- Courtney Her Mind On Mission: Hello and welcome back to the Mission for More podcast. I'm your host Courtney, the face behind her mind on Mission on social media. And today I am just sitting here with so much expectancy and such an eagerness. I have to tell you something that happened. So I have just felt a lot of pressure and I have shared a little bit here and there just about being pulled in different directions, bigger kids at home, bigger conversations and a lot going on at work and really just trying to steward everything well that I have sitting in front of me and just been praying for clarity. So I had a two. appointment like back-to-back cancellation at work and just really felt this nudge from the Lord to give him that time. During that exact same time frame my husband was praying that I would get some time with the Lord and that I would receive clarity. And the number one area that I received clarity in on that day was all of my social media and the podcast and really just this shifting in what I felt in my heart just to really bring more tangible tools to all of you. I'm so grateful for everybody who has tuned in and been listening and really just been taking the biblical truth and the practical application and that is not going anywhere. But I do feel like there's this overwhelming theme from so many women, from all of the feedback, from people that I talk to that aren't even in the Holy Habits Challenge. It's just a theme right now that... I can't get consistent. I don't know how to do this. Everything sounds right or I'll write it down or I know what I need to do. But then it's like we hit this dead end and we can't figure out like how did I get on this street and how do I get back to where I need to go and like which path now do I take. And so I am working so hard to bring everything. that the Lord has put on my heart underneath one umbrella and really shift us in that direction to continue with the biblical truth and the practical application, but within that practical application to give us tools and to really unify the language surrounding everything so that when you hear something and you're working on your health or you're working on your home or you're working on things going on in your heart and you're just trying to receive freedom from the Lord in a certain area. that these things will be constant reminders for you to just continue to turn back to the word, to sit at the feet of Jesus, to surrender to Him and to move forward as He has called you. And so I just wanted to share that snippet with you and kind of go into a little bit more of that today on today's episode. Okay, so I on Instagram have changed the name of the free community. There's like a chat thread. It's very interesting. You can't like respond back, but I can send audio messages, prayers, do like a poll and just get you guys engaged that way or let you know of new things that are coming up. And I had changed that to the rooted woman connection because that is a connection point for you to be able to stay in the loop to know what's going on and to be able to hear about all the updates to come. Now we are going to be going into this Rooted Woman audio series that is going to go along with the Rooted Woman, which is the new overarching, all-encompassing ⁓ that I have on my website for ⁓ woman to get plugged in, for every woman to be able to habit stack and to find rhythms in her life ⁓ to steward her home and her heart and her marriage ⁓ children and all of the things well. ⁓ through some very similar themes that will be woven in through that over time. And so I'm just very excited. And like I said earlier, just expectant to be able to see all that the Lord is doing and to really like take a deep breath with me. Doesn't that feel amazing? Like I think that we need more deep exhales in our life, that we need more space to just like, ⁓ and process and not like, ⁓ and grunt and groan and complain, but and process and let things roll off our shoulders. Let us surrender it to the Lord in a deeper way and let us move forward with connection with the Lord, connection with community and connection with our identity, really recognizing who does God say that I am? not who does social media say that I need to be or who is my husband expecting me to be or who do my kids need me to show up as, but really who is the Lord calling me to be? Who does he say that I am? And let me connect with that before I do anything else, before I go in any other direction and see how it changes my entire life. And that is really the message that I have been trying to encapsulate in so much of what I have shared over the last year. is being able to recognize your worth and your identity as a daughter of the Most High King and to let everything overflow from that because I know what it's like to be overwhelmed. I know what it's like to stress and strive and to work and to try and like just, you know, white knuckle your way through and it is miserable and you feel like, okay, I'm getting close to the end and then something else happens and you're like, now I'm back to my breaking point and it's this constant like tip toe on the edge of a cliff. when we could be admiring the view instead. And the turning point in that is really just the creator and being able to see all that he's doing in all of it. And I want you to know this core theme that is going to be happening is not about becoming perfect or revamping your life. And we've been talking about this for months now in different ways, but really becoming rooted. I want to