- 0:06Speaker 1: Hey everybody, this is Anthony Michael Hall, and you're listening
- 0:08Speaker 1: to my friends Brian J. and Misty on Movie Meltdown.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Don't touch that dial.
- 0:18Speaker 3: This episode is rated M for Misty. Yes, that's right,
- 0:22Speaker 3: this is a Misty episode, so it will be laced
- 0:24Speaker 3: with profanity even more than usual. If you're not comfortable
- 0:27Speaker 3: with this level of profanity, perhaps this isn't the episode
- 0:30Speaker 3: for you. But we have many other episodes to choose
- 0:32Speaker 3: from that do not feature Misty, and will probably be
- 0:35Speaker 3: far less offensive. Okay, maybe. That having been said, on
- 0:39Speaker 3: with the show.
- 0:40Speaker 1: It's showtime.
- 0:41Speaker 4: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:12Speaker 2: What's up, and.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
- 1:28Speaker 5: I'm Misty.
- 1:29Speaker 6: And I'm Jay.
- 1:31Speaker 1: And we're coming to you live via digital recording from
- 1:33Speaker 1: the bastion of awesomeness.
- 1:34Speaker 5: My kitchen.
- 1:35Speaker 6: No internet signal.
- 1:38Speaker 5: It's messy in here.
- 1:39Speaker 1: We don't need internet.
- 1:40Speaker 5: Where we're going, we don't need internet.
- 1:42Speaker 1: We're beaming it out to them. They all need internet.
- 1:47Speaker 5: You need internet to get that out to them.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Eventually, sure. Internets are kind of handy.
- 1:53Speaker 5: They are.
- 1:55Speaker 1: So, it's been a little while. Usually we've got the break.
- 2:01Speaker 1: We have to plan ahead when Miss Deason is involved
- 2:04Speaker 1: because she's like I'm ready to kill everybody.
- 2:08Speaker 5: During a certain time of the year. Due to my employment,
- 2:12Speaker 5: I hate everybody and everything that exists. Cheery. So I
- 2:17Speaker 5: try to not interact with people as much as possible
- 2:19Speaker 5: for at least a month and a half span.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Thus, I planned ahead and I try to remember to
- 2:24Speaker 1: map out the whole schedule and be like block off
- 2:28Speaker 1: the December month for Misty.
- 2:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm just out.
- 2:32Speaker 1: But that usually means now we've got this somewhat normal
- 2:36Speaker 1: tradition of, you know, right there at the first of
- 2:38Speaker 1: the year.
- 2:39Speaker 5: Flea market time.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I was going to say you're back on the show,
- 2:45Speaker 1: but I mean, really, you were way more excited to
- 2:48Speaker 1: go to the flea market.
- 2:49Speaker 5: Dude, I was so excited. I've been waiting for like,
- 2:50Speaker 5: you don't even know how long for flea market time.
- 2:53Speaker 1: This is the good flea market, not a lame flea market.
- 2:55Speaker 5: I love flea markets in general, but this one's super
- 2:57Speaker 5: awesome because it's the big one at the fairgrounds and
- 2:59Speaker 5: they have so much crap and I.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Get so excited.
- 3:01Speaker 1: And they have old stuff. Old stuff. New, regular, standard
- 3:07Speaker 1: things that fall into a flea market are usually really lame.
- 3:10Speaker 1: But the old stuff is cool, and that's what I'm
- 3:12Speaker 1: usually looking for.
- 3:14Speaker 5: But yeah, I'm back.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Back in action. At least.
- 3:18Speaker 5: You waited until the day you knew I'd be in
- 3:19Speaker 5: a good mood, because you know I'm excited on the
- 3:20Speaker 5: flea market day, so you know there's no, like, down misty.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I feel like it's in everyone's best interest.
- 3:26Speaker 5: It truly is.
- 3:27Speaker 1: It won't destroy the world.
- 3:30Speaker 5: Not today, anyways.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Not today.
- 3:31Speaker 5: I'll save it for tomorrow. All right. Actually, no, I'll
- 3:33Speaker 5: save it for like a couple days because I'm off
- 3:35Speaker 5: for like four days in a row. What the fuck?
- 3:37Speaker 5: So I'm ready to.
- 3:38Speaker 1: One more reason you should be pretty chipper.
- 3:41Speaker 5: As chipper as I get.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Pretty much.
- 3:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:44Speaker 1: So in these times that you've been away, what have
- 3:48Speaker 1: you been up to?
- 3:49Speaker 5: Should we finish this thing we actually completely watched or
- 3:51Speaker 5: should I start with something we've been partially watching?
- 3:53Speaker 6: What did we completely watch?
- 3:54Speaker 5: We watched Channel Zero, the no wind house.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 3:58Speaker 6: That's a long time ago.
- 3:59Speaker 1: We did, didn't we?
- 4:00Speaker 5: I should probably make sure that's the end of it
- 4:01Speaker 5: before I totally try to sell it. I'm pretty sure
- 4:04Speaker 5: it's the no end house. Click on the Wikipedia real quick.
- 4:06Speaker 5: Cause I, I want to do this one very, yeah,
- 4:10Speaker 5: the no end house. I went into it very like,
- 4:14Speaker 5: cause I really hated the first season.
- 4:15Speaker 1: I was going to say, we sort of brought this
- 4:17Speaker 1: up a couple of different times cause someone else mentioned
- 4:21Speaker 1: one or both of the seasons previously. So as a
- 4:23Speaker 1: reminder and half to me, where is this available? Is
- 4:28Speaker 1: it just internet based or is it on a network?
- 4:30Speaker 5: It's on Syfy. The Siffy.
- 4:32Speaker 1: That's sort of a network.
- 4:33Speaker 5: The Siffy channel.
- 4:34Speaker 1: As close as a sort of a network as you
- 4:37Speaker 1: can get.
- 4:38Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 4:39Speaker 5: But the first season I detested. Because it's all based
- 4:43Speaker 5: on creepypasta things. So the first one was called Candle Cove.
- 4:47Speaker 5: Which I like the idea. But they stretched it out
- 4:51Speaker 5: into way too many fucking episodes. This was like maybe
- 4:56Speaker 5: an hour long story at the top. You don't need
- 5:00Speaker 5: to stretch it into like six episodes. It was painful.
- 5:04Speaker 5: It didn't have enough substance to last six episodes. The
- 5:07Speaker 5: new season, The No Wind House, was fucking amazing. We
- 5:13Speaker 5: watched it, was it one night we sat and watched it?
- 5:15Speaker 5: One night or two nights. The entire season. It's one
- 5:20Speaker 5: of those I'm like, I can't go to bed now.
- 5:22Speaker 5: I can't go to bed now. I have to know
- 5:24Speaker 5: what happens next. I have to know what's going on.
- 5:27Speaker 5: And it was just, it was, it was one of
- 5:29Speaker 5: those that kept my attention the entire time. And it
- 5:31Speaker 5: was just, I loved it. And had one of your
- 5:33Speaker 5: buddies on there. Who's name I can't remember right now.
- 5:38Speaker 5: We've been on the episode. Okay. Three names. Pretty sure
- 5:41Speaker 5: it's a three name guy.
- 5:43Speaker 7: Bald.
- 5:44Speaker 5: Come on, you know it.
- 5:46Speaker 1: What else is this person in?
- 5:49Speaker 5: He's twisty in American Horror Story.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Which I also haven't watched.
- 5:55Speaker 5: I watched it, but I didn't care. Hold on.
- 5:58Speaker 7: You know.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Michael Glazer?
- 6:00Speaker 5: No, not that guy. He's not.
- 6:01Speaker 1: He does have three names.
- 6:02Speaker 5: He's not bald. Thank you very much.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Not that we know of.
- 6:05Speaker 5: No.
- 6:06Speaker 1: If so, he had a very.
- 6:07Speaker 5: John Carroll Lynch. Oh, yeah.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I do know that guy.
- 6:10Speaker 5: He's your buddy. He's your pal.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I just hung out with him recently.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Sure.
- 6:13Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying. He's in the season.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:16Speaker 5: And it's just, it's one of those, it's like, you
- 6:18Speaker 5: can kind of like, you're like, all right, I kind
- 6:19Speaker 5: of know where this is going. And then you're like, hey,
- 6:22Speaker 5: it's kind of sort of going. And then you're like, whoa,
- 6:24Speaker 5: what the hell just happened? But it's, the story was like,
- 6:27Speaker 5: it's a haunted house.
- 6:29Speaker 8: All right.
- 6:30Speaker 5: And there's, I don't remember how, is it six rooms?
- 6:33Speaker 1: Do they know it's a haunted house?
- 6:34Speaker 5: Yeah, it's one of those, it's like, this haunted house
- 6:36Speaker 5: kind of pops up. And like, it's like, it's spread
- 6:38Speaker 5: through the, like, all the social media that, hey, this
- 6:41Speaker 5: haunted house is here. It's going to blow your goddamn minds.
- 6:44Speaker 5: So everybody gets excited and it's like, it's literally like
- 6:47Speaker 5: just pops up. And they go and.
- 6:50Speaker 1: It's supposed to be like an attraction haunted house or
- 6:52Speaker 1: this is just a creepy old house.
- 6:53Speaker 6: That we hear.
- 6:54Speaker 5: It's like a haunted house. It just shows up and
- 6:56Speaker 5: you go and you wait in line and you go
- 6:58Speaker 5: into the haunted house. And it's supposed to have like six,
- 7:02Speaker 5: I think it's six rooms, but I could be totally
- 7:04Speaker 5: making that up. And each one's supposed to be like,
- 7:07Speaker 5: you know, what your biggest fear is or whatever. And
- 7:10Speaker 5: then of course you go in as a group and
- 7:11Speaker 5: then you get separated one by one and be right
- 7:15Speaker 5: back yeah and then just when you think you know
- 7:18Speaker 5: what's going on and you're like but it's it's it
- 7:21Speaker 5: is it's really i would highly recommend the second season
- 7:25Speaker 5: so truly truly liked it like a lot you liked
- 7:30Speaker 5: it yeah i thought it was pretty good you actually
- 7:33Speaker 5: watched parts of it and you actually sat your phone
- 7:36Speaker 5: down for like several minutes at a time.
- 7:37Speaker 6: Yeah crazy i watched it for a little bit it
- 7:39Speaker 6: held my interest.
- 7:42Speaker 5: Is that your J seal of approval? It held my interest.
- 7:45Speaker 3: You know, if.
- 7:45Speaker 6: It doesn't hold my interest, then it's.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Not really worth my time.
- 7:50Speaker 6: Yeah, I got shit I gotta do. I got cat
- 7:53Speaker 6: memes I'm looking at.
- 7:55Speaker 5: Shit like that. Cat videos you wanna catch up on? Yeah,
- 7:57Speaker 5: I got my cat videos.
- 7:59Speaker 1: I've been circling more on the dog memes.
- 8:02Speaker 5: Dogs are dumb.
- 8:03Speaker 1: No, but that's my favorite part.
- 8:04Speaker 3: I like dog memes. I like dogs.
- 8:06Speaker 1: The holiday one was my favorite. It was like, thank
- 8:09Speaker 1: God you're here. the Christmas tree fainted as he's looking
- 8:13Speaker 1: at the camera and the trees on the ground behind him. Yeah.
- 8:16Speaker 8: That was my favorite one.
- 8:17Speaker 1: This holiday scene.
- 8:19Speaker 5: Good times. Um, and then we are, well, we've currently
- 8:22Speaker 5: been watching two different shows kind of off and on
- 8:25Speaker 5: by back. We've been switching back and forth.
- 8:27Speaker 6: Well, actually we finished up.
- 8:29Speaker 5: Oh, we did. Yes. What did we finish up?
- 8:31Speaker 6: We finished up stranger things.
- 8:33Speaker 5: Yes, we did.
- 8:34Speaker 6: We finally got caught up with the rest of the world.
- 8:36Speaker 5: We finally rejoined the rest of humanity.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Now you know what that little creature was that you
- 8:40Speaker 1: bought the shirt for.
- 8:41Speaker 5: I know, and I'm pretty excited. Dart was pretty awesome.
- 8:45Speaker 5: Dustin's my favorite, like seriously. And much like a good
- 8:49Speaker 5: portion of the internet, I fucking hated that one episode.
- 8:52Speaker 1: The one where she was by herself? Yeah. I was
- 8:55Speaker 1: okay with it. It's just a totally different thing. I
- 8:57Speaker 1: didn't like it. But we kind of needed to see
- 9:00Speaker 1: her do things on her own and kind of figure
- 9:02Speaker 1: out how to be a badass. I think it was necessary.
- 9:05Speaker 1: It's very different than the entire rest of that season,
- 9:08Speaker 1: but I think for her character it was kind of necessary.
- 9:10Speaker 5: I'm still not sure that I like it. I still
- 9:12Speaker 5: think I like season one better. I mean, I liked
- 9:15Speaker 5: certain aspects of the second season, but I think overall
- 9:18Speaker 5: I preferred the first season.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Again, it's like most movies and sequels. I mean, it
- 9:23Speaker 1: has a very specific... arc to that first season it's
- 9:26Speaker 1: supposed to be that way and everything falls into place
- 9:29Speaker 1: if it works right and then when you have to
- 9:31Speaker 1: come back and revisit it like it's hard to make
- 9:34Speaker 1: that perfect arc again when you're like just like streamlining
- 9:38Speaker 1: off of it into some other new area and then
- 9:40Speaker 1: it becomes really difficult because you're like well we don't
- 9:42Speaker 1: want to stray too far from what we know works
- 9:45Speaker 1: but we can't give them exactly what they did last
- 9:48Speaker 1: time or they'll complain that it's repetitive so you it's
- 9:51Speaker 1: Any of those kind of shows, but especially something that
- 9:53Speaker 1: was as specific as Stranger Things was.
- 9:56Speaker 5: The first season felt more natural, whereas the second season,
- 9:58Speaker 5: it seems like they tried to force more. like, try
- 10:00Speaker 5: to make the songs part of the thing, which it's
- 10:03Speaker 5: okay if the song's already there, but when it seems
- 10:05Speaker 5: like you're specifically like, all right, this part is specific
- 10:08Speaker 5: to this song, and I'm just like, what? But they
- 10:10Speaker 5: played it with a... the punk rocker song or something
- 10:13Speaker 5: when they, when she's off being a punk, you know,
- 10:14Speaker 5: in the city.
- 10:15Speaker 1: And I'm like, yeah, I mean, they were a little
- 10:17Speaker 1: heavy handed with their choices sometimes.
- 10:19Speaker 5: Yeah, it wasn't. It was just, it wasn't, it wasn't
- 10:20Speaker 5: as natural feeling as the first season. I did like
- 10:23Speaker 5: the second season. Cause I mean, it had more Dustin
- 10:25Speaker 5: in it and that's, it does.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:27Speaker 5: I aggravated at the end. So I'm like, why is
- 10:29Speaker 5: nobody fucking dancing with Dustin? I would have danced with us,
- 10:31Speaker 5: but then Nancy, Nancy saved the day.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Nancy's pretty cool.
- 10:34Speaker 5: I like Nancy, you know, Steve redeemed himself. He's the
- 10:38Speaker 5: best babysitter.
- 10:39Speaker 1: I mean, every season you're like, oh, it's Steve. And
- 10:42Speaker 1: then you're like, nah, Steve's alright.
- 10:43Speaker 5: Every season.
- 10:44Speaker 1: Every season of these last two, you're like, I hate Steve.
- 10:48Speaker 1: And then you're like, nah, Steve's okay.
- 10:50Speaker 5: Boyfriend has a stinking face. Were you going to say something? No.
- 10:54Speaker 5: My bad.
- 10:54Speaker 1: You're like, Steve's alright.
- 10:56Speaker 3: Totally fooled you.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I don't hate Steve.
- 10:59Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, in the beginning part of it, I
- 11:02Speaker 6: did kind of hate him.
