could have slept.
- 1:43:27[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, Buckner still alive.
- 1:43:29[SPEAKER_00]: Buckner's family could have slept easy.
- 1:43:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like anyone with the Buckner name could have slept easy.
- 1:43:36[SPEAKER_00]: It would cease to be the biggest postseason blunder in the history of sport because that would have been the biggest postseason blunder in the history of sport.
- 1:43:45[SPEAKER_01]: I think it would have been apropos if when Rojas throws
- 1:43:54[SPEAKER_01]: and like he's off balance right like he wants to throw back like him throwing like he is very off balance it's a it's a surprise that it's that great of a throw it's a hard throw to make when your momentum is going we're all that stuff if his throw would have been high the way that the fillies guy catering through the the thing like that would have been
- 1:44:18[SPEAKER_01]: It would have been art.
- 1:44:19[SPEAKER_01]: It would have been art.
- 1:44:19[SPEAKER_01]: It would have been art.
- 1:44:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:44:21[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, we have to lots that got forsaken franchise when another world series with an
- 1:44:37[SPEAKER_00]: It was very funny at the wedding, we have a family friend who is in the Dodgers.
- 1:44:42[SPEAKER_00]: She works in the Dodgers organization and she did not realize what a Dodger hater Michael was.
- 1:44:49[SPEAKER_00]: And so we were talking to her about, you know, just stuff with the Dodgers and, you know, excitement for the, you know, she's getting another ring and all this kind of stuff.
- 1:45:00[SPEAKER_00]: we were talking about whether or not the 2020 ring like what's the most valuable ring in terms of just like historicness and we were you know saying is it this is it this one because of the epic nature of the series or is it 2020 because of the uniqueness and I mentioned that like well I don't know people call the people like my husband called the 2020 world series of Mickey Mouse championships so
- 1:45:27[SPEAKER_00]: He stomps over, like literally like stomps over to have a conversation with Michael.
- 1:45:35[SPEAKER_01]: And she's like, I heard what you said about 2020.
- 1:45:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, what that it was fake?
- 1:45:38[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 1:45:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:45:43[SPEAKER_01]: And then, you know, rightfully predictably, the, well, you know, it's actually the hardest from playoff because there were more teams that were, which, that's fine.
- 1:45:54[SPEAKER_01]: I get it.
- 1:45:57[SPEAKER_01]: I get it.
- 1:45:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's also fake.
- 1:46:01[SPEAKER_00]: I'm before the record.
- 1:46:03[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like the Dodgers.
- 1:46:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not a Dodger fan, but I will go to bat for 2020 in that no team has ever had to win a series.
- 1:46:12[SPEAKER_00]: To win a world series in the context of in the context that the Dodgers did it, and I don't think it was easier than any other world series that that others have won.
- 1:46:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think that the public that the psychological
- 1:46:30[SPEAKER_00]: way of those players being in the bubble was just something that nobody has ever had to deal with and that were it like it's a different challenge one that is unique and one that is certainly not an easy thing to have done which is why also don't
- 1:46:48[SPEAKER_00]: fault the lakers for their for their bubble championship either because again we know that the bubble is less of a Mickey Mouse one because they've still played a full season.
- 1:47:03[SPEAKER_01]: I see the merit in the thought that like the playoffs themselves were such a unique and difficult challenge.
- 1:47:11[SPEAKER_01]: And also everybody was playing everyone signed up for a season and a playoff that was the same.
- 1:47:18[SPEAKER_01]: So like yeah, obviously But it's just not the same as the other ones.
- 1:47:23[SPEAKER_01]: They played 60 games.
- 1:47:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but okay.
- 1:47:26[SPEAKER_01]: Can you go find any season and look at the post 60 games
- 1:47:36[SPEAKER_00]: We aren't celebrating the Dodgers getting into the playoffs, it's a celebration of them winning the championship.
- 1:47:42[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody in the playoffs got to the play.
- 1:47:44[SPEAKER_00]: Like what team didn't make the playoffs in 2020 that would have would have changed the outcome of the 2020 world series?
- 1:47:51[SPEAKER_01]: Let's okay.
- 1:47:52[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to legislate this.
- 1:47:54[SPEAKER_01]: Let's add.
- 1:47:56[SPEAKER_01]: 2020 standings pulling it up.
- 1:47:58[SPEAKER_01]: Let's let's get into it.
- 1:48:00[SPEAKER_01]: If we're gonna go fully into it 2020 standings who who would have not who did not make the playoffs that could have been The could have wrecked havoc.
- 1:48:10[SPEAKER_01]: We're saying right.
- 1:48:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's what the argument is
- 1:48:13[SPEAKER_00]: That what it made a difference.
- 1:48:14[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 1:48:14[SPEAKER_00]: So the giants, the fillies, the rockies, the mets, the nats, the diamond backs, the pirates, the mariners, the royals, the angels, the Orioles, the red socks, the tigers, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, Rangers, whatever mariners, whatever.