stick to that word rooted. I had done a TikTok live ⁓ man, I don't even know when it was. It was forever ago, like closer to the beginning of maybe the second or third challenge that we did. And I had called that rooted something. It was something about being rooted. But this word rooted has really just stuck out to me. And like when you think rooted, you are planted. And I want to be rooted in the word and I want to be planted in the Lord's hands. And I want to grow from all the things that he is doing, not from what I am doing. And I've just been trying to get this like, tangible way for women to be able to see that because my DMs are always, do you blank? How did you lose this weight? How do you handle everything you're doing? How do you come up with these ideas? How are you juggling a podcast and social media while working? How do you homeschool your kids while working? How do you blank, blank, like fill in the blank? And how do you do it without getting overwhelmed? And how do you do it without being stressed out? I want you to know, number one, I don't do anything in any great measure without the Lord. And that is my like the biggest thing. But also I am trying so hard to be so rooted that I don't say yes to the things that. are not for me, that I say no when I need to say no and I don't feel guilt or shame about it because if the Lord tells me that that's not an opportunity to take at this time, I don't feel led to go in that direction, I'm praying about it and I just don't have that, like I pray all the time, ⁓ make it sweet like honey, let me desire it if it is from you Lord and make it like gravel in my mouth that I want to spit out if it is not from you. And that is just like constantly a prayer in my life, it has been for the past 10 years now. And really just being able to lock in and hone in on that and recognize where I need to move and move forward and say yes and give excellence and steward well versus where I need to pull back and say I'm going to set this down or this is a no for right now or you know this is a no moving forward like I'm just not doing this thing anymore or whatever that shift is and really just being led by the Lord in it. And I think so often we think about everything as discipline and I talk about discipline. on my channel, I talk about discipline on my social media and we think that the problem is lacking discipline but I think sometimes we try to grow in discipline while we are completely depleted. Like we are completely depleted and that is what I'm hearing from so many women and it just, it breaks my heart because we're trying so hard to do all the things that we think that we need to do that society tells us that we need to do this pressure that honestly most of the time we put on ourselves. it comes from a place of seeing all these things on social media. Okay, I must need to do that. I must need to do this. I must need to move in this direction and we put this pressure or we succumb to this pressure and we are completely depleted and we are completely exhausted and we are completely overwhelmed and then from so many women over and over and over again, I have heard the words, I am so overwhelmed by all the things that I'm not doing that I don't even think I can get started. or I'm so depleted or I'm so exhausted that I can't even take that first step. That is not the portion from the Lord. Do you think the Lord wants us to be depleted, to be exhausted, to be unable to say yes to the opportunities that he has for us, the things that he's calling us to, to grow in grace that his plans for us are to grow, are to be more sanctified, to lean into those convictions, to be able to steward well? If we can't think about even how to do any of that, because we're so overwhelmed and we're so depleted, that is an attack of the enemy right there. And I am sick of it. I'm sick of seeing women who are so stuck in their tracks that they cannot take one step forward to get out of that place because of depression, because of anxiety, because they're depleted, because they're exhausted, because they are so overwhelmed that they can't see past this muck that they are stuck in right now. and I'm done with it. And so I have been praying about it and I have sought the Lord and I know the direction that we're going in on this podcast. This is gonna be a 12 week series. This is just intro, intro to the series today. A 12 week series to dive deeper into this. I've got new things coming out. I want to give more value on social media. You know, I value my time and so obviously there are price points on certain things and you know, the Holy Habits Challenge has always been free because I just really want to open my arms. to women everywhere and give everyone like the biggest. virtual hug for right now until hopefully one day I can meet many people in person but to get the biggest virtual hug and say we've got this and to join together and to do it but there's more than that there's more than challenges there are tips and tricks and things that I know as a behavior analyst as a mama for as a working mom that homeschools as a wife as somebody who's gone through healing as someone who has worked her way out of the overwhelmed and overwhelmed and I can you know get myself out of it if I get back into it and so I want to really really Like I'm gonna be taking a self audit so I can really find the formula of everything that has worked for me in these different situations because I've got like the overarching formula. And that has been something that's been available