- 11:03Speaker 9: Because he was kind of a douchebag. Mainly, I think
- 11:07Speaker 9: a majority of my hatred for him was a was
- 11:10Speaker 9: the dominoes commercials because i was like who the fuck
- 11:13Speaker 9: is this guy he's not that's not ferris bueller he
- 11:17Speaker 9: wishes he was they kept trying i was like.
- 11:19Speaker 5: He's not even parker lewis i was like are.
- 11:21Speaker 9: They trying to make him into ferris bueller are they
- 11:23Speaker 9: trying to force him to be the next ferris bueller
- 11:25Speaker 9: because it's not gonna happen you know and then i
- 11:28Speaker 9: guess maybe it just didn't go anywhere but when he
- 11:30Speaker 9: was in this one i was like oh look it's
- 11:32Speaker 9: the fake ferris.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Bueller guy i don't like that guy but yeah but.
- 11:35Speaker 9: By the time it gets to the end of it
- 11:37Speaker 9: i'm like he's not too bad He was kind of
- 11:39Speaker 9: a douchey boyfriend at first.
- 11:41Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Again, I think even he realizes, I'm probably not a
- 11:43Speaker 1: good boyfriend.
- 11:45Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I'm a good babysitter, but I'm not a good boyfriend.
- 11:47Speaker 5: And one thing, maybe you could answer the question, because
- 11:49Speaker 5: me and boyfriend couldn't figure it out. They have this whole, like,
- 11:51Speaker 5: where it sets up for Max and her boyfriend, or
- 11:53Speaker 5: not her boyfriend, her brother. Like, they're there for some
- 11:55Speaker 5: specific reason, because they have this whole thing about, you know,
- 11:58Speaker 5: you're the reason we're here. What you did. I'm like,
- 12:00Speaker 5: what did she do?
- 12:01Speaker 6: Like, it's going to be something major.
- 12:02Speaker 5: Like, it's going to be, like, they're going to work
- 12:03Speaker 5: it into part of the story plot of something happened.
- 12:06Speaker 5: But it's mostly just the parents. And I was like,
- 12:09Speaker 5: is one of them going to be one of the experiments?
- 12:11Speaker 5: Because I don't understand what they're doing, what they're going for.
- 12:14Speaker 5: Because they had this whole scene.
- 12:15Speaker 6: No, they just got a shitty family.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Yeah, or again, maybe that's where we're going to do
- 12:19Speaker 1: it because we know it's going into season three. So
- 12:21Speaker 1: it's like maybe it expands backwards and we figure out
- 12:24Speaker 1: what a little more of their backstory is.
- 12:25Speaker 5: But it never is even referenced again like later in
- 12:28Speaker 5: the season that that might even come up. It's just
- 12:29Speaker 5: that one scene and you're like.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Plant in the sea. Then later they'll be like, remember
- 12:33Speaker 1: that thing we were telling you about? We might come
- 12:35Speaker 1: back to it.
- 12:37Speaker 5: I don't like when they do that but they maybe
- 12:38Speaker 5: alluded to it maybe once or twice more but still
- 12:41Speaker 5: it's just like that one scene where it's like you
- 12:43Speaker 5: know why we're here you're the reason we're here what
- 12:45Speaker 5: you did or some shit like that and I'm just
- 12:46Speaker 5: like what happened what I don't all I know is
- 12:50Speaker 5: Max is super cool she is super cool I liked
- 12:54Speaker 5: her super cool Eleven didn't like her but that's okay
- 12:57Speaker 5: well she snubbed her ass a couple times.
- 12:59Speaker 1: I'm like it's funny for being somebody who's totally like
- 13:02Speaker 1: outside of the social norms especially of like grade school
- 13:06Speaker 1: She fell right into play. She's like, oh, this girl
- 13:09Speaker 1: is moving in my territory.
- 13:10Speaker 5: Uh-uh.
- 13:11Speaker 1: That kind of came together. Again, some of that stuff
- 13:14Speaker 1: I feel like is just ingrained in our DNA, even
- 13:16Speaker 1: if we're a crazy mutant kid. It's just how we
- 13:19Speaker 1: operate immediately.
- 13:21Speaker 5: And Eleven was kind of bratty in this season.
- 13:23Speaker 1: I mean, again, she is a kid, and she's a
- 13:26Speaker 1: kid who didn't even have a normal upbringing at all.
- 13:29Speaker 1: And even now, even this last year, she doesn't have
- 13:32Speaker 1: a normal upbringing. Yeah.
- 13:33Speaker 5: And did they just totally write off the mom? Because
- 13:35Speaker 5: it's like, now he's adopted her or whatever.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Yeah, that mom's crazy. We don't need her.
- 13:41Speaker 5: I mean, were they not going to try to help
- 13:42Speaker 5: her in some way? Because, I mean, if she could
- 13:44Speaker 5: reach her, she could be the only one who could
- 13:45Speaker 5: probably reach her and help her. And they're just like, whatever.
- 13:48Speaker 5: That's a blip in the radar. Whatever. Pretty much. So, yeah.
- 13:53Speaker 5: Good times. Loading up on my Stranger Things memorabilia. I
- 13:56Speaker 5: know that I've actually watched the show. Ordered a Clash ring.
- 13:59Speaker 5: Pretty excited.
- 14:00Speaker 3: Oh, Lord.
- 14:01Speaker 1: From which school is Hawkins High.
- 14:03Speaker 3: All right.
- 14:05Speaker 5: Not from my school, for fuck's sake.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Well, no.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I assumed you had nothing to do with that. Real
- 14:09Speaker 1: school is stupid. At least fake school is like, you
- 14:13Speaker 1: can get on board with it because you don't have
- 14:14Speaker 1: to actually go. You can just watch it and be
- 14:16Speaker 1: done with it.
- 14:16Speaker 5: But other than that, we've been watching the classics, as
- 14:20Speaker 5: it were.
- 14:21Speaker 10: What is it?
- 14:22Speaker 5: Beavis and Butt-Ed.
- 14:23Speaker 1: Oh, well.
- 14:23Speaker 5: All right.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I agree those are the classics.
- 14:27Speaker 5: I got the King Turd collection.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Speaking of classy.
- 14:32Speaker 6: That is the only one to get, though.
- 14:34Speaker 9: Because the Mike Judge.
- 14:36Speaker 1: The new licensed version.
- 14:37Speaker 6: The Mike Judge collection sucks.
- 14:39Speaker 5: The Mike Judge collection sucks ass. Because the Mike Judge
- 14:41Speaker 5: collection doesn't have most of the videos and is heavily edited.
- 14:45Speaker 5: You get the King Turd collection, which is... It's a
- 14:48Speaker 5: fan project.
- 14:49Speaker 1: That's what I was going to say. It can't be
- 14:50Speaker 1: legal then because they probably can never get all the
- 14:53Speaker 1: music rights for all that stuff.
- 14:55Speaker 5: According to the thing, it's fine. I didn't make it.
- 14:58Speaker 5: I'm not distributing it.
- 14:59Speaker 1: It's fine as long as nobody comes looking for us.
- 15:02Speaker 1: It's fine when we dump this on the internet.
- 15:04Speaker 10: Go find it.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:06Speaker 7: I get it.
- 15:07Speaker 6: Which is probably not legal. I think the reason they
- 15:09Speaker 6: make it They make it free that way.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Yeah, they don't get in trouble because they're not getting
- 15:15Speaker 1: money for it. They're not gaining anything. It's just a fan,
- 15:18Speaker 1: in quotes, thing that they put together.
- 15:20Speaker 5: So it's, yeah, completely unedited. It has all the videos
- 15:23Speaker 5: back in it. We've been watching stuff. I'm like, well,
- 15:26Speaker 5: they could not make this today.
- 15:29Speaker 1: There's a lot of stuff. It seems like that's not
- 15:32Speaker 1: that long ago, but yet it's a totally different world.
- 15:35Speaker 5: Like the incognito. Was that the one we watched? Where
- 15:37Speaker 5: it's like one of the kids in the class had
- 15:39Speaker 5: a gun and they were shooting in the room and
- 15:41Speaker 5: he started shooting back out the window. And I'm like, yeah.
- 15:47Speaker 1: People don't.
- 15:48Speaker 6: He actually shoots the teacher the first time. No, no.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Somebody gets.
- 15:51Speaker 5: He shot the blackboard.
- 15:54Speaker 6: Yeah, the blackboard.
- 15:55Speaker 5: And then when Mr. Van Driesen confiscates the gun, he
- 15:59Speaker 5: puts it in his desk with the other guns.
- 16:03Speaker 1: And knives.
- 16:04Speaker 5: And other weapons collected. And as he puts it in there,
- 16:07Speaker 5: of course, it goes off. And I'm just like, we
- 16:10Speaker 5: couldn't make this today. Even shows that try so hard
- 16:13Speaker 5: to like, I love Rick and Morty, but it's, you
- 16:16Speaker 5: can tell it's like, what can we do that's going
- 16:18Speaker 5: to piss people off? You know, or how can we
- 16:20Speaker 5: push that envelope a little bit further?
- 16:22Speaker 1: They definitely try.
- 16:24Speaker 5: Beavis and Butthead did that first. They fished things, you know,
- 16:27Speaker 5: where they're heavily mocking the Asian community. I'm just like, whoa, dude.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like that wouldn't go over in today's world.
- 16:37Speaker 5: So yeah, we're bungholio deep in the world of Beavis
- 16:40Speaker 5: and Butthead at the moment. So that's pretty awesome.
- 16:43Speaker 1: That's a good place to be.
- 16:44Speaker 5: And then we've finally broken in and started watching Gravity Falls.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I'm telling you. They were running a marathon of it
- 16:51Speaker 1: this past week and I got suckered in too. Two
- 16:54Speaker 1: or three episodes, and I'm just like, it's so, again,
- 16:56Speaker 1: for something that most people would write off as a
- 16:58Speaker 1: kid show, I'm like, it's so not a kid show.
- 17:01Speaker 1: It's so, like. better written than that and kind of
- 17:04Speaker 1: better written than most normal live action grown up shows
- 17:08Speaker 1: so it.
- 17:08Speaker 5: Truly is my only problem is having to deal with
- 17:10Speaker 5: the sister sometimes sometimes I like her sometimes she's cute
- 17:13Speaker 5: sometimes I want to punch her in her little.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Cartoon face I think that's what I like is like
- 17:16Speaker 1: she's supposed to be annoying so we get that definitely
- 17:19Speaker 1: but just when the fact that you're like oh my
- 17:21Speaker 1: god I don't want to write her off she always
- 17:23Speaker 1: kind of comes around and like proves that she's always
- 17:26Speaker 1: there for her brother she always takes care of you
- 17:28Speaker 1: know she's always super.
- 17:30Speaker 5: Loyal as long as she gets what she wants though Yeah,
- 17:33Speaker 5: but for the most.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Part, she's just massively loyal to her little dorky friends
- 17:36Speaker 1: and always to her brother. So yeah, she is the
- 17:40Speaker 1: most potentially annoying part of it, but that is her character.
- 17:44Speaker 1: And she does have a pet pig.
- 17:45Speaker 5: I was surprised because I thought the episode where they
- 17:48Speaker 5: had the big deal about the pig and I'm like,
- 17:50Speaker 5: is this pig going to be a one-off? Is it
- 17:51Speaker 5: going to be one episode? No, a pig's been in
- 17:53Speaker 5: every episode since then. I was waiting for it. I'm like,
- 17:56Speaker 5: did he give up his chance of breaking them up
- 17:58Speaker 5: so that she could have her fucking pig? And we're
- 17:59Speaker 5: never going to see that fucking pig again. A pig
- 18:02Speaker 5: is the most important thing in your life.
- 18:04Speaker 1: It really is.
- 18:05Speaker 5: Well, you've seen that pig in every episode since then.
- 18:08Speaker 5: And I like the pig. Waddles is pretty good.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Pig's pretty good.
- 18:11Speaker 5: I'm not even like a big fan of pigs. I'm
- 18:12Speaker 5: just like, oh, it's a pig they roll around in
- 18:13Speaker 5: their own shit. Who cares about pigs? But damn it,
- 18:16Speaker 5: Waddles is so cute.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I do like where, I'm trying to remember what season.
- 18:21Speaker 5: We just finished the first season.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Did he make a fancy machine that involved Waddles yet?
- 18:28Speaker 1: Because I watched them out of order. I just watched
- 18:30Speaker 1: them in whatever was on TV.
- 18:31Speaker 5: I don't think so.
- 18:32Speaker 1: So I've seen them totally out of order along the way.
- 18:34Speaker 1: So yeah, at some point they build something, this contraption
- 18:38Speaker 1: type thing in Waddles. It all centers around Waddles.
- 18:41Speaker 5: No, I've not seen that.
- 18:42Speaker 1: It's one of my favorite ones with Waddles in it.
- 18:43Speaker 5: Only thing I could completely do without, and I know
- 18:46Speaker 5: it's kind of like you have to have your bad guy,
- 18:49Speaker 5: bad guy in a TV series. Fucking Gideon.
- 18:53Speaker 1: So obnoxious.
- 18:55Speaker 5: He's not even like in a quirky, I can deal
- 18:57Speaker 5: with this. I'm like, I just want to punch that
- 18:58Speaker 5: little fat fucker right in his head. Right in his hair.
- 19:00Speaker 5: Right in his hair.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Right in his hair.
- 19:01Speaker 5: Punch him right in his hair. I hate that guy.
- 19:04Speaker 5: I was like, I know you're supposed to. I know
- 19:06Speaker 5: that's the point. But it takes it beyond the level
- 19:08Speaker 5: that I'm comfortable with.
- 19:10Speaker 1: There's a bigger big bad coming. If that helps. I
- 19:13Speaker 1: don't remember if he shows up in the first season yet,
- 19:15Speaker 1: but he's definitely the big bad of the goings on, so.
- 19:21Speaker 5: I don't know. We haven't gotten that far. Gideon, the
- 19:22Speaker 5: last time we watched where Gideon was trying to take
- 19:24Speaker 5: over the.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Well, Gideon.
- 19:27Speaker 6: Brought forth Bill Cipher.
- 19:31Speaker 1: There we go. Bill Cipher completely takes over the show eventually.
- 19:36Speaker 5: Okay.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Kind of in an awesome way. As much as... Man,
- 19:40Speaker 1: his voice is weird. But again, everything about that town
- 19:44Speaker 1: is so entertaining and weird and creepy and works in
- 19:48Speaker 1: a silly, quirky way, too. Like, it's still a comedy,
- 19:53Speaker 1: but it's got, like, it actually kind of has stakes
- 19:55Speaker 1: to it. Like, it's, again, for a silly animated show,
- 19:59Speaker 1: it's just pretty well done, I have to say.
- 20:02Speaker 5: I'm digging it. I don't think we've watched anything else,
- 20:04Speaker 5: have we? Is that all we've watched?
- 20:06Speaker 1: Grunkle Stan's awesome.
- 20:07Speaker 5: Yeah, we have Grunkle Stan.
- 20:09Speaker 1: I made that guy's up. I like his bad attitude.
- 20:11Speaker 6: I think that's all we've been watching.
- 20:15Speaker 5: And candy. I like candy.
- 20:16Speaker 6: Beavis and Butthead.
- 20:21Speaker 5: Gravity Falls.
- 20:23Speaker 1: These are good options.
- 20:25Speaker 5: We rotate on which one we like. If he's more
- 20:27Speaker 5: focused on his phone, I'll turn on Gravity Falls. If
- 20:29Speaker 5: we're actually ready to focus, Beavis and Butthead.
- 20:32Speaker 3: Focus.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Really need to focus in on that.
- 20:36Speaker 5: Subtleties of Beavis and Butthead. Watch the Christmas specials. I
- 20:41Speaker 5: don't know if you remember the Christmas specials of Beavis
- 20:43Speaker 5: and Butthead.
- 20:44Speaker 1: I'm sure I saw them at the time, but that's probably.
