A deadly head-on crash in Merced County left one elderly woman dead and another seriously injured after a drunk driver fled the scene—only to be found hiding in an orchard. The 33-year-old Audi driver, Jose Perez Hernandez, was charged with felony DUI and hit-and-run for allegedly speeding and crossing into oncoming traffic.