to everybody on my social media, in the accountability group, on the podcast, know, in the courses, because it is just who I am and I want to give that to everybody if I can. But. There's more and there's more specifics and there's more from the Lord. I mean, this is the Mission for More podcast and there is more and the Lord has just dropped so much more on my heart. And so I'm so excited for the woman that really loves God deeply, but you feel so tired that you can't move forward towards the trajectory that he is pointing you in and you feel just gripped. crippled by the enemy or stuck like I said and we're gonna move forward together and I really pray that over the next 12 weeks this series in conjunction with ongoing holy habits challenges and the resources to come and the the connections that are being made even on social media for me connecting with people to be able to bring in more resources it has just been so rich and I want to be able to give you a piece of that so here's a taste of what I've been planning and I'm just praying that it will bless you I want to talk a little bit about like the the why, which I kind of touched on of the series, but really just like this is not about, I want you to hear this so clearly, this is not about having extreme resets in your life. To have a fast, have a cleanse, to have a overhaul, to rework your schedule. Yeah, we do those things, but that is supposed to be a pivotal point. It's not supposed to be an overhaul. We're trying to overhaul and then we feel overwhelmed because we're overhauling all these areas of our lives and nobody can do it all at once. I always say that, you know, that Craig Rochelle quote that I love so much, successful people do consistently what other people do occasionally. If you want to be successful in something, you need to be consistent. How do you be consistent when you're trying to be consistent in a hundred things at once? It just doesn't work. And you're trying so hard and it's like, why do I feel so exhausted? Why am I still so depleted? I'm like moving in the right direction because you're doing it all at once. Focus on one thing. I'm supposed to be taking all these vitamins. You guys, my... Thyroid has been off, my vitamin D, my B12, my iron. I can't do it. I cannot take all of these vitamins and do all of this all at once. So I'm focusing on the vitamin D. My vitamin D is the lowest. So like take the vitamin D. Just take the vitamin D and drink your water. And now because my vitamin D and my B12 are next to each other, I will take my vitamin D and B12 together. And then I'm drinking more water, because I'm taking my supplements and I don't like the way things taste and I wanna like flush it down. So I'm drinking more water. And now I'm gonna work on adding in the iron. I did not do this over, I'm not gonna be. supplement stacking overnight. First of all, my body doesn't like when I do that. You throw everything at it at once and it's like, whoa, alert, alert. Like this is a lot. So I'm doing one thing at a time and I want to normalize that. Why are we not normalizing on social media, in society, in our culture, being excellent at one thing at a time, moving forward in small shifts and changes? Why are we not talking about that? Everyone wants the big aha moment, but you're not going to even get there if we can't recognize the small shifts that we need to make. We don't need extremes. We don't need resets. We need roots. And that's where this whole entire series comes from. We need roots. I'm going to tell you there was a season where I was struggling, struggling, and I did not have roots. I knew the Lord. I wanted more of the Lord, but I did not have deep roots in Him. I did not have roots in my routine. I did not have roots in a friend group. I had no roots anywhere. I had just moved back home after college. There's just so many transitions in my life and I felt like I was just blown around in the wind and I had no landing point. I had no comfort zone. I had no security and I didn't know my worth or identity in the Lord and I constantly questioned everything going on around me. And then you shift into the season when my son, I always use this season because it was truly a test ⁓ the season where my son was born and he had to go into open heart surgery at three days old. And I look back at that in that season all the time because I'm like, man, if I had gone through that just a few years earlier when I was blowing around in the wind, how hard would that have been? It would have completely wrecked me. It would have taken me out. I don't think I would have been able to show up for my son or my other two children or my husband the way that I did if I did not have roots. But I took that time after that season where I felt like I was blowing around and I developed these deep roots in all these different areas and I'm continuing to. You roots, you don't just like grow roots once and then leave them there. No, they start as these little dangly roots and then they get stronger and stronger over time as you continue with that consistency and nourishment over all those areas of your life, AKA stewarding it well. And so over time I saw those grow and it was just that pivotal moment there in my life where I'm like, wow. I really am becoming more rooted because I don't feel like I'm blowing around in the wind. This is different. And that became the point really that I started praying about all of this. How do I share this with people? How do I take what just happened? Because I was getting questions like, how