- 20:46Speaker 5: The last time. It's a Wonderful Life, where the... I
- 20:51Speaker 5: forget what their knockoff of Clarence has to convince Beavis
- 20:53Speaker 5: and Butthead to kill themselves. So he shows Butthead what
- 20:58Speaker 5: his life would be like if he had never been born,
- 21:01Speaker 5: and everybody's life is so much better.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:04Speaker 5: Beavis is hanging out with... I'm not sure it's much better,
- 21:06Speaker 5: because Beavis is hanging out with Stuart, serving food at
- 21:10Speaker 5: the homeless shelter.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Yeah. It's a Bundy full life. One of my other
- 21:16Speaker 1: personal holiday favorites.
- 21:18Speaker 5: Santa butthead. It's a classic. It's comedy gold. It's so
- 21:24Speaker 5: genius in its stupidity. I mean, it truly is. You
- 21:27Speaker 5: can't make this shit up anymore.
- 21:28Speaker 1: It's that same thing. It's like people want to write
- 21:31Speaker 1: it off because it's a dumb animated show. But it's like, again,
- 21:34Speaker 1: Mike Judge is way smarter than that. So it's like
- 21:36Speaker 1: he's writing it on a level that seems really dumb.
- 21:40Speaker 1: It really, I was kind of joking earlier, but not really.
- 21:43Speaker 1: There really is kind of subtlety going on in the
- 21:45Speaker 1: humor that like he is making his little statements and
- 21:49Speaker 1: adding jokes in there that's two levels above where the
- 21:52Speaker 1: base level of them just the whole time. It's like,
- 21:56Speaker 1: and again, he's making fun of real people that are
- 21:58Speaker 1: out there like that. He knew them. He based them
- 22:00Speaker 1: on people and look around you. There's a lot of
- 22:02Speaker 1: them that are pretty damn close.
- 22:04Speaker 5: That was Aaron. What are you talking about?
- 22:05Speaker 1: Pretty much, yeah.
- 22:08Speaker 5: We would be the same age as me if they
- 22:09Speaker 5: were real people. And they probably still would have never scored. Yikes. God,
- 22:17Speaker 5: I love that show. So wrong, but oh so right.
- 22:22Speaker 3: The classic.
- 22:23Speaker 5: I think my favorite part of Beavis and Benatar 4
- 22:25Speaker 5: is when they were showing the Pat Benatar video. And
- 22:28Speaker 5: I'm like, oh no, she's running away at the tender
- 22:31Speaker 5: age of 30.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:37Speaker 7: Oh, God.
- 22:37Speaker 1: See, that's what I'm saying. There's some pretty awesome stuff
- 22:39Speaker 1: in there.
- 22:40Speaker 5: There's something like that.
- 22:42Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 5: That was more my Beavis voice, but I think Butthead
- 22:44Speaker 5: said it. I mentioned it slightly more Butthead-ity. Because she was,
- 22:48Speaker 5: I forget which Pat Benatar video it was, but she
- 22:51Speaker 5: was like getting in a fight with her parents and
- 22:52Speaker 5: she was leaving and Invincible?
- 22:54Speaker 6: No, that's the, oh, love is a battlefield.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Was she running away in that one? Yeah, she's running
- 23:01Speaker 1: away from that one.
- 23:02Speaker 6: Because she runs away to be a hooker. And all
- 23:06Speaker 6: the other hookers are, they're dancing, doing their dancey things.
- 23:10Speaker 5: She's running away to be a Protestant?
- 23:14Speaker 1: We'll get to that.
- 23:17Speaker 5: Good job. Did you watch the trailer that I posted
- 23:20Speaker 5: on Facebook? Did you see it?
- 23:22Speaker 1: For what?
- 23:23Speaker 5: Mom and Dad.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Oh, yes.
- 23:27Speaker 5: Holy poopsters.
- 23:28Speaker 1: I mean, we just kind of had that, the one, like,
- 23:31Speaker 1: the reverse. The one that was in, like, school. Yeah,
- 23:34Speaker 1: where the kids were all turning into zombies.
- 23:36Speaker 5: Those cooties, right?
- 23:36Speaker 1: Attacking. I think it was cooties that were attacking the grown-ups.
- 23:39Speaker 1: So now it's kind of the other way of, like,
- 23:41Speaker 1: grown-ups are killing kids.
- 23:43Speaker 5: Which I am all for.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:45Speaker 5: But it's got Nicolas Cage, who I am not normally
- 23:47Speaker 5: a big fan of, but god damn, he looks so
- 23:49Speaker 5: batshit crazy.
- 23:50Speaker 1: I'm telling you, when you... There's like three settings on him.
- 23:56Speaker 1: There's like surprisingly a good actor setting, which occasionally we see.
- 24:01Speaker 5: I must have missed that setting.
- 24:03Speaker 1: It's in there, I swear.
- 24:04Speaker 5: Raising Arizona or whatever that was.
- 24:06Speaker 1: He's definitely amazing in that. There's many good roles for him.
- 24:10Speaker 5: What's the one with the vampire? I'm a vampire! I'm
- 24:13Speaker 5: a vampire!
- 24:13Speaker 1: That falls into the second. There's also... full on dialed
- 24:17Speaker 1: up to 11 batshit crazy Nicholas Cage. And that's amazing too.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Like that's, that can be in the worst movie. And sometimes,
- 24:25Speaker 1: sometimes in a good movie, but yeah, no, I think,
- 24:29Speaker 1: I think the bees falls into that third category of like,
- 24:32Speaker 1: and I've got to pay seven mortgages category, which is like,
- 24:35Speaker 1: he will turn up in the weirdest stuff. And he
- 24:38Speaker 1: like for a while there, he knocked out because I
- 24:40Speaker 1: got in that run of watching them all when they
- 24:42Speaker 1: just randomly popped up on Netflix, which they kept doing.
- 24:45Speaker 1: I was like another one, really? So like he will
- 24:48Speaker 1: turn up in some weird stuff and you will watch it.
- 24:50Speaker 1: And even he kind of feels like he's sleepwalking through
- 24:53Speaker 1: or he's crazy, but not even doing the good kind
- 24:56Speaker 1: of crazy. It's just kind of like, what? What is
- 24:58Speaker 1: this whole thing he's working on now?
- 25:01Speaker 3: So, yeah.
- 25:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:03Speaker 1: There's some really great stuff of his, but it's like
- 25:06Speaker 1: a narrow window you gotta find. And then crazy town
- 25:10Speaker 1: face-off level of insanity.
- 25:12Speaker 5: He's batshit crazy.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Yep, that's what, you know. Those are the ones to
- 25:16Speaker 1: stick to. That other random mediocre stuff.
- 25:20Speaker 6: He's just gotta pay the bills.
- 25:21Speaker 1: What are you gonna do? With that, I say we
- 25:25Speaker 1: take our break. And when we come back, we will
- 25:27Speaker 1: address this week's movie.
- 25:28Speaker 5: I picked it.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Yay!
- 25:31Speaker 5: We are.
- 25:34Speaker 8: Strong No one can tell us where to run Searching

- 27:42Speaker 4: The babysitter. She came to sit with baby and ended
- 27:44Speaker 4: up with daddy. And now together for the first time,
- 27:47Speaker 4: two motion pictures that spell double trouble. The babysitter and

- 28:18Speaker 11: That life is.
- 28:19Speaker 1: That's what I said.
- 28:21Speaker 4: Right now. A Crown International release rated R.
- 28:34Speaker 1: So, the holidays are over, which of course also means
- 28:37Speaker 1: we're now careening headfirst into awards season. But of course
- 28:41Speaker 1: on this show, we're only really interested in one award.
- 28:45Speaker 1: The most coveted of all awards.
- 28:48Speaker 3: The Foiler.
- 28:50Speaker 1: That's right, the Meltdown Awards are coming soon and you
- 28:53Speaker 1: can be part of them. For the time being, I'm
- 28:55Speaker 1: opening up the voting to all of our listeners. So
- 28:58Speaker 1: this is your chance. Have your voice be heard, support
- 29:02Speaker 1: the movie or actor you love, and for once, make
- 29:05Speaker 1: your vote count. But the window for voting won't be
- 29:07Speaker 1: open for long, so if you want in on this,

- 30:37Speaker 7: I bet B has boys over at your place all
- 30:39Speaker 7: the time.
- 30:40Speaker 5: That's what babysters do. Seriously, have you ever been awake
- 30:45Speaker 5: after she's fallen asleep?
- 30:56Speaker 1: I love.
- 30:59Speaker 12: Her oh man three out of four people got an
- 31:06Speaker 12: std i got two people's blood on me you do the.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Math my babysitter is trying to kill me are the
- 31:14Speaker 1: attackers in the house they're downstairs having.
- 31:17Speaker 11: A blast all righty babes let's head upstairs and get
- 31:19Speaker 11: the blood of the innocent This would go viral.
- 31:23Speaker 5: I mean, nobody's done human sacrifice. People have always done
- 31:25Speaker 5: human sacrifice. Yeah, but like, not in America with hot people.
- 31:29Speaker 3: Hey!
- 31:30Speaker 2: Come on, Cole! Hi, Cole.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Not weird, we're.
- 31:40Speaker 9: Just having fun.
- 31:44Speaker 10: Things get messy when you make a deal with the devil.
- 31:52Speaker 1: Why is he shirtless?
- 31:54Speaker 10: That's your first question?
- 31:55Speaker 2: There's only one way to end this cult. Fuck you!
- 32:03Speaker 8: Kitty, don't!
- 32:09Speaker 5: Oh my God, he shot me in the boob.
- 32:11Speaker 3: What kind of dick shoots a girl in the boob?
- 32:14Speaker 1: You guys suck.
- 32:23Speaker 11: Crazy bitch tonight was just great she taught us the sign.
- 32:28Speaker 5: For peace.
- 32:31Speaker 11: Now she's made us some popcorn we've turned out the
- 32:35Speaker 11: lights and we're watching movies i don't understand and she
- 32:41Speaker 11: tries to explain how a spaceship is riding through somebody's
- 32:45Speaker 11: brain and there's.
- 32:46Speaker 5: Blood and guts and.
- 32:53Speaker 1: She's the best one that we've ever had.
- 32:56Speaker 11: She sits on her hair and she's tall as my dad.
- 33:00Speaker 11: And she tie-dyed my shirt and she pierced her own
- 33:03Speaker 11: ear and it's pieceme-pool. Yeah, the babysitter's here.
- 33:12Speaker 5: Jump on in to the babysitter.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Alright, we are back. And this week's Sofa Theater feature
- 33:17Speaker 1: is The Babysitter.
- 33:18Speaker 5: The year is 2017. The director....
- 33:23Speaker 1: This was the part that was a little disturbing when
- 33:26Speaker 1: I saw it. I was like, we'd seen it on
- 33:29Speaker 1: there like a month or so ago. And we were like, yeah,
- 33:31Speaker 1: I want to see that. And it's got somebody in it.
- 33:33Speaker 1: And we went, okay. And then I got to this
- 33:35Speaker 1: point right here when I brought this up and went, oh, yeah,
- 33:38Speaker 1: we need to get the plot. And I looked down
- 33:39Speaker 1: and went, motherfucking G.
- 33:42Speaker 5: Mick G.
- 33:43Speaker 1: The director is Mick G.
- 33:45Speaker 5: Fucking A it is.
- 33:46Speaker 1: And the plot. And we're going to vary it up
- 33:49Speaker 1: because this is a Netflix original film. The plot, according
- 33:53Speaker 1: to Netflix, is when Cole stays up past his bedtime,
- 33:58Speaker 1: he discovers that his hot babysitter is part of a
- 34:00Speaker 1: satanic cult that will stop at nothing to keep him quiet.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Spoiler alert, it kind of just ruined a good amount.
- 34:09Speaker 1: And I think that's part of the problem is we
- 34:11Speaker 1: see it coming right away. So I think if you
- 34:13Speaker 1: didn't know that, if they didn't like completely let all
- 34:17Speaker 1: of that out of the bag, like certainly in the
- 34:19Speaker 1: trailer and even in the synopsis there, It might be better.
- 34:23Speaker 1: But with that, and with that description, spoiler alert, we're
- 34:27Speaker 1: going to ruin the hell out of this.
- 34:28Speaker 5: Yes, we are.
- 34:30Speaker 1: Feel free to go watch it on your Netflix right
- 34:33Speaker 1: now because we're going to ruin it.
- 34:36Speaker 5: And it's not a very long movie, so it shouldn't
- 34:38Speaker 5: take you very long.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Yeah, you can pause and come back in a minute
- 34:40Speaker 1: because it is pretty easy to get through.
- 34:42Speaker 5: I didn't look to see what the actual run time
- 34:44Speaker 5: on this was.
- 34:44Speaker 1: I think it is like an hour and a half-ish.
- 34:47Speaker 1: It feels faster. I think that's including all the credits
- 34:50Speaker 1: and everything. I think it's like 127, including credits. So, yeah,
- 34:54Speaker 1: it's a pretty short watch.
- 34:55Speaker 5: Yeah, it didn't even feel that long. It felt like
- 34:58Speaker 5: what McG is normally known for, his music videos.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Yeah, pretty much.
- 35:01Speaker 5: As far as the length was. I don't even care.
- 35:05Speaker 5: I love McG. He's responsible for one of my favorite shows.
- 35:09Speaker 10: Oh, yeah.
- 35:09Speaker 1: What was the name of that?
- 35:10Speaker 5: Fucking Fastlane.
- 35:11Speaker 1: The Bellamy Show.
- 35:12Speaker 5: Fastlane. Hey, do not mock the joy and wonder that
- 35:14Speaker 5: was Peter... Whatever his last name was.
- 35:17Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 35:18Speaker 5: I can't say if it's Facinelli or Facinelli or the
- 35:21Speaker 5: former Mr.
- 35:22Speaker 1: Jeannie Garth.
- 35:23Speaker 5: I don't remember what his actual name was.
- 35:25Speaker 1: You mean the old dude from the vampire movies?
- 35:29Speaker 5: Who is not her dad, but his dad. Who's not
- 35:32Speaker 5: really his dad, but their vampire dad. Yeah, that guy.
- 35:35Speaker 9: The old guy.
- 35:36Speaker 1: That's when I knew he was in trouble. When the hot,
- 35:39Speaker 1: cool teen property came out and you're playing the dad role.
- 35:43Speaker 1: That's lame.
- 35:44Speaker 5: But they're vampires.
- 35:45Speaker 1: They're vampires. Yeah, they're vampires. They're lame-pires.
- 35:49Speaker 5: They're lame-pires.
- 35:50Speaker 1: And that definitely... They're lame-pires. They're lame-pires. And that, yeah,
- 35:56Speaker 1: that throws off your timeline a little bit, but.
- 35:58Speaker 5: It is 85 minutes long, so that is even less than...
- 36:03Speaker 5: It's like five minutes less than an hour and a half.
- 36:09Speaker 1: So... you've, I guess, made your case for McG.
- 36:16Speaker 5: Hey, McG did some really good music videos back in
- 36:18Speaker 5: the day. He did, I know, at least one Sugar
- 36:20Speaker 5: Ray video whose underpants I did touch at some point.
- 36:23Speaker 1: McG's?
- 36:24Speaker 5: Yes, no. Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray. I touched his
- 36:28Speaker 5: underpants one time.
- 36:29Speaker 1: We've brought that up many times on this show.
- 36:31Speaker 5: And I will continue to every time that I get
- 36:33Speaker 5: the chance. And if the chance does not come, I
- 36:36Speaker 5: will make it come and I will make it happen.
- 36:38Speaker 1: As you just did.
- 36:39Speaker 5: I did. There was a complete tie this time, McG.
- 36:42Speaker 5: Sugar Ray, Mark McGrath, Underpants. Direct line.
- 36:46Speaker 1: And then Kevin Bacon.
- 36:47Speaker 5: Maybe.
- 36:48Speaker 1: So... I don't know. Where do you want to begin
- 36:54Speaker 1: overall on this? Because I had.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Again, I was having seen way too much of what's
- 37:00Speaker 1: going on in that trailer because it kind of spells
- 37:02Speaker 1: out most of what goes on in the trailer. So
- 37:05Speaker 1: I'd say avoid the trailer and just watch the movie.