- 1:48:30[SPEAKER_00]: Like you're telling me any of those teams would have changed the outcome of the world series.
- 1:48:36[SPEAKER_00]: Not necessarily.
- 1:48:38[SPEAKER_00]: No, absolutely not.
- 1:48:40[SPEAKER_01]: But like you have to factor in the first series.
- 1:48:45[SPEAKER_01]: First of all, it is the thing now.
- 1:48:48[SPEAKER_01]: The bullshit three game wildcard series was the thing.
- 1:48:53[SPEAKER_01]: Then it's a thing now.
- 1:48:55[SPEAKER_01]: Those are ridiculous, utterly ridiculous.
- 1:48:59[SPEAKER_01]: But like,
- 1:49:01[SPEAKER_00]: uh... it was sixty they don't know they beat the they beat the podraise which is i think they played they've have to do they beat the braves in seven which is again a thing that they would have to do most years and then they beat the raise in in uh... six like it's
- 1:49:22[SPEAKER_00]: And Kenny in the chat said that like it changes the feeling no fans being there.
- 1:49:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but they also didn't get the advantage of home.
- 1:49:28[SPEAKER_00]: They never got a home field advantage.
- 1:49:30[SPEAKER_00]: They never got the advantage of their home crowd.
- 1:49:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like hernament itself.
- 1:49:34[SPEAKER_01]: I agree is like is very valid and all that kind of stuff.
- 1:49:40[SPEAKER_01]: But the whole thing about baseball is that it's the grind of the 162 and then we all bitch about how it actually didn't matter because the number one seed got immediately eliminated in four games or whatever because of some because that's how baseball is and all that kind of stuff like it they played 60 games like yeah, okay, but like
- 1:50:03[SPEAKER_00]: They all played 60 games and they all had to go into the playoffs and they all had to find a way to win Why are you making me defend the Dodgers Michael stop it?
- 1:50:19[SPEAKER_00]: I would love for anybody else who have won the World Series.
- 1:50:22[SPEAKER_00]: I was rooting for the race.
- 1:50:24[SPEAKER_00]: Or literally anybody else except the Yankees and the Astros.
- 1:50:27[SPEAKER_00]: I had to have done something different in that...
- 1:50:30[SPEAKER_01]: I also think it was funny.
- 1:50:32[SPEAKER_01]: In a time in which the Dodgers would barf all over themselves every October, it was very funny that they won the Bullshit one.
- 1:50:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like that was funny, like genuinely funny.
- 1:50:44[SPEAKER_00]: Internet made I do but also just like did you okay, did you want them to simply not play a world did you just don't play the season then like
- 1:50:54[SPEAKER_00]: That's not what I'm saying because if if we're saying that like the championship doesn't count, then it's just going to climb the season.
- 1:51:02[SPEAKER_00]: What is the point of playing the season then?
- 1:51:04[SPEAKER_00]: Don't play the season if if those if you can't play 100 whatever games, then it's not a valid championship, then why bother playing any of it?
- 1:51:16[SPEAKER_01]: Valid, Valid thought.
- 1:51:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think it would have been fair to call it something else than the world series.
- 1:51:24[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 1:51:26[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't the same.
- 1:51:28[SPEAKER_01]: It was different.
- 1:51:29[SPEAKER_01]: It was just fine.
- 1:51:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's fine.
- 1:51:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's not the same.
- 1:51:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's just not the same.
- 1:51:35[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, but like when did they start playing 162 games in 19.
- 1:51:43[SPEAKER_01]: 58.
- 1:51:44[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so all the world series before then we're not, now they haven't played 154 games support.
- 1:51:50[SPEAKER_01]: This is the whole Roger Maris thing.
- 1:51:52[SPEAKER_01]: Roger Maris hit 61 home runs in the 162 game season and a lot of people were saying gave it an asterisk which had officially in the record books because it was a 162 game season and Bay Ruth did it in a 154 game season even though
- 1:52:13[SPEAKER_00]: I just know that if the Cubs had won, you know, do you know the world series you would have caught games?
- 1:52:19[SPEAKER_00]: You would have called it a legitimate world series title if the Cubs had won it.
- 1:52:23[SPEAKER_00]: I would have called it a legitimate world series title if the Cubs had won it.
- 1:52:26[SPEAKER_00]: If you see it gone on to win the national title in 2020 for the 2020 season, we would have called it an absolutely legitimate title even though.
- 1:52:35[SPEAKER_01]: And it would have been a dumb homer take.
- 1:52:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what those to tell you.
- 1:52:42[SPEAKER_00]: Do we call Alabama's title that season?
- 1:52:45[SPEAKER_00]: It was Alabama in 2020, right?
- 1:52:46[SPEAKER_00]: Do we call that a Mickey Mouse?