did you handle that the way that you did? And I wanted to be able to answer but I didn't know because I'm just like, I don't know these things shifted in my life. slowly over time and then it didn't happen overnight. It wasn't like a wow I did ABC and then I was done. No I went through the whole alphabet probably twice to be able to get to that point and so I want to be able now that I have taken time it has been almost four years of really processing how How do I give this to other people? How do I share this with other women? It has been a year since God called me to start sharing that. And I'm just so excited to be back in this place to share it with you in a more meaningful and intentional way with more clarity than I feel like I have ever had before. So what does it mean to be rooted? When we go through this series, when I share more things on social media, when I talk about being rooted, what am I saying? A rooted woman, she is anchored. When you think about being anchored, you're not floating around all over the place. Like you are, maybe you drift a little bit, right? But you're like in this one spot. You are anchored. You are not frantically running around, constantly stressed, feeling like your heart is in your throat. You are not that. You are anchored, okay? You have rhythms. not strict routines or extremes. This is the way that I try to explain it. You feel like you're dancing with the Lord in the coming and going of every single day, in the coming and going of seasons, in the coming and going of transitions and changes or a new workplace or another baby or a shift in your marriage or financial things. You feel like you're dancing with the Lord. maybe something goes a little bit wrong, right? So I gave this example when I was sharing with a friend about these changes coming and just like wanting somebody's feedback. So I like to share and get feedback before I do it to make sure it actually sounds the way that I'm looking for it to sound. It's landing in hearts the way that I want it to land. And so I shared and I was explaining like, you know, when you're on the dance floor with somebody and let's just say you step on your partner's foot or your partner steps on your foot, you're not like, ⁓ my goodness, I can't dance. And you, you know, run off the dance floor and you're stomping, you're crying, you're causing a whole dance scene, that's frantic. That's extreme. That is not what happens when we're dancing. We just move and we get right back into it or we giggle. We're like, ⁓ I'm so sorry, you know, or we're a little embarrassed like oops, sorry. Think about that with the Lord. Like think about this dancing in step and maybe sometimes you're stepping on toes or you're off beat. but you just get right back into it because when you think about dancing, you have a partner, you have a lead, right? The Lord is our lead in that dancing. And I just think that is just so beautiful to think about things as a rhythm, rather thinking about it as like this strict routine that you have to adhere to. And if you don't adhere to it, you're a failure. No, a rhythm says, okay, like my husband and I literally did take dance classes before we were gifted a dance class from our marriage class leaders that when we were leading at marriage class, they brought all the leaders and we did this dance class. and then we were able to sign up for another dance class. we took that and went on a date night solo after that class retreat thing. just like, in the beginning, we're learning these steps and these positions and these things. We are not learning an entire dance all at once. He's not swinging me around the room all at once. We are learning the basic Bach step, okay? And I want you to think about that. When I'm talking about being rooted, We're being anchored, right? I'm talking about rhythms not routines and I'm talking about building things slowly If you I'm telling you you look around many of the the areas where I live We used to be cornfields they are now Homes and in neighborhoods and these houses are going up so fast and there are cracks in the foundations and I walked through many of them because we were looking for a home not too long ago and so before we moved in here I walked through a lot of new builds And I would feel like I was getting seasick in some of the houses because the foundation was so bad. It literally like you could feel where the house was tilted and the doors are like falling off the hinges and just I mean you open one door and now you can't close it the same way or you see that the doors are not lined up. That's what happens when we build really quickly. We're not building efficiently. We're not building with excellence. We're building and things are unsteady and they're breaking. I don't want to build like that. That's what we think. that overnight success requires. But what true success requires is building slowly, focusing on first the box step, okay? And then building up to the full dance routine. And I want you to keep that in the back of your mind as we go through this Rooted Women audio series and as I share more on social media because I'm telling you, you will see how... much easier it is to be connected with the Lord when you are building slowly. And that's another thing that, you know, when I'm talking about what it means to be rooted, that's another part of it, is just staying connected to God. You should feel like you've got a lifeline with the Lord all day long. And I think some people feel like they've got it in the morning or they've got it in