- 37:07Speaker 1: It's only a few minutes longer. But... I was excited
- 37:11Speaker 1: to watch it. I was still fine with it at
- 37:14Speaker 1: the end, but I definitely have a lot of issues
- 37:17Speaker 1: along the way.
- 37:20Speaker 5: I liked it. I liked that they didn't go as
- 37:22Speaker 5: far with certain things because they do that thing where
- 37:24Speaker 5: they were like, the words would flash up like, they
- 37:27Speaker 5: didn't do that enough to make it worth it it's like.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Why do it like why do it like a couple.
- 37:31Speaker 5: Of times but not enough to make it like a
- 37:33Speaker 5: thing you're just like.
- 37:34Speaker 1: And what was the point like he barely like pocket
- 37:38Speaker 1: knife I'm like he barely uses the fucking knife pocket
- 37:41Speaker 1: knife bitches why is it like such a big thing
- 37:44Speaker 1: I kind of thought this.
- 37:45Speaker 6: Was going to turn into him MacGyvering the fuck out
- 37:47Speaker 6: of everything.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Or just immediately like turn around flipping it out and
- 37:50Speaker 1: like stabbing somebody with it but like at most he
- 37:53Speaker 1: sort of cuts the ropes but doesn't even get a
- 37:56Speaker 1: chance to get all the way through.
- 37:57Speaker 5: Him he eventually got away he eventually got through the
- 37:59Speaker 5: rope I'm thinking or did his hair break when he
- 38:01Speaker 5: got fucking throat kicked by the shirtless guy which was
- 38:04Speaker 5: fucking awesome by the way which we are jumping way
- 38:07Speaker 5: ahead of the story.
- 38:11Speaker 1: I think that's the kind of stuff that I found
- 38:13Speaker 1: annoying and only because I feel like it's I have
- 38:19Speaker 1: issues with it direction wise and story wise, which is
- 38:23Speaker 1: a totally different person because I double checked. I was like,
- 38:25Speaker 1: did McG write this? And it's not.
- 38:27Speaker 5: It was Brian Duffield. I'll beat you to it.
- 38:31Speaker 1: Brian Duffield is the writer of this and he's done
- 38:35Speaker 1: other stuff. So it's not like he totally doesn't know
- 38:37Speaker 1: what he's doing because he did. Actually, Jane got a
- 38:40Speaker 1: gun I heard was pretty decent. So that and insurgent
- 38:45Speaker 1: colon detergent or whatever. I haven't watched that whole series,
- 38:47Speaker 1: so I don't know.
- 38:48Speaker 7: But.
- 38:49Speaker 1: He's done, you know, that's a pretty huge property at
- 38:51Speaker 1: the time. So, like, he's actual working writer. So, I
- 38:56Speaker 1: don't know. I think I ended up having kind of
- 38:58Speaker 1: more issues with the writing. But both the writing and direction,
- 39:03Speaker 1: I feel like, are just so trying really hard to
- 39:06Speaker 1: be somebody else.
- 39:08Speaker 5: Who do you feel like they were trying to be?
- 39:10Speaker 1: Or, like, just a pale comparison to other people. And
- 39:14Speaker 1: I think it's people that they, I'm sure, the writing-wise
- 39:17Speaker 1: grew up on. McG's not that much older, but to me,
- 39:20Speaker 1: this felt so much like McG trying to make a
- 39:23Speaker 1: Tarantino movie. And again, maybe it's too much of a go-to,
- 39:29Speaker 1: but flashing the words on the screen is that that's
- 39:32Speaker 1: such a ridiculous, over-the-top, kind of a Tarantino thing. And
- 39:36Speaker 1: when you're Tarantino, you might be able to pull it
- 39:38Speaker 1: off because you've got the writing to back it up
- 39:42Speaker 1: and these amazing actors coming through and delivering. So it's like,
- 39:45Speaker 1: there's that kind of stuff. There's also his super weird...
- 39:49Speaker 1: fast paced cutting and I don't know there's just a
- 39:53Speaker 1: lot of it that seems again back to the heavy
- 39:55Speaker 1: handed comment from earlier like it seems really heavy handed
- 39:59Speaker 1: in what it's trying to do trying to be super
- 40:03Speaker 1: cool and like not totally delivering like trying to just
- 40:09Speaker 1: feels like it's trying really hard to be that where
- 40:11Speaker 1: like it's effortless when you watch you know you're watching
- 40:14Speaker 1: Pulp Fiction he's not trying to do anything he's oozing
- 40:17Speaker 1: Tarantino all over the place It's just the way he
- 40:19Speaker 1: makes things. They're derivative of other movies. He outwardly admits
- 40:23Speaker 1: that he steals from other stuff, but he completely makes
- 40:26Speaker 1: it his own, where this doesn't... Again, I think the
- 40:29Speaker 1: plot's fine, but I feel like the little moments here
- 40:32Speaker 1: and there feel almost derivative of stuff that we've seen
- 40:36Speaker 1: in the last 25 years or so. I don't know.
- 40:40Speaker 1: That's some of my issues with it. Writing-wise, I think
- 40:44Speaker 1: I'm more of... I feel like it's trying so hard
- 40:46Speaker 1: to be anything Kevin Williamson Like it's so reference heavy.
- 40:51Speaker 1: And again, that was, that's what, that's the same thing
- 40:54Speaker 1: I was doing with the director. I'm like, why? I'm
- 40:56Speaker 1: trying to figure out what this dynamic is. It's like,
- 40:58Speaker 1: why can sometimes this same essential like formula work and
- 41:05Speaker 1: other times it totally falls short. And I feel like that.
- 41:08Speaker 1: Cause to me, I think the writing end of it
- 41:10Speaker 1: was more of my issue along the way because I,
- 41:13Speaker 1: you know you look at something like williamson did that
- 41:16Speaker 1: throughout the whole first half of his career i haven't
- 41:18Speaker 1: seen i looked him up he's doing a ton of
- 41:20Speaker 1: tv work now and i haven't watched most of it
- 41:22Speaker 1: but going back to even like freaking from scream to
- 41:26Speaker 1: dawson to the faculty like it is just laid heavy
- 41:30Speaker 1: with references but they don't feel unnatural like it he
- 41:35Speaker 1: creates this little group of characters that this is what
- 41:38Speaker 1: they would probably say where like i don't E.T.
- 41:41Speaker 5: Fingers.
- 41:42Speaker 1: I don't buy. I don't buy any of this nonsense.
- 41:45Speaker 8: I'm like.
- 41:46Speaker 5: I still liked it.
- 41:47Speaker 1: I liked it. I still liked it. It's still fun.
- 41:49Speaker 1: It's just like I kind of wish we had a
- 41:51Speaker 1: little better. Again, it would probably help if it had
- 41:54Speaker 1: a longer running time, which I don't always say about,
- 41:56Speaker 1: especially a silly movie like this. But I'm like, if
- 41:59Speaker 1: we invested a little more time into the babysitter and
- 42:02Speaker 1: into the kid, the kid's pretty good. I kind of
- 42:04Speaker 1: like the kid.
- 42:05Speaker 5: I wanted to invest more time into the shirtless guy.
- 42:07Speaker 5: Because he seemed actually really interesting. He seemed fucking crazy.
- 42:11Speaker 1: Again, I think that that was one of the better
- 42:14Speaker 1: moments that it is like watching him work with the
- 42:17Speaker 1: kid there as we get again, we're jumping way ahead.
- 42:19Speaker 1: But like that, like time when he's chasing around in
- 42:23Speaker 1: the woods and then he's like, no, the bully kid
- 42:25Speaker 1: shows up. He's like, no, you got to go deal
- 42:27Speaker 1: with that, man. You can't let him do that. So
- 42:29Speaker 1: like all of a sudden he's giving him like life lessons.
- 42:31Speaker 1: when two minutes before he was trying to kill him
- 42:34Speaker 1: in the woods. And then he goes right back to
- 42:37Speaker 1: killing him in the yard again. So it's like, it's, yeah,
- 42:39Speaker 1: it's like, it is really that. I think that guy
- 42:43Speaker 1: does a good job with it. And I think that
- 42:44Speaker 1: dynamic had moments when it's really interesting.
- 42:46Speaker 5: And I do like that they address that because like
- 42:49Speaker 5: the kid, Cole, after they, uh.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Maybe the best line in the whole thing.
- 42:55Speaker 5: Why is he shirtless? He wakes up and he's tied
- 42:59Speaker 5: to the chair after he passes out from the blood
- 43:01Speaker 5: loss or whatever. Or the overexertion after blood loss. Does
- 43:05Speaker 5: he take his blood for the ritual? Spoiler alert.
- 43:07Speaker 1: Also, he'd had a shot that morning. I wondered why
- 43:10Speaker 1: in the beginning. I was like, why did we work
- 43:12Speaker 1: that in? That's the most I can come up with
- 43:14Speaker 1: because the parents bring it up again later. And I'm like,
- 43:17Speaker 1: is it because he had a flu shot?
- 43:18Speaker 5: I've had several flu shots and I have never passed out.
- 43:21Speaker 1: That's just today. He's had several flu shots.
- 43:24Speaker 5: I don't know about anybody else, but when I get
- 43:26Speaker 5: a flu shot, my arm is sore as fuck the
- 43:28Speaker 5: next day.
- 43:28Speaker 6: I don't get flu shots.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Yeah, you get the flu.
- 43:31Speaker 6: No, I don't.
- 43:32Speaker 5: But, yeah. I don't trust him. After he wakes up
- 43:34Speaker 5: from whatever, he wakes up and he's tied to the chair.
- 43:38Speaker 1: And all five of them are there presented in front
- 43:41Speaker 1: of him.
- 43:42Speaker 5: Why are you shirtless?
- 43:43Speaker 1: Why is he shirtless? That was, again, that's one of
- 43:47Speaker 1: my favorite.
- 43:47Speaker 5: Lines in the home. I let Giggle snort it all
- 43:50Speaker 5: through that whole scene. Because then they answer and then
- 43:54Speaker 5: But still, why is he shirtless?
- 43:58Speaker 1: Again, there's moments that's why I'm like, this guy isn't
- 44:01Speaker 1: a terrible writer. I feel like it needed another pass
- 44:05Speaker 1: or two to flesh things out. But there are moments
- 44:08Speaker 1: in it that are really great. And again, that's one
- 44:10Speaker 1: of my favorite lines.
- 44:11Speaker 5: Because it would have made sense for the other guy
- 44:13Speaker 5: to be shirtless because he had blood on him.
- 44:15Speaker 1: But no, he's still covering him.
- 44:19Speaker 5: He wasn't completely covered at that point. Only one person's
- 44:21Speaker 5: blood was on him before his little freakout, which was
- 44:23Speaker 5: fucking hilarious. Again, they needed more of that guy and
- 44:26Speaker 5: more of the shirtless guy. And the Asian girl who
- 44:30Speaker 5: I spent most of the time trying to figure out
- 44:31Speaker 5: who the fuck she was. I thought she was the
- 44:32Speaker 5: girl from Sin City. Not the girl from Sin City.
- 44:35Speaker 5: She's from fucking Pitch Perfect, which is a way different movie,
- 44:37Speaker 5: by the way.
- 44:38Speaker 1: See, I feel like, yeah, I feel like she was
- 44:40Speaker 1: kind of wasted. Like, I wanted more with her. I
- 44:43Speaker 1: feel like that's one that, both of the other, because that's, again,
- 44:46Speaker 1: our main reason for going into this is Bella Thorne.
- 44:49Speaker 5: Oh my God, Bella Thorne.
- 44:51Speaker 1: I feel like she was kind of a lost, I
- 44:52Speaker 1: was afraid we were losing her right away. We kind
- 44:55Speaker 1: of don't, but still, I feel like, Yeah, she was
- 44:57Speaker 1: a wasted character. But, like, the times when she's on screen,
- 45:01Speaker 1: she's one of the best things in the movie. Like,
- 45:03Speaker 1: she plays dumb like nobody's business.
- 45:05Speaker 5: Does she play... She might not be acting so much.
- 45:08Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 45:09Speaker 5: I had such high hopes for Bella Thorne, like, in
- 45:11Speaker 5: the early years, like, right after, like, Forget Me Not.
- 45:14Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 45:15Speaker 5: She's a pretty badass little kid. She did pretty good
- 45:17Speaker 5: in that. And then, because, like, Didn't you compare her
- 45:20Speaker 5: to like, no, you compared her to like Amanda Bynes.
- 45:22Speaker 1: I compared her to Amanda Bynes.
- 45:23Speaker 5: And I said no.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Well, they both came out of kids shows and they
- 45:26Speaker 1: both moved into like, okay, we're going to be a
- 45:28Speaker 1: legit movie star now. And then they both went down
- 45:32Speaker 1: a different road. But you're right in your assessment of
- 45:35Speaker 1: the difference.
- 45:36Speaker 5: I think Amanda Bynes legit has problems. I think she's fucking,
- 45:39Speaker 5: she has issues. She needs, you know, I think she's,
- 45:41Speaker 5: I think she has gotten her life. She has at
- 45:43Speaker 5: least tried and is making an effort to get her
- 45:45Speaker 5: life back on track. I think Bella Thorne is going
- 45:47Speaker 5: more of the Lindsay Lohan route.
- 45:49Speaker 1: I think she's the, I'm young and popular-ish and super
- 45:55Speaker 1: like semi-famous enough to get away with whatever I want.
- 45:59Speaker 1: And I've got just enough money. And I think I'm
- 46:02Speaker 1: hot according to my Instagram feed.
- 46:03Speaker 5: Maybe it's just the redheads of Disney go the wrong way.
- 46:06Speaker 1: I don't know, but.
- 46:07Speaker 9: The redheads of Disney.
- 46:10Speaker 5: Ariel better watch her ass. You know what I'm saying?
- 46:13Speaker 5: But it's serious. I mean, she is.
- 46:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 46:15Speaker 1: In the real world, she's become a very different person
- 46:18Speaker 1: than you would have expected her. And it's funny that
- 46:20Speaker 1: like one.
- 46:22Speaker 5: For all I know, she's a really nice girl. Well,
- 46:25Speaker 5: who just doesn't have any clothes on.
- 46:27Speaker 1: Very nice. Yeah. According to her own Instagram feed, she's
- 46:30Speaker 1: naked most of the day. But on top, what's funny
- 46:33Speaker 1: is like looking at the two coming out of her
- 46:36Speaker 1: TV show, you would have been like, OK, she's the
- 46:39Speaker 1: next big thing. Zendaya is smoking her ass. She's in
- 46:43Speaker 1: the new Hugh Jackman musical and she's now in the
- 46:46Speaker 1: Spider-Man series. She's turned into a legitimate movie star.
- 46:51Speaker 5: Whereas Bella Thorne is wearing a cheerleader outfit getting shot
- 46:54Speaker 5: in the boob.
- 46:55Speaker 1: On a Netflix original movie. He shot me in the boob!
- 47:00Speaker 5: Kind of a dick shoots a girl in the boob!
- 47:03Speaker 5: I laughed at that, too.
- 47:04Speaker 1: I'm telling you, her doing that character is pretty great, actually.
- 47:09Speaker 8: Guys!
- 47:13Speaker 5: Oh, my God!
- 47:15Speaker 8: Fucking help me!
- 47:16Speaker 1: What are you doing?
- 47:18Speaker 5: Oh, my God, he shot me in the boob. What
- 47:20Speaker 5: kind of dick shoots a girl in the boob? B,
- 47:24Speaker 5: I did not sign up for this shit.
- 47:26Speaker 1: Ow!
- 47:26Speaker 6: Stop complaining.
- 47:27Speaker 7: Stop all your whining.
- 47:28Speaker 5: I'm gonna stop growing.
- 47:29Speaker 1: They weren't even done.
- 47:31Speaker 6: Man, sometimes you gotta settle, all right?
- 47:33Speaker 10: I got a cousin, Chantel.
- 47:34Speaker 7: Titties flat.
- 47:35Speaker 1: Personality real good.
- 47:36Speaker 5: Ow.
- 47:37Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 47:38Speaker 1: Ow, you fucking bitch! What's wrong with you?