- 1:52:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's not Mickey Mouse in the same way, but it's also not the same full blooded thing.
- 1:52:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think the college football season was so weird because everyone played a different amount of games.
- 1:52:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and teams had, you know, had games canceled and certain games you were playing teams that were rocked by the, by COVID and only had so many players.
- 1:53:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we got this.
- 1:53:08[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, but like, they had to see this way about science and people's health.
- 1:53:12[SPEAKER_00]: The way that the baseball season went about was more stable and in place than anything that we saw in college football that season.
- 1:53:24[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they didn't know they were playing the season.
- 1:53:26[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's, I, I, all I'm saying is, if the brewers had won that, if it don't, maybe not the brewers, if the raise had won that world series, you would not spend this amount of time arguing with me about it, right?
- 1:53:46[SPEAKER_01]: Because I don't care about the race, because it's because the doctors, it would still be
- 1:53:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Brian, the chance is most of them is not a national championship so I'm making a mouse on 78, for instance.
- 1:53:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean 78, prime example, but also like, I think there's a difference in color triple because like, the whole thing about color triple is like,
- 1:54:07[SPEAKER_01]: Calling people's championships, Mickey Mouse is just what we do.
- 1:54:11[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even do what's called ripple fail.
- 1:54:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying.
- 1:54:14[SPEAKER_01]: We make fun of Auburn being like, we're going to claim this national championship.
- 1:54:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's like in soccer how nobody cares about the car about a couple in or unless you're the one that lifts the trophy.
- 1:54:23[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody cares about the FA Cup unless you're the one that lifts the trophy.
- 1:54:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like no one would have cared about the stupid 2020 world series unless you want it.
- 1:54:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:54:33[SPEAKER_00]: So that's fine.
- 1:54:36[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't steal the caramel cup of worlds here.
- 1:54:39[SPEAKER_00]: I would, I would still be celebrating the 2020 World Series of the Angels had won it.
- 1:54:43[SPEAKER_00]: It would have felt like the Angels didn't, yes, completely waste to generational players.
- 1:54:48[SPEAKER_01]: Hold on, I agree.
- 1:54:51[SPEAKER_01]: Now imagine a world in which the Angels who haven't made the playoffs in 15 years or whatever it is, it's just 2013, 2013 or 14, never this.
- 1:55:06[SPEAKER_01]: they make the playoffs.
- 1:55:08[SPEAKER_01]: And they win that world series and they never do anything else.
- 1:55:11[SPEAKER_01]: It would still be funny and it would like show that like how batshit it was that this team could win a world series in the 60 games.
- 1:55:19[SPEAKER_01]: See like that.
- 1:55:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that they still were in itself.
- 1:55:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it would be art and it would be you would be a metaphor for how meaningless it actually would be funny, but it would still be a legitimate world series.
- 1:55:34[SPEAKER_00]: in name only unsufferable hey we can sit here and say that you know the any world series before the creation shouldn't count I mean I'm I'm you win the league under the circumstances that the league is under it's a championship like I'm just not in the business of you
- 1:56:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I agree, but also usually that's the usually that changes because, oh well, in 1912, yeah, they were playing with this team had to play with shorts because what do you call it?
- 1:56:20[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't get funding from the
- 1:56:22[SPEAKER_01]: from the chancellor of the whatever at the time, like, you know what I mean?
- 1:56:26[SPEAKER_01]: Well, like, it's different when it's 2020.
- 1:56:29[SPEAKER_00]: U.S.C.
- 1:56:30[SPEAKER_00]: Howard Jones championships, those teams were gotten rocked by teams that appeared even 20 years after after these.
- 1:56:39[SPEAKER_00]: Well, it's like the game's changed.
- 1:56:41[SPEAKER_00]: Leave a change, all that kind of stuff.
- 1:56:43[SPEAKER_00]: We don't, we don't say that like U.S.C.s.
- 1:56:45[SPEAKER_00]: Well, this is the argument I don't.
- 1:56:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's from those times weren't legitimate.
- 1:56:49[SPEAKER_01]: Well, this is the thing that like soccer fans.
- 1:56:51[SPEAKER_01]: getting the discussion of like, uh, oh, well, what did the football not exist before 1992 when the Premier League came in it?
- 1:57:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:57:01[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, I understand how ridiculous that argument is, but also, are you genuinely telling me that a championship from 1952, when they were playing with
- 1:57:23[SPEAKER_00]: are as impressive in a grand scheme of things as once one today under today's standards no but i'm not saying that the that the Dodgers world series in 2020 was the most impressive dot world series when of a generation i'm just saying it was a legitimate world series
- 1:57:45[SPEAKER_00]: I will say the Dodgers world series are not impressive in the slightest to me.
- 1:57:51[SPEAKER_00]: You should be winning a world series with this roster.
- 1:57:54[SPEAKER_00]: In fact, it's kind of embarrassing.