the evening or maybe on the drive to work, but everywhere else in their life, he's absent. And we need to work on that because that is not truly being rooted. And when we make that shift, we learn what faithfulness really looks like in real life. Okay, real life, real circumstances, real highs and lows, mountains and valleys, okay? And we are not succumbing to the pressure of the ebbing and flowing in our lives anymore. We're not hustling, we're not trying to be perfect, we're not trying to have a like quote unquote pretty or aesthetic routine. We are literally just showing up, staying connected to the Lord, staying anchored in His word and in His truth, being literally in the palm of His hand. Stepping in rhythm with him and not these extremes and building things slowly and trusting that he is going to lead and guide in the process I think so many people feel like they're missing him because we are missing him in the process of what we are building and then we start to feel that overwhelmed come overwhelm my goodness overwhelm come in I want to think about this too when you picture just like really strong roots I've talked about roots before on the podcast to and shared like the way that the trees are planted in my subdivision You'll have to go a few episodes back But when roots really grow deep and they are sturdy and they are thick, like think about like that big picture of a tree that's been there for hundreds of years, right? And the roots are so, so, so thick. Rooted things, they grow slow, but they are strong. They are strong when they grow slow because they've got the nourishment that helps them to have that growth. And that nourishment that they have is a lasting nourishment. And so I want you to just to have that picture in your mind as we go through this. A couple things that we'll be talking about as we go through this series, we're gonna talk about topics like survival mode and what it means to get out of that and move into rest. Talking about overwhelm and being able to move in the overflow of God, having God be the center of everything and fill you up so much all the time, because like I said, he's your lifeline and when he's your lifeline and you stay connected to him, you cannot run on empty. And so we get out of the overwhelm and we move into the overflow. We will talk a little bit about nervous system regulation and stewarding our bodies well and being mindful when we feel that rising feeling of our heart coming into our throat or it's like beating out of our chest and really being aware of that so that we know when we are over committing or doing things without the Lord being our strength and we're trying to do it in our own strength. We'll talk a lot about the holy habits and even about motherhood and just commitments as women that we have and priorities as women that we have. I'm gonna definitely touch on emotional exhaustion because that's a huge one. Talking about faithfulness even when you're in a low capacity season, okay? Talking to the newborn moms. I'm talking to those people who are taking care of your moms right now I'm talking to those who are going through hardships in your marriage and maybe your capacity is feeling low Just because it feels low doesn't mean that you can't experience the faithfulness of the father in that season We're gonna talk about that We're gonna talk about simplifying things so that you can really live life to its fullest We think simplifying means like pulling back. ⁓ it sounds boring No, when we simplify we can really experience the Lord in his fullness and I want us to be able to experience that so that we can go out and live life to the fullest. We're going to talk about ⁓ Just having more peace in our hearts and our homes and what that looks like to be able to slow down I think we're constantly doing everything at 10x speed sometimes and we need to recognize where we need to slow down Where can we slow down and what does that look like to? Be able to have a slower pace in our life and then really just building consistency from a place of grace and not a place of shame because I know that so many women shame themselves into trying to be consistent and that's why we fail because eventually we feel so ashamed and we feel so down that we just give up and so when you have grace-filled consistency in your life, you want to keep going because you recognize the grace is there and you can pick up where you left off instead of continuously restarting every single time. So I want to invite you in, be a part of this journey. I want you to stop striving and stop shaming and stop trying to earn your way into rest. And I want you to be able to build a life with the Lord that just feels so rooted and so grounded and so ⁓ just like energized by Him that you don't feel depleted anymore, that you're not sitting in depression, that you're not struggling with anxiety, that you... are feeling so renewed and refreshed coming into this next season. And I've been praying, I did a giveaway on Instagram and really just prayed over which Bible to choose, because there's so many beautiful covers of the Hosanna Revival Bibles. And I found one with lemons on it and I couldn't stop staring at it and getting emotional and teary-eyed over calling women into a season of refreshment, because it is a choice. You can stay stressing or striving, or you can move into a season of refreshment when the Lord is offering it to you, like will you take it? And just really seeing this picture of women being refreshed all over the world. all over in different