- 47:41Speaker 5: Get away from me with your fucking beret! I'm just
- 47:45Speaker 5: gonna clean out.
- 47:47Speaker 10: What?
- 47:47Speaker 1: No.
- 47:48Speaker 5: What do you mean?
- 47:48Speaker 1: I'm going to bleed a kid.
- 47:50Speaker 5: Can we just stick a tampon in her or something?
- 47:53Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 47:54Speaker 5: We need to call an ambulance, guys. I need an ambulance.
- 47:57Speaker 1: I don't want to lose my boob.
- 47:58Speaker 5: I can't do that.
- 47:59Speaker 8: What?
- 48:01Speaker 2: Why not?
- 48:02Speaker 10: Because your boob was.
- 48:03Speaker 2: Shot by a now dead cop.
- 48:05Speaker 10: Have fun explaining that.
- 48:06Speaker 5: No, it's just going to motor boobies be.
- 48:08Speaker 1: Well, the other funny part was when she starts punching that.
- 48:11Speaker 1: punching the kid and apparently does he punch.
- 48:13Speaker 5: Her in the boob i think so he.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Grabs her and she gets all upset she's like why
- 48:17Speaker 1: would you do that it feels so violent you're such
- 48:20Speaker 1: a perv he's like but you were attacking me you
- 48:23Speaker 1: were trying to kill me punching him in the head
- 48:26Speaker 1: like 20 times but i didn't try to punch you.
- 48:28Speaker 5: In the dick.
- 48:32Speaker 1: Oh i'm telling you like once she came back i'm
- 48:35Speaker 1: like see we needed more of this like they shouldn't
- 48:37Speaker 1: have like taken her out of the whole middle half
- 48:39Speaker 1: of the movie like she's like her dumb character is
- 48:43Speaker 1: so much fun that like i could have heard her
- 48:46Speaker 1: like set up some of those lines and play off
- 48:49Speaker 1: play dumb really well for like a lot more of
- 48:52Speaker 1: that like again i think that maybe i have not.
- 48:54Speaker 5: Seen enough of her movie career catalog to be a
- 48:58Speaker 5: full judge of her character.
- 48:59Speaker 1: She doesn't have a lot of leads is what i've
- 49:01Speaker 1: seen her pop up in things as like the daughter
- 49:04Speaker 1: character or a side character but like i don't.
- 49:07Speaker 5: She's in the new amityville horror movie Probably. There's no
- 49:10Speaker 5: probably she isn't.
- 49:11Speaker 1: She's no Diane Franklin.
- 49:13Speaker 5: No, not everybody can be. But from what I've heard,
- 49:15Speaker 5: there's really shitty things to say about that movie too.
- 49:17Speaker 5: But I don't necessarily think it's her fault, but I
- 49:18Speaker 5: still want to watch it just to see.
- 49:20Speaker 1: I feel like I'll get to it at some point.
- 49:23Speaker 5: But in all fairness, she is hot. I'm not going
- 49:25Speaker 5: to lie. Heard for a soulless ginger. I mean, which
- 49:28Speaker 5: I'm sure I'm going to get fucking shit over that again.
- 49:31Speaker 1: Whatever.
- 49:31Speaker 5: Oh wait, nobody who made that, nobody who bitched last
- 49:35Speaker 5: time about that probably listens anymore, so... Anyways, Bella Thorne.
- 49:39Speaker 5: You keep on rocking that nakedness. Everybody loves it.
- 49:42Speaker 1: I'm going to go the other way, Bella. I think
- 49:45Speaker 1: you probably have. Again, we've seen she had potential. She
- 49:49Speaker 1: was super likable on her own little TV show that
- 49:52Speaker 1: now is gone. So it's like, maybe put some clothes on.
- 49:56Speaker 5: Read a few books.
- 49:57Speaker 1: This is bad coming from me.
- 49:59Speaker 5: Hey, wait a second. She is a fucking author. She
- 50:03Speaker 5: writes the books. Oh, God. She has a whole series.
- 50:06Speaker 1: She sings the songs that make the whole world sing.
- 50:08Speaker 5: She has an entire series of which I just bought one,
- 50:11Speaker 5: signed copy, because why the fuck not?
- 50:13Speaker 1: You're a super dork.
- 50:14Speaker 5: It's like Autumn Falls. I didn't actually, I don't know
- 50:16Speaker 5: what this book is about or anything, but it's got
- 50:18Speaker 5: her pictures on it.
- 50:19Speaker 1: Is it like why romances and why horror and why.
- 50:25Speaker 5: I have no idea what this book actually is about,
- 50:27Speaker 5: but I bought one because it was a signed copy
- 50:29Speaker 5: and I got it on like the internet for cheap,
- 50:31Speaker 5: which I'm all about cheap things on the internet. But, uh,
- 50:35Speaker 5: I look up Bella Thorne and the first thing I see,
- 50:38Speaker 5: naked Bella Thorne.
- 50:39Speaker 1: Yeah, that's naked Bella Thorne. You get a lot of that.
- 50:42Speaker 1: All you have to do is type it into Google's
- 50:43Speaker 1: and you'll get a lot of that. And all of
- 50:46Speaker 1: her own doing. It's not like somebody leaked this photo
- 50:49Speaker 1: of her. It's like, no, she leaked this photo of
- 50:51Speaker 1: her directly on her Instagram feed.
- 50:54Speaker 5: It's a trilogy of books, mind you.
- 50:56Speaker 1: Triology.
- 50:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know which one comes first. I'm looking
- 51:00Speaker 5: at Autumn's Wish right now, by the way. I'm going
- 51:02Speaker 5: to assume it's probably pretty cheesy, and I don't know
- 51:04Speaker 5: if she actually wrote any of it.
- 51:07Speaker 1: It has her name on it, though.
- 51:08Speaker 5: It has her name. It's got her... I mean, she's
- 51:14Speaker 5: on the back of it, I think, too.
- 51:15Speaker 1: Again, I'm just like, focus on your career.
- 51:19Speaker 5: You can do more.
- 51:20Speaker 1: I'm trying to encourage her to put clothes on and
- 51:22Speaker 1: be a success. I mean, I know that's not how
- 51:26Speaker 1: that city works usually. It works more with take your
- 51:29Speaker 1: clothes off and do a lot of stupid things.
- 51:31Speaker 5: Okay, I might actually enjoy this, but hold on. You
- 51:32Speaker 5: have to read. You have to hear. Bella Thorne wrote this,
- 51:35Speaker 5: or at least slapped her picture on everything. Senior year
- 51:39Speaker 5: is here and everyone has a plan, except Autumn Falls.
- 51:41Speaker 5: Apparently that's her name.
- 51:43Speaker 1: Oh, Lord.
- 51:44Speaker 5: I thought it was like the name of the city
- 51:45Speaker 5: or something, or like a town, like Stars Hollow.
- 51:47Speaker 1: The name of the novel.
- 51:49Speaker 5: Yeah, Autumn Falls, something like a place. So many crazy
- 51:52Speaker 5: important decisions lie ahead, and she's scared to make the
- 51:54Speaker 5: wrong one. So when she receives a magical locket that
- 51:57Speaker 5: enables her to time travel, Autumn hopes she can correct
- 52:01Speaker 5: all her past mistakes with her friends and boys, and
- 52:04Speaker 5: maybe even prevent her dad from dying. But the locket
- 52:07Speaker 5: doesn't work that way. Instead, Autumn discovers that she is
- 52:10Speaker 5: only able to visit the future, and she doesn't like
- 52:13Speaker 5: what she sees. Autumn can change her destiny, but does
- 52:17Speaker 5: she really want?
- 52:20Speaker 7: What?
- 52:20Speaker 5: But what does she really want? I totally screwed that
- 52:22Speaker 5: one up.
- 52:23Speaker 4: Reading.
- 52:24Speaker 1: It's difficult.
- 52:24Speaker 5: Words and stuff. Anyways, Bella Thorne, you read you some
- 52:29Speaker 5: damn books. You write you some damn books. I'll read
- 52:32Speaker 5: them or I'll at least own them. I can't guarantee
- 52:34Speaker 5: I'll get to them anytime this year.
- 52:37Speaker 1: You're running out of year, by the way.
- 52:39Speaker 5: Or next year. Or even the year after that. But
- 52:42Speaker 5: one of these days, damn it, maybe, I'll get around
- 52:46Speaker 5: to it.
- 52:47Speaker 1: She's a very likable person. person as far as i
- 52:50Speaker 1: know so we wish her the best and wish she
- 52:53Speaker 1: was in this movie.
- 52:54Speaker 5: More i wish she was so she could yell more
- 52:56Speaker 5: about her boobs and how nobody's gonna want to motor both.
- 52:59Speaker 2: These i'm.
- 53:03Speaker 1: Telling you that level of dumb was was really fun.
- 53:06Speaker 5: It's awesome i love bella thorne i'm not i really
- 53:09Speaker 5: don't mean to sound bad about her i adore her
- 53:12Speaker 5: i really do wish i would see her in more
- 53:13Speaker 5: things she is amazing I just.
- 53:15Speaker 1: Expected her to take off more and go a little
- 53:18Speaker 1: more straight-laced about it because, again, she's coming from that world,
- 53:23Speaker 1: which I know some of the kids leave the network
- 53:27Speaker 1: shows that are geared for kids and they want to
- 53:29Speaker 1: be like, ha-ha, I'm not a kid anymore.
- 53:31Speaker 5: And they all do.
- 53:33Speaker 1: Some sort of Maxim spread or something that would have
- 53:36Speaker 1: happened 12 years ago. But now they all have to
- 53:38Speaker 1: do something to try to break out and be grown-up versions.
- 53:41Speaker 1: But you don't have to go too far with it.
- 53:43Speaker 1: You can still, you know. Stick to a career plan
- 53:46Speaker 1: and get some good roles.
- 53:49Speaker 5: You go for it, Bella Thorne.
- 53:50Speaker 1: You do it, Bella.
- 53:51Speaker 5: Hells yeah.
- 53:53Speaker 1: We believe in you.
- 53:55Speaker 5: Do we? Yeah.
- 53:57Speaker 1: If she put her clothes on and focused, I think
- 53:58Speaker 1: she'd be just fine.
- 54:00Speaker 5: Maybe she likes to be naked.
- 54:02Speaker 1: She seems to.
- 54:04Speaker 5: But she kept her clothes on during this movie.
- 54:06Speaker 1: That's true. She talked about a certain part of her
- 54:08Speaker 1: anatomy a lot, but we didn't see anything. She was
- 54:11Speaker 1: in her cheerleader outfit the whole time.
- 54:13Speaker 5: Because she didn't want to miss that shit. She had
- 54:16Speaker 5: practice that night. Obviously. I'm telling you. I needed a
- 54:20Speaker 5: movie about her and the shirtless guy.
- 54:24Speaker 1: I think everybody, like even Bea is, again, we're sticking
- 54:27Speaker 1: with the quote-unquote hot babysitter, which... These eyes are the
- 54:31Speaker 1: wrong size for her head. I don't know. I was
- 54:34Speaker 1: trying to figure out where she was from the whole
- 54:36Speaker 1: time because she seemed super familiar. The supervisor.
- 54:42Speaker 5: She's a supervisor now. The babysitter upgraded her status.
- 54:46Speaker 1: I was just thinking like an action movie.
- 54:49Speaker 6: The supervisor.
- 54:52Speaker 1: They break into your office building and she's got to
- 54:54Speaker 1: kick their ass. She's the supervisor. But yeah, her eyes
- 55:00Speaker 1: are just anime characters. They're huge. It's odd looking. But
- 55:06Speaker 1: I don't know. I think she's, again, she's a very
- 55:10Speaker 1: likable person and definitely comes off super likable in this.
- 55:15Speaker 1: This is where the writing comes in because I don't...
- 55:18Speaker 1: And granted, spoiler alert, she's lying the whole time. So
- 55:21Speaker 1: it's like... But I feel like we're supposed to at least...
- 55:24Speaker 1: be invested enough in her to believe what's going on.
- 55:27Speaker 1: And I'm like, this goofy high school girl's not going
- 55:31Speaker 1: to give a shit about Billy Jack. I'm telling you. Yeah.
- 55:34Speaker 1: I've met him. And this is one of those, like,
- 55:37Speaker 1: I feel like it's, it's, I remember somebody using to
- 55:41Speaker 1: jump off to a different director analogy, but like, years
- 55:45Speaker 1: ago but.
- 55:46Speaker 5: Is she still really a teenage girl because if she's
- 55:48Speaker 5: been going to different cities and different towns and doing this.
- 55:50Speaker 1: Even then she's a young woman but is.
- 55:52Speaker 5: She still because if she's been maybe making wishes because
- 55:54Speaker 5: the whole thing is you get the book the book
- 55:56Speaker 5: blood how old is she really how old is she.
- 55:59Speaker 1: So she's actually like she saw billy jack in the
- 56:01Speaker 1: theater original run i'm.
- 56:02Speaker 5: Just wondering because i mean if she's been going actually
- 56:05Speaker 5: he's up he's she even admitted he ain't the first
- 56:07Speaker 5: kid how many times has she been how many was
- 56:10Speaker 5: one of her wishes to be younger again how old
- 56:12Speaker 5: is she really.
- 56:14Speaker 1: We're definitely stretching this plot even more than I believe
- 56:17Speaker 1: our writer did.
- 56:18Speaker 6: I didn't think about that. Because, I mean, if she's.
- 56:21Speaker 5: Just a teenage girl, but she's already been doing this
- 56:25Speaker 5: for a while.
- 56:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 56:27Speaker 1: But here's my other thing. I feel like I also don't,
- 56:31Speaker 1: and again, I actually like, again, us not always being
- 56:35Speaker 1: thrilled with children. I actually like this kid. I think
- 56:38Speaker 1: he not only is a good actor, but even within
- 56:40Speaker 1: the plot, he's our likable protagonist. I'm fine with that.
- 56:44Speaker 1: But he starts rolling through these references, and again, it's
- 56:48Speaker 1: like Kevin Williamson knee-deep in references, but I don't necessarily
- 56:52Speaker 1: buy that this kid... A few of them, maybe. They
- 56:56Speaker 1: definitely set him up to be kind of a dork,
- 56:59Speaker 1: but it's different when we're watching Dawson, and he's constantly
- 57:03Speaker 1: referencing movies, because these are dorky movie people. Dawson wants
- 57:07Speaker 1: to be a filmmaker, and they work in a video store,
- 57:09Speaker 1: so it makes sense that these dumb characters would... have
- 57:12Speaker 1: that many references at their fingertips at any given moment.
- 57:15Speaker 1: But when the kid, like, this little dorky kid is
- 57:19Speaker 1: making Godfather 2 references, and, like, they're, I mean, he's, like,
- 57:24Speaker 1: I don't know, the ID4 and Billy Jack and Seven.
- 57:29Speaker 1: I'm just, like, we get so many characters making these
- 57:32Speaker 1: references that I feel like aren't accurate to their character. Like,
- 57:37Speaker 1: does it, I mean, you grew up on E.T.
- 57:40Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 57:41Speaker 1: This kid is much younger than we are. Like, does this,
- 57:44Speaker 1: do kids now give a rat's ass about E.T.? I
- 57:47Speaker 1: don't think so.
- 57:48Speaker 5: I don't think it's a go-to. Even I don't make
- 57:50Speaker 5: boyfriend do E.T.
- 57:50Speaker 10: Things.
- 57:51Speaker 2: I know.
- 57:51Speaker 1: And that's why I'm like, I think, and that's what
- 57:53Speaker 1: I was saying before. I was like, this is jumping
- 57:54Speaker 1: to a different example. But I remember when Kevin Smith
- 57:59Speaker 1: did the Zack and Miri make a porno.
- 58:02Speaker 5: Which I still haven't seen.
- 58:03Speaker 1: Well, that's the thing. All of his characters in this
- 58:07Speaker 1: movie are obsessed with Star Wars. And it's like, okay,
- 58:10Speaker 1: but the characters in your movie are at least 10,
- 58:13Speaker 1: if not more, years younger than you, the director. So
- 58:17Speaker 1: they wouldn't have grown up. They'd probably love Lord of
- 58:19Speaker 1: the Rings. You know, it's like they wouldn't have grown up.