- 1:57:56[SPEAKER_00]: It was so hard for you to win the world series the last two times.
- 1:58:00[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 1:58:02[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, that's not where I'm arguing.
- 1:58:05[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying they got the banner.
- 1:58:07[SPEAKER_00]: They got the ring.
- 1:58:08[SPEAKER_00]: It's theirs.
- 1:58:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:58:15[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, the angels, of course, as we just ran balloon and people are going to be tuning out left and right for this.
- 1:58:24[SPEAKER_01]: We love it to our episode.
- 1:58:25[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 1:58:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying to find a good example of this.
- 1:58:29[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, there isn't one that just jumps off the page here.
- 1:58:35[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe the angels through 60 games haven't actually been as good as I thought they could be.
- 1:58:40[SPEAKER_00]: No, the angels have just been bad, Michael.
- 1:58:43[SPEAKER_00]: Like it's not, it's not like, oh, they're so good.
- 1:58:45[SPEAKER_00]: The first one here and they were good for a game, right?
- 1:58:49[SPEAKER_00]: They're good for the first 30 days, Michael.
- 1:58:51[SPEAKER_00]: They are good for the first month occasionally, or the second month that you've been never games is the bridge too far.
- 1:58:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 1:58:57[SPEAKER_00]: They have like 30 games series, like let's say like a 20 games stretch where they're really good.
- 1:59:02[SPEAKER_00]: They look like they're going to be amazing.
- 1:59:04[SPEAKER_00]: And then they have a 20 games stretch where they look at the worst team in the universe.
- 1:59:08[SPEAKER_01]: And they never have a 40 games stretch that's actually decent.
- 1:59:19[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, maybe the argument I'm trying to make doesn't definitely work for the angels, but like people listening get it.
- 1:59:25[SPEAKER_00]: No, like there's like metteams that have been, you know, the metteer are prime exam.
- 1:59:30[SPEAKER_00]: This year, the metteer, if you cut it off at 60 games, I want to say that they're like the one seed or something.
- 1:59:37[SPEAKER_00]: Or is it last year?
- 1:59:38[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 1:59:38[SPEAKER_00]: One of these years, like the metteer, the best team in baseball through the first half and then fall off a cliff or whatever.
- 1:59:43[SPEAKER_01]: But let's look at the metteer, 60 games.
- 1:59:47[SPEAKER_01]: They are 38 and 22 and they're up first place in the NLE by game and a half there you go Yeah, anyways There was there was a comment earlier about why From the mean I have you ever met any other cubs slash U.S.E.
- 2:00:08[SPEAKER_01]: fans You're the only one I've ever met I grew up and live in South Bend so that's where my cubs fan didn't go It's um I know we're not alone
- 2:00:21[SPEAKER_01]: I can't think of any of the off-to-do.
- 2:00:24[SPEAKER_01]: I tend to call it the Mark Prior Club, so there's definitely at least 22 of us, right?
- 2:00:31[SPEAKER_01]: Jack Jones?
- 2:00:34[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Michael is a, is a, is a, is a, is a Cub's fans.
- 2:00:40[SPEAKER_00]: Michael is a Cub's fan because of WDN.
- 2:00:41[SPEAKER_00]: I know, there's got to be other WDN Cub's fans in Los Angeles who happen to be US, so.
- 2:00:47[SPEAKER_01]: No, 100%.
- 2:00:48[SPEAKER_01]: I bet those exist, but there are a lot of Cub's fans in LA.
- 2:00:51[SPEAKER_01]: 100%.
- 2:00:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:00:53[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't know.
- 2:00:54[SPEAKER_01]: LA also has a bunch of trends to be fair.
- 2:00:56[SPEAKER_01]: But also, there's Cubans all over the country because of WGN.
- 2:01:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a Cub's fan because I watched the Cub's everyday on TV.
- 2:01:04[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't watch the Dodgers everyday on TV because they weren't on TV when I came home from school.
- 2:01:10[SPEAKER_01]: that cops were and that's it makes it that easy for mine you still two emails to get okay sorry uh... all right here we go it 55 uh... i guess s c was was uh... due to one of these coin flip games uh... i feel a problem uh... the team showed up flat dropped every ball possible and attempted to set a record for the most uh...
- 2:01:33[SPEAKER_01]: penalties in the state of Nebraska.
- 2:01:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad that with a little luck, we won't have to get a new coach until November, L. M. 55.
- 2:01:40[SPEAKER_01]: You and I have talked about this.
- 2:01:41[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you've really talked about in the pod about like this coaching carousel is going to be
- 2:01:49[SPEAKER_01]: Monumental.