seasons, ⁓ new moms and women who are taking care of moms, like that whole picture of women in between all of that. ⁓ And really just being able to come together and do this and encourage one another and let each other know that you're not alone where you're at, but also we're gonna call each other up because we are growing in grace and we are rooted women and we are going to. come into the things that the Lord has for us in His due timing. And it's going to be a beautiful thing. So I'm inviting you in. This is going to be a 12-week series here on the podcast. Make sure to tune into hermindonmission.com for ⁓ updates. And I will be sending out things to my email list as well as being able to kind of update with those voice messages now in the Rooted Woman Connection. That is the group. Instagram that you can plug into for free as well. So make sure that you're checking it all out I try to have everything on all channels that I can just quickly replicate so that if you're on one and you're not on the other you can still get the updates and you don't feel left out that you can stay connected and I'm just praying that you will be able to even do this with a community that you have in real life to be able to link arms with others and say okay we're gonna listen and we're gonna like reflect on this together when we come together for girls night once a week to be able to to just have that accountability piece and also be able to share transparently and vulnerably where you're at, what you're going through, and where you want to be after this series is done. So I want you to start thinking now, what would change if you stopped talking to yourself like a project that constantly needs fixing? What would change if you stopped talking to yourself like that and you started shifting that mindset? We're gonna go into that in the coming episodes. So I wanna just leave you with that today. I want you to be thinking about scripture, Psalm 1-3. They are like trees planted by streams of water. Be thinking about that. I wanna be a tree planted by streams of water. Colossians 2, 6-7, being rooted and built up in the Lord. Matthew 11-28, when we feel that weariness come, that we're going to Him, start really, really getting your eyes on the Word and getting your thoughts in the place of being able to receive from the series that is coming. I wanna pray for you today. Father God, I just thank you for the women who are tuning in. I thank you God for a season of refreshment that is coming. I thank you for the woman on the other end of a device that is listening to this right now that is just tear-filled eyes. She's been praying for that refreshment and been praying for that refining and feels so crippled by the enemy so crippled by her circumstances so crippled by the things going on in her life that she hasn't been able to get unstuck to move forward to take that next step and so God I just pray that you prepare her mind and her heart that this series will just be a stepping stone for her to be able to say hey you just have to take this first step right here to step on this rock we're gonna get you unstuck and then the next week we're gonna go in this direction and then we're gonna take this next step and and really just being able to breathe God, not Huff and puff, but truly breathe and let all of our burdens and our worries be cast on you Father because we can trust that you hold us in the palm of your hands Lord that you are bending down to listen to the prayers and the cries of our hearts Lord and that you God have a new season something new is coming and you are excited for women to just hone in and grow closer to you God to get rid of the distractions to get rid of the perfectionism to stop feeling depleted to stop feeling depressed to stop feeling weighed down by anxiety Lord and to be able to step into Just this newness that you have Father, a refreshment that will bring us out of that place of feeling depleted and into a place of feeling rooted Lord and to be so connected to you as a Lifeline Father that we stop feeling empty at the end of the day or the end of the week or the end of the month. We don't keep coming back to that feeling but we know that we will be refreshed by you every moment of every day because you have become a Lifeline. So I just pray into this series. I pray into all that you're doing Lord in the hearts of women that tune in that are listening around the world and those who are not and haven't found it yet. Lord that you will just reach out to them Lord and that you will meet them where they are that you will remind them. of who they are as your daughter, as your daughters Lord, that you care so deeply for them Father and I just pray Lord that they will be seen and known and loved by you in a new way in this season, that it will be a transformational one, one that they want to journal about and tell everybody else about Lord because of the new things that you are doing. So God prepare our hearts for all that's to come and bless us as we go about this week in Jesus name, amen. Thank you so much for tuning into the Mission for More podcast. I hope this episode has blessed you and brought an excitement to your heart and an expectancy for what's to come because I know that I'm feeling it. And I'm not just talking at you in this series, I'm doing this with you and alongside you. And I'm just so excited to be able to link arms and to be able to walk into this season of refreshment together. So get ready to get rooted and stay tuned for our first episode in the series next week.