- 58:21Speaker 1: That was the low time when nobody gave a rat's
- 58:24Speaker 1: ass about Star Wars. Yes, now it's back. But during
- 58:26Speaker 1: that late, you know, or the entire 90s, basically, nobody
- 58:30Speaker 1: gave a shit about Star Wars anymore. So the fact
- 58:32Speaker 1: that he's... writing all these characters that are obsessed with,
- 58:36Speaker 1: I'm like, no, that's just you.
- 58:38Speaker 6: The late 90s, you got the, well, no, even the
- 58:41Speaker 6: mid 90s.
- 58:41Speaker 1: They start coming back. The mid 90s is when.
- 58:43Speaker 6: They brought out the THX stuff.
- 58:44Speaker 1: Yeah, it started coming back, but again, he has everyone
- 58:48Speaker 1: in this being, and this wasn't even my comment. I
- 58:51Speaker 1: just heard it and went, yeah, this is like the
- 58:53Speaker 1: director kind of showing his hand. Like, he's also the writer.
- 58:57Speaker 1: He's obsessed with Star Wars, so all of a sudden,
- 58:59Speaker 1: all of his characters are obsessed with Star Wars, and
- 59:01Speaker 1: I feel like that also applied to this. I'm like,
- 59:04Speaker 1: we're seeing the writers heavy handed writing in this where
- 59:08Speaker 1: it's like, yes, you think Godfather two is an awesome movie,
- 59:12Speaker 1: but this kid, it seems unlikely that he's also going
- 59:16Speaker 1: to be a big Godfather fan at his age at this,
- 59:19Speaker 1: you know, all these other dorky, he likes RC cars,
- 59:22Speaker 1: but also Godfather, you know, I'm not saying it's impossible.
- 59:25Speaker 1: I'm just saying it's, It seems unlikely when also mixed
- 59:28Speaker 1: in with E.T. Fingers and I don't know, suddenly he's
- 59:32Speaker 1: knee deep in Star Trek references, which once again, Star
- 59:36Speaker 1: Trek isn't really popular with kids now. Like it's an
- 59:39Speaker 1: old person show. Like there hasn't, other than this brand
- 59:42Speaker 1: new one, which isn't even on network television, there hasn't
- 59:44Speaker 1: been a new running Star Trek show ever. In years.
- 59:48Speaker 6: Yeah, it's been quite a while.
- 59:50Speaker 1: It's a long time since those went off the air.
- 59:52Speaker 1: So little kids now, unless you really dug deep and
- 59:55Speaker 1: did your homework to be a super geek, you probably
- 59:58Speaker 1: wouldn't be all that into Star Trek.
- 1:00:00Speaker 6: Or unless your parents were into it.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: Again, none of this is impossible that he couldn't have been.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: It just all felt very convenient.
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: I mean, I have a Star Trek tattoo, and it
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: was amazing. I was born in 80, and it came
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: out way before that, but again, I watched it with
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: my mom.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: I feel like it's still, and it was still on
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: network TV. You still came up in that pre-everything being
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: overrun by cable and everything at your fingertips on the internet,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: so you still watched stuff on network TV. You still
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: kind of had the tail end of that experience that
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: you would have been into Star Trek from reruns, but
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: now there are no reruns. The TV doesn't work the
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: same way it used to. Me TV?
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: Me TV.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: It just all, again, it's not impossible. It just all
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: seems very convenient. And I feel like it's the writer
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: showing his hand of like, these are all things that
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: I love because I'm a big geek and I'm writing movies.
- 1:00:50Speaker 5: I'm not buying that his parents would be into anything
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: that he was into because his parents are kind of dicks.
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: Which let me be honest, I love that one guy.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: Well, that's my other, yeah, that was my like, it
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: proves an ongoing theory that I have. If you have
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: any project and you leave it sitting around for a
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: little while, Ken Marino shows up in it.
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: Hell yes, he does.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: Just no matter what. And I love him. I'm so
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: glad when I see him pop up and stuff. But
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: I'm just like, I am constantly amazed. I'm like, he's
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: in this too? How does he have time to go
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: to the grocery or take a nap?
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: Oh, Vinny Van Loo is in everything. I love Vinny
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: Van Loo.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: He's just, oh, I love Ken. But it amazes me
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: the amount of stuff he ends up in.
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: Maybe I just don't watch that much stuff because I
- 1:01:31Speaker 5: don't see him in that much stuff.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: He's in a lot of stuff. He's in a lot
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: of movies.
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: I was like, ooh, Leslie Bibb's in this. I was like, ooh,
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: Leslie Bibb.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: He's in a lot of movies. He turns up in
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: random TV shows.
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: He was on iZombie a couple times. Yeah. Veronica Mars
- 1:01:44Speaker 5: is the best show ever. I don't even fucking care.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: I can't. I can't argue.
- 1:01:48Speaker 5: You can't.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: Because it is.
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: You'll lose that argument.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: I wouldn't try to argue.
- 1:01:52Speaker 8: Exactly.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: Because I agree.
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: Hell yeah, you do.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: So, I don't know. I think that's the kind of
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: stuff that I had more issues with. Again, the Seven reference,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: I think, comes from ShirtlessDude. does the captain of the
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: football team seem like the kind of guy who's like
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: watching old David Fincher movies that were like, he was
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: probably a kid when that came out.
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: So he didn't make a Jason reference.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: That's another one. I was just like, why? I mean,
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: that one's at least pop culture. He's crazy. Yeah. I'll
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: almost give him that, but I'm like, it just, I mean,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: I would.
- 1:02:22Speaker 5: Give him any horror reference because he seems like he
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: is legit crazy.
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: He does seem a little, it just, I don't know.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: It all felt very convenient for us, the audience. And
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: the writer end of it. I didn't feel like it
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: was super genuine to the characters. I wish we had
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: more convincing characters, because I think what was that?
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: Like, the bones of.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: It is pretty great.
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: Samuel was a very convincing character.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: Samuel seemed like a dork. Got stabbed in the head.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: And that's what happens to dorks. They get stabbed in
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: the head. They get stabbed in the head. And people
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: gather their blood in cups.
- 1:02:54Speaker 5: Apparently. And there's squirts in his face.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: Or it falls all over their face or whatever happens. But, yeah.
- 1:03:00Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: I think there's a lot of good here, but it's
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: mixed in with a lot of other stuff that I
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: almost feel like is rushed. And I don't know if
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: it's like, maybe it's because of the Netflix thing. Maybe
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: Netflix is just like, we need to get original content out.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: Get to work. Get this thing knocked out.
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: And he's used to making music videos, so he's used
- 1:03:17Speaker 5: to making shit that's short. So he pumped that shit out.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: He's used to making, I don't know.
- 1:03:21Speaker 6: Yeah, I do.
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: I've seen a good.
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: Amount of it.
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: That explain was awesome.
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: Well, but he's Charlie's Angels too, right?
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Because that's why I was watching this going, the giant titles. Again,
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: it seems like it is very similar to Charlie's Angels,
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: so I don't. And those are fun. Again, they're super
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: light on a good moment. They're light, but they're at
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: least fun in their own silly way. And that kind
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: of stuff almost flies there, but I don't know. It
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: seems like it's just so forced into this thing. And
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: doesn't even pay off in any way. Like, it's just.
- 1:04:00Speaker 5: And how adorable was the neighbor girl?
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: Oh, man.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: She shouldn't be that damn cute.
- 1:04:05Speaker 5: She was like, it's like they wanted to get Chloe, Moretz, Grace, whatever.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: The fuck her name is. Except she's like 30 now.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: So they had to find somebody who kind of looked
- 1:04:12Speaker 5: like her. So they shoved this girl in there and
- 1:04:15Speaker 5: I adored her. You know, she's going to be a badass.
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: Yeah. Again, and is super likable. So that's another one
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: of those. I'm like, can we spin? Because even them
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: in like on the bus, they're a few minutes at school, like.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: Their dynamic is really good. I even like them, like,
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: calling each other and texting each other like those. So, like,
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: I could see, like, doing a whole plot that revolved
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: around the two of them doing stuff and, like, having
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: a cool adventure. Like, I'd rather have that kind of
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: stuff than, like, we kind of spin so much of
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: it away from her that, like, luckily I still like him.
- 1:04:48Speaker 5: He had a higher fucking body count than anybody else
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: in this damn movie did.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: That's true. It's because nothing else really went right.
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: It took out three people, at least.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: Once it became super bloody Home Alone.
- 1:04:59Speaker 5: Because, I mean, the first guy who attacked him, the
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: black guy. That fucking thing threw the neck in the
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: goddamn jugular.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: Then.
- 1:05:11Speaker 5: Blew up Sonya. Was her name Sonya?
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so.
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: Blowed her ass up with a fucking firework and some
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: bug spray.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: Again, that's one of those, like, I won't nitpick because
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: it's a movie, and it's a silly movie, so you
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: let that kind.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: Of stuff go.
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: How come the rest of the house didn't catch on fire?
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: That's my thing. Like, everything about, like, it'd be different
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: if maybe, I would almost even buy that, like, he
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: hit the can and the can blew up and caused
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: an explosion. But like he just sprayed it a little
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: around the window there and suddenly the whole thing blew up.
- 1:05:41Speaker 5: Like the firework went off.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: Well, I thought it was because like I thought that
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: was why we got the fireballs because he was spraying
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: the bug spray and that ignited. And but like it
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: was a little cloud of bug spray. Like at least
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: if you blew up the can, it might be something
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: I could get on board with. So again, very convenient
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: and silly.
- 1:05:58Speaker 5: He didn't intentionally kill shirtless guy, but that was.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: It happens.
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: He was in the process of getting killed by shirtless guy.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: That's another one I have to overlook. The four pounds
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: of yolk that was suddenly on his hand from one egg.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: He slapped one egg on his head, and suddenly that
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: guy is just covered in egg yolk on his hands
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: ten minutes later after he's been running around with it
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: on his head.
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: Oh, I'm not going to let you die with egg
- 1:06:19Speaker 5: on your face. I like that guy.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: Again, I like that guy. I think that performance is
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: pretty good, actually.
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: I like that guy.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: I wish I could have seen more. Again, I think
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: there's great bones to this. It just needed more fleshing out.
- 1:06:32Speaker 5: Now that I've recited half the damn movie. God, I
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: could watch this movie again, I think. Again, I probably would.
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: Just because it's fun. I don't think it's bad. I
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: just think it could be so much better, I think
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: was my problem with it. I wasn't upset at the
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: end of it. I was like, it was fun. I
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: had a good time watching it, but I wasn't I
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: think there's so much good stuff in the base of
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: it that I think you could have made it a
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: great movie.
- 1:06:59Speaker 5: See, I was waiting for... I was like, are they
- 1:07:02Speaker 5: going to team up? Is she going to let him
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: get a wish?
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: And what would his wish be? Would it be for
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: things to go back to normal? Would it be for
- 1:07:10Speaker 5: him to... The whole movie he's kind of picked on
- 1:07:12Speaker 5: and bullied. You're like, alright, this is his chance. This
- 1:07:16Speaker 5: is his chance. He knows what the book can do.
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: He's been told. He doesn't actually know anything. Is he
- 1:07:24Speaker 5: going to like, alright, okay, let's do this.
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: I get a wish. I'm going to be the coolest
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: kid that ever was.
- 1:07:32Speaker 5: Because I was waiting for it. I'm like, it could
- 1:07:34Speaker 5: go that way. It could go that way. But then, nah,
- 1:07:38Speaker 5: we just set that shit on fire. spoiler alert i at.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: Least like again not to jump too far to the
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: end but at least i feel like because sometimes there's
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: so many of those type of movies that i feel
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: like they're trying to do some sort of build up
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: and then end it's like kind of lame just like
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: ah and that's the end now we're at least flipping
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: a car into his own home and crushing this girl
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: is a pretty good finale actually For a low-stakes kid
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: trapped by himself in a house like.
- 1:08:09Speaker 5: And it was a douchey car.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: It's a pretty awesome little finale there when he decides
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: that that's his finishing move. I'm like, no, that's pretty good.
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: You just smashed the front of your entire house out
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: with a douchey car. So that's a pretty cool finale.
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: We didn't talk about douche dad for a second because
- 1:08:25Speaker 5: that guy was an absolute asshole. The neighbor girl whose
- 1:08:27Speaker 5: name I don't even remember right now, adorable as she is,
- 1:08:30Speaker 5: her dad is an absolute bag of dicks. Apparently their
- 1:08:33Speaker 5: parents got divorced, so apparently the dad bought this, what
- 1:08:36Speaker 5: is it, a... What did he do to die? Some
- 1:08:38Speaker 5: kind of douche car.
- 1:08:39Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 1:08:40Speaker 5: Was it a Trans Am? Was it a Camaro?
- 1:08:41Speaker 6: It looked kind of like either a Malibu or a Chevelle.
- 1:08:44Speaker 6: I couldn't tell. I wasn't really paying attention.
- 1:08:46Speaker 5: Well, she refers to it as a douche car several
- 1:08:48Speaker 5: times during the movie, I'm pretty sure. Anyways, he goes
- 1:08:51Speaker 5: to steal that, you know. We're like, alright, is he
- 1:08:53Speaker 5: making a run for it? Is he making a run
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: for it? He's gonna leave? He's gonna take off? No,
- 1:08:57Speaker 5: he's gonna drive that shit right through his fucking living
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: room window. Melanie.
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: Melanie.
- 1:09:02Speaker 5: And then boyfriend's like, why is there a fucking ramp
- 1:09:05Speaker 5: in his front yard? I'm like, uh, were you not
- 1:09:06Speaker 5: paying attention? They set this up earlier. That's the roof
- 1:09:08Speaker 5: to his clubhouse. Like, I was paying attention. I caught that.
- 1:09:12Speaker 7: I mean, it is.
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: There's weird little moments. Again, maybe it's... Maybe this guy's
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: still kind of finding his footing on writing. Because some
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: of that is so basically like, let's make sure to
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: get this. That was the same thing with like the shot.
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: Like our opening thing is him getting a shot. I'm
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: afraid of needles. So like he's, it's just so heavy
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: handed about it. It's like you could put all that
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: stuff in there so that you want that. I mean, again,
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: that's to be a good writer. You have to make
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: sure you're covering your bases and all this stuff is
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: in there, but it's all so just ham fistedly shoved
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: in there.
- 1:09:46Speaker 5: It's not subtle.
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: It's not subtle at all, which is, Again, maybe if
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: it had time. Like if it was a two hour
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: movie and we slowly kind of worked this stuff in.
- 1:09:56Speaker 5: Maybe if they had edited down the make out scene
- 1:09:58Speaker 5: between Bella Thorne.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: Well, that's half the movie. What are you talking about?
- 1:10:01Speaker 5: Legit, dude. I'm like.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: Bella and babysitter girl got to bite each other's lips
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: for 20 minutes.
- 1:10:06Speaker 5: I'm like, dude, that's painful at this point. Let go.
- 1:10:09Speaker 5: I thought she was going to rip her damn face off.
- 1:10:12Speaker 5: And they're like, oh, it's so hot. I'm like, oh, stop.
- 1:10:16Speaker 5: You're crossing over into just. You know. And the shared gum.
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: I'd prefer the face licking the next guy.
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: No doubt.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: It's way better.
- 1:10:26Speaker 5: Or the chapstick. I think we've recapped this entire fucking movie.
- 1:10:32Speaker 10: Pretty much.
- 1:10:33Speaker 5: We haven't given away the complete ending, though. The very
- 1:10:36Speaker 5: last split-second ending.
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: Yeah, well, that just means maybe we can get another
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: one of these movies. Whether or not it will get
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: a little more attention in the writing part of it,
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:10:48Speaker 5: I was going to say the babysitter and that other
- 1:10:49Speaker 5: guy from that other movie could hook up, but then
- 1:10:51Speaker 5: I can't remember the name of the other movie, so....
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: What other movie?