- 2:01:50[SPEAKER_01]: I always think of what I was a kid everyone talked about the MBA for agency class of 2010 and Like you people talked about that in like 2006 people were like looking forward to this and then like that was gonna be a big deal like this coaching Carousel feels like it could be that impactful because of The jobs that are gonna be open that are either blue bloods or at least blue blood adjacent Florida
- 2:02:19[SPEAKER_01]: LSU, Penn State's, you know, Oklahoma State is open, Auburn is open, Florida State should probably be open, right?
- 2:02:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think it does raise the question, independent of everything else, and completely independent of how you feel about Lincoln Riley, too, like just for my cycle, philosophical perspective.
- 2:02:44[SPEAKER_01]: I asked this question, and I genuinely don't know the answer.
- 2:02:50[SPEAKER_01]: If you are an AD, just all the happening around the country, make you want to get in, put your hat in the ring to find a new coach more or less, and I think you can make the op the argument each way.
- 2:03:06[SPEAKER_00]: I, if I'm an AD, I do not want my hat in the ring unless I, there is a specific coach that I want, and I know that I can get through backhandily.
- 2:03:15[SPEAKER_00]: So like for instance, I don't want in on this cycle unless I want some role from, from Tulane.
- 2:03:21[SPEAKER_00]: Or I don't want in on this cycle unless I want, you know, you're really invested in getting Lane Kiffin or you're really invested in getting Jeff Brommer or I don't think Clark Lee is going anywhere but like one of the, you know, like if there's a guy who is interested who I am obsessed with, I want in.
- 2:03:40[SPEAKER_00]: If I don't have...
- 2:03:42[SPEAKER_00]: a person who I am obsessed with that I want to bring in.
- 2:03:45[SPEAKER_00]: There's no way I get it on this because it's not good.
- 2:03:50[SPEAKER_01]: So you want to Rick Red to Rhea your coach if you're in a AD?
- 2:03:54[SPEAKER_00]: Is that knowing who my coach is before I fire my old one?
- 2:03:57[SPEAKER_01]: No, that Rick Red to Rhea was the manager of the 2014 Cubs.
- 2:04:02[SPEAKER_01]: And he wasn't great.
- 2:04:04[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing memorable and anything.
- 2:04:07[SPEAKER_01]: They've get rid of him solely because they know that they can get Joe Madden.
- 2:04:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, not because like it's like Rick Rintereed like needed to be kept on or it was like they get rid of him solely because of Joe man's availability right if you think that James Franklin
- 2:04:33[SPEAKER_00]: is built to when at your school.
- 2:04:36[SPEAKER_00]: If you are convinced 100% everything that tells you your gut, the data, everything like that.
- 2:04:43[SPEAKER_00]: If James Franklin is your guy, then you get in and you get James Franklin.
- 2:04:47[SPEAKER_00]: But short of that, the problem with this cycle is,
- 2:04:51[SPEAKER_00]: Love him, but if Lane Kiffin is far in a way, them only home run higher in this cycle, it's a shitty cycle.
- 2:04:58[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't want anything to do with this cycle.
- 2:05:01[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to have to be, you know,
- 2:05:05[SPEAKER_00]: rolling the dice the way that most of these programs are going to have to be rolling the dice, especially for the money that it takes to to to roll that particular dice.
- 2:05:15[SPEAKER_00]: Like some of them had to do it Oklahoma State with Mike Gundy not sustainable, but like LSU choosing to get into this
- 2:05:25[SPEAKER_00]: Florida was going to have to LSU chose to like, the chances of them actually hitting in this is, I don't like the odds.
- 2:05:36[SPEAKER_00]: The odds are already bad enough with code.
- 2:05:38[SPEAKER_00]: I've done like the odds here.
- 2:05:39[SPEAKER_01]: There's not enough good coaches and college football, right?
- 2:05:44[SPEAKER_01]: I tend to think that's
- 2:05:47[SPEAKER_01]: Lane Kiffin genuinely and I didn't think I'd think about I think this way two years ago I didn't definitely didn't think I'd think this five years ago or 10 years ago But genuinely as it stands right now if you told me Who which head coach has not won a national title now?
- 2:06:09[SPEAKER_01]: But I had to guess in the next 15 years would have one or multiple national titles
- 2:06:18[SPEAKER_01]: Lane Kiffin to me is the guy with the best odds and I don't think it's close.
- 2:06:24[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Dan Landing, I guess.
- 2:06:26[SPEAKER_01]: Those two.
- 2:06:28[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think there's anybody else that I feel that confident in.
- 2:06:32[SPEAKER_01]: And so if you know, you can get Lane Kiffin.
- 2:06:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think you can be a little more ruthless, but you got to get that right because if you
- 2:06:48[SPEAKER_01]: And instead you end up with for lack of a better way to to put with Mike Riley at Nebraska.
- 2:06:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, then that sucks.
- 2:07:01[SPEAKER_00]: My way to is I don't think that and I could be completely wrong on this.
- 2:07:05[SPEAKER_00]: Lane Kiffin could already have the skeleton of a new contract in place to go to one of these schools.
- 2:07:11[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think any of these schools have Lane Kiffin blocked.
- 2:07:15[SPEAKER_00]: And if that's the case.
- 2:07:20[SPEAKER_00]: You know, somebody's somebody's coming home disappointed.
- 2:07:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, 100%.
- 2:07:25[SPEAKER_00]: I do I do I do wonder now granite Here's my hot take whoever gets Lane Kiffin the ones that don't like have just as much of a chance of You know hitting big is like if because of how much of a crap shoot everything is Lord, I get slain kiffin and LSU has to settle for some or all like I think LSU might be in a better position Just on the strength of like you know
- 2:07:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I guess... What?
- 2:07:54[SPEAKER_01]: One of the things I think about it night is I'm trying to sleep two things one I Since I'm a designer.
- 2:08:01[SPEAKER_01]: I I think of like I solve my design problems while I'm laying in bed trying to sleep Okay, how can I put okay, so I need to do this thing?
- 2:08:09[SPEAKER_01]: I need to arrange it in a way with the photo here in the text there like how would I do that and like I do all these things and then For somehow I remember it the next day and I'm able to do it, but anyways the other thing I think about is If Lane Kiffin
- 2:08:25[SPEAKER_01]: had any job.
- 2:08:27[SPEAKER_01]: If they were all open, it's a video game and he can pick any job he take.
- 2:08:31[SPEAKER_01]: Who would he take?
- 2:08:33[SPEAKER_01]: Because I think there was a very, very, very good chance that SC is extremely high on that list to the point where I would wonder if SC is ahead of LSU.
- 2:08:50[SPEAKER_00]: If I, here's what I know, my sense of link to that is that you L, USC might be it over LSU simply because Lane Kiffin feels like the kind of person to me who's a little bit petty and like there's a petty, petty could go, but I think he should be more likely to come back.
- 2:09:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, exactly.
- 2:09:09[SPEAKER_00]: There's petty in that he would never come back to USC because if USC, but I think he's petty in the sense of like, I'm going to go back to USC, I'm going to prove to petty.
- 2:09:21[SPEAKER_00]: you know what I mean like I don't think that Lane Kiffin is a sure higher for anybody but I will say if USC if Lane Kiffin was interested in coming back to USC I would sign me up for him you know yesterday yeah but basically I think that like SC's chances on Lane Kiffin this is obviously two reductionists whatever but like the chances are 100% or zero yeah you
- 2:09:49[SPEAKER_01]: Not literally, but you know what I mean?
- 2:09:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like either he absolutely would want to come back and everything or he Absolutely would not you know what I mean like it's one or the other yes kind of thing We're like you see either top of his list or yeah not on his list I don't think USC is the best job in college football I think it might be the job that he wants the most The college football you know what I mean?
- 2:10:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's that's that like
- 2:10:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I'm firmly on the U.S.
- 2:10:15[SPEAKER_00]: He's next head coach.
- 2:10:17[SPEAKER_00]: Please give me a defense-minded head coach.
- 2:10:18[SPEAKER_00]: But I think the lane-kiff and ride would be funny enough that I will make an exception.
- 2:10:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:10:27[SPEAKER_01]: Nick and the chat says that, you know, they did him dirty.
- 2:10:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:10:29[SPEAKER_01]: They did.
- 2:10:30[SPEAKER_01]: There's no reason in which he should be willing.
- 2:10:37[SPEAKER_01]: But I think I think he could.
- 2:10:38[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Pat Hayden did him dirty and Pat Hayden is not at U.S.
- 2:10:40[SPEAKER_01]: He's not at U.S.
- 2:10:42[SPEAKER_01]: And Osirone is still talked about positive stuff about SC, even though
- 2:10:47[SPEAKER_01]: And those are on things that he was done extremely dirty.
- 2:10:50[SPEAKER_01]: What you wasn't, you know what I mean?
- 2:10:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like, Lane Kiffin was done dirty.
- 2:10:54[SPEAKER_00]: Ed Orgeron was not, you know.
- 2:10:56[SPEAKER_00]: It might be also, my heart take, I have to take those back.
- 2:11:00[SPEAKER_00]: If they don't fire Lane Kiffin, then I think USC still goes on to win as many games as they do in that 2013, in that 2013 season.
- 2:11:09[SPEAKER_00]: And Lane Kiffin, six around for several more years,
- 2:11:15[SPEAKER_00]: is still the head coach USC that's been a long time, but, you know, I mean, I would argue though he needed to get, you needed to get it.
- 2:11:21[SPEAKER_00]: He needed to fail and go work for it.
- 2:11:24[SPEAKER_01]: He needed to fail and build himself up and his career arc has been really redeeming for him.
- 2:11:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 2:11:32[SPEAKER_00]: Ryan's a, Kippin's daughter attends USC is, is she still at USC or, I know that he had a kid at USC at all.