- 1:10:55Speaker 5: Where the guy shows up, and he was the friend
- 1:10:58Speaker 5: of the family, and the guy's dead.
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: The Gift?
- 1:11:02Speaker 5: No.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: Isn't that kind of the same thing, though? No.
- 1:11:06Speaker 5: The guy who shows up, and he's living with him,
- 1:11:07Speaker 5: and he's doing favors for him, which involves hurting other people. Yeah,
- 1:11:12Speaker 5: you know what I'm going for.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: Because I really like that movie.
- 1:11:14Speaker 5: I did, too. But it has that same kind of
- 1:11:17Speaker 5: ending where it's like, ah.
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: It does, but that's a much better movie.
- 1:11:21Speaker 5: I love that movie. What's the name of it?
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: The Visitor?
- 1:11:26Speaker 5: No, it doesn't seem right either. It has that guy
- 1:11:28Speaker 5: who's only hot in that movie and then he's weird
- 1:11:29Speaker 5: looking and British and everything else. It also has that
- 1:11:33Speaker 5: girl from It Follows. Isn't that the girl from It Follows?
- 1:11:35Speaker 5: So you could just go to her page and then
- 1:11:36Speaker 5: go from there to there and just leapfrog across. The Guest.
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: See, I told you.
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: What did you say?
- 1:11:45Speaker 5: They said The Visitors. What did you say?
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: That is a movie. Did you say that again? I
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: told you it was something like that. It was like
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: it was there. It was in my head somewhere. It
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: was a word and one word with a the. It
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: was a guy that showed up like a guest or
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: a visitor. Anyway, yeah, that's what it came to as
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: I went into this too. That's why because I was
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: playing that same scenario of like why is this formula
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: working sometimes but not others? And I was like, maybe
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: it's just really hard to do all this stuff. And
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: I was like, no, I just saw one this year.
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: Like this past year, I saw one that worked. And
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: then it made me want to be a little bit
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: harder on the babysitter. Tragedy Girls. It is the perfect
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: mixture of it gets the comedy aspect of it right,
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: but it's still a horror movie. It knows how to, again,
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: it's not overly long. I feel like not really much
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: more than about an hour and a half on that one.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: But all of our characters feel real. They, I totally buy.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: And again, it knows like they're not the smartest characters.
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: Like they play some of those same dumb cards along
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: the way and are obsessed with pop culture. And they're,
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: they're always worried about their, their internet persona. So it's like,
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: it knows how to play that end of it, but
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: it fleshes out the characters really well. We get to
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: know them. I buy everything that they're doing as that character.
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: So it's like, again, Tyler McIntyre did a great job
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: and was co-writer on that too. So it's like, I
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: feel like if you get that and you can make
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: it kind of gel into one big thing, it just
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: makes it go to that next level and everything works.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: And I, so I mean, as well as I was
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: trying to kind of give the babysitter a pass because
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: it was fun. And then I remember that and I
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: was like, but it could have been that good. Like
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: it could have been like where everything fell together and,
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: and you actually got to know the characters and you
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: were invested in them and it was still funny. And I,
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: I think that was, again, why I got a little
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: harder on it.
- 1:13:41Speaker 5: You mean like the extended cut of this movie? You
- 1:13:43Speaker 5: mean like the extended McG version?
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: If I can come back in and we can cut
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: out the McG part, can I do like a director's
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: cut as the new director?
- 1:13:50Speaker 5: Would you cut out the E.T. fingers?
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: I think it needs a rewrite on that stuff. We
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: need something like that. That's the thing. I also feel
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: like we're supposed to feel like these two are super
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: connected and we get... They do what they can with
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: those short scenes, but, you know, we get a little
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: dance montage, we get them hanging out at the pool, but, like,
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: they immediately are already, like, knee-deep in this super tight
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: friendship that, like, we almost just have to buy that
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: that's there, because we almost don't get it from watching it.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: We're just seeing what, I don't know, I feel like
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: if it had a little more time that we totally
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: bought into, okay, these two really are friends, it's not
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: just a weird, creepy, like, I'm hanging out as your
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: babysitter and Sort of crossing a line by letting you
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: do whatever the hell you want and being a little too.
- 1:14:38Speaker 5: Cool, maybe.
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: So, I don't know. I feel like if that had
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: a little more time to develop in the beginning, we
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: might buy some of the stuff that goes on later.
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: And how long does she invest in this? Because, I mean.
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: Yeah, how long has she been his babysitter to build
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: this scenario up? And how long had she been doing this?
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: Because he always fell asleep. So, had she been bringing
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: people there all this time and taking blood from him.
- 1:15:03Speaker 5: For a while?
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: Because he'd always stayed asleep before, so he may not
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: have known he was being used as the innocent.
- 1:15:10Speaker 5: But she wasn't drugging him. I don't know if she
- 1:15:11Speaker 5: was drugging him before.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: Didn't she usually give him a drink, though? Because I
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: thought she referenced it like she'd done it in the past, too.
- 1:15:19Speaker 5: I don't remember.
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: I don't know. Again, there's potential for all that stuff there,
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: but it just kind of gets a grazed version on
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: this one.
- 1:15:29Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:15:32Speaker 5: Overall, I enjoyed this movie. It's fun. Don't expect too
- 1:15:34Speaker 5: much out of it, but it's a good brief watch.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: It is fun.
- 1:15:40Speaker 5: Shirtless Guy's hot.
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: Shirtless Guy's pretty entertaining, I gotta say.
- 1:15:43Speaker 5: He's pretty funny. I could watch an entire movie of
- 1:15:45Speaker 5: Shirtless Guy.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: Shirtless Guy was pretty funny. I don't know who has
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: a multitude of tarantulas living under their house.
- 1:15:54Speaker 5: No doubt, dude. Where the fuck are you living? That's
- 1:15:56Speaker 5: all you have under your house is like 48 tarantulas.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: Somewhere in South America, maybe?
- 1:16:01Speaker 5: They're not even, like, tiny little spiders or, like, house spiders. They're, like, full.
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: They're all tarantulas.
- 1:16:05Speaker 5: They're all, like, fist-sized fucking tarantulas. And I'm like, who
- 1:16:08Speaker 5: the fuck is crawling around down there, first of all?
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: His mom.
- 1:16:11Speaker 5: Leslie did. I mean, seriously, dude. Bitch gets all whiny
- 1:16:16Speaker 5: about Halloween. You're gonna let her crawl under a house
- 1:16:18Speaker 5: with spiders?
- 1:16:21Speaker 8: Oh, what?
- 1:16:21Speaker 5: She was the girlfriend slash wife, whatever she was, and
- 1:16:24Speaker 5: took her treat.
- 1:16:25Speaker 8: Oh.
- 1:16:27Speaker 5: Gonna hate Halloween, but you're gonna crawl around with spiders?
- 1:16:29Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: What?
- 1:16:33Speaker 6: I thought she looked familiar.
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: I was trying to figure out who she was. Yeah,
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: it was one of those. I knew I'd seen her
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: in like probably 12 things before this because she's super familiar.
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: And pretty cute for the mom.
- 1:16:43Speaker 5: Good times for her head.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: Two.
- 1:16:47Speaker 5: Oh, one and a half thumbs up.
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: One nubby thumb up.
- 1:16:53Speaker 5: One partially decapitated thumb up.
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: Did it get blowed off in the explosion?
- 1:16:57Speaker 6: Let's put it this way. I didn't put my phone
- 1:16:59Speaker 6: down for this film.
- 1:17:01Speaker 5: But you did look up sporadically.
- 1:17:02Speaker 6: But I did look up sporadically.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: Well, let's put that on the Netflix banner.
- 1:17:08Speaker 9: It gets one thumb on Messenger and the other thumb
- 1:17:12Speaker 9: looking at the TV.
- 1:17:13Speaker 5: Your thumb was looking at the TV.
- 1:17:14Speaker 6: Yeah, it's got an eye.
- 1:17:17Speaker 5: Weirdo.
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: I think that's a different Netflix movie they're working on
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: right now. Thumb eye.
- 1:17:22Speaker 5: That's dumb.
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: Thumb eye.
- 1:17:24Speaker 5: That's a horrible idea. Don't say it out loud.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: Is it really any worse than some of the stuff
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: we've seen? Oh yeah, I forgot. Some of the other
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: cheesy McG moves. Again, the reason that it's so just
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: aping Tarantino, like the one part he's using, like he's
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: playing a Dusty Springfield song, so the music choices are
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: already kind of doing the same. I mean, that's one
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: of the artists that Tarantino goes to. And he does
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: that little move with the girl and her foot like
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: it's almost exactly the uma thurman pulp fiction move with
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: her foot like it's shot from behind and she's standing
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: there and does that weird little thing and that's all
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: you see is her like sit her foot up like
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: that it's straight out it's straight up copying pulp fiction
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: i'm just like if you're different like if you're a
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: different era of filmmaker you can almost do that kind
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: of homage thing but like you're not that far off
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: like you were making movies in the 90s when tarantino
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: was playing In this one, it's playing spooky, and then
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: it's son of a preacher man is Pulp Fiction, so
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: it's like he's already using one Tarantino card, and then
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: he plays a really heavy visual, and I'm just like that's,
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: you know, you're almost, I don't really mean this, but
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: you're almost contemporaries. You both came up making movies in
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: that same time. One of you just became a film
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: genius and the other's a McG. So it is like,
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: it's not really, it's weird to me to be playing
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: it almost as like, this is my homage to Tarantino. Because,
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: you know, if you're an homage to Hitchcock, that's one thing.
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: It's a different era. But when you're kind of making
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: movies at the same time, isn't it kind of weird
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: to start kind of scamming off of I didn't mind
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: I just thought that was a weird move like again
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: I think he's definitely got skill I mean he's been
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: making music videos forever like he knows what he's doing
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: so the fact that he can do other stuff but
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: he does the super heavy handed like all of the
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: weird POV stuff of like where he's like when the
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: babysitter shows up and we're looking at it through the
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: kid's eyes And then it switches out and then we
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: get a weird camera attached to the kid shots. So
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: it's like he's going over the top with these crazy
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: camera moves of like now the camera's jumping around because
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: it's attached.
- 1:19:48Speaker 5: It's not consistent.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: It's not. Like we never know what, like it just
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: keeps switching. Again, it's almost like it's a music video.
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: It's like he's got to show off all these cool
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: things I can do. And I'm like, but you're not
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: an up and coming music video director. You've been doing
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: this for years and years. Like you should have a
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: little more finesse by now to be able to like
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: have your own visual style, not. here's a lot of
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: cool tricks that I saw one time in film school,
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: but like, I don't really know how to cohesively put
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: them into one project. I don't know. I still, and
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: maybe I'm just annoyed because he calls himself Big G.
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: I think that's like nine.
- 1:20:24Speaker 5: It's part of his middle name.
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: Yeah. It still seems like a douchey move.
- 1:20:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: He seems like he'd drive that car. I don't know.
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: But again, it's fun.
- 1:20:40Speaker 5: Good times.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: Good times were had by all.
- 1:20:42Speaker 5: Except for the girl who got shot in the boob.
- 1:20:45Speaker 5: I don't know. And then the head. Spoiler alert.
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: Didn't get shot in the head. It liquefied her head.
- 1:20:54Speaker 5: There's like brain bits all over the kid's face.
- 1:20:56Speaker 7: And I'm like.
- 1:21:00Speaker 5: I'm like, whoa, I didn't expect that.
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: I kind of figured we were going somewhere at that point.
- 1:21:06Speaker 5: But I didn't figure she would kill her own friend.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: I expected her to get shot at that point. I
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: didn't know that it would blow her head completely off,
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: but I assume between the two, she's still almost going
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: to side with the kid, but then have to figure
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: out what to do, which is sort of what happens,
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: but instead she liquefies her head.
- 1:21:25Speaker 5: Chunks everywhere. Yeah, pretty much. Why are you cutting the ropes, Cole?
- 1:21:29Speaker 5: Because I don't like being tied up. Why do you
- 1:21:31Speaker 5: have a pocket knife? It was a gift.
- 1:21:33Speaker 4: Oh my God.
- 1:21:34Speaker 5: He's still cutting the ropes. Determined little fucker, aren't ya?
- 1:21:37Speaker 11: Look, I won't tell anyone, okay?
- 1:21:43Speaker 6: You know me, I'm good with secrets.
- 1:21:45Speaker 8: I won't tell my parents that you guys were having
- 1:21:47Speaker 8: an orgy and needed my blood to do it.
- 1:21:49Speaker 12: Do you even know what an orgy is?
- 1:21:58Speaker 5: I'm guessing it's something sad people do because they want
- 1:22:01Speaker 5: other sad people to like them. And they can forget
- 1:22:04Speaker 5: for one minute how sad they are in general.
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: That's actually a pretty good answer. So did you have
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: other things? You remembered a thing you watched?
- 1:22:11Speaker 5: There was a movie I forgot that we watched that
- 1:22:13Speaker 5: I was completely underwhelmed with.
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:22:17Speaker 5: Which is going to be a very unpopular decision because
- 1:22:19Speaker 5: everybody else thinks it's a wonderful movie. And I saw
- 1:22:21Speaker 5: it and it just felt hollow to me and everybody
- 1:22:23Speaker 5: else is probably going to hate me for saying this.
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: I might disagree right now. What is it?
- 1:22:27Speaker 5: Wonder Woman.
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: I already disagree. I liked Wonder Woman.
- 1:22:32Speaker 5: It was okay. It felt hollow. It felt like it
- 1:22:35Speaker 5: was just all flips and twirls and slow motion kicks.
- 1:22:39Speaker 9: And a lot of flash and a lot of CG
- 1:22:42Speaker 9: and not a whole lot of story.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: Again, I discussed it on the episode. I don't like
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: that finale with the villain. Again, I think the go-to
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: villain at the end of almost all these superhero movies
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: is the generic CG cop-out. But I think everything up
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: to that with her.
- 1:23:00Speaker 6: She's fighting the sax man.
- 1:23:02Speaker 5: I mean, come on. The jazz man?
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: The jazz man, yeah.
- 1:23:07Speaker 5: He's from... He was on American Horror Story, and he
- 1:23:10Speaker 5: played the jazz man of New Orleans.
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: He was a serial killer.
- 1:23:13Speaker 5: The ax man of New Orleans.
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: The ax man.
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: Again, I feel like that guy, that aspect of it
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: is the weak part of that story. But I think
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: she does a great job with the character. I think
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: the direction is really good, and I think... There's potential
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: there that... I.
- 1:23:27Speaker 5: Didn't have a problem with her.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: I think she's really great.
- 1:23:31Speaker 5: It felt very hollow. It didn't feel like there was
- 1:23:34Speaker 5: enough character development for a lot of it.
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: I would have liked more. I won't argue that.
- 1:23:39Speaker 5: And it just seems like most of her and Chris
- 1:23:41Speaker 5: Pine's dialogue was just very thinly veiled innuendo that that's
- 1:23:44Speaker 5: all that they're... That's all they had was very, very,
- 1:23:47Speaker 5: very thinly veiled innuendo. It wasn't even veiled. It was
- 1:23:50Speaker 5: just like... And it was just like, really? It just
- 1:23:53Speaker 5: seems like there wasn't enough... bonding for them to be
- 1:23:58Speaker 5: like affected in any way you know what.
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: I mean it is weird because even going forward in
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: this most recent movie like she's still like it's weird
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: that that relationship is what messed her up so much
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: because i feel like they had a little bit of
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: time together i mean i guess to some extent it's
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: because she'd never been around the guy before and that's obviously,
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: you know, he's Chris Pine. She's into him, but it
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: is weird that like, to the point that she shuts
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: down as a human being, almost she's not really, but
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: as whatever deity that she is, like she shuts down
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: for like decades because of this, you know, deal with
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: this guy. And like, again, I think that's a weird
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: move setting it in that timeline. Like they did, because I,
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: I think she's a stronger character than that. And, should
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: be a stronger character to be able to overcome that
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: so it's weird that even now in modern times like
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: batman's pushing her of like you know what the hell's
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: up with you and this relationship and why you're closing
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: yourself up like that even comes up in the new
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: movie that just happened so like it's a long time
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: it's probably on blu-ray by.