- 2:11:40[SPEAKER_00]: There's still, I think there's one of them that goes
- 2:11:45[SPEAKER_01]: I don't, I don't know if there's multiple, I, I, I'm, I'm not up on these things.
- 2:11:50[SPEAKER_00]: If Wikipedia doesn't have information on this, we won't find any of it, but let's see.
- 2:11:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:11:57[SPEAKER_01]: Um, Mr. P says Coach O was still done dirty.
- 2:12:00[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, more so that, like, I think Coach O can think that he was done dirty.
- 2:12:06[SPEAKER_01]: My uncle, who's a staunch S, you see a lay fan thinks that Coach O was done dirty.
- 2:12:11[SPEAKER_01]: I just think what was done to Cocho was way more valid than anything else.
- 2:12:16[SPEAKER_00]: Also, like, Coach Joe was only done dirty because they ended up hiring Clay Hilton when they shouldn't have, like, if USC had been consistent and not hired the interim that they shouldn't have, then it would be perfectly fine.
- 2:12:28[SPEAKER_00]: But USC went and hired the interim that they shouldn't have after not hiring the interim that they shouldn't have.
- 2:12:33[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, in that sense, yeah, Coach, he says he just promised the job if he won the, uh, if he won the game.
- 2:12:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he did win that game.
- 2:12:41[SPEAKER_00]: He did win that game.
- 2:12:42[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, don't lose CCLA if you want the USC up.
- 2:12:44[SPEAKER_00]: That's all I'm saying.
- 2:12:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think if you're an interim, and to get an interim job, you'd basically need to be perfect.
- 2:12:52[SPEAKER_00]: You need to go be- You certainly can't lose to the rival, the way that USC lost that game.
- 2:12:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's not just- And nor help and did enough to get hired as interims.
- 2:13:04[SPEAKER_01]: Neither one did.
- 2:13:05[SPEAKER_00]: Hold on, pressly, Kithin.
- 2:13:07[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Tim's first on a FNN is a freshman at USC.
- 2:13:10[SPEAKER_00]: She plays for the volleyball team.
- 2:13:12[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, well there you go.
- 2:13:14[SPEAKER_00]: Wait, she went to Notre Dame?
- 2:13:17[SPEAKER_00]: I guess she went to Notre Dame in modern day.
- 2:13:19[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, I wonder which in which order.
- 2:13:21[SPEAKER_00]: It sounds like she went.
- 2:13:23[SPEAKER_00]: It sounds like she went to Notre Dame for like a year and then ended up in part of the day.
- 2:13:26[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 2:13:31[SPEAKER_01]: I was speaking to Ozoran.
- 2:13:32[SPEAKER_01]: I saw it.
- 2:13:33[SPEAKER_01]: There's a bomani tiktok where bomani was like, if I'm else you, I just write the ship.
- 2:13:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I just like, they need someone who knows at least you again.
- 2:13:43[SPEAKER_01]: Just go out and get loads around.
- 2:13:45[SPEAKER_01]: Even if you say it's only for like two or three years, just go out.
- 2:13:48[SPEAKER_01]: Eh?
- 2:13:49[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 2:13:49[SPEAKER_01]: And people's mind broken that much with the Brian Kelly thing.
- 2:13:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 2:13:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, their minds are that broken and I like there's people in the comments that like yeah They never should have gotten rid of him.
- 2:14:02[SPEAKER_01]: Why they get rid of him?
- 2:14:03[SPEAKER_01]: They know he wanted an actual title there and then you get to other people who like did you not see what LSU was in 2018 2020 or 2021 like
- 2:14:16[SPEAKER_01]: Did you not read all the off the field stuff all in him covering up sexual assault and all that stuff?
- 2:14:23[SPEAKER_00]: LSU fans are just cheered Brian Kelly who had won ten ten and nine games in the in his previous three seasons at LSU cheering him getting fired when when Edward runs last three years at LSU were if you want and those around just because he's going to say tigers
- 2:14:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 2:14:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like you got to re-evaluate your stance on winning games and all that kind of stuff.
- 2:14:54[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 2:14:55[SPEAKER_01]: I genuinely have become someone who is very anti-hiring the alum.
- 2:15:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 2:15:03[SPEAKER_01]: Strictly because like it's like never works out.
- 2:15:07[SPEAKER_01]: It really doesn't.
- 2:15:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'm, and he's the, he's the, he's the, yeah, I'm a big, like, don't meet your heroes kind of thing when it comes to hiring coaches like I would prefer like this is why it's this is why I was happy that Liverpool didn't hire Didn't end up hiring Steven Gerard why I was low key not mad that that Chabi Alonzo didn't take the Liverpool job because it's like I don't want your legacy to get messed up.
- 2:15:37[SPEAKER_01]: You don't want to chop you at Barcelona situation.
- 2:15:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 2:15:40[SPEAKER_01]: You don't want to scot Frost in the Braskas situation.
- 2:15:43[SPEAKER_00]: A Lampard situation.
- 2:15:45[SPEAKER_01]: To be fair, Chelsea fans still love Lampard.
- 2:15:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 2:15:49[SPEAKER_01]: He could f up to the end of time and people will still sing super frank.
- 2:15:54[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 2:15:54[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I don't know.
- 2:15:55[SPEAKER_00]: Having a good song makes up for a lot of things.
- 2:16:00[SPEAKER_00]: Having a good song makes it much harder to dislike a person.
- 2:16:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 2:16:06[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 2:16:07[SPEAKER_01]: Last email, this is from Mike Michael, I only see it on your last episode before the Nebraska game I could barely hear Badger barking from another room.
- 2:16:16[SPEAKER_01]: I could just barely make out a win some Michael's face.
- 2:16:20[SPEAKER_01]: FYI, I occasionally refer to my dog as Georgina Tirebire.
- 2:16:26[SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
- 2:16:27[SPEAKER_01]: Because she's a Trojan fan, sea attached photo and because her stinky dog breath smells like the inside of a tire.
- 2:16:36[SPEAKER_01]: King in there with your puppy badger and park on Sylvie's dad, Mike in Bellevue, Washington.
- 2:16:42[SPEAKER_01]: Alicia, I'm going to vanish for a second and let's look at Sylvie.
- 2:16:46[SPEAKER_00]: Little, little Sylvie.
- 2:16:48[SPEAKER_00]: There she is.
- 2:16:48[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to guess Sylvie's like a beach on frisay or some variant thereof, very cute with her little USC shirt jersey, whatever we're calling it.
- 2:17:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's a good dog.
- 2:17:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's a good dog.
- 2:17:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's a good dog.
- 2:17:05[SPEAKER_01]: Just he has one of those badger had.
- 2:17:09[SPEAKER_00]: Badger has.
- 2:17:09[SPEAKER_00]: He is very swiftly grown out of it.
- 2:17:13[SPEAKER_00]: Back when we didn't think that Badger was going to be a 65 pound dog.
- 2:17:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:17:19[SPEAKER_01]: He's, you tell me, he's only 40 pounds, right?
- 2:17:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's a 40 pound dog.
- 2:17:24[SPEAKER_01]: He's only 40 pounds, you know.
- 2:17:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 2:17:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, uh, not a great day from Badger, but he's quite now, which is good.
- 2:17:36[SPEAKER_01]: I thought we were going to be good today.
- 2:17:38[SPEAKER_01]: I thought we were going to be good too.
- 2:17:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm, and, and, and Mike, I'm trying not to win.
- 2:17:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm trying not to win.
- 2:17:44[SPEAKER_01]: I really had, trying my best.
- 2:17:46[SPEAKER_01]: I just, every time there's a bark in my mind, I imagine eight people turning the pot off with every bark.
- 2:17:57[SPEAKER_01]: ten barks that's eighty people yeah that's that's what i it's what i imagine um all right we've gone two and a half hours we could be should really set up so it is dark is midnight outside already you know all right world's dark i don't do dark walk that was gonna say you're gonna real fun time taking the dogs out no it's all you it's dark and i'm scared of the dark yeah
- 2:18:21[SPEAKER_00]: This is why you got to start taking them out earlier.
- 2:18:23[SPEAKER_00]: Apparently because it's pitch black at five o'clock.
- 2:18:26[SPEAKER_00]: Three o'clock change.
- 2:18:27[SPEAKER_00]: Eight and a time change.
- 2:18:29[SPEAKER_01]: All right, all the back.
- 2:18:31[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, tomorrow.
- 2:18:32[SPEAKER_01]: Literally tomorrow to preview USC and Nebraska.
- 2:18:35[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, until then, we will see you.
- 2:18:38[SPEAKER_01]: So preview USC and Northwestern.
- 2:18:41[SPEAKER_01]: Wrong and yes.
- 2:18:43[SPEAKER_01]: Hey.
- 2:18:46[SPEAKER_01]: Northwestern actually use NU.
- 2:18:49[SPEAKER_01]: Northwestern University.
- 2:18:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, Nebraska famously not in you the University of Nebraska.
- 2:18:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, right the end on the on the Northwestern helmet does not stand for knowledge I always have that joke was done.
- 2:19:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's silly.
- 2:19:08[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know make me kickholder.
- 2:19:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that it like Nebraska fans are so nice and friendly and great like I
- 2:19:18[SPEAKER_01]: If anything, just tease them about their first name, the bug-eaters.
- 2:19:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's funnier and like, harmless.
- 2:19:24[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
- 2:19:28[UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
- 2:19:28[SPEAKER_01]: Alright, see ya.
- 2:19:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 2:19:29[SPEAKER_01]: See ya.