- 1:25:04Speaker 5: Now the justice league movie yeah i didn't watch it
- 1:25:08Speaker 5: Zero fucks to give.
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: That's the main reason I wanted to watch it is
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: because Wonder Woman.
- 1:25:11Speaker 5: The only reason I wanted to watch it was Jason Momoa.
- 1:25:13Speaker 5: And then that died. The more trailers I've watched of his. Yeah.
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: He's a surfer bro.
- 1:25:21Speaker 5: He's lame.
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: He's so hot.
- 1:25:22Speaker 5: I don't even care.
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: He looks fine with the shirt off. Yes, he does.
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: There's nothing to him. If you want lack of character development,
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: that is a great example.
- 1:25:32Speaker 5: It's like I said. I had no problem with her
- 1:25:34Speaker 5: in particular. It just... It felt hollow. Like, it was all, like,
- 1:25:38Speaker 5: flash and very little substance for me. And I was...
- 1:25:41Speaker 5: Like I said, I was very disappointed. I didn't hate it.
- 1:25:43Speaker 5: I was just... Like I said, I was... That was
- 1:25:44Speaker 5: my thing. I was just like... I just felt underwhelmed.
- 1:25:47Speaker 5: I just... I had no desire to watch it again.
- 1:25:48Speaker 5: I had no... I don't need to go out and
- 1:25:50Speaker 5: buy this. We watched... We're one of the few people
- 1:25:53Speaker 5: in the world that actually still get the Netflix discs.
- 1:25:55Speaker 5: So it came in the mail. We mailed it back.
- 1:25:56Speaker 5: I'm like, I'm okay with it being gone. You know?
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: I just.
- 1:26:00Speaker 5: Everybody... I was... Everybody else made it seem like it
- 1:26:03Speaker 5: was like, oh, this is the best. I guess when
- 1:26:06Speaker 5: the rest of your movies from DC are as bad
- 1:26:08Speaker 5: as they are, this has got to be your crowning point.
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: That's the weird thing, because I don't want to do that.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: I don't want to be like, well, compared to the rest,
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: this is pretty good, because it should be a good
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: movie on its own, in and of itself. It needs
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: to be its own good movie, regardless of what other
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: crap Zack Snyder has put out. So I feel like...
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: to some extent you can say that. Like, look at
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: Batman v Superman and Man of Steel and compare this
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: and this thing is a work of art compared to
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: that nonsense. But, it should be able to stand on
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: its own Wonder Woman feet and be able to be
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: a good movie overall. I still think it is, but I, again,
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: I wished it had a little more and again, I
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: still kind of blame that on a lot of the
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: effects of having to be part of this previous line
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: of movies. The other people invested in taking it down
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: that line to lead to Justice League and all this
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: other nonsense. I think it would have been better off
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: if it would have been completely detached, but I think
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: she's a great character and I think Patty kind of
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: does a good job as far as director. Again, it's
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: probably more story issues.
- 1:27:13Speaker 5: I thought there would be more of Robin Wright's character.
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: No, but I was surprised that I was that impressed
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: with anything Robin Wright was doing, but also that it should,
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: that was quite a physical role for her at this point.
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: Like that was a weird move. I, I didn't expect that.
- 1:27:29Speaker 5: I just figured there'd be more.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: But her in No Man's Land, I can watch that
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: all day long. Once she goes out there in the
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: battlefield like that, those scenes are pretty amazing. So yeah,
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: I can see though. You're not the only one I
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: have heard other people that feel like they're in the
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: minority and weren't that thrilled with it.
- 1:27:50Speaker 5: Who else wasn't thrilled with it?
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: Do you want names? Yes.
- 1:27:56Speaker 5: People that I would know. Oh, okay.
- 1:28:00Speaker 6: This guy named Jack.
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: People and units.
- 1:28:04Speaker 5: You don't know him. I didn't even care enough to
- 1:28:08Speaker 5: dislike it. I was just underwhelmed. It was just like, yep,
- 1:28:11Speaker 5: we watched it. And I was like, boyfriend loves him
- 1:28:15Speaker 5: some Wonder Woman. Oh, yeah. Linda Carter. Only Linda Carter
- 1:28:19Speaker 5: Wonder Woman, though.
- 1:28:20Speaker 6: I grew up on that, though. Maybe that's why I'm
- 1:28:23Speaker 6: part of it. I'm kind of like, you know.
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: I think Gal holds her own. I think she's a pretty...
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: I didn't have a problem with her. No, I didn't
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: have a problem with her either.
- 1:28:32Speaker 5: And you know she's secretly a badass because.
- 1:28:33Speaker 6: Yeah, she's in the IDF.
- 1:28:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:28:36Speaker 5: So, I mean, she is a badass. And I didn't
- 1:28:39Speaker 5: have a problem with her.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: It's just, I don't know if.
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: It's the writing.
- 1:28:41Speaker 6: It was probably the writing.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: Again, yeah, if anything, because, again, I think the direction's
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: good too. So, if anything, it would probably fault the writing.
- 1:28:49Speaker 5: It just felt hollow. Yeah. Shiny, but with nothing, no
- 1:28:53Speaker 5: real substance to it. Lots of explosions. Like I said,
- 1:28:56Speaker 5: that movie was 98% jumping off horses. In slow motion.
- 1:29:01Speaker 5: Upside down kicks. That's what the movie was.
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: People like upside down kicks.
- 1:29:06Speaker 5: Anyways, completely underwhelmed. Have no desire to watch any other
- 1:29:09Speaker 5: DC movies.
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: I mean, that was the good ones. Like, you really
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: don't have a lot to work with.
- 1:29:15Speaker 6: Not really thrilled about the Affleck Batman.
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: I could care less. He's, again, he's the better part.
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: That's sad.
- 1:29:22Speaker 5: That's sad, right?
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a Fleck. It's okay.
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: He's bailing already anyway, so.
- 1:29:28Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: He wants out now, too, so.
- 1:29:29Speaker 5: Do you blame him? I mean, look at these movies,
- 1:29:31Speaker 5: they're shit. Zach.
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: And he's even not involved exactly now, so. It's a
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: weird scenario we're in, and I think DC doesn't know.
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: What to do.
- 1:29:41Speaker 6: They realize Marvel's kicking their ass.
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: Well, they've known that for a while, and we're trying
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: to counter it, but they were going about it the
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: wrong way.
- 1:29:48Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: Oh, well.
- 1:29:51Speaker 5: I'm disappointed. I can't think of anything else we've watched.
- 1:29:54Speaker 5: I'll remember it five minutes after you leave. Like, son
- 1:29:57Speaker 5: of a bitch, we watched this, because that's exactly what
- 1:29:58Speaker 5: happened last time after we recorded. I'm like, we watched
- 1:30:01Speaker 5: that Channel Zero show, so I've been holding on to
- 1:30:04Speaker 5: that one for months now.
- 1:30:06Speaker 6: I mean, how many movies did you watch when I
- 1:30:08Speaker 6: went to class?
- 1:30:09Speaker 5: Not that many, because by the time I ate dinner
- 1:30:11Speaker 5: and watched Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, you were home already.
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: So you're a retiree, is what you're saying. What are
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: you talking about? I watched my Jeopardy and my Wheel
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: of Fortune, and it's time for bed.
- 1:30:21Speaker 5: It's actually Wheel of Fortune and then Jeopardy. By the
- 1:30:25Speaker 5: time you would get home, there wasn't enough time, so
- 1:30:26Speaker 5: I usually pause it, make my dinner, so I'm not
- 1:30:29Speaker 5: done watching Jeopardy until like 8.30. And time for bed. Dude,
- 1:30:34Speaker 5: you don't even know. During the past month, it was
- 1:30:37Speaker 5: a rough struggle.
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: That's true. It is a different world during the season.
- 1:30:44Speaker 5: Shitty world.
- 1:30:46Speaker 6: World of packages and labels.
- 1:30:49Speaker 5: And miseries and woes.
- 1:30:51Speaker 6: Mislabels.
- 1:30:52Speaker 5: And pizza.
- 1:30:55Speaker 6: Dumb supervisors.
- 1:30:58Speaker 5: The worst. Hmm. I had so many fits this year,
- 1:31:02Speaker 5: it was fucking ridiculous. I used all of them.
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: I believe it.
- 1:31:05Speaker 5: I used several of the bad words, not all of them,
- 1:31:07Speaker 5: because that would make his little head explode. His braces
- 1:31:09Speaker 5: would go flying off. Good times.
- 1:31:15Speaker 6: So in other words, you couldn't talk to him normally.
- 1:31:18Speaker 5: I mean, I used the bit. I mean, I said
- 1:31:20Speaker 5: fuck a lot.
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: That's pretty standard, yeah.
- 1:31:22Speaker 5: But I didn't, like, call him a little cunt or anything.
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: This time. Yet.
- 1:31:29Speaker 5: The year's not over! Actually, yeah, it will be over
- 1:31:31Speaker 5: by the time I go back to work. Well, technically,
- 1:31:34Speaker 5: you're right.
- 1:31:34Speaker 6: It's not over.
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: You can call him up now.
- 1:31:36Speaker 5: I can text him.
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: Hey, by the way, just wanted to let you know.
- 1:31:39Speaker 5: You're a little cunt, and I don't like you.
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: So, as we move into this new year, do you
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: have any wonderful plans? Do you have hopes and dreams
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: for the next year?
- 1:31:52Speaker 5: The only hopes I have so far and plans are
- 1:31:55Speaker 5: to watch the Twilight Zone Marathon on the CIFI channel.
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: That is a given.
- 1:31:59Speaker 5: I'm hoping they aren't going to break tradition, that it'll
- 1:32:01Speaker 5: be on. I haven't checked. I'm going to assume it's
- 1:32:03Speaker 5: going to be on. Aside from their one-hour break for
- 1:32:05Speaker 5: their play fucking wrestling.
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: I was going to say, I hope they get some
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: wrestling in there.
- 1:32:08Speaker 6: Doesn't make any sense at all.
- 1:32:10Speaker 5: How are you going to have a Twilight Zone marathon
- 1:32:12Speaker 5: and then shove some fucking Rasslin in there?
- 1:32:14Speaker 6: Because that's what they want.
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: Because they have a contract probably. I'm assuming they have
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: to play it every week at that time or they
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: get in trouble.
- 1:32:21Speaker 6: It's not even the same two fan bases. That doesn't
- 1:32:24Speaker 6: make any sense at all.
- 1:32:25Speaker 5: I mean, Rasslin is kind of sci-fi.
- 1:32:28Speaker 9: They might as well shove college basketball in there.
- 1:32:31Speaker 5: Or football.
- 1:32:32Speaker 6: Or football.
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: And then some cooking shows. Yeah. Let's get this really
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: making sense. Oh, no way. None of these are logical moves.
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: So that's what we hope you all did on your
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: new venture into the new year.
- 1:32:52Speaker 5: Twilight Zone. Killing you, dude. Best show ever. One of
- 1:32:55Speaker 5: the best shows. Top five.
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: It was just Rod's birthday.
- 1:33:00Speaker 5: I love me some Rod Serling. He's on my arm
- 1:33:03Speaker 5: in case anybody out there doesn't know him and he
- 1:33:05Speaker 5: looks good.
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: He creeps you out every day of your life.
- 1:33:09Speaker 5: He does not.
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: He's a creepy dude. That's his job. He's got a,
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: he's a cool dude. He's the reason the gravity falls
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: of the world exists now. Cause he was forging that
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: territory back in the day.
- 1:33:20Speaker 5: He made me less afraid of death at anything that
- 1:33:22Speaker 5: can do that. Cause I'm, I'm, I've no, I've said
- 1:33:26Speaker 5: this last year and I'll probably say it again. I'm
- 1:33:28Speaker 5: absolutely terrified of dying, but if young Robert Redford is
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: what comes to get me when I die, maybe I'll
- 1:33:32Speaker 5: be okay with it. But then again, I'm like, if, if,
- 1:33:37Speaker 5: If death knows that young Robert Redford is what I'm
- 1:33:39Speaker 5: waiting for, what's it going to come as?
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: Old Robert Redford.
- 1:33:44Speaker 5: It can't trick me with young Robert Redford, because if
- 1:33:47Speaker 5: I know that's what's coming, then.
- 1:33:49Speaker 6: But it knows that you'd be okay with it.
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: It'll be like Winter Soldier Robert Redford. It'll just be like, yep,
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: this is what you get.
- 1:33:59Speaker 9: An old man you didn't specify time for you to
- 1:34:02Speaker 9: go you didn't specify.
- 1:34:04Speaker 5: I did specify young Robert Redford I've always specified.
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: But I get I reserve the right to screw with
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: people at the end of their.
- 1:34:13Speaker 5: Days I don't want that I would not be that
- 1:34:16Speaker 5: death I would not be okay with I would fight
- 1:34:18Speaker 5: that death and Robert Redford old I could probably.
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: Take see I'm assuming when I get to the end
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: I'm hoping it's death from Bill and Ted's bogus journey
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: And we can play games. William Sadler does a pretty
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: good death, I gotta say. The highlight of that movie.
- 1:34:36Speaker 3: Death.
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: Could be taken a little more negatively than I actually
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: mean it. Alright, so that's where we're headed in this
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: new year. The highlight is death.
- 1:34:49Speaker 5: Twilight Zone.
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: And Twilight Zone.
- 1:34:51Speaker 5: Young Robert Redford. Fucking gorgeous.
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: Young Rod Serling.
- 1:34:56Speaker 5: Any Rod Serling. I ain't even picky when it comes
- 1:35:00Speaker 5: to Rod Serling. Give me Night Gallery Rod Serling. I
- 1:35:04Speaker 5: don't even care.
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: He's still pretty damn cool.
- 1:35:06Speaker 5: He is, dude.
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: He's always cool. That having been said. Otherwise, I'd say
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: that about does it. We will return next time. Same
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:35:26Speaker 2: We'll be right back. She says come out fast, it's
- 1:35:33Speaker 2: all right On the couch with my special one Put
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: some timid that we won't have fun On the couch
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: with my special one Put some timid that we won't
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: have fun She says she's been listening to you now
- 1:35:58Speaker 2: She says, come on, love is all right. Yeah, you
- 1:36:04Speaker 2: know we'll have the TV on. Are we glad that
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: the folks are gone?
- 1:36:12Speaker 3: Yeah, you know we'll.
- 1:36:13Speaker 2: Have the TV on. Are we glad that the folks
- 1:36:18Speaker 2: are gone? We can't start kissing, and I'll tell you why.
- 1:36:46Speaker 2: We can't start kissing just to get the lips back.
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: She says she's famous internet. She says, come on, it's
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: all right. On the couch with the virtual world. But
- 1:37:17Speaker 2: don't tell me.
- 1:37:17Speaker 3: That we won't have fun.
- 1:37:20Speaker 2: Yeah, you know we'll have the TV on. Are we
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: glad that the folks are gone? She says she's babysitting.
- 1:37:33Speaker 2: She says, come over, it's all right She says, you've.
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: Made the city dinner.
- 1:37:47Speaker 2: She says, come.
- 1:37:48Speaker 6: Over, it's all right.
- 1:37:56Speaker 5: No, because when you said that, my supervisor always said,
- 1:38:00Speaker 5: every morning, he says, well, with that being said, at
- 1:38:02Speaker 5: least five times. And we're like, if we can make
- 1:38:04Speaker 5: this into a drinking game, with that being said, with
- 1:38:06Speaker 5: that being said, with that being said, I'm like, dude,
- 1:38:09Speaker 5: shut the fuck up. You just said it. You don't
- 1:38:11Speaker 5: need to say that. That was just said because you
- 1:38:13Speaker 5: just said it.
- 1:38:14Speaker 4: Shut up.
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: That ain't even said. Let's get out of here.
- 1:38:19Speaker 5: Like legit, dude. I hate that guy. I'll punch him
- 1:38:23Speaker 5: in his face. Stupid cunt face.
